Bid Rejected – Theo for right back? – Messimars in our ranks?

Morning Grovers, I hope I.W.S is out of your system now because I have plenty of juicy morsels for you to chew on this morning!

Firstly, I have news of a transfer failiure… Peter Lawwel of Celtic… their dynamic leader, has rejected us.

I’m really sorry to be the one who had to break that to you, and I know I’ve probably just runined your weeked… but there will be other chief execs. Here is what he had to say,

‘I was flattered and honoured to be associated with a club like Arsenal. I think it’s a compliment to the club as well as myself. I’m committed to Celtic and I thank the chairman, Dermot Desmond and the other board members for their support over that period.’

Jokes aside, how long does it take for Arsenal to recruit? I can appreciate you don’t want to get the Chief Exec wrong… but this has been going on for ages! We still haven’t replaced David Dein! Maybe Arsene wants all of the vacant jobs?

Now onto the real news! Arsene Wenger has been talking and he has had a lot to say! He is confident we can win the league this year, he recognises we have lost too many games but he thinks we will kick on. Some people have questioned how much experience we have in the squad, Wenger said this,

‘We lack experience in some areas, I would not deny that but you can’t have everything.’

I love that comment. That comment should read,

‘I’m rolling with the kids, so fuck off.’

A lot was said about Theo in the press conference. Wenger reckons that he is better than Messi was at 19 as he is better at doing things off the ball. At first I thought he was talking about pulling birds or managing finances… something like that… but he did clarify what he meant,

“If you have to look for a weakness in Messi you would say it is his ability to run without the ball, behind the defender.

“When he takes the ball to his feet he’s like a Ferrari. But Theo is more a guy who has the timing to run off the ball and that is something that is difficult to find.

“We had Marc Overmars who was especially good at that and I’m a great, great lover of movement off the ball.”

Overmars was also a great lover of scoring a shed load of goals. If Theo can get anywhere near his level I’d be chuffed to bits. The main difference I notice between Theo an Messi (I manage a sunday league team so you must take this as gospel) is that Messi makes a decision and goes with it… he is either cutting it back or taking someone on. Theo still dithers a bit… he is at his best when he just goes for broke, like he did and against Croatia.

On Theo’s defensive frailities, Wenger said this,

‘If you want to play him right-back, that’s not his strength.’

Amen to that Arsene. Did we ever complain about Bobby not tracking back? I’ll tell you how defensive Pires was… I can remember his one and only tackle during his Arsenal career… Dispossessing Paddy against Juve in the Champions league!

Wenger went on to say what we all feared… he is going to persevere with Denilson who is ‘nearly there’ and he is going to go with Song who ‘Will get there too’. Wenger also champed up Nasri who he reckons will ‘have a huge impact’.

Finally, Paul Elliot reckons he knows 12 gay Premiership footballers currently playing for clubs up and down the country. I am sure that they are all chuffed to bits you have highlighted this to the press and I am sure they will all be pleased as punch to know that every tabloid in the Country will now be tracking them down as we speak.

Some things are just not meant for public knowledge and I think if you are privy to infomation like that, you should keep it to yourself and stop trying to push your P.C ways onto football like homophobia is just a football issue. Like racism, it is a societal issue first and foremost… not a football issue. The vast majority of football fans don’t give a fuck what race, sexuality, religion their players are…so for me, constantly highligting issues just encourages problems and it adds no value to the game.

So plenty to talk about today!

My team:

Almunia

Eboue Kolo Silvestre Clichy

Vela Cesc Denilson Nasri

RvP Ade

Have a great Saturday and make sure you vote in our poll

Yesterdays poll saw 62% of you spend you money on a midfielder, 24% on a defender and 7% on 4 great kids (Arsene was clearly clicking away yesterday!)… the remainig percentage points were split between a keeper and a Striker!

cant believe Diaby is back it the squad?

  6. Evo in Oz Says:

fuck i know mate, how amazing, finally that bastard is fit….on the bench i bet!

  7. Bob N7 Says:

Your team for today looks likely but I would go with Vela on the right side of midfield- although he may be struggling with the aftermath of endless travel miles. I hope Ramsey gets on too as he looks outstanding.
I think all this talk of inexperience is a red herring- our more experienced players have been the cause of our inconsistency. Van P and Adebayor need to get a series of good performances going so that when we do concede the odd goal through set pieces, we’re already out of sight.
    Come on you Reds!

Did you change the good luck charm?

  15. Pedro Says:

Pat, I turned it the other way round… so now it is actually a good luck charm… not a curse.

  16. Pedro Says:

I’ve changed my line up… Vela instead of Messimars because Theo is being rested.

  17. Evo in Oz Says:

    oh oh….

You could presume Wenger will withdraw Emmanuel Eboue into the right back berth with Mikael Silvestre making his Arsenal debut in the centre. The return of Abou Diaby means the manager has plenty of personnel in midfield but, if Theo Walcott is rested, there is the possibility of Denilson moving out to the flank to accommodate Alex Song in the middle.

  18. Pedro Says:

Confident, which game were you looking for tickets to?

  19. Evo in Oz Says:

i didnt realise cesc had a broken nose, but i must admit i was watching the reply of the spain game and i thought his schnoze looked funny at the time, but i wasnt sure?

  20. kelsey Says:

Forget vela he will not be in the squad, too much flying only game back thursday night,

Pedro i am more stupid than my wife says.i pressed all the right buttons,e mail, name etc and still no good.

  21. Pedro Says:

If you can’t register, there will be red writing at the top indicating what is wrong with the form you have filled out.

It might be that the name you are using is already in use elsewhere… try changing it or adding some number to it.

  22. Pedro Says:

Kelsey, it doesn’t say anywhere that he is out the squad?

  23. Evo in Oz Says:

    vela in the squad….

  24. kelsey Says:

Fine just that on thursday wenger said he was tired after his flight and may not feature, most probably get 4 minutes at the end

  25. Confidentgoner Says:

    Pedro,

    today’s match

  26. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

I think The Arsenal will win. They can’t go over a month without one, & Everton don’t have Tim Cahill. Go Go Gunners :D

P.S I bet the tabloids break some story that Capello is gay, just as England look like a chance to win the World Cup.

  27. Evo in Oz Says:

  36. choy Says:

theo being compared to messi.. some big comparisons there eh?

  37. choy Says:

    wtf is wenger saying:

“Johan Djourou is possibly out, Bendtner possibly, Sagna possibly, Gallas unlikely, but he is a possibility for Sunday against West Ham,” said Wenger.

  38. London Says:

    Pedro

Why arn’t you going with Diaby to start. Is your team selection your preference or what you anticipate?

    My guess at Wenger’s choice.

    ———Almunia
    Eboue, Toure, Song, Clichy
    Denilson, Cesc, Diaby, Nasri
    —–Adebayor, RVP.

  39. Evo in Oz Says:

i wouldnt mind diaby to start myself, i just dont see it due to coming back after a long lay off….

  40. spurdozer Says:

I think it will be a draw. Guys. We are always shite after international breaks.
    My team

    _______________CF SONG

    Take this Geoff.

  41. choy Says:

  42. Geoff Says:

Diaby will be on the bench, I just hope he doesn’t play Song.

  43. SkandiBird Says:

Morning Pedro, me like your post, well thought out and written. Hmmmm; I think (from what he (Arsene) said in the pre-match interview yesterday (on Sky)) he may go with Silvestre (not Song) in defence and he has Ramsey in the squad for Everton, so, he may well play him for some minutes during the game. Everton has a high injury list (thank God Tim Cahill is still suspended), so Ramsey may just get a look in. I am sooooo looking forward to 3pm; the sun is shining and I will be wearing my chinese green jade bracelet (gives good luck) during the game and I am hoping for a belated birthday present (Hull (well actually Arsenal) destroyed my birthday!!!!). Have a good one boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. SkandiBird Says:

And, before you say ANYTHING, I will also be wearing clothes!!!!!

  45. spurdozer Says:

Song is better than Messi. He is a future World Rugby I mean World football Player of the year. No doubt. Is there any song for Song.

  46. Pedro Says:

    London, definitely anticipated…

I would have Diaby in there and go with the team I have laid out.

I fear it could be like this

    Almunia
    Kolo Silvestre Song Clichy
    Eboue Cesc Denilson Nasri
    RVP Ade

That would be a disappointing line up.

  47. Pedro Says:

Great line from Henry on racism and abusive behaviour.

“A game of football is a game of football and nothing more, without political or religious opinions.

“It is a question of education and there are some people who don’t have any.”

So true, and that is why you’ll never stamp it out of the game.

  48. Geoff Says:

Don’t forget we will be drinking adult beverages at the S&M from about 1.30 today.

  49. Evo in Oz Says:

    cooking sherry?

  50. raif Says:

haha 12 gay football players in the Prem.

so whats everyones Guess then lol

im going to todays game and lets home we kick arse either way.

  51. finestcuts Says:

It’s good to be looking forward to a game again. Wenger is right about Theo, Sagna is there to defend on the right and Theo is there to create space and score.
If Sagna is keeping an attacker busy, the central defenders are there to help. The amount of goals scored contributes far more than the amount of tackles or interceptions Walcott makes.

Also I fully agree with the comment regarding footballers who indulge in homosexual activities, footballers should keep their sex lives in the bedroom no matter what their persuasion is,
propagating someone sexual preferences at football matches is just as ridiculous as defending masturbation or fetishes, it’s their business what they do, and I’m certainly not going to give any
respect to a news source which bases all it’s “news” content around it’s sexual preference, neither would I to people who base their whole lives around their sexual persuasion. Anyone for masturbation news or foot fetish news?
Anyone for having MTV style videos at games saying we shouldn’t criticise people who like having a five knuckle shuffle and want to “come out” and talk openly about it with immunity from criticism?
They’ve even debased the words homo and phobia and created a completed nonsense of a word and apply it to anyone who doesn’t support their propaganda.
Is homogenised milk anything to do with being homosexual? Is homo-Erectus anything to do this being homosexual? Not at all, it’s worth finding out what the word homo actually means. Then there’s phobic, coming from phobia.
So homophobic would imply you have an irrational fear of anything which is homo. And is it a fear or is that just a convenient term to castigate any opinions which they don’t agree with? At least use a word which makes sense and don’t associate the word homo with
all that is homosexual, or brand people as being phobic, a mental disorder, as opposed to their sane point of view. Keep your tacky sex lives away from the public footballers! Especially young children who are also football fans and are interested in football not social issues, theres a time and a place to teach kids about
different types of sex and different preferences, not at football games, especially not using manipulation techniques to make it look cool and trendy.

Score prediction, Arsenal 3 – Everton 0, a big convincing win against tough opposition to move on from our two previous league disappointments.

  52. James Bartram Says:

big call here but if vela plays, i think he’ll score.

won’t be able to watch it today but ey, go the arsenal!

  53. avenell Says:

    Morning all..

I would just like to say I don’t think any of the Spuds players are gay..
G.. A..Y.. = Good As You and clearly the Spuds are worse than everybody!!.

  54. kelsey Says:

I always thought GAP clothes stood for gay and proud, over to you insidealbania. :)

  55. Confidentgoner Says:

Maybe too risky to trust Diaby with DM when he is match rusty. Doubt if the boss will try it except he has been amazing on training.

    My guess is

    Almunia
    Toure, Song Sylvest, Clichy
    Denilson
    Eboue , Cesc, Nasri
    Adebayor, RVP.

This will give max attacking impact considering the injuries. In the second half he brings Theo, takes Eboue to right back, Subs either Song or Silvestre.

If we are leading I expect him to give Ramsey at least 10mins by subbing Cesc. Onthe other hand, depending on Diaby’s form in training he may play:

    Almunia
    Eboue, Toure Sylvest, Clichy
    Denilson
    Diaby , Cesc, Nasri

    Adebayor, RVP.

He can then sub Diaby after half time for Theo, bring in Song for Dennilson, and allow 10mins for Ramsey by removing either Cesc or Nasri.

I know people have criticized Dennilson including myself but having analysed all the games played so far, he can potentially be our midfield dynamite if he reduces his foward thrust and protects Cesc at the back. He has the energy for that role more than Song who I fancied initially.

  56. Sparrow Says:

    Morning All,

I don’t know if Vela will start, he travelled to Mexico and Canada in the international break. I want him to get his chance.

Quick question has JD and toure ever partnered at CB?

  57. Gunner8 Says:

    Morning, Morning…

Pedro we will see the typical Wenger this morning

    Almunia
    Eboue Toure Silvestre Clichy
    Denilson Song Fabregas Nasri
    RVP Adebayor

Although every gooner would rather a little

    Nasri Denilson Fabregas Vela

    am I right?

On another note we have changed our pre-match lunch to accross the road at the s and b… …so hope to meet you all.

  58. Sparrow Says:

    Here’s a non PC joke, pedro\geoff – don’t ban me!!

Elizabeth’s fitzels diary has been found…
Mon, stayed in and got fucked by dad, Tues same, Wed same, Thurs stayed in and got fucked by dad, Fri Same.

Saturday went to watch Spurs – Wished I stayed in!

  59. Pedro Says:

haha! That joke is the polar opposite of PC, I must remember it for my spud mates.

Gunner8, we’ll be up there at about 1330 I think, see you in there!

I can’t see us playing the dream midfield either… I think Denilson could do a job out right… he isn’t as exposed there. I expect a win regardless of the line up.

  60. choy Says:

pedro.. how about you guys take some pictures of all the people who blog here? it would be nice to associate them with their faces…!

  61. avenell Says:

If we had of kept Traoure he could have played left and Nasri to the right, now we have another player who wants to leave Arsenal.

  62. Pedro Says:

Choy, I would happily take the pictures, but I wouldn’t want my face in them! Anonymity is a must when you are walking through 60,000 gooners… because a small minority are a bit mad…

  63. Pedro Says:

    Have a great afternoon all!

    I’m off!

    COME ON YOU GOONERS!

  64. Gunner8 Says:

hahaaha Pedro, will get my cybershot phone out then… …see you later

  65. insidealbania Says:

    Helloooo Grovers,

Looking forward to seeing a slightly different team today with the changes. Lets hope they click and we go all guns blazzzzzzzzzzinggggg.

Maybe there’s actually a gay team. bet it’s man u

  68. goonermichael Says:

Someone (on good authaurity) once told me one of the nevilles was gay

  69. choy Says:

chelsea are rippin boro a new one and they have 7 first team players out!!!

    5-0 as of now!!

  70. Stu Says:

They’re not really missing 7 1st teamers tho. Cech, Carvalho, Cole, Ballack, Deco, Drogba, Cole. Cech is easily replaced, so is Carvaho, Bridge is better than Cashley and only 1 of Deco or Ballack would be able to start.

PS : I fuckin hate Andy Gray. Im pretty sure that he would suck Lampards sack if given the chance.

  71. Paulinho Says:

Well the point is all of these players are first teamers and if some of the reserves are better than the first teamers – as you think with Bridge – then that just proves the point doesn’t it; Chelsea have a sick squad.

  72. choy Says:

    scary!!

  73. Sparrow Says:

    * 01 Almunia
    * 17 Song Billong
    * 05 Toure
    * 18 Silvestre
    * 22 Clichy
    * 27 Eboue
    * 04 Fabregas
    * 15 Denilson
    * 08 Nasri
    * 11 Van Persie
    * 25 Adebayor

  74. Stu Says:

So toure is RB with Eboue(acyually a RB) playing midfield. Fuckin lovely!!! So once again all our attacks will have to be down the left hand side. Predictable or what!

3CBs, 2fullbacks, 1 wideman and a cunt up front. What a team. Chelsea eat your heart out!!

  75. Sparrow Says:

    Nasri to score anytime 3/1

  76. Sparrow Says:

Not happy with the starting 11 but we just need to cheer the boys on, you never know song could be a good RB… cough…..

  77. choy Says:

stu.. it really does take the piss doesn’t it?

cmon arsenal.. eboue hat trick.. and a repeat of the belleti strike!!!

  78. finestcuts Says:

    ————-Almunia——————–

    Toure——-Song————-Silvestre———-Clichy

    Eboue—-Fabregas————–Denilson——–Nasri

    ———————————RVP—————–

    ————–Adebayor———————————–

Wenger has changed both centre backs for Song and Silvestre, this should be interesting.
Song did well against Sunderland last season at centre back, this is what we need, a bit of rotation at the back.

It looks like Walcott and Diaby will come on at some point during the second half.

  79. Sparrow Says:

is it confirmed that Song is playing CB? Why can’t wenger just drop toure, he can’t play at RB

  80. Paulinho Says:

Toure ain’t that bad at right back IMO.

  81. Sparrow Says:

eboue is a better right back though

  82. patthegooner Says:

Predictable starting 11 but I still think we will win this comfortably

  83. SIMON MCAHON Says:

Fucking hell ANother Game another JOKE STARTING ELEVEN, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PLAYING VELA has a left foot WIDE ON THE LEFT ,
BALANCE ,BOSS BALANCE, YOU ARE TURNING INTO MC LAREN !!!!!!!!
    FUCKING STOP MESSING AROUND…..

  84. trindle Says:

Listening to the commentary on Arse TV – they still think Eboue will be playing RB.

  85. patthegooner Says:

TT offside within 20 seconds, you must be loving it Ethan

  86. trindle Says:

Nope – they’ve just confirmed that Song is RB!

  87. Sparrow Says:

    watching it on

    http://www.justin.tv/nazo_sports

  88. Stu Says:

Out of the whole starting XI its arguable that only 2-3 are playing their best position. Silvestre is naturally a CB (i assume), Almunia(i hope) and Clichy. Denilson aint a DM, Cesc has to change his game to play with Denilson and suffers because of it.

We dont know Nasris best position yet. Wenger is trying to make RvP a link-man-which he isnt. Eboue is a gowl who has no best position anymore and Ade is just a cunt who couldnt score in the red-light destrict in Bangkok. (no offence to people from Bangkok tho.)

  89. patthegooner Says:

Who the fuck is actually playing RB?

  90. patthegooner Says:

Well Done Song, completely out of position

How about actually playing Eboue a RB at RB. can we now please sack SONG

  91. finestcuts Says:

    10 mins in and we\re 1-0 down….Silvestre and Song, bloody hell…

  92. patthegooner Says:

And again, he is not even in the picture, fuck sake Wenger get that cunt off the field before he does any more damage

  93. Evo in Oz Says:

    fuck it all

  94. Confidentgoner Says:

Arsenal one goal down! Shity defence, shity goalkeeping

  95. Stu Says:

I used to think it was a bit crazy calling for Wengers head but if he keps picking shit teams like this I might just jump aboard.

  96. patthegooner Says:

Someone please tell me that Wenger is not going to leave Song on the pitch until the usual 70 min, just conceded an un-needed corner,

  97. SIMON MCAHON Says:

FUCKING HELL WENGER ,BRILLIANT 1-0 DOWN ALREADY ,
    team selection justified eh boss!!!!!!!
You are making us into a laughing stock ,
    SONG IS SHIT!!!!!!!
    EBUSLESS IS SHIT !!!!!!!
STOP THESE RIDICULOUS EXPERIMENTS, you are making us second rate ,1-0 down against a team who have never beaten us in over 14 attempts at our ground.
This will get messy today if we dont win!!!!!!!!

  98. patthegooner Says:

I still think we will win this Stu, but I know what you mean.

I cant believe I am saying it, but more and more now, when the camera pans to Wenger my face contorts with anger and I shout fuck off Wenger at the screen

oh and RVP should have buried that

  99. patthegooner Says:

For fuck sake, we are lucky that was not two

We have no shape whatsoever, this is embarrasing

  100. Stu Says:

Vela would have scored that. No doubt. Has Van Persie lost his touch???

  101. goonermichael Says:

all i’ve got is ther bbc live text and it looks like we are shit

  102. Evo in Oz Says:

RVP didnt even look where he was striking that ball. that was a sitter!

  103. patthegooner Says:

Arsenal are the football equivalent of the credit crunch ravaged FTSE 100

  104. Stu Says:

Fuck how i miss the days of the Famous5. They would never have let us concede to Everton. God fucking help us when we play the top3 teams.

  105. goonermichael Says:

please bring back the international break

  106. Stu Says:

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT???? ABOUT 3PLAYERS MISSED A SITTER!!!!!!

ADE is a fuckin retard. I defo hope he dies(in terms of his arsenal ties)

  107. Evo in Oz Says:

fuck off with this bullshit. just head the ball into the goal

  108. Evo in Oz Says:

fuck off again. fuck off, fuck it all. bullshit. bury the ball RVP

  109. patthegooner Says:

Fuck sake, TT and RVP should be dropped, neither are in form

  110. Confidentgoner Says:

Someone tell me why bRVP cannot hit the target ? And yet he is the golden boy!

  111. truegooner Says:

    atleast wigan lead against scousers………..
some good news during these dark times………….

  112. arsenal tom Says:

we look shit… no fucking bottle!!!

    bye bye cesc

  113. Rasputin Says:

We can’t defend. Sylvestre is our best player. Eboue, Denilson off-side-Ade are all a pile of shit. The biggest pile of excrement is our manager who will leave it too late to make subs. Would have been a good idean if he’d started with our best eleven. At the moment Everton look most likely to score next.

  114. SIMON MCAHON Says:

TODAY IS WENGERS LEGACY OF OUR SEASON ,
ALL BULLSHIT AND PROMISES WITH NO DELIVERANCE.!
if we loose this match we will no doubt hear the wenger speak that the players were tired after the internationals ,blah, blah,
MEMO TO Wenger THE CHAVS HAVE WON 5-0 AWAY FROM HOME ,
That tells the story about there squad and ours doesent it!!!

  115. Evo in Oz Says:

it should be 2-1 or 3-1 at least

  116. patthegooner Says:

    TT Booked quite rightly

Clichy is having a good game

  117. Rasputin Says:

Pathetic attempt to win a penalty by Ade – why doesn’t he just stay onside and have a decent shot on goal.

  118. arsenal tom Says:

we look liek the team that scraped 4th 2 years ago

  119. rico01 Says:

This is just dreadful guys, just dreadful :(

Afternoon by the way, but not a good one thus far

  120. Evo in Oz Says:

clichy BOG by a country mile so far

  121. patthegooner Says:

    Should have been two

  122. Confidentgoner Says:

AW is the problem of thi side. His judgements are scary. he cannot choose a team anymore

  123. truegooner Says:

sub van persie , TT ……
    wtf is happening from corners……..

  124. Confidentgoner Says:

Someone said Toure cannot hold the ball?

  125. rico01 Says:

theo needs come on real soon, as does vela, we lack width

  126. Evo in Oz Says:

half time sub. song off. eboue to RB and walcott on

  127. rico01 Says:

every time, so bloomin close, yet so far – we are going to get a grip second half and win 3/4 – 1 – come on gooners

  128. truegooner Says:

    wtf is happening guys???????????????

  129. rico01 Says:

Evo – good call, Ramsey for Denilson too

  130. rico01 Says:

    wigan 2-1 up against ‘Pool

  131. choy Says:

    fuck!

  132. choy Says:

    sell TT and get zaki

  133. Rasputin Says:

He won’t sub anyone at half time. Every manager in the Prem knows that they are safe from decisive arsenal subs. As usual we don’t have a plan B. This is the worst group of players we’ve had for more than 10 years. We backed off to invite the goal. This time there wasn’t a ‘wonder strike’ but there were 3 Everton players in the box ready for the tap-in. We are too pompous to go fro a near post tap-in.

  134. Evo in Oz Says:

    utter poo that half was

  135. patthegooner Says:

He wont do it as it is not the 70th minute but for me, There should be 3 subs at half time

Theo for Song, Eboue to RB

    Diaby for Denilson

Vela for either of RVP or TT as they are both cunts today

Two of those should have been made when he put the team sheet in!!!!!

Rightly booed off the field, and something needs to change at our football club very quickly. I know the game is not over but we should not be putting ourselves in these positions every week, enough is enough and the lack of activity in the transfer market is blatently fucking obvious today. the Likes of Song, Denilson and Eboue should not be regularly starting games for a supposed top four premiership club. I know Wenger has done a lot for us but this is clear incompetence and even the most rose tinted of AKB individuals must surely realise that.

    Awful just Awful.

The sheer fact that Song a Shit CM an Average CB has now added a fucking wank RB to his CV just shows Wengers ridiculous tactics in persisting in playing his favs really pisses me off.

  136. Stu Says:

Whos on te bench? And what happened Kolo??

  137. BOY BETTER KNOW Says:

wenger is a cunt song right back is a joke the top two are shit wenger is so cheap get the cunt out now we are in free fall cause of him

  138. Confidentgoner Says:

We have to wings. Our passing is lousy. The best we can get out of this game is a draw. If we are lucky, we may scrape a win.

Guys, review my posts. I have always said that our manager makes too many mistakes.

    Lets look at his formation:

    -Almunia——————–

    Toure——-Song————-Silvestre———-Clichy

    Eboue—-Fabregas————–Denilson——–Nasri

    ———————————RVP—————–

    ————–Adebayor——

  139. Rob From Aus Says:

That was a fucking disgraceful half, Why the fuck did we keep Ade? he is so overrated and shit! SONG IS SHIT! i cant believe we pay money to watch this utter fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  140. choy Says:

why the fuck is song at RB?>?!?!? has he even played there in his dreams???

is eboue playing the no.10 role?

  141. truegooner Says:

    half time…………………
lets hope wenger gets the subs done now instead of 70th min……….

  142. ethangunner Says:

    ADE is a LEGEND !

  143. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

Denilson just slowed up & watched his Osman score. Denilson is not up to it.

  144. Michael Says:

I dont blame players like Eboue, Denilson, Song etc, its not their fault there not good enough, the blame lies squarely on the managers shoulders. If we lose this game it will be a catastrophe in footballing terms, and to think we still have to play chelsea, man utd, liverpool etc.

  145. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

Defensively Arsenal are average. Its obvious, & when they aren’t going in up front, it becomes more glaring. But we all know that, apart from AW.

  146. Evo in Oz Says:

if they wanted to play song so badly it should have been as CB and silvestre as RB.

  147. Rob From Aus Says:

i wonder tho what the excuses will be from AW? “Its not the age”, “I didnt see the game”, “Its the refs Fault”, oh give it up u cunt! admit its your fault you stupid fuck!

  148. Evo in Oz Says:

if toures shoulder is fucked we only have gavin hoyte

  149. finestcuts Says:

Our defence is screwed, another half of this and we’ll lose, either we turn this around or we’re chasing Chelsea with a 7 point handicap…., a depleted Chelsea side with verve and depth. 45 minutes to get 3 points, and now our worst suspicions are confirmed, we have a massive problem in defence. Massive, it’ll probably be too late in Jan.

  150. Rasputin Says:

Song off, Eboue to right back, Vela on to replace Eboue in midfield, may as well try replacing Denilson with Diaby – we’ve always got Ramsey if he breaks down. Got to leave that uter pile of shit Ade on the field for the time being. Even if we win – this is the real Arsenal under Wenger we have been watching and it is destined for failure at all levels.

  151. Evo in Oz Says:

    Substitutes

    * 21 Fabianski,
    * 02 Diaby,
    * 12 Vela,
    * 14 Walcott,
    * 16 Ramsey,
    * 40 Gibbs,
    * 41 Hoyte

  152. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Evo

The only song playing today is fuck’n Z cars

  153. choy Says:

silvestre has been the best player till now! some positives!

  154. choy Says:

we should have let TT go

  155. patthegooner Says:

This is the lowest point to date of Wengers time of his time at Arsenal

To think he says that this is the best group of players he has had, is a fucking disgraceful insult to the players that made up the two double winning teams and the invincibles,

This is the biggest 1/2 time team talk in his Arsenal Career.

Oh and anyone see Zaki’s goal at Liverpool, fucking brilliant.

Gone are the days of us expecting similar from our strikers. RVP and TT dont even look interested, time for Vela me thinks

  156. Evo in Oz Says:

    clichy best on ground easily

  157. Paulinho Says:

It’s Gallas’s fault. I mean what was he thinking eating porridge this morning.

Hopefully Arsenal fans, and pricks like Arseblog, can put to bed the theory that Gallas is the reason for our troubles. He didn’t seem to have much trouble last year did he, when we had a decent side? Maybe it’s time to look at the team and manager instead.

  158. patthegooner Says:

Infact scrub Diaby, get Ramsey on for Denilson.

And put the toilet cleaner on for Song, I am sure he will be a better RB

  159. andy c Says:

    anybody got a link?

  160. Confidentgoner Says:

We have to wings. Our passing is lousy. The best we can get out of this game is a draw. If we are lucky, we may scrape a win.

Guys, review my posts. I have always said that our manager makes too many mistakes.

    Lets look at his formation:

    Almunia

    Song Toure Silvestre Clichy

    Eboue—-Fabregas Denilson Nasri
    Ade RVP

The guys are lacking a leader and confidence and Everton will predictably pack the bus. What do we do? Toure looks injured. It is crucial we have him as the others are not fit. We should warn Dennilson about going foward too much as it makes our midfield very fickle. We should try not to panic but to keep the ball at the midfield and pass on to attackers who should be moving. We should consider Ramsey or Jack to come in for Nasri or Cesc.

    Almunia

    Eboue (Song) Toure Silvestre Clichy
    .
    Theo—-Fabregas Denilson Nasri

    Ade(Vela) RVP

  161. Ray Gooner Says:

this season is looking more and more like the 2005/2006 season…
if it ends the same as well (with Arsenal reaching the CL-final and losing) i will kill myself…

  162. truegooner Says:

wait till u guys see carlos vela coming on at 89th min with we a goal down………….i’ll fucking tear myself……………………..

  163. Confidentgoner Says:

I meant … we have no wings.

  164. ethangunner Says:

    our defense isnt screwed ..
we are 1 down .. and should be 3 up !
clinical finishing sadly lacks in this team !

the off sides .. the way-ward passing in the final 3rd
the lack of clinical finishing !

sub’s needed to be made and when theo was warming up i thought wenger had a light bulb moment !
    sadly it didnt eventuate

  165. Stu Says:

    Thanks Evo.

Vela on for Ade(i suppose), Walcott on for Toure(coz he is injured) andRambo or Diaby for Denilson

  166. georgiaan-gunner Says:

amr zaki had score 7 goal in as many matches!

  167. arsenal tom Says:

fucking hell… straight away they open us up!!!

  168. Evo in Oz Says:

we need to hurry up and score a couple of goals before our defence fucks up anymore

  169. Evo in Oz Says:

    thank fuck

  170. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

    NASRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

  171. Evo in Oz Says:

  172. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    thank christ for nasri

  173. Stu Says:

  174. georgiaan-gunner Says:

nasriiiiiiiiiiiiiiii i love youuuuu!!! fuck fuck fuck hleb look this guy is much better than you, guys i am really happppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  175. arsenal tom Says:

  176. Evo in Oz Says:

  177. trindle Says:

Does he remind you of Hleb?

    No he fuckin doesn’t!

  178. Confidentgoner Says:

Confidence back, well done Nasri. we should keep possesion now and nail Everton

  179. Evo in Oz Says:

    georgiaan – are you happy?

  180. truegooner Says:

    woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  181. truegooner Says:

i wonder who hleb would have passed to there…………?????????

  182. Evo in Oz Says:

nasri’s got the shooting boots on

  183. Evo in Oz Says:

put the ball in the net RVP you cunting bastard

  184. Rasputin Says:

We’re pissing about in the box again – just kick the fucker at the goal Ade you complete pile of shit – Nasri style

  185. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

RVP couldn’t hit the side of a barn

  186. Evo in Oz Says:

    fucking oath gnarls

  187. rico01 Says:

that is a great pass by eboue – RvP shooting boots……….. Change them Robin

  188. Rasputin Says:

I agree, Sylvester has been very impressive

  189. Evo in Oz Says:

i can see walcott scoring for sure.

    vela on for rVP

  190. goonermichael Says:

it’s starting to look better on the bbc live text. Who said the other day we really miss hleb?

  191. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

    What the fuck was that?

  192. Evo in Oz Says:

fucking cunts that was a pen

  193. Stu Says:

The referees a wanker. Definately a pen!!

  194. Evo in Oz Says:

    red

  195. arsenal tom Says:

tony hibbery has to go for that… grabbing clichy by his shirt… thats raising your hands aint it?? the cunt

  196. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

    That deserved a fucking RED

  197. Evo in Oz Says:

that was eduardo all over again. how can that not be 1 yellow at the minimum for the bad tackle and another yellow for grabbing clichy;s neck?

  198. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

Yellow for the tackle, no yellow for grabbing clichy?

  199. Stu Says:

Thats viloent conduct by Hibbert, a defo red.

  200. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

    Walcott knocked out

  201. rico01 Says:

Red card for me, but that aside, we are missing sitters, time for Theo, Vela and Ramsey IMHO!!

  202. Evo in Oz Says:

fucking red all the way. he up ended denilson from behind. no way to win the ball from there

  203. rico01 Says:

woops – theo is on, bloody link :)

  204. Stu Says:

Theo Walcott looks to have fallen on conscience(spelling?) so Adebayor decides to start pulling at his neck. Great idea you fuckin twat.

  205. Evo in Oz Says:

have you guys noticed that song keeps playing midfield and forgets he’s meant to be back with silvestre

  206. Evo in Oz Says:

    eboue special there

  207. Evo in Oz Says:

    clichy is fucking awesome.

everton are hanging by a thread now.

we need to take this game and fuck them off

  208. rico01 Says:

we dont miss galls then, we are still dodgy without him :)

  209. patthegooner Says:

    Clichy has been brilliant

second half is better, amazing what happens when you actually play people in their proper positions

  210. Evo in Oz Says:

    yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  211. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

    RVPP

  212. Stu Says:

    RRRVVVVVVVVVPPPPPPPPP LOVELY C’MON

  213. rico01 Says:

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  214. Evo in Oz Says:

clichy has said fuck you cunts im taking over this game by myself and running the ball everywhere

  215. patthegooner Says:

    Get In

Thought TT had fucked it all up for a min then

  216. finestcuts Says:

    Yes!!!!!!!

  217. Evo in Oz Says:

    heineken i love you

  218. Stu Says:

What the fuck is going on????

A goal from OUTSIDE the box and a HEADER????? Who the fuck is doing this.

  219. truegooner Says:

    salvation at last………

  220. patthegooner Says:

Now dont sit on it you fuckers, score more goals!!!

  221. Evo in Oz Says:

we should buy that Fellaini – he’s pretty good

  222. Stu Says:

Clichy for El Capitano?? Why not like, hes been our best player since HT.

  223. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

Who is Captain by the way, didn’t notice with Toure off

  224. patthegooner Says:

    Knowing Wenger Song is Captain.

  225. Evo in Oz Says:

i think it might be clichy?

  226. Evo in Oz Says:

    no its not him either

  227. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

    Hope Nasri’s injury isn’t bad

  228. Evo in Oz Says:

same, i didnt look super bad, but it didnt look too good either

  229. Stu Says:

    Looked like hamstring

  230. truegooner Says:

    fabregas is el capitan……….

  231. rico01 Says:

TT – offside, offside, offside !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  232. rico01 Says:

    Nasri – precaution, I Hope :)

  233. patthegooner Says:

    Diaby for Nasri

WTF, I would have gone like for like, I hate it when we get defensive in last ten mins, we usually concede

  234. truegooner Says:

    fabregas is el capitan……….
seems nasri injured…….why the fuck does this happens to us???????????

  235. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

Anytime an Arsenal player is on the ground you have to worry they miss a few months

  236. Stu Says:

I hate liver-fucking-fool. They get soooo much fucking luck when playing in front of the Kop. Must be cheating

  237. patthegooner Says:

I am going to rename Diaby ‘one-foot’

Nothing like playing someone LW who lives in the belief that his left foot will drop off if it touches a football.

  238. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

Patthegooner, who else to we have to sub nasri for? I think before nasri got injured Diaby was ready to come on for Denilson

  239. patthegooner Says:

i would have brought Vela on

  240. truegooner Says:

    scousers come from behind again……..
an opponent wrongfully red carded again……..
some people have all the luck in the world……….!!!!!!!!!!

  241. Ray Gooner Says:

Eduardo, Rosicky, Djourou, Gallas, Sagna, Bendtner, Touré, Nasri….
    What the HELL!!!
    It’s almost a whole team…

  242. rico01 Says:

    who is skipper today??

  243. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

Rico, it was Kolo, now Cesc we think

  244. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

    THEO !

  245. Evo in Oz Says:

told you all he would score

  246. rico01 Says:

    THEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  247. patthegooner Says:

    Get in Theo

  248. Evo in Oz Says:

clichy best on ground by a country mile

  249. Stu Says:

At least we are top of a table. We now have the most 1st teamers injured. Suck on that Chelsea.

Oh and great goal Theo. Diaby already getting an assist. woooooo!!!!!

  250. patthegooner Says:

Not quite sure wtf Diaby was doing over there, but that is why if he is going to play he should be playing where he can do some damage with his only foot

  251. rico01 Says:

    Thanks Tinidad

  252. Evo in Oz Says:

by the way Kanu Jnr’s touch has improved IMHO

  253. finestcuts Says:

    What a turnaround, superb, 3-1!

  254. rico01 Says:

    SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  255. Trinidad_Gunner Says:

Eboue did a good job at RB … and should be automatic is Sagna is out. WTF did Song do there in the first 45 ?

  256. choy Says:

    pheww.. that was something!!

  257. rico01 Says:

Good win, but could and maybe should have been much better, but, lots of changes, and I will sleep happy – just for today :)

    Be safe all

  258. Evo in Oz Says:

im trying to like Song – i truely am, but wtf is his position?

    he must be CB?

  259. truegooner Says:

    i am breathing properly now…………

  260. Stu Says:

How many times was Ade offside? More than 10?? He is so shit, i cant believe he ever gets a game. I HATE HIM!!

  261. Evo in Oz Says:

geoff and pedro and the lads would have been off their guts when Nasri put that one away!

fuck the crowd went up when it buldged in the back of the net!

  262. truegooner Says:

Signing off hoping for a manscum lose at old trafford
    night night guys……….

  263. patthegooner Says:

Well of course I am happy with the result, but these stupid experiments have to stop. No more playing players like Song in the RB position when it was obvious within mins that he could not have been more out of his depth.

Trinidad, completely agree, if Sagna is out, Eboue has to start there.

If you are going to fuck around with a position it is a lot safer to do it in MF or upfront.

2nd half was a lot better once Eboue went back there, and we got better as the half went on.

Still wish we had seen Ramsey and Vela but you can’t have everything.

Tricky derby at West Ham next week, hope some of the injured are back in contention and that Song can go and do some early christmas shopping

  264. Evo in Oz Says:

how funny were the Everton defenders trying to call for offside for Diaby when he cut the ball back for Theo.

he was at least 1.5 metres onside

  265. finestcuts Says:

Heh, I was almost right, 3-0 was my prediction.

  266. patthegooner Says:

oh and Ade is out of my dream team, it is the only way he will start scoring again. a shot on target would be a start. I would drop him in current form and get Vela in.

  267. Evo in Oz Says:

yeah finest i said the same

  268. Evo in Oz Says:

    fenerbache game

    Almunia
    Eboue-Silvestre-Song-Clichy
    Walcott-Cesc-Denilson-Diaby
    RVP-Kanu

  269. Mandanda Says:

MOM – Clichy, he’s got to be our next captain

Fab played ok but still has to adapt to the new midfield players

    Well done Theo

  270. Rasputin Says:

At last, AW made early changes (and they worked); Sylvestre looked like a proper defender and won all his headers; Nasri is a star; Great save by Almunia when we could have been 2 down;Theo is great coming on with half an hour to go; Diaby looked good particularly going forward.

Ade, Denilson, Song, and Eboue not good enough.

  271. Rasputin Says:

    Forgot Clichy – outstanding

  272. choy Says:

did anyone like silvestre’s performance? he was good!

  273. choy Says:

rasp.. wenger made changes.. coz he had too!!! toure was injured!

  274. Mandanda Says:

What is worrying is that we seem to need a two goal advantage in matches to look confident/convincing in matches.

  275. Evo in Oz Says:

we’re not the only ones with shoddy defender.

big fuck ups for liverpool in the highlights

  276. Rasputin Says:

Don’t spoil my delusion choy, I know you’re right. The commentators were praising AW for his substitutions – we all knw the stubborn SOB wouldn’t have done it otherwise

  277. Evo in Oz Says:

choy – i didnt mind it to be honest. i think his presence gives you confidence, he should definitely play against the turks. probably no one else to choose anyway, but he needed the run

  278. terry Says:

some turn around we looked shit in the first half. I wonder if Toure had`nt got injured in the first half would he have made the changes that needed to be made or wait for the to make them in the last 10 minutes

  279. avenell Says:

People have been saying Almunia never makes match winning saves, the one after HT kept us in the game.

I don’t think were going to have too many fit players for the next couple of games. It’s going to be a struggle at the back..

  280. Rohan Says:

    well silvestre looked good.
how about a yoyo20 + silvestre cb partnership???

  281. Stu Says:

Is anyone that was injured for today going to be fit for the fernebache game??? Hope JD, Vela and Nik start. even fabianski

  282. Evo in Oz Says:

    Clichy brained them.

clearance off the line which would have been their 2nd goal. marauded down the wings and even went down the middle a lot and even over to the right.

    brilliant

  283. avenell Says:

Someone on here last week said Clichy isn’t any good going forward!!

  284. Rohan Says:

we should be giving almunia more credit. there arent any goalkeepers in theo country on current form better than him

  285. Evo in Oz Says:

Song isnt a lateral player – he is straight up and down the pitch, not side to side.

he was way better bringing the ball out of defence from the CB position.

  286. Mandanda Says:

Silvestre was good – when he had to hoof up he did without compromise – but to be honest he wasn’t really tested today with everton playing with just one upfront, our defenders mostly outnumbered theirs 2/3 : 1 on several occassions.

  287. Evo in Oz Says:

avenell – who the fuck was that?

  288. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

Great result  Great to see Diaby back

  289. Stu Says:

    Clichy should be captain.

  290. avenell Says:

Cannot remember Evo but they wanted Silvestre at LB ..

  291. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Diaby in Denilson out

And I’m out. Enjoy your evening beers ladies & gents.

  292. Rohan Says:

he was solid in the air — something we seem to be sorely lacking at the moment

  293. patthegooner Says:

    Silvestre at LB

Personally I think Clichy is best LB in Premiership and one of the best in World

  294. choy Says:

so nasri scores one goal.. a very important one.. is he going to be out for long?

  295. Evo in Oz Says:

no way for Clichy to be dislodged from LB. impossible

  296. terry Says:

It was a bit worrying when Theo fainted hope he will be ok and have no side effects

  297. Keyser Says:

Evo in Oz – Good call on Song, he looked good going forward our of defence and it kept them from getting anywhere near our 18 yard box aswell.

Clichy is a fucking monster, he lost the ball to fellaini and must’ve made 20 yards on him dawdling, Nasri had a good game aswell, hopefully he isn’t injured and we can build on it.

  298. Evo in Oz Says:

yeah it was a bad knock. couldnt believe he got back into the game. usually head knocks fuck you up big time

  299. avenell Says:

EVO… it was someone calling themselves ezra 9.43 on 13th Oct….

  300. Evo in Oz Says:

ill watch out for that wombat then next time he is on.

    come on the baggies!

  301. goonermichael Says:

I’m still working, haven’t seen anything. In a nutshell who was good, bad otr ugly?

  302. goonermichael Says:

btw spuds are still bottom. Just thought I’d get that in

  303. terry Says:

cant wait to see stoke spank the spuds tomorrow

  304. kingsley Says:

any links to the goals guys?

  305. Confidentgoner Says:

That is the type of position that suits Song. A DM role, which he played rather than a pure CH role he was supposed to play. In a way, it is not bad to have one of the CH joining our midfield and available for our defense. This compensates for the excessive attacking flair of the incumbent DM- Dennilson.

Clchy is my MOTM and he deserves to be captain. He turned the game on its head with theo. He is a Leader. What does AW take from this game?

    Positives

+Theo provided an outlet and stretched the Everton defense. Nice to see him scoring.
+ Sylvestre showed he can replace Gallas or Toure in the backline. His only mistake : He did not come out of the six yard box to attack the attacker who scored the goal for Everton.
+Ade proved that he can link up with other strikers, but his offside makes me sick. Some of the calls were also dodgy.
    +Clichy solid as a ROCK!

    Negatives
    - We still need to organize defense for corners and set pieces. We did better but we can still do a lot more.

-AW should sit Dennilson down and explain to him his role. He sometimes is ahead of Cesc, leaving Cesc to defend for him. We know Cesc is better at creating. I still believe Dennilson is our man.

    - Alumina allowed this goal, probably because Sylvest blocked his view, but he allows himself to be blocked when it comes to corners. When you come out to parry a corner as a goal keeper you make dam sure you get the ball. Clichy saved this game by his blocking and goal line clearance.

    - Cesc was not at his best going forward. The International Week? Or is it Dennilson?

    - How many chances does RVP need to score? I will choose Vela or Bendtner to partner Ade. I am sure if it were Ade missing those sitters Grovers will call for his head.

It would be interesting to pair Diaby in midfield in place of Dennilson to assess him. I hope it is not a costly experiment. he keeps the ball well, so my instinct is to alternate him with Walcot or with cesc.

Playing Vela as a striker instead of Ade for 10mins would have been OK

  306. Evo in Oz Says:

Goonermichael – Almunia, Clichy, – awesome!

    Toure good till injured
Song crap at RB – good at CB.
Silvestre – pretty good first game, not massive amounts to do, but still good
Eboue – not bad actually. good in both the wing and RB
Cesc – super slow start but wound himself up after half time and took over
Denilson – unassuming as always – quiet start, but linked up well with cesc in the 2nd half
Nasri – great game. great strike, very tricky ball play and moved the ball well
Walcott – threw a cat amongst the pigeons as per usual after subbing on at half time. too much pace and trickery for everton. great strike and superb finish for his goal
Kanu jnr – his touch has definitely improved and looked like he would score a header in the first half when we were playing the long balls. still offside but not as much as usual
RVP – cunt of a game. had shitloads of the ball and shiteloads of chances to bury the game and blasted every ball miles over the net. Good header to finish, but expect more from a usually good finisher. his radar hasnt returned since last season or the season before yet!
    Diaby – 7 minutes – good assist.

  307. Confidentgoner Says:

Evo, I disagree on Alumina, other than that we are in sync.

    did nasri play well?

  310. Evo in Oz Says:

fair enough bro. i do agree he bumped into the back of an everton player coming out from that corner and clichy cleared, but that was the only fuck up. he made some good saves on the yak and others to keep us in it. his distribution is 1st class

  311. Evo in Oz Says:

yep nasri had a good one for sure

  312. BOY BETTER KNOW Says:

kolo has suffered ligament damage in his shoulder nasri thigh not good news

  313. kingsley Says:

all i have to go on is talk sport and they just chat about random things throughout the game. winning today was so important that performances are kinda secondary for me. still glad to hear the positives, thanks guys. we just need a vet in the centre of the park and we are good to go.

    Almunia became captain

Clichy immense(I said 2 weeks ago he is our future captain)

Toure torn ligaments in his shoulder. out indefinately

    nasri, hope he is okay.

Is Ade the cunt a striker or what and tell RVP not too slash every ball from 10 yards out as if it was 40.Both are under par.Adebayor’s game has gone from bad to worse, and the trouble is we are running out of players.

  317. Doublegooner Says:

Wenger got lucky today. He’s really trying my patience bigtime.

Every time I looked at him in the 1st half his head was in his hands.

WTF did he expect with his mickey mouse team selections Wouldnt have been suprised to see Theo tried at CH.

  318. Evo in Oz Says:

i reckon pedro and geoff would be smashing down the peronis right about now

  319. Doublegooner Says:

    Kelsey:

Youre right. I called it Le Cliche would be my captain last year.

Looks like we,ve lost the £30m we;d have got for that useless lanky cunt

  320. Wrighty7 Says:

The three points is a huge boost and a welcome one at that. When we went a goal behind and missed our usual 467 chances I had a horrible feeling it was going to be one of those days.

Alas for the Toffees it wasn’t meant to be, they ended up well and truly chewed up and then spat out. It could have been a “sticky” situation for Arsenal had we not taken the three points today.

We weren’t at our best in the first half but had the better chances to score. The Everton goal was poor defensively from Arsenal’s point of view, who was tracking Leon Osman’s run from the midfield?

Arsenal had an early scare in the second half but other than that we were immense in the second period. Le Boss must have had some stern words at the interval because the players came out like they had rockets up their arses!

One reason for this was due to the introduction of Theo Walcott, his pace and movement stretched a disciplined Everton side. I also couldn’t understand why Eboue didn’t start at right-back, Song is never a full-back and it was proved today.

Le-Boss does make some strange selection choices at times but the change at half-time was spot on. I do wonder though if Arsene would have actually made the change had it not been forced on him by Kolo Toure’s injury? He isn’t known for making changes at half-time and can sometimes leave substitutions a little too late meaning the sub hasn’t enough time to make an impact.

My main gripe today though is why do we seem to start games at such a lethargic pace? I’ve seen snails move faster and Adebayor is the prime suspect. Look at the damage we did to Everton in the second half, we had too much for them. If we started games like that we could have the points in the bag at half-time. Why do we only seem to get going when we go a goal behind?

  321. kelsey Says:

Didn’t clichy look like a leader once we equalised,he was driving the team.

it’s hard supporting this club, you never know which team will turn up.have you guys noticed since our move ,we have conceded first at home.so so often.

You guys should have put money on it, I did!!! whooo hoooo!!!

  323. kingsley Says:

i agree at highbury we used to star at 100 mph.

  324. Doublegooner Says:

    Wrighty:

You said it. Wengers starting decisions were ridiculous. If he hadnt been forced to make the changes at HT how muc different would it have been ?

We have 2 forwards who miss too many.

Lets hope Eduardo can get back to what he looked like he would become, cos we sure as hell need him.

  325. Wrighty7 Says:

I cant get my head round Wengers decisions sometimes. If a player is a right back, play him there! Don’t try to convert him into a midfielder!

  326. Evo in Oz Says:

yeah no way theo would have come on at half time if there was no injury thats the fucked part about that

  327. kingsley Says:

when eboue was at right back in the season we got to champ final wenger compared him to girincha! now he wont even use him as back up right back. the desicion was wrong….and worrying

  328. Keyser Says:

We conceded first at Highbury plenty of times, we used to get ourselves out of it though, we used to go in 3-1 at ha;f time against teams Like Middlesborough and come back from it.

  329. kelsey Says:

wrighty wenger has said in the past he likes his players to be able to play in different positions, maybe he thinks it’s basketball, but what he means is that he wont spend and instead of replacing players like for like this is his way of doing things(now)

how can a team be so lethargic in the first half and yet totally dominate in the second,we could have had 6,but neither of our strikers are up to scratch. if we have to go one down every time to get a reaction we are playing a dangerous game, aren’t we.

  330. Doublegooner Says:

After watching the 1st half, no wonder Cesc is having second thoughts. If Wenger don;t make the required quality additions then I’ll be off to Barca with Cesc too !

  331. Wrighty7 Says:

Is Arsene Wenger the new Tinkerman????

Might use that as an article for my blog!!!

thank fuck wenger brought on theo ..
when will he get it thru his skull to play his best 11 ..

he was thinking of the C.L again and almost got us in the shite !
he is worried about his own personal conquests and not what our team
if theo didnt score in the 90th minute it would have been the 1 goal ahead score line
    i predicted !

    he deserved the goal !
    he deserves the glory !
nasri – theo – clichy you are legends !

  333. Keyser Says:

Can anyone think of a reason why Wenger may leave a few minutes after the break before substitutions ?!

  334. Evo in Oz Says:

baggies have done well to be 0-0 at half time

  335. Wrighty7 Says:

Too right Kelsey and in my eyes thats a real shame……

  336. Doublegooner Says:

This is the most inbalanced & ill equipped midfield since the early 90’s.

  337. Keyser Says:

Kelsey – We don’t play a pressing game, it’s not about individuals but on passing and out manoevuring your opponent, if we go hell for leather in the first half we’d tire in the second, same with substitutions, if Theo’s on the bench it means we at least have something in reserve and considering the pace he travels at he probably needed some sort of rest.

  338. kelsey Says:

keyser, you know very well what i mean.the boro game was a one off in the middle of our unbeaten run.I am not comparing 20+ years at highbury to now.We have come from the odd goal down at home numerous times in the last 3 seasons.

  339. avenell Says:

There showing highlights of all the games on..

    http://www.justin.tv/hottdubber3

  340. Keyser Says:

Come on we’re not the team that used to win the league having scored only 50 odd goals, conceding less than 20, we concede because we’re one of the most attacking teams in the world and every teams gets caught out from time to time, we’re not at our best and sometimes you need some luck to go your way to get the momentum together.

  341. Evo in Oz Says:

off to bed all. 4.30am here. catch you all in a few hours

  343. choy Says:

rvp and adebayor are becoming similar players.. both of them need at least 5-6 to score 1!!!

  344. Matt Says:

    Classic.

I just got home from the game and thought it would be funny to read what had been going on on here, and i was right.

Without a doubt the first half was very poor, and the second was very good, but the majority on here need to get a grip.

From ‘total shit’, ‘i am going to kill myself’, ‘wenger is a cunt’ blah, blah, blah in the first half to ‘awesome’ ‘we are the bollocks’ etc.in the second.

Some of you guys need to calm the fuck down.

  345. kelsey Says:

hi choy, you are right i think half the time they get in each others way, sort of you have it,no you have it and at the end they fuck it up,i am more concerned about further injuries with toure out and nasri didn’t look too good when he came off.

  346. choy Says:

matt.. we can’t!! we really don’t know what to expect with arsenal these days!!!!

  347. choy Says:

hello kelsey.. unfortunately we don’t have a squad like the scum

  348. kingsley Says:

doublegooner…. i agree. we all try and be positive but deep down the truth is right in front of our eyes. since when did we accept such mediarocricy?……….. our ‘centre midfieled’ simlpy doesnt compare to the other top 3 teams. not in terms of starting 11 and even less so in squad!

  349. kingsley Says:

matt by that post if you think this team is good enough then you dont know your football.

  350. Matt Says:

    Kelsey,

You should read it before you make comments like that.

I have said on many occasions i don’t think we are good enough to win the league, and i still don’t.

Chelsea are clearly a more effective squad than us.

My point was – the same people who are doom and gloom during the first half, are then creaming themselves about the second.

I support my team through thick and thin, and whilst i accept that we are probably not good enough to win the league, i will still go to the games and support my team, not wee my pants and start crying when things are not going well.

So before you have a pop, read properly what i said.

  351. Keyser Says:

Such mediocrisy ? Was there ever a level or guarantee of expectation ?!

That wasn’t our first team, we seem to have half our squad out and we came back from a goal down to win 3-1, I know there are worries, but we’ve lost and drawn games that we supposedly shouldn’t have did you see the right response today ?!

  352. goonermichael Says:

    Thanks evo. just finished work

  353. Matt Says:

    Man U 1-0 – game over

  354. kingsley Says:

fair enough matt, i havent read your comments on here before….im kingsley not kelsey by the way.

  355. Matt Says:

    Apologies…..

Anyway – off down the pub – cant stomach anymore of Man U.

  356. yiiuyi Says:

With the pressure on amid poor results in the past weeks, Arsenal were very much up against it today, but despite trailing at half-time, the Gunners raided Everton for a 3-1 comeback victory.
Injuries to several of the back four’s causalities meant Mikael Silvestre and Alex Song filled in for Gallas and Sagna. Walcott was rested so Eboue and Nasri foiled Fabregas and Denilson in midfield.
Contrary to the usual Arsenal, they picked up from where they left off with their sluggishness at Sunderland as Everton looked expert at creating an uncomfortable atmosphere at the Emirates during the opening minutes. And it was not much of a shock when Leon Osman started and finished a move that caught Arsenal careless. The English midfielder had set up Steven Pienaar on the left and the South African cut the ball lowly for Osman to guide it home with Song, Silvestre, Clichy and Almunia all stranded.
As usual, Arsenal made a deceiving response to the concession of that goal after just 8 minutes when Van Persie beat Lescott but saw his shot denied by Howard. With Arsenal’s opponents very well organized to stop them these days, Everton weren’t any different, and so the Gunners relied on Fabregas’ long balls which either caught an off side Adebayor or a bullied Van Persie.
Arsenal’s task to bounce back would have been deemed impossible had Clichy not been guarding the goal line to deny Lescott’s header which had beaten Almunia well enough. Wenger’s men later went into the half-time only fancying a draw at most on the evidence of their last two league games.
Kolo Toure – the skipper for the day – was replaced for the second-half due to a shoulder problem while Theo Walcott was introduced. But quick moments after the restart, Arsenal really rode LUCK. Yakubu had shrugged off clumsy defending by Song to meet Almunia one-on-one, but Arsena’s stopper was fortunately strong enough to disallow an embarrassing 0-2 deficit at home, and potentially an early call for ‘game over!’.
Soon after, a scrambled Arsenal corner-kick broke to Samir Nasri on the edge of the box, and the French youngster who had been anonymous as any other today stroke well to finally beat Tim Howard from 20 yards out.
Van Persie should have given Arsenal the lead when Eboue cut back a low cross to him, only to blast it into the stands with his right foot. But the Dutchman did make impressive amends the next time he was found in that area. Van Persie headed in from close-range as a rebound from Fabregas’ saved shot.

There was a showering relief sensed around the Emirates Stadium – most of it courtesy of Walcott’s introduction. Everton dared to push for an equalizer anyhow with the match not lacking any intensity. A little injury worry for Samir Nasri meant he went-off for Abou Diaby to make his first appearance of the season.

And with minutes away from the final whistle, Theo Walcott capped off his effective impact with his first league goal on Arsenal’s ground. The high-paced English star drilled the ball home after a cut-back from fellow substitute Diaby and initiated a return to form for the Gunners. Prior to the clash, Wenger had labeled this match “the season opener” due to the interruptions of the international breaks and of course, some shameful hiccups.

  357. Pedro Says:

Evening grovers… shite first half that exposed our first team… but a forced change of formation showed us a lot!

A good result… but some poor performances today.

    What did everyone else think?

  358. kingsley Says:

my commnent about us being mediocre has nothing to do with the performane today. the current crop of centre midfileders at the club is sub standard. (fab apart) that is fact. sub standard compared to previous arsenal midfields and sub standard compared to our rivals . that was all i meant.

  359. Doublegooner Says:

Bottom line is; Wenger has left this squad woefully short.

There is nothing that can be done now at least til mid jan or next may. He & he alone takes the blame.

    Have a good one, Goons.

  360. patthegooner Says:

Matt, I dont think there is any need for that comment about getting a grip or weeing pants when things are not going great.

When you watch a football game whether it be live on tv or live at the stadium your emotions run high. What people post on here during a game is probably what people are saying to each other or in their heads during a game.

The sheer fact that People from around the globe are posting on here during game shows that they too support them through thick and thin, and when you take into account we have people posting in Australia and beyond, that is pretty dedicated given the time difference.

As a performance I dont think you could get a better example of a game of two halves there today. We were fucking awful in that 1st half and you honestly couldn’t see us scoring despite the opportunities (as those they fell too could not hit a barn door). It will hurt us long term but Toure’s injury did us a major favour today, as it forced wenger to change a ridiculous team selection that put an average player out of position at RB and it cost us.

I can’t help my feelings, given that selection and first half performance, I have never felt more dissilussioned and so low low on faith in Arsene Wenger in his time at the club. That wasn’t a stupid moronic reaction to a bad first half, it was a culmination of 4 years of dissapointment in his decisions in both team selections and transfer dealings. It does not mean I support the club any less, I would still love the turf they run around if they were playing conference football and consisted of 11 Song’s.

It is now time for Wenger and those players to start rebuilding that faith though. hopefully the 2nd half is a sign of it.

  361. Wrighty7 Says:

Pedro, my views are at 6:03 mate.

  362. Pedro Says:

Kingsley, Denilson is mediocre, don’t apologise for thinking that… 90% of the ticket holders at the Emirates agree on that point. He was at fault for the first, then he repeated the mistake about 15 minutes later.

He ain’t good enough… but hopefully diaby is… he looked great when he came on.

Matt, don’t knock people because they write down what they are feeling at a certain point in a game… that first half was shite and people have a right to feel angry about it. We turned it around, but the second half wasn’t great by any stretch of the imagination.

  363. Doublegooner Says:

What a cunt that ref was.

Missed a blatant pen then allows that retard Hibberd to commit a terrible foul ( sure those morons on MOTD will think its fair tackle) & gives just a yellow plus one for us.

  364. paul Says:

Pedro, do you think that Wenger is the new tinkerman with his bemusing team selections?

  367. Pedro Says:

Wrighty… that team selection baffled me. Why select Song at right back when you have Eboue? Why play Eboue when you have a fit Theo?

Madness… he was forced into making the right team selection… thank fuck really.

Kolo and Nasri looked bad… any news?

Is he on fucking drugs, has he lost the fucking plot???

I was with fellow Grovers, Chris, Steve, Odub, Pedro, Bud and I and we are all singing off the same hymn sheet.

  374. kingsley Says:

i’m off out have a good one guys.

  375. finestcuts Says:

Eveninbg, what a nervewracking game, We had an awesome second half performance and an awful first half performance.
After the first half we needed to step up a couple of gears to win the game. And we did, it looked so unlikely in the first half. Song is a long way off from being a centre back, I was very pleased with Eboue’s performance at right back, and in right midfield, he got right in there, got in the right positions, I’ve seen enough evidence to say, this guy is improving.
I’m more than OK with Eboue playing at right back, far more than Toure. Silvestre looked OK, but it’s his first game back, still doesn’t look 100% but it seems we didn’t have an option today, he had to play a full 90 minutes, overall pleased with some important defending he did in the game. Clichy was very good, Toure should have been taken off earlier, he took a second knock on an already tender shoulder, I hope he recovers soon, as does Djourou, in the first half Toure played as well as the team did.
Denilson was involved as well, excellent passing, good tackiling, Fabregas played an important part, Nasri was superb, he got us back into the game very shortly into the second half, lovely goal as well, so was Walcott, he very positively altered the team’s dynamic, thankfully we were back to attacking which is our best form of defence.
RVP is coming good, 4/7 Prem League games, Adebayor is getting back to his 06/07 (not 07/08 form)form he is too inconsistent, same as his finishing skills, and terrible tactical play, too many offsides.
The whole team played badly in the first half. And Diaby set up a 3rd a few minutes after coming on the pitch which sealed the game, credit to Walcott for finishing it off superbly.

  376. choy Says:

pedro.. as i said before.. shittin bricks

  377. Keyser Says:

LoL so no-one can think of any reason why we started with who we did ?!

  378. kingsley Says:

how far do i want to go back? i agree last year we were not substandard. but our midfield has lost flamini, gilberto, hleb and diarra. (all up to standard!) ……here i go again………fact!

  379. iceman Says:

We’re gonna have to play Silvestre and Song against Fener……………We need a prayer!!!

  380. paul Says:

Why Silvestre had a good game today

  381. Pedro Says:

Keyser… are you saying that because you agree or do you have the answer?

  382. Geoff Says:

Finest, Song was right back not Eboue, and Song was as always, shit. Sorry mate, I respect you, but not Song.

  383. Ja_Gunner Says:

Arsene is getting weirder with his team selections.

If both Song and Denilson are playing…..why not play Song as the DM..and give Denilson a more attacking role.

From what I saw Eboue was at RB…Song was at Right wing and Denilson as DM.

I would have played Song as the DM and then put Denilson on the right wing…since he decided to rest Walcott.

Now we were lucky Toure got injured as this forced Arsene to make a change at halftime. If not he would have waited toolong as usual.

Walcott directly impacted on our goal as it stemmed from the freekick he won. Maybe this will teach Arsene a lesson in early subs…if things are not working.

Liverpool win again from behind when the opposing team foolishlt picks up a red card..handing Liverpool the advantage…..two weeks in a row my stomach has been sickened by this.

  384. Pedro Says:

Agreed Paul… he is a no nonsense defender… he made a couple of errors but overall I thought he looked good.

He is fucking massive as well! I didn’t realise how big he was!

  385. Geoff Says:

    Oh but Silvestre was fab!

  386. paul Says:

Song was totally at fault and lazy for their goal

  387. Keyser Says:

So what give it time, so the fact is we lost those players ? That’s your fact ? You saw Diarra play how many games and he’s par for the likes of who ?!

Gilberto was looking weary and Nasri’s equalled Hleb’s goalscoring record for last year ?!

  388. Geoff Says:

    Night all.

  389. avenell Says:

JD should be back for Tuesday shouldn’t he?

  390. iceman Says:

Silvestre did…..but now he’s gotta play with Song……seriously….what does AW not see…..

  391. finestcuts Says:

I see, I saw Eboue dip out to the right a few times, and Song’s positioning was awful as well, I saw him in the centre, like when he was ball watching when they almost made it 2-0, he was in the centre and wasn’t marking properly, I saw him in the centre quite a lot.

  392. choy Says:

    hleb who?

  393. Keyser Says:

I’m just wondering if we’re just going to write off something else to madness aswell, it’s like your post about shit or great and nothing in between.

Diaby’s spent a month on the touch lines, wouldn’t it make sense not to rush him back because he is soo injury prone, Theo’s playing regularly for Arsenal and England now, he looked flat against Belarus and needed a rest, not to mention his questionable defensive skills.

    Who does that leave ?!

  394. kelsey Says:

I get enough bollocking from the wife but it gets a bit confusing when kingsley, keyser and i are on here at the same time.

We were fortunate through the mis fortune of toure getting injured and wenger having to change things.i thought song and silvestre looked more comfortable in the second half together, clichy was awesome and ade has lost it completely.rvp is trying to hit every ball at 100 mph but as i said before we now have at least one if not two more players injured.if wenger doesn’t know his best team to put out then the future aint too rosy.

  395. Rasputin Says:

Centreback is probably the only position Song should be considered for. Sylvestre showed what experience gives by coming straight into his first game at the Emirates and giving an assured performance winning plenty of headers and keeping it simple at the back. Song and Sylvestre should be OK at fener if he plays the rest of the team that finished the game today.

  396. Ja_Gunner Says:

Finest he took up the centre back position the second half because of Toure’s injury.

In the first half he was a right winger, which is puzzling to me because he is not known for crosses and he is not known for pace…..so I have absolutley no idea why Arsene would start him there.

Why not put Denilson there? he laid on an inch perfect cross to Ade in one game plus he has other assists and has scored also…

so why play him in a defensive role….when the back up centre back/DM for Cameroun is playing?

Well Manure is hitting form now….plus Chelsea and Liverpool keep on winning so its only going to get harder from now on.
I think this is the first game Manu actually dominated and deserved to win…its just a shame the refs handed them the other games before this. They could have serioulst been pegged back…but now they are in position to overtake us if they win their game in hand….the world is not fair at all.

  397. iceman Says:

    I’m not too sure……….hope so…………..

  398. Pedro Says:

    Sensible team selection Keyser.

Eboue at right back, becuase that is his position.

Ramsey/Vela/Theo out wide because they offer us something going forward… and I would have picked Diaby in the middle purely based on how massive Fellani is… if not him… Song becuase Denilson is just not strong enough.

  399. iceman Says:

Think we should just focus on ourselves regardless of Manure, Chelski. Pool will slip away eventually as always. We need to build on this game and get some kind of run going.Confidence will def be boosted by this comeback win.

  400. patthegooner Says:

To be honest I expected the team as was today apart from Song at RB,

I thought Theo would be rested, but I thought that it was going to be Toure RB and Song and Silvestre in Defence

Not that I am happy it has come to that, but we have been over the lack of squad investment oh so often. It is not what I would have chosen.

You play to your strengths especially at the back. You cant fuck around with playing people out of position in defence. I would have gone for Eboue, Toure, Silvestre, Clichy which on paper is pretty strong.

Ok that leaves us a bit short on the RM, but I would rather have given Vela or Wilshire a game at RM than play Song at RB.

  401. Wrighty7 Says:

Anyone hear the Chavs? They’ve pinched our song, they were signing

    “Boring boring Chelsea”

    Wankers!

  402. Gunner8 Says:

Pedro, Geoff and Odub, nice to see you, decent result after a dire first half.

Question 1: Why did we look more defensively sound after Toure went off?

Question 2: Should Adebayor be benched after walking off at the whistle and not celebrating with the team?

  403. Pedro Says:

    Nice to see you Gunner8!

    We had a nice gathering!

I am not worried about the Kolo injury… Song and Silvestre looked fine to me.

Poor team selection… and for once… injuries helped!

  404. Keyser Says:

Pedro – So you can’t understand why he went with who he did ?!

  405. Rasputin Says:

    Spot on Pedro.

Ade should be benched back in Togo and never wear our shirt again as far as I’m concerned.

Let’s hope Nick is fit soon and Ade gets an injury so AW has to make another enforced substitution for the better.

  406. Gunner8 Says:

I am curious as to what th line-up will be in Constantinople?

Will he stick with the same team or will we see Vela with a start??

  407. Ja_Gunner Says:

As long as West Ham atleast draw with Hull, then atleast after the weekend the table will look pretty good with us in third.

Even though Manure has a game in hand against Fulham….so our true position may actually be fourth….if Manure wins that game eventually.

For the next game I would say Song and Silvestre in central defense. If Nasri is out….then Diabyand Cesc in the middle….Theo on the right and I guess he could play Denilson on the left….with Vela replacing Denilson between 50-60 min mark depending on how the game is going.

    ……………………Almunia……………………….

    Eboue……….Song…………Sylvestre………..Clichy

    Walcott……..Diaby……….Cesc…………….Denilson(Vela at 55min)

    …………………RVP………Ade…………………..

  408. Gunner8 Says:

Djourou be ok, as I would see
Djourou for Song and Nasri for Denilson and Vela for Ade

but it will probably be like yours

  409. Gunner8 Says:

Right off for food mmmmmmmmmmmm, nightol

  410. Pedro Says:

I saw JD when I was sitting outside the bar… he drives a top of the range SL 500… at 21!

I’m not jealous.. I swear I am not Jealous.

Last time I saw him driving he was rolling in a Corsa!

  411. Wrighty7 Says:

Dont worry Pedro your time will come!

  412. Pedro Says:

You’re right Wrighty… hopefully those shares I bought in Lehman brothers will pick up!

  413. Ja_Gunner Says:

I just watched the post game interview with Arsene.

He said he would have brought on Theo at halftime even if Toure was ok.

Lol I wonder if he actually meant that.

  414. Confidentgoner Says:

Paul, you really think Song was to blame? I would say total lapse from the midfield to defense.

Football at the level of the top 4 is about the decisions the manager makes. Get the dynamics wrong and you pay for it. Mr. Wenger had a lucky break today. I hope he knows he cannot be making stupid mistakes every matchday.

Boro gave Chelsea all the space in the world and got thumped 5-0. After watching the first two minutes of the manU match, I knew they would spank WBA… they have picked form.

  415. Metal Gear Says:

Seriously the jury is out on Denilson we tried Song and Eboue (during pre-season) so Diaby looks like are only hope Denilson looks like he has not fully understood that if he does not step his game up Diaby will end up taking his position. If Diaby was to step up that would help me completely erase the memory of the awful complacency shown by the board and in particularly Wenger after allowing a then utility but important player to run out his contract and leaving for nothing even though initially he wanted to sign a new long-term contract. But the problem as we all know is that Diaby is injury-prone so we just have to HOPE a word I use far to often when associated with Arsenal.

In terms of the league we just need to stay in touching distance of the title by January (6 points max) so Wenger can sign some know-how and mentally prepared player(s).

  416. Pedro Says:

Confident… I’d put the blame on Denilson… he lost it… he didn’t track back to get it back and he didn’t follow Osmans run.

    Inexperience cost us that goal.

  417. kelsey Says:

pedro, wenger said toure has torn ligaments in his shoulder and was out for tuesday, unless i misheard him.

  418. Wrighty7 Says:

Spot on Pedro, Osmans run wasn’t tracked and that cost us.

  419. Ja_Gunner Says:

I actually believe that Song could make a good DM/back up centre back in a 4-4-2…..Diaby could play the home games along side Cesc when we are more attacking in the same 4-4-2.

But when we want to be more defensive, i actually think Song could do a good job as DM….however Arsene has not been playing him there.

If you look closely..against Sunderland when we played 4-5-1…Denilson played DM….Song played in CM(in Cesc’s normal role) and Cesc was futher upfield as a support stiker.

In this game against Everton, Song was at RB.

Alot of people have said he is not up to the DM role..but the fact is he has not been played there, so we cant judge him on that position…maybe Arsene really does not trust him.

We can clearly see from the games however that he is not a creator and not a right back. I believe he can be a good DM/CB…but he is not being played in those positions that much. An injury is what forced Arsene to play him at CB today…..on the whole he looked much better at CB.. He made one mistake at the beginning of the half..but after that we looked solid.

I believe he can be just as comfortable as DM..but more the Gilberto type when we want extra defensive cover.

  420. Ja_Gunner Says:

I also watched the Manure game..andthe diff between them and us..is that they defend as a team and also attack as a team.

When they defend they get most of their players back except for Ronaldo.
Then when they win the ball the break quickly and in numbers.

They also press very hard and dont “switch off” as much as our team does.
This makes them very hard to break down because all the players have the discipline to track and harass opposing players.

We need to develop this aggression it seems to really put us over the top.

  421. avenell Says:

Metal Gear.. Song was at the Olympics during pre season….

  422. patthegooner Says:

I dont really think Song is good for any position.

I think he is completely out of his depth, and found his level whilst on loan at Charlton.

I know he was playing out of position today, but I remember when Flamini was asked to play a similar role at LB, he put in 100%

Today Song was caught out of position on numerous occaisions, and on those occaisions seemed to stroll back as if he we was out walking the dogs in the park on a Sunday afternoon.

We are supposedly a top four club, and a club that is challenging for honours, and whilst we continue to play the likes of Song week in week out, it shows that 3rd/4th is all we can hope for at best.

I am all up for playing youth if they have the talent, but despite being at the club for many years, I still dont see the potential in him. I know Wenger does but I wonder how much of that comes down to stubborness to try and make it work. When we look at the Theo’s, Cesc’s, Clichys, Wilshires, Ramsey’s, Djourou’s, Vela’s etc, ok they are not the finished article but you can see the class, you know they are going to make it. I just dont see that in Song. He is like the last kid picked at school just to make up the numbers.

Song should be our 5th choice at CB at best, he should not be filling in wherever we have a gap due to not strengthening enough pre-season. He has become the new Eboue but a very shit one. I actually feel for Eboue as although he is frustrating as a RM player, he is a very good RB and would probably get in the majority of Premiership teams in that position. Song is just shit.

    Just my opinion.

  423. patthegooner Says:

Let me put the CM situation another way,

What we really miss is a Vieira, Keane, Makele, Essien, Gerrard at their prime, Someone to give Cesc the freedom to do what he does best. I feel that is why Cesc is suddenly a little off the standard at the moment. He just hasn’t got the right partner in Midfield to gel and dominate games in attack and defense in midfield, his game suffers for it big time.

Song and Denilson will not be that player, Diaby I doubt will be that player and that is what we have to find.

Wenger is fucking brilliant at picking out a gem from no where and I think he has to do it again in the next transfer window.

  424. goonermichael Says:

Just watched motd. they are all cunts. even lee dixon’s at it (arsenal bashing) shearer is a bald headed geordie piece of dogshit,

  425. goonermichael Says:

    CUNTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  426. avenell Says:

SS are no better they reckon that the foul on Clichy was only a yellow, they didn’t mention Clichy done fuck all for his yellow!!

And the first yellow on Valencia in the Wigan/Liverpool game that got him sent off unfuckingbeievable, exactly the same as last year..

These refs are paid good money they need to be accountable for there decisions, respect the ref how can you?

  427. Metal Gear Says:

Avenell I was talking about Eboue not Song.

  428. avenell Says:

Metal Gear…..OK mate read it wrong..

  429. gnarleygeorge9 Says:

    Pedro

Couldn’t agree with you more about denilson. He just let osman through on goal. So much for being a DM.

Nice to see Finests avatar back out there.

  430. David Says:

Just a quick comment on Cesc complaining he is the old one in arsenal and everyone is so young!

CESC QUIT COMPLAINING FOR GOD SAKES MAN! GROW A PAIR! BE A MAN AND BE THE FREAKING LEADER YOU WERE BORN TO BE! DONT YOU SEE ARSENE IS GIVEN YOU THE KEYS TO TAKE OVER!!!!>?????

Actually i think that Goal was more Silvestre’s fault…he kept his eye of the ball and was too slow closing down the man with the ball.

Silvestre had an awesome game by the way fela’s

  431. Metal Gear Says:

Goonermichael I don’t think Lee Dixion is Arsenal bashing my interpretation of Arsenal bashing is when pundits or the press attack Arsenal with incredible venom without producing a fair and balanced view but instead a very biased and almost hateful tone. Lee loves Arsenal and he visibly gets frustrated when having to talk about Arsenal’s weakness it must embarrass him because he rarely talks about the failings of Man USA or Roman F.C because there really isn’t any.

We are paying the price for Wenger’s stubborn approach during the STW I mean c’mon….can you imagine SAF having a midfield of Denilson DM and Eboue RB?

Avenell I know they should have spoken about the yellow card but at the same time Wenger should have made a meal of it during the PMI than they would have brought it up.

  432. goonermichael Says:

Wa won but all they wanted to talk about was our frailties at the back and positives for everton they didn’t even replay the goals. Why didn’t they aproach the chavs game from the point of view that boro were utter shite and unlucky on top?

  433. Evo in Oz Says:

    Patthegooner at 7.03pm

well said mate, i agree whole heartedly!

Matt – i swear 100% you would have been saying the same stuff at the game – either under your breath or to your mates! Simple!

  434. Evo in Oz Says:

ive never seen that ref before either, where the fuck did he come from?

so woeful decisions in the 2nd half – mind boggling on how hibbert got off so lightly. definite pen on van persie in the box also!

  435. Evo in Oz Says:

Commentators mentioned a lot of people left their seats early before half time, i wonder if Matt was one of them? i just noticed it on the replay and there were a shitloads of empty seats at the 46min mark.

Pedro and Geoff must have been looking for the peroni bar?

  436. Evo in Oz Says:

great strike by Nasri – just saw the replay of the goal. good set up by the team and funny to watch in slow-mo Silvestre doing a small lay off and then jumping out of the way for Nasri to belt it!

  437. Evo in Oz Says:

how the fuck did hibbert think he could get the ball from Denilson – fuck that cunt, it was red for me

  438. avenell Says:

Evo have a look at Wigan’s Valencia’s yellows and see how consistant the refs are in this country!

Nothing like an Arsenal game day & win. You are on fire mate. Yes I tend to agree it was a red.

  441. Metal Gear Says:

Gonnermichael they did mention boro were poor but Roman F.C did not give away an extremely sloppy goal, they looked solid at the back when they had to defend, and showed urgency from the get go….basically everything we want Arsenal to be like.

  442. Evo in Oz Says:

yeah it makes your weekend when your team has a win. i was so much in the dolldrums after the hull and sunderland games.

    DAVID

totally agree .. cesc will rise to be a world super star if he stays at arsenal , in the same mold as TH14 … get the captaincy in the next 2 or 3 years , and youll make more of a name for yourself
showing loyalty to arsenal than going to a Spanish giant and rolling the dice on your future success .. Here it is assured !

and thats why i think he will leave shortly !
because the above scenario means nothing to him !

the same old story of you can lead a horse to water ….

  448. iceman Says:

If he’s given the armband next season and if we can manage to pick up some silverware this season he will go on to do a TH14. No doubt!!
