He’ll be a star! / Sign him up Arsene, I wouldn’t say no…

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So it’s official, Mexican wizzkid Carlos Vela says new boss Arsene Wenger will make him a superstar, he loves the way Arsenal play and wants to adapt quickly, he also says he’ll wait his chance and will play any role he’s asked to, good on you Carlos, that’s the attitude.

Nothing much is happening that didn’t happen yesterday save a few rumours about Steven Appiiah coming to us on a free, I have no idea whether there is a hint of truth in it but we were looking at him a few years back and like Silvestre would add a bit of experience to this young side, so to coin a phrase, I wouldn’t kick him out of bed.

Wenger says he didn’t try hard to sign anyone and that’s the first thing he has said since last May that I actually believe! Any how, there’s no more speculating until Christmas and most of that will be about who Man City decide to buy, maybe they’ll buy Arsenal so they can use our players in their team.

I do think that with their money people like Usmanov will get fed up and find something else to play with, his money wouldn’t buy the half time oranges these days, people like him won’t blow their money in a market where their money will be laughed at by people with real money, plus they are Arabs and the Russians are the other lot and they won’t want to be laughed at if you get my drift.

I think it’s funny that we have seen firstly the Italians have all the rich owners, then the Spanish and now it’s us and they don’t like it do they, Platini didn’t give a rats arse when he was selling his rear end to Juventus, but now all the superstars are leaving the Milans and Madrids for the Chavs and the boys from City, UEFA hate it, I think it’s funny.

Arsenal will get away with not spending this time, but either the kids have to step up, or we’ll get left behind, I think they’ll step up personally, but they may need some help come Christmas, we have 4 months to find out though, so roll on the Blackburn game, that really is a test, still at least it’s not November and it’s still relatively warm!

So from hurricane about to hit Florida, I bid you adew, until later Grovers!

FFs BBK do you make a concerted effort to miss the point?

It’s not about how shit or great the players we have are, it’s about replacing them with somebody better. We didn’t do that so we’ll have to wait until January.

    I give up. Goodnight all.

  2. raif

    BOY BETTER KNOW

is a Blog Killer PEDRO. i have never seen him say any thing positive.

Come on BBK. its time to get behind our Lads the time for Moaning and being Cynical is over.

Bring on Black burn i say

    COME ON ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Steve

So we should buy Anti Niemi as back up for Almunia perhaps. Just in case Big Al gets injured we have an injured goalkeeper in the treatment room to share stories with.

  4. BOY BETTER KNOW

how can you get behind a team that you know will not compete, this season we will be out of the race buy november….

  5. Pedro

BBK, honestly… have you ever said anything positive about Arsenal?

You are the one line doom merchant.

What do you want people to say to you?

    Agreed… lets stop watching football…?

We’ve had our moan about the player / team / Manager… now it is time to get on with it and support the club.

  6. Steve

I guess you have been a supporter since 1998 then BBk?

How do you think the club survived before then?

That last comment sums you up.

  7. Sion De Freitas

BBK, we could buy and buy and buy all we would like, that still doesn’t guarantee us anything.

We could spend 25 million on David Villa, what would you say if he came, and played like absolute shite???

Exactly. While we all agree that the squad could/should have been strengthened, Buying isn’t always the be-all and end-all, it would have helped, but the window has gone, now we must support the team and help it succeed, not chastise the team, and break the team’s spirit.

  8. Pedro

‘how can you get behind a team that you know will not compete, this season we will be out of the race buy november….’

Well if that’s your attitude, you best go and find a club that will be in the race…

  9. Sion De Freitas

‘how can you get behind a team that you know will not compete, this season we will be out of the race buy november….’

How can you call yourself a fan of this club, and make a statement like that??

  10. BOY BETTER KNOW

lol steve we will dominate football when man u cfc liverpool and city go into melt down untill then we will be 3rd and 4th rate but at this rate top 10 and a cup run would be nice

  11. raif

‘how can you get behind a team that you know will not compete, this season we will be out of the race buy november….’

with all do respect BBK. but with a comment u just made stinks of Secret Spurs fan. u talk rubbish to be honest with you mate. and makes me think ur a child as to why i can understand why all u think about is Buying players all the time. not one positive word comes from ur comments. at witch frankly Bore me and just skip reading them most of the time as you bring to the table apart from Half Glass Empty Speeches,

get behind the team a little bit or just go and support the Spuds or the Manc Scum

  12. SFO Gooner

    Pedro,

Players usually have the final say in transfer matters. robinho chose city because they offered more money. The shirt fiasco just made negotiations difficult.

Pele amd others have criticized robinho for going to city ..

  13. Sion De Freitas

Both are equal in brilliance, as both has won trophies before. Fergie was also lucky enough to inherit one of the best youth teams in English football of its time, including Scholes, Giggs, Beckham etc.

Wenger had to build Arsenal’s academy from the ground-up, and we are only now and in the next few years going to reap the benifits of something he implemented. Wilshere is just the first in a long line of the young pupils, having been only 9 when he joined.

Fergie also bought a large number of players, when Arsenal perhaps didn’t have half the financial muscle they have now.

You cannot really say which is better, because both had to withstand circumstances anyway.

  14. Sion De Freitas

Yes I happened to catch some of it, We lost to a Chelsea side that had a couple of experienced players in it, whereas we had none, and we probably should have beat them. We know our quality and potential, realizing it is just one of many obstacles in front of our team.

  15. Pedro

BBK, I think you need a little T.O. … you’re upsetting the Grovers. This is a happy place to blog, and you’re doing your best to make it a suicidal place to blog.

Come back when you’re in a better mood.

  16. dennisdamenace

BBK – You can quite rightly, disagree with the way things are done/run etc, but you support your team through thick and thin, that is what being a supporter is all about fella.

  17. kelsey

Pedro, did you read my e mail

Who is the grey haired cunt I see people refering to

First economics, then history, then chocolate and then The Doom Monger. :)

  18. Bud

What an obviously Teenage Nerd that BBK is. Still when you have no friends it is hard to work on your social skills……..

Shame you have only just taken him out now as I am ogoing home now, but whilst that plank was on, I was most certainly off………. can’t be doing with angsty virgins !!!

Anyway, have a pleasant night Grovers – Until the Morrow !!!!!!!

  19. rico01

Funny isn’t it – I have been reading Le Grove all day, but felt I had nothing much to say other than what I had already said, and I didnt want to write s***e – I have been smiling at the ‘history’, ‘money chat’ etc etc – so I didnt bother to bore you all, or write anything contraversial – so I stayed away

    BBK – please take note!!!!!!!!

  20. rico01

How Bloody Sexist, I wouldnt bet against Karen Brady – and I hope she is the one, not only is she damn good at her job – she will keep you boys, and my better half smiling……

  21. finestcuts

Hey Rico, why do you want your other half eyeing up Karen Brady? So you can have an excuse for enjoying the lads swapping shirts at full time?

I say bring in anyone who can do a good job, whoever they choose will be working in Arsenal’s best interests and they’ve been headhunting since April, so I’m sure it will be a top boy/girl.

  22. Big Raddy

Just returned from Mamma Mia – only went because Rico recommended it. The girlfriend was very impressed with Colin Firth, which surprised me seeing as I am more the Pierce Brosnan type (as if…. !).

Thanks Rico – it was fun

  23. trindle

Went to see Get Smart last night (the missus wanted Mamma Mia, but there is a limit). I had to pay to make up for the furniture damaged in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

  24. Big Raddy

Trindle. That is one of the penalties of not being married. I have to watch the occasional chic-flick.

But I have learned from Sir Paul. It is better to rent than to buy !! :-)

  25. Mandanda

chamone mutha grovers!! as Drogbass eloquently said I’m BAK I’M BAK I’M BAK but looks like i havn’t missed much tho…judging from the posts we’re not enjoying this 2week break

well, if u can’t handle any longer make ur way down to wimbledon, where you’d find two men in black hats right next to the undergroundstation. ask them for directions to ‘the castle’…

  26. Big Raddy

Finest. Thanks for the economics lesson this morning. It was very interesting, though the prediction of a falling £, leaves me concerned for my future……. I may have to get a job

  27. finestcuts

Big Raddy, if you’re concerned about currency fluctuation invest in Gold.
I thought you were a loaded ex-tycoon….have you moved back to London, I thought you were in Denmark? Or do you fly there and back on a regular basis?

  28. Big Raddy

Were you swearing at me Finest? I hope not. I can cut up rough if I have to.

This lilly livered liberal packs a punch !

  29. Mandanda

…only after a few pints did one of these men confess to a friend that he only felt what shoes were like after he lost his wife to the local tap dancer…one wonders how he survived the winters – oh these men are very loyal, make dogs look like whores!

  30. finestcuts

No it was entirely clean with no swearing, and contained no links it was auto censored.

    Currency.
    Gold.
    Fluctuation.

  31. kingsley

does anyone think that saturdays game at blackburn could shape our season? there will be a lot of pressure on wenger and the team if we lose. i Am worried about the condition of the players after the internationals. do you think silvestre will start?

  32. trindle

Big Raddy, I have been married twice … so I know where you’re coming from. I am made to watch these chich flicks on DVD. Well, she watches, I read Le Grove.

Anyway, my total despondency has given way to total frustration … or International Break as it is also known. I want to spend my time thinking about our starting XI for Ewood … but don’t want to risk a voodoo fine on the injury front!

  33. finestcuts

Nope none of those words, basically I said that gold will hold it’s value.
I also thought you were an ex-tycoon, and asked if you’ve moved back to London or are still in Denmark….or if you fly back and forth on a regular basis.

  34. Mandanda

dare i say predicting our team against blackburn would be futile exercise considering our injury record. i propose sm geek adapts UEFA’s co-efficient to how players health…

  35. trindle

Guess it will be “by mutual consent” … meaning half of what he’d have got if sacked, but a damn site more that the zero he’d pocket walking out!?

  36. kelsey

kingsley,hi there not only blackburn, then kiev and then bolton.I don’t want this crap from wenger that international beaks are blah, blah, blah, and for sure another couple of players will be injured.a defining week indeed.

  37. finestcuts

If I spell it correctly it auto censors you….basically I said I thought you were an ex-tycoooooooooooon and asked if you live in London now because you last said you were a resident of Denmark….do you fly back and forth to London?

I also said that Gold should hold it’s value, regardless of currency fluctuation, it’s a safe bet.

  38. finestcuts

Pedro and Geoff, sorry for trying to keep making posts, I was trying to figure out which word was causing me to be censored.

  39. finestcuts

I’m glad there isn’t the constant merry-go-round at Arsenal. That’s what happens when you’re manager of a club like West Ham or Newcastle, the board buy and sell your team members, you’re just the face of the club. When Curbishley had a free reign he bought a load of junk really though didn’t he, he could have spent that money far better than he did.
He isn’t really a Premier League manager, he brought Charlton up from the old 4th division, or League 2 in today’s terminology. He’d be good for a Championship or League 1 team.

  40. kingsley

if we get thru those 3 away games with 2 wins and a draw i think we will be ok. imagine if we get turned over in all 3! After the lack of signings could wenger survive that? or iam being stupid?

  41. trindle

Well, he bought Newcastle Kelsey – point proved. I was mightily pissed off when I saw him on MOTD … especially as I got indigestion rushing my beer to get back fr the 2nd half. You’re right he is a beer swilling classless cunt.

  42. Big Raddy

    Sorry Finest. Dinner was calling.

I live in Copenhagen, but all my finances are held in £’s. I tend to travel in Europe, and use plenty of euro’s , so I keep getting shafted by the falling £. When I arrived in Denmark, 2 years ago, I got 11 kroner to the £. Now I get 9.4ish !!

Tycooooon ? Hardly. Just a small-time businessman. But I earned enough to take a few years sabbatical, and I would like to take a few more !

My only vice (apart from the obvious) is The Arsenal. And I still retain my season-ticket, going as often as possible. Sadly, I only got to 6 games last season, and maybe less this – unless the cost of flights goes down again, which is highly unlikely.

  43. Big Raddy

Not sure I agree Kingsley. Blackburn are a strange team, and they were unlucky against WHU. They are far better at home. I would take a draw now, but on the day, I will only accept the 3 points.

I think that if we get he same number of points this season as last, we will win the league. The mid-table teams are stronger this year.

  44. Col. O'Toure

    Good points, Kingsley,

Those particular stretches of matches are going to prove difficult, especially if we catch a few more crocks/niggling injuries. Which is why I back signing Appiah… it’s a free, he’s relatively young, has experience at the highest level. And if he’s hurt… well we’re no worse off, are we? Blackburn, then Kiev, then Bolton? Doesn’t matter the quality of those clubs, the travel alone will take its toll. Hopefully we’ll be even slightly reinforced by then, but I’m not holding my breath…

  45. kingsley

i can see what u mean raddy. i too think its a hard game and it could go either way. we simply cant lose though, the belief will be drained out of us if that happens….and the pressure will mount.

  46. kelsey

Big Raddy, excuse me for butting in,and it’s up to you to reveal personal details, but if you were a danish resident which i believe you are not, they get a fixed rate to the euro, which I believe is unique. The reason I know that is my dentist over here is danish and retained his citizenship.

  47. finestcuts

That’s good news for Danes eh Kelsey. As far as I know big Raddy is English and resides in Denmark…is this fixed rate deal only available to Danish citizens or anyone that registers as living there?

  48. kelsey

finest,hi there.Don’t know the answer but here in spain the peseta was a fixed rate before the euro.i would imagine it would be for born and bred Danes, otherwise everyone would be at it.

terry we were talking this morning about the weak £ sterling against the euro and its effect.

  49. finestcuts

I think it will be relatively quiet as far as Arsenal is concerned for the next few days Terry, there are still a few keeping their fingers crossed hoping that Stephen Appiah will arrive, the new CEO will be announced shortly.

I’m looking forward to the Blackburn game, I’ll go for 3-2 to us.

  50. Mandanda

Well just heard Cliff has come out of the closet…the man has confirmed he’s gay at the age of 145…i am struggling to console my nan and my poor cat, never seem looking so miserable

  51. finestcuts

They are indeed Terry, it’s always paranoia when RVP’s out of town but I have good vibes, I don’t think Van Basten will risk him if he’s not 100% safe to play, they have Huntelaar, Van horseface so they have options. You never know England might be Croatia.

  52. kelsey

terry where have you been,RVP is injured he shouldn’t have gone, never mind coming back fit and so is Bedtner who we were told yesterday got a sprained ankle with possible ligament damage to be assessed in 24 hours, but I haven’t heard anything, anyone enlighten me.

  53. finestcuts

    Might beat…pardon me….

It was always obvious……he;’s always had the demeanour of a homosexual.

    Enough about Cliff Richard…

  54. kelsey

terry I read somewhere that RVP has only played 23 games in the last 2.5 years .

mandanda choice of words” holed up ” tut tut :)

  55. rico01

    Evening Boys :)

finest – I can be on a diet but still look at the menu, he can only ever LOOK at Ms Brady, anything else, and he knows his nutts are off!! ;)

Raddy – so glad you and yours enjoyed Mamma Mia – you have to take it for what it is, Julie Walters is just so funny and Colin Firth……I am with your girlfriend, he is just yummie :)

  56. terry

whats the story with Eboue this season ! He has really calmed down and is playing well .Never tought I would be saying that .Hope he can keep it up

  57. Mandanda

Yeah Appiah signed a 10 year deal today – first five years is to be spend on the treatment table serving as a good real life specimen to potential physios
and the next five years would be spent teaching our youngsters how to get a contract when being crock or average or both

  58. terry

Mandanda when you said Eboue could be the Flamini this season did you mean he will have one good season and then fuck off!

  59. Mandanda

good point terry…or maybe he loves his dance partners would stay, thus. (see youtube video of eboue, adebayor and toure doing a dance in the car park)

  60. choy

evening all.. work seems to be keeping me away from legrove today :(

eboue to be the revelation.. why not.. and i say denilson too..!!! we have to believe grovers.. we have to ..

  61. choy

    whats up terry..

yes we have to… we are the fans.. we need to support the lads.. it is not their fault that they are chosen.. we need to back them all the fucking way..

    bring on blackburn!!!!!!

  62. Grays

We are a couple of defeats away from a big crisis at the club. There is no harmony behind the scenes. Arsene is struggling big time who helps him? Pat rice? dont make me laugh. Arsene needs a replacement for dein quickly.!!!!!!!!

Arsene is suffering from mental stress and has been close to exhaustion.

  63. Pedro

Grays, every club in the top four is a couple of defeats away from a crisis!

    Get a grip man!

Pat Rice is a great assistant… Stop fretting about things that have yet to happen…

  64. Pedro

Cliff Richard is gay… jeez… next thing you’ll be telling me Elton and George Michael are a couple of raging poofters!

Finest, I can’t find this comment that went into moderation? It certainly wasn’t a manual thing!

Have a great positive evening all!

  65. ethangunner

    Pedro! Pedro! Pedro!

i really love the optimism !
    i really do !
But if i was a gambling man i wouldn’t be putting money on our club this season !
Never mind us for a second , but man U got there man !
Chevski are as strong as a field full of Ox’es …
You have the spuds minus clinical strikers ! – i’m less concerned about them !but
liverpool who whipped our butts on the pitch … no point for ref excuses ! history will
show we got booted out of the C.L ! ! and we failed to do the business at home !!!!

well i am actually concerned about the spuds , they beat us 5-1 last time out.
and they have got stronger whilst we have got weaker !
Its a hard defeat getting rolled by them !
you have the Man shitty threat ,
it all adds up to concerned fans !
and concerned fans will come to Le grove because people will listen here !
so what are you doing ? ! ripping the fuck out of every concerned fan ?!
your getting yogi’s disease ! You cant write on here unless its positive ?!
    Your scaring me !

Sure back the team that goes without saying ! I want RVP to whip in a hat trick a game ! but realistically ?

this season we are on a hiding to nothing ! and that is brought about by some Fucking piss poor transfer dealings ! why wont wenger spend money ?
IM !sure!!!! he doesn’t want injured players as PRIME replacements at arsenal ?
& 32 year old man U has beens ! and 2 year old laid off footballers !
    17 year old potential !

fuck if you ask me he got every other type of player other than the ones we really need !
I know your maybe thinking about the ratings ! but Le grove is different for a reason !
because hopefully unless we talk about currency’s and ade people are all friends on here ! :)

    George Micheal is gay ???????
    no way !!!!

his music got me laid more times than i cared to remember in the 90′s !?
    !!!!

did i just say that out loud ?

  66. gnarleygeorge9

Been down the coast myself today Geoff, & it rained mostly. Not a breath of wind, but a nice 1 to 2 metre surf in most parts. Like the song says: “If you’re fond of sand dunes & salty air, quaint little villages here & there” Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh

  67. Obsinho

Every Gooner agrees that are transfer dealings were not what we hoped or expected. But get over it now – there is a team on the pitch still full of class, who happen to wear the crest of a club on their shirts who we all happen to love.

We can take the moral high ground with all other teams – we have principles, history and class. And to all the Chavs and Mancs who can may (50% of them won’t) wave their title at us at the end of the season, just remember how tarnished that title is. I don’t want to win a title from being owned by a rapist Uzbeki – ever.

Wenger has made decisions – they do look like mistakes at the moment, but lets give it a chance to see for sure. Did we really want to spend £15m on a fucking Standard Liege players just to keep the fans happy? No. How about we use the money to pay off the debts quicker, so that we will sooner be the most successful self-finance club in the world. And then we can wave our shining trophies at the bankrupt Spuds and Scousers and do it with pride.

    Fuck ‘em all.

  68. kelsey

Morning Raddy,do you see my comment last night about the fixed danish krone rate to the euro, which I think is for residents only
