Okay spade… you’re a damn spade!!! + Elephants

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Ok, before I start, understand I am getting very bored of writing match reports after we lose… It’s difficult to bring variety to the same issues… but that wont stop me trying.

Here goes.

I watched this documentary about killer elephants in Africa. The local elephants were killing the wildlife indiscriminately and attacking farmers cattle. Researchers went out to Kenya to find out what was going on… when they arrived they set up cameras to try and find out what was going on…what they saw was pretty shocking… they caught a young elephant trying to make love to a hippo… the hippo didn’t fancy it… so the elephant mauled it to death.

After researching the problem the scientists found out that the reason the elephants were misbehaving. The nature reserve the elephants were housed in had imported 20 young elephants to kick start their preservation project… but because the elephants were so young, they didn’t know how to behave… so they started acting up, much in the same way naughty school boys do when left to their own devices. The problem was solved by importing 4 older elephants from other nature reserves who guided the young elephants to maturity thus preventing any more misbehaviour.

Now there is a story, eh? I wonder if a couple of mature signing in January could work the same magic? Maybe it would stop Randall dry humping the ball bag… or teach Diaby to high five with his team mates when he is subbed… or give Nik B the wake up call he so throughly needs on the pitch…

Forget all those points… this team needs an injection of confidence.

The team don’t run for each other, they don’t trust each other and they don’t believe in themselves. We have a clueless bunch of above average kids… and that is why we can turnover good teams every now and then, but we struggle against poor teams. I wont give player ratings, why bother… it was pretty dire out there.

Tonight was an exercise in humiliation, and maybe a few of the maturer elephants in the team could have prevented such an event.

The kids weren’t great tonight… Rambo was off key, Vela ran around like a headless chicken, Bendtner ran around like a headless chicken after it has stopped… and some of the more mature players were terrible.

First up.

Nik B (The shame of it is at 21 he is one of the old guard).

Who said blogs don’t have an effect? I had a real issue with the pink boots… I voiced my displeasure… Nik converted to green! Brilliant. Shame his perfomance didn’t perk up… he was woeful tonight… he looked lethargic and uninterested.

I know what he needs… he needs to find the waterboy rage. In the film ‘the water boy’… Bobby Bouche finds his intensity and drive by thinking about all the people that have been mean to him…

Maybe Arsene should try this method…

‘Nik, think of all the mean comments left on Le Grove and other such blog sites… and use them as your goal scoring fuel!’

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGPYYnA6UD8&hl=en&fs=1]

Second up, Eboue.

Tonight was his chance to redeem himself in his favoured position of right back. Well, if Eboue did anything tonight he proved a point… the point being that he is not a good right back… he is a bad player and I for one hope he carries out his threat of leaving in the summer… it would be about as traumatic as the day I found out Senderos was off to Milan.

Thirdly…Almunia.

For me he has been on a downward spiral this season. How many times do Arsenal have to succumb to simple set pieces? A corner is as dangerous as a freekick 20 yards out… no one has a clue what they are doing. When a ball finishes up in the middle of the box, 7 yards out…unchallenged, there is something wrong. Almunia should have been there to claim the cross with a big shout… if it was clear that he had bottled it… Diaby should have been there. It’s just not good enough from a goal keeping perspective and piss poor from a defensive point of view.

Surely it is about time we started calling a spade a spade. Eboue is poor, Senderos is poor, Song is poor… lets give up the game of saying ‘they’ll come good’. They wont guys… fans know a thing or two about football and if 90% of fans are saying those players wont make it… they are probably right.

Arsene Wenger reckons great wages don’t stop players making mistakes… fair point. Pay me £400,000 a week and I probably couldn’t run a nuclear power plant… but that is not the issue. Our issue is we have the 2nd highest wage bill in the country… the youngest team… and we’re the 4th best team in the Prem.

Logic says to me that something is wrong with those stats, just like there would be something wrong if I was being paid stupid money to run a power plant.

Which player did you think of when you saw this pic?

Game of Association: Which player did you think of when you saw this pic?

There is nothing admirable in backing averageness. If anything, this behaviour we’ve resorted to just highlights our desperation…We know the first team wont win anything this year… so we cry out for the youth team to be given a go… now it is apparent they are no better (well, at the moment)… we are stuck. Our only hope is a few bodies in January…

A lot of the talk this week has been aimed at showing Eboue a little more respect. Well, respect is a two way street and I think Arsene should be made aware of that.

Fielding a weakened team away in Europe when fans have paid good money; during a recession, isn’t showing respect. I also question what good throwing a game does on the back of 3 wins? How are the kids going to feel now… what effect will the loss have on the mood around the club?

We fielded a poor team and we paid the price… keep them crossed, because last time we threw a game unnecessarily it was United in the FA Cup… and we all know what happened after that…

    Team dramas??

No ins or outs as such.

Someone known only as “me” appeared claiming that he knew great players when he saw them and said that Almunia was a great keeper and Jens was the worst keeper to ever play for the Arsenal. Also Wrighty has ghosts, apparently. Other than that no dramas.

heres something , the lad has only been here 5 minutes
(bet ya he wished he joined man shitty now ! )

Mikael Silvestre believes Arsenal will not win any silverware this season on current form.

French defender Silvestre’s brutal assessment came after the club’s poor display against Porto on Wednesday night in the Champions League, when an understrength Gunners side were beaten 2-0.

It was Arsenal’s seventh defeat in all competitions already this season.

Silvestre says there needs to be a sudden transformation in the consistency of their performances if they are going to stand any chance of landing major honours.

West Bromwich Albion want to sign Bendtner on loan until the end of the season but the 20-year-old Denmark forward is reluctant to move to a team who are bottom of the table. Tony Mowbray, the West Brom manager, stepped up his interest in Bendtner this week after finding out that Ishmael Miller has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury. Bendtner made a name for himself with 11 league goals while on loan at Birmingham City during the 2006-07 season, but his recent performances and attitude have put his future at the club in doubt.

William Gallas and Nicklas Bendtner could be allowed to leave Arsenal next month as part of Arsène Wenger’s plan to freshen up his squad after a disappointing start to the season. Juventus are in pole position to sign Gallas, although Arsenal denied yesterday that Ivan Gazidis, the new chief executive, had held talks with Alessio Secco, the Juventus sporting director, about selling the former captain.

Claudio Ranieri, the Juventus coach, knows Gallas well and signed him for £6.2 milllion from Marseilles while in charge of Chelsea in 2001. AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed an interest in the 31-year-old, but Arsenal would prefer to do business with the Turin club.

there you go that should generate 10 mil !

told ya he will sell before he buys !
    fuckin typical ..

why not sell every one over 30 years old and have no experience in the squad at all !
lets try our best to not have a single person in the squad who has ever won any silverware !

    good plan wenger !

Im not sure how he has done it but with all the criticism of players flying around this season he has remained attack free. Sure, some have hinted at him but there have been no ongoing slaughterings like there has been of Song, Eboue, Almunia, Nik, Gallas and Denilson. Even Clichy, RvP and Ade have been blamed for poor displays and misakes.

Yet Fat-fish-head has avoided such criticisms. Wierd isnt it? The majority of the games that he has played in we have lost of been horrible in defence (not that its all been his doing). He has been poor as a CB and showed on wednesday that he is worse as a LB. I keep hoping that eventually something will click in Wengers head and he will realise what a stupid decsion it was to buy him (regardless of the price).

I can just imagine Wenger ringing up Fergie to curse the scot for selling Fish and Fergie just laughing his red bollocks off on the other end. Well done fergie, you sly fox. He is some man to trick a foe into taking a piece of shit, french hack off his hands.

  8. Stu

I’ld rather sell Gallas to PSG because there is a possibility that we will get Juve in the CL. I wouldnt mind keeping Bendtner as long as we buy other players to help him out. Seriously!! Fair enough Nik is a lazy bastard but with the right midfield behind him, doing all the right things then he could just stand around waiting for a few opportunities. He needs top players around him so that he can learn. Right now the only players aroung him are either younger or Adebayor. Not exactly a help.

Ethan, as for selling everyone over 30- wouldnt be hard. Fish, Gallas, Almunia. Wouldnt take long.

  9. Stu

Hildebrand is joining Hoffeheim on a free in january. He is a top keeper, far better than Almunia imo and he would have been a better option too. Shame that Wenger doesnt go for godo players anymore, just the ones that might be good some day.

  10. ethangunner

    stu

yes but gallas will be cup tied this season so all is fine in the short term ..
also fish face’s statement (i like the name by the way )

is very gallas like isnt it ?
if your a captain you can get the ass for stating the team is below par !!
BUT , if your a new player you can say the team sucks and you look honest ???
is that how it works ?

something is very fucked up there ..

as for almunia if he was really that good someone would have bought him whilst he was still a 2nd stringer or at least would have been called up for his country . . and now he has the spot light on him @ 30 ! you cant tell me if he was all that good that he wouldnt have been 1st choice earlier !
jens was average for a few years before he left .. and he was still better than beach bum !

we have lowered our standards and some fans will die trying to protect that secret ..
its like a stone masons convention ! a very fucked up stone masons convention !

i think if the fans stood united and showed wenger they are not happy at all , we could get what we want .. whilst AKB exist we will always see average football whist paying top dollar !

  11. Stu

It is fucked up that certain players can say what they want but be free from criticism. At least Gallas told the truth whether he was wrong to do so or not.

Fish blatently lied saying that we are still in the title race and aim to finish first. Thats obviously a load of bull!

We dont try to win things anymore! All Wenger does is win enough games to get CL football so he doesnt get fired and can continue his experiment of ruining the club. Just like he did at Monaco!

Its interesting that Nik got booed when his name was called out against Wigan. A protest will never happen, the board will never cop on and Wenger will continue to live up his own Arse unless something is done.

Does the managers name get called out during the team anouncements?? If so then why boo his name too? Why shouldnt he get booed. The players may be shit but its AW who buys and plays them.

  12. iceman

I still think he has Jan to fix it……..We need to give him the benefit of doubt…..if he doesn’t enter the market in Jan then we know he’s OFFICIALLY lost it!!

  13. ethangunner

    iceman

but how many times can we keep giving him the benefit of the doubt ?
2 or 3 more years ? this is what fans continually keep saying RE : wenger ..

he has to realize he is not above the law ..

    as cypress hills says

    ITS TIME TO STRIKE !

  14. iceman

    Yeah Ethan….

I hear you….but what can we do but wait for another 2 weeksish right?

If next month he says I believe in this squad and all that other bullsh*t we’ve been hearing for the last 2/3 years then we know it’s probably time to go come the summer……

  15. iceman

I don’t mean fire him….or ask him to leave….just something’s have got to change….maybe bring in a more vocal no.2 or get him to actually bring in players above 25….

  16. ethangunner

you know he wont get anyone , in fact im sure he wont ..
well not unless he gets rid of gallas and bends like the rumours state …
but then all he is doing is replacing bodies and not really achieving much anyhow ..

i know ice , he is being frustrating , but i also dont really what him to go either ..
as that will probably start a mass exodus of others like cesc for instance , and
anyone else who is playing for arsene FC , opps i mean arsenal fc :)

  17. Pedro

    Haha, cone man… Like it.

I read he was the middle man between the players and the coach. He is the personable of the two.

  18. Big Raddy

Get off Pedro. Personable ? My coffee pot is more personable !

He doesn’t look much of a joker to me, not the sort of bloke one gets rat arsed with in the 12 Pins.

He is old enough to be their Grand Dad.

No – there must be another purpose.

  19. ethangunner

its funny when gallas says we suck he gets booted from the captaincy !
when silvestre says we suck , he’s issuing a battle cry !

Arsenal’s Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is reportedly on his way to the Hawthorns in January on a six month loan deal. The 20-year-old has been targeted by Tony Mowbray following the news that Ishmail Miller is out for the season and Arsene Wenger looks set to sanction the move.

With Eduardo ready to return for the Gunners and exciting Mexican Carlos Vela thought to offer more flexibility up front, Wenger has decided that Bendtner’s best chances of playing time will come at another club.

Having already proved himself in the Championship after his loan period with Birmingham, the Dane is now set for another stint away from the Emirates. Known for his physical presence and pink boots, the youngster has courted both admirers and controversy since the start of the season.

WELL you can see whats going to happen here , i got my Crystal balls out ! and wenger will take him back if he gets a hat full ! or wenger will say , you can have him if he continues !

i like wengers style ! here have bends ! he cant score goals for us !
and we doubt he will score goals for you either ! but pay some of his wages
    and take the loser !

  21. kelsey

Patr ice happened to be sitting on the bench when they built the emirates, and wenger thought he was called patrice a frent interpreter for him so he didn’t want to cause any trouble so wenger just accepts him as a bench warmer,as he does fuck all.it’s part of the contract.he only talks when spoken to.
