First up… the fantasy Grove standings… are you top, bottom or in need of a serious rethink?

Me? Well, I just had to sacrifice 20 points to sort my team out.

Onto other news. PHW stated today that Arsene will have money to burn in the January transfer window. Asked whether there would be funds available in the transfer window, he replied,

‘Absolutely, yes. There have been suggestions we keep stopping him buying, but that is not the case.’

I assume Peter Hill-Wood was reading the Le Grove comments section the other night and decided to publicly deny the assumptions some of the Grovers were making!

I don’t have any inside information, but I’ve formed an opinion on this matter using the facts we have available.

1. There is nothing in the annual reports to suggest Wenger is being crippled by the property side of the business.

2. Danny Fizsman said the manager has money available,

“It’s not our decision who he spends money on, nor will it ever be our decision. If he said to us ‘I want this guy and he’s £30 million, can I buy him?’ the answer is yes. Absolutely yes. We totally back him. It’s his decision. I’m unfortunately not good enough to be a manager myself but I’d love to be.’’

3. No one has ever come out officially and said that the property aspect of the club is hurting our finances. In fact, totally the opposite. Here is what Ken Friar said earlier in the year,

“The finances for the Highbury Square development have been ring-fenced so they are separate from our usual football business,”

According to Ken, more than 90 purchasers have already completed deals to generate £39m (€49.8m) and 598 units of the 680 total have been pre-sold. So instead of being a leech on our finances, the property will be a bonus,

‘As such we have not budgeted for the profit and this allows the board to be flexible over its use as the money has not been earmarked for anything in particular.

“In that sense it will be a bonus.’

‘We have options available to us. For example, profits could be used to reduce the stadium debt or to strengthen the team if the manager wishes.’

4. The stadium debt does not affect our transfer budget. We turn over £3million (Double Highbury) a game and we have a mortgage to cover the cost of stadium. It is manageable! When asked about whether the stadium would negatively affect our ability to compete, Mr Fizsman said,

‘There is this constant thing that the Emirates is bleeding the club, that we’ve got these repayments — it’s total crap’

He went on…

‘Look at our accounts and you will see our net payments are £20m and the revenue increase from the new stadium is close to £50m. Explain to me how that stadium bleeds the club if it’s producing an extra £30 m-a-year. Our wage bill is very similar to Manchester United’s and substantially above Liverpool’s. It’s substantially below Chelsea’s, but that is expected.’

Can you get any more emphatic than that?

Why are people still trying to make excuses for Arsene? He doesn’t want to spend because he is on a promise. Whether that is right or wrong is a different debate, but until someone can provide categoric evidence he has no money, you have to go on the current facts and they all point to there being a substantial transfer budget (Especially when you do the sums for all the comings and goings, TV money, Champions league money, sponsorship etc…).

On to things of a footballistic nature… Wenger is feeling bullish ,

‘We can play and win everywhere in the world. We have not to consider too much who we play against. We know Chelsea are a great side with a great players. But at the end of the day you beat them if you play at your best.’

I couldn’t agree more… our recent defeats haven’t been down to bad luck, they’ve been down to a lack of fight and a lack of confidence. Hopefully a win on Sunday can kick start a great December.

    Everybody is crying out for a dm.

    Well I know of one that is cheap like Arsene likes it but I think he could do well for the club.

    His name is Rudolph Austin. He is from Jamaica. I know probably all of you never heard of him…but I have wacthed him play for a couple years now. And recently in the world cup qualifiers he was thorn in the side of Mexico, running and tackling everywhere.

    He loves to tackle, has a high work rate and a powerful right foot shot on him. He is about 6ft tall 23 years old and strong.

    He is currently playing in Norway, so he is getting used to the cold. We all know that Arsene does not like to spend big so its targets like these he goes after.

    In fact Rudoplh already went on trial for Stoke and they rate him highly, the only reason they coundt get him is because his work permit was rejected.
    If Stoke wants this guy then you guys know he must be tough and combative.

    I am sure Arsene could find a way to get around the work permit issue….he did it with Song didnt he?…and I am sure Rudolph is better than Song.

    Having read the independent article, I think Mr. Wenger is a bit deluded on his pet project- the youth experiment.

    It is more challenging to manage bigger players and egos than managing a youth side. With the youth side , you can loose and give the excuse of “youth” or “mentality”, with the mature side, there is often no excuse. I think the prof is overrated. He only achieved success with a mature team – the invisibles and promptly dismantled them, for an inferior squad and won f-kall for 4 years. Yes, last years team were close, but the team had some deficiencies at the back and the front strikers. The fluid midfield lacked proven deputies, meaning injuries affected the team more than it should have. Dismantling a side that came close , by allowing 4 key players to leave without replacement, 2 on long term injury , is the height of irresponsibility. On that there can only be one sane excuse – Not enough cash my friends. Fuck the rhetoric of the board!!

    Triple injury boost ahead of trip to Chelsea

    Arsène Wenger will welcome back three key players for Sunday’s crucial Premier League clash with Chelsea.

    Earlier this week Emmanuel Adebayor, Bacary Sagna (both ankle) and Samir Nasri (knee) were all rated at 50:50 for the trip to Stamford Bridge. All three have been passed fit after coming through a training session at London Colney on Friday.

    “We have no injuries from the Kyiv game and Adebayor, Nasri and Sagna will be available, if nothing bad happens in training tomorrow,” confirmed Wenger at his pre-match press conference.

    “They all came through [training] well today. It’s good because we were experience-wise a bit short.”

    The Frenchman will still be without a number of players for the Chelsea game with Abou Diaby, Theo Walcott, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue, Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo still unavailable.

    My grandad was from London, he grew up in the Chapman era and was a die hard fan.

    I lived with my grandparents for a long time when i was young, my dad left when i was a baby and pops brought me up like his own,

    my main gripe is that we should be winning something at least,

    we have had long periods where we havent won the league, but we always won something here and there in between, like the Fa cup or League cup,

    id be happy to win anything and as a ‘top four’ side we should be getting something.

    i dont understand how we went from such a strong position and having some world class players, to what we are now, with a couple of very good players surrounded by average ones.

    i think wenger let the experienced players go to soon and brought the kids in too soon.

    thats why i bitch

    Oh mate i used to get some right stick, in games i used to wear my arsenal shirt, the yellow away one with the yellow and black from the JVC era.

    but it wasnt from leeds fans, you’d be suprised, for the amount of people that live in leeds, they arent that well supported, alot of people either support man utd luckypool or arsenal.

    i went to a multicultural school, its one of the biggest schools in leeds, most of the asian people supported luckypool, most the black people supported arsenal (ian wright wright wright) and all the white people supported manutd, except for me.

    i once had a fight with a leeds fan after school cos he said rocky was a waste of space, so i hit him. :)

    i agree about our current crop being too young jonjon, they’re a generation early i reckon. But i don’t blame wenger at all for it, as i don’t think it was within his control. We havn’t let anyone go out of our choosing that we could’ve realistically kept, but the age gap was just too great, and the ones who would be in between and bridge it, like eduardo and rosicky have killed us. Having starting line ups with an average age we have this season is ridiculous

    Triple T scored 10th minute, then I played on the counter to win 0-1.

    The moral to this game. Don’t play song if you want to win.

    Wenger’s last comment shows his limitation, doesn’t it? Anyone agrees with me?

    Instead of just playing our best, why not doing both: playing our best and knowing our opponent best?! I mean isn’t it the rule of fighting is to understand the opponent before the fight, studying well their strengths and weaknesses? Isn’t that make you a little bit stronger, more adaptive and less predictable, and hence a higher chance of winning?

    that was it. other then that its always been to just go out and play the football they want to play.

    sad thing is he gets throws his toys out the play pen when other teams dont let them play they way they want.

    Arsenal have joined Manchester City and Real Madrid in the race to sign Bayern Munich’s out-of-favour German international striker Lukas Podolski.

    With Emmanuel Adebayor and Eduardo Silva both experiencing problems with injury and Nicklas Bendtner struggling to find the net, Podolski could be just what Wenger needs to revitalise his team’s disappointing start to the season.

    Bayern President Franz Beckenbauer has confirmed that Podolski, who at the age of 23 already has 31 goals in 60 appearances for Germany, will be allowed to leave Munich for £12 million in the January transfer window.
