RVP to Milan, Ade to Real, Vela to Hull but we won’t be buying anyone.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I used to hang on Wenger’s every word and when my Chav or Manc mates used to tell me Wenger was always whining, I used to tell them to re-think what they had said as they were surely mistaken.

Everything the boss said had to be right as he would only ever tell the truth, I now believe he’s like so many others I deal with in life, like builders, lawyers and estate agents, he just lies first, because it’s easier to fool us.

The headline reflects the stories doing the rounds at present and whilst I don’t believe them, last year the rumours were Flamini to Milan and Hleb to Barca. The other one was ‘I’m buying no one’ he told the truth there so I’m not sure.

Yes I know he got Nasri, but he replaced Hleb and we were already 4 players short from the year before and don’t forget we sold Hoyte, Hleb, Flamini, Gilberto and Lehmann as well.

I touched on yesterday, that what gets me is the lies that both Arsene Wenger and the board tell, strong words yes, but lies none-the-less.

Edelman and Fizsman say we have up to £75 million, Wenger says he has nothing, who’s lying?

Wenger said we didn’t buy a defensive midfielder because we found no-one he wanted, yet YaYa Toure says he turned us down, Benitez said Arsenal made two 11th hour bids for Alonso and O’Neill says we enquired over Barry. So who’s lying there, Wenger or YaYa, Benitez and O’Neill?

This is serious shit people, we are being lied to and for me that is unacceptable, if you lied to the police you would be charged with obstruction.

We need to sign players in the window and we need to sign quality players, the Carling cup kids were fantastic, but they need help, look at the first team, we beat the Mancs one week and lose to Villa the next, having Gallas and Silvestre in the side doesn’t stop the midfield getting over run, we miss players like Flamini and Gilberto, the invisible wall, we need a Cana, Alonso or Barry, we need a centre back not a make weight like Song.

Who cares if they’re cup tied, with this team we’ll win nothing, at least new signings could get us the FA Cup and a top four place, yes Arsenal, I’m now concerned about the top four, out title odds dropped from 12-1 to 33-1, how does that make you feel boss? It makes me feel like shit.

We all get excited at the thought of Eduardo returning, but how good was he? I remember his awesome finishing but I also remember him not being in games for long periods, I’m not saying he’s not the dogs, I’m saying he won’t change the dynamic of the team, that needs to be done from the back.

And I think it’s time to change the keeper, mad Jens got dropped for two mistakes, rightly so, but how many has Almunia got to make before we drop him?

We have the future, it’s the present we need to address, get the cheque book out Arsene, stop making ridiculous excuses and please don’t keep lying to us, it’s getting boring.

Just one last thing before I let you loose in the comments… it’s nice to see ANR write an piece which could have been cut and paste out of any of our summer articles. Well played Myles, finally an intelligent article. Looking around the web, it’s great to see that Le Grove and it’s Grovers were talking sense this summer, give yourself a pat on the back guys.

See you in the comments.

    KEL
he has always honored his contracts , so no chance there !
and as for the board it would be interesting too see if they sack him ,
but im sure that will only be a small possibility if we lose C.L football !

but in all honesty i cant see the man going anywhere , and unless he changes his stance on transfers , i can see this going on and on and … ON !

    cant you ?
you just cant wait for our young’uns to all get the experience of say chevski or man U ..
(will it ever happen ?) its all too much of a gamble …
im sure all the quality would leave long before also .. Young players get disillusioned very quickly… and with no seasoned heads too guide them its looking grim …

I personally would like him to stay and recruit more sensible NOW type players ..
just give me 5 minutes in the room alone with him :)

Wenger needs a new challenge, & This Club needs a new direction. There is no use in hanging on to whta is now in the past. he has gioven so much to this club, he will never be forgotten as the greatest manager since the ’30′s (was it Herbert Chapman), but The Arsenal has no time to waste. The Wenger years are over. The King is dead.

  3. iceman

Just going for a little sarcasm people calm down………..Song couldn’t play Essien’s arse if he wanted to……………..

  4. gnarleygeorge9

When the players were getting red carded & winning trophys, there was never a question about player wanting to leave mid season, etc. If Cesc wants to go, there is Ramsay. & he is a Wenger legacy. Arsene we will never forget you but time is near

ethan, you state the obvious, and we knew this 18 months ago.I actually read that turnover at the emirates is2.75 million on gate receipts every home game, plus all the additional money spent.
Wenger has cocked up big time and he is turning this great club into a laughing stock. Will Kroenke have an influence, otherwise we will get weaker and weaker as a squad.
i really believe we have a good chance of next season being out of CL as retaining 4th place.that’s how desperate it is getting.

  6. Seb

We have conceded 10 goals at home already, only 5 other Premiership teams have conceded more.

In 1990/91 we conceded 10 at home all season and 8 away, and in 98/99 it was just 5 at home and 12 away.

The current side are a world away from those stats…

Setanta readers’ comment of the day

“I seem to remember similar arguments a couple of seasons ago when the Arsenal kids were being hyped up. And who beat them in the youth cup final? Seriously though, potential is just that, no matter how promising it doesn’t always come to fruition. Mind you, Rafael, Ramsey and Wilshere are already “classier” that the current first choice in their positions in their respective teams. All they need to do is develop their bodies. Then again Wallcott still has the body of a 16 year old, so even physical development is not guaranteed. The whole hype thing though is really just to deflect attention from the frailties of the Arsenal first team, and is promulgated to excuse the lack of spending. (For that I think Wenger gets the blame unfairly. It’s the Board which is primarilly responsible for the tight-fistedness The money IS there but THEY don’t want Wenger to spend it)”

  8. gnarleygeorge9

I really think The Board are the “yesterdays news” Its time for a complete overhaul of The Board; get some fresh thinking in there.

  9. gnarleygeorge9

Arsenal could do with a Dutchman @ the helm. You name him there are planty about always looking for a fresh challenge. Huus is good, but there are more (DB10)

  10. gnarleygeorge9

Wenger is finished. But I will never forget the joy he has given. But @ times like this you have to be cruel to be kind.

  11. SIMON MCAHON

gnarley ,with you on this one 100%,
    timoe for change
SORRY GEOFF i can see WENGER PENCILLING SONGS NAME ON THE TEAM SHEET
    shit shit shit.

  12. kelsey

i have supported the gunners for 50 years and as someone said yesterday if they win i am like a child with a smile on my face but if they lose it takes days to recover.
What’s frustrating is that with a few tweeks we wouldn’t be in this position.
every game means nothing to build on.if we thrash city does it mean we will give chelsea a game.if city thrash us,the same applies.

we need consistency,a belief amongst the players and true motivation, and at the moment we have none of it.

  13. Kun_A

tru unfortunately- he should be kept as the youth and reserve team coach and maybe for a little scouting but that’s it. enough is enough. new manager brings freshness. i hate to say this but look at the spuds.

  14. SIMON MCAHON

for me del bosque, mancini, with keown, or db10 as righthand man,
sorry when the boss goes i want a complete clearout….

  15. Big Raddy

    Sorry GG. I can’t agree.

The Board, Is what is happening on the pitch, the Board’s fault? Most of them are not involved in the running of the club. Fizman has been categorical about the funds available to AW. He has no reason to lie.

The problems seem to lie at AW’s feet. He is a man under pressure and it shows – he is making decisions that appear to be desperate. In particular the singular adherence to the youth policy. Whilst laudable, it is harming us. My fear is that the great players who come through will not want to stay at a club with no silverware.

I do not see AW leaving until the end of his contract. And I still believe he is the best manager around

  16. gnarleygeorge9

    Big Raddy

The Board are tired, old, spent, you name it. New thinking needs to be introduced like any ailing business. They are where “the buck stops” The last great thing they did was vote on a new stadium.

  17. SIMON MCAHON

Raddy i respect you view but if this is true the long term damage wenger will do could lead us to a few years in the wilderness , we will struggle to stay in the top four every season , we will struggle this year ,
wengers game plan has been rumbled and now he’s being outcoached by morons like
brown, pulis and yesterday men like hodgson
    sorry we need change..

  18. London

Talking of Alzheimer’s, the last time Song played a full game was against West Ham.
Wenger is going to play Song against Man City just to wind Geoff up; although, the advantage as I see it is that we will see once and for all if the West ham game was a fluke or as I secretly hope, because I support Arsenal, is that Song is better than the press he receives. I still maintain we haven’t seen enough of him to justify his vilification.

  19. ethangunner

yes its the board .. i agree BR !
they must of told wenger to get innovative to stay competitive .
Like all bosses , they are in charge of the monetary decisions and thats why i despise them

  20. Geoff

Read my post today, it’s very interesting and touches on what you both said Gnarley and Raddy.

Kelsey, the more the Euro goes up the more the Spanish economy will suffer, people will stop going, they will stop buying, the Costa’s will become ghost towns.

La Manga club are owned by Med Group and they yesterday suspended all supplier payments, they are deep in the shit, if they are, the rest of Spain are more so, I hope your money isn’t tied to their economy.

  21. ethangunner

    SIMON

i think it would matter little if you introduced a new manager .
if the new manager still has monetary restrictions on spending what will we really
    achieve by sacrificing wenger ?

all you would get is a mass exodus of his young talent leave !

  22. SIMON MCAHON

the board are just a bunch of old tory public school boys, they are lost in the modern world they still live in their good old empire days swigging the best coniac and smoking fine cigars ,
THEY ARE COMPLETELY CLUELESS, Look at the slowness in the appointment of the c.e.o
old ken friar is doing the job ,how many forward thinking 72 year olds are there at the top of the biggest companies in the buisness world?

  23. Franchise

I dont know why u guys keep speaking of more than one coach replacing Arsene. Is it cos u think its a massive task for one person to handle or that the replacements you are recommending are not good enough?

  24. Erik, Sweden

Ok, firt of all, I agree. In just about everything in this blog. In Sweden there are two different camps in this Wenger question. Either you are fed up with the old man or you will defend him no matter what.

But my question to you, Grovers, is WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU GUYS DOING!?
You guys are so freaking lame, so lousy. DO SOMETHING! ACT, FFS! You are the fans living in the country, you are the ones with the oppurtunities to go out to Colney and scream, yell or protest. Put the French against the wall.

It is obvious Wenger doesn’t care about the clubs future, he doesn’t know how to handle a company in the market. He only cares for himself and his pervert way of slowly throwing this club in the bin. But he needs to hear it. Loud.

If I had the oppurtunity to go to London Colney I would be there and let him know what we think instead of whining on the web.

Keep it up and sorry for the spelling.
