Kolo is the Arsenal don’t let him go Arsene.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I wake up to the news that William Gallas has been mouthing off to Wenger that he and talisman Kolo Toure can’t play together, if this is true and Wenger is listening, I have to say, I am a little concerned.

This is why he should listen.

  • Kolo was the beginning of your revolution.
  • Kolo would die for the fans and for the shirt.
  • Kolo never gives in.
  • Kolo never complains.
  • Kolo was alongside Sol Campbell in the invincibles, so he can play.
  • Kolo got sent off in a cup final.

Gallas is a great player, but does seem to cause a lot of problems and when he leaves, will always be considered a chav and will probably guest on Sky as a Chav, just like Pat Jennings did and does.

This is why he won’t.

  • Gallas is French.

If he does decide to let Kolo go then he must use his brains and demand Richards as part of the deal, otherwise it will be like the Hleb and Henry deals, they get everything and we get a sack of cash we’ll never spend.

The Arshavin rumours won’t go away and word is now he’ll take a pay cut and given he’ll have to take one in Russia anyway soon, he could well be on his way. I now expect that deal to happen. Arteta looks to be the Cesc replacement and to be honest I’m not against that either, these two arriving will make us a much stronger unit, especially when the injured players come back from sick leave.

It still leaves us short at centre back and if Kolo leaves then he really needs to bring in Chelleini or Richards, my choice would be Chelleini because he is that good, but I wouldn’t sulk if it were Richards.

To be honest though with Gallas at 31 and Kolo at 27, I could also see Gallas going and YaYa coming in.

Shay Given for Almunia I would take but not as well as, it makes no sense to bring in another to cause disharmony in the camp, so I can take it or leave it, but I wouldn’t pay £8mil, I’d sooner spend that outfield.

So lots could be happening today and tomorrow, I hope he acts quickly because we need help now, not at the end of January and there are not a lot of clubs out there spending so that old chestnut excuse is dead.

Astonfuckingluckyvilla, you can’t be that lucky for much longer you smug northern monkeys, your time will come and you’ll be scrapping Hull or Wigan for 6th place.

Have another hopeful day today Grovers!

    Thanks Chipo.

Well maybe i was a little (only a little) over the top. But he will be a top player if he can sort his attitude and committment out.

  2. raif

i think all our problems steming up fron and our Strikers is the fact that our midfield is weak and lacks crativity. and the fact we have no wingers. thats why we are starved of goals. Cesc couldnt do it all on his own. and neither can Nasri,

  3. andy c

Did anyone else get the email from arsenal.com highlighting the Bolton game hasnt sold out yet? Times are changing! Spend our money Arsene and the games will sell out!

  4. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

he’s too arrogant to become a leg-end his finishing is awful, his all round play is poor the only time there is a peep out of him is when he comes off the bench

  5. Stu

I didnt see him being booed but i heard about it. Apparently he just laughed it off. That showed….character, spirit and togetherness. Well the last one doesnt make sense but thats what Wenger says so it must fit somewhere.

  6. Stu

    RasDef,

Are you seriously trying to blame Bendtner for our poor season. Thats a larf

Raif, shouldnt that be the other way around? Our midfield is making the strikers look bad. Is the same frontline as last season. The difference s the midfield.

  7. A

this could be a big month for us, we have

    bolton (h)
    hull (a)
    everton (a)
    west ham (h)

If we can win all 4 then we’ll have caught up a fair bit as others will drop points, liverpool have the merseyside derby, and chelsea play utd once, liverpool play chelsea once.

bbk he’s played very well when he’s had confidence, and not thrown in at the deep end, like against bolton, against sheffield utd, and for denmark.

  8. RasDef

How many goals in how many games? If he sets people up, how many assists then? He aint no Henry!!! What a great joke ill use that one from now on, Bentner the Legend

  9. Stu

A, there was once a time when i would say 12points there but now i just dont know. We have the potential to lose all of them.

  10. Goonerman

Bendtner is crap. Albeit that he has been playing out of position apart from the Burnley game – where he demonstrated that he is crap.

  11. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

the only thing’s i rate about him are getting nutted by adebayor and scoring the winner against the yids apart from that fuck all else

  12. raif

Nikki B shaved his head. i think he means Business now. Remember he did well last season with his Goal to Games Ratio. and he his head was shaven . lol

maybe its just wishfull thinking on my part :)

  13. Stu

He is only 20. Get off his back ffs! Henry wasnt anything special at 20. He was a raw talent then too. And anyway its unfair to compare players. Everyone has a different development curve, hitting their peak at different ages.

  14. RasDef

ofcourse i dont only blame Bentner, if football was a one man show i’d be a glory seeker. I blame piss poor goal keeping, Shady defending and pinkies passing the ball to the opposite team. And yes at 21 he should be the shit, JUST LIKE OUR PRESENT CAPTEN CECS!

  15. A

he played well against pompey bbk, linked up very well with nasri, who only started playing well once bendtner was moved deeper.

Burnley he missed alot of chances but also created chances, and our whole team missed chances. He did fantastically to set up the chances for randall and vela, but his finishing in that game, and others has been very poor when he;s playing without confidence, but no worse than ade on an off day

I dunno stu, i’m very confident about bolton and west ham at home, and hull should be ok too. Everton could be tough though

  16. Stu

I completely agree Raif (in a way) A players haircut imo has an effect on their play.

Remember last season when Ade cut his hair midway through the season, he didnt score for ages after that. Its like his power was in his hair of something. Like superman and his cape.

  17. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

oh well fuck bendtner he’s shit especially for a danish striker normall thry are prolific must be something in the waters when he popped out

  18. A

I think he’s ready, if he played in a full team playing well, instead of ade i think he’d be successful, but as it is the only games he’s played is when he was thrown in at the deep end, up front by himself, in a team in disarray, and became the scapegoat for the whole team playing shit!

  19. Stu

He qas in the reserves foor years and was amazing with Lupoli. I think Bendtner is our best ever reserve striker for goals or something like that.

RasDef, Its completely infair to compare any 21yo to Cesc. Cesc is only one of a few exceptional players who are so good at such a young age…Messi, Rooney(dare I say), Silva, etc. Its rare that players so young are so good so dont try compare Nik to them.

  20. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

when him and van persie play upfront together that is the time when he truly is bollocks nothing happens when them two get together

  21. RasDef

I remember when Bentner started playing in the first team, i meet a Danish guy telling me that he had high hopes for Bentner. At this point i didnt know anything from the guy so i started getting my hopes up that Le Boss found another talent. Well in the end you all know my position…

  22. Swedish Gun

Bendtner the “pink legend” lol lats a larf…what the f..has he done up till now?

    nothing….thats a fact

he has a piss poor first touch and his arrogance will be his downfall

he was very poor against pomey imo and should have been subbed

    I don’t rate him and I don’t want him at Arsenal….thats a FACT :)

  23. Stu

IMO if Nik has been in the team we had last year he would have been prolific, probably even more so that Ade was. Its just that the team we have now is absolutely shit. The whole midfield has changed from last seasons and the team as a whole has been affected.

  24. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

adebayor has got one of the worsest touches i think a pro footballer could have,he posses a touch of a rapest

  25. patthegooner

The only thing Legendary about Bendtner is his Ego

I cant see him making the grade. If he was going to be that good I am sure we would have seen more from him by now.

  26. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

swedish gun,as a swedish person who would you say was better at the age bendtner is now out of h-larsson and nik????

  27. Stu

So you all say he was shit against pompey but however shit he was he was a lot better than Adebayor and he is 5 years his junior so…

  28. RasDef

Maybe he was put in the scene to soon, I’m not scapegoating the guy, pesonally i blame Wenger and his dam youth policy! There are simply too many younglings, and its lack of experience that is killing us… What is Wengers comments, oh i think we are not far from dominating the EPL, yeah right boss! the kids are to bussy doing their homework…

  29. Stu

The fact of this matter is that Nik is only 20 and most 20year old strikers have an experienced team behind them and so dont have much responsibility. Bendtner is the same age as most of the other starters and he has lots of responsibilities. Strikers need to be fed quality but endtner is surrounded by Denilson, Song, Eboue and Ade. Hardly an abundance of quality around him.

  30. patthegooner

    Well said RasDef

I am getting tired of people giving these players the excuse of being Young and that we should give them time

At the end of the day if they are being selected in the Starting Arsenal 11 or on the bench then age does not come into it. They are competing for silver and the only thing that matters is if they are good enough or not, and if they are not and it is due to them being young, they should either be in the Youth Team, the Reserves or on loan.

    Bah Humbug.

  31. raif

hahaha a touch of a rapest, i love that saying.

every time i see a crap touch fropm a player i want to scream that out when im at a arsenal game. but i dont say anything In fear of getting Kicked out haha

  32. Swedish Gun

    A

thats right ,we just see the game a bit different

    BBK

Larsson is 38 now I think, but I still have him over Bendtner any day (his workrate , vision and teamplay is still excellent). Hell, I even have his son Jordan in my team :)

Larsson lives in my hometown Helsingborg btw :)

  33. Big Raddy

I see Nik and Vela as being a viable alternative to Ade /RvP. Throw in Dudu and we have a Plan B.

None are the finished article, but all are proper footballers with an eye for a pass. Nik’s lack of confidence stops him being a natural striker, Poor Nik is not blessed with brains, his instincts are what makes him a fine player.

Perhaps his future is elsewhere which would be a great shame.

  34. Big Raddy

    Hvor bor du Swedish ?

Some strikers take a long time to flourish – just look at Heskey. We need patience with Nik

  35. Paul88

Just watching SSN. They were talking a bout the gerrard arrest and they showed him driving into training whilst talking on his mobile. I’d like to see him get 3 points on his licence for that.

  36. kelsey

we have been spoilt for years with great strikers like henry, wright, and a back up from bergkamp, pires etc so our expectancy is high.
to me both ade and bedtner are a long way off and the alarming thing is that as the season goes on their strike rate is diminishing as is their shots on target.if eduardo regains fitness and the mental block which may have effected him,i would sell both of them, especially ade was worth money last year not so sure now.80k a week as a nuisance value or either of them strolling up and down the wing are not what you call strikers.when did either of them score a goal from the edge of the box.get rid of i say.

  37. Confidentgoner

    Pedro, Geoff,

Heads up to you guys for keeping the Grove train moving and getting almost 300,000 Grovers commenting from all pats of the globe in 08. I just wander the challenge and changes you might introduce to this blog for 09? Anyway, thanks for making our day , everyday! Long may it continue!!

  38. patthegooner

Sergio Aguero, now that is what a talented 20ry old striker is all about.

All about the same age who would you take out of

    Sturridge, Aguero, Bendtner, Bojan, Pato

    Any other suggestions.

when you look at it, Bendtner is not all that at all. I think he needs a loan to prove it one way or another.

  39. RasDef

Of course StevieG got off light, typical… Apparently he has a court date in Jan, in which he could face 5 years in prison according to reports

  40. RasDef

Everytime Vela steps on the pitch everybody gets excited, do you get excited when you see Bentners name as a starter??

  41. patthegooner

    Big Raddy

So we need patience with Bendtner, but at whose expense, we cant carry him until he decides to be good enough. and knowing his ego if he ever does start becoming a prolific Striker his Ego will take him to Barca or Madrid. Personally I dont think he will ever be that good

  42. Stu

SSn also said Spurs denied being linked with a 35m move for Johnson, Crouch and Defoe. Where do they get all this fucking money!!

  43. Big Raddy

    Well said Confident.

A huge Thankyou to Pedro & Geoff.

Wishing you both, and all Le Grovers a wonderful 2009.

2008 has been difficult year for me personally, Le Grove and the wonderful group of reall Gooners has got me through some tough days. So, I would like to Thank you all.

If ever any of you are in the fair city of Copenhagen, I will buy the first Peroni……….

  44. patthegooner

True throw Messi in there as well. It is quite glaringly obvious to me that our kids are not all as good as people make them out to be.

In my books in the current 1st Team squad, it is only really Vela, Wilshire and Ramsey who are the stand out youngsters who I think will play at the highest level.

  45. patthegooner

    RasDef great point.

Vela does carry that aura with him, as he is the kind of player that can make something out of nothing. He looks the nutts and I wish we were giving him more opportunities as I think he is ready now. And if we sorted out the midfield with some class, Vela would thrive off playing with established class.

  46. Big Raddy

I wish I had an answer Pat. In an ideal world Nik would play the last 20 mins of one or two games a month.

I happen to believe in the lad, but my belief may be mis-placed. We shall see.

  47. patthegooner

And to you Big Raddy, 2008 was a mixed year for me, I was made redundant for the first time since starting work at 16, but got a better job out of it pretty quickly and celebrated the birth of a 2nd baby girl……………….Oh and Arsenal were immense until the End of Feb and then went to good to average to shit/average.

Happy new year to all of you and I look forward to everything improving in 2009

    Cheers

  48. patthegooner

I just think he needs a Premiership loan Raddy. send him to a Hull or a Stoke and see how he plays when given a game every week. He is not going to progress much with 20 mins here and there. These kids need game time and experience at their age.

  49. Stu

I think we should be buyig a lot more Europeans for the time being. Its a cunt when we lose players to the acn and confederations cup.

  50. RasDef

Cheers PTG, all the best to you and yours…!
    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

Yep the kids have to prove themselves on loan, if Bentner came to AFC after destroying the Coca-Cola league then we could jump for joy but so far its the other way round. We are digging a hole here…

  51. Stu

He does look like a future talent and potentially great. But he isnt really a winger/wideman. And we need someone a bit older who can do the business straight away. I wouldnt mind having him as long as we arent to reliant on him because of his international committments.

  52. wolski7

Hi all at the Le Grove, wishing you all the very best for 2009.

Here’s hoping tomorrow we can start to feel a change in the air, with some key signings coming to light and a real positive feeling about clawing back some points, a good run to the final of the FA Cup and the removal of Roma in the CL.

I fpr one am going to start the year on a positive note and hope that AW reads this site and does what needs to be done, drop the total youth policy and spark an unbeaten run in 2009.

Finally, thanks to Geoff and Pedro for all their great posts in 2008 and for making this the one and only real place for Gooners to share their opinions.

Thanks and Haaaaapppy New year! Off out now to friends for a few beers.

  53. patthegooner

    He does look good,

I love having a bit of South American flare around but they get the Copa America fucking our season up as well (remember Gilberto coming back late) and it seems everytime they have to fly back for a WCQ they come back knackered and ruled out for the weekend. Sometimes I wonder if it is just best to stick to European players. The Africans and Americans and Asians carry too much baggage.

  54. patthegooner

I think every day after tomorrow that we dont sign someone is a day wasted, we need to get our business done in the next week and all players should be available for selection against Bolton.

We have no time to fuck around waiting for deadline day to throw in a last minute shit bid and end up dissapointed again.

  55. Stu

ptg, Wenger should have taken a few tips off Real Madrid. They have bought 2 players already and those players will be settled in a lot earlier.

Wenger, if he even buys anyone, will probably wait until feb2 and the new players will take until march to settle in.

  56. Swedish Gun

it would be better if he just shut up

    “be patient”
    “not close to anybody”
    “1-2%”
    “maybe one”
    “internal solutions”

    geeeeeeeeez!!! whaaat???

  57. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

Who knows what wenger is thinking anymore, maybe its his long lost evil twin bro who’s locked wenger in a cupboard in austria and supports tottenham,no pun intended either about the austrian cupboard…….

  58. kelsey

Happy New Year to all of you all over the world and thanks again Geoff and Pedro for making it all possible, and the nice people I have got to know in the few months i have been blogging on here.

    buenos noches :)

  59. RasDef

lol swedish- the club does seem in disarray.
True true, the sooner we sign players the better, since Wenger always takes time to intergrate players, sometimes it takes too long…

  60. Stu

How about Denisov from Zenit. He is primarily a DM and is also full of running. Or Yussuf from Kiev. There are plenty of options but Wenger cant see any of them.

  61. Maciek

    Stu,
In Your previous post and yesterday You admitted that You would have loved to see Toulalan wearing our shirt. I rate him highly as a player, but tell me-is he able to cope with Premier League footbal. Is his physical presence enough to succeed?

  62. RasDef

Toulalan would fit in the EPL with no problem, he’s very physical, maintains great footballing qualities and is a no nonsense DM. The only problem i see is that its another french player in an English team. Why not get all the french internationals lol!

  63. Stu

    Evening Maciek,

I do think that Toulalan has what it takes to be a success in te EPL. He is very similar to Flamini in that he is full of running, defensive minded and very disciplined. He is essentially a man marker but not just to one player. He nips attacks at the butt.

Flamini wasnt a physically dominant player and that didnt stop him being a success. Toulalan is also a pretty intellegent player. He wouldnt need to be pushing people off the ball because he would out smart them.

He puts himself about in the French league, does all the dirty work and lets the others work their magic. IMO thats exactly what we need.

  64. vaardo

Cheers to gooners for a crackin 2009! I know I’m not alone in being mostly disappointed in 2008. AW really needs to retool our “youth policy”. How exactly does a 31 yr old troublemaking centre half become integral to our storied side. I agree that given the choice, Kolo must stay and Billy G the Chav must go! Also, the Arshavin stories must be rubbish as he is way too old and pricey. Why not cast our net for a “creative” player further south – specifically, Athletico Madrid. Kun Aguero is the real deal with many productive years ahead. I really believe the Arsenal have enough deficiencies potentially fall out of the CL spots. Playing in the UEFA Losers Cup would be dire and what’s more, you would some players would become difficult to retain. This January is vitally important for the club.. come Arsene!

  65. Stu

RasDef, i agree that we have a lot of Frenchies. When we had lots of them before they were all starters for France but now only Gallas starts. If we were to buy more french players this is what i’d do.

    IN: Toulalan, Gourcuff

    OUT: Gallas, Diaby, Silvestre…..Sorted!

  66. A

stu although flamini was a success to an extent whilst not being physically dominant the fact that he wasn’t physically dominant meant that wenger felt it necessary to play eboue right mid to add physicality, and with someone like toulalan eboue or song would still need to play!

  67. JonJon

il be really fucked off if gallas stays and kolo goes.

gallas is a better player but hes also a pure tosser and if wenger chooses that prat over a man who bleeds arsenal then i dont care if we sign arteta arshavin pele or maradona, il never fucking forgive him or gallas,

if we lose kolo because of gallas he can fuck off too, il never cheer that cunt again.

  68. Stu

BBK, I wouldnt mind pog is we played differently but we play football(or at least try to) and he is 6’2′. We dont cross so he would be a waste really.

  69. Maciek

Thanks. Stu-I didn’t know that You have big knowledge about Russian league. I also rate Bialjetidinov,Zhirkov, Vagner Love.

  70. Stu

We should buy a Russian beast of a defender. 6ft 9 or something from the peak of a mountain in the middle of nowhere, who takes no shit from anyone and scares the shit out of strikers. Or just hand Keown a contract.

  71. Stu

I wouldnt say i know a lot about the Russian league really, but i know a small bit. I dont rate Vagner Love at all. Especially his stupid hair and name.

  72. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

i dont care what anyone say’s alex witsel is a g what he says about not signing for mancs or the chavs if arsenal came calling and saying to the tottenham fan he wants to sign for a club braaaaaaaaaaaaaappppp

  73. Maciek

    Hi Jon.How are You mate?
Kolo was great player but sadly he isn’t right now. He is a great servant of our Club but he is past it I’m afraid. Sell him and buy Zapata or Hangeland and sort out our defense.

  74. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

wenger you hear that sign the geezah up we want players who want to play for the club and die for the shirt

  75. Stu

Just checked on Wiki. According to that 22 of the 23man Russian squad plays in Russia. Pav at Souds is the only exception.

We should just but from there because they showed u=in the Euros that they are very good footballers.
