Unsporting behaviour just made the spectacle even more enjoyable.

A buddhist monk witnessed returning from the Bergkamp testimonial.

A Buddhist monk witnessed returning from the Bergkamp testimonial.

There is a concept originating out of ancient India known as Karma:

‘Through the law of karma, the effects of all deeds actively create past, present, and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one’s own life.’

A great example of Karma in action would be, say, if a Dynamo player went down injured in open play… looked up… saw that his team were attacking… then got up immediately and joined the attack.

The karma would kick in when later in the game, after Kiev fail to roll the ball out of play with an Arsenal player down injured (for real this time), a drop ball is awarded, the Kiev players expect the ball to be rolled back to the keeper… but instead, Cesc fires a 50 yard ball into the path of a player who is wearing pink boots… then that player scores to win the game.

Oh, and then the cheating Dynamo player gets sent off for foul and abusive language after complaining about the righteous path Karma has led him down.

That my friends is what happened last night… don’t feel ashamed, just respect Karma and the effects it can have on your life.

I’m not going to give player ratings today. The game was pretty dull if truth be told and I don’t think anyone excelled/decelled (<- why not?) enough to merit an 11 man write up.

Arsenal’s line up was what we had all been calling for, bar Alex Song.

Almunia

JD Silvestre Gallas Clichy

Denilson Cesc Song Rambo

Vela RvP

I still for the life of me can’t understand why Wenger persists with Song in that position. I guess Denilson does a better job out wide than Diaby…

It was a strong team considering the injuries we have been suffering at the moment, and the game kicked off in promising fashion. The players looked comfortable on the ball, without ever over exerting themselves. We played in a contained manner… never really looking under threat. There was a lot of pretty passing, but very little penetration. I’m struggling to remember too many chances we had in the first half and I am struggling to think of many stand out players.

RvP went close with a couple of good freekicks. The first was fizzed into the box, only for the keeper to punch it away. The second from a similar position, about 35 yards out to the left, was superbly kneed over the bar by Silvestre. It’s a shame nobody told him he didn’t need to defend down the other end as well!

Song didn’t have his best game… but hey, when does he ever? People keep on saying he is lazy because he jogs around the pitch. Sorry guys, I have bad news for you… Song isn’t being lazy… he is just incredibly slow. That jog… is Song sprinting. Song is the only player in the Arsenal team who couldn’t out pace a sit down lawn mower…

What was interesting watching the game from home was the rows of empty seats… actually, that wasn’t what was interesting… what was interesting was the noise coming from the fans despite this. We could really hear the singing from home… and we even noticed a few songs for Willy G! Well played guys… he looked a happy player out there tonight. Geoff informs me that club level has returned to normal… stand up and face ejection. Well… that little experiment didn’t last long did it? Geoff asked me to make a special mention to stewards, Angela and Dwaine Djourrou. Apparently they stepped in to calm things down when an overly officious member of their work force tried to step in.

Back to football… Gallas had a mixed bag. His first clanger was Clichyesque (Birmingham)… but luckily the Kiev chap smashed his shot at the post. Then later on, he managed to flick a Song header into the net with his back to goal… only to be flagged offside. Then in the second half, after a goal mouth scramble… RvP drilled a shot in low and hard at goal… with Gallas there ready to defend the shot.

Someone really needs to tell our defenders they only need to defend up one end! Overall though, I thought Gallas had a great game. He made a superbly timed interception just before our first… so well played that man! Whatever you think of him, he is our best defender. So do your best to grit your teeth and support him… because if we want a trophy this year… he’ll be at the heart of it.

I’d also like to highlight the crucial save Almunia made in the second half. Kiev floated a superb ball into the path of their striker who found himself one on one, but Almunia came rushing out to block his shot. A superb save and a clean sheet to boot. At 0-0, that really was a crucial stop… so a big thumbs up to Al!

A quick mention for the new boys to the team tonight:

Rambo: Not his best performance for Arsenal… but for a 17 year old, he played pretty damn well. His passing was ok and he is certainly more adept at handling the wing than Diaby. It’s a real shame he isn’t a few years older… because we wouldn’t need to go out purchase a new centre mid if he was 20.

Vela: He struggled to make the same impact he usually does. I think at times he held onto the ball for too long… but he is only 19 and he is just finding his feet. One thing that is apparent… he has the same sort of pace and trickery Theirry did… you have no idea what he is going to do next!

Wilshere: You can’t help but get excited over this lad. He is special… there is no doubt about it. His body movement, his pace, his vision and his superb passing make him one of the best young talents to come out of this academy program. He came on… looked a little small for mens football… but he still danced around the Kiev players. The only thing I worry about is a jealous player taking him out to prove a point. You do feel that if Jack was a vase, he’d be one of those Ming dynasty ones… valuable, but fragile… and perhaps only for display on special occasions. He was good, and I think all gooners are united in thinking he should be given a few more cameo appearances this season.

Finally, a word for the great Dane. I have been a constant defender of Nik B’s talent this season… and I’ve come in for a lot of flak because of it. I wrote some pretty strong comments about Nik in my last post… mostly about his fairy boots and his attitude. I suggested Carlos should play ahead of him.

Well, he did… and when Nik came one… minus the hair gel… he proved a point with a sublime take down of a 40 yard pass and a superb finish. That is why I rate him… most of his issues this year can be attributed to confidence… lets see where this goal can take him now. Hopefully he will prove a few of the, ‘he’s a championship player’ doubters wrong in the coming weeks.

So, overall… Kiev were a weak team… but they had an impressive away record and we contained them. I remember years gone by when the invincibles would have given their right pink boot for a ground out performance like that. How many times did we have face up to morning headlines of,

‘Arsenal get suckered after dominating <insert eastern european team>’.

That was a professional performance. A win is a win… lets take it and move onto the next game where I predict we will win again. Don’t ask me why I think that… but I had the same vibe before the ManU game!

Let your thoughts be known in the comments… oh, and remember… wearing pink is cool.

P.S. I had an e-mail from the President of the Le Grove appreciation society Canterbury Christ Church Student Union yesterday checking that Le Grove do not have ill feelings towards students… Liam, Le Grove and it’s authors (One an ex-student) do not have ill feelings towards any group, and definitely not students!

Every group is welcome… well, you know… almost every group!

Loose Song and Bendtner (good goal though).
    Happy for Wilshere!!!

nik does show glimpses every now and then but will he be consistent or are we going to see 1 piece of skill every 8 games

    pink boots

    What goes around comes around…

Wilshere looks tough as old boots to me, he was getting stuck in on the Ukrainians from what I could see! I think he’s definitely harder than Cesc was at the same age.

fuck me, an email from a student union??? Those guys really do have a lot of free time don’t they! Not that I have ANYTHING against students, oh no, perish the thought!

    good post anyway Pedro

i think the red was also for pushing the ref out of the way in addition to the language

  10. JonJon says:

    pedro,

i agree about gallas, under the circumstances he had a good game, i think its abit soon after what happened to expect him to be happy, but if he does want to stay, then we need to get behind him, and show him he does have a future here

  11. kelsey says:

    Morning all,
Pedro I think you have gone a bit over the top in some cases in your post, only my opinion though.Iwill agree that with us having a depleted team, and low on confidence, together with the fact that as you said kiev hadn’t conceded an away goal in the c.l. this season,we have to take the result as a blessing and at lest that competition is out of the way until february.
But confidence hasn’t really been restored and gallas looked miserable, and i am sure he wouldn’t have played if others were available, and i bet you he leaves in january.vela and rvp didn’t work, song is about 3 stone overweight and got worse as the game went on.denilson,as i said yesterday needs a year loan period, and i will only be convinced by pinky if he is consistant.i thought all in all a poor performance, not least expected, but a win is a win.rvp is a luxury player, though one of my favorites.why did he take the corners when only vela was in the box?.We need to up our game against chelsea otherwie we will get thrashed, and confidence will be back to an all time low.

  12. Pedro says:

    Morning Grovers!

I think a more british influence in the dressing room will do the club some good. Toughness rubs off on players I think… hopefully Jack and Rambo can help with that.

There weren’t too many talking points last night? Well… except Gallas looking ok… but we’ll probably have to wait until Jan to find out the extent of that!

  13. stonroy says:

Great post Pedro. One thing about Vela, he does love to attack the defence which is really great to see, I think we have been missing that, I think you are spot on with the comparison to Henry.

  14. Stevie says:

    how tiny is wilshere.

Great player coming through i must say

  15. Michael P says:

    Goodmorning Grovers!!!!

    where is bbk???

I told him we would win!

And we have a bet for the chesea game…which we WILL win!!!

  16. Mark C says:

    Pedro good post.

bedntner looked good, I thought from one angle he hand balled it, and that is what the Kiev players were complaining about.

But as you say Karma – luck has a lot to play in football.

Lets hope our luck sticks with us,

  17. Rasputin says:

    Morning Pedro / Grovers,

Winning ugly and showing determination – I love it………..

Song and Denilson were our 2 worst players. You could see WG really tried his hardest and was devastated when he allowed the defender past even though he didn’t score. Ramsey did OK without the attacking threat he can provide, but its a game under his belt and valuable experience. I thought Vela looked dangerous but just didn’t get the breaks, and I wouldn’t have subbed him – Denilson for LJW would have made more sense. Cesc played a couple of sublime through balls – one of which led to the goal so there was no evidence that the burden of captaincy did anything except enhance his game.

A good night, a great result, if Ade and Nasri are back for the chavs we will win!

  18. Rasputin says:

Morning Michael P – yes, as the ‘broker’ for the bet, I am looking forward to BBK’s humble apology when he has to acknowledge his lack of faith!……….

  19. Michael P says:

Grover, I have a question for ALL!!!!

    Here goes….

If you could choose THREE Arsenal players from the last 5 years to bring back in the squad, from THREE different positions out of GK, DF, MF and FW…

    Who would they be???

  20. Michael P says:

Yes Rasputin, goodmorning to the monk of the Grove!
i’ll be interested to see your answer to my Q!

  21. choy says:

morning all.. what a well taken goal that was.. 1 goal in three games? not a bad return eh?

  22. Pedro says:

Rasp and Michael… BBK hibernates when we win… you wont see him again until we go one nil down or something bad happens.

  23. Sarge says:

Pedro, the ‘real’ crowd was 48,000 last night courtesy of our friendly steward (and there aren’t that many of them in the crowd.

I thought we were uber cautious last night and I got the feeling that not conceding was the name of the game despite having a couple of tricky speed merchants up-front.

Wilshere brought more purpose and guile to our game when he came on probing and looking for angles (something you don’t get with the Brazillian Hillier and Usain Song).

  24. James says:

Does anyone have any idea how song and denilson have become un-dropable……cos im really struggling to see wot wenger sees in them…..short term anyways

  25. xeeez says:

    hi guys..

    Michael P..

Bobby Pires, Sol Campbell and PV 4 :)

  26. xeeez says:

choy that goal was well taken..Wilshire is class btw!

  27. Seb says:

    IVAN KAZIDIS HAS COME

    YEE HAAAAAAA

Chief Exec of The Arsenal Gunners of London England!

Hot dogs and popcorn all round!

  28. choy says:

people does anything know more about the new CEO? accept that he is from the MLS?

  29. choy says:

morning xeeez.. doesn’t a win just keep you smiling :)

  30. Sarge says:

Good point James. I suspect that a lot of that has to do with our injuries situation. However, under normal circumsatances it baffles me too.

  31. Seb says:

Juan Pablo Angel and David Beckham soon to follow… w000t

  32. stonroy says:

So we have a new Chief Executive announed Ivan Gazidis from the MLS.

  33. kelsey says:

choy, morning .it was a tad fortunat goal,he went to control it and it hit his knee though as it was going away from him,he corrected himself from a more acute angle to blast it home.

if i was playing as shit as he has lately,no goals in 8 games the last thing i would do is wear pink boots just to bring more focus to myself

  34. choy says:

    how did rvp play? anyone?

  35. stonroy says:

Arsenal are delighted to announce that after a thorough recruitment process, Ivan Gazidis has been appointed the new chief executive officer, taking up the position in January 2009.

Gazidis, 44, is presently Deputy Commissioner for Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA where he provides vision on all the key strategic and business decisions made by the league and its marketing arm, Soccer United Marketing. He oversees all aspects of MLS competition, including negotiation of the transfer and employment contracts of all the players in the league, managing stadium events, security issues and player, coaching and refereeing matters.

In addition to his MLS duties, Mr Gazidis was the president of Soccer United Marketing’s international division between 2002 and 2006 where he developed and implemented winning strategies for the Mexican Soccer Federation and the CONCACAF Gold Cup as well as innovative new concepts such as American tours for the England national team, Barcelona and Real Madrid amongst others.

Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said: “Ivan’s credentials are first class. It is evident that he has a wealth of business acumen together with a broad knowledge of football that will not only help to maintain Arsenal’s pre-eminent standing but enhance our reputation within the football community and international commercial markets.”

Ivan Gazidis said: “I have been privileged in my 14 years with MLS to have worked with and for some of the best sports executives and owners in the world, whose vision, commitment and expertise have taken the league from strength to strength and provided a solid platform for its future growth. I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to bring that experience to bear at Arsenal – a club rich in heritage and tradition – that is superbly positioned for success in the modern era. I relish the prospect of working with the key stakeholders to further propel the Club forward. It is nearly 16 years since I left the UK but I’m very much looking forward to returning in January.”

  36. choy says:

morning kelsey.. yeah good on him though. first player to score with pink boots

  37. Pedro says:

I mentioned it in a post the other day… he sounds like a bit of a visionary… and he is definitly a Stan the man appointment.

  38. georgian-gunnner says:

    Ivan Gazidis, who???

  39. Mark C says:

I have not slated Song as I wanted to give him time.

Last night I paid attention to him, and yes he is slow, yes he jogs.

But what gets me, is the poor passing.

You cant play in the Arsenal team if you pass like that.

You cant do it as a 15 year old in the U16′s or in the 1st team.

Secondly, whilst he is big, he cant tackle, and he does not seem that strong. Players wont scared of him.

Denilson had a poor game, as he was out wide, but I think if he was playing in the middle, we would have had more bite and speed.

wenger should play a youngster out wide and leave dead wood like Song on the bench, or out on loan.

  40. kingsley says:

seb he’s south african so that means wild bore hot dogs!

  41. Arsenal Tom says:

    morning all…

i think vela gave us a real threat… he gave us that outlet we’ve been missing of the ball over the top and was getting there before their defenders every time, was good to see rather than the ball being smashed into ade/nik’s feet and then it all breaking down!

fab looked like he’d been given a new set of batteries as well… much more energetic

  42. choy says:

    geez.. more of a visionary???

  43. Sarge says:

Choy, RvP was anonymous for the most part. However, his contributions were the most telling. As Pedro said a couple of decent freekicks in the first half and a goal bound shot inside the six yard area in the second half until Big Willy stuck his size 14′s in the way and stopped it going in. I thought his overall workrate and positioning were a bit poor though.

  44. stonroy says:

Yeah Pedro I have to agree with you mate. I think he is going to open up new markets for Arsenal that we would otherwise not have thought of entering.

  45. choy says:

thanks sarge… how long has rvp gone goal less now?

  46. Rasputin says:

It’s a tough one M P, and I really should be doing some work! Do you mean bring them back now or as they were when they played for us in the past = fantasy

No problem with my fantasy 3 if they came back at their peak – Vieira, Campbell and Henry – wouldn’t that be everyones?

Players to bring back at the status they are now is very difficult because I’d have to take into account the way they left, so the only one would be Flamini, I can’t honestly say I’d want any of the others back – just new signings in Jan pls Mr Wenger….

  47. Mandanda says:

I am starting to get worried for RvP, he was suppose to be the talismatic figure that takes us to the next level post-Henry, now he seems to be fizzling out to a squad player with a disproportionately large ego!
I can see us drawing this weekend

  48. Michael P says:

Xeeeez…you got to drop one MF for a striker!

My choice….Sol, Vieira, Henry……I can dream cant I????

    hi guys..

    Michael P..

Bobby Pires, Sol Campbell and PV 4

    spot on

  50. Sarge says:

Can we expect a pre-season tour of the US now or will AW veto that? Interesting times ahead. Commercialisation and an increase in brand awareness vs. the pure football aproach to pre-season.

  51. Arsenal Tom says:

ivan the terrible did all transfers for the MLS aswell?? hopefully we can get back to the days where wenger just says who he wants and the rest is done dusted!!

  52. Pierre says:

liking the lineup, of course Song shouldnt be there, back to the old problem of not replacing flamster, If that one problem had been addressed in the summer, Song would be a permanent stiff and our season would be in a healthier shape.

  53. Michael P says:

Also, when I got in from the game last night I saw the game against the Chavs at the Emirates where we won 1-0 and Gallas scored a header.

The Flamster and Hleb were playing and both had a decent game.

BUT…..there is one player we miss more than both of those IMO…..

    WHO????

    Rosicky!!!!

He made more successful tackles than Flamini and more successful dribbles and passes than Hleb in that game….

Seriously, he will be a big boost for us if he can come back and regain from quickly!

  54. Sarge says:

Choy, RvP’s last goal for Arsenal was in the Spuds game.

  55. Rasputin says:

Ha ha Michael – you chose the same 33 as me – what a ‘spine’ to a team they would provide.

  56. Goonerman says:

We need him now; its all Greek to me.

  57. Michael P says:

Atom…good choice, but one from a different position!!
    Gotta drop and MF mate!

  58. Michael P says:

Rasputin….as they were in the past!!!

  59. Steve says:

Morning all. Great post Pedro. Hate to be pedantic but a “distinct lack of empty seats” would equate to lots of full seats.

And would you mind passing on to the Canterbury church lazy tofu eating student brigade that I fucking hate students. I hate having to pay 40% tax so these pot noodle fuckers can have an easy ride for years at my expense. Thanks.

  68. maqitlarge says:

  69. Pedro says:

    Kelsey, I like that line…!

  70. gooner-pak says:

    and i loved the celebration!!!!

  71. Ali Saljuk says:

Now thats a good reply from the squad , well i think we all agree a win was vital to get the wheels in motion again , now lets take it from here ,some smart decisions , some buckling down , some wearing pink boots and some praying to the high chief of healing injuries , some new blood in jan and some Chav kicking come sunday.

  72. Mandanda says:

    Ivan appointment

positive – he’ll bring knowledge of the US market which may be good for our expansion into that market, (AFC is a business after all).

negative – he’s been away from the UK for a long time, that might mean he’ll need a bedding in period, forming links and so on,

neutral – he may be Stan’s boy in the implementation phase, could be positive/negative I’m sure we can all figure that one out!!

  73. Steve says:

    Sorry Pedro, it’s boredom.

  74. JonJon says:

is this appointment of the ceo a definate guys?

  75. maqitlarge says:

JonJon – Its on Arsenal.com. Thats written in cyber stone as far as I’m concerned

  76. JonJon says:

    lol maqitlarge.

good news then, weve needed someone to steer the ship for a while,

how can a big business like AFC expect to run properly without a ceo for so long???

  77. London says:

Song’s passing last night was no worse than Ramsey’s, Denilson’s and certainly Djourou’s. Song’s positional play was improved; I will only accept a counter argument from those who actually went to the game, if not you only saw what the director of ITV4 wanted you to see.

In fact I would go as far as saying that Song made some good passes last night and the clean sheet reflects equally on him as any other member of the team.

Song is going to play on Sunday… get used to it.

I counted two wayward passes last night; he needs to half that and if he can take another step forward in his improvement he might just be able to play that critical defensive midfield role well on Sunday.

We work with the tools that are available to us.

  78. charybdis1966 says:

    Morning all,
I was at the opposite end of the ground to where Pink scored and when he came on my goon pal said he’d eat his words if Pink got anything for us. So when he did score I thought of Rico pretty much straight away, I know she’s a fan ;) – and I noticed she tried to say it was a handball also, on the comments last night. Bad girl !

Interesting angle on karma Pedro – in Hindu philosophy it’s usually not as instant as last night was – usually karma refers to how your position on the scale of life in your successive rebirths is determined, so your present life actions may not manifest a reaction till a future life is started – not like 10 minutes later for the chicken Kiev player.

Yes, the quick long ball to Pink from Cesc after the drop ball was a bit cheeky but we’ve been on the wrong end of soo many of those twists of fate that we were well overdue it happening for our benefit.

I also noticed Cesc showing himself to be a little more street start than previous skippers. He could see the Kiev players were keen to take the free kick(that led to the red) so he purposely delayed it by pointing out how much the Kiev forwards had moved the ball forward to the original position the free kick was awarded from.

That frustration is probably what led the Kiev player to barge the ref when he got in his way – although he was looking down at the ball when he shoved the ref and perhaps he wasn’t aware it was the ref and though it was an Arsenal players standing in his way.

And I looked out to see if Song was as slow and dopey as all the Grovers seemed to think – yes he is ! He just strolled casually across the pitch and got left behind the play. He reminds me of the fat kid at school who could never keep up with play and always got picked last. In an ideal world that would apply for Arsenal – but we have Wenger doing the picking, doh !

  79. Ali Saljuk says:

He is an administrative appointment and not directly linked to the clubs footballing strategies on the pitch ( He must be otherwise Wenger , PHW would not have hired him). So i think he could certainly do a job , under whose influence and Stan Kroeke’s involvement will be cleared in due course. One thing is for sure , he will certainly take some burden off AW and mayb just push him to sign players and be dynamic as David Dein used to ( in no way am i comparing them both)

Also a huge shoutout to all the fans present at the grove last night. They never let their singing voices die and library was firmly closed. Absolute legends, all of you gooner , absolute legends!!

  80. London says:

“Pinky and Van Perky” nice one, that is going to stick.

  81. Mandanda says:

    Ivan appointment

negative – seems to have worked mainly in the US so does not have the global expertise we may need to compete against the Manure and Madrid on a global basis especially if his remit is ‘strategising’ as this is where most of his experience is.

positive – he should bring that ‘American winning’ mentality to bear on AFC strategy (football and others). it should be easier marketing a winner to Americans and others in the world than losers.

  82. Steve says:

Positive- He is an experienced CEO

    Negative- He is a septic.

  83. London says:

I think in this case I have to agree with Peter Hill-Wood “Ivan’s credentials are first class”.

  84. London says:

The septics know a thing or two about spotrs marketing.

  85. lc says:

I think you are wrong on Song; he had very good game. We couldn’t capitalise on many things, because RVP wasn’t attacking Vela crosses; he was often late. We were missing Ade; but Bentner and Wilshere came in and changed the game. Bentner did just what we were missing in attack.

  86. maqitlarge says:

Go knows JonJon. Don’t know why they sacked Dein without a ready made replacement!

One worry, is this guy just gonna focus on Marketing the club (and merchandising it) rather than attending to bringing in quality players! miind you, he did get Beckham to the MLS so he’s proven he can pull off big deals. (Not saying I ever want him btw)

  87. Pedro says:

    This was a good read:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7661573.stm

    He isn’t impressed with celebrity.

    Good man.

  88. Mark C says:

London – were you at the game last night?

Song was awful last night, I dont know how you can defend him.

Dont get me wrong I wanted him to do well, I dont want him to fail.

In the 1st half I did not notice him, the ball did not really go through him.

In the 2nd half I thought he looked tired, and yes he was walking and jogging.
    He was too slow.
    His passing was too slow.
Yes he did complete some passes, but so what.
He cant tackle, and he did not win any 50 – 50 balls. He gave away the ball to cheaply.

  89. JonJon says:

I think its a good appointment,

if this ivan and kroenke can make us big in the usa, we’ll have a global brand big enough to match man utds

plus hes a top lawyer, so dealing with the property side of things and the contract side should be second nature to him, he can only take us forward.

  90. Mandanda says:

I think Lalas had a bigger role in getting Beckham to LA Galaxy

  91. London says:

That is the difference between me and you Mark, you do want him to fail where as I want him to succeed.

Watch the game again; he did tackle well and he did win the 50/50 balls and how many goals did we let in?

  92. Wolski says:

well, that probably looks like the end of austria for pre season…over to the US for marketing and brand build purposes I guess.

On the game yesterday….poor performance against a poor side…but a win is a win and hopefully it will raise confidence for sunday.

Well AW, you nearly go it right. You just need to take off those Song and Denilson Glasses. IMO Ramsey and Vela need games under their belt now, they showed enough attacking spirit and movement that causes defences problems. Wilshere def. has it, just needs more time but nasri starting and jack threatening his position should be good for both of them.

As for Bendtner, I took my daughter to the game yesterday and she said, why is he wearing girls boots…..why didn’t run to get that ball that was crossed……he looks lazy….15 years old, 2nd game and seems to have a career as a scout!!! saying that he took his goal very well but he willonly ever be an impact player IMO, whenever he starts he does not deliver.

Oh well..boss is in today so work is calling

  93. kenny smith says:

why the hell did Canterbury Christ Church Student Union email you asking if you had ill feelings towards them?

  94. Al says:

What a difference a win makes

I have been on a real downer sice the villa game. Last nights win puts us in the las 16 of champions League, New Captain looks like Wenger has got some help for contracts and transfers.

All in all im feeling positive again

    Bring on the Chavs.

  95. JonJon says:

    song was invisible last night.

at the end of the day, he was in there to anchor the midfield and protect the defence, yet everytime kiev went on the attack song was 15-20 yards away from the play. they cut through our midfield time and again and the defence was left exposed. the defence did well last night, the clean sheet was down to them.

songs too slow, crap at positioning, bottles out of the 50-50, cant tackle, cant head, cant mark up, and cant keep the ball under pressure, but its ok cos he made a couple of sideways passes to a player 5 yards away so he is getting better!!

  96. Steve says:

London, i’d love Song to do well but I just don’t think he has the quality.

  97. London says:

This appointment could shake Wenger out of his comfort zone, which would obviously be a good thing.

  98. GOONER4EVER says:

Well done for the lads and the manager. They played a team that did not concede a single goal away, and yet with all the absentees we mnaged to beat them Well don!!!!!!!After all we played for qualification to the final stages bearing in mind that a 0-0 result would have put us through.Great result taking all the circumstances we had to deal with

  99. London says:

Steve, I agree that is why I added “We work with the tools that are available to us”

  100. maqitlarge says:

Mandanda. Think you’re right to an extent but the MLS pay the bulk of his wages so it must have had something to do with the MLS bosses and in turn Ivan. Just guessing though so don’t take my word for it

  101. Geoff says:

You’re on your own London, everyone else thinks Song is shit, mainly because he is…shit.

  102. davi says:

I didnt think wilsheres size was that much of an issue,
theres plenty of small players in football
he doesnt shy away, which is more important that his size
    i agree about bendtner
brilliant goal, hopefully now hel regain some confidence and kick on
i worry for the future tho
    hes terribly inconsistent still
vela is gna be as good as henry IMO, i dont think he and van persie had their roles sorted out properly yesterday, neither was consistently making runs beyond the defence which was a problem

  103. JonJon says:

    london,

you do have to work with the tools you have, but a workman should never blame his tools.

if wenger would of strengthed that area in the summer after letting three DMs go we wouldnt be relying on song at all.

  104. London says:

    Jon-Jon

Were you in Leeds last night?

  105. Arsenal Tom says:

lets just hope ivan has a very very very busy january

  106. JonJon says:

    yes mate i was why???

  107. kenny smith says:

Geoff agreed. Song had a couple good tackles last night and then he had some not so good ones but the tackles he did win he promtly gave the ball away straight after….. he is increadibly bad with the ball at his feet!!!!

  108. kenny smith says:

Even David pleat noticed Song was shite last night!

  109. kelsey says:

I have come to the conclusion that the best use for pinky,is as an impact player, bring him on with 30 minutes left, don’t start with him.

geoff keeps going on about song,so i focused on him last night.he was o.k. in the first half but got dramatically worse as they game went on.he is slow, doesn’t have a football brain and isn’t good enough on a consistant level to play for us.end of.

  110. kenny smith says:

Can someone just clarify to me was this new guys role in the club is???? i know his job title but what does he actually do on a day-day basis?

  111. London says:

    Jon-Jon

If you were in Leeds last night you only saw what the director of ITV4 wanted you to see. So don’t lecture me on Song’s postional play because you didn’t see it.

  112. Mandanda says:

    Maqi,
Yes the MLS pay a percentage of his wages. in fact, each team in the league is allowed to bring a big name foreign player in the close season and they contribute a fixed amount of his wages, but I can’t remember the exact figure. The sum is fixed tho, other teams have players like Juan Pablo Angel, the former norwich/man city player striker?!?! (can’t remember his name now),…but most of Beckham’s high earning come from the (club) sponsorship the rest come from the club and the contribution made from the MLS.

  113. Pedro says:

Guys, lets not get annoyed at one another over Alex Song.

We won 1-0… and next up we’ve got Chavski.

    Question:

Does Wenger stick with the same team?
Or does he go with a Cesc – Denilson midfield?
Or… does he revert back to the 4-5-1 and use Rambo instead?
    Does Adebayor return?
Who smiled when they heard Drogba met with Inter 2 nights ago?

  114. Pedro says:

Song is just clumsy and slow… I think last night, he was the only real choice against a powerful team… so there is no point in debating it. He is what we have to deal with until January.

  115. Michael P says:

London, im with you mate, I think Song is slowly improving, he had a decent game in DM I thought…..

    ………………..did i REALLY type that??

  116. spurdozer says:

    1st. I am always

  117. Good morning Goooners

‘Every group is welcome… well, you know… almost every group!’

Classic mate. Nice post and the depression seems to be lifting slowly slowly.

  118. Mandanda says:

i find the anti-Song views redundant, he is what we have. I would hate to start repeating all the stuff I’ve said again. The whole team was average last night and he was part of that team!

  119. Michael P says:

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEE-DRO-O-O!!!!!

  120. Michael P says:

does anyone else think that song tries to imitate Henry in the way he jogs back into position??

  121. kelsey says:

Pedro, that same team will get murdered.
if ade is fit he must play,if only for nuisance value,no one else has the physical strength to deal with their defence.
maybe we can do a swop with song for drogba :)

  122. JonJon says:

    Mate, im not lecturing you,

when i commented on song earlier it wasnt directed at you mate, i was offering my opinion, it wasnt meant to offend.

yes i did watch the game on tv, but iv been ill and couldnt travel,

iv been to most of the games this season and what i see of song live makes him look better on tv.

i was at the spurs game and he was only on 2 seconds and was awful, i was at the man city game and he was awful

he was awful last night too and his positioning wasnt good last night otherwise kiev wouldnt have run at our defence like they did.

hes too slow to keep up with the players if his positioning was good he wouldnt find himself in that situation where he has to keep running back.

gilberto wasnt the quickest but he could read the game and get himself in positions where he didnt have to use pace.

song cant read the game and struggles badly because of it.

  123. Gooner07 says:

Gazidis is close to Kroenke, maybe this appointment is more likely to initiate a full takeover by Stan?

  124. Geoff says:

If we play Song against the chavs we’ll get murdered, he’s shit.

  125. Arsenal Tom says:

i thought song looked very average in the 1st half and got worse and worse in the 2nd… he hasnt got the stamina or energy to play CM unless he doesnt leave our half

  126. spurdozer says:

Ivan Gazidis called me yesterday and asked me if he should join Arsenal. I said hurry up, start working before January or the best DM we would sign would be Karim Djemba Lemba from Trinidad and Tobago ;-)

  127. Colonel Mustard says:

Apart from Clichy we were piss poor…..Cesc included….

  128. Colonel Mustard says:

bentner strike class….if ronaldo did that it would be declared goal of the season…

  129. Steve says:

I’m starting to find Song mildly amusing of late. The fact that he had an almost totally empty penalty box to clear a header last night and managed to find the back of Clichy’s nut to give a corner away was comedy gold. If they had scored from it I don’t think i’d have laughed though.

  130. Pedro says:

Steve, you could say Song is the new Eboue?

I wonder what he’ll wear to the Xmas do this year!

  131. Rohan says:

    did anyone see rooney’s dive.
came straight out of Eboue’s School of Diving and Feigning Arts

  132. no.1 goon says:

song should never wear a arsenal shirt again,
he runs around like and headless chicken and has the touch of a 90 year old granny.

ive always thought he will come good, but after this seasons performannces and yesterdays game,he will never be good enough to be a first team player.

  133. Mandanda says:

I think he’ll go as himself, that’s amusing enuff :) otherwise he’ll hav to charge an entrance fee

  134. Gunner8 says:

    nice post P

Oh and thanks for sorting out the number thing

I did say Nicky has had to put up with a shit midfield and was surrounded everytime he got the ball (5 times a match) recently, now look what a difference there is when he latches on to a 40 yard pass in space near the goal… …GOALAGOLAGOLAGOALA!

OK maybe an exageration but Nik will never be a prolific striker but he will be able to launch a 40 yard sublimee pass onto an onrushing player for a great strike, he can also improvise with a clever backheal through the eye of a needle (unfortunatly to Song) and he can finish quickly.

Yes he was shite the last 3 games that he started, but so was the team, RVP was also shite… …rant over

  135. spurdozer says:

YEah COLONEL Mustard. British media is like Fergie’s servants. I agree. Fergie just said in his post match interview yesterday that Rooney dived to get a penalty and Rooney admitted that, Fergie also said that Rooney had been seeing Pires too much. What a cunt and a filthy hypocrite. Maybe Rooney is watching Fergie’s team and C Ronaldo too much.

  136. Steve says:

Rohan I saw that and that red nosed alckie old soak Ferguson took the opportunity to slag Pires off over it. Fucking unbelievale that dodgy old fucker.

Perhaps he’ll go as Coco Geoff. He could wear his normal kit.

  137. Arsenal Tom says:

‘the new eboue’ what an acolade… gone are the days when we has ‘the new henry’ whos the next song then???

  138. no.1 goon says:

in our end we couldnt help laughing at song,it was either that or jumping off the upper tier.

  139. Gooner07 says:

When Song breaks tackles, he should immediately pass the ball to someone else. When he suddenly takes it a few steps ahead or sideways, he has no clue what to do with it. A bit like Diaby, speaking of whom, couldn’t tackle..he is a disgrace for his size, and his dribbling is pointless..

I’d like to know why Ramsey isn’t tried in CM, the boy could tackle and pass. Don’t have to stick him to the wings when he isn’t anywhere near as effective in center midfield..

  140. Arsenal Tom says:

gooner… i think its cos he’s more useful out there than denilson/diaby and co.

ramsey will be an awesome CM for us in a couple of years, plus out the wings his size cant be exposed as much cos its less of a battle

  141. Steve says:

I wish we had a young Stewart Robson or Peter Nicholas.

  142. Pedro Pleeeeassseee dont compare Song to Eboue, at least Eboue has one position where he is good at, not to mention the mesmorising step overs and the one-twos he does with the Sagna, add to that the funny crying face he does when begging for a free kick and you have a true legend in the making

  143. Geoff says:

Whenever Song starts it’s like having 10 men on the pitch, and then one of the ten gives the ball to the opposition about 5 times in the game giving them the chance to score, he’s shit.

  144. Sarge says:

Fuck me Steve, that’s a blast from the past. I can’t believe we managed to swap David Price plus cash for Peter Nicholas. Vastly underrated and unfortunate to play in a rather average Arsenal team.

Imagine what we could have done with Peter Nicholas and Steve Williams together. We would have ruled the world!

  145. Steve says:

Just out of interest albania which position is it you refer to regarding Eboue??

  146. Geoff says:

Just out of interest, what position was Song supposed to be playing last night?

  147. Steve says:

I loved Peter Nicholas Sarge. We used to sit just above the Junior Gunners at Highbury and could hear the crack when he made a tackle. Stevie Williams was a fucking fruitcake too.

  148. Pedro says:

He was great there Albania… that is why Arsene purchased Sagna! ;-)

  149. Metal Gear says:

If there’s one thing Gooners need 2 know is that we are not winning anything with Wenger in charge Wenger is a genius and he is irreplaceable 2 a certain extent but he is living off reputation. How many mistakes does a world class manager make maybe 1 or 2 here and there Wenger is making mistake after mistake after mistake 2 a point where every decision he has made is being disputed among ourselves that’s how much of joke he’s becoming. For example who in there right mind sign’s midfielder’s or utility players and converts them into CB’s and expecting them 2 be just as good as established world class defenders? Wenger is the only manager in Europe who refuses 2 acknowledge that if there’s one position U do not experiment with it’s your CB’s as it’s the only position in football that’s not considered a role 2 be leaned but an art 2 be mastered as defending requires far more than slide talking, recovery tackling, and covering. It requires concentration, positioning, anticipation and crucially the ability 2 read a game these things U can not teach at age 19-20+ but more like 6-7 have U ever heard of a midfielder converted defender become world class if so name me 1.

But what’s even worse about Wenger is his decision making. His rebuilding process is bizarre he signs Hleb and Rosicky. These 2 player’s are superb footballers they are both very intelligent and excellent passers but in terms of goals there not gonna bring U 2 much Hleb has good shooting accuracy but poor shooting technique and on top of that a phobia 2 shoot, Rosicky has poor shooting accuracy but good shooting technique so in other words because of there playmaking ability and Fabregas 100’s of chances would be made 4 the forwards. That midfield of Hleb, Rosicky and Fabrgeas IMO was the best in the world even better then Barcelona’s but 4 that midfield 2 really look good U would need at least 2 efficient striker’s last season we only had Eduardo. not V.Persie a winger converted SS and Adebayor the worst finisher in AW’s reign. VP is a natural finisher but he is not a natural goal-scorer and Adebayor is not a natural finisher or a natural goal-scorer but he brings more 2 the team. His place in the team is unquestionable 2 Wenger so if so Adebayor should be the SS not the CF playing him as the last man makes no sense as almost every target man plays the SS role and also because Adebayor is wasteful so the solution was 2 get rid of this luxury item VP and sign Anelka (when he was available) and play him as the CF his pace would have stretched the opposition and of course it goes without saying Anelka is a natural, proven and experienced CF so in turn more of those sitters would have been buried I do acknowledge that no one was never 2 know about Eduardo’s injury but my point is precisely that Anelka is not only a striker who can play as the last man but he can also play the SS or lone role allowing the then clearly exhausted Adebayor a rest. But instead Wenger relied on Bendtner 4cover a player who should be out on loan learning his trade and gaining experience. Our strike force now looks like this Adebayor (playing out of position and wasteful), VP (overrated luxury player), Bendtner (not ready), Vela (the best or the second best finisher but inexperienced) and Eduardo (the best or second best finisher). The best partnership would be Vela and Eduardo but there 2 similar. The best partnership I’ve seen so far was Adebayor and Eduardo.

But of course even more piss poor decision’s were made by Wenger such as allowing Flamini 2 run out his contract how stupid can a Wenger get? He told him he needed 2 earn his contract which he already did by filling in 4 Ashley Cole during the Champions league run only 2 drop him when they got 2 the final. Which again show’s why Wenger is not only lacking backbone but also loyalty. He allowed Diarra 2 go even though he signed him in the same year because he threw his toys out the pram. Wenger’s reasoning was that Diarra said he wanted 2 play 4 France and he did not want 2 go out on loan. How pathetic I’m sure SAF would have told him fair enough but you’re only going out on loan though or you’re not going anywhere. Since when does the boss (AW) get dictated too by the employee (Diarra)…. Pathetic! But the ultimate midfield error has 2 be allowing Gilberto Silva 2 go even though knowing he has just lost 2 established DM. Some would suggest he was past his best this is where selective memory is at it’s best if U remember when Flamini got injured in the CL 2nd leg clash against Liverpool Gilberto came where he was rusty initially but after a few games he was literally at his very best protecting and shielding the back 4 so well that the goals we did concede Gilberto was not directly responsible 4 and if one was 2 choose between Gilberto, Denilson, Song and Diaby 2 protect the back 4 I’m sure Gilberto would be the front runner by miles. Not only was he the most natural leader, very experienced and respected he was proven.

But Wenger’s mistakes continue 2 go on and on the examples are giving the captaincy 2 Gallas and not stripping him the moment he lost it ‘’in that game’’ and not giving it 2 Fabregas, not replacing Sol Campbell like 4 like, trusting Senderos 4 defensive cover and failing 2 loan out him out years ago. Not signing a top class and experienced GK but instead relying on a 3rd choice GK in Almunia and 2 add insult 2 all of his comedic calamity Silvestre is not able 2 displace either Ferdinand or Vidic but yet he has already cracked the first team at Arsenal……What a disturbing thought. All of Wenger’s mistakes have nothing 2 do with lack of funds as the AKB will have U believe but instead Wenger has lost his touch yes we were 4 point’s of the trophy last season and we should have easily won it had Wenger not been so blind and careless in January. Are downfall last season was not the Eduardo injury but AW’s stupidity.

    RANT OVER.

  150. Geoff says:

Price had a good game in the 1979 cup final, he cut the ball back for the first goal. Reminiscent of the cut back for Song to miss an open goal with against City on Saturday, that would have put us 1 up, he was shit then too.

  151. charybdis1966 says:

Gooner07- I think you meant “centre” midfield.

  152. Gooner07 says:

Why do we play a CM?

To win possession and make use of it.

With Song: 50% of the times he wins the ball, and only 50% of that, he pases it well, 50% chance of losing possession immediately, and in dangerous areas..

With Denilson: 25% chances of winning the ball, but has 75% chance of passing it well, 25% of the time loses it immediately, and in dangerous areas..

Which is advantageous? I’d say Denilson…

Song is equally lazy to defend, he goes up, and jogs his way to defend! Would you guys believe that? Give me a old Gilerto silva any day!

  153. Arsenal Tom says:

wenger brought sagna cos he new it meant he could use eboue as a winger… saving the 10m he should have spent on a proper one!!!

  154. Gunner8 says:

    RB of course

  155. Geoff says:

I would sooner play with ten men.

  156. Gooner07 says:

    Metal Gear,

We have no other choice but to back him till May. Let’s see what he does. Let’s not put extra pressure on the team, and give them the support that could propel ‘em, and possibly help them overachieve, especially likes of Song, Almunia, Silvestre, and Diaby. But you make some fair points.

    Chary,

Yes. sorry my spelling is horrible.. I’ll try to improve…

  157. JonJon says:

The dude who is our ceo has just been on sky doing an interview

    im impressed

  158. Sarge says:

I know a complete nutjob , but Steve Williams was a visionary and his passing was sublime. problem was half the knobheads we had playing for us back then couldn’t read his passing. The best bit of magic I ever saw from Steve Williams was scoring direct from a corner at Everton (when they were in their prime). Downside was the poxy penalty he gave away at York City in the F.A Cup.

We could defnitely do with Peter Nicholas now (fuck Cana). I wonder if he’s interested in coming out of retirement for the rest of the season. Love to that perm in full flow again.

  159. Gunner8 says:

    Metal Gear

    Desailly

  160. Geoff says:

I wish someone would ask Wenger what he sees in Song, or give him some Song statistics, it would be interesting to see him wriggle out of that one.

  161. Geoff says:

I hated Nicholas’s haircut, but not as much as I hate Song’s.

  162. Steve says:

Metal Gear, sorry mate I fell asleep after the first 20 minutes of reading your Wenger rantings.

  163. Steve and Pedro, I was talking about the Jester’s position in the dressing room. As for right back I think he can play there and do a job but is not good as Lauren was and nowhere near as good as Sagna

  164. Steve says:

I’d love to see Ronaldo7 get up from a Peter Nicholas tackle sarge.

  165. Metal Gear says:

    Gonner07 I 100% agree with U.

  166. Gunner8 says:

Desailly was a world class midfielder with Milan and when he got old moved seemlessly into the famous backline with Maldini before becoming a Chav

  167. Dobbi says:

BTW did anyone notice that the team was playing much better at the beginning of the season, just before…. Ebue got injured… Just a thought.

  168. finestcuts says:

It’s good to wake up off a win. Fabregas is the new captain, a new chief exec from within the game, not just a corporate suit, things are looking up.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/7749742.stm

  169. Gunner8 says:

well metal gear? it’s one thing to rant but another not to answer after someone can be bothered to write a response

  170. Sarge says:

Come on Geoff, that was part of his charm. I remember Nicholas making Graeme Souness squirm once or twice and that was no mean feat back then.

  171. Geoff says:

Metal gear although a long piece, you are quite right, but for such a long piece you didn’t complain about Song enough and there was no mention of letting Beckham near our training ground and then losing the league as a direct result.

  172. Steve says:

They have also won fuck all since he has been here Dobbi.

  173. Gunner8 says:

a new corporate hospitality manager and ceo in a week, that’s like two new signings

  174. Gunner8 says:

    SONG

  175. Gunner8 says:

    IS

  176. Sarge says:

Steve, ha ha. Can you imagine what Fergie would have to say about it? Ronaldo would shit his shorts after the first one (if he managed to get up again) and ask to come off.

  177. Gunner8 says:

    SHIT

  178. Geoff says:

    SHIT?

  179. Steve says:

I suggest next time you post Metal Gear you start your comment with “Song is shit”. It helps hold Geoff’s attention.

  180. Metal Gear says:

Steve get some coffee then mate my post is not for the feint hearted lol.

  181. Dobbi says:

Steve, you can say the same for half of our team. I only said it tongue in cheek anyways. He’s not the greatest player, but i’ll be happy if he had to be fit against Chelsea. Our right flank always looks solid with him and Sagna marshalling it.

  182. Steve says:

Sarge I think we should get him and Peter Storey out of retirement for the game at Old Trafford. Yes, we’ll be down to 9 men but fuck me we’ll have a laugh. We won’t win the league anyway so we may as well have some fun.

  183. JonJon says:

    Geoff,

do you think that this new ceo will use his marketing qualities to bring beckham here next season.

then we can have too songs!!!!

    but one will make money.

  184. avenell says:

Have we got any players coming back for Sunday?
    Does any one know??

    Morning by the way….

  185. London says:

    Lol

  186. finestcuts says:

You guys haven’t seen Alex Song’s you tube vid yet:

  187. JonJon says:

    morning avenall.

    enjoyed le grove after midnightxxxx

we may have sagna nasri and ade back but they are 50-50

  188. JonJon says:

    london,

    glad your back mate,

im sorry if i offended you before

  189. Sarge says:

Steve, blinding idea. We might have nine men left but the Mancs would have a lot fewer. Do we know which of Her Majesty’s establishments Peter is staying in at the moment?

We’ll have Stevie Williams and Willie Young on the bench as a bit of back up just in case it goes off again.

All back to Peter’s gaff for a porn party afterwards

  190. Metal Gear says:

Gooner8 WTFGeoff your hatred 4 Song is unrivaled I mean I don’t like him either but your hatred is equivalent 2 my love of Damien Comolli. I’m seriously concerned about U this was a post directed 2 Wenger Song is on the pitch because of Wenger.?

  191. avenell says:

Don’t let Tony Adams or Alan Sunderland run the taxi service after the party though!!

    Alright.. jonjon..

  192. Gooner07 says:

Btw, that purple nosed cunt had the gall to say Rooney is diving because he has been watching too much of Pires.

For a side that has Cuntaldo, fat shrek, Nanny, etc – it takes some beating to do. Guess what, the press and the media will shoo once again. After all, they have Arsenal to tear apart.. Wenger is targeted because he is french, and also because he is bit of an adamant cunt, accepted. But Fergie could get away with murder. Because the sir and his team wouldn’t give interview to sky or bbc if they targeted them..

  193. Sarge says:

Avenell, oh how we yearn for those days when men had women’s hair styles but were as hard as nails

  194. Metal Gear says:

    Gonner8 I did answer.

  195. lol finest, I cant believe there is someone out there who thinks doing that for Song is even worth it

  196. London says:

    Jon-Jon

That is a nice thing to say, you didn’t offend me. I apologise for being a bit snappy.

I have to dodge the bully in the playground who owns the ball or he wont let me play anymore.

  197. Arsenal Tom says:

finest thats quality… i think geoff made this one…

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i3kUeNu1v3g&feature=related

  198. Michael P says:

Apparently, Man City will be going after Toure in January….hmmm…swao for Micah Richards???

And AC in for Gallas inJan…..hmmmmm….swap for Kaka…and we’ll give him the No.10 shirt too!!! In fact, we’ll throw in Song and they can give us Paco aswell!!!

Buy Cana and Van Buyten and we’re sorted!! OH YEAH!!!!

  199. Steve says:

Or Rafael Meade look after the wives avenell.

  200. Geoff says:

Finest that was great, JonJon if he brought Beckham over I would rip my season’s up, Metal I don’t hate Song, honestly, I just think he’s shit.

Not even just shit, I think he is the worst professional footballer I haver ever, ever, ever seen, he’s shit.

  201. Michael P says:

    Toure Quote:

“I am injured and need to get back to fitness,”

“I have nothing to say about the transfer link, time will tell.”

  202. Sarge says:

And don’t put Andy Cole or David Hillier in charge of the coats and bags

  203. Geoff says:

Why would City be after Kolo? he’s not that good anymore, I love him to bits but he’s lost it for me, they can have Song though, but who the fuck would want Song? he’s shit.

  204. Michael P says:

More money than sense??? charge them £25 mill for Kolo!!

  205. Geoff says:

    Tom that’s even better! Brilliant!

  206. Michael P says:

Or maybe Richards has decided he wants to play for the team he SUPPORTS.
    Now there is a novelty.

  207. JonJon says:

if money bags city offered 10mil for kolo id take it,

i love kolo to bits too but sentiment means nothing in football nowadays, especially when the players gone so much downhill so quickly.

  208. Gooner07 says:

Kolo has been horrible for us for past 2 seasons to be honest. He gave away 5 penalties last season, that’s incidentally more than Gallas, Senderos, and Song combined. To think that he had the least number of games of all CBs in the squad and yet play like a neurotic person, tells the story…

  209. Arsenal Tom says:

geoff dont u rate song or somthing?

i think with the right player kolo can get it back… it’d be great to see him back to how he was and i dont think we can afford to loose any more experience and knowledge of the arsenal

  210. Michael P says:

MAybe we could disguise Song to look like Kolo…and flog him to Citeh?
    Geoff???

  211. Steve says:

Geoff, if you had to sum Song up in 1 word, what would it be?

  212. JonJon says:

we should offer a swap deal, kolo plus cash and test citys and richards resolve to see whether he wants to stay at city or play for his boyhood team????

  213. London says:

You are on form this morning Steve. Lol

  214. Michael P says:

Geoff, if you had to sum up song in two words, what would they be?

  215. JonJon says:

or we could offer kolo and song and eboue???

    3 birds 1 stone!!!!!

  216. Metal Gear says:

Kolo has always been a liability during the unbeaten season we conceded bucket loads it was just that we scored more than we conceded.

Kolo is rubbish and always has been.

  217. Geoff says:

    Fuckinguseless (Steve) fuckinguselesscunt (Michael)

  218. Michael P says:

    metal gear…bbk in another guise?lmao!

  219. Michael P says:

    you meant Song right Geoff?haha!
    no swearing on legrove!!

  220. Michael P says:

Steve…you gonna let Geoff talk to you like that???

  221. Geoff says:

Sorry Michael you said two words fuckinguseless cunt.

    Yes I did mean Song!!!

  222. Rhyle says:

I’d be gutted to see Kolo go. Agree that in the last couple of years he’s not been at his best to say the least but feel he’s a player that needs a leader beside him, and he hasn’t had that since Sol in his Invincibles pomp. Give Kolo a decent CB partner – someone who’s able to show him what to do efficiently – and I’m sure his performances will improve.

Incidentally – I met Kolo. When I was working for DWS Investments, we sponsored Villa. We had a box at Highbury for the last game against Villa (we won 3-1…remember the good old days of us beating Villa?!) and I was hanging behind as we were just by the car park. Kolo wonders along and I grab a quick snap with him. He asks if I would like his autograph and I have to say no…I don’t have a pen. Kolo says ‘Ok…I’ll go get you one’ and tries to run back to the dressing room to fetch me one! How nice is that? Bit mental but nice all the same…

  223. goonermichael says:

I thought everything changed whe jack came on. Denilson was shit and lazy.

  224. Geoff says:

Steve you know I meant Song!

  225. Geoff says:

Rhyle, don’t believe it mate, with their money they could buy anyone, why Kolo???

  226. Michael P says:

Im hoping Richards is pining for a move for CL football…to his favourite club!!

  227. Gooner07 says:

Kolo is a neurotic defender, don’t know what he is going to do. He relies on athleticism to make up for his positional defects. Sometimes he is just too horrible in his contact in the box, he is too sluggish. Take his penalty against Boro away or that Liverpool away CL against Babel, he is too sluggish. And when you put your two hands up after doing such mad jump across a running forward, refs will give penalties. Even if you get the ball sometimes, like Clichy did at Brum, when you puts your hands up, refs would think it’s a fault and not innocence. I hope our players learn this..

  228. gooner says:

I met Kolo too – It was on Oxford Street near Bond St tube station – Ive got the photo on my camera phone; nice man, and was taking wads of money out of the cash machine. Very good with his public, no airs and graces.

  229. Colonel Mustard says:

“Kolo says ‘Ok…I’ll go get you one’ and tries to run back to the dressing room to fetch me one! How nice is that? Bit mental but nice all the same…” seriously!?? ha ha

  230. jander says:

Freddy Adu in January anyone? Another whizz-kid….

  231. Gooner07 says:

Denilson had good ball control, sometimes good passing, but he could be pointless. Ramsey is direct, but not always consistent in his passing and ball control, but he is sharp, and keen to break through. Both should play at CM.

Wilshere is pure talent, and could dribble past players, and knows to play in that position. I hope he plays more. Easily the best option in the wings at the moment. Playing CM in the wings is pointless IMO.

I hope we see RVP in the right, and Ade as CF (I hope he gets fit), Nasri in left, and play Cesc-Denilson-Ramsey behind them.. in 4-3-3

  232. Sarge says:

Michael we’ve got more chance of signing Keith Richards

  233. kelsey says:

Taking about blasts from the past.

who remembers peter marinello, the new george best, finished up doing adverts for milk

  234. Arsenal Tom says:

man city have stupid money… cant see them spending 8mil on kolo who isnt in our team!!!… hardly a signal of intent is it? they’ll be going for robinho class players not fringe players… whos next john o shea and paulo ferreira?

  235. ArsenalKenya says:

Jack should be given more playtime in the Chelsea game so that when he dribbles in the penalty area and Obi Mikel feels like kicking him we get a straight penalty and we win the game 1-0.

Ivan is a good man and let’s hope for the best. SONG should justplay in Carling Cup games and the reserves. We need Coequlin and Bischoff to step up soon. Eduardo will be back soon and so let’s be just POSTIVE……………..

  236. Sarge says:

Kelsey, I was a wee nipper back then but I do remember my dad and Grandad talking about him.

Scored on his debut against the Mancs at Old Trafford went round half their team apparently. My dad’s abiding memory of him though was the open goal he missed against Ajax at home in the QF of the European Cup. The old man reckons that cost us the tie

  237. Gooner07 says:

No way. Inter, Juve or Milan will snap him. no way we would sign him. Even Liverpool, Chelsea and Man utd have more chances of signing him. His talks have broken because of wage demands. And we know our wage structure…Purely speculative..

  238. Metal Gear says:

Choy how are we gonna get him with the wages we pay? And do we need him anyway?

  239. Arsenal Tom says:

so barca wont pay him silly money but WE will… the daily mail gets worse every day!!!

  240. Geoff says:

Wasn’t Freddie Adu signed by our new Chief Executive when he was in America?

  241. freduardo says:

hard to see us offering better wages than barca
good player though, is he what we’re looking for?
    cant see it happenin anyway

  242. Arsenal Tom says:

everyone needs a player like xavi but it’ll never happen… we’d have to pay the best part of 20-30m to sign him in the 1st place!

  243. Geoff says:

Gooner sorry mate for some reason you were in moderation, you’re out now! I’m off now Grovers, good blogging.

  244. Gooner07 says:

LOL. Roman wants to build a 60k seater stadium. I suppose like the money, the crowd should be shipped from Russia..

  245. freduardo says:

what about this Cana I hear mention of on this site
he’s albanian or something isn’t he? what’s he like?

  246. bergkamp says:

hahahahha chelsea are blaming us coz they cant sell out for the weekend,an they wanna build an emirates

  247. Stu says:

Greetings elders, was this post inspired by Earl Hickey by any chance?

Cana is a legend! That was some boring game last night, i nearly fell asleep!

  248. Doublegooner says:

    Kelsey:

Mr Peter Marinello ! We’re now showing how long & beyond we’ve been watching The Arse :)

Completely flattered to deceive after his debut.

  249. Gooner07 says:

    Watch Cana tonight against Scousecunts…

  250. Metal Gear says:

Chelsea can’t fill up the Emirates that just reconfirms how small they are they think there bigger because we cant compete with them but the chavs fail 2 realize no one is able 2 compete with Roman F.C.

  251. kelsey says:

DG i am well overdue a gold watch,50 years since i first went as a nipper.

  252. freduardo says:

    cheers gooner 07, will do

  253. Arsenal Tom says:

fredauardo… he’s a maniac central midfielder… check him out on youtube to begin with… just what we need

  254. goonerjay says:

    Hi Guys,

I thought we were a bit poor for large spells last night but we got the result which was the main thing.

Bendtner scored the goal well but i still think he is useless… his positioning is diabolical and decision making at times is worse.
I think Vela played really well last night… in fact i thought he was a much bigger threat than RVP but i would really like to see Vela played on the right wing… i think he would make a very good winger and we all know he has an eye for goal and we have missed not having goal scoring wingers in recent years (what we wouldn’t give to have an in form Bobby Pires in our team again)

On a seperate note… from my desk i can see right into the class room of Canterbury Christ Church NURSING College…. i love my desk

  255. bergkamp says:

we should have bought that argie that liverpool got,he would have been ideal

  256. bergkamp says:

are any of the nurses wearing pink boots?

  257. Michael P says:

Apparently, Kinnear was looking to take Song and Djourou on loan to Newcastle.
Obviously Wenger said no about Djourou….but he also said NO about Song.

    Geoff!!! What say you???!!!

  258. Doublegooner says:

    Kelsey:

You’re a little ahead of me, my first game was around 66, although unlike most I really cant recall it. Been a regular since 1969 til current day.

My old man used to take me to quite a few away games starting early 70′s.

    Gets us reminiscencing :)

  259. goonerjay says:

no Bergkamp… little white dresses… I can’t wait for the summer

  260. kelsey says:

My point which i think was raised before is that since sky was launched, there are a number of new age fans who latch onto the fashionable tams.anyone onder 25 has an expectancy that we always win something or at the least come near to winning.it wasn’t like that in the 60′s part of the 70′s and 80′s so perhaps our reasoning is slightly different.that has nothing o do with not supporting the club.i followed arsenal in my young days when spurs had the double team and waited 14 years until we won something.

What annoys me now is that we have too many substandard players and too many with ego problems yet we should and could have won the league last year.

money or lack of it is the only reason combined with wenger being over frugal,as if it was his money.

  261. bergkamp says:

goonerjay, summer?? where?? are you leaving the country?

  262. Gooner07 says:

Yeah, Bendter scored the goal. I’d say he is still under construction. I’d say he is better than Aliadere, but not yet on level of Kanu, which is not saying much. But I’d give him time, I hope people don’t slate or boo the guy mercilessly as they often do. Give the lad a chance to gain confidence. He put us through to KO phase with that goal, so let’s be grateful for couple of days. LOL

And it’s not well documented that Bendtner scores when he comes off the bench – Villa, Spurs (both last season) and now this..

  263. Doublegooner says:

    Kelsey:

We sing from the same sheet. Here here.

  264. Michael P says:

KINNEAR “I was looking at the situation regarding both Alexandre Song and Johan Djourou at The Emirates.

“However, I notice both played for Arsenal when they beat Dynamo Kiev last night, so I know I was wasting my time thinking about these two on loan.

“I can understand Arsene Wenger not wanting to let Denilson go either.

  265. London says:

    Arsenal Tom

The main point that Geoff was making is why would Man City want to buy Kolo when they can afford anyone. The answer is simple: he is available where as others aren’t. Kolo is the next step up for them and it wouldn’t suprise me one little bit if he left in January.

  266. goonerjay says:

No bergkamp…. i meant the little white dresses will get smaller…. happy days

  267. Arsenal Tom says:

michael i thought it was denilson he wanted? i read somewhere he said ‘one of the players has already scored against us’

  268. bergkamp says:

they can have kolo if they give us ireland or richards or swp

  269. bergkamp says:

hahaha goonerjay, summer would be great as long as it dont rain again

  270. Doublegooner says:

Right Guys, we need a Posse at midnight.

Lets all meet up & capture Song & Deniulson & have them delivered to St.James Park for friday. Kinnear’s fucking welcome to them.

The thought of Song being involved on sunday shits the life out of me !

  271. avenell says:

We could have Kompany, they could have Toure… But if we pay extra they have to take Song….

  272. Arsenal Tom says:

london… i dont see how kolo is the next step up for them… he cant get in our team and hasn’t been in form since the ACN.

  273. Stu says:

How about Saviola, I know we have enough forwards but this fella guarentees goals and is way more clinical that any1 we have (bar Eduardo maybe).

  274. bergkamp says:

they can have rvp kolo and denilson and song and diaby if they give us robinho

  275. freduardo says:

crikey was looking at clips of Cana on youtube.
bit of a nutter, would definitely give us something new.
like to see thugs like kevin davies mess with that kind of CM!
blimey, Lpool tonight you say? hohoho

  276. bergkamp says:

i havent seen saviola guarantee anyone goals for a few years

  277. bergkamp says:

cana is a hype, kevin davies would chew his ass up,he would do an eboue

  278. bergkamp says:

we should buy kevin nolan tell him patrol the midfield if all we want is a tug, might as well get the real deal

  279. Gooner07 says:

I’d take Kompany eyes closed. Heck, I’d take Scott parker or Steve Sidwell over Song. Fuck, even Appiah would do…

  280. bergkamp says:

    thug lol

  281. Gooner07 says:

Cana has been tremendous for Ligue 1. Whenever he had played in CL, he has been okay, but nowhere near the level he shows in Ligue 1. On his best day, he has dominated Toulalan-Juninho all by himself, but has never shown it in the CL. Besides, Gerets team suffer from lack of bite in finishing their chances in CL. No fault of Cana, but Niang, and likes. Although yeah..Cana didn’t really stop Gerrard score two wonder goals, did he?

  282. Arsenal Tom says:

id take fucking lee carsley over song!! we need a mascherano

  283. Michael P says:

Out – Song, Song, Song and Song

In – Richards, Can, Van Buyten, Xavi, Huntelaar —Beautiful!!! Think of the “Strength in Depth!” Goddam!!!

  284. bergkamp says:

steven gerrard will leave stud marks up cana’s forhead, watch tonight, cana is just a top level robbie savage/vinnie jones, aint nothing hard about him

  285. Michael P says:

ATom, i have seen him play over the last 2 seasons, Cana is definately the nearest we will get to Mascherano

  286. bergkamp says:

id take a fuckin tom huddlestone over song,an i was a song fan till le grovers twisted my arm

  287. Michael P says:

bergkamp….i take it from your comment you havent seen Cana play for any length of time?
Robbie Savage/Vinnie Jones – Top level? No way those words can be in the same sentence!! Yellow card please ref!

  288. Michael P says:

    Huddlestone??? Bergkamp, second yellow…OFF!!!!!!

  289. bergkamp says:

see we have employed a gizzard to replace edelman,ok maybe huddlestone was a step to far,but at least he breaks stride

  290. Arsenal Tom says:

michael… then again i will go with you old son!!

i havent seen much of him, but am gonna try and watch him tonight, i like his aggression and bite though from what ive seen

  291. bergkamp says:

iv seen cana play,he has always looked pretty good goin forward but iv seen his team get the shyt beat out of them every single time

  292. bergkamp says:

whenever a player is 26-27 an playing in france still he cant be top quality,an thats that

  293. Arsenal Tom says:

bergkamp… drogba was, and look what he’s done to us!!

  294. bergkamp says:

drogba only really came to light in the few years before chelsea, and he was valued at 28 mill,if cana was so hot he would be valued as high as mascherano or carrick or veloso or hargreaves,an if he is so hot an so much cheaper why did liverpool not buy him instead of the argie?

  295. bergkamp says:

cana is famous off of one youtube clip, thats why no ones heard of him till they see that clip of 5 years action, giles grimandi could have had that clip made from one north london derby

  296. JonJon says:

    hi bergkamp hows it going

  297. bergkamp says:

the commentary dont speak highly of him,an iv seen marseille play plenty of times in the champions league an even on setanta

  298. Arsenal Tom says:

bergkamp.. i dont think he’s cheap he’s rated at about 10-15m from what people and the web say… plus rafa likes he spanish speakers almost as much as wenger does his french

  299. bergkamp says:

Mr JonJon easy pal, just debatin the great Cana, the youtube man

  300. bergkamp says:

14-15 mill an half the wages of the argie,ok how comes we all knew about essien & the guy who went to madrid, but youtube is Cana’s hall of fame only?

  301. JonJon says:

canas a beast, no real talent but a good hard defensive midfielder, i wouldnt say no if the price was right

  302. Gunner8 says:

    Geoff 11:30ish

    Song is Shit

    Metal Gear also 11:30ish

you asked us to name one midfielder who made a transition to world class defender and I named Desailly, so WTF back to you

  303. bergkamp says:

if arsenal want a player who looks like that clip then i can go join them an do that for free

  304. bergkamp says:

lol gunner8,ok thats one, name another, and dont say stefan effenberg,we will all have nightmares

  305. Fab4 says:

How old was Bobby Pires when we signed him from Marseille?

  306. bergkamp says:

i always knew wenger was suspect when steffan effenberg could have joined us but his 20k a week wage demands were too high

  307. bergkamp says:

pires was about 26 but had had 2 years out with injury

  308. JonJon says:

way too old for wenger now

  309. Fab4 says:

If we are looking for a decent defensive midfielder we should go for that bloke at Milan. He doesn’t always get a game for them. Italian sounding name (I know that narrows it down!). Flam something.

  310. bergkamp says:

in all my years goin to football i have never seen a better performance against us that steffan effenbergs over 2 legs, the man fucking bitched vieira an scored a strikers goal and played at center back

  311. Fab4 says:

bergkamp – Essien’s performance against us at the Grove when we drew 1-1 with the Chavs was pretty impressive.

  312. Mandanda says:

Richards is overrated overrated overrated the guy cannot defend, why buy Richards when we have JD and Senderos??
van Buyten is shit that’s why bayern want to get rid of him…

I’ve watched quite a few Udinese matches on the telly and I’m yet to see this Zapata guy people keep shouting of, if he is not a first team player then why the fuss?!

anyway I’m off have a good day grovers!!

  313. bergkamp says:

fab4,that was impressive, but we had a quality team an borrussia munchen gladback were shyt, this guy dominated us an scored goals against us and ran the midfield, and he was playing centre back,he turned up one on one with dave seaman, unbelievable shyt,he was better than essien

  314. alex says:

I was nervous because of Gallas’ old antics with the whole ”
ill score an own goal situation”

however, he had one of the best offside goals i’ve seen and besides one slip up where Kiev’s player hit the post, he rightly looked like he was on the same page as everyone. As far as Nikki B goes, hopefully this is a sign that he is ready to make up for all the chances he was wasted, because when Ade is back, he won’t get a game to save his life after his last performances.

  315. bergkamp says:

alex i think nikki B has been better than rvp,so who says its nik who will dissapear if ade gets the nod?

  316. JonJon says:

    velosos a good DM,

where cana is more aggressive veloso is more stylish, with good technique

wouldnt be suprised if wenger goes for him

iv never seen zapata play so i dont know what all the fuss is about either

  317. bergkamp says:

im off fellas, have a good afternoon,an no slaggin off old pink boots today

  318. JonJon says:

now nikkis got them dazzling pink kinky boots he’ll be more dangerous

but adebayor cant play with bendtner

  319. alex says:

Bergkamp–I think your off but anyway,

Ade and Nikki B don’t work; whether we want it to or not.

and even thoughWenger is starting to listen to the fans a bit and change things up, he is far from benching Ade. don’t get me wrong at times i wish he was, but as far as Wenger knows, the person who scored 30 goals last season is hiding somewhere, and one day he will snap back to that form.

    hopefully…

  320. raif says:

    HELLO GROVERS.

    how we all doing?

  321. stu says:

    Very slow day today.

  322. stu says:

Never heard of him. IS he good enough? His relationship needs to be good with Wenger if he is to help us.

  323. raif says:

    Extremely slow Stu

  324. stu says:

Im off home seeing as there is nobody really here. I’ll be back (when the hoards return).

  325. Mark C says:

the 3 players that COULD be back, would really add something to the team.

We struggled last night up front, Ade could sort that.

Down the right, Sagna will sort that

In the middle, Nasri coming in, would mean Song out of the middle and Denilson in.

  326. ethangunner says:

just watched top 50 C.L goals of all time …

a great watch heres the link for anyone who has a torrent client !

    but a wins a win !

lets hope we can get some points in the EPL now !

  327. Arsenal Tom says:

ok, so which one of you lot farted?

  328. Michael P says:

can you hear the echo in here??

  329. David (Bentner is high quality Shite) says:

    lol…i did Tom…

  330. ethangunner says:

    pedro

download the above link ! definately an entertaining 40 minutes ..
    TH14 features 3 times in the top 50 !

and DB10 plays a wicked cameo in the freddie goal !
    those were the days …

  331. Michael P says:

    it was I!!!

  332. David says:

    Jon Jon

    You still on here?

  333. Michael P says:

    ethan…..provide us with the link!!

    We have a DVD atlast!!!

  334. patthegooner says:

Even David Pleat noticed that Song was Shit in the Commentary and given his knowledge of the game, that is saying something. The bloke is a clueless idiot…..

Did anyone else notice his comment just before half time about Arsene usually making changes at half time if things are not going well…………Really Pleat, I think you have 45 mins mixed up with 70 Mins.

Given the circumstances and who we had available I was quite happy with the performance last night, and I hate to kick a man when he is down, but the young lads in Wilshire and Ramsey showed how out of Depth Song is. He is the last kid picked at school…..

  335. raif says:

    ethangunner

nice one ill give that a download indeed

  336. David says:

Wasnt there an Article on Fran Merida Playing out Left wing for our Champions league game?

  337. raif says:

    David

yeah it was some dodgy websites/blogs that was probably predicting he would play

  338. TheDudeAbides says:

anyone else notice the irony of Dien being kicked out because he wanted to bring Kroenke in, and the man who has now replaced Dien is no doubt an associate of and has been recomended by Kroenke himself

  339. Michael P says:

    ethan….link me up brother!!!

  340. Stu says:

Yes Dude, that was noticed, as well as the fact that Dein was outed because of Kroenke and now Stan is on the board and Dein is nowhere to be seen.

  341. Arsenal Tom says:

its all shaping up for a kronke takeover!!

i watched the free clip of the guy on arsenal tv and he seems switched on! used to live near highbury!!!

  342. A says:

Wasn’t Dein ousted more for going behind the boards back than by the people he was associating with?

  343. Stu says:

Just hope he isnt like the other Yanks in charge of Pool and Utd. They are both in hundreds of millions in debt. Stan looks like an astute business man tho. Lets hope he doesnt ruin us.

  344. ethangunner says:

    micheal

the link was there … my post at .2.22

  345. Stu says:

Whatever the reason for his departure was, he still shouldn’t have left. Things have been going downhill at the grove since DD left. Both in terms of transfers and performances(baring last seasons apparent fluke)

  346. maqitlarge says:

Stu – the board are very particular who they let into their little circle. I think with Stan we’re in safe hands. I trust his judgement. So I trust Ivan. Just hope he can do the business with transfers and not concentrating on selling Arsenal Xmas cards!!!!!!!!!

  347. ethangunner says:

yeah been on a bit of a downer the last few weeks !
maybe im just starved of quality football ..
if you lads are interested heres 2 more …

    Th14 226 goals ..

and if you really want to depress yourself :)
then theres arsenals 49 unbeaten record too !

    FUCK…

  348. A says:

I wouldn’t say things have gone downhill, or that last season was a fluke, but no point in getting into that now. I agree completely he shouldn’t have gone, he was fantastic for the club, and it has certainly put a big strain on our resources. If only they’d just given him a telling off and let him stay. I guess if the board felt that he’d betrayed their trust and they wouldn’t be able to trust him anymore then he had to go but still, he was a massive massive loss. I really expected him to come back with whoever took over eventually, but I guess that’s unlikely to happen with it looking like Kroenke has had his man installed. Unless there’s space for both of them?! I doubt it though

  349. ethangunner says:

    A tom !

    agree 100% !
the yank coming in From the MLS fed . is the tell tail sign isnt it !

  350. ReVELAtion says:

**** Cana as someone said he’d be out of France by now if he was that good.. Plus that Youtube clipis like 5 years of playing and it isn’t that remarkable… It was the summer or never for him.. Now he’lll end up somewhere like Newcastle…

Only choices arsenal have for Cesc are:

    De Rossi (Roma)
    Camancho (Atl. Madrid)
    Inler (Udinese)

erm…. No one else is really worth it… If we are going to buy players they as well be worthy additions, not just slightly better then what we have… What’s the point in that?

Song again was shite last night… He looks o.k in the CC as centre back when he doesn’t have to pass the ball, but other then that I find myself shouting at the screen/pitch on many occassions when he plays… How Wenger can keep playing him in midfield and even right back with his dire passing ability is beyond me…

Denilson we all know is not the answer, but he’s improving slowly with the responibility and warrants a place in the squad… Wenger says though at 19 you should be making a claim for a first team berth.. I’ve got to say now in modern football you’re looking at 21-23 to get any kind of consistency… Well Denilson looks like a rabbit caught in headlights when a 6ft 3 monster runs at him, doesn’t bode well…

Bendtner scored but even though i’m a stauch supporter, those boots and recent performances have soured my opinion of him a little bit… Ribery also wears the pink boots…. Mugs!

I’ll go with Pires, Keown & Bergkamp for the lost 3….

    Dream summer buys… (Realistic 1′s)

    Landreau (PSG) GK
    Zapata (Udinese) CB
De Rossi (Roma) DM or Inler (Udinese) DM
    Ashley Young (Villa) WG

  351. Michael P says:

D’oh – thank you sir ethan!

  352. David says:

I like De Rossi….Think he fits well in our system and he has a screamer of a shot

  353. A says:

reva the boots have nothing to do with bendtner choosing them. They’re Nike’s new big thing, and Nike will have most of their high profile players wearing them soon, nik is just one of the first. There was an article about a month ago about them bringing them in. Arshavin wears them too, Ronaldo I heard will be before long, you can’t blame nik for it!

I’ve not seen that much of Inler but I don’t think he’s a top top player, hopefully by the summer we will have identified a fantastic DM. De Rossi would be incredible, but would cost over 20 mill, if he’d even be available, I dunno whether we’d want to pay that.
Agree with zapata, though there were rumours today about Fazio from Sevilla, he’d fit the bill in terms of his size I guess. We won’t sign anyone like Landreau because Fabianski will be first choice by the end of the season and better than him! We wouldn’t sign young either because he’s a nob and not an arsenal type player, we’ve already got theo for the direct type winger, rosicky will be back, nasri settled in, and wilshere coming through! De Rossi really would be amazing for us, if only! I still think yaya could be a possibility, though I doubt until the summer

  354. Stu says:

Great choices ReVELA. I have been suggesting Landreau with no responce for a while but i dont know alot about Zapata but i would like him too. ANy1 playing in Italy can be that bad at defending. Not sure about De Rossi though, especially in England. Ashley Young needs to join us. Doubt O’Neill would let him go for less than 20m.

Another suggestion may be Denisov or Tymoshuck(spelling?) of Zenit. Really like their football too. There are alot of good hard working players out there. But availability and price are the factors that will sstop Wenger buying anyone. Oh and Albiol from Valencia too.

  355. Arsenal Tom says:

ethan… i just watched the hill-wood thing on arsenaltv and he said that ivan knows kronke but kronke had nothing to do with it… bit suspect tho!

the doughnut also said tho that when they first started looking they didnt think it was very important that the person they got had any football knowledge and only realised it after they interviewed people!!

  356. Arsenal Tom says:

de rossi is the one id like to see… he looks top class every time ive seen him

  357. David says:

To be Honest if we really want a DM thats Outstanding cover for the defense…

I really think we should get Mahamadou Diarra…doubt Real will let him go tho…i have seen this man play and he just dominates the midfield defensively

  358. Arsenal Tom says:

A… fazio just signed a contract extension, must have been agent stiring shit

    3 in a row?

  359. Stu says:

A Tom, i assume then that you didnt see him miss the penalty against Utd in the CL last season? I dont watch Italian football so i rarely see Danielle so I wouldn’t know but I seriously doubt Wenger would take such an expensice risk.

  360. Arsenal Tom says:

    stu… didnt remember that!!!

i dont think he would either to be honest, but if we wanna try and guess wengers next buys we better go looking around at who’s playing the u17 world cup or at his best mates african academy!!!

on the pink boots thing… someone like ribery who’s world class can get away with pink boots.. a 19 yr old who hadnt scored for 10 games cant really pull it off

  361. A says:

Ah ok Tom, didn’t know that, it’d in the BBC rumours today, from the mirror apparently so imagine a load of bollocks. De Rossi is one of the best midfielders in the world, incredible for Italy too, I really don’t think Roma would let him go though and if they would he’d cost a hell of a lot and all the top teams would be in for him as well. Are people not wanting Yaya anymore?

  362. A says:

Tom it isn’t bendtner’s choice though. Bendtner is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Europe so he’s on a big sponsorship contract with Nike and therefore they stick their newest design on him along with other top sponsored players.

  363. Stu says:

True, its easier to predict where lightening will strike than it is to predict Wengers next buy.

Just watching Bundesliga highlights, Ribery is on amazing form. He could probably wear pink fluffy boots with lipstick on and nobody would care (well not that much) as long as he does his stuff on the pitch.

  364. A says:

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/11/26/arsenal-line-up-move-for-sevilla-defender-federico-fazio-115875-20925479/

there we go, says we’re going to recall senderos at the end of the season too, not that you can trust what’s reported in the mirror

  365. avenell says:

Here is a clip from “Le Grove after Midnight XXX” featuring pink boots (Ribery).

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lWvQjSmhhso&translated=1

  366. Stu says:

I dont really think Yaya is a proper DM. He is more of an all action midfielder. He is great with the ball, big, strong, reasonably quick and cant half whack a ball but a DM he is not. He is just deep-lying.

De Rossi seems like an impossibility, how about Aquilani. Just as highly rated, on great form(the last I heard) and can play anywhere in midfield or fill in at the back. I would prefer him to De Rossi and might also be the cheaper option. We were also linked with him in the summer but that never materialised, like so many others.

  367. Arsenal Tom says:

bentder can wear high hills as long as scores to be fair but i can see why he got a load of stick for it.

the fazio stuff was obviously agent bullshit… like the aqulani talk there was during the summer.

hopefully ivan’s been told who our jan transfers will be already so he can get to work

  368. Doublegooner says:

ALEXANDRE SONG , sums up everything that is wrong with the game.

21, totally shit yet earns enough to have all the ‘toys’ in life.

How many people in any other industry who are not even regarded as top of their profession & been around 5 minutes, can buy a house over £1m – & WITHOUT SEEING IT FIRST !

  369. Paulinho says:

Well, if we do sell out to Kroenke at least it will have been a slow process and they will get a chance to see what the club is about etc. Similar to Vieira taking the captaincy off Adams after years of watching and learning from him.

Yoan Gourcuff would be a good signing. It’s a pity we didn’t get in earlier and try and get the loan deal ourselves.

  370. kenny smith says:

    A i still want yaya

avenell that has to be the worst video i have ever seen lol!

  371. kelsey says:

i mentioned 2 weeks ago that a takeover was sooner than later.there is no coincidence with this latest move by appointing a c.o. ho is connected to kroenke.

mock me if you will, but times the are a changing.

  372. Arsenal Tom says:

im not sure about yaya, we’d loose him every few years for the ACN and he’s moved around so much it makes me think there’s something wrong with him… he wasn’t playing for barca last time i looked???

  373. Stu says:

Yaya started for Barca at the weekend, that might only have been because of injuries tho.

If arsenal were a top club that actually showed ambition to win trophies and were not overly concerned about profits then I would have us buy these players in the summer:

    Nueue (Schalke 04)
    Landreau (PSG)
    Chiellini (Juve)
    Albiol (valencia, why not)
    Kompany (citeh)
    Young? (Villa)
    Alonso (Pool)
    Aquilani (roma)
    Villa (valencia)
Saviola (Real, whatever happened to him)

We obviously cant buy them all but they would definately go along way to making us a real force again. They are just off the top of my head and there are a lot more out there but thats all for now.

  374. kelsey says:

    A

I like many others never rated senderos, but why was he allowed to leave on loan at this time, when we are woefully short of defenders.compared to song,he walks on water.

  375. kelsey says:

Another thing that shows how woefully short of class players was that jack had to come on at age 16.i am not knocking jack as i think he is the most exciting talent to come our way,but this game was vital to win and we had no other alternatives.back to size of squad again.

  376. JonJon says:

    lol

i dont think we’ll recall senderos, he couldnt do the job before, what makes people think he’ll do it now.

    the tabloids must be bored

  377. Franchise says:

Stu there are a few CBs we could sign from the premiership that would improve ua at the back. the thing that worries me bout players from other leagues they take a few months to adjust to the pace of the prem. The Jan transfers we need need to hit the ground running. So cliche

  378. Stu says:

Despite his mistakes, i always liked Senderos. I feel that Gallas coming to the grove has ruined Senderos’ career at the arsenal and hopefully once Gallas leaves then Phil will get the games he deserves. Phil is arguably the best natural defender on the books.

  379. JonJon says:

weve never really had a big squad though,

the year we went unbeaten practically the same players played every week, we hardly had any injuries,

now we have an injury list longer than Metal Gears post earlier and the squad is suffering

  380. JonJon says:

phil had good ariel ability and was a good defender but he lacked pace and composure and concentration, powerful speedy forwards like drogba used to give him nightmares

  381. SONG IS SHIT says:

    Just for you Geoff……….

  382. Franchise says:

Toure is the one for me that killed Senders’ career. Most of the times Senderos has been on form it has been when he partnered Gallas as a result of Toure’s Intl absence or Injury. Toure is back and he walks straight into the defence and Senderos is out.

  383. Stu says:

Its not so much the injures that fuck us up, its more the injuries to our key players. Why is it that out shit players like Song, Denilson, and Eboue never get injured? Whereas our important players get injured and are out fot weeks -months at a time.

  384. Goonerman says:

Phil was excellent against all but the other top 3 teams in the Premiership.

  385. Franchise says:

I think Wenger has finally given up on Toure. Injury permitting he would be 3rd choice behind Silvestre and Gallas.

  386. rico01 says:

Afternoon All, top post but what about the handball for the goal ;)

    Just for you chary :)

  387. ethangunner says:

  388. Arsenal Tom says:

gallas killed toures arsenal career as much as he did senderos’

  389. JonJon says:

iv said this before but if money bags city make an offer for toure, i think wenger will let him go, silvestre and JD are ahead of him now and even when he returns from injury he’ll struggle to get into the 1st team.

we could then use the money to buy a nasty defender.

i love kolo to bits but hes lost it and theres no room for sentiment in todays game, not when your a top4 side

  390. peachesgooner says:

    Afternoon all

All these Big Phil lovers coming out of the woodwork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought he was a great defender and definitely a leader on the pitch. He was always shouting. Bloody Drogba did it for him!!!!

  391. Stu says:

Franchise, I see your point about Toure walking back into the team but Senderos and Phil had a great partnership the season before Gallas arrived and they got to the CL final together. I dont know what it was between them but they just seemed to work.

It seems that Senderos just works best when he is next to a Toure?Gallas type defender. Even JD to an extent. Remember when Senderos’ Switserland were knocked out of the WC without conceding.

Its all about confidence for senderos. He has ben shit since Gallas arrived because he only gets a game here and there when someone else is out. He needs a run in the team to fulfill his true potential. Even last season he got better with each game he played when Kolo was at the acon.

  392. Franchise says:

Toure is just a side kick that is why he is 3rd choice. He can only look good beside a commanding CB. U wouldnt trust him to coordinate your back 4 like u wldnt trust Gary Glitter around your kids. The guy is like Robin. He would never be batman. Not even for his national team. Good player on his day though

  393. JonJon says:

senderos was an average player, we dont need anymore average players, a permanent move is the best thing for the lad,

  394. JonJon says:

italys the best place for him, the slow pace will suit him

  395. Franchise says:

Stu Toure and Senderos were good that year (2006) but it was only in Europe. We were woeful in the league. We finished 24 points behind chelsea, we lost 11 games and conceded 31 goals

  396. JonJon says:

toure and senderos both average, we need worldclass defenders or PL class at least.

  397. A says:

When Switzerland were amazing defensively Senderos was absolutely immense, didn’t he get into team of the tournament or am i just making that up?! Djourou wasn’t partnering him though he was just a squad player the majority of the time. The first season Senderos came through, when Sol got injured and Senderos won player of the month a couple of times he was alongside Toure, bringing sol back in for the fa cup final really killed his confidence. I agree completely about senderos being a confidence player. He suffers from the fact he’s one of the most intelligent footballers around, which means he analyses all of his weaknesses and mistakes etc, rather than being thick as shit and having the immovable arrogance of the majority of top class footballers. The same goes for Bendtner to an extent.

Yaya is a regular for Barca again, at the start of the season they rotated Keita and Yaya, though Keita was probably first choice, but last few games Yaya has got back in the side and started the past few games, though Keita started alongside him at the weekend. They seem to be very happy interchanging Keita and Yaya, and to a lesser extent sergio busquets, so Yaya isn’t necessarily immovable, and they’ll want to get rid of competition to help busquets play more games. I’d imagine we’d be alot more likely in the summer though.

  398. Franchise says:

We had to poison Spurs players that year if not we would have finished out of the top 4

  399. A says:

jonjon for a couple of years Toure was absolutely amazing for us, on par with the likes of ferdinand, he was as good as anyone! The partnership with Gallas killed him a little bit, and then after coming back from the ANC with Malaria he looks a shadow of his former self, I wouldn’t be surprised if he never got back to his old heights which is very very sad.

  400. dennisdamenace says:

Fuck Swiss Phil and the horse he rode into town on!

  401. Stu says:

    Lehmann
    Eboue Toure Phil Flamini

The best defence in the history of the champions league. Go figure huh!

  402. JonJon says:

    A

im one of those who dont really rate Yaya,

hes a bit of a journeyman and only really had one good season at barca, hes sort of fizzled out,

yaya would just be another average player, we need some actual proven quality, someone whos been doing it season after season, not just 1 season.

  403. A says:

It was 04/05 when Senderos and Toure were absolutely amazing, when Sol got injured then reinstated for the fa cup final. We were second comfortably but chelsea were just unbeatable that year

  404. Stu says:

Toure got Malaria in the middle of the Summer, he didnt get that during the acon. He must have caught the shit bug during the acon.

  405. Paulinho says:

Senderos plays okay for Switzerland, nothing special. I’ve noticed alot of supporters point to his national displays to back him up but he’s had a few nightmares for them as well.

I remember the game against Togo in the world cup. He was dreadful, missing every clearance and when he did get contact he spooned it up in the air.

He is a massive liability and I hope he stays where he is. We’re not some rescue centre for fragile footballers. We have enough of them as it is.

  406. charybdis1966 says:

Rico, as I squinted at the goal at the opposite end of the ground from me and saw Niki pink boots take his shirt off(in celebration)I thought of you and how pleased that would make you. :)
But to be fair, he made a few howlers before that(laying a through ball to an empty space, I don’t mean Song’s skull BTW) even though he showed a commendable sense of urgency in his running/closing down etc..

  407. Franchise says:

A read my comment at 4:13pm Toure is an athlete he is not a good CB. He makes alot of errors but relies on his athleticism to bail himself out. He needs someone like Sol who is very vocal to tell him what to do or he is as clueless as Song Thats the reason why he panics so much. Remember Drogba’s 2nd at the Bridge last season. One of the worst defending u would ever see in your life.

  408. Franchise says:

A it was 05/06 Champions league final year

  409. A says:

I wouldn’t say he’s fizzled out – last season was his first at barca! And the season before he was brilliant for Lyon which is why Barca came in for him! He’s playing regularly for the best team in europe, and was one of their best players last year, wouldn’t call him average. I don’t know what’s proven quality if he isn’t!? Although his style of play is debatable, he was an attacking midfielder originally but turned into a DM at Lyon and Barca, and he’d certainly add the physicality to our midfield we desperately need. I’d expect there are a few better defensive midfielders, but Toure would definitely fit into our style of play coming from barca, is incredibly powerful, and probably available.

  410. Stu says:

Another mistake that Wenger made. Remember when we we got to the CL final? For the final he reinstated Sol and Cole. Cole played Eto’ onside for Lehmanns sending off and although Sol scored he could be partly at fault for Belettis goal because he scored on the left side of defence(Sols side). Its was ultimately the wrong decision to drop Flamini and Phil.

  411. JonJon says:

A, toure was good alongside sol, but he was a side kick, i wouldnt of put him in the same bracket as ferdinand, but your right for a couple of seasons he was good, now hes lost it.

we need to stay away from african players, thats one of the reasons i dont want yaya, the more africans you have, the more of your squad will fuck off for a month half way through the season and come back fucked,

we have enough problems as it is with injuries, we dont need any players like that with baggage, african players bring baggage,

if im honest the only african id have would be essien

  412. Franchise says:

Senderos is a better and more natural CB than Toure. Toure is a better athlete or player. None of them is Ferdinand’s class. Senderos has the chance but Toure I doubt it. But hey what do I know

  413. kelsey says:

You misses my point. No one said Senderos was great, but why did we let him go now, when our squad was smaller than last year.He would be better than song or as good as silvestre. We have too many average players, who at best are either reserve team players or too young.

The season before last toure was argueably our best player but the anc and malari and weight gain seems to have made him past his best.look at any video of him 2 yera ago he was leaner and sharper, but i wouldn’t sell him now.

  414. A says:

franchise the year before he was quality in the prem though, that was the season he won player of the month awards i believe.

paulinho he’s won player of the year awards for switzerland, he’s one of their most important and best players internationally

  415. Stu says:

A, Yaya has never played for Lyon. Are you thinking of Monaco?

  416. Paulinho says:

We very well may have won the champions league in 2006 if Wenger had kept Fabregas on and not put on the then, headless chicken Flamini.

Flamini ended up giving away possession and six passes later Barca equalised. We were keeping the ball just fine with Fabregas although he was tiring.

Just when you feel sorry for Wenger you are still able to trace every disappointment back to major fuck up on his part.

  417. Franchise says:

I agree JonJon Utd didnt have one on their books last season. Fergie’s plans werent affected by the nations cup.

  418. JonJon says:

proven quality is someone thats been doing it on both domestic and world stage for a few seasons on the trot,

    di rossi is proven quality
    essien is proven quality

    gattuso alonso players like that

yaya doesnt fall into that category, and hes a liability because hes african, we dont need anymore. kolo went to the acn and it competely messed up his game

  419. A says:

Yeah I agree toure needs to play alongside someone big, but I wouldn’t say that set up is centre back and side kick/athlete. The big and small combination works very well, as players who are the best in the air, generally aren’t the best on the deck, and vice versa. Toure though never that powerful was amazing on the deck, one hell of an athlete but he also seemed to read the game very well, nothing got passed him. He and Gallas are similar in that sense though I do think Gallas is a better reader of the game and Toure a better athlete, both perform much better alongside someone big and powerful. Obviously something has been very wrong with Kolo for a while but we shouldn’t give up hope he’ll regain whatever he lost! He’s still relatively young got a good few years left in him.

I think we let Senderos go because he wasn’t going to start, and Milan wanted him to play regularly. So he would have wanted to go and Wenger would have thought it would be good for his development. He also knew in Silvestre he could get in an adequate replacement and also add alot of experience.

  420. Paulinho says:

Wenger has always felt the best form of defence is attack/possession. Yet when it comes to substitutions he goes against his natural philosophy all the time.

I think he is unable to think clearly and bottles it, this ‘bottling’ nearly always manifests itself in a cautious, predictable substitution that never always bites him the arse.

I remember that game against United in 2004 at highbury. 1-0 nil up with Henry scoring, cruising the game, when Wenger decides to put Cygan on the left wing. Immediately we concede the iniative and United equalise.

  421. Franchise says:

Wengers deficiency in the other details of the game that dont include passing in triangles and playing CM as wingers has cost him a lot of trophies.

    Galatasaray Uefa Cup 2001
    Liverpool FA Cup 2001
    Premiership 2007/08, 02/03, 98/99, 00/01
    Champions League 2006
    Carling Cup 2007

  422. A says:

jonjon yaya is proven quality though, playing for arguably the best team in europe for a year and a half and in france too. I like the fact that he’s travelled around alot too, shows that he can adapt to different styles of play. Whereas De Rossi would probably be amazing, but he’s never played out of Italy, and you never know how players would adapt. Why does someone being african make them a liability?! I agree about the ANC but that should hopefully be changing in the next couple of years.

yeah sorry stu, i meant monaco, not lyon

  423. JonJon says:

Your right A, a defensive pairing needs to complement eachother toure used to complement sol but at the minute he doesnt complement anybody, hes been overtaken and as sad as it is, he may need a fresh start somewhere else, we could still get good money for him and if you think about it he wouldnt be missed

then all we need to do is sell song, eboue and ade, buy all the spanish squad and essien lol

  424. Michael P says:

Paulinho…Cygan, on the left wing? REALLY???

  425. JonJon says:

i hear what your saying A but i just dont rate him and i dont think hes what we need. just extra baggage

id have veloso over yaya any day, now theres a player,

  426. A says:

I wouldn’t call it bottling it paulinho, but I do get what you mean. I think it’s a symptom of our style of play. Because our best form of defence is possession, when our players tire in big battle type games towards the end we have to choose between leaving on the tired player, who is often absolutely dead, bringing on like for like (if even available) in which case we don’t add anything defensively, but try to keep the possession game, but coming on in big games it’s very difficult for subs to get up to the pace of the game and be sharp enough to keep possession well, or bring on a defensive player and sacrifice the possession game. The decision is usually the third, but all three have their own negative impacts on the team! Although defensively we can at times be solid, we could never play traditionally defensively and be solid, it’s annoying

  427. avenell says:

It’s not just the ANC that is a pain in the arse.. It was the south American equivelant, that caused Gilberto to lose his place last August..

  428. A says:

I dunno about Veluso jonjon, just because coming from portugal you never know how long or how well a player will adapt. Yeah I was very unsure about yaya, just because he isn’t REALLY a defensive mid, but the more I watch us, although the likes of mascherano are fantastic defensive mids, I almost feel that our lack of any sort of physical strength in midfield is the biggest problem for us. The way stoke and villa just basically bullied us into submission made me think we just need some power, and Yaya would undoubtedly provide that, though he’d have superior defensive capabilities compared to alot of others.

  429. Seb says:

    A

Good point about Senderos being intelligent and analysing his weaknesses too much, the guy has bled Arsenal whenever he plays, he has just made silly mistakes. He was the most aggressive CB we had last season, he actually heads the ball and tackles people, it’s whether he can get his head straight or not. I hope he does, he doesn’t seem to think he’ll be coming back from Milan judging by his comments when he pitched up there, but I would like to see him become the Arsenal defender we all hoped he would.

  430. JonJon says:

the thing with africans A is that most of them are atheletes, not footballers, you win the olympics with atheletes not the premierleague.

when was the last time an african team won a world cup? or even got to the semis?

you never see an african player dribble or be creative, if you do they come along once every blue moon, its all about power and speed with them.

the best africans that are worth having in our team are all at the best clubs and would cost millions, e.g. essien

the africans we have are second rate eg song eboue kolo and even ade.

then theres also the fact they pack their bags and dissapear for a month half way through the season and come back knackered for the business end of the season.

look at manutd, they have not one african on their books, and lat year they won the double, i think franchise has already stated that fergies season was not hampered by the ACN

liverpool have no africans and the are flying at the top of the league and have won the CL before.

chelsea are the only team that can be excused cos they have a machine in essien and they have the squad to cope when the ACN comes up

ACN players need to be given a wide berth, like i said BAGGAGE.

  431. Keyser says:

Franchise – “Liverpool FA Cup 2001″ Just off the top of my head so could be wrong, that was all Wenger and not Liverpool employing about 3 different goalies on the pitch at the same time ?!

  432. chozzer says:

Thought this fitted nicely with the post.

    http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2085163/aliev/

  433. Arsenal Tom says:

kolo wouldnt be missed? course he would… when gallas fucks off back to france and we loose kolo that leaves us with djourou and silvestre!??! one injury and we’re playing song!??!

  434. JonJon says:

i like veloso hes one of them players that can play anywhere, he reads the game well and has power and technique, him and moutinho are excellent at sporting but veloso is the stand out one for me.

manutd are supposed to be after him as a replacement for hargreaves,

  435. JonJon says:

id rather have no kolo than a kolo playing like crap tom

  436. A says:

Alot of that is a myth jonjon, it comes from subtle racism inbedded in our society. Africans are not less intelligent in terms of reading the game or having vision, it’s just that the coaching and infrastructure in africa isn’t anything like as good so technically and tactically they come to europe more raw than most, but if they come to europe early then they’re fine. Kolo is a very good footballer, as is Essien. Kanu and okocha were two of the best dribblers and creative players in world football! Kolo and Eboue are not second rate either, Kolo has gone downhill and Eboue is a bit of a nob on the pitch at times but both at their best are fantastic footballers!

The only thing with africans as such is going away mid season for the african nations, but that should be changed soonish

  437. Stu says:

So we are all agreed? Senderos to come back and go into the team at the expense of Toure. The only proper run Phil ever had in the team was when he first arrived. Since then he has been a back-up and his confidence has been rockbottom as a result.

He was nicknamed swiss-tony for a reason. TA made lots of mistakes and bled for the Arsenal cause whenever he had to. The difference is that Seneros was dropped when he made a mistake and that really affected him. Why is it that Wenger stupidly sticks but some shit players but in Senderos’ case just dropped him straight away. (relatively speaking)

  438. Keyser says:

JonJon – Fergies season wasn’t hampered at all, they had f*ck all injuries and were able to rest players out of choice rather than necessity.

Bentitez has already said some of his players look tired and there squad should be tested a whole lot more than it has already this season unless they get realy lucky.

How much money do you think has been invested into African football, it’s going to take time to get the tecnical side of the game up to the qualities of the rest of the world, Kolo is nowhere near second rate, he’s had some poor form in recent months but at times he’s been awesome, both he and Yaya spent time in soccer schools like Proline.

  439. Arsenal Tom says:

    jon… song or crap kolo?

  440. JonJon says:

Mate, its got nothing to do with racism, thats abit below the belt mate

Iv already said, there are good africans out there, if we were offered essien id jump for joy, but all the best ones a taken, id i never said they were less intelligent, i said they were atheletes, not natural footballers.

the rest of what i said is fact

manutd have no africans, our season is disrupted by the ACN, its not racist its a footballing fact mate.

id take essien anyday over kolo song eboue and ade put together, so in that sense yes they are second rate.

  441. JonJon says:

    neither tom

there both as bad at the minute, id rather put gavin hoyte in mate

  442. Stu says:

I dont think anyone suggested that Africans aren;t good footballers, more so that they lack the tactical astuteness that is needed to succeed in todays very tactical orientated world of football.

It s true that all africans are amazing athletes but they lack what is needed to beat the best. If anyone here ever watches the acon then they will have seen that all the games are end to end. Very much we attack, you attack. Its great to watch but not if you yourself appreciate the defensive aspect of football.

I get the feeling that Wenger doesnt care about defending Its pretty obvious that he doesnt place the dame value on a good defender as he does a good footballer. Forget about all this total football nonsense, that died years ago. Its not enough anymore just to field 11 footballers, you need people who can also stop the opposition hurting you.

Thats part of the reason why I feel that Africans make bad defenders because they just want to play attacking football and fuck defending. And also why I reluctantly admit that whilst Wenger remains at the helm we will fail to win another meaningly trophy.

  443. Big Raddy says:

    Enening All

Africans ? I would take Eto’o – in fact I would walk to Barca to sign him.

As to Afrcan technique – I seem to recall the most technically gifted player I have seen in an Arsenal shirt was African. BigFoot Kanu. A man with a phenomenal touch.

Swiss Phil ? There were many on here calling for Phil’s head last season. Saying he was a disaster waiting to happen. Has a trip to Milan changed your minds ? I always liked him, but he has the turning circle of a supertanker

  444. JonJon says:

Keyser when was the last time we won something?

And when was the last time we won something with 4 africans in our squad.

Im not against them theres some highly talented ones out there but they are all at the best clubs already

if you think that eboue kolo ade or song would get into fergies scolaris or benitez side i want some of what your taking

  445. Arsenal Tom says:

fair enough… i think kolo should stay… gallas can fuck himself back to france in jan or the summer but we should keep kolo… we need a bit of stability where our most experienced/best players dont leave for a change.

  446. A says:

jonjon i wasn’t calling you racist in any way shape or form, i apologise if you interpretted as that. It’s a very common misconception about african players and black players in general that they are just athletes and don’t read the game very well etc. It’s very present in the media and the idiotic pundits. I just did part of my degree on something similar so know a fair bit about it and the underlying racist history behind it! Wasn’t an attack on you whatsoever.

The average african players it can be true that they aren’t as good well rounded footballers compared to average european players, because of the far inferior coaching and infrastructure, but good and above african players come to europe much earlier, and are as good footballers as anyone as they have the same coaching. The best striker in the world in my opnion is Et’oo! Yaya is a fantastic footballer, as is Essien. Okocha and Kanu were incredible footballers. Any african players we go after would be top african players, and they are no lesser footballers as such than anyone else. All the africans we have are very good footballers.

  447. Big Raddy says:

JJ. I do not think your comments are racist, There is ample evidence to support your argument. But there is also evidence to dispute it.

e.g He comes from Senegal – he plays for Arsenal……..

  448. Keyser says:

Heh, I’d take the present World footballer of the year, everyone else is distinctly second rate, come on.

  449. JonJon says:

I thought i was the only one then stu, i just didnt put it as good as you,
    lol

BR exactley id have eto too, but already at a big club, like i said and would cost millions

like essien like drogba, etoo is one of the talented ones but they are already taken, we have four and none of them are that good so why should we get anymore unless its a player like essien, its a total waste of time

Kanu, gifted technically, but like i said, once every blue moon.

  450. Keyser says:

JonJon – Kolo at his peak ? Eboue at right back over Paulo Ferreira ? Don’t even bother with Liverpool.

You think any of those wouldn’t want Adebayor ?!

  451. nucks says:

Jon jon, you have a point there. The ACN always kills us. Also you are right about the athleticism of african players in general but like european footballers or south american’s there are some who are more skillful than others. Kanu had maybe the best feet along with Bobby Pires and Hleb that i’ve ever seen. The crucial point for me is that you can’t afford to lose key players in the middle of the season.

  452. Big Raddy says:

    Keyser. Isn’t Kaka Brazilian ?

  453. Keyser says:

JonJon – So it’s got almost nothing to do with them being African, save say them going off to play in the African Nations Cup, you just want good players, all you had to do was say.

I wouldn’t even moan about the African Nations Cup, we have plenty of players going off to the Euro’s they still get tired, injured and Fatigued there aswell.

  454. Big Raddy says:

ACN ? What about England friendlies !!

  455. JonJon says:

Haha, yes BR, but hes gone,

what im saying is why should we buy second rate players, african or not, when what we are lacking is proven quality,

the topic of the african players came up because we were talking about YAYA, i dont rate him and i dont think we need anymore ACN players because half our squad disappear at the ACN

there are good african players out there, but unless they are the best at what they do, like the essiens and the etoos, why should we take them and hinder our squad with more players that arent good enough. like song and eboue

  456. Keyser says:

Big Raddy – Essien is one of the best players in the World, so everyone else who doesn’t perform as well as him is second rate..

  457. nucks says:

Big Raddy, good point. seems like AW is the only manager who will let players play in friendly’s. But still in the past few years England friendly’s haven’t applied to us have they.

  458. JonJon says:

Keysor would you have adebayor over david villa??

  459. A says:

I agree that it doesnt make sense to sign someone who will be off to the african nations mid season if we can sign an equivalent who won’t. Eboue was an incredible right back the champions league season though, and is a very good footballer. I don’t see an equivalent to him. Adebayor neither in terms of price. Song is a debatable one though!! Toure was absolutely brilliant too. We don’t have africans for the sake of africans, they were probably the best we could get! Except for Bosingwa I’d have Eboue over any other right back in the premiership, and he doesn’t even get in our team!

  460. JonJon says:

Keysor, our africans arent that good mate

no matter how you put it adebayor is no drogba

    song is no essien

other big teams dont burden themselves with such players why should we???

  461. Stu says:

We need less African defenders and more good defenders. Like Vidic and Skrtael(to an extent). Big mean bastards who will try anything to win the ball ahead of the striker. Chiellini is the answer to all our problems. Is there a better defender in Europe at the moment? I dont think there is. (aside from that cunt Carragher)

  462. JonJon says:

Toure is no longer a first teamer and sagna is ahead of eboue so doesnt that mean AW thinks they are second rate too???

songs a waste of time and adebayor cant finish his dinner!!!

  463. Keyser says:

It’s got nothing to do with being African then, albeit some vague tecnical point of view, you just want better players.

I’d want Adebayor up front with Villa if anything, they are different players, whether ones from Africa or the others from Spain almost means nothing.

  464. Stu says:

Eboue doesnt get in our team anymore because he is injured at the moment and Sagna has an amazing debut season. Plus Sagna is more defensive and Wenger is yet again ruining a good player by changing his position midway through his career(eboue).

  465. Stu says:

I’ld never have Ade next to Villa if given the choice. I wouldnt want Ade-itis spreading to arguably the best striker in the world at the moment. Certainly in terms of goals

  466. Big Raddy says:

We have to keep Kolo. We need players that are Arsenal. And Kolo is one of those. And he is a fine player who is struggling with form. He will return.

IMHO we are fine defensively. We could use a better defensive coach, but the personnel are good enough.

We need a tasty midfield player. Just until our kids can put on some muscle and stamina. So, I think that AW can take someone older – maybe 28+.

  467. Confidentgoner says:

Why can we not play Toure or Ebue as DM? They will surely be faster, stronger than Song or Dennilson the incumbents. Ramsey will fare better in front than as a DM.

  468. JonJon says:

Ill agree with you there, Keyser, ade and villa would be awsome

my original point was with A over Yaya, i dont rate him as highly as he does and so i mentioned the ACN as another disadvantage of having another african player

everybody sort of came in mid way through and may have misinterprated what i was saying

but come on youve gotta be honest with me, if we were going to go buy another african to improve the squad, it would have to be someone like essien

your right though african or not, i want better players, who doesnt???

  469. Big Raddy says:

Just lost the cricket again. Thank goodness the Aussies aren’t here.

  470. Big Raddy says:

Can you believe that FatLAmps won European Midfielder of the Year. He isn’t even second best midfilder at Chelsea !!

For me, Essien is the best midfield player in the World. He has everything. And then there is Ballack…… Now , he would have been good for us

  471. JonJon says:

Whoo hoooo somebody agrees about essien, id of taken ballack though

  472. kelsey says:

    Evening Raddy,

we agree about toure,it would be unthinkable for him to leave.i think part of our problem is that both sagna and clichy like to bomb forward as we are an attacking siide and when they dont track back the defensive cover lets us down.

  473. kelsey says:

how football has changed,in the 70′s fullbacks weren’t allowed to cross the half way line.

i see MFI has gone bust yet again and Woolworth is available for 31.00 with 385million debt.I only mention this,as our footballers have never had it so good and the fans deserve 100%.The FA believe half a million peole are already starting to stop going to games because of the credit crunch.

If rvp wants 80k a week,a player i admire but has played about 1 season in 3,he should prove it first.

  474. kelsey says:

    i meant £1.00

  475. Keyser says:

I think we place too much emphasis on one or two players, they can’t shoulder all the blame, last season we worked well because we defended and attacked as a team, it was like a well oiled machine.

When you lose one of those components or have to replace and rely on others that aren’t quite ready or need time to adapt to their surroundings it’s going to take time to find that same sort of form.

It doesn’t mean the other players are any better or worse but that the team dynamic has been thrown off kilter and others playing have to accept extra responsibilites.

  476. Geoff says:

I wouldn’t ever sign another African purely because of the ACN, fuck all to do with playing for England, we lose them for 2 months and more if they get injured or get malaria.

Just because you don’t want Africans if fuck all to do with being racist, that’s boring bringing that up, make the ACN the same time as the world cup or the Euros no problem.

Anyway you’re all trying to avoid calling Song shit, because he is shit.

  477. avenell says:

Kelsey… That’s why I don’t think Arsenal have as much spare cash as we would like to think we have!

  478. A says:

of course saying we’d rather not sign players who are away for an international tournament mid season isn’t racist. saying africans are just athletes and not good footballers is a common misconception based on stupidity and racism deeply inbedded in our society going back decades.

in terms of international football having players who play for african or south american nations is a big killer for european teams, it’s very irritating

  479. kelsey says:

    avenell,

i don’t quite understand your reply,do you mean the credit crunch or have i missed the point

  480. Keyser says:

    Geoff – I don’t think Song’s shit.

Europeans play at the Euro’s, South Americans play in the Copa America, Africans play in the African Cup of Nations.

  481. Big Raddy says:

    Evening Kelsey.

I started my working life as a Saturday boy in Woolworth’s !

Sad to see it in such straits

  482. avenell says:

Credit crunch , Kelsey. If it’s taking buisnesses down like MFI and Woolworths it must be affecting football clubs.

  483. Geoff says:

The Copa is in the summer Keyser, the ACN is January and February, which in case you didn’t realise is in the middle of the season!

And if you don’t think Song is shit I’m struggling to understand what you think he has in the way of qualities, he’s slow, can’t tackle, can’t pass, can’t head the ball and apart from 1 goal can’t shoot.

    He’s shit.

  484. A says:

All internationals are annoying, but I actually think the South Americans are a bigger problem for premiership teams than african nations. The ANC is very very annoying every two years. But the south and central american internationals mean such a large distance travelled and along with time difference means a player basically can’t play on the saturday after an international week, or if he does nowhere near his best. They also play a ridiculous amount of qualifiers, and the copa america in the summer every couple of years makes players absolutely exhausted come the start of the next season. Although the african nations is very annoying for that month every 2 years, at least players playing in africa internationally get every summer off, so should always have summer to rest except for world cup years

  485. Geoff says:

Raddy I agree, it used to be the shop, unfortunately now it’s shit, not as shit as Song, but shit all the same.

  486. Pedro says:

Afternoon Grovers… or should I say evening?

    Anything exciting Arsenal wise?

  487. Geoff says:

A all you’re doing is saying we shouldn’t buy players from either, I don’t have a problem with that but Ronaldinho and Kaka are two exceptions as is Vela.

  488. avenell says:

Hi, Pedro.. Cana is playing against the Dippers.. That might be Arsenal related.
    :)

  489. A says:

Geoff Song can tackle, and can pass, but just not at the tempo we try and play. He’s not bad in the air either. Similar to Baptista in that respect he’ll do well elsewhere or in a different league but completely out of place with us. He’s absolutely attrocious on the ball trying to play with us, and was an embarrassment yesterday, but lets not be silly

  490. Geoff says:

Yes Pedro, we’re all discussing how shit Song is and I found one person that likes him, no not his mum or Wenger, it’s Keyser.

  491. Pedro says:

    MFI and Wooly’s closed down?

Well… Woolworths haven’t sold anything worth buying since pic became cheaper elsewhere… what a shite shop. That should have gone bust years ago anyway!

As for MFI… £200 fully furnished kitchens on 0% finance over 16 years was never going to last!

  492. mark says:

anyone read the article about xavi an arsenal target?
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1089590/Arsenal-target-Xavi-moves-closer-exit-Barca-baulk-wage-demands.html?ITO=1490
i dont think theres a chance of him coming to arsenal as wenger has his wage limis too

  493. Geoff says:

Similar to Baptista? what game were you watching this season, that’s the scariest thing I’ve heard, Pedro add A to that list.

  494. Geoff says:

Are you fucking ignoring me Pedro.

  495. Keyser says:

Geoff – The Copa had Gilberto strgugling for form, Fabregas seemed tired and had to be given extra time to recover because of the Euro’s.

So what if it’s in the middle of the season, each tournament still has an effect on the player’s, I think the African Cup of Nations is played at that time because covering a massive continent the temperatures vary massively and it’s the best solution for all the countries. You simply can’t play in the heat of the summer.

He can tackle, he can pass, he can shoot and he has scored, maybe just not as regularly as you would like.

  496. A says:

I agree geoff, if there are equivalents then we shouldn’t buy from either, but most of the time there aren’t. Vela is an exceptional talent, but his impact this season has been massively hindered by internationals. Ronaldinho and Kaka and all the south and central american players in spain and italy are helped out by the extra day, it makes a massive difference. After international weeks the premiership should just make sunday the official match day.
After the last international week the top 4 in the prem didn’t score a goal, and nearly every other big team in europe struggled, Milan and barca drew, madrid scraped a win but were crap, internationals are just crap!

  497. Pedro says:

Pierre sent in a cracker to the funnies… childish… but ever so humorous!

  498. kelsey says:

    evening pedro,

geoff would know better than me,but london being the hub of the western world in a business sense, the expers are predicting that england could feel the worst of the recession and this must have an effect on football.
what is a saving of 2.5% on vat going to do.
maybe wenger sees this coming,he is an economist but i would love to know how much money he really hasn’t spent.

  499. A says:

geoff not in style of play, similar to baptista in that in their own right they both are good players, and will do well elsewhere. But we have a very unique style of play, and both baptista and song’s strengths and weaknesses don’t suit our style of play, so they’ll be much more successful elsewhere, and won’t ever be able to play to their strengths with us. That’s why Baptista is so good elsewhere, and Song was the best player at the last African Nations, because the tempo is so much slower

  500. Pedro says:

Sorry Geoff, Keyser and A love everyone at Arsenal… that, or they enjoy the role of devils advocate ;-)

  501. raif says:

i dont know if anyone already knows. BUT

Jack Wilshere Brock Theo Walcotts record of being the Youngest Gunner to appear in the European Competition at 16 years and 329 days

  502. Pedro says:

… in fairness though Geoff, you do have an unhealthy dislike for Song.

I hope we never bump into him on the Blackstock road… or if we do, I hope his English is too poor to decipher your expletives.

  503. kelsey says:

Keyser you forgot that when gilberto came back from the copa he had to fly straight back because of a bereavement,i think he got a rough deal,we could have held on to him for at least this season.

  504. A says:

i wonder if england will ever be invited to the copa america, it happened in my football manager game! doubt it somehow

  505. Keyser says:

Kelsey – We don’t know exactly how it went down, he barely played all last season and Wenger would have known all his times in speed tests and fitness levels in comparison to previous years. If we’d bought someone in or even regardless for the Brazilian Captain to be sitting on the bench wouldn’t have been the best deal for anyone.

They probably sat down together and decided that the best option for him was to get one last paydeal in Greece, I don’t think he would’ve forced him out that would have made no sense at all.

  506. Pedro says:

Kelsey, Wenger must have seen this coming for the last 12 years… because he has always been pretty frugal!

I’m not sure what a reduction on VAT will do… the supermarkets were doing quite a good job reducing the price of goods anyway and a reduction in VAT wont bring your job back will it?

  507. bergkamp says:

    song for madrid real,galactico song

  508. bergkamp says:

businesses all claim the vat back on the tax anyway

  509. raif says:

    Keyser

i think ur right. one thing i notced about Arsenal/Wenger they look for a good deal for the player there letting go. Gilberto is the best example. as i dont think Wenger would have let him go if it was up to him.

  510. JonJon says:

evening guys, im back, had errands to run,

whats the topic now?? Copa america
VAT and how shit song is now theres a suprise

  511. bergkamp says:

gilberto was finished last season anyway,he run like a man with iron boots on,an went sideways more often than jamie redknapp, the whole flamini diarra thing should have been asessed better, diarra said he wouldnt have left if he knew flamini was gonna leave

  512. Pedro says:

Raif, lets not give Wenger and Arsenal too much credit for that…

Berto probably earnt the best part of £60k a week for 3 years… he didn’t need a good retirement package and he would have been happy to play on at Arsenal. The same goes for Pires and the rest of them.

Wenger uses that contract thing as an excuse to move players on.

  513. kelsey says:

I don’t always express myself well when i type.i meant that the vat reduction will have no or little effect on encouraging people to buy in the shops, that’s what brown wanted, even though these people are all ready up to their eyes in debt.and many shops are already on dramatic sale price reduction.furthermore the weak pound may well help exports, but nearly everything bought in the shops is imported and therefore the prices will go up.

with regards to gilbeto who knos, but he,flamini and senderos have not been replaced.

  514. JonJon says:

why didnt wenger let diarra go on loan for 6 months??? surely that would of been the best solution

    mis manangement

would any of you take diarra back???

Pompey need the money, i reckon we could get him for 10mil,

  515. avenell says:

A weak pound means we are going to have to pay even more money out in wages for players.

  516. Geoff says:

Take it from me Wenger hasn’t got a clue, he’s just doing his experiment and it hasn’t worked.

This recession is going to go on for 2-3 years and will in my opinion get much worse, that’s what gets my goat with how much money go to sportsmen, but if they have talent I don’t begrudge it, Song though is talentless, he’s shit.

Pedro if I saw him on the Blackstock, I’d tell him to his face, I told Beckham and you were with me.

Dropping the VAT rate is completely pointless as is dropping the interest rates, the propoerty market has at least 12 more months of dropping, it won’t pick up until first time buyers go in and that won’t happen until prices plummet.

The last thing this country needs is all those people that are hugely in debt, to get more in debt, it’s naive politics and all they are after is getting re elected and that won’t happen.

You could play Song for the next two seasons and he’ll still be shit.

  517. avenell says:

JonJon.. Diarra refused to go on loan..

  518. kelsey says:

Agreed pedro, especially pires.only 2 seasons ago gilberto scored 10+ goals(some where penalties) but he and Toure seemed to lose their form dramatically.

  519. Mandanda says:

Diarra did not want to go out on loan, for whatever reason

  520. Geoff says:

JoJon go back through our archives, I suggested that when Pompey came in, I said yesterday, Wenger is a good coach but a bad manager.

A half wit could work out that they would sell him a year late for double bubble.

I bet if you put Song on the market for £1mil, no fucker would buy him, he’s shit.

  521. Geoff says:

Avenall he had a four year contract, Wenger should have told him to shut his trap and wait his turn, poor management.

  522. Keyser says:

Pedro – I’m not giving anyone credit, I just think they sat down and talked everything through before deciding what was best, instead of orcing him out.

Geoff – So you think Wenger doesn’t have a clue ?! And that Song is completely talentsless and shit, Heh at least you don’t sit on the fence.

  523. PAUL says:

The highlihgt for me last night was those muppets around me got their come uppance.Approaching half time when we had a corner they were more interested in getting their free half time drink, the same wankers then leave early and miss the goal, good hope you got home ten minutes early.

  524. raif says:

    Pedro

Hmmm i see your point as it goes.

  525. kelsey says:

Geoff could you write my posts please,we both mean the same thing but you express yourself better than me.

  526. JonJon says:

fucking twunt we should of sold him then, disrespecting the club like that!!!!!! oh wait we did!!!!

songs disrespecting the club, we should sell him too

anyone that disrespects the club should be sold,

i wonder how many arsenal players currently are disprespectful???

  527. Pedro says:

Paul… don’t make out that it is only people in club level that go and get their beer early.

If anything… Club levellers go later becuase they don’t have to queue.

  528. kelsey says:

Paul.hello do you live in middlesex by any chance

  529. Geoff says:

Wenger only let’s players go he doesn’t rate, he didn’t let Ade go and he wouldn’t let Thierry go until he got Ade.

He thought a £2mil profit on Diarra was clever. And he probably got bonussed on it.

  530. Mandanda says:

    Bollocks! Song is world class

  531. Pedro says:

Keyser… it’s just a nice way of telling someone they are not in your plans.

I think having experience around the club is a good thing… Scholes and Giggs might not play as much as they used to, but they help the others.

  532. JonJon says:

    at least songs consistent geoff

  533. PAUL says:

Kelsey i used to,i work in middx live in Surrey why?

  534. JonJon says:

    consistently shit

  535. Geoff says:

Paul you obviously don’t go because if you did you’d see every other supporter in the lower terraces going before half time, we even took pictures once.

And last night when I left 3 roads and two stations were closed, I wish I had left early.

  536. JonJon says:

do you think wenger gets commission for the transfer dealings???

or is it built into his 1000mil squid a year contract????

  537. PAUL says:

Geoff what do you mean i don’t go?

  538. Geoff says:

I wouldn’t know Mandanda I’ve not seen his bollocks, I hope they are, he has to have something going for him cos he’s shit.

  539. bergkamp says:

diarra probably didnt want to go on loan because there is no signing on fee

  540. Geoff says:

Paul if you did you wouldn’t say what you just did, I sit in club and none of us go early, plenty underneath us do, slagging off club level people is getting boring and it’s insulting.

  541. JonJon says:

    bergkamp

i bet hed of stayed if we gave him the captaincy, or a double your money payrise.

  542. bergkamp says:

people leave the emirates early coz it takes fucking years to get out after a game

  543. Geoff says:

I reckon he gets money for not spending JonJon!

  544. Geoff says:

Took me an hour to get to the Liverpool road yesterday!

  545. bergkamp says:

JonJon he probably would have stayed if we played him against derby twice an sent him on when we were 3-0 up an cruising, but wenger loves his favourite 11 too much to rest them

  546. PAUL says:

Geoff i to sit in club leval with my two sons block 51 .

  547. Keyser says:

Pedro – I doubt anyone’s been that peeved at being sold, we’re not United, Gilberto isn’t Scholes or Giggs. It’d be nice to have some experience around but more so to have some that would make a marked difference.

Geoff – I don’t think Wenger is a bad manager, you may have a point on how much input he has or did have, Ashley Cole never blamed Wenger, Dein was the go between, between Cole and the board, and they could probably have the final say on what happens with players.

  548. raif says:

    Pedro / Geoff

how much money do you think we have lost in terms lost transfer fees from letting players run there contracts down or allowing them to leave on a free?

from all the players im sure we could have picked up a decent fee on all of them. ?

  549. kelsey says:

Paul,i think it was you who mentioned the 1969 league cup final,i lived in Surrey for 14 years befoe i came to spain, but i also lived in middx a long while back and i just had a gut feeling me may know people.if it was not you who mentioned the swindon game,i apologise.

  550. bergkamp says:

i sit on row 7 behind the goal an these days i stop an watch highlights rather than stand on the stairs waiting 15 minutes for movement,it takes the piss, the clock end emptied twice as fast

  551. Pedro says:

    Paul, we’re 55!

  552. Geoff says:

Well why are you calling us muppets and wankers then Paul, I don’t understand???

  553. Geoff says:

    Not anymore Pedro.

  554. JonJon says:

flamini would of stayed too, if we hadnt of treated him like a wally the season of the champions league run and we’d of given him a new contract instead of dropping him for an unfit cashley in the final and letting his contract run down.

    mis management

  555. bergkamp says:

an yes it is the poor seats behind the goal

  556. Pedro says:

Gilberto is world cup, copa america, Prem and FA cup winner… that is valuable experience. He would have made a big difference this year…

  557. Pedro says:

Really? Did you get a letter?

  558. bergkamp says:

if you get the daily mirror from the 4-4 draw with spurs i can be seen behind almunia letting that spaz bentley score

  559. bergkamp says:

we should employ a few arsenal guys like keown and maybe nige winterburn or john jenson an give them a free role in the club an the licence to let it be known what they would expect from certian characters round the club

  560. PAUL says:

Kelsey i lived in Staines it was me that talked about that day against Swindon

  561. Keyser says:

Pedro – A big difference ? I can understand it, but if he wasn’t assured of a place I can see why he moved on for whatever reasons.

  562. Pedro says:

JonJon… is it interesting that we’ll tie Song down to a 15 year deal when he has 3 years left to go on a contract… but when Flamini had a year to go on his… we weren’t interested.

I know he had his critics… but he was versatile and pretty good in most positions.

  563. kelsey says:

bergkamp i just ran the video,is that you with the pink hat and pink scarf ;)

  564. bergkamp says:

anyone know what arsenal are like if you wanna move season ticket locations?

  565. Pedro says:

Keyser, I am sure he said in interviews he was willing to fight for his place.

I believe he would have made a big difference… just like he did the season he played with Cesc as captain.

  566. bergkamp says:

lol kelsey that could be me,pink boots also, can you see a pink glow?

  567. kelsey says:

O.K Paul i used to sit in the west stand just left of centre half way up with the north bank to your left.

  568. JonJon says:

I was on MOTD and footy first. i was sat behind the goal for the sturridge pen at mancity, i was sat with their fans in row 3 but thats the only ticket i could get. bad but at least i was there, you could see me right next to almunias head. i was the only one not cheering when it went in.

totally off the point but i want my 2 mins of fame too, seing as though bergkamp got in the paper.

  569. Wrighty7 says:

    Evening Pedro/Geoff and Le Grovers,

Good post, I enjoyed reading that very much!

I’m glad that cheating bastard got sent off last night too!

Well done Gooners for not lambasting Gallas and I’m glad Nicklas Bendtner got a good mention.

  570. PAUL says:

Geoff i am not having a go at you sorry,it,s those who would rather enjoy the food that turn up late and miss half of the game, and give us dirty looks when i get behind the team.Sometimes i would love to go back to my old Northbank.Yes i am 55 but 18 when i am the Emirates.didnt mean to offend.

  571. JonJon says:

lmao kelsey bergkamp did you mix your pinks with your whites???

  572. bergkamp says:

i reckon song is only at arsenal because one of arsenes scouts went missin in cameroon an it was songs family who were demanding a start for alex or else

  573. Pedro says:

Geoff, I am guessing Paul is digging out the people responsible for taking up all the space in the bar… I forgot how annoying that is!

  574. Pedro says:

Wrighty, you were a Nik B backer right?

  575. Keyser says:

Pedro – He still left though and unless he came out and said he left completely against his wishes I don’t see what reason we have to believe any different, playing behind Cesc isn’t the same as playing behind Vieiria and I doubt he’d suddenly get any fitter or faster then what he was two years ago.

Even Flamini, he didn’t come out and say Arsenal treated me like this or that, he said Milan wanted me more and considering they could offer a hell of a lot more it makes sense. I didn’t want him to leave but he’d have hos own reasons moving on we’re just speculating.

  576. kelsey says:

actually all the old home shirts before numbers and names, went pink down the white sleeves, when you washed them.

  577. raif says:

    Wrighty7

    evening mate

  578. Wrighty7 says:

    Too right Pedro.

Nicklas Bendtner seems to exclude confidence and can come across as a cocky chap but I think underneath that brazen exterior is a player low in his self belief at the moment.

The pink boots do him no favours. They give the impression of a flash git and should only be worn by someone like Cristiano Ronaldo, who not only has the talent to pull them off but has the good looks to go with it!

Bendtner has had his critics over his performances in recent games (deservedly so) and I think it has stung him. He has been poor but then so have the whole team.

There can be no doubt he has good quality but he is a young man and his performances will be erratic. He will gain consistency with experience.

I believe he will make it at Arsenal but only if he shows the correct attitude. He has good potential and the way he took his goal last night showed the talent the lad has.

The goal was a timely boost for him. Hopefully he can kick on from here and show Gooners the reason Arsene Wenger has placed his trust in him.

  579. Wrighty7 says:

    Evening Raif,

Hows things mate? Hows the little ‘un?

  580. bergkamp says:

JonJon i bought the boots, classic poof pink

  581. Pedro says:

Keyser, I can’t remember many occasions in football when a player has said, ‘I left because they didn’t want me’.

Remember when Freddie left to join and ambitious club?

I’m not going to hunt out the article… but I am sure I read somewhere that he took issue with not being offered a new contract last year. His lawyer certainly made rumblings of that nature at the time.

  582. JonJon says:

    pedro,

although flamini only seemed to well last season. i was one of those who thought he was good and consistent all the time he was with us, his energy and determination was a credit to him and he would play anywhere if asked

he deserved a new deal long before it ran down and when he finally got a chance in his best position he proved his class. note to wenger playing players in their natural positions gets the best out of them.

  583. Wrighty7 says:

    Bergkamp,

Tell me you are joking pal??????

  584. JonJon says:

    NBPKPB

    lmao

  585. Pedro says:

    Here we go:

    Flamini’s lawyer:

“You can imagine how Mathieu feels when his team is going through such a bad time and he cannot get a place in it.

“It’s been like this for him since he came back from France’s game against Argentina in February.

“Before that time he was able to play his part in getting Arsenal into promising positions in most of the competitions they were in.

“So it is both saddening and very frustrating for him to have to witness such bad results as a mere spectator.

“He is thinking very seriously about his future.

“Mathieu loves the game in England and does not necessarily want to leave it behind if he were to sever his connections with Arsenal.

“The trouble is he has had no explanation for being left aside.

“I can’t believe it’s a reaction at this stage by Arsenal because he insisted at the start of the season on playing midfield rather than at left-back.

“After all, it was a midfielder that Arsenal bought in Mathieu and he has played well whenever called on in that position.

“This is not a question of money. He is only thinking of his football career and that means more time on the pitch.

“Mathieu has adapted extremely well to life in England but believes he is being treated unfairly at the moment.

“He fears that could have serious impact on his self-confidence.”

  586. Pedro says:

    Flamini said:

“I have arrived at the end of a cycle.

“The Arsenal team is young and has qualities but I am playing less at the moment.

“That is not easy to go through and I am in a situation where every player asks himself questions.

“I have just spent three years at Arsenal and my lawyer has told me that I could leave in June.

“For that, I must pay the final year’s salary to the club.”

  587. Wrighty7 says:

I agree with you there Jonjon! I felt the same about Flamini.

He had a lot more heart than the current lot are showing!

  588. Pedro says:

Would you remain loyal to a club who did all that to you… then didn’t offer you a new contract?

    I wouldn’t…

  589. raif says:

    Wrighty7

well its both happy and pissed off. as im happy as the little one looks to be comming home very soon and at the same time im pissed off Bcos when i got home with the Missus we found a letter with her P45 inside it.

and in all honesty they cant get rid of somone when there on Maternity leave.

other then that im really happy Nikki-B got the winner for us.. i was laughing in everyones faces who was sitting around me last night at the game as they was giving him loads of stick. and he had only been on the pich for a few mins

  590. bergkamp says:

pink is the new black wrighty, all tough guys wear pink

  591. A says:

wrighty the boots have nothing to do with his confidence! He’s contracted to nike, they choose his boots, and they’re given alot of their top contracted players the pink boots to wear, ribery and arshavin are wearing them too, it isn’t like he chooses them! They’re just their newest big thing, it was reported about a month ago they’re going to be introducing them and have alot of their players wearing them! The stick he’s got for it is unbelievable!

I agree regarding everything else to do with bendtner, he certainly is low in self belief at the moment, and this must be the make or break season for him. I do worry about the way the crowd gets on his back, some of it is absolutely ridiculous. He has been very off form recently, as has the whole team, but the jeers he gets when someone tried to pass to him and simply misplaces the pass no fault of bendtner whatsoever are incredible. It does worry me he’ll never be allowed to get his belief back at the emirates.

  592. Pedro says:

    Well said Wrighty!

  593. JonJon says:

    how very true pedro

    mis management

thats one of my favorite sayings at the minute

you can use it for everything

    eg.

playing alex song is a case of mis management.

    See?? it works fine!!!

  594. bergkamp says:

if diaby wasnt injured pre season last season then matt flamini probably would have been sold to birmingham anyway

  595. Wrighty7 says:

    Thats mixed up emotions Raif!!!

  596. JonJon says:

dont forget the pink bibs bergkamp,

its the arsenal theory on making us look like fighters and warriors

  597. bergkamp says:

see but this is down to edelman, hence why he is on the dole, dont listen to that leaving the post for a new challenge bollocks,he tried to do it all on the cheap,if he offered matt 50 a week matt would have chewed his hands off

  598. JonJon says:

flamini didnt want to go to birmingham, he knew he was better than that and looks like he was right

  599. Pedro says:

A… if you don’t want to wear the boots… you don’t wear them.

Ronaldinho doesn’t rock pink boots… or any coloured boots. You put yourself up for them… Nike wouldn’t make a player wear something they were uncomfortable with.

Arshavin, Ronaldo and Ribery probably have more right to wear them than Nik… he’s kind of the odd one out with the the pink boots.

  600. Wrighty7 says:

    Bergkamp,

I’ll be honest, I’m always wearing pink mate. I’ve even got pink trainers ( I know!) but for some reason I can’t get my head round pink boots!

Even though I wear white ones!

  601. raif says:

    Wrighty7

    to mixed up man..

  602. Pedro says:

I’m the same Wrighty… I’ve got nothing against pink… but on the pitch… it’s taking the piss.

  603. bergkamp says:

Nik bendtner needs to stick to god centre forward play, dont get possesed by the left wing right wing demon that has possesed big ade or robin, just use his size an his elbows an dont try be a great footballer, that will get him far

  604. Keyser says:

Pedro – It works both ways, I’m guessing thats before the start of his last season or early into it ?!

If you’re not playing or haven’t shown the promise then it’s not just up to your employers to suddenly show faith in you and if they do but you choose to go with the better deal at another club I don’t really think you can blame them either. It’s not as clear cut as saying Arsenal completely fucked up.

  605. JonJon says:

ribery does wear them doesnt he???

    but i can understand that

now they are dazzling pink kinky boots

with bendter it just doesnt have the same ring to it

  606. bergkamp says:

wrighty 7,pink bibs as well last night,i wouldnt mind a 30 goal a season striker in pink boots, but its like jason lee,no goals an u have a pineapple on your head, surely you wuldnt wanna attract too much attention to yourself if it aint the best of times

  607. JonJon says:

    jason lee.
    lol

    what a wally

  608. Geoff says:

Paul no offence taken mate, I got the wrong end of the stick, you may of seen me last night then, I sit at the front next to the steps, I was the one being told to sit down by the steward and I refused, I was also talked to about my bad language and had a go at someone who had a go at my cousin for saying he didn’t like an Arsenal player, not a great night.

I did get pissed off though as when Wenger tells us that we need to make more noise we can sing and stand, 3 weeks on Wenger stops moaning and the stewards start off again, then I went to the bar and it’s closed off for ECL people so I barged through and refused to move.

    I expect a letter!

  609. Wrighty7 says:

“Wrighty 7…. I believe that Nikki is wearing pink boots in aid of a children’s charity, if this is the case then surely we are going slightly overboard with all the criticism?”

    A comment on my blog………

  610. bergkamp says:

im down with the pink, pink if great especially after puttin the reds in with the whites ,but those are real kinky boots for sexy footballers like kaka ronaldinho alex song an frank ribery ,not for mr BENDTner

  611. A says:

Pedro you sign a contract and you’ve got to use the equipment that they give you, under the terms of the contract. It isn’t a player’s choice, and he probably doesn’t care enough to kick up a fuss about it. For him to get stick for it is the most stupid thing i’ve ever heard, idiots like the sky sports pundits and tabloid writers etc, though we all know they don’t have an iota of intellect between them.

  612. Pedro says:

Keyser, if playing out of position in a defence that kept the most clean sheets in a row, ever… is not showing promise… then what is?

What promise has Song shown? How about Eboue…? They are all on long term contracts… Are you telling me Flamini wasn’t as good as those two?

  613. JonJon says:

if the chavs get beat tonight they face a tough last game to qualify,

what a story that would be, come on bordeux, do em over and injure half their players for us

  614. bergkamp says:

nah not according to the pink panther advertising campaign, them boots are £120 a pair in nike town, cesc has a charity thing goin on,you design them an he will wear them then they will be auctioned off,but nik isnt exactly the man who is gonna earn for your charity if your nike?

  615. Geoff says:

Pedro Pink and red don’t contrast, they clash, bad piece of design and as you know, that’s what I do. Orange and red don’t work either, that’s why I struggled with John Hartson, he clashed, Parlour was more blond though so he worked out well.

  616. bergkamp says:

jason lee wouldnt be seen dead in pink boots

  617. JonJon says:

the boots are not for charity, there 120squids from ann summers!!!

  618. bergkamp says:

john hartson was stuck in two minds, ginger an gladly goin bald, but young and wantin hair,he done the hair transplant adds on the sun back page an still had less hair than george daws

  619. PAUL says:

Geoff whenever one of us cant make it we treat a friend who would not normally have a chance to go,it would be nice if we could get the atmosphere going sometimes so that our friends could really enjoy the whole experience

  620. Keyser says:

Pedro – Eboue played on the other side of that defence and until we know exactly what Flamini was offered in comparison to what Milan were or what Song and Eboue are earning we don’t know anything for sure do we ? Or are we doing anything more than guessing ?!

Like his lawyer said in the letter Flamini was bought as a midfielder, he got his chance at the expense of a veteran midfielder and still moved on.

  621. bergkamp says:

    120 quid from soho

  622. JonJon says:

    lmao geoff

do you think song should be the name off a colour?? cos i reckon song clashes with red and white clash too

  623. Pedro says:

A… they pick there own stuff.

Nik B is not a big enough player to merit that sort of treatment. I had a mate who used to play for Arsenal and the nike rep would come round and show them the latest gear and they’d pick.

You can’t honestly think that Nike held a marketing meeting and said,

‘Ok… we need world class players in these pink boots… right, Ribery, Ronaldo… Arshavin… oh, and definitely Nik B of Arsenal.’

Say what you want about pundits… but they’ve played the game… and they are speaking from and ex player perspective.

I play football and if a player turned up in pink boots we’d smash him and he’d get ripped. He made a rod for his own back wearing those boots.

    ‘All the gear, no idea.’

  624. bergkamp says:

flamini was a first team regular playin uefa cup football before he joined arsenal, his story is different from song no shoes,he has tv ariel and shoes now,why would he leave?

  625. Pedro says:

Keyser, what do you do for a living?

How do you make decisions when you don’t have all the info? It must be tough for you?

  626. JonJon says:

the pink boots come with laces, polish, extra removable studs and lipstick

  627. bergkamp says:

arsenal should charge more for tickets an put a bottle of vodka on every seat, thats the only way to get the atmosphere goin

  628. Wrighty7 says:

    Pedro,

You are right there mate, a player could get pulled apart for wearing boots like that.

    Unless they are special……….

  629. Pedro says:

… and a free box of sanitary towels

  630. bergkamp says:

the pink boots come with fishnets and one micheal jackson glove, ade borrowed the glove,an songs girlfriend wears the fishnets on her head, nik aint happy about the glove

  631. A says:

Pedro the higher profile players don’t get that choice, except for the likes of ronaldo who have their own line. Bendtner is like the Rooney of Denmark, and very high profile in Scandinavia as a whole, Arshavin is the highest profile Russian which is obviously a massive market, and Ribery is one of the best players in the world. I’d imagine there will be an english player wearing them pretty soon for the english market. If they kicked up a massive fuss something could probably be done, but why, they’re just boots, and shouldn’t attract the ridiculous idiocy in attacking someone because of them

  632. bergkamp says:

imagine dennis bergkamp wearing pink boots?? or PV4?? gloves are bad enough, what next pink gloves?

  633. Keyser says:

Pedro – Heh, about as tough as dealing with bits and peices of hearsay and trying to dervie what you can from it, what can I say my dad was a solicitor it just comes naturally.

  634. PAUL says:

bergkamp i agree why do you think that is? We dont have any songs anymore.I get really bored with stand up if you hate tottenham,as its hard to hate those who have nothing in life

  635. bergkamp says:

i dont believe they could make a player wear pink boots,if arsene wenger said no what could nike say?? some managers dont allow certain players to wear colourful boots because they become distracted by stupidity

  636. Pedro says:

    Keyser… hearsay?

Quotes from Flamini… and quotes from his representative are classed as hearsay?

You can piece together a pretty accurate story from info like that… you don’t need to have Flamini’s diary to understand the factors involved in him leaving.

Why stay loyal to a club who showed you no loyalty the year before?

  637. JonJon says:

    A

and what lovely boots they are too.

  638. Geoff says:

    JonJon red and white contrast!

  639. bergkamp says:

stand up if you hate tottenham an weve got cesc fabregas, thats great,so cesc got dennis’s old song an spurs get half our attention, its weird, arsenal should allow me to take a megaphone to the games,il sing an abbuse alex song an tell denilson to fucking defend

  640. JonJon says:

what about pink hairbands for the likes of tevez

  641. Rob From Aus says:

Fuck~ I reakon we try and sign Gourcuff, he is tearing chelsea apart!

  642. bergkamp says:

Niks boots are nice if your playing for a gaybar team in the pub league, fact is a fact

  643. Pedro says:

Anything to take the attention away from his face is a good thing JonJon…

  644. A says:

I’m sure bergkamp noone could be made to do anything against their wishes, but they’re paid alot of money to do it and it’s only boots, some people wouldn’t care! If I was offered money to wear pink boots I certainly wouldn’t think twice!

Has the drogba inter talk been discussed here?? Stinks of the way they got hold of Hleb last year, let’s hope it creates problems in the chelsea camp before sunday!

  645. Pedro says:

Rob, I read we were interested in the summer… part of the Ade deal.

  646. JonJon says:

    isnt juves away kit pink???

im watching the chav game, borduex have got pink numbers!!!!

    its everywhere

  647. A says:

gourcuff is amazing, i was hoping when we loaned milan senderos it could be something to do with getting first option on him in the summer, but someone told me it’s pretty much a done deal that bordeaux will make it permanent when the loan finishes

  648. JonJon says:

    A

i disagree, we are being made to watch song against our wishes

  649. Rob From Aus says:

    Pedro,

you think anymore will eventuate? He reminds me of Ronaldo so much.

  650. Keyser says:

Pedro – Pretty accurate ? Come on, after spending 3 years at a club who show you no loyalty and then complaining through the aid of your lawyer then actually getting to play where you want to and the club taking a big risk by not only giving you a place above a seasoned veteran aswell as seemingly alienating another promising youngster,

Didn’t he get any loyalty ? It works both ways, you can argue both sides and thats my point.

  651. bergkamp says:

A thats how everyone gets hold of their players, theres a correct way to do things and the wrong way to do things, and the wrong way is the correct way,im sure if nasri handed in a transfer request his value would have dropped too

  652. Wrighty7 says:

There is nothing wrong with pink but I draw the line at pink boots.

It just seems that Nike, Adidas, Reebok are just trying to out do each other with the most outreagous boots in the world!

Soon there will be Rainbow coloured boots!

  653. Rob From Aus says:

    Oh boy, Keyser

You aint whinging in here again are u mate?

  654. JonJon says:

keyser, the club messed him about for all the seasons he was with us, yet he didnt kick up a stink and leave like diarra, he played his arse off and earned his contract with milan, he was very professional about it all.

i hold no grudges, our loss is milans gain

  655. bergkamp says:

Nik BENDTner would wear rainbow boots, but only if it includes gaybar pink in the colour scheme

  656. Pedro says:

Keyser, we played him because we had no other options… he excelled and made himself undroppable.

As no contract was offered to him… he screwed us. Whether he should have been allowed to is debatable… but not offering a player a contract when the best option is Birmingham is harsh (Especially when Song, Eboue and Diaby all got new contracts that year)… then expecting them to sign a new contract when Milan come knocking is a bit ambitious.

Rob, we’ve been linked with him for years… so it wouldn’t surprise me. He is the right age and quality…

  657. Wrighty7 says:

    Anyway Grovers,

I’m offschools! Have a great evening. Take it easy!

  658. A says:

bergkamp not everyone taps up players. We are one of the few clubs left in the world who still have some respectability and ethical approach to the way we do things and I’m damn proud of that. Adriano for Drogba would actually be a pretty good deal for chelsea in my opinion, Adriano would be awesome in the premiership.

Thierry has scored for barca. Barca this season average a goal every 25 minutes messi has been on the pitch, absolutely incredible stat that! Messi is another level

  659. PAUL says:

    Song is a Gangsta Pimp

  660. Pedro says:

    Laters Wrighty!

A… some would argue that tapping up children, hiding them in the mountains for 4 months and signing them at 16 is unethical (Merida).

  661. bergkamp says:

there was contracts offered to flamini but he kept sayin he wouldnt negotiate as he was focused on football,if we was losing at some point we would have dropped him,but the rule is you dont change a winning side, the teams form an bein in the title race played into flaminis hands, see but milan wont gain because they believe matt flamini is technical when truly cesc made him look comfortable on the ball by bein ever available

  662. Rob From Aus says:

    Yo Wrighty7,

That link u posted, if it does have some kind of truth in it, and we do sell the fucker, who will we buy to replace him? and how much would we get 4 Gallas?

  663. Keyser says:

Pedro – He continually said he’d wait until the end of the year, he said that at almost every oppurtunity and said he was concentrating on his football, if he’d said I’m going to wait until the end of the year and see what offers I get or the club said this is the best we can give you and he liked Milans better, good luck to him I hold no grudges but you can’t place all the blame on the club either.

  664. bergkamp says:

thats ok,be proud of that, but thats why we pay over the odds, were too nice to the players that want to leave, thats our real problem A

  665. Keyser says:

Rob from Aus – Whinging ? Yeah I’d thought i’d join in with everyone else.

  666. bergkamp says:

when matt flamini was injured towards the end of the season arsene gave him a couple weeks off an he went off to milan an signed,he was a milan player before our season ended

  667. bergkamp says:

in the last year of matts milan contract he will bust his guts again for a contract from the highest bidder

  668. bergkamp says:

is that youtube Myth Cana even playin?

  669. JonJon says:

i dont think he’ll last his contract at milan, they’ll sell him on before then

  670. Geoff says:

What he hides children in mountains for months and we signed him? Merida must be a paedo then, dirty bastard.

  671. bergkamp says:

JonJon,he dont have to leave even if they want to sell him!

  672. Pedro says:

Off point Keyser… he showed enough promise to merit a contract, and we didn’t offer him one.

    So we fucked up.

Things like that don’t happen to the mancs do they?

  673. Pedro says:

    Mountains Geoff, not cupboard!

  674. JonJon says:

    Wheres A?

that gourcuff is talented aint he?

  675. Pedro says:

Maybe the new CEO will keep an eye on things like that.

  676. bergkamp says:

we offered matt flamini a contract many times but considering we tried to sell him to brum for a million quid less than a year earlier wat did we expect,?? it wasnt arsene,it was edelman fucking about tryin to get the cheapest deal possible, all that im concentratin on football, what that really means is put more zero’s on that deal

  677. A says:

Before the start of the season most fans wanted rid of him, said he was crap etc, which is pretty much what he had been most of the time, and he was tantrumming refusing to play at full back etc. If someone had said before the start of last season flamini was going to leave on a free next summer noone would really have cared at all. I don’t have a problem with him though and the way it happened, fair dos to him if he felt like the club hadn’t kept faith with him before that

  678. JonJon says:

he would of stayed if we’d of given him the captaincy or a double your money contract

  679. Keyser says:

Pedro – In his last season, of course we did, or at worse he said he’d discuss it at the end of the season and from what he was saying, it seemed like he would stay, only the cynical thought he was running down his contract to get the best deal possible, but that’s exactly what happened.

  680. A says:

yeah jonjon, he’s absolutely awesome! I’ve been impressed with him before this but he’s having the game of his life! Absolutely tearing them apart and Bordeaux are really getting at Chelsea aren’t they! it’s promising for sunday!

  681. JonJon says:

    i liked flamini,

he should of kept his place at LB for the final of the CL, he helped get us there, instead cole was thrown in and he wasnt even fit,

id of been fucked off too

  682. bergkamp says:

lol these footballing water cariers like flamini should be greatful if the get 10k a week

  683. Keyser says:

Pedro – Dein was supposed to be the go between, hopefully now the CEO can deal with all that instead of Wenger and Friar ?!

  684. JonJon says:

they arent handling that gourcuff at all, hes all over the place, wheres he from A?

  685. bergkamp says:

matt flamini suprised them as much as he suprised us,the only person he didnt suprise was himself,he was playin for a big money contract elsewehere, thats my opinion

  686. bergkamp says:

    gourcoff is a milan player,french

  687. A says:

he’s french jonjon, on loan from milan.
Let’s hope Nasri can play the same role come sunday!

  688. Paulinho says:

Gourcuff eh? The guy I mentioned earlier on today.

Barca are taking the piss out of Sporting. Just shows you what can be achieved with players on the same intelligence wavelengths.

  689. JonJon says:

    exactly bergkamp,

he didnt go to birmingham because he knew he was better, but because we’d messed him about for so long, he decided to do it to us. what can you say

    mis management

if we’d off given him a new contract the season bfore, handed him the armband and thrown in a pair of manlove boots with accessories he would of stayed

  690. bergkamp says:

still waiting for cana to touch the ball or make a tackle

  691. JonJon says:

    how old is he?

  692. bergkamp says:

JonJon we pulled the plug on the brum deal coz diaby got injured, thats how matt got into the team

  693. JonJon says:

is cana playing in defnce bergkamp??

    hes shit there,

  694. bergkamp says:

if we gave matt flamini a toni & guy voucher and some pink boots he would have signed for life

  695. Pedro says:

Exactly Keyser… I don’t think Dein was as marvellous as everyone made out.

A proper CEO could do wonders.

  696. bergkamp says:

he dont seem to be in the midfield,i just think he is a myth,if they didnt link him to us most of us would never have heard of cana, seems to be playin in defence but i think its a wing back 3 centre backs formation JonJon

  697. Pedro says:

Has anyone ever clicked a sponsored link?

  698. JonJon says:

dien was good because he was an arsenal fan,

if you look at his past business records hes not that astute!!

he brankrupkted at least one of his businesses before he bought into his shares in the club, which werent worth an awful lot then

his option to sell to the sneaky rusian wasnt the best move either

he tried to get back in through the back door and it backfired bigtime

this new guy is supposed to be the mutts nuts in the law field,

stuff like contracts and the clubs property venture will be second nature to him.

with him coming from the mls too, i think he’ll make arsenal into the global name the mancs are. if we can corner the american market, we’ll be the biggest brand in world football.

  699. Rob From Aus says:

    I got a good deal,

Senderos + Cash (Or Gallas) For Gourcuff?!

  700. Rob From Aus says:

is that wat the american bloke is now? The new CEO?

  701. JonJon says:

what about senderos song eboue+ cash for gourcuff???

chelsea havent even had a shot yet, borduex was all over them the 1st half hour, it evened itself out abit towards the end but borduex have em rattled.

  702. Rob From Aus says:

    Oh OH OH,

Song can be included in that deal as a towel boy or something, not a player cause that would ruin the deal i reakon.

  703. JonJon says:

    yes rob,

hes some hotshot lawyer who graduated at oxford oor cambridge, not sure which one, moved to the LA and helped develop the mls into what it is now, some say he helped in the deal to get becks to the states.

and i dont care what people say about the mls, if they can afford to pay becks all that cash, they must be doing something right over there

  704. Rob From Aus says:

so would that mean he could generate funds for excellent players? So AW cant use the pissy excuse of “i have no cash?”

  705. avenell says:

Jon Jon everyone who makes money goes bankcrupt.. Richard Branson done it and took the VAT man for a few squidlies.. :)

Dein should have done Flamini’s contract though..

  706. JonJon says:

yes, to make us a big brand he would have to bring in big names, he’ll know the value of shirt sales etc… from working in football before. his appointment is in jan, coincidently the transfer window starts then!!!!!!

    MMMMMMMMMM………. interesting

the only way is up my friend

  707. JonJon says:

Richard branson had the business mind to mean to go bankrupt. he then went on to own his own airline and music business

DD did it out of stupidity, abit like the sale of shares to the sneaky ruski lol

and now hes got fuck all……..?????? apart from about 75mil………………………..
    lol

  708. avenell says:

I’m going to have a look at the myth that is Cana for half hour!

  709. bini says:

hi all,,, is any one watching the barcelon vs lisbon game.. in the last two mins 3 goals… amazing game I am not surprise if it finish 6-4

  710. bini says:

veloso spectural free kick – goal

  711. Geoff says:

    What channel bini?

  712. bini says:

geof here is the link http://www.justin.tv/honducarlos2
there has been one more goal – Lisbon keeper got Red card & barcelona scored penalty (score 5-2)

  713. bini says:

has any one got a link for liverpool game??/

  714. Geoff says:

Cheers bini, the Liverpool game is on Sky, boring though like the chavs game.

  715. raif says:

so whats Everyones thoughts on Our New CEO.

does anyone know anything about South African?

  716. raif says:

about the South African? i mean

  717. suicidalsam says:

Alou Diarra might be the player that could solve our DM problem. We were linked to him couple of years ago. I think he can be a good signing. He can play both DM and CH positions . doesn’t shy away from strong challenges, great positional awareness.

I can’t wait for the chelsea match. lets see if the team gets pumped up for a big derby match.

  718. avenell says:

    Fat Frank’s got a red un.. :)

  719. choy says:

how is cana doing and veloso?

  720. bini says:

choy.. veloso scored a very good free kick.. apart that his team got destroyed… 5-2

  721. bergkamp says:

iv been to south africa, the southern peninsular, them damn baboons

  722. David says:

Bearduax are whipping the mess out of chelsea

  723. Geoff says:

Raif he came to England when he was 4, so he English really, he worked in America for 15 years and went to Oxford. That’s it really.

  724. choy says:

thanks bini.. so is he any good and what about the beast that is cana?

  725. bini says:

it would be funny if chelsea lose/draw against CFR and Bordeaux wins against Roma.. although I preffer al the english club to go through

  726. raif says:

    Geoff

yeah i was just reading his wiki page and trying to find anything else on the guy. same as what u said in a nut shell really.

  727. bergkamp says:

is he south african?? them people are the worst africans, you cant tell if they are jokin or planning to kill you,a meeting between him and wenger will be about as fun as watching paint dry

  728. bini says:

Cana I saw the last 10 mins game of liverpool & didnt see much of cana.. I am not even sure if he was in….

  729. bergkamp says:

bini are you mad,we can stuff any of these euro teams, its the english ties that will be the hardest for us

  730. bergkamp says:

Cana played at centre back,he went down like eboue at one point after gerrard clipped his shins, didnt say a word then tried to ruff up benayoun an even got outmuscled by him

  731. bini says:

bergkamp… u right, but imagine get them in the final & bit them.. victory will be sweeter than to win over an european team…

  732. bergkamp says:

is jack wilshere really just an extra tall midget or just a small bloke?

  733. bergkamp says:

bini but id rather not play any of them in a final, give me another nations top guns, imagine if chelsea beat us in a euro final with a deflected frank lampard hatrick or two drogba offside goals

  734. choy says:

    bergkamp.. he’s just 16!

  735. bergkamp says:

some 16 year olds are 6ft3 an have done more puberty than theo,so whats that gotta do with it choy

  736. bergkamp says:

joe cole is definantly a tall midget, you can tell because his head weight still overbalances his body like a baby or like alex songs afro,im just deciding about jack still

  737. bini says:

bergkamp …. to me it wont matter if we get to the final & lose.. it will be painfull . I still remember the final against Barcelona…

  738. JonJon says:

iv been watching cana this season and hes played mostly at CB and hes been shit,

veloso on the other hand has been doing stuff like that all season

  739. bini says:

I hope Jack he doesnt develop any more as he might lose his centre of gravity .. which makes him the best dribbler in the world.. am I talking out of my back side… it is just a thought..,

  740. bergkamp says:

bini,i went to the champions league final,i was glad i didnt have to look at a bunch of chavs on the journey home, losing to chelsea or man utd or liverpool is 3 times worse than losin to barca

  741. bergkamp says:

bini i dont think he will get a lot taller, probably not even an inch,he is filling out early, but i wish he was 6ft2 like kaka with those skills

  742. bergkamp says:

Cana is a myth, you aint gotta be a hard tackler to play that role in dm,you gotta be a reader of the game!

  743. bini says:

bergkamp .. he looks too fragile… but seen him against Wigan nothing fase him & that calmness on the ball is really frightening for his age.. he will get stronger & technically more adapt.. I believe within next 5 year he will best player in the world..

  744. bergkamp says:

best player in the world as long as he dont get his head turned by the bright lights and the big money, well i dunno bout best in the world, maybe, who knows

  745. bergkamp says:

i dunno about fragile,he smashed salgado in a 50/50 an had a known hardman thining wtf had hit him

  746. JonJon says:

cana is a monster because of his agressive streak but it only works when hes in the midfield, hes a dirty bastard but hes never been sent off so he is cunning, iv said before id have him for the right price, which 5mil would be reasonable, and id play him in the away games against stoke and hull and any other team who want to kick us.

id rather have de rossi or veloso though,

  747. Paulinho says:

Why do left footers seem to have the monopoly on that sort of hobbit physique? You never get any right footed jinky playmakers with stumpy legs.

  748. JonJon says:

you never know with players like jack what will happen, they either go on to become great or they have a couple of good seasons and fizzle out.

i wouldnt worry to much about size either, arguably one of the worlds best players was a hobbit and it didnt stop him, maradona???

  749. choy says:

bergkamp.. men grow till age 21 i think .. so i’m sure that he’ll grow a bit taller!!

  750. avenell says:

And as Cloughie said.. ‘If God had wanted us to play football in the air, he’s have put grass in the sky’

  751. bergkamp says:

nah cana is hard in a fast league of less agression,in the prem he would get eaten, in france he is all alone, most midfielders are all about techniqe, against stoke he would dissapear, theres only room for 1 bull in a pen,an i dont think he could get away with that robbie savage business

  752. bergkamp says:

jack reminds me of a little juninho,i hope wenger dont ban him from shooting

  753. bini says:

JonJon the fact that he is very intelligent & he is developing under the watchfull eye of wenger… I believe & hope that he wont fade away….

  754. JonJon says:

who’d win in a fight? barton or cana

  755. bergkamp says:

choy,if men grow til 21 then i think london will be land of the giants, he aint gonna get taller,he has stopped,or he will be deformed from weight training before he has even stopped growin

  756. bergkamp says:

    barton would kill Cana

  757. A says:

John Terry – absolutely attrocious defending cost his team the 3 points, again! He even tried to give them the win losing the ball on the edge of the area in injury time! I can see us scoring from a Terry fuck up on sunday, maybe from a set piece or corner

  758. JonJon says:

i agree bini, jacks going to be great, you can see it when he plays, hes the best thing to come out of the academy for a long while, and the fact he is 16 just makes it better, by the time hes 20 he’ll be an international

  759. JonJon says:

who would win in a fight between, lehmann parlour adams keown vieira petit and ian wright vs the rest of the premier league.

  760. bergkamp says:

terry will put in his best performance of the year on sunday, against us,just like that manure jock fletcher does twice a year

  761. bergkamp says:

lehmann & keown would win, viera and the rest could stay on the bench

  762. JonJon says:

chelsea was poor, i hope they play like that against us,

  763. bergkamp says:

robin owes us a match winning performance on sunday,i want him to score a hat trick of freekicks and then a right footed super volley just for good measure

  764. JonJon says:

thats the difference though, if you compare wengers teams before, they could all rumble and they loved it, now we just a bunch of girls who wear ann summers boots and soho bibs

  765. JonJon says:

or even better, a goal straight in from a corner, from both sides

  766. A says:

would’ve expected scolari’s english to have come on better than it has, team talks must be interesting. Terry is currently making at least one massive mistake a game, if we’re clinical we’re guaranteed a goal from it! soooooo overrated. Lampard off too was funny, would be amazing if chelsea didn’t qualify for the knockout

  767. bergkamp says:

soho bibs ,i bet jack spills dinner down his soho bib,nik would not be impressed

  768. bergkamp says:

terry was crap until mourinho started playing 10 men behind the ball,i remember freddie carried him on his back half the length of the cardiff pitch an scored, brave but shyt, the real JT is coming back now that chelsea attack more

  769. choy says:

bergkamp.. wenger doesn’t let arsenal players weight train till 22 or so!!

  770. avenell says:

    Is that after 10 oClock?….

  771. JonJon says:

    lmao

  772. A says:

nice free kick from veluso, though the keeper should save it 99 times out of 100, appalling from valdes!

If diaby is out at the weekend i really hope we stick vp on the flank with bendtner up top by himself than denilson on the wing song in central midfield!

  773. suicidalsam says:

I don’t think height really matters. its the skill that the player has that really counts. spuds winger lennon is the smallest player in the prem and still he does quiet well on the right flank.

@ jonjon barton should win as he has lot of experience.

  774. JonJon says:

    A.

    are you drunk mate???

  775. A says:

souness really is the most stupid pundit there is, though he’s got a lot of competition, garth crookes, andy gray, redknapp, and burley push him very close! Doesn’t rate totti because he doesn’t produce enough lol. Plays in a rooney type roll and amongst top scorers in serie a every year, what an idiot

  776. bini says:

    a Says,
i think Niki should come on as a sub… he will get bullied easily & will be kept quite… Vela should start with VP upfront & hopefully we will have better choices on the flank than yesterday

  777. A says:

ha nope jonjon, why you ask?

  778. bergkamp says:

A is definantly drunk, play vp on the bench an get ade an bendtner or vela upfront

  779. bini says:

Vala will be too agile for the Chavs.. & hard to control..

  780. freduardo says:

Cana was poor enough tonight. Lpool very lucky to get the win though. v lucky indeed, were really hanging on. Ben Arfa looks a bit special

  781. bini says:

Does any one knows when is the Edu playing for the reserve.. i wouldnt mind going up there to watch him

  782. bergkamp says:

robin has not done nothing since ade gave him asists for nearly all his goals

  783. A says:

i’m sure we’ll play just one up front, vela won’t start. So it’ll either be vp up top and denilson song cesc nasri ramsey or bendtner up top with vp in midfield. I hope the latter!

  784. avenell says:

A.. Don’t forget the Luton Ropper!!

  785. JonJon says:

bendtner cant play up top on his jack!!! and RVP cant play wing

and did you include song in there???

  786. bergkamp says:

the reserves play where?? is it orients ground? he is playin a behind closed doors friendly next week bini

  787. avenell says:

    Barnets Bergkamp.. Underhill…

  788. bergkamp says:

we need to get ade back up top,or play bendtner & vela together, van doesnt work well with anyone but ade, bendtner needs more support than van offers, vela is too young an inexperienced in our team to play loan, robin drops too deep an we will end up with a 6 man midfield if he plays lone striker

  789. A says:

i’m saying what i think the team will be, not what i want it to be! we’ll definitely play one up top, and vela definitely won’t start. I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t denilson and song holding with vp and nasri out wide, bend up top by himself. Vela is still very raw and be too much of a risk, Ramsey isn’t up to pace yet, and there isn’t anyone else.

Oh actually i forgot, ade might be back, in which case he’d be up top by himself

  790. bergkamp says:

is it up barnet,i remember it used to be in the highbury stadium an half the east stand was full of jamaicans (kevin campbells family) ,they used to go crazy

  791. A says:

nice strike from veluso but the keeper should never be beaten on his side unless it’s a thunderbolt, vp like against sunderland or elano, really crap positioning from valdes

  792. bergkamp says:

we should just play our own game 442,were meant to have the no fear philosophy but were always the team which changes for the big games

  793. JonJon says:

sagna nasri and ade should be back

    almunia
    sagna
    JD
    gallas
    clichy

    nasri
    cesc
    denilson
    vela

    ade
    pink furry slippers

    4 4 fucking 2 lol

  794. avenell says:

I only ever went to one reserves game when TA6 come out of Chelsmsford nick!

  795. A says:

if we had some momentum we might play 4-4-2 but when was the last time we played 4-4-2 away from home in a big game?! i’m just sure it’ll never happen, especially with our current predicament etc

  796. raif says:

    bini

i heard some were that his going to play against Pompy on the 16th of Dec.

don’t quote me on it tho

  797. A says:

i’d like that team jonjon, but i really can’t see it happening, song will play!!

  798. bergkamp says:

JonJon thats the team we want, but i want ade to wear black boots and pink wristbands an nik to wear pink boots an black wristbands, then terry wont know who is who when he gets slapped about the back of the skull

  799. JonJon says:

if we play with rvp up top it will be a 4 6 0

  800. bergkamp says:

i bet that was a proper night at the reserves,i think that was the day tone got out the clink as well

  801. JonJon says:

    bergkamp lmao.

  802. bini says:

Bergkam & raif thanks guys… on that note good nite all..

  803. A says:

souness actually speaks more sense than redknapp, who is just thick as shit!

  804. bergkamp says:

it will be a 4-6-0 when we have not got the ball then a 4-1-6 when we get it,robin being the 1

  805. bergkamp says:

4-1-5 unless almunia wants to make a late run

  806. raif says:

    Night bini

also if RvPis going to keep droping back as deep as he was last night then ill say drop him and play Vela and Nikki-b Upfront or Vela and ADE when his back.

  807. avenell says:

Bergkamp it was a Saturday afternoon there was 10,000 gooners watching a resreve game. They had to open the Clock End coz the East stand was full…

  808. bergkamp says:

rednapp isnt qualified to talk,he used to think liverpool were gonna win the league every year for the last 20 seasons an now he predicts on tv

  809. JonJon says:

or a 1 1 8 when we have the ball if the FB’s and gallas pushup. fuck it playground kick about, goalie when needed and i predict the score to be 19all

  810. A says:

i don’t see how anyone who’s seen both of them semi-regularly could ever consider ronaldo in the same league as messi, it’s ridiculous. But these idiots really don’t have a clue what they’re talking about

  811. bergkamp says:

theres legends an then there is legends,i think the day of the tony adams day footballing legends are gone, tony would have played with or without injections, he would have done anything, terry could be the last of that breeed

  812. raif says:

    bergkamp

it was 4-6-0 last night for most of the game with RvP playing defensive midfield. lol

  813. A says:

you calling terry a legend bergkamp?! the most overrated defender in the history of the world, trying hard doesn’t make you a legend! Especially when you cheat, foul, and even dive!

  814. JonJon says:

Redknapp talks too quick, which is a good thing really that means i dont have to understand the tripe that comes out of his gob

  815. bergkamp says:

the year tony was locked up i was a young boy, those were the days when the family enclosure was a standing zone in the east stand i think

  816. avenell says:

If Eduardo makes it.. He’s up there as a legend..

  817. bergkamp says:

A i wouldnt call him a legend like adams, but id say he has modeled his spirit on tony adams, the thing about guys like terry and adams, their partners (steve bould and carvalho) will never get the credit they deserve

  818. JonJon says:

    terrys a legend

    a middle-leg end

  819. bergkamp says:

ed is definantly a legend, thats what you call a soldier, eduardo made no fuss, there aint many players in the prem who could walk down any street in the uk without fear,i think cesc an eduardo maybe be two of maybe only 5 or 6 in the whole prem

  820. avenell says:

The schoolboys, Junior Gunners used to be that side Bergkamp.

  821. avenell says:

Bendtner could walk the streets of Brighton!

  822. bergkamp says:

i used to go over that side,it was easier coming from across blackstock road to get in there obviously ,the rest of the east stand was seated, i didnt qualify to the clock end till about 11 years ago,i used to pay £147 for my season ticket in the west stand lower, then when i got too old it was i think £511 pound in the clockend, those were the days

  823. bergkamp says:

hahahaha streets of brighton untill steve bruce hears he is down in that part of town

  824. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

thats just about bendtner’s level of footballer

  825. raif says:

    BOY BETTER KNOW

was you happy when Nikki-Big Balls scored? :)

  826. goonermichael says:

I’m sorry but I have to disagree about terry, The man is an absolute overrated chav cunt.

  827. London says:

    Paulinho

Maradonna was a right footed hobbit.

  828. raif says:

Terry is some what Overrated but he is a good defender. puts his body on the line aswell. i would rather have him in my back line then the likes of Gallas and Silvest. and the ever growing arsenal super star Alex Song,.

  829. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    no

  830. raif says:

    BBK

ur not much of a arsenal fan then are you mate lol

  831. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

i will tell u why raif

  832. JonJon says:

has anyone seen the reports that nikki pink slippers is going to join moscow in jan

  833. raif says:

    nope not me JonJ

  834. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

because he has been an absolute cunt in the previous games then decides to turn up off the bench i might add which is his best position

  835. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

where was he for the past couple of weeks then the prick takes his shirt off like hes some good player

  836. JonJon says:

michael laudrup is looking for a replacement for pavlychenkco, laudrup is bendnters idol and he is set to sign for them in jan possibly on loan to start with.

dont know if its true, probably not

  837. JonJon says:

    totally agree BBK,

i dont want to see his pink nipples as much as i dont want to see them pink boots,

  838. avenell says:

BBK and Bergkamp are the same blogger, that’s why your never together SUSSED!!!!

  839. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    lol jonjon

  840. Pedro says:

    Evening Grovers!

  841. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    lol avenell

  842. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    helloooooo pedro how r u m8

  843. raif says:

    have faith in him man.

he will come good. how long did it take for TH14 and DB10 to come good when they came to us. and robert pires for that matter?

they all had there critics. also dont forget they wasnt young and still learning there trad like Niiki B is now. so it will take a little longer for him then those players. his low on confidence. and last i checked its hard to do things right when ur low on confidence.

  844. raif says:

jesus i cant type for shite. :(

  845. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

raif please do not ever try to compare or even give a chance to him hes no good raif come on

  846. Pedro says:

Well said Raif… slagging a 20 year old off is a bit out of line.

He’ll be a big player for us… well, that is what I am hoping!

I’m good BBK… how are you?

  847. JonJon says:

time is what we dont have anymore raif,

we’ll be out of the top 4 before long. we need the players to come good now, not in 5 years time

  848. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

he will never ever emulate either of them

  849. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    im good pedro

  850. Pedro says:

You know who is going to be my next charity case… Randall.

I reckon he could be a bit tasty, despite never performing for the first team. I like his vision and his touch… he always makes space for himself. He is a little arrogant, but what 17 year old in the Arsenal team wouldn’t be?

  851. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    well said jonjon

  852. Pedro says:

JonJon… I would stake my laptop on us staying in the top 4.

  853. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    thats a big call pedro

  854. avenell says:

Not just any 20 yr old..
A 20 year old in pink coming out boots..

  855. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    lolllll avenell

  856. Pedro says:

    Top 4 or Randall?

  857. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    frimpong

  858. A says:

i’m with you on that pedro, it’ll never happen, we’re still far better than anyone else over a league season. Even if teams like villa and stoke now, and bolton in the past can bully us and beat us in individual games they aren’t good enough to beat the rest and therefore won’t seriously challenge us in terms of top 4

  859. JonJon says:

    Pedro,

would you still say that if we kept playing song??

and we shouldn’t be happy with just top 4 every season, we should be pushing for trophies and with this team i cant see it.

  860. A says:

though im not with you regarding randall. It isn’t just his arrogance, his attitude in general, he’s a prick, kicking out at people in reserve games, spends the whole time trying to look better than he is etc. He has ability but won’t ever make it at arsenal because of his attitude

  861. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

with wenger in charge no more trophys will come our way

  862. raif says:

    BBK. JonJ.

i hope im there the day Nikki-B proves you both wrong and all his critics.

they guy is getting Linched by his own fans while his about to come on, tell me does that help him in any way. NO. watch him score a winner against Chelsea and be a instant Hero. confidence is key to a players ability, even more so when there young.

agree we need succes now, as fans we demand it. im with u on that.

BUT to give our own player some serious stick and Disrespect before his even kicked a ball is wrong.

    and thanks Pedro mate

  863. JonJon says:

    villa want it more A

we dont have the fight, we are relying on players coming back from injury and players coming in during the jan transfer window,

no top 4 side should be in the position to strengthen during jan to save their season

  864. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Don’t just hate those arsey bastard scousers.

& speaking of karma, I can’t wait till the 20th anniversary game

  865. Pedro says:

JonJon… he ain’t the best… but if he stopped trying to be clever, he could do a job.

He is the only player we have in the team who will make a tactical foul… and he isn’t terrible at tracking players.

Passing further than 6 yards is where he struggles.

A, totally agree. Villa will have a shocking run… just like all the pretenders do. Plus… they’re not actually that good… MoN only needs a couple of injuries to shaft his whole game plan.

  866. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

he went missing big time in the past couple of league games raif we need him to step up now wenger has showed so much faith in him and still nothing

  867. avenell says:

See no Bergkamp no BBK is on!!

  868. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

but pedro hes so dumb he dont even know if he is making a tactical foul

  869. JonJon says:

raif i only use the blogs to dispespect the players, i wouldnt dream of doing it at a game i get behind them,

bendtner may be a good player in 5years time, but what im saying is we dont have 5years.

  870. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

avenell what sort of character is bergkamp

  871. Pedro says:

Raif, I’ve got good vibes regarding Nik.

A, I didn’t know about that… but RvP had issues when he first joined. Red cards and a bad reputation.

JonJon, Villa can want it all they want… they don’t have the quality. We’ll kick on at some point and pull away from the pack… we’ve had our bad run… now Wenger is going to paper over the cracks with a 6 game winning streak.

You just know it will happen… then he’ll cancel the winter purchases.

  872. raif says:

    avenell

are u saying BBK is Bergkamp Disguise?

  873. avenell says:

    BBK.. he’s Gay!!

  874. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    never raif

  875. Pedro says:

I’m way too addicted to this blogging malarkey… there is always someone on here now!

24hour arsenal chat is bad for your health!

  876. A says:

jonjon it’s irrelevant whether they want it more, they don’t have the ability! They can fight like bolton used to, and they can foul their way to stop the big boys playing against them, but they don’t have enough about them to beat the rest when it isn’t their cup final. Exactly like bolton they’ll do well but won’t get top four. As their results have shown this season, when they have to attack they can’t. Lost 2-1 home to boro game before they beat us, they aren’t that good!

Jonjon we aren’t relying on that at all, with our current team we could still beat anyone outside of the top 4 easy! we’ve had a horrible little period, and our confidence is shot but we’ve gotta just get going again get some self belief and we can beat anyone

  877. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    poor gay i mean guy

  878. JonJon says:

Villa had the quality when they beat us pedro.

we seen the same thing a few seasons ago when we just pipped the spunks to the line, with the help of food poisioning!!!

  879. avenell says:

Raif.. read back an hour… Michael and Latoya Mk2

  880. JonJon says:

pedro, it gets better after midnight, avenall becomes hugh heffner.

  881. avenell says:

Pedro it’s Le Grove after midnight XXX soon!!

  882. A says:

jonjon bendtner is a good player now, just inconsistent and lacking belief! he still has games where he’s fantastic, like against sheffield utd and bolton…. Granted he’s far from the finished product, which is why we have VP and Ade, and Eduardo coming back who are much more established and polished players. It isn’t like Bendtner is our main striker. We’re unlikely to sign extensively in january, and we shouldn’t need to. gotta be very optimistic to think we’ll win the league, but in any game against a good team we’ve shown we can match them, so have as good a chance as any of winning the champions league and/or fa cup. The reserves can do a job with the league cup too! I’d be happy with a cup treble!

  883. raif says:

    avenell

do i have to read back a hour.? thats kinda hard work looking back on all them comments lol..

  884. avenell says:

Not tonight JonJon.. Pedro will tell Rico!!!!

  885. Pedro says:

Oh really? Does that mean I can say cunt?

JonJon… so did Hull and Stoke, but they wont be there at the end of the season!

We’ll be in the top 4 and Wenger will make a couple of signings in Jan to make sure we all renew.

    I’m off… night all!

  886. avenell says:

Raif/ Pedro.. I read every comment every day.. ;)

  887. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    see ya pedro

  888. Pedro says:

I’m off Avenell… bust out the bunny girls to your hearts content!

  889. A says:

Jonjon villa have a system which is incredibly defensive, and efficient against teams who try and attack them, but don’t have the all round quality to break teams down when they can’t just defend and catch them on the break, which is why they’ve lost games like stoke and middlesbrough this season. They are no different from bolton in past seasons, good at being the underdog, but when they’re the favourite they don’t have the quality to win consistently. Players like barry and sidwell are good for scrapping but they’ll never be able to break down opposition who play defensively

  890. Pedro says:

Make sure you take it to a 1000 before you log off! ;-)

  891. JonJon says:

Id be happy with a single A, but i like your optimism mate,

why do you always pick on me A,1st yaya now niki pink furry slippers

what have i ever done to you lol

only jiking mate, i like your fiestyness, you do yourelf credit mate,

  892. raif says:

    avenell

i try to….. every day lol.

  893. JonJon says:

    nite pedro

  894. avenell says:

    See ya Pedro!!!!!

  895. raif says:

    night Pedro

may the power of Bendtner be with you

  896. Maciek says:

    Hi guys!
Just one fast question. How was Cana doing? Thanks, and nighty night!

  897. JonJon says:

    hi maciek

cana was crapper than a team full of songs

  898. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

shit gerrard pissed all over him

  899. avenell says:

Raif.. let us have the good news when your little one comes home mate!!

  900. raif says:

    avenell

oh yess. will do mate, ill be doing a Youtube video on it for sure aswell. as i normally do them but havent done any since i found out i was going to be a dad. :D

  901. A says:

i don’t mean to be feisty or pick, i just jump in when there’s something i disagree with, which seems to be pretty often!

Yeah I’d be happy with one of the fa cup or champions league, i don’t really count the league cup as silverware that the team’s won as it wouldn’t be the team, it’d be our youth/reserve team! Never know though, if chelsea keep struggling and go on a bad run after we hammer them with a nik hattrick on sunday, then we could get back up there only a few points behind at xmas, then eduardo and rosicky’s return, with vela and nasri settling in, and bendtner getting his self belief back prompt an unbeaten run rest of the season, especially after theo then returns in feb!

  902. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

cana was about as aggressive as benders boots

  903. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    nice fairy tale a

  904. JonJon says:

A, you are the optimistic of all optimists,

    i like it,

so if pink furry slippers can dazzle them with his manlove boots and leave terry and co with pink eye, we should romp home 6-0 i reckon.

    roll on sunday, lol

its much better to see things in a positive light,

  905. A says:

night pedro, bit late there! i agree about wenger making couple signings and we’ll walk top 4, will be like the ade theo january, but not forwards obviously

  906. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Hey Pedro I was just starting to get warmed up ;) oh well goodnight

  907. JonJon says:

then again if song playing we could lose 6-0.

iv heard of the invisible wall, but hes just an invisible wally

  908. A says:

6-0 win, bendtner hattrick, song brace, and denilson wondergoal, it could happen! Song actually looked pretty good at the end of last season for a little bit, who did he play centre back against when he set up a goal with a marauding run from the back?!

  909. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

and then you woke up a

  910. A says:

I’ve got a feeling song could have a good game on sunday, surprise everyone. I can see us controlling the midfield with Song and Denilson holding, and Cesc pulling the strings in front of them, with Nasri roaming about there as well

  911. JonJon says:

what about almunia double hatrick A??now , thats optimism

i just want us to go play our hearts out, at least if we lose we lose with dignity.

none of this villa city stoke fulham or hull bullshit,

  912. raif says:

ill be happy with a 2-1 win. Gallas and Nikki-B getting the goals.

how great would that bev :)

  913. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

song and denilson holding lolllllllllllllll the amount of space them two leave fatty will have a field day not to mention deco’s vision

  914. Maciek says:

Thanks guys. I heard Ben Arfa was really awesome today. It’s a shame Wenger didn’t make a bid for him. I would love to see him or Menez, or Angel di Maria, or even Palacios wearing and Arsenal shirt. We really are lacking width. Well, once more, good night.

  915. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

cana is about as good as veloso

  916. raif says:

    Maciek

we didnt get Ben Arfa Because we had already got Nasri

  917. JonJon says:

you know summat boys, im going to say 3-1 to us.

we’ll be 2-0 up at the break, chelsea will come at us all 2nd half and we’ll hit them on the break and get the third, then fatty will have a 30yarder deflect off song afro and go under almunia in the last seconds

  918. A says:

that’s a good shout raif. Chelsea have been struggling for a little while, they were crap today, crap at the weekend, beat west brom ok but they just collapsed defensively, lost to burnley in the league cup with a pretty full team, got hammered by roma. They’re far from unbeatable, and with terry as shit as he is at the moment we should definitely get chances. Just hope anelka doesn’t score too many against us. I really could see us scraping it, just like the Utd game

  919. JonJon says:

they only thing song and denilson will be holding is each others hands, theres no point defending from the midfield we should just attack

  920. A says:

yeah raif, i think there might even have been an agreement between us and marseille that they’d sell us nasri if we stepped back our interest and let them get in ben arfa as a replacement

  921. A says:

denilson was absolutely immense defensively against utd….

  922. JonJon says:

    its midnight, wheres hugh??????

  923. gnarleygeorge9 says:

raif if Little Nicky  scores against Chelski I will reverse the trend of Aussies leaving London, by actually getting on a plane & arriveing there to congratulate him

    …..If we win ofcourse

  924. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

denilson and song are so poor in that position please wake up wenger it is costing the team big time

  925. raif says:

    A

yeah mate i thought thats was the case aswell. there was somthing there as we was sniffing round both of them..

    gnarleygeorge9

ill have the Limo wiating for you ;)

  926. JonJon says:

A denilson was awesome against manu, but woeful in every game since. lets hope he picks his game up sunday

  927. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

lets hope denilson and song along with bender fcuk off in jan i would be so happy if that happend

  928. A says:

i wouldn’t say he’s been woeful since at all but it’s all about opinions! He was comfortably our best player against villa imo, and did ok yesterday though obviously out of position etc doesn’t suit him. granted he was pants against city but so were the team as a whole!

  929. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

apart from keep passing the ball back constantly to the other team yeah great

  930. avenell says:

Sorry lads it’s Rico’s midnight XXX..

Actually to get through the high security that I would imagine surrounds the players, can I say “I know Mr raif”

  933. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    denilson the fake brazilian

  934. A says:

djourou wasn’t against city?? He was relatively solid for most of the match, but gave away a penalty with a stupid and clumsy challenge!

  935. JonJon says:

    haha hugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  936. JonJon says:

except for the pen he was our best player

  937. gnarleygeorge9 says:

eeeeek!!! That adds a whole new meaning to “squeal like a pig” ;)

  938. jlp says:

    evening grovers
one last comment in def on NB
If anyone ever saw the big swede ZIatoon play when he was 20 and told me they thought he was better developed than NikB is now, well you’d be wrong
i watched Zlatan play many a game before he moved to Ajax and he was no better than Nik is now a little better dribbler but thats about it and that was featuring in the allsvenskan not against Englands finest
give this kid time he will come good and yea we must have patience and give time to develop his talent he will be huge
thats where AW keeps fucking up
he robs young players of a crucial developmental part of the process . learning from the mistakes without the scrutiny or disappointment of 60,000 fans staring at you
yea they get paid to be in that situation but regardless they still gotta earn their talent and pay their dues which means good comes with bad
and he doesn’t get that part of it. he just hangs them out there saying their ready when some of them aren’t or at least aren’t consistently then guess who he points the finger out when they fail

  939. A says:

yeah jonjon, but defenders are judged on their mistakes, the most important thing is consistency! He gave away a goal, which means it was a poor performance! Otherwise titus bramble would be playing for england!

  940. David says:

    wat?

  941. avenell says:

JonJon I noticed that Aaron Lennon was born in Chapletown!! Coincidence?

  942. A says:

jlp well said regards to bendtner but you can’t fault him for the way he develops kids, he’s the best at it in the world, and the sole reason the best kids in the world come to us over so many other clubs!

  943. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

no point in defending bender he’s shit and always will be time to move on for him he can take them gay boots wid him cunt

  944. gnarleygeorge9 says:

There appears to be a good vibe (karma to use the word of the mexican politician) about the chelski game. I’m going to run with that for the rest of the week.

    Cheers Grovers

  945. raif says:

    haha that video was funny.

well lads im off so ill leave you all for tonight,

MAY THE POWER OF BENDTNER BE WITH YOU ………….. ALWAYS!

  946. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

wenger should step down as manager and start up a school for youth players.let someone who wants to win some silverware not make us a laughing stock all the time

  947. JonJon says:

yes, thats true, i live near there

  951. A says:

night raif, im off too so nighty night grovers

  952. JonJon says:

    have to disagree A

other than the pen he was our best player, if denilson was doing his job in the midfield city wouldnt of been in that position in the first place, city was cutting through the mid all game, the defence was totally exposed, JD did well under the circumstances, then was moved out to FB,

  953. avenell says:

    Night/Morning lads..

Careful JonJon that’s Ripperland isn’t it?

What is it with the Spuds and Taxis Peter Shreeves drove a cab!! :)

  954. A says:

darren bent is much lower profile than bendtner, throughout europe. They got the top french player, top russian, and top young scandinavian player. Bent is shit and a nobody!

  955. JonJon says:

You know your leeds stuff mate, how???

  956. avenell says:

  962. jlp says:

A Agree with you but he pays alot better and i am sure that plays its part as well
he is great no denying it but there is developing youth and then there is relying on youth
and the latter is a gamble on success of player and club

  963. avenell says:

I’ve just heard a little rumour that the pink boots are supposed to raise caner awareness… No, the little pink ribbon arises cancer awareness, not fucking nike vapour Mk bumbandit II’s…

As for De Rossi, I wouldn’t write that off completely.. Roma aren’t exactly going great gun’s in Serie A and if they miss out on Europe we’ll have a chance of taking De Rossi or Aqualani off their hands… Might need an additional Italian to make him feel at home… I heard an Iaquinta rumour a while ago, but that’d mean Nikki B is getting fucked off… Nt that most of you would mind, I however would…

Gokhan Inler is a monster and someone earlier said he isn’t a top top player… neither was flam or hleb but they done the required job’s in our system of play…

I’m going to have to change my mind about ashley young though, because:

    A) Although he’s an arsenal supporter, after the whole O’ Neill and Barry thing he’d cost us about 20-25m.

    b) we have walcott (???) and wilshire.. I do not count on Rosicky because it’ll be what, 1 year a half before he returns. Who knows what he’ll come back like or how he’ll react to playing intensivly again after all the surgery, therapy and massage.. I’m gonna stick my neck out and say Rosicky is a write off….

  976. ReVELAtion says:

    they certainly are gay !

Pink boots what is he thinking ?
you know over here in Thailand they do not have an asemblance between blue being boy and pink being girl , so quite often young boy babys wear pink depending on the cheapness of the product .it would account for all the lady boys :)
(you didnt hear me say that !)
so what im saying is … you can have girls wearing blue boys wearing pink ..
pink is just a color here .. and i think 1 of there football league teams are pink shirts and white shorts .

maybe the danish are the same ….??

but remember there are 11 anonymous first team players who are gay in the EPL !

Gallas Will Shine Again For Arsenal – Cesc Fabregas

The Gunners’ new skipper has backed his controversial predecessor to deliver the goods again in this weekend’s testing trip to Stamford Bridge…

Fabregas said: “Whatever happened with William is in the past and we are looking forward. We started by winning and playing well so that’s the most important thing.”

  1000. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Arsenal skipper Cesc: Our target is to win trophy this season
    27.11.08 | tribalfootball.com
New Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas admits the target this season is to win a trophy.

Arsenal head to Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge 10 points off the pace after five defeats already this season.

And another this weekend would leave their title hopes all but over before Christmas and facing a real fight to get back into the top four.

However, Fabregas feels there is plenty of football left in Arsenal between now and May.

He said: “The aim is to lift a trophy. We are in the last 16 of the Champions League and are in contention in every competition.

“We have played only 14 league games this season and it is not over yet. Nothing is done and we will fight until the end.

“Our target is to go there and win, because we could get some points back.

“The other teams at the top have some difficult games as well, so we will see.”

Arsenal finally broke down Kiev when a quick long ball upfield from Fabregas picked out Bendtner, who produced a fine finish with only three minutes left.

Fabregas accepts it can sometimes be difficult for Arsenal to play their way through to goal, but is not expecting a cat-and-mouse affair at Stamford Bridge.

He added: “We have to play as a team and when we play good and quick passing, we can play against anybody and win.

“Arsenal never go for a draw, we always go for a win and I am sure a club like Chelsea will do the same as well because every time I have played against them they have always gone forwards, to go for the victory.”

  1001. iceman says:

AW should seriously consider Toure for the DM spot…..he’s lost his CB spot….had bags of energy and doesn’t mind getting “stuck in”……..

It’ll be another great conversion story…..Henry to striker……Lauren to defender etc……..

  1006. iceman says:

I’m reading speculation about him and it would be sad to see the last of the invincible’s go like that….

Maybe AW should give it one last try….. who knows it could work….

That way even if he doesn’t shop in Jan we’re OK for the short term at least…….

Cesc is the new Tony…..legend in the making………

  1007. ethangunner says:

he’s been at arsenal how long and hasnt even seen a TA video ???
    hmmmmm

well we have a fine one there dont we? .. ready to absorb all the clubs history !??
    THIS IS THE PROBLEM !

id be putting weekly videos on of our unbeaten runs ! and gritty victories !
eye of the tiger cesc !

THE EYE OF THE TIGER !

    yes GG ,
do you really expect cesc to say we ain’t got a hope in hell !
he is turning into a regular little wenger already ..

other than a Burnley penalty’s shoot out in the C.C the chevs have still never been beaten at home in over 100 EPL games ..

id be more than happy with a draw ! but with injuries , i doubt it !
if we have to wait to the 87th minute to grab a winner like … V chicken keiv
then all i can say is we wil be long BBq’ed by the chevs B4 the 87th minute

    2-0 too the chev’s .

Id like to hope they can find some of that grit they had V man U ..
but the chev’s have far more class about them than Man U .
and they are at home !!! fuckin tough too impossible ..
    it will be physical 100 % – mental 100 % ..

and i dont think currently we have the back bone !

i agree iceman toure for DM !
but wenger seems on a delusional dream ride currently .
not sure when the cunt is going to get of his magic round a bound !
but what ever he’s smokin , it must be some gooood shittt !

cause he sure as fuck aint thinking about formations , or making it work !
he has all the mannerism’s of a defeatist attitude !

put on the young ones ! they might make you famous !

iceman in any case the chev’s smell blood …
i dont think they will want to be upset !
not in a london derby !

id like to think with my heart and predict a victory for us ..
but as ever i wish to walk in the realm of reality ..
i dont think we will get much more than a point at best !
i gotta be brutally honest here ..
