Expect 3 points and at least 4 goals as the EPL whipping boys visit the Grove.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I’m sorry if some of you think I’m putting the mockers on today by suggesting a tonking, but if West Ham can beat Portsmouth 4-1 away from home then it really shouldn’t be a problem for Arsenal to dish out a pounding, and given the great news that Song won’t be playing, it will be like watching a passing team all over again, so I’m looking forward to seeing us get three points if nothing else.

It will be nothing else because Song will return and Arsene will buy no one, or no one of interest in the window, as the experiment will drag on for another 5 months until the summer where we’ll lose our best players again, groundhog day continues.

I listened to TalkShite yesterday on my way to the driving range and two mupppets by the name of Collymore and Houghten were talking about Wenger, they both said that nothing beats Wengerball but that doesn’t mean he can’t be criticised, and they said he needs to change what he’s doing or he’ll lose his coveted 4th spot, they said in the first half at Villa we were awful, they said Wenger said we were the better team against Liverpool and we clearly weren’t, so to sum up they said he needs to spend.

Collymore said he researched how many times the board has come out this season alone and said Wenger has huge funds at his disposal for players. It was 7 times. They also said that the whole footballing world, which inlcludes many ex-Arsenal players all said he needs to spend money. They said the board has said it too many times for it to be wrong. I agree.

Someone said on the blog yesterday that if we don’t qualify for the champions league will will fail to attract top players next season, hey! wake up people, what does that matter, we wouldn’t buy them anyway!

Ok, I hope I’m wrong and that the manager buys some new players in the window and gets rid of the dead wood. The dead wood for me is Song, Almunia and Eboue and loan out Bendtner because he needs to prove he can make it at the top level and so far this season he hasn’t showed anything that I would want for my pub team, let alone the love of my life, the Arsenal.

I really believe we are only 3 or 4 players off being dominant, but if we don’t sign those players we won’t finish in the top 6, let alone the top 4, and the sooner Mr Wenger realises that the sooner we will win things, the minute that Song went off against Villa we started to play better football and had Ramsey been given the playing time Song had so far this season, he would be twice the player he is now and 4 times the player Song will ever be.

Arsene if you rate Song, please tell us what he did in the Villa game that warranted your unbelievable praise, because no one in the footballing world can see it, he’s slow, positionally woeful, gives away fouls, loses possession, can’t seem to pass to his own players and is slower than the wonderful old lady that sits behind me at the Grove.

If you’re going today Grovers have a great day, I really expect this to be Tony Adams last game in charge, so Arsene, keep him behind in the changing room today and sign him as your number two, let Pat retire, he’s been a loyal servant but we need too kick on and win something this year.

Arsenal 5 Portsmouth nil.

Sorry, I forgot my preferred team, not the one he would pick, my team.

Sagna Gallas Djourou/Kolo Clichy

Nasri Denilson/Ramsey Diaby Vela

You obviously have a severe lack of ambition then Keyser.

I think we deserve better for a number of reasons. Firstly there are a number of things that makes a great manager but one of them is the ability to rebuild a team, and Wenger has failed big time. He has struggled to buy the right players and struggled to keep the right players.

Secondly I agree we should not be paying what we are to watch this level of entertainment. Do I think we should get the price lowered. No, what I want is for the club to invest the money we spend in the squad. We should be going there to watch a front six like Ljungberg, Gilberto, Vieira, Pires, Bergkamp and Henry. Some of The players we are fielding at the moment would not look out of place starting at Barnsley not Arsenal.

And yes we do need other players other than David Villa, but that is what rebuilding a squad is all about, when one starting player goes you replace him with similar or better quality. We have not done that and it fucking sucks.

Fuck the Journey Keyser, it would be great if you were actually getting somewhere but our journey is currently on a train in reverse.

  2. Ja_Gunner

We need a winger and a DM.

A solid DM would help sure up the defense , I would continue with Gallas and Djourou as first choice. Even tho Gallas made a bad decision on the penalty..I mean AGbonlahor was not goin to get a good attempt from that angle so why do something so rash?

Anyway I say Arshavin, we cant wait for Theo and Rosicky to be back.

We need Arshavin or at the very least Elia from Twente.

I say Arshavin because he is one of the few quality players that will be available. All other teams will want to hold on to their quaity playersin the
transfer window..but Zenit are willing to sell and Arshavin is craving a new challenge.

He will want to show that he is not only a Russian league player, he will wnat to prove that he can stand out in one of the best leagues in the world. He is hungry.

As for DM Toulalan would be good…but if not him then I say Stephane Mbia, Song’s teamate…he is over six feet tall, has better technique than Song and must be quicker. Song should be centre back for Arsenal long term.

  3. avenell

Pedro has mine Rico… When he is on I will ask him to send it to you… ;)
I was just checking if I still had the old flannel with the ladies…

  4. Pat

Are you actually praising Robinho? He was shit and it was Sturridge who saved the day for City. Robinho my arse. Most overrated player.

  5. patthegooner

I dont think it is defenders we need, it is a defensive coach.

Would love Arshavin but to be honest it looks like a load of club and agent talk. this is exactly what went on in the summer. The club are looking for a ridiculous fee when surely given his inability to play in the CL means he is only worth about 10m.

  6. patthegooner

I think he is class Pat,

It is the ability to still turn it on in a second even on an off day.

Did you not see him the other day, he is a an awesome player who if was at Chavski now would be pissing the league.

  7. Pat

    I’d take M’Bia over Toulalan. M’Bia is only 21 or 22.

Sessegnon or Makoun would be good signings too, but I doubt PSG and Lyon will want to sell their recently purchased players.

  8. patthegooner

I have not seen M’bia Pat, what is he like?

To be honest I would prefer a string of 3-4 signings all aged between 25 and 29

  9. Keyser

pattheGooner – and that’s it, here we go, a severe lack of ambition ? You don’t know me, how does that reflect on me ?! I don’t want to be rude here, so umm I’ll move on.

It’s like listening or reading to newspaper articles or tabloid hacks, it’s all regurgiatated through, he struggles here, he strguggles there, players are shit, Villa is great, we must spend spend spend, we played excellant today, we played completely shit the next. Lets compare ourselves to Barnsley ?!

Wenger struggles in buying players, how good must he have been to assemble the players we have seen over the years for the money and the prices we paid to get through the turnstiles.

Nah I’ll take the journey, it’s what made me appreciate all the good moments, you can covet your precious all you want, Heh and you criticised me for not bothering to construct arguments.

  10. patthegooner

12 goals in 19 games is pretty fucking good for a winger/2nd striker Pat, especially at Man City

Someone like Robinho is sadly what we are missing going forward. He would have been an Arsenal Legend. Unfortunately he is another player that Wenger nearly signed.

  11. Pat

pat, then you havn’t seen Robben this season. Last season, an out of form Robben was better than Robinho. Now, there is no contest.

Most Pool fans I talk to are terrified of Robben, not Madrid. He’s been brilliant. Robinho who?

M’Bia is an engine. A workhorse much like Toulalan. He’s tall, about 6’2. He’s one of the best CDM in Ligue 1.

  12. Pat

pat, its much easier scoring goals for a shit club than it is for a top club.

    On Robin van Persie’s absence…
“I took the decision not to start him because he was on the edge because he gave absolutely everything on Friday. I didn’t want to take a gamble to bring him on because in cold weather like that he would need a long warm-up and I believe it would not have been alright.”

  13. Stu

But M’Bia is african. We would lose him every january for a month. We dont need more africans. Toulalan is my first choice for DM. Not a traditional Dm but am amaing workhorse, a good passer and very vocal. Plus hes french.

  14. patthegooner

Sorry Keyser it was not meant to be rude it is just the way you come across in text, it sounds like you lack ambition and are just happy to be on the journey wherever it takes us.

I did criticise you for not constructing arguments as you were only putting together one liners with sly digs at people.

This is more like it, I love people on here with vastly different opinions as otherwise you are just patting each other on the back.

Look pre-invincibles Wenger was a legend. He bought the right players at the right prices but for some reason and I honestly cant explain it, he has suddenly lost the ability to get the right players and to keep them.

Sure you take the good with the bad, but when the bad is not necessary I am going to speak up buddy. I am not happy with the way things are. I really hope he turns it around and have said it many times and I guess we will find out in 4 weeks whether or not he can take it on the chin and admit he got it wrong by buying the players he should have been buying over the last 3 years.

  15. JonJon

no more africans please, especially if they are our first choice players, it fucks our season up, they dissapear for a month and come back fucked

  16. choy

how is it easy to score for a shit club.. all the top scorers in the league are from the top 4 if i’m not mistaken..

    robinho is world class

  17. patthegooner

As it goes Pat I would actually like both of them but my preference is definately Robinho,

Just an personal opinion, but I like my winger/2nd striker to score goals and Robben has not been scoring that many. Sure he sets up a lot but so does Robinho

I think most of my thoughts on Robben are based on his last season at Chelsea, I felt that once the premiership got used to him, they learnt how to deal with him and nullified his danger. He was at his best in his first year at Chelsea.

  18. JonJon

i think stu misphrased his comment, having a hindered squad every other year isnt good enough, its hard enough as it is to get through the season without injuries, nevermind losing key players that are fully fit half way through the year. its a hinderance.

they go away fit and on form and come back knackered.

    its pointless.

  19. Pat

Choy, top scorers are as follows:

    Anelka-14
    Robinho-10
    Agbonlahor-9
    Zaki-9
    Cisse-8
    Crouch-8
    CR-8
    RVP-8
    Ade-7
    Bent-7

Defoe, Ireland and Owen all have 7.

  20. Ja_Gunner

Pat that stat does not prove anybody right or wrong.

Thats a mixed bag, there are top scorers all over the league table.

To say its easier to score for a shit team is not proven here….nor is the opposite argument.

  21. Pat

An above average striker usually fins it easier to score when playing with a bad team, because every final pass goes to him. His teammates depend on that player much more.

  22. JonJon

barca are top of europes goals per game average chart, they hit just over 3 goals a game
hoffenhiem are second with just under 3

we dont even get into the top 10

  23. Ja_Gunner

Pat that is an opinion you cant prove that with stats cuz Anelka is the top scorer.

Even though they may depend on a good striker more in a shit team….he may not get the ball in good positions because of the quality of the service he gets.

Hell he might even have to create all for himself….so that is totally debatable.

  24. gambon

A striker will score more at a good club as more will be created for him.

Would Ade have scored 30 for Boro/Pompey last season? of course not cos he’s shit

ave – and i dont even know you ;) that would be nice, please know you can trust me to keep your email safe….

JJ – I was munching naughty stuff for supper

  27. Ja_Gunner

On another note I think Scolari is paying for being scared to play 4-4-2.

I mean I know Anelka came on early in the game but, he benhced 14 goal striker to start Drogba, who is still probablt not 100%.

He loves to play Malouda…who to me does not give them much.

  28. Pat

I wouldn’t take Binho over RVP.

And Ade scored 30 goals last season, because he was our only fit striker and we depended on him

  29. Stu

    Neuer
    Sagna – JD – Hangeland – Clichy
    Arshavin – Toulalan – Cesc – Rosicky
    Eduardo – RSC

Wouldnt be a bad way to start next season given the availability or price of certain players. Any better suggestions?

  30. patthegooner

    DG Brilliant.

Will Almunia be juggling, if so then there are only 60,096 tickets left,

Do I get to queue 1hr for a beer and a hotdog though? if not it will not be the same.

  31. Keyser

pattheGooner – Don’t say sorry, just remember it explains why there are sly digs or one-liners, because it’s not worth putting any more effort in.

Lack ambition ? Nah, its football, I have little or relatively no effect on the outcome of a game, if you want to step onto the football pitch with me that’s something different.

If I lack ambition how would you describe people who seem more depressed after a team wins ? People who constantly moan about the way their team performs ? Who constantly swear, curse and threaten people around them at games ?! Who can’t adequately or rationally assess the talent or quality of a player ?!

Are they deluded, irrational, inadequate morons ? Or are they like every other fan out there fanatical about something to the point where their emotions can get the better of them ? I just enjoy football no matter what, yeah I get angry, sad and bitter about results but then if it actually reflected on me as a person then I’d have serious worries.

Heh, speak up all you want, I can trade one liners and take digs at you if you want, or we can have a rational discussion I’m betting it won’t last too long but then we’re just ordinary fans.

  32. patthegooner

    Pat

How do you feel about RVP

for me he is still a nearly striker. He has been here a while now yet consistency has never been there. He is like Paul Merson, moments of brilliance and then anonymous for games on end.

  33. Ja_Gunner

African or not. I would take Mbia, cuz we all know Arsene does not spend big.

I think though that he should try to get Arshavin from Zenit for 15mil with some conditions, as we know that Zenit want 20 mil for him.

15 mil with conditions is good enough for me. An energetic DM Toulalan or Mbia would help us stop leaking goals.

However as seen today we need an extra offensive edge which I think Arshavin can give.

I suggest Mbia for dm because if we spend 15 mil for Arshavin or someone like that he will not want to spend big on another player, the other players will have to be bargains/diamonds/gems like Eduardo or Sagna.

He said to me . . . I don’t know why you wear a bra; you’ve got nothing to put in it.
    I said to him . . . You wear pants don’t you?

He said to me . .. ….. Shall we try swapping positions tonight?
She said . That’s a good idea – you stand by the ironing board while I sit on the sofa and fart!

He said to me. … What have you been doing with all the grocery money I gave you?
I said to him . …..Turn sideways and look in the mirror!

He said to me. ….. Why don’t women blink during foreplay?
I said to him .. . They don’t have time

He said to me. . How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?
I said to him .. . We don’t know; it has never happened.

He said to me.. . Why is it difficult to find men who are sensitive, caring and Good- looking?
I said to him . . . They already have boyfriends.

I said…What do you call a woman who knows where her husband is every night?
    He said. . . A widow.

He said to me . .. . Why are married women heavier than single women?
I said to him . .. . Single women come home, see what’s in the fridge and go to bed. Married women come home, see what’s in bed and go to the fridge.

SEND THIS TO A SMART WOMAN WHO NEEDS A LAUGH AND TO THE GUYS YOU THINK CAN HANDLE IT

  35. Pat

pat, he’s been very good since the City game. Not scoring as much as we’d like, but his link-up play and bringing others into the game is brilliant.

He’s been here awhile, but he’s also been injured awhile. He fights and I truly believe he loves the Arsenal. Something I can’t say about all of our players.

  36. Keyser

I think we should go with Blaise Matuidi, there’s notan Arsenal fan in the World that wouldn’t want that name on their back, I dunno, what it is but I just like the sound of it.

Hows about ‘Blaise Matuidi’ ? I don’t know how many would want Tuguy on their backs ?!

  37. kelsey

A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer says, ‘ I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir.’

The driver says, ‘Gee, officer I had it on cruise control at 60, perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating.’

Not looking up from her knitting the wife says: ‘Now don’t be silly dear, you know that this car doesn’t have cruise control.’

As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, ‘Can’t you please keep your mouth shut for once?’

The wife smiles demurely and says, ! ‘You should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did.’

As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, ‘Dammit, woman, can’t you keep your mouth shut?’

The officer frowns and says, ‘And I notice that you’re not wearing your seat belt, sir. That’s an automatic $75 fine.’

The driver says, ‘Yeah, well, you see officer, I had it on, but took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket.’

The wife says, ‘Now, dear, you know very wel! l that you didn’t have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt when you’re driving.’

And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket the driver turns to his wife and barks, ‘WHY DON’T YOU PLEASE SHUT UP??’

The officer looks over at the woman and asks, ‘Does your husband always talk to you this way, Ma’am?’

    I love this part…. :

    ‘Only when he’s been drinking.’

  38. patthegooner

I would go with you on some of those Keyser,

Depressed and moaning shows that people care. for me a bad result means a ruined weekend, I cant help feeling that way, it is just the way I am. I can even accept the swearing and cursing but threatening people is unnaceptable and if anything the only threatening behaviour I have ever seen at Arsenal has come from the AKB (A word I dont like) crowd towards someome being critical of a performance.

I am not here for one liners though. I am here to debate, there is no fun in abuse tennis on a blog site, it just leaves you angry and dissapointed. at the end of the day we are all gooners and all different and all have varying tolerance levels at what is going on at the club. And like I said earlier if we all agreed this would be a shit blog and that is why I am not blogging anywhere else.

And I think that tollerance level is where it shows. I bet if this blog was up and running Invincible year, then every blogger would be a ultra positive blogger. I just struggle to understand how and why it all went wrong. I thought it was back on track last summer then we lost Hleb, Gilberto, Diarra, Flamini and Lehmann without replacement and brought in Nasri who was in my opinion the missing part of the jigsaw.

Just frustrated buddy, I just to enjoy the football again and see us back up where we belong.

A young man called Chris from London wanted to buy a Christmas present for his new girlfriend.

They hadn’t been seeing each other for very long and she lived in Scotland.

Chris consulted with his sister and decided, after careful consideration, that a pair of good quality gloves would strike the right note… not too romantic and not too personal.

Off he went with his sister to Harrods and they selected a dainty pair of fur lined quality leather gloves. His sister bought a pair of sexy knickers for herself at the same time.

Harrods had a free gift wrap offer but the assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Chris unknowingly got the knickers.

Good old Chris sent off his gift wrapped present in a parcel with the following letter.

    Dear Maggie,

I chose these because I’ve noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings. If it had not been for my sister I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones (which are easier to remove).

These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and I hardly noticed any marks.

I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that they rub against her ring which helps keep it clean. In fact she hasn’t needed to wash it since she began wearing them.

I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again.

When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they will be naturally a little damp from wearing.

Just imagine how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year.

I hope you will wear them for me on our next date.

    All my love,

    Chris

P.S. My mum tells me that the latest style is to wear them folded down with a little bit of fur showing.

A young man moved into a new apartment of his own and went to the lobby
to put his name on his mailbox. While there, an attractive young lady
came out of the apartment next to the mailboxes, wearing a robe. The boy
smiled at the young woman and she started a conversation with him. As
they talked, her robe slipped open, and it was obvious that she had
    nothing else on.

The poor kid broke into a sweat trying to maintain eye contact. After a
few minutes, she placed her hand on his arm and said,
‘Let’s go to my apartment, I hear someone coming.’
He followed her into her apartment; she closed the door and leaned
against it, allowing her robe to fall off completely. Now nude, she
    purred at him,
‘What would you say is my best feature?’
Flustered and embarrassed, he finally squeaked,
‘It’s got to be your ears.’
Astounded, and a little hurt she asked,
‘My ears? Look at these breasts; they are full and 100% natural. I work
out every day and my butt is firm and solid. Look at my skin – no
blemishes anywhere. How can you think that the best part of my body is
    my ears?’

Clearing his throat, he stammered ….
‘Outside, when you said you heard someone coming…. that was me.’

    Dear wife:

I’m writing you this letter to tell you that I’m leaving you forever. I’ve been a good man to you for 7 years & I have nothing to show for it. These last 2 weeks have been hell.

Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today & that was the last straw. Last week, you came home & didn’t even notice I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal & even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in 2 minutes, & went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don’t tell me you love me anymore; you don’t want sex or anything that connects us as husband & wife. Either you’re cheating on me or you don’t love me anymore; whatever the case, I’m gone.

    Your EX-Husband

P.S. don’t try to find me. Your SISTER & I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life!

    Dear Ex-Husband

Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter.

It’s true you & I have been married for 7 years, although a good man is a far cry from what you’ve been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining & griping Too bad that doesn’t work. I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the 1st thing that came to mind was ‘You look just like a girl!’ Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you can’t say something nice, I didn’t comment. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork 7 years ago. About those new silk boxers: I turned away from you because the $49.99 price tag was still on them, & I prayed it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed $50 from me that morning.

After all of this, I still loved you & felt we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for 10 million dollars, I quit my job & bought us 2 tickets to Jamaica But when I got home you were gone. Everything happens for a reason, I guess.

I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you won’t get a dime from me.

    So take care.

    Signed,
Your Ex-Wife, Rich As Hell & Free!

P.S. I don’t know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl.

    I hope that’s not a problem.

    Imagine this January team.

    ………………………Al………………………

    Sagna…………Gallas….Djouoro……Clichy

    …….Diaby/Denilson…….Mbia/Matuidi…..

    ……RVP………….Nasri………………Arshavin

    ……………………Ade………………………..

With Eddy, Vela Ramsey and company coming off the bench I believe that team could make a run.

    or diff formation

    ………………………Al……………………….

    Sagna…….Gallas…….Djouoru……..Clichy

    Nasri……..Diaby/Denilson…..Mbia…….Arshavin

    ……………….RVP…….Ade…………………..

Imagine having Diaby and Mbia in the midfield, thats two guys that are atleast 6′ 1″ – 6′ 2″
I dont think we could be bullied as much.

I would swicth Nasri to the right and put Arshavin to the left. In the euros he seemed at home on both flanks, he can shoot and cross with both feet.

  45. patthegooner

    on another blog

    Wenger talking to Canal +

“I start feeling the crisis but I can’t spend £40m. We are looking at a creative player and another midfielder.”

When asked about the Arshavin link, Wenger replied with a coy smile and answer.

    “Be patient.”

  46. gambon

From seeing his sky interview i got the feeling Arshavin may be coming, usually he just says no if its a no.

I’d rather a better CM that M’bia or Matuidi, both good but not in the Toulalan, Cana class.

  47. Paul88

That sounds quite positive doesn’t it patthegooner. I think he said much the same in the summer, and we all know how that transpired.

  48. Stu

Ja, the second team you suggest is a little strange. Why continue with Denilson, who is beong groomed into a DM, next to M’Bia, an established DM. Surely it should be one or the other not both.

And as long as we are buying players, why not replace Almunia with a stop-gap, experienced keeper that can fill in until Fabainski is ready?

  49. Stu

    Gambon,

in the summer i was one of the many calling for Cana. Also I like others was impressed by his youtube video but since then I have seem him more than a few times and havent been as impressed. Toulalan would easily be my prefered option but Cana wouldnt be bad either. Could be cheap too.

  50. Ja_Gunner

Stu but if we have another dm in the team then surely this could free up Denilson to do what he does better that is join the attack.

Arsene does not seem to have set role for him..he just does a job whenever he has to….

Rememeber against Aston Villa he was attacking while Song was trying to clean up so the team I suggest is not strange, its only that Mbia has replaced Song.

  51. Ja_Gunner

I hope that Arshavin thing is true.

At least it would show ambition.

I know ppl will say he is not EPL proven…but the fact is he is acknowledged as Russia’s best player of this era. He has proven himself in the Russian league and had a decent euros. He literally destroyed Holland with 1 goal and 1 assist plus he caused them many problems for the whole game.

He is hungry and wants to prove himself on a bigger stage.

I mean come on thats what we need hungry players in their prime (25-30).

He is hungry to win som, ething other than the Russian league or UEFA cup.

He cannot win the champions league this year but his addidtion will help us to qualify or CL next year he could also help us win the FA CUP for example.

  52. kelsey

you know a lot of us slate almunia, but i just saw a rerun of the highlights and james lost 3 crosses and gallas’s goal was typical of the goals we usually concede.

earlier someone mentioned toure having a disease was that a wind up,anybody.

  53. avenell

Kelsey.. I think it’s reference to the malaria..

    I would go for the 3 A’s

    Arshavin..
    Alonso..
    Appiah…
£30 mill and we are sorted!

  54. gambon

Stu, obviously youtube clips can make players look way better than they are, but i’d much rather we spent the extra money getting a top class player in MF than Mbia, Matuidi who are really just stop gaps.

For me anyone of Cana, Toulalan, Tomyschuk, De Jong, De Rossi, Senna or Toure would be awesome.

It seems that he isnt planning to sign a CB, which i think is a big, big mistake.

  55. Stu

    Kelsey,

Toure got Malaria during a visit to the Ivory Coast towards the end of the summer. Some people blame that on his poor form but he has been poor since the acn.

    Herbert,

I say i wasnt impressed that much because – the reason i was so impressed originally came from what I saw in the youtube clips. But when i have seen him live this saeson he hasnt done anything from the clips. I liked him because of his agression, determination etc but i saw none of that live. Thats what put me off him.

  56. Herbert

    Just saw AW´s press conference.

He really has it with the press and the other critics. He said:

“No matter what we do, we are always swimming against bad headlines”
“Never since I am here has a team got as much bad publicity, and I do not think it is fair, because they are the youngest team and they need the support the most”
“What came out after the Villa game was like we had been completely disastrous. We were closer to win than to lose and you read the newspaper next day and it is like we had been disastrous. And I think we could have been proud of our performance. Ok Villa came back at the last minute but that can happen to anybody”

I think they are really in crisis there for him to lash out like this against the press and other critics, making them the evil guys who should feel guilty and ashamed.

  57. reggie57

Saw wenger coming out of asdas on saturday
i shouted at him Oy buy some quality you twunt?
he shouts back i have,3 TINS FOR A TENNER!!!!!!!

  58. Ja_Gunner

Mbia would not be a stop gap because he is a talented player and he is young.(21 or 22)

A stop gap would be Appiah or somebody in that age range.

Mbia could well establish himself …but then Arsene will just sell him in 2 years or so, I would have no problem as long as Ramsey and company will be ready for that time.

  59. Jules

    Hey guys

got back from todays game and jeeeesssssssssssssss

I hope we sign a couple of good players . We shifted Nasri in the middle to try and create something so our latest and newest left midfielder was ,no ,not eboue , not silvestre . ….. today it was …….. Niiki Bentner !! L O L ! he was shit .

god it was bad ! but at least we won .

  60. Jules

What I don,t get with Wenger is today our wide players were eboue right mid and
Bentner left mid . (it just gets worse ) but he had RVP .Vela and wishere on the bench

    ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  61. Jules

Eboue was awfull so he took him off put Vela on at L M who did well and then
big Nikki became R M ! I was just laughing by that time . Dosent RVP platythere
for the Dutch and do a pretty good job !?

  62. Herbert

    Jules

That´s right – RvP always plays RM in the Dutch team. But they, unlike us, have proper DM players who do the dirty defensive work behind him

  63. Stu

One of the very many things I dont get are the widemen situation. Not about players being player out of position but …….its hard to explain.

Wenger plays right foted players on the left, supposedly so that they can cut in and influence the play centrally. But if thats the case then why doesnt he play with the same mentallity on the right wing and play a left footer there. It seems that Wenger has a dislike of lefties in midfield….along with his dislike of experience, wingers, quality keepers and good defenders. I just dont get it.

  64. Jules

good point Herbert ! It was laughable today . Nikki B on each wing ! oh dear .why he did,nt play Vela left and RVP right in the second half , I don,t know . I think we would of stuffed them with rvp cutting in onto his left foot .

  65. Stu

Its not that Van plays RM he plays right side of a 3man attack. In a 4-3-3 the front 3 have little if any defensive rrsponsibilities and are allowed to concentrate completely on attack. If we played rvp RM he would have to defend and be wasted.

  66. Jules

Any of them would have been better than eboue and bentner after what I saw today .

we created fuck all . One decent chance in the first half .

  67. Stu

For those of you who might not remebmber Bendtners first appearance for Arsenal came as a wideman. He was an early injury-forced substitution against…….Doncaster(i think). He also has a mullet type haircut.

It was a game in which we drew 2-2 away, Gilberto scoring the injury time equaliser and which we went on to win on oenalties thanks to Almunia.

If i remember correctly Senderos either made a mistake or scored an own goal. Almunia, after saving the penalties, said he did it for Ohil because he felt sorry for him.

Oh how things have changed….well, apart from Phils mistakes.

  68. Stu

    Herbert,

in reference to Yaya. He is undoubtedly a great footballer- good feet, powerful, quick etc but as that video showed and as we already somewhat knew he isnt a DM. imo he isnt disciplined enough to play the defensive role. Just a thought.

  70. Stu

hey evo/choy, I reckon it will be a mix of the ever presents and the stand out young’uns of the CC.

    Fabianski
    Eboue – Song – Silvestre – Gibbs
    Wilshere – Randall/Ramsey – Denilson – Merida
    Eduardo/Vela – Bendtner
    Or something along those lines.

  71. Stu

The first half was typically shit, staying in line with our other performances as of late. It wasnt a good game but 3 points is still 3points regardless of the performance. Almunia has highlighted the need for a new keeper, there was no creativity, alot of sideways passing, lack of concentration and poor finishing up front…..just another day in the life of arsenal.

Didnt really pay a lot of attention because i was on here too and my streams were bad but at least we won. What did you think?

  72. choy

yeah 3 points is 3 points!

reflecting on the game… nasri looked good after a while, once he got used to his new position.

but we were very poor on the whole, ade missed a great 1 v 1 and i was shitting when crouch hit the post, denilson was probably instructed not to go front so he wasn’t involved in much of the attacking play, great freekick though to get that assist.

everything else was a hit and miss.. i thought nick looked pretty ok on the wings, vela and ramsey showed some urgency when they came on.

just looking forward to the FA cup now!

  73. Evo in Oz

i enjoyed nasri playing through the middle, reminded me a bit of sicknote when he has played there in the past

hated diaby playing wide, he should play in the guts….i thought denilson and eboue both should have been subbed for RVP and vela

  74. Stu

Just watched the highlights on motd, Bendtner didnt look half bad at all, but then again its highlight so…

Ade was truly woeful all game. The one time he wasnt offside today he fluffed his lines and allowed Sol and Distin to recover. The sooner Eduardo is fit and starting the better.

  75. Stu

We should buy Clint Dempsey. Always scors against the bigger clubs. Scored the wimmer against Pool a few seasons ago and 2 against Chelsea today.

  76. Evo in Oz

    too expensive for us.

i wouldnt mind us buying that fellaini guy at everton, he looks the goods. i doubt we would even mount a challenge to get him though

  77. Stu

Rumour also has it that he was spotted visiting ours and the Spuds training grounds last week.

I wouldnt mind him at all because he is a top player, of what i’ve seen but at 20m its too much. Especially given his age, he is cup tied and he seems to have attitude problems.

  78. Ja_Gunner

    I hope we get Arshavin.

But I figure they will negotiate and try to get him for 15 mil plus some conditions.

I think he is worth that, given the fact that Real has paid atleast 20 mil for Diarra.

Since we dont have the creativity of Cesc or Rosicky. We need to use the wings more. Arshavin is comfortable on both flanks, He is excellent on the left especilly on counter attacks…he is urgent, direct & fast like Theo but he has better ball control and more experienced.

I would put him on the left and switch Nasri on the right. We would get more out of Nasri while also improving penetration on our left side.

playing 4-2-3-1 would be ideal as well.

    ……………………Al………………………..

    Sagna………Gallas…Djouoro……….Clichy

    …………./Diaby….Mbia/Diaby……………….

    ……RVP………….Nasri……………Arshavin

    …………………..Ade………………………..

    or some variation

  79. Stu

I find it very interesting that when people suggest formations with possible new signings everyone seems to leave Almunia in there. Surely he should be replaced with a better keeper.

    Oh and Ja…2 diabys? Interesting!

  80. TJ

Surely we won’t spend twenty million on Asharvin, i’m sure it’s a Wenger smokescreen so the press won’t inflate the price of his true targets!

& whilst we haven’t got Cesc, surely Ramsey now deserves a start, how many times will Diaby have to give the ball away before Wenger see’s what we all do!

  81. Ja_Gunner

    Lol…

    More like

    …………………….Al…………………….

    Sagna……..gallas………Djouro…..Clichy

    ………Diaby/Mbia………Denilson/Mbia..

    …….RVP……….Nasri……….Arshavin
    ……………..Ade……………………..

Stu I just know that Arsene will not sign a keeper so I dont even bother.

But I am still hoping on a Arshavin type player and good DM which would take pressure off the defense.

I believe we have enough defenders they just need help from the midfield.

  82. PDT

Did anyone notice that ARSHAVIN is actually HAV NASRI?

Why buy Arshavin when we hav Nasri?

Sorry – stupid one – I blame it on the lateness of the hour!

  83. Stu

I know this is way off topic but there is no1 else here so im having to amuse myself.

There should be and hopefully will be a series of changes both in personell and organsiational level (if that makes sense). Now i know it is just a minor detail, probably irrelevant in all things related to performance levels but it is neat and looks good…well, it does to me anyway.

Im not a neat-freak….anymore ;) but i do like my things organised and especially the numbers—-Squad Numbers. It is really annoying that our number allocation scheme is all over the shop. Diaby-mf-2, Sagna-rightback-3, Gallas-supposes CB-10, no number 6 and the less annoying ones of RvP being 11.

    My preference would be :
    1
    2-5-6-3
    11-4-8-7
    9-10

Its probably just me but it just looks more professional to have organisation throughout a club. We seem to have none anywhere anymore.

  84. PDT

Evo, plays on the wing, both in the classical sense where he sends in crosses as well as in the AW way of cutting back in off the wing.
