Cracks start to appear, are you listening Arsene?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Arsene Wengers overwhelming favourite Cesc Fabregas has started to criticise his father figure boss, last week was the ‘if I don’t win trophies’ bit, which we all ignored, then Cesc came out and said he intends to fulfil his dreams here.

Today though he says in The Sun:

‘Our squad is a bit short on numbers and we are very young. Behind me there is Denilson, who is 20, or Alex Song who is 21, Theo Walcott is 19 and Samir Nasri 21, It’s hard to imagine a midfield where I am the oldest member, we find it very hard to win matches, as we do not possess enough experience’

Ouch Arsene, the boy you’ve signed three times and extended his contract until the year 4545 and no one knows if man will be alive (there’s a song there) that boy is starting to tell you your experiment isn’t working, not I, but golden boy Cesc!!!

So we here at Le Grove and 99% of you Grovers have been saying now for three years you need to sign some experience, and during that time we have been verbally attacked by legions of AKB’s who vilified us for daring to question the professors cunning plan, we have now been joined by the kid that started the experiment Francesc Fabregas, so AKB children, what do you make of that?

Arsene, what say you? Are you going to make a statement? Saying you can’t afford to buy a decent 25 year old is nonsense because the 3-17 year olds you sign cost the same and they like Cesc will get to 24 and leave the club when they get good.

I think it’s time to re visit your blackboard it’s not working.

Onto Fabio the sell out. I had someone on yesterday called Hugo who told me he was upset that I thought someone of Capello’s standing would be told what to do by the FA and would only play Beckham if he felt he added to the team, I said the FA have told him that Beckham needs to get the all time record.

Well Fabio last night you brought Beckham for a whole two minutes, did that help?

Course it didn’t, you are a sell out, it’s embarrassing and if Beckham had a hair on his arse he’d walk away and show some pride, when he gets the record, I hope he remembers his 2 minute cameos, he didn’t deserve it.

It was fair enough with the 100, but this is just a joke. Next game up is April, he’ll be 6 months older and 6 months more in America, I bet he’ll still be in the squad.

I won’t be writing the next 3 posts as I’m out of the loop, so have fun with Pedro.

In the mean time, let your opinion be known on the Cesc issue in our poll below!

Wenger really gambled it this time. He really got it wrong with Flamoney and Diarra. He’s surrounding himself with supposedly French loyalist who have kept disappointing him time after time

  2. avenell

Helsinki.. No I didn’t forget that, but don’t forget all the young arsenal players had an extra season of experience of playing together and losing the League last year too.

I was just saying this is a over reaction to youngsters, when we are actually older than last season, we just lack one player next to Cesc!

  3. Confidentgoner

Common gunners, Cesc statement should be viewed positively. The boys can rise up and conquer if AW allows them to. I still have my faith in this squad. When they have lost, they have been unlucky and were not totally outplayed. Keep the faith, but let AW do what he has to do!

  4. Arsenal Tom

avenell… its more of a reaction to ability, and the fact that denilson and song are miles away from being what we need.

fair play on the age thing but one year spread over the 11 players means nothing… a month & 3 days per player!!

  5. avenell

AT yes your are right average age it’s just over a month.
But we are now arguing over the same point, I say we need just one player, You are saying Song and Denilson arn’t experienced/good enough.

    It’s the same thing.

  6. Pedro

What makes me laugh is that Arsene is shocked when players he ripped from their home nations using cash as bait go on to leave!

They’ve been mercenaries since they were 15!

  7. Arsenal Tom

confident… how much longer does he get then? he had 3 months in the summer to do what he has to do!!!

avenell… fair enough mate! not sure about just 1 player tho!!!

  8. Michael Rhodes

Aliadiere, Lupoli, Muamba, Larsson, Gilbert, J.Hoyte, Owusu-Abeyie, Upson, Bentley, Stokes…….remember these guys?? All were said to be the Arsenal of the future who would take the Premier League and Champions League by storm……

  9. dennisdamenace

gunner – the point is not about being owned by anr particular style of new owner. The point is Arsenal FC make enough money to bolster the first team squad with proven quality to ehance what we already have. However, AW chooses not to do so, and as such quality like Fab4 has to carry Middlesboro FC level rubbish players like Eboue, Denilson, Song etc etc……….

  10. dennisdamenace

Only two trophies worth going for, are you reading straight from the AW handbook on bollox talking fella?? So, The FA Cup is no longer worth competing for then?? Can we afford to be so fecking choosey when we’ve won naff all for four years??

  11. Arsenalstar

I think cesc is 100% right but what worrying me he is no longer needed at arsenal the way the team depended on him over last two year. One thing that may suprise people is that he is the weakest link these time around plus we have never won anything with him being the main player. I hope i don’t rub anyone wrong way cesc is one boy wonder whose time at top means he is now seriously considering moving on. Good luck to him arsenal would still be around anyway.

  12. choy

I would take the fuckin carling cup if it means the fans being able to go to wembley and gives the kids the winning experience!

  13. Arsenalkenya

Arsenal’s Cesc: I missed my childhood

Cesc Fabregas admits he believes he missed his childhood by moving to Arsenal from Barcelona so young.

Fabregas, who joined Arsenal from Barcelona at just 16, admits he has struggled at times with life in England.

He said: “The hardest part of playing in England was having to leave my family behind when I was so young.

“I had to endure all my problems by myself and my adolescence just passed me by.”

  14. kenny smith

Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure claims brother Kolo and boss Arsene Wenger have made contact to try to persuade him to move to Arsenal.

Lets hope we can keep within reach of the top spot up to january and get Yaya in to add some more experience………

The thing with cesc is that he hasnt exactly been hitting top form either and he has a fair bit of experience behind him even though he is only 21. if you look at how many games he has played. So maybe its not just experience that is the whole contributing factor.

  15. Michael Rhodes

Kenny smith……yaya toure is definately not the answer. If he cant get into the barcelona squad, what good will he be for us? Last season he was a regular and they finished some way behind Real Madrid. Flamin, Gilberto and Diarra are all much better than yaya.

We completelty fucked up by letting ALL of them go.

Only someone like Veloso would fill the void left by these departures.

  16. MarkB

I think a perfect partner for Cesc in the middle of the park, would be Croatia’s – Ivan Rakitic. Every time i see this lad he excites me, he’s tall, strong, tackle’s hard, passes the ball excellently, can cross, has good shot, he’s scores for club and country . He’s quality. Ok he doesn’t have vast amounts of experience, with him only been 20, but he’s class,he plays beyond his age, he grabbed 2 for Croatia last night, and him and Cesc together – Arsenal would go places.

  17. Confidentgoner

    Gents,,

Barcelona were not great last year and have not been great this year. Except for the last performance against Atletico they have been mediocre. that is with all the stars that cesc dream of playing with. Ditto for real madrid .. a la flamini. I am yet to see how Hleb and Flamini have set their clubs on fire. The Arsenal curse…. It is real.

Cesc is also part of our problem. Yes he can hold the ball and give incisive asses but he is really not suited for the fast pace of the premiership if truth be told. I expect him to take up the gauntlet and motivate his young colleagues to the challenge rather than moaning to pressmen. This is the easy way and the easy way is for losers, not for winners.

We should all know that it will be difficult to keep Cesc in the squad come 2009 and we should accept that. For me I will advocate that in this eam nobody should have an automatic shirt. Nobody is indispensable and he was nowhere near TH14 in terms of performance for the club. Besides we do have Ramsey, Nasri, Dennilson and Diaby who can play Cesc’s role.

The evidence is that we are playing better without Titi, so why can we not without Cesc?

  18. kenny smith

michael rhodes……. yaya doesnt get a game for barca so why should he play for us i hear you ask????…… to that i say cesc wouldnt get a game for barca in their midfield so why is he good enough for us???

  19. Paulinho

And that’s the big problem Confidentgoner. Fabregas is intrinsically not suited to the EPL, so in order for him to be our talisman we need to tailor a team to exactly suit his needs. That’s why Hleb was so important to him, it enabled Fabs to play his continental game and still flourish over the agricultural counterparts.

Now, we’ve become more agricultural ourselves and playing in a more “english’ fashion. This means Cesc is getting dragged down into a style of football he doesn’t enjoy or prosper in.

Alot of Arsenal fans want to have their cake and eat it. By that I mean they want the possession football of Fabregas and also the counter-attack of the invincibles. That’s unrealistic and a pipe dream. What we had last season needed slight tweaking but that style of football was the way to go. A direct, stretched game doesn’t suit him.

  20. Paulinho

But, the players you mentioned are just not ready to take Cesc’s place. Denilson is unbelievably shit, Nasri is not cm in a 4-4-2, Diaby is lazy and lacks brains. Ramsay is the only candidate and he is only 17.

  21. kenny smith

the problem is the shite we play in midfiled…. If we played 4 in midfield evry week with two genuine wingers then we wouldnt be debating this. trouble that wenger players 4-5-1 with rvp out wide and song in midfield. its tactics thats all it is. Nothing to do with experience… a game of football is a game of football. At the end of the day if take a shot and score and win a game 1-0 then all is well and good. If you take a shot and miss and you lose the game 1-0 then its apparently lack of experience. Not down to the fact that your technique was off that day… none of this team has produced anything like their best so far this season and that is down to the people that play every week like cesc! He hasnt been that good so far and tries to blame everyone else not having experience. Everyone has been relatively crap so they should all take responsibiltiy and stop blaming experience

  22. kenny smith

i would argue sagna and clichy aswell but the barca coach wouldnt…… if barca thought any of our players would start infront of what they have just now then they would of tried to buy them…. they have done in the past and will do so again

  23. BB

how can people in earnest say that Cesc is not in tune with the style of the EPL??
    hello, hello ……………..
we should get Kevin Nolan .. true..now he is really adapted to the style of the EPL..but only the EPL..hold on maybe even the Championship
    what a load of bollox
played 6, lost 2 .. with Den and Son, our 2 new super heroes
no defensive midfileder .. an ill fitted centre half pairing.. Eboue as a left winger and Sagna out of shape..
yet Cesc should leave the club now coz he doesnt fit in..

let me tell you that the biggest crap is hearing people say that we play great entertaining footie .. where and when?? at Bolton for 25 mins .. basta .. the rest is/was painful to watch and even our most creative player is saying same thing now ..

Cesc after the EC should have been rested and brought back into the game slowly .. we lost an entire midfiled and brought two losers into the side who are equally shiite and the only other one that is half decent, ie Diaby, is on the Rosicky list ..

so we are short Ros, Flam,Hleb and Gil and who do we get?? Nasri and thats it

Wenger is DELUSIONAL and should get SACKED .. end of story .. his days are numbered as even his protege points his shortcomings out to him..

    Cesar, remember Brutus

  24. Pedro

Guys, Cesc loves the club… I think he is just letting Wenger know that he is not satisfied with the current path.

20 assists last season tells you he is perfectly in tune with the Prem… I’d like a few more goals this year, but beggars can’t be choosers!

All Cesc needs is some protection and a bit of freedom… he wont leave in the summer in my opinion, but a lot of that will depend on how well we do going forward.

  25. Confidentgoner

No, I wouldn’t go or think as far as selling him, Paulinho. But if he is not in form why play him?

What use is a player if he can only play 10 matches consecutively? lets not talk about Rosicky.. please. he is very good , i agree but we did not loose last season because we lost him. Gilberto wa not half the player he was last year. he was really not up to our standard and thatwas why the flamster played ahead of him.

Our problem is really tactics, gentlemen and ladies. look at the EPL. The best team on paper is Chelsea, but they have not won for two years, why? because they lost Jo Mo? I’d say no. On paper they are awesome but o the field they do not gel that much and what they succeed in doing is make it very tough for you to beat them.

Our problem apart from poor strategy ad substitution is that we give away space outside the box. our mifielders and fowards need to play as a unit with the defence. hat has been man U key to victory, ot really the personnel, not their ages and experience.

  26. Pedro

Confident… you can’t drop Cesc becuase the team is built around him and even if you wanted to be really harsh, who could you put in his place?

  27. Pedro

Haha, Michael Rhodes came on, abused Kenny… then claimed his freedom of speech was being violated and said he was only being blocked because he didn’t agree with the site!

Go and call a policeman a cunt and see what happens, enjoy the spam… your comments wont be read going forward.

  28. Keyser

Is there anyplace to read the actual interview as it took place ? Instead of the Bollocks that The Sun and The Telegraph feed us ?!

Was it from the press conferences of the International team ? All it takes is some prick journalist asking “Why do you think you’ve not had the same startas last year ?” as a question to get that sort of response from him.

  29. Pedro

    Freedom of speech:

‘In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on “hate speech”. This is because exercising freedom of speech always takes place within a context of competing values.’

  30. Paulinho

Tactics is only a problem when your personnel is not as good. Last year we had the talent to pull off a 4-5-1, now we don’t.

    Cause and effect….cause and effect.

  31. Keyser

See is that all from the same press conference because I swear quotes have been used similar to that in the last week or so ?!

What a bunch of cunts the media are, the first portion doesn’t allude to anything Fabregas was asked orwas specifically commenting on, the second and third bits do.

  32. Paulinho

I don’t see the point is scrutinising sources etc. What Cesc said yesterday is just an extension of what he’s already said. He’s probably pissed off reading some fans saying Denilson is now the blue-eyed boy!

  33. Keyser

Pualinho – Because it obviously matters, unless you just want it to represent your particular views or thoughts howver slanted, you wouldn’t be the type of person to look for any justification of previous comments just so you can go “me me me i’m right I was right told you so” are you ?!

So you think with a fit squad we can’t pull off a 4-5-1 ?! Aren’t we going for Total football ?!

  34. Confidentgoner

    pedro,

We will still play well without cesc

    alumina

    Sagna Kolo Djoru /Sylvest Clitchy

    Song/Dennilson

    Theo /Eboue Nasri /Ramsey Vela/Theo

    Ade /RVP Bent

  35. Paulinho

Delusions of grandeur Keyser. The concept of playing total football with the likes of Eboue, Denilson, and Song in the side – and RVP left wing – is laughable.

Maybe with a full strength squad and Rosicky and Nasri playing, it could conceivably work but as I’ve said before, Rosicky is never going to be fit.

As for using Cesc’s comments, they are there for all to see. Could it be that your desperate to interpret them in another light so not concede I was right about Hleb’s absence? You seem that sort of person as well ;)

  36. Confidentgoner

    Paulinho,

How is Flamini better than Dennilson? Look at the stats and the player index Dennilson has one of the best. his problem is he tends to go foward too much.

Is hleb that much better than nasri? Ok, he can dribble but he holds the ball too long, and does not shoot. His passes are not even incisive — Advantage nasri.

Where is your Beef? It is stil down to AW to blend and make this team work.

On Eboue: I know he brigs balance to the team. he has qualities as well, going fowrd and defending.

Song is good but maybe not as fast, but Gilberto was not as fast i his hey days. lets not condemn these boys. Juve consider Eboue a better buy than Alonso. Why? They say he is faster, holds the ball better and is better defesively.

Learn to love the one you are with!

  37. Keyser

Paulinho – It’s not delusions of anything, I said with a fit squad dude,.

I’m just not that easily convinced considering what the media has done in the past and what their motives are in the first place,

Hah what were you right about ? I said give the players time and that Hleb’s contribution shouldn’t devalue the rest of the teams, because he was just one piece of it, he may be missed but it doesn’t mean he won’t be replaced or we can’t succeed without him, you really really like him don’t you ?!

  38. Franchise

Guys please lets stop arguing about nothing we all know even arsene knows that we are 1 signing short. Look on the brighter side there’s still all to play for. I’ve seen better sides win nothing. Only one team is gonna win the league so the best we can do is fight until the end. I believe wenger would wrap up some deals in Jan.

  39. dennisdamenace

4-5-1 can work if you have the personnel, AFC do not have the personnel. RvP is no winger, much in the same way that Eboue, Denilson and Song are NOT Arsenal, EPL Top 4, Champs League class players……….and if they are the three numpties most at risk if AW buys experience, well then hellooooooooooooooooow!!

  40. Franchise

DDM last season if they had told u that flamini whom we tried to offload would be one of the players of the season would you have placed a 1p bet on it. I guess not. Its too early to draw conclusions. The main reason we have dropped points is cos of the so called experienced players. deniilson has been one of our best players this season FYI

  41. Pedro

Franchise, if you’d asked me whether he could do a job, I’d say yes… certainly.

The difference this season is that we don’t have any back up…

If Flamini was crap last year we had Diarra and Berto as back up… this year we don’t have anyone great in the position at the moment so it is replacing crap with crap.

Well, maybe that is unfair… I have high hopes for Diaby and Denilson is just young…

  42. Franchise

Pedro I think we just need to get like four straight wins and you would see the confidence levels of players like denilson increase. Even Fabregas seems to be short on confidence.

  43. Keyser

It took three seasons for Hleb or Flamini to show anything of worth, you can’t just decide players aren’t good enough after a few games, there’s too many factors that can affect a teams performance.

  44. Franchise

u sure keyser? that wld be good it’ll probably make konami work harder to improve the graphics and commentating on Pro Evo

  45. dennisdamenace

Franchise – The reason we’ve dropped points so far this season is collectively we’re not bloody well good enough. The real worry point is not just the points lost, but the manner of the ‘performances’ and the opposition that we’ve lost the points against.

Last year our one saving grace was our midfield, everything else revolved around how the midfield played and the tempo it set. Our forwards ‘success’ (if that’s what you can call it) was based purely on the number of opportunities created by the midfield. The defence was and still is a bit of a joke at times.

This year we’ve basically got the same hit ‘n’ miss forward line, and we’ve basically got the same defensive line. However, our most reliable department has been decimated. And, it’s for this reason Cesc is a shadow from last season, because love ‘em or loathe ‘em Hleb and Flamini piss all over Eboue, Song AND Denilson.

Sorry fella, you’re obviously a fan of The Denster, i’m obviously not, as i continue to see him as no more than CC material, but i suppose that’s what’s good about footie, differing opinions……………….Chamon fella.

  46. Pedro

Keyser… we can’t afford to wait another couple of years.

If Arsenal want to continue to fill that stadium, they need to give the fans something to smile about.

Times are tough… how many people can afford a £1200 ticket to see a team do nothing year in year out?

You can say that they aren’t real fans… but they are… and they are growing tired of spending out huge amounts of money to be disappointed in the playing staff and the end of season haul.

You have to be realistic… West Ham don’t charge Arsenal prices becuase no one would go… the attendance so far tells you that people are already cherry picking games.

  47. Odub

Bought both last year, fifa was a waste of money. Bought every pro evo since the first 10 years ago….Sad!

But, it beats fifa every year hands down.

  48. kenny smith

Whats happened with michael rhodes? for his informaation im not slagging off our own i just think that some of the players have to admit they are not playing well at the moment rather than blaming it on experience all the time. Wenger should admit some of his tactics havent been great either and team selection

  49. Keyser

Franchise – Just what my mates and some reviews are supposed to be saying, unless the added power of the new generation consoles gives Pro Evo extra room for improvement, the last few titles haven’t had that much drastic change applied to them, they’ve tweaked it here and there.

That’s either because they’ve got a winning formula and don’t want to change it or the game engine doesn’t allow them to without affecting the gameplay.

  50. Pedro

In agreement… Denilson might be good one day and he is suitbable for CC… but until he works out his job on the pitch… we should try someone else.

  51. Paulinho

Everyone takes Nasri over Hleb? That’s great, but Cesc wouldn’t, and that’s what is important and pertinent to his current discontent.

The last pro evo I got was the 2005 one and people still say they have yet to reach those levels again. Last year’s was apparently rubbish and this year’s is only slightly better.

I think they should stick to one engine(2005) and just update the licenses and stadiums etc. I thought at the time that 2005 evo was nearly impossible to improve on gameplay wise, even though some prefer 2006.

  52. Odub

    Pedro,

    How you doing mate?

Are you and Geoff going to be at the S&B on saturday?

Will be meeting Bud b4 hand for ticket.

  53. Keyser

The attendance so far ? At worse it’ll only make the club the think twice about what their doing, but just saying people turn up for the trophies isn’t really fair is it, I go when I can, but my little brothers and cousins always want to go no matter what because they just love going, you want to be entertained, want to see a good match, good players, skills and goals.

  54. Franchise

I’m not a fan of denster but he is probably one player that currently gives his all. The stars of last season i.e. the Adebayors and Cescs and Sagnas have been very average this season i.e. in comparison to last.

  55. Pedro

Keyser, I’ll go for as long as I can… but things aren’t as rosy economically as they were and attendances are falling regardless of what you read officially.

If you charge the most expensive prices you have to ensure that fans are getting VFM becuase they invest a lot of time as well as money.

£1200 to see a team competeting is good value to most gooners… £1200 to see a team you knew would struggle, struggle… is not.

  56. Franchise

true keyser if arsenal remain in the top 4 the emirates is guaranteed to be a full house for the next three seasons at least. For whatever reasons I cant explain.

  57. Keyser

They need time to adapt to realise their own roles again within the team, if one player plays differently from last season or the formation changes it’s not going to work offhand, you work at it.

We played great as a team last season, not because of specific players.

  58. Odub

If we dont play well (and win) this weekend, I guarantee you many will think twice about spending their hard earned cash to watch an Arsenal game in the future.

Paying 35-120 quid for a game featuring a a team struggling for form, and containing some limited players is not everyone’s idea of money well spent.

  59. avenell

Spurs fill there stadium and they never make the top 4 or even the top 18 this year.
Are we saying they have more loyal supporters than us then,

I bet there season tickets are not far of our prices..

  60. Keyser

Pedro – Everyone’s different and they’ll want different things, it’s a day out for some, look at the amount of families that turn up to games now, they can drop prices offer other incentives, in your opinion how much does the Emirates experience differe from Highbury ?!

What is value for money ? How long do you think all these other clubs can afford to charge lower prices when they continually get themselvesinto debt, I’ve heard Tottenham’s prices are quite high aswell, what’s value for money in their case ?!

  61. Paulinho

Keyser, it works both ways. The system is important but the players more so. We saw last season with a weakened squad in Prague, Seville, Boro away, Newcastle away, that the system only takes you so far. If you took certain players away from our team last season, Wengerball went down the drain.

I think we should win this sat, quite comfortably. Nasri, Cesc, RVP all should enjoy themselves. If we don’t, geez, things are worse than first thought.

  62. Odub

    Avenell,

Your average spud fan has the brain capacity of an amoeba. Even if the place burnt down or they moved grounds the morons would still keep going to whl expecting to see a game! Nothing to do with loyalty, they just dont know better!

So no we can’t be compared to spuds fans!!

And please dont try and do that again! :)

  63. BB

will have to ask in my firm when our corporate seats are up for renewal??
would be interesting .. not that I go much on them, but if we find ourselves in the middle of a credit crisis + form slump, then Arsenal can forget of getting same money as when sold originally .. no big stars.. average entertainment.. where is the glamour??

sometimes, when you try and do things on the cheap as Wenger does, you end up with nothing .. this is the year where we will end up getting haunted by this

its all Wenger’s fault .. he is an EXTREMIST .. and he will go down like they all do

  64. avenell

Odub .. Take the rivalry out of it, If we cannot fill our ground because we finish outside the top 4 would be a sad state of affairs.

I thought you chose your team for life, not because they win bits of silver..

  65. Keyser

Paulinho – Your right it does work both ways, but it’s too easy pointing to those games as it doesn’t give an accurate depiction, too many factors can affect the way you play, players can’t be dropped in like that and be expected to fit in seemlessly, it took 3 years for the likes of Hleb and Flamini to find their niche within the team and even then they weren’t complete players.

The only way we’ll have a more convincing representation of the system is if we’d taken 20 youngsters of some skill and brogh them through the academy together at all ages and then thrust them into the premiership.

It’ll be good to see how the Carling Cup team gets on against Wigan, but it’ll take a whole host many more games to find out how good they really are.

I don’t think it’ll be comfortable, why should it, but if we play the same formation and team again we’ll see if they can work out the problems within the team.

  66. Franchise

But guys you know Fabregas’ comments are overboard. If he’s moaning about loosing brothers and friends then he can piss off. He is 21 and being paid thousands of pounds weekly to play for arsenal. Tis is one problem I have with our players, they talk too much to the press every1 wants to be on TV. LAst year we had not won shit and ev1 was giving all sort of interviews about how lovely the football we play is and bla bla bla…. If only they shut up their mouths u never know….. Now things are not going well and they open their mouths to chat shit. How many times do u hear xris ronaldo, rooney, hargreaves chatting about how manure has won more titles than arsenal eh…

BB – No big stars ? Average Entertainment ? What do you want from it all ?!

Is it any wonder Wenger spends little in the middile of a credit crisis.

  68. Franchise

Hopefully at some stage this season our midfild would consist of

    a) Nasri – Fab – Diaby – Rosicky

I would take that anyday over

    b) Rosicky – Fab -Flamini – Hleb

So hopefully by January our midfield would look like a)

  69. Odub

    Avenell,

I know the point you’re trying to make mate, and it is a valid one. You do however have to consider that it would be easier to fill a stadium their size as opposed to one ours.

    Hi Guys…. been a while…. again.

Top post…. to be honest myself and a lot of the long time posters on this blog were saying all summer what Fab has just said and i personally am glad it is Fab that has said something… maybe the boss will take note of his opinion if not the fans.

On the PES09 V Fifa09 debate…. On 360 i downloaded the demos for both and being a big PES fan i was very dissapointed that i actually found Fifa to be a much more realistic and enjoyable game this year. With all of Fifa’s additions to online play and single player game modes it has finally got it’s nose in front in my opinion… PES has became the arcade game while Fifa has become the football Sim

  71. Franchise

I think its hi time Wenger takes the captaincy (or possibility of captaincy) from all these juke boxes and give it to Alumnia, Sagna or Clichy.

  72. insidealbania

Franchise you are spot on, if they have issues surely they can go and speak to the boss face to face. There is no need to go and speak to the media under any circumstance. If anything it shows lack of team spirit

  73. Franchise

Inside Albania well said. I dont think Fabregas has the right to say nethin in that regard cos he’s won us fuck all. he’s been pretty average this season and he should worry about how to improve his play. Who cares if Pleb is like ur brother or Flamini. Im so disgusted now.

  74. Confidentgoner

If anything the credit crunch will more corporate take up of football stadium seats as this is cheap corporate hospitality for most firms. It helps to take executive minds off business, energizing them on the cheap. Now who says corporations don’t like things on the cheap?

  75. avenell

The thing is Odub, because of Wenger with his pretty football and the sucess we have had in first 8 years of him being manager we have attracted a different type of fan.

He/she is used to being entertained and winning things, but as soon as we don’t they will go and support Chelsea or Man U or go to the cinema.
Spuds and West Ham have kept a more loyal fanbase.

It’s why there is no atmosphere in the stadium, they don’t give a toss about Arsenal really, but Arsenal have priced the real fans out of going.

I would love to go back to terraces and give football back to the fans, I have to accept that won’t ever happen but Arsenal have gone the commercial route and if it doesn’t work they are f**ked.

  76. Franchise

Im probably overeacting but if Barca offer 22-25million for Cesc next season I would sell him fast. There are far more experienced heads that would could do what he does probably even more. Van de Vart would have cost us less than £8 mill if we went for him. Im tired of being held ransom by players comments. I think for the fact that we refuse to buy players for exorbitant amounts of money that they think they dont owe the club or its fans nething. Rooney knows that if he is unhappy at Manure that any1 that wants him would have to at least pay exactly what was paid for him or even more. So what does he do he accepts tha climate he is in. I dont think United players went paint ballin last season but they did the double.

  77. Seb

We have been unlucky with injuries this season and last imo.

Last season with the Rosicky Cesc Flam Hleb midfield, if Eduardo hadn’t been injured I am certain he would have made himself undroppable, and with that midfield he would have scored a sackload of goals. But we all know what happened, we fell apart.

This season Nasri was off to a flyer, but he got injured and so Cesc hasn’t had a quick-minded technical passer to play with, which has obviously emphasised the loss of Hleb, and to a lesser extenet Flamini. And of course no Tomas is a big blow, he was just as integral to Cesc’s game as Hleb was.

Cesc is just feeling the same pain we are, call it lack of depth in the squad, whatever. Once Nasri Rosicky and Diaby start playing, he will be able to pass himself to orgasm every game. but without them, it’s a bit sterile. Theo is a very different type of player, Eboue is never going to be at the same level as those others, Denilson isn’t Flamini forcing Cesc to defend more, and Song is a lumbering defensive player who isn’t playing like he did for Cameroon.

At least Nasri and Diaby should be available against Everton.

  78. avenell

Pedro… They must think so because they wanted to move to a 55,000 seater stadium.

But they don’t need to, we do we took the gamble.

On the Cesc debate, I wouldn’t swap him for any other player in the world.

  79. Keyser

Pedro – So he’s going to now in the middle of a credit crisis ?!

Wenger has spent money before, people just look across at United or Chelsea and think thats the way we should be going, it’s never that simple.

  80. Odub

    Avenell,

I think you’ll find there’s about 40,000 that turn up every game that are true gooners, and there’s another 20,000 who only come for the day out. They’d stop coming and get replaced.

So , we’d still fill the stadium, and the board will keep indulging AW and his experiments because they’d still be in the money!

  81. Franchise

True Seb but my point is there is already enough negativity in the air he needs to be more professional with his comments

  82. Keyser

Franchise – I think you are over-reacting, we don’t even know what Fabgregas was asked, last year there was some interview with Gallas in GQ, which they probably sold on to The Sun, it hadn’t even been released and yet over the coure of a couple of months they used extracts to make up bullshit stories about Gallas.

  83. Pedro

Keyser, football is in it’s own little bubble… there is no credit crisis at Arsenal.

£70million in the bank isn’t going to vanish over night.

Avenell, Wigan have a 20,000 seater stadium they thought they’d fill… they don’t though, do they?

People look at Manu and Chelsea and say… yeah, they do things the right way.

Maybe not Chavski… but they still buy quality and reap the rewards.

  84. kelsey

1.9 million unemployed rising to 3 million by 2010.house prices worst affected in UK are inLondon.Fact.

Must have repercussions, corporate companies are already cutting back, ask anyone on here who works for one.

As to football,I made my point this morning, and most of us are saying the same thing. It has nothing to do with supporting the club if we don’t win silverware,we are supporters for life.Any successful club in London will always have a boost of paying customers, the floating fans.On the other hand look at Chelsea, how often their ground is barely 3/4 full.

i think if you want to be ultra critical, our first team is basically our reserve team with a sprinkling of experienced first teamers.

  85. Keyser

They do things the right way ? All it is, is money, thats all nothing else, they spend money we cannot afford to simple as that.

    70million ?!

  86. Franchise

Dont get me wrong guys I love Fabregas but I can imagine him saying those words, In reality there’s nothin wrong with what he said, he got it spot on but comments like those shows signs of giving up after a few league games. At some point last season chelsea were 12 points behind arsenal with the same no. of games played. The battled through their injury crisis with Baron Greenback as their manager and fought until the very end. It took more than ability to do that but the will to fight until the last

  87. Odub

    Avenell,

Point 1 was people would stop going who cant be bothered to watch us not winning anything.

Point 2 we would still fill the stadium becaue there’s a waiting list as long as Mr Fantastic!

    Clear enough? :)

  88. Pedro

Keyser, I know I say this every week… look at the damn financials!

They are last years… £70million in cash surplus.

Now look at the news about this years financial figures and you’ll see that we made even more money… so it wouldn’t be crazy to suggest we have even more money in the pot this time around.

So in short, we can afford it. Don’t listen to Wengers spiel… listen to Danny.
