Swap Flamini for Senderos, we then have our defensive midfielder.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Before I’m shouted down it is a deal that could make sense, Milan clearly don’t intend playing him as their first choice midfield dynamo, he hasn’t replaced Gattuso or anyone else for that matter, he isn’t happy not being the number one, he stays in touch with Cesc on a regular basis, he freely admits he is an Arsenal fan and has all but said he dropped a clanger by leaving.

He stopped short of saying the reason that Arsenal have stuttered this season was because he is missing and we have missed him.

When I saw him running up and down against Pompey I realised that I missed him and saw what Song will never have, if Wenger can bury his pride and ask him to come back, I think he would say ‘what time and where do you want me boss’

He is a Milan player with a 4 year contract so they won’t just let him walk but if we offered them big Phil and Song they may well say OK.

If we did get him back, we would save a lot of money on a Cana, Alonso, Barry or Velosa. Plus Barry and Alonso are not for sale anyway.

Either that or get your cheque book out and sign Xavi. Other news is we are sniffing around Podolski, unless we are offloading Bendtner, I can’t see that, he is very Eduardo-ish and Eduardo played for the reserves this week, so he is on his way back, when I don’t know.

I’m afraid I can’t see that happening, I like him but I think that’s dead in the water, our new CEO should go and find a way of bringing Flamini back, tying down Cesc for another 4 years is a bit pointless as he is already tied to us until 2014 and by then he’ll be too old for Wenger, so why bother?

I watched the under 16′s tonk Scotland last night and our young forward, who’s name escapes me (Afobe?) scored a goal that left him one short of Owen’s record, I tell you what though, he looks good.

Players like that and Simpson, Randall, Merida, Lansbury, Barazite and Wilshere look so good, I’m at a loss to explain how Song is above them all in the pecking order, I mean he by-passed playing reserve team football and he’s not a patch on any of them, I wish that the boss would just explain to us all why, I’ll listen.

I’m beginning to get excited about tomorrow and can’t wait to shove it up the German chavs bottom, he’s predicting that they’ll whip us and be 13 points ahead by Sunday evening, if we play Song he could be right, if we go with Denilson it will be close, if he shoves Rambo in there, we’ll turn the Russian gangster rappers over big time.

I think Billy is due a big game and I think he’ll play him, maybe with Silvestre in this one, there’s no Drogba so we don’t necessarily need Djourou in there, but if he wants to play with a defensive midfielder in there I hope he goes with Kolo or Djourou over Song, my real choice would be Cesc and Rambo as I said, but I don’t think that will happen somehow.

A bit of a pointless day today, we aren’t playing and England will no doubt get stuffed by New Zealand so I may have to do a bit of gardening, ho hum.

Still tomorrow is another day, as Scarlett said to the staircase. Have a great day Grovers, manana the staircase fights back.

    Uba,

I was a Song supporter on this blog. But you have to admit that he lacks speed and his passing (not the 3m sideways one) is often inaccurate. He can improve, but not on pace, so he will be suited to a slower league or as a reserve defender. He has no place in Midfield

I have to admit that he can tackle on a one v one. situation. We have better options for DM currently (JD, Toure and even Dennilson who are all faster), though we should scout for a permanent replacement for Flamini.

I would like to hear from you why Song is so cool.

    Stu

It would only make sense to pay 20mil for Huntelar if the intension was that he would be a first choice starter. So which out of Adebayor or RVP do you think would be happy to spend the rest of the season on the bench?

  3. Stu

I dont really know but I would hope that neither of them would be happy on the bench.

Ade was on the bench against WHU and made the difference when he came on.
Van was on the bench against Stoke and made a joke of himself when he came on.

Remember when we had Gilberto on the bench. He surely wasnt happy but still did his job and proved that he was the only professional at the club. The players we have now are all spoilt brats and Wenger needs to fix that.

  4. A

Why do people assume huntelaar would be first choice starter, when rvp is first choice for the dutch ahead of him?!

villla showed today exactly why there’s no chance they’ll challenge us for champions league, they simply don’t have the ability to beat the teams who they’re favourite against

  5. London

I watched the second half of the Portsmouth-AC it was a cracking game. I agree with the general concensis on Senderos; he was no where to be seen for both goals and he still had the turning circle of a super tanker but Flamini? How rose have our tinted glasses become? Come on he is not that good.

  6. bergkamp

RVP isnt the man we need,he is the one wobbling near the afc exit right about now,he is one of our most senior players,5 years in this team only kolo has more afc first team squad years,an van wasnt even mentioned once for the armband, even denilson got more mentions i bet, thats sums van up,what we need is ade an eduardo back upfront, happy times like last year

  7. London

    Stu

The point I am trying to make is that I don’t think the Huntelar suggestion is practical. Yes I understand we all like to wish for a player: top of my wish list is Messi.

  8. avenell

    Problem is London..

Rose tinted or not.. he was better than what we have now… :(

We used to have quality players who could cruise through games.. now we have players who have to raise there game, like against Man U, 1 in every 5 games..

  9. London

The arm band question came up two weeks after RVP had stupidly got himself sent off at Stoke. Although, I suspect that his petuence made Wenger’s job easier.

  10. Stu

Van is only ahead of Huntelaar for Holland because van plays wide while Van nistelrooy plays in Huntelaars position.

Maybe we should convert to a 4-3-3 with the right personnel. And we should buy v.d.vaart. RvP on the right, Huntelaar in the middle and whoever on the left.

  11. bergkamp

but gael clichy was named an he has been giving points away left right an centre, in a squad of kids, vans name wasnt even mentioned London

  12. bergkamp

we should cash in on van denilson kolo or gallas, buy a new centre back a new midfielder an put faith in either vela or eduardo an give ade till the end of the season

  13. JonJon

Fucking hell its got busy, and are we still on about huntelaar???

huntelaar is to risky at the price ajax want, hes never played out of holland and although hes a great finisher he might not be able to handle the PL

his contract runs out in 18mnths and his price will drop, he knows this and thats why hes refusing to renew it.

the big teams think 20mil + is too risky, thats why hes still at ajax, but he will move soon

id take him when his contract runs but i wouldnt pay more than 10mil for him.

in my world, inside my head, id sell adebayor, kinkyboots and rvp.

id buy villa and kaka and we’ll rule the world

id also sell denilson song and eboue and buy xavi and essien and silva

id sell toure gallas and silvestre and get ferdinand vidic and carvalho

    id sell almunia for buffon

Id make them all captains and throw in a pair of pink boots and theyd definatley join us

    its not rocket science

  14. Stu

JonJon, in your head is everything also made of chocolate, does it rain alcohol and does money literally grow on trees. Because for us to get Kaka, Villa, Xavi, essien etc etc then we would need about £150-200m easily.

  15. London

At the beggining of the season Wenger was working on the basis that he would have: Rosicky, Diaby, Denilson, Song, Bischoff, Ramsey and Wilshire in that order of importance. It was a reasonable gamble of Wenger to assume that one of them was going to take the same kind of step that Flamini did at the begining of the previous season and take, in fact, Flamini’s place. If that had happened we would be saying Flamini is a greedy so and so and good ridence. Unfortuanately, Wenger’s gamble is not paying off. Rosicky has taken much longer than first expected. Song hasn’t hit the heights that were hoped for etc. My only hope is that if it is reaslised that Rosicky is definitely out for the season then a replacemnet is bought in the January transfer window.

  16. bergkamp

the thing is if rossicky came back fit where would he play if he was available and theo was available and nasri?? see i can only see rosicky as a left sided player coz he is so right sided, play him on the right an he is gonna start crossing the ball to van on the halfway line? so it would be nasri on the right wing an rossicky on the left?? what about theo?

  17. gallic

Just read that AW saying his kids will be the dominant force in Europe.Well the moment of truth will dawn in the Chelsea game. It’s only one match and lose the gunners will be fighting for fourth place. Yes I know all the trophies, berths, etc, will be decided in May but from now on we will have an idea how the team will progress/develop.
If the gunners are defeated and no concrete action is taken with the playing staff I’m afraid the gunners could even have to fight for the Uefa cup berth.
Don’t get me wrong. I m not on anti AW crusade but thinks that he is too set in his ways to change the playing style.
The latest by Cole that he will forsake pretty soccer for trophies. AW is adamant that pretty soccer can win trophies. That is the problem. In the face of overwhelming evidence he still believes in his theory but most fans including seasoned observers think he is taking Arsenal on the downhill.
I will be delighted if he is right but the bookies disagree and they are always right 80% of the time.

  18. avenell

The sad thing is, Henry was as good as Kaka.
Vieira was as good as Essian,
and Pires was as good as Xavi..

This is the level we have sunk to!!

  19. Stu

From a full strength squad Rosicky and Eduardo are definate starters for me. The only problem is who else should be in the XI.

  20. bergkamp

gallic tommorow wont tell us shyt, just if we are in the race slightly or completely out, if we were playing stoke tommorow we would learn more

  21. pauly

    agree about Flammini

but Y hate on Song so much-?
hes prolly our best dmf (our only dmf)
Song even owned Essien in african cup

dont compare to Simpson, Randall, Merida, Lansbury, Barazite and Wilshere as none of them are consitent and none of them can defend

id rather sell Denilson or Bendtner, we’d prolly get more for them ne way

  22. JonJon

we could raise that money by selling all of our team stu. ;)

IF rosicky comes back walcott will play up top, ade wont stay next season, another offer will come in and he’ll be off. hell it could even be in jan

AW wont take it 2 seasons on the trot

ade got away with it once, he’ll try it again cos he a prat

  23. London

Rosicky would bring Fabregas back to life in the way that Hleb used to. He could play next to Cesc when the opposition park the bus;his quick incisive passes would help cut through and he can score form the edge of the box. I was talking about rose tinted glasses earlier on, well mine are so thicjk when it come to Rosiky that I can hardly see for petals.

  24. bergkamp

stu id play rossicky left theo on the right an ade an ed up front, thats usin the possible available selection, nasri can sit on the bench ,no dissrespect but i think tom rossicky has got something in his game we miss

  25. avenell

I would rather we paid £100,000 each a week to 11 world class players..
    Than £50,000 each a week to 22 average ones…

  26. Stu

It has become obvious that Wenger only has one thing on his mind and that is the CL. He has won everything else and the CL is all he wants now.

The problem is this: if he goes all out for the CL, doesnt get it and finishes 5th then the board have no choice but to take firm action. Either that or Wenger will vacate the hotseat voluntarily.

If he gets no CL but still gets 4th then the board will be satisfied that there is another year of CL football and Wenger will remain.

Not getting CL football would be disasterous for a club like ours so it will be interesting to see what will happen if we dont finish in the top4. Will Wenger live to fight another…er, year. Or will the board think, “no CL money? Whatever will we do now?”

  27. bergkamp

well i hope they are more willing to play with a runny nose than half of our players avenell, i think we have a few who cry games off, i reckon whenever we play away nasri calls arsene on the room service phone an tells him he’s got the shyts,he will see him back at london colney on monday morning

  28. JonJon

avenall you took the words right out of my mouth mate.

You know this webster ruling, its left us fucked with cesc, the webster ruling states a player can buy out his contract after the third year,

cesc is contracted til 2014. he signed it in 2006, if he doesnt sign a new contract this year we’ll lose him next year for cheap. barca would just have to give him a 15/16mil signing on fee, and he could give that to arsenal and move to barca.

and theres nothing we can do about it.

  29. bergkamp

oi oi london did you see them pictures of NIK givin it some kareoke ,i bet he was singing something stupid like born in the usa lmaoo

  30. Stu

I would play Rosicky left, Nasri right and Theo can be an impact sub as either a winger or as a striker. His pace is basically all he has (right now). And i suppose he isnt a bad finisher either.

  31. London

    Bergkamp

Nasri has not put in a decent performance away from home yet. I hope he makes the call to tomorrow and Wenger plays Vela.

I know that Nasri is still settling in but Vela is more direct.

  32. bergkamp

as long as when he swings he doesnt miss the ball, like his last few attempts Stu, theo has the potential to be a top player or just another aaron lennon,i pray to jah for theo daily

  33. bergkamp

id play vela directly up top tommorow with ade, john terry and alex would be worried because they havent seen enough of him to know if he is at all predictable, he would frighten them purely off that, id play the van wide ride,i think nasri left, i aint getting involved in the denilson song cesc debate, that would keep me awake

  34. bergkamp

lmaooo JonJon if there was a prize for most likely song old pink boots was singing youd have won it for my old mans a a dustman………… although he could be belting out ONE SONG WEVE ONLY GOT ONE SONG

  35. Stu

Was watching the invincibles highlights today, its amazing how much the team has changed in a few short years. Even just the front 4:

    Freddie, Pires, Henry, Dennish
    Theo, Nasri, Ade, RvP.

Not exaxtly looking in the mirror is it. The top 4 players were all capable of scoring goals, vital goals too. Even Freddie and Pires were arguable better finishers than our current 4 attackes now.

A remider to us all that change is not good!

  36. Confidentgoner

    London,

The team with the prettiest soccer is ManU, not AFC. We lost it several years ago. We tried to gain it back last season but just could not do it. I hate ManU, but you have to admit that they are tough to beat and are a top attacking side. They can defend well too. barcelona figured that out in the CL.

    Nite all guys

  37. bergkamp

Stu those players are capable too,but they need to learn a thing or two about composure and van needs to learn about team sport

  38. Stu

Bergkamp, Van also needs to learn how to place the ball when he shoots. Hitting it as hard as he can just isnt good enough.

  39. London

Tomorrow’s team is probably the most predictable in a long time.

    ———–Almunia
    Sagna, Gallas,Sylvestre, Clichy
    Nasri,FabregasSong,Denilson
    ——Adebayor,RVP

  40. bergkamp

lmao stu this debate was spoken the other day,van hits the ball sweetly, but thats it , he is known for killing a few kids having picnics up highbury fields with some of his crazy shots on a saturday afternoon at the emirates

  41. Stu

Wish i was here for that debate.

I wonder which scares the crowds more? Drogba and some change or Van Persie stepping up for a free kick?

  42. bergkamp

guys like rvp are the reason why there are nets up at the camp nou to protect the crowd, when the health an safety executive watches motd an see’s an rvp freekick nets up will be added to the stadium bill at the emirates

  43. bergkamp

maybe ade wanted high wages to pay for niks voice coach, ade is his RnB soul career manager, thats why he bitch slapped him down the lane

  44. JonJon

Speaking of avatars, avenall i got my wordpress thingy, but i dont know what to do next, ive been looking for the downloads but im lost, a bit like ade in font of goal

  45. bergkamp

according to wenger he didnt spend more in the summer because he didnt expect hleb to leave, thats according to the star lol

  46. avenell

Jonjon.. you have to register sign up.. go to your dashboard, under your name left hand side.. then my profile ….right hand side.. upload avatar!! ish :)

  47. bergkamp

nah stu he was gonna sign nasri anyway,he wanted him to play either right or left because your lucky to get 30 league games out of either hleb or rossicky (obviously) ,but the nasri deal was held back because marsielle wanted to wait till the new tax year

  48. Stu

Possibly due to the success of Le Grove, Gooner Talk has now coppied the format. I dont know anything about setting sites up and whether you create your own format or whatever the situation is. But GoonerTalk has changed their format from an old one to this one. Coincidence?

    http://goonertalk.wordpress.com/

  49. raif

oh my god. this part next to there name really gets under my skin.

“”Provides All The Latest News, Views & Talk About Arsenal!”"

how can it give the latest news when its last Post was November 21,?????
what a clown. i dont mean to be mean to the people but come on.

  50. Stu

I dont want to be critical of them either but I used to go on there before I began commenting on here and there is no mod on there, a few idiotic views and they get a few things wrong.

They might ave changed since my last few visits but they once posted an article confirming that Inler was in advanced talks with us and due to be unveiled. Le grove all the way now!!!!!!!

  51. avenell

To be honest lads it’s the standard WordPress format.. There is loads of blogs the same Arsenal Opinion, I think Young Guns is WordPress!!

  52. raif

yeah i used to read A***Blog before i found out about Le-grove. now i hardly ever read it. only if i have read every single artical on News Now or Feeling Bored.

but since Le-Grove is full of people commenting by the 100′s on a daily basis that gives everyone a chance to add there own Take on things and have others give theres in return in witch it goes on for ages like a big debate,.

stuff like this makes the Internet community really great,

  53. Metal Gear

I’d want Wenger 2 sign Ramos and play him in the middle as he has all the ingredients 2 play that position he’s quick got fantastic stamina good passer and feisty tackler. 4 me it’s Sergio Ramos.

Why would we need Xavi? We can’t afford his wages let alone his transfer fee and besides he’s not the answer.

  54. raif

    Metal Gear

Ramos could play there. will it work? maybe not. and hemostly plays Centerback for madrid and Right Back for Spain.

i would rather Get Mich Richards for much less and Less Wages, as he can play in all the same positions and you wont need to worrie about him settling into the Prem either.

not to mention Mich is a Gooner. so he will always give his all.

thast thats my thoughts onit. also Madrid wont Sell Him

  55. Metal Gear

Yeah I read Wenger didn’t sign any1 because he didn’t expect Hleb 2 leave. If that’s true it really show’s Wenger is losing it completely Wenger should have fought 2 keep Hleb and Flamini and add more players but he didn’t and I’ve noticed how he keeps saying ‘’we have a very young team’’ and another thing that’s getting on my nerves is the way he quotes what fans want when it’s not the case he was quoted as saying ‘’people want us 2 sign 1 player 4 30 mil’’ I mean is he mugging us off or what?

  56. raif

    Metal Gear

yeah me aswell. everyone is saying how his either over hyped ot just not playing well. but if his got the right people round him then he could be a star for us.

but now Man Shity is mega rich it unlikly they will sell him for cheap.
the best time to have got him would have been when Sven got the AXE. as there was alot of unrest. oh well cant dwell on the past to much. lets just hope Wenger signs somone in Jan to sure things up in the middle.

anyways was mate im off to bed. Till Tomorrow.

  57. Metal Gear

Actually come 2 think off it does Micha have the stamina 2 play that postion? I don’t think so I know that he has good technique with pace and a good tackler but does he have the energy 2 play that role?

  58. raif

you will have to ask Mark Hughes or Mr Wenger himself lol
they would give you the answer you need,

i tihnk he does. along with Kolo. but even if im wrong theres nothing wrong in shearing that role. Look at Alonso and Mascherano for Lpool

  59. Scapegoat

Absolutely agree. You and I share the same vision. Being a big picture man. I dont see the point flamini in Milan. He dont play. They dont need him. We need him. And we will give him games straight away. A really win – win solution.

  60. ethangunner

are you talking about defenders ?
    who would you drop ?
gallas toure silvestre ? johan ?

they have more quality than our DM position or ALL our strikers?
we wouldnt be rumored to be linked with every striker available if that wasn’t a problem area for wenger

finishing ! we need a class finisher . and a DM but having said that we have ramsey – jack and diaby who would be mighty pissed off if we brought anyone in ahead of them .

  61. ethangunner

not too mention denilson who has played alright so far . .

dudu has returned i know but no one said he played well ..
the 1st signs of him sounds too me he’s ring rusty and might not save us this season ..
we need some class in the ranks ..

  62. gnarleygeorge9

    Evening/morning all

If there are any Grovers going today, don’t forget to let the Chavs know who is in the last 16 of the CL & who isn’t :D

  63. gnarleygeorge9

I really think the team owes it to the fans(especially the travelling ones) to put in a big effort today.

Gooners all around the world will be watching/listening you can bet on that.

  64. ethangunner

    GG

he is the total answer geogre
he has an eye for a pass , he can run all day ..
he can be mini cesc .. if both of them 2 can close down a bit defensively
they are like bill and ben mate !

jack shows no fear either .. i remember him V real madrid ! he out played just about everyone on the pitch … he is fearless ! and showed them no respect what so ever !
i dont know why wenger oppresses his best talent …

he did the same too theo with eboue last year … and is doing it too jack now !
i say things are pretty bad currently … what harm could it do ?

no more song – denilson – diaby ! give me jack !!!

    THEO – jack – cesc – nasri ..

when all are firing i cant see a better selection midfield !

  65. gnarleygeorge9

yes, a cameo from him @ 0-2 with 15 minutes to go today would be great :)

Geoff/Pedro if you are up yet, are you going today?

  66. finestcuts

The closer we get to the game, the more belief I have that the team can do it,
but they have to play at their best.
Some people have suggested that we might focus on Scolari’s full backs but that would probably not be Wengers plan since it focuses on only one aspect of the game, it’s not as simple of blocking off Boswinga, besides that would reduce our creativity.

  67. Big Raddy

Not in this household Rico…..

Today shouldshow if making Cesc captain has made any difference to the teams attitude.

Quite frankly, I am expecting us to lose, but if we go down fighting, it will make it more palatable.

  68. rico01

Raddy – thats good to hear ;)

Like you, but a good fight may just surprise a few, a draw would be good, but a 2 or 3 -1 win will set us all up for the week, here’s hoping….

You all have a good day, got stuff to do before the royal visit !! :(

Catch you all when they have gone,

    Be good :)

  69. Big Raddy

    GG.

Thank god our cricketers came home and avoided further embarassment.

What time is the game at your end of the earth?

  70. Jon DeMassey

Well water has passed under the bridge and Flamini is tuyrning out more often for Milan. All the other targets are settled.

But the midfield is suddenly bo longer the Gunners’ achilles’ heel. denilson has had a strong season and Abou Diaby is in the French squad!

Again though the season has collapsed on the traditional Arsenal athletic but indisciplined Afro-European defence. About time to instil some Eurogrit!

Vukasin Devic (Red Star) is probably the best defensive heasder in world football and, though he is a tough tackler, does not seem to attract cards. He is faster than Vidic and more comfortable in possession, completing a high percentage of passes.

    Vuko could be the difference!
