I used to hang on Wenger’s every word and when my Chav or Manc mates used to tell me Wenger was always whining, I used to tell them to re-think what they had said as they were surely mistaken.
Everything the boss said had to be right as he would only ever tell the truth, I now believe he’s like so many others I deal with in life, like builders, lawyers and estate agents, he just lies first, because it’s easier to fool us.
The headline reflects the stories doing the rounds at present and whilst I don’t believe them, last year the rumours were Flamini to Milan and Hleb to Barca. The other one was ‘I’m buying no one’ he told the truth there so I’m not sure.
Yes I know he got Nasri, but he replaced Hleb and we were already 4 players short from the year before and don’t forget we sold Hoyte, Hleb, Flamini, Gilberto and Lehmann as well.
I touched on yesterday, that what gets me is the lies that both Arsene Wenger and the board tell, strong words yes, but lies none-the-less.
Edelman and Fizsman say we have up to £75 million, Wenger says he has nothing, who’s lying?
Wenger said we didn’t buy a defensive midfielder because we found no-one he wanted, yet YaYa Toure says he turned us down, Benitez said Arsenal made two 11th hour bids for Alonso and O’Neill says we enquired over Barry. So who’s lying there, Wenger or YaYa, Benitez and O’Neill?
This is serious shit people, we are being lied to and for me that is unacceptable, if you lied to the police you would be charged with obstruction.
We need to sign players in the window and we need to sign quality players, the Carling cup kids were fantastic, but they need help, look at the first team, we beat the Mancs one week and lose to Villa the next, having Gallas and Silvestre in the side doesn’t stop the midfield getting over run, we miss players like Flamini and Gilberto, the invisible wall, we need a Cana, Alonso or Barry, we need a centre back not a make weight like Song.
Who cares if they’re cup tied, with this team we’ll win nothing, at least new signings could get us the FA Cup and a top four place, yes Arsenal, I’m now concerned about the top four, out title odds dropped from 12-1 to 33-1, how does that make you feel boss? It makes me feel like shit.
We all get excited at the thought of Eduardo returning, but how good was he? I remember his awesome finishing but I also remember him not being in games for long periods, I’m not saying he’s not the dogs, I’m saying he won’t change the dynamic of the team, that needs to be done from the back.
And I think it’s time to change the keeper, mad Jens got dropped for two mistakes, rightly so, but how many has Almunia got to make before we drop him?
We have the future, it’s the present we need to address, get the cheque book out Arsene, stop making ridiculous excuses and please don’t keep lying to us, it’s getting boring.
Just one last thing before I let you loose in the comments… it’s nice to see ANR write an piece which could have been cut and paste out of any of our summer articles. Well played Myles, finally an intelligent article. Looking around the web, it’s great to see that Le Grove and it’s Grovers were talking sense this summer, give yourself a pat on the back guys.
See you in the comments.

Le Grove is now smart phone compatible!

boom
wheeeeeee 1st
3rd, oooops
Minge!
Chipo you toerag!
morning all…. Ade to real? hmmmm… huntelaar anyone then?
Fair play geoff I agree with all that, the problem is how are we going to change things? We are powerless! Read an interesting post on vitalfootball about shuffling the backroom staff – rice, primorac etc- to ward off the complacency our team is showing at the moment. Something has to be done that’s for sure..
huntelaar is so over rated! But happy for ade to go tbh, when he came on v villa everyone was hoping he would kickstart our performance but he was just as bad as Bendtner
Geoff – Interesting what Myles had to say about Gary Lewin in his blog. Conjecture for the most part but very plausible.
I think most of us will have the good sense to see what happens in January (we’ll just have to grin and bear it for now). If nothing happens I think that will speak volumes for the state of this club. On the road to nowhere
I have a feeling that Aresene’s health is really not tops any more. The way he stares at the touchline, pale and sickly, as if expecting magic from the team which is not there, is really pitiable. Well, he can only blame himself, his stubbornness and refusal to think outside his own envelope, his willingness to play the silly game of the board and his greed. Yes, his greed, because I am almost sure he gets a bonus out of saving transfer kitty for the board!
chipo with 75 goals for ajax in 90 games?!? i don’t think so!
afonso alves scored more than that now look at him! The Dutch league means bugger all
Good morning Grovers, I have been in a depressed mood since the Villa game and there I am still. Geoff I love coming to read your posts and the comments from the fellow Grovers here everyday, but at dark times like these I just wander how much of a difference we can make. You are absolutely right that we need major changes in thinking and possibly in personel at the boardroom BUT I cannot see that happening. Also with regards to who is feeding who bullshit, they are all at it. We were fed bullshit at selected moments to boos ticket sales etc as you mentioned in a blog not a long time ago.
I am afraid that we can sit here all day and talk about the happenings of our beloved club but the Wankers who are running dont give a shit about me or anyone here. I am not going to stop supporting the club, Arsenal will still be here after those wankers are gone, but like you said we need to sort out the present not the future. If we drop from the top four (and no team has divine right to be there) then that can have a bad affect on our future, then we would have lost the present and future because of these clowns.
It is very depressing to be an Arsenal fan these days and believe me it will be like this for the rest of the season
lol alfonso alves
Geoff,i agree with your post, but what we the fans want and can see what is missing,as is obvious to the world and his mother, doesn’t usually happen either because of lies or not willing to spend,as you have said.
What is alarming to me,is that if we finish up without a trophy or 4th.spot,which is no way guaranteed, nothing will change and wenger will still have a job, after another year of failure.
For the moment we could put Djourou in defensive midfield, or in a 4-2-3-1 alonside Denilson. Djourou is the only player in the squad who has always said he WANTS to play defensive midfield
any1 think we can win the champions league…….
it would all be worth it….!!
Gooner 2- it’s all papering over cracks. One leak springs you plug it, then another, then another. The problems are far more fundamental. It’s not about individuals or the formation anymore, it’s about collective attitude and responsibility which leads into morale all of which are severely lacking
kezman was a goal machine in holland to and look how he turned out!
the good news is tho we’re tracking athletico madrid’s b team 17 yr old defensive midfielder!!! what a joke
We would have won the league last year had Jens been in goal!
Geoff the first part of your post??? did u used to be an AKB??? lol
Many non Grovers interpreted many of our concerns as we were talking shite or being sensationalists.
We were showing our concerns at what was blatantly obvious is now happeneing.
I am very concerned at Wengers PR nowadays.
I have been worried all summer & seriously worried we may struggle to make 4th with this squad.
IF, we fail to buy in Jan, finish out the top 4, then we surely see one or two big players possibly be tempted to leave.
How much support would Arsene still have ??
Fucking hell, powerful stuff my ANR, but worryingly spot on………
G4ever… i thought about it and fancied us cos we are better in europe but now days we’d have to play and english team to get to the final and i think we’d loose to all 3
wenger will not buy anyone in january. with rosicky coming back and the amount of midfielders now promoted/integrated (song, diaby, denilson etc) in the first team, it will be hard for him to buy some experienced player in and “kill” their chances of playing.
i truly believe we need a holding mid and one who is not afraid to come straight in and boss defense if needed. when arsenal move forward on attacks, the whole team move forward and if we only have gallas/silvestre/toure as the last defender close to the half way line, we are going to get caught out on counter because most of our defenders are too far up the pitch.
holding midfielder needed. will we get one? not until the season ends at least, you can bet your season ticket on it.
Sarge well said. As individuals and collectively the players are just not performing. This goes beyond formation and tactics. Its as if the whole team decided to have a dip in form at the same time. Before when we used to go one goal behind I did not worry because I knew we can get a goal, but now looking at the matches even the players dont have that belief which indicates Moral (and that bulshit mental strength AW speaks about) is ZERO
I think I might just forget about the real world this season and concentrate on Football Manager 2009. What a game. We had 38m to spend at the start of the season. I bought Zapata 10m, palombo (dmc) 12m and Nihat 14m. Now I’m 2 points off top spot with 10 games to go! And that’s how it should be in real life!
That ANR piece moved me, especially the part on Cesc. ‘On his knees” is quite fecking right, AW’s fault.
chipo i bought FM 2009 and cant get it working!!!!!!! i have been trying since friday and been having all sorts of problems…….. did it work first time for you????
we need someone to stand up and be counted big time, someone who runs their bollocks off even at 2 nil down, and screams at anyone else not doing the same… that mentality will soon spread quickly because no body would want to be seen as lazy… 2 real leaders (1CB 1CM) who refuse to loose would sort this squad right out.
chipo… i started a new one last night!!!
i signed JT (cunt but a good player) arshavin, vagna love, tchowski (excuse spelling) and nasri… atleast my arsenal team wins!!!
Hey people , I know were all disgusted wid whats happening rite now , but what really ticks me off is that there is no sense of acceptance , or even a hint from the upper echleon at the club that things are not merry rite now. The manager comes out after every dissappointment and negates every single thing that the common fan (who pays for the tickets and has watched a lot of footie to make judgements) makes. I just dont see any visible changes in the future. Its like a snow ball effect , if things at the top are so rosey and PHW and Fizman lay around counting money and let Wenger conduct his experiments, how can the players then work their socks off. We hear about them being taught the arsenal way to play ( translation : I play the best football , I am the next Messi , All i need is to turn up and they will rave about me) what is missing is passion and grit.
Its all well and good trying to predict who he brings in Jan, but i am afraid his mind has been so corrupted now that he thinks they are all flaminis and cescs . He wont change , the players wont change , the board wont change and FOR SURE the results wont change as well.
Its going around in circles mates , lets beat the stuffing out of robinho and co. and rave about until Chelsea smash us ( or the other way round). Atleast they are consistent about bring not so consistent.
Anyone who has FM 2009 on PC please respond??? did u guys have any problems with your game?
kenny maybe ur comp is not up to spec? Or did you install the direct X update that it asks you about? You have to do that. Try reinstalling it. It’s worth it!
One tip- John Fleck- rangers 16 year old- 3m- immense!
Don’t be surprised some of the big names are sold if the kids dislodge them from thier first team slots/.
You never know. Withethe current turmoil who’s to say Feb won’t be sold if Ramsey
establishes himself. Samr for the other big names.
Where do we go from here? that ANR article is very true, lets just hope we reinforce in the January window, we all said we needed to in August, c’mon boss, you were mistaken then, don’t be stubborn and completely ruin our season.
We will beat City though
yo! offload RVP and ade? OK! but why Vela!!? hope its only short term loan. Relax gunners fan, Arsenal will bounce back for the tittle race, league cup? most probability cups win. FA? final i guess. Champhions league? if we’re lucky, we’ll reach semi final, le champ? almost impossible! its time for young guns to step up! what am i saying…
Let not deceive ourselves, unless we have a defensive midfielder in the mode of Makelele, Viera and other bitchs on the field, we cannot win anything, repeat, we cannot win anything. We never had one since the departure of Viera, Petiti and co, Flamini tried, he failed, and when he was getting used and set to be a bitch in that position, we arrogantly allowed him to go, Now, we are back in sq. 1. Of course, you can train somebody to be a powerful defensive mid-fielder, lilke what the Chavs are now doing to Mikel Obi, but, the fact is that our players are too fragile to play in that position. Neither Denilson, nor Song is capable. Option: BUY a midfielder, a bitch, a destroyer, aa workaholic, somebody on whom Cesc can rely on and go forward as he used to. Hope of buying anyone: NO. Because Arsene knows nothing!
Chipo my computer is a two weeks old. Dual processor, nVIDIA GEFORCE graphics, heaps of RAM it should work. I downloaded the patch but no joy. I get XML parsing errors and the main problem i have is when i try go inot match mode my computer screen goes black and then just resets its self. i think it must be something to do with the 3D match engine but SEGA’s support is so shit!
wtf is with my avatar, im signed in and showing as bacary on my wordpress page, but still kathy Loyd is stalking me, I told you kathy, that was a one off, now bugger off and leave me in peace, you were rubbish anyway and i faked my climax!!!
I just hope all the stuff AW talks is not remotely what he truly thinks. Hopefully, its just some management thing.
slim… it has to be… he cant come out and say that we are desperate for another central midfield cos that will destroy denilson who isnt doing badly he’s just not the right player… wenger is a confidence man so instead of telling then they were ll shit and bottled it he tells them ‘you are good enough it was just a bad day’
however…. if he does believe it then he’s fucking bonkers
yaya turned us down,so he couldnt buy him,he enquired about barry to mainly find out about alonso’s availability
i dunno what will happen at arsenal, but while he is at the club’arsene knows’ aint got no choice but to hope
A.Tom – Was the denilson mention a digg at him or a point? lol.
hi grovers
slim… just a point… he’s not a holding midfielder so its no wonder he’s getting shown up there… he’s a good player but not ready for the first team… he should be playing the last 20 mins when we’re 3-0 up to rest fab
ATom – Fuck ‘em, he should be telling them how it is, not sugar coating it, that’s been the fucking problem – they are all wonderful, they are the best group of players he’s ever had etc etc etc zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. DB10 should ring AW and tell him to feck off!
ARSENAL FC ;
We in danger of becoming the Crewe of the PL.
I wonder how many of us will still be reading this in 5years time when we are in the Championship….
Slight exaggeration (I hope)
Morning all.
I have just watched the goals in the cc again.
We played football in our own half of the field and drew the opposition onto us, this eliminates the need for a defensive midfielder and protects the defence as they are not left exposed.
The first team peg the opposition back on the edge of there own penalty area and we just pass across the field backwards and forwards, then chip the ball into a crowded penalty area.
66% possesion on saturday and no killer passes, not like this from our half.
Have a look!!
http://www.goonertube.com/video-goals_goals_goals-92914-wengers_wonderkids?
DDM… i couldnt agree more mate… if you were shit then you were shit and deserve to be told so.. the fergie ‘hairdryer’ hasnt served him too badly over the years has it??
I think this is the time that both the board and the coach come together and get a defensive midfieder like yaya. I also think we need a sharp striker like obafemi martins , because the likes of bendtner playing upfront cannot produce the goals we need.
obafemi martins???
For a man who likes talking about integrity Arsene is a fraud
NB not an arsenal or any premiership side player. Sell him now and fast.
Ive always had hope that we would be able to compete this season but I was doubtful however recent results show its blatently obvious that our squad is not strong enough.
I dont buy the Kids argument either, All of our team bar Nasri have been playing in this league now for a minimum of one full season, Ok they may be young but they are not kids they are all full international players. Truth is some of them are not good enough. Would Nikki B lead the line for Man U or Chelsea? Would Denilson play in CM for Chelsea or Liverpool? Would Almunia even make it onto the bench of any of the three teams ahead of us at present?
For me our main area of weakness is in the middle of the park. Denilson is playing well but is not forming a partnership with Cesc. Sometimes good players cant play together similar to the Gerrard Lampard situation with England. We also lack a strong leader in the middle Flamini was for me the capatin last year everytime the chips were down he was seen encouraging those around him. I am now worried on our day we can beat anyone but for every good day against a Man U how many Stoke, Hull, Villa days will we have?
I suspect our best hope now is to finish in the Top 4 but we should have a real go at the champions league and FA cup.
Good stuff yet again Geoff!
It seems that everyone (that is everyone with above minimal ability to discern reality from spin) is in agreement that there is something seriously wrong at the Arsenal.
One element that appears to receive little attention though is the role of the coaching staff and in particular that of Pat Rice.
I understand that Wenger has everyone by the b***** and that he listens to no-one but his inner voice telling him that the goal of Arsenall Football Club is to promote his philosophy of creating an economically viable entity, in which the sporting element has at best a secondary priority.
But my question to you is: Is Rice the right man for the Assistant Manager pos.? Should we have someone more vocal in there who could offer an alternative once in a while? Is Wenger scaring off everyone with an independent thought? (in reference to the ANR article).
It seems that this talk of potential has completely replaced any focus on today and current reality. But, hey, perhaps my grandkids will again see a succesful team on the pitch.
It’s hard to stay optimistic at this stage.
Gus.
Good call Gus, I have never seen what Pat Rice contributes, I loved him as a player, but surely now we need a Keown in there, someone to shout and someone to give advice on what we need and when we need it.
Good point by avenell. Hope that becomes AW’s next masterstroke. It would make for wonderful viewing, seeing us drawing the other teams into our half all the time, as opposed to squeezing them into their half.
I read this article, and it’s only at times like these when they can get away with taking the piss.
http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/11/17/Prem-Song-on-Song/
As for being completely honest, I don’t think there is a manager in the world who doesn’t lie in order to achieve his aims.
For example injuries. Who really knows if a player is injured or not?
Do doctors write sick notes knowing that their patients are not ill?
The game is riddled with tactical lies, deceptive slants on situations to steer the reader/listener towards supporting the policies of a manager or criticising another.
My point is that it’s not just Wenger who is being deceptive, that there is a culture of deception entrenched in the game, skuldugery which is used as a means to an end. They can’t tell the truth or they would give the game away to their opposition, which players they wish to buy/sell, why a certain player was chosen/ommited.
I completely agree that lying is despicable, it is easy to lie to someone and have them believe you, and when you find out you’ve been mislead you feel furious. But it depends on the kind of lie that is being told and the manner in which is being told. I don’t believe Wenger conspired to deceive the fans because sooner or later what was said has to take place. Arsene Wenger has some strongly held opinions on the game which are also strongly disputed.
“1. I don’t need a good goalkeeper
2. I don’t need a big centreback
3. I don’t need another ballwinner like Flamini
4. I don’t need advice from ex -Arsenal players who say that if I bought three 27-year old players I could win everything.
And 5 : The biggest fallacy: I can’t buy experienced players because it will kill the kids.”
This is a quote from today’s Arsenal News Review. The first point is amusing, I don’t agree that is what Wenger thinks, he has said openly that he has faith in the team, and he expects them to repay his faith with good performances. But it’s not working at the moment, I don’t think demonising Wenger and making him look like an evil bastard is either true or will help to resolve our problems.
I agree he needs to sort quite a few things out, but this is the deal. He either does and we can get on with winning, or he doesn’t and we’ll be forced by necessity to review Arsene Wenger’s continued role at Arsenal. Personally I think he needs help and is in denial of the situation. Many people have mentioned that while him and David Dein worked together, they bounced off each other’s ideas and because Dein was ejected unceremoniously and Ken Friar only has a bit part role in overseeing transfers and team development, there is too much responsibility on one mans shoulders to cope.
Just like Fabregas needs help in midfield, Wenger needs help to build and organise the team, and he’s not getting enough.
We are all interdependent, the bread you eat is usually baked by someone else, we all need each others help, we all feed off each other. Wenger seems to be too isolated in his role, he bears the full brunt of the impact, and he needs a better support structure.
The club gave Wenger a total free hand as to how he could achieve his aims however now we see that he’s achieved as much as he can singlehandedly and it’s time for him to delegate some of the jobs.
Wenger has created a David v Goliath scenario for himself, with his slingshot (the youth) he hopes to take on Goliath (the best teams) and even though the slingshot can be a very effective weapon, you need more than just a slingshot, and you cannot keep going for the slingshot every time you face Goliath, you need a greater variety of tactics and choices. Playing the youth is great but why purposely limit your options and then say oh but I only had a slingshot and I was up against Goliath. We need top class players, we need options, we need a team of football top boys working together to beat Goliath, Arsene’s ideas are good and purist but not enough…..we feed off each other, each others ideas, each others work, and Wenger can’t do it all on his own. So no, it is not about Wenger being incapable, he is more than capable, but he, like all successful people, need top quality support to push him through the tough times, give him some constructive criticism to consider so he can act upon it, self-analyisis is not always enough. Wenger mentioned that it takes him 48hrs to recover from defeat and think rationally again. There should be an appropriate structure in place for situations like this to help Wenger as every man has his limit and I feel Wenger is too isolated in his approach of running the team, and in the way he analyses games.
What can we do or be done to make the game more honest and make those who make statements regarding their clubs accountable?
We know that bluffing will always be part of politics, bey they office, football or government but which statements should we hold managers accountable for?
How should such standards be enforced?
Who should be the judge and jury when deciding upon whether a manager has crossed the line or not? How can a verdict be reached without media interference and how could it be made fair and transparent?
Arsenal is one thing tht makes my week good or bad…..winnin against manc and i watched every possible the match highlight during the week… it makes me feel good siple……………………..but it is damn hard to even think abt arsenal (it start paining in the heart) afetr a defeat….yes winning and losing is part of game…..i was satified after the match CL q’final against liverpool last season b’caz arsenal did played well and it did hurt at the moment but it was not suffering like losing these matches (Fulham, Hull and stoke)………Come on arsenal give us some thing to cheer about
Finest ANR were calling us names not so long ago for saying what they said today, still at least it proves that we were right all along.
Gooner-pak, that’s what this club does to me!
I think wenger’s problem is that he is disillusioned about the state of football. He has been and still is trying to prove that he could win things by grooming together a group of youngsters w/o spending the crazy amounts that his rivals spend. He thinks that teamwork and togetherness alone can make a successful team. He doesn’t believe in star names anymore, he believes that a having come so close last year that he could at least do the same this year hence his comments like ‘We only lost three times last season, and we were were 20 minutes from victory against both United and Chelsea b4 things went wrong’ He is becoming so obsessed with his experiment and if 5 years w/o winning the prem title cannot change his stance then we I think he should leave after this season.
ATom – It’s that sort of approach/attitude we need more of on the pitch too, it’s called leadership. Tell the players in no uncertain terms that performaces like Saturday’s against Villa will NOT tolerated at Arsenal Football Club. AW should go and buy a captain, a leader, someone with a never say die attitude, bring back the Arsenal ethos.
Too many players in the first team are in Wenger’s comfort zone, as a statement of intent 2 or maybe 3 players should be benched and replaceed with CC players from the Wigan game. I’d rather see them fail, than watch the same old tired faces underperform again and again. It should be the kick up the arse that all players need from time to time.
ok I have ermmm sort of a puzzle..if we are told that we are gonna have 4 injuries after the international break..which players would u guys prefer being injured?..the players whose absence would hurt the team the least..or even might improve it with the carling cup KIDS coming in
I would now like to come ‘out’. I now know the error of my ways!
Franchise
Exactly !!
He’s systematically losing the grip on what expected of him as a manager, he’s caught up in his love affair with developing youth and with playing the perfect game.
He’s very stubborn, and won’t change his ways for anyone. There’s no pressure from above for him to achieve anything, and as long as it stays like that , the experiment / his obsession will continue. And so will the trophy drought.
wenger is too much of a good guy.. he thinks that if he plays by the rules then everyone else will to, thats why we didnt get anyone because we didnt have anyone to go and get the player however it needs to be done, wenger just phones up and say’ is he for sale? no, ok bye’ other clubs do paper talk and have people making noises for them to get the player… nice guys finish last arsene
DDM… me to mate… you cant argue with 100% effort and we have only got that for maybe 2 games this year
I was an AKB!
I now don’t believe a word that he says!
To me, PR always seems to seek AW’s apporval before he steps up to the touchline to shout directions at a player, i could be wrong!
I said at the start of November that by the end of the month we’d know what we needed to know about this season. I stand by that.
I also said that if as I expected we lost “most” of our November games that i’d protest by sending an old Arsenal Shirt into the Emirates. I stand by that too.
I wanted to do that after the transfer window shut in August because I felt that we fans had got a raw deal but I believe that Wenger had earned some patience from us.
My patience runs out at the end of this month unless I see signs that the buds can flower.
5 years w/o the league and 4 years w/o any trophies would be too much for an Arsenal Football Club that is on the rise everywhere else but on the pitch. We are the third highest revenue generating club in the world, second highest profit making club after United, have the most expensive football season tickets in the globe (I wouldnt be surprise if its in all sports) and yet we cant put together a team of 11 that would win 5 on the trot in all competitions. I hope Michael Pitt is right that the board have questioned him of recent and have insisted that he strengthens his team asap.
Franchise, when you refuse to move with the times you get left behind… Wenger is surely intelligent to realise this.
Or… he is ahead of the game and perhaps thinking about the impending collapse of the premiership?
I think the issue with the lies is that they are cynical… he’s not lying about an injury… he is lying about buying players to hook fans into another year of season ticketing.
Morning Grovers – good read Geoff
Just a thought – what about Steve Bould, youth manager, he was a pretty solid defender, why not switch him and Pat Rice around ? And get Keown in to coach both the reserves and youth (who no doubt train together) the defensive side of their game
At least then the players coming through will have more of an idea on what the word ‘defend’ means
I’d like to know what exactly the board expects Wenger as the manager of Arsenal to achieve this season. What they’d call a good/successful season.
If we knew this, then we’d know if Wenger was failing , or we had a board that lack ambition ! OR BOTH.
And people say he won’t spend crazy amounts on buying players like the others do, but he spends crazy amounts on their salaries.
So he looks after his boys, but we can wait.
Avenell @ 10:42 – a brilliant analysis of the reason why the CC team outperformed the 1st team.
I suppose that if the CC team had the reputation of the 1st team, the opposition would employ the same strategy that is so effective at nullifying the first choice players.
markb…. they expect nothing… hill-wood said before the season started wenger was under no pressure to win a trophy
Geoff, I agree – but talking of silly money,
Any amount of money spent on Song is very silly
Myles Palmer is the biggest plank out there and comes up with ridiculous drivel with amazing regularity. I suppose he has inside info into the goings on in the Arsenal camp does he? How does he know Gary Lewin had had enough? Talk about speculation! This is the same guy who assured us all that Paddy Vieira had cleared his locker at London Colney and was on his way to Madrid in 2004! Palmer is so up his own arse that he can eat his breakfast twice.
He should stick to talking about his music connections and all the great gigs he has been to. Not that he’s any good at that, but at least it wouldn’t show up in Newsnow under Arsenal.
My spelling today is complete cock, because i’m still seething at 40k per week players who can’t even be bothered to put effort in! I can forgive players who are struggling for form, but cannot forgive players who can’t be fucking arsed to make an effort, wankers!
Geoff – Are you a shareholder ? Who gets to attend the AGM’s ?!
Fab4, they are never good gigs…
“I also said that if as I expected we lost “most” of our November games that i’d protest by sending an old Arsenal Shirt into the Emirates. I stand by that too.”
Queen, they’ll probably think you want it signed by the squad
It will be sent back with ‘Arsene Knows’ scribbled on it.
song is the new eboue
Isnt it crazy that Emirates with 60,000 capacity generates more match day revenue than Nou Camp 98,772, Old Trafford 76,212, San Siro 80,018, Bernabeu 80,400 and yet the fans turn up to watch crap fom players like Song, Eboue. I am not against youngsters but watching shitty inexperienced uncommitted players after paying so much premium is unacceptable. Just imagined if I chose to grab those tickets for the Villa game available in Le Exchange for £100.00 how disgusted would I be now…….
Which brings me back to leadership on the pitch – do you really think that leaders like Keane, Adams, Terry, PV04 etc etc would tolerate such an insipid display that we had to witness last weekend………..
That is the crux of it dennis – if they had played fantastic football on Saturday, slogged their guts out, did everything they could and still lost, the result is almost bearable, but to just ‘not turn up’ is unforgiveable – they should all get docked their wages, or be made to give it to charity..
my outlook for this season has changed for the worse since that fateful villa game.
has arsene lost the will to compete? only he can answer that.
his failings are there for all to see.
Everton are pushing through a bid for Olympique Marseille midfielder Lorik Cana.
French sources say Premiership rivals Arsenal have gone cold on the midfielder, but Everton’s interest is as strong as ever.
Marseille are reluctant to part with Cana midseason, but a summer move to Goodison Park is on the cards for a player who can also play at centre-half.
Fab4 who cares about ANR. Keyser yes, but I never go, you can only ask question that they approve beforehand, it’s sanitised so no one ever looks bad.
All Arsenal care about is making money, go on their site and they are now selling Jumbo Christmas cards. No fucking shame, sorry about the shit game against Villa but buy some cards and we’ll make more money off you, you simple cunts.
It’s like the old joke, sorry to hear you had your legs amputated, but I know someone that wants to buy your slippers.
Arsenal Tom,
I thought as much. How can anyone say they’re happy with how the club is been run and managed then.
I don’t buy this shit then that Arsene needs some help, as has been mentioned earlier, the guy’s got the best jobs in the world . No pressure, no expectations put upon him, does what he like’s when he like and how he likes. Its a joke and as a true fan makes me sick.
We’ve seen the rise of wenger, and shared the good times along the way, now we’re seeing the fall of wenger , and the sooner the board realise this the better
Geoff, most of us have had to resist saying “I told you so” because these are not prophecies we want to come true.
Obviously burying your head in the sand or just having the blind faith of an AKB is going to make matters worse.
I described Arsenal as a team in decline and struggling to make 4th and was criticised on here.
People ask what can we do. The answer is very little, but your site has enormous value not only as an escape valve for our frustrations but it is also now being recognised by other sites as actually being objective all along (with a few personal excesses thrown in!)- although I doubt many of them will acknowledge that
That’s a real complement Rasputin, thanks.
Geoff – How often are they ? Is that the only way of interacting with the board ?!
What’s to stop someone asking a completely different question to the one they posted, there must be other ways of getting through to them.
I don’t believe that they don’t care that would make no sense, but they obviously can’t tell us everything that’s going on behind the scenes.
so no-one like the idea of Bould then
Oh ah Paul Mcgrath has his say:
http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/paul-mcgrath/2008/11/18/is-wenger-s-gun-spiked-97319-22282727/
Until the Champions league in 2006, Arsenal never played a 4-5-1. Even the we only employed it in Europe. Last season the reason we played it was cos at several times in the season we didnt have a prtner striker that Wenger trusted hence he played Hleb in that role. This season is much different though we tried 4-4-2 a few times and kept conceding crackers from midfield, we played it against Fenerbache scored a lot from it but still looked vulnerable defensively. The only reason we play it now is cos Wenger realises that Denilson nor Song wont do a Flamini and step up to the role. Denilson has stepped up but he isnt the man for the role. £16million would have easily solved our problem. I dont imagine us to have been doing so badly after 13 games if we signed Xabi Alonso. Offering Flamini whatever he asked for which IMO isnt astronomical would have even cost us much less. Who is responsible for all this? You guessed right. £16million we could have recouped plus more that from 6 home games. Not to mention that we have a pot of money that Arsene refuses to spend it is believed to be at least £30 million. Its hard to take
Pedro I certainly don’t think it’s the latter. It’s not like we’re asking for a complete rethink, just a readjustment in his philosophy to recognise that competitive football is not all about aesthetics but is made up of a number of different components and that you have to get the balance right in order to be successful.
Chelsea and Liverpool have chosen to buy it, so did Man U as a short term measure to regain top spot but are now starting to some emerging talent from their youth set-up. AW chose a completely different path thinking he could develop it from scratch after the break up of the Invincibles. We’ve been treading water for 4 years, made no discernible progress and it’s time for him to admit he’s made a mistake – at least to himself even if he’s got too much pride to admit it publicly.
rico01 – heh, Bould’s an interesting prospect, but then it’s up to him how quickly he wants to move on from the position he has.
He sits in the stands at Barnet by himself at times when Wenger’s not around and he seems to command a presence even then, he doesn’t seem to do too many interviews but gets a lot of respect, I think he’d be good, we need as little talk as possible and as much action as possible.
The board dont care about wenger’s situation because to them he is only damaging his own reputation… they have a big brand and hugely profitable club, brand new stadium, debts reducing every fucking transfer window when we sell up our players, top manager… as soon as the debts are down and a big money offer comes in they are long gone, and good fucking riddance
markb… that was for u^^
ATom, Sometimes the truth hurts – you’ve really upset me…….
Keyser, couldnt agree more, Im pretty tired of listening to the players and Arsene saying how good we are, and how we are going to this that and the other – about time they all shut the F up and get on the training ground and learn how to play football again, and get a dictionary and look up the words Desire, Passion, Proud, Mental Strenght…. Find out what it actually means, its what the boss always talks about, but I dont see it week in week out as we should!
Bendtner says he is more of a team player now…… what was he befor. I dont remember him being anything else b4.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/bendtner-i-am-more-of-a-team-player-now
Arsenal Tom,
Thats probably the long and short of it mate.
yea Franchise i was appalled to see Arsenal.com running the bendtner story today!
At the end he also says Arsenal and Denamark have same philosophies. I’m tired of these words ringing around in my ears from the players and the manager alike….
rico – agreed, those fuckers should have their wages docked, and they should refund all the supporters who had to sit through that shower o’ shite. In particular i felt sorry for a young lad sat a couple of rows in front of me, who was probably attending his first Arsenal game with his dad…………..those players should feel fucking ashamed of themselves, but will probably forget all about when AW tells them what fantastic players they are………
I suggested Stevie Bould a few weeks ago, but everyone said he was too nice!!
Hi Rico/Dennis – I’m still feeling despondent after the weekends shambles and to rub it in the Mank at work was in my face gloating about the results; funny how last week she was nowhere to be seen for days, funny that!
I’m fearful of being fed a load of PR in advance of the transfer window closing explaining why we won’t get any reinforcements however Michael Pittordie’s inside track on 3 experienced internationals being signed then is a tantalising glimmer of hope in this long dark tunnel of despair us goons are stuck in.
alas! we have let go off the winning Philosophy/mentality..!
sorry rasputin, but thats how i see it… the fact they all say different things shows they arent really together as a unit. i also find it hard to believe that wenger would choose not to spend, cos even with his faith in youngsters he can see this squad isnt good enough, if his hunger to win was lost he wouldn’t have signed his contract… its not like he’d be short of money, i think the main problem is there isnt anyone between him and the board
Geoff – if nobody cares about ANR then why mention his article in your post? It wasn’t an intelligent article, it was a typical Myles Palmer, reactionary article, filled with speculation and lacking in thought. He churns these articles out every other week, and then when we play well, he talks about sexy football and our great kids and obviously about he had pointed all this out to us several months ago.
Obviously, he will also refer to his book and how wonderful it is and how it is only £1.34 at Amazon.
I used to laugh at the ridiculous caricature of ANR by Leopold Mendacious on arseblog’s website, but now I can’t tell them apart.
Geoff – re the great gigs. They were great – in Myles’ head.
It’s not going to take a week to sort out, it’s going to be gradual, Van Persie and Adebayor should be back for Man City and hopefully we’ll have a more settled team, create some chances, have a midfield that knows what it’s doing together.
We’re not going to see everything click together like the United game, because even if we did it wouldn’t mean anything, we haven’t played a consistent first team this season, injuries aren’t helping and we’re going to have to start with small steps first.
Even if we don’t win, as long as show some sort of cohesion against City it’d be something, we need all the help we can get right now, Dunne got himself sent off a week ago and Drogba done well by getting himself a 3 match ban.
chary… michaels inside knowledge is all thats keeping me going!! i was thinking about it almost as soon as i woke up hoping it was true!!! and thinking who it could be!!!
zapata
arshavin
inler/alonso/barry/cana??
These are the mistakes since 2004;
Pires should have been given a 2 year extension, watch him now at villareal
Gilberto should have had this season as his last
Flamini was told last summer,no contract extension son
buys a rebel in diarra who had poblems at chelsea with the same demands
should have bought given for 3 million, though i know some disagree
Why loan senderos out now,he ain’t great but the timing was to say the least strange.
giving Ade 85K instead of selling him for a realisti 20million,or say we will give you a small rise and if you perform well this season we will renogiate.
not buying Anelka for 10 million in jan,and swallow you fucking pride wenger
SWP was good value at 9 million.
okay not everyones choice but for little money we could have had a bit of experience short term
ATom – you’re right. If you compare the present players individually to the ‘Invincibles’ there may be 1 or 2 who could have displaced a player in that side, but even that is debatable.
Like Pedro said. Its time to seive through the club and rid of the garbage. If we get like 10 youngsters off the wage bill now we can then sign a few established players then slowly blood in the the yougsters. If Wenger believes in Nordveit then why keep Senderos around or vice versa. We still have Djourou waiting in the wings to get games. What is the deal with Toure and Song. How can we have 5 centre backs and none can solve our aerial problems. For me I would rather buy a Shirt for £34.99 that would last me forever from Jermyn Street than 7 from Primark at £5 each. Quality over quantity anytime. We know who he should keep and who he should throw away why bring in Coquelin to the club when u know he wldnt be ready for another two-three years. It doesnt make sense
blood in the good ones I meant **
dennisdamenace – They won’t dock wages because it’d only make it worse, I can’t see no easy, quick solutions to this and if they get their wages docked and don’t perform for the next game either what would they do then ?!
They need to start doing the simple things again and start from scratch, be that bit more defensive if needs be and I’m beginning to sound like an England manager but do the simple things first ?!
Barry, Sidwell and Petrov were clever the way they went around, organised and I won’t say snide but their experience showed, they didn’t do anything special just got in their faces, broke up play, gave away the lesser fouls and sucked up to the ref who bought their pleas.
Denilson, Diaby, Nasri, Walcott need to learn from that and do the same.
Surely someone has some good news about Arsenal today?????
Even Wenger is moaning about things…now its the international break that is the problem!
Atleast 1 person hasnt written us off yet…..Mr JT no less!!
Fab 4 I was saying that ANR are wankers, they are so up themselves they think they are the voice of Arsenal, they always had a pop at us, no fucker reads their pieces so they’ve decided to now write like us, I just thought they were funny, poachers turned game keepers, but still wankers!
Keyser once a year, Rico I heard you and I like him but he’s very softly spoken and I think Keown is more of a nutter, what we need, and intelligent nutter.
michael… jt is probably taking the piss with what he said…
any more inside info?
We have the fastest attack in the country with no space to run into
And three slow midfielders Fabregas, Denilson, Song. who are often camped outside the opponents penalty area, who are too slow too defend when the opponents break.
Leaving our centre halfs exposed.
We probably have the players at the club but Wenger needs a change of tactics..
Maybe the most effective thing the club could do at the moment would be to bury the hatchet and bring back David Dein in some capacity.
He could bring together the disparate elements, reduce Arsene’s workload and also offer him advice that he would respect and act upon. But if the board are just building up to what they hope will be an enormous pay day, this will not happen.
A-Tom…..mate, after seeing my contact yesterday, I have hope.
He says that we are definately buying some experienced internationals in Jan….
All I can say is that I will remain positive and looking forward to the January transfers!!
Things are going to get uglier and uglier.
Man City will beat us on Sunday. Absolutely no doubt.
The only option is. Remove Denilson, remove Diaby, put on Walcott on the bench.
Wenger has to go in January and buy those players he’s been keeping an eye on and not talk about them in two or three years time and say “yes, we were interested but…”
hi chary – me too, i hope his source is a very very very reliable one
Paulinho…..I really cant see City beating us….why??? Because, we simply have to perform now we have the likes of Villa breathing down our necks!!!
Wotcha charry – I don’t wanna piss on your chips mate, but i take ALL news from our club with a huge pinch of salt, whether it’s official or in this case unofficial, basically AW & Co wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him of the fucking arse, sorry to be so negative Michael P, but we’re dealing here with the same who brazenly boasted about having 2/3 signings of quality before the Euro 2008 competition had started. Does AW and the club take some pride out of mugging off their own fans, wankers! If we do sign 3 experienced, international players in January you can put money on it that they will be U21 players for Kazakhstan, Namibia and Borneo………..
dennis – yep, i forgot the poor fans, a refund would be good idea, and at the players expense, but three points would have been so much nicer, eh – lazy good for nothing overpaid gits! (this week anyway
)
Geoff – Keown can’t go round nutting people as much as I’d love that.. Actually I’ve always said that’s what we need more violence, we’re too nice, forget the respect campaign we should go out on the pitch and harass the living daylights out of them all.
Adebayor didn’t have much of an impact but at least he pushed a couple of defenders around and tried to use his strength, Bendtner needs to realise just how big he is.
We could shove Toure up front he’d batter a few people.
Bould’s quiet, but you don’t always need to be vocal to get people to believe in you.
rasputin, i hope it happens sooner rather than later… once hill-wood and co have gone wenger can get dein back in doing what he did before…
wenger should ask to have dein work free-lance for him getting players etc, that way dein wouldn’t have to deal with the board
Usmanov is still snapping up the spare shares!
He’s just bought another 149 last month!!!
On another note, can anyone explain to me what RvP has done or achieved to warrant an £80,000 a week contract???? Apart from possibly threatening to go elsewhere if he doesn’t get it………….
whos gonna play RB?? kolo? they are gonna have to keep robinho quiet if u wanna stand a chance and enilson needs to stick to ireland all game
DDM maybe hes got a loyalty reward for keeping rosicky company for so long last year!!
i dunno what he’s on now but 80k is a huge amount… surely 50/60k is more sensible
Michael, it doesn’t matter that we have to perform. We’re simply not good enough and contrary to alot of opinion, we will be alot worse without Fabregas. Maybe it’s a good thing though. After this game people won’t be going on about Denilson ‘outshining’ Fabregas.
This is only the start of the collapse. Remember it was around in a months time this time last year that the team went into a collective depression that was briefly averted by the unlikely comeback at Everton. Before then we bombed at Boro, Newcastle, and got very lucky at home to Spurs.
We haven’t even got to that stage yet. Things could improve if the likes of Ramsay replicate their carling cup form into the first team but that is a tough ask.
I agree about Ramsey Paulinho.
and they seem Veloso or De la Red are DM pure, affordable maybe his handicap is the experience ..
I think that wenger go to buy in january, but who? or what position?
keyser – agreed about docking the wages, but something has to be done, and as it would appear the only motivation for these overpaid prima donnas is money, then hit them where it hurts……..
I personally think we will be fine. A question to ask….would Arsenal be better off without Wegner? and the answer is no in my opinion! we have the talent, if consistency is what we are lacking then I can accept it for now. Look at the bright future we have ahead. No team can touch the talent we have. This team WILL come good at some stage. Cesc will return to his best. Take the positives from the United game. If we can beat Chelsea and Liverpool and get back to beating entreched opposition we will survive this. Have faith in Wegner, he has never let us down. Right now the team got the kick in the ass they needed from the fans..the ball is in their court but I will concede we need to make the midfield more defensive but its not new players its formation. Cesc and Denilson cannot be played together.
Sub standard performances, lame arsed excuses, over paid players, average nobodies in Arsenal shirts, bull shit after bull shit from the club with one member of the AFC heirachy contradicting another one, AFC mugging us off financially at every turn, the manager and players calling for more support to get behind the players and create an great atmosphere only for those orange coated fuckwits threatening you with eviction if you don’t sit down, the manager blaming everything from the referee to the negative tactics of the opponents to the fans for the fact that his team ain’t fucking good enough is not only disillusioning and distancing me from Arsenal Football Club, but football in general………..
well said Dennnis!
When Man U and Chelsea start a match, they just want to win and get 3 points knowing that at the end of the season they all add up.
We seem to go out in a relaxed, we’ll finish in the top 4 win lose or draw attitude.
Losing to Hull and Fulham etc Wenger needed to kick ass, but the whole team are getting used to being mediocre now.
We need a injection of the best kids. Ramsey, Wilshere and even Simpson needs a go!!
so much negativity boys!!!! its not good!!!
Michael P – Please enlighten me as to what we’ve currently got to be positive about?
And me!
So we can’t think of one single thing to be positive about ?!
Paulinho,i beg to differ about it not mattering that we need to perform.
The fact that Cesc is missing shouldnt really be a blow at the moment because, lets face it, hes not performing at the moment.
Ramsey, I feel, is very capable of slotting into midfield and alongside….wait for it…..Randall….because he is better suited to the DM role, and is a better tackler. Ina 5 man midfield, with Ade up front, I really think it is worth a go…with the following midfield….
Walcott–Ramsay–Randall—Nasri
————–Diaby—————
I would pat myself on the back if i didnt feel so distraught and downbeat about the whole thing.I have seen this coming for seasons .I always get a buzz around august when the season is about to start but this time around i just couldnt get up to it.What really hit the last nail in the coffin was when Wenger stated that he didnt need another centreback and went and called Song the next big thing in our centre he even gave what must be one of his worst signings ever a renewed contract. I really like Wenger he is a gentleman among vultures and chavs but i find myself so feed up with his spin that lately i have turned the tv off or switched channel…….not a good sign.
Colonel Mustard I’m going to give you another chance to come on here but abide by the rules, if there is any confusion it’s top right on our home page, go and read it, we are all friends here and everyone gets a second chance.
keyser – I can! I’m off to New York in a couple of weeks, and i’ll probably miss another inept performance as we’re at home to Wigan while i’m away……..
We have the best youngsters in the whole world!
The future is bright!!!
AND, Im telling you, we WILL be buying some talented experienced players in Jan…100%!!!!!
We are looking good in the CC and also the CL…..on our day we can beat anyone….and we will, IMO, win TWO CUPS this year…..mark my words…
Bring Dein back, and everything (incl. Wenger) will be put to place.
Michael P – We NEEDED to perform at the weekend, and look what happened. When you look atthe teams we’ve lost to or dropped points from, that’s bad enough, but more worryingly look at the nature of the performances of those losses……….
Michael P – On our day!! That about sums us up these days, winning the league is about being consistant, what’s the point of beating anyone on our day, but then losing to anyone when it’s not our day, especially as those days are becoming more frequent!
good Post Geoff. like i said few days ago weneed some Honesty from our club.
somthing we havent had in a long time.
and ANR’s artical was spot on aswell.
im to annoyed to even think about arsenal some times.
Michael Pittordis,
Yeah, you jinxed it my friend.
Remember even with Invincibles, we had the quality, but not the tactical nous to win the ECL under Wenger. And it’s lack of managerial qualities like motivation, and getting his players ready for the big games. I remember the countless chances we missed in both the european finals, and our players sulked like losers. Let’s not forget how joker Almunia let two near post goals. I wonder how Wenger sticks with, and trusts these failures.
i’ll be a good boy..scouts honour
Gooner07
we have missed David Dein big time id love him back at the club but not with that Alisher Usmanov tho.
Denis – in the mood we’re in nowadays it probably pays to take a pessimistic atrtitude to developments at the ex-Dial Square Fc.
A Tom – I need something to keep mew going to the new year and will be crossing everything come Jan 1 2009.
Michael P – time will tell, but will I have lost the will to live by then though !
afternoon grovers
Gooner07…Almunia is fallible like any keeper but HE did save a penalty Saturday to give us a chance. He has his faults but is improving. I agree with the point that it the midfield being overrun is putting pressure on the defense and keeper.
The problem in these situations is that the parts of the team that are usually strong and dependable start to buckle. So, when we think one of part of the team is showing improvement, another part of the engine starts stuttering. We’re seeing that with Clichy and Fabregas.
It’s remarkable how fragile and fine tuned a team has to be. Valencia last year were languishing in the bottom half of the spanish league but with a few pragmatic adjustments during the summer they are doing well.
Raif,
He has split with Usmanov. Right time to appoint him as a CEO. We miss him big time, and he has contacts with every organization, FA, UEFA, etc. He knows the right people, and his negotiation skills are far better. He is Arsenal through and through, and would never let us down. Besides, I don’t remember our team being screwed by Refs this badly when Dein was with us. Dein had authority and respected by FA.
Danish – I’m at the point too, i used to listen intently to what AW had to say, particularly after a game, but now i can’t bare to hear the same old tired crap, particularly when HE bemoans our lack of experience when it was HE who chose the players……..and i’m getting fucking embarassed to hear him drone on about how it was everyone elses fault that we lost………..again!
@ Arsenal Tom.
What inside knowledge are you talking about?
afternoon le grove
even though dein wanted us to play at wembley,
im starting to think the club took a downward slide since he left.
i used to love the passion in which he used when speaking about the Arsenal!
im not sure how to feel about him or come to think of it the board of mangerment.
wenger has to get the house in order and quickly.
afternoon pascal
That’s good Colonel Mustard, welcome back!
Gooner07
i had no idea he split with Usmanov. thats good news.
but would the board really want him back?? maybe they would but wouldnt take him back just to avoid looking like pricks for saking him in the first place.
as at the time he tried to get Stan Kronke on board but that fell flat ending his time at arsenal. fast foword a year or so and Stan is now on the Board at arsenal. truly shocking indeed.
Le Grove
I agree with most of what has been said in both yours and Myles Parmers posts…with exception to the Gary Lewin bit. Gary Lewin left for personal reasons…from what i have heard he was a bit of a ladies man and got caught.
Afternoon All.
Glad to see the position of Pat Rice and other coaching staff being called into question. I have mentioned this a few times over the last number of weeks. Wenger needs a new strong vocal right hand mind – preferably someone with an excellent insight into defending (Martin Keown ?????)
If you feel dispondent and want to make a difference, send a fax with your thoughts to Arsenal FC at 020 704 4001. It will take 5 minutes. Enough faxes will make a difference.
Finally, we have talked about Alonso and Barry and why Wenger did not buy either. I would ask why we did not put in an offer for Marouane Fellaini who joined Everton from Standard Liege. Fellaini was the stand out player for Liege earlier this year when they nearly knocked Liverpool out of the CL. He is a big strong CM who scores goals and is only 21. He cost 12m. Could we not affoard that ???? The performance of Everton has improved since his arrival.
Oh, Stephen McManus – the Celtic & Scotland centre half could do a job for us at the back. Only 26 and wins headers for fun.
Gooner07 – I seem to recall us being diddled by refs big time when the Orange one was still with us, because all the other clubs would accuse Dein of using his influence.
We’ll always be marked out for special(e.g. we consistently have one of the lowest fouls per yellow card of any of the PL teams) treatment because we are The Arsenal.
We have to live with this as the media/Fa’s love affair woith the Manks/Bindippers shows no sign of finishing.
Bit of a ladies man and got caught……trying to put his moves on Karen Carney. Gee, learn something new everyday
well I don’t know when but I also gave up on listening to what wenger has to say before and after the games or at any time for that matter..i used to watch it with interest at one time!
So it’s universally true. I’m mighty frustrated with AW, and all the excuses burns my blood. Yeah “a disappointed love”. More like AW being a moron these days. He insults my intelligence when he says he can’t purchase someone better than what we’ve got. He could have at least got youngsters who can fill Vieira’s boots, but no he could only find Diaby, who is anything but Vieira. Or he goes for his under-17 purchases like Coquelin. All this makes me hate AW even more.
And his persistence to poor Frenchies like Cygan, Silvestre, Diaby, etc makes me doubt his credibility. His reluctance to play Djourou, Vela, etc and his adamance to stick with Almunia, Eboue, etc. I detest the guy at the thought of it.
I like him for what he done in the past, and perhaps for our future, but I hate him for neglecting our “present” when he could so easily rectify the situation. We don’t want big money for that, but certainly affordable buys doesn’t strike him, whicn confirms me he is deluded and worries about his children. But pray tell me how necessary purchase wouldn’t improve these younger players. I could only see them improving and compete for places. If he thinks this will underwhelm them, then these players aren’t sure of their ability themselves. But no, the problem is, Wenger! He wants to be a “messiah”, but no, he is NOT. He needs to swallow his pride, and his fantasies, and start working to help the club. That is his priority!
DDM and Gooner 07…how NEGATIVE can you guys get????
The terms “energy vampires” and “mood hoovers” spring to mind!!!
Please DO NOT go to our next game if you’re gonna be like this!!!
yea Bren..Fellaini/Kompany could have done for me!
Michael Pittordis..how POSITIVE can you get????
Lewin left because he was offered a nice little earner by the FA a fraction of the hours for more money who wouldn’t go. His nephew gets his job and everyones happy at Casa Lewin.
The fact is that with some fine-tuning in January, we can grow better and move forward.
Im still backing us to win 2 cups this season, I really am.
You can lok at it in 1 of two ways:
1…Its still only November and there are over 6 months and 20+ games to play in the league, with a transfer window coming up soon, with time to get the season back on track
or
2….It’s only November and we are doomed!!!
Too many are looking at things with option 2 in their mind!!
Xeeez…you aint seen nothing yet.
hey good to see M.P still living in a fantasy world.this current team will deliver absolutely 0 trophys fact.the board and the management are to blame fact
Finetuning? We need to send our team to pimp my ride!
I reckon Gary lewin weighed it up like this:
£500k for Arsenal, dealing with crocks all day long.
£500k for England, dealing with injuries once a month.
lol @ paulinho..
Michael Pittordis .. we all hope we win something but it doesn’t look bloody likely
3z… ask michael pittordis… its his knowledge….
Pedro
HAHAHA its funny the way you put it like that.
but its nothing more then the truth in actual fact. he jumped ship Bcos he new somthing was wrong with us Big Time!
Michael P – Don’t take that tone with me boy. The trouble is i can distinquish between supporting Arsenal Football Club and calling a spade a spade by berating certain individuals who run and or play for MY club. Just because i don’t wet myself in anticipation at your “privileged insider information” and think everything is fucking wonderful doesn’t give you the right to cast judgement on me! And, for your information i will continue to go to watch MY team rand not seek the approval of some self opinionated mug……….
BBK….you should have bben an Arsenal fan pre-G.Graham…you would have slit your wrists!! Cant wait to catch up with you end of the season, when we will have won something!
I’ll keep the faith, back the TEAM and judge at the end of the season…simple as that.
Keeper : Promote fabianski or buy Akinfeev, Landreau or Nueue(Schalke)
Defender : Zapata, Servit Cetin(as suggested by GoonerForum’sBlog) or an Italian guy (maybe Barzagli), anyone who can defend or is willing to but themselves on the line
Def-mid : Felaini(everton), Cana, Yaya, Alonso, Inler, Kompany etc etc the list goes on..
Striker : Our strikers now are good when fit and on top form but, aside from Vela and Eduardo, are pretty wasteful in front of goal.
Villa, Santa, Huntelaar etc
There are many options and i might be getting ahead of myself with the transfer window quite far away but still…
The aformentioned players will no doubt have gone up in price since the summer along with the fact that the clubs will be very reluctant to let their players go. Strikers are expensive and we already have those in abbundance. Midfielders are vital to any ambitious team so why would anyone either want to or be allowed to join us. And defenders, read defenders are hard to come by in this atack minder football era.
Fingers crossed tho!
And, while we’re slinging terms at each other, does the term “attention seeker” spring to your mind……….
DDM – quiet down mate, i’ll take any tone i want….know one said you would wet yourself at my news, im just saying what i know. believe it or not. Im not casting judgement….it was a question.
and going by your views, you are the mug….
DDM and Michael, time out. Michael you started it by saying don’t go to the next game. That’s the end and get back to slagging the board!
Wenger should be blamed. He would have convinced the board his crazy experiment would succeed. No, not with this set of players. You’re telling me Song, Denilson and Diaby could fill our CM spot? Honestly? I know talent when I see one. Vieira at 19/20 was a talent. Cesc at 17 looked a stunning prospect. Could someone honestly tell me we could rely on Song, Denilson and Diaby could cut it in the top level – CL and PL>? NO! And Wenger says he trusts his youngsters. So let him tell us his magic hat in sticking with Clowns like Almunia and Silvestre? When we already have better bets in Fabianski and Djourou. And Arsene couldn’t see the fully ripe talent of Vela, and still believes Bendtner will do a better job for us. He made Eduardo play left while Ade as the main striker. He played RVP in the left in many games after countless failures. He plays Diaby everywhere except CM, then comes an article that he is a Vieira hire from Wenger himself. He made Theo forget his forward qualities, and made him a half-baked winger, who can’t control the ball, or run with it pass players. Honestly, all this makes me doubt our manager is a RAfa benitez! Sure, Wenger would make you believe Walcott is progressing. Nah! I saw Walcott score couple of amazing theirry-esque goals as the main striker for England under-21. His finishing is top class, and his pace would trouble any defender. He should play in the center.
Akinfeev. i like him. how much would it cost to get him?
Cana, Yaya, Alonso (Yes Please) we had a Perfect chance to get all of them before the season now it will be impossible to get any of them unless we pay over the odds.
Villa (All Day Long) will never happen and not for the kind of money his club are asking for him or would ask for him.
so my guess is. WE SIGN NO ONE
Afternoon Pedro/Geoff and Le Grovers!
I see David Dein has been mentioned. I’d like him back, for sure. (That sounded like Steve McLaren!!!)
I wrote a post about it in early September and I really feel Arsenal would benefit from him coming back.
The board and him should let bygones be bygones because it would benefit the club with his return.
I know he sold his shares to the fat Russian or whatever he is but there is no doubt in my mind that he loves the club.
Get him back at COE and let Wenger concentrate on his job again, managing Arsenal because him juggling the two isn’t working.
Hi Wrighty, my post tomorrow is all about that, you’ll enjoy it with views like that, I agree though.
I don’t believe second hand hearsay from random punters, i believe what i see with my own eyes. And, if you’re right i will be big enough to apologise. Until then i will believe what i see with my own eyes, a club devoid of leadership, direction and ambition, except the ambition to accumulate money at the expense of the playing side of the “business” and it breaks my heart to see what my club has become and the ingrates that now appear as Arsenal supporters when they should really change the fucking badge again and have a picture of AW insted of a cannon.
I accept your opinion, but not your gossip, if you can’t accept my opinion then that’s your prerogative. However, if you keep talking down to me then maybe we could take this ‘conversation’ off line……..
hi there wrighty7
what i dont get about our Board is why sack Double-D for trying to bring in Stan Kronke and end up inviting him in with the board some time down the line?
i dunno maybe Bcos Dein tried it on the sneek or maybe Bcos the fat russian wasnt sniffing round our club at the time?
What i dont get is why the board fucked Dein out because he wanted the board to meet Stan Kroenke but not Stan is on the board. That just makes no sense to me.
Nice one Geoff, I look forward to reading it as always mate!
Hello Raif, the situation is now quite laughable. The man Dein linked up with, Stan Kronke, is now accepted at Arsenal and Dein is still an outcast!
I cant get my head around it!
I reckon in respect of Geoff we should continue the conversation about Dein tomorrow when Geoff publishes a post on the situation!
Til’ tomorrow!
DDM, im not talking down to you and i respect your opinion, like i do everyone elses.
It’s obvious we’re ‘debating’ for the good of the club, and that is fine with me….
and re: the ‘offline’ bit….my friend, i teach ken-po….its all good! lol
Hi Wrighty7 – is that the Orange one back as Lord Sebastian ?
I think we should start a petition, or something which will get our opinions noticed!
Any ideas????
DDM and Michael,
Calm down fellas!
Have a virtual handshake and forget about it. We’re all Gooners here.
Just want to say that ye are debating but its not really for the good of the club because no matter what is said or suggested on this or any site, nothing going to be done about it. Nothing here will ever make it to the top of the board.
Michael, DDM not another word!
Ha ha Chary,
Perhaps if the board bought Dein a sun-bed all will be forgotten!!
Michael P – Well for what it’s worth i apologise if i offended you, and totally agree about the ‘debating for the good of the club’, and in my defence i’m just so throughly down at the moment, but will pick up again as we get nearer another match day.
As for Ken-Po, isn’t that some sort of Cantonese chicken dish??
Hello!
Stu and Raif- I would love to see us buying few players who can improve our team. Zapata will be off to Turin in january( I read it on Polish Juventus sites), Cana- I pray we will get him, but D. Moyes can be faster, and probably will be. Alonso-he is fighing for the 1st place, not 4th like we. Yaya- why should he leave a club like Barcelona. They are destroying teams, and we can’t even win against Stoke. Just a sad reality. I love Arsenal and always be, but it’s all Wenger’s fault.
if we do sign a player in the JAN-TRAN Window im going to pour melted butter into a glass of beer and drink it. then post it on YouTube
or maybe i should do that if we win somthing.
Corny puns are all I have left to keep me smiling at the moment – the first team aren’t doing it that’s for sure.
good afternoon fellas…..
what a disappointing weekend!!!!!
this fucking season is turning out just like 2006-2007 season…we can beat big teams but are getting done by shit teams….
DDM – Full support mate. I agree and feel every bit the way you do !!
Raif,
Do any youth cups count???
Stu but it does, they read this site, I promise you.
And what’s better?
To have Cana and Gattuso or Song, Diaby, Denilson?
Silvestre and Gallas or Cuellar and Davis?
Adebayor and Bendtner or Villa
Our players just don’t care. It’s hard to forget our players behaviour.
Wrighty7
lol.. ermm i didnt think of that. ill have to say
NO.!!!
Well done Dennis!
What do you teach Ken then Michael, are you a language teacher? I’m learning Spanish, though slowly so if you can help there!
Maybe we should really sign Appiah. He can’t be worse than everything we have at the moment.
raif – i will join you, i will drink a half pint of cold onion gravy mixed with a half pint of…………..i tell you what, any Grovers out there care to recommend what i could mix my half pint o’ onion gravy with to make a suitable January cocktail??
Wrighty the last one of those was 2001 Steven Sidwell was the captain!
ddm…it tastes good!
I apologise for any offence caused also.
I blame Wenger and the board for our frustrations!
Well done Michael!
dennisdamenace
try vinegar? Melted Cheese? haha
but i promise you if we do win somthing or sign a player depending on what i decide ill do it haha
MP – I cordially invite you to suggest what i should add to my onion gravy for my January Doubting Thomas drink, please be gentle………
Fucking hell raif, you sir are barking!
Geoff,
Bloody hell! 2001?! Sidwell as skipper?!!
Looks like your safe then Raif!
DDM, if you were a Northener you could have Chips with your gravy!
Actually raif, was that vinegar AND melted cheese??
dennisdamenace
actully yeah i think thats a Decent Mix to say the least.
Wrighty – As a drink????
No wonder Northerner’s talk bollocks all the time!
DDM…that, good sir, is compleetly up to you. Whatever makes you feel good and slides down the gullet smoothly..
So, let me get this straight, if we buy an experienced player with international experience in January i will be drinking a pint of cold onion gravy mixed with vinegar and melted cheese………….! You know i always knew signing into this madhouse would have a payback day!!
yes you will!!!
hope to see you in january!!!
I’m sooooo fucked!
I’ve seen it with my own eyes DDM.
They have chips and gravy as a drink and beer on a plate.
You know, i’ve suddenly got a very bad feeling about this……….
dennisdamenace
hahaha thats a crazy name for a drink indeed. will you come up with a name for it?
im going to drink Melted Butter pourd into a Half Pint of Beer
Wrighty – You sure that they weren’t Australians…………ha ha ha!!
i mean…. thats a crazy drink indeed. will you come up with a name for it?
raif – i’d like to christen my drink the “You Have Got To Be Shitting Me”……..
DDm, onion gravey mixed with jack daniels, that will put hairs on your bollocks !!!
I’d like to add some marmite to this drink, if i may, ddm??
dennisdamenace
hahaha
ill have to call mine. AKFA JUICE
“Arsene Knows Fuck All Juice”
Pierre – I suggest you re-read the last few posts, you’ll find a drink that’ll cause all the hairs on your bollocks to fall out fella!!
it actully sound funny when u say the name as it sound
AKFA Juice
MP – You’re not a Northerner are you?? Marmite is for eating, Bovrill’s for drinking!!
fk me, can you actually drink cheese?
Actually Marmite’s not a bad shout, i mean it’ll end up being a very nutritious meal. Just what you need before a long hard day on the Peroni’s………
All this talk of disgusting drinks is making me ill………………….
I’m gonna make a cup of tea with some baileys to help me get over it……..;)
DDM, if there are no hairs on the bollocks, it wont tickle AW’s throat so much when he talks a load of them.
well lads im going to get a move on so ill check back on tonight.
take it easy Fellas
DDM – I think the melted cheese that’s drinkable is that fondue cheese stuff – I ordered it at a restaurant by mistake and imagined my arteries closing shut as I gulped it.
chary – Thanks for that mate, i can’t wait for January to come around now…….
For me, if we ever win anything or sign any decent players in the January transfer window, I will propose to Hilary Clinton!!!!!!!!!!
kunle – I think rather than propose, i think you should go down on her!
I actually feel quite bilious after that last comment…….
DDM, thats just wrong in so many ways. you should be ashamed.
ddm…not a northerner mate…north londoner!!!
and yes, my suggestion for marmite was to bring some nutrition your way sir!
Happy to be of service DDM.
I suppose going down on Hilary is a bit like kissing Abraham Lincoln.
stu – i know, i’m so very sorry…….
There is a poll on TGF’s Blog either getting rid of AW or Trusting him. Believe it or not the majority have picked “trust”, but then again that site is usually full of AKBs
chary – i’d have it down as being more like snogging a 14 year old labrador dog!!
chary – You can just picture Hilary Clinton’s chuff being like a labrador’s jaw!
You can bet Hilary won’t be even be a brazilian DDM, let alone a californian.
Oh dear, I feel sordid now.
I feel violated.
Get off this topic before someone wrecks their keyboard! Shame on whoever started this.
Moving swiftly on….I think Geoff must be right about the club monitoring the feeling amongst fans to some extent.
Any coprorate entity is constantly keeping tabs on it’s stakeholders so it’d make sense for them to at least have an awareness of the prevailing mood.
It just doesn’t seem like they are acting on the feedback they get and hence the reason some of the bloggers here feeling it’s all an excercise in futility voicing an opinion.
charyb.. a very valid point.. I am sure the club takes feedback.. after all it is because of the fans that the club exists and the higher management can afford swank lifestyles!
Anyone here have an idea how much wages KJH gets a week?
huntelaar? stu?
Chary trust me, I’m in the game and they pay people to read every and anything that’s published, take Le Grove, we are Arsenal fans, we are season ticket holders and we are shareholders, that ticks every box for them, oh and I’m in the marketing industry so I know more than they do, so they’ll read it.
Dennis you need to drink that shit for making me think of going down on a democrat!
What does Michael forfeit is we sign no one?
Dont you just hate cos when they publish a headline with false hopes. EG Arsenal set for £25m striker bid.
That to me means that we are lining up a bid but it is real lining a bid up for Ade, really gets my hopes up then quashes them just as fast. I should really know better tho.
Logically, Choy, it must be true, but the way our confidence in the club has been shaken lately you do wonder.
On the up side Drog the dog has got a 3 match ban for violent conduct so we won’t have him to worry about Saturday week.
Plus Rambo has got his first full Wales cap. Just hope he doesn’t come back crocked !
Choy, yes Huntelaar, does he have lower wages than Ade. Surely he must because there isnt that much money in Holland and Ade is getting over paid.
huntelaar could be the new dirk kuyt or geezer who played for chelsea after scoring 45 a season in holland
they still got anelka.. he likes to score against us too!
A goalscorer is a goalscorer. Huntelaar is am instinctive finisher. Kuyt just always runs his bollocks off.
Would you rather ade or Hunt?
Someone who runs a bit, is a greedy bastard, smiles after he misses a sitter at 0-0 and is an all round cunt, or
someone who might not run a lot but when the balls falls to him you can be sure he will put it in the back of the net. KJH scores loads for Ajax and loads for Holland.
I know who i’ld chose.
he is the captain of ajax.. and he scores on the international stage too!!
adebayor.. oh god..he’s on some 80k isn’t it…
it dont matter who id rather have, its november, were stuck with what weve got!
Kuyt is a very very hardworking player.. a bit like flamini.. and he is currently liverpool’s top scorer… he maybe lacking in ability.. but his commitment and drive cannot be questioned… Wish i could say the same about our players!
yeah but would u pay 18 million pound for kuyt? its no coincidence that hunterlaar is still at ajax
no doubt a brave manager will sign him, then they will either be praised or made a mockery of
we can dream bergkamp.. we can dream.. when reality is a bitter pill we can dream
Wenger knows there’s holes in the squad, heres the proof:
he said in the run up to the beginning of the season “we are 1 or 2 bodies short” (and didnt sign anyone)
We know he tried to sign certain players who would have slotted in those holes (alonso, inler etc)
he’s not an idiot, he can see we are massively missing flamini
So why didnt he sign anyone? my guess is he couldnt get 1 of the 2 or 3 players he wanted at that time so instead of signing any old person he decided to hold out. And missed them on deadline day. a misake in hindsight
so why doesnt he come out and say it? simple, that would undermine the players on the pitch who are trying to fill that role, on top of that wenger likes to make his signings on the sly so as not to get into a bidding war.
This is my theory, lets see if im right in January
lol choy i hear u,i used to get so worked up over signings but now i just say thens the window, wat will be will be,im stuck with arsenal,i cannot be transfered so watever will be will be,but id take huntelar veloso an arjen robben or wesley sneider any week
add sergio ramos to that list too
Topgooner sorry mate you were in moderation, you’re out now so welcome to our world!
RVN played in Holland and scored goals.. Didn’t make him a crap player!
when you can pay 15 mill for bentley.. 18 mill for kuyt is a steal!
i agree wenger played roullette on the final day of the transfer deadline thinkin by holding out he could save a couple mill,i did read that veloso could have joined a top 4 london team (not chelsea) but it was 20 to twelve an he didnt wanna make a decision on moving his family in 15 minutes
Huntelaar scored the first goal at the Grove, I think RVP will become one of the greats, maybe teaming him up with Huntelaar wpuld have the same effect as Xabi and Cesc or bring in Villa.
Fucking hell anyone!!!
kuyt has been top notch this year… he works his socks off and has scored plenty.
kezman is the bloke someone mentioned as scoring 45 and yes he was toilet.
huntelaar is behind nistle for holland and doesnt play ruud is fit
if someone was gonna get him now is the time cos he will have had dennis coaching him for a year
rvn, yeah he did well, but he was better than huntelar an scoring goals in every competition regular and for country, huntelar hasnt hit them heights
im not sayin that huntelar is useless,im sayin its no coincidence that all the teams in the big leagues sayin they need a striker obviously dont rate him high enough to risk buyin him for that money
Velosa is another I would have but he fucked about with him too, if they are good enough to enquire about, pay the money, Song’s worth shit whatever you pay him.
Jesus we could probably sell £60mil of young’uns that we wouldn’t miss, anyone thought of telling Wenger that?
geoff im not so happy with van persie,he slows the game down whenever he gets the ball, plays too deep and is so one sided
But they haven’t gone for Villa or Velosa either and we know they’re top notch.
i still think the most important thing for us is the dm,someone to plug the gaps when defenders get caught forward, its nice having two bentleys in the garage but when youve got 1 cesc you dont need another,we need another sierra(flamini)
So tell he to stay up top Bergkamp.
rvp is hardly fit and gets himself red carded when we need him the most… and he s negotiating a new 80k a week contract!!!
yeah but geoff,we dont need huntelaar ,if we get veloso the players will be left alone to play, not water carrying coz theres no flamini
Geoff he isnt natural enough to stay up top,rvp is a bad finisher,1 on 1 he is likely to kill someone in the upper tear
We must agree to disagree then.
This is what Bendtner just said.
The 20-year-old striker, who is away on international duty with Denmark this week, has made 15 appearances this season and is now looking to move up the pecking order ahead of Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor. He said: “So far this season I haven’t played as much as I would have liked. But I’m sure it will come and I’ll keep working hard in training.”
What must Wenger tell him, ‘great game Nik’
not to mention villa costing 30 mill an not wanting to leave, thats why he is where he is geoff
Geoff it was a great game compared to rvp’s contribution, rvp is more guilty than anyone of the forwards
veloso doesnt make it into the portugal team, and is another one like huntelaar… if he’s that good why is he still at a relatively small club in world terms
villa said come and get me.. wenger said.. thank you and gave ade a raise.. villa signed a new contract.. end of!
nik up front against man united did a job he shouldnt have been asked to do because he had to,against villa wenger played the same formation an showed them too much respect,he invited them to come out an kill us by playin that formation, should have been 442
choy dont believe what you read, villa never invited no one to come an get him because its never that simple! his club said he is not for sale
Against Man U Nik should have got on the end of 2 easyish headers and he couldn’t hit a barn door.
But he run around a lot!
“I watch the Premier League a lot and the team I’m most attracted to is definitely Arsenal.
“Their brilliant one and two-touch football and the whole style of rapid counter-attack which dominates the top level of the Premier League now is the one that suits my game best of all.”
Villa would cost any prospective buyer somewhere in the region of £20 million though after the immediate success of compatriot Fernando Torres at Liverpool such an outlay may not be considered a gamble.
“I think I’m made to succeed in England,” said Villa, “but of course it is one thing saying it and quite another getting there and then doing it.
“The Valencia president always told me he wouldn’t sell me until summer 2008. If an offer comes in I’m hungry to test myself in England.”
Its not a simple defensive midfielder we need, flamini was not JUST a defensive midfielder, he was EVERYWHERE. when we threw gilberto into the mix last season it ruined our game. This is why Wenger is having trouble finding a signing, because it is a very particular and rare type of player we need.
i think this season he could have shown a bit MORE faith in the youngsters (i know i know) and let Ramsey start against Villa or maybe even before that. Djourou should be given his chance now too, he looks good enough
Sorry Geoff, consider it done!
Villa said he dreams of playing for Arsenal, Wenger said it was nice to hear a top player like that saying that, but he didn’t want to hamper his teams growth and said ‘I have Vela next season’ he forgot to say he wouldn’t be playing him though.
choy i bet if you showed that to david villa he would have never have seen it before
lol u lot read the sun far too much
choy its actually upsetting to read that and then to think we did nothing about it, he must be looking at us now thinking ‘thank fuck i didnt end up going there’
Season not yet over. Last season we were 8points ahead of Mancs and they overtook us in March and Chelsea did also. We will win a quadruple!!! The mancs, Liverpool and Chavs will have their off days soon starting from next weekend. How Grovers move from praise to curse baffles me. After Manure game, it was like all grovers turned to AKB, now it seems we have 50% FKB (Fabregas Knows Brigade) and 50% Fabrigas knows nothing. I like Le-grove so much that my day is complete woithout reading the anger and love expressed by grovers. Keep a little faith for our dear club. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Believe me!!!!
the only difference now in our attack is cesc is playin too far back and theo isnt really doin anything,he isnt commiting defenders,an running at them asking them the questions will they bring him down in the area,we need a dm so cesc can forget tackling 20 times a game,an we need theo to wake up
Ojaimo, where are you from, tell me it’s important.
i dunno i think referee corruption plays a part, they love treating us like shyt so people cant say they favour the big four, pisses me right off, stoppin the game for that villa mug then leaving the sag rolling,an the foul on vela, refs are makin up rules as they go,an barrys 9 fouls compared to denilsons 1 tackle 1 yellow,9 fouls an booked ,should have been off
Fellow gunners !
I’m running out of patience here…ALL our youngsters are steeling the headlines !!
How can we let that happen? If you go back 5 years when we actualy won something you will actually see that our team had a good mix of young and talanted, experienced, technical and tough players. Now we have a couple of useless experienced player, and a bunc of raw material types, who is not capable of winning anything. How the hell did we let
this happen. What was Arsene thinking about… your job as a manger is to keep the squad healty and aggresive in order to land some silwerware..We are actualy doing the oposit with selling all our experienced players..When will AW this stop doing this…..It’s like groundhog day. When will we get some experience into the squad ?
If anybody knows – then feel free to enlighten me !
our players have to stop speaking french on the pitch, its turning the system against us , refs dont respect gallas
ojaimo… lol… “we will win a quadruple”… your off your rocker son.
Ok never mind my friend, I am a season ticket holder and try like hell to keep the faith, but when I see us beat the Mancs one week and lose so pitifully to Villa the next, I lose the faith real quick, I guess you live aways, it’s easier to forgive when you don’t spend your whole day getting there and shed loads watching them.
If I didn’t have the faith I wouldn’t go. See my point?
i have 2 season tickets, well i pay for two,i bought them two weeks before we signed bergkamp,im losing faith a bit too, especially when im on the back of the daily mirror behind manual almunia tryin to save david bentleys shyt shot
If it wasn’t for refereeing decisions the Dippers would be a mid table team.
I’ve got faith, I attended the Arsenal v Leeds game when there were only 4000 there on a Thursday night.
i dont mind bad decisions, but when they are ignoring the obvious even the camera man clocked mike riley next to the foul on vela givin it play on,the geezer didnt even try win the ball,he was just takin him out an the ref was like ok play on i dont want a french man in my face askin me to move the wall back ten yards
Magnus I have no idea why you were in moderation, I think you’re out now!
iv got faith long term, but i couldnt tell u for sure that we will avoid losing our next league game!
the invincibles aka the world cup legends i had my fixture list saying win win win win before games were played, not with this current batch of bitch defenders an small midfielders
I hear ya! I’m off for a while, enjoy yourselves.
see i dunno if wenger genuinely tried hard to replace flamini or if he is truly mentally unwell an is sick of defenders who like tackling lol
Bergkamp, imagine if you could tell……
Against Vill we had 66% possesion and was it 2 shots or 2 shots on target.
This isn’t a DM problem this is a tactical problem.
Vill = Villa
Avenell, it’s an age issue before a tactical issue.
avenell – rephrase: age and ability issue
Magnus.. The kids don’t do it they play direct cutting football.
I know I will be slated for expecting a quadrupple!!! I also know that those that are season ticket holders are right to vent their fury. however, why we don’t see the lapses whenever we win is what I don’t understand. We win and we call for consistensy i the team selection and we got it yet we lost. Had Wenger incoporated some of the CC players and we lose, most grovers will still blame him for using players that lack grit 4 a Champions league spot contender like Villa. It is difficult to accept defeat but let us vent our fury with moderation. We will win trophies this season. The players are not really up to it and we need imports and promotion from within, but until Jan. Let’s ray and hope that the players play with the right attitude. For some who are calling for Ade’s head, I don’t know what they want a man coming back from injury to do in that match. F-A-B-R-E-G-A-S has not been good this season. Leave Dennilson alone and givee FAB a rest for at least two games. He will come back fighting for his shirt. Same for Almunia.
Wengerball has come unstuck, because we don’t have the players who move it fowards into space or the players to make the runs. We just pass sideways!
I can’t read anymore about our club going to shreds,so read this it is absolutely true.
Kathy Evans, the single dumbest contestant to ever get on ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’
NEW YORK – Idaho resident Kathy Evans brought humiliation to her friends and family Tuesday when she set a new standard for stupidity with her appearance on the popular TV show, ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.’
It seems that Evans, a 32-year-old wife and mother of two, got stuck on the first question, and proceeded to make what fans of the show are dubbing ‘the absolute worst use of lifelines ever.’
After being introduced to the show’s host Meredith Vieira, Evans assured her that she was ready to play, whereupon she was posed with an extremely easy $100 question. The question was:
‘Which of the following is the largest?’
A) A Peanut
B) An Elephant
C) The Moon
D) Hey, who you calling large?
Immediately Mrs. Evans was struck with an all consuming panic as she realized that this was a question to which she did not readily know the answer.
‘Hmm, oh boy, that’s a toughie,’ said Evans, as Vieira did her level best to hide her disbelief and disgust. ‘I mean, I’m sure I’ve heard of some of these things before, but I have no idea how large they would be.’
Evans made the decision to use the first of her three lifelines, the 50/50. Answers A and D were removed, leaving her to decide which was bigger, an elephant or the moon. However, faced with an incredibly easy question, Evans still remained unsure.
‘Oh! It removed the two I was leaning towards!’ exclaimed Evans. ‘Darn. I think I better phone a friend.’
Using the second of her two lifelines on the first question, Mrs. Evans asked to be connected with her friend Betsy, who is an office assistant.
‘Hi Betsy! How are you? This is Kathy! I’m on TV!’ said Evans, wasting the first seven seconds of her call. ‘Ok, I got an important question. Which of the following is the largest? B, an elephant, or C, the moon. 15 seconds hun.’
Betsy quickly replied that the answer was C, the moon. Evans proceeded to argue with her friend for the remaining ten seconds.
‘Come on Betsy, are you sure?’ said Evans. ‘How sure are you? Puh, that can’t be it.’
To everyone’s astonishment, the moronic Evans declined to take her friend’s advice and pick ‘The Moon.’
‘I just don’t know if I can trust Betsy.. She’s not all that bright. So I think I’d like to ask the audience,’ said Evans.
Asked to vote on the correct answer, the audience returned 98% in favor of answer C, ‘The Moon.’ Having used up all her lifelines, Evans then made the dumbest choice of her life.
‘Wow, seems like everybody is against what I’m thinking,’ said the too-stupid-to-live Evans. ‘But you know, sometimes you just got to go with your gut. So, let’s see. For which is larger, an elephant or the moon, I’m going to have to go with B, an elephant. Final answer.’
Evans sat before the dumbfounded audience, the only one waiting with bated breath, and was told that she was wrong, and that the answer was in fact, C, ‘The Moon.’
I hate to be a naysayer but how plausible is it that a meeting was held at Arsenal and out of it leaks that we’re going to buy 3 new players but the names don’t emerge? And for all we know were not discussed?
QoS – I suggested the same thing yeseterday but Micky P was adamant. He said Wenger was at the meeting and approved the decision……
I just can’t see it specially in light of AW’s statement on A.com to the effect that there is no point in speculating about January transfers, let’s see where we are in mid December?
QoS
All the plausability of you going to the moon.
Just read someones post about going down on Hillary Clinton. That is a disgusting thought.
Kelsey
You can watch that on you tube.
It just strike me as plausible really.
Its very easy to say over the Internet your Uncle etc was at the meeting and such like isn’t it?
Don’t get me wrong, if we do indeed sign three experienced players then i’ll be the first in the queue to apologise to Mr P. But until that point, you can colour me a sceptic.
*implausible!!!
arsene wenger is a coward he don’t buy big players as it will put pressure on him to win something but with kids he can say that we are growing every year and we will be better next year i think all arsenal fans should just say to arsene wenger no more kids sir buy 24-25 years old top footballers that will introduce consistency and all these so called great telented kids will leave arsenal for milan and barca just like flamini and many others so what the point in thinking about a great future that doesn’t even exist.come on start thinking about arsenal before anything arsene wenger then we will be successful
people, let me just clarify one thing. There was a meeting which was called on Sunday eve. I have it on very very good authority.
The person who told me, i know very well. He is a very reliable source.
He informed me of the Reyes, Sagna, Nasri and Ramsey signings BEFORE they hit the press or net.
The meeting was called to outline plans for 3 new signings, international and experienced players – in fact it was sated that NONE of these players are below the age of 24. One of the reasons for calling this meeting was so that the manager and club would decide on the players and start working on the deals SOONER than January, allowing the manager to have more focus on working with the team.
You will all see this come to fruition in January.
Michael – do you think this was the board getting tough with Wenger or Wenger putting pressure on the board. Which of the two parties was pro-active in calling this meeting and demanding these new players?
You’re a rascal Michael P, but well done, you’ve got everyone speculating
I don’t wanna piss on your parade but I can safely say what you’re saying is very unlikely, did your boy tell you down the pub?
Lets leave the slating of Michael until after January, because I would like to think we have a “informer” that gets us the news first.
If it is true then we risk losing a valuble poster even before we know if he’s wrong or right with the name calling and the piss taking.
I bet you expected a bit of disbelief though Michael!!
Rasputin – I would like to think it was Wenger going to the board and saying ‘look what your inactivity has done, by not buying anyone the team is going to the dogs and we are finding it very difficult to compete’ bit difficult when you’ve publicly declared your belief in your squad though!!!!
Boo!
Firstly i have the dubious distinction of being responsible for the Hilary Clinton comment, thank you!
Secondly, i would like to take this opportunity in defending Michael P, as we had a little verbal ding-dong earlier, but i would like to give him the benefit of the doubt until the 1st of February………..
Michael,it seems a bit drastic to say we willsign 3 players in january unless one or two are going.has anyone else thought about it in that way.
Rascal as in mischievous , no venom intended, I find it quite amusing, and I can tell you precisely why what Michael claims to know will almost certainly not happen.
Why finest?
i’m not slagging off michael p but we have heard all this before. remember ‘arsenalinsider’ who said it was fact that vieira was signing in the summer. he fooled me!…..the truth is decisions on transfers will not be made now, either by us, the selling club or the players in question.
I think its plausible that decisions are being made to be honest but i just don’t think a meeting takes place where it is said we need three players but not who!
evening all
DDM you have alterior motives for defending Mick P don’t you, reading through the earlier comments about a certain beverage
So much barely concealed rage since Villa…. we need to look somewhere else for our football fix, and I have just the thing:
Arsenal Ladies!
Check out the table -
Women’s Premier League 2008-2009
Pos Team ——-P W D L F A +/- Pts
1 Arsenal Ladies 9 9 0 0 53 8 45 27
2 Everton Ladies 9 9 0 0 31 6 25 27
3 Chelsea Ladies 10 8 1 1 27 9 18 25
Fifty three goals in nine games! +45 goal difference! Now we are fucking TALKING! None of this ‘mental strength’ shit, just a shedload of goals! And I bet the tickets are cheap as well… it’s a no-brainer chaps.
Sorry slagging is too strong a word.. It’s just in the summer one of the Arsenal stewards came on and said Arsenal had lined up a photo session for a new signing(nasri) and it never happened when he said and he got a bit of stick.
He rarely posts now and I miss him Boo hoo !! ;(
Damn you Seb you swine, you have seen right through my ploy!!
come on seb…are we discussing paralympics here?
Ok firstly, you cannot agree upon a transfer months in advance, the player must be known to be fully fit before any deal is negotiated.
International players cost 10-20 million depending on what country they play for, what league they play in, age etc. etc.
The kind of calibre to improve upon our squad could only be obtained in the highest leagues.
3 internationals….could be u-17 internationals…very sketchy……
And yes we would need to release players for this to occur. January is notorious for being a difficult time to get a top player, no one will release top quality players in Jan, the only kind that would be suitable to improve our team would come from one of the G4 leagues, otherwise they’d be of a similar standard to our Carling Cup team.
We might get one player, but to say that this will happen, that everything is agreed upon is a wind up, it’s not poss, even Wenger said this publicly just before he signed Silvestre.
Having transfer targets is completely different to “we will sign 3 international players”.
3 players .. established… above age 24….. we want names grovers…..
LOL !! Let’s recruit from the womens squad…..
nothing gets past me ddm
OMG I just found out the price of a SEASON TICKET to watch Arsenal Ladies….
TWENTY QUID! For a season ticket!!!
Why the hell are we still bothering with the spineless bloody first team, let’s follow a team that are actually winners!
Avenell…that was the first thing i expected and was debating whether or not to post it in the first place! Innocent before being proven guilty! Nice one. I look forward to the many sceptics apologising post-haste!
finestcuts….u cant piss around here mate, been a gooner for over 30 years and have built some good contacts and relations with the club…I’ll speak to you inJan!!!
Rasputin…from what i was told, it was actually Wenger who called the meeting. The general feeling (from my contact anyway) was that the meeting was called as there has been a bit of an atmosphere since the club announced that wenger could spend “£30mil on one player if he wanted”. My contact said that this was a comment which angered Wenger because it was misinterpreted by the media, and the club released this statement without informing Wenger. Wenger made it clear at the meeting that he wants to get the signings he wants prepared for january NOW – as he wants his time clear to focus on the team.
I hope Wenger added that he’d like David Dein to handle the negotiations
I look forward to it Michael, but to say the deals are done is misleading, they aren’t, they could be in the process of negotiation, and….by January the situation may change, there could be injuries which force us to buy, so 3 international players, maybe but you are max staking. I can also tell you thing and say you can’t prove that they’re not true, but the onus is on the person who makes a statement to prove that it is.
finestcuts…no-one said you can agree on a tranfer months in advance, but you can prepare yuor targets with attractive contracts….come back to me on jan31st!!
MP have the club asked you to spread this bit of news to calm the angry fanbase down…
I can’t quite believe the rumour yet myself, but I could well believe that Wenger was forced to call a meeting with the residents of Arsenal FC Board Of Directors Retirement Home in order to get anything done whatsoever. I really don’t think the board gets anywhere NEAR enough stick, and Wenger has probably been doing way more work than he should have been running all the financial and transfer side of the team. The board are just as reprehensible for our current problems as the manager if not more so imo, but they rarely get any shit in the media. What kind of two-bit outfit takes six months to appoint a new chief executive, over 18 months if you take it from when Dein left, it’s utterly pathetic and has meant Wenger has had two jobs to do effectively, no wonder we are struggling. Plus no football man on the board for Wenger to discuss things with and/or for Wenger to get bollocked by! Ridiculous.
Oh I forgot I don’t care any more, I support the ladies team…. I wish it was that simple :s
Oh I hope we don’t have to wait until the 31st Jan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be honest, January is too little to late. He had the whole flamin summer to buy some players and cocked up.
I tell you what Seb, drink what i might have to drink and an awful lot might pass through you fella!!
We all know we need these experienced players, unfortunately AW statements of late do not back that up. This would mean him admitting his strategy failed and I something tells me this will not happen. Apparently AW even has a say in the new CEO, not bad, I have a say on who is going to be my boss….never anywhere else than football… IMO, we have good talent at the club, but AW needs someone to tell him he is wrong and to rethink selection, tactics etc…a good number 2. Love Pat Rice but he is not the right man to tell AW that he needss this player, experienced or not etc he is a yes man…puts out the cones, takes warm up etc.
Apparently I heard when we lost our unbeaten run, AW let it hang around as a subject at London Colney, how we lost it etc instead of getting out of their heads as not important. Do not see Chavski stumbling after their loss of home success to Liverpool. The problem at Arsenal is one of mentality..not ability..we could even get an experienced player who suffers in this area.
michael i think you are winding us up,it’s just not in line with the current policy.when nothing happens in january, please don,t say the deals were lined up but wenger wouldn’t go to the asking price
I’ll have a stab at Lucho Gonzalez of Porto. Known but not too known.
Then maybe a winger.
He definately won’t buy a central defender.
Perhaps thats it Seb…Vic Akers is coming in and AW going up stairs lol
bring in paul mckenna and david blaine to get into the mind and introduce a few new tricks.let’s face it it.s all an illusion.
hello fellas hows everyone.
dennisdamenace
are u still thinking about the drink i idea i came up with haha
He might bring some of his players with him Wolski, I bet they would scrap for 90minutes at any rate, plus they could always ‘distract’ the opposition if things weren’t going well…
…it wouldn’t be the first time as it happens, I read this today
http://tinyurl.com/6mpr4n
When is the last time, apart from Henrik Larsson, that a major international was signed in Jan? If there are any plans to buy, they wouldn’t let the cat out of the bag unless it was a decoy, they still have to watch the player perform for the next two months.
What have you got to lose if it’s not true Michael?
You could be mis-nformed, your boy could be misinformed, they might be testing who can keep secrets, and who can’t.
If you told someone in confidence to keep it under the radar and a few days later what you told that person is relayed back to you, you’d make sure never to tell that person anything classified as top secret again.
I know you may be trying to brighten the mood, but lets wait and see what happens like you said. If there are any transfers, it’s not because you let us know first, it’s just a whisper, we read about them on newsnow, in horse racing everyone whispers about bets, some come through some don’t.
hi raif,it’s been a depressing day except for the 3 mystery signings in january that michael p told us about.
Vick Akers has enough problems with all the palyers departing for the US….
Come to think of it… Vick should loan out a couple of the youngsters to bolster his squad..
seems like a plan seb! I’d take anything creative at this point of the season!
Why doesn’t AW play Diaby as a CM next to Cesc? Is he not good enough there?
kelsey hi there mate
did anyone ask michael-P if he was Dreaming? lol
im telling you were not signing anyone in the Jan-Tran. only another Kid if we do and chances are we would have never have heard of him
3 Players
I dream of 3 players, I hope for the sake of this football club that is true.
Not happy about these reports of Fabianski going to PSG. That lad is a potential Petr Cech in the making, why would we sell him. Also he is 23 and not a kid so why is he now not our No.1 especially given the fall from grace that Almunia has suffered since declaring himself available to play for England (I think it was a curse)
Goonerman, Diaby is a fine player, but he is not good enough YET, but i’m under the impression that he can trouly sucseed – but like in an EDU manner…He simply need’s more time….. At least that’s my opinion
Lets look at the reality of good experienced players actually signing, even if we did go for them. First they would need to be with sides no longer in the champions league, their own club would need to be looking to offload for financial reasons…any other reason like injury prone or too old we would not be interested in…take that back!….. If they were cup tied may not be a problem, it is consistent league players we need.
I agree with finest, there will not be that many experienced quality players up for grabs, at AW’s price that he is willing to pay that wil settle in time ot make a difference this season. happy to be proven wrong though!
I have to admit that I too believe that we wont sign anyone in Jan.
The only hope I have is that the Fans will be all over him in Jan and if he fails to sign anyone and we end up potless or even worse 5th then there will be a lynch mob looking for his head in May
See, ladies teams have guts
maybe AW should take over the youth team development and someone else step in the hot seat…..there the results are not important it is the development that matters. Then bring someone in to work with him that is result driven….takes his yound developed players and turns them into winners
the AKB’s have been Super silent for the last few weeks haven’t they
Sod whether they are eligible for the CL or not, we need players who can help us dominate for two three or more years! They’ll be eligible in August like everyone else, that’s good enough. Price should no longer be an issue when we are faced with yet another season of nearly but not quite and well done for trying.
rico01
you are wrong. they have NUTS. somthing our boys dont have at the mo
Wolski – I agree ! It will be tough, but he has to start soon. The squad is a work in progress meaning that if you are a bit behind it will be tough to get the players you want…
rico you know it! If I lived nearer I would be snapping one of those season tickets up, hell I might anyway! They know what it takes to dominate a league, no doubt about that.
having really bad opponents might also help I guess.. but let’s not take the shine off it eh
Hi Seb..my point wasn’t whether they were CL elegible. more the point they would not move if they were still involved.
If I was in London I’d go for the twenty pound women’s football deal, there might be some good football, and maybe some good looking players.
raif – I am no longer an AKB
ok Wolski good point, and you might be right, people would probably rather be in the CL with some Ligue 1 team than join Arsenal FC and face the UEFA Cup next season -.-
raif you swine!
Goonerman
Welcome to the Real World my Friend.
finestcuts – i’m sure most of Vick’s players play on the wrong team “lol” so wathcing and dreaming is all we can do “lol”
I live where they play their home games, been to a couple with the kids. Well organised team teh ladies…but some oppo are not all that to be true …especially in the GK area.
Seb – please, let them shine
So our solution is,
New Manager = Vik Akers
dennisdamenace
you forgot to add *Insolent* aswell
Better change it to La Grove now!
I don’t believe a word AW says. I am a disallusioned (have I spelt this right) wreck.
Seb – Indeed
Wolski, lets put that to the audience
Name 3 players that probably wont be in CL competition in Jan that would make a improvement to our squad. Money of course is a factor but I believe all of the below would be available
I have loads
1) CM Cana Marseille
AM Andre Arshavin Zenit
2) FW David Villa Valencia
3) RM David Silva Valencia
4) FW Huntelaar Ajax
5) CM Gareth Barry Aston Villa
6) CM Stephen Ireland Man City
7) CB Stephen Taylor Newcastle
9) FW Jermaine Defoe Portsmouth
10) CB/CM Raul Alibol Valencia
The players are out there, we just have to fucking buy a few.
rico – got it in one! look at his credentials…league, europe, cups…completely dominated the lot………jsut what we need!
Pat, Don’t forget Inler….
Inler that turned us down, you never know, I think he is eligible so make that 11 and that was off the top of my head
So raif, if MP has his way me and you will be spending the first weekend in February in hospital having our innards pumped out, happy days!
pat – some god signings on your list…
What actualy happned with Alonso ? It looked like he was sure thing up to the deadline.. I’m still hoping for Alonso.,
pat..good list..all I would say is the point you mention..no chance of him buying them due to valuation. Villa, Huntelaar, Barry, Ireland I believe we have already been linked with and no move. Defoe will prob go back to the spuds at a guess..
Having said that, maybe some player trading may make things possible.
One thing for certain is that it is not only the fans that need an injection of some new faces, but the morale in teh squad will lift with some experienced players coming in.
Bueno, I have proposed to De la Red but seems to have heart problems, could be like Kanu that nothing happened but … :/
another player that I like to buy is KJ Huntelaar, for me the best finisher of europe and I think that he could score more goals than Ade
Oh and how about Steve Sidwell, Arteta, Laursen, Ashley Young, Agbonlahor,
And do you know who the Top Arsenal Defender is on Fantasy Football
Armand Traore……..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
euskal – Is huntelar fast enoug for the PL? Im sceptic….
ALONSO could be signed before next season far as we know. soon as Rafa the Rotating Gaffa gets his man witch is Barry or some other bloke. who knows???
im pritty sure Alonso was very pissed of that Raffa just acted like he didnt want Alonso and was more then willing to let him go when quized about his availability.
the deal went south soon as Liverpool couldnt rise the funds for the Barry deal.
Armand is good – but Gael will occupy his position for the next 10 years..
armand is a leftwinger…
alonso is a destinct possibility, liverpool are in deep shite financially.
No joke TH14 to return, why not, what an influence, has more skill in one toe thanade and nic together maybe a yard slower but has the vision
A keeper is a priority both almunia and fabianski are number two’s,what about cudacini.
Alonso is in superb form though. I am not convinced Liverpool would sell him now,
Wenger had his chance but was a cheap twat who thought he could force Liverpools hand at the 11th hour even though Liverpool held all the cards.
I said at the time, he is gambling our CM on Liverpool getting Barry, and he had no backup plan as he left it till the last few hours
I no longer believe a word that comes out of his mouth,
With a DJ’s name
I know Choy, Magnus
I just found it pretty fucking ironic that our best performing defender in a Fantasy League was on loan somewhere else.
I started the season with 3 Arsenal players in my team, Sagna, Clichy and Adebayor.. I now have none
Found this on a Danish Arsenal-forum. It´s hilarious….
V WBA, 0-1
The Arsenal fans watched in stunned silence and experienced the rare sensation of going a goal down against inferior opposition as West Bromwich Albion – yes, West Bromwich Albion – took an early lead against the Gunners, when Ismael Miller took advantage to sneak in behind the back four as Gael Clichy fell over and Kole Toure, closely man marking William Gallas, was drawn out of position. Possession statistics of 98%-2%, if anything, belied Arsenal´s dominance and they looked set for an equaliser late on when Adebayor, springing the offside trap that had caught him out on 48 previous occasions, rounded the keeper and, with an open goal beckoning him from a yard out, squared back to Van Persie on the edge of the penalty box, only for the Dutchman´s drilled, left foot shot to blaze over the bar.
Arsene Wenger was quick to praise his team´s fightback. “I am very proud of our players. The resilience, mental strength and concentration they showed was immense. Remember, this a very young team that is getting younger every season. But sometimes, when a team turns up to a game with one intention and one intention only and that is to prevent you from scoring in order to try to score themselves, it is very difficult.”
Meanwhile, Wenger has announced his intention to sign Sebastine Ouidy, currently plying his trade at Marseilles, for a reported £9.5 million. A slender, wiry, attacking midfielder in the Hleb mould, it is thought he will tuck in somewhere between Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri in the right channel. “A player like Ouidy will bring you one, maybe two goals a season,” enthused Wenger. “At the end of a campaign, that could prove to be the difference between defeat and victory.”
Wolski – David Villa
Hey Magnus I’ve had a look at the women’s team, some of them look alright, they can’t all be Martina Navratilova types.
I reckon we should get Eartha Pond as a CB for the mens team, she looks like she’s tough as nails.
http://www.arsenal.com/ladies/players
magnus- I dont think that fast unless than … Ruud VN, por ejemplo
I’m off to my compatriot Xabi not consider it a pure DM
finest- you go steady, i played football
I’m defending them Rico, Magnus said most of them probably play for the wrong team, maybe one or two of them are packed with testosterone but most of them look quite feminine.
i was teasing finest, the ‘Martina’ bit
Euskal – RVN was not fast but he has a though physical presense which is rare these days… Ade – with his height +++ should tear up defenders’s – but his not. RVN did
that back in the days…Just ask Martin K… And that is Huntelar’s problem – I guess..
I saw him play in Oslo not to long ago – He was pretty poor.
Laura Harvey looks quite tough.
http://www.arsenal.com/ladies/coaching-staff/laura-harvey
Tum te tum te tum……..
pat I have done more or less the same thing with my fantasy team, Almunia and Denilson out, Cech and Malouda in, and I don’t even feel bad about it. I did keep Gallas though, you never know he might get a goal or two one game, but he’s on the bench for now.
Finestcuts – They are all wolves in cheap’s clothing “lol”
Finestcuts – don’t let them fool ya
Finest.. She’s like the PE teacher on “Porkies”
finestcuts – LOOOOOL. Laura is a killer
Yeah I think the first team should be sent on a training session with Laura Harvey
She could sort them out.
Koke Resurreccion?
even the name fits!
Old Red nose actually got done by the FA..
2 game ban and 10k out of the Unwins fund..
and Drogba misses the Arse game.. (we could bring Senderos back) ..
avenell.. they still have anelka.. and doesn’t he love scoring against us!!!
Cana, Zapata, Arshavin-PLEASE ARSENE!
Lets hope that there are signings planned for January. Wenger has to take the blame for understating the impact of Flamini and Hleb leaving. We needed players and were not on the position to wait for deadline bargains ” Alonso”.
There are big players available. Schweinsteiger is out of contract in the summer and we have been linked with him on afew occasions. He would solve lots of our problems
So guys- are we playing
Man C.
Chelsea
away
and Middlesbrough home and then Liverpool away?
Ash
Do You think that Schweinsteiger can help us. Where would You play him?
He could play anywhere Diaby plays. He would add physical presence to our midfield and he scores goals. We’d still need a pure defensive midfielder though.
I really hope we go for players like him & De Rossi
Maciek ..
I have only seem in during international matches and he plays on the right?… a good replacement/ backup for rosicky… great set pieces too….
Wenger: We were punished for a mistake at the back
Dear Supporter,
Our performance on Saturday was not good but it was the kind of game where you can win 1-0. Could we have lost the game in the first half? Yes. But instead we lost it when we looked stronger in the second half. It was the kind of game where you cannot afford a mistake at the back and I believe we were punished because of that.
I feel we were a bit unlucky as well on the first goal because we had Bacary Sagna down after getting injured. For the second goal there was a blatant foul on Carlos Vela on the edge of their box. Instead of having a chance to equalise from a free-kick we are then 2-0 down. Sagna’s injury is quite serious by the way and I expect him to be out for a few weeks. He has hurt his ankle.
We beat Manchester United last week and then lost this week, while Villa beat us after losing against Middlesbrough and Newcastle. Top-level performance is about consistency and at the moment we are not consistent enough to produce that kind of performance week-in week-out.
You have to accept that the game is played by human beings and sometimes physically they have a drop. It is very difficult for us to have a rational explanation about what happened against Villa. I believe that the team have the desire but like a few other times this year it is unexplainable why we don’t really play at our 100 per cent potential.
I have to say Villa played well and they deserved to win but I don’t want to talk about them too much because I don’t know them very well. On Saturday they played well but I saw their game against Middlesbrough on tape and they could have lost by six or seven so it is very difficult for me to assess them. They have a big potential if you look at the performance against us.
Finally, I have been asked a lot about possible transfers in January but it is too early to answer that question. We are mid-November and we have to see where we are at the end of December. At the moment, speculating about transfers won’t help us.
Thanks for your support.
This is AW’s address to the supporters….
Ash
Isn’t De Rossi more ofensive player dhat typical DM?
we need a very good dm.. don’t know who will be available in january though… otherwise we are screwed!
Choy- I respect Your view.
Yes, he is physical, but is he a typical winger? He is another Diaby. You never know where he plays.
Choy
CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
we don’t play with wingers anyway.. knowing arsenal.. we’ll probably buy him.. imagine the cost of buying a shirt with this name on it
Marseille probably just sold us our best player… you think they’d sell us their captain?
*their
Good joke.
I would prefer Valencia or Palacios. Wenger had a chance to buy Palacios but he said-no I got the “pas master” and Song and Diaby.
*pass, sorry
Yes Choy, the should do it.
Nasri can persuade Lorik to come here. Besides- remember Pires?
Everything is possible BUT we must act and soon. It’s time to move on. His experiment has failed and he must admit it, buying experienced, great players. Zapata, Cana, Arshavin and Given and we can destroy many teams.
good old bobby.. what a player!
Funny how Bendtner says he is playing well and needs more playing time at Arsenal
Yeah, Booby is my favourite player.
Who is Your favourite player, Choy?
walcott is out of England squad with a dislocated shoulder.
nice one
love friendlies.
so our first choice right side is out
Sagna and Walcott
Eboue and Ramsey to replace them?
I think walcott is just a precaution.. I am sure arsene would have had a word with capello….heheh
My favourite.. Dennis surely…
Maciel I believe that De Rossi is a pure DM, he’s smart, tactical perfect, you go long and short, aggressive, physical and also has a good shot, but he is a god in Rome and the Italian good players do not want to get out of there, it is impossible for me
choy, it is not a precaution.
He wont play this year now.
check SSN
oh shit.. just read that.
well those who said he was crap will be happy.
But who is coming in?
Eboue?
Ramsey
Simpson?
Gibbs?
Wilshire??
Vela?
expect wenger to pick toure and eboue on the right
get well soon theo!
Kun_A – Eboue is out.
Experienced players in January eh? I wonder who … Gary Neville was looking particularly “experienced” when we played Man Ure.
oh i forgot- well song at right bacj cant be ruled out unfortunately
*back
simpson can play on the right!.. so can LJ.. nasri too..
hopefully, the midifeld would look decent like this
RM DM M LM
nasri denilson ramsey LJW
based on form im sure denilson was ok recently
Yeah De Rossi is more of a defensive midfielder but he can play too. To me he’s a better player than Flamini but as Euskal Gooner says its almost impossible to lure him away from Roma. Am sure theres some other options available.
Partnerships like Henry-Pires, Vieira-Petit & Toure-Campbell(to a lesser extent) are not easy to find nowadays and Wenger should have offered Flamini the increase he deserved to keep his partnership with Cesc going. We’ve just offered Van Persie a new £80,000 which is abit baffling considering we never went above £55,000 a week for the Flamster
Nah.. he’ll probably play song!
ha ha the england reserve team will be playing tomorrow! very exciting
I know ash.. what has rvp done to warrant 80k a week..!!!?!!
Van Persie does not deserve 80 000.
rvp has earned a few match ban for lously knocking the keeper down- twat where as the flamster would have saved our loosing games, helped fab get his rythem back and hence helped arsenal earn atleast a top two. we might even have been top cuz he would have saved the goals let in in the matches we lost. well agaist stoke, hull anyway
Theo needs to learn not to fall down on his shoulder. Against Stoke Delap tackled him and he did his left shoulder. Now its his right. Hopefully it wont take 3 months?
Funny thing. Vieira and Henry both had to play great for many seasons to get a chance to earn more money and all Van Persie has done was scoring about 40 goals in 3 and a half seasons.
Lets face it.
Our players earn lots of money and are not delivering. I’m sure Song, Eboue and Almunia, Diaby, Denilson and Bendtner are all on 45-50 000. Adebayor-800000?
He does not deserve to earn half of that.
I still think that Bendtner will come good. He is an intelligent player. I would play him behind our main striker.
Cana Fabregas
Bendtner
Eduardo
That would be good.
Stats don’t tell the full story, but there is some interesting data on Opta:
http://bbs.scoobynet.com/sport-35/687657-opta-premier-league-stats-2007-2008-a.html
and it shows just what the replacements for Hleb and the Flamster have to live up to (and that’s just for us to stand still, so to speak)
Also, that the contributions Fab, Ade and Clichy made last season.
FFS when will our luck change
down to the bones against Man City, I would go for
Ramsey, Denilson, Diaby, Nasri
I dread to think what Wenger will go for…I fear for us, I really do.
Cheer up Pat mate, at least you’ll get to see how Ramsey does, if he doesn’t get injured tomorrow that is, might even get to see Wilshire.
Eboue
Knowing our luck Ramsey will probably be injured by that clumsy oaf Nikki B.
We all want to see what Ramsey and LJ will do, given the chance.
So it will be Randall and Lansbury!
Lanbury scored for England under 21 side against the Germans.
i think i read that eboue has a knee injury and will be out for a few more weeks. surely ramsey OR willshere will start. if we go will song, denilson, diaby nasri we are in trouble.
my team for sat
almunia
toure, gallas, sylvester, clichy
denilson
ramsey diably
nasri rvp
ade
I think Geoff or someone mentioned Song doesn’t have a game midweek so we could see him depending on how much of the Wales game he’s involved in.
Lansbury scored, he’s Captain for under 19′s aswell, Gavin Hoyte played and Rui Fonte scored for Portugals under 21 team who beat Spain’s under 21′s 4-1, Merida I think was playing for Spain.
*How much of the Wale’s game Ramsey is involved in.
song does have a game, playing in south africa. going back to possible transfer targets what about mark van bommel. he’s 31 and in the last year of his contract. i read on sky sports that munich may sell him in january to get some money before he leaves on a free.
Dayum, I can see why all clubs hate these stupid friendlies, Walcott could be out for a few weeks unless it wasn’t that serious ?!
We could see our whole defence play for France.
Have you watched Van Bommel much ? Does he still have the energy to get around the midfield like he used to ?!
kingsley
mark van bommel
we was going to buy him but that fell though. and after the spitting incident when he spat at one of our player that killed the deal right off. he was a hate figure among arsenal fans since then
but i dont see him comming to arsenal. His to old and he would demand a big wage im sure of it
Lansbury wasn’t playing for the England U21s tonight. Couldn’t see any of ours.
i havent to be honest, maybe his legs have gone. i just remember him being a quality player with great experience. he is captain for munich so i find it stange that they havent offered him a new contract……..
here read this. van bommel is a cunt
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport/article-2014097-details/Spitting+mad+at+transfer+snub/article.do
the deal for van bommel fell through because psv wanted to much money so we went for gilberto instead. i’m not convinced he’s a hate figure amongst us all? no more than silvestre, he did headbutt freddie after all…………..
Lansbury was playing for the under 19′s I don’t think it was shown on tv, the under 21′s was shown on Setanta. Rhys Murphy came on aswell later on, that kid can finish.
How old is Van Bommel?
kingsley
yeah i see what you mean. but come on. SPITTING is the lowest of the low and it was at Henry of all people. and commeted 10 fouls no less
i was at the game and every fan looked asif they wanted to Kill the guy, me included.
trindle
i think his about 31
31. having read the article i get where you are coming from . however at the same time i feel we could do with a player like that at the moment.
it was just a thought anyway……..vieira did spit at ruddock and it didnt stop us loving him. nite all.
yeah we could get somthing from a player like him. but he would have to sort out that nasty streak in him. and maybe its been a while since what happend maybe alot of people would have forgoten by now? who knows,
but he would add some much needed experience aswell since he has won things.
but in all honesty he wouldnt be anywere on my list of players if i needed to buy a midfielder.
He’d be good short-term but I think we’d still need someone else, Klinsmann probably wants to bring a few of his own players in and some of them are getting on a bit.
I think it’s kind of sad really, to think of all the young players we have that have the qualities or seem to but are just a couple of years too young to help us this season.
well PV4 was already at our club and tho we all thought it was wrong i for one turnd a blind eye to it.
even when my mates spoke about it i gave them the classic Wenger comment
* I DIDNT SEE IT *
Just can’t see AW going for him … or anyone for that matter. We remain in transition.
lol raif. i did the same! those were the days.
trindle
we have been in transition for years now. its been so long i dont think we can even call it transition anymore
i would call it “wengers wall pulling over ur eyes trick” lol
kingsley
haha the good old days. do you remember back then when we had a team full of over 25 year olds. and the media was screaming at wenger to play our kids.?
now as time goes on its the other way round aint it
wenger should serisly just leave his waisting his time like tommy says if arsenal continue the way there going wenger will be looking for a new job at the end of the season
Too true Raif. But it certainly aint the stable side we thought would be built out of the ashes of last years challenge.
There was a time when you “bled” a youngster when one of your senior players was injured or out-of-form.
its a shame as we should have held on to some of the older players over the years to pass down there know how to the youngster. but hey that wasnt to be,
Wenger always spoke about how he wanted to do what Man Utd did and bring a new Genaration of young players but what Mr Wenger Forgot was letting the older players teach them and keep them in line.
That’s the problem in a nutshell. there has to be a blend – in the same way there has to be a blend of attack/defence. Add a bit of steel, hep presto, another title.
But if you’re blinkered and afraid to admit you’re wrong because it would be a weakness …
Good night all!
trindle
to true. all to true,
but im going to have to call it a night.
so take it easy man
Cheers guys – I’m off too.
with theo out and sagna out, eboue wont go back as RM. with Diaby probably filling in for cesc due to suspension, I wonder who is going to go on the right. Ramsey anyone? He played on the right against Fenerbache I believe.
huntelaar is the best option for arsenal
MAN U has already strikers, chelski doesnt even bid for it,
liverpool no chance of getting into the race for huntelaar,
so its time for arsenal to get him.
MAN city may be in race for him
alex
do we really have that many 1st teamers out ?
oh crap add to that the international week of pointless injuries and it sounds like we are in the shit V man shitty ..
theo out for 8 weeks!
shit !
i think it has to be eboue RM …
the defense will go with toure at RB ..
me id go with toure RB
swap nasri to RM and put vela on LM !
you then have the wings taken care of ..
and i would go with diaby ramsey in the center of the park ..
although id prefer jack to fill in for cesc .. as i don’t think you’ll lose anything there ..
especially currently with cesc’s dip in form .
mind you denilson will be included im sure so , i s’pose wenger will go diaby-denilson .
what ever the case , it looks like it going to be another midfield disaster .
I think this is not going to happen at all. The only striker I am expecting to leave is Bentdner. I think he is not intelligent enough to be in Arsenal. And once we get back Eduardo in full fitness, Bentdner cannot expect a first team run.
Arsene is an intelligent man. He cannot afford to sell Ade, Van and Fab at any cost. More over I am speculating that may be we can buy a defender and a defencive midfilder in this transfer window apart from some young guys.
So guys I think we should not worry about think and pray only that Arsenel finds some consistency.
it’s not Wenger’s MO to be signing players in January, tho I think he’ll have to bring in a midfielder who isn’t shit. If he can point to injuries, it may save him some face if he does so – and therefore make new signings more likely. Also, does anyone else miss not having even one orthodox winger in the team any more? I think winger is Wenger’s most hated position.
Another thing: Like a Champo Manager afficionado, Wenger enjoys the brinksmanship of the transfer window, and has employed the twelfth hour tactic to some success in recent seasons, most notably with the Gallas/Cole swap (having even to ask the FA for a registration extension as I remember). I think this season he was just caught out and Liverpool played him very well (if we can’t have Barry you ain’t having Xavi). Unfortunately, this looks like it’s almost certainly cost us the league if not a CL place. As a comparison, Man U paid over the odds for Berbatov, but at least they have the player…I also don’t think his commentating for French tv at the Euro helped much, especially as he’s already a) the best paid manager in the Prem (I think?) and b) Doing the job of 2-3 people at Arsenal. I didn’t see Ferguson appearing on the BBC commentary team, for example…just that fat headed buffon Alladyce (and look what happened to him).
Make Kolo Captain, put gallas / silvestre on the bench play Djouro with Kolo and buy another 6 ft 3 CB with experience or get Swiss tony back = Defence sorted.
Get 2 really world class central midfielders.
Crisis over. We all know what needs to be done.
things are bad when we want Swiss tony back.
Yeah but hes learned how to defend properly surely by now – Italy breeds defence and hes also tall, put him next to Kolo it worked fine till the CL final, and dont forget he only lost the plot when Dogbag battered him about, which the Dog was doing to all CD in England at the time. But yeah would prefer someone like Big Sol to come in (Younger version) and make a statement of intent about out defence.
Play Eboue at RB.. Kolo is a not a RB..Nothing in his game is good enough for a RB..Move Nasri to RM and Vela/Diaby toi left with Wilshere on the bench.
drop Sylvest and bring JD in. His performances merit him being in the team..
with cesc and theo out whats ur starting 11 for the weekend?
Toure gets forward quite well, as I remember. Is he completely unsuitd to be a DM ? I can’t think he’d be worse than our other options in that position.
Bearing in mind confidence is a biggy for our keeper. Id have to go with
Almunia
Sagna Djouro Toure Clichy
Ramsey Diaby Denilson Nasri
Vela Adeybayore
But it wont be that. It will probably be
Almunia
Sagna, Gallas Silvestree Clichy
Eboue Denilson Nasri RVP
Diaby
Adeybayore
Moray he gets forward well from the backl with gaps to exploit he has neither the composure nor the passing to play CDM in my opinion mate. He would get caught out too often. Nice idea though
Ramsey and Eboue to step in respectively.
hurley, I sort of agree with you, but for passing we have Fabregas and isn’t it better for him to exercise his lack of compsure in midfield than in defence?! I feel he would play better alongside a more commanding presence (ie more Fabregas than Gallas).
NewsNow keeps forgetting that I want to hide blogs. So annoying.
Apparently Real want Adebarndoor……..25m…………
This couldn’t come at a better time………truly a blessing in disguise………
Valid point Moray, although in all honesty I would prefer to see Diaby mopping up in midfield alongside cesc except Diaby comes across as a lazy twat sometimes. We all know that were short of a CDM and no amount of shuffling is going to change that. Playing players out of position is NOT the answer and never will be.
Yea get 25 for Ade and get a decent striker in!
btw hurley..sagna is i injured!
My team would be:
————Fab
Eboue–Gallas–Toure—Clichy
Diaby-Ramsey-Denilson-Nasri
——-RvP– Adeybayore
Eboue has a good cross and Diaby just cuts in like Hleb. He is the closest to hleb we’ve got on the ball, a lot slower but he is good so Eboue can make the overlaps there and Diaby can wait and wait untill the right moment.
I think Ramsey’s engine and ability to step up has got to be the key here in the city game. Btw vela can be and option for Nasri or Rvp but that might make us a bit lightweight.
and yea my defence should rather be:
Eboue–Gallas—JD—-Clichey
It has to be Wilshere, Eboue will cover for Sagna, if Song goes in I won’t go again this season.
you might as well hand in your season ticket now Geoff
I think your right Seb, he now has an excuse.
Considering how much he was banging on about how Diaby was going to be a great midfielder, he hasn’t played him as one of a central pair yet. Now that’s what I call ‘killing the young players’.
Oh dear. Another empty seat at the Emirates……………..
the thing is Arsenal and their injury list cannot keep being coincidental, every fucker we sign ends up as a long term injury.
No Raddy, I’ll sell it.
Won’t Toure cover for Sagna?
well does that mean our medical staff kills the players? or the training regimes?
Totale Futballe..HUH!
Iceman I think Eboue should cover for sagna if fit..coz toure is shite as a RB!and eboue can just play at one position and that is RB..!
Poor Theo. He must be gutted
If EE plays RB, then Song is sure to start
Iceman not if he has a space for Song, his favourite.
Xeeez a bit of both plus a bit of dodgy buying I imagine.
well geoff then start lookin for suitors coz I bet Wenger is gonna have his beloved song near the first team..u see at Arsenal no matter who gets injured we have a couple of muppets waiting in the ranks to fill in..be it any midfield postion, RB, CB!
Eboue=RW, CM and RB where he is ok.
Song=CM, CB, RB. WOW. Is he a michael essien or what!
I hear you xeeez but AW won’t do that….he prefers Eboue RM these days……
Yeah…..Song’s a poor mans Essien….
My arse, not in the same sentence as Essien, Song is shit.
Well said Geoff
Good morning London
Well its not official, but I can tell you Australia, if not in it, is that close to a recession its not funny. Which probably reflects the mood @ The Arsenal
one things for sure wenger will play as many of his favorites as possible ..
expect too see song – eboue – diaby – denilson ade all playing some sort of role ..
i don’t know how anyone can still want ade for 25 million ..
i wouldn’t buy him for 25 pence !
Instead of just going with the same old bollocks that has got us no where this season
start incorporating jack – vela – ramsey-johan – fab2 .. these guys have more talent in there small toe than than the above have , i s’pose diaby isnt too bad .. but i have never really seen miracles from the man like i have from nasri already .. why play this crap ? and let guys with a future at the club be stunted ???? we aint going to win shit this season so just throw them in now !
its time to start practicing what he preaches ! if he thinks age has nothing too do with skill level then back the current crop of fringe players ..
Selection problems for saturday.
Cesc(suspended)
Walcott(dislocated shoulder)
Eboue (still injured)
Sagna(out until mid dec)
Ade(playing in togo)
Kolo(playing in Israel)
RVP,Nic,song, ramsey all playing quite local in europe
vela (playing in hondurus)
now pick the team guys.
You left one out Kelsey
Song (useless)
…..& speaking of The Arsenal, and can I be the one of the 1st to say this, Wenger is finished. If what this post says, he must move on. There is too much humbug. There is no doubt he is good @ what he does, but he is past his use by date @ The Club. Its time for change, including The Board/Ownership, coz things are stagnating.
Simple, the CC team minus Vela and Song.
Carling Cup team would do for me.
ethan if we win shit this season, which i totally agree, will wenger ba ssked to leave.not bloody likely do you agree.
Raddy, didn’t include song as he is not a footballer, and good morning.
Geoff the fucking £ is falling they reckon another 13% soon which will mean £=euro, fucking great.
Wenger has got the start of alzheimers, short term memory loss.
KEL
he has always honored his contracts , so no chance there !
and as for the board it would be interesting too see if they sack him ,
but im sure that will only be a small possibility if we lose C.L football !
but in all honesty i cant see the man going anywhere , and unless he changes his stance on transfers , i can see this going on and on and … ON !
cant you ?
you just cant wait for our young’uns to all get the experience of say chevski or man U ..
(will it ever happen ?) its all too much of a gamble …
im sure all the quality would leave long before also .. Young players get disillusioned very quickly… and with no seasoned heads too guide them its looking grim …
I personally would like him to stay and recruit more sensible NOW type players ..
just give me 5 minutes in the room alone with him
Wenger needs a new challenge, & This Club needs a new direction. There is no use in hanging on to whta is now in the past. he has gioven so much to this club, he will never be forgotten as the greatest manager since the ’30′s (was it Herbert Chapman), but The Arsenal has no time to waste. The Wenger years are over. The King is dead.
Just going for a little sarcasm people calm down………..Song couldn’t play Essien’s arse if he wanted to……………..
When the players were getting red carded & winning trophys, there was never a question about player wanting to leave mid season, etc. If Cesc wants to go, there is Ramsay. & he is a Wenger legacy. Arsene we will never forget you but time is near
ethan, you state the obvious, and we knew this 18 months ago.I actually read that turnover at the emirates is2.75 million on gate receipts every home game, plus all the additional money spent.
Wenger has cocked up big time and he is turning this great club into a laughing stock. Will Kroenke have an influence, otherwise we will get weaker and weaker as a squad.
i really believe we have a good chance of next season being out of CL as retaining 4th place.that’s how desperate it is getting.
We have conceded 10 goals at home already, only 5 other Premiership teams have conceded more.
In 1990/91 we conceded 10 at home all season and 8 away, and in 98/99 it was just 5 at home and 12 away.
The current side are a world away from those stats…
Setanta readers’ comment of the day
“I seem to remember similar arguments a couple of seasons ago when the Arsenal kids were being hyped up. And who beat them in the youth cup final? Seriously though, potential is just that, no matter how promising it doesn’t always come to fruition. Mind you, Rafael, Ramsey and Wilshere are already “classier” that the current first choice in their positions in their respective teams. All they need to do is develop their bodies. Then again Wallcott still has the body of a 16 year old, so even physical development is not guaranteed. The whole hype thing though is really just to deflect attention from the frailties of the Arsenal first team, and is promulgated to excuse the lack of spending. (For that I think Wenger gets the blame unfairly. It’s the Board which is primarilly responsible for the tight-fistedness The money IS there but THEY don’t want Wenger to spend it)”
I really think The Board are the “yesterdays news” Its time for a complete overhaul of The Board; get some fresh thinking in there.
Arsenal could do with a Dutchman @ the helm. You name him there are planty about always looking for a fresh challenge. Huus is good, but there are more (DB10)
apparently bischoff scored another screamer for the reserves last night
Wenger is finished. But I will never forget the joy he has given. But @ times like this you have to be cruel to be kind.
kelsey
its the obvious alright .. and the most probably ..
gnarley ,with you on this one 100%,
timoe for change
SORRY GEOFF i can see WENGER PENCILLING SONGS NAME ON THE TEAM SHEET
shit shit shit.
i have supported the gunners for 50 years and as someone said yesterday if they win i am like a child with a smile on my face but if they lose it takes days to recover.
What’s frustrating is that with a few tweeks we wouldn’t be in this position.
every game means nothing to build on.if we thrash city does it mean we will give chelsea a game.if city thrash us,the same applies.
we need consistency,a belief amongst the players and true motivation, and at the moment we have none of it.
how about a Rijkaard and DB10 combo…………
tru unfortunately- he should be kept as the youth and reserve team coach and maybe for a little scouting but that’s it. enough is enough. new manager brings freshness. i hate to say this but look at the spuds.
I bet we could get the Dutchy(whats his name) who took Barca to the champions league against us.
for me del bosque, mancini, with keown, or db10 as righthand man,
sorry when the boss goes i want a complete clearout….
Sorry GG. I can’t agree.
The Board, Is what is happening on the pitch, the Board’s fault? Most of them are not involved in the running of the club. Fizman has been categorical about the funds available to AW. He has no reason to lie.
The problems seem to lie at AW’s feet. He is a man under pressure and it shows – he is making decisions that appear to be desperate. In particular the singular adherence to the youth policy. Whilst laudable, it is harming us. My fear is that the great players who come through will not want to stay at a club with no silverware.
I do not see AW leaving until the end of his contract. And I still believe he is the best manager around
Big Raddy
The Board are tired, old, spent, you name it. New thinking needs to be introduced like any ailing business. They are where “the buck stops” The last great thing they did was vote on a new stadium.
Raddy i respect you view but if this is true the long term damage wenger will do could lead us to a few years in the wilderness , we will struggle to stay in the top four every season , we will struggle this year ,
wengers game plan has been rumbled and now he’s being outcoached by morons like
brown, pulis and yesterday men like hodgson
sorry we need change..
keown and db10 with another top manager would do perfect
Talking of Alzheimer’s, the last time Song played a full game was against West Ham.
Wenger is going to play Song against Man City just to wind Geoff up; although, the advantage as I see it is that we will see once and for all if the West ham game was a fluke or as I secretly hope, because I support Arsenal, is that Song is better than the press he receives. I still maintain we haven’t seen enough of him to justify his vilification.
yes its the board .. i agree BR !
they must of told wenger to get innovative to stay competitive .
Like all bosses , they are in charge of the monetary decisions and thats why i despise them
Kun_A
Keown must return IMO
Read my post today, it’s very interesting and touches on what you both said Gnarley and Raddy.
Kelsey, the more the Euro goes up the more the Spanish economy will suffer, people will stop going, they will stop buying, the Costa’s will become ghost towns.
La Manga club are owned by Med Group and they yesterday suspended all supplier payments, they are deep in the shit, if they are, the rest of Spain are more so, I hope your money isn’t tied to their economy.
SIMON
i think it would matter little if you introduced a new manager .
if the new manager still has monetary restrictions on spending what will we really
achieve by sacrificing wenger ?
all you would get is a mass exodus of his young talent leave !
Ethan he has the money, if my fucking post were up you would read it and see my point, Pedro, where is it???
the board are just a bunch of old tory public school boys, they are lost in the modern world they still live in their good old empire days swigging the best coniac and smoking fine cigars ,
THEY ARE COMPLETELY CLUELESS, Look at the slowness in the appointment of the c.e.o
old ken friar is doing the job ,how many forward thinking 72 year olds are there at the top of the biggest companies in the buisness world?
NEW POST!
I dont know why u guys keep speaking of more than one coach replacing Arsene. Is it cos u think its a massive task for one person to handle or that the replacements you are recommending are not good enough?
Ok, firt of all, I agree. In just about everything in this blog. In Sweden there are two different camps in this Wenger question. Either you are fed up with the old man or you will defend him no matter what.
But my question to you, Grovers, is WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU GUYS DOING!?
You guys are so freaking lame, so lousy. DO SOMETHING! ACT, FFS! You are the fans living in the country, you are the ones with the oppurtunities to go out to Colney and scream, yell or protest. Put the French against the wall.
It is obvious Wenger doesn’t care about the clubs future, he doesn’t know how to handle a company in the market. He only cares for himself and his pervert way of slowly throwing this club in the bin. But he needs to hear it. Loud.
If I had the oppurtunity to go to London Colney I would be there and let him know what we think instead of whining on the web.
Keep it up and sorry for the spelling.
