Who cares eh? Its about time we got a bit of luck, after going one down and hitting the post twice it was looking like one of those days, then Eboue came to the rescue, almost pushing Ade out of the way to do it too.
I thought he had a good game and even Song had a good shot so there’s improvement in those departments, I hope Clichy isn’t out for too long as we don’t have great cover there, I guess we have Gibbs and Silvestre, but Silvestre has been injured since we bought him so get well soon Gael.
I think it’s time to make Theo a feature, when he came on we played better and their defence panicked, so I would like to see him feature more, not sure why Robin didn’t play but Bendtner scored so it’s irrelevant.
Being top of the league is fantastic but is made even better seeing the spuds at the bottom, and in this, their breaking into the top four at our expense year!
We played great yesterday, showed character and came back from a goal down so I can only think happy today, if we can just get the injured players back we will be unbeatable, imagine a bench with Nasri, Diaby, Rosicky, Van Persie, Eduardo and Bishcoff on it! We would terrorise the premiership.
Hey and I didn’t even mention Silvestre!
Other news is Hill Wood wouldn’t accept £100 million for Cesc, mmm, not sure I believe you there but at least you’re trying to send out a hands off message so well done Mr Chairman.
Europe fought back in the Ryder Cup yesterday, surely the Americans can’t be that lucky three days on the trot, so let’s have a big win today boys, Poulter is a gooner and it would have made his day that we are top of the league, so he’ll be playing on aviation fuel today.
Have a great day Grovers and pray for a nil-nil draw at Stamford bridge for the perfect end to a perfect weekend.

On a closing note for the day, as my dinner is about ready
Special thanks to Geoff and Pedro for their hard work in order to make this the best site in town. I guess some of us don’t make life easy for them.
Have a nice evening everyone and remember, no matter how upset we may get at each other, “we are top of the fucking league”
Also, I would be more peeeeeeeeeed off if we drew at home to Wigan this season…
Tee Hee
Sadly, it is not going so well in the Golf.
But how much better could the w/e gone for the Arse.
Top of the table. Spurs bottom. MU injuries, Chavs lose Deco in the warm up.
Happy Days….
hounddog – enjoy your meal, anything nice??
Tomorrow is a new day, Happy Mondays
Raddy – you are watching the golf , me too – I fear Geoff will be on his way to a hangover if we win, although is he not one of those lucky ones who doesnt suffer them .
Europe will pluck this win out against all the odds – and a happy weekend will be completed
rico don’t start with him about food, you will never hear the end of it.
yippppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee kelsey – i love food, and love talking about it…. Yummie
Look, I am not interested in conducting a verbal fight, I was responding and criticising to someone who put on a strop, started swearing and insulting me, maybe I should just allow it.
I’ll tell you what, since I am partly responsible since I have stood up for myself, and my actions are seen as not showing respect for Le Grove, I will moderate myself, take some time out as suggested and leave it at that, I’ll save everyone the trouble and the time of having to do it for me.
I have better things to do than to argue with someone who puts an exclamation mark at the end of each statement, calls other people delusional etc. but cannot take criticism themselves.
The individual I argued with takes offence at anything, has a strop and then I’m the bad guy for responding, not a problem.
We’re top of the league, that’s the main thing, I apologise to management for having to read this bullshit as I know that’s what it is.
When the cat’s away, the mice bitch -.-
finest – pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese dont go, you are just one of many who I love to have a bit banter with
There’s been a fai ramount of flaming going on here lately – just goes to show that no matter what the topic of a forum is there will always be that element to it, and I’ll continue to do what is best in that situation and ignore the inflammatorty talk.
However, seeing the psuds get booed off their home pitch at half and full time warms the very cockles of my heart. You’d have to have a hear tof stone not to laugh at the travails of the spuds – yes, it’s only 5 games in and things can change very quickly, but if the spuds loose at the barcoodes in the mickey mouse cup this week then the early season optimism for the cro magnon maen of N17 wil evaporate like the exhaust fumes from the taxis of their annual departing managers.
And why shouldn’t we rejoice in the misfortune of the spuds – would they offer us any sympathy if we were at the bottom of the table ?
Not bloody likely !
seb
I like that chary
Finest.
That is not the point. No-one wants you to moderate yourself (well,…. I am taking the role of spokesman for Le Grove !).
You are a valued member of the site, and I enjoy your insights. As do many others.
However, if you do decide to take some time out, please be assured that you will be welcomed back.
Seb. On the subject of heated discussion.
I thought you handled your spat with the idiot Jules1 with dignity and restraint.
Well done
May I add to Rico and Radders’ thoughts as I value considered debate and well expressed thoughts also.
Raddy – you are so bloomin right – but I say this and who ever has the head that this cap fits… so be it
No-one who comments on this site has the devine right to ‘slag off’ any other bloggers comment, or be rude about any views. As per the Le Grove rules…. You know who you are, and please, is it really worth it ?? Is it really fair ?? And if you were like that in a Pub, you would no dobt get a smack in the choppers!!
Le Grove posts the most comments, more probably than any other club, not just our own.. Lets not as individuals, or as one drive, long standing respected folk away….
Come On, are we not united for our club ???
Mean Lean, if Arsene wins the league… of course he knows. I’ll be over the moon.
If Arsenal lose a game, will you be back here saying… does Arsene know, I was just wondering? I couldn’t find your comment that said that after the Fulham/Kiev game?
The season is a long old stretch and as fantastic as our start has been… lets not get to far ahead of ourselves. We should have won all of our games… as we haven’t played a good team yet. Bolton don’t have Allardyce anymore and Blackburn have lost Hughes. They are not the same beasts anymore.
I am sure we’ll have a great year, but getting all ‘I told you so’ after a good run is a bit silly. I am very positive about the upcoming year… Denilson has shocked me to the core, Eboue is becoming a cult hero and Song looked ok.
Happy days. Lets hope we keep on building from here!
Oh, and Le Grove backed the team for the league as well…
Also, on the topic of argument – this isn’t a site for bitching at each other. I don’t want anyone leaving the site so next week I am going be at my PC all day everyday moderating like the Chinese government.
I apologise if things have got out of hand this week, Geoff and I have been very busy but rest assured, petulance and argumentative behaviour stops as of now.
We are all supposed to be buddies, and I would appreciate it people could put there differences behind them and get on!
I don’t even understand the heated nature of the forum today… we just won?
I am off for some food and some beer. Catch you in a bit Grovers!
P.S COME ON EUROPE!
Cheers
Pedro – Take a bow
You to Rico, great comment!
I was considering becoming more involved with this blog instead of just reading it, but Ethangunner has become totally disturbing for me. Frankly, he behaves like an internet bully and comes across as arrogant and possibly even mentally unstable. It’s not a great advert for this blog for shy gunners looking for an internet home to feel comfortable in.
i have NEVER taken offense to debate ! or an opposing view !
but when certain parties say i want wenger out ! When I DON’T ! (the board maybe ! )
and put words in my mouth such as that ! ! i will rally to defend myself !!!!
or call me an alcoholic for no reason ! when they know nothing about me , again
i will rally to defend myself !!!!
QUOTE
you’re blatantly an alcoholic who’s always pissed
i know how geoff would take that abuse !
Rico – so what are you having for dinner tonight ? I have a sinking feeing I’ll have to do the cooking again.
chary – i have just scoffed a home made quiche, coleslaw, a few chippers and chilli sauce – some may say not so good, but it was yummy…… i want more
Pedro – Call the police, your avatar has been stolen
And
ethan – please please just let it go, start tomorrow a fresh…..
Be a man my son, be a man
Rico – I’m tending towards some veggy burritos, with green peppers and marinated tofu chunks instead of mincemeat naturellement.
My only dilemma is whether to go for a soured cream topping or single cream. what would be better for the melted cheese on top as my boys aren’t too keen on the guacomole you’re supposed to use with burritos.
I think Pedro hasn’t logged into his wordpress account – hence no avatar.
I love you all as brothers and sister. As for Bobby Pires, that’s a different kind of wierd hetro man love, he makes my bits warm! C’mon tell the truth who’s with me?
rico !
im 100x the man ! trust me !!!
but its you guys who keep on going about it !
so ENOUGH ! please !!!
it wasnt you who was told your a drunk or go see a lady boy etc !
so please be a woman and drop it …
ta
is that the real pedro?
I think it is Choy – seems to have the same tone as Pedro at any rate.
oki charyb.. who was your MOTM yest?
I was only got to see the brief highlights on Match of the Day and we all know how editing can give a distorted view of how the match actually went, but I did see a number of good saves from Almunia, so I would tend towards him as MOM as he kept us in the game when Bolton came on strong.
Well the spuds have finally got level with the toothpick
Yes Kelsy, but still not equal with a pitchfork !
Hi Grovers,
I haven’t had much to say on this site recently as everyone’s been saying it for me. In light of the ‘discussion’ that has been raging today, I’d like to just add my word of appreciation.
Sadly I have only recently discovered Le Grove, but I can categorically state that it is head and shoulders above any other arsenal blog site. The passion often erupts into argument but one thing is for sure – you guys and gals all really have Arsenal in your blood.
Keep it up and don’t apologise for caring……..
chary
soured cream, the must and the mutts nuttttttttts : and dont forget jalapenos
You enjoy and I am off out for a drink or 10…
ethan – truely dropped, but just for you
yeah chary beach bum had a good game.. he’s our hollywood keeper….!!!
You’ve probably already debated this point, but what a hypocrite that poodle-headed twat Mark Lawrenson was on MOTD regarding the assault on Clichy.
He condems players for showing disrespect to referees because it sets a bad example to kids but praises a 2 footed over the ball challenge that results in a player being taken to hospital. Would he like to see 12 year olds in the park lunging in and doing serious damage to one another.
Alan Shearer said it on MOTD a few years ago “if you let Arsenal play football they’ll beat you” – so it’s obvious, don’t play football. Kick the shit out of players (AKA cheating) because that’s all you’re good for – and these same pundits blame the influx of foreign players for the lack of quality in the national side.
all twats rasputin.. they never want to see arsenal win…
Are we being paranoid choy – or is that the truth.
Supporters of most clubs seem to think the press is against them. I definitely don’t think we get equal treatment when it comes to screening highlights on MOTD
luckily i don’t have access to motd .. but i do download highlights and sometimes.. they discuss the game…
they always have something negative to say….
I think Henry Winter’s comments on Arsenal are always very perceptive and fair.
Rasputin – Do you ever watch ‘Goals On Sunday’ on SkySports ? they have Chris Kamara going over the highlights of games and he presents a much more balanced view even though they have less time to go through everything.
Did you watch the game ?!
what a game keyser.. what a game.. the senseless battering of bolton was sweet.. just after we had conceeded.. we could have had like 4 or so at that time!!!
Kelsey – unfortunately I work on sundays and I don’t have Setanta so I only have MOTD and informed opinion from the blog sites to help me understand yesterday’s game.
From what I saw, Denilson, Eboue, Bendtner and Song did well, Ade was a good team plare and Theo injected some excitement and Cesc has currently lowered his standards to being a very good player – but he’ll get back to his best.
I am concerned about the way we conceded and I can’t understand why fundamental flaws are not being ironed out in training.
Keyser – sorry for misspelling your name…
Rasputin – Do you from Henry Winter’s column in the Telegraph ? he’s eloquent and verbose with his commentary and while fair he definetly seems to support Manchester United.
choy – Did you watch it on Setanta ? The commentators always annoy the hell out of me.
The game was great, I know it’s hard to gage how well we’re doing right now because we haven’t played any of the top teams but soo many of the players that were constantly criticised are beginning to show the little improvements in their game that could define us being also rans and actual contenders.
rasputin.. i think the goal was clichy’s fault.. bugger was supposed to be on the corner post but he left a slight gap to his right.. anyway nobody picked up davies and he pretty much had a free header…
now for the important part..
DOES anyone have a clip of fabregas showboating after the third goal? for which he got a yellow?
if you see the second goal.. fabregas picks up the ball from the net and kicks it into the crowd!!! he sure was taking the piss!!!
Keyser – it’s funny how two people can read the same articles and draw completely different conclusions. I have always felt that Henry EWinter’s column in the Telegraph revealed him to be a ‘closte’ Arsenal fan. But he does like to see football played properly. I’d rather see Manure come second to us in the Prem than pool or chelski
keyser.. i think its sky here in india..
we have espnstar that shows us the games here.. but i think they have feed off the sky network!
Rasputin – Don’t worry about it, hopefully you can work out the word I missed in the first sentance from my previous post. Heh.
Yeah all those players are beginning to step up, it’s like when they say ‘only as good as the weakest link in the chain’ if those weak links begin to improve we’re going to move on alot as a team.
I don’t know about Fabregas, I don’t think he’s had bad games, on duty with Spain he talked about how he was going to have to improve the defensive aspects of his game to get a regualr run in the team and yesterday in put in several key challenges that lead to our breaks on the counter.
At the moment he’s just sitting between Song and Denilson and switches freely from helping out in defense to attack, if Denilson and him can interchange freely it’d be awesome.
When Rosicky and Nasri are in the team you’d have 5 extremly hard working players who hopefully can swap places freely and would be a match for any midfield in the World, like a couple of years ago with Gilberto behind, Fabregas, Pires, Reyes and Ljungberg.
choy…it may have been Clichy’s fault but you can see that Gallas is a mile away from Davies and seemed to be ducking rather than competing to head the ball. I don’t think that cap’n Billy (scorer of important goals that he is) is the bravest when it comes to risking his good looks.
haha rasputin.. well put.. at least that stupid mohawk is gone!!
cap’n billy was a striker.. and i still think he is!
and i think anelka is still a closet arse fan.. he doesn’t seem to like scoring for chelsea all that much…
penalty miss in the CL final.. and today ….
Big Phil, on the oher hand didn’t need to worry about his good looks – actually, when you think of it neither did Bould, Adams or Keown. Thats’s it we must sign plug ugly defenders…..
Rasputin – It’s just down to that bit of extra height I think in the middle, Wenger chooses Toure and Gallas because they have very good recovery pace, we’re not normally defending the 6 yard box because we’re attacking soo often, so we’re more likely to get caught out on the counter attack where our pace at the back becomes key.
The only way Bolton had any luck was when they were continously lumping balls forward and to be fair Davies is very good in the air, he doesn’t get the best of service at Bolton but always manages to score goals even playing as the lone striker.
Djourou has that height but is it really worth placing him in front of Toue or Gallas just on that basis ?!
As for Henry Winter, it may be because of the way he writes, it’s always very colourful and maybe I’ve just read more United articles of his then Arsenal, so i’m mistaken into thinking he’s especially enamoured with United when all his articles are like that.
Hah Choy, he’s been at Chelsea for 8-9 onths now and the amount of easy chances he misses is amazing,
I saw Pizarro play for Werder Bremen midweek and he seems to have the same disease, it may be a Chelsea thing.
MOTD – I think I mentioned this earlier that I stopped watching this crap a long time ago. I was particularly raged by their handling/coverage of Eduardo’s incedent.
As far as football writers go, I would agree with Keyser on Winter’s eloquence but would say that I sometimes find his analyses lacking depth and mostly partisan or pro establishment. Martin Samuel and to an extent Gabrielle Marcotti (both of the Times) provide a more insightful ‘prognosis’ of football matters. They have an almost scientific approach to sports writing often backing their assertions with facts/sound logical deductions.
hey mandanda.. whats up…
geez keyser.. pizzaro was another one.. he sure was a work of art!!!
Keyser
Managers are highly analytical in their approach to games these days – and it is hardly a secret that Arsenal are perceived to be vulnerable to set pieces and the ball over the top. I don’t want to open the Gallas/Toure/Djourou debate up all over again, but wouldn’t it be an idea to play the taller more effective header of the ball against the likes of Bolton.
Not wishing to make a cheap pun, but an extra few inches can make a huge difference. Keepers like Green and Given would probably be amongst the very best if they were that bit taller. Modern athletes are showing that you can be tall and quick off the mark at the same time (Bolt and Lomou have proved that).
I remember in the Edu?Viira/Petite era at Arsenal, a commentator remarked that Arsenal were a big strong side but with pace and technical ability.
hey choy…
i’m looking forward to the CC match on tue would like to see coquelin play he looked promising in pre-season games
brilliant wknd for the Arsenal, shame it ain’t May yet
Henry Winter was on Fans Forum on the Arse TV on thursday with Tony Woodcock, seems to know a lot about Arsenal and talks sense..
i miss weekday matches as i am at work.. yeah will be a good showcase..
coquelin sure is one tough little nut isn’t he..
i think ramsey and song will start though!
David – I agree about Henry Winter.
Isn’t it funny, if we’re not debating the football, we’re debating what other people say about our football – sad bastards aren’t we haha?
choy
with all our players out injured we might have to risk a few first team players against those shielfield cloggers
song needs those games as he missed pre-season and yeah i would like to see ramsey and vela start for us
henry winter talks sense no doubt and i was a fan until i started reading Martin Samuel
Not only do we get bad press, when they show the Champions League games over here. The other Top 4 side is always on either ITV1 or SS1 and we are on ITV4 or SSXtra or somewhere where you need a Sky box to see it.
It’s always been that way since I can remember even though we play the best football..
Reading what pundits say about us is a bit like reading your hosroscope – you only want to believe the ones that make you look good.
Sometimes the truth is hard to digest. Arsenal fans are perceived to be a rare breed of benevolant supporters that would choose the art of beautiful football over trophies…..
Has anyone else got the feeling that eboue’s going to prove us all wrong this year?
David – Do you know if they repeat it at anytime ? I’d have loved to see him comment, dayum can’t believe I missed that.
Rasputin – I think weighing it up Wenger just thought it would be better to have the more experienced duo at the back, I haven’t really seen Djourou dominate that many players like Davies who are good in the air, though he’s still quick and athletic.
So you could say to deal with the high ball we could’ve played Djourou, but then if we keep a high line then Davies isn’t going to beat either for pace, I remember him trying to race Clichy to the ball a couple of times in the first half and only one players winning that race, the only luck they had was when he went off and we had to switch it around at the back.
We had Song covering the midfield and they were unlikely to pass it around us and on set pieces we can bring Adebayor and Bendtner back so it only leaves a few oppurtunies for them to realise Davies aerial effectiveness, unlucky for us they managed to do so which is a worry.
We mention Vieira, but how many players are there around that could actually match him for ability, size, strength and work rate in his younger years, the top teams play 5 in midfield and all three employ the smaller, mobile duracell bunny type like, Essien, Mascherano, Anderson and Hargreaves.
Gilberto was great in the air but then Flamini was perpetual motion, where we have a weakness there may be a strength elsewhere.
Just watching the match btw barca and gijon, the commentator noted that gijon only use players of spanish nationality. i also know until recently, atletico bilbao was comprised of only players from the basque region. isn’t this against EU employment law?
Imagine having such policies in the the premier league…
Choy – Isn’t there anyway you can record games ?!
Rasputin – LoL at the horoscope comment, I was also going to mention people like Lawrenson are froma bygone age, he doesn’t seem to have learned that football’s moved on since the 80′s or even since say 5 years ago.
Samuel’s good, umm James Richardson and Marcotti, Guillem Balague, Sid Lowe..
goonermichael – Considering how low an opinion of him many fans have how hard do you think he’d have to try ?!
EU discrimination law even?
goonermichael i think he will.. i thought he would go mental celebrating his goal… but there was nothing extravagant.. that lad is determined to prove all his doubters wrong!!
Keyser. … live games are where it’s at!!
but yeah i do download highlights of games i have missed!
Keyser; I think they only repeat it three hours later and then show both again on Arse plus 1.
It was worth watching just to see Tony Woodcocks hair, he looks like an artist or French clothes designer..
I think there is a definite improvement on last season. He’s still not that good but he’s scored now so maybe he’ll get some confidence. Wenger isn’t going to sell him anytime soon and he’s hardly ever injured so I hope so.
Keyser – I accept what you say and Saturday’s result proved that the strategy was correct. AW has said that he will only bring in players that will improve the squad.
I would suggest that since we have a plethora of quick mobile defenders and midfielders, it would be a good idea to consider a Cana-type player to counteract the crude approach of non-footballing sides if one were available. Without this kind of enforcer, your creative/speedy players can become targets and suffer injury – or am I living in the past with Mark Lawrenson?
Rasputin you don’t want to live anywhere with mark lawrenson
Mark Lawrenson – I worship the ground he’s going to…………..
Rasputin this is a true story.
about 15 years ago one of my clients from the bbc married a girl who used to go out with lawrenson. I know that everyone has a past and we have to respect that and live in the now so to speak but imagine everytime you see him on motd and thinking “he’s shagged my wife” I’d probably have to kill myself.
Without trying to sound like an AKB, I felt the picking 4 players across midfield with good defensive abilities like we did against bolton is the best way to counteract physical teams teams whilst playing 442, manu adopted a similar tactic against chelski today. In this instance you may not need a specialist defensive player as all four defend collectively like we did so well yesterday. Nonetheless, it would have be good if we got a an extra midfielder of quality to add to the numbers we already have.
goonermichael – it could be worse – could be David Pleat……
David – I know this may sound silly, but who the hell is Shoval ? He’s always on it, maybe i’m too young to remember but I have no idea who he is ?!
Rasputin – Kompany seemed to be perfect for that tall, dominant defender, maybe he didn’t want to sit on the bench, we were linked with Curtis Davies a Couple of years back, he was loaned to Villa and then suddenly his price went upto 10 million.
I didn’t mean to say you were living in the past, Sorry, it’s just Lawrenson seems to think all tackles are ok as long as the person gets the ball first, but if he took a look around World Football they’ve been trying to irracdicate studs up tackles for years.
I haven’t seen much of Cana, watched Marsille play Liverpool and he looked good, but Youtube clips make him like an animal, on a sidenote Valbuena for them looked good aswell.
It’s tiring seeing our players get injured almost every week, I wish the FA would actually do something about it, I was thinking just get our players to have that edge, Song has some agression in him and Denilson, Vieira could be really fieira but it was only when provoked, hopefully this year refs give us the protection we deserve.
A few years ago we’d get slated for having too many reds, now we’ve sorted out our disciplinary record we get battered in games.
Keyser I think shovel is from m people
Night night all, a few drinks and that is all i can type
Be safe
Keyser – you’re right, it is very frustrating seeing our players get battered. It even happens in europe now as was shown midweek with Theo.
It’s almost as though refs consider it justified to allow other sides to kick lumps out of us since it is unfair competition in terms of footballing ability. The fact is that it only takes one ‘badly timed’ tackle to take one of our players out of a game and the opposition may even consider a red card as a price worth paying
Just had another person in the spam gloating about us winning?
I don’t really understand that attitude? I am an Arsenal fan… I love it when we win!
I don’t recall the site ever saying we wouldn’t challenge this year?
Who is up next? Sheffield United? Let’s hope Jacky boy leads the way in that Competition this year!
Goonermichael, I was with a bird once who’d been with John Terry… it didn’t last long…
Anyway, another successful day despite the issues earlier!
I’m off, catch you later!
Evening everyone
Had a very busy day, so just ploughed my way through all todays posts. Wow theres been some fireworks today and we won the game 3-1 and we are top of the league for the whole week and maybe beyond . . . . good times.
Will the motd pundits ever say anything nice about us and our fabulous football? They couldn’t have been more disinterested in how we played and were deperate to defend the tackle on clichy. I think Alan Shearer just goes along with what Mark Lawrenson says – pathetic!!
This weekend must go down as one of the best as far as other results go – pool, manure and chavs all drop points, bottenham stay right there at the bottom of the table and we rise sleekly to the top of the league with a great win against bolton.
WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE.
Can’t wait to be singing it at the Emirates next saturday.
Nite all xx
Pedro
Problem is .. you can have an opinion on Le grove , but then when you get that HUGE win over bolton (cough !) you get all the AKB come out of the closet just to give you a bit of the I TOLD YOU SO’S ! It honestly did start the second’ i gave ade some praise’ !ohhh the irony of it ! i say ade played a good game then you get some #### tell me he has an opposing view !
So what do i care ???????
DONT TELL ME SHIT IF YOU CANT SUSTAIN A CONVERSATION
Last night i could of let loose ! but i didn’t ( out of respect for you guys!) ! i took all the abuse under the fuckin sun from a Nancy boy , Somehow im up every morning at 7 am , when im an alcoholic ! and trying to fit lady boys into my life with my wife around is tough
Thats the problem with free speech ! people just dont want to hear it !
they dont want to hear anything but main stream propaganda !
AKB ! Sorry but the chances are ! you will all be disappointed again this season and you know who you are .. and then i hope you feel guilty for your misguided conduct !
and i make this statement whilst we are on top of the ladder just so certain people
cant say ‘we were already out of contention by then ! ‘
our team lacks experience obviously , we cannot compete with chelsea or man U !
they have been the top 2 for 4 seasons in a row ! FOR A REASON !
both have won it 2 times during that time .. they cannot be separated on paper
but it seems number 5 currently will be chelsea’s year !
ethan…
being a young side and lacking experience almost means the same. But I really think we are very experienced in defense and fab, Ade, and eboue. The only problem is we rate our performances not by the results but by the way we play.
tell me even if we buy an experienced player or two, do we come close to the squad depth of chelsea?? Can ANYONE match its squad depth???
Completely different game chelsea are playing and they are the only ones playing. And as for manu, they have rushed ronaldo back in due to the shitty performance, imagine if he were out for a few matches last time, and we had been a bit lucky with the injuries….
you are simply on the wrong track.
and ohh btw robinho is nothing more than a showman… like to see people cheering his name, soon enough with a few bad performances he will want to go and play in east bengal…. they would go crazy i can tell you that!!!!
ikon
tell me even if we buy an experienced player or two, do we come close to the squad depth of chelsea?? Can ANYONE match its squad depth???
Your right no , that might take years to emulate chevski’s strength and depth as much as i hate to say it .. even Man U have got a bench that oozes experience .. However this year with big phil Chelsea really look the team to beat dont they ?
Chelsea are strong … and i think im on the right track by making the AKB aware we are still very much in the woods and untested .. Sure live up the wins against bolton and blackburn , but everyone seems to forget fulham , and kyiv ! We will win only thru consistency, and showing a greater consistency than chelski ! We can have a very average preformance from our team on the day or they can turn it on and beat anyone ! we have consistency issues !
and that is why we will struggle until we get some more experience within the ranks .
which in my opinion is a near impossible task , well this season anyhow !
its good to see theo – denilson – almunia all start showing some good form .
and we will be in there somewhere around the finish ! but to say we will win the League is just pure fantasy
Ethan, I fully agree regarding the ‘I told you so’ stuff. Bolton are a different beast under Megson, as are Blackburn with Ince. How can people be gloating this early on in the season?
Wenger wont be vindicated until he produces a trophy. I love the fact we are top of the league and we’ve started well, but look at the teams we’ve beaten:
Blackburn
Twente
Newcastle
Bolton
Hardly world beaters are they? Hardly games you would have expected us to lose?
I am all for positivity, but acting like we have the league sewn up in September is outrageous.
Still, today is about enjoying our position at the top and getting Le Grove back to being a nice place to blog.
Cut yourself some slack Ethan; things are looking up. We are supposed to be pleased when we get it wrong about a player the reason being that it’s good for the team.
I have had running battles with Geoff over Walcott, nobody is more pleased than myself to have got it wrong. Even better, it is now looking like Denilson is going to make it this season, rather than in two or three season’s time; the result being that we are going to have a midfield that can compete and when you take into consideration that Diaby, Rosicky and Bischoff are going to be drip fed into the team throughout the season it is looking more and more likely that Wenger’s gamble could to pay off, which once again should be regarded as a good thing.
We are not capable of competing financially with Chelsea so we have had to adopt a system which may have caused a lot of concern at the beginning of the season but it’s now looking like it could reap rewards. Allow yourself to dream a bit. Maybe this could be our year.
London, it feels good that me and you were both right about Denilson
New Post!
I have pondered over the situation and I’m going to do the only sensible thing which is to write my last Le Grove post. I’ve got to like many people on here but unfortunately it has got to a point where a moron who thinks he can call people me a cunt but is the epitomy of one, constantly spouts abuse at anyone who disagrees with him, is unable to argue his case and has a go at people because they disagree with his stupidity causes me to respond in kind.
He ends a debate in one liners, he somehow is above the rules, fails to conducts himself in a manner he would like to be treated in. Not only that but he’s an incompetent writer.
His hypocrisy knows no bounds, he happily starts swearing at me and then pretends butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth that he didn’t say anything rude “out of respect”.
The man is a hypocrite, and his denial of wanting to get rid of Arsene Wenger is just one of the lies he cannot admit to when confronted (The posts are in the archives, he calls for the sacking of Wenger but then denies it a few months later). If someone wanted to get rid of Wenger then fine but at least have the balls to say so.
I wish Le Grove every future success as I have absolutely no doubt it will be since there are some great characters on here.
I refuse to share my thinking space with someone has some sort of special case status attached to him, that if he lambasts someone you must tiptoe around him and not respond to him.
I’m certainly not of the opinion of censoring him, however I’d like to point out he is responsible for much of the behaviour he so detests, especially being rude to people, failing to construe a cohesive argument and disrespecting other opinions, anything he doesn’t like is AKB.
All the best, I’ll be cheering Arsenal all the way to the finishing line.
Finest, today is a new day…
I am online all week, so there will be no abuse of anyone. Last week wasn’t a case for making exceptions… it was purely down to business and the fact Geoff and myself were not online to police the site.
Don’t leave on account of anyone, just trust that everything will be sorted today.
Cheers
Pedro
I kept out of it yesterday because like the joke I heard a couple of weeks ago…
Arguing on the Internet is like the special olympics, you might win, but you’re still retarded!
Don’t leave Finest, some of us really enjoy your posts. You shouldn’t allow yourself to be “chased off”.

FFS Wenger is pretty brilliant, although he should hae brought Theo on at 60 not 70… …Adebayor is a waste of space Bendtner is already better than him, so there

i agree ade is a waste of space , and for the intended plan B spends more time on the pitch than anyone ! but this is by far ades best game for arsenal , passed well for most of it .. only 2 off side’s the whole game ! was unselfish !
SOMEHOW AT THIS POINT GUNNER8′S WORDS BECAME MINE

if you cannot see it .. you are not very observant !
hes in there to score , not be offside 10 times a game !
he plays more minutes than anyone else in the team , and has onlt came out 1 time
and was gifted a hat trick …
with the chances he has Vs conversion ratio , it is exceptionally poor !
so argue with that !!!
but this game was his best by far !
but as a team its been the most dominant game by far !
THEN I GET THIS !
