Offside Eboue off the mark at last!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Who cares eh? Its about time we got a bit of luck, after going one down and hitting the post twice it was looking like one of those days, then Eboue came to the rescue, almost pushing Ade out of the way to do it too.

I thought he had a good game and even Song had a good shot so there’s improvement in those departments, I hope Clichy isn’t out for too long as we don’t have great cover there, I guess we have Gibbs and Silvestre, but Silvestre has been injured since we bought him so get well soon Gael.

I think it’s time to make Theo a feature, when he came on we played better and their defence panicked, so I would like to see him feature more, not sure why Robin didn’t play but Bendtner scored so it’s irrelevant.

Being top of the league is fantastic but is made even better seeing the spuds at the bottom, and in this, their breaking into the top four at our expense year!

We played great yesterday, showed character and came back from a goal down so I can only think happy today, if we can just get the injured players back we will be unbeatable, imagine a bench with Nasri, Diaby, Rosicky, Van Persie, Eduardo and Bishcoff on it! We would terrorise the premiership.

Hey and I didn’t even mention Silvestre!

Other news is Hill Wood wouldn’t accept £100 million for Cesc, mmm, not sure I believe you there but at least you’re trying to send out a hands off message so well done Mr Chairman.

Europe fought back in the Ryder Cup yesterday, surely the Americans can’t be that lucky three days on the trot, so let’s have a big win today boys, Poulter is a gooner and it would have made his day that we are top of the league, so he’ll be playing on aviation fuel today.

Have a great day Grovers and pray for a nil-nil draw at Stamford bridge for the perfect end to a perfect weekend.

In the Setanta rating Clichy got a 6 !! Did he get points deducted for allowing a Northern Monkey to cripple him ?

And so did Song, who had a fine game.

What do these people atch.? All our players had good games. WG had another lapse, but otherwise I give the whole team an 8.5.

And fairplay to Bolton, who made it such an exciting game in the second half. They could have jsut defended and tried to limit their defeat, but instead they really gave us a game.

  2. Evo in Oz

Big Rad – agreed on the ratings bollocks, i pissed my pants reading that, the setanta bloke must have been on the hash again

  3. ethangunner

    man U are in 15th position ! with 4 points !

chelski who have recruited well and have plenty of strength need to loose ! they have 10 points !
and will go top of the table on 13 if they win !
its a no brainer alright !

chelski wont drop as many points as either us or Man U !
they play defensively and grind out 1 – 0 nils like a production line !
its important to see them drop as many points as possible !

even wenger and furgie are on side with this !
they didnt compliment each other this week for nothing !
they are Untied amongst a common enemy !

However chevski has like over 100 games unbeaten record at home !
and if man U can do it .. it will give us some breathing space ..

  4. david

I thought Bolton only gave us a game in the second half because of Wengers tatics of having no wingers and then having no wing backs after half time.
Why not just replace the left back or move Gallas over and bring Djourou on in his place.
Sagna could then get at them down 1 flank..

  5. ethangunner

    BR

    8.5 is MoM !
not sure everyone deserves it ..
but stand outs were alumina – denilson – song .. quite a good showing from the lesser
    players !

some people didnt rate alumina’s game but for me he made some blinders !
he dealt very well with the tall timber doing there typical bolton style crowding to unsettle the keeper on set plays… jens would be throwing punches ! and alumina was patting backs !

  6. finestcuts

This is the best way of reading Ethan’s posts, imagine a really loud self opinionated drunk bloke in a pub with an Aussie accent, a bit of a drawl……you Ozzie’s could probably get the impression spot on….and there you have it!

  7. ethangunner

    david
i thought that too .. move gallas over .. end of !
not sure why wenger didnt rate johan to play left center ! or just go LB !
im being converted on song however ..

he made a few mistakes .. and he doesnt compliment cesc too well YET !
but he covered the back 4 pretty well !

  8. Bud

I’m with David… I want a Manc win so Chelsea’s home record and the mental advantage it gives them broken…. Plus Big Al and The Arse are now big buddies and the ex Govern madman has said nice things about us and wants his big mate and his team that play football the right way to win the league!!!!

  9. ethangunner

    finest your a child !
just shows you , how old you are !
you know nothing about me !!
and you would be very sadly mistaken !

  10. Big Raddy

    True Ethan.

MOM for me is a 9.

El Tel is almost as anti-Blondie, as you you are anti-Ade. But if even you can say TT had a decent game, then perhaps ElTel can give plaudits when they are due. I thought Almunia was outstanding yesterday. His shot-svaing was great, his distribution first class, his positional play was good. Plus he really orchestrated his defence.

Perhaps we really do have a first-class keeper. Though time will tell.

  11. Mandanda

lol i find all this blog fights quite..esp if the fighters are full grown adults!!!

    as for football,

i am really looking forward to the carling cup game, would like to see the future…would like to see coquelin play, he was quite impressive in pre-season

  12. Keyser

Great game yesterday, we got through some torrid Bolton play where they threw everything at us in the second half and as soon as they start to tire, we throw Walcott on and you could see them all thinking that he was the one to chase.

It may only be Bolton but it’s something and when players who have taken stick in the past start to step their game up it can only be good for the team.

Eboue, Song and Adebayor all had good games, it really showed how hard Adebayor works for the team, he was even less selfish then normal and though he didn’t score showed how if you don’t score as a striker there’s still plenty of other ways to have a good game.

Also Bendtner looked sharp where as last season he looked like he was still on Championship timing. Anyway hope we can keep this up and even if we lose a game the fans don’t lose heart as quick as they’ve been to see the good points.

  13. ethangunner

    BR

alumina loses his nerve in the big games come the end of the season !
thats my only criticism of him for me ! he makes mistakes when the chips are down !

but with a game that has little pressure in it , it brings out his best ..
maybe that was because of jens on his back !

but we do have a class keeper , his name is fabianski !

  14. Bud

In which case I don’t agree with David…. Anyway give me a break Ethan old chum…. Am drunk in a bar in the Costa del Lanzarote tapping away on me Blackberry ignoring my wife !!!

    Manc win please !!!

  15. ethangunner

    Keyser

ade played the game of his life yesterday !
passing with skill ! good vision ! good runs that saw him chalking up only 2 off sides the whole game!
unselfish play ! he deserved his spot yesterday ! lets hope for more of the same !!!

  16. rico01

Raddy – Mum – I like that, and I wish he was my son, either that or……………. ;)

kelsey – just a thought, check your Spam mail, thats where mine went from Pedro, but how rude to send Pedro’s email to Spam, when it is so important ;)

  17. ethangunner

    bud ,

I .. like you understand the need to break the will of the chevs !
they got off to a blinder and need the reality check !

man U are on 4 points the chevs are on 10 .. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out
what is more favorable to us !

  18. Keyser

ethangunner – I think people are harsh on him, he scored 30 goals last season, two of the best volleys ever, and he still can’t shoot.

If he improves half as much as he did last season he’ll be awesome, We’re more of a team then ever, instead of relying on the individual as much as we have in the past.

As long as people work hard and do the simple things right they don’t have to have spectacular games all the time because it gives someone else the chance to shine instead.

  19. Evo in Oz

how many league titles have chelsea won in the last 1 years? oh yeah, Man U have the edge there as i seem to remember then winning it. case closed!

  20. kelsey

what’s going on here, where is/are the moderators.just had our best week in ages and the whole forum has turned into a personal duel between three and now two people. Not my place as i am fairly new, wind ups and jokes and light hearted banter and difference of opinion is fine, but swearing at a fellow gooner is against the rules.
The end result is that people are backing off posting on here today as this back stabbing is going on indefinitely

  21. kelsey

rico i called you lady of the house last night.on reflection not the best of phrases.i checked my spam, nothing, where is pedro he has gone awol :)

  22. ethangunner

kelsey its been said its over stop making a drama of it !!
    i didnt start it !
but i sure as hell aint gonna sit here and have my words twisted either !

  23. Bud

Kelsey, we drew against a crap Ukranian side as our strikers were crap… All the same the week finished well… Anyway Ethan and Finest will make up, they always do… They are like married couple and in every marraige the time of the month can cause a strain but it does not mean they no longer love each other…

    Anyway,come on the Mancs!!!!

  24. Big Raddy

Why can’t we just leave it alone. All the people involved could/should just drop this.

Kelsey …. I am loathe to post my email address – there are some dodgy people reading tis site !!. Sorry. I will ask Pedro to re-send my contact details. Sorry

  25. charlies barber

first post on here, thought it would be about arsenal
but its not!! are we all gooners? ethan-you need to calm
down, take a chill pill, get out in the sunshine and stop being so
aggresive.methinks you have may have issues!finest-keep
up the good work!anyway game on and mancs to win.

  26. Big Raddy

    Bud,

I am deeply envious of you in your sunny bar. Have a great holiday.

Come on Ref. Send one of the bastards off. Don’t mind which side. Let’s see the media frenzy.

    What a miss by Ferdinand

  27. this year for sure

    kelsey

    no offense to you,

i may be mistaken here but some people have been mean to you on this site before and it is wrong, i wont be one of them.

  28. kelsey

this year for sure,no one to my knowledge has been mean to me ,only been here about 3/4 weeks.

don’t anyone critise almunia, half hour gone cech made the mistake for the goal, and van der saar is shit as usual :)

  29. hounddog

I have always believed that Almunia has never been given the credit that he is due. Yesterday, while being fouled, he simply patted the guy on the back and got on with the game. Lehmann would have gone crazy. I think that Almunia does what he has to do when called upon and has a good raport with the defense.

  30. Evo in Oz

hounddog – agreed. i noticed those small things too. makes the difference sometimes. he is quite athletic too and good reaction times also!

  31. kelsey

Glad we didn’t resign the nomad anelka,i think he has scored 3 league goals since january

Bud coronita and lemon to you too :)

  32. Pedro

    Afternoon Grovers!

Great victory yesterday, fantastic effort by the boys!

Almunia was excellent again… and after watching Cech drop another clanger, I’m glad he is ours!

  33. ethangunner

fergie will let the boy run loose after the break ! ronaldo will come on !
i would take scholes off ! no point in going down to 10 men !

  34. Geoff

Okay guys I leave you all alone and it all goes off, let’s forget what’s gone on before and the first person who starts again goes into moderation to cool off.

  35. Pedro

I see there are a few, ‘How did you ever doubt Arsene’ posts.

Last time I checked, we’d only played a few games and we’ve lost one of them to Fulham.

I think it is a bit premature to start waxing over Arsene this early in the year. It took until Feb last year for it all to collapse…

The main complaint about the squad is that it lacks depth… my opinion of that still hasn’t changed. We all know they can play football… but when the injuries start to stack up… that is when the problems come.

Overall though, I was really pleased. Beating Bolton after going one down is no easy task.

    Onwards and upwards!

  36. chris

    hi guys,

was at the match yesterday with 30 coach loads of irish supporters, the travelling gunners must have got a shock to see so much re-inforcements even if they didnt know the chants!

  37. finestcuts

I don’t believe I’m guilty of anything other than criticising Ethan, if I get moderated for that then fair enough, I didn’t realise it was OK for Ethan to pop a strop and that he is immune to criticism, and that I can get done for it. One rule for Ethan?

  38. hounddog

Ethangunner, what went on between us was handbags but I think you owe finestcuts an appology for calling him a cunt. I thought that was not allowed on here?

  39. rico01

Hey Bud – Estrella is much better than San Miquel for me, its crisper and drier, i thought they only sold that in Spain and Balearics – You lucky ol’ devil…. I love it…

Who honestly thinks we are NOT capable of beating either of these two sides, and we still have a lot more in the engine and a good few players to reach peak… Oh, and return from injury…………..

Boy, I wish we could have stolen Alex from The Chavs :(

  40. rico01

Sir Mike Riley – I hope you have dished enough cards out to ensure that many Chavs and Manure players are banned by the time we play them….

And, Has that S***e Andy Gray become a Chelsea supporter suddenly???? Tosser :)

  41. Geoff

Finest the point is to move on, if you come back with anything it just makes it go on, my comment was just to try and get back to having fun, so we are now top of the league, let’s enjoy that.

  42. kelsey

I always maintained Berbatov was a luxury and nothing has changed my mind after seeing his first two games.

Out of interest isn’t the ref meant to give 3 sharp short whistles to end the game. :)

  43. Mandanda

Great match great result for us…the chavs are looking good I have to say, we’d have to finish above them to win the league!

  44. ethangunner

well we are still ahead but ,
chelsea are still the only unbeaten club in the EPL !
they are still the ones to beat .. Man U are flat ..

  45. finestcuts

No probs Geoff, to me the guy is backward first he comes out with:

i do not say to you i disagree with you TOTALLY finest , i think im right your wrong ..
but i wont debate it with you !
so drop the subject matter !!

    ——

    then

    this year for sure

this is football not dear danny ,
if you cant handle a heated debate take up knitting !

    ———————-

He responds in a way that would get AKB’s moderated, then he accuses people of having an “AKB” mentality when all he wants is for people to tolerate his stupid insults.

He’s a big man when it comes to giving it out but he sure as hell can’t handle it, or his drink.

  46. ethangunner

finest get over it ! you big girls blouse !
you started the insults calling me an alcoholic !
That’s a fucking insult in my books !
you got the appropriate action !

Which is clearly not the case ! AGAIN FOR THE HARD OF HEARING
i dont drink at home .. never have, unless im entertaining or partying !

like geoff says drop it !!!!
and again you mention drink !!!
Water off a ducks back to me mate !!!

  47. ethangunner

    finestcuts Says:

Ethan it’s blind hatred, you’re blatantly an alcoholic who’s always pissed sitting at the puter.

LONG BEFORE I CALLED YOU ANYTHING !!!!

  48. finestcuts

Ethan get yourself off to your ladyboy and get over it, you’re not beyond criticism, you’re just a bigoted muppet.

    I’ve dropped it.

  49. finestcuts

Ethan you puss, I can fire back, don’t be so sensitive, off to the t-girl club now..
    That’s what you’re there for.

  50. finestcuts

    ethangunner Says:

so get your fucking facts straight sonny boy !

I think Ethan you swore at me first, take your own advice….and learn to read …bigoted….adjective before the noun.

You only need one question mark by the way.

  51. goonermichael

    1652: Full-time Tottenham 0-0 Wigan
Dull, dreary and with hardly any decent chances to describe. All is not well at White Hart Lane.

Do you feel sorry for them?

  52. ethangunner

    georgiaan

it is funny but we are only 5 games into the season ..
its a bit soon to think they will face relegation dont you :) ?

  53. Mandanda

why don’t we just leave ethan and his mates to continue their e-fight…its getting really interesting now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  54. Mean Lean

Rosicky, Eduardo, Diaby, Silvestre, Nasri and Bishcoff all to come back and we’re brushing aside teams that we have struggled with in the past. I’ve backed us to win the league since pre season and i will continue to.

If Wenger wins the league without buying any players does it mean that he knows? Just wondering like.

  55. patthegooner

Fuck me its been a bit tasty in here today

So pleased I havent got a Pompey defender in my dream team, Although I think Anelka is out, he is shit when he is not in an Arsenal Shirt.

So the Spuds bottom with 2 Points, do you think they will sack Ramos? Surprised myself, they have some good players on paper, maybe they just changed too much in the Summer and it isnt gelling together.

As for us, happy at the moment, I am still concerned in the middle, Denilson shows promise but keeps playing sloppy passes which is fine against Bolton but not against your Liverpools, Man Ure’s and Chavski’s, cant argue with his effort and goals though. And I am still concerened that any more injuries in there and we are really scraping the barrell. Bad news about Rosicky, I thought he would be back by now, and not discussing pain killers with Eduardo, Diaby and Nasri. Looks like the Fulham game did us a a massive favour.

  56. kelsey

I posted this morning about an article today about Ramos, that he hates living in london and the rain(Hleb part 2) and that he did not see eye to eye with the board, and it was a case of him thinking of leaving and going back to Spain, rather than being sacked.Today’s result wont help.

It’s been a great weekend and even Noel Edmunds is wearing guyliner on deal or no Deal, right now :)

  57. ethangunner

    Pat

the huge win against bolton brings all the AKB out ..
you know how it it with there delusional rants !

shame chevski didnt get rolled ! it would have been nice to deflate some egos
but they are still undefeated and still in the drivers seat …
we have had some favorable fixtures so far ..
liverpool played man U chevski played amn U .. we lost to fulham ..
lets keep things in perspective 5 games in shall we !

  58. patthegooner

    Mean Lean

If we win the league and I always hope we will then Wenger most definately does know.

Just cant see it, it is a great start and I will enjoy that but I still think we will run out of gas again at the business end of the Season.

  59. patthegooner

    No I agree Ethan

We will see what happens in those run of matches against the other top 4 clubs.

I would love it if we won it but I still think it is still too much to ask of this squad. It would take un-believeable luck on the injury front to keep us strong till May.

  60. ethangunner

    pat

here here ! a voice of logic !
history is on our side ! some people just sound foolish ..
thinking after bolton we are king of the world !

i do think we can get some mileage out of staying in the hunt if wenger takes
winning the easier games seriously !
and doesnt start doing his typical lets rest cesc – nasri and all the other key players for the C.L !
and gets rolled by easy opponents !
anything is possible if he stays focused on the EPL !

but you know he wont !

  61. kelsey

patthegooner, forget about Rosicky, unlikely we will ever see him again, shame a great talent, but plagued with injuries.I agree about Denilson, but if you take the game yesterday there were up to 7/8 players who could have scored.I see no problem with that instead of depending on a Henry or Adebayor to score the most, actually i see it as a positive. One CD needed to bolster the defencemaybe Silvestre will fill that roll short term.We are an attacking side and maybe the idea is if they score we will score 2.of course Chelsea have such strength in depth,I feel they will set the benchmark this season.Anywa not many of us thought after Fulham,we would be were we are today, and winning breeds confidence.

  62. ethangunner

chelsea is just a scary machine ..

deco out drogba in .. the kalou in ..
there are too strong .. man U is more beatable this season !
and look very shaky ! but scoring 1st at chevskis home was always going to be hard to hang on !
shame , i would of loved them to look more human , and eat a loss !

and most importantly break there 4 year at home record !!!

  63. ethangunner

    kelsey

i think you can forget dudu for a while also ! its a shame offensively he would be handy !
like you said all we can do is hold our nerve and breed confidence !
i hope its not a case of peaking early again this season !

  64. hounddog

I am getting really confused here. Why are people being refered to as AKB’s simply because some are taking the positives out of beating Bolton? I have not read anyone shouting the fact we will win the league because of it or anything about Wenger being the greatest? Yet it appears some amongst us simply don’t want to enjoy the outcome of this weekend.

Let’s at least hope things improve in the Ryder cup for Europe.

  65. rico01

And women are meant to be the one’s that gossip and bicker ;) !!

hounddog – it was a bloody good win and a a ground we hate to go to, I am and will remain positive :)

jeepers, if things get negative now with some, what will it be like IF we get beat, and as said earlier and yesterday, we have many players that are either not on fire or to regaing fitness, i really hold hope for this season…. :)

Guys who want to conduct a verbal fight – is it not right to show respect for Geoff and Pedro who give everything to Le Grove, and for what ………

US is the answer to that, they do it for us…. and we all know there is NO better place to talk about our FINE club – please, for the sake of them and us, shake hands, kiss and make up…………. :)

  66. hounddog

Rico. That is exactly my point, as you say, it was a bloody good win at a ground we hate to go to!! Therefore People should not be refered to as AKB’s simply because they are enjoying the moment. For those who dont understand, the win at Bolton was a very positive thing and we should all be enjoying that, nothing more nothing less :-)
