Arsenal boss, French recluse Arsene Wenger said that the rest of the top teams haven’t looked untouchable and if we can beat Villa today then we CAN WIN THE LEAGUE!
What he meant was everyone else is as crap as we are, so all is not lost if we can nick it against Villa and we can get to January and bag some fire sale bargains.
As it’s only us and ManCity that actually have money and the Spuds probably still have £12mil from the laughable sale of Berbatov there will be plenty of selling clubs around so we could see some Arsenal canny buying.
Today it was announced that West Ham have transfer listed Bellamy, Upson, Green and Parker, well if we don’t buy Chelleini and Alonso, then Parker and Upson could be the cheaper alternatives, I wouldn’t be against it if West Ham swapped Green for Almunia at the same time.
Wenger is up to his old tricks again where he tells us who he almost bought but thought they were too expensive, so Ashley Young at £9mil joins the illustrious list that includes star names such as Ronaldinho, Robinhio, Ronaldo and Torres, thanks for letting us know that you at
least thought about it boss, when I see Song trotting out today terrorising the Villa, I’ll take great comfort at the money you saved
us and get off on his exceptional talent.
Thing is though all festive jokes aside he does have a point, the rest aren’t exactly ripping it this year, so if we do make an astute signing or two then we could be the one’s pulling away on the back nine.
I think we may surprise Villa today, but he must tuck Nasri in the middle with whoever and put Diaby in the hole, and if he doesn’t put a wide man left, he’ll be being predictable, so please boss Vela, Gibbs or Clichy.
We need to win today boys so make us proud and wipe the smug smile off of O’Neil’s boat race.
Great to see so many of you on the blog yesterday a big increase on the 6 comments of 2007, so it was worth doing!
Finally, competition answers!
Who succeeded George Graham as manager? Stewart Houston
When that manager left Arsenal which club did he manage next? QPR
Winner: Mark C
Have a great boxing day Grovers, today we begin the move up the table.

pat this stadium has played a major part in our decline
they said we would move forward so far we have moved backwards
Maybe it has BBK but when you hear the board speak, they say funds are available.
They also said the Stadium would attract the best players and pay the best wages!!!!!
BBK,
He will not. Like I said, he is past his best, but thanks to many trophies he has won us he will be here as long as HE WISHES.
i laugh at that now pat what a complete load of bollocks, these cunts on the board and wenger are living in a different world….
I wouldn’t say it’s the stadium, good players have been replaced by inferior players.
The income the club gets from the new stadium is higher (after all bills paid including the loan repayments) than at Highbury.
exactly maciek he can’t take this club any further his time is up
I just cant explain it Finest!!!!
Is it a failure to admit financial problems from the board
Or a stubborness from Wenger?
Why would you do this to a club if you had the funds available to do so much better
pattheGooner – Even great managers have their downside, and it’s soo sooo easy to find weaknesses when we’re doing badly, but at the same time I remember that’s one of his strengths it’s too easy to point to his mistakes without looking at the whole picture.
proof in the pudding – “We’re shit” – and we’re back to what ? Where we started.
Detriment of the club in the short term maybe.
Was I happy with the squad ? To tell you the truth I would’ve liked us to bring in other players but then what did I expect from the players we have ? What do we still expect ? How many players have been at Arsenal and we’ve written them off after months only for them to prove us all wrong ? How do you rate Walcott ? Who seemed lightfooted last season and scatty with his performances then at the same time went on one of the best runs i’ve seen, if he’d finished that himself it would have gone down as one of the best goals of all time.
Do I feel the players we have are shit ? No, am I annoyed with their inconsistentcy ? Yes, last week Diaby was supposed to have had one of the poorest games ever, this week ? We scored a goal that is reminiscient of us at our best.
If we forget all thats gone before ? Would you be able to put up with what could be ?!
It would have taken a whole lot more than 15 million a season, at the end of the day players would still have left, what we need to remember is that there are other clubs out there that can offer our players better deals.
i would finest they are settling for for second rate crap rather then going for the real ballers. You may say he’s never gone for the big players but as we all know the face of football has changed since the last time we won the league he can’t do it on the cheap any longer
Guys, how many goals have we conceded so far?23?That just shows that we are lacking great cd’s and cdm’s.
i don’t expect fuck all from this lot they have proven this by the current position in the table and also failing to deliver a trophy for 5 yrs now.As for the walcott thing i ask you this KEYSER who would you of rather signed theo or young????????????
In 1991 we conceded only 15 goals in the League. Now it’s more than 20.LOL.
finestcuts – It’s hard to tell, do we know the limitations of our team ? I dunno, we haven’t exactly played two games on the trot with the same team let alone a full first team.
I’d say it is the stadium to an extent, we probably have the same sort of money available but we’re stil on a budget we can’t exceed it without taking a lot of risk.
Teams like United and Chelsea don’t have such limitations. Liverpool have spent heavily but have the name and history to hopefully bail them out.
Lets start with Walcott
Do I rate him?
Ish, I think on his day he is awesome but is as inconsistent as Merson was, Will this change I am not sure but I hope so. You could argue that a similar fee paid to Ashley Young would have worked out better.
How many players have we written off only to prove us wrong? not that many really, in my books and in recent years only Flamini really shocked me, I think you can see at least a bit of potential in players, I just dont see it in Song, Denilson and Diaby. In fact in Diaby and Denilson’s case I rated him more two years ago.
I think we will agree to disagee but I am talking Net and I do believe 15m in the red every summer would have been enough to replace like for at least nearly like. Fuck it would at least have put us in a better position where we are now.
BoyBetterKnow – Would you have paid 9 million for Young when he was at Watford ?!
yes
villa did it and look what they have now
Keyser, I think that is where football managers and scouts come into their own
Would I have known who was the better player Theo or Young…No definately not but that is where you can compare O’Neill and Wenger, they have both admitted admiration for Young and Wenger stated he nearly signed him.
Who was right?
And you will only know the answer to that in about 5 years time.
Theo or Young?
I would not put money on it
Wenger’s answer is the wage structure.
Flamini wanted a pay rise. Wenger refused and decided that Song would be an adequate replacement. During the Arsenal golden era Henry was a regular goal scorer. Adebayor scores goals but can never hope for the same level of skill as Henry.
Rosicky has been injured for almost a year, Wenger wanted to blood Walcott and said he was satisfied with Eboue.
Sol Campbell played a massive part in defence, Gallas is not as good.
Wenger has taken a gamble, he assessed these players to be adequate replacements, by that I mean players who could equal the performance of their predecessors. Unfortunately, now we know this is not the case.
Wenger’s philosophy of experience not being as important as talent is also in question, that only applies to special cases, accross the board it does not. Fabregas flourished with plenty of experience around him, imo that’s partly what enabled him to become so good so quickly, Fabregas had the benefit of being part of a team full of experienced highly talented players, this current crop is expected to do the same without the same support and achieve equal levels of competence. That’s the problem, that the success of Fabregas and Clichy is expected to be repeated and it hardly ever happens, players develop at different speeds and play for teams suited to their current ability, these players have been given an Arsenal shirt by default rather than proving that they are consistent and more talented than their Premier League peers, Song, Eboue and Bendtner being prime examples of this policy.
wenger needs to stop conting the pennys and start worrying about what the player can actually bring he also forgets honours win prize money too
And I think that is right BBK,
Boardroom changes have undoubtadly affected Wenger, He needs to drop the CFO hat and become a manager again.
counting
i just saw wengers interview, i suppose the thing to remember is that he has said similar things at this time since 1996 but usually makes signings anyhow, the worst thing he could do is say what his intentions are as selling clubs will put the price up when he calls.
Having said that if he doesnt sign anyone he can fuck right off.
in may we had 93m in the bank with 31m tied up as security for stadium debt. so 62m or so available. given another 6 months of turnover and the small profits made in the last window there should be 75-80m in the bank.
if he hasnt got the cojones to spend 50m out of that (which dont forget would be paid over 2-3 years) then he should be sacked. if the board wont let him spend that kind of money after hes made a profit on transfers for 5 years now, they should fuck off themselves
WENGER
DON’T KNOW
ANYMORE
EXACTLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GAMBON
And on a side track, is our bad luck on injuries going beyond bad luck?
Is there something we are doing with the Diet, Training or Warm-ups affecting the players. this has been going on for years now, surely it is not coincidence
pattheGooner – In a better position ? Most likely.. Pissing over the league ? Heh, seriously not being rude but whn we’re spending 15 million net and the teams around us 130 million a year, no way.
There is no comparison, teams were interested in Robben at one point, Abramovich came in with a bid almost double the asking price.
We can compare individuals all we like, last year we didn’t have players that could completely turn a game on it’s head they worked extremely hard for each other, it took 3 years to help build that up, if we see slight improvements in all of Denilson, Diaby and Song it’ll go a long way to avoiding goals in injury time against Villa.
Young is 23, Walcott is 19, Capello puts in right in though, so it’s hard to judge, we slate him but I’d have loved him to bring on against Liverpool or 2-0 up against Villa.
i reckon it is the training exercises some of there physical shapes can’t handle the certain drills they go thru quite clearly
but young can give you that in a game not super sub material
Pat, there certainly is something wrong that we are getting so many injuries, especially to key players. It is only our best players that get regularly sidelined, never our worthless players. But having said that- Eboue was injured and Song now is.
Anyone know what happened to JD in the warmup?
Keyser:
“I’d say it is the stadium to an extent, we probably have the same sort of money available but we’re stil on a budget we can’t exceed it without taking a lot of risk.”
Are the risk assessments any different to when the club was at Highbury?
The club has a higher income than at Highbury, if we went by the same standards of acceptable risk as we did at Highbury, I do not see that as taking on excessive liability, the kinds of risks taken back in those days helped the club to achieve trophies and top 2 positions year after year.
Also, players need to prove that they are good, it’s not enough for us to say we can’t prove that they’re not because we haven’t played them in every possible combination for x amount of time. A players basic skills levels as well as analysis of performance by our game analysers and coaches should determine whether players are equal to their predecessors or not, from results we can see they’re not and on an individual basis there are quite a few who are not as skilled and who are not as good decision makers as players who previously occupied their positions within the team. Every player has an influence on the team, therefore having more options, preferably highly skilled players who have proven experienced and have proven their abilities in highly competitive games should be available for selection. Previously that was a key criteria when choosing an Arsenal player, that is no longer the case.
Keyser,
Everyone is talking about Pool and MU nad their debt and that they are finished because they are heavily in red, etc. but I can’t see it. They are still spending 20mln and more and we still are playing with Song and Diaby in the midfield. They will never bakrupt because they always can sell to any other foreign investment. Why we can’t do the same?
id rather be in man u’s debt boast another league title and champs league to go with it
Its strange how our Stadium is apparently affecting our speding because any other team doesnt seem to be similarly affected. Bayern moved to a new satdium a few years back, finished fifth after that and still managed to spend about 60m on Toni, Klose and Ribery!?!?!?!
this stadium is holding back the spending im telling u …there is no room for second rate players if you are to be going for honours it just don’t happen
the league don’t lie and what it does say is at the moment we are the fifth bestteam in the country and still wenger thinks we can win the league lollllllllllllll
We are in a classic catch22 situation.
If we dont spend to save money-we wont get CL football and therefore no CL money.
By not spending we are potentially losing money.
15m net per year is more than enough as a long term figure. that would be 75m of extra talent in our squad now since the invincibles season. when you consider our first xi normally costs 35m or so you cam imagine where we would be now.
We are talking a player a season Keyser maybe two
If those had come in, are you honestly saying we would definately not avoided defeat at Fulham, Hull, Villa, Stoke and Man City?
I am sure with a bit of investment we would have have won at least 4 of those
We can BBK, but the chances are about 999/1.
i just wish this shitty season finishes very soon im already looking to re build in june
Well said Gambon
And that would have been Ribery, Kompany, Villa and Alonso at the very least.
Are you honestly telling me that that would not have made any difference to our trophey cabinet over the last few years. and remember in some of those years we were over 10m in profit so it should be more players.
Stu, Wenger knows all about that, in economics it’s what’s known as an opportunity cost, and you’re absolutely right, failure to invest could cost more than investing and reaping the benefits. If you have a tenner and you do not need to use it, is it better to buy some gold, or keep it in the bank (buy some gold!)?
pattheGooner – I said an improvement, most likely, but walking the league ? No.
15m net ? We keep players like Henry, Vieira and the likes we’d probably have spent the same on wages, also If we really needed to splash out I don’t think we’d have the same sort of cash available,
injuries : I think we do push the limits a bit because we want the extra fitness to show at the end of games, at the same time I think it’s pretty sick how teams are just allowed to kick us about all over the pitch. Agbonlahor today should have got a straight red, he’s a complete and utter cock.
Now I agree with you there Keyser
Teams do get away with kicking us all over the park
But I do think we would be points ahead if we had kept Flamini and Hleb and added o the squad over and above Nasri
And the wage bill does worry me Keyser
I believe we are 3rd after Chavski and Man Ure and that worries me given the age and current skill level of the squad
Stu,
If You bring quality players You can attract many more good players even if You are out of Europe.
pattheGooner – Keeping Hleb, would have mean’t the 15m net being spent, plus the wages it would have taken to keep him over Barcelona, same with Flamini.
I hope it’s because we’ve paid the youngsters handsomely to stay here, if we can keep enough of them together, we could have a great squad of players.
Right that is me guys
Have a good night
Keyser great to debate with you, I know we disagree but if it was not for differing opinions then there would be no point blogging and that is why I love Le Grove.
Sorry last point
agreed on Hleb Keyser that would have affected us in the grand scheme of things, but Flamini was on a pretty poo wage and was only asking for a certain amount. His replacement will cost 15m+ and a lot more on the wage scale.
i would rather have Hlebs wage on the books than be paying out for Song. I honestly believe any penny spent on him is an insult to any fan that pays money into the club.
This squad wont change enough until the manager changes. Thats a fact.
keyser are you suggesting that barca and milan are paying flamini 15m per year more than arsenal offered? that would make him by far the highest paid footballer ever on 320-330k per week.
Swap enough for much. That fits better.
Keyser, you keep saying we have loads of little problems, but the art of management is deciding which problem is more problematic than the other. Sometimes resolving one problem can mask other problems and even make them completely irrelevant.
There’s no point saying we had lots of ‘minor’ problems over and over again because it’s impossible to have a problem free team. You need to be a bit specific. What problems have we got in your opinion?
lol love it today, with Song playing we score two and concede none and everyone’s loving the Arsenal again, then with Song not on the pitch any more Ramsey and pals manage to throw away the lead, so we’re back to everyone hates the manager rather than blame the players on the pitch. Inconsistency from some of the faithful – the sing when you’re winning mentality.
Stu,
You know that it won’t change in the next 18 months? When Weng contract expires we can start a new era the Club but not earlier.
gambon – No gambon, but 15m net is almost the same as not selling Hleb, we just keep him and add Nasri, on top of that we pay his wages maybe a signing on fee, same with Flamini, Henry was supposed to have been paid 10 million in his last year, these things add up.
i may be wrong but in my opinion the real problemis not central midfield so mush it is more the fact the team are lacking any real pace or width,it seams such long time ago whenn we had lumberg and pires, and arsenal are missing playerd of that standerd, nasri will get there but both theo and risisky are injured so there is only nasri. in any case there certin players i think will leave in the summer syslvester, gallas, toure,i dont think cm players are going there doing well.wengers has no choice in my view his chand been forced he will buy cm and a winger no more than 2 players
Paulinho – Heh, no point, why not ? It’s not exactly any different to the other mantras people chant.
Djourou has come in and we’ve dealt a lot better with balls aerially, him and Gallas have seemingly built up a partnership and despite the mistake last week it was actually quite good, if they’ve worked on balls being played in behind during the week it’s thrown out of the window once Djourou gets injured. Toure has been injured and had to come in on a moment’s notice, not perfect but if you look at the goals it was enough.
Zat Knight would probably have been picked up by Djourou or Adebayor, the ball played into Agbonlahor was into the channel Djourou was mashalling last week, we’re looking for consistentcy minus the errors, we made 4 changes from last week plus Song, errors can be ironed out but it doesn’t help when the same players aren’t playing every week.
It’s the same all over the field, we’re a bit of a mish mash of individuals.
What problems did you see ?!
Leon, i would say that defence is the sole reason for our current situation. we could maybe do with a few more goals but they will come with a fit rosicky, walcott, eduardo. i still think one more wide attacking mf would do (arshavin, gourcuff, ribery).
however if you look at the league table we have only scored a few less than chelsea, and more than utd and ‘pool. Our problems are all at the other end, we cant keep cleansheets.
the defensive spine just isnt there. we need a gk, 2 defensive mf’s and 2 cbs, all top quality, think sagna class. we dont really need additional numbers, for every player we sign we should sell one, therefore the wage bill wont escalate.
i would get rid of song, eboue, silvestre & almunia at the very least.
almunia is really starting to piss me off.. his presence is just not felt
oh and sell gallas for sure
Gambon, i agree. But instead of mnaming players to get rid of it would surely be easier to name players to keep. Easily a shorter list. Our entire squad is replaceable. There is noone in our team that is the best in the world in their position. Noone!
Guy the only solution is sack Wenger and get Rijkaard
gambon
i think the defence is doing alot better but gallas at 31 is not going get another contact at arsenal, syslvestor was mearly stop gap is ok,solid but nothing specail he is not wing back he just defender that left footed and at 31 he is on 2 year contact,i toure because it does look as if he going get mush first team chances and when he does he looks poore, but wenger will not anyone go now the squad is small enough as it is,i dont think he might get dm player but song and delinson are improving alot but the is lacking so mush pace and width
When the team is so up and down people are bound to get emotional. Some say silly things and believe that wholesale changes are the answer. My own feeling is that Arsene has been playing fast and loose with the club for a few years now. By that I mean that he is too slow to address problems. Look back at the Invincibles and think about the quality throughout that team. That blueprint has perished on the rocks of youth. There is NO dominant Centre Half, No physical powerful Central Midfielder. No world-class striker (I may make allowance for RVP here, on his day) A club that is going to win things needs all of these attributes. We have no natural wide players without Theo in the team and he’s very up and down. Bendtner is not the answer and neither are Eboue, Denilsen (squad player at the moment), Ramsay (still too young). Gallas has his head out of the door already and Kolo seems to have lost all composure since his bout of malaria. Not much of this is new either and if Arsene doesn’t strengthen this January then we can kiss the season goodbye. My problem is that he is so intransigent and these days slightly petulant, that I really can see him leaving at the end of the season as I doubt he will address the glaring problems that persist. I can remember a time when the idea was that, with the new stadium, Arsenal could become one of the most successful clubs in Europe. Is it me or does that seem a long way off at the moment?, because we now seem to be in a battle for 4th. I find it all quite depressing and more than a little puzzling.
The worst thing about our squad is that Almunia is seemingly vice-captain. That just shows how wek our squad is.
Here a good question. Does anyone here think that Cesc would have gotten the armband if there was a totally fit squad. ie. was he first choice for the captaincy? Or would Wenger have given it to maybe Rosicky instead?
nah stu.. wenger probably didn’t want fab to even think about leaving in the summer…
rosicky.. that man has done absolutely nothing for the club. A fucking class player but he doesn’t play enough games to be a captain.
I agree Choy but i mean if he had been constntly fit and i the team would Rosicky been considered. Getting the captaincy at Arsenal these days means fuck all apparently.
Henry got it and left that season, Vieira left as captain, Gallas was captain and is leaving(surely and hopefully), and i wouldnt be suprised if Cesc left because the club is going nowhere. Hopefully now that Almunia is captain he will leave too. If that continues I would give the armband to Song, Eboue and Ade.
i agree stu… captaincy has become a joke.
fucking almunia as captain… how wonderful..
on that note.. nite stu and all you grovers..
more ranting later
Well Toure was dropped because of poor form, so he probably would played similar, lack of match fitness or not.
No players play every week. Indeed some teams make a point of changing personnel.
The likes of Diaby, Denilson, Song, Toure and Djourou have played eachother more than enough times over the last few years. Wenger has lined them up in meaningless cl games or carling cup games a considerable amount of times – probably to try and build up an understanding should the likes of Hleb leave or Flamini.
It’s open to intrepatation of course but I just don’t think they’re good enough. Some have the ability but not the mentality and some have the mentality and not the talent. I mean, you could go through the West Brom team and say there are loads of little problems, but at the end of they day it boils down to some teams being better than others and players not being good enough.
Being young doesn’t automatically mean a straight line of continual improvement. Just ask Jody Morris, Michael Duberry, and the countless other highly-rated young talents of yesteryear. The players we have at the moment might not improve or show enough improvement to warrant a first team place at Arsenal. It’s Wenger’s job to recognise this point and release them and swallow his pride. Senderos already ruined a few cup competitions before Wenger woke up and sent him on his way.
I think you know what I think we miss this season. Whether it’s realistic to expect another player to replicate that talent is debateable. But we’ve only lost two players in the summer from last season – a season in which we were also constantly chopping and changing – and so those two players must have been extremely important to the team dynamic, or the STRENGTHS of those players were important.
My main point is, having inherently good players make the need for forensical analysis of our problems reduntant for the most part. With good players those problems don’t exist in the first place.
Night Choy. When you awake in the morm=ning we will be 1 day closer to disappointment in the transfer window! Oh Joy!
wenger lost my faith in him running our club in the summer he told us all we were going to get 2 super top class players
HE LIED, AND HAS CONTINUED TO LIE TO US ,I’M PISSED OF LISTENING TO ALL HIS LIES AND SPIN,
AT the end of the season if there’s no trophies he SHOULD BE SACKED ,it has been pionted out he followed this expirement with youth at Monaco ,guess what it didnt work there and they sacked him.
I would say thanks for what you have done ,BUT REMEMBER YOU HAVE HAD THE PRIVALLEDGE OF MANAGING OUR GREAT CLUB .
your time has come to an end ,
the staring team selections of the past weeks has shown that he has lost his edge and as i have said what exactly do they practice on the training ground ,we need a new regime ,from the top through all the coaches and medical staff
RICE ,what does he do?
borac what does he do?
the doctors and physios are so good that over the last two years we have never had so many injuries , so all that expensive medical hardware at the training ground is obviously put to good use .
The sad thing is that the board all live in a cacoon , they dont care what the fans want they nvever have.
We will not be buying anyone in the transfer window.Listen to that muppet Wenger he still thinks we can will the league.Wanker
And while everyone is worried about Villa for 4th place`Everton are just 3 pts behind us.That just showes how far behind we have slipped
Song Eboue and Toure(Fatboy) can fuck off in january
Paulinho – Before this weeks game 6 players, I think, from Villas’ team had played every game in the Premiership, another 2-3 had played all games bar one, this is almost the same team that was present last season, it makes a difference, quite a big one if regulars suddenly go missing. Villa have simple tactics to follow and still..
We pushed Diaby further up the pitch in the second half and for 20 odd minutes turned the game on it’s head after having been dominated by Villa in the first half, as the team tired Villa re-adjusted to end the half.
Against Chelsea we went from a mish mash midfield into one that was disciplined and almost regimental in their display from one half to the next, likewise against Liverpool, everyone knew the others limitations and the space they were supposed to cover, if you watch the reserves there’s an intelligence in the way they play all the little triangles. If they don’t come off right away they will work it out as the team works out the opposition, because several of them have been allowed to progress together.
One game here or there might not be enough for some players, while it may be all other players need, take Henry from the team 2 years ago and we looked like a proper team again, because others who had to defer to Henry and give the ball up were released it could be the same with Fabregas.
Look at last seasons midfield the season before and the season before that, they had individual moments and worked well but not half as well as they did last year, it takes time, it took them 3 seasons and even then Henry had to go before they stepped up.
Everyone compares players to the Invincibles, well none of last years would have made the first team, but together they could have just as much an effect.
We’re not just throwing in one young, inexperienced player, there’s four of them now, yeah we could jump to conclusions but then thats easy, it’s what pundits do, the hard thing is getting them to work tats where Wenger will have to decide to persevere or add to the team
Senderos ruined a few cup compeitions ? We made a final in the Champions League with him working his socks off, but then another year and he makes 2 big mistakes, you can try all you want to predict that but then we wouldn’t have made a final either, he’d have been long gone.
I don’t agree with you about chopping and changing, we had almost a fit squad for the first half of the season and we were ripping teams apart, lose one aspect, fine bring in another even if it’s not quite as ready, lose two players, three and then four and there’s a point where it’s going to take longer than a season to sort out.
You’re right with your analysis, thing is those players had the chance to iron out the problems the two seasons before last, we lost two players in the summer, we lost Rosicky last January, thats 3 of the midfield gone and now the fourth aswell.
NIght all. I’ve calmed down now. Still 100% negative though. What a waste of another 2 points
I don’t think that was a penalty. Gallas got to the ball before alligator or what ever his fuck’n name dropped like a wimp.
And if that turd O’Niell came @ me like that, I’d put two on him before he hit the ground.
So, where are we @ then
Mr Wenger sort out your injuries. Its time to go through the medical/fitness staff with a ‘fine tooth comb” & sack the deadwood. We are getting far to many injuries. Villa have the luxury of putting virtually a full list on the pitch @ we are filling gaps.
keyser…
oh please they hit the post more times than a steel fabricator !
sagna’s clearance from the line , the negativity at the end trying to hold on to 2-1 lead that made us choke ,or just the pure average-ness of us , if you were objective the best team of the night didn’t win …
and im sure your answer and my answer is probably different to the question on who would win ,
but wenger continues to stifle players like vela – jack – if it wasnt for song going off
HuRRAHRRR !!!! ..Ramsey would have never got time on the pitch.. if he isnt going to buy at least get creative , let these kids loose !.. try hurry along dudu ! we were piss poor playing 4-5-1
its shit lose it !
4-4-2
we tried to arm wrestle the in the center of midfeild and looked fucking exposed !
diaby has potential if playing central and should be tried for the rest of the season and when cesc returns , if he cant look good within the rest of the season , off ya go !~
you cant judge on 1 game , but diaby and cesc could work .. but its never tried for the enigma that is called ” SONG”
wenger play a few players in there positions , who knows you might get the best out of them, ??
FFS !
i was totally oblivious to the line ups being the festive season and all , but when i saw EBOUE – SONG – DIABY – DENILSON i knew we were in trouble !
they almost pulled it off good effort but sorry no cigar.
we are 5th placed for a reason … and sinking fast .
After watching last night heartbreaking game it dawned on me nothing has changed on Arsenal front since Patrick Viera….In fact last three years have been same story…Wenger going on blur blur that he would not buy or need anyone. Also all teams have now realized that we are weak that if they keep pushing buttons som ething would give away.
Here is something that best describe wenger today…..One time a car ( Arsenal fc) had to make long journey over 380 miles( EPL) So The Driver ( Wenger) took one look at his car (Arsenal) and declared without looking that everything is okay…When in facts the Tyres (Strikers) needed spare covers. He then looked at wipers (Defenders) he decided they where good enough when in fact in heavy rain they would cause visibilty problems….He then looked at the engine (Midfielders) He decided to remove some parts and did not replace them as he deemed them not worthy for the journey..When in fact they where very important…The Driver ( Wenger) decided to go ahead with the journey…And you can guess that car was wobbly and problematic small problems( Stoke,Hull, Fulham etc) keep causing it stop. Also on long straight freeway the (Driver) made silly mistakes ( odd team choices) which made everything more complex.
Last year we missed Epl due to lack of player covers and defensive Errors….It been two years in a row that wenger has made same mistakes…PLayers like Hleb,Diarra, flamini to name few where sold without any consideration and The manager is very strange if the team are winning few games and someone aproached him on any player in his team who was not playing he would quickly sell the player without looking at the bigger picture…And these is from manager who did everything in his power to keep Jose anotonio reyes despite the player wanting to move….T
Wenger is fast losing the plot and he need to a new challenge away from yes men on board who are overlooking a very chaotic house. Wenger need to take a good look at Arsenal Fc and make remedy needed away from media and fans attentions. He believe is better than any manager who would come in and destroy the foundation leading to Arsenal playing in lower orders. Their is no choice but to go along with him and he need to build a new team with experienced players around promising young ones.. Some of the kids are surely not good enough. He should remember that his job comes first not some emotional attachment to promises made to parents of these kids. I know it not right but most of these kids have graduated with true colours it just they need to cut their careers in other clubs not arsenal.
howard webb is a cunt

Thats not bad, I like it.
He won’t buy though. And thats what frustrates most people who come on here.
…….I don’t reckon he will give Little jacky or Vela Fella a go untill 4th spot or we are out of the Cups is beyond us. Wenger still believes, but, as for me I don’t believe its going to be this year now, sadly, sigh!

I watched that tsunami doco last night, about 11.30pm. shit it was this time of the year. Are you any where hear Phi Phi, etc. A mate of mine was in the water with his kids @ the time in Phi Phi as it was swirling about, going out. They made it to the high ground & watched the waves come in.
UEFA Cup it is, then!

i was in pattaya when it hit .. thats the other side of the land .. theres a strip that got hit .. then a bay .. then me ..
i was protected by the gulf of Thailand . but i think i was in Bangkok that morning ! after a hard night on the tiles ..
it was like christmas day or boxing day or some such , i was holidaying down here at the time ..
david dein kept wenger on his toes, this board are afraid to take him to task, why, because their not real football people, their business people.
paul mc daid
I think you have hit the nail on the head re football people or business people.
business people need to move aside so that football people do their stuff. That is where The Club is @. We on here @ le Grove have suspected this, but, you are right, The Club needs an injection of football people, coz the business people have done all they can do. “Now is the time”
morning all,
a lot of frustration on here last night, and quite understandably so.i wont get into the money debate, because know one really knows the truth, though i feel some money was available in the summer, and for whatever reason wenger chose not to spend.
All good teams are built on a solid defence and an authoritive keeper,we have neither.we have shipped in 21 goals and won 3 out of our last 9 league games.not what one would call encouraging signs.yesterday we had clichy and toure initially on the bench, and djorou’s warm up injurt forced wenger to play an unfittoure and later on the same applied to clichy.
Nasri,is a talent, but only plays well at home, like wine he doesn’t travel well.rvp is not the player to be given the lone striker role, and we are left with sagna, who was magnificent yesterday, clichy and in glimpses rvp as our only good players.we have a multitude of understudies being asked to play as first teamers and we have 2 or 3 who are no better than championship level.
in truth we should have been dead and buried before denilson scored and the misunderstandings between almunia and the defence was plain to see,and at 2-1 all our defensive did was hoof the ball out straight back to villa.where is this beautiful passing game and the quick counter attack. There is no leadership in the side, and i am amazed at some of wenger’s subs.i.e. eboue on the left wing the other day.Forget cesc, rosicky and eduardo and theo for the next 2 months at least, and if we don’t buy at least 3 players in jan,we have a right to question the manager and the board.
I cant believe i stayed up until 5am to watch that game, although it was worth it until the 90th min
Arsene Wenger said that the rest of the top teams haven’t looked untouchable and if we can beat Villa today then we CAN WIN THE LEAGUE!
so does that mean we cant now ???
I’m still pissed off.
1st half they could of scored 5. we go 2 up could easily have scored a 3rd and we concede at the death again. And I’ve had a stinking cold all christmas.
Morning Kelsey:
I was there yesterday, I was a bit brass monkeys thats for sure;
I seriously would want to know in all honestly how Wenger thought this squad was going to compete. Many many of us, who purport to know something about the game, could see this was so understrength, in quality & experience.
Why has it taken til now for Wenger to supposed;y see it.
I believe the board & Wenger haave to take responsibility.
If Wenger shows to take ANY action to start whats needed next month & we finish outside the top 4, then I belive, not withstanding his past record, it will be a terrible derelection of duty. This situation has been going downhill for 3 years, culmination in this ridiculous situation.
This squad & the way it plays reminds me to some extent of Grahams last days in charge.
I bet Wenger get’s charged by the FA. If that red nosed scottish cunt sad the same stuff he’d get away with it.
Doublegooner morning to you as well,
you saw it first hand.am i right in my calling of the game, especially the desperation in defence by just hoofing it up field.where was the midfield, and silvestre at l.b. was a joke.tell me you get a better perspective than we do watching on t.v.
gm,
that is the point we could have been 3 or 4 nil down, not by villa playing well, but by our awful defending.almunia has no command of the box, which unsettles others and he is the fucking captain.i feel embarrassed how we are playing when a year ago we were top of the league.
I cant agree with you more, Keeper just ordinary, never good enough for a top6 team. terrible defence ( except sagna). No Midfield.
As I said, Wenger has left this squad in a terrible state.
Saw a reliable fella yesterday who knows & saw Grimandi recently. His view was ‘Adebayors head has been turned & will probably be replaced, Nasri will be a smashing acquisition & the club was in very good shape’.
That last part is very worrying.
NEW POST!
I don’t think they are business people, they all inherited their money, maybe with the exception of Danny but I’m sure he had a family leg up as well.
They need people in there that understand that if your team wins fuck all, the people will stop going and the next generation will go to the successful side, that’s how the Mancs and the scousers have support.
It’s time Wenger was put in his place, he is an Arsenal manager and not some kind of untouchable god.
Song and Eboue are shit and should be move on somewhere, we need to bring in players that can hang on to a lead and not go to pieces, if Wenger can’t be told then he needs to go somewhere else as I’m fed up with it.
The ref didn’t draw that game yesterday, you did. Shameful team selection.
