Wake up Arsene, this is the week you can make or break our season.

Our season begins tonight and could end on Saturday unless the boss starts backing up his rhetoric with decisions.

He has backed his youth policy, yet every time he loses he either blames the fact they are young or whines about rough tackles, free kicks, corners and long throw ins.

You can’t have your cake and eat it mate so get on with it or get your cheque book out, it’s as simple as that.

In pre season we saw him buy the likes of Nasri, Coquelin, Ramsey and Bischoff, all but Bischoff played in pre-season and youngsters like Gibbs, Randall and Wilshere all played as did Diaby and Djourou, yet he doesn’t want to play them, they all did great and against top class opposition.

I have seen enough of Ramsey, Coquelin and Wilshere to want them in our regular squad and I have seen enough of Song to want him as far away from the Grove as money and flying time will take him.

One or two people stick by Song but they are a minority, unfortunately one of those is the manager.

He ignored his captain in our loss against Stoke and that for me is enough of a reason to drop him.

I also have to say Kolo is not the player he was, though he still wears the badge with pride, give him a rest and bring in Djourou tonight.

Play a midfield of Nasri, Ramsey, Cesc and Wilshere with Bendtner up top and Diaby tucked in, or a midfield of Nasri, Diaby, Cesc and Wilshere with Vela and Bendtner up top.

Defence should be Clichy, Gallas Djourou and Sagna with Eboue deputising or Silvestre for Gallas.

I would give Fabianski a run in goal to show Almunia that we won’t tolerate indifference between the sticks.

I’m told that Bischoff is not ready yet but I would sooner see Watt or Coquelin in midfield than Song.

Coquelin reminds me of Makelele, and that’s what we need in the midfield, a ball winner that’s not afraid to thread through a long ball or have a shot.

If you’re not going to use them Arsene, go and buy someone that will do the job and give us something at the end of the season.

We lost to Stoke because we were shit, not because they were any good, wake up and smell the roses, stop making excuses, play to win, play with youth but make it the right youth, Ramsey is twice the player that Song will ever be, that’s why the Mancs, the Scousers, and Everton tried to sign him, he proved how good he was against England when they fielded 8 premiership players, does anyone remember the Mancs going after Song? No course they can’t.

This is not an anti Song post, it’s a ‘we have the players, play them’ post.

We can go out tonight and stuff these Turks, qualify for the next round in Europe in style and get excited about the big one on Saturday, all I’m getting at the moment is groundhog day from last seasons FA cup.

Don’t allow that to happen, you can make the difference by getting off your stupid, stubborn high horse and putting it right.

Give the kids a chance, go after them tonight and tear them 11 new arseholes, then do the same to the Mancs, everyone in football will kick us now you invited them to, live with it and stop whining, this is Arsenal, our Arsenal, go and make us proud again.

5 nil the Arsenal if he picks the right team, and the right defence.

We’ll be singing Arsene, because we’re all Arsenal fans, we were before you got here and we will be long after you’ve gone, you are the manager that plays the greatest football I have ever seen, pick the right team and we can win this thing, after the spuds game I have never felt so bad, not since we lost to Ipswich in the FA cup final in 1978, against Stoke when you sent out that shocking team I wasn’t even upset, carry on doing that and you’ll lose me.

If you are concerned about the long term future of our club, then start winning stuff again otherwise the young kids starting out will be chavs or mancs and no one wants that, in ten years time we’ll never fill the ground, do you want that as your legacy?

We’re all behind you, don’t let us down, we are worth more than that.

Have a great day Grovers.

  9. HusAllmighty Says:

Great post – I hope we do show what we’re capable of tonight.
Hopefully it gives the guys their confidence back for Saturday, which really is a must win game. Not just to stay in touch at the top, but to show that we are in with a shout this year. If Hull managed to stick 3 goals past the mancs, then we must have a chance of getting a result from this game.
Come on you gunners…make us proud!

  10. no.1 goon Says:

wenger is gonna turn this around i can tell,i love it when he has he’s back up.
im feeling really confident we are gonna win some silverwear this year.
these setbacks are a slap in the face to the bighead players, but now i think there’s gonna be a change.
all this talk about chelski and manu are unbeatble is rubbish!
goons we need to get behind wenger and the boys because we are still in this race.

  11. Xeeez Says:

    hey guys!

  12. no.1 goon Says:

i would go for coquelin tonight,
but because he played in the reserves he wont even be in the squad,so i would 100% go for ramsey, the kids ready!

  13. no.1 goon Says:

big raddy ive been wondering how do i change my one?

  14. kelsey Says:

If we win tonight,we are more or less assured to be top of the group, and can focus on the PL not like the cock up at seville.I hope wenger realises that and doesn’t rest players for the man u game.fernabache don’t travel well, but it could have been 5 all away.

  15. Pedro Says:

Open yourself a wordpress account, go to settings, change your avatar and let the good times roll!

So… what a victory for Obama eh?

    He’s a West ham fan… so I’m a little disappointed… but I am sure Bush was a Spud… so marginally better!

  16. no.1 goon Says:

    thanks pedro gonna try now!!!

  17. Big Raddy Says:

No.1. Go to WordPress in Le Grove’s Affiliates. Create an account and then upload a pic.

    Easy.

Pedro … could you put something permanent up to assist new Le Grovers? Le Grove is so much prettier with our avatars

  18. Evo in Oz Says:

    isnt gallas still out?

wont it be toure-silvestre in the morning?

  19. Xeeez Says:

    Sagna Djorou Silvest Clichey

    Nasri Cesc Ramsey Vela

    Diaby
    Nikki

I say drop RVP coz he aint gonna be there against the Mancs and Chelski and Wigan. We need continuity. But I know he is gonna play him.
Bring Theo in for Vela/Diaby against the Mancs after assessing the performances!

  20. Big Raddy Says:

    Kelsey,

I think he will play a very strong team tonight. It will allow him to play weakened (Cesc-less) teams for the remainder of the CL league games.

RvP will almost certainly start, though I have made my feelings about that clear.

  21. iceman Says:

Well said Geoff….Our season starts tonight….

…..and on Sat let’s stuff shrek & co. with an U21 side (considering Fabianski plays in goal)

  22. Evo in Oz Says:

i reckon Nasri could play midfield in the Cesc position if he needed to?

he isnt the speediest winger, but he is bloody good thou!

  23. Xeeez Says:

Evo Gallas is out. And I think its gonna be Silvest and Kolo. But I want JD!

  24. iceman Says:

Pedro where’d you hear that about Obama ?

  25. rico01 Says:

Morning all, top notch post, and lets whip their hides tonight ;)

  26. vandejie Says:

Good post…That’s why i like this blog.

  27. Evo in Oz Says:

RVP will definitely play against the turks cause wont he be suspended for the scum game?

  28. rookie Says:

Ade is out for three weeks…so short of strikers…..ramsay should partner cesc…

  29. Big Raddy Says:

Sorry Pedro – I didn’t say how much I enjoyed your post. I got caught up in the excitement of trying for a podium position.

And well done to Obama, although I think I could have won after 8 years of GB !!

  30. Xeeez Says:

Yea I know RVP will play..but I feel we shouldn’t. He’ll give one of his outstanding performances and then we’ll be cursing him for getting a red and being suspended!

  31. rico01 Says:

Raddy, you must try harder for a gold medal ;)

  32. choy Says:

    morning all..

pedro/geoff what the fuck is the sock doing on in there on the right :?:

  33. choy Says:

rookie where did you read that?

  34. Big Raddy Says:

    Rico,

Thankfully I am one of those boring people who believe taking part is more important than winning ;-)

Arsene Wenger risks backlash from FA with verbal lunge at Arsenal’s opponents

  36. Evo in Oz Says:

great post by the way, however im over the song chat. he played a ripper game against west ham, probably his best game, other that the other good games he has played at CB.

my problem is with Wenger when he plays Song in addition to Cesc and Denilson, so that pushes someone out of position. my other problem is when he played song at RB. none of those options work other than him playing in midfield with 2 out and out wingers on the side, or CB only.

  37. rico01 Says:

Raddy, I dont believe you, you are a man, the coming first thing is always important

  38. Arsenal Tom Says:

give RVP the first 45 then vela the 2nd with nik b starting, that way RVP can help us get comfortably in front and vela can get in the groove… toure and silvestre at CB… we all know he’ll play them.

and he’ll probably stick denilson wide right again with cesc, song and nasri

  39. Maciek Says:

    Hi everyone!
Since Gallas, Eboue, Walcott and Adebayor are all out I will go for very controversial line-up:

    Fabianski

    Clichy Djoruou Toure Sagna/Gibbs

    Nasri Ramsey Coquelin Wilshaire

    Vela Bendtner

Subs: Almunia, Fabregas, Song, Merida, RVP

    What do You think?

  40. choy Says:

Arsenal Boss Wenger: Vela Still Learning

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has claimed teenage striker Carlos Vela is not yet ready for the week in and week out rigours of the Premiership.

The 19-year-old Mexican international has been impressive throughout the preseason and has a role in the first-team in the Cup games and may feature tonight in the Champions League group game against Fenerbahce.

Wenger is also an admirer of Vela’s finishing skills, but the work on the player’s combative side is ongoing.

He said: “I believe Carlos is an outstanding striker and will be a top goalscorer as he is one of the best finishers I have seen personally.

“He is 19 and plays at a top club but we believe he needs not to improve his finishing or his technical qualities but to adjust to the combative side of the English game.”

  41. Big Raddy Says:

Not in this household !! Rico

  42. Pedro Says:

    Raddy, good idea!

    Iceman, check BBC news…

  43. rico01 Says:

    Raddy :)

  44. Geoff Says:

    Morning fellow Grovers!

So if Vela isn’t ready, why doesn’t he play in the reserves and why does he play for Mexico, and how comes Song is ready???

    What is he special?

  45. Arsenal Tom Says:

if eddie was 3 weeks from proper training about 2 weeks surely in another 2 weeks from he can begin playing bit parts??? if ade is out for 3 weeks we could really use him

  46. Evo in Oz Says:

yep id say it will be RVP and Bendtner, but i will be raging if Vela doesnt get more than 10 mins in tomorrows game!

  47. choy Says:

    geoff.. arsene knows!!!!

  48. Geoff Says:

Maciek what’s Song doing on your bench? other than that, I like it.

  49. Big Raddy Says:

Choy, What is true of Vela is also true of Nasri, who is only two years older than Vela.

If he is good enough, play him.

  50. rico01 Says:

Good point Geoff, if these kids are not ready, they should all be in the reserves, and AW should buy players who are ready

  51. Big Raddy Says:

    Morning Geoff.

  52. Arsenal Tom Says:

geoff… if he’s not ready… loan him for 6 months! im sure there would be plenty of takers for him and after 6 months he’d be used to the english game even if it was the championship… its pretty simple

  53. gooner-pak Says:

well there was arsenal website some one uggested to play toure perminant with cesc… what do u guy say

  54. choy Says:

vela is ready… as is ramsey .. i think wenger is being overprotective!

  55. Pedro Says:

More tickets in Le Exchange guys!

  56. rookie Says:

Choy setanta sports broke this news and quoted Wenger that Ade will be out for three weeks.

  57. Arsenal Tom Says:

reserve football is shit… players like wilshire, ramsey, randall, vela, should all be loaned out… if they are as good as we think they’d have no problem getting a game

  58. Adebayor......papa Says:

    why am i late everyday????????

  59. Adebayor......papa Says:

    Clichy should be rested

  60. Arsenal Tom Says:

gooner-pak… i say that wenger said it will never happen so its kind of irrelevant. he only plays the players out of posistion that we dont want not the ones we do

  61. rookie Says:

not loaning vela ill come in handy as we are without all of our other strikers…and he will certainly get more time now..

  62. Big Raddy Says:

AT. Good point about a loan period for Vela. But isn’t that why he was in Spain?

  63. xeeez Says:

    HIYA!

  64. Geoff Says:

Vela’s been out on loan for 3 years, scores a hat trick against Sheffield and he’s not ready? Who voted for Song in the vote thingy???

  65. Arsenal Tom Says:

rookie… he’ll do to vela, jack and ramsey what he does with djourou… rave about him and give him fuck all playing time

  66. Big Raddy Says:

I think it was Pedro, Geoff …..

  67. Mandanda Says:

I’d rather have Barack Obama in there, he’ll charm our opponents into submission

  68. Arsenal Tom Says:

raddy… that was to get a european passport i think more than experience… plus playing in spain wont really help get used to the rough and tumble of english foota… just look at reyes!

give him 6 months at another prem club who will use him week in week out and we’ll see him change

  69. xeeez Says:

Vela has to start tonight if we want him in against MANCS!

  70. iceman Says:

Ok guys………… I’m not taking AW’s side here but maybe he doesn’t want what happened to Reyes to happen to Vela………

You see where I’m coming from?

  71. Geoff Says:

Raddy, morning, I think you could be right as I haven’t seen Mandanda on yet!

  72. LondonGooner Says:

We currently sit 4th in the league and top of our Champions League group having played some excellent football in that competition. We have lost 3 games already playing poorly in the process. When we play well we can steamroller anyone. So don’t be too disheartened, there are 89 other teams out there that would gladly swap places with us and we can challenege for trophies, maybe not the premier league, but the other 3 we are capable of winning.

  73. Geoff Says:

    Oops sorry Mandanda!

  74. Mandanda Says:

    speak too soon Geoff hehehehehe

  75. xeeez Says:

Hey AT, Eduardo seemed a lil week at the start..but he didnt need to be loaned out!

  76. choy Says:

xeeez… i don’t think you would loan out thierry’s replacement!!!

  77. choy Says:

vela does not need to be loaned out.. look at his pal santos.. he plays for the spuds!!!!

  78. kelsey Says:

Now I know that I am one of his biggest critics but I also think that sometimes we don’t give Wenger enough credit for some of the good he has done even in recent times. Seriously I am still in awe of the skill and cunning that he used to full effect in the summer in the transfer market. I can’t think of any other manager that would have been able to have completed transfers of the likes of Bischoff and Silvestre right under the noses of Man U, Chelsea, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona etc. Genius – how does he do it?

  79. iceman Says:

xeeez Eduardo came from the Croatian league…..think of a league full of Boltons……

    Catch my drift?

  80. rookie Says:

arsenal tom he does nt give ramsay or JD chance because he has other favorites in that place but he has no other option upfront so he has to play vela more..

  81. xeeez Says:

Iceman I thought the Croatian league wouldn’t be so fast though..so he took some time to adjust to the pace maybe..it may be a lot physical thought and that might have helped!

  82. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Evening/morning all

    Geoff

Nice post, though I must admit I don’t reckon he’ll play JD20, & it really shits me.

    ‘78 F A Cup? I’ve got that programme too.

  83. xeeez Says:

I’m sure he’ll play KOLO and Dolphinhead at the back today!

  84. Arsenal Tom Says:

xeeez… edaurdo was 24 and a regular Croatian international so it’s not really the same.
i only say these things cos wengers not playing these people but raves about them…

if they arent ready to play for us then let them go to a club in the same or similar league where they are of the suitable standard.

vela’s played about 2 hours of competitive football for us… is that really gonna help him get used to the physical side of the english game???

  85. ishtiaq577 Says:

would really like to see JD play…

  86. Geoff Says:

LondonGooner you used to be Baller right?

Gnarley I remember it vividly, I actually walked through Plaistow park and contemplated suicide, I really did, so when someone tells me I’m not a real Arsenal fan, I get pretty angry, I was going to top myself before most of those cunts were born!

  87. Arsenal Tom Says:

rookie… diaby is ahead of vela up front we saw that away to fener. van persie is banned for 3 prem games and vela will be lucky to start one of those… especially considering the opposition… plus theo will be back for the mancs to so thats another option up front.

  88. Geoff Says:

Xeez Dolphin head was Diarra, do you mean fish head?

  89. Evo in Oz Says:

vela is ready to go, get him on the god damn pitch!

  90. Geoff Says:

ishtiaq577 you used to be Rookie, why is everyone changing their names today, new beginnings?

  91. Big Raddy Says:

I had all the programmes Home & away, for the season 70/71. Including all the Cup games, and the ticket stub for the Final.

Sold them all in a job lot on Ebay.

    How much did I get? …… A measly fucking £100 !!

    Wish I hadn’t sold them now……………. Piss.

  92. gunnerbenno Says:

the likes of JD20, Ramsey and especially Vela have to start tonight IMO

Evo, GG9 or any of the other aussies on here, is the game live on sbs or epsn tonight?

  93. Big Raddy Says:

Geoff, I finished with a long term girlfirend that day after she told me …..”it’s only a game”.

    No regrets…..

  94. Big Raddy Says:

Off out now. Have a fine day fellow Gooners.

I will be back later for the run up to the game It will be a stream for tonight.

  95. Keyser Says:

If Vela’s not quite ready, then he’s not ready, playing in La Liga is far removed from playing in the premiership.

He trains with the first team because it gets him used to all the players he’ll be playing with week in week out and also the same intensity, he’ll be used either out of complete neccessity or eased gradually in. There’s the FA Cup and the Carling Cup aswell as if we qualify tonight a couple of Champions league games.

I think he might get a proper run out tonight, but Id rather we got the 3 points done and dusted first.

  96. Franchise Says:

Hi guys Big Raddy I need to get an avatar but theres already a franchise at wordpress I need to get a new name but keep my identity. Any suggestions guys? by the way nice post Geoff

  97. Geoff Says:

Typical bird that doesn’t understand eh Raddy, thank god we got Rico, QOS, Peaches and Skandibird, not too many of them eh!

Gunnerbenno formerly known as Benno, that makes three!

  98. Big Raddy Says:

Franchise. Ask Pedro or Choy. But I think you can use say Franchise 01, and then use a nickname of Franchise for your blogging. But I am not sure.

    Ciao

  99. Maciek Says:

Geoff, You really DISLIKE Song as much. I can see that almost everyone here at Le Grove, don’t value him. But, how many chances did he get my friends? And I’m talking about plaing in his favourite position( CDM) not i the central of our defense or as a RB. Poor Song’s form is “thans to ” Wenger and his stubborness.

  100. Pedro Says:

Franchise… don’t worry about the name that registers… you can change your user name once you have an account.

You just go to settings, then change the display name.

  101. kenny smith Says:

I voted for coquelin but only cause i think he would be better at DM than ramsey would. If you just wanted 2 pure creative central midfielders then id go with Ramsey. Ramsey and coquelin are the real deal though.

Id like to see the team tonight as

    Fabianski
    Sagna
    JD
    Gallas
    Clichy

    LJW
    Ramsey
    Diaby
    Nasri

    RVP
    Vela

i think we should maybe rest cesc and give him time to recoverfor the mancs game cause if we want anything out of that game he will need to be somewhere near good form. I don’t want to see Bendtner and RVP in the same team as they are both similar in the way that they drop deep to collect the ball all the time. Plus i really want to see VELA!!!!

Fenerbache won’t play 10 men behind the ball so i think having Ramsey in midfield will work as he will have a bit of freedom… and as diaby to clean up in midfield

  102. Adebayor....papa Says:

    clichy needs rest

  103. Adebayor....papa Says:

why are people still including sagna

    ?

    isn’t he injured?

  104. Evo in Oz Says:

clichy is on fire this season, he is taking the bull between the horns and just going for it, i love him!

  105. Arsenal Tom Says:

ADE… nah he’s back mate, the rest are out tho

  106. kenny smith Says:

sorry i think gallas is still injured so play silverstre…. Sagna is fit its eboue who is still out.

  107. Adebayor....papa Says:

Cesc and Clichy on bench for this match

    Ramsey and Diaby to start

Gibbs and Toure at the Full backs

Martian and DJ in the middle

  108. kenny smith Says:

Ade is out for 3 weeks

  109. benno Says:

Geoff it’s because everyone is signing up to wordpress to get avatars, but then there display name is taken, and they haven’t changed they’re display name back to what it formerly was.

  110. ishtiaq577 Says:

Geoff how do you know i was rookie??? :p ishtiaq577 is my wordpress account username so thats why..still not sure about what name to use though i think i ll use “gunnerrookie” the third one :p that seems more appropriate….sorry i am new to all this wordpress stuff..

  111. Adebayor....papa Says:

    thanks Tom

but shouldn’t we rest sagna for saturday?

  112. Adebayor....papa Says:

    yeah kenny

sonny got hurt real bad !! :)

  113. Franchise Says:

    Thanks guys i’ld try it

  114. Mark C Says:

Re Song, dont give him such a hard time.

We all know he is not a midfielder, but he could do a job at CB if required.

  115. Arsenal Tom Says:

ade… nah, he should be able to play these games… he can miss the next CL game once we’ve qualified if he’s tired!

  116. benno Says:

Any one fancy Theo up top if he’s fit on sat, I know Vidic will try to eat him alive but it will allow us to play 4-4-2 even if Wenger doesn’t want to play Vela, and also it would allow us to pin Evra back more because he’s their quickest defender, so would have to help cover Theo’s pace

  117. no.1 goon Says:

cant do my profile pic now,
work has blocked gravatar.com, damn lol

  118. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    benno

I was going to ask the same question, but I checked the gig guide on Soccer Bloody Soccer (SBS) & ESPN but its not The Arsenal.

  119. benno Says:

GG9, do you know if it is on repeat at any time during the day on espn, coz i’ve got the day off of uni and work :D :D

  120. rico01 Says:

Its probable that Gallas, Ade and Theo are not really injured, its manure on Saturday, and the mind games have begun – we have the players to win the game easy tonight, but as said, its whether or not Arsene can see beyond the end of his nose!!

  121. Geoff Says:

Maciek he plays almost every game! How many chances has Diaby or Ramsey had compared to him? It’s not that I don’t like him, he’s just shit, that’s all.

    ishtiaq577 I know everything!

  122. Franchise Says:

Song is not this Song is that. If the guy could do either there wouldn’t be so much confusion. He is not Arsenal material period. re Mark C

  123. rico01 Says:

Great result for Chelsea last night ;)

  124. Arsenal Tom Says:

benno… i thought that earlier… he’s another option up there, andwenger will probably stick eboue on the right to keep ronaldo quieter anyway… lets hope eboue can do to him, rooney & berba what he did to jt

  125. rookie Says:

at last found a way to get my old name with the account.. haha everything set now…my fellow gooners call me with my current name “ROOKIE” now that shud nt give any confusions Geoff?? Right????

  126. Geoff Says:

    ishtiaq577 that’s better!

  127. no.1 goon Says:

thanks pedro and big raddy anyway, will sort it out at home.

  128. rico01 Says:

rookie – dont feel alone, i am crap with computers, and had to ask for the idiots guide on WordPress, but eventually got there ;)

  129. Evo in Oz Says:

our game is replayed on ESPN tomorrow arvo

  130. Mark C Says:

Franchise- Song at the end of last season, whilst playing as CB played well.

The only time this season he has played at CB, in the Carling Cup he played well and we kept a clean sheet.

Clichy is a great player, but if Wenger asked him to play in goal or as a Striker I guess he would struggle and you would say he is crap. – not Arsenal quality…

  131. Matt Says:

I would be tempted to play Ramsey on the right of a 4-5-1 tonight, and give JD a start….

    Aluminium

    Sagna JD Toure Clichy

    Ramsey Denilson Cesc Nasri

    Diaby

    Bendtner

  132. rookie Says:

haha rico…well i m not bad with computers it was just that my nickname was not appearing in here although i had changed it on word press… actually i am addicted to computer and internet spend about 15 hours using it daily lols… by the way did anyone see Gerrard crying like a baby last night for a penalty..that is disgraceful………

  133. Arsenal Tom Says:

rookie… 15 hours?? u must know some good porn sites my friend!!!!

theat pen was disgraceful… and he says he would never dive…. just like that fat troll from manc land… fucking liars

  134. Geoff Says:

Matt he’ll play RVP, no doubt, then put Diaby in midfield and sack Denilson.

  135. kingsley Says:

i agree he should start playing these guys….althought sanchez watt? sorry but he doesnt even make the reserve squad.

  136. benno Says:

Arsenal Tom, aye it would be good, but is Eboue going to be fit? and tbh i really do dislike seeing Eboue playing anywhere more advanced up the pitch than Rb. How much faster do you recon Theo is than ronaldo, presuming he is actually faster??

  137. rookie Says:

    haha arsenal tom..yes i do but i don’t think i m allowed to reveal em here…lols

  138. Geoff Says:

Kingsley not only does he make the squad, he scores, I rate him.

  139. Dchall Says:

    Hi guys

Le Boss has his flaws, the biggest one being defensively he has no clue, he inherited a great but ageing defense, then was lucky to get Campbell and Toure together. He looks for quick fixes defensively and most of them do not work. It is not coincidence that Arsene said he was in need of a Centre Back, however try as you might getting a good on is always going to be a problem without big money. A world class centre back commands the area, gives confidence to the midfield and goal keeper and will attack all ariel balls with passion. We need one of those and thats priceless. If Le Boss gets Keown thens im sure thats the first thing he will say. watch this space and hope we are not too far behind by January transfer window.

  140. ethangunner Says:

i voted ramsey as did 64% of us .. but id prefer to see jack next to cesc , go with flamboyant passing .it worked last season . both would have a bit more to do defensively but over all with nasri and walcott on the wings i think it all SPELLS ATTACK !!!!!!!

i might compensate for our steroid shrunk strikers ..

just off topic every black nation in the world is going nuts that America has there 1st black president ! is this anti – white racism ?? i mean , if we danced around in klu klux clan masks when bush – howard or blair was in office we would be construed as nazi’s wouldn’t we ?

  141. Evo in Oz Says:

well im out lads and lady.

    catch you all tomorrow.

come on the arsenal, this game is there for the taking, lets get back on track and on the way to the CL next round!

    cheers

  142. franchise79 Says:

    testing 123

  143. no.1 goon Says:

anyone heading to the game tonight, ive never asked where everyone from le grove drinks during match days?
would be intresting to know? lol

  144. franchise79 Says:

hey pedro im still known as franchise79

  145. benno Says:

just saw the liverpool penalty…what a load of bollox!! and you wonder why there top of the league and there champions league group getting decisions like that.

  146. no.1 goon Says:

only old trafford and anfield you cant get descions like that.
    it never happends anywhere else!

  147. Geoff Says:

I’m with you Ethan, people were voting for him because of the black thing, that is racism, thing is though, he’s half white, like Theo and Lewis Hamilton, I often wonder what Lewis’s mum thinks when they say the first black world champion, I wonder is she feels she’s not a real person and doesn’t exist!

  148. Franchise Says:

    im back

  149. no.1 goon Says:

and gerrard the tosser did nothing,
he’s just as bad as ronaldo, liverpool always get away with that crap.

  150. Geoff Says:

No1 we all generally meet at the Small and Beautiful, next to the Tavern in Blackstock road, I may have to go straight to the ground though tonight as I’ll be running close.

  151. Geoff Says:

    Back from where Franchise?

  152. Confidentgoner Says:

    folks,

This game is crucial, very crucial. We win it well, we find the confidence to beat Man u and claim back our season. You have said it so well, Geoff. Again a lot depends on one man – AW. His line up, his sub strategy and the way he links with his troops today will determine success as well as AW’s future.

If I had my way, this will be my line up.

    Fabianski

    Sagna Gallas Sylvestre Clichy

    Djourou (Song)

    Wilshire Cesc (Ramsey) Nasri (diaby)

    Bent Vela ( Dudu )

  153. Arsenal Tom Says:

benno… theo’s faster but its not instinctive for him to keep an eye on their attacking players… id rather free him up a bit cos because there will be gaps

  154. Matt Says:

    I could live with that Geoff… ;-)

    Ethan,

No way he will start Wilshere.

I’m with you on how good he is, i think he is the best 16yr old i have seen since Gascoine, but you can’t chuck him in now, too much pressure and not the time to be relying on a kid.

  155. Franchise Says:

You wrong to think like that ethan and geoff. If whites have gone through the segregation that blacks have experienced then it would be a different thing. The world has been historically racist so if a predominantly white America can vote a black man as president then it shows that things are changing. No matter how u choose to address it its a victory for humanity

  156. ethangunner Says:

hey dont get me wrong ,im not racist living in thailand FFS !
but i think its a bit of an injustice when you see half the African nations going nuts over him being appointed president ! they say kick racism out of football . but they wouldn’t be celebrating if bush was back in power so what are they really saying to the world ????

i mean really ? what message does that spell to all the whites who are watching it ???

whoopppie burn the white man !!! – i actually liked him the best out of all of them anyhow but to see that crap makes me re-assess the black mans plight !

  157. Geoff Says:

He’s not black Franchise and if I went back a 100 years my relative would have been up chimnies, you need to move on, stop brining up the past I don’t.

  158. ethangunner Says:

    matt
you know i dont think wiltshire feels pressure !
i never saw it once .. even V real madrids near full strength squad ..
i think it would be worth a try ! but im with you on the wengers ways theory ..

wenger has a pecking order and jack is last on it !
which is BS in my books !

  159. Geoff Says:

Confident, you accidentally put Song in your line up!

  160. Geoff Says:

If he doesn’t watch it he’ll fuck off to the chavs in January.

  161. Stu Says:

I voted for Le Coq just because he is a DM. No other reason apart from that. Song is supposed to be a DM but only played well against WHU, Denilson makes Cesc look bad for the wrong reasons and Ramsey is basically just a young welsh Cesc. HE could even turn out better if we are lucky.

Just wondering tho, what ever happened to Merida. He got a couple of CC minutes last season but hasn’t been seen since. Im sure he wouldn’t disappoint.

  162. Franchise Says:

Would u rather see Afghanis celebrate 9/11? There is something to celebrate about here even Whites all over the world are joyous that ppl looked beyond the race issue and voted for the right candidate with the better manifesto. And Geoff u guys asked why black nations were celebrating so I gave u the answer.

  163. kelsey Says:

Vela had two full seasons over here, what is wenger talking about saying he is not ready.

can we put the fucking Song thing to bed once and for all.He was useless here, useless at Charlton and still useless now.

The only player I would loan out as there is a chance for him to become better is Denilson.

We all have our opinions but under a lie detactor test wenger couldn’t name his best 11 as keeps experimenting with players out of their natural position, why because he let players go and replaced them with ones for the future.

I would play rvp upfront with Diaby behind, give ramsey a good 45 minutes and put fabianski in goal, just to give Almunia a little message.

  164. Stu Says:

Randall seems to be highly rated by Wenger but i just dont see it. He is an OK passer but never does anything special.

  165. avenell Says:

Merida played for the stiffs monday..

    Morning all, Geoff/ Pedro..

  166. Rob From Aus Says:

    Geoff

Thats some deep shit that post man, Right on My English Brother!

  167. rookie Says:

ethan the thing is if Bush had won that wud ve been a normal thing which every one expects… because no one ever expected a black man to be a president of US…now after being on the receiving end of the racism for some time if a black man comes to the power in the most powerful country in the world that means a new era is beginning..and i agree with franchise that all this stuff from african nations is due to the fact that every one can see the things are changing… and it actually can be the start of an end to the historic problem of racism…

  168. Stu Says:

    Fabainski
    Sagna JD Silvestre(?) Clichy(c)
    WIlshere Ramsey Diaby Nasri
    Vela Nik

The only thing im not sure of is whether to stick with Kolo instead of Fish.

  169. Geoff Says:

Thanks Rob, Franchise, I asked nothing, I merely said Obama is not a black man, his mum was white, there’s an irony there.

  170. Franchise Says:

Ethan I dont even understand why u see it as an injustice. Its really strange

  171. ArsenalKenya Says:

    COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!!

Let’s support whichever team Wenger plays tonight as long as it has the right defence.

I don’t want to see any Song in this team …..I prefer JD and Silvestre…

I’LL BE WATCHING THE GAME TONITE AS I CELEBRATE OBAMA’S VICTORY…

Arsenal can achieve anything they want this season if they put their heads into what they are doing…

OBAMA has achieved it and YES ( ARSENAL ) WE CAN!!!!

COME ON NOW AND ASHAME THESE COWARDS….

  172. Geoff Says:

Rookie Bush wasn’t in the election mate, it was McCain! And if he had won the world would have laughed its bollocks off, a 72 nut with his finger on the trigger, that’s why Obama got in.

  173. sarge69 Says:

I think the whole midfield situation has Wenger flummoxed. He knew what we had in the past was fully developed players with their strenghths and weaknesses fully defined and how they best complemented each other. Now he’s left with a bunch of under developed kids who’s sum of the parts make up what he’s looking for but don’t exist in anyone player.

  174. Rob From Aus Says:

Im sorry to be a cunt lads, but why the fuck would u care who the yank president is on a cool arse football site?

  175. ethangunner Says:

    fran

Would u rather see Afghanis celebrate 9/11?

a lot do by causing more havoc on there anniversarys.
My simple question was isnt it a form of racism to see someone celebrate the appointment just by color of skin !!!!???

  176. Pedro Says:

    Well said Geoff!

He was dignified in defeat and he ran a clean campaign which was commendable…

  177. Pedro Says:

Rob, he’s a west ham fan… I hear he might bail them out…

  178. Franchise Says:

Ok Geoff it would have been a lot more difficult I believe if he was totally black. That is another topic though. By the way it has been a historical thing that any one from a mixed parenthood i.e. black and white is considered black I dont know why but that is the way it is

  179. avenell Says:

He had one black parent and one white parent and was brought up by his white grandmother who sadly died a couple of days ago.

Why does the colour of his skin need a label? He is a man full stop

  180. Confidentgoner Says:

Tom is theo fit? Would play him for 45mins if he was fit

  181. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

With you on the race thing Geoff. Wasn’t Bob Marleys father in the British merchant navy, so he was white. That means reggae is a white mans music. Ja Mun :D

  182. Rob From Aus Says:

Lol a West Ham Fan??? Pedro Could u imagine him in Green St Hooligans? Maybe he Was Elijah Wood in diguise?!

  183. rookie Says:

i know Geoff that Bush was not in the elections he was not eligible after two consecutive terms i just mentioned him in response to ethan’s post and this is funny but i knew two months back that obama will win and their debates concreted it my belief that Obama will be heading to the white house…

  184. avenell Says:

Will they have to paint the white house? ;)

  185. Geoff Says:

Being brought up in Hawaii the lucky privileged bastard, hardly East Ham is it.

It’s what’s in your heart that counts, not the colour of your skin, remember that.

  186. Geoff Says:

I was joking by the way, what makes a person is how much money he has, call me shallow if you like!

  187. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Peace brother Geoff

  188. Franchise Says:

My point is Ethan I couldnt and still cant understand why u saw it as an injustice that black nations were celebrating Obama win. I myself being mixed made a comment in 2000 that I believed that America wld have a female president b4 a black one. There is something to celebrate about and it shouldnt bother u if certain nations celebrated. And u called for it with ur analogy with the ku klux klan. There is something wrong with being a KKK but there isnt anything wrong from coming from a black nation. be careful next time when u make analogies like that

  189. benno Says:

Aresnal Tom, if it came across that i was suggesting that Theo should keep an eye on ronaldo i’m sorry, i was just merely wondering who was faster of the two.

  190. Adebayor....papa Says:

    blokes

  191. rookie Says:

lols even CNN is has these headlines..”barak obama to be the first African-American president” any ways leave this debate and talk some football dudes…

  192. kelsey Says:

I can’t remember if he’s a blackburn or blackpool fan but you won’t here him sing come on the lillywhites. :)

  193. Geoff Says:

Now you are being silly Franchise, a woman president, fuck, that Hilary Clinton is the worst piece of shit ever to stand.

  194. Gunner8 Says:

Glad I’m in the majority with Ramsey and Cesc together, Geoff I think you picked the perfect team for me but AW seems to reward incompetence these days so I imagine Almunia, Toure, Silvestre, Song and RvP (yes he was a shower of shite) will all start although your selection would be the winning one… …the 442 btw with either Diaby or Ramsey partnering Cesc.

FFS Whilshire will be off to Inter if AW continues like this, he is outstanding whenever he plays but old Arsene prefers Eboue??????????????????????

Mornign Grovers and let’s get behind the Gunners tonight

  195. xeeez Says:

    …..was away..
@ arsenal Tom ..well yea I get ur point man..the age diff with eduardo is there..but he didn’t play much either till december! maybe he wants coach Vela all by himself..u know…the ARSENAL way..hahaha

    @ geof..well Yea fishhead or whatever :)

  196. Pedro Says:

I think Ethan is saying, did African Americans vote for Obama based on his colour… or did they vote on his policies? If it was colour… there is something wrong with that.

That is a dumb as voting for someone based on their hair style…

Anyway… off politics… how about football?

    Score predictions?

    I think 2-0…

  197. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Franchise

can you explain to me why it takes 3 years & $100,000,000 plus to elect a president. And after all that there is still a chance no one might even vote coz its not compulsory. No wonder the place is fucked.

  198. Franchise Says:

FOOTBALL YES YES YES YES YES YES

  199. xeeez Says:

    4-0 !

  200. Gunner8 Says:

    6-4 either way… …why not

  201. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

Yes Pedro politics & religion are 2 subjects to avoid.

  202. benno Says:

Pedro, no predictions for me, their a cursed ground after predicting us to beat spurs and the scum :@

  203. Franchise Says:

THE WHOLE WORLD IS COMPLEX AND FUCKED UP ANYWAY. ELECTIONS, ECONOMY, SONG

  204. rookie Says:

don’t worry mates wilsher will not go anywhere he is just 16 & half he knows he has a future here…n if wenger does not buy established players he must know how to keep his priceless youngsters..

  205. ethangunner Says:

    fran

then you are further proof of what i am talking about ..
its ok for you to make statements of the 1st black president ..
but in actual fact shouldn’t you just strive for the best man for the job ?
its like your waiting to strive for something since 2000 that sounds a lot like your own form of racism .. ?

so be careful what you say also ..

    rascism is a 2 way street !

that’s the whole point equal respect !
i have plenty of black freinds before you start thai – indian – afro american – english ..
so dont talk to me like its a sacred topic …

  206. Geoff Says:

You forgot to add football to that list Gnarley!

  207. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Franchise

The whole world makes more sense when Arsenal wins.

  208. Stu Says:

    Fabainski
    Hoyte Bartley JD Clichy
    Wilshere Ramset Coquelin Nasri
    Vela Nik….

As you say, keep the experiments going!

  209. Geoff Says:

You’ve got Thai friends, fucking hell.

  210. Bren Says:

Djourou or Kolo beside Cesc for me – either literally ploncked in front of the two centre halfs. We need a stopper.

    I would go with;

Fabianski – agree that Almunia needs a shot across the bows from the manager

Sagna / Djourou / Gallas if fit / Clichy

    Ramsey / Cesc / Kolo / Nasri

    Bendtner / Vela

Diaby for Cesc if we go ahead – a rest will do him no harm.

  211. rookie Says:

ok dudes leaving for some time.. be right back…

  212. Pedro Says:

I am religious… The Arsenal Opus is my Bible, The Emirates is my Church, Wenger isn’t my God… but you get where I am going with this! haha!

  213. Franchise Says:

Guys no matter how we tend to discuss it on a blog it is way to complex for us to understand. The poorest communities in America are the black communities. Black America is about only 13% of the demographics. Those that have bothered to vote in the past have voted for governments that have failed them. about 90% of them voted for Obama mainly because they could relate with his race better. Is it right? No, Yes, May be. The whole world is full of diversity and 99% of the problem is related to it. Even the Irish and English cant stand themselves. U know what I mean. Its fucked up anyway

  214. Geoff Says:

You mean the Grove is your church and Le Grove is your bible right?

  215. Confidentgoner Says:

    Geoff,

Good to keep Song out, tbh. I have in as sub in case JD gets injured but I hear JD should play at the back with Sylvestre as Gallas is injured.

The problem is that we have no DM of any repute. Dennilson is too attack minded and Diaby also. Am basing this on what we have on the ground. We may end up with Dennilson in that position.

  216. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

Ok all, hopefully I’ll be able to link up to TVU tomorrow. It would be just my luck. Big Johan starts, plays a blinder but I don’t get to see it. Bye for now.

  217. ethangunner Says:

    fuckin hell geoff
its pretty hard not too , the countries full of em :)

  218. xeeez Says:

Yea Bren a Quarterbackis an option but IMO cesc can’t play with a Quarterback!

  219. Franchise Says:

Ethan I’m not saying u are racist Im just surprised that u made tghat comment end of

  220. Geoff Says:

About time we started running it then Ethan, we saw what shittywatra did!

  221. Someone Says:

I’m a long time reader of this blog but this is my first time posting. I just had to do it, because you’re being completely ridiculous. You’re entitled to an opinion, but in MY opinion you’re belittling yourself with your opinion and as an extension, your blog.

I am not Wenger’s biggest critic, but as in recent circumstance (last few years) neither am I his biggest fan. I think his stubbornness has been his undoing.

People will go on about lack of experience but when we bring in Ramsey, Wileshire and Coquelin then we will fail miserably and I can guarantee you will be complaining as well. The latter two barely have any first team experience with Coquelin barely having any reserve experience and Ramsey does not have much Premier League experience. They may have the occasional good games, but the fact is they can’t play regularly in the first team without risking their career to injury or sustaining a consistent run. What is the point of one good game if they’re followed by five bad ones. Name 10 good, first team games the stated played have had.

Whilst it’s true that experience does not guarantee success, as Gallas has shown, neither does youth. Look at Michael Owen, he was burned down as a teenager and now struggles to string 10 games together.

Even Cesc Fabregas had a poor 6 months in his first season as a first team regular. Fact is, if those players are brought in, this team will go through a transition again.

If there’s one thing Wenger knows about, is player judgment and especially when it comes to youth. Yes, he’s made some mistakes but they left Arsenal didn’t they? And has had a lot of success. People slated Kolo when he came, Theo, Flamini and Adebayor. Even Eboue and Diaby have impressed this season. With 20+ years experience under his belt, I think he would know a little bit more about this than you.

The only player who should have a stake in the team is Johan and it baffles me why he isn’t considered.

The fact is, we’re a midfield enforced away from having the best team in the league. The fact that we don’t have won is Wenger’s fault but Coquelin, Wilshere and Ramsey are not the answer.

FYI, Song was one of the most sought after talents in world football before he signed for us.

He was in fact tracked by United as well as Inter and Lyon.

  222. ethangunner Says:

    Fran

i wish no disrespect , but i feel its a bit rich for a race who’s been striving for equality
(which i thought they had … anyhow )
to still be carrying on like pork chops over an appointment purely based on skin color !

you dont see the irish all come out with there bush tee shirts on saying a white man has just been elected president AGAIN ! …

  223. Geoff Says:

Franchise time to move on, I remember when Mugabe was voted in because of his colour and Rhodesia was the breadbasket of Africa, look at it now, the argumment is flawed.

Anyway we’ve done the election thing, back to football.

  224. Bren Says:

Xeeez – Cesc played very well with Senna in the Euro’s , allowed him go forward with purpose knowing that Senna was always behind covering him.

Our back four, whoever they are need all the help they can get at present.

Can Kolo do a Yaya – I think he could if given a chance.

As Obama would say – WE NEED CHANGE

  225. ethangunner Says:

    geoff

the latest from Taxing shittytwat is togo want to make him a consular ambassador for togo :)

    FUCK !!!

  226. Arsenal Tom Says:

confident… i thought theo was gonna be fit for man utd but wenger came out with ‘theo could be days, or weeks’ so thats pretty clear!!

if he’s fit id put him in with nik b… and tell theo run at vidic… vidic would be sent off my half time

  227. Arse&Nose Says:

    ethangunner,

What you have to understand is the reasoning behind the proclamations of Obama being the first Black President. It makes me cringe when I hear “first black” being said on the news, but when you look deeper into the reasons they say it it makes sense.

America has a far reaching history of discrimination against non-white people, from the slave trade, the destruction of Native Indian reservations to the civil war. Even now you have Americans who discriminate against Latinos.

So before moaning about the coverage of Obama “the first black” President, lets look at things in context and realise that it is a truly monumental achievement for someone who is non-white to become the most important person in a country that has such a history against non-whites.

  228. Geoff Says:

Hey everyone, I just allowed what may be an AKB on but I could be wrong, his name is someone and it’s a couple of posts back.

Song was never the most sought after players from Africa my friend, he played for Bastia, in the French second division.

  229. rookie Says:

    xeeez u from pakistan?????????

  230. Geoff Says:

    Arse&Nose, who cares a fuck.

  231. Confidentgoner Says:

    Folks,

Let’s keep politics, race bla … bla …bla out of the blog, the arguments are very divisive and does not help the blog. No matter who we are, I doubt if anyone elected to be who he is before birth. At least we all want the best for AFC and thats why we blog

  232. Geoff Says:

Anyone who wants to congratulate or talk about Obama, go on the Democratic web site or something.

  233. Stu Says:

Ya that someone did sound just a bit like an AKB. But it would have been a bit mean to deny him his first ever post. Its a big day for him.

  234. Franchise Says:

Why do the Spurs hate the Gooners? Its historical Ethan Most things in the present have characteristics based on the past. No matter how we choose to see things there is still Racism in the world and its evident everyday.

Heskey in Croatia etc. Why do companies have to make policies regarding employment to ensure that there is a mix of races in the work place?

That is why its a big shock that a country that is about 74% white (incl hispanic) 66% caucasian and historically racist voted for the right candidate as president. A few years ago it would have been unimaginable. It shows that thing are gradually changing and it is a cause to celebrate

  235. insidealbania Says:

Hello Grovers, The post today is exactly how I feel. We dont hate AW, we just dont like what he is doing. He has not bought any experience but refuses to play the talented kids. Its about time the likes of Rambo, JW, Vela, Coqlin, and big JD get their chance, otherwise what is the point of having them. If a team is not performing as you like then change it around, that is why we have a squad.

  236. Arsenal Tom Says:

    someone…

saying that if we play ramsey etc we will be in transition again… are we not in transition this year?? cos we’re sure as hell not serious title contenders… we dont even have a settled best 11!!!!

  237. Arse&Nose Says:

    Geoff,

    Intelligent people care :)

  238. Adebayor....papa Says:

are we playing NY Jets tonight?

  239. Pierre Says:

blimey, lot of comments on here today, and with champs league tonight we could be pushing 1000 posts!!

With RVP suspended for 3 games and TT injured because of “a tackle by Ryan Shawcross” (how pathetic is it to put that on the Arse.com injuries page?) This could be a chance for NickyB and Vela to shine!

  240. dennisdamenace Says:

No.1 Goon – I think most of the guuys drink in the S&B 9Small & Beautiful), i’ve tried many times to get my carcass down there, but am always strangely drawn away from there towards The Che Guervara………..i dunno, it maybe summink to do with the super sexy South American barmaids or is it the ambience!!!!

  241. rookie Says:

Geoff why did nt you post my last comment????

  242. Franchise Says:

As far as Arsenal is concerned tonight I dont really see tonight as the what makes our season. We have to stuff United on Saturday and I believe that they may need to have a bad day for that to happen. For tonight I would like to see

    ——————–Fab————————–

    ——————Denilson————————–

    ——Cesc——————–Diaby—————-

    ——PassMaster—————–Nasri————–

    ——————–Bendtner————————–

  243. Arsenal Tom Says:

    nasri for our midfield enforcer…

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is bristling over suggestions they were too soft to handle Stoke City’s up-and-at-’em approach on Saturday.

The French youngster told France Football: “People have seen me fighting back in our games against Newcastle and Sunderland, but I have always been like this.

“I know how to earn respect. I am an impulsive person, and in English football more than anywhere else you need to mark out your territory straight away. There are far more clashes than in the French game.

“I don’t like it at all when someone disrespects me. I’ll trade blows with anyone.

“That is the way I am. I don’t like letting people tread on my toes.”

  244. rookie Says:

    PassMaster is injured Franchise…

  245. Franchise Says:

Guys blogging is like conversing. You start with one topic and end with another. Ethan had smtin on his mind chose to let it out on Legrove, Some of us found what he said as inappropriate and chose to address it. Theres nothing wrong there. Its probably a breath of fresh air from ‘Song is shit’ and ‘Arsene must go’ comments that we’ve had in the last week

  246. benno Says:

Franchise, i agree with the formation but not the players, and Eboue is out… rest Cesc and play Nasri in his position, Kolo in for Denilson, Vela and Rvp on the wings

  247. choy Says:

    well said nasri

  248. Franchise Says:

    Ramsey for passmaster then

  249. Franchise Says:

Cesc is not tired. Lets qualify for th 2nd round asap then we can concentrate on improving our league form

  250. gazzap Says:

Look there are 3 players that just wont ever get a game in anything other than the CC – Ramsey, Vela and Djourou. Wenger would rather pull on a pair of boots and play himself than pick any of these impressive youngsters to play!

  251. Gunner8 Says:

DDM they used to be hotter and you can’t even get to the bar!

I love that boozer… …starting out at the BLackstock tonight and will try to make it to the S and B on the way to the stadia

  252. xeeez Says:

Yea Bren in Spain Senna is like a QB.. But he had Xavi with him. And up front? Well I wouldn’t dare compare Ade with any of the Spain’s strikers..re-stating my comment I feel CESC CANT PLAY WITH A QB IN ARSENAL :)

  253. Arsenal Tom Says:

any old boozer near finsbury park will do for me tonight!!!

  254. avenell Says:

Even when we qualify, we should try to win the group to get seeded top, Then we can avoid the big guns hopfully.

Playing a reserve team in the last group stages increases the chances of us being beaten in the knockout stages in February, so why take the gamble?

    But Wenger will!!

  255. Franchise Says:

Guys ild go for a 3-1 scoreline

  256. kelsey Says:

Franchise,i think you are wrong about tonight not making our season. We want qualification tonight and a win is needed right now,so that mentally we can prepare for the man.u game.
If we win or lose either of these games it doesn’t automatically end our season, but it sure won’t help.

  257. AFC Chris Says:

I hope all that are going to the game tonight, really really sing their hearts out. I would love to see an atmosphere similar to the spuds game. I know I shall be singing, I hope the stewards let us sing a gain. COA!!!

  258. Franchise Says:

Kelsy u beginning to sound like wenger. ‘Mentally’ Well said I dont expect us to loose tonight but I dont think all our problems have been down to Mentality of our players. Its been mainly down to bad team selections and attrocious substitutions. We were mentally up for tottenham who scored two ‘out of the blue goals’ the game should have ended up at 4-2 but wenger made sunstitutions and the team lost shape we couldnt keep the ball. Against stoke wrong team selection same as sunderland we are pying too much respect to these lower table teams and it has cost us 5 points in a week

  259. Confidentgoner Says:

Franchise, I agree. How can we save Arsenal from Wenger? Perhaps that should be the subject of another post, Geoff?

  260. Franchise Says:

Against Mancs this is what I would like to see

    —————————-Alum—————————

    Sagna————Gallas————Silve————-Clichy

    ————————————Cesc——————–

If Gallas aint fit then i wld play Toure (I know) as a CB. If pass master aint fit hmmmmmm I dont know

  261. Geoff Says:

Rookie you had the word Paki in there and it’s on the banned list with nigger and jew, so when it appears it goes into moderation until I see it and release it, it’s to stop the nutters spouting off, no offence!

  262. Arsenal Tom Says:

    franchise…theo???

  263. Adebayor....papa Says:

    obama or no one

  264. Geoff Says:

Mandanda you’re red carded, what a stupid comment.

  265. Arsenal Tom Says:

jon… what has denilson r song achieved in big games?

conceding 2 late goals at home in the north london derby? loosing at man utd?

  266. Gunner8 Says:

john I would rather Whilshere than Eboue any day and i would rather Ramsay than Song

  267. Arsenal Tom Says:

    enlighten us geoff…

  268. Gunner8 Says:

I think I need to change to Sensodyne toothpaste?

Now when I eat soups or cold drinks I am getting a pain in my teeth? does it help??

    Am I really getting old???

  269. kenny smith Says:

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-vela-is-one-of-the-best-i-have-seen

looks like Vela might be getting a game at some point.

Wenger thinks he is one of the best he has seen so he better back it up by playing him!!!

  270. rookie Says:

a bit off topic but i loved chelsea result last night…hope they get many more like that and would love if they don’t even make the knockouts…. and loose some league matches aswell especially on 29th of november..lol :p

  271. kenny smith Says:

where sis my last comment go?

  272. Adebayor....papa Says:

    franchise
i would still give cesc a rest

he looks as if he just got off a 20 stone whore after a long session

  273. kenny smith Says:

    oh its there sorry lol

  274. Geoff Says:

Rookie I answered you question, go back to 12.26

  275. Geoff Says:

Kenny you had an attachment, they go into moderation, you’re on now mate.

  276. Geoff Says:

Gunner8 stick to beer, that doesn’t hurt.

  277. Franchise Says:

A Tom I love theo to bits but I dont think he is the best link up player we have. If that team can sneak a goal in the second half United get desperate an push more men forward I wld bring thoe on at that point as there wld be acres of space for him to run cos that is what he loves to do. If theos starts and Evra pockets him like he did last year then who do u bring on to scare the shit out of mancs. On the other hand is things are not goins as planned unlike Arsene i wldn’t wait until the 60th min to unleash Theo he wld start the 2nd half for me. Its always nice to have a player that can change games on the bench. Mancs have at least three on the bench every game.

  278. kelsey Says:

Franchise,I think you misunderstood me or i didn’t explain myself properly.I agree what you have said and have posted the same things before.Of course the boss picks the team and makes the subs, but the players need to come out and get a good win tonight so their confidence is restored and are more focused for the man u game.Wenger must shoulder most of the blame by his weird team selection, and i am still convined that taking rvp and theo off was the wrong move against spurs but we are good enough not to have drawn that game, and the last 2 goals were elementary mistakes by clichy and cesc.I said before there is unrest in the camp with the lack of leadership on and off the pitch and some players i feel are losing the respect for wenger.it’s not a crisis, but comments like last night by wenger don’t help.does it fire up our boys or add even more pressure on them.I definitely have no intention of sounding like wenger.

  279. Someone Says:

Geoff, apologies about the Africans statement. You are 100% true in that Song played in France (actually he was eligble to play for their national team as well) but are wrong when you say that “does anyone remember the Mancs going after Song? No course they can’t.”
is incorrect. United, Inter and Lyon were all interested in Song and that is a fact. Therefore, making him a sought after player.

Personally, I don’t think he’s bad. Bit slow is all. The thing that annoys me about his style of play, is that he actually likes to go forward. So did the likes of Vieira and Flamini but they were all better than Song at that. Song is not bad going forward, but him going forward neutralizes the affect of Cesc, which just can’t happen.

Song is not a bad player, we can do better, but at the moment, is the best choice. Putting someone like Sanchezz Watt in ahead of him would be suicide.

I also disagree about dropping Almunia. I’d blame Kolo more for the Stoke debacle. I think Almunia was the most “on form” keeper in the league before the Spurs game and I don’t see why he can’t get that tag back. He has been a solid wall in most parts and generally one of our most influential and experienced players. I’m sure Almunia knows he’s made mistakes which won’t be tolerated. He has spent the majority of his career as a second string goalie, so he knows the value of being consistent so I don’t think we need to drop him to prove that point.

  280. Franchise Says:

Cesc is playing with lil confidence at the mo. I dont think he is tired thats the way he plays like Xavi and Guardiola. They dictate the game from the centre they can speed things up when they want to and slow it down also. The problem is that he doesnt get into the box as much as last season and even when he does now he hardly gets the pass. Hleb, Rosicky and Eboue last season always used to pick him up from wide positions. Walcott on the other hand always looks to take on defenders all the time

  281. Adebayor....papa Says:

i reckon bendtner and rvp will start and vela will get sometime

  282. Franchise Says:

Kelsey thats why i said ‘well said’ i agree with u that we need to win for confidence reasons

  283. rico01 Says:

Blimey, what a lot has gone on, and I am staying away from the American stuff, But Geoff, your comment on women – kuffuff ;)

  284. rookie Says:

Geoff it was not what you ve written it was the complete name of the country just asked xeet that question due to his avatar….why would i disrespect that name when i am from that particular country…

  285. Franchise Says:

I forgot VP was available tonight i wld stick him in my fener formation passmaster off and VP in. Still i wld play a 4-5-1

  286. finestcuts Says:

    ——————–Almunia

    Sagna——-Silvestre——–Toure——Clichy

    Fabregas——Diaby———–Denilson———–Nasri

    ———————— RVP ——–

    ——Bendtner———————————————-

Play Fabregas on right wing in the absence of Eboue and Walcott.

I doubt Vela will get a wing slot. Song could possibly take Denilsons place but we’ll see.

I’d sub Diaby and Denilson with Ramsey and Wilshere later in the game, Wilshere taking Fabregas’ place on the wing, Ramsey and Fabregas in the middle. I’d like to see Djourou given some time as well.
Eboue and Adebayor are out for a few games. Walcott and Gallas for a bit shorter.

Big game for us, an absolute must win because then we qualify for the Champions League and have until February to sort things out. In the league we’ll have to play to our strengths, if it’s doing more defending when you’re up than fair enough. Score prediction: Arsenal 2 Fenerbache 1

  287. rookie Says:

and one more thing Geoff i am the type of guy who choses his words very carefully because i would never want to hurt any one’s emotions whoever he is or from wherever he is i would never want to be in a racial or any other useless fight…just wanted to tell you because i am a lil new to the comments section…so wanted to clarify myself

  288. Franchise Says:

Finest Cesc on the right is a lil bit desperate in my opinion. Middle man for me in a 4-5-1 Same line up shaped differently

  289. patthegooner Says:

Loving Tony Pulis’s comment on Arsene Wengers change of tack regarding the game on Saturday…..

“I and my Football Club have tremendous respect for Mr Wenger and Arsenal football club, but as Mr Wenger is such a learned professional and on a great day in American electoral history, I would like to remind him of Abraham Lincoln’s great quotation, ‘You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time’.”

Superb, as for tonight, I would like to see Fabianski, Djourou, Ramsey and Vela get a game but I bet Song is in there at the expense of one of them.

    Comfortable home win please.

  290. Geoff Says:

Rookie, I know that but Pakistan has the word Paki in it, I know you’re not disrespecting it, it’s the computer, when it sees the word Paki it stops it going out.

Otherwise a nutter could post something offensive and fuck off, it’s for your protection my friend.

Rico, you can’t like Hilary surely, that was the women bit!

  291. xeeez Says:

Yup Cesc on the right doesn’t make it IMO as well!

  292. Geoff Says:

Mandanda you’re welcome back on when you stay off the race issues, we’ve done those.

  293. Geoff Says:

Pat, I thought that was Churchill’s quote?

  294. kelsey Says:

If wenger grew some balls he should ship out song, eboue and denilson in january on loan or whatever, tell rvp NOW that if he doesn’t cut it out he’s off and tell ade that on 80k a week he would like to see an improvement in his game or he is dropped.tell bedntner to prove he is worth keeping, and ban them all from talking to the media.ramsey, wilshere eduardo(hopefully)vela and walcott (a whole 90 minutes)

change the word stubborn for ruthless.fergie wouldn’t take all this bullshit would he.no player is bigger than the club, but leopards don’t change their spots,so i suppose i am living in a dream world.

  295. rookie Says:

i understand Geoff and i appreciate that you take such measures…just wanted to tell that i m not one off those nutters ..lols

  296. kelsey Says:

ramsey etc should be put in now i meant to say.

  297. patthegooner Says:

Geoff, I don’t know whose it was originally but it is very apt for some of the comments floating around recently.

So where do you reckong Song will play tonight, RB, CB, CM or maybe CF in place of Ade?

  298. Geoff Says:

    Rookie, I know that mate!

Kelsey, couldn’t agree more but I think that Denilson may come good, Ramsey in though Polldaddy.com can’t be wrong.

  299. patthegooner Says:

I am not sure on Denilson, sometimes he shows potential but there is too much inconsistency in there for me. he is the kind of player that should be getting experience in the reserves and maybe even on loan to a lower premiership team or maybe even Spain.

  300. Geoff Says:

Pat nice avitar, I reckon next to Cesc though the Ade replacement could happen.

    Pragmatic cunt springs to mind.

  301. markcha Says:

where do we need Vela more, out wide as Walcott and nasri are out, orin the middle as Adebayor is out, with Eduardo?

Fabregas has to be played centrally.

  302. ethangunner Says:

    fran

stop being so fragile ! im not going to re neg what i said ..
    or debate it further !

now on too football , his game will mean FA from a footballing stand point
tonight but it will be interesting to see who wenger starts ..

but even then he is let off the hook by injuries …
i hope they save there bouncing back for Man U and not harness all there winning ways on a match that matters little … And then go into Man U’s match with the confidence restored and hence are complacent again !

  303. Geoff Says:

Mark by adding a ha to your name to get your avitar you were in moderation!

  304. benno Says:

im out guys, hopefully i’ll wake up to some good news in the morning, and more so a decent lineup picked by Wenger

  305. markcha Says:

no problem, you know who I am.

also your wordpress account needs to be in lower case and I had two letters in upper case.

Anyway I am on now, and will get a better picture when I have the time.

  306. Geoff Says:

I like your picture, it’s Theo Hamilton!

  307. ethangunner Says:

    pat

Denilson is still young and didn’t get much of a run with flamini stealing the show last year .
you have to consider that prior to just burning him at the stake .. He has potential .
but he is still unworthy of a starting 11 birth .. we just need more 1st team experience full stop .

others like song etc. got there time to play 1st team football .. be it at Charlton ,so i think criticism is fair from a performance standpoint , eboue too has never made wenger confident that any spot is his in all the chances he’s had , so he like song should be sold or be happy with a place on the bench ..

i think knowing what 1/2 of these players are paid weekly
would have a greater bearing on who we get rid of …
if we have to speculate that is …

  318. Mark C Says:

    thanks Pedro.

Rico, we could do we a Parlour now.

  319. rico01 Says:

  325. rookie Says:

people any comments on fabian delphe rumours????

  326. rookie Says:

thats a very good quality u possess ethan..

  327. Arsenal Tom Says:

rookie…. 6m on another kid he wont play for a few years!!

rather he added that to his 10m alonso bid and went and brought barry in jan

  328. rookie Says:

i think wenger would himself be cursing himself for not buying alonso after watching his current form..

  329. rico01 Says:

ethan – personally, i couldn’t give a suff if he was yellow, other than concerns that Homer was running a country :)

  330. rookie Says:

i dont think he ll pay 6 m for him then hat will be the use of a loan back option

  331. Arsenal Tom Says:

rookie… i agree alonso was top class last night… his 60-70 yr ball to robbie keane last night was magic

  332. A Says:

Alonso was fantastic, but we didn’t sign him because Liverpool changed their mind and didn’t want to sell him because they didn’t get Barry, very unfortunate for us.

Fabian delphe rumours are bollocks, he isn’t that good, certainly not good enough for Arsenal. He’s 19 which isn’t a baby, and good in league 1, but a long way away from the best in the league. Jay Simpson was the best player in League 1 last year, and doesn’t have the quality to ever make it at Arsenal, so Delphe certainly wouldn’t.

  333. Geoff Says:

Homer is president! wow that’s really worth celebrating and a huge pat on the back for toons, 43 presidents and one toon, I’m off to get pissed, thanks Rico!

  334. Arsenal Tom Says:

the thing with alonso is, if we want him u go in early get your bid accepted which shows the player your serious and that his current club dont want him… from then on he’s coming… because he can force the move… we cocked it up for ourselves.

even if they did say they wernt selling we should have gone for barry… either way we get one top class midfielder

  335. rico01 Says:

Geoff – you are naughty ;)

  336. rookie Says:

liverpool did nt change mind…it was us who did nt offer much how can we expect them to accept an offer of 10 million from rivals when they already had rejected a bid of 13.5m from juventus…it was all wenger’s fault he thought liverpool will sell him for whatever someone will bid on the deadline day…they did nt want to loose him on cheap but they did want to sell him..

  337. dennisdamenace Says:

G8 – Agreed, the barmaids that were there at the start of last season were HOTTTT!! Still, it still beats the crap outta being served by the munta’s in The Twelve Pins or the The Blackstock!!

  338. A Says:

Alonso is a top class midfielder, Liverpool said they’d sell him once they got Barry, the Barry deal fell through so they said no they aren’t selling. Alonso isn’t enough of a nobber to force them to sell, and they wouldn’t have sold to us anyways. To talk of getting Barry is embarrassing, he’s nowhere near good enough for us, and certainly not a top class midfielder, what would he actually add to the squad?!

  339. rookie Says:

i don’t know why wenger does nt spend or look for bargains.. money does nt go out of his own pocket..or does it?? :p

  340. Geoff Says:

‘A’ when we tried to buy Kerry Dixon from the chavs, Bates said he would never sell a player to Arsenal, I last went to the Directors box against the Chavs when we won 3-2 and Bronkhurst scored and Bates wasn’t there, I was told something to do with Dein and a bird and he hated Arsenal, going to Leeds won’t change that.

Anyway if Wenger wanted him, he should have signed him before the kid signed a 4 year deal in the summer, he’d have got him for nothing, this is where I think Wenger takes the credit for his scouts, I don’t think he knew who Ramsey was till the cup final, if he did, he should have got him earlier for fuck all.

  341. Franchise Says:

Ethan u r a bloody hypocrite. If u looked beneath anyones skin then u would not have made a lousy comment like you did. I would paste for anyone who hasn’t read it and if u think there’s nothing wrong then ypu are fucked up

Ethans comments at 10:52am on Obama’s victory

“just off topic every black nation in the world is going nuts that America has there 1st black president ! is this anti – white racism ?? i mean , if we danced around in klu klux clan masks when bush – howard or blair was in office we would be construed as nazi’s wouldn’t we ?”

  342. Chipo Says:

ive forgotten how to do an avatar- someone help por favor!
ive just made a wordpress account, now how do i link it with this one?

  343. Geoff Says:

Franchise, you had a Klu klux clan outfit? no way you old sod!

  344. Chipo Says:

nice to see wenger’s Vela comments- hopefully it means he’ll be getting some minutes while Ade is out.

Remember this time last season when Van persie got injured, and Eduardo stepped in and started scoring goals for fun. Hopefully carlitos will do the same

  345. Arsenal Tom Says:

chipo… they are all done automatically, once you’ve uploaded the avatar it takes a few hours to show i think

  346. rookie Says:

liverpool never said they will sell alonso if they sign barry…actually they never said they want to sell alonso..but they did nt have money to buy barry he could only buy barry by selling alonso..by the way it was gerrard who was using his dressing room influence to force a transfer for barry.. remember when they played for england and that midfield pairing actually worked for england…

  347. Geoff Says:

Get your facts right Franchise, Obama won fuck all, Homer Simpson did, ask Rico.

  348. Arsenal Tom Says:

    A…

barry would give us someone who can tackle, some leadership, experience, aggression and a good understanding of the prem, if he keeps carrick and hargreaves out the england team he cant be that bad can he??

  349. Geoff Says:

Don’t have a cow, we dropped the racism thing hours ago. Dohhhh!

  356. Franchise Says:

Geoff I let it die for ages only for ethan to come back and resurrect it at 11.43am. I chose to ignore it but again he comes back at 1:49pm with more bollox. I just felt I had to address it.

  359. rookie Says:

by the way did anyone read that chelsea boss “Spolari” wanted to book the same hotel in rome for the final…what a joke he is…i m very happy they lost this is the second time he’s got a blow to his face… first going season unbeaten and the next day getting beaten at home by pools n now in rome…interesting fact is that arsene said we can go whole season unbeaten in 2003 and newspapers scolded him for that and in the end we actually did that….that tells that arsene is a better manager than “spolari”…lols

  360. Geoff Says:

Franchise it doesn’t matter mate, everyone is right, or everyone thinks they’re right but if we don’t leave it it keeps coming back and that stifles debate.

Rico I was told that Marge resigned, something to do with Bill Clinton and a Cohiba Robusto!

  361. Arsenal Tom Says:

  363. Arsenal Tom Says:

  367. goonerchip Says:

I’m going to re-write the post that I wrote a couple of days ago that got deleted. I’ll remember to copy and paste it this time.

I am about to do something that I never thought I would do, and it is a good indicator of the frustration levels surrounding arsenal at the moment that I am even making this connection. I would like to compare Steve McClaren to Arsene Wenger.

England had a great team on paper, but flopped and failed to even qualify for Euro 2008. Why? Because McClaren didnt have the balls (or possibly didnt know how) to pick his best midfield.

The presence of two attack minded midfielders in centre midfield was the downfall to the England team, just as it is with Arsenal. Lampard and Gerrard are both great players, but they cannot play together in a 4-4-2 because they cancel each other out. They spend too much of their time worried about fulfilling their defensive duties and covering for the other player going forward that they end up losing their spontaneity and natural drive to do what they do best- get in the box and score goals. At their respective clubs they have an anchorman playing alongside them (mascherano & makelele/mikel, who mops up and does the simple things – the invisible wall – allowing them to get forward and get the glory.

Because they were both fantastic players, Stevie mac was loathe to drop either of them, and it ended up costing England a place in the finals. McClaren was sacked, and now in Cappello there is a man strong enough to play one or the other (or at least switch to a 4-5-1 allowing them both to get forward at the same time.

Everything that concerns England now concerns Arsenal. We are suffering at the back, and going forward, because Mr Wenger is too stubborn, reluctant, stupid or otherwise to drop one of his attack minded midfielders and replace him with a natural born DM (no, not Song). This move has been further highlighted with his selection of 2 lightweight wingers in Nasri and Theo. Their job is not, and should not involve covering for forward outings of Denilson and Fabregas.

    Who is England’s talisman? Gerrard.
    Who is Arsenal’s talisman? Cesc.

How is Cesc playing alongside Denilson? Shit.
How did Gerrard play alongside Lampard? Shit.

How is Gerrard playing alongside Barry? Excellent.
How did Fabregas play alongside Flamini/Vieira? Excellent.

All the problems in our team revolve around this one key position. We need our talisman back, and the only way its going to happen is if we get someone in who can do a job as an anchor.

And if Wenger doesn’t do anything, it’ll be him standing under the umbrella looking fucking miserable, and it may well be him whose job is on the line in the summer.

  368. rookie Says:

spot on arsenal tom lets pray for that lols…but i doubt that because he has said he really respects Arsene

  369. goonerchip Says:

p.s. it has changed me from Chipo to goonerchip!!!

  370. Franchise Says:

Your awareness on Racism is very poor Ethan. Its still very existent, no one wants it that is why in the future u should not post comments on a public blog making analogies with the ku klux klan. It is 100% wrong and if u think its right then phhhh! What else can I say? Do u know the harm the KKK inflicted on innocent individuals? That is my point. Race is still an issue in a lot of things in life whethjer u choose to believe it or not. It is a sensitive issue thats why u dont make comments like that.

  371. Franchise Says:

This is a public site and I can choose to respond to anything I want to there are no restrictions. Accept u r wrong and kill this debate

  372. Pedro Says:

Guys… leave the racism thing along… it is terribly boring and it’s not really worth mentioning since we all support the most multicultural club in the world.

  373. ethangunner Says:

the wenger will bring out the bollocking stick again and fire them up for the Man U game ..

so apparently i’m now ‘goonerchip’ not Chipo?? i liked Chipo!

  375. Chipo Says:

    oh there we go- sorted

  376. choy Says:

Pulis hits back at Wenger criticism

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has responded to claims from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that the Potters “deliberately injured” his players during Saturday’s Premier League clash by ridiculing the Frenchman for hypocrisy and trying to fool the public.

Wenger: Critical of stoke’s physical approach

Wenger claimed that Stoke set out to intentionally hurt his players during the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat at the Britannia Stadium after Emmanuel Adebayor (ankle), Theo Walcott (shoulder) and right-back Bacary Sagna (ankle) were all injured.

Wenger said: “The only intention is to hurt you and I can show some tackles where I can prove what I say.

“Do you think (Rory) Delap tried to play the ball when he tackled Walcott? Or that [Ryan] Shawcross tried to play the ball when he tackled Adebayor off the pitch. All the players have been injured deliberately.”

But Pulis has hit back in a statement on the club’s website that pokes fun at his opposite number and accuses Wenger making a dramatic u-turn on comments made immediately after the match.

“In Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday evening Mr Wenger talked openly about Arsenal’s encounter with Stoke,” Pulis said. “He commended my team’s organisation, my team’s commitment and confessed that on the day Stoke City thoroughly deserved to win the game,”

“In London 48 hours later and 150 miles away from Stoke-on-Trent, Mr Wenger changed tack and has tried to rewrite history.

“His comments about my team are there for everybody to read and certainly made me smile, along with I’m sure 27,000 supporters at the game, millions of TV viewers and the massed press who interviewed him after the game.”

Pulis goes on to point out that the only red card issued in the match was to Arsenal’s Robin van Persie after a barge on goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen and that Adebayor was booked for a chest-high challenge on Ryan Shawcross.

  377. rico01 Says:

This Race thing – is it the 100 Metres, or 200 Metres we are talking about…. ;)

I hope its not The Marathon

  378. Franchise Says:

Pedro Im sorry to go on and on about it. I have always tried to promote healtyh blogging keeping away the controversy on this site. Ethans comment just needed to be addressed. There are several ppl that visit this site w/o pasting comments. It wld be unwise if we start posting comments that wld only stir up hate and controversy. Race is just race a lot of ppl dont see it that way unfortunately because of things that have happened and still happen in some circles. Its a very sensitive topic that is why I was trying to correct Ethan not to post comments like he did.

  379. Franchise Says:

Thats it for me on the race thing the only race i’m interested in is the Premier League race

  380. Chipo Says:

Did anyone read my comment? We could get back onto football and discuss that instead of all this race malarkey

  381. Paulinho Says:

Continuing the political theme, I think it’s only a matter of time before Wenger comes out with “ask not what your club can do for you, but what you can do for your club”, just to deflect more attention away from his poor decisions.

  382. Chipo Says:

    Here it is again…

  383. rico01 Says:

Catch you later guys, 3-0 tonight :)

  384. kelsey Says:

Pedro/Geoff we have an important CL match tonight and I for one will not be drawn into racism or the dealings of the KKK which is also anti semetic, hardly “boring”

Let me know when it’s allover.

  385. Franchise Says:

    Its over Kelsey

  386. Pedro Says:

Kelsey, don’t try and draw Jewish people into the debate as well… the KKK being anti semetic carries no more weight than them being racist.

It is boring as only 3 people have any interest in talking about it.

Franchise, racism isn’t an issue here. I don’t know what colour you are… and I don’t care.

You are Gooner and that is all that matters to me, so lets leave it that. The next comment on race gets binned.

  387. Pedro Says:

    Onto Football…

    I read Fabianski is starting?

  388. Odub Says:

    Helloooooo Grovers!!

    WTF’s going on you mudafugas!

Eh have I come to the wrong site?! what’s all this race stuff about?!

Anyway, we’ll win comfortably tonight, I’m more worried about saturday.

  389. Mark C Says:

pedro where did you read that?

  390. Franchise Says:

I know it isnt and I want it to stay that way. I was a bit shocked that Geoff didnt moderate Ethans comments he actually agreed with it that was worrying for me. Ive tried to step in several times when I’ve read comments from ppl that sound inappropriate. Sometimes we say thing wrongly cos we cant express ourselves correctly in the heat of the moment. I actually said to Ethan that I didnt think he was racist but that his comments were a bit overboard period.

  391. rookie Says:

pedro where did you read that….by the sound of it..it looks like arsene visited Le Grove..lols

  392. Odub Says:

Ok. 2 points on the race issue.

    1. This is not the the right forum for it to be discussed.
    2. Every person is entitled to their own view, but whichever view that maybe, there’ll always be someone who doesnt agree with it.

    My solution…..Let’s move on!!!

  393. Arsenal Tom Says:

ethan… i think he lost that stick along time ago unfortunately mate, this team is all about ‘respect and intelligence’ rather than a good old mixture of pride and wanting to win

  394. Arsenal Tom Says:

wise words odub. i agree on the foota front… tonight we’ll be ok, plus im going so they’ll have to win or ill show wenger how to really kick a door down!!

i hope theo’s back for sat and plays unfront

  395. ethangunner Says:

    fran

As you just cannot put it down ill educate you … the KKK stood for white supremecy !
nothing more … it was individual factions who started carrying out hideous crimes ..

    here

The first Klan was founded in 1865 by veterans of the Confederate Army. Its purpose was to restore white supremacy in the aftermath of the American Civil War. The Klan resisted Reconstruction by intimidating “carpetbaggers”, “scalawags”,African Americans, Jews, Roman Catholics and labor unions and freedmen.
    NOT BLACKS in general ..

education over .. lets move on !

  396. Pedro Says:

    Odub, well said!

Everyone who asked where I read it… ANR.

Like getting your info from the village HoBo…

  397. Odub Says:

    Chipo,

    Like the post mate,
I would however go one further and say AW’s stubborness in playing 2 very similar CB’s is also costing us.. Kolo and Gallas are the same kind of CB. Why not drop one and play JD instaed (logical if you ask me!)

  398. Chipo Says:

i’d be surprised if Fabianski started- Wenger’s been talking about the need to qualify tonight, so unless al is injured i cant see that happening..

sure you arent thinking about Ben Foster Pedro ;-) ?

  399. Odub Says:

    ATom,

    Cheers mate!
I turned down a freebie for tonight, only because I dont get home until midnight from CL games, if not I would have gladly been down the S&B with the Le Grove massive.

A lot of my mates are giving it a miss as well, so I think the atmosphere might be a bit of a strange one tonight.

Still expect a stonking win though. I’d even play the CC team. Vela and Nikki big bollox up front and all that, and rest all the big boys for saturday.

  400. Arsenal Tom Says:

fabianski wont start…. lets remember who our manager is… mr ‘i think denilson was outstanding today’

im expecting a real boring line up….

    al
    sagna, toure, silvestre, clichy
    nasri,fab,denilson,diaby
    RVP, nik

  401. Chipo Says:

Completely agree Odub- did you read perry groves in the guardian today? He was talking about Type 1 and Type 2 centre backs making the best combination. You need a Type 1 to win every header and do the dirty work (Vidic, Terry), and you need a type 2 to drop off them and mop up (Carvalho, Ferdinand)

If Perry fuckin Groves knows this then how the fuck does Wenger not realise this!! It’s why Djourou would help so much.

  402. Arsenal Tom Says:

turning down freebies??? thats a nice option to have!!

midweek games are about all i seem to be able to get, that or the occasional 5.15 k.o

  403. Chipo Says:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/nov/05/arsenal-premierleague

  404. Odub Says:

    Tonight

    I’d go with

    Fabianski
    Sagna JD Kolo Gibbs
    Wilshere Diaby Ramsey Nasri
    NB Vela

  405. Chipo Says:

    My ideal team tonight-

    Almunia

    Sagna JD Toure Clichy

    Nasri Cesc Song Wilshere

    Diaby

    Nikki

What Wenger will actually go with:

    ——–Almunia——–

    Sagna Toure Silvestre Clichy

    Nasri Song Fabregas Denilson

    ———Diaby———–
    ———NikkiB——–

  406. Arsenal Tom Says:

odub… i reckon we might see that for the CL after tonight… once qualification is safe he’ll bring the kids in but i cant see it happening before… he knows we cant afford another fuck up.

id like to see JD come in tho. maybe gibbs left wing and nasri right with cesc and diaby in the CM… that could be interesting

  407. Chipo Says:

    Agreed Tom…

I think he will rest Van Persie though. And maybe clichy.

Cant believe you turned down a free ticket Odub- call yourself a gooner! i’m going tonight cannot wait. im predicting another goalfest. 4-1 to the goon

  408. Odub Says:

    AT,
A mate with a season ticket’s not going tonight, and being as he’s a close mate, he wasnt going to charge me for the ticket.

Trust me, I wish I got more freebies mate!!!

  409. Pedro Says:

Franchise… he is not condoning the KKK… read his comments before you react.

I have one spare for Saturday (ManU)… best offer!

  410. Pedro Says:

Arsenal Tom… why don’t you purchase the 2 half price tickets for tonight and treat yourself?

  411. Odub Says:

    Chipo,

I’ve got home around midnight for the last 3 CL games I’ve attended. I’m doing a gym session at 6.30 am and then got a meeting 2 hours later so trust me, getting home at midnight wouldnt be a good idea!

The Perry Groves assessment is spot on really. The 2 we play are far too similar, compared to the others who supplement a no nonsense row Z type CB with a ball playing type with a bit more pace and skill to his game.

  412. Geoff Says:

You fucking racist cunts, I’m fed up and am now joining forces with my left foot, if you want me I’ll be over there and there new journo, they wanted someone to say what he felt and from 4pm I’m in the pub.

Incidentally for all of you that wanted a history lesson, the KKK was in fact started by a Jewish bloke and a catholic, ironic or what?

  413. Odub Says:

    Geoff,

You dont need to make up excuses to get down to the pub!

    Just go!!

    Enjoy!

  414. Franchise Says:

Would u say there nothing wrong with this comment Pedro?

just off topic every black nation in the world is going nuts that America has there 1st black president ! is this anti – white racism ?? i mean , if we danced around in klu klux clan masks when bush – howard or blair was in office we would be construed as nazi’s wouldn’t we ?

That is the comment he made that started all this all i told him was that he was wrong to compare KKK and black nation in the same analogy. If he chooses to insist theres nothing wrong with it and paste wikipedia entries on KKK to educate me then he is just a lousy person

  415. Franchise Says:

And Geoff there’s no reason for ranting. This is your blog and you yourself were wrong to agree with Ethans initial comment knowing that u have several ppl on here who are from differnt parts of the world. I myself I’m half white half black. I come on here cos I’m a gooner and I get thru most days on here having fun with other bloggers like myself. It was ur duty Geoff to have addressed Ethans point there and then period

  416. Mark C Says:

    someone said rest Clichy?

    Who can replace him?

The only person I could see do that is Gallas.

  417. Arsenal Tom Says:

pedro. i already got a ticket for tonight cheers mate but i do check the exchange pretty often.

chipo… RVP’s got 3 games off after tonight mate… he should be running his bollocks off tonight!!!

  418. Mandanda Says:

    3-1 to the Arse!

  419. Odub Says:

    Mark C,

How about Silvy at LB or even young Gibbs?

  420. Pedro Says:

Oh… jeez… I am doing a bad job selling these fener tickets!

    Odub, are you going?

  421. Pedro Says:

I don’t even understand why we need to rest Gael… what was the summer for?

  422. Odub Says:

    Pedro

Not going mate. next home game for me will probably be the Villa game.

  423. Arsenal Tom Says:

i’d like to see gibbs on the wing… he’s played there plenty and would mean we dont have someone like diaby wasting his time on the wing

  424. Pedro Says:

That should be good… It will be nice to watch a decent winger who is a gooner… Ashley Young!

He just signed a new contract… we should have been tapping him up. He bagged 17 assists last year… what a champ!

  425. choy Says:

why would we want to rest rvp.. he can’t play in the PL anyway.. he has to start!

  426. Arsenal Tom Says:

pedro… i said that during the summer!! go to villa give em 30mil and take barry and young… problem solved

  427. rico01 Says:

Hello again, I’m back and I see somethings just wont go away, Bloody Hell Guys, we have a CL match tonight, chnace to be the first English team to qualify, and some want to talk about Race and the KKK – Come on, FOOTIE……

Otherwise, I am gooner get the gals on and start talking about Lipstick and stuff….. :)

  428. Mark C Says:

    Yup Gibbs for the Wing.

In one of the pre season friendlies he got roasted playing LB.

Clichy and Fabregas will get a rest when the Carling Cup is on.

  429. Odub Says:

    Pedro,

Can you (or anyone else for that matter), please explain to me why we didnt make a bid for the lad? 8 mill he cost from watford is peanuts! We would have had him and Theo down either wing!!

    Sweet!

  430. rookie Says:

Adams told the Portsmouth News: “I want my staff sorted sooner rather than later, really by the weekend.

“I’m meeting with a few people and having conversations with a couple of old friends.

“I’ve had a positive meeting with Martin (Keown). Then there’s Dennis (Bergkamp), who is taking the youth team at Ajax and is a good, good man.

“I’ve not spoken to him, but there are a few people I still need to talk to.

“It’s an important part. I’ve got some good people still at the club, which is great, but I need my people in and the sooner I can do that the better.

“Mind you, you don’t have to be an old Arsenal player.”

  431. rico01 Says:

Cant see him resting Boy Wonder as he is banned for the next three PL games, does anyone know if the CC game can count as one of his bans ?

  432. Arsenal Tom Says:

rico… im with you on this… i dont give a shit what anyones views on racism (or lip stick before you start missy!!!) are… we’re here to talk football!!

  433. choy Says:

people any news about rosicky? I think it is time for a replacement….

  434. Arsenal Tom Says:

rico… i think so… i think the ban covers all domestic comps

  435. rico01 Says:

Hi choy – AW said after Christmas for Thomas – just dont know which Christmas ;)

  436. Mark C Says:

AT re Villa, they also have Laursen who is the no nonense CB we are crying out for.

So make that 40 mill for Barry, Laursen and Young.

  437. Odub Says:

    Rico!!!!

    Stop it!

  438. avenell Says:

If we buy a winger we need someone who can head a ball into the net, Ade is F**ing useless for someone 6′4″ tall. He always jumps too soon and heads the ball as he’s coming down.

How many times as the comentator said he hung in the air well, meaning he jumpe too soon.

Ashley Young went to school with Lewis hamilton and I’m pretty sure he was a arsenal supporter too.

  439. Arsenal Tom Says:

mark…and he’s a goal machine from corners… agbonlahors not bad either… 50m and get the whole lot?? sell ade & gallas and we’ve spent 20m on them!

  440. rico01 Says:

Tom – Did you read the earlier about Homer :) ?

So he will be back for the Chav game then ? I really hope we see Vela start tonight, Fene defence were poor last game, he would have a field day

  441. Pedro Says:

    Odub… I have no idea!

300 scouts and no one looked over the fence…

I pinched that quote from somewhere else!

  442. Pedro Says:

Avenell, he has scored more headed goals already… that Thierry got in his whole Arsenal career.

  443. rico01 Says:

Odub – where you been all day, lazy tinker -

    Stop what

  444. rico01 Says:

Thats the trouble with Scouts Pedro, they are short ;)

  445. Pedro Says:

    haha! Nice one Rico

  446. Odub Says:

    Rico, busy at work

Meant stop it re the joke about Rosicknote! Funny!

  447. avenell Says:

Pedro .. We never had wingers when Henry was at arsenal Pires and Ljungberg cut inside.

We haven’t had a proper winger since Brian Marwood..

  448. Odub Says:

    Rico’s on a roll today!

  449. Odub Says:

    Hat Trick!!

    Ha ha!

  450. Stu Says:

Just watching the highlights of the away game against Fenerbache and i knew he was shit but Song is making a disgrace of himself and the rest of the defence. All of Guiza’s chances came from Song playing him onside.

Otherwise, whats the current topic so can join in?! lol

  451. rico01 Says:

  452. rico01 Says:

  460. Stu Says:

    Song huh……. Hes shit!

Speaking of shit, Roberto Carlos is shit. Wilshere must start against him tonight and sent him into retirement. What better way to leave the game than being made shit of by a 16year old wizzkid.

  461. rico01 Says:

Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, a smart blonde, and a dumb blonde are walking down the street when they spot a $100 on the ground. Who gets it?

    Nobody.

The first four don’t exist and the dumb blonde thought it was a gum wrapper.

  465. rico01 Says:

A police officer in a small town stopped a motorist who was speeding down Main Street. “But officer,” the man began, “I can explain.”

“Quiet!” snapped the officer. “I’m going to let you spend the night in jail until the chief gets back.”

“But, officer, I just wanted to say,”

“And I said be quiet! You’re going to jail!”

A few hours later the officer looked in on his prisoner and said, “Lucky for you, the chief’s at his daughter’s wedding. He’ll be in a good mood when he gets back.”

“Don’t count on it,” answered the guy in the cell. “I’m the groom.”

    She yells, “Whose Jimmy Poole?”

This kid in the back stands up and says, “I’m Jimmy Poole.”

“Well, Jimmy, your staying after school!”

The very next day when the substitute teacher walks in, she looks up at the blackboard and written on it, it says, “PAYS to ADVERTISE

  470. rico01 Says:

  477. Big Raddy Says:

    Evening All,

Pleased I wasn’t involved in todays shenanigans.

Have we any team news yet?

  478. Stu Says:

Just heard that TA wants Keown as his defensive coach but said he faces competition from Arsenal. Please say we will get him. He will make sure we dont concede.

  479. Arsenal Tom Says:

stu… and is thinking about getting dennis as another coach!!

keown would sort us out and what a mentor for the likes of djourou, hoyte and norveidt… id have posters of him screaming and nistle everywhere

  480. Big Raddy Says:

Stu, I think that the club need not only Keown, but the man who taught him all he knows about defending… George Graham.

Sadly, George is Persona Non Gratys at The Emirates, and I guess egoes would stop both AW and GG considering it. But GG is a Defence Master, and that is what we need.

  481. Arsenal Tom Says:

raddy.. the only thing i know is eboue, gallas, theo, ade (3weeks) and the usualls are out but sagna should be back

gallas and theo might be back for the mancs tho

  482. Stu Says:

GG was a defensive mastermind but all great minds wilter eventually. It happened to GG and unfortunately it seems like its happening to AW too. A time must come when they run out of ideas.

Keown helped Senderos play the best football of his career so why did he even leace us. Wenger just hates defenders.

But having said that, wouldnt it be great having AW and GG combine. Perfect football and a watertight defence.

Similarly a team of TA, DB10 and Keown wold be interesting. If they could succeed at Pompey then why not step up for Arsenal.

  483. Big Raddy Says:

    Thanks AT.

Are we going to win tonight?

You better believe it….. 3-1. Nik, Nasri and Cesc

  484. Arsenal Tom Says:

yeah i fancy us tonight… we are far better equiped for euro footy than the prem 3-1 sounds about right to!!!

i think wenger thought keown had sorted senderos and he wouldnt need him any more and just keep doing it every week but he obviously slowly slipped back to his old self

  485. Arsenal Tom Says:

thinking about it know, if keown hadnt have gone then neither would have senderos in all likelihood!

  486. Arsenal Tom Says:

damn i must have B.O or somthing!!! fuck it im off for a few sherbets then to watch the boys!

    adios

  487. Big Raddy Says:

I am in the minority, but I believe Swiss Phil still has a future at THOF. If he gets some games at AC, and some experience away from the critical eye of the British press (and to a lesser extent the fans). He can be the player we all saw at the start of his career.

After all, my understanding is that he is still an Arsenal player.

  488. Pedro Says:

I was going to mention it A.T…

    haha!

    Have a good one!

    I’ll be back later!

  489. Big Raddy Says:

  497. avenell Says:

  498. kelsey Says:

no eboue or walcott tonight. i think one or the other has played in every game.Team selection will be interesting. he might stick with all those available that played at stoke for them to prove to him(and us) that are better than on that performance.that leaves eboue, walcott and adebayor to be replaced.

  499. choy Says:

I always confuse with UK time.

  508. Big Raddy Says:

O Rico, I just realised the significance of the day !!

Sometimes I get really homesick, and GFN is one of those times.

  509. Big Raddy Says:

  528. avenell Says:

Your first Paulinho,, Just that your team is different. ;)

  529. Big Raddy Says:

I love KL. Was there for a couple of weeks last year.

That is one exciting team. Just what we asked for, except for Vela (or is he playing – you have posted different teams)

  530. Paulinho Says:

Avenell, that was my subconscious speaking there. Wanted Vela in the side ;)

That means I’m disqualified. You win!

  531. rico01 Says:

GFN Raddy, am i being thick as you lost me on that one –

  533. kelsey Says:

  534. kenny smith Says:

ramsey right wing? interesting. hope he plays well

  535. vandejie Says:

So with the line up, what it would be for tonite?

  540. kelsey Says:

ramsey to score any takers ?

  541. kenny smith Says:

from the line up on ATVO it looks like JD is right back, cesc is right wing

  542. Pedro Says:

Oh… I just saw there was no Cesc…

  543. Paulinho Says:

We all know this means we’re going 4-5-1 versus United.

  544. rico01 Says:

JD- RB, that is a really good move imho – he is good there

  545. kelsey Says:

    cesc is playing pedro

  546. avenell Says:

Toure will be right back, won’t he? Like last season..

  547. kelsey Says:

who is the reserve keeper pat rice?

  548. choy Says:

ramsey in the middle i would like to think… denilson on the right

  549. vandejie Says:

Nice one kelsey…pat rice for the sub keeper.

    Good idea.

  550. rico01 Says:

GFN – Gunners Football Night ?

    link for the match

    http://www.justin.tv/babavanga

  562. avenell Says:

I’d have liked to have seen Nasri switched to the right and Vela given a game on the left.

I don’t think we are going to create much down the right with Ramsey or Denilson in front of Toure.

  563. rookie Says:

many empty seats at the emirates…alarming?????

  564. hkb246 Says:

Here’s the Arsenal team: Fabianski, Toure, Djourou, Silvestre, Clichy, Ramsey, Fabregas, Denilson, Nasri, Bendtner and Van Persie. Subs from: Mannone, Diaby, Sagna, Vela, Song Billong, Wilshere and Gibbs.

  574. rookie Says:

fuck mancs n turks just enjoy the game at that channel gooners…cheers

  575. Stu Says:

What does Vela have to do to get a game? RvP made a fool of himself by acting like a brat because he didnt start yet Wenger persists with him. Bullshit! There is always an excuse why Vela doesnt play- he is tired is a stupid excuse. RvP is suspended so Wenger should be trying Nik and Vela to see if it will work(which we know it will).

At least JD and Fabianski are starting. This game seems like a formality so if we have a HT lead Cesc should be taken off for Wilshere and Ramsey get a chance in midfield.

  576. rico01 Says:

Ah, sorry Big R – I thought you were talking footie, Guy Fawkes Night – What a Numpty, Dimwit I am –

  577. rookie Says:

  578. Pedro Says:

  581. Rob From Aus Says:

whats a good reliable wbsite to watch a live feed of the game?

  582. kenny smith Says:

according to ATVO ramsey is starting in the middle with cesc and silvestre is RB!!!

  583. ethangunner Says:

Franchise no hard feelings either ..

told ya it would be RVP – bends ! good old mr predictable ..
and instead of denilson on a wing swap narsi over to right and make vela left !
ramsey with cesc is another good potential match up !
he did it all last season in that position .. im sure its a better option than denilson who didnt play football last year at all !

but over all a better team selection .. i will be interested to see the forward pairing ..

  584. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

So finally its Yo Yo time. Come on big fella :D

  585. Big Raddy Says:

Knowing AW. Cesc will be RB !

  586. Big Raddy Says:

Come on you rip roaring Gunners

  587. Stu Says:

Thank God Cesc got a haircut. Now he will be back to his best.

  588. Stu Says:

It is a real shame that we haven’t been able to see more of Ramsey. So far he has shown a god touch and a hard tackle. He really is an all action midfielder. A bitlike Gerrard if you will. He has an eye for a pass, can control a game and is not afraid of launching into a tackle.

Interesting to know that Ramsey was also touted by a pro Rugby club when he was about 15 so he shouldnt shirk away from anything. At least thats one player that will get stuck in.

  589. Big Raddy Says:

What a ball from Cesc. RvP …. another waste

  590. choy Says:

    who’s at RB and RW?

  608. Stu Says:

Jd as had nothing to do yet really except cut out a good cross and Ramsey is doing great considering. IMO a real wideman could have done a better job against RC because Rambo wont really take him on.

WHAT RVP IS A TWAT> GET VELA ON!!!!!!!!!

Hard as Johan, hit ‘em hard boy :D

  623. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    21501 evo

  624. Rob From Aus Says:

wenger will ruin all he good work he has done by bringing on Song!

  625. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    kiev in front of Porto

  626. Stu Says:

Well Celtic are playing against te team that we play on Saturday so the United performance is kind of rellevant so….

This game is more proof that Bendtner plays best with a short South american. Dont know why but thats just the way it is.

  627. Rob From Aus Says:

OMG Denilson fuck off u useless cunt

  628. Evo in Oz Says:

thanx gnarely – by the way dont dis the old bhoys, rangers are the ones you want to dis

  629. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

evo I’m a Gers man must be the WASP in me :)

  630. Pedro Says:

Corner after corner fail to make it over the front post…

  631. Stu Says:

So far we have learned that Ramsey is more than ready, Fabianski comes for balls that Almunia wouldn’t dream of doing so for and Denilson still cant shoot.

AND NEITHER CAN VAN PERSIE> WANKER!!!!!

  632. Evo in Oz Says:

    no worries mate

TVU is easily the best streamer, the footage is always crisp for me!

  633. Rob From Aus Says:

    how did RVP miss that??!!!!

  634. Pedro Says:

I liked seeing Fab come out for that free kick… the master of his own box!

  635. Metal Gear Says:

VP how the fuck do you miss that?

  636. Pedro Says:

Come on… give the guy some slack! He’s been unlucky!

  637. Rohan Says:

naah i feel van persie is working hard to atone for his mistake over the weekend.
    nasri has been disappointing

  638. Pedro Says:

The atmosphere sounds good doesn’t it?

  639. Stu Says:

Fabianski is defo the most talented keeper at the club. He is certainly one for the future. Or even the present given Almunias form of late.

  640. Pedro Says:

This turkish commentator is doing my head in…

  641. Big Raddy Says:

No Ade …. How many offsides so far…….. None

  642. Evo in Oz Says:

    can i hear booing?

  643. Evo in Oz Says:

    what turkish commenatator?

  644. Stu Says:

Great near post block there by either JD or Fabianski. If they weren’t playing there would almost certainly have been a mix up.

  645. Pedro Says:

    It’s the turkish fans…

I have a turkish commentator in my house… he wont shut up…

    Nice claim by Fab…

  646. Rob From Aus Says:

Ramsey is fucking quality!, can he play DM?

  647. vandejie Says:

Ramsey is looking good…Hope Arsene play him this weekend.

  648. vandejie Says:

    Djourou looks good too.

  649. Nightman Says:

    My god RAMSEY IS QUALITY

He should teach BENDTNER a thing about keeping possesion and getting into good positions…

  650. Evo in Oz Says:

Ramsey’s passes out to Nasri when they are heading to the box are even better than Cesc’s

  651. Rob From Aus Says:

Fucking Guiza! goes down quicker than a thai hooker

  652. Stu Says:

Wenger didnt pick as bad a midfield as against Stoke but all 4 are very narrow again. Ramsey is generally a CM so its hard to blame him but Nasri is playing bad but keeps roaming inside giving us no width once again. At least is wilshere was on he would try some new things and he knows how to play wing anyways.

Frustrating half to say the least.

  653. Pedro Says:

I know it sounds silly, but you can tell Ramsey was raised on British football… it’s that urgency you don’t really get with continental players…

  654. Rob From Aus Says:

vela has to come on 4 Bendtner

  655. Nightman Says:

To be honest this is how i rate BENDTNER

    25% of time….brilliant

    25% of the time average

    50% o the time PISS POOR…

GET YOUR HEAD ON STRAIGHT BENDNTER

  656. Evo in Oz Says:

Bendtner is one of my fav’s but he is the one lacking in the chain tonight so far

  657. Big Raddy Says:

There is some Scottish Knob commentating. He is a cmplete dick, and is obviously a Manc. Anyone would think that Fener were on top !!

Why can’t we have an Arsenal ex-player commentating ?

    This guy is Gash

  658. choy Says:

pedro.. that urgency will disappear playing with the likes of song!

  659. Evo in Oz Says:

RVP squandered a shit load of chances as per usual

  660. Pedro Says:

Nightman, remember he is only a year older than Theo… and he hasn’t had a proper run at the first team yet.

  661. Stu Says:

    Where you watching it Raddy?

  662. Evo in Oz Says:

is that the Setanta stream big rad, if so i agreee!

  663. Pedro Says:

Evo, hitting the bar and having a shot deflected over the bar is hardly squandering!

He has worked hard and he’s been come close… lets not criticise him too much. We’ve not seen Ade misses out there…

  664. Keyser Says:

I think Bendtner improves as the game goes on and hopefully likewise with the amount of games he gets.

  665. Nightman Says:

Pedro….very true. But Ramsey is 17 and already knows SO MUCH MORE about keeping possesion and not destroying the rhythm of the team’s attack

He shows potential, but all of his problems are mental, and they look pretty deep set

I hope for his sake and Arsenal’s he snaps out of it

  666. Pedro Says:

    Totally agree Keyser…

The only think Bendtner is guilty of is being a bit too concerned about supplying others… he drops a bit too deep sometimes…

    I like that though… Bergkamp was giving…

  667. charybdis1966 Says:

Oh dear, half time and goalless.

I could have been at the Grove tonight except for a dam work deadline.

Come on Wenger, bring on Carlos !

  668. Evo in Oz Says:

pedro i would have preferred they were slotted. the radar is still not back on yet mate. until then its squandering. the one onto the bar was tipped on their by the keeper….

  669. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

I’ve got a pommy commentator with Lou macari TVU channel 21501 Get on it its great.

What about JD20. He hasn’t put a foot/head wrong, & is definitely sickening Guiza.

  670. Rob From Aus Says:

Pedro, one ositive is that he doesnt ALWAYS end up offside! our offside count wen ADE plays is 74-3

  671. Big Raddy Says:

    First Half…

Nik – well off the pace. He HAS to improve on that half
RvP …. missed a couple of sitters (by his standards. We need more
    Denilson – OK
Cesc … plaing very well, Leading the team again
Ramsey – Quality. Now take on Carlos, his legs have gone.
Nasri – like to see him take on the RB more often, and always looks for
Clichy – on fire as usual.
JD – excellent half. Keep it up
    Kolo – OK
    Fishhead – OK.
Fabianski – looks solid with what he has had to cope with.

I think that we need to get behind the FB’s to give RvP and Nik some space to run into. This Fener look easily beatable.

  672. patthegooner Says:

thought that was quite a good half, but as ever should be a couple of goals up, but there were some good blocks and saves in there.

I think Ramsey looks excellent, especially as he is playing out of position. He has shown me more potential and class in 45 mins than Song has in 3 years.

Djourou too has been good, and has dealt with everything aerially. If only he played on Saturday hey!!!!

I am disspointed in Bendtner though, he has been a bit wasteful and looks a little dissinterested. He should see this as an opportunity to cement a place, especially with Ade out. I would bring Vela on.

  673. Stu Says:

    Nightman,
Ramsey is better at keeping possession because thats his job as a midfielder. Strikers aren’t generally played to keep possession and keep the flow going. They are there to put it in the net and given his age its a little early to blame his wastefullness.

  674. Pedro Says:

Nightman, I don’t think you can make a judgement like that about Ramsey until you see him over 10 games.

Nik just needs a run… he’s not short of self belief, just games.

  675. Nightman Says:

But then again, players like Ramsey (of the same cloth as quality such as Fabregas and Clichy, i.e. golden quality) dont come along very often

So it may not be fair to compare Nikki to Ramsey…

But he does have so many gifts…he just is a head case at the moment

  676. ethangunner Says:

That is a far better team ! ramsey looks more than ready !
fab 2 looks great in goal ! johan is strong ! (GG9 so far so good with your boy out there )

if he replaced denilson for jack and vela for bends , you would have a great team out there ..
but so far they are playing well enough .. but nik B like ade is fucking up too much in the final 3rd ..

wenger do something uncharacteristic take nik b off now ! – vela ON…
dont take RVP off ! – and thankfully as he is suspended for regular duty this is one game i can see RVP finishing for a change .

  677. xeeez Says:

although playing on the right..Ramsey is showing his intelligence..something which Song lacks woefully!

  678. kelsey Says:

they look like about half a dozen clones of each other, rvp is at least trying, nasri poor, bedntner is having a mare, first 30 minutes ramsey oozing class.have we know plan b,cesc is okay defence not been tested.are we allowed to shoot as there keeper looks very dodgy.

  679. Big Raddy Says:

    Yes it is Evo.

How can they keep giving work to such piss poor co-commentators. Give it to an Arsenal man for our games.

    It’s not rocket science.

  680. Pedro Says:

Evo… RvP is incapable of anything other than brute force!

  681. Rasputin Says:

Bendtner poor, Nasri disappointing, Djourou good, Ramsey good, Fabianski good. Kolo shouldn’t bother to come so far forward. Vela on for Bendtner if nothing happens after 60 mins.

  682. Stu Says:

Whole on the subject of Bendtner, has any1 else noticed that whenever Nik is either after scoring or making a goal, that no1 else celebrated with him?? It happened a few times last season and again against WHU for Ade’s assist. Bendtner made the goal but everyone ran the best part of 80yards to congratulate Ade while Nik was left alone on the half way line.

Surely is Ade has seemingly settled things with Nik then everyone else should have too. Can anyone here shine some light on the subject???????

  683. Pedro Says:

Nasri’s level has dropped for some reason…

The weather I suspect… or that rugby player found out where he lives…

  684. Nightman Says:

Pedro…I have seen enough of Ramsey, I know them when I see them. He is ONE OF THEM haha

Stu…You are right its not his job as much as it is a midfielder’s…but cmon, how can the attack build up if we know the striker cant hold it up. Berbatov is the perfect example. He KEEPS possesion and puts it in the net WHEN ITS time

Bendt forces and rushes too much

Dont get me wrong, I am not writing him off….I like him, but he needs improvement, as do many of our players.

  685. Evo in Oz Says:

2 things i hate, shite commenators and shite referees!

  686. kelsey Says:

alan smith doing the commentary on sky, doing a good job.bring on diaby and vela for denilson and nicci.

  687. Pedro Says:

Stu… you always run to the goal scorer!

  688. Rasputin Says:

IMO, RVP is a luxury player, but one of the few free kick takers we possess – his corners have been crap today though

  689. kelsey Says:

rasputin great minds think alike :)

  690. Big Raddy Says:

    Later Kelsey, Later.

Nik needs the game ahead of MU. Where he is a certain starter.

  691. Maciek Says:

Since i can’t watch this game, I’ve got one question. How is Fabiański playing?

  692. kelsey Says:

Raddy,ok but nik has been piss poor but ramsey has strength and class.

  693. Stu Says:

Maciek, Fabianski has basically been untested but has shown good decision making and good handling.

  694. kelsey Says:

nothing to do except saved well from a shot going a yard wide

  695. Mark C Says:

Nasri does not have the 180 vision that Fabregas has.

Plenty of time he did not see the wide players when the wide players were calling for the ball. He needs to stay out wide.

    Djourou looks good.

  696. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

I think with Little Nicky  he does need game time to get his touch, but he has been poor all the same

  697. Mark C Says:

    off

  698. Paulinho Says:

Loving our football in this match. Fluid and lucid.

  699. Rasputin Says:

Let’s see how good RVP’s free kicks are ?

  700. Stu Says:

That was defo a straight red. RvP was through if he wasnt taken down.

  701. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Off

  702. Rasputin Says:

I’ve seen a lot of free kicks from Toure – I don’t remember him ever scoring from one?

  703. Rohan Says:

    cmon ref

  704. Pedro Says:

On target from Kolo… well I never!

  705. Pedro Says:

Keeper should have been out for that…

  706. Mark C Says:

    ..

  707. Stu Says:

What was Fabianski doing there. So thats one thing Almunia has over Fab. Almunia can play sweeper keeper better.

  708. Pedro Says:

Rasp he did last year… a duffer against bolton or someone like that.

  709. Mark C Says:

Toure is playing well as a RB

  710. Rohan Says:

he did score from a similar position last year. newcastle it was i think

  711. Rasputin Says:

Thanks Pedro – it didn’t make an impression on me!

  712. Stu Says:

Yit was Bolton at home. 2-0, even Rosicky was alive back then.

    RvPs touch is dreadful tonight!

  713. Maciek Says:

    Thanks!

  714. Rohan Says:

i think what this match tells us is that walcott is our greatest weapon and the sooner he is back the better

  715. Rasputin Says:

RVP – what a tart, don’t push the defender, chuck the kitchen sink at it and force it into the net

  716. Rasputin Says:

Ramsey looking more reliable than cesc tonight

  717. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    We need a goal badly

  718. Big Raddy Says:

This Macari was a pisspoor playuer, and now a worse commentator. Fuck off you stupid Old Man

  719. charybdis1966 Says:

    Arrgghhhhh..disallowed goal!

  720. Stu Says:

Get Wilshere and Vela on for Denilson and RvP. Time to renew his partnership with Nik.

  721. rico01 Says:

    JD, Kolo, Ramsey – Good
Nik is pants, as is Nasri
Denilson, there goes another pass astray……..

Ramsey – get real Arsene, he is ready, and Smudger used a rare word to describe a JD tackle – OUT MUSCLED the forward….. He too is so ready, bloody play them

  722. rico01 Says:

Stu – Nik is so bad at the moment! Vela for him imho ;)

  723. Rasputin Says:

Spot on about Ramsey and JD rico

  724. Pedro Says:

    Merson:

‘Arsenal don’t, not, well, better than on pitch like Man U’

    Ah… got ya!

  725. Rob From Aus Says:

theres got to be a card for simulation!

  726. Pedro Says:

Well… we’re dealing with the long ball a touch better than last time…

  727. Stu Says:

Wouldnt be suprised if Merson was sleepwalking or even drunk whenever i see him on tv.

  728. Rasputin Says:

Not Niks night – get him off for Vela

  729. Rasputin Says:

Shit – he’s taking Ramsey off – shades of the spuds game!

  730. Stu Says:

Sky jst said that Ramsey cae off for Mannone. Nice!

    Vela to the rescue!!

  731. Big Raddy Says:

OK. Let’s go. Now we have some pace

  732. Pedro Says:

Game changing subs on the way!

  733. rico01 Says:

WTF!!!! Best player off, Ramsey, not Nik!!!

  734. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

I’d get Vela on to run @ them

  735. Rob From Aus Says:

why ramsey off? play him in the centre 4 denilson u cunt….thats dumb

  736. Evo in Oz Says:

    everyones pumped, vela on!

  737. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Vela there you go :D

  738. Rohan Says:

    yay
    velaaaaaaaaaaa

  739. rico01 Says:

Ramsey off, he must be playing on Sunday then

  740. alex Says:

why did he put Monnone on the field?

  741. Evo in Oz Says:

Setanta commentators sinking the boot into ramsey and bendtner

  742. Rasputin Says:

The balance of the team looks better now – I’d have taken Nasri off for Diaby

  743. Big Raddy Says:

    Come ON RvP.

  744. mark Says:

i hate RvP…he’s pissing me off badly now
take him off for little jack

  745. charybdis1966 Says:

What Alex – is Mannone comnig on for Fabianski ?

  746. Evo in Oz Says:

put that one in the back of the onion bag

  747. rico01 Says:

rasp – me too, Surely AW can see…… And in the words of a ‘Song’

    What a difference JD makes………..

  748. Big Raddy Says:

Nasri on Right. Diaby left. It looks better

  749. rico01 Says:

rasp – me too, Surely AW can see…… And in the words of a ‘Song’

    What a difference JD makes………..

  750. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

RVP is the unluckiest player going around :(

  751. Pedro Says:

Sky commentators are talking about how much the Madrid players are hating Chillieni…

  752. Stu Says:

No, Sky said that Ramsey came off for Mannone but it was vela on.

  753. Nightman Says:

    Fucking brilliant Vela

Get the ball just past midfield

Turn, run, pass, get in good position

    Thank you

  754. Mark C Says:

we are just too slow, and their keeper is on form

who else is on the bench?

  755. alex Says:

they showed Monnone on for Nikki B but then showed it later with diaby on for him. I cant tell on the turkish stream. hopefully a mistake? surely AW is that crazy

  756. Big Raddy Says:

    Diaby is pure class

  757. rico01 Says:

Great play Diaby, Come on Vela …………….

  758. Metal Gear Says:

This scottish commentator is a cunt!!! ex manc I hear cunt!!!

  759. Pedro Says:

We’re so erratic in the final third… we’re rushing everything…

  760. markcha Says:

    what?

  761. Evo in Oz Says:

    this is becoming comedy central

  762. charybdis1966 Says:

A goalie for a striker Alex – nothing would surprise me when it comes to Wenger.

  763. rico01 Says:

Raddy, he has so much to give us, he needs to play now, surely now he is match fit

  764. vandejie Says:

Ramsey will start this weekend. that’s why he was taken off IMO.

  765. Evo in Oz Says:

    this ref is a cunt

  766. rico01 Says:

    chary – good evening

  767. Rasputin Says:

Not praising Wenger here, but he has started subbing at 60 mins and not 70 which at least allows the subs to make an impact without panicking.

  768. Stu Says:

Doesnt look like our night tonight. Shot after shot just goes sailing over. Wilshere should have come on for a WHU special.

  769. Evo in Oz Says:

how shite is roberto carlos these days….

  770. rico01 Says:

Bugger me, Roberto’s legs would suit a BBQ!!!!

  771. Rob From Aus Says:

BUt surely he wont play ramsey on the right against Man u?!! that would be a waste of talent and he couldnt handle it

  772. Rohan Says:

    wenger reads le grove!!!!

  773. Rasputin Says:

Denilson is playing more of a Gilberto-type role this evening and not making too bad a job of it.

  774. rico01 Says:

Kolo’s best game this season, and Diaby is just a natural

Nasri is struggling, soon time for LJ or Gibbs??

  775. Stu Says:

Ya, Denilson isnt trying anything fancy and is reading the game suprisingly well.

  776. Big Raddy Says:

Rico – you are on fire today !!

  777. rico01 Says:

Rasp, that kind of language is not allowed here :)

  778. Rob From Aus Says:

they are rugby tackling us without the ball, and what? a yellow card thats two now!

  779. Rasputin Says:

One thing’s for sure, we won’t get an unjustified pen like pool in extra time – that only happens against us…..

  780. rico01 Says:

That could have been a RED!!

    GO KOLO GO KOLO!!

  781. Evo in Oz Says:

    red

  782. rico01 Says:

    Raddy – :)

  783. Big Raddy Says:

Our shooting has been v.poor this evening. As have our corners. Not one has created any danger

  784. Evo in Oz Says:

    need a goal from this

  785. Pat Says:

    Denilson…no comment

  786. Rasputin Says:

Oh nooooooooooo – Song is warming up

  787. Pedro Says:

This is frustrating… but I think the goal will come.

We seem to be keen on whipping the ball into the box… but there is no one in there to finish it!

  788. Pat Says:

    Great job Silvetre.

    Porto equalize.

Del Piero is a fucking monster. Madrid 0-2 Del Piero…another free kick

  789. Stu Says:

Thats bullshit. Van persie gets a yellow for getting the ball and a thump in the mouth.

  790. Big Raddy Says:

Why did the clown book RvP?

  791. Rasputin Says:

Sorry to his fans, but RVP is pathetic, he should be forced to do an army assault course twice a day until he toughtens up

  792. Rob From Aus Says:

rvp is frustrated as a bastard. id take him off

  793. Evo in Oz Says:

    white line fever that boy

  794. Pat Says:

    What skill from RVP

  795. Stu Says:

I would have taken Van off but who will go there if he does? Wilshere? Hes good but not that good.

  796. Evo in Oz Says:

no one to bring on Rob.

he’s better off just scoring the cunt

  797. Rasputin Says:

Corner – can we defend it?

  798. rico01 Says:

Raddy – agree, if we found a head with our crosses and corners, we would have so many more chances –

    1 – 0 anyone ??

    Lighter note

One night after the big fight Mike Tyson was a bit depressed so he decided to get a prostitute to cheer him up. After the act, they were laying in bed having a smoke. The prostitute said, “Well Mike, how’s it all going?”

“How’s it all going?” he asked. “My life’s a disaster. I was born to an under-privileged family, had a hard up-bringing, was thrown in jail for rape, now I’m on parole and I’ve hit a cop, my wife left me for beating her up, I have to pay maintenance for my kids, I’ve lost two world title fights, I’ve disgraced myself and my sport, most people want me banned me for life and they won’t pay me my money. Nothing could make my life any worse.”

“Oh, that’s so sad,” the prostitute said. “I’ll say one thing to cheer you up. You’re a much better lover than Magic Johnson!”

  799. Big Raddy Says:

They love a dive these Turks

  800. rico01 Says:

Sorry Guys, but this is funny, and after all, its only a game of football!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I know you will love it !!!!

A man came home from work one day to find his wife sitting on the front porch with her bags packed. He asked her where she was going and she replied “I’m going to Las Vegas.”

He questioned her as to why she was going and she told him “I just found out that I can make $400.00 a night doing what I give you for free”.

He pondered that then went into the house and packed his bags and returned to the porch and with his wife. She said “And just where do you think you’re going?”

    “I’m going too!!” he replied.

    “Why?” She asked.

“I want to see how you are going to live on $800.00 a year”!

  801. Stu Says:

Fenerbache are some dirty cunts. They are like Vishnu, arms all over the place.

  802. Metal Gear Says:

This scottish commentator is a cunt!!!!!!!!!!

  803. Pedro Says:

  804. rico01 Says:

This does not look good !

  805. Evo in Oz Says:

    hahaha…song to come on hey?

  806. Rasputin Says:

Fans singing their hearts out now

  807. Stu Says:

We are fucked. Song is on his way.

  808. Rob From Aus Says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  809. choy Says:

    where is LJ

  810. Big Raddy Says:

    Guess Who’s coming on….. AW’s love Child

  811. markcha Says:

    song to score

  812. Pedro Says:

Is that the best we can do…

  813. rico01 Says:

    cheating gits, thats red!

  814. Stu Says:

Is it just me or does Songs hair get shorter game after game?

  815. Rasputin Says:

I said singing – not Song Wenger you muppet!

  816. Rob From Aus Says:

we r fucked now! u kno no matter what Song somehow always gets a game?!

  817. Stu Says:

Does that mean that Ebour and Song are brothers? Because i always thought Eboue was Wengers lovechild

  818. rico01 Says:

does this not really show all of us, just how important Ade and Theo are to this club??

love them or hate them……………. i love theo :)

  819. markcha Says:

Why didnt Sagna come on, and Toure play CB?

  820. Pedro Says:

No Rico… it shows how poor our squad is…

  821. markcha Says:

    Nasri very poor tonight

  822. Evo in Oz Says:

there was only gibbs, sagna and whilshere left that could have come on

  823. Mark C Says:

    time wasting

  824. Pat Says:

Ref is having a mare. Fener should have seen 2 red cards and Clichy was just blocked off.

  825. rico01 Says:

Fair point Pedro, didnt look at that angle, bugger

  826. Evo in Oz Says:

    fuck these cunts fuckthem all

  827. Evo in Oz Says:

waste 5 minutes, add on 2 minutes

  828. Rasputin Says:

I have to say that Denilson has been quietly effective, don’t know what’s going on with cesc – he seems to have lost his spark

  829. Stu Says:

Wengers at it again. Sitting down with his arms crossed, using the occasional arm wave to complain about the team that he picked to his sidekick that doesnt seem to do anything.

  830. Evo in Oz Says:

vela has been shafted by the team tonight, no service whatsoever

  831. Evo in Oz Says:

cunts, that should have been 10 minutes added on

  832. raif Says:

    we are shit.

    and we know it

  833. rico01 Says:

Stu, he is cheesed pff with the cheats we are playing, i dont think it the team tonight

  834. Evo in Oz Says:

get some fucking balls into the box on to some bastards head

  835. rico01 Says:

Has the ref been visited by the Turks at half time, he is so bias towards them

  836. Mark C Says:

is their keeper wearing a scarf?

  837. rico01 Says:

Have to go now – keep it nice, will be thinking of you all – ;)

Nite nite – and all aint so bad

  838. Mark C Says:

    wenger didnt shake aragones hand.

  839. Stu Says:

What a crock! United look out!

  840. Evo in Oz Says:

fucked if i know what i get so excited and then the result turns out to be the cunts then i have to go to work all day and wallow in misery

  841. Rob From Aus Says:

another fucking shit result! Fuck u wenger u useless fucked up dumb cunt!

  842. Rasputin Says:

We have no cutting edge. Whenever we do go forward at pace, there is only one player in the box with 4 defenders surrounding him. We don’t surge forward like we used to.

  843. alex Says:

    top 4 team? try mid-table.

    poor poor poor.

  844. Stu Says:

    Wankers united got a draw

  845. Evo in Oz Says:

the cunts with that is cesc and denilson have run their guts out for 94 minutes and they will back up in 3 days time. we’re fucked!

off to work lads, very disappointed.

    catch u all later on

  846. kelsey Says:

well who is going to be our strikers on saturday ??????

  847. charybdis1966 Says:

Oh well, that’s that nil-nil and porto win at Kiev.

  848. Stu Says:

Porto won and Lucho got sent off for celebrating. The group is wide open.

  849. Rob From Aus Says:

i cant wait for the excuses now! 1. oh its because i didnt start song or 2. they kicked us to hard or 3. everyone cheats to much or 4. denilson & song didnt play up front like i wanted them to…

    Lame Lame Lame

Im sick of this bullshit. Top euro team and we cant even score! against fenerdivalot

  850. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

poor old Fenerbitche its moth balls for them stupid boring cunts.

Johan was great still hasn’t had a goal against this season. He must start on Saturday.

  851. Big Raddy Says:

Can’t blame AW tonight. I thought he put out the best team available. His Subs were fine, (even Song for Silv). The problem was the players.

Cesc in the 2nd half was total pants. His passing was dreadful. Nasri, the same – a pisspoor game. Nik was hopeless as well.

RvP should have got two minimum.

Positives…. JD and AR. Both had fine games. Kolo looked stronger as the game went on. Denilson looked comfortable.

  852. Rob From Aus Says:

meh im off to work, later lads

  853. Stu Says:

Calm down Rob, at least we didnt lose or no1 was injured. Fish should be ok for sat.

  854. Big Raddy Says:

    I need some hard liquor.

  855. Stu Says:

Same defence except Sagna for Silvestre, Ramsey should start and Vela and Nik should start too, despite not scoring tonight. Fabianski to retain his spot too.

  856. patthegooner Says:

Did they just get booed off

Happy with the Clean Sheet, but really we should be winning those games. Best player got taken off at 60 Mins, so that better mean that he is resting him for Saturday.

1st half was better than second, but overall not good enough.

Highlights: Ramsey and Djourou (What is the betting their performances are not enough to get them on the pitch on Saturday)

Lowlights: Nasri, Nic, Vela, and another appearance in an Arsenal shirt for Song

Ok’s Fabianski (Had little to do) RVP, Denilson, Cesc, Clichy, Toure, Silvestre.

    MOTM Ramsey

    Wenger got it wrong again.

  857. aviophobia Says:

Is it Wenger’s fault they missed so many chances?

  858. Keyser Says:

Rob – Did you see the elbow to Silvestre ? Should we just not moan about that ?!

  859. Sion De Freitas Says:

he had wilshere on the bench, why didn’t he bring him on, he’d have done a good job. Its like having a player you KNOW will change a game but not playing him, i dont care if hes 16, he can play.

I have to say that we were incredibly wasteful, the whole midfield, denilson was the only one who was pretty solid tonight, bendtner was awful, i hope he plays better on saturday. Vela tried hard when he came on, but perhaps a little too hard. We had BETTER take our chances against United, or we are gonna lose I’m afraid.

  860. walnav Says:

Cesc is leaving in summer guys. At least his attitude and performance on the pitch shows that. He seems disinterested. I think he needs a bollocking and needs to be dropped and tell him no-one is bigger than Arsenal. And all those Vela fans, he is not ready physically. If Wenger makes the mistake of starting Vela against MAN U. Man U’s defence will play volley-ball with his body.

  861. Sion De Freitas Says:

Ramsey actually played very well may I add, probably pipped denilson, as did Djourou, he was more solid than any other CB has been so far.

  862. raif Says:

theres nothing more i can say about this team that nobody knows already..

  863. walnav Says:

Cesc is leaving in summer guys. At least his attitude and performance on the pitch shows that. He seems disinterested. I think he needs a bollocking and needs to be dropped and tell him no-one is bigger than Arsenal. And all those Vela fans, he is not ready physically. If Wenger makes the mistake of starting Vela against MAN U. Man U’s defence will play volley-ball with his body.

  864. brendon gunner Says:

i think it’s not arsene’s fault tonight,he did play the best formation with what we got;with walcott injured and all. the only mistake maybe bringing out ramsey.

  865. Rasputin Says:

I bet Edu would have made a difference if he’d have been ready to play again by now.

  866. kenny smith Says:

    RVP was shite!!!!

  867. Queen of Suburbia Says:

Hate to say it but we missed Ade tonight.

  868. David Says:

    another arse performance.

  869. Rasputin Says:

Edu is a much more clinical goalscorer than RVP and he would have been in the box hoping to get on the end of crosses. He scores a lot of goals with his head (against england) for a little fella

  870. Sion De Freitas Says:

I don’t think Arsene was really at much fault tonight. It wasn’t a bad team he put out, they just played like shite.

I’m still annoyed wilshere didnt play, im 100% confident that he will be excellent once he gets a chance

  871. spurdozer Says:

Cesc is leaving in summer guys. At least his attitude and performance on the pitch shows that. He seems disinterested. I think he needs a bollocking and needs to be dropped and tell him no-one is bigger than Arsenal. And all those Vela fans, he is not ready physically. If Wenger makes the mistake of starting Vela against MAN U. Man U’s defence will play volley-ball with his body.

  872. David Says:

U speak the truth Queen…I think you see why Ade is very important to what we do…at least he has pace…

    Wow…so many shitte performances….Specially Vela…my gawd.

  873. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

I know I probably go on a bit about JD20, but wasn’t it refreshing to see a tall CB heading with certainty out of defence. He can only get better.

  874. patthegooner Says:

I was happy with the starting line up but just did not get subbing your best performing player on the hour, all of our creativity and flowing play stopped when Ramsey went off.

I guess now that given that our last game is away in Porto, the Kiev game is now a must must win……

  875. Mandanda Says:

RvP has got to be more clinical he had the best chances.

Did the stadium look half full or what?

  876. David Says:

we missed Ade…we missed Eboue we missed Walcott…

  877. patthegooner Says:

    My team for Saturday

    Fabianski
    Sagna, Djourou, Toure, Clichy
    Ramsey, Cesc, Diaby, Nasri
RVP, Bendtner (He cant be that poor again)

  878. patthegooner Says:

How long is Theo out for?

  879. trindle Says:

Pat, I think RVP is suspended

  880. Rasputin Says:

I agree that Cesc looks to have lost his passion for the club and if that is the case, we should take top dollar for him as he’s got years left on his contract. Oddly I don’t think it would be the end fof the world as we have emerging players in a similar mould.

It’s a shame Gallas doesn’t like to play the holding midfielder role as it appears that JD and Sylvetre is currently our most effective CB partnership and Wenger won’t drop him.

  881. spurdozer Says:

OKay guys. I’ll be back tomorrow.

  882. patthegooner Says:

I will tell you who we missed tonight

Gareth Barry, David Villa and David Silva,

All of whom we should have bought in the Summer……….

  883. Big Raddy Says:

Utd rested 6 players tonight ahead of Saturday.

    I don’t think we have a prayer

  884. David Says:

    news flash pathgooner

Betner is that poor….he is completely garbage.

  885. patthegooner Says:

Oh fuck he is, isnt he,

    Bendtner and Villa then

Does not give us a lot of options on the bench

  886. Big Raddy Says:

    Well said Pat

  887. patthegooner Says:

Did I say Villa, sorry dreaming again, that is who would be starting if we had a competent manager this season. I meant Vela

  888. trindle Says:

Assuming he plays Nik and Vela (I’m a fan of both, but the criticism tonight is deserved), who have we got fot the bench?

  889. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Raddy

Its situations like this that legends are made & stars are born.

…..& this situation is more Arsenal than being overconfident/cocky :)

  890. David Says:

We need a World Class Player in just about almost every position on the field dont we?

    Including the post…

  891. David Says:

well said gnarley….hopefully it would be a bunch of stars that would be born…but the so called future aint looking so bright…

  892. BOY BETTER KNOW Says:

tonight proved a couple of things cesc is already in a barca shirt, bendtner and van persie cant play together, saturday is going to be another embarresment and the last one we all know this wenger is a complete and utter cunt

  893. ethangunner Says:

    david
it don’t matter what strikers we field there still not good enough – my point pre season !
missed ade ? how do you figure that ?

he was anonymous last game before he twisted his ankle ! and we lost !
.. at least we drew this game and had several chances against a team that is far superior to stoke ! a better performance team wise , and that’s what having ade out of the team gives you .
more dominant possession , no end product .. but hey its not like this season has been a goal fest anyhow … id rather see the return of slick passing … the goals will come …
just keep playing like that …

    an improvement … overall
ramsey – needs to play every week ! and we missed theo !
Vela was disappointing .. but hey, he only had 20 minutes … a bit hard to be too critical on the lad , he attempted a run of 2 … but over all ineffective .

  894. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

For the first time in a while, Sir-Fur-on-Tongue won’t be able to read Arsenal like a book. There are so many unknown factors, that this coming weekend might just be the fork in the road for The Goooooooooners.

    Be brave Mr Wenger.

  895. Big Raddy Says:

What to do about Nik B ? He looked totally out of his depth tonight. In every department. His control – awful, his heading – non-existent, his shooting – the same. And his passing was worse than poor.

I have seen him play brilliantly for Denmark – so what has gone wrong? Is it that he feels ostracised by the team? Or is he just in a bad run of form ?

  896. patthegooner Says:

I dont think we are that far off David, but I do think that we are weaker in every position on the field from the Invincibles starting 11 apart from

Sagna, Cesc and Clichy……….Toure was obviously part of that team. We have some players that have the potential to break that in Ramsey, Djourou, and maybe Nasri but I do think we are not even close in the front two. I still think we need a Torres or a Ronaldo in the squad.

  897. Maciek Says:

It will be hard to win on Saturday with this sort of play, and Fabregas looks uninterested, so my team for saturday will be:

    Fabiański

    Clichy JD Silvestre Sagna

Nasri Ramsey Toure Walcott or Jack

    Diaby

    Vela

I would go with Kolo in the midfield because we all know that Denilson can’t tackle.
But we all know that Djourou wont play sa well as Ramesey and Fabianski.

  898. SIMON MCAHON Says:

Fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!!! another wenger masterclass in inept substitutions ,
    song instead of sagna
but the biggestg point for me tonight is the fucking arrogant egotistical bastard that is RVP,
after the stoke show of petulance he knew hewould miss our biggest game of the season agaunst the mancs so you think he would bust a gut to make it up the fans ,but no he plays like a cunt infront of goal should have had at least two , this would have calmed the nerves ,
for me i hopethe arrogant prick goes in the summer i’m fed up with his bad attitude , and sulking ways he has the attitude of the dutch team of the early 70’s which cost them dearly at the world cup in 74,
now we have major confidence problems for saturday ,
    The taem will probably be
    almunia, i hope not
    sagna
    toure,would like jd 20
    gallas
    clichy
    cesc
    denilson, ramsey for me
    nasri
    diaby
    bendtner
    vela
    ROLL ON SATURDAY ,

  899. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Johans new knickname “Gibraltar” .

  900. Big Raddy Says:

BBK. Playing like he is now, Cesc would never get in Barca’s first team.

Iniesta and Xabi are different class.

  901. Pat Says:

JD and Toure played at OT 2 seasons back, did they not? And we kept a clean sheet!

  902. patthegooner Says:

Personally I think we should break the bank for Villa or Huntelaar in Jan. I our Strikers are so inconsistent and none of them are World Class. both Ade and RVP should be back up Strikers behind Huntelaar and Villa. In fact yes fuck it we should buy both, especially if the extremely hyped by injury Eduardo does not come back as quick as expected.

Neither are in CL football so why not. Bring in Barry as well and we are on the way. I think we are covered at the back as long as Djourou gets to start regardless of if Gallas, Toure, Silvestre and Song are fit. It should be Djourou + 1.

    Covered on the wings too

  903. Pat Says:

Its sad how you blame Wenger for this. We were solid on defense and created enough chances to win the game. This was the players’ fault, not Wenger.

Think before you talk. Wenger has been shit annoying lately, but he was not at fault today. United game is far more important than Fener.

  904. ethangunner Says:

    Fabiański

yes everyone forgot to credit the lad !
he was all class tonight !

not only ramsey – and johan but Fabiański too !

3 good things came out of this game , wenger would do well to acknowledge it ! and play them regularly ! infact 5 good things, we didnt lose ! and we got 1 point !

  905. patthegooner Says:

For me, JD and Toure are the strongest pair at CB.

  906. choy Says:

pat do you really think we will last the distance for the PL ?

  907. patthegooner Says:

Pat, I think he got the starting 11 right.

I think he got the Subs wrong. Certainly the Diaby for Ramsey one.

  908. ethangunner Says:

    pat

good to see you come around to my way of thinking !
    nothing beats class strikers !

currently its like trying to run with no legs !

  909. ethangunner Says:

yes pat i agree , but over all you cannot be too unhappy with the result ,only 3-4 days ago we got rolled by stoke .. so to draw with fener , isnt too bad ..

  910. raif Says:

im looking foword to tomorrow’s post.

  911. patthegooner Says:

Ethan, I have always been thinking that way,

I rated Adebayor last season and still think he has the potential to be World Class, but he is damaged goods now and has gone backwards not forwards. I have been critical of RVP for a couple of years, he has never done it for Arsenal, has never been consistent and does not look like being consistent.. We need a striker that you just know is going to score in more games than not.

Choy not sure what Pat you were asking that to, but for me, we will come 4th.

  912. patthegooner Says:

I am happy with the clean sheet Ethan but not too impressed with the draw.

Fenerbache are better that Stoke, but as per the last three years it is the same old comment

We should be winning those games.

Still think we will win on Saturday though.

  913. ethangunner Says:

i think we will come 4th if we buy in jan !

  914. Big Raddy Says:

If we are to sign a striker, I would like Benzema. But I would be very surprised if we do.

We still need the DM. Denislon is not the man…

  915. choy Says:

like the optimism.. i for one think we will get hammered :(

  916. Pat Says:

No, I don’t think we’ll win the league but its worth a go.

  917. Big Raddy Says:

I agree Ethan, but which great players are ever sold in January? any team that has a chance of getting silverware is going to want to keep their best players.

I realise money talks, but would AV sell Barry, or ‘pool Alonso ? We may be able to pick up Noble from WHU, but he is not good enough. Ya-Ya Toure is a possible, as he is hardly getting a game at Real.

Strikers – Lyon will not sell Benzema until summer. ANd we need someone with experience, not another player with potential.

Plus Dudu is on his way back

  918. Big Raddy Says:

    Night ‘all

Looking forward to tomorrow’s post. It should be a cracker, particularly with the mood Geoff was in today !!

  919. Pat Says:

Trust me, Fabianski shouldn’t play against United. He’s impressive, but he is too inexperienced against top sides. I’ve watched him play in Legia(I’m polish). Not ready yet.

    Line-up:

    Sagna Toure JD Clichy
    Theo Cesc ??? Nasri
    Diaby
    Nik

    That looks really weak

  920. patthegooner Says:

I think Barry will be available at the right price

I think Alonso is untouchable now, he is on fire.

    Yaya is possible

    Huntelaar is possible

David Villa and David Silva are possible

What I dont want to see in Jan is unproven risks or average Silvestre like signings. definately no Nobles or Krancjars.

I want to see a couple of genuine World Class players coming in. In saying that 1 squad player I would love is Ireland from Man City. I think he is top drawer and creates a lot and puts in 110% every game.

  921. patthegooner Says:

Will Theo be fit for Saturday?

  922. Paulinho Says:

I must be the only one who thought RVP was top class tonight, especially in the first half. Made great runs, runs Ade never makes. He just couldn’t convert. No big deal.

Oh, and one more time, Hleb>Nasri.

  923. Pat Says:

Yea, RVP was great today. Can’t even fault him for the finishing really. First chance was a last ditch tackle and the 2nd was a wonderful save.

    Theo MIGHT be fit.

Paulinho, agreed with the Hleb > nasri. Always have and always will. I don’t think Nasri will ever reach that level. Hleb was something special.

  924. kenny smith Says:

    RVP missed about 4 sitters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  925. Rasputin Says:

If RVP was top class tonight he would have converted at least one of his chances. He panicks in front of goal and tries to kick the ball too hard rather than pick his spot. When have you ever seen him put a delicate chip over the goalkeeper’s head.

  926. Doublegooner Says:

Just got home & after watching this club for over 40 years I am short of words.

Here we are calling or pinning our hopes for Vela, Nasri, Bendtner Ramsey, Wilshire even Theo, hoping for change or the spark, buts its desperation because these players are too young too inexperienced or not good enough to perform.

There is nothing we can do at least til January as some of you have already said, those players may not be available.

Yet once again he sticks Diaby on the left & Vela up front instead of left. Is Wenger losing it ??

In 11 years of Arsene I am now seriously worried.

  927. Pat Says:

4 sitters? i only recall 2 clear cut chances and it wasn’t hit fault that he didn’t score. You’re bing much to harsh. 1 was a great save and the other was a great tackle. What the hell was RVP supposed to do?

Jesus. Vela was garbage today and so many were calling for him. No, he’s obviously not ready.

  928. Doublegooner Says:

    PAT:

You’re clutching at straws re; Hleb. He had great technical ability, but was a wimp mentally & physically. His performances in his 3 seasons probably added up to about 10 very good games.

  929. Paulinho Says:

But at least he’s making them. The chances came from great runs and it’s not as if he spooned the chances to row Z, he was just inches away. RVP has been in great form recently. In open play and a great set-piece threat. We could really do with him on Sat. Set-pieces seem our best scoring opportunity at the moment!

I think the game was encouraging. We tailed off near the end but I liked the template of our game. You have to remember alot of these players haven’t played regularly. That ten per cent sharpness could have made all the difference.

Three cheers for Kolo Toure. A real sherman tank going forward!

  930. Pedro Says:

Pat and double gooner, I agree on both fronts.

  931. mark Says:

the team selection wasn’t the mistake…the subs were, ramsey shouldn’t have been taken off and song shouldn’t have been bought on
fabregas now officially to me is a GONEr…he showed that tonight with the lack of effort he put in.
all we need to do now is spend big in the summer, like pat said (villa / huntelaar) we need a good (not average) consistent forward and maybe a midfielder who is comited and cares and puts effort into his game

  932. Pedro Says:

    Ramsey was fucked Mark…

  933. Pat Says:

No, I’m not clutching at straws. Hleb was world class. Barca buys world class players, something we will never do again under Wenger.

Don’t read into his stats. Nasri hasn’t shown me shit yet. He’s just not good enough yet and I cannot wait for Rosicky to get back.

A wimp physically? Umm, last year the improvement in his strength was really visible.

You’re just mad he left us for a clearly better team, with much more ambition.

  934. mark Says:

he did better than denilson was doing

  935. Paulinho Says:

Doublegooner, you said it yourself- great technical ability. Players like him in ‘wimpish’ mode are still better than switched on Denilsons.

Anyway, he wasn’t a wimp. Wimps don’t ask for the ball in midfield with opposition players waiting to come through them from behind, like Noble and Carew did last season. Wenger said a similar thing yesterday.

Wimps are Denilson who never takes risks and play square passes all night, never getting himself into high risk/high reward situations.

  936. Doublegooner Says:

Very slight odds, but the guy who sits next to me is head press & PR for major online bookies & they have opened a book for Wenger to not be here next year.

  937. Pat Says:

Ramsey might start against United. Thats why he came off.

  938. Pat Says:

If Hleb was a wimp, every single fucking player on the Arsenal is a wimp

  939. Rasputin Says:

RVP goes down far too easily. A defender only has to flick an arm in his direction and he’s writhing in agony on the ground. What he should be thinking is, I’m getting back on my feet in case a goalscoring opportunity comes my way.

We are all familiar with that plaintive look he give’s refs when he doesn’t like a physical challenge. He is a really gifted player but not consistent or tough enough. Theo now rides takles that a year ago would have left him sat on his arse – RVP need to be a more honest hardworking player to compliment his undoubted talent.

  940. patthegooner Says:

I agree that I think Cesc will be off next Summer and Wenger can only blame himself for that.

Cesc dropped enough hints about playing alongside World Class Players. Arguably we had 11 of them in the Invincibles year, now we struggle to field 3 or 4.

What we can only hope for is that Cesc goes for in excess of 30m and the right manager and it might not be Wenger spends it wisely.

For me Villa or Huntelaar is a must. I know some point to Eduardo coming back but somehow his Injury has elevated him to Pele like status and yet all he did was show a bit of promise in a couple of games, he was not exactly Fernando Torres or Etoo. I would ship either RVP or Ade out and get a top flight goal scorer in.

  941. Rasputin Says:

Pat – Kolo, Clichy, Sagna, JD and Ramsey are not wimps, though they do have more guts than the rest of the team put together.

  942. Doublegooner Says:

    Paulinho:

IMO he was a wimp because he never lived up to his potential. Denilson isn’t a wimp as he tries but he’s just woefully short of the right stuff.

We have far too many players who should not be playing for this club that just 4 years ago graced World Class players in a magnificent team.

Wenger must take the blame for that.

  943. patthegooner Says:

Helb was a great player and very underated. If he could score more goals he would be World Class.

  944. Paulinho Says:

Fabregas seemed pissed off that the crowd booed tonight. Total idiots. Do these morons ever use their brain and realise booing does nothing whatsoever? Especially when the application of the players has not been found wanting.

  945. Doublegooner Says:

    Pat The Goon:

I’m with you, only thing I query is who are the possible 3 or 4 World Class players :) ?

  946. Rasputin Says:

Why are we going on about a player that left us in a disloyal and underhand way? We should be talking about the players we have and those we hope to get, not dwelling on a player with whom we won nothing.

  947. Paulinho Says:

The point is though Hleb was absolute top echelon regardless of living up to potential. If we had brought in an improvement fair enough but have we? I don’t think so. People seem to think we have because Nasri is more ‘productive’. This magical word that automatically makes Nasri an improvement on Hleb for some reason. I don’t get it personally. It’s clear to see Hleb is vastly superior in nearly every department bar shooting every now and then.

  948. Rasputin Says:

I agree about the booing Paulinho. To be fair the crowd did try to lift the players in the last 15 minutes, but as you say, I didn’t think the players lacked effort so booing was completely out of order.

  949. patthegooner Says:

    Well Said Doublegooner

Yet if Wenger had have replaced like for like instead of shipping out Proven Class and Experience and replacing with no experience and potential or even balanced it, we would have been in a position to challenge every year since.

When you get players like Ribery and Etoo expressing an interest in coming to play at Arsenal and you turn them down, it fucking sucks. I just wish for once that we would finish a season in the red as far as transfer dealings go. Wenger seems to have personal targets based on financial rather than success and winning trophies. He needs a wake up call.

  950. Paulinho Says:

Now, people, stop going about Hleb. It’s not as if I mentioned him to start the whole thing off again ;)

  951. patthegooner Says:

Double Gooner, for me Clichy, Sagna and Cesc are definate World Class. you are right I struggle to name the 4th one.

  952. Rasputin Says:

FFS – what the hell is it with Hleb. He’s gone – get it. What are you trying to prove. It’s your opinion and your welcome to it. Can’t you play another record – it’s bloody boring!

  953. Paulinho Says:

Rasputin, leave it alone. He’s gone ;)

  954. Rasputin Says:

You no bloody well I didn’t bring it up and I told you he’s gone…….
Why do you insist on winding people up with this shit when we’re all frustrated after yet another disappointing performance – it’s not clever and not calculated to promote harmony. So how’s about you leave it?

  955. Queen of Suburbia Says:

Bendtner is starting to look to me like a 6-8 goal a season man. Just not quite good enough for a top club.

  956. Paulinho Says:

    Chillax.

Anyway, it’s not winding up. It’s extremely pertinent to the current mess of our midfield and why Fabregas is below par. More relevant than blathering on about Pires, Viera etc. Players that were quite clearly past it and left at the right time.

  957. Pedro Says:

    Guys… love and happiness… Al Johnson…

Just think, you’ll have a great post from me to look forward to in the morning!

  958. Rasputin Says:

Oh I see – so thew answer to our problems is to discuss ad infinitum a player that left for a ‘better club’, doesn’t want to play for us and would never come back – just exactly how does that help?

More likey is the fact that you have some weird quest to evangelise the memory of hleb until we are all beaten into submission and say ‘OK paulinho, you are right, we are wrong, hleb was our saviour, we just couldn’t see it’

  959. SFOGunner Says:

it is too early to praise fabianski. he was not tested much tonight. Until he plays physical opposition, it is better to delay saying anything.

  960. Paulinho Says:

Now that wasn’t too hard was it. Mission completed :)

  961. Rasputin Says:

    Bollox

  962. peachesgooner Says:

Its understandable when we are upset and disappointed with our team that we should all have players from the past that we feel would have made the difference to tnites game – I wish Bobby had been out wide on the left instead of Diaby – when he came on.

I’ve only just signed on and apologise if this point has already been made, but I would have liked to seen Diaby play behind vp and vela out wide on the left.

  963. Mandanda Says:

    I’m I banned??? hehehehehe

  964. Queen of Suburbia Says:

I found your comment on RVP tonight very revealing Paulinho.

“He just couldn’t convert – no big deal”

It’s similar to your views on Hleb that as long as he can play the pretty pretty passes then he has no responsibility to contribute to the scoresheet.

For the record, it was a pretty bloody big deal. tonight. It was the difference between 3 points and 1 point.

  965. Rasputin Says:

No peaches – with great respect, that’s called nostalgia.

It is great to reminisce, but it is only helpful when discussing ways of strengthening our present team as an example of the type of player we should be looking for perhaps.

It’s the old ‘if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle’ argument. Fact is, those great players are gone and no degree of wishing will bring them back.

  966. Queen of Suburbia Says:

Strange thing is I think Hlebs ability to dribble was missed tonight, it might have unlocked a way through. Then again, I’m not sure we’d have finished the chance even if one had been created.

  967. Queen of Suburbia Says:

In fact if the second hald had lasted 3 days, we’d have still not scored.

  968. peachesgooner Says:

Thanks rasputin for putting me in my place – ouch – i was only trying to make you all feel a bit better – this Hleb debate has been raging for days and I think its not a bad thing to reminisce about players who have left, just unrealistic.

  969. alex Says:

I really miss Eduardo. He provided us something we dont have, a player who does try this pass bullshit- he strikes and scores. RVP is our only player. but he hits it so hard its like he is trying to punt it into the goal. the lad needs to calm down a bit because the talent is there. We wont need a new striker if Eduardo can come back in form.

  970. peachesgooner Says:

. . . . . . . and I don’t think reminiscing means that you want them back – because clearly you can’t have them back, its just a way of reminding yourself how it could have been different.

The great players that have passed through our club cannot be replaced, however much the scouts search there is never going to be another Vieira, Bergkamp, Pires, Henry etc. What we want are new world class players at our club, thats what we should be looking forward to watching.

  971. Rasputin Says:

    Very true alex.

  972. Paulinho Says:

Queen, in the long term it’s not big deal. Someone with RVPs’ quality will not keep missing those chances. Everything is there in his game bar the finish and that’s better than someone whose hopelessly out of form and not looking like scoring. It’s too fickle for my liking. That shot goes an inch under the bar and everyone would be singing his praises.

I don’t get the overall criticism with RVP this season anyway. He’s been our best striker by a distance. Great set-piece taker and getting himself into good positions. I don’t slag players that are generally playing well and RVP has been in good form, looking dangerous, which is a pre-cursor to him scoring goals in the future.

  973. Rasputin Says:

Peaches – you need to go back and read the context of the comments because you misunderstand the nature of the debate. I, like you, love to reminisce about the past and I have never said that it is a bad thing – just not a solution for the future – its a different subject. If w are talking about the future, let’s be realistic. If wre,re talking about the past – let ’s reminisce.

  974. Paulinho Says:

Don’t worry Peaches. It’s always the ones who never rated a player.. then find out they were wrong….that get especially fragile when people talk about it for a length of time. They don’t have that same problem when other players are mentioned strangely enough. It’s an ego thing for them as well.

  975. Rasputin Says:

It seems that this discussion is coming down to the classic I’m happy to watch beautiful football’ against the ‘I just want to win trophies’.

If your opinion is that a player can be described as great even if he doesn’t score or create scoring chances, or, in the case of RVP at 24 years of age we still have to wait for him to develop his goalscoring skills – I’m guessing you may be firmly in the ‘beautiful football’ camp.

If however you want to see resilience, consistency and hard work in equal measure to talent and creativity – you are probably in the ‘winning tropihes’ camp.

  976. Paulinho Says:

What do you mean develop goal-scoring skills? Have you checked RVP’s scoring record recently? it’s pretty handy. Not every striker converts every chance they’re given. Forgive me for not going apeshit over RVP hitting the bar and going close on a few other occasions while the rest of the team are playing shite. In a hum-drum champions league game as well that shouldn’t mean a great deal in scheme of things.

As for beautful football versus trophy winning football – we’ve got neither at the minute. At least we had beautiful football for large spells last year.

  977. peachesgooner Says:

Oh rats, just wrote a comment and it disappeared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  978. Rasputin Says:

Paulinho – my last word on hleb and your monotonous obsession. Don’t tell me or anyone else that I have found out I am wrong. That is pure ignorance and cowardice.

You cannot win a discussion. As far as I’m concerned there is no argument.

Why don’t you just set up your own ‘I love Hleb’ site. Then you can ramble on about him until your heart’s content and share the love-in with other like minded individuals. I find you very boring and suspect that your overwhelming need to try to prove you are right is a way to compensate for some personal inadequacy.

  979. Paulinho Says:

It’s funny how such a monotous discussion provokes a stream of garbage from yourself at every turn. Most people who find something boring usually just read on – I know I do.

  980. Rasputin Says:

Your pretty tough in type paulinho – want to meet up sometime? Tell me I’m talking garbage to my face.

It is you who resorts to insults as you cannot stand anyone who can argue against your biggoted opinions.

  981. Seb Says:

god i just want to kill myself tbh after tonight. It was like watching your gran try to eat an apple without her dentures in. No penetration whatsoever, no bite, no power.

Even when we get chances we dont take them. I totally agree with others, I have been desperate for months now for Eduardo to come back, at least you can rely on him to hit the net.

Players out of position everywhere, players performing nowhere near their potential, injury list as long as your arm again, I don’t know if I can cope until January – and god knows what will happen if we don’t bring someone in.

  982. peachesgooner Says:

Okay, thats enough from both of you, please put this to bed before you make other people feel uncomfortable on the site.

You disagree about hleb – don’t use him as a tool to wind each other up.

  983. Paulinho Says:

No thanks. I’m strictly butterside up :)

  985. Paulinho Says:

Wenger always plays Eduardo on the wing though, unless it’s a cup game. He doesn’t like using number nines through the middle as he doesn’t feel they are contributing enough in general play. Problem is, that’s where his predatory instincts are best used.

  986. peachesgooner Says:

Goodnight grovers, sems bed must have called you all away xxx

  987. Wolski Says:

At the game tonight and wa shappy with the team selection when I saw it, with the exception of the fact that I would have liked to have seen Vela from the start especially as he will probably play saturday.

My opinion of our game tonight was like watching a tennis rally! left, right, left right…I have got neck ache!!! no penetration, decisive runs. nasri, cesc, neither of them wanted to take someone on and make a penetrating run. Kolo was the only one towards the end that looked to do this. Theo was missed! I felt Cesc is not right at the moment, something is wrong I have never seen him play so many misplaced passes..the team just did not function. Cesc needs a rest.

As for the booing…the team did work hard but it did not happen for them…out of order and will not do spirits any good to lift them for saturday. Mind you it was a small %.

Mind you, when I sat down I felt myself looking at the pitch and my mind kept going back to wedensday night! Wonder if they felt the same??

  988. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

I think some positives came out of the game:

    1. Little Nicky  is short of a gallop. Actually he moved like a draft horse, but he needs game time to find the real pace of a top flight encounter, & now we know that,

    2. JD20 is the real deal. We have found a potential big CB who will be around for 10 more years or so.

    3. AW is starting to listen to Le Grove.

    4. Ramsay is pure class, & Cesc could be a ticking time bomb (waiting to go off to Barca)

    5. Kolo is back to his old scurrying self. He needs to be the DM. What he misses Johan or Hi Ho Silvestre will mop up.

    6. The noise is back @ home games. So what if there is some booing. Fans want success, its their right, & if the players are too precious to take some stick then they can fuck off to pansie land, &

    7. If Mr Wenger can build on that defensive performance today/tonight, Arsenal could…….YES COULD!!…….. be Champions of Europe.

Footnote: With Eduardo, Rosicky, Walcott, Sagna, Pass Master, Billy G & The Togo Taranchula still to come in, plus potential January signings, The Arsenal could still go all the way.

Queen, in the long term it’s not big deal. Someone with RVPs’ quality will not keep missing those chances.

Thats true ! he was surrounded for 70 minutes by Nik B who was in a woeful state ..
RVP cannot do it alone ! playing next to nik Last night was like being down too 10 men
(the same way ade usually affects the game ) – he doesn’t !- or only negatively !-offsides – poor passing – lack of movement- passing off in the box recently ..

Besides cesc is suffering from quality because all his partnerships this season suck !
in the same vane as RVP sucks due to his partnerships lacking..

we need better experienced players along side our 3 or 4 great players to make them greater … it isnt rocket science !
RVP for the chances he created ALONE ! he did fantastic !

remember that ! RVP created everything he executed !

he wasnt some ade standing in the box being fuckin anonymous until the perfect pass came in !
    to reap glory !
he battled and tried to beat the man … he looked like he has the starting’s of a quality striker ,
he just lacked a class partner !

anyhow it wont matter soon the gangling rock giant will be back and RVP is in a differing class to any striker we have in our ranks (save possibly dudu ) who i wouldnt want to bet on currently either !

  990. ethangunner Says:

when you have a clinical partner up front like DB 10,
your going to get clear cut chances in a game ,
and whilst i think nik is coming along (better than ade) ,
i dont think he has what it takes currently to fill the void !

ive been screaming for a striker since pre – season and now you are seeing
it all for yourselves finally ..

  991. benno Says:

GG9, the games on ESPN in an hour, am i going to be even more depressed about the performance than the result when i watch it?

and i’ve been calling for Kolo at cm since the 1st game of the season, also it was good to see JD20 get a run out and even better to hear everyone’s opinions of his performance

  992. ikon Says:

ethan… bang on with ur lack of partnerships point

didnt see the match but I am delighted to see Ramsey start and doing so well…. I am totally for Ramsey starting alongside cesc in the middle, Denilson contributes nothing to his partnership with cesc….. Ramsey does everything, effectively and intelligently, and when in a spot of bother has the (monsterous for a 17 year old) upper body strength to get him out of trouble.

When dudu returns, it has to be RVP-DUDU upfront

else a 4-5-1 with Ade upfront and Diaby behind him.

I dont see us doing very well against manu with Nik as the striker, I say get Rui Fonte in or Simpson in, Fonte is in impressive form, and Simpson will be trying to make a name for himself, he is that kinda lad, we all know….. better to go by some statistics/indications rather than just going by the pecking order… wrongly reshuffled by wenger himself.

  993. benno Says:

Ikon, Simpson…Fonte, u are having a laugh right? Fonte would be eaten alive by vidic, and it would probably ruin his career. And Simpson has no prem experience either and tyou want to stick him in against united :S With Bendtner at least he has some experience in the prem and of playing against big teams, and scoring in important games, ala his goal against spurs last year. Trust in the big fella, he’ll come good, imo he just needs a smaller quicker steriker around him such as Vela or Theo to feed off the chances he can make when he drops deeper.

  994. ethangunner Says:

    ikon

it has to be RVP-DUDU upfront

    i think your right !
but you know wenger … ade will play every game again when fit ,
or until he is sold !
wenger wants to justify 80 k a week .he cannot be made to look stupid in giving into ade’s pay rise requests …… and he will ruin this club trying to justify it !

Ade really need to get some class … and i don’t mean it rudely he needs to train with his team get too know their ways, sharpen up his game ,and learn to adapt to the arsenal game plan ..
    FOR REAL !

Personally ive never liked his game , it contradicts everything arsenal stand for ,and flashes of brilliance surrounded by 80 minutes of goofing off wont win us any titles !

we need better ! a club of our stature cannot afford to pay 80k a week to a loser like that !
david villa would probably be happy with that sort of wage .. and i can tell you who id prefer in a heart beat !

it might get cesc too stay also !

if i was wenger id be approaching villa in jan ! it would kill 2 birds with 1 stone !
or sell cesc when he’s playing like crap and lose 10 million on him !

  995. benno Says:

Tbh we need Dudu back asap because he’s our most clinical striker and he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net when noly goven 1 or 2 chances, something most of our other strikers can’t seem to do at the moment. Just look at the finish agaisnt everton (i think) last season where he was 1 on 1 and just arogantly passed the ball past the keeper, how many of our other strikers at the moment would have not hit the target or hit it straight at the keeper.

  996. dev Says:

how long do we have to put up with that RVP shite…goes hiding in big games, keep ballooning chances after chances. take shite free kicks… gets injured week after week…gets more red cards then playing time…..yet there will be morons out there who think that he will eventually explode into the scene..eventually

reminds me of the The infinite monkey theorem

  997. ikon Says:

    benno, i am serious….,

Fonte is having a great run with the reserves…. and Simpson has got a great physicality to his game. This is a desperate time for us…. if we dont win against Manu, title race is over for good.

I kinda am liking the idea of playing theo upfront against manu, theo loses the ball so often , its much better if he does it farthest up the pitch, and manu have great wingers in ronaldo and evra, losing ball on the flanks will harm us.

    Almunia/Fabianski
    Sagna/Eboue-Djourou-Sylvest/Gallas/Toure-Clichy
    Nasri-Cesc-Ramsey-Vela
    Diaby
    Bendtner

I think this is the best lineup we can field.

Vela can act as a striker cum winger, we need to win this one badly.

  998. ikon Says:

    or no Diaby
    and Theo-Bendtner upfront

  999. ikon Says:

so that vela theo can switch if need be

  1000. benno Says:

Ikon, for someone to step up from the reserves to the mancs without playing at a level in between is like playing russian roulette with his career.

If Theo got behind the defence centrally as much as he got behind the full backs he’d have a fucking hatful of goals this season…if by playing him centrally it allows him to go directly 1 on 1 with the keeper rather than being out wide and having to cut in or cross it surely it must benefit the team. It would also require Evra to play a lot deeper to cover Theo because he’s the only one who can even hope to cope with his pace, and imo the further back uniteds full backs are the better it is for us, hence why i agree that vela should play on the left. Stick Bentner up by himself and then play two CM’s with Kolo playing the holding role behind them. Djourou and Silvestre/ Gallas Cb’s, probs Silvestre because a) he’ll have a point to prove to Fergie and b) I don’t want a less than 100% fit Gallas playing against Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez & Berbatov

  1001. ikon Says:

benno, wenger tried sticking walcott upfront in almost every pre season game, it was a failure.

He couldnt get past the defenders, he was shrugged off too too easily, it is a gamble playing him upfront, but less than him playing on the flanks. Its very difficult to play Walcott without admitting to taking risks. Tht is why i believe wenger steers clear of playing him from the start whenever possible, and rests him at the slightest excuse.

But we are so short of options, that he might have to play.

Still imo, our biggest worry should be keeping a clean sheet and not the win itself.

  1002. benno Says:

The key to Theo playing up front is he needs a through ball played in behind the defence (the type of pass Cesc excels at, and ramsey proved he is highly adept at against England in the U-21’s) so he can use his pace to beat the defenders to the ball. And the Theo playing at the moment is a completely different Theo than that who played in pre season, he actually seems to have the belief and the mentality to challenge defenders and to keep going when things are going against him, rather than being easily subdued by defenders. I admit after pre season i was quite anxious that Theo hadn’t appeared to have made too much progress, but as the season has gone on he’s grown into the sort of player we expected him to be (not the finished article by a long way though).

I think if this club is to have the future every Arsenal fan craves for, the defence has got to become settled, i.e working like a well oiled machine. Its been crap, hence the results have been as well. Let in 12 goals to chelseas 4.

Once the backs are settled then the mid field will be able to express itself more, then, the goals will come from a partnership up forward.

Ofcourse the down side is keeping a fit list coz injuries are so prevelant these days.

Winning 5-2 is ok every now and then but when you come up against a team hell bent on sitting back like Fenerbitche did, then you need to make sure they don’t grout a goal on the counter.

no point in comparing our defense to chevski’s when you dont compare our midfeild to theres or there goal output either .. (strikers)
everything must be taken into consideration when looking at stats .. thats why ade’s stat of goals scored alone last season didnt make him a good striker … it was the players around him …

have a look at our defense last night … not too shabby , a RVP goal or 2 and we would be praising them now ..

also your comparing ultimate experience to near NO experience ..
but if your saying we should be like chevski ! i concur, however that would take another 100mil in transfer funds .. :)

  1017. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Ethan

The spurs game sums up where The Arsenal is at.

0-1 down from a fluke goal, but still the keeper was caught napping.

The forwards etc were good enough to get it to 2-1, then another lapse 2-2.

Immediately its back to 3-2, then 4-2 with injury time to play. There is no way the forwards can be blamed for the 4-4 result. We all know AW fucked up with his subs, but even so, the defence should be switched on. Good clubs play the same system down through the reserves, etc, so that when they step up, they already know the style to play. The body language is poor @ the back, & it is costing The Club points.

When The Arsenal made the Champions League final it was because they did not let in a goal for eternity. If you don’t concede a goal you don’t lose. So surely there is enough strike power up front to score @ least 1 goal per game. 1-0 to The Arsenal.

People used to say “Arsenal are boring”, but they won the double in ‘71, umpteen F A Cups, League Championships, etc.

When the wankers from the other clubs take the piss, my reply would be have a look @ the Trophy cabinet.

So, my main focus is on defence.

Ethan with you concentrating on the forwards, we could come up with a winning formula, Chamone!!!

Too true gg9…..look at Real…..all that attacking flair but the defense is non existent (for the Juve game) despite having probably the best GK in the world.

……make no mistake. There are a few disappointed Arsenal people out there, but none would be as pissed off as the Fenerbitche coach, Arogantcunt. Did you see the look on his face during the ame. he knew they had to score and/or win 1-0 but he didn’t bank on Big Johan getting in the way. They are virtually out of this comp now :D
