RVP to Milan, Ade to Real, Vela to Hull but we won’t be buying anyone.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I used to hang on Wenger’s every word and when my Chav or Manc mates used to tell me Wenger was always whining, I used to tell them to re-think what they had said as they were surely mistaken.

Everything the boss said had to be right as he would only ever tell the truth, I now believe he’s like so many others I deal with in life, like builders, lawyers and estate agents, he just lies first, because it’s easier to fool us.

The headline reflects the stories doing the rounds at present and whilst I don’t believe them, last year the rumours were Flamini to Milan and Hleb to Barca. The other one was ‘I’m buying no one’ he told the truth there so I’m not sure.

Yes I know he got Nasri, but he replaced Hleb and we were already 4 players short from the year before and don’t forget we sold Hoyte, Hleb, Flamini, Gilberto and Lehmann as well.

I touched on yesterday, that what gets me is the lies that both Arsene Wenger and the board tell, strong words yes, but lies none-the-less.

Edelman and Fizsman say we have up to £75 million, Wenger says he has nothing, who’s lying?

Wenger said we didn’t buy a defensive midfielder because we found no-one he wanted, yet YaYa Toure says he turned us down, Benitez said Arsenal made two 11th hour bids for Alonso and O’Neill says we enquired over Barry. So who’s lying there, Wenger or YaYa, Benitez and O’Neill?

This is serious shit people, we are being lied to and for me that is unacceptable, if you lied to the police you would be charged with obstruction.

We need to sign players in the window and we need to sign quality players, the Carling cup kids were fantastic, but they need help, look at the first team, we beat the Mancs one week and lose to Villa the next, having Gallas and Silvestre in the side doesn’t stop the midfield getting over run, we miss players like Flamini and Gilberto, the invisible wall, we need a Cana, Alonso or Barry, we need a centre back not a make weight like Song.

Who cares if they’re cup tied, with this team we’ll win nothing, at least new signings could get us the FA Cup and a top four place, yes Arsenal, I’m now concerned about the top four, out title odds dropped from 12-1 to 33-1, how does that make you feel boss? It makes me feel like shit.

We all get excited at the thought of Eduardo returning, but how good was he? I remember his awesome finishing but I also remember him not being in games for long periods, I’m not saying he’s not the dogs, I’m saying he won’t change the dynamic of the team, that needs to be done from the back.

And I think it’s time to change the keeper, mad Jens got dropped for two mistakes, rightly so, but how many has Almunia got to make before we drop him?

We have the future, it’s the present we need to address, get the cheque book out Arsene, stop making ridiculous excuses and please don’t keep lying to us, it’s getting boring.

Just one last thing before I let you loose in the comments… it’s nice to see ANR write an piece which could have been cut and paste out of any of our summer articles. Well played Myles, finally an intelligent article. Looking around the web, it’s great to see that Le Grove and it’s Grovers were talking sense this summer, give yourself a pat on the back guys.

See you in the comments.

pat I have done more or less the same thing with my fantasy team, Almunia and Denilson out, Cech and Malouda in, and I don’t even feel bad about it. I did keep Gallas though, you never know he might get a goal or two one game, but he’s on the bench for now.

  2. avenell

Old Red nose actually got done by the FA.. :)
2 game ban and 10k out of the Unwins fund..

and Drogba misses the Arse game.. (we could bring Senderos back) ..

  3. Ash

Lets hope that there are signings planned for January. Wenger has to take the blame for understating the impact of Flamini and Hleb leaving. We needed players and were not on the position to wait for deadline bargains ” Alonso”.

There are big players available. Schweinsteiger is out of contract in the summer and we have been linked with him on afew occasions. He would solve lots of our problems

  4. Ash

He could play anywhere Diaby plays. He would add physical presence to our midfield and he scores goals. We’d still need a pure defensive midfielder though.

I really hope we go for players like him & De Rossi

  5. choy

    Maciek ..

I have only seem in during international matches and he plays on the right?… a good replacement/ backup for rosicky… great set pieces too….

Wenger: We were punished for a mistake at the back
    Dear Supporter,

Our performance on Saturday was not good but it was the kind of game where you can win 1-0. Could we have lost the game in the first half? Yes. But instead we lost it when we looked stronger in the second half. It was the kind of game where you cannot afford a mistake at the back and I believe we were punished because of that.

I feel we were a bit unlucky as well on the first goal because we had Bacary Sagna down after getting injured. For the second goal there was a blatant foul on Carlos Vela on the edge of their box. Instead of having a chance to equalise from a free-kick we are then 2-0 down. Sagna’s injury is quite serious by the way and I expect him to be out for a few weeks. He has hurt his ankle.

We beat Manchester United last week and then lost this week, while Villa beat us after losing against Middlesbrough and Newcastle. Top-level performance is about consistency and at the moment we are not consistent enough to produce that kind of performance week-in week-out.

You have to accept that the game is played by human beings and sometimes physically they have a drop. It is very difficult for us to have a rational explanation about what happened against Villa. I believe that the team have the desire but like a few other times this year it is unexplainable why we don’t really play at our 100 per cent potential.

I have to say Villa played well and they deserved to win but I don’t want to talk about them too much because I don’t know them very well. On Saturday they played well but I saw their game against Middlesbrough on tape and they could have lost by six or seven so it is very difficult for me to assess them. They have a big potential if you look at the performance against us.

Finally, I have been asked a lot about possible transfers in January but it is too early to answer that question. We are mid-November and we have to see where we are at the end of December. At the moment, speculating about transfers won’t help us.

    Thanks for your support.

This is AW’s address to the supporters….

  7. Maciek

    Choy- I respect Your view.
Yes, he is physical, but is he a typical winger? He is another Diaby. You never know where he plays.

  8. choy

we don’t play with wingers anyway.. knowing arsenal.. we’ll probably buy him.. imagine the cost of buying a shirt with this name on it

  9. Maciek

    Good joke.
I would prefer Valencia or Palacios. Wenger had a chance to buy Palacios but he said-no I got the “pas master” and Song and Diaby.

  10. Maciek

Everything is possible BUT we must act and soon. It’s time to move on. His experiment has failed and he must admit it, buying experienced, great players. Zapata, Cana, Arshavin and Given and we can destroy many teams.

  11. choy

I think walcott is just a precaution.. I am sure arsene would have had a word with capello….heheh

    My favourite.. Dennis surely…

  12. Euskal Gooner

Maciel I believe that De Rossi is a pure DM, he’s smart, tactical perfect, you go long and short, aggressive, physical and also has a good shot, but he is a god in Rome and the Italian good players do not want to get out of there, it is impossible for me

  13. trindle

Experienced players in January eh? I wonder who … Gary Neville was looking particularly “experienced” when we played Man Ure.

  14. Kun_A

hopefully, the midifeld would look decent like this
    RM DM M LM
    nasri denilson ramsey LJW
based on form im sure denilson was ok recently

  15. Ash

Yeah De Rossi is more of a defensive midfielder but he can play too. To me he’s a better player than Flamini but as Euskal Gooner says its almost impossible to lure him away from Roma. Am sure theres some other options available.

Partnerships like Henry-Pires, Vieira-Petit & Toure-Campbell(to a lesser extent) are not easy to find nowadays and Wenger should have offered Flamini the increase he deserved to keep his partnership with Cesc going. We’ve just offered Van Persie a new £80,000 which is abit baffling considering we never went above £55,000 a week for the Flamster

  16. Kun_A

rvp has earned a few match ban for lously knocking the keeper down- twat where as the flamster would have saved our loosing games, helped fab get his rythem back and hence helped arsenal earn atleast a top two. we might even have been top cuz he would have saved the goals let in in the matches we lost. well agaist stoke, hull anyway

  17. Ash

Theo needs to learn not to fall down on his shoulder. Against Stoke Delap tackled him and he did his left shoulder. Now its his right. Hopefully it wont take 3 months?

  18. Maciek

Funny thing. Vieira and Henry both had to play great for many seasons to get a chance to earn more money and all Van Persie has done was scoring about 40 goals in 3 and a half seasons.

  19. Maciek

    Lets face it.
Our players earn lots of money and are not delivering. I’m sure Song, Eboue and Almunia, Diaby, Denilson and Bendtner are all on 45-50 000. Adebayor-800000?
He does not deserve to earn half of that.

  20. Maciek

I still think that Bendtner will come good. He is an intelligent player. I would play him behind our main striker.

    Cana Fabregas

    Bendtner

    Eduardo

    That would be good.

  21. patthegooner

FFS when will our luck change

down to the bones against Man City, I would go for

    Ramsey, Denilson, Diaby, Nasri

I dread to think what Wenger will go for…I fear for us, I really do.

  22. Keyser

Cheer up Pat mate, at least you’ll get to see how Ramsey does, if he doesn’t get injured tomorrow that is, might even get to see Wilshire.

  23. kingsley

i think i read that eboue has a knee injury and will be out for a few more weeks. surely ramsey OR willshere will start. if we go will song, denilson, diaby nasri we are in trouble.

    my team for sat

    almunia

    toure, gallas, sylvester, clichy

    denilson

    ramsey diably

    nasri rvp

    ade

  24. Keyser

I think Geoff or someone mentioned Song doesn’t have a game midweek so we could see him depending on how much of the Wales game he’s involved in.

Lansbury scored, he’s Captain for under 19′s aswell, Gavin Hoyte played and Rui Fonte scored for Portugals under 21 team who beat Spain’s under 21′s 4-1, Merida I think was playing for Spain.

  25. kingsley

song does have a game, playing in south africa. going back to possible transfer targets what about mark van bommel. he’s 31 and in the last year of his contract. i read on sky sports that munich may sell him in january to get some money before he leaves on a free.

  26. Keyser

Dayum, I can see why all clubs hate these stupid friendlies, Walcott could be out for a few weeks unless it wasn’t that serious ?!

We could see our whole defence play for France.

Have you watched Van Bommel much ? Does he still have the energy to get around the midfield like he used to ?!

  27. raif

    kingsley

    mark van bommel

we was going to buy him but that fell though. and after the spitting incident when he spat at one of our player that killed the deal right off. he was a hate figure among arsenal fans since then

but i dont see him comming to arsenal. His to old and he would demand a big wage im sure of it

  28. kingsley

i havent to be honest, maybe his legs have gone. i just remember him being a quality player with great experience. he is captain for munich so i find it stange that they havent offered him a new contract……..

  29. kingsley

the deal for van bommel fell through because psv wanted to much money so we went for gilberto instead. i’m not convinced he’s a hate figure amongst us all? no more than silvestre, he did headbutt freddie after all…………..

  30. Keyser

Lansbury was playing for the under 19′s I don’t think it was shown on tv, the under 21′s was shown on Setanta. Rhys Murphy came on aswell later on, that kid can finish.

  31. raif

    kingsley

yeah i see what you mean. but come on. SPITTING is the lowest of the low and it was at Henry of all people. and commeted 10 fouls no less

i was at the game and every fan looked asif they wanted to Kill the guy, me included.

  32. kingsley

    31. having read the article i get where you are coming from . however at the same time i feel we could do with a player like that at the moment.

  33. raif

yeah we could get somthing from a player like him. but he would have to sort out that nasty streak in him. and maybe its been a while since what happend maybe alot of people would have forgoten by now? who knows,

but he would add some much needed experience aswell since he has won things.

but in all honesty he wouldnt be anywere on my list of players if i needed to buy a midfielder.

  34. Keyser

He’d be good short-term but I think we’d still need someone else, Klinsmann probably wants to bring a few of his own players in and some of them are getting on a bit.

I think it’s kind of sad really, to think of all the young players we have that have the qualities or seem to but are just a couple of years too young to help us this season.

  35. raif

well PV4 was already at our club and tho we all thought it was wrong i for one turnd a blind eye to it.

even when my mates spoke about it i gave them the classic Wenger comment

    * I DIDNT SEE IT *

  36. raif

    trindle

we have been in transition for years now. its been so long i dont think we can even call it transition anymore

i would call it “wengers wall pulling over ur eyes trick” lol

  37. raif

    kingsley

haha the good old days. do you remember back then when we had a team full of over 25 year olds. and the media was screaming at wenger to play our kids.?

  38. olive shamon

wenger should serisly just leave his waisting his time like tommy says if arsenal continue the way there going wenger will be looking for a new job at the end of the season

  39. trindle

Too true Raif. But it certainly aint the stable side we thought would be built out of the ashes of last years challenge.
There was a time when you “bled” a youngster when one of your senior players was injured or out-of-form.

  40. raif

its a shame as we should have held on to some of the older players over the years to pass down there know how to the youngster. but hey that wasnt to be,

Wenger always spoke about how he wanted to do what Man Utd did and bring a new Genaration of young players but what Mr Wenger Forgot was letting the older players teach them and keep them in line.

  41. trindle

That’s the problem in a nutshell. there has to be a blend – in the same way there has to be a blend of attack/defence. Add a bit of steel, hep presto, another title.

But if you’re blinkered and afraid to admit you’re wrong because it would be a weakness …

  42. alex

with theo out and sagna out, eboue wont go back as RM. with Diaby probably filling in for cesc due to suspension, I wonder who is going to go on the right. Ramsey anyone? He played on the right against Fenerbache I believe.

  43. goonervela

huntelaar is the best option for arsenal
MAN U has already strikers, chelski doesnt even bid for it,
liverpool no chance of getting into the race for huntelaar,
so its time for arsenal to get him.
MAN city may be in race for him

  44. ethangunner

    alex

do we really have that many 1st teamers out ?
oh crap add to that the international week of pointless injuries and it sounds like we are in the shit V man shitty ..

  45. ethangunner

me id go with toure RB
swap nasri to RM and put vela on LM !
you then have the wings taken care of ..
and i would go with diaby ramsey in the center of the park ..

although id prefer jack to fill in for cesc .. as i don’t think you’ll lose anything there ..
especially currently with cesc’s dip in form .

  46. Arup

I think this is not going to happen at all. The only striker I am expecting to leave is Bentdner. I think he is not intelligent enough to be in Arsenal. And once we get back Eduardo in full fitness, Bentdner cannot expect a first team run.

Arsene is an intelligent man. He cannot afford to sell Ade, Van and Fab at any cost. More over I am speculating that may be we can buy a defender and a defencive midfilder in this transfer window apart from some young guys.

So guys I think we should not worry about think and pray only that Arsenel finds some consistency.

  47. Moray

it’s not Wenger’s MO to be signing players in January, tho I think he’ll have to bring in a midfielder who isn’t shit. If he can point to injuries, it may save him some face if he does so – and therefore make new signings more likely. Also, does anyone else miss not having even one orthodox winger in the team any more? I think winger is Wenger’s most hated position.

Another thing: Like a Champo Manager afficionado, Wenger enjoys the brinksmanship of the transfer window, and has employed the twelfth hour tactic to some success in recent seasons, most notably with the Gallas/Cole swap (having even to ask the FA for a registration extension as I remember). I think this season he was just caught out and Liverpool played him very well (if we can’t have Barry you ain’t having Xavi). Unfortunately, this looks like it’s almost certainly cost us the league if not a CL place. As a comparison, Man U paid over the odds for Berbatov, but at least they have the player…I also don’t think his commentating for French tv at the Euro helped much, especially as he’s already a) the best paid manager in the Prem (I think?) and b) Doing the job of 2-3 people at Arsenal. I didn’t see Ferguson appearing on the BBC commentary team, for example…just that fat headed buffon Alladyce (and look what happened to him).

  48. hurley

Make Kolo Captain, put gallas / silvestre on the bench play Djouro with Kolo and buy another 6 ft 3 CB with experience or get Swiss tony back = Defence sorted.

Get 2 really world class central midfielders.

Crisis over. We all know what needs to be done.

  49. hurley

Yeah but hes learned how to defend properly surely by now – Italy breeds defence and hes also tall, put him next to Kolo it worked fine till the CL final, and dont forget he only lost the plot when Dogbag battered him about, which the Dog was doing to all CD in England at the time. But yeah would prefer someone like Big Sol to come in (Younger version) and make a statement of intent about out defence.

  50. xeeez

Play Eboue at RB.. Kolo is a not a RB..Nothing in his game is good enough for a RB..Move Nasri to RM and Vela/Diaby toi left with Wilshere on the bench.

  51. Moray

Toure gets forward quite well, as I remember. Is he completely unsuitd to be a DM ? I can’t think he’d be worse than our other options in that position.

  52. hurley

Bearing in mind confidence is a biggy for our keeper. Id have to go with

    Almunia

    Sagna Djouro Toure Clichy

    Ramsey Diaby Denilson Nasri

    Vela Adeybayore

But it wont be that. It will probably be

    Almunia

    Sagna, Gallas Silvestree Clichy

    Eboue Denilson Nasri RVP

    Diaby

    Adeybayore

  53. hurley

Moray he gets forward well from the backl with gaps to exploit he has neither the composure nor the passing to play CDM in my opinion mate. He would get caught out too often. Nice idea though

  54. Moray

hurley, I sort of agree with you, but for passing we have Fabregas and isn’t it better for him to exercise his lack of compsure in midfield than in defence?! I feel he would play better alongside a more commanding presence (ie more Fabregas than Gallas).

  55. iceman

    Apparently Real want Adebarndoor……..25m…………

    This couldn’t come at a better time………truly a blessing in disguise………

  56. hurley

Valid point Moray, although in all honesty I would prefer to see Diaby mopping up in midfield alongside cesc except Diaby comes across as a lazy twat sometimes. We all know that were short of a CDM and no amount of shuffling is going to change that. Playing players out of position is NOT the answer and never will be.

  57. xeeez

    My team would be:

    ————Fab

    Eboue–Gallas–Toure—Clichy

    Diaby-Ramsey-Denilson-Nasri

    ——-RvP– Adeybayore

Eboue has a good cross and Diaby just cuts in like Hleb. He is the closest to hleb we’ve got on the ball, a lot slower but he is good so Eboue can make the overlaps there and Diaby can wait and wait untill the right moment.

I think Ramsey’s engine and ability to step up has got to be the key here in the city game. Btw vela can be and option for Nasri or Rvp but that might make us a bit lightweight.

  58. Seb

Considering how much he was banging on about how Diaby was going to be a great midfielder, he hasn’t played him as one of a central pair yet. Now that’s what I call ‘killing the young players’.

  59. Geoff

the thing is Arsenal and their injury list cannot keep being coincidental, every fucker we sign ends up as a long term injury.

  60. xeeez

Iceman I think Eboue should cover for sagna if fit..coz toure is shite as a RB!and eboue can just play at one position and that is RB..!

  61. xeeez

well geoff then start lookin for suitors coz I bet Wenger is gonna have his beloved song near the first team..u see at Arsenal no matter who gets injured we have a couple of muppets waiting in the ranks to fill in..be it any midfield postion, RB, CB!

Eboue=RW, CM and RB where he is ok.
Song=CM, CB, RB. WOW. Is he a michael essien or what!

  62. iceman

I hear you xeeez but AW won’t do that….he prefers Eboue RM these days……

    Yeah…..Song’s a poor mans Essien…. ;)

  63. gnarleygeorge9

    Good morning London

Well its not official, but I can tell you Australia, if not in it, is that close to a recession its not funny. Which probably reflects the mood @ The Arsenal ;)

  64. ethangunner

one things for sure wenger will play as many of his favorites as possible ..
expect too see song – eboue – diaby – denilson ade all playing some sort of role ..

i don’t know how anyone can still want ade for 25 million ..
    i wouldn’t buy him for 25 pence !

Instead of just going with the same old bollocks that has got us no where this season
start incorporating jack – vela – ramsey-johan – fab2 .. these guys have more talent in there small toe than than the above have , i s’pose diaby isnt too bad .. but i have never really seen miracles from the man like i have from nasri already .. why play this crap ? and let guys with a future at the club be stunted ???? we aint going to win shit this season so just throw them in now !

its time to start practicing what he preaches ! if he thinks age has nothing too do with skill level then back the current crop of fringe players ..

  65. kelsey

    Selection problems for saturday.

    Cesc(suspended)
    Walcott(dislocated shoulder)
    Eboue (still injured)
    Sagna(out until mid dec)
    Ade(playing in togo)
    Kolo(playing in Israel)
RVP,Nic,song, ramsey all playing quite local in europe
    vela (playing in hondurus)

    now pick the team guys.

  66. gnarleygeorge9

…..& speaking of The Arsenal, and can I be the one of the 1st to say this, Wenger is finished. If what this post says, he must move on. There is too much humbug. There is no doubt he is good @ what he does, but he is past his use by date @ The Club. Its time for change, including The Board/Ownership, coz things are stagnating.
