Whenever I see Newcastle it reminds me of those American Ice Hockey refs or the boys and girls in Footlocker that serve you shoes that never fit. It’s like they are all over the pitch trying to sell our players basketball shoes and shoe stretchers.
Anyway no surprise when I tell you all I expect another 4 nil tonking, Paddy Power was on Arsenal TV last night and he says 3 nil, so it would be a little wimpy of me not to go for 4, so I’ll go for 4.
I hope he plays Djourou in the middle with Gallas as I think he deserves it and I also think he’s a better centre back than Kolo, sorry Kolo, but you and Johan or Johan and Billy are better combinations.
I would keep the same team other than giving Ade a shot with Robin again, not because he deserves it, but because he seems to like scoring against them.
I have said before I think the booing should stop, because it’s so unlike the Arsenal to boo their own, however, I also think it’s time Wenger understood how much these guys get paid and how much his comments take the piss out of the working class person that would die to wear the Arsenal shirt, so I think Ade should go on TV and apologise, if he does that, all will be forgotten, simple really, but therein lies the problem!
We had a blogger on last night who ended his comment with the words of French revolutionary wordsmith and philosopher Voltaire, ‘I may not agree with what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it’ I think we may adopt those word as our mantra so thanks for that CD Jones, oh and nice comment too.
Finally I think Daniel Fizman read our Peter Hill-Wood post because he answered some of our concerns about the black hole of Arsenal, and that it was so close to our post is too much of a co-incidence, so well done Danny, I liked you when we met and chatted at the first shareholders lunch, and I like you now, feel free to post a comment and thanks for reminding our manager he has some funds available. If you don’t want to go public, email us.
Over to you Arsene, you have 3 days left, please don’t waste them, we desperately need quality players!
Have a great weekend Grovers next up is Pedro’s match report and the description of our 4 super duper goals!

Le Grove is now smart phone compatible!

August 30, 2008 at 09:02
wooooooooo
August 30, 2008 at 09:05
Pedro I’d like to think DF reads Le Grove, and if he does, a message – have a shave!
August 30, 2008 at 09:06
oops Geoff that was meant to say
August 30, 2008 at 09:06
Geoff – 4 -0, you obviously had a good sleep and woke with great confidence
Love the comparison with the shirts of the geordies, KK will get his team up for this, and if we do what we did last week at the same time…. !!!???? Doesnt bare thinking about
August 30, 2008 at 09:08
I need a shave!
Great post Geoff, a very jolly saturday morning Grovepost!
Agree on Ade… bad PR? Do me a favour… he made a bad PR mistake all year and now the goals have dried up! Get scoring and the crowd will back you.
I don’t want to hear booing today though… for anyone.
Hopefully we’ll all get behind the team and get a resounding result!
The Spuds have Chavski… not 3 losses on the bounce? haha!
August 30, 2008 at 09:10
well said geoff – 4 goals would be well worth the staying up until 02:30am for the kick off!
Cdjones’ words were top notch!
August 30, 2008 at 09:11
FFS Arsenal.com has totally lost it this time. check out the picture, surly they could have found another more suitable.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-deadline-day-is-like-a-poker-game
August 30, 2008 at 09:13
davoody – i saw that too and thought we must have signed him. hahaha…not!
August 30, 2008 at 09:13
Jailbird Joey is possibly going to make an appearance today, that could be interesting
On transfers, we play today, ‘pool tomorrow, so if we are going to get Alonso, there is not much time to sort it out…. 2355hrs 01/09/08 no doubt!!
August 30, 2008 at 09:14
jesus christ davoody
a whole fucking article about a spud. what is wrong with these people????
AW is just answering questions from the media, but why focus on it? We want to hear about OUR team and OUR transfers!
Oh… there aren’t any transfers to talk about… I see…
August 30, 2008 at 09:14
Steve Coppel is an excellent manager. They reckon he is the closest thing England have to Arsene.
Arsenal will finish top 4 Jules… of that I have no doubt. Top 4 is not where we want to be though… top 2 would be my target. If Wenger signs a couple of Gems we could make it…
I don’t think it is the board… I think it is Arsene that is the problem… he is very keen to follow his dream of doing it with youth (Sounded sooo wrong).
Do we think Ade will start today?
August 30, 2008 at 09:16
Basketball Jones was great http://hometown.aol.com/sillysongbook/images/chch%20basketball%20jones.jpg Now I’ve heard the CD
August 30, 2008 at 09:17
Pedro – any joy re choys address please?
August 30, 2008 at 09:17
top 2 target?
we’re in it to win it aren’t we?
On the last performance, Bendtner doesn’t really deserve another start, he was pretty woeful. He needs to sit out and realise he’s not the finished article yet. I’m all for rotating the two big guys this season based on form.
August 30, 2008 at 09:17
I sent it yesterday? I replied to your mail?
Check the spam!
August 30, 2008 at 09:18
Yeah, exactly… but as an overall target, I would consider second a sucess… because if we finished there, it would mean we would have won the CL.
August 30, 2008 at 09:19
Seb, does RvP deserve a start then?
August 30, 2008 at 09:19
I would like to see Vela get a run out today
August 30, 2008 at 09:19
Rico… overall that is the second time I have e-mailed it…
August 30, 2008 at 09:20
Ah, sorry Pedro, didnt think to look there, me and computers!!!
Many thanks for your help
August 30, 2008 at 09:22
Bugger – seen the other one now too,
August 30, 2008 at 09:23
Good Morning Geoff (and Pedro), I’m off to the Emirates this afternoon with a spring in my step after the FC Twente game. Funny that, how 1 game can fill you with such elation. One problem, my work colleague is a Geordie; and I have alreday been told ”I expect you not to come in on Monday then”? whatever can he mean……helooooo, don’t think so! Anyway, Geoff (and Pedro) once again I wanted to say I do love your blog, read it every day and it makes my day every time. xxxx
August 30, 2008 at 09:23
he needs to sit it out and realise hes not the finished article yet?
and what, show us he is the finished article from the bench over the season?
August 30, 2008 at 09:25
I think its really important for the back 4 to get sorted, so JD20 should get a start today. 3 clean sheets when he’s played should be enough said. Also, its no coincidence that when we made the CL Final, the back 4 got us there. It wasn’t until AW decided to play his mates Ashley & Sol for the final that the cohesion was lost.
August 30, 2008 at 09:25
It’s difficult to say who will start, there will be rotations, and because Adebayor ran riot against Newcastle last time I think he’ll get picked. Toure will probably be in to mark Owen, Newcastle’s danger man, so Djourou will probably get a few minutes near the end.
This is my guess:
Almunia
Clichy, Toure, Gallas, Sagna
Walcott, Denilson, Fabregas, Nasri
RVP Adebayor
I’m still wondering wether Djourou will be put in as a starter, but the odds are long, quite improbable.
Above is a pretty standard Arsenal selection apart from Denilson. Newcastle are better than they were last year, Keegan’s got rid of all the dead wood in his own words
and they’ve got the bit between their teeth.
Home win for me, 2-1.
August 30, 2008 at 09:27
I dont rate Nikers one bit, but sitting him on the bench week in week out will lessen his confidence even more – also, I dont think any of our strikers have been good enough yet. I think all three of them need that special moment, you know, the one where the ball hits the back of the net, and it must be between the two white posts!!
Whilst Vela is away, I hope AW has Simpson on the bench aswell as Nik, and keep warming them up during the match, give them something to think about!
August 30, 2008 at 09:28
Pedro – re RvP. I don’t see him making outright mistakes other than missing the target, I really feel he is only a goal away from bursting into form. This may seem irrational but it’s just how I feel. He looks sharp, he is working for the team, his class is undeniable. besides Ade and Nik just don’t work together, end of.
Evo – I only meant today
he is by all accounts quite full of himself, so he needs to realise that if he gets a start, he needs to produce and stop making silly errors in possession. I personally don’t feel that he is fully focussed all the time. This is just imo of course ^^
August 30, 2008 at 09:29
Rico
Little Nicky
needs, IMO, a hat trick so as he feels he’s arrived
August 30, 2008 at 09:30
Seb, I actually imagined what you wrote in your 8.30ish am post….terrible!
August 30, 2008 at 09:31
Seb
I agree, for RVP its as simple as ABC, thats how easy scoring wil be, once he gets one in. Does everyone remember their 1st ;oops;
August 30, 2008 at 09:31
August 30, 2008 at 09:32
Have a cracking time today then Skandibird!
Rico, at least you have them now!
THey are expecting you to get a 2 day hangover? Good luck to you then!
I’d like to think JD has done enough finest… after all, he has kept 2 clean sheets again!
Is owen fit? I read he has been offered £140k a week! He gets paid so much money for doing fuck all…
Seb, I think every gooner wants to see and in form RvP setting the prem alight! We want to see more goals like that one in the emirates cup or at charlton!
August 30, 2008 at 09:33
im sure he’ll show his worth over time, i watching the BBC MOTD hightlights of the Arsenal vs spuds game from december last year earlier for a bit of inspiration, rosicknote was gold in that game, Bendtner scored that cracking header too!
August 30, 2008 at 09:34
finest – it would be the most amazing Arsenal event in history, you know it makes sense
August 30, 2008 at 09:34
Pedro
JD20 2 clean sheets F C Twente + 1 clean sheet WBA= 3 clean sheets.
August 30, 2008 at 09:35
RVP is a classy striker, unique….you don’t get many like him about, thats why I think Adebayor wants them both together up front. they’ll score you different kinds of goals. RVP will score masterpieces that no one else could dream of or create, he can create a goal out of nothing, and Adebayor will get lots of dirty slam dunks, we need both. When RVP and Ade played together last season, that’s what got us to number 1, their strength complement each other….RVP will be on form, just you wait ye doubters.
August 30, 2008 at 09:36
What’s all this rabbits foot mumbo jumbo? I dont recall seeing that widget before – so what did you curse us with last February then?
August 30, 2008 at 09:38
AaaaaaaaaHHHHHHH!!!! I love match day
August 30, 2008 at 09:38
I’m going to put a new good luck charm up after we lose a game.
It’s scientific research for Oxford University.
I’m trying to ascertain what the best good charm is… the rabbits foot is on a 1 game winning streak… hopefully I wont need to change it for a couple of months.
August 30, 2008 at 09:39
Good Morning Geoff/Pedro,
Today is the first real test for the boys,if the improvement against twente, who are nothing but a championship side is maintained we should win.RVP needs that first goal,to get back on track, and none of this wenger we were not focused from the start when we played fulham. The geordies will try to offer the same bruising tactics to stifle our midfield, and we need to be up for it,and gallas needs to muster his troops from the first minute.
Pedro I appear to have lost cesc again on my posts.
August 30, 2008 at 09:39
george – if nikers gets a hat-rick, i think everyone would feel like they had ‘arrived’
August 30, 2008 at 09:40
Good blog, but can I haul you up one thing:
“I have said before I think the booing should stop, because it’s so unlike the Arsenal to boo their own, however, I also think it’s time Wenger understood how much these guys get paid and how much his comments take the piss out of the working class person that would die to wear the Arsenal shirt, so I think Ade should go on TV and apologise, if he does that, all will be forgotten, simple really, but therein lies the problem!”
We know that’s never going to happen. Let’s move on and hopefully the goals will start coming in. I think the time’s come to stop defending the f*ckwits who show up to undermine the players.
August 30, 2008 at 09:40
You’re not logged into your wordpress account Kelsey!
August 30, 2008 at 09:41
Sorry that why I think Wenger wants both Adebayor and RVP up front..
August 30, 2008 at 09:42
Gunnar, I don’t think you can call the paying fan a fuckwit.
They are not Jolly come latelys… they are hardened gooners in the main.
I don’t agree with the booing, but if that is the way people feel… the only way their opinion can be changed can be by the players in question on the pitch.
August 30, 2008 at 09:45
well amen to that idea Pedro – if it works…
Evo that was a cracking header yes, it’s his all round game that needs to be upped, but I do think he will make the grade, just needs a bit of a firm hand until then (ooer)
rico – shocking!! :-O
August 30, 2008 at 09:47
Gunnar,
You implying that the booing is comin from this blog mate ?
August 30, 2008 at 09:48
his ball skill is better than Ade, he is just required to go up the park further to link up with other players
August 30, 2008 at 09:50
I think you can Pedro: If they see the form of a player suffering, which is hurting the team and they continue to put the boot in then something’s not working upstairs. I’d say it’s actually disloyal to the club to keep up this behaviour.
This issue of loyalty is somewhat murky in football anyway. Especially now Eboue has started getting stick. Where’s the loyalty there? It makes me worried that with Ade a watershed has now been broken, and now any scapegoat’s fair game for sections of the fans.
August 30, 2008 at 09:50
Time to move on with Adebayor. Lets save the booing for that £60k a week scumbag Barton. Wanker.
August 30, 2008 at 09:52
Jules 1 – Nope. Geoff said the booing should stop.
August 30, 2008 at 09:53
Doublegooner – now there’s a guy that really deserves a good sh*t-shower. Everything gets put into perspective when a real criminal shows up.
August 30, 2008 at 09:54
Double g
My fantasy is Yo Yo shirt fronting the jail bird & he’s carried off on a stretcher. I think Evo can picture what I mean.
August 30, 2008 at 09:55
Hit the stir crazy cnut hard
August 30, 2008 at 09:55
I think the fans are just a bit sick of seeing substandard players coming off the bench. I didn’t hear the jeering of Eboue… Did anyone else? I’ll listen out today, but I am pretty sure that didn’t happen down my end of the ground.
Booing is out of order… but the shitty summer I had wondering if Ade was leaving was also out of order.
If you are a man who takes home £300k a month, you should be able to take a bit of booing. He needs to take a leaf out of Ronaldo’s book…
I’m not justifying the booing, I am just playing devils advocate…
I think the team will get behind everyone today… and there was plenty of singing directed ade’s way at the Twente game… it far out weighed the negativity.
August 30, 2008 at 09:55
Anyone seen Diaby ?
Been with us over two & half years & prob played 20/30 games at a guess
August 30, 2008 at 09:55
Pedro don’t start messing about with all that Voodoo magic stuff (you’ll end up believing it!)…..allegedly some Manyoo supporting Voodoo practitioners hexed Adebayor last season which is why he missed all those sitters….
August 30, 2008 at 09:56
Well said doublegooner… I wouldn’t mind him getting a bit of the Eduardo treatment.
Harsh… but if anyone deserves that in football… it is him.
August 30, 2008 at 09:56
morning all, i am going with 4 goals also, its what i thought the other night also,
August 30, 2008 at 09:57
Finest, that is like saying I hexed Derby last year!
Ade will always miss sitters, but he’ll always get on the end of something and get a few goals in a year!
August 30, 2008 at 09:58
Right, I’m off to send a package to Oz… laters!
August 30, 2008 at 09:58
pedro , try a lucky shamrock, ill bring u one over in october!(4 leaf clover)
August 30, 2008 at 09:58
Gunnar good call about scapegoats, Eboue is a prime example, his name will get touted if we lose today – even if he doesn’t play O_o
Previous scapegoats:
2007/8 – Eboue/Senderos
2006/7 – Song/Eboue/Senderos
2005/6 – Hleb
2002 – 2006 – Cygan
2000 – 2004 – Stepanovs
Any others you lot can think of?
August 30, 2008 at 09:58
i hope we see Vela Today. i got him in my Fantasy Grove team and he still aint plaid. ive lost the chance to get some points on a player who i hope will get me sack load. if not im ganna have to get rid for somone else
August 30, 2008 at 09:59
Pedro, you saying that we’ve got substandard players at Arsenal ?
August 30, 2008 at 10:01
Seb,
1999-2003 – Oleg Luzhny
1998 – ? – Nelson Vivas
1999-1999 – Thierry Henry!
August 30, 2008 at 10:02
raif im worried, i dumped Theo last weekend after another no-show, now he’s probably going to rip up the Prem!
But I got Cisse in instead and I reckon he will get a sackful. Just need RvP to start firing now…
August 30, 2008 at 10:02
Yes I am Jules…
Eboue, Denilson and Senderos (He is still our player).
August 30, 2008 at 10:04
So Ade is sensitive, if he did to his own people in Togo what he did to us in Islington, I suspect booing may be the least of his problems, you get £80k a week Ade, stop whining and go an earn it, maybe you’ll be welcome back then.
August 30, 2008 at 10:05
Yes Vivas is a good one, henry in that first season (and for me personally in his last for us – god I hated him then, staring everyone down all the time)
But Oleg was a good reliable workhorse for us imo, nothing fancy but did a job
August 30, 2008 at 10:06
Hey Pedro, what about a box at the top saying mantra and bung in the Voltaire quote.
August 30, 2008 at 10:06
Fucking great article (even though James Lawton wrote it): http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/james-lawton-wengers-revolution-lays-down-test-of-loyalty-for-arsenal-fans-913161.html
August 30, 2008 at 10:07
Yup good point Geoff, he’d be strapped to a cart naked and people would throw stones at him in the street or some other gruesome punishment. He’s living the good life, but lets keep supporting Arsenal, the focal point can’t be Adebayor be it positive or negative….
August 30, 2008 at 10:07
Seb –
yeah i feel Vela will get a Sackfull thats why i havent got rid of him yet.
but i just noticed i must keep him for today as i must get a new player in for STEVE-G as his injurd
August 30, 2008 at 10:08
what are you sending us Pedro?
August 30, 2008 at 10:08
Pedro I was right behing Eboue as he walked onto the pich and the was a lot of jeering. I dont like it and would ban anyone who boos or jeers a Gunner whatever he has done.
As for today I think & hope that Arsene has the sense to realise that Djourou has twice played with great assurance despite the habit ofllas to go walk about and leave the opposition clear runs through on goal. He must not play Kolo & WG together again if possible.
The toon are a much improved lot from the past 10 seasons. Hopefuly not yet good enough but they will be harder than before. I expect us to scrape a win 2-0 but it will be close.
As for the reast of this year…well as usual our pre season matches & training leave us with umpteen players injured or tired (poorlambs) so we again, as usual, have no idea how good AFC are until we can choose Eduardo ,Rosicky, and others.
Good luck lads and lay off the players who have offended.
August 30, 2008 at 10:15
morning people……….
are 5 hours of sleep adequate?
4-0 to the arse? pretty optimistic i would like to say.. i say 5-0.. TT hatrick!!!
August 30, 2008 at 10:16
Pedro,
Sorry mate. Can’t agree with you there. Give them a chance mate.
Denilson has only played about 10 full games for the 1st team. Sendy was part of the back 4 that broke the record for longest unbeaten run in CL. If he was substandard, Arsenal would have leaked goals all over the shop.
Eboue is a good player. Just yet to settle into a position.
August 30, 2008 at 10:17
Morning choy – i have your address, Pedro sent it ages ago, but numpty me didnt look in my spam – i will be posting it this week, ok to email you when its sent, and hopefully you can let me know when it has arrived safely?
August 30, 2008 at 10:17
We’re sending Gnarley a scarf in exchange for the England programme he kindly sent us from the world cup final in 2003 Evo.
The one that we beat Australia in when Johnny boy scored the dropkick and your PM sulked at the prizegiving.
Have I said to much already?
August 30, 2008 at 10:17
J1 – you are having us on, yes ??
August 30, 2008 at 10:18
Gunnar – that was a good read, but I’m left feeling cold again. Our manager is held up – by both the media and a section of gooners – as some shaman, a prescient mystic who has defied convention and forged his own path of blazing justice. The ‘plan’ is certainly worthy, but can it survive in the current climate of transfer madness and mad takeovers? We can debate the merits of the approach all season long, but in the final analysis we just sit and wait and worry whether the kids have the toughness to succeed. Like we have for some time.
One more signing would go a long way to getting more of the fans off Wenger’s back, and back on his side instead.
August 30, 2008 at 10:18
so any money on who is going to be injured after the internationals…. i hate internationals now…..
execpt world cup or euros
August 30, 2008 at 10:18
Skandibird thanks for your continued support, for the Footlocker mate that works with you I hope we get 5!
August 30, 2008 at 10:19
morning rico…..
sure that would be great… and once again… thank you so much
August 30, 2008 at 10:22
Hello
August 30, 2008 at 10:23
yeah way too much old son! i cried into my beer that night. cunts!
hhaha..only joking!
August 30, 2008 at 10:23
Further on the subject of the ‘plan’ – from today’s preview on arse.com:
“At the moment, we have to swim a bit against the stream as we get only negative vibes. But it’s a good test, we have to be strong enough to keep our belief even if everyone around our environment does not believe in us.”
So basically what AW is saying is that all of us who doubt the team, are providing them with a good test! Keep it up guys, we will reap the rewards come May!
August 30, 2008 at 10:23
Guys
August 30, 2008 at 10:23
I think the booing will continue for Ade. I say booing, I think it is more groans of dissapointment.
He gambled in the summer and lost out. And I dont think Wenger is helping his case, he should just shut up about it and let whatever will be will be. We are not stupid, we saw the press conference and saw his and his agents quotes that he failed to put right and distance himself from.
There is some precedence for his actions, if you remember Ian Wright, Vieira and even Henry were looking at leaving the club only to change their minds, yet their U-turns were applauded and cheered. They also did much of their business in private.
The other difference is those players were consistently good and to a man and women every Arsenal fan knew they had a world class player on their hands.
The problem with TT is that he thinks he is also a world class player, and whilst he has the potential to be one, the Arsenal fan base were split on their rating of him.
So now unless he can maintain top form and start scoring, I can only see the groans getting deeper. It appears from Wengers comments that maybe TT has said the fans are affecting his confidence and performance. He certainly believes that himself. Well TT you are the only one who can do something about that.
As for today, I think it will be quite tricky, Newcastle made some good signings over the summer although they are weakened with Milner going. I had a dream last night it was a draw
Finally how sad is it that we are already facing a must win game this early in the season
August 30, 2008 at 10:26
there is no way newcastle can win this game with the following – But Geremi, Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka, Damien Duff, Claudio Cacapa and Andy Carroll are all sidelined.
August 30, 2008 at 10:29
I think song will start alongside cesc fabregasssssssssss
And I hope that dj retains his place!
August 30, 2008 at 10:31
I would go with this today
Almunia
Sagna, Djourou, Gallas, Clichy
Theo, Cesc, Ramsey/Song, Nasri
RVP, TT
I just fear that despite being out of sorts, Toure and Denilson will play.
Still no transfers. He wont do it but I really wish he would spend the whole 30m on a few players.
I was thinking if Wenger had kept his promise and kept the team together and we still had Flamini and Hleb, and still brought in Nasri and Silvestre, I would actually be reassured now.
August 30, 2008 at 10:36
patthegooner,
we need a few players, preferably english – we should keep the players that we’ve got and rplace with an english spine -I think we should have signed woodgate, nolan, barry and milner… these guys would be more in tune with the fans and give us more bite on the pitch
August 30, 2008 at 10:36
why the hell is berbatov’s face on arse.com?
and this after fizman says we can spend 30m on a “striker”
I’m going paranoid ain’t I?
August 30, 2008 at 10:39
Evo
Don’t ask mate
Pedro
August 30, 2008 at 10:39
its just another tease Choyy
August 30, 2008 at 10:40
So the V-Bomber is sidelined
August 30, 2008 at 10:41
gnarley – u watching the hawks vs blues game?
August 30, 2008 at 10:43
Choy how come you’ve got 2 “y’s” now. & re Berbatov. If he plays @ The Gove, well, Spuds are a World Joke LOLx 50
August 30, 2008 at 10:44
Evo

August 30, 2008 at 11:20
records shit, but better then a video recorder though, does all sorts of neat things…bloody great machine. Means i can get up at a reasonable hour to watch the game. Still a month away though.
August 30, 2008 at 11:23
sorry to say ades goals haven’t dried up ..
i cant remember him scoring many since February …
did he have a pay rise since then ?
He should score tonight !!!.. theo on the right hand side run past 4 defenders to slot it
into the box still allowing ade to eat his marshmallows by the camp fire …
NOTE TO ADE :- please just stand left or right respectively of the goalie !
don’t stand in front of him again ! PLEASE
we all know what happens if you stand directly in front of the goalie .. yes you have an overwhelming feeling of trying to hit him in the chest with the ball ! Arsene did tell you to aim at the big hole behind the goalie ! ? didn’t he ? the one with a net ?
Also get inside that 6 yard box , you know how inaccurate you are once you kick the ball further than 6 yards ! so please stay inside the box at all costs …
August 30, 2008 at 11:25
oh yeah like hard drive recorder. TIVO was just released here in OZ. 10 years after the yanks first launched it!
August 30, 2008 at 11:25

August 30, 2008 at 11:27
yup raif.. 3 points is all that i want most..
don’t give a rat’s ass even if the ref scores!
August 30, 2008 at 11:31
haha Choyy. totally agree. i also want to see us win as im going to todays match, i hate going to matches were we either lose or draw, it makes the journey home miserable
August 30, 2008 at 11:33
feck thats great…. cheer the lads on raif…!!!
no booing please!! heheheh
August 30, 2008 at 11:33
the worse journey home after a lose was the FA cup final against the scouse wankers.
August 30, 2008 at 11:34
i was thinking of booing Ade but im not one to Boo our own. i will moan like a bitch tho if he misses loads of chances
August 30, 2008 at 11:34
ideally we win 4-0, but ill take 1-0 as well
August 30, 2008 at 11:39
yeah ill take a 1 – 0 aswell. tho i would say i would feel a little annoyed not wraping it up with a second. but idealy i hope the arsenal players in my dream team score.
August 30, 2008 at 11:41
Morning all!!
2-1 for me!
Any team news?
August 30, 2008 at 11:41
same squad as last game odub. no starters yet thou
August 30, 2008 at 11:45
Birmingham have been fined for charging unfair prices to away fans last season. They should pay every away fan double the difference of what their fair price should have been. For 30k they got off lightly, they earned more than that out of it.

August 30, 2008 at 11:49
I don’t trust Arsene Wenger like the way i don’t trust Tottenham but i trust Arsenal.
Arsenal & Newcastle
Almunia
Sagna-Djourou-Gallas-Clichy
Walcott-Eboue-Fabregas-Nasri
Adebayor-Persie
Arsenal 2 – Newcastle 0
August 30, 2008 at 11:49

August 30, 2008 at 12:02
ill watch out for guys on the tv, unless you have a spare ticket?
August 30, 2008 at 12:03
Thing is Finest
Those fans dont get that money back, it just goes to pay more FA expenses.
August 30, 2008 at 12:11
I can’t see us keeping a clean sheet, how often do we go behind at home,I have lost count, and the away keeper has his game of his life, but I remain positive RVP and Bedtner(as sub) to score 2-1
Just as a side line years ago there used to be a BBC programme called The Grove Family a prehistoric version of The Royale Family for the odd person who may be interested.
August 30, 2008 at 12:14
Question? I used to go to Highbury, given that it was a smaller stadium the crowd atmosphere was pretty good,is the emirates quieter or does it seem quieter as it is so much bigger. Our fans don’t appear to be the most vocal.
August 30, 2008 at 12:17
Arsenal Vs Sheff Utd
League Cup
August 30, 2008 at 12:22
we’ve played them quite a few times
August 30, 2008 at 12:24

The weather is amazing… some say the perfect conditions for drinking copious amounts of Peroni…
Predictions?
August 30, 2008 at 12:36
BREAKING NEWS
…………………..
Miguel Veloso to sign for Arsenal
August 30, 2008 at 12:38
Where did you read that???
August 30, 2008 at 12:40
I think Phobia is telling us what he’d like the breaking news to be!
August 30, 2008 at 12:40
Where did you see that story? The Guardian are running with Veloso to the spuds….and if the sell Berba I can well believe they are capable of splashing some cash to appease the fans…..we know Ramos isn’t afraid to open the wallet.
August 30, 2008 at 12:41
prediction – pedro and geoff to drink 15 peronis
August 30, 2008 at 12:41
each
August 30, 2008 at 12:42
Test
August 30, 2008 at 12:44
Why is Pedro not drinking?
August 30, 2008 at 12:44
I just sent you and e-mail kelsey
August 30, 2008 at 12:47
Geoff, Evo is talking big bottles I reckon…
August 30, 2008 at 12:48
That Pavlyuchenko can’t speak a word of english.. He’ll take about 6 months to settle, and he’s not a worker according to Charlie Nicholas. He was quoted saying he’d love to play in the premier league “Only at Chelsea or Arsenal”. Hahaha
August 30, 2008 at 12:50
great post geoff, as you can see i’m up early today
4-0 would be great and arsenal have never lost when i’ve been
(should have went to the fulham game)
August 30, 2008 at 12:50
Fair enough Pedro!
August 30, 2008 at 12:50
Thanks again Pedro,
so unusual to find a site where the editors are helpful and also interact with the bloggers.
August 30, 2008 at 12:51
im on the melbourne bitter at the moment, but 15 peronis would go down a treat
August 30, 2008 at 12:51
oh fuck lost cesc now
August 30, 2008 at 12:52
What do you mean kelsey?
August 30, 2008 at 12:56
Calm down,I am talking about my picture of cesc has vanished.
August 30, 2008 at 12:57
Melbourne bitter? Is that a beer or a state of mind? (eg after 2003 world cup, olympics, etc)
August 30, 2008 at 12:58
hahahah….what olympics?
August 30, 2008 at 12:58
kelsey – we cant see it
August 30, 2008 at 12:59
if this veloso geezah comes to arsenal; im giving back my season ticket what an absolute joke of a signing if this is true…..in wenger we dont trust anymore……
August 30, 2008 at 12:59
I can see it
August 30, 2008 at 13:00
Evo I know neither can I
August 30, 2008 at 13:00
bbk
right?
August 30, 2008 at 13:01
sorry you can see it i can’t oh well must be the gremlins
August 30, 2008 at 13:02
fucking magic bring on david copperfield
August 30, 2008 at 13:02
kelsey – We ‘CAN’ see your cesc pic, it looks like him after scoring the goal against milan right?
August 30, 2008 at 13:04
Listening to the SSN’s panel, interesting listening to Tommo – he reckons the ‘pool is run by unfit and proper people and they are borrow, borrow, borrow and getting the club in an absolute mess…. Good times ahead for them then…
Sad isnt it
August 30, 2008 at 13:05
i really hope its not veloso the guy is so overrated
August 30, 2008 at 13:06
I thought that many wanted him at THOF BBK??
August 30, 2008 at 13:08
thof rico????
August 30, 2008 at 13:15
why would veloso be a bad thing?
and THOF = the home of football/emirates
August 30, 2008 at 13:18
christ BBK is nothing good enough for you?
who would you permit AW to sign on your behalf then?
August 30, 2008 at 13:23
i believed for a split second that breaking news, and had a big smile…..
August 30, 2008 at 13:25
what arsenal lack is a presence in midfield not another dwarf wenger seems to keep wanting in the midfield i would go for obi mikel if the chance was there.i know it wont happen but someone like him yaya would be another one but that aint going to happen
August 30, 2008 at 13:29
we are also lacking some magic upfront berbatov would be the one to make that happen
August 30, 2008 at 13:31
i also feel we missed out on the signing of collochini he would of been a good signing not fucking silvest the cunts never out of the treatment room story of wenger and his signings so far
August 30, 2008 at 13:32
charlie nicholas – reckons that a midfielder will be in by the close of the transfer window – AND he thinks a striker……
Yep Henrik Larrrrrrrrsssssssonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn – maybe
August 30, 2008 at 13:33
Anyway – im off, catch up after the game –
Veloso rumour – well I hope its true
August 30, 2008 at 13:34
5ft 11 inch dwarf?
August 30, 2008 at 13:36
Well BBK is 6 foot 7 so..
August 30, 2008 at 13:36
we need 6 ft plus in the middle not a 5ft 11 inch dwarf………:o
August 30, 2008 at 13:38
veloso is not the player arsenal require hes not good enough.its probably not true so end of the matter…
August 30, 2008 at 13:38
berbatov and veloso… hahaha
August 30, 2008 at 13:40
BBK you really want berba,a spud reject, when you criticised wenger for gettin a manc reject?
August 30, 2008 at 13:41
yep get berba in
August 30, 2008 at 13:42
treze berba would be great…
an interesting read this one..
http://soccerlens.com/arsene-wenger-legacy-at-the-crossroads/10906/
August 30, 2008 at 13:43
We should beat spuds to Corluka. Hes only 22, prem proven and relatively cheap.
August 30, 2008 at 13:46
at least hes not always injured plus hes better then the greedy one
August 30, 2008 at 13:47
dont make me laugh corluka are you feeling alright lolllllllllllll
August 30, 2008 at 13:49
yeah berba would be great but i’m just a little shocked that people want a spud
August 30, 2008 at 13:50
would still prefer david villa myself though
August 30, 2008 at 13:50
Corluka is good BBK. Isn’t tonight the night for us transfer wise it is isn’t it. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got someone that’s had his name being said a few times, and another unkown, don’t know where he would play though.
August 30, 2008 at 13:52
well im stumped on that one CORLUKA are you sure joe……
August 30, 2008 at 13:54
What makes you think Corluka is bad?
August 30, 2008 at 13:54
would be nice if we get joao mutinho and veloso then just give denilson and diaby away
August 30, 2008 at 13:55
We’ve drawn Sheffield United in the Carling cup at home, good draw for us,
here’s the fixture list.
http://www.thestar.co.uk/blades/Sheffield-United-get-Arsenal-in.4443190.jp
August 30, 2008 at 13:55
for a start diaby is better then both of them put together fuck denilson and moutinho lollllllll
August 30, 2008 at 13:56
corluka so i suppose your going to tell me hes better then sagna next
August 30, 2008 at 13:57
Treze, I dunno why you want just Portugese players, what if the English supporters had the same attitude towards players, I say bring in whoever is best. Veloso would be good, not because he’s Portugese.
August 30, 2008 at 13:57
veloso i think is better than diaby and actually concentrates for a whole 90 mins, mutinho or denilson is a no brainer really
August 30, 2008 at 13:57
Treze, can you speak Portugese?
August 30, 2008 at 13:57
I suppose i’m not..
August 30, 2008 at 13:58
lol BBK, you don’t really like much players do you? haha
I don’t really think Veloso is the answer to be honest, I don’t really know who we could sign that would fit the blueprint. Cana is ok, but as much as he is aggressive, he is also not blessed with the best passing lol.
August 30, 2008 at 13:59
lol finest i dont just want portuguese players i’m joking half the time (not this time though) but one would be nice rui fonte might come through hopefully and bischoff doesn’t count
August 30, 2008 at 13:59
finest – not very well no
August 30, 2008 at 14:00
Isnt Corluka a RB
He is a good player but I can only see us getting one player if at all, so i would rather we concentrate on getting that CM sorted
August 30, 2008 at 14:01
In that case Treze, go to Portugal and ask them how Portugese they’d consider you, you will be called English, I guarantee it.
August 30, 2008 at 14:02
I agree pat, but what has the scouting network been doing over the summer.. They must have got a few targets for Wenger to go for.. I reckon a CM that’s name has been mentioned and an unkown which the scouts have found on a remote island off the shores of Australia.
August 30, 2008 at 14:04
lol calm down finest if someone asks me where im from i always say england. How would i ask them anyway i can’t speak it, in portugal hardly anyone there knows arsenal, signing a portuguese player would boost our profile there wouldn’t it?
August 30, 2008 at 14:09
I’m chilled bruv, you’re English mate, you have Portugese heritage, big difference….
It wouldn’t really because the Portugese Superliga is very well supported, Portugese people support Portugese teams in general, they might choose Arsenal as a second team.
I’m in Warsaw, do you think lots of Poles support Arsenal because Fabianski is on the team. They may well do now he’s Poland’s number 1, but I can tell you for a fact that 95% of Warsaw is Legia Warsaw, you see the black L graffiti’d all over the city…..and it will never change.
August 30, 2008 at 14:09
Corluka is brilliant. He can play all across the back and in midfield and he is a very good footballer.
August 30, 2008 at 14:13
Another excellent post Geoff. Totaly agree with the Ade booing comment, I think our point has been made and it’s time to move on.
I would also retain Johan, who has been our best centre half this year. Wenger does have a habit of bringing back his favourites, but this kid looks good and is powerfull! Not forgettig his distribution is also very good.
Lets hope we get a good performance coupled with a few goals to raise the confidence. This together with a good late centre midfield signing could turn our season around as easily as we thought it had fallen apart after last weekend.
It’s not too late!
August 30, 2008 at 14:15
i don’t mean a player like fabianski, in portugal ManUre and chavski are well supported at least as second teams for the BIG portuguese players they have or had. Mutinho is a fan favourite and if we were to get him alot of his fans would take notice of arsenal
August 30, 2008 at 14:24
You need to win lots of Champions League titles to get freign support in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America are better places to try and gain new fans since their football leagues are still developing and they don’t often have a chance to see star quality football there.
When Arsenal were playing against Milan, Manyoo were playing Lyon on the same evening.
The bar was packed with Manyoos, there was only me and 1 other gooner supporting Arsenal, and a few murmuring Italians supporting Milan……it’s nigh on impossible to break Manyoos monopoly…..until Arsenal become a force in Europe they will not really gain many new European fans, European fans tend to stick to their local teams or a big team in their league……just the way it is. Arsenal were never going to attract huge support from Germany because Lehmann was playing, neither will there ever be massive Spanish support because Fabregas plays for Arsenal, nor was there when Pires did, Manyoo are the only club that can gain support by signing players such as Park Ji Sung to gain support, we are just not in that position. Arsenal has enough support already, anyone who is looking for good football and a good team to support will naturally come along, if they were born to be a gooner, they’ll find their way at some point.
August 30, 2008 at 14:29
I don’t know about anyone else but I’m hoping we resurrect a move for Mark Milligan. One to whet the appetite…or not.
August 30, 2008 at 14:30
completely agree mate it doesn’t matter though really we won’t be getting a star player from any country probably i rate mutinho personally but i also like cana, villa, aguero, matias fernandez and many others none of those are portuguese mutinho was just the first name to come to mind and veloso being the closest thing to realistic we can get, i wouldn’t mind if we never buy a portuguese player to be honest but it would be nice to have players recognised from places other than france
August 30, 2008 at 14:34
I don’t care if he’s from Timbuktu, Hong Kong, San Marino or wherever as long as he is a top quality player.
August 30, 2008 at 14:34
Arsenal 10/1 to win Premiership with ladbrokes. Get on before we do Newcastle.
We’re gonna win the league, we’re gonna win the league.
August 30, 2008 at 14:36
lol nice debating with you finest i have to go and get ready for the match now see you all later
August 30, 2008 at 14:37
Oh no, not Ladbrokes
They’ve beaten the market price, 9/1 on Betfair…..
August 30, 2008 at 14:42
Chandler are 10/1 as well…..
Yup the market and the bookies are not in agreement,….markets just reacted…odds on Arsenal have lengthened.
August 30, 2008 at 14:44
ladbrokes always seem to give attractive odds on Arsenal. Hmm, maybe they don’t rate us.
August 30, 2008 at 14:44
It’s not bad actually, Chelsea at evens to hedge would be the best proposition at 10/1.
August 30, 2008 at 14:45
I don’t really fancy it Goonerman, good luck, I prefer singles, take the home win for Newcastle today to recover your title bet.
August 30, 2008 at 14:46
Finest
There are still a lot of japanese fans from when we had Inamoto. My brother in law is a japanese gooner. They show all the Celtic games because of Nakamura.
August 30, 2008 at 14:48
1.66 for us to win our group, 1.14 to qualify, the qualifying bet is a banker.
August 30, 2008 at 14:50
CL that is.
Yup but Asia is a different kettle of fish to Europe goonermichael…….the EPL is massive out there, trying to get fans in European footballing nations is much more difficult.
And good to know there’s support for Arsenal in Japan.
August 30, 2008 at 14:51
Are you going to Arsenal v Tottenham goonermichael? 29 oct Wednesday evening?
August 30, 2008 at 14:54
I haven’t got a ticket because I’m a red member. But it’s on a Wednesday so I’ll try. Have you got a season ticket? Treze did you get your ticket yet?
August 30, 2008 at 14:55
Interesting bet CL.
Porto 33s with ladbrokes but 169/1 with betfair. Worth laying off after they qualify knockout stages.
August 30, 2008 at 14:55
I’m going to Japan in November and I have to take as much Arsenal merchandise as possible.
August 30, 2008 at 14:56
When I went to Japan during the world cup I bought 3 inamoto Japan shirts and we sold him the next day.
August 30, 2008 at 14:59
Wenger is still well known over there from his nagoya days. He was on tv during the world cup in 2002 all the time and his book was 2nd best seller to the beckam book
August 30, 2008 at 14:59
Goonermichael, they’re available to red members, I’m going to try and buy one on Monday, if so I’ll be needing a haircut before the game, so i wanted to make a reservation early.
August 30, 2008 at 15:01
The tickets are going on sale on 29th of September and they’ll go really quick . Wednesday is my day off btw (if we both get tickets I’ll meet you first and cut your hair though!)
August 30, 2008 at 15:02
Off to the game in the sunshine. Bye all.
August 30, 2008 at 15:03
Enjoy our 4 nil win goonerman
August 30, 2008 at 15:04
Nice one….oh only 29th September, well i’m gonna gamble, book a flight for the Tottenham game (I checked and there is a great deal available which I’ll miss if I don’t book now)and i’ll get on the website as soon as tickets are released, i thought they were already on sale.
August 30, 2008 at 15:04
yippee. Ain’t it exciting.
August 30, 2008 at 15:15
buy someone from china or india…
play them in tiny tos cup
assured following of…mmm..say 2 billion people ..lol
August 30, 2008 at 15:16
Hi Finest, you may well know that Malaga are in the Liga again this season, they yo yo about a bit and ramos was there manager for a couple of years.Thay are our local team yet 90% of spanish here support Real Madrid which is about 5/6 hours away by car. When I say support I mean have an allegiance to them, while 12000 ex pats get a season ticket to follow Malaga, most support Liverpool and the mancs with a few supporting us and chelsea.A seaon ticket costs about 300 euros, yet a game against real or barca can cost 500 euros.
August 30, 2008 at 15:18
I just bought a junior gunner ticket for the spuds game. Do you think I’ll get away with it. I’m only 50!
August 30, 2008 at 15:40
well i dunno about milligan, he needs 2 more socceroo matches to get a uk work permit, so dunno if we can get him, but more importantly i dunno if he is even good or not?
August 30, 2008 at 16:05
If Milligan was that good then why would he be still in the Aussie league. Don’t know the leagues strength but the prem is a massive step-up, even for the best of players
August 30, 2008 at 16:21
Tough test tonight .
a semi – in form Newcastle with an experienced line up ..
All the bookies and pundits are on our side ..
makes me feel confident .. but i thought fulham was a walk in the park too !
I hope Le boss is a bit more clued up on his game plan tonight ..
use your sub’s well and dont wait too long with what ever striker arrangement
your using IF its not working .. Switch it up get a partnership working !
2-1 would be a fair result .. but 3 points in the bag is what is needed ..
predictable wenger will go for ade and RVP .. failing that Ade and nikB
retarded and stupid .. but to be anticipated ..
Is vela fit ?
he would be good for a start imo ! RVP +vela imo !
and a jack sub for cesc once the game is safe !
I hate to see good players on the bench like jack at the cost of eboue or even denilson ! If you believe in your youth wenger bring on the best players …
August 30, 2008 at 16:31
wenger needs to experiment .. and he now has to do it during the EPL season .
cesc was out for 99% of the pre-season and lack of personnel and some big gaps to fill give him heaps of work to do ASAP , he is forced to do it imo !
( so don’t be afraid to make changes)
So stop riding the RVP ade partnership it clearly isnt working like the toure gallas partnership isnt !
yes they might both be your best players on paper , but if they play like shite together
it will avail you nothing !
Im sure we will see eboue or toure in the center of the park .. wenger is obsessed by eboue , and trying to make him fit in there ! !
at all costs !
August 30, 2008 at 16:33
hoyte o.g. middlesborough1 stoke 1
August 30, 2008 at 16:34
Justin Hoyte just scored an own goal to make it 1-1 at Boro vs Stoke
August 30, 2008 at 16:43
Apparently it wasnt his fault though, he got pushed into the goal
August 30, 2008 at 16:48
walcott out eboue in otherwise as wednesday rvp/ade
August 30, 2008 at 16:49
lineups anyone?
August 30, 2008 at 16:54
Almunia
Sagna, Favorite Toure, Gallas, Clichy
Fav Eboue, Cesc, Denilson, Nasri
TT, RVP
All I can say is poor old Djourou and the fact that both Denilson and Eboue start means we still need two players before the deadline
August 30, 2008 at 16:56
Almunia
Sagna, johan Toure, Clichy
Eboue, Cesc, Denilson, Nasri
CUNT , RVP
August 30, 2008 at 17:01
that was wengers pick ..
my pick
FAB2
Sagna, johan ,Toure, Clichy
Denilson
Cesc, jack, Nasri
Nik B , RVP
August 30, 2008 at 17:01
Newcastle
Given,
Beye, Enrqiue, Taylor, Coloccini,
Guthrie, Butt, Gutierrez, N’Zogbia,
Owen, Ameobi
August 30, 2008 at 17:02
Djourou is on the Bench Ethan,
August 30, 2008 at 17:02
kelsey
i thought gallas was out with a knee injury ??????
August 30, 2008 at 17:03
So did I, but just saw the teams on Setanta
August 30, 2008 at 17:03
The gradual return of Arsenal’s injured players will help them pass the examination. Cesc Fabregas played his first competitive game of the season in midweek and came through with no ill-effects. They same cannot be said of William Gallas (knee), Theo Walcott (knee) and Samir Nasri (sickness).
August 30, 2008 at 17:07
is vela still out . ?
i think he needs to play if he can stand up !
we really need some differing options up front !
its going to kill us again tonight !
especially with eboue/denilson in our midfield !
the creativity will not feed the strikers again ..
and our strikers haven’t got the class to create by themselves !
August 30, 2008 at 17:08
vela is on the bench
August 30, 2008 at 17:12
fucking eboue in and walcott just when he’s getting a bit of confidence gets dropped.Who wants a bet eboue gets booked
August 30, 2008 at 17:12
Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle
August 30, 2008 at 17:13
id like to see vela RVP start !
we need to inject some new blood upfront ..
use ade as the Plan B !
he seems to be a bit more constructive if introduced
after the 1st half !
we need fluid movement from the start of the game ..
and most important of all we need to take them chances early !
and get a lead !!!
August 30, 2008 at 17:14
Walcott is on the bench with Djourou, so the message is play shit Kolo, Denilson and Eboue, you’re in – play well, Theo and Djourou, you’re benched.
And the moral of the story is…Arsene knows. Oh shit.
August 30, 2008 at 17:16
i think eboue will simulate before the 90 minutes is up !
he rolled around like a cat splat last week !
i thought good he’s really injured …fucked off !
within 30 seconds hes on his feet and back in the game !
woeful display of cheating , he needs a golden globe nomination !!
August 30, 2008 at 17:17
Any good quality links for the game, my cousin doesn’t have setanta anymore (smh)
August 30, 2008 at 17:18
still awake, go gooners!
August 30, 2008 at 17:19
Well said Geoff
You gotta feel for Djourou.
August 30, 2008 at 17:19
, Senderos said: ‘From the first moment it was clear to me Milan are really a top-class club, more than Arsenal. I hope to do well and to stay here for a long time’
I hope you stay forever you ungrateful, disrespectful cunt.
August 30, 2008 at 17:20
What a disappointing team. I can only think that AW fears Owens pace, and thinks Kolo is quicker than JD.
And Eboue? Again? The man is not a DM, never will be (at least not in my opinion)
I assume Theo has a knock.
Watch out for the Toons new boys, esp Gutierez (?). He looks a player.
August 30, 2008 at 17:20
to all the wankers who come on here and sledge theo !
just see what you get for playing a good solid game last time out !
this is how wenger repays theo ?
good game cunt … we cant have you upstaging eboue !
and scoring a goal ! your benched !
PLAY YOUR BEST 11 wenger !!!!!!!!!!
its not rocket science ! this IMO is the biggest test to date !
i could be wrong but newcastle are not the same team as last season !
August 30, 2008 at 17:21
Geoff, Aren’t you at the game?
August 30, 2008 at 17:22
wot you mean BR denilson is DM !
eboue is RW !
August 30, 2008 at 17:23
I have PMT (Pre Match Tension).
Think this could be a rocky ride.
Come on you rip-roaring Gunners
August 30, 2008 at 17:23

August 30, 2008 at 17:24
What the fuck is going on?? So, AW doesn’t want players who will hold back the progression of the younger players, so what does he do, he drops Theo & JD for Eboue & Kolo………………….fucking amazing, the younger players play well and get droped for he next game…………..seriously getting fucked off with almost every thing AW does and just as importantly doesn’t do in strengthening the first team, the blokes living in cloud cuckoo land………
August 30, 2008 at 17:25
Haven’t seen the team Ethan. Just that EE, Kolo and Ade are back.
Completely forgot about Denilson … which in a way says much about the boy.
August 30, 2008 at 17:26
Spider man ?????
August 30, 2008 at 17:26

August 30, 2008 at 17:35

August 30, 2008 at 17:38

August 30, 2008 at 17:40
Come on Ade, that was an easy chance
August 30, 2008 at 17:41
80k per week for a useless cunt………
August 30, 2008 at 17:43
I don’t think Eboue and Denilson earn that much!
August 30, 2008 at 17:43
I think that pass Denilson just did shows that we need a new CM
August 30, 2008 at 17:44
Ha ha ha lol Geoff, i would pay Eboue 80 pence……..
August 30, 2008 at 17:45
You obviously have more money than me then Dennis!

August 30, 2008 at 17:52
Cor, great pen, felt a bit wobbly with RvP stepping up!! Strange TT didn’t step up eh guys!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 17:52
RVP as easy as ABC
August 30, 2008 at 17:52
I know Robin scored but Ade started the move when he brought it out of defence I think.
August 30, 2008 at 17:53
Robin Van Persie!!!!!
We should have had a penalty earlier…should be 2-0 up.
August 30, 2008 at 17:53
Now that just about sums up Eboue, fucking talentless…….
August 30, 2008 at 17:54
Dennis, the one who earns it never takes it, that goes way back to the Henry days.
August 30, 2008 at 17:54
one doesnt like to blow ones own trumpet but i did post on here yeaterday that RVP would score today, Mystic Pierre is never wrong!
August 30, 2008 at 17:55

August 30, 2008 at 18:17
Geoff.. I think 4- 0 now sounds like a good prediction.
August 30, 2008 at 18:19
i knew RvP would come alive after he found the net once
on a hattrick
August 30, 2008 at 18:19
the boys are on steroids!!!! eboue backheel… omg

August 30, 2008 at 18:20

August 30, 2008 at 18:21
Nice one Eboue…..keep it up!
August 30, 2008 at 18:21
I have TT.. cunt better score 5 in the next half!!!
August 30, 2008 at 18:22
4 nil Joe it could be more! At least this team looks to kill teams off, with Rosickky back in midfield with a world class alternative, we may have enough.
Denilson is not it and Eboue is the one swallow etc, but still good cover at right back.
August 30, 2008 at 18:22
I put Djourou as a starter and my sub defender got a clean sheet, better not put him on at the end for 2 mins….
August 30, 2008 at 18:22
What about Eboue. Is the back heel his signature move nowadays? Chamone
August 30, 2008 at 18:22
we are on fireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
August 30, 2008 at 18:23
I said this morning RVP would come good, good alround performance, got out of the traps well only downside for me is denilson, passing woeful and can’t tackle
August 30, 2008 at 18:23
i think we are practising a lot of backheels these days!!!!!
awesome stuff cmon boys.. lets bury this game!!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 18:24
Yeah, wizzing about Arsenal style….this is Arsenal football….we can win the title playing like that….beat Chelsea….4 real..
August 30, 2008 at 18:24
thank fuck we got that 2nd one. i only mentioned the other day that eboue is loving the trick plays this year!
August 30, 2008 at 18:24
should be 4-0 so far
August 30, 2008 at 18:25
I told ye doubters RVP is quality, this is the beginning of the beginning!
August 30, 2008 at 18:25
This is us at our best.. Get a decent DM and we’ll be flying..
August 30, 2008 at 18:25
oh god just seen everton’s result…. thankyou lescott -.-
August 30, 2008 at 18:25
TT needs to take his chances…
August 30, 2008 at 18:26
good work eboue! he just needs to stop actin like a kid the other times…
ie falling over, gettin pyscho
August 30, 2008 at 18:26
Its better
Finally RVP, only problem now is that he is a banker to get an injury in the next 7 days now he is scoring again
TT been working hard but I really do get pissed off with him when he offside from an Almunia punt up field.
Great assist by Eboue. whenever someone else gets in that position I scream shoot, when it is eboue I shout pass.
Still think we should be creating more though, we should be putting 6 or 7 past a Newcastle team playing this poorly
August 30, 2008 at 18:26
hoyte scored an own goal for stoke. gold
August 30, 2008 at 18:26
oh and kolo looks leaner and fitter and guess whose bottom of the league
August 30, 2008 at 18:27
Finest
I’ve got RVP in my Fantasy Grove, Hat trick anyone
August 30, 2008 at 18:28
Holy shit on a stick, can you imagine how awesome we could be if we had a proper powerful DM next to Fab4 instead of Denilson…….
August 30, 2008 at 18:28
Kolo looks like ernie off sesame street with that hairstyle
August 30, 2008 at 18:30
looks like djorou is really pressuring toure for the spot….
more of the same… nasri and TT to score… need to get fantasy grove points too!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 18:30
Alonso is coming(not literally)
August 30, 2008 at 18:31
kelsey
RVP has always been a class player .. just far better movement down the left wing with nasri and clichy … if we had Vela on with RVP we might see RVP get more! and theo on the right …
Lets hope we dont go to sleep in the 2nd half ! id like to see AFC bury them now ! finally put a game beyond doubt so we can sub in jack or ramsey ..
give a few others a run !
and if your going to sub off a striker it must be ade !
(but you know it will be RVP ! )
wenger !
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
August 30, 2008 at 18:32
Worth getting up for….3 more please.
August 30, 2008 at 18:32
cheer up pat,we are improving just get that cheque book out boss and buy alonso and one other.
August 30, 2008 at 18:32
we just need bergkamp to come off the bench now and score another wonder goal!
August 30, 2008 at 18:33
What happened to the Wallabies lads? Hate watching the boks win.
August 30, 2008 at 18:33
Tottenham in the 20th position!!!
August 30, 2008 at 18:33
How good is it having Cesc back, people gets outa line and he sorts that shite out. 2 beauty goals from RvP!. the flowing football is absolutly sublime, what a game to watch, we are back baby! haha and toure does look like Ernie, does that mean gallas is Bert?
August 30, 2008 at 18:34
Hey I am happy kelsey
it is a 200% improvement on Fulham
Lets start on that goal difference though
August 30, 2008 at 18:34
ethangunner agreed rvp is a class player this will do him a world of confidence,i think theo might come on not vela, anyway another couple of goals and maybe bedtner will get twenty minutes for rvp
August 30, 2008 at 18:35

August 30, 2008 at 18:38
RVP out for another 3months I take it….
August 30, 2008 at 18:38
rvp down… here we fucking go
August 30, 2008 at 18:39
Le Grove have never doubted Robin, never, nor the ability of Ade, but with Eboue and Denilson in the midfield we’ll never beat the stronger sides, we need two midfielders, a fit Rosicky is one, maybe Alonso, Cana, Velosa, Barry, De La Red, Toulalon could be the other.
RVP will be fine, dirty cunt that Butt. How is that fat bastard Ashley allowed to drink at the Emirates in view of the pitch, another set of rules for them eh?
August 30, 2008 at 18:39
no don’t worry
August 30, 2008 at 18:41
jonas gutierez is a good player….
good buy for newcastle
but i hate niky butt
August 30, 2008 at 18:42
haha Shay Given, you naughty lil bastard!
August 30, 2008 at 18:42
Given, you nose ache.
August 30, 2008 at 18:44
it’s all getting a bit 1980, people sliding in all over the place
August 30, 2008 at 18:44
Oh cock! I’ve got Lescott in my Fantasy Footie team too!!!
August 30, 2008 at 18:44
eboue not playing bad actually, needs to improve decision making… he has good potential…very direct and good energy…. but decision making is crap
August 30, 2008 at 18:44
We’re playing really nice stuff
August 30, 2008 at 18:45
Seb, I’ve always wondered.. Who is that in your avatar?

August 30, 2008 at 18:53

August 30, 2008 at 18:53
Fucking hell!!!
August 30, 2008 at 18:53
My fucking stream is off. Was it a good goal?
August 30, 2008 at 18:53
Why is the bloke so injury prone?
August 30, 2008 at 18:54
AAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH
See RVP starts scoring and then gets injured. Poor bloke
August 30, 2008 at 18:54
Ade is playing a brilliant game. Just needs a goal to wrap it up.
Good luck Vela
August 30, 2008 at 18:54
Here we go……………another 3 months off……..
August 30, 2008 at 18:54
How predictable of Robin to get injured.
Any way, hope Vela does well now, come one Carlos!!
August 30, 2008 at 18:54
vela gets some minutes, great news
August 30, 2008 at 18:55
So, it’ll be another ‘precautionary’ substitution, only for him not to play for the next 15-30 games!
August 30, 2008 at 18:56
I bet he’s severely pissed off now.. It’s not his fault and it can’t really be helped; he’s injury prone.
August 30, 2008 at 18:58
Yes Song not Djourou:)
August 30, 2008 at 18:59
RVP shot with his left foot but its his right foot watching on tv but lee dixon said on the radio it could be nasty injury
August 30, 2008 at 18:59
I’d like to draw attention to Pedro’s comments that Denilson is a substandard player.
August 30, 2008 at 18:59
brilliant by toure, that is his one strength, he can get back to stop anyone
August 30, 2008 at 19:00
Denilson’s best game so far
August 30, 2008 at 19:00
so any bets how long rvp is going to be out for??
3 months
August 30, 2008 at 19:00
Oh for Denilson….all good, but not Djourou for 2 mins….please!
August 30, 2008 at 19:00
Get in there Clichy.
We are taking the piss…..
August 30, 2008 at 19:00
Clichy doesn’t have a bad shot you know, considering he’s never scored for us before.
August 30, 2008 at 19:01
Jules, one goal does not maketh the man.
By all accounts he had a poor first half; if a goal helps him to pick up his performances, then brilliant.
August 30, 2008 at 19:01
I feel a Le Grove sweepstake coming on…………..
August 30, 2008 at 19:01
agreed seb
August 30, 2008 at 19:02
It’s gone to EE’s head Take him off while he is ahead !
August 30, 2008 at 19:02
Theo Theo Theo
August 30, 2008 at 19:02
Seb,
10 full team appearances or thereabouts don’t maketh the man either.
August 30, 2008 at 19:02
come on any sweep stakes
for RVP
its a shame…. he injured again….
arsene should really considr another forward now
August 30, 2008 at 19:03
Yeah put Theo on!
August 30, 2008 at 19:03
Thanks AW
August 30, 2008 at 19:05
Eboue… a resounding applause….or is it?
August 30, 2008 at 19:05
We’re back to playing like Arsenal!
August 30, 2008 at 19:05
C’mon u guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunersssssssssssssssssssssss!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:05
It’s incredible what a difference Cesc makes to this team. Just being on the pitch lifts the other players
August 30, 2008 at 19:05
i really want carlos vela to score and theo
August 30, 2008 at 19:05
bastard what a save
August 30, 2008 at 19:06

August 30, 2008 at 19:06
patrick vieira is back!!!!!!

August 30, 2008 at 19:06
I agree this is the Arsenal we love, both 2 players and we’ll win the lot, don’t at our peril.
August 30, 2008 at 19:07
Paddy!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:08
Viera Oooooooooooo!!
He’s sitted next to potato head(Silvestre)
August 30, 2008 at 19:08
Song is ten times the DM that Denilson is – you can see he understands defending, Denilson doesn’t. I’m just saying Denilson is a Cescalike, not a DM.
PV4 at the game!! we could do with you paddy
August 30, 2008 at 19:08
Surely not… Paddy?
August 30, 2008 at 19:08
“That goal was just scary! Even without Hleb, Flamini and Gilberto gone, they continue to play like absolute machines. Is Wenger an alien? Surely he must be. Season after season, Arsenal thrill us. Even as a Liverpool fan I just want to say thank you to Wenger for showing us the beauty of the modern game.”
redwarrior88 on 606
August 30, 2008 at 19:09
wenger does love suprises

August 30, 2008 at 19:12
oh kolo why do you even bother
August 30, 2008 at 19:13
i think carlos vela is good enough… speed and direct
August 30, 2008 at 19:13
This should be 10! and another player that can take free kicks, deep joy!
August 30, 2008 at 19:13
Last time we see RVP this year! Our squad is getting smaller and smaller Arsene!
When will you Listen!!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:13
Brilliant free kick from Nasri…..we have 3 excellent set piece takers.
August 30, 2008 at 19:13
i tell you what, ade deserves his song today, he has worked his nuts off to score
August 30, 2008 at 19:14
Wow, Nazri does know how to take em..!
August 30, 2008 at 19:14
i tell you what, ade deserves his song today, he has worked his nuts off to score
August 30, 2008 at 19:14
Has anyone noticed Cesc is having the freedom that he wouldn’t usually have with Song behind him. We’re playing 4-1-2-1-2.
August 30, 2008 at 19:14
oops doubler
August 30, 2008 at 19:15
yes Joe I agree, Cesc was having to put tackles in when Denilson was playing, now he can do what Cesc does best
August 30, 2008 at 19:17
Theo you bellend
August 30, 2008 at 19:17
Seb I amended your first one, I knew what you meant
August 30, 2008 at 19:18
Jesus!
August 30, 2008 at 19:18
Hang on.. isn’t it 3-0 three times on the trot at home against Newcastle..
August 30, 2008 at 19:19
He missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:19
Walcott never looked like scoring there, hardly surprising really when he’s been fucking dropped……….
August 30, 2008 at 19:19
Joey Barton!! Who saw Mike Ashley’s face!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:20
This has been a truly awesome performance.
August 30, 2008 at 19:20
we should get some good headlines tomorrow
let’s hope we can maintain this form though, we don’t want to yoyo from good to bad to good etc
August 30, 2008 at 19:21
This shames football………..
August 30, 2008 at 19:21
I saw the fat bastard drinking a pint, where I sit we can’t even get them near the window. He’s as big a law breaker as that wanker Barton.
August 30, 2008 at 19:21
Too many passes spoil the chance…Walcott should have shot
Oh oh…the jailbird is on!
August 30, 2008 at 19:21
Nasri just tripped him up big time, hahahahaha!
August 30, 2008 at 19:21

August 30, 2008 at 19:22
English footballers at their fucking best…….
August 30, 2008 at 19:22
Fuck me Barton is a total dickhead. He should not be allowed on a football field.
I would be ashamed to be a Newcie fan with him on the pitch
August 30, 2008 at 19:23
Fucking cunt Barton!!!!!!!!!!!1
August 30, 2008 at 19:23
Nice Samir!! but i fear a keane/haaland moment…
August 30, 2008 at 19:23
Job done, catch you all later Grovers.
August 30, 2008 at 19:23
Barton looks like a twisted sob
August 30, 2008 at 19:23
HAHA nice one Nasri!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:23
nasri, u da man
August 30, 2008 at 19:23
Barton is a cunt!
August 30, 2008 at 19:24
well done boys.
Bloody fantastic
August 30, 2008 at 19:24
Fucking insane, cunting ref lets Barton’s lunge go unpunished and now books Nasri for a harmless trip, cunt Styles.
August 30, 2008 at 19:24
ahh shame he didnt get away with it lol
August 30, 2008 at 19:25
I hope Wenger gives Barton a rollocking in the tunnel!
August 30, 2008 at 19:26

August 30, 2008 at 19:26

Adios people!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:26
joey barton is a fucking thug!
August 30, 2008 at 19:27
rvp has done knee in and could be out all season!!!!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:27
Can’t wait for Keegan’s post-match interview, knowing him he will be ejaculating all over the microphone as he describes our football today – he is nothing if not honest
August 30, 2008 at 19:27
the kev keegan has the ordasity to have a go at nasri 4 getting him back? what a wanker!
August 30, 2008 at 19:28
This is interseting, apparently PV4, was in the stands today.
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/football/premier-league/2008-2009/arsenal-newcastle-236621.html
August 30, 2008 at 19:28
Is Vieira Injured?
Inter are playing tonight, maybe he is coming back
Tell you what he might not be as good as he was but he is still better than the other options
Go on Wenger get him back
August 30, 2008 at 19:28
He should be kicked out of football, Wenger looked pissed at what happened, bring it up in the press conference…..Keegan bringing his dirty nasty piece of dirt to rough up Arsenal, can’t take it that his muppets can’t play football…..Keegan out, Barton out!
August 30, 2008 at 19:29
cant see inter releassng him tho
August 30, 2008 at 19:29
Vieira the new signing. Its got to be
August 30, 2008 at 19:29
if RVP is out for a while, it is time for Villa and Vieira on a loan
August 30, 2008 at 19:30
see he saw the clean cut white boy in nasi an figured he was in jail again that homo!
August 30, 2008 at 19:30
Please be joking about RVP.
August 30, 2008 at 19:30
Bit of hollywood footie today.King kev on ashby’s back cunt, barton bigger cunt, why bring him on for 90 seconds.
Biggest thing for me was our all round fitness and sharpness was up by 100%.Still overplayed a bit.Given would have been a good buy for 3 million.
Like cesc waving to the crowd before he took a corner
Vela looks okay but completely left footed
No real man of the match for me there were too many contenders
August 30, 2008 at 19:31
that better not be true about van persie
August 30, 2008 at 19:31
Barton looked like an ass as he stumbled to the ground. Go and have a Brown Ale you pathetic little wimp. Gutless turd.
August 30, 2008 at 19:31
vela is good… better than theo?
probably so….
great game.. TT did not score.. there goes my fantasy team!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:31
It won’t be Vieira. Wenger’s not that stupid.
Vieira is physically shot.
August 30, 2008 at 19:31
the funny thing is that he got nutmegged by clichy from about 12 yards away
August 30, 2008 at 19:32
Keegan had a go at Nasri after the match. Prick. Barton could have broken his leg.
August 30, 2008 at 19:33
nasri nasri
man with balls
August 30, 2008 at 19:33
Gallas was defending nasri tho, u dont mess with that cunt
August 30, 2008 at 19:33
RVP was precautionary. The game was won.
August 30, 2008 at 19:34
Van Persie is having treatent now.. So that kid up there doesn’t know anything. Also how would it be his knee when he started taking his boot off when he was hobbling with Colin Lewin.
August 30, 2008 at 19:34
what did keegan say to nasri and gallas?
August 30, 2008 at 19:34
Keegan is a disgrace for keeping Barton….what a shit manager, deserved to be beaten 3-0, should have been 6-0 , penalty not given, Theo and Adebayor’s misses………..
“I’ve got such a good team…………proper bo selecta” says Keegan.
August 30, 2008 at 19:34
I think Keegan was a bit pissed off over everything and wanted to let some steam off over a little trip on teh twat thatis Barton.
August 30, 2008 at 19:34
about him getting barton back fro that horrible tackle, nasri clipped barton on the way past
August 30, 2008 at 19:35
Joe Todd. I know but this is RVP we’re talking about
August 30, 2008 at 19:36
hleb would have never done something like that…nasri is king!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:36
Vieira won the Serie A last year, & he could win the PL this year. God i hope he is there to sign.
August 30, 2008 at 19:36
hleb would of rolled around screaming whilst complaining about the noise in london
August 30, 2008 at 19:36
How did Barton pass his CRB check……………..why are there no CRB checks for Premier League teams for GBH…..how did he only have a holiday stretch for GBH??
August 30, 2008 at 19:36
I’ve just seen the shot where he got the injury from again.. It looks liek his knee so I’m not sure… We’ll have to wait for the post match interview/press conference.
August 30, 2008 at 19:36
RvP…knee?
pray it’s not true
if it is, let’s sell him…
August 30, 2008 at 19:37
lol… yeh i saw the trip, it was class…
August 30, 2008 at 19:38
Nasri will get fucked over by Barton in the return game. I felt like if I’d been there I would have pitch invaded to chin that scouse fucker.
August 30, 2008 at 19:38
its not his knee its his foot the commentator was saying
August 30, 2008 at 19:38
fuck me rvp wtf?
August 30, 2008 at 19:39
RVP is such a clumsy big thing. Everytime he takes a shot he gets his legs tangled into between someone else’s. The golf swing technique of his doesn’t help.
August 30, 2008 at 19:39
I’ll ask Barton to his face how hard he thinks he is…no problem…..
August 30, 2008 at 19:39
doesnt help when u have nicky butt stomping your ankle paulinho
August 30, 2008 at 19:40
finest cuts, be careful he mite try to have prison sex with you
August 30, 2008 at 19:41
Ferguson taught him that, just like he taught Paul Scholes how to tackle…
August 30, 2008 at 19:41
he’ll probably beat u up finest… then get arrested
August 30, 2008 at 19:41
ooh prison sex
August 30, 2008 at 19:41
Vieira is injured,
He has a groin injury.
forgot to mention, I thought Nasri was awesome today, great tracking back and attacking ability.
Come on Arsene get those two players in and we could be going places.
And fair play Eboue was ok today (Did I just say that?)
August 30, 2008 at 19:42
That wouldn’t be a wise move Rob, I’d stop him in his tracks.
August 30, 2008 at 19:42
u kno how that is, not pretty from what ive heard
August 30, 2008 at 19:42
did anybody get to see the post match interview yet.
August 30, 2008 at 19:42
nah id back u all the way! but it is barton so u have to be carfeul when u walk away finest
August 30, 2008 at 19:42
No way GG(9 Paddy was the King. and I cannot see him in the team supporting Fab, and being told what to do by WG.
Plus, Paddy’s legs have gone. I have seen him a number of times last season for Inter, and he is just not the player he was.
Having said that, he is still better than what we have, and if AW is looking for stop gaps, then PV4 would be a positive. But I hope not, I want to remeber PV in his pomp.
August 30, 2008 at 19:45
agree pat.. nasri is like a manlier hleb….the fucker is everywhere.. defending… attacking.. free kicking… barton tripping… i love that guy..!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:45
lol, choyy
August 30, 2008 at 19:46
Well we won 3-0, thats the main thing, Joey “brown love” Barton isn’t gonna ruin it…..did you see how good we were today……we can win the Premier League!
August 30, 2008 at 19:46
so funny seeing spuds 20th
August 30, 2008 at 19:47

August 30, 2008 at 19:48
Nope.. It’s guna happen soonish and I’ll take notes for you lot..
August 30, 2008 at 19:48
yeah and ramos should only last about ohh 2more games then goooone
August 30, 2008 at 19:48
finest.. the thing is that we can do it.. .but we need everybody to stay fit… great great game.. made my weekend!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 19:48
david pleat back as spurs manager, then he signs gary doherty and maybe barton as the shower boy
August 30, 2008 at 19:49
I don’t think there is guna be one.. They had Keegan but not Wenger.
August 30, 2008 at 19:50
Does Nasri have a song yet?
August 30, 2008 at 19:52
KK is a fucking disgrace. What are the odds of him getting sacked by the end of Sept. Bet dennis Wise is rubbing his hands. I would love to have 5 mins with Barton dirty wheelsteeling prick.
August 30, 2008 at 19:52
There was one at the Twente game.. There’s only one Samir Nasri, only one Samir Nasri, He’s walking alo.. you get the idea
August 30, 2008 at 19:54

August 30, 2008 at 19:58
KK said that to win they needed to be as lucky as us! He said it wasn’t a pen! and tryed to hint Nasri is a cheat! Fuck of back up North thats 11-0 in the last 3 trips to the grove. and we are lucky. what a wanker, get some class!

Robin was Man of the match Ade done the interview for him as he was having treatment.
August 30, 2008 at 20:02
If it’s to the sound of YMCA you won’t get many gooners joining in Graham George.
August 30, 2008 at 20:02
What a cock KK was on the post match
Not a penalty my arse, and we should have had one before that. if anything they are lucky to leave London with only -3 on the goal difference.
They were a bunch of thugs at the end of the day so fucking hope the bus breaks down on the way back North.
August 30, 2008 at 20:03
are you allowed to drink in the stadium? saw ashley drinkin some beer!!!
August 30, 2008 at 20:05
He probably eats pies just as quickly, I wonder how many he scoffed at half time.
August 30, 2008 at 20:08
haha … wooot.. TT got me 16 points!!! 2 assists ..
August 30, 2008 at 20:34
Van Persie’s broken his ankle apparantley
August 30, 2008 at 20:42

August 30, 2008 at 20:43
Joe Todd are you sure where did you read that fuck
August 30, 2008 at 20:43
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/296410317?-11203
August 30, 2008 at 20:45
The medics say they think he’s broken it.. It was on SkySportsNews
August 30, 2008 at 20:46
it says an ankle knock but going for an x ray now to see the damage. Our luck we know the result already
August 30, 2008 at 20:46
We need to buy a striker
August 30, 2008 at 20:46
For fuck sake
August 30, 2008 at 20:48
fuck you van persie…made of glass!
August 30, 2008 at 20:51
Wenger interview on arse.com
August 30, 2008 at 20:54
On potential signings…
“We are trying to buy but the problem is availabliltly, as well as the fact we have to find players better or as good as the ones we have.”
August 30, 2008 at 20:58
Wenger said the first signs look positive but they are a little worried on the BBC interview……he would have been in excruciating pain if his ankle was broken, Sky Sports could be hyping it up….there’s a 2 week break anyway and he won’t be off playing for Holland.
August 30, 2008 at 20:58
Evening Grovers – I was determined to watch tonights game in peace, and I did just that, and I also decided not to type whilst viewing -
I enjoyed the match – very very much…. However
As they say in the Eurovision contest – here are my votes………….
Almunia – 8
Bac – 8 and very easy game
Willy – 7.5 – should have scored
Kolo – 8 – Could have scored a wonderful goal
Clichy – 8 – Solid, so so solid
Eboue – 7 – much better after 15 mins of typical Eboue, but he is loved by our players!
Denilson – 6.5 – better 2nd half, and good goal
Cesc – Cesc Cesc Cesc – 9
Nasri – 9
Ade – 5 -
RvP – 8.5 – great pen and second – off for safety I think
Vela – 10 for having the balls to come on and run at the buggers
Theo, Song, they di pretty good
Come on then Grovers, rip my views apart
August 30, 2008 at 20:59
Yep exactly finest.. I hate SSN they hype the shit outta some stuff.. Ronaldo interview in August and they said they had a exclusive interview with him, so everyone tuned in and he said 3 words
August 30, 2008 at 21:02
RvP – Wenger is keeping him out of the Dutch team, and I think no more than that!!
He is a canny old bugger
August 30, 2008 at 21:03
ffs Wenger… there are many players who are as good as the ones we have … off the top of my head I can think of at least 5 who are available if we wern’t penny pinching – Arshavin, Barry, Alonso, Veloso and Unbekannte
August 30, 2008 at 21:07
That hit on the head in with a baseball bat in the gay lay by, had more affect on his brain than I thought..
“Joey came on, got a good tackle in on Nasri. Then the guy sliced him down. That’s what happened and that’s what I saw, which is what I was upset about,” the Newcastle manager said.
August 30, 2008 at 21:11
Great performance, unreconisable from last week. Everyone looked liked the wanted it. Loads of positives to take away : )
August 30, 2008 at 21:13
Sliced him down?
If that is being sliced down then Butt was guilty of Manslaughter.
August 30, 2008 at 21:15
Jules – out of those, I would only like us to sign Veloso and Alonso
Barry is fat, over rated and old
Arseshavin is a money grabbing F’R
Unbekannete – I know nothing, so I cannot comment
But what about
Richards & Lescott
I reckon Paddy is coming back, and Larsssssson the Henrik
August 30, 2008 at 21:17
Nasri on Barton – pause your Sky +, look real hard ………………
No Bloody contact What so ever!!!
August 30, 2008 at 21:17
:mrangry:
August 30, 2008 at 21:18
ah – didnt work that then!
August 30, 2008 at 21:19
Wenger admits that we are short in CM area. Fair play to the guy.
See BBC interview.
The stupid interviewer asked a stupid question on lines of ‘is it wise to spend with such quality shown by younger players’. Stupid really. Though it has to be said Wenger seems confident of signing someone.
Rico, you might be right about wenger. He’s probably protecting RVP. Nasty nicky butt mofo pulled a bad one on him. Bastard!
August 30, 2008 at 21:20
I didn’t think Nasri touched Barton as much as I would have liked him to have Rico..
August 30, 2008 at 21:20
I didn’t think there was contact either and if there was it looked accidental.
thugs challenge on Nasri was a lot worse, 6 inches away from a lengthy spell out. If Nasri had made a meal out of that Barton could have been off.
Also how come it took 3 mins to book him. I thought the 4th official was not allowed to do that
The Ref had a stinker anyway.
August 30, 2008 at 21:21
G07 – I am just hoping and praying – he looked back to his best almost today, and he did walk off ok, i live in hope
August 30, 2008 at 21:22
Nasri just tripped barton if at all a contact was made, slightest at the least. Stupid of keegan to whine about. OTher than that, he sounds sane in BBC. He’s also a bit short on watching relpays from what he speaks aboutg. that penalty with such lazy jump by n’zogbia with his arm so up, and also reg Nasri’s ’slice’ – supposedly!
August 30, 2008 at 21:22
Gooner07, do you have a link to the BBC interview.
August 30, 2008 at 21:24
Fact – No contact, not a little, not accidental
No contact at all – END OF ! Hope AW appeals it, Butt is an Arse!!
August 30, 2008 at 21:24
perhaps we should appeal reg. the yellow card for Nasri, and also a ban on nicky butt is mandatory! WE shouldn’t let that cunt go scotfree! Apparently an appeal is required for the initiation of the action. Someone should mail or call the FA.
Red card challenges escaped so far against us:
Pantsil (fulham)
Nicky butt (newcastle)
I promise to update this list.
August 30, 2008 at 21:26
That prick of a pundit on setanta took about six fucking replays to say we might have had a shout at a penalty when the Newcastle defender went straight through the back of RVP..
I thought tackling from behind was banned!!
August 30, 2008 at 21:29
Rico,
Thanks for confirming. In fact, I like keegan. I think he’s overprotective of Barton.
todd,
Wenger also said: Vela is a young eduardo – good on the ball, short backlift, and a good link up player.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/match_of_the_day/7590252.stm
the interviewer asys ‘you’d be crazy to spend’..hahha
Wenger is right in saying we’re a bit short in CM area.
And he’s little bit worried on RVP. We’re a lot more worried, Arsene…
August 30, 2008 at 21:30
david,
on a lucky day, it could have been a penalty plus sending off.
on a nonrmal day, it’s a penalty
on any other day like today with that pig faced rob stiles as ref, it’s nothing given. Bastard!
August 30, 2008 at 21:31
This is what I said in my post at 6:26 during half time
Finally RVP, only problem now is that he is a banker to get an injury in the next 7 days now he is scoring again
It is a nightmare for him. he is either trying to regain form for 40% of the time, injured for 50% of the time or bang on form for only 10%
With Eduardo out at the moment as well, we cant have a repeat of that spell back in the spring. If the Xray is bad news we have to buy in a striker and if Bayern get Berbatov maybe Klose or Podolski are the answer.
August 30, 2008 at 21:33
any1 watched motd with those cunts hansen n lawrenson…condescending old gits.
August 30, 2008 at 21:35
rico – 5 for Ade? that seems harsh, i thought he worked much harder than he has so far this term, was well involved in the third goal, and generally seemed up for the fight and keen to score. You disagree?
August 30, 2008 at 21:36
Evening All!,
Although I’m very happy with the result and the way we got it, I can’t help but feel that the gloss of the performance has been taken away slightly.
The sight of Robin Van Persie hobbling off around the pitch with his boot in his hand dampened my mood.
He was immense today and you could really see the difference in his game. He was sharp and up for it. It’s a shame his evening ended so soon as I was really enjoying watching him play.
We have seen RVP limp off the pitch so many times and for me it has got to the point where I worry for him when he makes a challenge. Today he even got injured taking a shot!
He is having an X-ray on his ankle as the extent of the injury isn’t known. I’m seriously bracing myself for the worst.
Without doubt Van Persie is a very important player to this Arsenal side. When he is fit he makes a big difference to us.
It makes me feel for him when I see that he is beginning to show his true form and then out of nowhere he gets another injury.
Is Van Persie made of glass? I hope for his sake he can get over these injury problems or I say regrettably, he is becoming a liability for Arsenal.
Sorry for sounding pessimistic on a night when Arsenal performed superb.
August 30, 2008 at 21:40
Why dosen’t Arsenal say something TODAY about the shit refereeing decisions?
We win, we are happy and we keep our gob shut. Like last week that tackle on Eboue wasn’t a lot better than the one that broke Eduardo’s leg, but we say nothing..
Then when things go against us and we drop points, everyone says it’s sour grapes (Birmingham game)..
But we have had some bad decisions against us already and Wenger smiles and says fuck all!!
August 30, 2008 at 21:42
I really feel sorry for RVP,have to agree with Pat,as good as he is he really is porcelain and we need another striker.
Rico 01 a tad unfair giving ade 5. for robin’s goal.He ran his heart out and I am sure you noticed how much the players love eboue when they ran over to him after the back heel flick. That doesn’t make him a good player but it surprised me how elated they were.
August 30, 2008 at 21:44
sorry that was rubbish, leave out for robin’s goal
August 30, 2008 at 21:47
anyone left with their mouth open with eboue’s ball control in the half way line in lead up to his backflick assist-goal, and also few mins before that he does a laudrup juggle between his legs. Seriously left me amazed. Also theo’s linkup is improving..good sign already.
August 30, 2008 at 21:49
BEST GAME I’VE BEEN TO!!!! just got back. Everyone singing there’s only one kevin keegan with the northeners leaving was fantastic!!!!
August 30, 2008 at 21:50
seb – Ade is a striker, he needs to do what he is supposed to – SCORE!!!
remember that old song from primaty school – it goes something like…………
Im busy doing nothing
working yhe whole day through
Trying to find
Lots of things not to do……………………
Thats Ade, Headless Chicken… He needs a goal, and needs to chill, he is trying too hard and mucking everything up – hence my mark!!
August 30, 2008 at 21:54
wrighty…a friend supports ajax…he doesn’t like rvp one bit…he calls him a rapist…and today he was applauding rvp’s injury during the game…i want to maul him..i want rvp to silence all these fuckers…he’s on his way to his deserved greatness…he struggled a lot over the years, and the kid has gone through a lot of bad things..i hope he shows more form for us than dutch team..
August 30, 2008 at 21:55
I thought Ade was pretty good today, he won the penalty and played a part in the RVP’s goal and fed the pass for Denilson.
He should have scored but I think he is working on his team play to appease the fans a bit.
Happy with his performance today though. Nasri was MOTM for me. Finally we have a replacement for Pires.
August 30, 2008 at 21:55
rico,
ade had two assists today…includes that cross for penalty.. i agree though that he’s yet to score, which is important for the main striker in our team..
August 30, 2008 at 21:56
Adebayor was one of the best player’s on the park rico.
August 30, 2008 at 21:56
david – you are so Spot On, Eboue’s tackle went by, because of his stupid antics before, but last week that was a leg breaking challenge – the player should have been red carded!
August 30, 2008 at 21:56
Nasri tracked back twice to get back possession…twice from the box!!! Now that’s crazy shit…Go Nas Go..
August 30, 2008 at 21:57
Joe …… Sorry but
August 30, 2008 at 21:57
lucas podolski would be an excellent buy I’d take him like a shit, we still need a DM though.
August 30, 2008 at 21:57
He will rico, he will – Robin got one today and quickly got another (but possibly no more… :/ )
Ade will be the same, he just needs one. Teams are much more wary of him after last season, he will be marked tighter, so teammates will benefit from the extra space they have. He is at least a team player. Although his total inability to comprehend the offside rule is getting a bit much.
August 30, 2008 at 21:58
that should have been “take him like a shot” but then again, i often take a shit, so maybe i was right first time!
August 30, 2008 at 22:00

August 30, 2008 at 22:15
May I also suggest Arsenal.com to put up a 24 hour sick list with continuous updation. Would help us be up to date with likes of RVP, Rosick, and Diaby around.

August 30, 2008 at 22:20
Gooner07 If Arse . com done a sick list..
It would show Malcom McDonald needs a cartlage operation with the speed they work at..
August 30, 2008 at 22:20
Been to the game and here are my thoughts. What a great performance. Today showed what Wenger has said he has seen in training, a lot of talent and total attacking football. HOWEVER….we need that stand up and be counted DM…Denilson played well…but we have ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool to come and they will be different games totally and sides like Spurs raise there game no matter how shit they are playing. At home of course we will be unbeatable, but the away battles at Spurs, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn etc are key and we need that added something. Can’t believe RVP injured again…but Vela, Nik, Theo can all offer options up there with Ade.
Nasri can play through the middle if something happens to Cesc with emergency back up from Ramsey.
I think I finally see what AW sees in Eboue. When Kolo plays he likes to launch forward, and that strike in the first half shows why he does. Eboue can drop in and cover, saw it happen today a number of times. This is not something that Theo would be the right player to do.. I am not an Eboue fan…but he did well today…still managed to give me some funny laughs along the way!
I think we are good for the season, after seeing this performance and will compete up there….but I am still not convinced we have the complete squad to go the distance yet, when it comes to the business end of CL qtrs, key PL games either side etc
Come on AW..get that cheque book out and get a couple of players….at least 1 DM. PLEASE.!!!
August 30, 2008 at 22:28
Does the transfer window shut tonight?

August 30, 2008 at 23:02
omg that was definitely a pen!!!! and gallas should have buried it, could have been 5
August 30, 2008 at 23:05
Right that is me for the day
Lets see how long RVP is out for when I wake up in the morning.
I wonder if this changes everything on Wengers transfer plans
Got to say I am amazed at how quickly Nasri has adjusted, that boy is going to be an Arsenal Legend.
Finally well done Eboue, you were not great but you were not shit either. That was your best game in an Arsenal shirt at RM.
August 30, 2008 at 23:09

August 30, 2008 at 23:55
How can Almunia get a good score when he had only one shot to save. The other shots either went wide or hit the bar. Just watched MOTD and I thought Ron Green and Jussi looked awesome.
Almunia 5
Sagna 7
Clichy 7
Toure 7
Gallas 7
Fab 8
Nasri 8.5
Eboue 8
Dennilson 7
Ade 8

August 30, 2008 at 23:59

August 31, 2008 at 00:01
I was just about to defend Almunia when I realised who you was El Tel then I realised NO POINT!!
August 31, 2008 at 00:03
Almunia to be Englands No:1 Woop Woop!!
August 31, 2008 at 00:35
Hi. Some more ratings for anyone interested:
Almunia – 6 – Did fine. Almost got chipped, but otherwise it’s difficult to judge.
Sagna – 7 – Reliable, as usual.
Toure – 8 – He had some fire back. Nice shot.
Gallas – 7 – Good. (Cesc is the real leader).
Clichy – 8 – Future Captain?
Eboue – 7 – He does add something (like a miniature Ade – awkward and difficult for fans, his teammates and the opposition).
Fabregas – 8 – Getting back to his best. Changes everything when he’s around.
Denilson – 7 – Nice goal, lovely short passing. Gives the ball away too much for an ‘anchor’ player.
Nasri – 9 – Top individual and team player. What’s a ‘Hleb’?
Adebayor – 8 – Worked really really hard.
Van Persie – 9 – He has been playing recently like he’s holding back a bit – it’s the final 1 percent that breaks him (like the goal against Manutd, stretching too far) – then he stretched too far (kicked the bottom of someone’s boot) looking for something extraordinary (and unnecessary) for his hat-trick…
Vela – 8 – Great attitude, vision and skill.
Walcott – 6 – Did fine, just not on for long.
Song – 6 – Same.
Wenger – 9 – The players looked properly motivated. He also said in his interview that ‘of course’ he takes notice of criticism. Here’s hoping he reads your blog.
A DM is still needed for tougher opponents.
August 31, 2008 at 00:37
How good is Nasri? Certainly better than Hleb.
Gotta say that that barton turd has something really bad coming to him, & when it happens, I’ll applaud.
August 31, 2008 at 00:56
So if Inter has just played Aug 30, & were held to a draw. Why would PV4 be at the Emirates watching the Goonsie Woonsies? Is the answer obvious, & I am just getting too excited
& missing the bleeding obvious, or is he going to sign as that “DM with PL experience”. Scroogey, I mean Arsene, I know you sneak into your den & read Le Grove, is the “old” fella really “coming home”. Chamone!
August 31, 2008 at 00:59
In the three games i’ve watched Nari i don’t think he is yet to give the ball away. It just sticks to him, and his passes all go to an Arsenal shirt…think he’s gonna be a something special for us…..please stay fit, please stay fit, please st…..any news on RVP, how bad was his injury?
August 31, 2008 at 01:28
MBA
Haven’t heard more on RVP. But I’d say it was more precautionary that he came off
He sort of nodded to the bench or someone associated with that section of the Club that it wasn’t that bad, but I guess we will have to wait & see. He seems to lure the tackles doesn’t he, whereas Ade loaps about jumping over tackles.
What do you reckon about Vieira being in the stands? We should find out soon whether it is just wishfull thinking. But a big “oak’ like him would be just nice for intimidating purposes @ the very least.
August 31, 2008 at 01:41
Bring it on, I’d have no problems with Paddy coming back, he’d fill the gap for a year while some of the others come on a bit. Don’t see it though, someone said earlier he’s injured at the mo which is why he was over….but I’d not put it past AW, nothing would surprise me.
Don’y know if he’d play second fiddle to Cesc, and not being captain anymore…who knows though….I’d love to see him in the shirt again, just hope its not a return that would ruin the memory of a great gooner.
Tomorrow should be a very interesting day indeed….I can’t tell if AW is content to stick with current squad or secretly has something special lined up…
Could be PV4, but he’ll have to wear a new shirt.
August 31, 2008 at 02:01
If someone was to pay me £50,000 + a week, not only would I change my shirt, I’d be willing to change my name to Gnarley Too Hotty
August 31, 2008 at 02:02
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/31/arsenal
this was a good read on AW.
by the way GG; where the fuck were the wallabies last night??? If there’s one thing I hate more than watching your lot win is watching the Yarppies win…now i’ve gotta put up with those smug SA’s on Monday morning at work.
August 31, 2008 at 02:03
…….& what about the Ruga. What a pasting the Boks gave us. I turned it off into the 2nd half it was too much to bear
August 31, 2008 at 02:06
good call. And Paddy might be a point in his carear were he sees this as a new challenge…a chance to be the old wise Jedi master to our group of Padawan learners. One last horah before hanging up his boots.
Found this to be a good read…http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/31/arsenal
By the way, what the fuck were the Wallabies doing last night? If there is one thing I hate more than seeing your lot win its watching the yarpees win…now i gotta deal with all those smug South Africans on Monday morning at work
August 31, 2008 at 02:13
The wife has been away since thursday, netball tour down south…..its been the best 3 days ever….shes due home anytime now……so sad. 3 days of glorious laziness, drinking and eating take aways! I ended up staying up all night for the rugger and footie….probs wouldn’t have done that had she been here…
…you didn’t miss anything in that second half mate, turning over was the right idea.
August 31, 2008 at 02:44
gday lads, whats the chat, everyone happy with the result?
August 31, 2008 at 02:54
On potential signings…
“We are trying to buy but the problem is availabliltly, as well as the fact we have to find players better or as good as the ones we have.”
August 31, 2008 at 02:57
most ideal results tonight will be a villa win and spuds win!
August 31, 2008 at 03:44
what a show!
too bad cesc, theo, nasri, toure, gallas, clichy, vela and ade didn’t get on the scoresheet. (i think they all had a pop at goal… so many potential scorers, more of the same in future matches please).
going forward is not a problem yesterday.
denilson didn’t look comfortable, strayed a lot of passes but all’s forgiven with the goal.
almunia did well on occasions to keep the clean sheet.
the cb pairing looks ok to keep owen & ameobi quiet (tho’ i do rate collocini-spelling?).
August 31, 2008 at 04:44
did you guys see mike ashley sculling down that beer on the tv coverage, it was almost a whole beer he put down in 1 go!
the tv commentators were pissing themselves!
August 31, 2008 at 04:56
morning evo…
yeah the cunt sure can do a bottoms up…
I’m so happy we won…
I hope Rvp is just a precaution to keep him out of the stupid friendlies…..
August 31, 2008 at 05:13
gday choy
yeah im rapt we won too
he could easily be made of glass RVP. i thought he was injured from the studs of Butt going down the back of his calf, but it seems its his other leg the ankle/foot?
August 31, 2008 at 05:27
was just watching the highlights.. i think the defender stamped his foot or something or he fell awkwardly.. geez… rvp.. please don’t get injured!!!!
August 31, 2008 at 05:28
yeah he had 2 knocks on it, 1 at the start of the game when he was brought down in the box and the penalty wasnt awarded and the 2nd time when he cracked that shot onto the crossbar!
August 31, 2008 at 05:31
that was a cracking shot.. thought vela looked good too when he came on!!1
August 31, 2008 at 05:46
yeah vela has even better skill than some of the others in our team. he is an out and out box player, much like eduardo!
looking forward to the season, its whet my appetite now!
August 31, 2008 at 05:48
G’Day fellas
Yes, a fit RVP could make such a difference. His value @ set shots is value plus. I think if he was bad we would have heard
i.e Gerrard. The malaria seems to have done Kolo the world of good. Maybe those mozzies that bit him were medicinal ones
Still, after all this feel good stuff, Arsenal must be able to win away. Oh well, I’m off to watch the Tigers v Dees. Back for the new post. Bye chaps.

morn gg9….

it makes me wonder why everyone is talking about RVP ?
the lad has always had the class .
just never given that many chances per game normally to prove his worth …
its no secret that ade’s ego in the past demanded more possession than any other forward ..
RVp knows he’s better than ade once more and willing to take matters into his own hands ,
good to see and may it long continue …
so any thoughts on our 90 k a week togo ACE striker !
another wicked performance … worth every penny !
more offsides than hookers on sukmuvit road Bangkok .

i still think the best current combination is RVP – vela ..
and arsene is stupid for not giving it 2 full games !
been saying it for weeks and until we buy david villa (
)
i will continue to say it

this would easily be the funniest piece of news today…
HOTLINE – WENGER LOOK AT CHRIST
Arsene Wenger has made enquiries about taking Real Madrid’s Christoph Metzelder to the Emirates on loan.
The Germany defender has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu and Wenger needs to bolster his defence af ter selling Philippe Senderos to AC Milan and seeing new signing Mikael Silvestre pick up an injury the moment he walked into the club from Manchester United.
Metzelder, 27, only joined Real last summer, but knows he will struggle to get past established stars such as Fabio Cannavaro and Sergio Ramos.
Arsenal centre-half William Gallas was even booed against FD Twente by his own supporters on Wednesday and Metzelder would see the move as an opportunity to re-start his career.
Free Agent Ian Harte is being looked at by Reading as a possible replacement for Nicky Shorey. Harte was released by Sunderland at the end of last season.

what about this news as well….
Senderos won’t be able to take part in tomorrow’s match against Bologna, as he is struggling with a back problem, but the Rossoneri medical staff found more concerns.
“He underwent tests at the MilanLab and was found to be in poor physical shape,” explained medic Massimo Manara.
“He will not go on international duty with Switzerland, instead staying here to continue his work with the fitness coaches.”

That Senderos thing is interesting. How can he be unfit after doing pre-season?
Either AC are doing their usual anti-Arse stuff. Or our fitness guys are rubbish.
August 31, 2008 at 07:58
I think it’s all in his head,a mental state through lack of confidence

Ethan
Whats going on up there, re demonstrations against government?

Morning Happy Campers
Senderos – I was surprised he passed a medical, he has been unfit to play for us, another shrew old move by Ebenezer Wenger I say…
Still on a high, sure as heck am I, still wish Ade had gone and been replaced with Villa, he looked like a headless chicken IMHO
August 31, 2008 at 08:26
I may do a holding post before Pedro’s match report.
August 31, 2008 at 08:33
Rico,
I REALLY hate to disagree with you, but…..
I felt Ade was one of our best players yesterday. True he fluffed a relatively easy chance, but he got that chance through his own intelligence and pace. Some of his link-up play was outstanding.
Are you Ethan in disguise?
August 31, 2008 at 08:36
any transfer links this morning guys? apart from the metzelder one.
August 31, 2008 at 08:36
BR
I thought Ade’s presence was quite intimidating. Like a big taranchula scurrying about the park.
August 31, 2008 at 08:38
a holding post would do just fine with a sprinkle of transfer guesses
August 31, 2008 at 08:38
Raddy – ok, lets disagree, thats healthy, but ( yes women aleays have a but, no pun)
He runs a lot, his first touch he as dainty as a Russian Female shot putter (no offence to any Female Russian shot putters!) and he cant score at the moment. I want him to get goals, and I want him to get better, and I wouldnt ever boo him. He just frustrates me so much – well, he is a man i suppose!!
Now Eboue – he was class………………….
