Wilshere will be 36, Ramsey 37 and Cesc 36, what happened to youth?

Ok I am taking Arsene’s comments and applying the youngest, oldest rule here, he said his current team will have a future at Arsenal for 15 to 20 years, so if we say the youngest members, like Jack and Rambo get the 20 year one, and Cesc at 21 gets the 15 year one, they will be all in their middle 30’s by then, and far too old to play for Arsenal, so what exactly is the boss talking about?

And that has always been my question, when Cesc gets to 24, his successor will be 20 and should be replacing him, so when Cesc reaches the age when he is most marketable, playing his best football and worth the most, we sell him and replace him with a younger player, who himself is now entering the twilight of his Arsenal career at 20!

Doesn’t make sense does it? You can only build a young team once Arsene, and if they are good, they will dominate, much like the Mancs did, and then you can’t split them up, so you keep them until they get old and by doing that you stifle the young crop, pissing them off so forcing them to leave early and so on.

So through all this experiment, you wait 6 or 7 years for the team to grow up, get a few years of domination, then they get old and break up, experiment doomed, what we should do is blend youth with experience and by that I mean a few 24, 25 and 26 year olds, not a 31 and 30 year old.

All this is to try and make sense of what the boss was saying about 15 and 20 years, so not a criticism just trying some theories out, and whichever way I cut it, the theory makes no sense, other than Arsenal save money.

Or do they? What we end up with is 20 odd mediocre players earning good money instead of 4 or 5 stars on great money, the end result is the same size wage bill, except one team wins trophies and the other doesn’t, which one would you rather be? and which one do you think we are?

What is clear to me is that Song is not an exceptionally talented footballer and if he plays today I expect us to lose. So onto today.

I would think the goalkeeper will be Almunia with a back four of Sagna, Gallas, Silvestre and Clichy. I would like a midfield of Nasri Cesc Ramsey and Vela but I expect a midfield of Nasri Cesc Song and Denilson.

If you want to put a bit of steel in there Arsene, put Kolo in and not Song, if anyone can tell me what attributes Song brings to this team, I’m all ears.

Forward line has to be Robin and Ade, though it wouldn’t surprise me to see Denilson and Song in a 5 man midfield with Ade on his own, I won’t be horrified with that but if he does it, then put Kolo in there instead of Song.

I feel Scolari will show a lot of respect toward us and play with a packed midfield, leaving Anelka alone up front, I don’t think it will be a free flowing game but more a tactical game of chess, I only hope someone drops the box that holds the chess pieces on Ashley Cole’s head early doors.

I will go for an Arsenal win, but if he plays Song, a Chelsea win, this has nothing to do with a ‘Song witch hunt’ I have never disliked someone I have never met, I just think he offers us nothing other than liability, I’m sorry Alex, but you’re not good enough, anyone else in the entire squad I would not have a problem with other than you, sorry mate, I’m an Arsenal fan.

Let’s shut these chavs up boys, it’s been a while since we collected our customary points at the Bridge, 4 years in fact, go get three points Arsenal, show the world what you’ve got and how you can play, show the world you’re The Arsenal!

i’ma say that there is going to be a few goals today, and i think 2-3. ade will be keen to prove he’s fit and will bag a brace, with cesc or nasri scoring the other. go gunners!

    Geoff

ur post is a intresting one. Food for thought indeed. as like you said Cesc and so on in there 20’s wenger speaks about 15 years later. so Cesc will be 35.

by that time we would have sold him already. i hope someone points this out to wenger at the next interview or somthing. id like to hear what he says

Strange but true - we have let in more goals than Fulham, but have scored more than any team other than Chelsea.

I’ll back us to score today and pray that Gallas, Silvestre and Almunia have a blinder.

  18. rookie Says:

    good post Geoff….

i think we will have to contend with Song coz kolo is still injured…..

how about playing Robin on right nasri on left and Ade and nikk upfront??????

Ade and nikk combine well…better than nikk and Robin and even some times better than ade and robin

  19. rookie Says:

And keeping cesc and denilson in mid

  20. James Bartram Says:

rather van persie in my team than adebayor. ade just has heaps of phyisical prowess! bendtner needs more time, and the right attitude. he occasionally seems lazy when he’s not on the ball. we might see him in a sub role, but i doubt he’ll start unless ade isn’t deemed match-fit.

  21. James Bartram Says:

that said though, both bendy and ade are front-liners. rvp is a 2nd striker, so ehh. i think he’s an assured starter, and who partners him is upto wenger.

  22. spurdozer Says:

Van Persie is not a player this team needs. He’s a luxury player, which sometimes can win you games single-handedly. But those games are very rare.

  23. Geoff Says:

So far the results have gone our way, if the Mancs draw or lose and we win, we’ll be back in there.

  24. spurdozer Says:

BOLLOCKS TO GOOD LUCK CHARMS. :-D

  25. raif Says:

to be honest RvP is playing rather Crap, and comes far far to deep to get the ball. when he does there is NO ONE in the bloody Box. as ADE has peeled off to the Wings.

very annoying. i want to see ADE & VELA upfront. a good little and large combo.

    Cole dig at Gunners style

Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has told Arsenal their fancy football means nothing without medals.

The Gunners have not won a trophy since their FA Cup victory in 2005 and look unlikely to challenge for the Premier League this season after losing five games already.

And Cole, whose Chelsea side host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, said: “In fairness to Arsenal, they are playing nice football but look at the past four years and who’s won the trophies? ”

He added: “They are fantastic to watch but I wouldn’t want to be playing for a team that didn’t win anything. Winning trophies is what counts.

“You are not going to be sitting on the beach in the summer at the end of the season speaking about that Cruyff turn you did back in December, or that nutmeg you did in January, are you?

“What’s the point in that? You want to be thinking about winning trophies. That’s what it’s all about.

“We want to put some silverware on the table this year. And that’s what we intend to do.”

  29. James Bartram Says:

heh, idk… what i do know is that i have a good feeling about this game. manc’s on my birthday was always going to go well, and this is that same deal. i guess whoever plays doesn’t matter really, all we want is 3 points.

gonna throw it out there too but liverpool to be held by west ham too. =P

  30. London Says:

I first open Le Grove at about 8 o’clock in the morning to find out what has been happening on the night shift then my thoughts turn to the idea of if I had to write today’s post what I would say and 90% of the time I am at a loss. It is at this point that I realise how difficult it must be to come up a fresh idea every day and it is for the fact that both you and Pedro manage to do just that, I salute you both.

I reckon that Wenger’s formation on Tuesday was practice for today’s game. It was a bit dull with the emphasis on keeping a clean sheet. I have gone on all season that the sole reason for Song being at the club is for today’s game. I thought his tackling, his passing and his positional play took a step forward on Tuesday but I of course know that they have to take another leap forward for today’s game; although, I still have faith that he can do that. So with that hope in my heart I believe that we can beat Chelsea with Alexandre Song playing today.

    Nasri-Cesc-Denilsom-Vela
    Diaby
    Ade

    Vela should play, high time

    Almuina
    Sagan, Gallas, Silvest, Clichy
    Dinilson, Cesc, Song, Nasri,
    Ade, Rvp,

thats what i think wenger would play.

    THEO WALCOTT QUICK RETURN
Crocked Arsenal winger could be back by February

    THEO WALCOTT - quick healer

    By AIDAN MAGEE, 29/11/2008
THEO WALCOTT could be back an incredible TWO MONTHS ahead of schedule.

The Arsenal wing wizard dislocated his shoulder on England duty and Arsene Wenger feared his teenage star was sidelined for four months.

But following an operation to repair the shoulder ligaments, Walcott’s surgeon is confident he could be back by the end of January.

Walcott, 19, has a reputation as a quick healer.

And sources close to the former Southampton star believe he could easily be fit before England’s next game against Spain on February 11.

  41. gooner 2 Says:

In 3 years cesc WILL go. Why? Because the man blocking his place at barcelona, xavi, is now 28 and therefore will be 31 in 3 years time. Then and only then is he ripe for replacement by cesc at barcelona - and cesc and his manager know that, as much as they knew and saw that cesc would never get his chance at barcelona as early as at arsenal. This is what i call perfect career planning. Wenger knows all of that and therefore ramsey is being groomed as cesc’s sucessor for the next 3 years. And with cesc having a contract until 2014 wenger is sure to either get a good transfer fee from barcelona or that cesc will have to pay some good money should he decide to buy out the remainder of his contract.

  42. choy Says:

i think ramsey will be a good replacement for cesc in 3 years time!!

  43. ikon Says:

Diaby is injured?? didnt know that.

Well then RVP and Ade upfront is the only choice we have.

But not playing seasoned wingers in their proper places is hurting the team.

Teams would easily know by now that Nasri comes inside almost everytime, and right wing is useless without theo. Ramsey was piss poor midweek there. At least vela has played a whole season on the flanks, and he can own bosingwa whenever he wants.

But Arsene as we all know would want to play song. I see no way in us winning or even drawing if song plays in mid.

  44. ikon Says:

Ramsey can easily fit beside cesc. and imho… cesc is irreplaceable, much like henry, pires and viera.

  45. London Says:

Gooner2 - Nail on the head.

I would bet a lot of money that the Cesc situation unfolds exactly as you have just described.

  46. choy Says:

we need vela on the left wing.. that boswinga will rape nasri and clichy just like ashley young did to sagna an clichy!!!

  47. choy Says:

    i mean sagna and theo

  48. London Says:

    Choy

I’m with you I would prefer Vela on the left but it will be Nasri as he has some defensive qualities where as Vela has none.

  49. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

A word or 2 re Ashley Cole

    1. If he had not played in the Champions League Final in Paris, Arsenal would have won. Ashley Cole cost us the Title,

    2. If Arsenal had not fielded their juniors against Chelskis seniors in the Carling Cup, we would have won the Title,

    3. If Chelski don’t win anything this year, it will be 3 years since they have won a Title, &

    4. Gael Clichy is a superior player to Ashley Cole.

    4.

  50. Stu Says:

Morning everyone, Vela wont get a start because he never does. Why start your on form striker when you have a fit Ade and RvP? Wenger knows!

  51. finestcuts Says:

Chelsea talk about trophies, but the same applies to them, did they win a trophy last season? Almost. But so did we, we almost won the title. So their trophy talk is of the Jose Mourinho days, and when Roman was winning trophies he still got bored and wanted some proper football, and sacked Mourinho. So Joe Cole can ask Abramovitch those questions, and what about their losses against Carling cup teams, is it because Chelsea played fancy football and didn’t win?
Will the game be very tactical? Yes, but both teams will play attacking and open football, both are designed to play like that, however if Chelsea score first, they’ll probably try to lock it up, if we score first we’ll go for the second goal.

  52. choy Says:

but who will play on the right then london? please not denilson!!!

  53. choy Says:

    I hate chelsea

  54. Stu Says:

gg9, i completely agree with the first point but i dotnunderstand how he cost us the CC final.

  55. Geoff Says:

London, thanks, it’s because I love Arsenal so much talking about them comes so easy, I’m the one no one asks how Arsenal are doing at a party!

As for Cole saying who’s won all the trophies for the last 4 years, who won them all the 4 years before that? and what did those cunts win before Gangster boy drifted into town with all his stolen money eh? Fuck all and no league title for 50 years, cunts.

  56. Kevin Says:

I want wneger to play nasri alongside cesc. Meaning he plays rvp out wide, and probably…………………well hopefully he plays rambo out on the wing. We must ATTACK because we cannot defend. I will not accept him playing both denilson, and song in the same side. Everytime he has done that we have looked terrible.

  57. doublegooner Says:

The project of creating a 15 / 20 year production line only serves to make us an upmarket Crewe.

If you look at exceptional talent like Wilshire & Ramsey developing at the same time, can they really fit into the same playing side together with Cesc, or does that mean we’ll lose Cesc or one of the other two in the next couple of years. If they did all play together the side would still be too light & inexperienced & likewise even without cesc we’d still need the the experienced CM.

I think Coqelin looks a very intersting prospect but again he’s at least 12/18 months away & he’d have to come into a lightweight team if we carry on the currect policy.

Unless we add experience we’ll continue this cycle of what we’ve become in the last 3 years & win nothing.

Does this policy support ‘ we have to sell before we can buy’ theory ?

  58. London Says:

    Choy

I am afraid so he is going to play Denilson on the right. Wenger practised in the week with Denilson playing left wing. I don’t agree with it.

  59. gallic Says:

Play to win and not entertain and the gunners will be on the way.If the gunnerws insist on passing and passing, it’s the end.

  60. Stu Says:

If Wenger sees Cesc as a 26year old, does that also mean that when Cesc reaches 30 (in Wengers mind) will he even still be here and if so, will AW only offer him a 1year conract?

  61. Geoff Says:

Double it doesn’t because we sell 3 and buy one, and the one we buy is 21.

  62. doublegooner Says:

The arguement about whether there is or isn’t transfer funds available doen;t hide the fact of the ridiculous tactical choices Wenger goes for like Denilson on either wing or playing Song at all let alone at RB with Eboue in front like he did earlier.

  63. Geoff Says:

Double, you are spot on my friend, spot on.

  64. doublegooner Says:

    Geoff:

I suppose I was trying to make the same point.

  65. Stu Says:

I cant believe im saying this but i wold much rather have Eboue on the right that have Denilson on either wing. Denilson is not now and never will be able to play wide.Another thing that AW doesnt seem to realise.

  66. patthegooner Says:

The thing is, it is not personal Alex Song, I am sure you are a nice bloke, and it is not your fault that you are being picked,

But this is going to have to get personal soon. If this insistence to play a liability continues, I fear it is time for some banners to let Wenger know that we are not amused.

I can only think that this is stubborness due to the Exceptional Talent Visa. If this was a football version of the X-Factor, he would not have got passed the auditions. If this was his first season then you would maybe understand it, but he has been here years, and has shown no improvement on talent, potential or class. I honestly think his level is maybe Championship but definately not Premiership and definately not CL and Top 4 Premiership.

Wenger I will give yourself and the rest of the Scouts and Coaches ultimate respect for uncovering and nurturing the likes of Ramsey, Cesc, Wilshire, Afobe, Vela etc but you seriously have got it wrong with song.

Prediction today Chavski 2 Arsenal 3 (Ade 2, Song 1 (Well he is bound to now))

  67. doublegooner Says:

Most are of the opinion that we want Wenger to get it right & of course his past achievements, on & off the field are unquestionable, however this is now & that was then & we cannot carry on as a club as we have done the last 3 years.

I cannot see what it is going to achieve.

He just worries me as I wonder whether his best days may have past.

It has been pointed out a few times on different media/blogs that Wenger has been known in his past as Mr Nearly Man. I was reading the biography by the guy Rivoire, which was very good, but it does make you think that.

I also believe that on each ocassion we have won a title we have never then repeated it the following year when we really should have done.

  68. doublegooner Says:

The Chavs are a nothing club.

I posted some link from one of their blobs this week where they were bemoaning their own support & the fact what is the point of considering a new 60000 stadium when they couldnt seel out for today !

  69. kelsey Says:

Geoff well said in this mornings post.i actually wonder if wenger thinks anymore before making quotes like the above.
In wengers 12 years how many have come through the youth system to the first team.
Disregarding Vela, who is an aged pro at nealy twenty,we have ramsey and Wilshere who look like making the grade, though i am a supporter of simpson, who at least looks like a striker and always has one thing on his mind to try and score. He was i mpressive against wigan and at least offers as much as nicci at he moment.of all the others they might get a living in the PL.
Ade is out of form, but his presence upfront will cause problems,if he remembers the offside rule.

Today i fondly remember the kanu hat trick when we were 2-0 down and i still don’t know how he scored the third.

I fear for us today and a draw would be a good result.how often lately we have gone ahead only to lose, but of course there is no drogba or senderos today.

If wenger wants a production ine of kids then i suggest he gets a job as c.o. with ford.

  70. gunner Says:

The point about these young players is they will deliver in three to five years. Can AW guarantee they will really blossom. I’m afarid he won’t be able to give a 100% guarantee. These players need time and they willl not be risked if Arsenal lurch from defeat to another. I’m not saying the gunners will lose to Chelsea but the blues are favourites.
On another note,Cole has said Chelsea play to win and not entertain. I am in in full agreement with this statement.Enuf has been said and written about this topic. All top managers play to win and not entertian and weave intricate patterens which confuse even their own players.
Incidentally the WBA manager has stuck to his guns regarding pretty soccer. He has refused to play to win.
Well I’m afraid when relegation rears its ugly head at the club doors will he forced to change tack. The same with Arsenal.
As we all know it’s hard to combine pretty soccer and win. Only AW believes it can be done. He has been proven wrong these few seasons . Maybe he will get it right this time.If he were to lose toniteneed I say anymore.

  71. Mandanda Says:

Song’s average but appears to be our most disciplined player in the CM position. I’ve had the Song debates several times on here and would not be having anymore, so this is my last word on Song. The problems in the team goes far beyond Song and quite frankly it starts to get tedious/boring/meaningless/retarded when all you see on the blog is Song this Song that…

However, seeing how well Yaya Toure played last night for Barca, I would like to see us try a player of a similar build in JD tried in that holding position in midfield.

I’m going for a draw today, a win wld be a massive bonus. Have a nice day grovers

  72. patthegooner Says:

retarded, that is a bit Strong Mandanda, I was ok with your post until that word came out.

The Post was about Song, so we are posting our views on him.

You are correct though the problems are beyond Song, he is merely the make-weight to fill the problem that was created by not replacing Flamini, Diarra and Gilberto.

  73. Maciek Says:

    Hello!
    My team for today:

    Fabianski

    Clichy Gallas Djourou Sgana

    Nasri Fabregas Toure Ramsey

    Vela RVP

Subs: Almunia, Silvestre, Denilson, Song, Diaby, Adebayor, Bendtner.

  74. doublegooner Says:

    Kelsey:

You mentioned the Kanu hat trick & that makes today a good omen as that was the last chav away game I missed being away on business until today when I have had to sell my tickets for a family function starting at 5pm.. :(

Maybe we’re gonna do it !

  75. patthegooner Says:

I am actually in no doubt that if you asked Wenger at Gunpoint (As it is the only way he would not answer with Spin) why the three were not replaced then he would be honest and say that he thought that Denilson and Song would step up to the plate just like Flamini did, and now it is just a case of persistence in the vain hope that one of them might become a World-Class Midfielder…..Which we all know is not going to happen.

I just hope that despite the public spin, that he realises that he did get it wrong. i guess we will all know by Jan the 31st

  76. Bob Says:

FGS put Djourou as Cm, he can’t be any worse than Song or Denilson.

  77. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    stu

he didn’t, if we had played our senior team we would have won.

Alright just going for a few zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz’s see you just before kick off.

  78. kelsey Says:

    pat,
good morning.i have had this discussion before about certain players stepping up,and you mention denilson and song yet you could include nicci and theo as well.At the end of last season there was only 10 weeks until we started with preseason tournaments.players don’t step up in such a short time.i am also pretty sure that if we had a more experienced and larger squad, theo would still be held back as physically he needs beefing up and ,he is not a regular in the starting 11,if you get my point.Players dont peak at 19 or 20 and many nnever make it.We have been forced to play players who should still be understudies.

  79. Stu Says:

gg9, i stil dont get what that has to do with Cashley tho.

  80. patthegooner Says:

    Morning Kelsey

I agree with that, If I am being honest, I did expect more from Theo and Nic.

I think Theo will make it but I dont think Nic will. I can see him ending up in a position similar to Sidwell and Bentley, good players but not quite top four quality.

  81. blazon Says:

    geoff…

your Song phobia is spoiling the pleasure of reading an otherwise excellent blog…you’ve said it once, you’ve said it a thousand times, we know how you feel, you don’t pick the team, move on.

there are those of us who may feel exactly the same about him - or other players…in my case it’s Denilson… I think he’s the epitomy of mediocrity…he can’t shoot, he can’t tackle, he passes sideways, he flinches on 50/50 balls, he falls over on minimal contact- etc etc etc…blah blah blah…I could go on and on about him, his presence appalls me…but say it and then desist.

    I love the blog, cheers.

Hey I don’t wanna hear it either. Song is an obvious problem, so obvious that every Arsenal fan can see it, and that’s why he’s getting stick. When such an obvious problem is sorted out, then we’ll hear the end of it. I agree that there are more issues than just Song in the team, but I don’t think those who currently hold a critical opinion of Song would disagree. Lets hear the end of it and sort the problem out.

  83. avenell Says:

    Morning Grovers..

Geoff what are your views on that Alex Song bloke??

  84. Donjohnni Says:

what the hell are you drivelling about? No 30 year olds and some 25 year olds? We already have those. Wow! You are a footballing genius. PS I hate your guts.

  85. kelsey Says:

    avenell.,

you are a cheeky bastard but i love your sense of humour. :)

  87. Sharky Says:

On Song? very much not I’m afraid chaps……putting it in to Queen’s English……………………..he’s fuckin shite mate! Cmon the Arse, do the Chavs but with Song and Denilson…no way

  88. Rasputin Says:

    Morning Grovers

It’s strangely quiet on here today. A cold, wet windy day would seem to favour the more physical team (not us!). I’m hopeful of a win, but a draw would not be a bad result. My optimistic hunch is that Ade will have a blinder and run their defence ragged and their recent mediocre form will contine. 2:1 to the Arsenal.

  89. avenell Says:

    Kelsey.. :)

  90. Geoff Says:

Avenall I’d like to know how he by-passed the reserves.

  91. Stu Says:

We should buy Marlon King. Im being totally serial!

  92. finestcuts Says:

Some gooners are going by the form book Rasptin and getting ready to be turned over by Chelsea. But it’s a derby, the form book isn’t accurate when it comes to derbies, that’s what’s in our favour and these sorts of weather conditions are very good for us.

    Current Nearest Observations:
    cloudy 3°C
    N (8 mph)
    Relative Humidity (%): 93,
    Pressure (mB): 993, Falling,
    Visibility: Moderate

Low wind, low pressure, light rain = we can run loads, put the workrate in and not overheat, light rain makes the ball faster, our game is suited to today’s weather.

  93. chris Says:

interesting read this morning, good stuff, i wonder is it juts goal keepers

for streaming the match today go here,
http://www.veetle.com/viewChannel.php?cid=48cb03bd8ab18 download teh veetlke program and you will have fox soccer channel i like it but make sure you get eth software now and not at 4oclock

  94. avenell Says:

Theo by-passed the reserves…. and Ramseys doing it now too..

When we send a player out on loan, it’s normally the beginning of the end, not many have made it back.. Song has..

up until January has got to be his last chance and he hasn’t stepped up so, Wenger will buy a player for his position and he will go back to 4th choice or be sold!!

All those who wanted Roy Keane as manager… Have you read todays headlines??

  95. Rasputin Says:

Finest - I love your attention to detail, you should be appointed official stato for the site!

OK so you’re saying the weather favours us. We don’t quite have the riches in players with ‘ball control’ we used to, but I hope you are right. From an analytical point of view, there are many other parameters to consider - home advantage, recent form, match fitness etc etc - it’s a good thing games aren’t decided by mathematicians otherwise we wouldn’t win any at the moment!

  96. patthegooner Says:

    Chris

Thanks for the link to Veetle, I had heard about it but never tried it.

Is the Quality always that good?

  97. avenell Says:

Finest…. When is high tide on the Thames? For when the ball boys have to retrieve the ball from one of RVP’s free kicks.. :)

  98. Rasputin Says:

    avenell ;)

  99. chris Says:

for me in ireland pat, yes. only small issue is tends to need updating every week or so when u expect just to get eth match so that is why i suggest doing it now so all u have to do is hit teh link later and u should be laughing

  100. chris Says:

so what is the biggest joke of the day,

Roy Keane who is a cunt,
Joe Cole saying he would not like to play for us
or woodgate claiming they will finish in the top 6

  101. choy Says:

i think we stopped running a long time back!! nowadays we just stroll about the park!!!

  102. Geoff Says:

Yes Avenall but Theo and Rambo are fantastic footballers, Song can’t even pass the ball to one of his own players.

Theo scored a hat trick for England and Ramsey scored two blinders for the Wales under 21’s against England, Song’s not in the same class.

If you believe he is pray enlighten me.

  103. rookie Says:

    any link for todays game?????

  104. xeeez Says:

Hiya grovers let us kick some Russian ass!

  105. rookie Says:

and people who think that Xavi is a hindrance in cesc’s transfer that is completely wrong…. Barca are not waiting for three years they are constantly trying….Marc Ingla admitted that they asked about cesc during the summer when they were negotiating for hleb but arsenal said they want to build team around him…..so no chance of transfer right now….although it can happen after three years but not due to xavi….

  106. chris Says:

rookie see my above post, @ 12:10

  107. rookie Says:

    hows this link chris?????

  108. charybdis1966 Says:

Afternoon all, fingers crossed for a continuaton of the Chav’s poor form to heap pressure on Ken Livingstone’s long lost brother….

  109. chris Says:

i find justin a joke frankly put sometimes needs must prevail,

so far it seems the best option try it now i assume the manu match will be on it also, i also use sopcast but like i said so far eth better choice and its in english

  110. chris Says:

hello chary, good to see u

  111. charybdis1966 Says:

Hello chris - hope you’re well. I’m half way between the feeling of the ManU game and the Citeh game - sneakily thinking we could win it or expecting to fall flat.

  112. rookie Says:

    chris how to use it?????

  113. georgian-gunner Says:

  119. charybdis1966 Says:

Yes Chris, I did see the Dirk test run of 2 Merc’s but it was on the Fiver digital channel also.

I liked his comment after being told about test-driving second hand cars “I’m a big fan of second hand things - second hand career and second hand women”.

It’s the way he tells ‘em.

And at the end he says “Can I take my toupee off now ?” :)

  120. rookie Says:

  126. Confidentgoner Says:

It seems the whole world know our current predicament. This from a Chelsea blog:

“Arsenal have very evident problems with (a) dealing with the aerial balls (b) handling the crosses in the box (c) defending set pieces (d) allowing on-target long shots as there are no/quality defensive midfielders (e) letting in on-target long shots thanks to Almunia (f) handling the opposition’s through the middle attacks (g) holding the ball in the midfield with cricketers like Song, Diaby, Denilson and Eboue. You heard it all here. If any team exploits all these weaknesses, they’re gonna score against Arsenal or even beat them. Chelsea has the specific qualities to take advantage of all these weaknesses.”

I think we need to go out there and spank them to keep them wondering what has hit em.

  127. avenell Says:

hopefully histon can beat leeds and we get them

  130. Swedish Gun Says:

    ahh..thats explains it :)

    forgot the 1h diff

    thx avenell

  131. andy c Says:

who is the ref this afternoon?

  132. Confidentgoner Says:

    avenell,

You reel out all the stats for players etc. Do you mind telling us which site you visit for these stats?

  133. Stu Says:

    Confident,

why do you always have these quotes from Chelsea Blogs?

  134. andy c Says:

    know thy enemy stu!

  135. Stu Says:

But the chelsea bloggers are hardly our enemies. The club are but the fans aren’t really, but whatever.

  136. avenell Says:

    Confident..

Why? Are the stats wrong? Let me know which ones are and I will check them If I get time..

  137. Ja_Gunner Says:

    I would play this team.

    However I know Arsene wont.

    ………………….Almunia……………………..

    Sagna…….Gallas………Djourou/Sylvest…….Clichy

    ……………..Cesc…………..Song/Denilson………..

    Van Persie………….Nasri…………………..Vela…….

    ……………………Adebayor……………………………

The front four are free to attack. Cesc is free to join then when he wishes and pick them out from deep. Song/Denilson stay back and cover for Cesc when he goes a lil forward.

Vela prevents Bosingwa from attacking too much. Nasri would be much stronger down the centre, Van Persie cuts in to shoot, allowing Sagna to com up and cross sometimes. And if Ade actually stays in the box like last season he could score.

This is the best team based on who is available I think. Remember Kolo, Diaby and some others are out.

  138. andy c Says:

it doesnt look like man city are gonna do us any favours, they cant string 3 passes together

  139. Just Stick It In! Says:

all this talk from cole & their site really set this game up nicely.

no less than a win is what i expect from the gooners today.

think about it, a win today will send shockwaves to the other teams that we are baaaack in business!

  140. avenell Says:

    Rooneys just scored.. :(

  141. andy c Says:

fuck me histon have knocked leeds out

  142. andy c Says:

he looked offside to me ave

  143. Swedish Gun Says:

City defended like Arsenal and Hart is Almunias clown twin

  144. andy c Says:

they had enough chances to get the ball clear

  145. avenell Says:

    Link Fa cup draw..

    http://www.justin.tv/jungledragon

  146. charybdis1966 Says:

I see the Chavs have got an easy home fa cup draw against Southend - just for a change.

  147. Seb Says:

Song to score today in a 2-1 win for the Arse.

  148. choy Says:

    arsenal vs plymouth… home

  149. avenell Says:

We have drawn Plymouth at home .

  157. Stu Says:

  158. choy Says:

    hhehehe

  159. bergkamp Says:

swedish i didnt think hart did a lot wrong

  160. Confidentgoner Says:

    Stu,

I do that as a reality check. You know the famous saying. ‘don’t get high on your own supply”. Some of the views are no different from what we know already. its not that I support Chelsea but you gotta respect some blog opinions.

    Avenell,

The stats for Huntellaar, v Nisteroy were quite good.

  161. Stu Says:

Hopefully we will have some new signings to show off. Might be just a bit too early tho.

  162. andy c Says:

maybe eddie can play a part against plymouth?

  163. avenell Says:

Confident… I got those off Wiki mate….. I know thet are not always right but they are the easiest.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

  164. Stu Says:

The wiki stats comparing the Dutch records of Huntelaar vs Van Nistelrooy made for some interesting readings, didnt it. Ruud only hit his top form at PSV. We should definately take a chance on Klaas-Jan.

  165. Swedish Gun Says:

    bergkamp

    well.. I did

and im not just talking about this incident…he is really poor in the air aswell

  166. Ja_Gunner Says:

    ………………….Almunia……………………..

This is the best team based on who is available I think. Remember Kolo, Diaby and some others are out.

  167. avenell Says:

My point about the Wiki thing was.. When anyone says about Huntelaar, they say he only plays in the dutch league. But Eduardo only played in the Croaian league and that’s got to be worse than the Dutch one..
Yet Huntelaar has a far better scoring rate than Dudu in a more difficult league.

Huntelaar in the Champions league, the stats are good too 18 goals in 28 games!!

  168. Confidentgoner Says:

    avenall,

Oh wikki! Well, sometimes you get the howler, but all in all very ok, Any news on our selection against the Russians?

  169. Stu Says:

And he has a pretty good record for Holland too. Not sure what it is tho.

  170. avenell Says:

    Ronaldo is OFF!!!!

  171. Stu Says:

Hahahahahaha ronnie gets sent off!!! LOVELY!!!

  172. Confidentgoner Says:

    avenall,

Yeah right, how about Hunt v Nistery? Stats are a part of the picture, not the full picture

  173. Ja_Gunner Says:

    Red card for Cristiano Ronaldo!!!!!

I hope city can take advantage

  174. avenell Says:

    10 goals in 18 games.. :)

  175. Stu Says:

Huntelaar is a proven goalscorer and he would add much needed class to the team that is hugely lacking.

  176. charybdis1966 Says:

    Greaseball sent off at (Middle)East-lands.

  177. avenell Says:

Stats are all we can go on though… We cannot watch every game!! :)
