Yesterday Arsene Wenger told the shareholders that the press and the supporters aren’t supporting the team enough, give me a break Arsene, we have stuck by your baby experiment for 4 years now and still turn up in our droves, we still buy the shirts, we still sign up to the Arsenal channel and we’ll always love the Arsenal, whether you’re the manager or not, please don’t tell us we’re not good enough. This is what he said.
‘I believe this team needs a strong guide to go through difficult periods, because at the moment I do not feel that, either from the media or our supporters, this team gets the support that it deserves.
‘I want to be that guide and I want to get this team to deliver not next year, but this year.”
Meanwhile, Wenger has hinted that he could reinforce his squad with signings in the January transfer window.
‘We want to win at the end of the season and if we feel that signings are needed in January to accomplish this, we will do so’
Have you got any idea how much we pay to watch our team Arsene, you earn shed loads, we pay for that, at least respect us and don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
Out of interest I wonder has he ever paid for a ticket to watch Arsenal, bought a shirt or subscribed to a pay channel, I bet the answer is no, and he’s telling us we’re bad supporters!
You say we’ll buy if we need to in order to win something, we’ve needed to buy a centre back since Sol Campbell and Tony Adams left so why haven’t you bought already? Why wait till January?
I love this team, I love the way we play, I even love the boss, Arsene Wenger, but please, please don’t tell us we don’t support our team enough, I’ve had emails from every manc, spud and chav I know, taking the piss out of what you said, so thanks for that, but do us all a favour, start winning trophies and lay off us.
If you seriously want to win the league, stop playing the shit players you stubbornly keep picking and play those your unsupporting supporters know will do the job.
Finally if you want atmosphere then tell the useless stewards to shut the fuck up and stop telling us to sit down and be quiet.
Maybe then we’ll win the league again

Classic Avenall, ‘it’s good the board shares my dream’ are you reading Hounddog?
What happened to those fancy white seats? And where were the stewards telling us to sit down or we’ll be lobbed out?
guys this is interesting
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1080242/Milan-wanted-Senderos-obvious-theres-lack-class-centre-backs–Wenger-defends-lack-defensive-buys.html?ITO=1490
‘On the other hand, I would like to show you some players of letters who left us and how much they would like to come back.
‘That is always very impressive to see. That is why I think we have enough strengths to keep them together.’
Bullshit… football players can’t write!
Easy to say that isn’t it, show us one then. What about Vincent Kompany for £6mil, he’s have done.
Geoff,
I was the steward telling the chump to sit down. We cant have people singing in the Emirates!
how can complete idiots in the poll say he was not out of order in what he said.what he said is outrageous….
houndog, yes I know you cant ask for a new manager to keep youth players and yes I was hoping for too much. but I get the feeling wenger is disappearing up his own arse. he at least needs a strong number 2 to tell him no from time to time. clearly what wenger has done for this club cannot be under-estimated but I do feel that at the moment we are punching UNDER our weight having puched over it for so many years. These super talented young players deserve more from Arsene. they at least deserve a strong defence behind them.
http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/10/24/Prem-Pires-exclusive-on-Adebayor/
why the hell is Pires defending TT?
Good point Gazzap
houndog what about Liam Brady and Steve Bould double act taking over from wenger? a defensive minded number 2 and liam bringing the kids through. I would love to see that happen. they both want to play football in the right way.
G’day Fellas,
I would like to put my t’penny worth in.
All us older folk remember the noisy Highbury. Yet within a few years of all-seater stadiums the atmosphere had radically changed.
We weren’t called the Highbury Library for nothing. After the destruction of the North Bank, I became a Clock Ender because that was where us singers assembled. Where is the singing focal point at the Emirates ?
And I take serious umbrage at the continual use of that Fucking DJ. Prior to the game we used to sing the songs of each player, and they responded with a wave. It established a dialogue between us and the players. This no longer happens because we are forced to listen to some shite music.
When a player (Henry or Cesc) goes towards the crowd and calls for some noise, the noise level goes up dramatically. Why ? Because there is an acceptance that we help the players perfom. It is a dialogue.
So….. we need some action from the players as well as the curtailing of that fucking DJ’s activity, for things to start to improve
Liam fucked that up when he took the Celtic and Brighton jobs!
Spot on Raddy, spot on!
And close the bars 10 minutes before kick off. Get the crowd in early.
Re-open the bar no more than 5 minutes before half-time.
Penalise early leavers – maybe take note of season ticket holders who consistently leave after 80 minutes, Send them warning letters. Find out why they leave early, – after all, they have waited all week to watch this game, paid a lot of money, and will talk about it for the next few days. So why do some fans want to get into the tube queue 10 minutes early, just to get home half an hour earlier?
The last 10 minutes of a game are often the most exciting and yet these numpties feel the need to get out early. To me it defies understanding. Park half an hours walk away, thereby missing the traffic jams, and getting some exercise in the process.
Top Stuff from Big Raddy!
Geoff
i think theo – jack- vela are of a better class than even cesc ..
We have got 3 or 4 players who are truly world beaters ( or will be ! ) .Messi like !
. i s’pose the trick is to keep them happy – secure them on long term contracts , keep them enthusiastic .. And get them all to gel at the same time .. Im not totally convinced that wenger’s experiment will fail , some good has come from it …. but what is apparent is that timing is crucial .. no point in having 11 good youngsters all coming good over a long period of time . his experiment needs to bare fruit now !
the magic needs too happen all in 1 season … and its NOT been close too happening for 4 seasons now .. for wenger time is running out , what does he expect from fans? …
Timing in his experiment is the fatal flaw ! and the need to fill specific roles with the youngsters he has available at that time ..
I think its far better to buy with purpose .. he did well in the past ,and the changing of his tactics have most 2nd guessing him ….
Raddy people leave early so they don’t have to queue for 45 minutes at the station, I leave an hour after the game and still have to queue for twenty minutes, it’s not a case of getting home early mate, honest.
Ethan I’m with you on that!
Geoff, I am simply saying when has he taken credit for building the stadium? Sometimes you are so clever, and I promised not to be such an pain again.
Forgive me.
Gazzap, good shout on Brady and Bould. I wish DB was not afraid of flying as he is the first choice IMO.
hi all,
wow, some good OPINIONS on the blog today which is good. Boy Better know – i dont think you cansay anyones an idiot for agreeing with AW….i agree with him, the gaff is far too bloody quiet far too often but sure its the stewards they play their part BUT if we all as a collective are singing a la anfield then i think you will find that the stewards can do sweet FA… Wrighty7 are you the same guy who writes a blog??
what does everyone think about the Elvis tune before kick off??? i was reading somewhere else that people think it should be changed
I meant anti AKB world
charybdis .. I watched your you tube clips and it is an good example of pre match at the Emirates, empty seats and no singing to drown out that crap song!!
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eGQIBfXHAe0
Hounddog… Geoff isn’t wrapped up in anything.
Generally, Wenger is given most of the credit for the stadium. That isn’t an opinion… you just have to look around the blogs that defend him to the hilt.
Geoff, I understand that.
My point is that to go to a match is a big event. A day out, not a couple of hours and an easy relaxed trip home. Try going to Wembley, Old Trafford, or even worse Cardiff – all grtounds have the same exit problem if they attract big crowds.
AFC have tried to entice fans to stay with the establishment of post-match entertainment (?). They know the problems, as I saw Cesc stuck in a traffic jam trying to get up Hornsey Lane.
But all the regulars know the area, and there are ways of relieving the waiting time (walking to Angel/Archway etc).
As an armchair fan (and I never thought I would have to write that) it is dispiriting to see the huge swathes of empty seats.
Actually, it is illogical, as the queue will still be the same if all fans leave at the same time -10 minutes before the whistle.
Arsenal Tom, Nick Hornby is a legend
Houndog… Funny you should say that. I posted this last night but there wasn’t many on to reply..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7687492.stm
Ok Hounddog I forgive you.
Raddy I’m just saying why I think they leave early, and it’s a lot worse than Old Trafford and worse than Wembly, I don’t care because I hit the bar, but I do understand why, Arsenal should be doing something to help, like putting escalators in at Holloway road, or at least contributing.
I can understand too… especially when there are 3 home games in a week…
Telling the fans to make more noise is like telling someone they have to like you, you can’t force it, if he bought a few players and we felt we could compete maybe it would all change.
As someone said earlier, what about the poor sods that went to Old Trafford for the FA cup game, playing a team we all knew would get stuffed, where’s the respect for them and the money they spent.
He should pick his best team for every game, that what he and the players are paid for.
Or give away free beer like they did at the Reebok last week!
Thank you Geoff
Bollocks to that Pedro, I’m not going all the way up there, not even for a free beer!
Pedro, That’s my point, blogs and other people say things? Personally I have never heard or read anything “directly” from Wenger to claim that he built the stadium or it was his doing? All I know is that he had something to do with designing the dressing rooms.
The beer is worse than piss at the grove Pedro… …if they are cleaning the lines after everygame we could also be slowly getting poisened by it to
Hounddog Avenall put this on earlier, he say in this clip it was his dream.
http://www.goonertube.com/video-sports-91203-emirates_virtual_tour?
I’m off for an hour Grovers.
wenger’s ripped the soul out of our club. sure he has built it in terms of turnover but doing things like buying a chav and a manc for our defence does not help. whats happened to all the loud singers that used to be at Highbury? you think they just gave up supporting Arsenal? no they didn’t, they got forced out and it hurt them. ticket prices went too high and arsenal lost touch of where they came from. the matchday experience has been sanitised too the extreme and then he has the cheek to blame us???!! following a team is not all about how pretty the football is (as wenger seems to think it is). its about the fans identifying with the team and being part of it. we feel like we are on the outside looking in these days, like being at the opera or something. the fans dont feel valued and now these comments make us feel even less valued. we are being pushed further and further from OUR club.
Hounddog, he took a lot of credit for the Stadium in the national press, on the Arsenal website and on the blogs.
No one ever comes out and says:
‘For the record I am taking all the credit.’
So the chances are you wont find a quote like that anywhere.
The point is… he had a big input into the stadium… so he has to take some responsibility for the atmosphere/lack of it.
Passing the buck onto the fans is no good is it? He is quite happy to brag about how well the club is run and how great the finances are… well, without us… he’d have none of that to brag about would he?
Did anyone actually go to the meeting yesterday ?!
I don’t think his comments are half as bad as people think they are, he’s just saying we’ve got a young team they need a bit of extra support, he believes in them and if everyone gets behind them he thinks they’ll deliver.
“Wenger’s ripped the soul out of our club..”
Yeah definetly, Spot On there.. We’re not a club anymore, we’re a Cinema, a theatre, some sort of viewing platform for an artistic forum.
I just read a Myles Palmer article about an article he going to write.
Le Grove: Saturday.
I am going write an amazing piece, so good… you may just explode.
I’m not writing it today though, I can’t be assed.
Cheers for clicking… ta ta!
Hah, Myles Palmer, what a cock, what did you make of that eh Pedro ? Is that what’s been going on here aswell ?!
Catch 22 though Keyser… If you have a good atmosphere, you earn fuck all… if you have good finances you sacrifice atmosphere.
What to do?
Who combines the two well?
It’s like seeing a band.
If you see them in a small venue, it’s buzzing… if you see them in a field in reading with 70,000 others… you lose something… it’s not the same…
It’s not the fans fault, it’s not the bands fault… what do you do though?
Keyser. what up?
There’s nothing to expand upon on my point yesterday. Brazil is not the gold standard for central midfielders. They churn out average ones year after year.
Can you imagine how poor a central midfield of Lucas Leiva and Denilson would be?
Keyser, it’s 7 days a week of all thriller no filler at Le Grove!
This is brilliant for all you foreign Johnies, unable to get British TV
ENGLISH TV ON THE NET. It uses a proxy server to trick the host site that you are in the uk..also useful for watching videos etc on bbc website.
Go to the proxy server site :
http://slypimp.com/index.php?q=aHR0cDovL2J…Y29t&hl=3ed
Use the proxy site to go to the website :
http://www.tvcatchup.com/
i.e. simply type in the tvcatchup.com web address into the box on the proxy website and hit enter. You need to use the proxy site as it tricks the registration process into thinking your computer is in the UK.
3 You are now on the TVcatchup website, but going through a “proxy” server
4.Register with tvcatchup. i.e. create a logon and password. Give an email address. Note down password and logon
5.Close the internet browser.
Open browser and go directly to
http://www.tvcatchup.com/
No need to use the proxy site any more as your “British” account is already created.
Enter your login and watch as much TV as you want
It works !!!!
support is based on community,it all starts there.
i can tell you that around were i sit i dislike about 5-10 people becasue of the shit that come’s out of there mouth.
things like sack wenger, moaning about adebayor everygame, any little thing and they are still moaning.
i respect diffrent people’s opinion but moaning for 90 mins aint gonna help!
i even try to stand up and look around a clinch my fists at people to try rally them up but they just look at you like some mental reject just been found on the street.
Just listening to the AST guy on Arseblog. The very defination of AKB.
Last week I am sure Lofty said on Arse TV that the shareholders meeting is on tonight.. Can anyone check coz me little girl is ill today so it’s Ceebie bloody Beebies on the samsung for a while yet!!
Eh, get them going, leave them glowing, and watch the sparks fly..
Pedro, that is an interesting analogy. And once again, it is about dialogue with your audience.
Go and see Springsteen at a stadium. The atmosphere is fantastic, same with the Stones.
Now try that with some of the more modern acts that rely so much of pre-recorded background stuff (Madonna, etc) and the atmosphere is non-existsent
The Boss gives his all to the audience. He talks, he knows you have paid big bucks to see him, and he delivers.
Same goes for Oasis.
Sunday avenell. Lofty was jive talking again.
wenger is smart he attacks the media and the fans so he can cover up any questions about the lack of Silverware, Player signings, Odd Player Selctions, and the Running of the club at boardroom level.
Nice going Mr Wenger.
Raddy, I’m just talking from a neutral perspective with bands…
I see bands all throughout the year in London… then you see them in a field and they lose something… it’s bigger, it’s not as intimate… still enjoyable, but not the same…
I think it’s the same at Arsenal.
The new seats are bigger, you’re not as tightly packed in… there isn’t that community feel their used to be.
Maybe that is becuase it takes a few years to get it together? Who knows…
I don’t think Wenger attacked anyone, it was an impassioned plea.
If wenger sticks Toure and Gallas at the back and denilson in midfield and RVP up front on Sunday, Arsenal will LOSE to a poor west ham side. he will do it, the stubborn mule. this is another reason he is losing support. the fans know he makes some pretty rubbish team selection decisions.
Avenell, thanks for watching it; it does kinda prove the point about lack of atmosphere.
So who would you play and why gazzap ?!
Paulinho – Is there really a gold standard, I just don’t think you can write off a whole countries central midfielders just like that.
I think people are in danger of turning into Republicans here. Out of context you are damning him like Rev Wright. He wasn’t demanding he was requesting, saying it is a fantastic young team and that young players frequently need a bit of support for a confidence boost. There was hearty applause from the gathered crowd so I think it is a bit harsh some of the reaction here today. In danger of becoming Fox news.
So what you’re saying is the grove faithful need to feel someone’s knees in their back and the buttocks of the fat guy next to you spilling over into your chair, before people will start singing again… interesting
fan noise…it was only last season SAF made a public bitch about lack of atmosphere at OT…actually compared it to going to a funeral…
bring back the terraces, rich fucks stay home…
Well, when people keep coming out with that old classic that because Denilson captained the Brazil under-19s he must be great, I can say to that, “well Brazilian central midfielders are in fact not that good”.
Alrite fair enough LoL,.
Seb, is that Sebastian Svard. Looks like it.
Keyser.. On the Brazil midfield debate.. Playing Gilberto and Baptista in the middle last year would indicate to me that they are not strong in that department.
Love your avatar Avenell
Cheers Raddy,, stood under it in the rain a few times mate.
Me too. Those were the days. Cotton shirts, magic sponge , etc etc
Remember Denton Raddy a year since he was killed?
hello all..
wenger just wants us to show a little love… i’m sure we can do that!!!
so what are your fine people’s teams for sunday?
Hi Pedro, yes that was a good point you made. However, as I said earlier, there are fans that empty the stadium 10 mins before and after the halft time. The P.A. announcer even has to say the 2nd half has started in an attempt to get them back in their seats. That is sad and I think that is what Wenger is refering to. When I go to a game here in Germany or any where in Europe I get all my stuff before or after the game and not during it. It reminds me of the prawn sandwich comment from Roy Keane sometime ago.
Imagine queuing 10 minutes to get your pint becuse you stayed till the end of the 1st half… then you get your £3.90 pint and you are expected to leave it?
Let people drink their booze in the ground… problem solved.
It’s nothing to do with Prawn sandwiches… you are just lucky enough to get beer delivered to your seat in Germany.
of course my 1242 post was edited by Geoff as I’m such an arse kisser
I do Avennell. I was shit scared whenever he was around me !! I would always give hiom a wide berth as he would attract trouble. But he was a true Gooner and always polite to me.
Just pleased I never crossed him !!
I was shocked when he died. Seemed like the passing of an era.
Off out, back later……
Hounddog. Perhaps they should start the 3 bell system they use in the theatre.
Let’s all laugh at the tiny totts;
They are bottom and face Bolton on Sunday at White Hart Lane, with dressing-room morale low following last night’s 2-0 UEFA Cup defeat to Udinese at Stadio Friuli.
”You aren’t too good to go down – believe me,” said Woodgate.
”I have seen it before at Leeds, and Leeds had a better team than we have got right now.
”They went down eventually and we really have got to roll up our sleeves without question, because I am telling you now it is going to be hard.
Relax folks.
With Diaby and Eduardo coming, 4-5-1 would be fine until the final 5 games which will be against Portsmouth, Manure and Chavs. Walcott and Nasri can only be our perfect wing set-ups in history. Leave Ade do the dirty job upfront. Not to mention Vela and Bendtner to push the forward options more. Wenger spending therefore only on centrebacks at the most. Traore can still be recalled. We can do the treble this season and best of all you arse gooners; Sp*rs gonna dead sure will be RELEGATED bwahahahaha!
You all should just have A BIG LAUGH YOUR ARSE OUT AT SP*RS!
WELCOME TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP, SP*RS. Let Woodgate Leeds your way down!
Pedro, another good point. In Germany we can have our beer in our seats and there is even someone who comes around selling it. However, again, do people go to the game to watch football or drink beer? Why can’t they drink before and after the game? Especially if the half time beverages take so long to get served.
yes it is Paulinho, another of our youngsters who promised much but didn’t deliver… here’s hoping the current crop can finally put some silverware in the cabinet.
Well you could carry on like this forever.
Why don’t Arsenal stop serving drinks full stop… people are only their to watch the game?
It’s easy to criticise when you don’t go.
People sacrifice a fair whack of their money and a fair whack of their time. If they want a drink at the game, that is no different to wanting a drink at a gig, theatre show or any other social event.
The buck stops with Arsenal I’m afraid.
Pedro – So what do you want Arsenal to do ? Is there any specific reason people aren’t allowed to drink in their seats ?!
1. Improve the time it takes to get a drink… Festivals have it sussed.
2. Have people wandering around selling soft drink in the stands… at least this stops people with kids leaving their seats.
3. Provide song sheets like they did at the DB10 testimonial
4. Create singing sections
5. Bring back a small amount of terracing. Instead of reallocating relinquished season tickets, see how many hand them in and make an area available for people to stand. Charge half the price, but double the capacity of that area… and listen to them sing!
That’s what I would want Arsenal to do.
Pedro.. I don’t like to keep going back “during the war and all that” But I can remember when the police didn’t even let us go for a piss at half time etc. and people used to piss where they stood..
And the police used to line us up in the tunnel under the clock end and kick fuck out of us on the way out.
Things change, but I suppose we only paid a quid to get in, but it does make me laugh when we are accused of not being real supporters because we cannot go much now.
Pedro, I hear you.. but I don’t like the it’s easy to criticise if you don’t go comment!! I am not criticisizing, just saying the way it is. I have spent a small fortune in tickets and travelling to away European games. I spent 1350 Euro’s for a ticket to the CL final against Barcelona so please don’t play that if you don’t go stuff with me as you don’t know me from adam and have no idea what games I attend. Sorry but those sort of remarks really piss me off.
CL final wasn’t at the Emirates.
I know that if you went you wouldn’t be having a pop at the people who have a drink and comparing it to Germany. There are reasons for everything… and you have to look a little deeper than people not being real fans.
Your prawn sandwich comment pissed me off… slagging people becuase they buy nicer seats is just digging at people for the sake of it. It shows a lack of understanding of the problems.
Big Raddy
Agree 100% about how quiet the emirates is compared to the old highbury
normal working people have been priced out. Where have all the old school
gone .we used to have a really good firm [jon hoy.vidos.jenkins.gurney and his aprentices] I wonder what happened to them I remember being in the old northbank
FA cup game replay v chavs never heard noise as loud as that couldnt speak for a
week after that .That was when we had proper support no one took libertys with us
then we easily had the best and biggest fans then .
Pedro just delete me from this site, it’s so good… I just can’t stop myself coming back! You are becoming a legend of blog land. I was not criticizing, you know I love the site fact is I’m not that smart, I keep complaing and keep coming back, bit of a twit really.
it sure is heated in here..
hounddog.. please dont leave…
Raif,
Hows the little ‘un buddy?
Where is the yellow card system!!!!!
I think that you’re wide of the mark here. The online Arsenal community that read – let alone post blogs – are part of what seems to be an increasing minority; top-quality Arsenal fans. We are the type of fans, who, as you say, buy the shirts, subscribe to the channel and bleed red and white. We’re the type who go to the Grove and try to create something resembling an atmosphere. At away matches, we often create a bigger racket than the home fans. If our home fanbase was filled with the likes of those who travel far and wide and do the team proud, then we’d regularly have noises and atmospheres to rival that of teams like Fenerbache.
The fans that Le Boss is having a dig at aren’t the type of fans who come to Le Grove or any other Arsenal blog. They’re the cunts who sit on their arse and complain when people near them dare make some noise to try and rouse the team. They’re the cunts who got into football when the media hype went into overload and football was the in-thing to be a fan of. They are, in case you haven’t realised by now, people who I don’t consider to be fans of Arsenal football club. They are in fact people who I consider to be cunts. These are the types of fans who Wenger is having a go at, and I am 100% behind him on this.
Granted, Wenger could have been a little more black and white with who he was calling out, and I’d have loved it if he specifically called them a pack of shits. But then, that alienates people and they think twice about whether they’re actually wanted, and the attendances drop, as does the revenue. Which would be suicidal from Wenger’s point.
However, I wholeheartedly agree; the stewards are almost as much of a problem as the Prawn Sandwich Brigade.
Hounddog that is a shame Bud, we all get a bit frustrated sometimes on here, but even if I don’t agree with all your comments I enjoyed the debate.
I’m sure it will calm down..
Hounddog, don’t let yourself become hounded out of town!
pardon the pun.
I had to double look then, I thought to myself I didn’t write all that did I?
Then I reaslied it was just Wrighty not Wrighty7!!
About the beer in seats thing; it’s a licensing issue. And fuck all to do with alcohol licenses. Want to know who to blame as to why you can’t drink in the stadium? Blame the TV channels. They’re not licensed to show people drinking. I don’t know whether this is Sky’s issue or if it’s because of over-sensitive censorship in Muslim countries (not at all a dig at Muslims – just TV channels that broadcast in Muslim regions), but TV licensing is where the blame for not being allowed to drink in your seat lies. Which makes it all the more baffling when Mike Ashley was pictured downing his pint.
At the end of the day… people sit on a waiting list for ten years, buy the most expensive ticket in the prem and they go to the games.
8000 tickets are ‘corporate’, the rest are normal seats.
Blaming the prawn sandwich brigade is a weak argument.
You want a £100million wage bill? You want a £20million player? You want a 60,000 seater stadium… accept there will be a corporate aspect to the ground.
Don’t blame them for the atmosphere though and don’t make our people who sit in club level are second class supporters. There are 40,000 people in the normal seats.
It’s surprising how it only gets heated when certain people turn up on the blog… if hounddog can’t blog without starting a row… that’s his fault and he can deal with it somewhere else.
Haha yeah. I’m grateful that a Wrighty that writes an Arsenal blog decided to add a number to his name. I can’t imagine not posting on the internet as Wrighty, lol
About my choice of term for the prawn sandwich brigage; I don’t mean this as just the corporate seats. I mean this as a generalising term for all of the jolly come latelies who have turned the level of support at Football stadiums into a joke.
Wrighty… it’s not TV licencing… we all saw the world cup and the beer in the stands!
I think it’s outdated hooligan laws.
Geoff will be pleased to hear that Wenger has totally ruled out signing beckham lol
Wrighty or Wrighty7? u becoming inconsistent
guys what the fuck is all this about Gallas smoking??????????? has anybody herd this???????????????????
oh u different scary stuff
http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/10/24/Prem-Wenger-on-Gallas/
Premier League licencing laws permit the drinking in public and Mike Asley was cautioned by the police.. Who let him off
Pedro, re: bands. Certain bands come into their own in a stadium. Look at AC/DC – their most famed performance of all time was at Donington. As a Metal fan, I make the voyage to Wacken festival in Germany every year – and when you see bands play there, they really do up their game and try to put on the show of their lives, as they know this is the pinnacle of where you play if you’re in a Metal band. It’s wrestled the crown away from Donington, which has lost its special feeling since Monsters of Rock was deserted and Ozzfest and Download turned it into a soulless wasteland.
In theory a bigger stadium doesn’t have an adverse effect on the people who would still be seeing what’s on display, bigger stadium or not. But, just by having the sheer number increase, you allowed the hardcore tenacity of the crowd to dilute.
AC/DC is the best band in the world!!! go buy their new album its ace…. arsenal need to embrace one of their songs before kick off instead of that elvis shite!!!!
It’s TV licensing for the Premier League. Obviously, other competitions aren’t involved in this (to my knowledge), however, the club are obviously going for consistency in the ruling for booze being allowed into the seating area.
Great point Wrighty.
What would you do to make it louder?
Love you Professor
Geoff & Pedro shame on you. Just a week or two ago you were commenting on droves of fans leaving games early, and the prawn cocktail brigade arriving 10 mins after halves have started or departing to fill their glasses.
Surely Arsene cannot lambast individual sections of the fans so he speaks in a manner which is coded but should affect those who need to hear.
Dont take it to heart and also don’t assume those of us who follow the Football Guru are dimwitted or just started supporting yesterday. Many of us fans are like you. We want succes first, but are elated by the fact that when Arsenal play right they are unmatchable for pure pleasure (barring punani of course). So where I imagine we differ, is should we respect Wenger’s choices when things don’t go right. My answer to this is simple. The Spuds like to change the lead whenever a storm arises; The Toons are haemorraging after so many years of this. But Wenger has managed to place us in an exalted state simply because he does actually have the majority of the team right.
I’ve previously mentioned my ongoing problem with Adebayor. But Wenger sees him in training and also studies the statistics.
Then Denilson. Yes he has shown naivete on too many crucial decisions and goals against have occurred, so why is Wenger keeping with him over Ramsey? Well Ramsey demonstrated why in Turkey! Albeit an excellent player, he is prone to get cocky or dare I say it display arrogance (take the back heel for instance).
Song can sing for his supper elsewhere and that leaves the Gallas/ Toure debate. Well actually, problem only arose once Gallas came to Arsenal. That year he got injured and we had our best defensive pairing as Senderos/ Toure. So imagine what Toure could do with Gjourou.
I’ve gone on a bit but I want to say if you label me as AKB i dont care. My point is Mourinho picked winners with Abrams vast pockets and Chelsea were boring. Fergie is a team raider and shouldn’t be over credited than that. and Beni’s vision only seems to be on cue right now, before the chavs game so with our lack of a benefactor, our sensible wage structure, our youthful policy which has managed to snare Fabby, Theo, Vela and Ramsey and our dedication to play the game the right way for want of a better phrase you know Arsene knows best.
On the music point… metal and hard rock is made for festivals… and metal fans are like the Fener fans… fucking mental!
So you have win win for an atmosphere.
Franchise,
There is me WRIGHTY7 and Wrighty. We share the same fantastic name!
He wasn’t smoking, it wasn’t alight!!
He was caught leaving a nightclub on wednesday night with a “fag”in his gob but it wasn’t lit..
Toure, Djourou at the back Clichy captain sorted….
Pedro, you talking to me or Wrighty?
HA HA
Sadly I don’t have any great ideas on how to make the atmosphere any better at the Grove. The only thing that really springs to mind is to just try and get more people involved. The RedAction section is a good idea, however slightly flawed I feel; as it obviously doesn’t get the whole stadium into song. Perhaps a varied form of the RedAction section – smaller, but more sections spread out throughout the ground. I imagine it’d be difficult for people who are sat at the opposite end from the RedAction to get involved in singing – whether due to feeling like a pillock due to being a sore thumb or just because it’s hard to sing with someone who’s hundreds of feet away from you, haha.
I’m sure the club could easily fix the noise issue by doing a bit of research. With the Sports Psychology and Sciences studies that are undertaken these days, I’m sure the club could spend a few bob into looking how best to get the crowd involved. I would offer my two cents on how, but I didn’t pay nearly enough attention in my Psychology classes!
why did he have a fag in his mouth then????? thats like saying i had a dildo up my arse but i didnt fuck myself with it!!!
I didn’t kenny, I swear I don’t know how it got there!
Kush you will be labelled as an AKB if you finish your massive rants with “arsene knows best”
Kenny let’s not bring ex Arsenal players into this.
Wrighty sorry mate cannot stand heavy metal but I do like the word “pillock”
lol pedro
Again with the music: I always prefer to see bands in smaller, intimate venues rather than at a festival or a stadium – you tend to get better sound indoors, especially at theater venues like the Hammy O or the Astoria (RIP soon
). But still!
It’s great being a Wright, ain’t it Wrighty7?
The day a franchise7 8 9 or 10 appears on le-grove Im taking legal actions
Haha, no worries Avenell – each to their own and all that, eh?
and start it ‘Love you professor’
Gallas is stupid. going to clubs and being pictured with a ciggy…fool. I dont like the man anyway. Chelsea twat cant even win a header.
Keyser, well I probably wouldn’t have Toure AND Gallas back in. Gallas or Toure with Silvestre or Djourou. then you have a ball winner and a quick man to cover in behind.
I personally wish we had 2 Djourou’s, one to play at the back and one in midfield, but we’ve only got one and he cant even get a f*cking game! If Johan is used in midfield then I dont give a damn who is at the back to be honest because he wont let any f*cker come through that far and he can dominate at set pieces while Toure and Gallas are picking daisies.
I would also use either Vela or Bentner up top with Ade – given its west ham and its physical Bendtner. Diaby is OK in a 451 as the most attacking midfielder but I dont see his role in a 4-4-2. RVP slows our game down as he needs to take 3 touches to get the ball on his left peg.
So the obvious WHU team is
Almunia
Eboue Toure Gallas/Silvestre Clichy
Walcott Cesc Djourou Nasri
Ade Bendtner
Meanwhile, the Emirates chief played down any suggestion that he has been critical of the fans’ lack of vocal support for the North Londoners, blaming for the newspapers for their reporting of his comments.
“There’s no real issue,” he affirmed. “I wanted, in fact, to be positive as there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
“We want your complete support at Emirates and for you to be behind the team so we can achieve success his year, not next year, as we don’t want to take the fact that the team is young as an excuse.”
Kenny – That was at the bottom of the link aswell, thanks dude.
Hellooooooooooo Grovers!!
It’s Friday!!!!!
I’ve been at work since 8, and only actually worked 3.5 hours!! I love pub lunches, 4 hours of nothing but vino, peroni and taking th piss outta the spuds!!
Pissed as fcuk!! Ha ha!!
Right, will read the post and some comments and be right back!!!
:mr green:
Great news; Sanga could be back on Sunday. Can’t see Wenger risking bringing him back too early, but the fact he’s made a speedy recovery can’t be a bad thing.

Kenny Smith
No rants just observations.
Just deplore the incessant ‘friendly fire’ we exhibit at times here. Most of us who admit to conceding to the genius of The Professor are being steam rolled over on Le Grove. Its time for all those, who were like me, afraid to post, to come out and say. We’re here, we follow Arsenal under the stewardship of the Professor. Our leader wishes to guide us and set us aright. Come season end, all of us hopes he does.
If we have a couple of the central defenders back and are a bit more assured, it could be ok to give Eboue another game there, attacking wise he does well when playing at right back and gives us a different outlet to Sagna.
Kush, that is so embarrassing…
When you reread that last comment, I hope you are ashamed.
mmm Peroni, just an hour to go. My local has just got Peroni on pump too! Granted about 2 months later than most places but heh im not complaining
Still catching up folks, and slighty worse for wear… have we now got 2 Wrightys?!!
How confusing!!
O dub!! there’s only one O dub, there’s only one O dub, there’s only one O dub!!
Pedro,
AW said we need a guide and offered himself up for it. A guide is a leader like a manager. If he guides us then we’ll have won the premiership or maybe CL. Pedro, are you embarassed by that possibility? I know i’m not
Kush…
Words fail me mate!
Pedro,
censorship at its worst. So really what yur saying is b’c I think independently that i’m now designated deserving of moderation. Grow up! but editing posts is good especially when you’re a knob like me.
Kush please… stop…
‘We’re here, we follow Arsenal under the stewardship of the Professor.’
Independent thinking at it’s best Kush.
Kush I’ve never said anything about the prawn sandwich brigade because the phrase was coined by a complete cunt who’s wages were paid by the prawn sandwich brigade, people using the term are also cunts because without them people like you wouldn’t be watching the football we now see.
If you want to whine, go and do it somewhere where people give a toss, I sure as hell don’t.
Hounddog just for the record your 2.12 and your 2.43 posts were also edited.
Kush why should u be afraid to air your views? That is hard to understand. It seems its already a problem that Arsene is bigger than the club in a lot of ppls mind. A lot of ppl saw Arsenal win stuff pre-Wenger. I dont understand this Arsene can never be wrong attitude that a lot of fans have. It is beyond me
Anyway…..
Predictions for Sunday?
I’m going for 2-1 to the arse!!
Sorry Grovers but reading that shit was getting tedious. Listen Kush, this isn’t run by the public domain, it’s run by me and Pedro and listening to someone picking holes in what we write pisses me off.
We gave you plenty of goes but you wanted to be the center of attention, not here you won’t, try Arsenal.com
Afternoon al,Have I walked into a cauldron or what ?
Interesting to Here the one and only DB10 saying he would like to coach at Arsenal, bring him on,but never to be a manager unless it’s for PL only(no flying).he is and was the greatest man to wear an Arsenal shirt in the last 15 years, elequent, loyal and a wonderful player(signed by bruce Roich, who got sacked yesterday.)
Does Pat Rice actually speak after 40= years at Arsenal, never heard him give an interview.
Anu other news folks.
Wengers is a total wanker, his comments about the fans are out of order and a reflection on him. Had his football had any substance to it then people could get up for it but he has killed us off. We are not even exciting anymore. Yes 5 -2 against Fener the other night was good but was losing to Hull and Fulham, was scraping by WBA? The AKB’s just cant see that winners like Mourinho, Ferguson and co kick players arses, buy and develop and sell at the right time. Wengers tight wad philosophy pays the bills, big fucking deal, we have always paid the bills so how have we moved forwards?
Last week I had this total arse behind me telling me that I was not a real fan because I dared question eboue. I told him to fuck off of course and said that had he not been at his first ever game then perhaps he might realise what being an Arsenal supporter was all about. He tried telling me that arsenal would be at the bottom of the league without Wenger. Where do we get these idiots from, I really don’t know. I layed into him with a bit of a barrage and he didnt say anything more but this is a prime example of the wank support that we have.
I’m afraid to say that we will not move on with Wenger in charge in fact I think we will struggle to get in the top four this season. We will lose 12 out of 18 points against liverpool Man U and Chelsea who are the big three, we are not part of the big four anymore they are the big three.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Tottenham got something against us to be honest but they really are super shite and will probably not but then the AKB’s will just harp on about how great Wenger is and so on.
We will get knocked out of the League and FA cups but they will say they dont matter. Whichever we are out of first be it the league or the champions league they will say the other is more important and then when we are out of everything they will see at least we have entertaining football. They so full of shit their breath stinks.
What all of the AKB’s dont get is that arsenal is arsenal wenger is an employee. We support arsenal and show our concerns, they just bury their heads nd say george graham was a wanker, herbert chapman doesnt matter, is there anything more direspectful than that. These people have no real love for Arsenal but are galvanised by their adoration of wenger and therefore are unable to actually understand or see that whilst they say the future is bright they seem to miss the point that the future is also in question as the slippery slope of failure is upon us and we need to fight out of it. Problem is that they will not listen because they want to be right, a but like their hero so all in all you are dealing with blinkered single minded sheep who do not have the ability to form their own opinions. What a sad situation that is when people cannot form their own views.
Last week a lot of people were having a pop at wenger, this is becoming more and more apparent. You look around when they sing to wenger, many people are now just not singing to him. The time is upon this club to seriously look. If wenger is to stay then he needs to get with the times. I say bring Kroenke on board fully. He will set wenger performance related targets. Wenger will be at PSG before you can say garlic breath.
Im going to be optomistic and say after an early goal we’ll go on to win 3 -0
Pedro/ Geoff
What you did to my 3.42 post was uncalled for. As i had not defames either of you.
Geoff I dont quite understand your reference to Prawn Sandwich and cunts but i’ll imagine you are casting aspersions as to me. It’s a shame, that the best blog site that i’ve found for Arsenal will not allow people to expreess themselves.
Sorry about the length of my last post.
Boy that was a long one Inspector C, welcome to our world!
Another thing I keep hearing is that Wenger was instrumental in building the new stadium,he wasn’t.
