Real sign Dolphin head and move the transfer window to December

The Peroni massacre of 2008...

Let’s start with Arsenal old boy Lassana Diarra, yesterday he signed for Real Madrid you all saw the pictures of him in their kit kicking a ball, but did anyone notice it’s still only December 22nd and not January, when of course the window is supposed to be open. …Oh sorry, I forgot, they are Real Madrid, like Chelsea and ManU they have different rules.

So Diarra left us for Portsmouth because he was behind Flamini and he wasn’t having that, now he’s behind 6 Real players, strange fish headed twit. Still we got £5mil as part of the deal, well done Arsene, I would sooner have had either the player or the £20mil that Pompey got but that’s Arsenal for you.

Sadly it looks like Cesc could be out for 3 months, so it’s now we should be buying, not in two weeks time, now, the same names are coming up Inler, Arshavin and Finnan… Finnan?! Yeah I know, that has to be a joke right? I thought that about Silvestre though.

Arshavin interests me, but he’s no Cesc replacement, more of a Rosicky type of player, but at £20mil I would sooner sign Alonso, Barry or Cana and have change. By my simple maths we should have at least £14.5mil from the sell on of Muamba, Bentley and Diarra plus a further £2mil from the sale of Hoyte and that wasn’t even from our transfer budget, it’s bunce, so we can at least buy Alonso.

So add the £25mil from the transfer kitty and we can get some real quality in, I would consider Green, Chelleini, Alonso and Arshavin if not them then Green, Upson, Cana and Villa. Whatever happens we need to spend some money, this is becoming a joke, if he thought we needed no-one before the Rosicky injury then surely with Cesc out he must see we really need some help and that only gets us back to where we were last week, pre the Cesc problem.

Other news is Bendtner for Ribery, that would be an awesome deal, so I can’t see that happening, but whoever we get, we need at least one EPL ready player, we can’t afford to wait 6 months for them to bed in, so maybe a mixture of the above.

The thought of a midfield of Diaby, Song, Denilson and Eboue makes me want to start watching the cricket. How on earth he thinks we can finish in the top four with those jokers fronting the team is totally beyond me, even the worlds maddest AKB must see that as a frightening prospect.

There comes a point in football where you begin to miss-manage a club, like Enron did, like the banks did and like Arsenal are now doing, and by management I don’t mean Wenger, I mean the board, they have now to wake up and smell the roses before we become like Tottenham, it’s not too late and we are now in the new December transfer window, so boys GET THE COMPANY CHEQUE BOOK OUT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

My final point today is this, Mr Wenger says he won’t buy ‘ready made’ as he doesn’t want to kill the kids, so here’s a solution boss, why don’t you play them? I’m sure Vela, Ramsey and Wilshere are as puzzled as we all are as to how Song, Diaby and Eboue are picked ahead of them and if he’s not careful, Jackie boy might go and sign for Chelsea.

Let’s also hope that when Cesc begins his recuperation that they lock him up in a monastery to stop Barca working their evil spells on him.

Buy now Arsene, whilst we still have something to fight for.

Was watching Recista De la liga and they said Barca tabled a 35m bid for Villa. Doesnt look good if we were actually looking towards him. Doubt oWenger would pay that much tho so..

  2. JonJon

the fa are a fucking joke,

webb couldnt even see the first one, how can he book him??

terry rugby tackles someone and gets it rescended, two footed sagna and doesnt get a card,

    appalling

  3. bergkamp

im sure the game we was 2-0 up in and lost 3-2 there was a halftime fatality ,a parachutist accident avenell, and doin dublins big head burried us

  4. wolski7

oops sorry Bergkamp…should have read your post properly…..don’t think he will get way with that…seems every ref looking at it agree with him and they are trying to stamp out those flying tackles

  5. JonJon

im starting to agree with wenger, its a case of lets all kick arsenal and say thats fooball, but when arsenal do it back lets send them off.

  6. ethangunner

can anyone see the similarities between the timing of cesc’s injury and captains appointment , the loss in form ,and now the injury to sideline him for months ,at a time when we all fear he might leave?

    TH14 anyone ?

    scary !

  7. avenell

The geezer who got killed by the team bus was at coventry..

Yea it was 10 years ago.. fuck time flies!!!

30 years ago today we done the Spuds 5-0 at there gaff…. Brady my man!!!

  8. bergkamp

jonjon when we get kicked around they say ‘we dont like it up us’ when we put our foot in against liverpool ade gets red carded, barry fouls 9 times at the emirates before being booked, stoke kick us off the pitch an the ref cant do a thing for the worst challenge because the ball was out of play, they make the rules up as they go along, referrees are the only consistent thing in football, consistently inconsistent

  9. chozzer

Avenell – i remember singing Silent Spurs on the Park Lane 30 years ago. One of the best days of my life.

The tea bag thing was from a comment on Wrighty7′s blog. Penultimate post.

  10. JonJon

and refs say they deserve respect, what a fucking joke.

its always been a hard job, the only differance is now that the ref thinks hes the most important man on the pitch and everyone comes to see him.

  11. bergkamp

thank god for the property debate, dug me out of a hole,my opinions were under siege and i was accused of being the fire starter

  12. JonJon

    avenell your quiet pal,

i seen your mate was on earlier on his box. has he taken your breath away with his unmatched knowledge of our club???

  13. avenell

Chozzer Yea good day my mate fainted when we scored the third goal and he went for some fresh air…. Just as the shelf emptied out and came around for a row up… :)
We found him shitting himself on Northumberland Park station..

  14. kelsey

    avenell,bergkamp,
i was right then for once :)

that 5=0 was awesome,i watched it the other night on arsenal t.v., as you say brady was awesome.

  15. JonJon

i was trying to help you out bergkamp but i was at work, i couldnt keep up with it all,

tried to get in the odd comment though. ;)

  16. bergkamp

were all in here at each others throats and talkin about declarin an emergency and wenger still says were in the title race lol

  17. bergkamp

thats an idea, the american will make sure an afc first aid kit is on sale now,you should calim copyrite for that jonjon the afc first aid kit

  18. bergkamp

it includes a signed theo shoulder brace an a bottle of eduardo no nails and a thomas rossicky tested out of order sign

  19. ethangunner

    berkamp

    don’t blame the ref , ffs !
your just looking for excuses for arsenal’s poor performances !
this liverpool team was shit .. the gerrard torres partnership was exposed !& like they say when there both not on the pitch they lose ! and any other arsenal team over the previous 11 years would have beaten them HANDS DOWN like this at home !

and if it wasnt for your man RVP we would be sucking down another 1 point ! or 3 points if ade had anything more to do with it ! (red carded you clumsy fucking twat ! )

the ref should of never had that bigger influence on the game .. we should of put them down like a fucking stray dogs ! that they were that night !

last years team with dudu in it would have sunk them , just as the invincibles would beat them with both hands tied behind there backs !

our consistency is shit! ..that’s Priority number 1 !
we played well over all , but AGAIN! lack of finishing power OVERALL
,it allowed them to say within reach …

RVP good fucking strike! more of the same thanks ! show ade what we expect of a Arsenal marksman.. i know most of you have forgotten what ONE looks like !
you would do far better if the midfield stopped concentrating on feeding ade !
Concentrate on RVP ! he will get 1 a game ! im sure …

Ade is better as a predator anyhow ! he scores goals to prove the point to the fans …that he’s good !

Its best the club starts giving him the shits ! stir him up ON HIS FORM only then will he answer with goals , oh and when he wants a pay rise :)
if he put in more effort in,like last season maybe id get off his back !

  20. bergkamp

i think if we dont sign anyone in january we should all put a tenner in and have a le grove arm wrestling contest, the winner can use the procedes to start an afc transfer fund

  21. bergkamp

wenger will get the ouija board out tonight an ask satan who the new captain should be,an also if he knows any good teenagers who deserve 20k a week

  22. avenell

Sorry for the duplicate it wasn’t that good.. Her indoors as mashed the computer up with her bloody photo album..
I have to turn it off every 30 mins to speed it up again…

  23. bergkamp

i bet a few players log on here an have a rite laugh, little jack will probably meet up with ade down the spearmint rhino in a couple of hours an say that jonjon an bergkamp geezer are a right pair of mugs

  24. avenell

Or an Arsenal monopoly set so we can put up houses, Storey and Helder can go to jail and cole can meet in a hotel we put up in mayfair..

The boot would have to be pink!!

  25. Stu

If a player says he wans to leave a club and said club stop playing that player shouldnt his price go down? Because Arshavin has done exactly that but i think £20m is a bit much for a 27y.o. who is forcing his way out of a club.

  26. avenell

We will need a extra log shaker for the dice as we will have to sit a long way from the board…

Is that how the row started Begkamp us discussing the shape of the pitch?

  27. ethangunner

    avenell
Christmas toys bought ! tree lit , ill probably paint the house in gloss over Christmas :)

me and mark c are still buddies .. we agree 90% of the time ..
im behind him with his thoughts on the football … but i know the amount of money this would cost and i tell ya you add this cost to the studium , and you have a tidy bit of change to find and pay every money .. the interest alone is 58 mil in 2 years ! thats without paying it off !
you’d want to pump all the money in you can to get on top of it ..

the main concern is the credit crunch and can people still afford them .. (tell me about it )
trying to sell property currently anywhere sucks ..

and it will make more and more pull out as time goes on …
and it will possibly happen , the building industry is first to go south in a Recession and the last to come back to north also ! .. if you currently have money tied up in buildings currently you should be FUCKING concerned , i am !

but avenell but the economy will come back and arsenal will reap what the sow .. only thing is money is being used to pay a stadium and some sort of payment on the development , i think we would both agree spending is limited ..
    it shows in wenger ,
and the clubs reluctance to snap wenger out of it ..
the board are happy supporting wenger on his plan ! ..

this was topic 1A!! at a board meeting i bet ya …., wenger had the idea to trade in this manner , for the next 4-5 years and still do the magic act by making us competitive .. effectively becoming the dictionary description of a SELLING CLUB , and keeping the best players for us ..
sell the rest and turn a profit .. not hampering ANY club funds which were obviously going to be tight to non existent !

a few years have passed, the pressure is now on .. the board come back to wenger and say weve got a bit for you to spend NOW ~as fizmzn and PHW have been putting 1 quid away every day for the past 4 years under there bed to buy the golden ticket … and you now have some money !!!!…

wenger now by this stage ..is insane enough to believe what he has done has been working …
and dont need the hand out after all this time …let me prove to you it works ..(er it doesnt !)….. song is most improved ..remember !

    FFS !

up to last season , and keeping TH14 hleb and flamini & i might have agreed with you that it works !

in principal, over all ,last season wasnt now bad!!!

    on reflection :)

  28. bergkamp

it was said that the pitch is too far from the fans ave, thats the reason were so poor , surely wenger should have spotted this in the design lol, altho i did mention the yankees stadium at some point before that

  29. avenell

I was wondering if that little “R” with the circle around it after a logo had a copyright the other day.. If not I was going to look into copyrighting it!!!

  30. bergkamp

i think 20 mill for him is harsh bigtime stu,its the thing that he is 27 an no one had heard of him till a year ago bit that suprises me

  31. bergkamp

yeah the fans in wembley would have been closer jonjon, wembley for an evening game is the worst thing, when we did the chapions league games there it was such a bad move, thats why i think we were toyin with the wembleyidea when we played our cl games there

  32. ethangunner

    U too mark C …

lets hope we can roll them on boxing day …
it will be a miracle …

Too many injuries again … HELLO WENGER ?

  33. avenell

Rio going to be watchin his fav christmas film the great escape.. Where he tunnels out of the Man U training ground..

  34. Mark C

ethan – can things get any worse?

One point I would make, are we now a 1 man team – Fabregas out, and our heart beat has gone?

He was the face of new Arsenal in the era after Henry, but I thought Wenger was trying to stop the one man team.

If you take Ronaldo out of Man U for 4 months, will they struggle, have they got Messi on the bench waiting to replace him?
If Liverpool lose Torres out have they got Eto on the bench just in case.

    NO.

You cant ALWAYS replace players with like for like players in quality.

However the thing that gets me, is we have 52 professionals on our books, and we CHOOSE to allow 8 of them to go out on loan, and there is talk of that number increasing. The balance is clearly wrong, and Wenger needs to spend the next 18 months to correct that, starting with Jan.

  35. Eddy

    Don’t mean to be pessismistic but if the Arsenal midfield line up at Villa reads;
    Diaby(wide left)Song,Denilson Nasri(wide right)we are in my opinion conceeding a lot of attacking impetus before the game starts.Arsene please give us;
    Wilshire,Denilson,Ramsey and Nasri.
Atleast there would be a better balance and attacking flair in there.

  36. ethangunner

    mark C

Fabregas out, and our heart beat has gone?…. my personal response would be YES !
and like pedro said no loss whilst he’s been captain .. it must effect morale surely ???

    RE: 1 man team .
Yes but henry just rose too the top .. he expected more of ‘last years’ team !!!!!…
can you imagine how he would act this year…fuck… hahaha :) ???

but we needed him ! he was beyond any player ! he was like bergkamp !
cant get rid of him …. he’s arsenal too the end ..
and whats worse henry is coming good there now …

but more on this one man team thing .. i think every team in the world is like that , it just depends how much
the talent of the players surrounding them have … our players compared to cesc look average.
but anelka compared to deco ???

or gerrard compared to torres ?

    ronaldo compared with giggs ?

but theres always going to be raul’s and ronaldo’s ,ronaldinho .henrys ,bergkamps …
Who stands out in any team .. kaka, cesc ,villa ,ruud . and the list goes on ..

these players are unqestionably better than taking a gamble on youth ..

thats how much the epl has changed ! we require this sort of GRADE OF TALENT
it takes too long to develop young players who may never be ready …so far .. its not working !!!!

we cant keep gambling like this ! Not our club ! Were too good for that !
we aint bolton !!! we require a talent injection of horse syringe proportions :)

wenger i believe … will get talent in if he is free to spend !
he knows a good player , as we saw his choices on new signings in the summer just gone .
arshavin , alonso Inler .. and initial queries on villa shows me wenger is interested and still has an eye for talent .. ! (so theres some hope :) ) im sure he looked at kompany also , as he did come out and clarify he is now no longer interested in Kompany ..

unusual statement unless theres some element of truth behind it .
those things confirm wenger knows a good player STILL! , and now the ribery interest .
if funds are freed up then im sure we could get a ribery style buy .. a rosicky who isn’t constantly injured !

but thats also another point, 1 in every 2 important players are injured !

so even if we get 2 players IN , the odds are 1 is always injured !
and hope they adapt quick enough also …

not fun times for the next 3 months – fans and AFC !
if wenger gets only 1 or 2 names i cant see us turning this ship around this season ..
i fear for C.L football ! and im sure the board feel the same !!!

they know the cash they can be missing out on !
that alone might make them gamble on spending bigger than normal !
i think most fans can fell it and fear it ..

    losin it i mean :)

  37. ethangunner

    eddy

id throw jack in for cesc , go with song – denilson/diaby if jack dont work, but give him 45 minutes … , i think you will loose little in sub’ing jack for cesc … he will be eager to surprise you if given 1 opportunity this season !!

every time i watch jack you can see class cant you ?
i know its his contract status wenger is worried about ..
he is trying to keep a lid on him !
because he cant sign a pro contract til 18 .. so wenger fears chevski sniffers !

  38. JonJon

    Ethan,

i agree with you about wenger hiding jack

but jack can sign at 17, and its his 17th on new years day, im sure we will see alot more of him in 09

  39. ethangunner

    jonjon

lets hope they lock him in on a 7 year deal !
    a cesc deal :)

he should be taking over for cesc then ! give him the reigns 5 days early ..
let him try and take over … he’s got the drive to make it his , and give us some much needed
competition for 1st team spots ! i fear he is a bit fragile but he has quick feet .. besides he is the real pass master !

see the ball jack threaded thru for the 1st goal V portsmouth reserves !

    like cesc last year ..

    he is ready ….
with some nik-b style time on the pitch jack would have secured a regular start by now !

  40. JonJon

agreed ethan, jacks a star in the making, he needs to play, hes good enough.

with this il bid you all a goodnight, popping down to local, the mrs is pissed and dancing on the tables without me.

if i dont speak to you before xmas, i wish you all a safe merry xmas gooners.

  41. Paulinho

Ethan, that was Merida who set up the first goal.

Merida, Ramsay and Wilshere. Three players who can have the quality to bring something to the table.

I say go 4-5-1 for a bit and bring Nasri central.

  42. ethangunner

ok paulinho yes your right ….
it was ! … but you get my meaning .. you only have to watch a jack utube video to get the drift ..
he has the class to not do i shabby job i feel .. throw in ramsey keep denilson and nasri , even vela and make it work …

wenger is going to have start backing either jack – rambo – or vela shortly id say….

    very shortly ..

  43. Paulinho

The problem is he is 16 years old and a short arse, defensively he would struggle big style.

It might work if we play a tight three man central midfield and have him on the tip of it roaming around creating havoc…..

  44. Eddy

Ethan,I don’t quite get your theory re “hiding Jack away until he is 17 or 18″as if we can’t sign him up on professional terms then Chelsea can’t!And Arsene wasn’t exactly slow in coming forward with his praise for Jack after the Wigan game claiming”that he should be fast tracked to the England Under 21′s..”these are not the actions or words of a man that is trying to keep the news of the ability of one of our player’s quiet! The sad truth is that at the moment he would rather play a rather sterile formation which allows the “more experienced players”play out of position than risk Ramsey,Wilshire and Vela….if that prick Bendtner gets another chance at Villa infront of Jay Simpson or Velaa nd fucks up again,I think Arsenal fans have every right to let Arsene know what they think.

  45. ethangunner

    paulihno

his skill on the ball and in passing would make him such an important figure in the center , his distribution is beyond comprehension for this age, and weight class ..

i think he would do more than fine unless you play a team of thugs , like bolton or any other… hull – stoke style side .

  46. ethangunner

    eddy

i think wenger is scared he could sign for the chev’s or man U if enough cash was thrown at his feet!
he will be the next England superstar , im sure of it … sometimes praise doesn’t work if obscene money is put in front of you .. money you couldnt turn down , flamini ?

he is keeping him under raps until his 17th birthday like jonjon said .

  47. Doublegooner

    Re: Wilshire

Anyone heard any rumour that we have paid Wilshire / his family a large ( upto £5m ) in advance payment so that he stays & signs the long term contract when he’s 17.

Also, he & his family were West ham fans.

Interested if anyone has any info.

  48. Rob From Aus

“It is a blow [to lose him] of course, but we can show we have the strengths to deal with it. Of course it is a blow to lose Fabregas in the middle of the season – for four months – but it is a good opportunity to show we can deal with it and have the needed strengths.”

This isnt a good thing to read either!!! That means no new added players and Fucking Song that cunt will get more game time!!

  49. Doublegooner

    Rob Aus:

You also dont want to hear Wenger telling us that if he doesnt sign anyone its not a major problem as he has resources at the club.

  50. Paulinho

I agree with you Ethan, on the ball no problem and a massive step up from Denilson or Diaby. However he can easily be bypassed and he would probably lack the stamina to keep tracking back and marking runners, he would be too knackered to create plays after a while.

On the ball though, you could argue the whole reserve side is better than the first team. Merida, Wilshere….even Ramsay and Randall, can see a pass and paint a pictures that the first team can only dream of..

It’s funny, the reserve side has what the first team lacks and the first team has the power but lacks the finesse…

    Why doesn’t Wenger combine them?

    Wilshere Song Ramsay Merida
    Nasri
    RVP

An Alex Song in there could provide the presence that they need. The rest would compensate for his shocking lack of technique!

  51. ethangunner

    DG
im convinced of it too . goodbye C.L !
that news must wake the board 1/2 up too ?!

    MONEY !

but is 2 players only!.. enough ?
i cringed at alumina … like i did at jens in the final days here !
don’t get me started on our strikers …
our midfield is officially shot down to shreds ..
a lot of people are calling out for more classy players in the defense .
i personally think johan is coming good ! but
    theres holes everywhere ..

  52. Rob From Aus

we need midfielders bad! Not AW comments like we have adequate cover, beacus ethe meadia is taking the piss at that comment! in a way this Cesc injury could be a blessing in disguise or simply our demise!

  53. Eddy

Sorry to labour the point Ethan but any scout from any half decent club would know about Jack.he played in a reserve team match a season ago against West ham where all eyes were set be on Freddie Sears but everyone ended up talking about Jack Wilshire. It makes sense therefore that Arsenal would have done everything in their powers to make sure his “head wasn’t turned “by any other interest from a richer club than us(there aren’t that many out there)whether this meant making sure his family were alright for 5 bedroom houses I don’t know! But you have to think,he is not playing for Everton like Wayne was so any offer by another club would be easier to resist by Arsenal.Which makes me think of 2 things Ethan are you sure that Arsenal aren’t able to offer him professional papaers at 16 because Fabrigas was lured from Barcelona(much to their dismay)and given a professional contract by Arsenal before he was 17 Iam sure and Wayne Rooney was 16 when he scored against us and 17 Iam sure when Everton accepted £28 million for him from Manchester United,so under your assumption regarding the miinimum age you sign professionally for a club then how can Everton sell a player that hasn’t signed for them?.Please enlighten me!

  54. ethangunner

paulinho ramsey and even jack if given some pitch time would advance faster than song or even denilson .. its good to have back up …

but wenger could have 3 of the starting 11 of his team on the bench and not even know it ..

jack – ramsey and vela ..

vela hasnt been given a real chance ! NIK B HAS ! so fuck off for this season ..
go sing some karaoke with gallas and get high ! your benched or even worse going to WBA !

like i said in yesterdays post give vela the chances niks had ,& what do you think the outcome would have been ?

ill tell ya, either ade or RVP are on the bench …

  55. ethangunner

    Eddy

Sorry to labour the point Ethan..

no probs at all ed !
yes but the vital question even on our lips are can he make the step up to the EPL ? the big dogs ? ? is he good enough now ?
wengers been holding off on the step up , because of the contract , like jonjon said earlier and i also believe , is we will see him after the new year come on ! once wenger has the papers signed .

    theo mk II

  56. Eddy

Paulinho you talk sense re combining the stamina of Eboue and the skill of Ramsey can’t we buy some sort of contraption they used in the film “the fly”so we get a mix of the 2 although I don’t imagine Ramsey would be too happy if he inherited too many of Eboue’s attributes apart from his stamina ie his perpensity to dive and become the pantomime villian etc

  57. ethangunner

    Rob From Aus

whats your feelings on rosicky ?
    get rid of him ?
    awaiting his return ?
more and more people are saying he wont play again for us ?!
i dont have many feelings about it myself ..
but if i think i know wenger he will get him back playing 1st and give him 6 months to prove himself or be sold .

  58. Rob From Aus

    ethan:

Its a hard one, i would keep him, purely because he is a quality player who made a difference everytime he played, However i dont think we can wait on a player who is consistantly out all the time.

So i would say we mite as well wait, another injury tho and we cut him in july.

  59. Eddy

Ethan mate if young Jack is “to become Theo mark 2″….I guess we can look forward to him flitting in and out of the team for a couple of years before finally finding some form and confidence whereby he disclocates his collarbone for the 2nd time!I know it is labouring the point but on one hand you are saying that Arsene is holding him back to protect the preying eyes of our richer rivals from seeing his precoscious talent and offering him a better contract then on the other you go on to question whether he is good enough to step up?As you know if you are good enough you are old enough in some respects as Cesc has shown us but you can’t have your cake and eat it ie if he isn’t good enough then nobody will want to buy him!Iam signing off now but tend to agree on reflection with Paulinho that the introduction of a younger, less physically adept Wilshire may well have to tempered by an even more cautious role from Alex Song!

  60. Paulinho

Eddy, you mean Song? That’s who I’ve got in there.

When I look at the reserves I see all the talent but lack of physical presence and bulk to help win the battle and give the ball players the platform. Song, for all his faults, can win a tackle and bully players when he wants to, like he did on Sunday when we went down to ten, swatted players away….

Randall would have to be the one to give way I suppose, however he is not bad and one could make a case for him getting ahead of Ramsay based on the last reserve game.

Anyway, I honestly don’t know why Wenger doesn’t try that midfield out. It’s better than the borefest of Eboue, Diaby, Denilson.

Forget about Vela, he’s another talent that’s been shunted out to pasture. Throw him in there as well with Merida and Wilshere. More the merrier :)

It’s not as if Diaby, Denilson have shown they are mature, proven players who can be relied upon. They’re still pissing the bed and in need of nappy’s like the rest of the gang!

Why not go with the talented bed wetters?

I reckon alongside a more experienced and defensive minded midfielder denilson could become a decent player. Only problem is he’s too similar to cesc

what im saying wenger doesnt want him to play … yet!
he is keeping the car under the cover until he has paid for the insurance ..

fuck i know he is already!! many clubs probably have the notion too !
but by not playing him on the big stage yet none of the prospective buyers can 100% tell if he is still a work in progress .. or a finished product …

and its not like our best players dont leave us every year is it ?

Denilson and Song have something in common now. That being that they have forgotten their original posotions.

Eboue was originally a RB and a damn good one too but Wenger has since tried and failed to concert him into a winger(left or right) or a center midfielder. Because of so much change Eboue showed that he is a poor midfielder and as we saw against Porto he has now forgotten how to play in defence.

So he went from being a good enough right back to displace Lauren to so shit that he doesnt even have a best position anymore. Wenger has ruined what could have been a top full back.

Denilson similarly showed a lot of promise in his early days but the longer he was here he still rarely played. Then this season, after being a proper CM-neither predominantly defensive nor attacking, Wenger decided that Denilson would partner Cesc therefore being the defensive one.

Many people say that Denilson should be Cescs understudy because they are so similar but on Sunday when Cesc went off and Denilson came into the middle. Deni has forgotten wht it is to play the playmaker role tha Cesc “ownes” and therefore didnt attack in the way he should.

Eboue and Denilson have forgoten how to play their most suited roles by being forced to play elsewhere. So whats Songs excuse then?

    Re: Wengers future;

Sometimes I feel wrong or disresctful suggesting he maybe have gone as far as he can.

    My real worry which I voiced over the last few days is regarding transfers;

Other than Sagna what other signing has he made in the last 4 years has been the finished article ?

All the others are is still work in progress with no 100% guarantee to be the finished article ??

I ask this because I’m struggling. Remember, he wanted to spend £13/15m on that big heavyweight lump Baptista, which thank fuck fell through & only then to have a 2nd lucky escape seeing how shite he was on loan !

    DG,

Rosicky was the finished article. He was a full international, held in high regard and a ear or 2 before we bough him for about 9m(?) Liverpool had a bid of about 15m rejected.

Eduardo, although in a relatively weak leaue was a finished article. He can still get better obviously but he was about 24 at the time. Not a lot more learning left after 24, more to do with experience after that imo.

Thats really about it tho unless you count Gallas, Silvestre and even Hleb to a certain degree was basically a finished articel but he took a long time to fully adjust to the EPL and again gain good experience that comes with age.

I don’t think Denilson ever showed any real promise as a cesc alternative. Even last season paired with Gilberto he showed little inclination or ability to replicate the sort of role Fabregas plays for us. He just plays the same regardless of who is playing next to him. I call it the ‘nothing role’ ;)

I agree with Eboue but change of position or not he was stalling regardless and seemed to be deteriorating.

Song was played centre back a few times as mentioned above and I would call that a better excuse for not performing than Denilson has got. I also think Song has done okayish, he’s still not good enough but he can tackle and shows strength at times. I would choose him ahead of Denilson anyway.

The overriding sentiment is that none are really ready yet. Diaby as well. Fuck, Wenger did buy good lot of mediocrity didn’t he? His talent spotting ability went AWOL with those set of players.

Choy, whatever he is on its too much. He should be on 10-20k at most considering his age, performance levels and place within the squad.
