Porto in the Carling Cup tonight. Big game little team.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Ok you could be forgiven thinking we are playing in the Carling cup tonight, Simpson, Merida, Hoyte, Ramsey, Randall, Gibbs and Ramsey all look set to start and the experience of Gallas and Diaby to give the team some bite.

I can’t wait to be honest, I said earlier in the season that the younger kids showed more fight than the older kids and if he plays Eboue the oppressed and Bendtner the big head, he will have two players with a point to prove as well.

I hope they play like they did at Wigan, the cup game not the league one and run at them with no fear. If they do I can see a famous win on it’s way, but this time Niklas you need to take your chances, you won’t get as many as you did at Burnley and I think you are being watched now, on the clock so to speak, so time is not on your side, I’m backing you do prove us all wrong.

I think Wenger needs to have a doctor look over his next signings (If indeed there are any ever again) In the 12 years of Arsene Wenger’s reign I would bet Ethan’s house (again) that we have had more injuries than any team in football history… coincidence???

The other thing that gets me is resting key players; I always thought that top players wanted Champions league football? I thought that’s why they signed for clubs, so I can’t work out why we are resting Ade, why he isn’t gagging for it?

The injury list is impressive, with Nasri, Cesc, Robin, Kolo and Sagna all injured, funny apart from Nasri, they all looked fine to me on Saturday, let’s hope they’re back for the Boro game.

Yesterday we heard of the tragic and untimely death of Stonroy’s sister, Stonroy is a Grover, we were all very sad to hear that, but touched that Arsene wrote to her son and had the team all sign a poster, so Stonroy our thoughts are with you but your team is too. Nice to hear that.

So tonight expectations with a team of kids are low but I am strangely confident, I watched the Chavs scrape through last night, if they can win anyone can.

Remember the motto Concordia la di da di da, translated it means in God we trust, the kids will deliver, tonight is their night, go get ‘em boys – 2 nil the Arsenal.

Bergkamp. I have no idea whether the board asked Arsene to sell Vieira and neither do you. If pushed I would say I doubt it. Yes the sums do have to add up but the notion seems to be that we haven’t had money to spend because we had the new stadium to build. And yet we are told there are millions of pounds if needed. Enough indeed so that £30 million could be spent on one player if so desired. And we have the 2nd biggest wage bill in the league so, if it was a plan, it doesn’t seem to have worked out that well does it. Surely the fact is that, whether Vieira was sacrificed or not, we haven’t replaced him or Henry or Campbell or Dennis. The balance we seem to have struck is always going to cause questions to be asked. If we awere winning regularly and looking strong then we’d all be a lot happier and the financial aspect wouldn’t be such a debatable point. It’s easy to accept the facts that fit in with each of our theories and I do that as well but if we don’t believe the board with regard to the financial position then why should we believe them on anything?

  2. A

Maciek we aren’t an average team, we’re an inconsistent team. We can beat anyone, but just don’t have the know how and experience to consistently beat teams who don’t try to play against us. I agree though, saturday is a big worry if cesc isn’t back to fitness, though I doubt ramsey will play. It’ll probably be eboue, song, denilson, diaby if cesc isn’t fit, pretty worrying!

  3. bergkamp

they aint got a man willing to sign off the cheques, thats a big responsibilty, dein would have done it,thats the problem,if the player could make our team stronger dein showed faith and wrote the cheque required,i think edelman thought he was buyin second hand motors an tried haggle to save a bob or two

  4. Paul88

    Aha, jonjon.

Since deins departure i don’t have any faith in the current board to handle any aspects of running the club, new players, current players contracts etc. Also this guy isn’t 90 which helps!!!

  5. choy

fuck.. the riverside.. isn’t that where we first lost last season.. the riverside used to be a hunting ground for th14.. now.. i’m piss scared!!!

  6. bergkamp

lou wenger is a strange man,the club needed to make money, instead of lose two or 3 younger less known squad memebers it would make perfect sense in a wenger way that he chose to ditch pv4 if the club needed a certain amount of cash

  7. avenell

We have no right to fourth place.. in fact we are lucky to be as high as we are..

But we only needed a signing or two and we could be challeging first place….

  8. ReVELAtion

i really couldn’t give a monkees about highbury square, tube stations, loans or what not.. That’s money men talk to try and make us think somewhere down the line it’ll all turn out alright… If you want to believe we are broke or have to make do with substandard shite fine, but i expect better from my club and will not be tken for a mug…

Where’s our fucking expensive centre midfielder? They keep banging on about having the money, but no activity….

Sounds to me like wenger and the board are taking us and our money to the cleaners and you know what’s funny… we aren’t exactly making a big fuss about it are we…

How can we have the most expensive tickets in world football, the most expensive hospitality in world football, most expensive food and beverages and still be trying to haggle 2 million on deals for players like alonso and barry…?

Also, what’s the point of renegotiating our existing deals? It isn’t like we’re firing on all cylinders with mega star names to pin endorsement rights on… I wouldn’t be suprised if we paid of exisiting sponsorship deals off then got left with just about the same money in offers for new rights… meaning we’d have paid back 4 year loan money but ended up back at square 1…

Some of you have high tolerance levels let me tell you that

  9. Maciek

    Bergkamp,
If they all decide to leave, that will just show us that they don’t care about our Club and us, fans, but they care about money. I want to see desire in our player’s play, when they are the wearing red and white. I didn’t see it many times this season. I was watching today’s match with my dad and we didn’t recognise Arsenal today. That sums it all. Many of our players are a disgrace to our Club.

  10. A

paulinho vela has fantastic technique, and potential, but is a million miles behind van persie in terms of where he is as a player. VP is rated as one of the top players in europe, vela is incredibly talented but very raw still. Sagna is a step up from eboue, clichy is a massive step up from silvestre who was attrocious tonight, cesc obviously alot better than denilson or song, nasri much much better than diaby, theo much better than ramsey….

Big difference between the team that played today and our first eleven! It is a big worry if nasri and cesc keep getting injured though.

We’ve never been able to play without a playmaker, so without nasri, and diaby retardedly returning from injury, we’re pretty buggered!

  11. Doublegooner

What makes things worse is that all wengers signings in the last 3 years, no one has set the world alight or is still anywhere near the finished article.

  12. Paul88

    Choy

I posted something similar earlier. I’m not very confident at all, Early kick off, mid week champs league defeat, msybe a few players out. We lost there last season after a champs league defeat.

  13. A

double we are much better than those outside the top four, it’s gibberish we aren’t, and just press talk bollocks. We’ve had the most problems we’ve had this season since wenger arrived, and we’re still in the top 4….

Villa are the main team talked about challenging us, and are massively overrated. They’re just a bunch of foulers with a typical most defensive formation and system ever courtesy of martin o’neil. It means they can stifle top teams, and catch them on the break, but against anyone where they’re the favourites they don’t have anywhere near the quality to break them down.

Hull obviously don’t have the quality, everton, spurs, pompey, man city are already too far behind and have their own problems,

there is noone who could challenge us, and yes i’d put my house on that

  14. choy

    Paul88

yes i remember.. toure gave a penalty and we were fucking about the whole game.. and they scored another.. a late rosicky consolation.

    damn… squeaky bum time!

  15. Lou

Bergkamp. I understand what you are saying. You say that Patrick Vieira was sold because the board told Wenger they needed the money they received for him to put towards the new stadium. All I ask is exactly how you know this and as I understand it, that fee was payable over 3 or 4 years so how did that help? My feeling is that AW would never have sold PV4 or Henry against his wishes, but if you can tell me that you know for a FACT that this happened I will have to take it seriously.

  16. bergkamp

the thing what worrys me is theo needs a new deal,an most of the time on the wing he is invisible like a poor mans aron lennon, when that contract goes on the table he will ask when am i playin upfront and if he dont like the answer he should do a webster

  17. ReVELAtion

    brave man you A….

I should have a little more faith perhaps, but every week the faith starts to get chipped away…

But if you think that a midfield that has denilson, eboue, song, diaby or ramsey (he’s 17!!!) featuring at any point in p.l or c.l game are winning anything.. You are nuts!

  18. bergkamp

lou, every year viera almost left, arsenal gave him huge sums to stay,a year earlier we could have got 20 mill for him,a year later he goes for 12 an he didnt even know he was for sale,pv4 was told weve accepted a bid for you, trust me arsenal needed that 12 mill quick, only him or henry was worth that money, unless the done a multi sale but they needed quick cash,pv4 was a casualty of the concrete bill,he ended up at juve,do you think pv4 turned down madrid a year earlier to join juve a year later?

  19. A

i wouldn’t say “or”, a midfield consisting of all of them minus probably ramsey on saturday is a big worry!

There isn’t a player at Villa i’d rather have ahead of those four though! They’re so overrated!

  20. Paulinho

The point is A is all these B players have been involved in our best periods of play this season. Denilson, Eboue at Bolton. Diaby at Fenerbache. In these cases these players have shown more verve than the likes of Nasri. That goal against United is the only time when we’ve played top, top football with Nasri and Fabregas linking.

The ‘first’ team has the all the intangibles that the reserve team lack like experience, and a bit more nous I suppose(although that is debatable after what I’ve seen this season), but overall there is no great class gap between the teams. Look at Hull, Fulham, Stoke, Villa at home. Fabregas, Clichy, Walcott. Did they really look like guys that you can definately count on to lift our games regardless of circumstance?

    I don’t think so!

  21. ReVELAtion

well to be honest choy you won’t get close to being paddy v if you are constantly being played on the left.. What other club deliberatly plays their players out of posisition?

Ramsey on the right, denilson on the right, eboue on the right, left and centre of midfield, bendtner on the left, van persie oon the left, djourou left back etc…. makes a mockery of all that asrene knows shite…

Some commentator said because diaby scored with his left foot in the home tie against porto wenger’s experiment on the left with him had been worth it… He’s been buying into that arsene knows shit n all

  22. Doublegooner

    LOU:

The Board & Wenger went with the whole notion of slashing the wage bill by selling or letting go most of the Invincibles.

Although PV4 was tunned when he was sold. i can tell you for fact he was nearly in tears & speechless the day he left London Colney.

I think the board had got so fucked off with him the previous seasons when he kept dicking us about & the Fiszman said no more & then sold him when he wasnt expecting it.

  23. ReVELAtion

A- you wouldnt have young and barry over eboue, denilson, song and diaby?

    Now i know u r nuts..

Fuck it, i’ll have milner over all of them except ramsey and maybe denilson

  24. choy

doesn’t wenger ever want a fantasy team for himself.. you know splurge a little and try to win everything?

i think these are his last few years at the club.. will he ever feel that way?

  25. bergkamp

diaby dont even know his own best position,he gets shrgged off the ball like a midget,he is crap, they should ditch him, bendtner doesnt deserve any sympathy,i think he is in for a boooo very soon, his body is not compatible with his belief and arrogance, his first touch is shyt,at least we can guarantee ade practices his first touch, nik thinks he is the real deal

  26. JonJon

the new ceo shouldnt have any problems in signing cheques

he should realise a big name signing will make up most of the transfer fee in shirt sales.

take a player like beckham for example, 25mil to madrid was way over the top, but he made that up in 6 months in shirt sales etc.. and went on to make them a fortune while he was there

im not saying we should sign beckham

im just saying signing a player with a big rep will pay for itself over time,

thats why AC milan went all out to risk on ronaldinho, he’ll make up whatever they paid for him in one season alone. doesnt matter what other baggage he has, apart from being brilliant.

sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate, and that means winning trophies too.

the board just seem to be happy speculating in property, and the football side of things has been shelved and they just hope wenger qualifies for europe every year with these players.

and it might be going to plan for them, but it aint going to plan for the fans, and i feel the fans are also a big part of the football club.

its like our feelings have been lost touch with, and the board and wenger say they care and say we are capable of winning trophies, but i just feel like the wool is being pulled over my eyes.

  27. Keyser

Paulinho – Did you notice anything that Denilson has improved in his game since those games we lost ?! Especially tonight ?!

There’s been slights improvements in a few players, the more they play together the more there will be, we won’t see them right away but there has been an improvement.

  28. Lou

Bergkamp. I hear what you say. If true then our business plan is in an even worse state that I thought. Anyway, thanks to all for our collective hand-wringing session. There are clearly many frustrated Gooners out there trying to make the facts fit the situation and I am proud to include myself in that group. I’ll still be there though at every home game, paying through the nose and wondering what the hell is going on and I’ll be glued to the box for our match against ‘Boro. So, goodnight gentlemen. Sweet dreams.

  29. choy

nicklas is better coming off the bench.. he is not ready to start yet.. also doesn’t help that he has not played with cesc and the first team a lot!

  30. bergkamp

is there an age restriction on the webster thing?? because wenger said cesc can do it, a player of theo’s age can do a webster, and from the minute he applys it could take a year or more an arsenal wouldnt be able to select him

  31. A

yeah I agree paulinho, nasri hasn’t clicked, but he’s shown glimpses of being able to fill the void left by hleb, and with rosicky injured. In my opinion although he’s far better than diaby, but we just can’t play without anyone doing that roaming link role. The most worrying thing for me recently has been the lack of movement, it was non-existant today.

I agree those players aren’t able to lift their games in the little matches, like the likes of pires and henry could do every time. I do feel that with a relatively fit squad whilst we wouldn’t piss all over the little teams who try to just defend against us, we’d still nab the goals that won the tough games, as one of vp, ade, cesc, nasri, theo, even denilson or bendtner have the capacity to nab goals. They certainly don’t have the ability to do it consistently all together though, especially with the current lacking confidence

  32. bergkamp

lou,its hard not to get frustrated but truthfully i think arsenals plan is more longterm even goin beyond wenger, the stadium was a gift to the club to keep it healthy beyond probably all our lifes, that was important, but right now we are havin the effect for maybe 6 years,or 10

  33. avenell

Bergkamp… The rule states that any player who signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out of the contract three years after the deal is signed.

  34. choy

also doesn’t help that the players don’t know where the fuck where they are going to play…. gallas might as well play as a striker and nicklas can play central defence!

  35. A

ok reva i’d have young over any of our currently fit wingers, but no i wouldn’t have barry over any of our midfielders, he’s even more overrated compared to his actual ability than lampard and beckham have been in past years, typical of the english media!

  36. Paulinho

I’ve noticed a slight improvement in Denilson. However all that went out the window once we went a goal behind. He lost his head again and went back to Mr.Nothing.

Same with Song. I like his physical presence at times but again he struggles when the tempo needs to be raised.

That’s the mark of quality. Can a player raise his game a few gears to suit the needs of the team. Too often these players wilt and fold and lose their discipline, shape and mental clarity. There is ZERO improvement in these deparments as well. Same old broken record.

In Diaby’s case he improves and goes backwards in non stop fashion. Probably the biggest waste of talent out of the lot.

  37. bergkamp

and theo is almost coming up to that avenell,he must be 6 months away, but 1 things for sure, when arsenal negotiate i think theo’s dad will ask when will he be considered to play upfront, wenger will need his charm for don walcott

  38. A

neither would i choy, nor theo, nor rosicky, and if it had to mean one player being at the club and the other not i wouldn’t take him over wilshere either despite him being obviously better at the moment. Merida maybe but I’m not sure

  39. bergkamp

they said hleb was willing to do a webster thats why they had to flog him, wenger wasnt willing to sell him until he found out hleb was willing to sit down for a year while the paper work was sorted

  40. bergkamp

hahaha basically theos dad rates arsenals academy, but he will want the next step of education in the superstar school, and theo’s next step is to become michael owen style forward world feared, arsenal have to promise don walcott thats the plan in the next 3 years

  41. choy

avenell.. only nasri is out.. wenger can’t come out and say i am resting all the players! he will be mauled by the press stating that he is degrading the CL and that he does not give a rats ass..

expect a full team minus nasri

  42. bergkamp

i just think theo is sick of havin defenders infront of him when he recieves the ball, he wants balls over the top or through balls ,no one would get near him,he is sick of these wide man tackles he is takin

  43. A

choy vp takes indirect non-shooting set pieces better than young! Our corners and set pieces recently with vp back firing them in are nearly undefendable, wigan was ridiculous we didn’t score from a corner! Without VP set piece wise we aren’t great, though it seems to be largely down to the fact that cesc demands to take them all, despite the fact that nasri is actually pretty good at them! He takes a decent corner too, hits them much harder than cesc!

  44. bergkamp

he tried but nikki b lost posesion everytime the ball went up top,he was fouled, the ref was only givin freekicks to blatant divers and loud screamers choy

  45. A

choy, vela had a couple of nice touches but pretty nothingy again, though he isn’t a great left him. He seems to go missing for big periods of games doesn’t he, I really expected him to be making a big impact by now!

also – cesc is definitely injured, and i fear he won’t play saturday, i was very surprised he carried on on sat after he picked up the injury! and any doubts or tightness for rvp i fully support any resting for him in a game like this, he should be wrapped up in cotton wool for sat!

  46. A

i actually want eboue to play choy, we’ve missed him and he’s our best bet! Sad state of affairs, but I can’t see how anyone other than Diaby and Eboue could play out wide on saturday. Even if Cesc is fit so Denilson goes out wide i’d have eboue over diaby any day of the week if diaby is playing like tonight!

  47. choy

A.. he scores a hat trick.. he doesn’t start the next game.. he plays in the CC again.. scores and doesn’t get the next game…he must be wondering wtf he has to do to start!

  48. A

ha i dunno paulinho, i certainly don’t think it’ll be easy. I think it could well be one of those tight games, where we rely on a vp set piece and og or gallas bundle, either late on, or get it early and then pick them off when they try to come at us. Or just a bit of magic from vp

  49. JonJon

    Wilshere should play wide sat,

everbody else has had a go and been shit, lets give the kid a go at least he can actually dribble

  50. bergkamp

wilshere was the only player with any desire today, vela tried but alone, ramsey tried, the rest were just crap,no excuse for being crap and not even puttin an effort in

  51. Paulinho

You know the deal A, when we play at those northern grounds where they play that music after they score. What is it?………I feel good, nana nana na, I knew that I would…. that might be Bolton but I know Boro have got a similar tune or did.

It will be a sleepy, drab game and then they will mug us off again. It will be very similar to Porto tonight I feel.

  52. A

the league cup is very different to the league, you can’t put players into the league team ahead of those rested based on league cup performances! Otherwise we’d have bendtner and vela up top with wilshere right mid, ramsey in for cesc! Vela has had a very difficult time so far this season, because every 3 weeks he’s been out of the squad or unable to play because of flying out to play against honduras at 2am on thursday mornings! If he hadn’t had international breaks I reckon he’d be much nearer the first team. Hopefully with no internationals until feb and him being suspended he’ll benefit from an extended consistent period in matchday squads and being able to play more, though with eduardo back he might even be out of the squad!

If vp is still fit when eduardo is back come jan, I think he’d benefit from a loan in the prem, as long as we make 100% sure we can call him back if there are any injuries!

  53. avenell

Choy it’s not sunday mate It’s Sat lunchtime uk time… 2 1/2 days rest.. plus no Nasri.. Hence I think we will struggle.. And it’s chilly up there..

Is it cold up there jonjon?

  54. A

won’t happen jonjon, he just isn’t ready to start yet. We need him desperately to become a year older overnight!! Or even six months would suffice!!

  55. A

I think we’ll win avenell, it’ll be like the wigan game, a scrappy goal like that. Though then again if vp does as well to create chances like the wigan game, but they actually find the back of the net it could be a hammering!

  56. Paulinho

Yeah, bergkamp, and there’s always a few tinkers behind the goal on the concourse running about giving it large…empty seats behind them.

  57. JonJon

avenell its freezing mate, im going to be wearing three pair of socks and a vest tucked into my longjohns. not to mention a hot water bottle under my vest

  58. ethangunner

    Keyser

nice return comment , i was sure you would respond in your usual way :)
but in all honesty the dark side is looking pretty good at the moment ..

give in to your anger and get shed loads of power – quickly …

i think wenger needs to goto yoda school !

  59. avenell

Keep your whippet warm jonjon.. haha

I know what a West Ham supporter feels like.. We might win we might not.. but if we can stay up .. next year

  60. JonJon

    its sad aint it avenell,

how the hell has it come to this, not knowing if we will get a result against a team that a few years ago we were smashing 4-0 5-0 everygame we played against them.

  61. avenell

I just cannot see what the optimistic Arsenal supporter see’s in this squad that we don’t..
Did you read what some one said last night when i asked if you don’t boo, how do you show Wenger and the board your not happy?

  62. JonJon

no avenell what did they say,

did they start with ‘your a disgrace’ or ‘your plastic’ or ‘fuck off and support chelsea’

  63. JonJon

haha avenell, i bet you felt like banging your head against a wall

i dont know if you were on here at the weekend and i was arguing with people for ages over it.

i said its not like we can talk to wenger over the phone or down the pub, it needs to be done at the games or the management dont think anythings wrong and they stay in their comfort zone.

why do you think some supporters are just happy to see whats happening and accept it, its like theyve been brainwashed

  64. avenell

It’s lucky that Wenger isn’t Osama Bin Laden .. coz if he wanted suicide bombers.. there would be a queueing up them AKB’s..

  65. A

avenell you can boo all you want after the game, but it’s much more important that the fans give the team the best chance of winning the game, than aire their frustration! I’d much rather be pissed off with something, but hold it inside, and the team win, than the team lose, and get it off my chest! You can stay outside the ground for ours afterwards, or boo at the final whistle, the only thing that booing during the match can achieve is damaging the players’ morale and confidence!

the fans’ frustration is much less important than the team’s results!!

  66. JonJon

    hahaha

i didnt see the problem with the booing, its not like its the 1st time its happened so why is everyone going nuts over it

im starting to come to the conclusion that those fans are just as annoyed as us, but instead of taking it out on the club and the purist thoughts of lord wenger and the board, they are taking it out on the other fans

last year they blamed it on injuries and the refs and bad luck, but we were still a couple of players short last season, this year theyll blame it on the emmergence of the plastic fan. and nothing to do with the fact the team as a squad are crap.

  67. A

the optimistic fans see the potential the side has, but potential is far from an exact science! I just wish i could jump into the delorian, go forward 3 years and see fabianski being the top keeper in the prem, sagna and clichy the best right and left backs in the world, wilshere coming 2nd in world player of the year to messi, nasri replicating pires on the left scoring 15 goals a season, cesc and ramsey being the best cetral midfield partnership in the world, and vp/vela/bendtner/theo scoring 80 odd goals between them! Would make me alot happier to sit and go through the current situation, and much less painful!

  68. JonJon

but its the clubs results that lead to the fans frustrations A

it doesnt matter if we cheer them clap them lick their arses or boo them, the same players are still shit game after game. clapping them hasnt helped them this year has it???

  69. avenell

A… I have never booed mate.. and I have watched Perry Groves , Ian Allinson Chris Wyte play as a striker, Wife batterer Lee Chapman, Gus Caesar..

But if the booing gives Wenger and the bord a fuck off kick up there ass it COULD be a good thing….

  70. A

its because it was such extreme booing, and it destroyed a player visably on the pitch, and had a big impact on the rest of the team too.

Of course all arsenal fans are pissed off with the way things are going at the moment, but the fans that didn’t boo didn’t becauase they realise that wenger, and the players are also pissed off and it’s hard for everyone!

The team and club as a whole is having a very hard time of it, and everyone including the fans need to come together to try and help the team through, and to coin a phrase be the 12th man, whereas in some situations at the moment the fans are the equivalent of a 12th player for the opposition!

Taking it out on the manager, and team, regardless of who is to blame, can only make things worse, we need to try and improve and the team needs support, not play the blame game!

  71. A

jonjon there hasn’t been any clapping at all!! The fans overall in my opinion have been the worst we’ve ever had. Ade was booed in the first match of the season!! The team have never got any confidence, and the atmosphere at the emirates is always so so weird and tense, it doesn’t help at all. Obviously fans and atmosphere can’t be to blame massively for team performances, but the crowd can have a big impact on a team’s confidence, especially such a young team as ours with very fragile belief and confidence!

A what you have said then is exactley whats wrong with the optimistic fan, they stay quiet cos they really believe these young players will come good in 3-5years time

but thats a long way away and these players may

    1. not be here then

    2. not fulfil their potentail like diaby and bendtner

its ok relying on the future to stay positive, but surely the present is more important

the future of the club is only bright if the present is succeeding, and at the moment alot of fans including myself, can see we are going backwards more than forwards

ive never booed a player, but i can understand why they did it and like avenell, if it gets wenger out of the comfort zone hes been in for the last 3 years it can only bee a good thing.

  73. A

avenell i wouldn’t say that it would though. Wenger and the players will be as pissed off as us about how things are going, it’ll be the results that will give everyone a kick up the arse! Wenger and everyone connected with the club will be doing absolutely everything in their power to improve things, booing won’t help that happen or make success any more likely

  74. avenell

Four years the fans have acted like sheep with blind faith and four years we have won fuck all..
The fans are sick of Pink boots and 33 1/3 Song and the other diving tosser…

  75. A

i agree about diaby, but you can’t say bendtner hasn’t fulfilled his potential when he’s had one and a bit seasons and is only 19!!

jonjon it isn’t wrong to recognise and hope on potential, it doesn’t make optimistic fans any less discontented with how things are going at the moment. It just would if there way a way to look to the future and see in 3 years time every player at the club and fulfilling their potential, which is impossiible!!

The thing is, I’m very pissed off with how things are going at the moment, but some at least of the players we’ve got are bound to fulfil their potential, and still be here, and with the new ground the financial situation and future is very secure, and will continue to improve, so although things are far from ideal at the moment, I just don’t consider it life and death and an absolute disaster sack the board etc

  76. avenell

A …. In all honesty mate on here I am one of Arsene biggest supporters… Tell him jonjon..
But I cannot defend the decisions he has made this year, If there is no money he needs to stamp his feet and get just a bit, Buy the Alonso and another player.. that is all we ask..
Because this club is sinking mate and I care….

  77. A

for four years we’ve improved every year though avenell, we knew we couldn’t build a whole new team overnight. This season i fully expected us to compete for the league properly, and we may still (though obviously it’s very unlikely). If we do fall away, and end up on less points than last year, and do nothing in other comps as many expect, then big changes will happen in the summer I’m sure of it, and I’m happy to wait until then. If we win the league, improving on our points total from last year, and/or win the champs league/fa cup then i’ll be very happy, and the last 5 years have gone exactly as plannned!!

  78. JonJon

ade was booed A because he used the interest in him to hold the club to ransome over his demands to be paid the same as henry, alot of fans didnt want him here, he has to now proove to the fans he his at arsenal for the badge and not for the money, he brought it on himself. i still dont want him here but he is so ive got to get on with it

confidence i agree, is an important part of a players game, but a player needs talent more. alot of the players in the squad are simply not god enough confidence or not.

and the booing couldnt of efected the team more than eboues perfoemance did

everyone involved with the club showed there disgust at his performance,

the players stopped passing to him

    the manager took him offf

    the fans jeered

everyone showed the relevent actions to show he was crap.

there is so much wrong with this club at the moment its untrue, eboue and the booing is nothing compared to the rest of the problems.

  79. A

we’ll buy in jan avenell, booster the squad, though i’d imagine a rosicky/nasri style attacking mid will be number one on the agenda. I really don’t think alonso would make much of a difference, and would spend on alot of other players and positions before him but that debates happened already!

I care massively, but a season is judged at the end of it, and currently we’re still in the title race, champions league, and fa cup. Things don’t look good right now, but come the end of the season they could still have been turned around. If they havn’t or when there isn’t a chance of that is when i’ll get really mad, currently i’m worried but still believe it COULD be turned around

  80. avenell

Apart from our two giant killing perfomances against Man U and Chelsea.. How you think we are going to win anything amazes me…

Anyway A and jonjon.. It’s late and I’m off to bed Gnight..

  81. A

i know why ade was booed jonjon, and i was really pissed off with it too, but the reason for it isn’t the point, the point is just that there was booing. The fans havn’t fully supported the team all season, and with a young and fragile the team whilst it isn’t to blame it has certainly affected confidence.

i disagree that alot of the players lack the talent jonjon. We’ve seen eboue’s talent before, it’s his form that’s crap. You see bendtner playing when confident against bolton and sheff utd, and certainly for denmark, where he has confidence and support, he’s a fantastic talent and a completely different player.

  82. A

i’m not saying i think we will avenell, but my point is we still could, and until we can’t i won’t get pissed off, i’ll just support and hope!!

    nite nite

  83. JonJon

and avenell isnt against wenger, he’s quite objective in his arguements and does defend wenger alot, he just sees the problems that other fans like myself do and isnt afraid to speak up when something needs to be said.

and you cant deny the club isnt all roses at the minute, you support the team through the good times and the problem times but when the club is causing its own problems its pretty hard not to say anything and sit back and take it like alot of other fans do.

we dont say the things we say because we are fickle, we say them because we are passionate and we care about the club

  84. A

and i mean jonjon that i was pissed off with ade, not the booing at the start of the season. I actually didn’t have as much of a problem with the ade booing as i did the eboue!! Just because ade gets overconfident, thinks he’s far better than he is, and fannys about on the pitch not really trying at times, and figured the booing might actually knock him down a peg or two which would be good for him, and the team!

  85. ethangunner

bendnter should be kept , as he is still young and im sure wenger currently still believes in him …

mind you he believes in song and eboue also !
i tell ya eboue had a chance to redeem himself and all he did was dive like a freak !

eboue took a clip on the ankle held it watched ramsey ? go down and then both of them were rolling around on the floor like they drank too much moonshine !

fuck me you little toss get up and play the game ..
after that vela got taken down 2 times , but by then the ref knew we were a bunch of fakers !

it looked really bad ! i think we need to sell of diaby – song – eboue ASAP !
cash them in and get a player who can make a difference . knowing wenger he can get
almost 12 mil for them 3 and get 2 -6 million dollar men !

a few steve austins would come in handy about now !
bionic eyes , the red button on the back lifting the arms !
opps , im going back to my childhood :)

  86. A

i know jonjon, but i think when problems have happened, regardless of who is to blame, if anyone, rather than turn on people we need to support the team as a whole to try and help get through the hard times!!

the club isn’t all roses, of course not, but whilst we are still in a position where we could better last season, and even get the treble, it’s too early in my opinion to go bonkers over it

  87. JonJon

    thats true A

    ade acted like a tosser,

you see, the troubles have been building up for months, saturdays reaction was frustration to everything that has happened at the club since the start of the year

payrises, transfers, gallasgate etc etc etc

they fans have stayed quiet but its hard not to complain when things that are not the fans fault has been happening all season.

  88. A

ethan we can’t afford to sell anyone! diaby, song, eboue might not be up to the standard we want, or expect, but they’re genuinly the best we’ve got, so there’s no way they should be sold, until we bring in superior players, or were just making things worse for ourselves! We need to make the squad as a whole bigger, not smaller!! I really do think we’ll bring in an attacking mid in january, elano or arshavin would do me fine!!

  89. A

yeah i know jonjon, i agree completely everything has been building up for months, it wasn’t just a few misplaced passes that got people so riled up, but i just disagree letting it all out at an important time in a match we were trying to hold onto at a player lacking in confidence already and just back from injury! It made things alot more nervy than they should have been.

  90. JonJon

i like your rationalism A and ive said before your optimism is to be admired in you my freind

    im optimistic too sometimes

but other times i could tear my hair out cos i know the team is better than this.
if i supported spurs i could understand, ;) but arsenal runs through my blood and we a better than wat we have been this season.

a couple of players in jan and the return of a few injured ones and we are in for an exciting end to the season, but wenger has to start kicking some arse cos alot of these players have been a let down this season

  91. ethangunner

    A

as you know wenger needs to sell prior to bringing in ..
and if he sells the dead wood and replaces them with experience
im sure we would all be happy .. and as all those 3 play in the midfield
then its only natural he will replace them with more midfield players …

you have bitchslap and dudu to come back , toure who should be groomed as our DM .
as against leaving him on the bench and playing song !
denilson is ok i think he will come good .. im not sure how long he will take to become
as such but as ever wenger has time ….

nasri and theo are a blow too the team being out , and whilst i think of it so is rosicky .
but these guys wont play too bigger part over the next month anyhow toure included even if he does come back early ..

i hear you as far as not getting rid of the dead wood , but knowing wenger who needs to sell prior to buying , can you really come up with a plan B ? if not what i have stated ?

  92. A

ha cheers jonjon, i just want to keep faith and believe it can still happen this year, it depresses me too much to think otherwise!!

I don’t think arse has to be kicked, quite the opposite, i think the kids need to be cuddled and told how amazing they are, until they actually realise it and believe again! We’re a long way from the invincibles, but barca aside there isn’t a big team who is amazing at the moment in europe, and utd, chelsea, and liverpool are all and have all had big problems of their own, which means we still genuinly do have a chance of silverware and success!

    anyways, way past my bedtime
    good debate jonjon
    night

  93. A

yeah that is the quandry ethan. Eboue can’t be sold because we need him in case sagna was out for a while. We could sell song if we got in a replacement, but we wouldn’t be able to get enough money for him to buy anyone better, likewise diaby! I don’t think there is a solution, i’m sure we’ll have some money to spend in jan, and at least one quality player will come in, but we won’t be able to make wholesale changes. Unless of course City want ade for 40 mil then we can sort ourselves nicely!
