I didn’t see that one coming. LOL.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Well, well, I got that wrong didn’t I? Why, because I haven’t a clue or because the boss hasn’t a clue? A piece of top management or a sign that he may be losing the plot? Only time will tell, but I for one am not happy, this was one rumour I was not pleased came true.

If we were signing a world class 28 year old defender I would be pleased, we’re not though are we? we’re signing an injury prone has-been the Mancs didn’t want and now the rumours have started that Wenger is going to send Djourou out on loan. Just when he was showing promise.

Signing a player who has hit the dizzying age of 31 is crazy enough, giving him a 2 year deal is hypercritical, esepecially when you didn’t afford the same luxury to Arsenal legends. Don’t tell me for a minute Bobby Pires / Sol Campbell / Gilberto couldn’t have done a job for us for on a 2 year deal.

I’m starting to think xenophobia, we made 5 signings this summer, one Welshman and four from France, and two of those are injury prone, before someone tells me Bitchslap is from Portugal, he’s half French and played for the under 18′s I believe.

So when the boss says he doesn’t look at their passports, I’m not so sure. If he wanted experience at the back he should have signed Dunne, it seems to me 3 out of 5 players on freebies is tight fisted and smacks of doing stuff on the cheap.

Still I may be way wrong on this one and he could be just what we need, it’s just odd that Fergie didn’t, it reeks of West Ham and Freddie to me.

Still Frank McLintock says it’s a good signing so I’ll go along with it, but I don’t think he’s been bought as cover, that’s why he left the Mancs, because he wasn’t getting games.

Why couldn’t we have read that he’d just swooped for Barry or Cana or YaYa, why is it another gamble? I hope we still buy the defensive midfielder we so desperately need, I hope this isn’t it the end of the signings.

I also found out yesterday that LOL didn’t stand for lots of love, so I’ve been reading a lot of comments the wrong way, I thought you were all so caring, still I attach it to today’s heading as I feel it fits… not the love bit, the laugh bit!

Have a great day debating Grovers, I bet this signing has you divided.

Seems JD wont be moving, but Traore off to Pompey on a season long loan…thats yet one more “rumour mill” story…but seems realistic. Don’t see Silvestre coming our way just to cheer from the side lines. Whatever happens good to have him on board, think he’ll come in handy. But all these reports calling it the biggest shock transfer in years are going a little over board…im over it all ready…bring on the main signing AW talked about.

As for Silver being a Man Utd reject, i really don’t think Fergie saw us buying him. The guy was given a transfer, i would say as some mark or respect as he wasn’t going to get a start. Once we came in was a little late for utd to stop him going.

  2. Geoff

I’m back on and please that everyone’s enjoying themselves, when Pedro and I aren’t around to moderate we always worry some nutter will get on and cause havoc.

Sorry about the miss spelling of Franky!

  3. david

So Silvestre had a cruciate problem…. so what….
When they mend they are stronger than they were previously..

Look at Gallas and Silv on Wiki they have very similar records and Silvestre has been playing at Man U a far stronger side to break into, so he would have played less games and he is only NINE days older than gallas..

Match day we take £3 million perhaps, but that is not PROFIT we have running costs 365 days a year so it is bollocks that 5 games pays for this and that…

  4. chris

i wouldnt worry geoff there is enough nutter regulars here so that quota is reached, i include myself in that category

  5. El Tel

I do fucking care where he came from and he can fuck off back there. I dont give a fuck if you call it tribalism as football is about tribalism. I donn’t want the Club i love to have any Mancscum cunt playing for us and that includes the pansy dive merchant greasy winker cunt.

Most gooners would hate Th14 if he were to sign for them and thats a fact. Please don’t say he is a good signing when there are plenty of players better than him out there.

Bollocks to the amount of trophys that prick as won. There are lots of shit players who have won trophys because they are part of a team. This arsehole was quick to fuck us over to the media when he had his say.

He has already said he will not come here to sit on the bench so he isn’t a back up at all he is in the Team. So when Big Phil gets the odd game here and there and makes mistakes please don’t slag the guy off as he is now 4th or 5th choice CB now.

Wenger as also sent Djoroue to Rennes on loan, if i was Djoroue I would be fucking angry mate and wouldn’t want to come back.

Did Wenger buy the prick to appease Gallas?

Gallas was a Chav first teamer and good player when we signed him and Sol was the Spuds best player. Aloso is quality. They all play for our rivals but they don’t smell of Mancscum.

Wake up Gooners we are going rotten, even if we do win trophys. Wait till we play them and you see this ugly cunt cuddling them scummy bastards. Bet that will please you all.

Lets hope Wenger signs Frings now we know age is not a problem or he could ask for Gattuso, we could even think about asking Paulo Maldini to give it a go.

You can cunt me off all you like after this bollocks i couldn’t give a shit.

  6. hounddog

Kelsey: Spot on. We all have different opinions and this site allows for us to share those opinions. Opinions are one of the things that makes us football fans so special!! We should simply be able to enjoy sharing them with each other.

  7. Arsenal Tom

Republic of Ireland assistant manager Liam Brady was taken to hospital in Dublin on Thursday morning.

The former midfield ace complained of feeling unwell shortly after last night’s 1-1 draw with Norway after experiencing pains in his back during the game in Oslo.

Brady, who is also the head of Arsenal’s Youth Academy, flew home with the rest of the squad but, upon his arrival in Dublin, he was taken to Beaumont Hospital for tests.

  8. Big Raddy

    Hi all,

I think Silvestre is a great signing. Just what we need – an experienced player who is adaptable, can cover CB, and Gael. Well done AW. And I agree entirely with the view that Ol’ Rednose is showing respect to a loyal player.

RvP ….. A cracker. Now for one at the weekend.

Arshavin ? How much more shite are we going to hear from agents, who are just trying to boost the attractions of their clients. In this case trying to get the Sperms to pay him more money.

  9. chris

he is a french mercenary el tel, its not like its nevile, manc thru and thru,
either way i can see both sides of the argument,

  10. Mark C

Just has a thought, perhaps we will now let Senderos go, and bring in a block buster DM, like Barry or Alonso.

I am not bothered about them being cup tied, I dont believe you need a big prescence when playing Barca or Madrid, just in the EPL.

When is Wenger’s next press conference? Is it tomorrow? I am sure he will be asked if there are anymore players coming.

  11. El Tel

    Hi Geoff

Sorry mate I am that nutter today. This transfer is a fucking joke Pal.

As for RVP when is he going to play for us like he does for Holland?

  12. hounddog

EL TEL: Try some new medication it may help you calm down mate :-) Djourou is not going to Rennes and Frings is not coming to Arsenal!! Silvestre is a better buy than you give credit for.

  13. El Tel

    Chris

yes mate you are right he is a mercenary.

Hands up who liked the guy when he played for them?

Yes we all have opinions and he is a good player maybe but I personally wouldn’t want their best player in an Arsenal

  14. MorrowsBrokenArm

Don’t be so sure hounddog..it sems Rennes have now made an official approach for the kid….i hope he doesn’t but I can see AW thinking it good logic…gaining experience and all that….wasn’t that what his Brum loan was supposed to do. Think he should get a shot at fighting for his place. Or at least say he can be recalled at anytime during any loan move.

  15. chris

El Tel, you said the same to me in may when flamin left when i was upset!
i use to rate silvestre and looked at his recent stats last night, when he played in 06/07 they lost only one game and that was against us

  16. El Tel

    Houndog

I don’t care if he is better than TA I don’t want them at our Club. They have an hatred for us as players as fans and even their Management. I also have that hatred. They are filth to the core mate.

I know we won’t get frings but it was just a comparison.

AFC53 Good shout mate. Hyppia has won the CL so he must be good.

  17. finestcuts

Silvestre may want a starting place….but he’s going to have to earn it, I don’t see why we’ve already come to the conclusion that he’ll be given a starting berth. And if he beats Toure who had no credible competition to his place and does a better job, is that a problem. Like them or not, Manyoo don’t hold onto crap players for nine years. Every player in a team makes a difference, does Ferguson carry passengers? Name me some….
I think what bothers people most is that he’s not a multi-million big name signing…
but that should not be the case, the question should be, can he do an effective job for us, and the answer is an unequivocal yes…..once we’re in the mix and Silvestre does what he was hired for, I doubt we’ll continue to see anti-Silvestre postings…..gut reaction is understandable….he is an ex-Manc, and if that’s how people want to judge a player that’s their perogative.

  18. El Tel

    Chris

I know mate but Flamini was outgoing and will be forgotten in time. We have this guy to look at for the next 2 years.

Mancsum have never gone a season loing just once as far as i can recall. I believe the Chavs matched our record of losing just 1 until the Invincibles got it back. I could be wrong about this.

  19. Big Raddy

Totally agree about MU being filth to the core. But I hate the Chavs more.

Poor Pedro going into the heartland on MU support …… Reading

  20. finestcuts

El Tel, I know about Manc hatred first hand….but it still doesn’t stop me from respecting Wenger’s pragmatism. He’s Arsenal now. Sol Campbell, came from Tottenham, became a gooner favourite….

  21. El Tel

Big Raddy, how you doing mate. I am afraid I would hate the winker even more if he played for us. He is a pathetic person.

    Finest

I am not the person who wants fancy big name signings at all you are wrong if that was aimed at me. I think we have the best Team in the Prem and I knock Wenger. My opinion on the ugly bastard will never change just as it won’t for our fake Keeper.

  22. chris

El Tel, my record of 06-07 was for when silvestre was playing not the macs overall record,

how the fuck is pedro working at the festival, who needs spread sheets done in a camp site!

  23. rico01

Big Raddy – This is one from the Reading Area who does NOT support the Horse Manure – Have to say though, you are not far off the mark, but true Reading Folk support Reading and then follow Manure or ‘Pool – I was born 15 miles outside of Reading, used to watch them as a kid, but I think it was Charlie George that did it for me finally :) NO, not in that way – as a player ;)

  24. chris

i concur, ronaldo would sicken me to my stomach and is a no no for me, irrespective of the possibilities of success

  25. finestcuts

Not specifically El Tel, I do suspect that may be the reason some fans don’t want Silvestre…..and I can understand that as well, people were hoping for Zapata or Mexes and we’ve got an ex-Manc. It’s a bit like hoping for a full English and getting a bowl of Bran Flakes and being told it’s good for you.

What about this Andrade deal, is that a possibility or just pure speculation?

  26. Big Raddy

El Tel I have no interest in players as people, they are almost all pathetic excuses for human beings (though fairplay to Ade for his charity work). What I care about is how they play.

How many players are men you can honestly say as top blokes. ? Kanu comes to mind, as does Niall Quinn. But beyond them?

How were England last night? Shite as usual?

  27. El Tel

    Raddy/Geoff

Thats why I don’t hate the Chavs because they have never been a problem and they are not a real Team. I don’t like the Spuds but they are not a problem as they are quite funny LOL. The Mancs have been cheating for the past 20 odd years and ussually we are the victims. I have been to many games against them and felt cheated over the past 30 years.

When Dein got overthrown by the northerners and Gill got in things changed. The Mancs were falling away to the Chavs and us but since he was appointed they have won the League in both his seasons. They get Pens for nothing they don’t give pens away again. And the likes of Rooney and Scholes can do what they like unpunished.

I was there when Sol got sent off at Highbury for catching Baby face by accident and saw the red nose giving it large to the East Upper. I walked out of the Cup Final after Reyes was sent off for reacting to the bully boy tactics he got all game. Missed us do them on Pens. They cheated to stop the Invincibles Rooney diving. The FAC semi at Villa when Scholes knee capped Reyes seconds after he came on ( that fucked Reyes mind).

I can’t forgive them they are bent. GG was sacked for doing less than that arrogant red nosed cunt but we were the only ones punished? There’s lots more but not enough timre to write it all.

  28. treze13

im not talking about most of you but sometimes you get one on here randomly defending wenger for doing absolutely nothing, thats an AKB (arsene knows brigade).
KABs (kill arsene brigade)come out when we sign someone who wont instantly win us a title (like last night, not naming names)

  29. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

Bad news everyone….eboue is buying a 2nd house in London. My cousin was round his gaff the other day and toure and eboue were there, cousin asked Kolo if he’d be fit for saturday (west brom) and kolo just goes ‘yes i think so…it’s only west brom though!’

Eboue was saying how much he loves life in london. Fuck.

  30. El Tel

    Finest

You are cheering me up with your wit. LOL

    Raddy

Most people I know couldn’t give a stuff about Engerland anymore mate. I wouldn’t watch them if you paid me. Proud to be British re the Olympics though. True sportsmen and Ladies.

  31. Big Raddy

ET. I was at all those games as well. And we could continue with the reasons why MU are a shite club, managed by a thug and supported by the brain dead. BUT The Winker is a fantastic player, & if he signed for us, it would almost certainly mean that Eboue didn’t get in the team.

Surely that must persuade you !

  32. El Tel

    Hi Treze

I don’t want to kill Wenger and I really do rate him but he is behaving very strange over the past couple of years. He needs an assistant I think.

I can’t wait to read a book by Wenger when he retires. I believe he will open up cans of worms regarding the cheating that he sees in the Prem. He got mugged in France by marseille and now he is getting mugged by the Mancscummmers.

  33. treze13

cheers ethan ill do that later thanks for the link.

El Tel i wasn’t really accusing you, i can’t even work out if your for or against Silvestre!!

  34. El Tel

Sorry big Raddy I just wouldn’t want to see him in an Arsenal shirt. Did you not think Teddy Sherringham was a decent player? would you have liked him playing for us?

Joao Paulo Andrade. FC Porto DM 28 years of age. Ken Friar has spoken to him and a Contract is ready for him to sign.

  35. El Tel

    Cheers Treze

I know you wasn’t mate. I just want Wenger to be more honest with the fans and I think he needs support, especially in game play. He makes wierd substitutions and takes away the advantage we have.

Hi Ethan. It seems that 30 years of age is ok today mate.

  36. Big Raddy

Fair Point ET. Sheringham was truly one of the biggest twats ever seen in the EPL.

My cousin is a pro poker player and AFC season ticket holder. He reamed Sheringham out in a big game at Xmas. Made his year !

  37. El Tel

Got to take a break guys.

Will look in later. Sorry if my ranting got annoying but I hate the Mancs more than anything they are Classless.

  38. AFC53

AW has not showed any ambition for a while it must be nice when you can not fulfill your jobs requirement & still get payed an absolute packet.

I wish we were able to compete with the likes of the Chavs & Manure but we cant we are only 2-3 players away but my as well be 11 away

With the type of football we play we have become a modern day Newcastle (Keegans 1st time)

  39. rico01

    Be safe El Tel :)

On a lighter note, the team to surprise us all this season………??

Mine is Aston Villa – they have bought and bought, and quietly

  40. Get lost Helb

I wish i had a pound for every Gooner who said the Silvestre transfer wouldnt happen i would have £37.

A great signing for just £3/4 millon

  41. finestcuts

Rico, Villa are expected to do well, they’ll be fighting for fifth. Agbonlahor, Young, Barry, Laursen….O’Neill is a good manager, I expect a UEFA cup place for them at the end of the season.

  42. Matt

My suprise tip for the season is Boro – think they will do well…..

Andrade apparently signed for Rapid Bucharest this year?? strange one…

  43. HelsinkiGooner

rico, finest – i expect Villa to do very well this year, ending above Everton and spuds, and possibly taking 4th from the liver-shite. They’ve added quality, and done so fairly quietly, so no major expectations from them.

  44. finestcuts

Arsenal Tom, El Tel gave a tip off a few days back that Arsenal have spoken to Joao Paulo Andrade, no backup, just word of mouth….

  45. hounddog

El Tel. Yeah I hear what you are saying! It would have been nice if we could have gotten Frings as he is a midfielder that I rate very highly. Some German efficiency would do us some good.

  46. kelsey

Quick word on our magnificent performance at the Olympics, rowers, sailing, swimmers and cyclists,I confess I had never heard of most of them before but neverltheess years of dedicated training, getting up at all hours early in the morning with one aim in mind, to peak and be focused for these games. How nice to see them all without exception be so modest and humble in victory, something our overpayed, prima doona footballers could learn from

  47. hounddog

Morrowsbrokenarm. I agree. I think it will be a mistake to let Djourou go. That will only reduce the options that the purchase of Silvestre gives us.

  48. rico01

My REAL surprise team for the coming season, for all you on a low – in Arsenal to win the EPL, Russians 2nd Mancs 3rd…………….

    :)

  49. hounddog

Let’s get off of the Silvestre subject for a bit. I have a question for you all. Tony Adams was recently on Sky TV saying how much he would like to manage Arsenal one day. So really I have two questions.
    1. Is he a top club manager material?
    2. Should he be offered some sort of an assistant role now, maybe alongside Pat Rice in order for Wenger to groom him?

  50. Gooner07

    I concur with Big Raddy.

I’d rather be looking at Laudrup, Van basten, DB10 (unlikely for his fear of flying), Zico, etc.

  51. Arsenaldo

Hi gooners!I rarely do but this time I have to agree with everything U wrote Geoff. NOthing makes sense to me in this signing-totally gutted as I hate him as well. Hated him when played for Inter , hated him for manure, wont like him playing for us. Although he is better than eboye, and cant take his crown in this department…..noone can

  52. Geoff

Thanks Arsenaldo! I’m off for a while so if any new people come on I can’t release them from moderation, apologies in advance!

  53. ShotJIM

I like the sound of Gallas and Silvestre for big games and champions league. In theory they should work well together, letting everyone else attack and they both will get forward aswell.

  54. London

    Finest

You have been on fire today in putting the case for Silvestre; a view I share. I just wish I could have come up with the analogy of “It is like expecting a full English and a bowl of bran flakes arrives and you are told to like it because it is good for you.” LOL

  55. London

    Hound dog

TA was in charge of the Portsmouth defence on Sunday against the chavs and that was so naive it was embarressing.

  56. ArsenalKenya

Whether he is drawing on his own frustrations because he will never have access to the funds available to Scolari under Abramovich, or if this diatribe was a result of his four-nil drubbing courtesy of Chelsea, or perhaps its a mixture of both… but the cockney manager has sought to disparage any achievement Scolari will have as Chelsea manager.

Redknapp is quoted by the Sun as saying: “Any mug can go and buy loads of players for £20-30million. We could all buy the best players in the world if we had an open cheque book — my wife can even go and buy Kaka! But what I’m doing is called managing a football club.”

He continued: “I love looking around for loans and free transfers. I really enjoy that side of the job because that is real managing. So I will carry on trying to beg, borrow and steal to get one or two bodies who might do well for us.”

He concluded: “Clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea don’t have to do that — good luck to them.”

  57. choy

it really is taking the piss……………….. man citeh get kompany and we get silvestreee!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hell:

  58. cesc

dont worry about kompany, the kid is more injury prone than RVP.

I mean, he played in 28 matches for hamburg, in get this

    2 years!!!

  59. Paulinho

Does anyone actually know if Kompany is that great or are they basing everything on the fact he”s highly rated in football manager?

I bet 90 % of people who go on about him have never seen the guy play.

  60. rico01

choy – no problem, and you are welcome…

treze – i dont think he would get much action this season, so it will be good for him – Big T might even teach him how to defend better…

Kompany would have cost a lot more than Tweetie, and as already said, he is another crock, so it would be a gamble..

I am pretty happy with our current crop AS LONG as we get the DM we have been promised, I thought we might sort that out today

  61. rico01

Just outside Reading – takes ages to get home after a match, last time we didnt get home until nearly 10pm (i think) makes it such a long day – dont get to go as often as i would like, and im a Red Member only sadly –

Hey Ho – I watch as much as I can on Tv – so I can’t complain really

  62. goonermichael

There’s still red member tickets left for the toon match. It was the same at the beginning of the season last year. When the holidays finish it’ll get harder. Treze is it really easy with silver memberships? How do people get silver apart frome graduating from junior?

  63. rico01

gm – ah, my memory is not as bad as i thought, i remember looking up the website when you mentioned it before – You should shut on Saturdays on home games, surely your clients will understand!!!!

    :)

  64. treze13

arsenal vs hull tickets go on sale tomorrow, get on the site bright and early and you might be able to get some

  65. treze13

and yeah its really easy to get tickets on silver she goes to every game apparently because they can get tickets 2 months before the fixture

  66. goonermichael

Hull is on a saturday so I can’t go . Next midweek match is the spuds I’l definintely be on the site early for that one.
