Other than that it was a good night! Well all I can say is we didn’t lose and that has to be a bonus in the Ukraine. At least it was an away game and in fairness if we were going to lose, that would have been the one we expected.
We should have put the game out of reach by half time, we were very wasteful in front of goal and I am really getting fed up with Ade’s inability to understand the basic rule of offside, Ade you need to learn it and quickly.
The penalty award was a joke, Sagna was backed into, it was never a foul, that said, if you get into a tangle in the penalty area, you’re asking for trouble. Sagna, you need to learn from that, but I think you were the one that was fouled and you are a great right back so I for one forgive you.
I thought the substitution with Eboue was a strange one, because I didn’t see how that would win us the game but having said that Eboue reminded me of what a good full back he really is.
Song to me is an enigma, I really can’t see what Wenger or some of our own Grovers see in him, I watched him hard last night and if he wasn’t giving the ball away, he was clattering into someone, I really don’t rate him and although last night I offered to eat my hat if he played well, my hat is sitting here saliva free and quite safe.
I think the scuffed shot that Ade had was going past the keeper, but I’m glad that Gallas buried it, that of course set us up for a thrilling three minutes of injury time but the cheating Ukrainians and the ref who couldn’t count ensured that we were treated to a thrilling 29 seconds of heart pumping throw on. So thanks.
I’ll take a draw at this stage and I think the result will serve as a toe up the arse in Europe, much the same as the Fulham result was in the Premier league.
Cesc has got off to a slow start and playing alongside Song couldn’t have helped, let’s hope Rosicky, Diaby or Nasri hurry back soon, what is it with us and injuries? Are they that injured? And why is it always us and not the chavs , mancs or scousers that get mass injuries?
Have a nice day Grovers, we didn’t lose did we?

Song was an excellent shield to the defence last night. The thing that bugs me was the choice of Denilson on the left and this is not the usual Denilson bashing. Their defence was skewed to our right in attempt to contain Walcott which gave us a lot of space on the left. Denilson doesn’t have the pace to operate the wing; by contrast, Vela our pacy Mexican who spent the whole of the last season playing on the left wing was twiddling his thumbs on the bench. I know Wenger said he was a centre forward; Wenger also said he would definitely buy someone before the transfer window closed.
fair enough kelsey

This is just painful……
Gus J.
I think the stadium anouncer bothered everyone… …it seems to be the Ukrainian pastime… …I was in Yalta this summer and there was another bird on a tannoy at the beach and she didn’t stop yapping the whole day
Arsenal Kenya, it has nothing to do with Racism not liking Ade or Eboue… …Vieira was a hero to every gooner as was Kanu (born in Senegal and Nigerian) and we all love Kolo (Ivory Coast), even Djourou seems to be well liked (born in Ivory Coast).
I personally hate Eboue because he cheats and dives… …that is not the Arsenal way and until he changes I will always dislike his character, like I disliked Reyes for the same reason.
Adebayor is a different kettle of fish… …his distaste for the gooner faithful and the entire nation of Togo is because he is a filthy merc of a player, he is happy to whore himself one day and kiss the badge of his club and nation the next, urgh he is a filthy abomination of a human being, which is the same way I feel for Rooney, Ronaldo, and Terry they are all cretins.
For you to say it is racist has no bearing and you should take that slander back.
Marc C we said the same last year but AW will pick the same back 5 and start with Ade up front with RvP and if nasri is back stick him and Eboue with Denilson and Cesc.
Even though the 6 footers would help out a lot, AW has never been a tactitian… …he has always been able to get the best out of players, his tactics and choice have always been shocking
Song to me does not fit into the Arsenal team.He should be sold or loaned out.Seeing the likes of Song in our line up tells me nothing than we are short of quality.Well done to the team for coming back yesterday.
Well said Gunner8
helooooooo
I think that the reson Toure and Gallas don’t work is they hate each other… …the body language is shite.
When Gallas came in Kolo was third choice Cap’n behind Gilbo and TH, Gallas was given the captaincy, never having to proove his leadership!
Toure was the one marshalling the defence and Gallas wants to do the same, so instead of communicating they ignore each other IMO.
Check it out in the next game.
I think that Toure would be excellent for us with Cesc in CM, I know AW said he won’t but it wouldd work… …his cannon shots from outside the box would keep the defenders more honest to, he could be our Essien (a fit one anyway).
where is everyone?
cheers Pedro
right back to work, it sucks only getting on in your lunch break every else is off :O(
oh Pedro and Geoff, fuck free speach it is idiots like that who ruined Gunnerblog’s forum, it used to be brilliant until one guy with many characters would come on… …it killed the blog and in the end killed the site. Pity
Keep up the good work as this is by far the best site out there now.
PS funny it is always the “Fans” wearing Adebayor 25 shirts that leave the grove early… …hmmm fair/weather
l8ers
get rid of denilson he is a weak link in this team get rid of him now he is so poor it is unbelieveable how wenger can keep playing him denilson out adebayor is just a joke how does this guy keep needing 10 chances to score 1 goal van persie is so overrated it is shocking ………..the defence is weak and the strikers are poor al in all we should concentrate on the league fuck the champions league will never win it playing like a bunch of cunts ….big up william gallas for these important goals he keeps coming up with maybe wenger should put him upfront instead of adebayor maybe we will get a better balance then plus gallas can score these easy chances ade cant
Good day everyone. I have slowly understood the character of this site, and how you can debate here, so here’s my first post!
Ya, mildly disappointing result, but we have NEVER ever won at Kiev before. The invincibles lost here in 03-04! I know the Kiev team isn’t as dangerous as it was, but remember they too were fired up after a disastrous Champions League last year.
The thing that gets to me is the continued bashing of Ade. Yes, he might be mercenary, he might have made some god-awful decisions over the summer and tried to screw us, but he is here now. It was an error, a mistake. To keep holding the grudge, to keep calling him up for something he cannot change (barring getting hold of a time machine) seems hypocritical to me. I know I would want a second chance if I made a mistake, and Ade is only 24.
ArsenalKenya Says:
September 18, 2008 at 11:29 am
EVERY TIME ITS EBOUE THIS , ADEBAYOR THAT AND SONG …IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRICANS AND SOME FANS BEING RACIST believe us Africans can not deliver……
————————-
Hmmm so you’re assuming that everyone who is not an Eboue or Adebayor fan is not an african. Stereotyping people who are not your own kind about the opinions they have……then you call fans racist.
I wonder if you would stick up for them if they were white. But then again black and white mean NOTHING it is all bullshit created by politicians. Europe has many countries, they’re all pre-dominantly white, do white people support players from other European countries just because they’re European? No.
There are cultural differences between different white nations, it’s not the happy united front of the “white man” that you are so quick to condemn that you were probably taught about in school.
You would not have pulled the race card out straight away if you didn’t think it was only white people, cos to you white people are all the same, all racist, and you’re the good guy.
Gunner8, exactly what we’re trying to avoid.
Free speech isn’t the ability to abuse someone… You wouldn’t do it in real life, so why would you do it on a blog? Sorry I couldn’t blog with you, i’m stretched for a big meeting!
Chakravo, welcome to Le Grove, the only rules we have on debating is treat your fellow Grover like you’d treat your mate down the pub and if you have an opinion back it up with some substance! Oh, and always agree with me… ok, that’s not a rule… but it should be!
I have to agree with you over Ade… he get’s a lot of bashing considering his goal haul. I don’t think he will ever change; he’ll always be a player that polarizes… just like Andy Cole did at United.
As soon as there were rumours that Martins might sign for Arsenal tons of Africans came to Le Grove proclaiming what a fantastic player he is, the guy is mediocre compared to many top strikers.
would like to see Vela start against Bolton. in fact, i thought he should have been introduced earlier for RvP
Surely, the race issue is serious enuff to deserve a better platform of debate than an arsenal blog, no?
I didn’t see anyone complaining about Thierry Henry, I wonder if those so-called racists are anti-Henry. Oh but if you criticise Adebayor or Eboue you are…be careful now…
Waht is this skin colour stuff – and location of birth stuff – Jeepers, its is 2008… No wonder players like Sol (if its true) doesnt come out and admit he is gay, black and gay, some would have a real great time wouldnt they….
Personally, I think any suggestion of racism, and any such like towards any person in society stinks – there is no place in this world for it.
I am no expert on football, and never will be, I have no coaching badge and never will do, I have never been racist or sexist etc, and never will be – and trust me, when you are on the receiving end of shit bags out there who are, it hurts, and it stinks!!
And thank the Lord that the Authors of this blog will not tolerate it – good on you both.
I personally only comment on what I see, and how ‘I think’ players play – and my comments on Ade, Eboue, Nik, Denilson, Song and any of the others, are made because they are not playing to the level we know they can, and it is frustrating.
Sorry for that, its just how I feel
Well said on all comments their Finest.
finest – top notch, Ade and Eboue are just poor at the moment, and there is no getting away from it, I just hope they both ‘ get better soon’ – perhaps we should send them a card!
hey y’all…
a point in the eastern block for us has got to be regarded as a good point as i expect us to take at least 7 points at home… Our group isn’t that easy compared to others… Fenerbache away and porto in both games will pose a threat going forward..
Rico, eboue has made 2 very useful ontributions in the last 2 games… he’s a bit of a pantomime villiain amongst the faithful but he’s versatile, well liked within the squad and play with his heart on his sleeve… I like that in him, although his temprament does leave alot to be desired… That’s just part and parcel of him as a player… Like adebayor and offsides…
All in all we missed another creative player in the middle to win the game… As someone said last night, if you play song, denilson is nullified… Wilshire may have been an option, but it’s still probably too early and wenger’s set up with RVP on the left screamed caution…. So we got what we came for… a point, in a place we haven’t won or got a point in 5 years…
You’d have taken it before the game… Can’t win by 3 goals every week… Well, there’s bolton on sat
Some people are never happy, i suppose….
Hey Grovers.Nice to see you all again.been on a 3 weeks holiday and am back to biznesssss:))) unlike arsenal ,but its not so bad so far:))) we are doing well in PL and not too bad in CL, although as Goeff said -we should won it by half time. Hope to get out of this group because its not easy one.
not exactly a bad start is it arsenaldo? 1 point adrift, scoring goals for fun, conceded 2 in 7 competitive games, have late starters from the euros, a host of actual first 11 and first team squad injuries……
Not bad considering….
We got a point, but it should have been 3. We are lacking more experience in the midfield. A fit Diaby, Rosicky and Nasri would have give us more penetration and bite. Song, Denilson and Walcott up to the end of last season have only been squad players. They need to be brought on pretty fast if our 1st choice midifield are going to be injured all season.
Has anyone else noticed that Cesc doesnt seem the same person lately?
He dont smile or join in goal celebrations(very noticeable last night), I wonder
if Wenger has fucked him off coz of all the lying about the transfers?
think at this point 7 games in, you are reading too much into it stevo… He sometimes has to do a shift for the team, can’t all be one touch, interchange, walk it into the net football all the time…
When nasri, rosicky and eduardo are thrown into the equation, it’ll be much more easy on the eye and more of a joy to play in
Stevo, I think the weight of expectation upon him is getting him down.
The realisation that he wwwould have to carry the team without any other world class players has probably – to an extent – taken the joy out of playing.
No doubt being made captain would fix all that.
chary..surely being captain would just make the wight even greater … he didnt look like he was enjoying himself last night
Anyone notice how vague Rosicklist’s return date now is on Arsecom ? It says “Tomas is still recovering from his long-term hamstring injury.”
He might as well retire now so we can get him off our payroll so we can get in someone who will play more than 25% of our games per season
Arsenal Tom -I should have put in a sarcastic smilie as I was disagreeing about making Cesc captain here a while back.
sorry mate! i agree tho… he needs to get back to where he was last season, scoring, bossing games and enjoying himself, buying flamini back in jan should do the trick!
we’ll be in a healthy state come end of october i reckon… I expect rosicky, diaby, song, djourou, silvestre, vela, nikki b and nasri all to be playing or more so at a level where they can be assessed as players who can become 1st team features more regularly…
Although, rosicky is in hope more than expectation… We’ve got a decent 1st 10 game start to the season on paper…. We can soldier on untill then i reckon
good old bobby…
Guillem: Have you seen Arsenal play lately?
Pires : I watch their games all the time, never miss a match.
Guillem: Are they in transition?
Pires: I think they have moved up a level. I believe that this will be their year. The players are much stronger, they are a young side that has gained a lot of experience. I don’t know, I just have a very good feeling about Arsenal this year. I don’t know whether it will be the Premiership, or the Champions League, but I believe they will win at least one title this season.
Just to cheer up Rico and QoS:
Quote for the day:
“Whatever you give a woman, she’s going to multiply.
If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby.
If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home.
If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal.
If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart.
She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
ArsenalTom – we wouldn’t be able to pay his wages still or the transfer fee that’s if he’d come back to our weather!!!!!
Thought Inler was coming but AW couldn’t/wouldn’t recruit anybody!? Maybe January but he doesn’t like to buy then unless there’s bargains to be had……still he may think as he’s saved half a season’s wages…………………………………….
eboue’s “better performances”, theo’s emergence and a relativly good start to the season are the positives to take right now…
Yesterday and the fulham game went to show we maybe could do with an extra midfield body with real quality, but other than that you got to be happy thus far…
The defense has come in for an area of critisism and it has looked a little dodgy thus getting the feeling we’ll always need to score 2 goals to win games at a certainty instea dof 1…
BUT…
they’ve only conceded 2 goals.. so it’ll have to curb somewhat untill it becomes a serious issue.. We do have bodies in that area (which is our biggest assett in regards to quality cover) and means we can rotate (eboue, silvestre, djourou, Song, Gibbs)
Revelation – plus half the squad are getting an early rest to ensure they’re fit for the end of season LOL!
hello all.. well.. poor game in my opinion.. but wenger wanted a draw.. he setup the team that way.. so he has no right to keep complaining..
I would always like arse to win.. but well we can’t win all the games can we?
stevo .. yes.. fabregas does seem a bit disjointed.. don’t know whats wrong with him?!
maybe cause he wanted villa first.. then alonso.. and all he got was song and denilson…
eduardo will be back before rosicky.. wtf is wrong with that dude?
lol and adebayor is praising gallas .. if ade had done his job earlier.. gallas wouldn’t have needed to score!!!
Patrick7 – I think wenger will bring in a centre midfielder in january…. Whether it’ll be a defensive ball winner or someone of a creative ilk depends on denilson, diaby and song’s development until then…
I don’t think, at this point, we’re crying out for a ball winner… I think the triangles we play and interchange play are suffering due to nasri, cesc and rosicky not being able to play in the same team… When 2 are injured we have no one else pulling players all over the park except cesc… It would be nice to have another option i think…..
We’ll be wasting our time still thinking Diaby and Rosicky will recover and help us the rest of the season; it won’t happen. It’s likely that the injury to Rosicky might end his career. Arsene made a mistake buying him as I’m told his injury problems were same when in Germany. Diaby, a very good player yet can’t string together five games without injury. Arsene should be looking to replacing these two next season. They’re becoming a waste of money.
I think christmas will be a real test for our squad this year again…. If we can come out of it relativly unscatched and add a body in january to boost the players… I reckon, bobby pires, might just be right…
Choy – he in fact got Silvester and Bitchssslllllaaaappppppppp !!!!
Agree Howard, Rosicklist is a waste of money now.
rosicky and diaby i wouldn’t say we’re wastes of money…
They still have alot to offer, but i do admit it’s last chance saloon for them both.. Wenger was a bit ruthless with phil tbh… Come end of the season, can we only make a fair judgment of their contribution to the cause…
Let’s hope! We’ve an easy start like last year for them to develop but when the Mancs play us we’ll need to be firing let alone others………our season could be out the window by then looking pessimistically BUT if we get away with it we’ve saved a few bob and have developed the kids into MEN (p’raps).
if rosicky carries on the way he is then wenger will have to look at another winger… a nother nasri type player whos versatile. i think he’ll go for anohter of his previous targets in jan inler, alsonso or someone… if he thought we needed them then he probably still does
As I said, Fabregas is missing his old one-two buddy Hleb. I said Hleb’s absence would expose Fabregas and it appears it has. Fabs can get by when he’s at full tilt but he can’t ‘cruise’ anymore without Hleb. The other players are not on his wavelength.
if arsene does buy someone it’ll be someone who plays in the uefa cup or not in an european competition….
Alonso is a dead target untill next season if neccessary..
wenger buying in january? i don’t think so!
Paulinho
I think when you play song denilson and fabregas.. it won’t work.. fab needs space to work his magic…
choy… he brought ade and diaby in jan a couple of years ago
when nasri is back it will help bring fab back into the game
and rosickys agent said the career ending talk is nonsense
it hasn’t exposed anything paulinho….
Perhaps cesc ,who, according to wenger, like’s to play… He does perhaps miss our , 1-2 touch, interchange, walk it in the net football, but, at current we’re getting results…
It’ll be more of a joy when rosicky and nasri are in the same team, but walcott is improving that aspect and there’s robin and we’re getting results…
Hence why i said earlier we probably aren’t crying out for a ball winner as first thought.. At current i think another creative body in there that poses a threat going forward would be a better option…
Depends on development of ramsey, denilson, diaby, song & wilshire.. That will determine what type of player we’ll buy…
Wilshire or ramsey or both will play alot more reserve football at some point…
I think we’ll see rosicky in nov or dec…
great buys in jan AT!!!
fair point choy… but im clinging to hope that he’ll do somthing in jan as i think we’re gonna be desperate come dec/jan…
the way things are going its only a matter of time before someone does walcott some damage and then we’re really in trouble
then we have our pass master AT
But on a more serious note.. i really do hope what wenger is trying to do.. why the hell was vela not on the left wing yesterday?! he is surely better than rvp at that position!!
ReVELAtion
what are you talking about revela ?
Of course cesc is missing playing with hleb and flamini ! they have history, and a successful one at that!they had a great team understanding and will go down in arsenals history as the best midfield setup debatably of all time to date !! Ive just finished watching the game and cesc is way to high up the pitch .It all looks to static, He is playing a totally different game to last year .. He was marked and they backed off song allowing him to sit on the ball ! I stated this weeks ago ! and unless others step up to partner cesc correctly be prepared to see this happen more and more often ! ..
A Woeful midfield display .. Backed up with non clinical finishing in the striker department ..
ethangunner mate, it was a good partnership, but we didn’t win any trophies with them in midfield.
it was Postman Pat’s last day on the job after 35 years of carrying the post through all kinds of weather to the same neighbourhood.
When he arrived at the first house on his route, he was greeted by the whole family there, who all hugged and congratulated him and sent him on his way with a gift cheque for $500.
At the second house they presented him fine Cuban cigars in an 18-carat gold box.
The folks at the third house handed him a case of 30-year old Scotch whisky.
At the fourth house he was met at the door by a dumb blonde in her lingerie. She took him by the arm and led him up the stairs to the bedroom where she blew his mind with the most passionate love he had ever experienced.
When he had had enough they went downstairs, where the dumb blonde fixed him a giant breakfast: eggs, tomatoes, ham, sausage, blueberry waffles, and freshly-squeezed orange juice. When he was truly satisfied she poured him a cup of steaming coffee. As she was pouring, he noticed a $5 note sticking out from under the cup’s bottom edge. “All this was just too wonderful for words,” he said, “but what’s the five dollars for?”
“Well,” said the dumb blonde, “last night, I told my husband that today would be your last day, and that we should do something special for you. I asked him what to give you”.
He said, “F*** him. Give him five bucks.”
She smiled prettily. “The breakfast was my idea.”
just to lighten the mod guys
beautiful football is currently dead !
we are still a passing team but the flare is gone !
We need a Great DM or a reshuffle !
because whatever the case , we dont look like the same team !
and its happening with stark regularity for it to be just a few off nights !
Come on Guys – it wasnt that bad – we could have wrapped the game up by half time, the goal scorers need to score, thats it for me, once that happens, which i am sure will be soon, we will fly – think positive, we will have so much left in us for the run in come Feb – add to that a player or two in Jan – Sir Bobby, you are right, this season we will win something –
EPL for me
wenger keeps the same team.. lets see if he mixes it up for bolton…
you can’t really expect nick and vela to come on for 15-20 mins and expect them to rip apart the opposition defence!!
This has been taken from Online Gooner:
Blackburn, Kiev and Bolton always looked like a big ask. It will be interesting to see who plays on Saturday. Wenger will be tempted to rest a couple of players. It will provide another challenge for the depth of the squad if he does. Yet if he retains the same eleven that started against Dynamo, it will be a surefire indicator that the manager does not believe in the depth of his squad either.
This makes me laugh
Ade says – ‘ We should have beaten Kiev’
I say – If you had have scored Ade, we bloody would have!!
hey rico ethan kelsey.. how are all of you doing?
rico .. we had 3 attempts ..
RVp straight at the goalie from a difficult angle – NO CHANCE
ade off target (as usual ) and only 1 chance in the 1/2 ! well knowing he needs 10 chances to score 1 goal !
and cesc , missed a sitter fired into the ground taking the pace off the ball , really should have done better ..
kyiv had 4 shots at distance including 2 alumina scrambles ! it was a pretty even 1st half . And as they are 4th seed and we are 1st , it should have been a 3 point night !
this is the easiest away game we have ! porto away will be mega tough !
next for us is porto at home !
that will be tough enough if wenger fields a midfield like that again !
Im only basing these stats on what ive seen to date ! its not doom and gloom
it more a case of the cold hard light of day !
keep it real people !
wenger respected the opponents too much… he should have let them adjust to us.. and instead he went in with a new formation… which was shit to start with anyway!!
We’re getting results for now….but for how long?
Cesc isn’t enjoying his football as much as he did with Hleb. He’s having to compromise too much and adapt for others. This will lead to him and the team conking out even earlier than last year.
We’ve lost our automatic gear that we had to fall back on…..the team now needs to be constantly going for the throat or they’re lost! All this will take it out of us in the stretch.
god knows choy…no experience i guess. RVP’s ‘tackle’ on the bloke in the 1st half was somthing special
Paulinho I think it was all to do with the stupid formation.. how can you put rvp on the left wing!!!!!! ffs!!!
I thought the penalty dive was even more stupendous!!! sagna looked zapped.. he sure can give eboue a run for his money!
choy i think its a case of poor personnel .
We have jack who looked like a revelation pre season .
last night we were a bit short of creativity .. Song was on .. and im with geoff
that he looked pretty average .. Why not give jack a run before he loses all confidence
in his ability like wenger did to theo last season , theo has only just got his mojo back !
Wenger wants all these kids but then refuses to play them and puts in the average ADE
eboue song .. and lets johan – jack – and theo – vela rot on the sidelines !
by the time they get there chance , they will have senderos syndrome !
fuck up once and your out son , weighing in the back of your mind ..
but wenger persists with ade , eboue .. like one day they will finally turn into ronaldo
and torres respectively !
Dream land !
hello choy, bit of doom and gloom on here today.
with regards to taking our chances is nothing new.how often do we have 70%+ possession without scoring.teams have got wise to the way we play yet when we took the route one approach at Everton it paid dividends.
Ethan I am a realist but you are a tad too pesimistic at the moment.Let’s see what happens in the next 6 games.I think silvestre will play on saturday if fit but not too many other changes.
exactly ethan.. why not put vela on the left wing instead of rvp… the boy was the best damn player of osasuna last season and he played 99% of matches on the left wing..
he keeps glorifying his youngsters and refuses to use them at all..
I won’t be surprised if ade and rvp start again against bolton…
kelsey it is doom.. because cesc might leave us and go if we end up with nothing..
anyways it is a long season.. and i remain positive.. song and denilson should be playing together if we are defending a lead!!
choy
wenger has played that 4-5-1 against stern opponents last season .. like
AC milan we played 4-5-1 real madrid and chevski in previous outings ..
its a negative ploy by wenger .. and only amplified by ade being so crap alone upfront !
If you are going to play a single striker ! he needs to be a drogba or an anelka
torres or villa ! .. Not ade ! he is living in dream land if you think ade will score as a lone striker ..
ethan i agree with you about song and i always say how many of our team would get into man u or chelsea’s team ? We are mere fans,so we have to live with what we have got.but how do silvestre and bischoff pass a medical when both are unfit when we sign them.Cover for rosicky should have been bought a year ago and the expectancy on others like theo, bedtner is too much at their age, though i have my own thoughts on bedtner.
ethan on that note.. thank fuck gallas was there for the goal.. ade had surely fucked that cross from theo
kelsey.. when your whole system is based on the youth.. you do not have any other choice..
choy
he keeps glorifying his youngsters and refuses to use them at all..
precisely ,
and by the time they get there BIG break they are so nervous ,
they are bound by Murphy’s law to fuck up big style and blow there chances at 1st team football for the future !..
and wind up being like all the other bentleys and pennants etc etc etc .. who just got sold as cannon fodder , or frustrated by lack of opportunities !.
yet week in week out we have to be frustrated by ade , and eboue .. song .. and others who cant toe the line !
yeah choy ,
for all the shit gallas gets he is pretty reliable at getting on the score sheet at vital times (shame ade cant take a leave out of his book !) !
not bad for a CD , but like i tried to tell ya yesterday , eboue just cant seem to get on the scorers sheet .. and when he does for 5-10 goals a season i think you’ll find opinions change about him .. me personally , i think he has more skill than ade ! but needs to work on getting an end product , and not a end product that involves simulation for a penalty ..
kelsey
we signed silvestre and bischoff due to financial restraints !
If we really had the money why would we buy 2 players that will spend at least 10% of the lives on the sick beds of arsenals medical facilities , all the time paying there wages and
more importantly taking a punt on there quality !? silvestre only played a handful of games last season and bitchslap has not seen football for 2 years !
hardly choice buys ! more like decisions that ooze WE AREN’T SPENDING MONEY !
we must be the only team that buys crocked players!!!!
ethangunner
if it’s down to such financial restraints that we are only signing cast off or those on a free,it’s remarkable how well we have done last year and not a bad start this year.i don’t believe about the financial restraints,I believe wenger acts as if it was his own money and pulls out of a deal for the sake of losing a player for the sake of a couple of million.
If things are that bad,we will finish mid table and wenger will be praised for being frugal. Why are worse off than last year, money wise.
kelsey
i will never be optamistic !
i know the way life works .. I dont do the lotto every week in hope that i MIGHT get rich
id rather just work towards it … Ill be positive when i see positivity !
at the moment , if your truthful with yourself we look worse than last year , we lack depth
- strength and experience .. those are the facts ..
at teams like chelsea have only added players like bosingwa – deco ..
man U berbtov .. Sorry you need to look past Our team to see the bigger picture ..
like i said .. November will test us we get all 6 points from nov 8 and nov 30th respectively then you’ll see a positive Ethan gunner !
I think we have more crocked buys than West Ham!
3 in moderation, sorry for the wait guys!
choy
i wonder what fitness test bitchslap did to get a red and white shirt ?!
maybe it was like can you drive your car thru macdonalds and get a big mac ?…
ok good your hired !
Get rid of the crocks – Rosicky, Diaby
Then get rid of the fringe squad element – Song, Eboue, Denilson, Bischoff,
Draw a big question mark under Gallas and Almunia.
Then spend some money.
Would we then be more optimistic ?
Choy,
Still need Eduardo to come back
lol… and we have reebok stadium up next… not a very happy hunting ground!!
we should get 3 points thou .. surely ?
after last year i hold no fear of bolton, they are terrible
the same fixture last year was a bit of heart in the mouth… !! diaby getting sent off.. 2-0 at half time.. come back of the season!!
a bit too much excitement for my liking!
ok… how about another routine 4-0 away win then?? song and fab in the middle, any news on nasri?
sure but on paper these are the teams that should be money in the bank !
I think no problems 3 points .. in the bag !!!
most people want our team to do well !
but i would rather win everything on the board !
its frustrating to see wenger make this mistake year in year out ..
by not getting adequate replacements for our team ..
A wise man learns by the mistakes of others, a fool by his own.
If we are to believe all we hear and read, it is now quiet evident that Wenger did intend/try to sign certain players so the critisism of him being a tight wad could well be unjustified! IMO he had certain players in his mind that he wanted and for whatever reason the moves did not materialize. Wenger does not buy just anyone so when these deals fell through that was it. He has faith in what he has at the moment but obviously not enough that he did not feel the need to strengthen. As it is now we simply have to go with what we have and hope that injuries/suspensions do not take their toll. Of course I think we should have strengthened but with that said I truly do not believe that we are as understrength as some make out. I believe we can hold our own with anyone with what we currently have. We still have Silvestre, Rosicky, Diaby, Eduardo and of course Bischoff to return to the squad. I for one am very positive and see no reason why we should not have a successful run into the end of December. Wenger will then for sure know where we stand and what needs to be done based on how we perform between now and then. I am not exactly an AKB but I do trust the man and I am confident that no one can do a better job then him at AFC. My opinion of course but one I firmly believe.
Song did not look too convincing. I would have rather seen JD there but I think it war more Almunia’s fault then the defense, because our defense is never comfertable in games we SHOULD win. Almunia just looked unaware all game. He really hasn’t had to do much in the league this year so really 1 conceded goal flatters him. I wish Vela had more time though
Got that right, then it’s his job to tell us he tried to sign Alonso and YaYa.
Geoff, I think it is pretty obvious to one and all that he was trying to sign one or more players to include Alonso, Inler, M’Bia, Ya Ya Toure, to name but a few. Perhaps he should have made a public statement and said this to the fans! I don’t know?
i reckon these attempts at signing players is just penny pinching bullshit. everybody knows Wenger is a tight as a ducks arse and the board are too. we need an arab benefactor, somebody with real fucking money who will get the club into a real footing without gambling on all these young players
HOUNDDOG ,
IMO he had certain players in his mind that he wanted and for whatever reason the moves did not materialize.
If you believe that then you are aware wenger is reckless to a certain degree .
because if he believes certain areas could be stronger to compete yet failed to
strengthen them , he does us, the fans a disservice .. Its obvious to the naked eye this team is currently weaker on paper than last season , and we all know what happened last season .. and the one before that .. it was seasons to be out of the top 2 !
a bold man would predict currently that this year will be any different !
thats all im saying ..
ethangunner. I fail to see how you can classify that as Wenger being reckless??? He has given us CL football back to back for 12 years, kept us in the top four (mainly top two) for that entire period and won PL titles anf FA cups in this time frame so how is he doing a disservice to the fans?? Prior to the Wenger reign non of the forementioned was ever expected but today it is!! So again how is he doing the fans a disservice? I think you me and all have now been spoilt and simply expect the success every year!!! Of course I respect how you feel on this subject but I look at it in a totally different light than you do. Cheers.
nasri diaby silvestre still out!!!!
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/injured-french-trio-won-t-return-for-bolton
On that note Choy, i think Vela will be making his first start this weekend
i think he’ll start on tuesday.. could get some minutes on saturday though!!
fantasy team is fucked!!!
hounddog how have we been spoilt being a man u fan is being spoilt we are far from spoilt……..we have not won the prem back 2 back we have not one the champions league yet that is being spoilt
Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky still appears short of a return to action according to media reports.
The 28-year-old winger has been sidelined since January with a thigh injury, and it doesn’t appear as if he sees himself playing again any time soon.
“My return is still going to take some time,” Rosicky told the CTK news agency.
“Each treatment runs the risk of bringing complications.”
The news will surely be a massive blow to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who had hoped to have the player back in action this month.
[Guardian-Series]
what the fuck does that mean “each treatment runs the risk of bringing complications”
I am afraid he is crocked, kaput, finished. No surprise to me
and nasri who had a slight knock is still out till hull which means next week he will be out for another week.
Our injuries just get worse and worse, then the small squad play more and more until they are knackered but arsene knows, sorry hounddog my mate open your eyes we are in dire straits.
I had prefered Song to Denilson for a long time but after reading so many comments on Songs below par performance. Something fucked up my internet so i didnt see most of the match. How did either of them play?
Woops! Just stoped in the middle of a sentence there. You know what i meant tho. Right?
denilson is weak and should be no where near that first team
stu… it was song’s first start this season.. you can’t really judge a player on one start!!
looks like wengers done it again signing nothing but injury prone players silvest is a joke of a signing and nasri has caught the injury bug now
gallas and ade should swap positions gallas can show ade how its done
lol BBK.. like i said earlier.. thank fuck gallas was covering ade’s back!!!
Well now we know why Gallas wanted no.10. Second top scorer and would be top if Ade didnt sneak a hattrick.
leave alex alone. he had a stormer. he will be an arsenal legend. i was looking at the fucking mirror and they only gave him a 4. wankers. gave theo an 8?
Evening Grovers!
What’s going down? Oh, Bolton away next! How exciting!
I fully expect a Champions league hangover performance… and a 0-1 victory!
I think Kiev will prove our toughest opposition, and and 1-1 draw is enough. Fener and Porto will come to play, so I am confident we’ll take them.
At the end of the day, there were apparently some bad performances in there last night… but we only drew because we were poor infront of goal.
That is encouraging… at least we’re making chances!
im being serious ade can be the dominant c.h who heads the ball away and gallas can be our new number 10 who scores goals………
Iamonsong, I didn’t see the game… but I am pretty sure you are one of the only people who thought Song had a stormer.
I saw the game. To say that Song had a stormer would be an over-exaggeration. He has a good physical presence, gave the ball away on a couple of occasions, but sat back to do his defensive job. It was a good performance, for the role given, but it’s hard to tell if he will become somebody who is indispensable.
I had a frustrating evening: first looking at an Iraq stream which was jumping all over the place before collapsing, then looking for another in vain, listening to AFC for most of the match then picked up snippets on some other mini-viewings.
Song looked OK on the bit I saw as David said but AW thinks he’ll be a great player for AFC so I’ll hope with that.
Re. the discussion on race issues I haven’t seen any racial stuff on this site. I’m a fan of Ade if he sharpens up again, in fact I’m a fan of anyone who puts the ball in the net for us. Eboue has been awful but may be finding his feet and AW his limitations. I personally prefer WG (with Djourou) to Toure who would be better at DMF but feel we’ve probably got enough Africans at the moment as when the ANC is on we don’t want to lose 25% of the squad for 6 weeks! Otherwise, bring them in. They’re normally quicker, are ready to learn, are cheap compared to the Euro equivalents and judging by the crunching tackles unprotected by the refs out there won’t fold like most of our lot!
Apparently cesc must have been readind le grove yesterday,he had the slick down hair and eyeliner.whatever next
oh god, Kelsey, I hope he’s not going the way of Beckham. Please Cesc – stay normal !
where is everyone?
anyways am off… nite all!!
Go Europe go!
P7 – just d-load the game .. its the best way .. then you can put it on a cd and watch it on the goggle box !
the link is quick enough i had the game within 6 hours !
http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/50684986/kiev+v+arsenal?tab=summary
pedro p7 heres the link no need to miss the game .. put to temp cd and destroy it after watching .. in fact im sure after watching it you’ll want to delete it
i did
pedro
i don’t think kyiv will be the toughest match ! i agree they were the toughest group 4 draw to get , and we got them … but porto will be tough at home and so will fener !
problem arises if either of them 2 whip kyiv @ home like we failed to do ! it goes on goal difference this season ! or so i heard !
so winning V’s the minnow group 4 team home and away is a MUST for going thru !
fuck we got rolled by fulham a few weeks ago , it ludicrous to think porto will be a cake walk !
keep it real !
when you have to rely on gallas to score your goals .. due non clinical finishing , i wouldn’t say ‘we like it when they come at us ! ‘
id prefer them keeping 10 men behind the ball teams represent far less of a threat playing like that .. and jag a goal on the break or set play ..
it seems the only way we score now !
NO MORE BORING STUFF ON RACES AND RACE CARD….I AGREE WITH LE GROVE’S PHILOSOPHY… ….I SUPPORT ARSENAL
That there my friends is the most boring card of all time… the race card.
Yesterday it was played a few times because there was some criticism of Song, Ade and Eboue.
No one on Le Grove gives two hoots about the colour, creed, or sex of a player (maybe I’d voice some concerns over the sex…). It’s a blog that caters to Gooners all over the world… the only colour we’re interested in is the red and white of Arsenal.
If a player isn’t up to the percieved high standards of Arsenal football club, then on this site, they can expect some criticism.
We like to call it banter. If it didn’t happen, we’d have nothing to talk about… if you like blowing smoke up players backsides, there are plenty of sites that cater to that sort of thing.
After all, ability is in the eye of the beholder…
So Le Chump of the Week goes to anyone who needs to play the race card to gain an advantage in a debate
Arsenalkenya, well said and out of interest Arsenal has the most support of any other london club of non white supporters.
Well sais Kenya!
race has nothing to do with football !!!
, you have Mexicans in the team , black french – white french – African – British – dutch .. some are legends like our Spanish central midfielder
or our Brazilian – Croatian striker … Or legends like sagna who is very very black by the way
all shall be judged on playing ability!!! not race !!!!..
!
our best strikers of all time where not white ! TH14 – Wrighty 7
but then you have 2nd rate players like ade – song- eboue who will ruin our great club and should be sold off and replaced with quality !!!!
if senderos can go ! the above names should be on their bikes too !
players like theo – jack – nasri – cesc have quality .. if you cannot join names like that
you should be playing for bolton !
anyway who is going on about racism ??
or was this just a token statement ?
Let’s put the race issue to bed as it is a non starter at Arsenal football club!!! Any fan/Supporter that even wants to attempt to use that as an excuse for something is a very sad individual.
“BRING ON BOLTON”
yes i think you can safely say if you follow AFC you definitely are NOT a racist !
wenger has assembled a mixed bag there !
and to hi- lite racism slurs kenya i think your just using the racism card yourself,
none of us here wear a klu klux clan hoods , and everyone on the internet is anonymous.
i dont call myself ‘ETHAN FROM BRITANNIA’
NEW POST!
Wow what’s the deal with the Song slagging?
He had a decent game? Natural DM ability, gets into good positions, safe play, good passer of the ball, doesn’t give hte ball away cheaply. Provided good protection for the defence. ETC
Adebayor had a nightmare wasted opportunity in the 1st half. And the offside business is a joke.
Toure and Gallas had fairly decent games too i thought. Toure springing forward was nice to see. Thought Clichy’s balls were a bit dodge. Denilson played well. Good link up play.
Vela wasn’t on for enough time!
