The Peroni massacre of 2008...
Let’s start with Arsenal old boy Lassana Diarra, yesterday he signed for Real Madrid you all saw the pictures of him in their kit kicking a ball, but did anyone notice it’s still only December 22nd and not January, when of course the window is supposed to be open. …Oh sorry, I forgot, they are Real Madrid, like Chelsea and ManU they have different rules.
So Diarra left us for Portsmouth because he was behind Flamini and he wasn’t having that, now he’s behind 6 Real players, strange fish headed twit. Still we got £5mil as part of the deal, well done Arsene, I would sooner have had either the player or the £20mil that Pompey got but that’s Arsenal for you.
Sadly it looks like Cesc could be out for 3 months, so it’s now we should be buying, not in two weeks time, now, the same names are coming up Inler, Arshavin and Finnan… Finnan?! Yeah I know, that has to be a joke right? I thought that about Silvestre though.
Arshavin interests me, but he’s no Cesc replacement, more of a Rosicky type of player, but at £20mil I would sooner sign Alonso, Barry or Cana and have change. By my simple maths we should have at least £14.5mil from the sell on of Muamba, Bentley and Diarra plus a further £2mil from the sale of Hoyte and that wasn’t even from our transfer budget, it’s bunce, so we can at least buy Alonso.
So add the £25mil from the transfer kitty and we can get some real quality in, I would consider Green, Chelleini, Alonso and Arshavin if not them then Green, Upson, Cana and Villa. Whatever happens we need to spend some money, this is becoming a joke, if he thought we needed no-one before the Rosicky injury then surely with Cesc out he must see we really need some help and that only gets us back to where we were last week, pre the Cesc problem.
Other news is Bendtner for Ribery, that would be an awesome deal, so I can’t see that happening, but whoever we get, we need at least one EPL ready player, we can’t afford to wait 6 months for them to bed in, so maybe a mixture of the above.
The thought of a midfield of Diaby, Song, Denilson and Eboue makes me want to start watching the cricket. How on earth he thinks we can finish in the top four with those jokers fronting the team is totally beyond me, even the worlds maddest AKB must see that as a frightening prospect.
There comes a point in football where you begin to miss-manage a club, like Enron did, like the banks did and like Arsenal are now doing, and by management I don’t mean Wenger, I mean the board, they have now to wake up and smell the roses before we become like Tottenham, it’s not too late and we are now in the new December transfer window, so boys GET THE COMPANY CHEQUE BOOK OUT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.
My final point today is this, Mr Wenger says he won’t buy ‘ready made’ as he doesn’t want to kill the kids, so here’s a solution boss, why don’t you play them? I’m sure Vela, Ramsey and Wilshere are as puzzled as we all are as to how Song, Diaby and Eboue are picked ahead of them and if he’s not careful, Jackie boy might go and sign for Chelsea.
Let’s also hope that when Cesc begins his recuperation that they lock him up in a monastery to stop Barca working their evil spells on him.
Buy now Arsene, whilst we still have something to fight for.

fuck can’t wait for the villa game…
lol stu.. first teamer on 10-20k!! hehehe
Hey Choy:
Lets just say he has just bought a house for top $$ at £1.1m, that was on the market for 2 years that no one wanted !
He even bought it without ever seeing it cos his wife wanted it ! All at 21 & a fucking average player at best.
hey dg.. hows it going..
3 big signings otherwise we will end up with nothing!!! again! if we don’t sign anybody and are still struggling when cesc returns he will leave in the summer! there is no one in this team that has shone for me this season, other trophyless seasons we have still had players playing world beating stuff but this season no one individually i could say has been GREAT! we have had some good contributions from nasri and van persie but apart from that every player in our team from song to fabregas has been poor !!
Guys, I would have kept Rosicky. I think that we owe him this.Yes, he is earning about 55000 per week, but he really cares and he is a modern professional. I think, that he will be better central midfielder/playmaker than Cesc in our side. I would played him there when he recovers. My dream midfield:
Turan Rosicky Cana Arshavin
(Theo) (Nasri) (Parker) (Jack,Nasri)
Michael,
I would say at LEAST 3 signings. I think that we need a gk,2 cd’s, 2 cdm’s, 2 wingers. But it will never happen. And many people here thinks that we need another striker. That’s just show that we are an average team at the moment.
Maciek,
where is Cesc, Merida etc?
I dont think we owe Rosicky anything. If anything he owes us because we have been paying him high wages (in terms of our wage structure, he hasnt played in a year yet he stills get paid the same amount whether he plays or not. IMO players should be payed in line with games… but fifa/uefa would never go for that because it would benifit Arsenal and we all know Platini cant have that happening.
i agree maciek but the thing that frustrates me the most is that man united, chelsea and liverpool are all playing shit at the moment! if we got a little run goin we could still make a title challenge but with the sqaud we have currently got we can’t even put TWO wins together ! let alone enough to challenge
jermaine pennant has missed out on a move to real madrid because his wage demands were too high pahahahahahahhahahahaha
Stu-don’t shoot me but-I would sell Cesc.I love him as a player and as a human being in general, but to me he is too slow, and I miss our old days when we were dostroying teams playing counter attacking style and creating something out of nothing. For this sort of play, Rosicky and Nasri would be far better choice. But we still need at least one cd, cdm, a winger and a classy striker(but Robin and Dudu can do the job). Just my opinion. What do You think?
Yes Michael,
SPOT ON. They are dropping many points and playing badly. Just think where we would have been with Flamini and a typical winger and central defender. But Wenger will never learn. That’s how You end up paying small money and buying cheap players and not a quality ones.
Why would I shoot you for that. Its just your opinion, your entitled to it.
I see what you mean but Cesc being slow isnt bad. Vieira wasnt that fast, nor was Edu or Parlour. Cesc has a fast mind that can keep him ahead of those around him. Bergkamo wasnt fast but was smart, just like Cesc but to a different degree.
We all realise that Cesc will leave one day but if we have a shit season without him and Wenger does nothing then his departure might be earlier than many want. Merida has been tipped to be far better than Cesc and I wouldnt be suprised if he was. But Fran still hasnt gotten his chance, maybe with Fabregas out this could be his chance.
Yes Stu, but something is WRONG with this team. I dislike United , but they have many fast players and with only 3-4 passes they can create a chnce. On the other hand-we can’t do that. We can only score from our positioning play, which isn’t as great as it used to be back in the golden years of Henry, Bobby, etc.
Stu,
As for Cesc injury- we will end up with Diaby or Denilson playin in his position and Ramsey one the wing. You know Wenger. This all young players policy is a fat lie. He has his favourite players( Diaby, Song, Denilson) and he always will play them.
Ok, I’m off. Night guys!
I might be a lil crzy but how bout we get someone like Bellamy? I know he’s an ex-scouser but he’s got quality and speed on the wings.
If you’re a professional footballer then you’ve already won the lottery. And a story about a mega-rich playboy footballer winning the actual lottery would be enough to make me vomit. But in Mario Martinez’s case, we can maybe make an exception.
He might be a La Liga Primera Division player, but the Numancia midfielder – famous for scoring the winner in Numancia’s 1-0 win over Barca this season – is apparently the poorest paid player in Spain’s top division. According to Sid Lowe anyway.
“For Mario, boys and girls, is poor. Not proper poor – he doesn’t rattle a tin at passers-by, drink Meths or shout incoherently whilst slowly soiling his slacks – but football poor.
For Mario is the worst paid player in primera. He’s got the carefully crafted spiky front and mullet back combo, he’s got a red Audi, and he’s got the CK boxers, tight Versace T-shirt and gold chain but he lives at home with his little brother and his mum, who runs the local false leg and fake hip emporium.
He gets paid €120,000 a year. That’s 83 – eight-three – times less than Raúl, 75 times less than Samuel Eto’o … Thierry Henry earns more in a week – almost twice as much more, in fact – than Mario does in a year.”
Recent figures in Marca actually put that figure closer to €200,000 per year. So he’s not Tiny Tim, but he’s still – as Sid Lowe put it – football poor.
So here’s a Christmas tale to warm your hearts: Yesterday Mario Martinez more or less doubled his annual salary when he won €150,000 on the Spanish Christmas lottery.
“I never play the lottery except the Christmas one because it’s especially exciting,” he told Marca.
The win doesn’t mean Martinez will be shopping for Christmas presents at the same stores as Raul, Henry, Eto’o et al. But it at least it proves that there’s some fairness left in the world. If only for people who are already extremely lucky and well paid in the first place.
Maybe he should try to sign for us, hes clearly better than Song and i’ve never seen him play. Want a quick pay day? Get in good with Wenger.
Fiorentina are continuing talks with Sporting Lisbon for midfielder Miguel Veloso.
The Viola could pull off the transfer coup of the January market in landing the talented Portugal international, who came close to signing for Manchester United and Arsenal last season.
“The negotiations with an Italian club are still continuing,” agent Paulo Barbosa told calciomercato.com. “There could be important news from them after the holiday season.”
Say it aint so Wenger, Say it aint so!!!
Someone made an excellent point…even when we had flamster we still had problems defending….was it the Toure/Gallas partnership? Maybe…but the fact is Toure is a great defender and so is gallas….but they dnt play well enough together in big games…is gallas so great a player that he makes the likes of Toure and Senderos ultimately become shit?
If we are selling Toure then we should get at least 35 mill for his services….City have the money. I dnt think Toure wants to leave but i wnt say no to 35 mill.
Realistically yes to Pato…yes to Xavi….yes to Cana…yes to Chillieni and yes to Arshaving
Thats 5 players. Thats almost half a team….
Pardon me….and a Goal Keeper as well!
We need half a team!
I think we should just concieve the fact that we problably wont win anything this year…however…what we should be focusing on is getting consistency in our game for next season…we have defensive issues with set pieces and long balls….The Keane goal was incredibly inept/unintelligent…and to think that ALmunia could and shouldve saved it. Same with the Gabby goal for the Villa game.
I agree with QoS….players who arent cup-tied…but to do this…we need players nobody has heard offf…
I know there are so many differences between each team but people calling for big players should just look at Zenit. Im just picking Zenit as an example, Shakhtar could also be used as could a lot of teams.
Aside from Arshavin and Danny (who both only recently became known they are effectively made up of nobodies. And yet they won the Uefa cup playing great football, because they were well drilled and organised and played for each other, plus were all very neat on the ball.
atm Arsenal are the complete opposite. Playing shit football (for the most part), no organisation, not drilled at all, nobody knows what they are doing and mostly playing for themselves. Although a few of our players are neat on the ball.
This has to come back to Wenger. I know recently I have pointed the finger at him a lot but it is his fault. He still thinks that attacking fotball will always come out on top no matter what. There doesnt seem to be any management in terms of organisation, particularly at defending. We are racking up more inuries than an A&E. Someone said a while back that this could be put down to the training regimes and i tend to agree. It cant be a coincidence that key players keep getting injured and are out for longer than should be.
i dont know stu ,
wenger got the best out of them V’s man U and the chev’s .. i mean the chev’s didn’t even score from there own boots , held for 90 minutes effectively ..
i think wenger gets the best out of average players .. thats why when they leave they all become shite again ! …
but if he’s not getting results with these plonkers then he must be dealing with the bottom of the barrel .. ok maybe middle of the barrel ..
he’s just getting the inconsistency from his players because there all young ..
it goes with being a young footballer unless you fall into the classification of wonder kid ..
which cesc may have qualified for, and jack .. possibly vela at some point prior to them neutering him this season with lack of chances ! definitely messi and kaka however ..
why dont we get those 2 ??
ethan even wilshere and vela are incredibly inconsistent. They’ve been brilliant at times this season, but at other time’s they’ve been non existant, even they won’t be consistant for a good while because of their inexperience and age, ramsey likewise!
This season was a massive risk, and it’s backfired spectacularly, it’ll be interesting to see how wenger tries to dig us out of this mess. I really think we’ll see arshavin coming in, or someone similar. Any signings any that that are big ifs depending on whether anyone’s available
simpson seems to be going on loan to west brom, be interesting to see how he does in the prem. This if it was true is hilarious – http://www.wiganer.net/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=423459
would show just how much of a bellend he is!
i agree A ,
but im also for chucking them in and bringing them along ..
if he can do it too song and diaby he should give them regular games and make them learn ..
by 19 they can be pretty handy players , if given time ..
dont waste time on the dead wood .. eboue – song .. etc
by 19 i think they’ll be a couple of the best players on the planet! Eboue and song aren’t dead wood, eboue has shown his quality in the past, and at the start of this season, and song was fantastic against liverpool. I generally pride myself on the ability to be objective when looking at players, but i never ever thought I could ever think song could have a future at the club. However his improvement in the wigan and middlesbrough matches, then the game of his life he had in the pool match has made me consider the idea. If he could replicate his liverpool form then i’d be happy with him in as a dm!
I think cesc is irreplacable, and as we wouldn’t ever be able to replace him with a new signing, i think we’ll try and be much more solid, play song and denilson both a dm’s, and wenger will try to sign a top playmaker like arshavin or ribery, and maybe a centre back, and that’ll be it. Wenger has kept faith with song and denilson this far, and denilson has been one of our best players this season, so won’t lose faith anytime soon with him, and song has either come good at the best time, or had a fluke game of his life at the worst time for the club, as it could mean wenger holds back from signing someone as a result. We’ll play denilson in the role cesc would have occupied until he returns, with maybe ramsey and wilshere getting some more time on the pitch against the lesser opponents if we win a few games and get some momentum
A
so do i , im objective , i give merit where it deserves also but i think at best eboue – diaby – song will be squad players and not necessarily plying there trade in the top 4 either ..
we have sold better players than the ones we are left with.upson – diarra – bentley – Jeremie to boro …even pennant would be better than song .. these are the ones no one wanted more or less … sure we hung on to cesc but most others had there price , and these are the misfits …
all needing to be played out of position to get a game .. it doesnt help them or arsenal .. sell them be kind to both parties .
and recently it all adds up to crap performances ..
you need to mold this team now get players to play the role suited to them.. not play diaby on the wing .. get a winger in, sell him ..
wengers been ruthless before ..
if we had kept the right ones we could of had a squad like
almunia
sagna upson gallas clichy
bentley diarra cesc nasri

the above shows how we have scored 8 and conceded 11 in our last 8 games, but even united have dropped 8 points.
thats not normal kelsey ..
thats not a normal flamboyant arsenal stat . !
Oh that’s cheered me up!
glad to have helped geoff
Ethan I hope you’ll be drinking beer on a beach tomorrow my friend!
morning all,
that’s an official table from the premier league. geoff, sorry about my dig at bergkamp yesterday, but he only wanted to pick certain points from my post, and it annoyed me.
so the table shows we are currently conceding more than we are scoring, and now i see that simpson is off on loan to the baggies, what will he learn there. From what i saw of him in the c.c. he is direct and always looking to score, more than you can say of nic.,and nic has rejected a move to moscow spartak.what is going on,and merry xmas to you as well
Kelsey, morning, don’t worry about that, he was arguing for arguing’s sake yesterday, one of those days!
I’m about to go home from my office where I wrote todays blog from so I’ll be out for a bit.
The Gunners are also eyeing a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Miguel Veloso.
The 22-year-old has fallen out with boss Paulo Bento and could now try and force through a loan move this January with a view to a permanent deal.
Source: Daily Star
I’m digging this loan move thing. Any takers?
i cant see why they would have to loan him out but yeah i would take it in a flash. the elano thing is interesting too. despite the fact its january we do seem to have some options. in my opinion having watched wenger yesterday we are def after arshavin…its all about argreeing the fee.
NEW POST!
