Offside Eboue off the mark at last!

Who cares eh? Its about time we got a bit of luck, after going one down and hitting the post twice it was looking like one of those days, then Eboue came to the rescue, almost pushing Ade out of the way to do it too.

I thought he had a good game and even Song had a good shot so there’s improvement in those departments, I hope Clichy isn’t out for too long as we don’t have great cover there, I guess we have Gibbs and Silvestre, but Silvestre has been injured since we bought him so get well soon Gael.

I think it’s time to make Theo a feature, when he came on we played better and their defence panicked, so I would like to see him feature more, not sure why Robin didn’t play but Bendtner scored so it’s irrelevant.

Being top of the league is fantastic but is made even better seeing the spuds at the bottom, and in this, their breaking into the top four at our expense year!

We played great yesterday, showed character and came back from a goal down so I can only think happy today, if we can just get the injured players back we will be unbeatable, imagine a bench with Nasri, Diaby, Rosicky, Van Persie, Eduardo and Bishcoff on it! We would terrorise the premiership.

Hey and I didn’t even mention Silvestre!

Other news is Hill Wood wouldn’t accept £100 million for Cesc, mmm, not sure I believe you there but at least you’re trying to send out a hands off message so well done Mr Chairman.

Europe fought back in the Ryder Cup yesterday, surely the Americans can’t be that lucky three days on the trot, so let’s have a big win today boys, Poulter is a gooner and it would have made his day that we are top of the league, so he’ll be playing on aviation fuel today.

Have a great day Grovers and pray for a nil-nil draw at Stamford bridge for the perfect end to a perfect weekend.

    Wooooohoooooo

  6. kenny smith says:

lol cheers Geoff, Id like to point out that i think Almunia answered his critics yesterday. i thought he played really really well and if he keeps that form up then i feel alot safer than i have done in recent times

  7. kenny smith says:

    Lawro is a cunt!

  8. kenny smith says:

i was hoping for some player ratings today lol

  9. spurdozer says:

    Yeah. Player ratings anyone.

  10. Geoff says:

Player ratings are Pedro’s bag, and so are match reports, and he’s not around this morning, but I would have to give Almunia ten out of ten and the whole team 9 for a gutsy performance, I thought Ade’s cross was fab.

  11. col(arsenalviper) says:

    ratings are a good idea

  12. Doublegooner says:

6 points taken from those northern thugs in 7 days. Exellent.

However, we really need to defend set pieces & close down better. Davies’s goal was awful. Gallas, wake up !

  13. spurdozer says:

I couldn’t post in here cos’ I had been preparing my self for the entrance exams for admission in medical college. The results are to be announced next month. My papers went really well, so wish me luck. I hope i am enroute becoming an Arsenal physio

  14. hounddog says:

Good morning all, Appologies if I got a little upset last night. I have issues when we win a game of football but people still want to nit pick over silly things.

EthanGunner; to set the record straight and clear the air. I respect yours and everyone elses opinion but it does not mean I agree with them. Bottom line is this, if you attempt to belittle me with your comments and act like a little girl then I will respond accordingly. Last night I simply said you need to grow up and I decided to log off before I responded to you in a way that I may have regretted! Remember please, I am not blind if I don’t see it your way okay. Cheers and enjoy your Sunday.

  15. hounddog says:

Oh I forgot, I am not a rude git either :-)

  16. kenny smith says:

Back to MOTD and lawro!!!! Kevin davies challenge!!!! got the ball- fair enough,,,, but his left knee took clichy about half way up his shin… if u watch closely(as im sure lawro has) Clichy manages to pull his leg out as soon as davies hits him,,, if his leg gets stuck under davies or he couldnt of pulled out of it then im afraid thats a broken leg guys. Now that cunt lawro said that that challenge was ok becuase he got the ball. he said he got the ball first and his follow through took him through clichy and that it wasnt even a foul! So he basically said its ok to tackle someone at knee height as long as u get the ball first!!!!!!!!! cunt, wanker he doesnt have a clue… BBC sack him!!!! and also sack that cunt shearer as well!!!! he agreed there was nothing wrong with that challenge and i bet if it had been on michael owen it would have been a different story!!!!

  17. spurdozer says:

I thought bendtner was gr8 at some moments. Ade was good too. Well Myles Palmer was suggeting that bendtner is the way forward. His short slick passes tore bolton defence. He is a better link up striker than RVP. Well I agree with myles that Bendtner gives us a whole new dimension.

  18. Mandanda says:

Good performance overall. OK we were not always perfect but considering its our third match away in a row I am very pleased with our display. No negative/critical comments from me!!

They were all fantastic and hope we sustain this all season long.

    Good morning grovers

  19. Geoff says:

Spurdozer on behalf of all at Le Grove we wish you luck! Hounddog, way to carry it on!

Let’s make Sunday a happy day all, I’m teeing off at 2pm so won’t be around to moderate or get in between people.

We won and we’re still in the Ryder Cup so let’s all be cheerful.

  20. finestcuts says:

I agree Geoff, the whole team played well, the negative was the slow start but their goal was off a lucky corner so it can be forgiven, a very good performance against a team who kept looking for corners and free kicks.

I also agree with PHW’s statement, what’s a team without good players? We need all the good players we have thanks very much.

And well done to Eboue, he had a few extra chances to shoot but the fact that he’s having a go at long last is a credit to him.

I compained about Hleb and Flamini’s low productivity, I’m certainly not going to give Eboue any special deference.

Eboue is getting better, more good performances Mr. Eboue and you’ll earn your stripes, neither shall I refer to him as the pass master since that would indicate the he has perfected that skill which he most certainly has not.

Eboue has improved but he still has a long way to go before being classed as an average player or better.

  21. choy says:

morning grovers…. what a game.. especially when we went down and the 15 min or so.. we battered them… nik was top notch… he could easily have had quite a few assists..

denilson the new fabregas?? eboue can play on the left wing as well!!! the new pires???

    oooh.. what a day!!! :)

  22. choy says:

finest what are your thoughts about denilson.. that boy sure is taking his role to the next level!! and he played right wing!!

  23. Lawro on MOTD compaires Arsenal to a bunch of Jessie’s. I dont think our club takes to kindly to that.neither the fans.Lawro should think before he opens his mouth,I bet he regrets it now !!!.

  24. finestcuts says:

Denilson’s doing great, can’t wait till the Opta stats update comes out :)
All we need now from him is consistency, at least 8/10 good performances.
But the thing is, now we know for certain he has the ability and that he can handle the pressure.

  25. choy says:

good end product as well finest.. how the fuck did fab get a yellow card? what did he do?

  26. Non Edible Nacho says:

Van Persie and Walcott didn’t play just to rotate the squad a bit and don’t use tired players (they had played 4 consecutive games if we include their national teams). It makes sense to me.

  27. finestcuts says:

For showboating after the third goal was scored.

    showboating

a slightly annoying form of behaviour, especially in sport, which is intended to attract attention or admiration because it is very skilful:

  28. choy says:

haha… why wtf was he doing?

and fab is starting to looking like la liga players with his hair style!!!

  29. rico01 says:

Morning Grovers – great performance, great game, great win…..

I watched Davies goal over and over – anyone else think he held Kolo down as he jumped for the header??

Come on Europe – follow the Gooners and get the win :)

  30. choy says:

    morning rico..

yeah kolo was too dumbstruck to do anything to do about the goal!!

that is our weakness.. anything that comes over the top!! we usually have problems dealing with those!!

  31. Gunnershabz says:

we won 2 games, which we usually struggle

    blackburn away and bolton away

i gots to admit this team has character, its a shame we lost at fulham…..

but am fearing the worse with the injuries

  32. Wonderboy says:

Eboue is on his way to becoming player of the season! P.s. Davies, prick, always will be.

  33. treze13 says:

    morning guys,

WOO!!!! we won and clichys got the all clear, once Eduardo and Rosicky get back i think we will continue to improve, also nice to see the spudsdoing terribly :)

  34. HelsinkiGooner says:

Fantastic win – though until we had the 3rd I’s quite a nervous bastard. I agree that the set pieces have to be dealt with better….luckily it didn’t cost us yesterday, but will in time. Toure may have been held, but Clichy really fucked up on that bolton goal though – shoulda stayed on the post, or at least closer to it, that’s why he’s there, and i think he knows it too…

Almunia was man-of-match, at least up there with the Pass-Master. All in all, a fantastic win!

  35. Gunnershabz says:

i think we all should praise eboue and denilson, we all went on there backs this season, but denilson is probarly the best midfielder on form in the premiership stats.

he has got like 4/5 assists, 2 goals

    good start

  36. choy says:

    hello treze.. long time mate…

what a game.. i like the fact that everyone wants to get on the scoresheet in our team!!!

song eboue denilson theo nik ade… gallas.. toure… !!!! awesome!!

  37. HelsinkiGooner says:

Davies is a silver-haired cunt…nothing more. Nolan’s not much either.

  38. Gunnershabz says:

who are the spuds playing today??

  39. rico01 says:

    morning choy, treze :)

  40. dfunkydog says:

Yea fab, what’s with the hair?

I’m not sure about Song. He was good yesterday but I think that players get past him too easily, when they don’t is usually because he fouls them.

  41. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Good stuff Geoff, about The Arsenal. I wonder if Cesc is going through a Robert Pires phase with his hairdoo.

Great to see Yo Yo20 get a run. Maybe if the rabbits foot luck runs out, Big Johan could be the next mystical good luck charm, coz we haven’t lost when he plays.

Little Nicky  was OK as well……& Adebayor, helps when we score :) so give him the ball.

    Night all,

  42. treze13 says:

yeah hi choy and rico, been really busy lately so haven’t been able to get on here much, still been reading the post everyday though and Gunnershabz the spuds are playing wigan

  43. Gunnershabz says:

    hopefully wigan beat them too…

    u heard the rumours

    david bentley already causing problems

jaunde ramos is considering to leave and go back to spain

it looks brillant, we on top and well they are bottom

someone should print it out and hand it to the spuds at white hart lane

and put down u lot spent like 40m

  44. choy says:

hey rico.. so still don’t rate niklas??

  45. LB says:

I’m just curious about wehere the prophets of doom have disappeared to. As Arsenal fans, we have to be honest with ourselves because some people now are looking like opportunists. I remember a month ago reading lots of articles about how this was the worst Wenger squad ever, Wenger needs to go, Song and Denislon are not good enough, let’s get a billionaire in, etc. All those people must now come back and state their case. You cannot mouth off when we lose against Fulham and pretend you are supportive when the good times return. This has been my problem with these characters in the first place: How come you know so much more than Wenger and the board?

  46. Gunnershabz says:

i rate nikki bendtner, sometimes he cant get silly…. but i think he has got the best link up play as a forward in our squad

adebayor is a raw scoring machine for us

    eduardo is the best finisher

RvP is just a skillful and talented forward

Carlos Vela is a tricky, quick live wire up front,

    these are our strikers

  47. choy says:

LB.. 33 games still left… we’re not there yet.. but yes it is looking good..

  48. ethangunner says:

yes over all some good signs domestically , but the problem seems if we play good at home ,in Europe we suffer .. i put that down to squad depth and im sure wenger will frustrate us in the near future with squad selection .Resting key players instead of going foe a win ! But we can get a good 1st 11 together if all remain fit .. I still think a replacement of class would aid cesc who seems to look less capable since the departure of his friends

a special note to ade who had is BEST GAME he has ever played for the arsenal ! he passed
he had vision , he had off sides numbering on 1 hand ! he didnt give possession away to a unacceptable level ! If he scored i would have given him a player rating of 8 !

  49. LB says:

Choy, I’m a cautious guy. I didn’t say we would win the league (though I believe we will), I just said, context is important. I went through several weeks where I started to think maybe there’s something wrong with me. Why do I see the beginning of a fantastic Arsenal side when other people see weakness and are calling for the manager’s head? That’s teh issue? I want to understand what people saw that was so bad, that’s all. And winning 3 PL games on teh trot should not cause the hibernation of people who have such strong views surely. So where are they and what are their thoughts now?

  50. treze13 says:

Travis barker, the drummer of Blink182 was in a plane crash he was severely burned and 4 others were killed.

He was at an F.A cup final a few years back in an arsenal shirt so get well soon

  51. Avendesorax says:

Great midfield trio, Cesc, Song and Denilson, BBC’s Lawro is fool, actually the lot of them are tossers.

To be top of the league with out so many first team players is fantastic, the competion for places is going to be fierce.

Well said LB, I’m still looking for all the Song and Denilson knockers to come on and admit they got it wrong!!!!!

  52. rico01 says:

choy – yesterday he was good, consistency will be the key though ;)

  53. choy says:

heheh rico.. well the lad does not get to play every game… so of course he will find consistency a problem!

consistent games = consistency! look at denilson.. he is blossoming!!

  54. Geoff says:

I’m off for a bit, catch you all later.

  55. georgiaan-gunner says:

rating pls,i like your ratings :D

  56. For the record GunnerShabz… not ALL of us were on Denilson’s back….

  57. GunnerPete says:

Nice to wake up to…the Arsene doubters falling apart as he even leaves out VP&Walcott. Most praise must go to the unsung…Eboue, So& Denilson. The latter has been MOTM twice recently and Song has proved me so wrong Im embarrased. Eboue, when not writhing on the floor in agony has it all to become a very good player, and maybe he is made for the left wing? Ony our GOD AW knows.

Lets hope that the ‘our squad is woeful’ crowd will belt up now and savour the addition of Eduardo, Rosicky, Vela, Diaby,Nasri, etc. etc, just when we need them!

  58. LB – Ethan is around I think, so i’m pretty certain, you’ll get chapter and verse on what’s wrong with Arsenal soon enough!!

  59. ethangunner says:

    LB

i said it to seb and a few others .. here is a test that will give you an accurate measuring stick !
we play games on the 8th and 30th of November ! if we get all 6 points from those 2 outings you can justify your self ! However if we dont win both games , you will accurately see why people
why people say we have gone into this season without the quality and depth needed to WIN it! .. not to stay in the top 4 but to WIN ! …

I personally feel the same way as wenger does ! man U will wake up soon , so there will be no free meal tickets , but ill add ,arsenal need to win there easy games
(against non top 4 ! teams ) he cannot field substandard teams and rest players who are important and key to the success of arsenal winning ,he needs to field his best 11 every week !

Leaving theo on the bench with bolton 1 up , could have been a major mistake !
we need to chase the wins every week ! not field a side that can marginally win against the side
being put out against us !

  60. ethangunner says:

did i state what was wrong with arsenal ??

    NO :P

  61. ethangunner says:

as for denilson ! i was the only prick who stood up for him PRE SEASON !!!!!
    and nik B !

and who played well yesterday ?!??!?!

  62. ethangunner says:

    and theo !!!

and who has came good so far ???

    hmmmmm…

  63. Great comic timing Ethan!

  64. choy says:

i think eboue was meant to be a left winger!!! all hail the new bobby pires!!!

  65. ethangunner says:

and who is still crap ???

    ade …

hmmm who said that also ???
Jack would be a superstar and key player this season if wenger gave him the chance too !
but by the time he gives jack any sort of time on the pitch jack will be 2nd guessing himself !!!

  66. rico01 says:

    morning ethan

I agree, those two games will tell us all just how good or not we are, but i am pleased with the wins we are getting, and the fact the we are doing it when not firing on all cylinders – Cesc, Bac, Gallas, Toure and most of our strike force have not hit top form yet, and if that happens late October, then we could be in for a few shocks for the doubting pundits. Last season we were quick out of the blocks, but come the run in it showed, and we didnt have the squad to bring in ( well not experienced players anyway)

I pray that that by the time that situation comes around again, Thomas, Dudu, Bischoff, Coquelin, Ramsey, Silvestre…….. are all back and fighting fit.

But yes, November will be a key, but if we keep winning now, then all is pretty ok in my eyes

ps – wasnt having a pop yesterday, and i agree, you have your view, and should be free to express it :)

  67. Gooner07 says:

Ade got involved in two goals, one a direct assist, and other being the superb release to denilson. He also left the first to Eboue (thankfully)

Denilson got an assist, and a goal.

Bendtner got an assist and a goal.

    Eboue scored a goal.

Fabregas had a good pass conversion percentage as always, and kept raising the tempo with quick passes (I think Song improved in that area as well, much better than his showing against kiev).

Song didn’t always man mark Nolan, and it could have cost us. As would have his bad passing in the first half. But he improved. He will get better as he showed in second half.

Both Eboue, and Denilson were quite good in tracking back Bolton fullbacks.

Clichy, Sagna, and then Djorou played well, except Sagna fell down once to give bolton a chance, and Djorou kept giving the bolton forward space down the right in second half.

Toure was superb. Alumnia – good enough. Gallas, I’m not sure he played. heh, joking of course.

As Wenger put it, it was a good all round performance. Attack and defend. Physically, and technically.

One negative remains, we just couldn’t deal with Davies-type forwards. The long ball is not won by Gallas or Toure, thus we look vulnerable in that area.

  68. ethangunner says:

    QoS

i keep it real , i dont start blowing wind up the dates of others just to uplift the spirits !
a spade is a spade in my book ! and last night was a good dominating game ! ade’s best 2 date !..
and have no problem in saying it .. also eboue is coming on ! can we do better ?! sure !

have we been tested ? not yet ! in order to become winners you must beat the best !
correct me if im wrong ?!??!

  69. choy says:

    in the league no ethan…

we play total 38 games…. 6 against the top 3…

even if we lose all 6 which is unlikely… we can still win the league if we win the other 32 matches!!… er make that 31 !!! heheh

  70. ethangunner says:

    rico

i dont mind what you say to me :)
    i know your a good sort .. ~!
but when you get idiots who say i dont agree with you at all!! but im not going to debate the issues
with you .. ( then just shut the #### up! and dont say anything then 2 begin with ! )
if i reacted to every fairy who thinks ade is a god or eboue is class and proven id bust a piston ring :)

i just let them believe it , and pity them at the same time :)

  71. ethangunner says:

    choy whatever !
    keep on being you !

  72. choy says:

 .. so you watching the stamford bridge game today?

  73. choy says:

you are one of my fav posters ethan!!!!

  74. ethangunner says:

sure , id love man U to win !
keep the chevs on 10 points !
even a draw would be giving points away to the chevs .!
Liverpool is a big surprise !
they wont be an easy game either !

  75. kelsey says:

Good Morning All,Buenos Dias.Well I said it all last night, watched a re run and the goal we conceded wasn’t too different against Fulham.

By the way hounddog is only a rude git when he is hungry.

Back to my favorite Cesc,no guyliner but now a hairband,is he being groomed for a national TV advert.

For the few that are interested we reached the semi final of the 4′s this morning.

I hope the mancs and chavs beat the shit out of each other and terry and lampard collide and go off and rooney head butts berbatov instead of the ball and about 4 sending offs. :)

  76. Gooner07 says:

Anyone creamed over Denilson’s back flick to Song in the buildup to the second goal? Deni does that in our half, and times his run perfectly to let Ade slip him in, and a perfect cross to Bendtner.

  77. rico01 says:

ethan – totally agree, and bloggers are always advised of that by Geoff/Pedro – debate needs input, not just flat disagreement without reason, anyway, enough of me going on about that – sun is shining and off to wash the cars –

catch you all in a while, i hate cleaning cars!!!

  78. kelsey says:

ethangunner I understand you,you want us to win not just compete this year.Let’s see.I agree we are understrength but even i am surprised that Theo and Denilson are upping their game.I thought Bedtner was unlucky to be taken off,not been a great lover of his,but he played well yesterday.

  79. slugboy says:

Nice to be top and we should enjoy it, especially with spuds where they are and with manure 3 points behind Hull.

Anyone else think Cesc is a bit off form? A few awry passes yeserday from someonewho is usually near 100%.

Glad to see eboue and denilson getting some recognition.

Theo has suprised me at how he has stepped up this year.

I’d like to see a bit more of Vela.

Still weak at defending the big ball in from the flanks – I think Song does help a bit, but we could still do with a big fella at the back ….. or some marking practice.

  80. ethangunner says:

    kelsey ,

if wenger is smart , he will try and get all the easy 3 pointers he can , and just go defensive against the top 3 .. now we are ahead on the leaders board you take each game as it comes, field your best team you can each week and play for the odds ..
theo and denilson are 2 i picked to become great and nikb .. they should be given time on the pitch to shine ! confidence from the manager is all they need ! and they will grow at a faster rate than ade and eboue .. having said that all played well this week !

the problem i have is wenger will take his eye of the EPL ball when the C.L comes around …
he will rest players Vs hull or sunderland or alike in preps for the C.L and drop points in doing so!!!

  81. ethangunner says:

    slugboy

i think cesc is suffering from a lack of quality around him , he lacks the technicians to make him effective .. and it makes him look more human !

ive spoken about this to seb .. but he feels there no problems :P

  82. ethangunner says:

    Ramos must be pissed !

Don’t get so upset when people don’t agree with you, it’s as much their perogative to post their take on things as it is yours, you gave houndog a bollocking yesterday for being rude yet you fail to apply the same sorts of standards to your posts, if you can dish it out then don’t scream blue murder when someone fires back.

    kelsey ,

    if wenger is smart ,

    ——

Smart by your standards. I personally feel questioning whether Wenger is intelligent or not is a non-starter, if you fail to see the fact that he IS intelligent regardless of whether you agree with his policies or not would make you one of the very few to observe the blindigly obvious.

You were calling for Wenger’s head in pre-season, if you made a comment praising Denilson it was in between your endless tirades of Adebayor.

  84. kelsey says:

ethangunner the key to all of the forthcoming games is how injury free we remain.no games are easy in the pl and personally i don’t think we have the size of squad to compete on 2 fronts let alone 4.Last season we only picked up 6 points from the other top 3 and I still maintain the team selection against Man u in the cup, which was a humiliation, was the beginning of our downfall, together with not strengthening in Jan.Eduardo’s injury had nothing to do with it,he was only a bit part player at the time, though he was beginning to settle in.
I noticed a bit more harmony in the squad yesterday, which is a positive and Almunia does still have to vital flaws to his game,he doesn’t judge the near post and even yesterday he runs out diagonally only to change his mind and gets caught in no mans land.Having said that all keepers make faults, look at van der saar this season.

On a brighter note i read Ramos may walk out of spurs, doesn’t like the weather here and is homesick for spain and is clashing with the board.(nothing changes.)

3 seasons without a win ! who wouldnt be questioning wenger !!
plenty on here so dont isolate me !
i want results like most of the paying customers !
and yes wenger has made this mistake in previous seasons ! not playing his best 11 !
and as i follow this club closely and pay my money to watch the game
    i think i have a right to an opinion DONT I ?????

however you dont have the right to say what your saying to me !

  87. kenny smith says:

i said either the board or wenger needs to go !!!!

i have stated many times that id prefer the board to go !

least my sledging of ade is justified !!!
yours are just plain delusional 90% of the time !!!

  92. finestcuts says:

Ethan it’s blind hatred, you’re blatantly an alcoholic who’s always pissed sitting at the puter.

  94. goonermichael says:

Motd last night we were on second which is an improvement but there were only 5 matches so if the others were playing we probably would have been on later. Lawro and shearer are absolute cunts. All that talk about fair tackles especially after dudu last year. I’d love to see someone tackle shaerer like that walking down oxford st. Shearer always was a dirty cunt when he was a player remember when he knee’d the player in the face and looked around to see if he’d been cought by the linesman or ref. nil nil today and lot’s of clean, fair, get tha ball. crunching tackles eh.

BTW I’ve got someone working for me called jessie, when I tell him what lawro said he’ll be livid.

    Hey Finest & Ethan.

    Please stop this.

Ethan …. I have never seen anyone call another Le Grover a cunt before, and it is no credit to you whatsoever (and don’t be pedantic about it…!)

Finest, you have been posting on here long enough to know that Ethan will continue in this vein until you think “fuck it” and stop posting on here. IMHO that would be a loss to Le Grove.

So, both of you (in the absence of Geoff/Pedro) Please ………

  101. this year for sure says:

    haha

  102. Big Raddy says:

Kelsey. Did Pedro pass on my email address ?

    Check your mail.

  103. this year for sure says:

  104. finestcuts says:

I’m not offended I have broader shoulder than that, I’ll allow Ethan to carry on with his ramblings and double standards, it is quite amusing really.

Just don’t say Adebayor is good or he’ll start foaming at the mouth.

  105. Big Raddy says:

    On a football front.

What a game Bendtner had yesterday. His best so far. I really think he is going to be a fine player. For a big unit, he has control, great balance, and a sharp eye for a pass. More of the same please.

Almunia was excellent, as was the team as a whole. Song is developing nicely, however I have concerns about his pace. Can he perform against a fast passing team? But, hopefully AW will rotate the squad

  106. choy says:

geez.. you guys need to chill… we just beat bolton 3-1

  107. goonermichael says:

I put together a ff team to come last which included Eboue, I’m now happily going to sell him.

  108. Joel Cairo says:

ethangooner, until you face up to adebayor’s high productivity and quality your opinions are rubbish. He is more accurate and less wasteful than anyone in the league.

  109. Evo in Oz says:

  110. hounddog says:

As you can see from the recent string of posts this is the exact reason Why I chose to tell Ethangunner that it was not worth my time to discuss the issue with him! At no time did I result to name calling and throwing insults. I believe my comment of “you need to grow up” was more than justified. On this forum I did not think that people reverted to calling other posters cunts and use the fuck word at them. Perhaps I am on the wrong forum???

  111. Evo in Oz says:

1.5 hours till the scum kick off…..cant wait for the injuries to flow in that game!

  112. AR says:

Evo, at least its on at a reasonable time for us.

  113. Evo in Oz says:

yeah i might watch the kick off and see a few two footed tackles go in for the first 5 mins and then hit the sack…

  114. AR says:

    Mikel red card i reckon.

  115. Evo in Oz says:

hopefully. and rooney and ferdinand as well

  116. Big Raddy says:

Hounddog. Don’t let Ethan pee you off. You are a welcome new addition to the site.

We cannot always agree with each other, nor with the manner of the posting. BUT we are all Gooners.

Ethan has a combatative style. It is his way. However, you are right to protest about abusive language,. It is unacceptable and childish.

Had Geoff/Pedro been around they would have stopped any antagonism.

I hope you continue to enjoy Le Grove,.

  117. ethangunner says:

    hounddog
your out of line pure and simple !
rude and i just misspelled finest’s name !

so yes you resorted to name calling ! you disobeyed the blogs rules not me !
get a life .. you and finest are delusional !
    its not my problem !
ignore me like i will do to you both in future

    END OF !

  118. ethangunner says:

tell me to grow up then confess to name calling HAHAHAHA !

  119. Big Raddy says:

Really looking forward to a fine day of sport.

Spurs get humbled again, Chavs to draw. The Arsenal to top the table, Racing to beat Real and a Europe win in the golf.

  120. hounddog says:

Ethangunner: Why do you have to sesort to telling lies. You say you just misspelt finest’s name? Yet in the post to him you specifically addressed him as finestcunt and stated, “I think I spelt your name correctly”

  121. goonermichael says:

    Ethan
Why don’t you step back and listen to yourself?

Being delusional only affects the person who is deluded so that’s the deluded persons problem not yours.

  122. Evo in Oz says:

i was wondering where all this chat came from?

then i scrolled back and found the evidence?

i thought we were all talking about how good we played yesterday and that we are going to be top o the league tomorrow?

  123. ethangunner says:

  125. blazon says:

    SONG CAN SHOOT!

  126. hounddog says:

By the way I think you will find that this started because I did not support your comments of Adebayor!! Bottom line is this has all become rather silly. I don’t believe I am the one throwing the toys out of the pram so I will move on. No further comment and yes Ethan it is best if we just ignore each other from now on. Cheers.

  127. ethangunner says:

    goonermicheal
it becomes my problem when i have to read his ramblings of delusion !
    doesn’t it ?

  128. ethangunner says:

my comments of ade last night were positive !!!
so you dont support them ?????

  129. Evo in Oz says:

from the earlier Setanta ratings i thought Almunia was at least an 8.5, not 7.5 and Denilson was at least a 7.5 if not 8 and not a 7. What about Song, surely he was better than a 6?

  130. ethangunner says:

I aint throwing any toys out of any prams !
im just exposing you for being rude !
and that you carried it on last night ! after telling me

i dont agree with you but i dont want you to comment so just dont repsond ..

    i said ok !

then you go off again !!

your the twat not me !
its justified ! if you act like a twat then be responsible , put your hand up and say yes sorry i was a twat last night ! and move the FUCK on !

  131. goonermichael says:

    Ethan
I disagree a lot with you but I don’t feel I have to respond to it. it’s your opinion and I’ve got mine.

  132. AR says:

Evo, do you know if the midweek CC game will be shown on Foxtel?

  133. ethangunner says:

    Micheal

i respect that right ! and any time you want to debate any issues ,
i dont have a problem with it ..

  134. Bud says:

    Greetings from sunny Lanzarote!!!

What time does the golf start today and is it on SS2?

I have rooted myself at the bar as with the previous 2 noon starts and they’ve got bloody cricket on!!!!

P.S. Poulter is a legend and so is Eboue on the left wing!!!!

  135. Evo in Oz says:

dont worry hounddog, not sure who is right or wrong as i only just logged on today, but im another one in Ethans non-talking books!

  136. ethangunner says:

and i will treat you with the respect you give me !
come barking like a dog up my tree however and ill
    spray you with mace :)

  137. Evo in Oz says:

AR – i think its too early in the CC for it to be shown. just checked fox 1,2,3, ESPN and setanta and its not on those.

  138. ethangunner says:

Bud i agree with that !

theo on the right – eboue on the left !
if that means he scores more goals ill be up for it !!

  139. rico01 says:

Blimey – I came in to talk footie, and another storm has brewed, whats going on here??? ;)

Anyway, I am staying out of it

I thought everyone played well yesterday, and even Eboue gave me a smile, great performance away from home at a not so nice ground – Top notch boys I say…

Cesc – please get your hair cut – Song has….;)

  140. this year for sure says:

What the difference between a spurs fan and Ethan???

some people are friends with spurs fans

  141. hounddog says:

Just curious. Is it in our best interest for chelsea and Man U to tie so that we stay top of the table at this early stage or would it in fact be better if one of them lost?

  142. ethangunner says:

what is the difference between and wanker and ‘this year for sure ‘

    nothing !

  143. AR says:

0-0 houddog is best result for us.

Is Cesc tryin to grow his hair like his good friend Torres?

  144. ethangunner says:

    AR

best result for us is a Man U win !

keep chevski at a 2 point buffer

  145. Evo in Oz says:

no way, best result is a draw. we keep top spot and man scum stay further down the table. its a no brainer

kenny smith – Cesc was running just behind Denilson when he scored the goal, but the camera moves away after that, so no footage of the yellow card for cesc.

  146. Big Raddy says:

I quite fancy Cesc with his new look !!

    Don’t you?

Hi Rico. You sound like a ‘real’ Mum ….. “Get your hair cut” :-)

  147. david says:

I would like a draw because that involves giving our rivals 2 points total, but a win means they get 3 points total.

  148. Big Raddy says:

In the Setanta rating Clichy got a 6 !! Did he get points deducted for allowing a Northern Monkey to cripple him ?

And so did Song, who had a fine game.

What do these people atch.? All our players had good games. WG had another lapse, but otherwise I give the whole team an 8.5.

And fairplay to Bolton, who made it such an exciting game in the second half. They could have jsut defended and tried to limit their defeat, but instead they really gave us a game.

  149. Evo in Oz says:

yep the draw is a no brainer – ideally 0-0 and a few injuries

  150. Evo in Oz says:

Big Rad – agreed on the ratings bollocks, i pissed my pants reading that, the setanta bloke must have been on the hash again

  151. ethangunner says:

    man U are in 15th position ! with 4 points !

chelski who have recruited well and have plenty of strength need to loose ! they have 10 points !
and will go top of the table on 13 if they win !
its a no brainer alright !

chelski wont drop as many points as either us or Man U !
they play defensively and grind out 1 – 0 nils like a production line !
its important to see them drop as many points as possible !

even wenger and furgie are on side with this !
they didnt compliment each other this week for nothing !
they are Untied amongst a common enemy !

However chevski has like over 100 games unbeaten record at home !
and if man U can do it .. it will give us some breathing space ..

  152. david says:

I thought Bolton only gave us a game in the second half because of Wengers tatics of having no wingers and then having no wing backs after half time.
Why not just replace the left back or move Gallas over and bring Djourou on in his place.
Sagna could then get at them down 1 flank..

  153. ethangunner says:

    BR

    8.5 is MoM !
not sure everyone deserves it ..
but stand outs were alumina – denilson – song .. quite a good showing from the lesser
    players !

some people didnt rate alumina’s game but for me he made some blinders !
he dealt very well with the tall timber doing there typical bolton style crowding to unsettle the keeper on set plays… jens would be throwing punches ! and alumina was patting backs !

  154. finestcuts says:

This is the best way of reading Ethan’s posts, imagine a really loud self opinionated drunk bloke in a pub with an Aussie accent, a bit of a drawl……you Ozzie’s could probably get the impression spot on….and there you have it!

  155. ethangunner says:

    david
i thought that too .. move gallas over .. end of !
not sure why wenger didnt rate johan to play left center ! or just go LB !
im being converted on song however ..

he made a few mistakes .. and he doesnt compliment cesc too well YET !
but he covered the back 4 pretty well !

  156. Bud says:

I’m with David… I want a Manc win so Chelsea’s home record and the mental advantage it gives them broken…. Plus Big Al and The Arse are now big buddies and the ex Govern madman has said nice things about us and wants his big mate and his team that play football the right way to win the league!!!!

  157. ethangunner says:

    finest your a child !
just shows you , how old you are !
you know nothing about me !!
and you would be very sadly mistaken !

  158. Big Raddy says:

    True Ethan.

MOM for me is a 9.

El Tel is almost as anti-Blondie, as you you are anti-Ade. But if even you can say TT had a decent game, then perhaps ElTel can give plaudits when they are due. I thought Almunia was outstanding yesterday. His shot-svaing was great, his distribution first class, his positional play was good. Plus he really orchestrated his defence.

Perhaps we really do have a first-class keeper. Though time will tell.

  159. ethangunner says:

    bud

david said he wants a draw !!!

  160. ethangunner says:

    9 is a 2 goal scorer !
    10 is a hat trick ..

    well for me !

  161. kelsey says:

Big Raddy,I haven’t had the e mail from Pedro, though he said he sent it yesterday

  162. Mandanda says:

lol i find all this blog fights quite..esp if the fighters are full grown adults!!!

    as for football,

i am really looking forward to the carling cup game, would like to see the future…would like to see coquelin play, he was quite impressive in pre-season

  163. Keyser says:

Great game yesterday, we got through some torrid Bolton play where they threw everything at us in the second half and as soon as they start to tire, we throw Walcott on and you could see them all thinking that he was the one to chase.

It may only be Bolton but it’s something and when players who have taken stick in the past start to step their game up it can only be good for the team.

Eboue, Song and Adebayor all had good games, it really showed how hard Adebayor works for the team, he was even less selfish then normal and though he didn’t score showed how if you don’t score as a striker there’s still plenty of other ways to have a good game.

Also Bendtner looked sharp where as last season he looked like he was still on Championship timing. Anyway hope we can keep this up and even if we lose a game the fans don’t lose heart as quick as they’ve been to see the good points.

  164. ethangunner says:

    BR

alumina loses his nerve in the big games come the end of the season !
thats my only criticism of him for me ! he makes mistakes when the chips are down !

but with a game that has little pressure in it , it brings out his best ..
maybe that was because of jens on his back !

but we do have a class keeper , his name is fabianski !

  165. Bud says:

In which case I don’t agree with David…. Anyway give me a break Ethan old chum…. Am drunk in a bar in the Costa del Lanzarote tapping away on me Blackberry ignoring my wife !!!

    Manc win please !!!

  166. ethangunner says:

    Keyser

ade played the game of his life yesterday !
passing with skill ! good vision ! good runs that saw him chalking up only 2 off sides the whole game!
unselfish play ! he deserved his spot yesterday ! lets hope for more of the same !!!

  167. rico01 says:

Raddy – Mum – I like that, and I wish he was my son, either that or……………. ;)

  168. rico01 says:

Manure win for me too, especiall now he and Arsene are such good buddies!! ;)

  169. ethangunner says:

    bud ,

I .. like you understand the need to break the will of the chevs !
they got off to a blinder and need the reality check !

man U are on 4 points the chevs are on 10 .. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out
what is more favorable to us !

  170. goonermichael says:

off to watch the real enemy now

  171. Keyser says:

ethangunner – I think people are harsh on him, he scored 30 goals last season, two of the best volleys ever, and he still can’t shoot.

If he improves half as much as he did last season he’ll be awesome, We’re more of a team then ever, instead of relying on the individual as much as we have in the past.

As long as people work hard and do the simple things right they don’t have to have spectacular games all the time because it gives someone else the chance to shine instead.

  172. Evo in Oz says:

how many league titles have chelsea won in the last 1 years? oh yeah, Man U have the edge there as i seem to remember then winning it. case closed!

  173. goonermichael says:

The end result is that people are backing off posting on here today as this back stabbing is going on indefinitely

    Anyway,come on the Mancs!!!!

  183. Evo in Oz says:

  184. Big Raddy says:

first post on here, thought it would be about arsenal
but its not!! are we all gooners? ethan-you need to calm
down, take a chill pill, get out in the sunshine and stop being so
aggresive.methinks you have may have issues!finest-keep
up the good work!anyway game on and mancs to win.

  186. Big Raddy says:

    Bud,

I am deeply envious of you in your sunny bar. Have a great holiday.

Come on Ref. Send one of the bastards off. Don’t mind which side. Let’s see the media frenzy.

    What a miss by Ferdinand

  187. Evo in Oz says:

fuck the scum – i want a draw and some red cards. come on the chavs, equalise

  188. Bud says:

    1-0…YES!!!!!!!!

  189. this year for sure says:

    kelsey

    no offense to you,

i may be mistaken here but some people have been mean to you on this site before and it is wrong, i wont be one of them.

  190. Big Raddy says:

Good game so far. Piss poor work from Cech

  191. ethangunner says:

    this year for sure

this is football not dear danny ,
if you cant handle a heated debate take up knitting !

  192. Bud says:

Stop with the dear dierdri shit will ya…. God I wanna puke !!!!

P.S. Estrella lager is fecking lovely!!!

  193. Evo in Oz says:

    penalty

  194. Evo in Oz says:

this game is decending nicely into the mire – beautiful!

  195. Evo in Oz says:

another injury – van der saar fucked. gold. keep em coming

  196. Bud says:

Injuries galore and its not Arsenal… Are the gods shining on N5????

  197. kelsey says:

this year for sure,no one to my knowledge has been mean to me ,only been here about 3/4 weeks.

don’t anyone critise almunia, half hour gone cech made the mistake for the goal, and van der saar is shit as usual :)

  198. Evo in Oz says:

by the way, Deco was injured in the warm up – replaced by ballack…fucking ripper!

  199. Evo in Oz says:

scholes on a a yellow. you can lock in a red there. get down to william hill and get a hundred quid on that

  200. hounddog says:

I have always believed that Almunia has never been given the credit that he is due. Yesterday, while being fouled, he simply patted the guy on the back and got on with the game. Lehmann would have gone crazy. I think that Almunia does what he has to do when called upon and has a good raport with the defense.

  201. Evo in Oz says:

hounddog – agreed. i noticed those small things too. makes the difference sometimes. he is quite athletic too and good reaction times also!

  202. Big Raddy says:

This is great stuff. Could be a red cardfest

  203. Evo in Oz says:

mike riley loves the red cards – cant wait for him to start brandishing them!

  204. Evo in Oz says:

i can see drogba coming off the bench in the 2nd half to get the draw – perfect!

  205. hounddog says:

Just a question of time before Chelsea equalize! I agree with Big Raddy, a red card is not far away.

  206. goonermichael says:

The mancs are definiteley the ugliest team on the planet.

  207. goonermichael says:

Berbatov deserves a red for his hairline

  208. kelsey says:

Glad we didn’t resign the nomad anelka,i think he has scored 3 league goals since january

Bud coronita and lemon to you too :)

  209. Pedro says:

    Afternoon Grovers!

Great victory yesterday, fantastic effort by the boys!

Almunia was excellent again… and after watching Cech drop another clanger, I’m glad he is ours!

  210. goonermichael says:

    Afternoon Pedro
take a minute to go through today’s posts please

  211. ethangunner says:

fergie will let the boy run loose after the break ! ronaldo will come on !
i would take scholes off ! no point in going down to 10 men !

  212. ethangunner says:

what are you saying Michael ?

  213. kelsey says:

sorry 3 crap keepers in one game, and they talk about almunia.

  214. Geoff says:

Okay guys I leave you all alone and it all goes off, let’s forget what’s gone on before and the first person who starts again goes into moderation to cool off.

  215. Pedro says:

I see there are a few, ‘How did you ever doubt Arsene’ posts.

Last time I checked, we’d only played a few games and we’ve lost one of them to Fulham.

I think it is a bit premature to start waxing over Arsene this early in the year. It took until Feb last year for it all to collapse…

The main complaint about the squad is that it lacks depth… my opinion of that still hasn’t changed. We all know they can play football… but when the injuries start to stack up… that is when the problems come.

Overall though, I was really pleased. Beating Bolton after going one down is no easy task.

    Onwards and upwards!

  216. ethangunner says:

youll get no problems there from me geoff !

  217. Pedro says:

You might get some trouble from me… haha!

    Just kidding.

Imagine that… getting blocked from a site I administer!

  218. ethangunner says:

    hehe !

it all started when i said ade had a good game :)

  219. Big Raddy says:

    good call Ethan

  220. Bud says:

Yeee-Haaaaa… Happy hour in Landsogrotee !!!!

  221. chris says:

    hi guys,

was at the match yesterday with 30 coach loads of irish supporters, the travelling gunners must have got a shock to see so much re-inforcements even if they didnt know the chants!

  222. Big Raddy says:

So far Berbs really looks like a £30m + player . (joke)

  223. hounddog says:

    Time to move on Geoff.

  224. david says:

If Fergie pulls his tracksuit bottoms up any more he will have to undo his flies to watch the game.. Hey uuup..

  225. finestcuts says:

I don’t believe I’m guilty of anything other than criticising Ethan, if I get moderated for that then fair enough, I didn’t realise it was OK for Ethan to pop a strop and that he is immune to criticism, and that I can get done for it. One rule for Ethan?

  226. trindle says:

Yet another reason to be grateful for not re-signing Anelka!

  227. Stu says:

Fuckin wanker Anelka, he actually just missed an open goal. Defo miss of the season. Not even 2yards out. Twat!

  228. hounddog says:

Ethangunner, what went on between us was handbags but I think you owe finestcuts an appology for calling him a cunt. I thought that was not allowed on here?

  229. trindle says:

Fuckin ell, the chavs have scored.
How many yellow cards has Riley dished out now?

  230. hounddog says:

    There it is 1-1

  231. hounddog says:

    Chelsea may just win this.

  232. chris says:

id take him to thof, i dont care

  233. Big Raddy says:

NO Vidic. ….. ! Piss poor defending

  234. trindle says:

Hopefully neither are happy with the point … cue 10 mins of pressure with loads of the cunts on yellow cards.

  235. rico01 says:

Hey Bud – Estrella is much better than San Miquel for me, its crisper and drier, i thought they only sold that in Spain and Balearics – You lucky ol’ devil…. I love it…

Who honestly thinks we are NOT capable of beating either of these two sides, and we still have a lot more in the engine and a good few players to reach peak… Oh, and return from injury…………..

Boy, I wish we could have stolen Alex from The Chavs :(

  236. finestcuts says:

I don’t want an apology, that’s what he thinks of me, I want people like him to think that of me.

  237. rico01 says:

Sir Mike Riley – I hope you have dished enough cards out to ensure that many Chavs and Manure players are banned by the time we play them….

And, Has that S***e Andy Gray become a Chelsea supporter suddenly???? Tosser :)

  238. Big Raddy says:

    Lovely quote from BBC

    1548: Half-time Tottenham 0-0 Wigan
The home team are booed from the field.

  239. trindle says:

and the spuds 0-0 at half time. C’mon Wigan.

  240. Big Raddy says:

    Happy with that.

Saying…. “we are top of the League, We are top of the League”

  241. Geoff says:

Finest the point is to move on, if you come back with anything it just makes it go on, my comment was just to try and get back to having fun, so we are now top of the league, let’s enjoy that.

  242. kelsey says:

I always maintained Berbatov was a luxury and nothing has changed my mind after seeing his first two games.

Out of interest isn’t the ref meant to give 3 sharp short whistles to end the game. :)

  243. Mandanda says:

Great match great result for us…the chavs are looking good I have to say, we’d have to finish above them to win the league!

  244. goonermichael says:

That Ronaldo is a cynical fucker

  245. goonermichael says:

Hull look like they’re going into the top 4

  246. paul says:

You actually have to finish above everybody to win the league

  247. ethangunner says:

well we are still ahead but ,
chelsea are still the only unbeaten club in the EPL !
they are still the ones to beat .. Man U are flat ..

  248. goonermichael says:

    I think we’ll beat them

  249. finestcuts says:

No probs Geoff, to me the guy is backward first he comes out with:

i do not say to you i disagree with you TOTALLY finest , i think im right your wrong ..
but i wont debate it with you !
so drop the subject matter !!

    ——

    then

    this year for sure

this is football not dear danny ,
if you cant handle a heated debate take up knitting !

    ———————-

He responds in a way that would get AKB’s moderated, then he accuses people of having an “AKB” mentality when all he wants is for people to tolerate his stupid insults.

He’s a big man when it comes to giving it out but he sure as hell can’t handle it, or his drink.

  250. choy says:

finest and ethan.. cmon you guys.. we are all here for arsenal…

you guys need to lighten up!!!

  251. ethangunner says:

finest get over it ! you big girls blouse !
you started the insults calling me an alcoholic !
That’s a fucking insult in my books !
you got the appropriate action !

Which is clearly not the case ! AGAIN FOR THE HARD OF HEARING
i dont drink at home .. never have, unless im entertaining or partying !

  253. choy says:

good to hear that ethan.. finest.. you need to let it go too.. cmon mate…

  254. trindle says:

    Hi Choy

Great weekend . could get even better with a Wigan goal or two and a win for Europe in the Golf.

  255. ethangunner says:

    finestcuts Says:
    September 21, 2008 at 11:54 am

Ethan it’s blind hatred, you’re blatantly an alcoholic who’s always pissed sitting at the puter.

LONG BEFORE I CALLED YOU ANYTHING !!!!

  256. finestcuts says:

Ethan get yourself off to your ladyboy and get over it, you’re not beyond criticism, you’re just a bigoted muppet.

    I’ve dropped it.

  257. hounddog says:

so all in all a good weekend for the Arsenal. Let’s just enjoy the moment.

  258. goonermichael says:

I was wrong about hull. I missed Villa

  259. goonermichael says:

they just conceded a second anyway

  260. choy says:

pompey are getting ripped a big one!

  261. goonermichael says:

I predicted Portsmouth would do well this year

  262. choy says:

yeah trindle..a great weekend… still smiling after rippin bolton apart!!!!

  263. choy says:

    fuck me 6-0!!!

  264. trindle says:

Just wondering how many Pompey defenders I have in the Fantasy …

  265. ethangunner says:

    there’s criticism and there’s abuse !
and you crossed the line first !!!

    have a nice day :)

  266. choy says:

haha trindle.. thank fuck left distin on the bench!!!

  267. choy says:

ethan.. i thought you let it go?!

  268. goonermichael says:

    6 nil

  269. ethangunner says:

yes well that was until i was called a ??

    bigot muppet ?
what precisely is one of them :) ???

  270. finestcuts says:

Ethan you puss, I can fire back, don’t be so sensitive, off to the t-girl club now..
    That’s what you’re there for.

  271. finestcuts says:

    ethangunner Says:

so get your fucking facts straight sonny boy !

I think Ethan you swore at me first, take your own advice….and learn to read …bigoted….adjective before the noun.

You only need one question mark by the way.

  272. ethangunner says:

    yawwwwwwwwwwnnn!

  273. goonermichael says:

    1652: Full-time Tottenham 0-0 Wigan
Dull, dreary and with hardly any decent chances to describe. All is not well at White Hart Lane.

Do you feel sorry for them?

  274. georgiaan-gunner says:

    look,where are spuds now?!?!?!=))=))=))=))

  275. ethangunner says:

    georgiaan

it is funny but we are only 5 games into the season ..
its a bit soon to think they will face relegation dont you :) ?

  276. Mandanda says:

why don’t we just leave ethan and his mates to continue their e-fight…its getting really interesting now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  277. chris says:

how long till ramos legs it?
teh situation could become worse, still lets enjoy the good times while they are here,

  278. Mean Lean says:

Rosicky, Eduardo, Diaby, Silvestre, Nasri and Bishcoff all to come back and we’re brushing aside teams that we have struggled with in the past. I’ve backed us to win the league since pre season and i will continue to.

If Wenger wins the league without buying any players does it mean that he knows? Just wondering like.

  279. finestcuts says:

I’m not interested in talking to that bloke, or about him.

  280. ethangunner says:

    chris
definition of a poison chalice ?

being the manager of Newcastle or Spurs :)

  281. patthegooner says:

Fuck me its been a bit tasty in here today

So pleased I havent got a Pompey defender in my dream team, Although I think Anelka is out, he is shit when he is not in an Arsenal Shirt.

So the Spuds bottom with 2 Points, do you think they will sack Ramos? Surprised myself, they have some good players on paper, maybe they just changed too much in the Summer and it isnt gelling together.

As for us, happy at the moment, I am still concerned in the middle, Denilson shows promise but keeps playing sloppy passes which is fine against Bolton but not against your Liverpools, Man Ure’s and Chavski’s, cant argue with his effort and goals though. And I am still concerened that any more injuries in there and we are really scraping the barrell. Bad news about Rosicky, I thought he would be back by now, and not discussing pain killers with Eduardo, Diaby and Nasri. Looks like the Fulham game did us a a massive favour.

  282. kelsey says:

I posted this morning about an article today about Ramos, that he hates living in london and the rain(Hleb part 2) and that he did not see eye to eye with the board, and it was a case of him thinking of leaving and going back to Spain, rather than being sacked.Today’s result wont help.

It’s been a great weekend and even Noel Edmunds is wearing guyliner on deal or no Deal, right now :)

  283. ethangunner says:

    Pat

the huge win against bolton brings all the AKB out ..
you know how it it with there delusional rants !

shame chevski didnt get rolled ! it would have been nice to deflate some egos
but they are still undefeated and still in the drivers seat …
we have had some favorable fixtures so far ..
liverpool played man U chevski played amn U .. we lost to fulham ..
lets keep things in perspective 5 games in shall we !

  284. patthegooner says:

    Mean Lean

If we win the league and I always hope we will then Wenger most definately does know.

Just cant see it, it is a great start and I will enjoy that but I still think we will run out of gas again at the business end of the Season.

  285. ethangunner says:

    it is :)

  286. patthegooner says:

    No I agree Ethan

We will see what happens in those run of matches against the other top 4 clubs.

I would love it if we won it but I still think it is still too much to ask of this squad. It would take un-believeable luck on the injury front to keep us strong till May.

  287. ethangunner says:

    pat

here here ! a voice of logic !
history is on our side ! some people just sound foolish ..
thinking after bolton we are king of the world !

i do think we can get some mileage out of staying in the hunt if wenger takes
winning the easier games seriously !
and doesnt start doing his typical lets rest cesc – nasri and all the other key players for the C.L !
and gets rolled by easy opponents !
anything is possible if he stays focused on the EPL !

but you know he wont !

  288. kelsey says:

patthegooner, forget about Rosicky, unlikely we will ever see him again, shame a great talent, but plagued with injuries.I agree about Denilson, but if you take the game yesterday there were up to 7/8 players who could have scored.I see no problem with that instead of depending on a Henry or Adebayor to score the most, actually i see it as a positive. One CD needed to bolster the defencemaybe Silvestre will fill that roll short term.We are an attacking side and maybe the idea is if they score we will score 2.of course Chelsea have such strength in depth,I feel they will set the benchmark this season.Anywa not many of us thought after Fulham,we would be were we are today, and winning breeds confidence.

  289. ethangunner says:

chelsea is just a scary machine ..

deco out drogba in .. the kalou in ..
there are too strong .. man U is more beatable this season !
and look very shaky ! but scoring 1st at chevskis home was always going to be hard to hang on !
shame , i would of loved them to look more human , and eat a loss !

and most importantly break there 4 year at home record !!!

  290. goonermichael says:

I’m off this is doing my head in

  291. ethangunner says:

    kelsey

i think you can forget dudu for a while also ! its a shame offensively he would be handy !
like you said all we can do is hold our nerve and breed confidence !
i hope its not a case of peaking early again this season !

  292. ethangunner says:

    good

  293. hounddog says:

I am getting really confused here. Why are people being refered to as AKB’s simply because some are taking the positives out of beating Bolton? I have not read anyone shouting the fact we will win the league because of it or anything about Wenger being the greatest? Yet it appears some amongst us simply don’t want to enjoy the outcome of this weekend.

Let’s at least hope things improve in the Ryder cup for Europe.

  294. trindle says:

I wish Eduardo had a better nickname ;-)

  295. rico01 says:

And women are meant to be the one’s that gossip and bicker ;) !!

hounddog – it was a bloody good win and a a ground we hate to go to, I am and will remain positive :)

jeepers, if things get negative now with some, what will it be like IF we get beat, and as said earlier and yesterday, we have many players that are either not on fire or to regaing fitness, i really hold hope for this season…. :)

Guys who want to conduct a verbal fight – is it not right to show respect for Geoff and Pedro who give everything to Le Grove, and for what ………

US is the answer to that, they do it for us…. and we all know there is NO better place to talk about our FINE club – please, for the sake of them and us, shake hands, kiss and make up…………. :)

  296. Big Raddy says:

Well said Rico (the voice of reason !!).

  297. hounddog says:

Rico. That is exactly my point, as you say, it was a bloody good win at a ground we hate to go to!! Therefore People should not be refered to as AKB’s simply because they are enjoying the moment. For those who dont understand, the win at Bolton was a very positive thing and we should all be enjoying that, nothing more nothing less :-)

  298. hounddog says:

On a closing note for the day, as my dinner is about ready :-) Special thanks to Geoff and Pedro for their hard work in order to make this the best site in town. I guess some of us don’t make life easy for them. :-) :-) :-)

Have a nice evening everyone and remember, no matter how upset we may get at each other, “we are top of the fucking league” :-) :-) :-)

  299. rico01 says:

Also, I would be more peeeeeeeeeed off if we drew at home to Wigan this season…

    Tee Hee ;)

  300. Big Raddy says:

Sadly, it is not going so well in the Golf.

But how much better could the w/e gone for the Arse.

Top of the table. Spurs bottom. MU injuries, Chavs lose Deco in the warm up.

    Happy Days….

  301. rico01 says:

hounddog – enjoy your meal, anything nice??

Tomorrow is a new day, Happy Mondays :)

  302. rico01 says:

Raddy – you are watching the golf , me too – I fear Geoff will be on his way to a hangover if we win, although is he not one of those lucky ones who doesnt suffer them .

Europe will pluck this win out against all the odds – and a happy weekend will be completed :)

  303. kelsey says:

rico don’t start with him about food, you will never hear the end of it. :)

  304. rico01 says:

yippppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee kelsey – i love food, and love talking about it…. Yummie :)

  305. finestcuts says:

Look, I am not interested in conducting a verbal fight, I was responding and criticising to someone who put on a strop, started swearing and insulting me, maybe I should just allow it.

I’ll tell you what, since I am partly responsible since I have stood up for myself, and my actions are seen as not showing respect for Le Grove, I will moderate myself, take some time out as suggested and leave it at that, I’ll save everyone the trouble and the time of having to do it for me.

I have better things to do than to argue with someone who puts an exclamation mark at the end of each statement, calls other people delusional etc. but cannot take criticism themselves.

The individual I argued with takes offence at anything, has a strop and then I’m the bad guy for responding, not a problem.

We’re top of the league, that’s the main thing, I apologise to management for having to read this bullshit as I know that’s what it is.

  306. Seb says:

When the cat’s away, the mice bitch -.-

  307. rico01 says:

finest – pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese dont go, you are just one of many who I love to have a bit banter with :)

  308. charybdis1966 says:

There’s been a fai ramount of flaming going on here lately – just goes to show that no matter what the topic of a forum is there will always be that element to it, and I’ll continue to do what is best in that situation and ignore the inflammatorty talk.

However, seeing the psuds get booed off their home pitch at half and full time warms the very cockles of my heart. You’d have to have a hear tof stone not to laugh at the travails of the spuds – yes, it’s only 5 games in and things can change very quickly, but if the spuds loose at the barcoodes in the mickey mouse cup this week then the early season optimism for the cro magnon maen of N17 wil evaporate like the exhaust fumes from the taxis of their annual departing managers.

And why shouldn’t we rejoice in the misfortune of the spuds – would they offer us any sympathy if we were at the bottom of the table ?

    Not bloody likely ! :)

  309. rico01 says:

    I like that chary :)

  310. Big Raddy says:

    Finest.

That is not the point. No-one wants you to moderate yourself (well,…. I am taking the role of spokesman for Le Grove !).

You are a valued member of the site, and I enjoy your insights. As do many others.

However, if you do decide to take some time out, please be assured that you will be welcomed back.

  311. Big Raddy says:

Seb. On the subject of heated discussion.

I thought you handled your spat with the idiot Jules1 with dignity and restraint.

    Well done

  312. charybdis1966 says:

May I add to Rico and Radders’ thoughts as I value considered debate and well expressed thoughts also.

  313. rico01 says:

Raddy – you are so bloomin right – but I say this and who ever has the head that this cap fits… so be it

No-one who comments on this site has the devine right to ‘slag off’ any other bloggers comment, or be rude about any views. As per the Le Grove rules…. You know who you are, and please, is it really worth it ?? Is it really fair ?? And if you were like that in a Pub, you would no dobt get a smack in the choppers!! ;)

Le Grove posts the most comments, more probably than any other club, not just our own.. Lets not as individuals, or as one drive, long standing respected folk away….

Come On, are we not united for our club ??? :)

  314. Pedro says:

Mean Lean, if Arsene wins the league… of course he knows. I’ll be over the moon.

If Arsenal lose a game, will you be back here saying… does Arsene know, I was just wondering? I couldn’t find your comment that said that after the Fulham/Kiev game?

The season is a long old stretch and as fantastic as our start has been… lets not get to far ahead of ourselves. We should have won all of our games… as we haven’t played a good team yet. Bolton don’t have Allardyce anymore and Blackburn have lost Hughes. They are not the same beasts anymore.

I am sure we’ll have a great year, but getting all ‘I told you so’ after a good run is a bit silly. I am very positive about the upcoming year… Denilson has shocked me to the core, Eboue is becoming a cult hero and Song looked ok.

Happy days. Lets hope we keep on building from here!

Oh, and Le Grove backed the team for the league as well…

Also, on the topic of argument – this isn’t a site for bitching at each other. I don’t want anyone leaving the site so next week I am going be at my PC all day everyday moderating like the Chinese government.

I apologise if things have got out of hand this week, Geoff and I have been very busy but rest assured, petulance and argumentative behaviour stops as of now.

We are all supposed to be buddies, and I would appreciate it people could put there differences behind them and get on!

I don’t even understand the heated nature of the forum today… we just won?

I am off for some food and some beer. Catch you in a bit Grovers!

    P.S COME ON EUROPE!

I was only got to see the brief highlights on Match of the Day and we all know how editing can give a distorted view of how the match actually went, but I did see a number of good saves from Almunia, so I would tend towards him as MOM as he kept us in the game when Bolton came on strong.

    Hi Grovers,

I haven’t had much to say on this site recently as everyone’s been saying it for me. In light of the ‘discussion’ that has been raging today, I’d like to just add my word of appreciation.

Sadly I have only recently discovered Le Grove, but I can categorically state that it is head and shoulders above any other arsenal blog site. The passion often erupts into argument but one thing is for sure – you guys and gals all really have Arsenal in your blood.

Keep it up and don’t apologise for caring……..

ethan – truely dropped, but just for you ;)

  336. choy says:

yeah chary beach bum had a good game.. he’s our hollywood keeper….!!!

  337. Rasputin says:

You’ve probably already debated this point, but what a hypocrite that poodle-headed twat Mark Lawrenson was on MOTD regarding the assault on Clichy.

He condems players for showing disrespect to referees because it sets a bad example to kids but praises a 2 footed over the ball challenge that results in a player being taken to hospital. Would he like to see 12 year olds in the park lunging in and doing serious damage to one another.

Alan Shearer said it on MOTD a few years ago “if you let Arsenal play football they’ll beat you” – so it’s obvious, don’t play football. Kick the shit out of players (AKA cheating) because that’s all you’re good for – and these same pundits blame the influx of foreign players for the lack of quality in the national side.

  338. choy says:

all twats rasputin.. they never want to see arsenal win…

  339. Rasputin says:

Are we being paranoid choy – or is that the truth.

Supporters of most clubs seem to think the press is against them. I definitely don’t think we get equal treatment when it comes to screening highlights on MOTD

  340. choy says:

luckily i don’t have access to motd .. but i do download highlights and sometimes.. they discuss the game…

they always have something negative to say….

  341. Rasputin says:

I think Henry Winter’s comments on Arsenal are always very perceptive and fair.

  342. Keyser says:

Rasputin – Do you ever watch ‘Goals On Sunday’ on SkySports ? they have Chris Kamara going over the highlights of games and he presents a much more balanced view even though they have less time to go through everything.

Did you watch the game ?!

  343. choy says:

what a game keyser.. what a game.. the senseless battering of bolton was sweet.. just after we had conceeded.. we could have had like 4 or so at that time!!!

  344. Rasputin says:

Kelsey – unfortunately I work on sundays and I don’t have Setanta so I only have MOTD and informed opinion from the blog sites to help me understand yesterday’s game.

From what I saw, Denilson, Eboue, Bendtner and Song did well, Ade was a good team plare and Theo injected some excitement and Cesc has currently lowered his standards to being a very good player – but he’ll get back to his best.

I am concerned about the way we conceded and I can’t understand why fundamental flaws are not being ironed out in training.

  345. Rasputin says:

Keyser – sorry for misspelling your name…

  346. Keyser says:

Rasputin – Do you from Henry Winter’s column in the Telegraph ? he’s eloquent and verbose with his commentary and while fair he definetly seems to support Manchester United.

choy – Did you watch it on Setanta ? The commentators always annoy the hell out of me.

The game was great, I know it’s hard to gage how well we’re doing right now because we haven’t played any of the top teams but soo many of the players that were constantly criticised are beginning to show the little improvements in their game that could define us being also rans and actual contenders.

  347. choy says:

rasputin.. i think the goal was clichy’s fault.. bugger was supposed to be on the corner post but he left a slight gap to his right.. anyway nobody picked up davies and he pretty much had a free header…

    now for the important part..

DOES anyone have a clip of fabregas showboating after the third goal? for which he got a yellow?

if you see the second goal.. fabregas picks up the ball from the net and kicks it into the crowd!!! he sure was taking the piss!!!

  348. Rasputin says:

Keyser – it’s funny how two people can read the same articles and draw completely different conclusions. I have always felt that Henry EWinter’s column in the Telegraph revealed him to be a ‘closte’ Arsenal fan. But he does like to see football played properly. I’d rather see Manure come second to us in the Prem than pool or chelski

  349. choy says:

keyser.. i think its sky here in india..

we have espnstar that shows us the games here.. but i think they have feed off the sky network!

  350. Keyser says:

Rasputin – Don’t worry about it, hopefully you can work out the word I missed in the first sentance from my previous post. Heh.

Yeah all those players are beginning to step up, it’s like when they say ‘only as good as the weakest link in the chain’ if those weak links begin to improve we’re going to move on alot as a team.

I don’t know about Fabregas, I don’t think he’s had bad games, on duty with Spain he talked about how he was going to have to improve the defensive aspects of his game to get a regualr run in the team and yesterday in put in several key challenges that lead to our breaks on the counter.

At the moment he’s just sitting between Song and Denilson and switches freely from helping out in defense to attack, if Denilson and him can interchange freely it’d be awesome.

When Rosicky and Nasri are in the team you’d have 5 extremly hard working players who hopefully can swap places freely and would be a match for any midfield in the World, like a couple of years ago with Gilberto behind, Fabregas, Pires, Reyes and Ljungberg.

  351. Rasputin says:

choy…it may have been Clichy’s fault but you can see that Gallas is a mile away from Davies and seemed to be ducking rather than competing to head the ball. I don’t think that cap’n Billy (scorer of important goals that he is) is the bravest when it comes to risking his good looks.

  352. choy says:

haha rasputin.. well put.. at least that stupid mohawk is gone!!

cap’n billy was a striker.. and i still think he is!

  353. choy says:

and i think anelka is still a closet arse fan.. he doesn’t seem to like scoring for chelsea all that much…

penalty miss in the CL final.. and today ….

  354. Rasputin says:

Big Phil, on the oher hand didn’t need to worry about his good looks – actually, when you think of it neither did Bould, Adams or Keown. Thats’s it we must sign plug ugly defenders…..

  355. Keyser says:

Rasputin – It’s just down to that bit of extra height I think in the middle, Wenger chooses Toure and Gallas because they have very good recovery pace, we’re not normally defending the 6 yard box because we’re attacking soo often, so we’re more likely to get caught out on the counter attack where our pace at the back becomes key.

The only way Bolton had any luck was when they were continously lumping balls forward and to be fair Davies is very good in the air, he doesn’t get the best of service at Bolton but always manages to score goals even playing as the lone striker.

Djourou has that height but is it really worth placing him in front of Toue or Gallas just on that basis ?!

As for Henry Winter, it may be because of the way he writes, it’s always very colourful and maybe I’ve just read more United articles of his then Arsenal, so i’m mistaken into thinking he’s especially enamoured with United when all his articles are like that.

  356. Keyser says:

Hah Choy, he’s been at Chelsea for 8-9 onths now and the amount of easy chances he misses is amazing,

I saw Pizarro play for Werder Bremen midweek and he seems to have the same disease, it may be a Chelsea thing.

  357. Mandanda says:

MOTD – I think I mentioned this earlier that I stopped watching this crap a long time ago. I was particularly raged by their handling/coverage of Eduardo’s incedent.

As far as football writers go, I would agree with Keyser on Winter’s eloquence but would say that I sometimes find his analyses lacking depth and mostly partisan or pro establishment. Martin Samuel and to an extent Gabrielle Marcotti (both of the Times) provide a more insightful ‘prognosis’ of football matters. They have an almost scientific approach to sports writing often backing their assertions with facts/sound logical deductions.

  358. choy says:

    hey mandanda.. whats up…

geez keyser.. pizzaro was another one.. he sure was a work of art!!!

  359. Rasputin says:

    Keyser

Managers are highly analytical in their approach to games these days – and it is hardly a secret that Arsenal are perceived to be vulnerable to set pieces and the ball over the top. I don’t want to open the Gallas/Toure/Djourou debate up all over again, but wouldn’t it be an idea to play the taller more effective header of the ball against the likes of Bolton.

Not wishing to make a cheap pun, but an extra few inches can make a huge difference. Keepers like Green and Given would probably be amongst the very best if they were that bit taller. Modern athletes are showing that you can be tall and quick off the mark at the same time (Bolt and Lomou have proved that).

I remember in the Edu?Viira/Petite era at Arsenal, a commentator remarked that Arsenal were a big strong side but with pace and technical ability.

  360. Mandanda says:

    hey choy…

i’m looking forward to the CC match on tue would like to see coquelin play he looked promising in pre-season games

brilliant wknd for the Arsenal, shame it ain’t May yet

  361. david says:

Henry Winter was on Fans Forum on the Arse TV on thursday with Tony Woodcock, seems to know a lot about Arsenal and talks sense..

  362. choy says:

i miss weekday matches as i am at work.. yeah will be a good showcase..

coquelin sure is one tough little nut isn’t he..

i think ramsey and song will start though!

  363. Rasputin says:

David – I agree about Henry Winter.

Isn’t it funny, if we’re not debating the football, we’re debating what other people say about our football – sad bastards aren’t we haha?

  364. Mandanda says:

    choy

with all our players out injured we might have to risk a few first team players against those shielfield cloggers

song needs those games as he missed pre-season and yeah i would like to see ramsey and vela start for us

henry winter talks sense no doubt and i was a fan until i started reading Martin Samuel

  365. david says:

Not only do we get bad press, when they show the Champions League games over here. The other Top 4 side is always on either ITV1 or SS1 and we are on ITV4 or SSXtra or somewhere where you need a Sky box to see it.
It’s always been that way since I can remember even though we play the best football..

  366. Rasputin says:

Reading what pundits say about us is a bit like reading your hosroscope – you only want to believe the ones that make you look good.

Sometimes the truth is hard to digest. Arsenal fans are perceived to be a rare breed of benevolant supporters that would choose the art of beautiful football over trophies…..

  367. goonermichael says:

Has anyone else got the feeling that eboue’s going to prove us all wrong this year?

  368. Keyser says:

David – Do you know if they repeat it at anytime ? I’d have loved to see him comment, dayum can’t believe I missed that.

Rasputin – I think weighing it up Wenger just thought it would be better to have the more experienced duo at the back, I haven’t really seen Djourou dominate that many players like Davies who are good in the air, though he’s still quick and athletic.

So you could say to deal with the high ball we could’ve played Djourou, but then if we keep a high line then Davies isn’t going to beat either for pace, I remember him trying to race Clichy to the ball a couple of times in the first half and only one players winning that race, the only luck they had was when he went off and we had to switch it around at the back.

We had Song covering the midfield and they were unlikely to pass it around us and on set pieces we can bring Adebayor and Bendtner back so it only leaves a few oppurtunies for them to realise Davies aerial effectiveness, unlucky for us they managed to do so which is a worry.

We mention Vieira, but how many players are there around that could actually match him for ability, size, strength and work rate in his younger years, the top teams play 5 in midfield and all three employ the smaller, mobile duracell bunny type like, Essien, Mascherano, Anderson and Hargreaves.

Gilberto was great in the air but then Flamini was perpetual motion, where we have a weakness there may be a strength elsewhere.

  369. Mandanda says:

Just watching the match btw barca and gijon, the commentator noted that gijon only use players of spanish nationality. i also know until recently, atletico bilbao was comprised of only players from the basque region. isn’t this against EU employment law?

Imagine having such policies in the the premier league…

  370. Keyser says:

Choy – Isn’t there anyway you can record games ?!

Rasputin – LoL at the horoscope comment, I was also going to mention people like Lawrenson are froma bygone age, he doesn’t seem to have learned that football’s moved on since the 80′s or even since say 5 years ago.

Samuel’s good, umm James Richardson and Marcotti, Guillem Balague, Sid Lowe..

goonermichael – Considering how low an opinion of him many fans have how hard do you think he’d have to try ?!

  371. Mandanda says:

    EU discrimination law even?

  372. choy says:

goonermichael i think he will.. i thought he would go mental celebrating his goal… but there was nothing extravagant.. that lad is determined to prove all his doubters wrong!!

  373. choy says:

Keyser. … live games are where it’s at!!

but yeah i do download highlights of games i have missed!

  374. david says:

Keyser; I think they only repeat it three hours later and then show both again on Arse plus 1.
It was worth watching just to see Tony Woodcocks hair, he looks like an artist or French clothes designer.. :)

  375. goonermichael says:

I think there is a definite improvement on last season. He’s still not that good but he’s scored now so maybe he’ll get some confidence. Wenger isn’t going to sell him anytime soon and he’s hardly ever injured so I hope so.

  376. Rasputin says:

Keyser – I accept what you say and Saturday’s result proved that the strategy was correct. AW has said that he will only bring in players that will improve the squad.

I would suggest that since we have a plethora of quick mobile defenders and midfielders, it would be a good idea to consider a Cana-type player to counteract the crude approach of non-footballing sides if one were available. Without this kind of enforcer, your creative/speedy players can become targets and suffer injury – or am I living in the past with Mark Lawrenson?

  377. goonermichael says:

Rasputin you don’t want to live anywhere with mark lawrenson

  378. Rasputin says:

Mark Lawrenson – I worship the ground he’s going to…………..

  379. goonermichael says:

Rasputin this is a true story.

about 15 years ago one of my clients from the bbc married a girl who used to go out with lawrenson. I know that everyone has a past and we have to respect that and live in the now so to speak but imagine everytime you see him on motd and thinking “he’s shagged my wife” I’d probably have to kill myself.

  380. Mandanda says:

Without trying to sound like an AKB, I felt the picking 4 players across midfield with good defensive abilities like we did against bolton is the best way to counteract physical teams teams whilst playing 442, manu adopted a similar tactic against chelski today. In this instance you may not need a specialist defensive player as all four defend collectively like we did so well yesterday. Nonetheless, it would have be good if we got a an extra midfielder of quality to add to the numbers we already have.

  381. Rasputin says:

goonermichael – it could be worse – could be David Pleat……

  382. Keyser says:

David – I know this may sound silly, but who the hell is Shoval ? He’s always on it, maybe i’m too young to remember but I have no idea who he is ?!

Rasputin – Kompany seemed to be perfect for that tall, dominant defender, maybe he didn’t want to sit on the bench, we were linked with Curtis Davies a Couple of years back, he was loaned to Villa and then suddenly his price went upto 10 million.

I didn’t mean to say you were living in the past, Sorry, it’s just Lawrenson seems to think all tackles are ok as long as the person gets the ball first, but if he took a look around World Football they’ve been trying to irracdicate studs up tackles for years.

I haven’t seen much of Cana, watched Marsille play Liverpool and he looked good, but Youtube clips make him like an animal, on a sidenote Valbuena for them looked good aswell.

It’s tiring seeing our players get injured almost every week, I wish the FA would actually do something about it, I was thinking just get our players to have that edge, Song has some agression in him and Denilson, Vieira could be really fieira but it was only when provoked, hopefully this year refs give us the protection we deserve.

A few years ago we’d get slated for having too many reds, now we’ve sorted out our disciplinary record we get battered in games.

  383. goonermichael says:

Keyser I think shovel is from m people

  384. rico01 says:

Night night all, a few drinks and that is all i can type ;)

    Be safe :)

  385. Rasputin says:

Keyser – you’re right, it is very frustrating seeing our players get battered. It even happens in europe now as was shown midweek with Theo.

It’s almost as though refs consider it justified to allow other sides to kick lumps out of us since it is unfair competition in terms of footballing ability. The fact is that it only takes one ‘badly timed’ tackle to take one of our players out of a game and the opposition may even consider a red card as a price worth paying

  386. Pedro says:

Just had another person in the spam gloating about us winning?

I don’t really understand that attitude? I am an Arsenal fan… I love it when we win!

I don’t recall the site ever saying we wouldn’t challenge this year?

Who is up next? Sheffield United? Let’s hope Jacky boy leads the way in that Competition this year!

Goonermichael, I was with a bird once who’d been with John Terry… it didn’t last long…

  387. Pedro says:

Anyway, another successful day despite the issues earlier!

    I’m off, catch you later!

  388. peachesgooner says:

    Evening everyone

Had a very busy day, so just ploughed my way through all todays posts. Wow theres been some fireworks today and we won the game 3-1 and we are top of the league for the whole week and maybe beyond . . . . good times.

Will the motd pundits ever say anything nice about us and our fabulous football? They couldn’t have been more disinterested in how we played and were deperate to defend the tackle on clichy. I think Alan Shearer just goes along with what Mark Lawrenson says – pathetic!!

This weekend must go down as one of the best as far as other results go – pool, manure and chavs all drop points, bottenham stay right there at the bottom of the table and we rise sleekly to the top of the league with a great win against bolton.

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE.

Can’t wait to be singing it at the Emirates next saturday.

    Nite all xx

  389. ethangunner says:

    Pedro
Problem is .. you can have an opinion on Le grove , but then when you get that HUGE win over bolton (cough !) you get all the AKB come out of the closet just to give you a bit of the I TOLD YOU SO’S ! It honestly did start the second’ i gave ade some praise’ !ohhh the irony of it ! i say ade played a good game then you get some #### tell me he has an opposing view !

So what do i care ???????
DONT TELL ME SHIT IF YOU CANT SUSTAIN A CONVERSATION

Last night i could of let loose ! but i didn’t ( out of respect for you guys!) ! i took all the abuse under the fuckin sun from a Nancy boy , Somehow im up every morning at 7 am , when im an alcoholic ! and trying to fit lady boys into my life with my wife around is tough :)

Thats the problem with free speech ! people just dont want to hear it !
they dont want to hear anything but main stream propaganda !
AKB ! Sorry but the chances are ! you will all be disappointed again this season and you know who you are .. and then i hope you feel guilty for your misguided conduct !

and i make this statement whilst we are on top of the ladder just so certain people
cant say ‘we were already out of contention by then ! ‘

our team lacks experience obviously , we cannot compete with chelsea or man U !
they have been the top 2 for 4 seasons in a row ! FOR A REASON !
both have won it 2 times during that time .. they cannot be separated on paper
but it seems number 5 currently will be chelsea’s year !

  390. ikon says:

    ethan…
being a young side and lacking experience almost means the same. But I really think we are very experienced in defense and fab, Ade, and eboue. The only problem is we rate our performances not by the results but by the way we play.

tell me even if we buy an experienced player or two, do we come close to the squad depth of chelsea?? Can ANYONE match its squad depth???

Completely different game chelsea are playing and they are the only ones playing. And as for manu, they have rushed ronaldo back in due to the shitty performance, imagine if he were out for a few matches last time, and we had been a bit lucky with the injuries….

you are simply on the wrong track.

  391. ikon says:

and ohh btw robinho is nothing more than a showman… like to see people cheering his name, soon enough with a few bad performances he will want to go and play in east bengal…. they would go crazy i can tell you that!!!!

  392. ethangunner says:

    ikon
tell me even if we buy an experienced player or two, do we come close to the squad depth of chelsea?? Can ANYONE match its squad depth???

Your right no , that might take years to emulate chevski’s strength and depth as much as i hate to say it .. even Man U have got a bench that oozes experience .. However this year with big phil Chelsea really look the team to beat dont they ?

Chelsea are strong … and i think im on the right track by making the AKB aware we are still very much in the woods and untested .. Sure live up the wins against bolton and blackburn , but everyone seems to forget fulham , and kyiv ! We will win only thru consistency, and showing a greater consistency than chelski ! We can have a very average preformance from our team on the day or they can turn it on and beat anyone ! we have consistency issues !
and that is why we will struggle until we get some more experience within the ranks .

which in my opinion is a near impossible task , well this season anyhow !
its good to see theo – denilson – almunia all start showing some good form .
and we will be in there somewhere around the finish ! but to say we will win the League is just pure fantasy

  393. Pedro says:

Ethan, I fully agree regarding the ‘I told you so’ stuff. Bolton are a different beast under Megson, as are Blackburn with Ince. How can people be gloating this early on in the season?

Wenger wont be vindicated until he produces a trophy. I love the fact we are top of the league and we’ve started well, but look at the teams we’ve beaten:

    Blackburn
    Twente
    Newcastle
    Bolton

Hardly world beaters are they? Hardly games you would have expected us to lose?

I am all for positivity, but acting like we have the league sewn up in September is outrageous.

Still, today is about enjoying our position at the top and getting Le Grove back to being a nice place to blog.

Cut yourself some slack Ethan; things are looking up. We are supposed to be pleased when we get it wrong about a player the reason being that it’s good for the team.

I have had running battles with Geoff over Walcott, nobody is more pleased than myself to have got it wrong. Even better, it is now looking like Denilson is going to make it this season, rather than in two or three season’s time; the result being that we are going to have a midfield that can compete and when you take into consideration that Diaby, Rosicky and Bischoff are going to be drip fed into the team throughout the season it is looking more and more likely that Wenger’s gamble could to pay off, which once again should be regarded as a good thing.

We are not capable of competing financially with Chelsea so we have had to adopt a system which may have caused a lot of concern at the beginning of the season but it’s now looking like it could reap rewards. Allow yourself to dream a bit. Maybe this could be our year.

  395. Pedro says:

London, it feels good that me and you were both right about Denilson ;-)

    New Post!

I have pondered over the situation and I’m going to do the only sensible thing which is to write my last Le Grove post. I’ve got to like many people on here but unfortunately it has got to a point where a moron who thinks he can call people me a cunt but is the epitomy of one, constantly spouts abuse at anyone who disagrees with him, is unable to argue his case and has a go at people because they disagree with his stupidity causes me to respond in kind.

He ends a debate in one liners, he somehow is above the rules, fails to conducts himself in a manner he would like to be treated in. Not only that but he’s an incompetent writer.

His hypocrisy knows no bounds, he happily starts swearing at me and then pretends butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth that he didn’t say anything rude “out of respect”.
The man is a hypocrite, and his denial of wanting to get rid of Arsene Wenger is just one of the lies he cannot admit to when confronted (The posts are in the archives, he calls for the sacking of Wenger but then denies it a few months later). If someone wanted to get rid of Wenger then fine but at least have the balls to say so.

I wish Le Grove every future success as I have absolutely no doubt it will be since there are some great characters on here.

I refuse to share my thinking space with someone has some sort of special case status attached to him, that if he lambasts someone you must tiptoe around him and not respond to him.

I’m certainly not of the opinion of censoring him, however I’d like to point out he is responsible for much of the behaviour he so detests, especially being rude to people, failing to construe a cohesive argument and disrespecting other opinions, anything he doesn’t like is AKB.

All the best, I’ll be cheering Arsenal all the way to the finishing line.

Finest, today is a new day…

I am online all week, so there will be no abuse of anyone. Last week wasn’t a case for making exceptions… it was purely down to business and the fact Geoff and myself were not online to police the site.

Don’t leave on account of anyone, just trust that everything will be sorted today.

    Cheers

    Pedro

  399. I kept out of it yesterday because like the joke I heard a couple of weeks ago…

Arguing on the Internet is like the special olympics, you might win, but you’re still retarded!

Don’t leave Finest, some of us really enjoy your posts. You shouldn’t allow yourself to be “chased off”.

FFS Wenger is pretty brilliant, although he should hae brought Theo on at 60 not 70… …Adebayor is a waste of space Bendtner is already better than him, so there

i agree ade is a waste of space , and for the intended plan B spends more time on the pitch than anyone ! but this is by far ades best game for arsenal , passed well for most of it .. only 2 off side’s the whole game ! was unselfish !

SOMEHOW AT THIS POINT GUNNER8′S WORDS BECAME MINE

ethangunner I fail to see how you can say Adebayor is a waste of space??? I just don’t understand some of you people.

    hounddog

if you cannot see it .. you are not very observant !
hes in there to score , not be offside 10 times a game !
he plays more minutes than anyone else in the team , and has onlt came out 1 time
and was gifted a hat trick …

with the chances he has Vs conversion ratio , it is exceptionally poor !
    so argue with that !!!

but this game was his best by far !
but as a team its been the most dominant game by far !

    THEN I GET THIS !

Ethangunner: I am just not going to waste my time discussing it with you. We won the game that is all I care about. If you don’t like the player than fine. Your opinion, definitly not mine!!

AT FIRST I WAS DUMB FOUNDED THE FIRST TIME I GIVE ADE A BREAK AND I GET A RETARD LIKE THIS BARK UP MY TREE …

THEN BIG RADDY STEPS IN , BASICALLY BLAMING ME !
AND FINEST STEPS UP AND CALLS ME A HYPOCRIT ! BECAUSE

GROUNDHOGDOG WONT PUT UP HIS CASE !!!!

  401. That was said with a big smile btw!

Ethan, I don’t want any bloggers leaving.

I can’t work out who started what, all I know is it stops this week.

We all support the same team and I want everyone to get along!
