Morning Grovers,
Firstly, can I say thanks to all the Grovers who stayed up an waited with baited breath for a signing last night. You truly are some of the most hardcore supporters out there and Arsenal are lucky to have you.
Secondly, a quick mention of Man City. Football is sick, sicker than it has ever been. We now have the might of an Oil Nation trying to push a Club to the top of the Premiership. I was pretty certain at the start of the fun and games last night that Berbatov would never move to a club no more appealing in stature than the Spuds… and he didn’t. Then the shock news came in that Robinho had moved to the Eastlands. What an unambitionless little prat… that move is up there with Cashleys, but at least he moved to a club that was already winning things (I loathe to defend that little toe rag).
I am still convinced that you can chuck as much money at City as you want, but they won’t break into the top 4 because you can only start 11 players… The best players will still always want to play with the best clubs with the most prestige. No amount of money in the world can buy you history or a soul.
Man City might be appealing for a bit, but they’ll always be a small club in the eyes of a superstar footballer and they’ll always be second best next to Manchester United. I hope this experiment flops on a grand scale… but it still sickens me to think that the goal posts have been moved yet again…
Onto Arsenal.
I feel very let down by Arsene because once again I was lured in by his lies. That is why I have created a new term…
A Wengerism: A Wengerism is a type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement, especially with the intention to deceive others.
Do you feel deceived? Wenger has lured us in all summer with the promise of signings, the promise of players staying and the promise of being satisfied as fans. He only said this a couple of days ago,
“We are ready to stay up all night if it is needed,”
“This season it is at midnight on September 1 so you never know. We have still a long time to go.
Indeed he was prepared to stay up all night, apparently in the M25 traffic after attending the reserve game. If you want a list of all the other lies spewed this summer, read here.
Wenger, when you are a fan, all you want is a little bit of honesty from the club. If you’d have come out at the start of summer and said,
‘Look, here is the deal. I’m going to chop a few players out of the squad, and I am going to only replace a couple of them. In the middle of the park, we reckon Denilson is going to make the jump and if he doesn’t we have Song and a Diaby’
Then we could have at least prepared ourselves mentally for what is in store for us. Instead you lead us all to believe you were going to purchase and you failed miserably.
Our title hopes now rest on Song, Diaby and Denilson. Do they even have 100 Arsenal games between them? Can any of them boast a full season of fitness? It’s a sorry state of affairs when a club as huge as Arsenal has to take a risk like that… I’m all for giving youth a go, but how about giving the fans a break every now and then? Do we not fit into this masterplan somewhere?
I’m sick to death of you this summer… I love what you have done for the club over the years, but I think all the blogs will be united in believing that we are once again woefully short in the middle of the park.
It doesn’t matter though, because you’ve made you bed… now you must lie in it.
You will have no excuses come the end of this season because,
- You had the money, despite trying your best to deny it.
- You knew about the crocks (RvP, Denilson, Theo, Eduardo, Diaby, Song, JD…etc).
- You’ve had time .
- You knew the players were young .
- You publicly stated you needed experience.
So you will get my support once again Arsene, but be aware… it is wavering.
If it all goes tits up at the end of the year… you’ll have no one to blame bar yourself.

Has Keegan been fired?
our transfer policy is a bit like me when i go out on a saturday nite. At the start i hope to pull a good looking girl…then the more i drink and the later it gets i just try and bag anything i can!….stevn appiah? jesus the guy has practically one leg!..
Maybe he’ll try harder to be better like you would although I agree he would be better off looking up to someone older and successful at clun level. Just trying to be positive before I go mental.
Kingsley
after 12 pints they all lose 3 stone and look attractive
I am a bit torn on the investment subject. Of course you would love to keep a club based on its historic moral values, but all I see at the moment are a Board that are seeing dollar signs in front of their eyes, everytime a red member joins, a Burger is eaten and a shirt is sold.
But football lost its soul ages ago, so if the right investor was to come in, I think I would go for it. It is the only we will be able to compete soon.
we do need change behind the scene though, We need fresh faces and new ideas, we need to become competitive again instead of having no pressure on the Manager. And we need to be marketed properly. Wenger says these pre-season games in the States, Africa and the Far-east dont prepare the players properly. Well it doesnt seem to have affect Chavski and Man Ure
But Kingsley it is either Appiah or Robbie Savage, that is how far down the Saturday Night pulling ladder we are.
All those self help books talk about pma. Being positive didn’t get me any signings though
FUCK, after 12pints i would prob lose 3stone. Either from sweat and piss or from throwing up every which way. Fuck me 12pints.
I can only manage 3 pints.
Sippy cups work well GoonerMichael
I had &pints on Sat night. Wasn’t really aiming anywhere but i’m told i got sick on my relatives leg. Woops!!!!
choy. –
are u the usless guy who i spoke to on Dell Customer service. when i called about my computer ??
Pat
I’m not torn at all. Investment is one thing but if the source is dodgy how can you ever trust the motives? What will Roman do when he realises he’s not the daddy any more? He’s just another football club owner. Maybe sell to someone richer. But what happens when it’s not the thing to do anymore. Rich people don’t buy football clubs they’re boring, They buy space shuttles.
It used to be cool to own a hummer now they are a10 a penny rappers car.
Pedro, congratulations on your moderation today, it looks like you had your hands full!
Fair play to you for allowing so many comments backing the manager. Noone can say that today’s comments haven’t fairly represented all types of gooners.
I’m also glad that a lot of the more pissed off people are pledging to get behind the team now, I hope that includes Eboue because we might be seeing more of him than expected. But I think he has come on a great deal this summer and he will play an important role for us.
Your link about City’s intentions re Ronaldo was truly jaw-dropping. If the only way we can win is by matching that level of spending power, I am 100% honest when I say I would prefer us not to win. No sport should force clubs to spend that amount of cash to be successful when they can’t produce it themselves. It is sheer, utter madness.
A thought about transfers:
How do players become desirable as transfer targets in the first instance? They must show something to make clubs take notice of them. Either sustained performance or huge potential. Once that is seen, then clubs start circling.
Over the last 4 or 5 years Arsenal have signed players, in the main, on their potential. That doesn’t make those players any less valuable to us now. As someone said earlier, if Alex Song had still been at Bastia this summer, given his ACN/Olympics performances I would imagine his name would have come up as a target. If Diaby (a fit Diaby, granted) was still at Auxerre, and you watched a YouTube clip of him, he would have been touted as a signing possibility. If Denilson was still at Sao Paulo, people would have been foaming at the mouth to get him.
The reality is, if those players were still at their former clubs this summer, we would have got none of them, because Chelsea/Man Utd/City would be able to offer them riches beyond our means.
The point is, we have done things differently, we have been waiting for these players to step up for 2 3 4 years and getting frustrated meantime. But we have just had to sign them before they were fully developed, so we have had to watch their development rather than buying them now as a more fully rounded player. We shouldn’t underestimate their ability to perform, because they were hot targets for a lot of clubs even back when we got them. They can be world class for us – and this season.
I know it sounds like I’m spoonfeeding the crying baby to keep it quiet, but in truth it was just what I was thinking about at work today. Rather than buying them ready-made for significantly more, we bought them still soft and unformed for much ess. We have to hope that now they are ready to spread their wings, and imo there is reason to be optimistic that they will.
Failing that, sack wenger and the board
just ma lil jokey
The worst part of the transfer window was seeing that smug red nose cunt with slaphead holding a mancscum scarf. I’m all for man shitty taking a top 4 place as long as it’s the fucking mancs. I hate them more than anything else. Manchester is a shithole wannabe london.
dont think ive drunk 12 pints for years, but in the name of research, I will have a go tonight.
I will let you know how i got on tomorrow…….. if I can remember.
‘for much less’ that should have said
raif.. nope.. i am not in customer service fucker
oh yeah, I sat up on here till gone midnight waiting to see who the big names were that we were bringing in, the lying fucking tosspot.
I will say no more about it cos I still have the raging hump, I will, however, get behind the team we have, as I always do, and hope to got that the tight french cunt knows something we all dont!
goonermichael
well said mate.
SEb
I agree with your point and if you look at some of their recent signings they were all kind of 2nd step
Berba scum-manu
carrick scum- manu
Tevez w ham- manu
Ferdinand leeds-manu
Extra 10-15 million on their fees.
I know it’s worked for them and they win things but the probably could have bought them at the first step and still done well.
http://football.guardian.co.uk/breakingnews/feedstory/0,,-7769129,00.html
Go Samir!
goonermichael / SEb
the only thing with that is there getting Prem Proven players. and thats paying dividends for the manc scum.
i remember the man scum looking at Berba but didnt bid for him so he ended up going to the Scum down the road. if u look at it like this. Man would let them go to a rival and then buy him back once the have settled in the prem and proven they can play there.
I still think we’ll do well this year.
ha ha ha ha, just read this on the Arse.com “Wenger – Eboue is becoming a pass master ” fuck me, does he think we are blind and stupid?
my earlier comment on Samir blocked?
Raif I thought Icovered that point. Does that mean he’s got no faith in his own judgement? Does he have to let someone else take a risk. That’s something money can do for you I suppose.
Gooner07
post it again if u can?
goonermichael that’s exactly what United do, and it’s what people want us to do as well. In order to do that, we would need to sell up to a big investor, and I’m sorry but personally that is something I’m not comfortable with.
Just watched Newcastle fans on a clip on BBC, protesting about Keegan and the board. When asked what Mike Ashley should do, they were all like, ‘He should resign and we should get some oil money in, do what City have done, to take this club back where it belongs.’ Yes, football has officially gone mad.
I don’t want to support a system that requires you to have billions available so you can spend 50m or 100m or more on players. I just love football and I love Arsenal. Why has the money fucked everything up, I am so frustrated by it I could cry.
My wife thinks I’n nuts – I still expect something to turn up on Arsenal.com….and then you look at the stories on there…paraphrasing but basically:
‘Won’t Vela be great?’
‘Won’t Wilshere be great?’
‘Isn’t Eboue great?’
If the club thinks Theo’s opinion of Jack Wilshere is going to make me feel better about our lack of activity their heads are in the clouds.
How can this placate Arsenal fans when AW himself admitted the squad wasn’t strong / experienced enough?
Eboue cant pass for shit. He almost fucked up for RvPs’ 2nd goal. That was definately the wost backheel i’ve ever seen in my life. He nearly missed the fucking ball. God i fucking hate him! AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There will come a time when owning a football club will become boring but right now nothing could be more fashionable. This is the equivelent of being at the poker table not the one where anyone can play, the one in Las Vagas where you are led through a special door and the financial elite of the world are sitting at the table. The big differece between the Glazires and the Arabs is that the Yanks are doing it as a business investment where as the Arabs just want to be at the table and they don’t care how much they lose because it ain’t about winning it’s about being at the table. And what’s more its going to get worse before it gets better because the Chineese haven’t arrived yet.
pedro that could also work the other way…
if you have bill gates working next to you.. and seeing that he performs so well.. he gets all the recognition.. all the awards.. all the members in the team feel low.. they feel they need to be at a bill gates level.. which is frankly not possible for everyone!!
and they get demotivated…
now football is a team game.. they see cesc fabregas.. humble lad.. who is courted by the world’s top teams.. Euro winner.. pfa young player award winner.. playing at the top flight since 16…working his ass for the team…
you tell me the lads won’t get motivated..
goonermichael.
i dont think its that, even tho its very possible.
i think that Red Face and Manc Scum have this Arrogance about them, thinking they can get anyone they want soon as they come Knocking. look at the targets they have missed out on in the past to prove this fact.
it was with Ron’dino, the agent came out and said they was a air of Arrogance about them in nagotiations.
Aaron Ramsey is another aswell. even tho he was a kid they didnt really pull out the stops to get somone they was tracking for ages.
arjen Robin before Chavs stole the deal.
and in most of there cases its been working. they think there above everyone Bcos there manure.
look at them with this berba deal. they have even given HUSH money to shut Spurs up about there taping up of Berba
I have no ptroblem with investment from whoever. None of the current board got ther money through supporting eco causes, or Amnesty international. The diamond industry is one of the most exploitative industries. employing thousand of basic wage slaves in appalling conditions to dig the rocks from unsave mines. these then get sold to the sick rich. So Before we all get on the terrible Arabs and their dirty oil money we need to think were are so called good traditional money comes from. A Capitalist Bastard is a Capitalist Bastard. So as the saying goes, if your in a fight with a bastard make sure they are on your side.
I would really like to beleive that we do not need the mega money to compete. Sadly that is not true. Wenger tried to do it through a move to a resource rich stadium. But he could not foresee the Billianaires buying into football to play with it. Now the model we have based on sustanable income means we are just a very small and well run business when put against the mega billions of the corporations that are now backing some clubs. It is sad but true. We cannot and possibly never will be able to compete financially with the money flooding in unless the club is sld to someone who does not care about the profit line. So as long as its a business we will have to do it the Wenger way. Lets hope he is the majician that some other sites hold him to be.
Choy,
I think its more than just a case of “gates” motivating. We need a leader with experience so that when the young players need some advice the leader is there to help them through it. Also, Adams and Vieira were such great captains because, not only did they lead by example, they helped those around them. Cesc may be playing a long time but he hasn’t the necessary experience to lead a team. That’s why Wenger doesn’t feel he is ready to be captain just yet.
Cesc leads by example. I think that we need someone that motivates those around him even when he if off form himself. (if that makes sense)
Ther’s alot of talk on the web about us failing in a last minute bid for alonso. Why didn’t we just buy him last week?
Seb.
Northern Monkeys comes to mind !
As to the billionaire football game; well, the argument has raged long and hard on Le Grove. We have differing opinions. Some would take the money, stating that we need it to stay competitive. I would prefer to continue with AW’s experiment, and the existing Board. But to some I am an Old Fart, a traditionalist and a reactionary, not living in the modern world.
What I am certain of is that this is a blow for roots level football. We already give hardly antime for young players to develop, and if the EPL turns into a billionaire’s playground, there will be no talent coming through the ranks. It would be too risky.
As to signing players from the lower leagues, that seems to be changing as well. Theo and Ramsey played a handful of games before big money transfers. A trend that will continue.
well it looks like man city are going to tear up the market now….
every superstar will be linked with them…
if they can take out chelsea for jokes… then i feel sorry for anyone in the next transfer window
Dave.T
I agree that all the types who would be interested in investing are as shady as each other, whether USA Arab Russian Uzbek Chinese English Martian etc.
There is a good article about Robinho on the BBC at the moment, it basically questions whether Robinho will actually be as good as his fee suggests.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/timvickery/2008/09/the_big_question_left_by.html
Spending money has become fashionable, but I hope we can prove that it is not essential. It certainly doesn’t guarantee you anything with a particular signing, but of course if you spend enough you will be bound to get a few good players.
£130m for Ronaldo !!! Whatever figure they quote, he will not go there.
As Pedro so rightly said, players want to go to winning teams. There is no cache to playing for MC, hasn’t been for over 30 years. They will not be able to attract the players.
And I repeat, I would rather have Nasri than Robinho.
Did SWP leave Chelsea because he thought Robiniho was coming, then he turns up at Man C and takes his first team place there??
Big Raddy-
i dont think its the EPL’s WHOLE responsibility to come out with talent coming through the ranks.
alot of it is down at the grass Roots level. they hardly is any in out country. and there is no Football Academy, like in France, Spain, Holland, to name a few.
what do we have over here? NOTHING worth mentioning in my view,
Footballling School of Excellence???
hardly producing anything close to Excellence in my view. unlike the countrys i just Pointed out. once we start getting the Bas of the pyramid in order the pinnacle would look like a more better place. along with the national team.
thats why i hate it when people say in the media that Arsenal and Wenger is to blame for hardly any decent English talent comming though.
I agree wholeheartedly Raif.
That is why hardly any British players play abroad. They are not good enough, either technically or tactically. And that is down to training at a very young age.
If anything Arsenal could be the future of English football. Randall, Lansbury, Wilshere, Simpson, Gibbs, Gilbert etc etc etc. Its hardly Arsenes fault that so far all of the english talent hasn’t been good enough to make the grade.
Big Raddy
thumbs up to you mate. its a shame the FA and all the other Governing bodies in england dont see this. instead they want to punish the big clubs to so somthing so they can Paper over the cracks and not put the funds were its needed and not in there pockets.
i also belive that is why the fee for English Players is so Inflated.
Slightly off the topic that is why i like the approach in the states. to get to the big time they need to play at Collage level. and that means going to school and getting good grades aswell. but it wont work over here if they tried it. well not untill 10 years down the line when the Whole Sport and infrastructure is linked to gether.
well so to speak.
i could be wrong tho, as im just speculating
West Ham and Arsenals youth acadamy’s have supplied most of the current England team, but Chelsea and Man U get the credit because they bought it.
Do the sports players really have to get good grades in the States?
I think it would be asking too much of our lads. Can you imagine Ferdinand, Rooney, Bentley, Terry etc in college?
BR
there is plenty of opportunity for kids in the UK to develop.
you just have to get there asses off the Xbox 360 !
the debate of imports or natural home grown talent doesn’t rely upon
its cheaper to bring talent from abroad !
thats a manufactured myth due to a failing england side .
the worlds a big place and you will never develop more talent inside the UK alone , than the rest of the world !!
i mean come on ! its always been the nature of the beast
and whilst the pound stirling is a top currency in the world
it will always attract over seas players .
the EPL sides pay too well !
we have 4 great divisions in the UK
and the amateur leagues ..
blue square north and south .. what ever !
Professionally the UK is a great place for development !
You can have a dry spell in any country .
you can have a great crop coming thru also !
2 examples are the aussie national team a few years ago !
schwatzer – kewl -vids- emerton – neil + more .
and the dry spell would be .. Does england have a top shelf striker ??
its pretty hard to find a jack wilshere every day of the week or a stevie G !
even theo is one for the future ?!
I would worry more about the spuds and Man shitty taking a top4 birth
than the state of internationals .. and youth development , wenger wont be here forever , he is the only one with that obsessive disorder & in less than 24 months wenger will be gone !
The only change in fortune for AFC will come at the expense of the board or wengers departure ..
I think wenger is a good coach- manager , but currently he needs a good kick up the bum !
our current squad is a disgrace and way too thin !
Not to mention his broken promises to fans and inexcusable prices !
also there is a lot of faith and hope factored in to this current side this year more than any other .,
a club of our stature should be more professional and no be taking calculated risks !
Our board should also be vigilant enough to put a halt to wengers experiment , and order him to get some experience and class into our side!
i dont know which one is worse at the moment .. but i tend to think its the money men ! i refuse to believe wenger is this insane !
Big Raddy
HAHA exactly my point. i know thats how it is in there High School & Collage sports.
im pritty sure in there Collage sports side of this is were all the Talent spotting happens.
as it is very well documented in there Media and Local Media
so on paper it looks simple
HI-SCHOOL / COLLAGE.
Get Good Grades = Place in the Team / Squad = Getting Spoted by a major league scout if your that good.
ethangunner -
i think its the money men to be honest. when this Football bubble pops all the money will be gone and in the end arsenal will still be there running on its own recourse, but god knows what that will happen thats why we need to inject a little bit of cash into Wengers Philosophy to get that added experience we so Need.
Kingsley, select your target early and approach… never leave it to the end of the night!
Nice analogy though!
Whats going on guys, have we signed anyone?
Oh shoot… i’ll have to get a new opening question!
pedro
i think you would get a response more often if you asked who has left ?!
WHam have released details of 2 new signings today, international paperwork delayed the release of the story. I’m so desperate, I won’t give up hope that we made a signing till they report it either way on Arse.com. I mean, look how long we frigged about over the Nasri deal!
That is true Ethan… as long as it’s not JD!
Someone was saying earlier that Eboue will be important this year (London)… He must be important this year, he has to raise his game, muck in with the goals and cut the crap.
Choy, how dare you try and turn my analogy against me! haha!
I’m over the lack of signings now… deep down I knew this would happen… I said it back in July that I didn’t think we’d sign anyone else.
Song, Denilson and Diaby have to find a mini miracle between them… but I am confident we can make a dent in the Prem providing we don’t have and injury crisis.
We’ll all feel better when Rosicky and Eduardo return.
Has anyone got any idea how far Rosicky is from returning?
Seb, cheers for mentioning the moderation.
I can confidently say that I only binned comments that bad mouthed the Grovers and comments that were antagonistic.
It was a bit of a crappy atmosphere this morning, but I think we always knew that would happen… I think most of us are over it now
I actually have a feeling that Eboue is going to win over the fans this year
I dreamt it in my post transfer deadline sleep.
I did also dream that I woke up to signings of Arshavin and Alonso
Earlier than expected last time I checked… I think he is due back in a couple of weeks?
raif
i know its the board also !
ive personally been in wenger shoes ..
having to defend your staff !
and the lack of man power you have available ..
but to clients ( or the fans )
you cannot look unprofessional ! you have to make excuses !
you have to make up bullshit reasons to justify a clients delay .
you have to tell other co – companies the plans are on shedule !
and how anyone can believe wenger has abundant funds to spend
when he gets a mix of free transfers and old timers injured players
and junior talent , its beyond me !
also 7 out and 4 in !
we were down on players last year too !
its ok thou we still have eboue !
i heard man shitty is getting ronaldo 134 mil torres and cesc ..
then he will turn his attention to eboue for 30 million
come on wenger sort out
stephan appiah
he is our only hope
eboue will be important this year pedro ..
we are losing players too quickly , for him not to become a important member this season..
London, the last I read was in September, so in a few weeks time all being well and good, but he’ll probably need a reserve game or 2 to get used to playing again.
tomas rosicky can play the fabregas role actually….
i am sure i heard wenger mention that before
Wenger said last week that he did not know when Rosicky would be back
This is from Friday
Arsenal’s injury list is still considerable, with four key players still out. New boy Mikael Silvestre is the nearest to recovery, while Abou Diaby and Tomas Rosicky are still some way from returning to the line-up.
“The closest is Silvestre,” said Wenger. “He should be available after the international break. Abou Diaby, for me, is three weeks away. We don’t really know about Tomas Rosicky yet.”
im sure wenger RE: rosicky ,
2 weeks ago said he will be ready in 2 weeks !
and yes its his preferred position .. CM !
but then your not playing a DM which arsene seems to have a weakness for !
Im all for becoming more attacking ! But i cant see wenger doing it ..
also not happy with cesc becoming a spokes man for real madrid !
who cares if robinho left a day or 2 shy of the 1st round kickoffs ..
it sounded like robinho wasn’t used much anyhow !
I fear cesc is being a good Spanish boy feathering his own nest for the future
any other reason for this long silence on transfer window. Wenger comes up with unique statements about the state of football, etc. This time, it’s just propagandist articles on few players, probably to hype ‘em up among fans. I don’t understand the silence. Arsene would want to release an interview sooner or later to calm down the fans. OR, is he signing Appiah? Mystery…
So Rosicky’s return has been delayed, that’s unfortunate.
Who really believes all this talk about 134 million for Ronaldo…..
First off, Ronaldo wants to play for Real Madrid, so it’s easy to dream up a number knowing full well it will never happen, secondly, Ferguson is more interested in him as a player than the money.
Having a foreign government pumping any amount necessary into a club is completely off the scale, it’s like Microsoft taking over Bolton or something like that.
The crazy thing is, Abu Dhabi is on everyones lips now, people who would never think about Abu Dhabi are talking about it. The Premier League has an audience of over 1 billion people, how much would it cost in advertising to promote your country on a sustained basis like that If the team do well, the country gets Kudos.
The Premier League could be overtaken one day a by sandal wearing Sultans.
You wouldn’t believe that back in 1992 would you?
finest you made a typo
I believe you meant to say ‘Abou Diaby is on everyones lips now, people who would never think about Abou Diaby are talking about him.’
GO ABOUUUUUUU
Good read from Online Gooner touching on the AISA AGM yesterday night, Ken Friar’s explanation of our financial position, and why we didn’t buy:
http://www.onlinegooner.com/editorial/index.php?id=120
Nothing we didn’t already know in a way, but at least it confirms things.
Seb, I read that earlier… it was a good piece.
Then 2 hours later another writer from the same site wrote a piece ripping people who were questioning Wenger!
Madness I tells ya!
24 hours on… what are your thoughts Seb?
JESUS I WAITED ALL SUMMER FOR US TO FIND A BERKHAMP WRIGHT OR PIRES. NASRI I FEEL LOOKS THE BOLLOCKS AND WELL DONE AW YOU DID IT AGAIN. HOWEVER I’M LOOKING AT MY PRIDE AND JOY, MY RESOLUTE GUNNERS LOOKING SO LIGHT WEIGHT I DON’T THINK AW WILL PROVE ME WRONG THIS SEASON, WE DON’T HAVE THE BEEF WE AIN’T GONNA DO IT. BUT I LOVE US THEM AND HIM SO PLEASE GOD WE ARE MAKING HISTORY WITH OUR FOOTBALLIN STYLE AND DISTAIN FOR FREE MONEY.
I LOVE ARSENAL
ALWAYS HAVE AND
ALWAYS WILL
NOW LETS ENJOY THIS SEASON AS WE SHOULD AS THE BEST FLAIR AND SEDUCTIVE CLUB IN THE PREM.
GOD BLESS THE GUNNERS
GERRY TENERIFE
hmm
well in all honesty the only way we will know if we’re good enough is when we face a decent test. Kiev or Porto this month possibly, Everton and Spurs in October, or United on November 8th.
I want to believe that out of Denilson Diaby Song and even Bischoff, we have a player who will stand up and be counted. I really want to. But matches are the acid test, so until we’ve either fucked up once or twice more against mediocre opposition, or do okay for a while then stumble against a decent side, it’s hard to know.
I suppose there’s no reason why these players can’t play well for a whole season, they are pros after all and they aren’t children anymore.
I was disappointed we couldn’t get ‘another body’ as our illustrious manager had put it, but then in the context of City I feel even more disillusioned with the whole transfer system. So you just have to hope in what we’ve got. Which is not bad at all really. It’s not like we’re out of contention is it.
Just read an outrageous rumour on a rumour site, saying we could be taken over by the 2nd richest man in the world, a Mexican called Carlos Slim Helu……………..who is worth a staggering $60 billion. Just had to share this rumour with my fellow depressed “gooners!” It probably won’t ever come true………………………..BUT WHAT IF IT EVER DID????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Eboue is just one letter away fom being a cult.
lol can I make clear that I am aware that Bischoff will not be standing up and being counted for a while yet, in fact he might not even be standing up.
If it did GJ then a) it wouldn’t make a difference until January, and b) I wouldn’t be happy about it at all, for reasons I have chuntered on about far too much today already.
wenger must not like being in the champions league
is this not his last season in the job???????
GJ, I am afraid that we have to accept our days are numbered regarding the current board.
If the Mexican wants a piece brilliant, but to me there is no difference between him, Usmanov, Kroenke or anyone else.
We’re going to end up the play thing of someone… but the Yanks have been operating that way for years.
Seb, I think Man City are going to struggle to make an impact as quickly as they want to. Mark Hughes is far from proven and gelling ego’s is an art…
Trindle, Eboue is 2 letters away from being a disease.
has wenger done an interview yet?
Touche!
… as long as Cesc doesn’t catch it!
people need to realise that this policy of wengers will not work in a million years with all this money in todays game.the sooner he realises this the better….
this also seems toe cesc’s last season in an arsenal shirt.Blame wenger for this
i to call it a a wengerism by the way what a great word………
Choy – the total lack of comment shows either a lack of respect or a lack of understanding – someone said earlier (may have been last night, I’m still tired) that they use the love we have for our club against us … it is so true.
W
Spread the word BBK!
Trindle, nice avatar… who is it?
Choy… no.
Pedro – the late and great George Armstrong.
Ahh! Nice!
Lets get this straight, we are competing for champions league qualification and thats it. This is the reason arsene has not strengthened he knows to compete with manures and chelski squad for all major comps would require 5-6 players and 100 mill. Arsenes goal above all is champs league qualifaction and that is it.
Arsene has been lying/ misleading us fans for the last year he is mentally struggling i fear for his sanity.
great footbal and no trophies that is the way it is at arsenal now.
Arsene is the only manager to have lost all the major finals without winning any the cup winners cup final LOST the uefa cup final LOST the champs league final LOST.
It tells a story doesnt it.
In the days before replica shirts, I had a dyed red t-shirt (sleeves masked off to stay white) with the no 7 etched on the back. All a bit different now.
Grays, I reckon we will challenge this year… injuries pending…
I think Chelsea have weakened again, I think Ronaldo will pick up more injuries this year and I think Rafa has got it wrong again.
It’s going to be a good year, but remember… the champs league past the group stages is anyones.
John Jensen said we would definitely win a title this year… A danish hero… who are we to argue?
How do you prefer the game, how it is… or how it was?
john jensen pedro sounds like a wengerism to me m8
I don’t think he is mentally struggling – I think he is doing exactly what the Board want and expect him to do. Lets not forget, he aint paid badly for doing it either.
If you thought football changed when the Chavskis got their benefactor (or if you’re older and recall Jack Walker buying a title for Blackburn) then you aint seen nothing yet. These guys are driven by very very strong motives and when they say money is no object, they mean it.
the big 4 is a myth, it is the big 2 manure and chelski. Look at the last 4 years!
There is no way barring a miracle that our squad is big enough and can avoids injuries to get near either of them. We can stay with them for 6 months yes, but when the trophies are handed out we wont be able to last the distance, this has been proved time and time again.
I am hanging onto january trnsfer window, arsene will need to do a larsson type maneuver, but i wouldnt bet on it.
For the avoidance of doubt, “these guys” are the new Abu Citeh guys and not the Arsenal Board.
Right, off to bed … night Grovers
the next 3 away games will determine whether or not arsenal have got what it takes this season….
The game is better now because the coverage is every minute of every day, simple.
Football in the 80′s had some cracking games but it didnt have the 24/7 interviews and news
wengers made his bed now he must “LIE”in it ……
Gunners,
I know we are all frustrated, but lets step back a minute and reflect on our assets and how we can manage them going foward.
The holding midfield role is where we all will like to see strenghtened. But lets remember that Flamini stepped up and outplayed Gilberto last season in that role. Between Song, Diaby and Denilson, we may be able to cover the DM position. My money is on Song to step up and make that position his. the question is will wenger play him? Diaby can come in to assist as well as Denilson but I do not see Arsenal going near 6th position with Just diaby and Dennilson. The jury is out and AW has no excuses…
Gerry, I’m 24 and I know how to spell ‘whinging’, unlike you (WINGEING if anyone was wondering)… I guess that makes me more intelligent than you.
You are 44 and you used the term ‘dick brain’, I guess that gives you a mental age of 6…
Well played, no one saw your comment apart from me… I hope you are proud of yourself.
Night shift starts at McDonalds in ten minutes… on your way…
m off… take care all.. nite grovers !!
confident you make good points. every season we make are selves optimistic for the season ahead and every season we break down because our squad runs out of energy and steam.
We are being realistic it doesnt matter if denilson shines or diaby plays a blinder our squad is not BIG enough when the last 15 games of the season are all cup finals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arsene is the only manager to have lost all the major finals without winning any!!! The cup winners cup final LOST the uefa cup final LOST the champs league final LOST.
It tells a story doesnt it, hes not a born winner.
Just enjoy the sexy football
Grays, if one of the kids can make an impact in the middle, I’d argue we might even be in better shape than last year?
Ok… going out on limb here…
Ade is another year on, hopefully there is an upward trajectory. RvP will bang them in all year long if he stays injury free. We all know what Eduardo can do with a half chance.
Nasri is Hleb+… Cesc has winners experience… Eboue is starting to play… Rosicky is supposed to be fixed and the back 4 is the same with the welcome addition of an assured JD.
If Song can replicate his ACN form… why couldn’t we challenge again? Flamini wasn’t that great… just a workhorse with great energy.
Another strong prospect for Dm is Rosicky . problem is he hardly stays fit. Perhaps his new titanium knees can help now?
Night Choy and trindle.
Grays
When you say “time and time again” do you mean the last 4 seasons?
Grays, you can’t base a story around 2 European finals… that doesn’t tell us anything? Just that we’ve had bad luck along the way.
when cesc is injured which will not be too long await we will be fucked again can you imagine if he was injured for a big game denilson and eboue in the midfield it will be even worser then the fulham game
Confident gunner… Rosicky likes to play in the hole… he couldn’t play a holding role, he’s not built for it.
Grays
If Wenger isn’t a born winner did he fluke 2 doubles? Saying he’s lost it is one thing but to say he never had it is a bit steep really.
come on lets face it this team has not got a patch on the 03-04 team the current squad is weaker then this time last year we are truly fucked
No way BBK… we’ve got a good team and we will compete. The only question is whether the squad can last past Feb.
please….
gallas toure is a rubbish cb pairing and then hen you compare it to terry carvahlo, vidic ferdinand it looks even worse!
we have great rb and lb but no proven cover at all in those positions
we have cesc, we have ade no one else is either proven or not made of glass
ITS NOT ENOUGH TO WIN TROPHIES
then we have the dm problem, then we have the right mid problem, then we have gk questions, and finally we have the star players made of glass problem.
Thats to many problems to beat chelski manure.
rooney tevez berbatov ronaldo…….. come on thats on another level i dont care how good ade and a fit rvp are.
with who pedro pompy and totnumb
adebayor will not even get more then 8 goals this season
I used to post on a few other sites but have found today that i just can’t be bothered with a lot of them out there. Reading some of the comments that people have made on some of the bloggs out there just makes me mad! how can people have such blind faith in Le Boss. Now im not calling for his head just yet But when i’m not allowed to voice and opinion on my club then something is wrong. We are going to end up looking as stupid as the toon boys on Wrightys blog the other day. and just because we criticise doesn’t mean we are “plastic supporters” or not old enough to rember the dark old days!
Glad you can say what you feel on this blog without being called all sorts!
Grays, you’ve just gone through the whole team and called them crap without justifying it?
RvP, Nasri, Rosicky are not good players in your book?
Silvestre is not adequete cover for Clichy? Eboue not for Sagna?
Eduardo not a good enough finisher?
We’ve got loads going for us… the middle of the park is the only issue at the moment, but Song is looking assured and played well at the olympics.
Look for the positives and you’ll find them! We’ll be ok this year.
1000 two days on the bounce Pedro, Well done guys
MM, you can say what you like as long as there is substance to what you are saying.
If you have an opinion and you can back it up, then you have every right to have that opinion heard.
Flirting with other blogs? How bloody dare you!
alright lads (and the ladies too)… long time reader, first time poster…
I am very dissapointed in Wenger, really thought we’d get someone, but not to worry… for now we have to focus on the current team… i think with the players we have we can certainly challenge up until christmas and then re-inforcements will be brought in, if needs be. (Although, yesterday shows us you never can tell…!)
i think with the players availible (fitness permitting), a 4-5-1 might work…
……………..Almunia
Sagna…..DJ…Gallas….Clichy
…………..Song…Cesc
………………rosicky
…..Nasri………………..RvP
…………….Adebayor
that team is weak
Cheers Pat!
I need to leave now… Bedfordshire is calling… and I’ve spent too much time here this week already!
Good night!
Welcome to Le Grove Fletcher. Someone was suggesting a similar formation earlier… I’m with you, lets focus on the positives now, and moan if it all goes wrong later.
Good night again!
As we where all pretty much of the opinion we needed just one or two players to really challange this season, all we really need is one of the youngsters to step up a lot like the flamster did last season., and a bit of luck with Le list and we won’t be far off winning things!
Pedro
I’ve really grown to like this site and I post more or less every day. I’m becoming really bored and depressed with people telling me we’re fucked all the time though.
song rosicky cesc are you for real
Grays, you’ve just gone through the whole team and called them crap without justifying it? (NO)
RvP, Nasri, Rosicky are not good players in your book? NOT PROVEN (NASRI) OR MADE OF GLASS (RVP ROSICKY)
Silvestre is not adequete cover for Clichy? Eboue not for Sagna? (NO HE HASNT PLAYED FOR @ YEARS AND IS INJURED)
Eduardo not a good enough finisher? (NOT CURRENTLY!)
We’ve got loads going for us… the middle of the park is the only issue at the moment, but Song is looking assured and played well at the olympics.
Look for the positives and you’ll find them! We’ll be ok this year.
wake up and smell the coffee if lee dixon is worried ian wright tony adams then does that not say something even vieira has had his say they are all right we are fucked with wenger being a stubborn cunt and doing it his way for the past 4 years which has not worked does that not tell you something…..
Gooner Michael, I don’t mind hearing peoples concerns and debating them out becuase we are all worried… but just aimless ‘we’re doomed’ gets a bit boring.
We just need a couple of wins on the trot to put an end to the worry. We have weaknesses, but at some point, we’re going to get lucky with injuries.
If I post tomorrow, I feel a bright positive one coming on… because if things feel negative around Arsenal… it ruins my day!
MM great shout btw.
Night!
welcome Fletch
interesting shape to your team, although it contains all the players most people would put as our strongest 11 anyway
I think RvP plays right side for Holland, so he can cut in and shoot with his left. I would swap him and Nasri around. I could be wrong about this though.
Grays, all proven internationals.
I won’t convince you… but I think the boys will! So we shall see.
Catch you later.
BBK what fucking good is it going to do moaning about it now?!
Have your rant, get it out of your system, then settle down for the long haul. There is nothing we can do now except back the players we have – that is if you want us to have any success. We have had 24 hours of everyone flipping out over not signing anyone, that moment has gone, now we have to look at what we have and give our support to the team.
And as for Song Rosicky and Cesc they are 3 proven international players so I don’t see what your problem with any of them is.
can you imagine a midfield consisting of-NASRI-EBOUE-DENILSON-WALCOTT.in a crunch game at old trafford…..it is not worth thinking about
pedro is geoff dead btw?
seb are you for real
Gerry, you couldn’t even spell the opening word of your comment (Pardond <- not a word mate)…
Probably too dim for McDonald’s, I’ll take a guess at glass cleaner… off you trot.
Geoff is in America Seb… he’ll be blogging at some point.
BBK, you need to lighten up mate…
seb you are in for one hell of a let down come december if you think that song cesc and rosicky would be a strong midfield i say you are in for a bad time because if wenger did pick that as the midfield they would be destroyed at a place like old trafford anfield or even whl…..
why do i need to lighten up for pedro is this blog not for having an opinion??
BBK
you’ll never ever be let down because you’re about as far down as you can get.
is it me or does song look huge when hes on the pitch?
Night pedro
gm if this team is weaker then last season what makes you think they can challenge for an honour.when cesc gets injured again and denilson and eboue fill the void if you thought fulham was bad wait and see what happens against a bigger team.lets face it arsenal are a one man team
Have you seen the mancs without ronaldo? Did they struggle against Newcastle? pissed on by russians.
yeah but there one man help them win the double what has cesc delivered yet?????
I really can’t be bothered
Raif walks in and saw BOY BETTER KNOW killed the Comments Section,
Raif slowly walks out the room. not making a sound as he cloeses the Door behind him
I cant remember the last transfer period when I felt chuffed about our activities!
I haven’t a clue?? Non if it makes any sense and the fact that the board and Wenger seem to be quite deceptive about everything makes it even more frustrating!!!
On a positive note if some of these guys that Wenger believes in can indeed step up and we can get by with minimal injuries and just get our fair share of love from the ref unlike last reason, then we certainly have a team that can compete for honours.
