Galatasaray? – Whose career is over? – lets all laugh at Spurs!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

You bet we will, them or Dynamo Moscow. We have 20 odd other teams that will be piss easy, but I bet we get the toughy, wouldn’t that be embarrassing to not even qualify.

Anyway a great weekend coming up where we’ll be meeting top opposition and then we’ll really see what we have in the tank.

I think that we may be sniffing around Veloso, he’s a defensive midfield player and a proven centre back, a Wenger type if there ever was one, young, adaptable and a class act.

Barry I wanted but it doesn’t look like it will now happen, and Kranjcar doesn’t look like he’s much better than what we have, but I haven’t seen a lot of him so I don’t know enough about him to drool really.

Bitchslap baffles me, how can Wenger know him and why is he any better than say Randall, Lansbury or Muamba? At least that mob weren’t injured, I think this is a weird one Arsene.

A big thanks you for the spuds wasting £17 million on an ego that was once rejected by the Arsenal, and thanks a lot for the £7 million that’s coming our way via Tottenham and Blackburn.

I would like to think we’ll put that to good use, but I know we won’t.

Oh and David, enjoy the Fairs cup, though I thought you said you were leaving for Champions league football, let me know what games you want to see and you can come with me, I have two tickets. Keep your gob shut though or you may go over the balcony, but it’s the only way you’ll be getting European Champions League football this season, you tosser.

They rate you so highly they gave you the number 5, knowing they still have someone coming in to wear your favourite number 10, how’s that for your ego, you twerp?

Well let’s keep ‘em crossed with the draw, keep ‘em crossed for that signing and keep ‘em crossed for the Emirates Cup.

Have a pleasant day Grovers.

P.S. Looks like the Kieth Wyness to Mallorca move fell through… did you know he is quite friendly with a member of the Carr family?

Did anyone see what Jens said about us being far greater than Manure and Chelski technically and footballing wise.

  2. ethangunner

    pat

Bjarni Þór Viðarsson is an everton player ..
most aussies would know Luke Wilkshire also ..
    Slobodan Rajković from chelsea
and Nikolay Mihaylov (on loan from Liverpool)

twente is full of young guns also !
tough draw considering we are only qualifying ..

you might be right pedro !

  3. rico01

twente have lostbtwo of their most experienced players, one being their main goal scorer – SSN’s and Mclaren

  4. Pedro

I rated Arshavin after the world cup, but you have to say this could be an epic mistake by spurs…

Could this be Rebrov number two?

He isn’t exactly a spring chicken either? I saw him as more of an attacking midfielder… where is there room for him in this new spurs team?

They scored the 2nd most goals in the league last year and finished in the bottom half of the league… the summer comes and all they’ve done is purchase midfielders and strikers!

Ethan, I think you said earlier that Wilshire has more about him than Cesc did at his age… I agree… he is so composed. I can see him being drafted during an injury crisis…

  5. Patrick7

Ethan – don’t do any martial arts. I did spend about 9 months at Alex.Palace boxing club just for the training aspect but I could see the money men lining me up to make money out of me so ducked out at that point. I might have done OK but who wants to end up like Ali! As I said before: speed skating until 30, 8 marathons (2-34′ best) then triathlons 38-50. Stopped competing nearly 8 years ago apart from against myself. My eldest lad 26 has just passed me I think in current running terms!

  6. ethangunner

    rico
    yes
sounds like a team we know :)

ill add that they have got a lot of talented youngsters coming thru the ranks trying to make a name for themselves .. also sounds like a team we know ?

like i said before we could of got an easier draw ..
lets hope arsene uses this weekend to get upto scratch !

  7. david

Bentley and Arshaver should get on well together.
Both have been lifelong supporters of Spurs, Arsenal and one other club..

Arsenal Kenya joke 9.39 are you sure???

  8. AFC53

What im bout to say please dont rip me about but in a small way im envious of the spuds.

Lets be honest wouldnt we all like to get players like Modric & Arshavin instead of Bischoff & Coqauvin!!!!

That is where we should be competing in the transfer market I know they sold Keane & sunderland BOGOF but wouldnt we all sell Ade if we were to go after Villa & Veloso????

  9. rico01

    Pedro

Couldnt agree more, where was he in the Russians last game?? He didnt turn up if I remember rightly.. Two great games and one dreadful…

  10. rico01

    AFC53

Arshavin or Coquelin – the latter
Modric or Bischoff – the former

    However, the above four or

    Arda
    Silva
    Veloso
    Vila

Then I would take the final four

  11. ethangunner

    pedro
id like to see jack bypass all the formalities and say replace eboue !
    outright ! ..

wenger needs to get tough .. sure let eboue replace flamini
for like 1 pre season friendly :) ..
and then drop him for jack :)

  12. AFC53

Thats were we should be in the transfer market competing fantastic facilities, stadium, manager, football but we go after players that may make the grade may not.

I personaal ywould love to feel the excitement of having world class players coming in like DB10 that sort of Buzz around the club would be great.

  13. ethangunner

    AFC53

    i agree totally
the spuds have recruited very very well ..
and i fear it .. the fear is very fucking real !

thats why i carry on like a pork chop !
who really wants us to drop out of the top 4 ?!
can we see our club taking the appropriate counter measures ?

wengers faith to a lesser extent has always been a downfall recently
and i think none of us here can forget the past 4 years ..
i cant really see the trend changing either ..

but i keep telling myself its only a game
    its only a game
    its only a game
    its only a game
    its only a game
    FUCK !

  14. david

It’s a shame Jack hasn’t been given a squad number before they released the new kit today as I think he would have been a popular choice (after Le Grove of course)..

  15. HelsinkiGooner

Ethan – try not to worry too much – despite some good signings, it’ll take time for this new spuds team to gel together. And don’t they spend big every summer? then sack the manager after 3 months? we’ve seen it all before – they’re shit and always will be shit!!

  16. AFC53

ETHAN its not a game this is our religion this is what we think about all the time we buy the shirts go to the games and although its a game Arsenal are our life & personally i see us getting left behind by the likes of spurs they have shown real ambition to make the top 4 we on the other hand ….

If you ask me AW is too arrogant to admit hes wrong here are a few examples.

    Eboue RW???
    Cygan Senderos CB?????
    Gallas captain material????
Ade & Lehmann taking the pi** with there comments about the club.

  17. ethangunner

    Pedro Says:

I rated Arshavin after the world cup, but you have to say this could be an epic mistake by spurs…

    id take the gamble :)
far better than signing bischoff or Coquelin
my point is arsene says he has the cash but cannot stunt his youth players by signing
an experienced player because it would deprave his youngsters there shot at furthering there careers .. then goes off and gets 2 players on free transfers ?!?

its all pointing to being cash strapped !
has he really got the money pedro ?
what is your take on my above question !?

  18. mark c

Spurs might have good players on paper but can they make a team.

    Will they play a European line up 4 2 3 1?

Can the players play that way?

  19. david

Spurs have given Bentley the no 5 shirt. DB5 thats an Aston Martin not a Bentley. They will be calling him James Bond next oh no..

  20. AFC53

I realise that big players do not mean they are going to succeed

    but Manure Tevez,
    Liverpool Barry,Keane
    Spurs Arshavin,Dos Santos,Modric
    Us Coqauvin,Bischoff,

Come on boss grow a pair We want Veloso,Villa,Silva.

  21. ethangunner

    markC
dont underestimate ramos , he couldn’t do much last year .
i rate him as 1 of the top 5 managers in the world !
and soon you’ll see why ..
he is getting rid of robbie keane and i bet your life unless berbatov goes at the right price he will start the season with him .. they had a team that wiped the floor with us 4-1 last time we played them ..
weve lost key players since , replaced them with juniors ..

you only have to look at the scenario without any passion and use logic only to see
… we should be really worried this season !

and its not just us Vs them ! .. its consistency throughout 38 games ..
and we haven’t been able to complete 1 season in the past 3/4 years being consistent
either injuries – loss of form .. what ever .. when arsenal hits a wall they really hit it hard .

  22. patthegooner

    It wont happen AFC53

    Seriously Bischoff was the signing

I am worried about the Spuds, the only thing is they have not addressed their defensive side……Yet and there is not a lot to them after the starting 11 but they have shown ambition in the Transfer window.

We Havent, if anything we have shown negtive ambition by allowing experience to leave without replacement.

It is groundhog season, this time last year I honestly thought we would surely sign someone before the Emirates Cup. This year I have learnt my lesson.

Wenger is playing another gamble and there is no need to gamble as we have the funds to adequately strengthen. It really pisses me off

Barca were just on SSN, Etoo is still for sale, why we are not swapping him with Ade is beyond me, but unfortunately it is not beyond Wengers Ego

  23. AFC53

To be honest when someone like Villa states he likes Arsenal and would welcome the chance to play in England what mor hints do we need?????

we should have been straight in there !

  24. Pedro

I don’t think Villa would have given us that much more than what we already have…

Could you justify £20million on a striker when you have RvP, Adebayor, Eduardo… plus Bendtner and Vela making progress?

We’d be better off blowing that sort of cash on a world class defender or a replacement for Flamini.

  25. Arsenaldo

ethan Im on your side about spuds . As I wrote last week for me they will be the surprise this season, and will get in top 4, but not instead of us .
I rate Ramos very much and they are getting really good squad this year. If they dont lose berbatov they could be gunning even for second spot IMO

  26. AFC53

I would have snapped Barcas or Milans hand off for Ade..

    RVP awesome but injury prone.
Eduardo who knows whether jell be back.
Bendtner & Vela both getting ther not finshed product yet.

I see wht your saying with the CB & DM we have needed a CB for the last 2 years though.

As for flamini the situation should never have got that far

  27. patthegooner

I just really dont understand how Wenger cant see that buying a Villa, or a Veloso or Zapata wont take us up the level to really test Chavski and Man Ure.

It looks like Chavski are closer to Robinho now, and whilst he is not worth 35m he is a bloody good player and he will bring them the width that maybe they lacked last summer too, and with Deco in the Middle they are my bet to win it.

Man Ure have stayed the same which means they are settled and have an extra year of experience as a unit under their belts. it think they will also get Berbatov who will bring them the goals that will help if Ronaldo is out of sorts.

Liverpool too have strengthened, they have bought in L and RB cover and Keane is filling the gap of the player that was needed to play alongside Torres

The pattern here is that the other top four clubs have identified their weaknesses from last season and have addressed them, whilst we admitadely take gambles on more youth players.

Surely Wenger realises this is his last chance. He once said himself that it was unacceptable about Real Madrid not winning la liga for four years, now he faces the same situation.

  28. rico01

Come on Guys – lets get away from the spuds, lets worry about them when we play them, and when ALL (;) ) our transfers have been signed…………

  29. Arsenaldo

I dont thing we have a problem in attack, even if we lost ade and not replaced him. But we need 1 DM, 1CB and 1 world class goalie. Its so simpple. I thing we have great team , and with just 3 more players it would be unbeatable. We are so close , and so away from this as we wont buy them .

  30. ArsenalKenya

Spurs will be no where come may next season. So stop worrying about them even though Ramos is a good coach… Wenger knows what he is doing and even if we would have bought Villa where could the likes of vela and walcott played. With a fit Rosicky that moves Walcott upfront as a striker not forgetting we have Nik B, RVP,Ade,Eduardo, Vela,Walcott to play in those postions. What we need is a versatile player like VELOSO who is a Defensive Midfielder and can also play as a Centre Back.

Even though his price tag is almost 16M , Wenger might go for him since he is young, proven and can intergrate well in the team. But dont be shocked if this INLER guy is the player Wenger plans to buy…….

Bitchslap will step up and you never know…having gotten him for free the player might be wanted later for more than 20M…..Injuries are part of the game

  31. Pedro

Guys, I don’t know how you can think that Veloso or Zapata are that good? One plays for Udinese sparingly and the other plays for Sporting Lisbon… hardly world class signings are they?

Spurs doing ok will hardly be surprising will it?

If I went out and spent £10k on clothes, you might expect me to do a little better with the ladies… but it’s not as simple as spunking a load of cash is it?

I remember Leeds going out and buying everything that moved, Lazio doing the same, Madrid with the Galactico’s and Barca last season… it all equates to nothing if they don’t gel. There is massive expectation at the lane, as usual, I expect it to stay at expectation.

How do we know Modric will be brilliant? Dos Santos is a similar signing to Theo, except he has never played on these shores, Gomez is a clown and Arshavin has interested only one club… Spurs. Bentley, for all his media praise has avoided the attention of Arsenal, Liverpool, ManU and Chelsea… so, like me, they all think he is over rated and over priced. He is Pennant without an Alcohol problem.

Lets not get to excited over team that has been put together in one summer.

Where as Arsenal are looking sharp in preseason, we have more options this year, we have a captain with something to prove, we have a few more kids who will want to make the grade and we have Nasri… a player most of us thought we’d never get.

We are in good shape and I think with one more additional signing, we will contest the title again.

  32. rico01

Yes, I do believe we will sign – and I think it will be two.

Havent a clue who they will be, because AW seldom buys players we all talk about, so I anticipate a surprise. My hope though is that the two players are big players as he puts it.

No doubt something is going on now, and the paps will not know until we do….

So yes, I am keeping hope

  33. AFC53

I believe we are only 2 players away from a gret side and if I had my way I would have

CB – Richards Quick,Strong,a true Gooner @ heart.
CM – Veloso Good tackler, reader of the game,

DM – as a gamble Drenthe from real madrid quick, likes a tackle, if he plays tomorrow he is just the type of player we would need would to make a good DM

  34. patthegooner

Maybe not world class Pedro but they are better that what we have got and lets face it the World Class options are Essien and Gerrard, and Vidic and Terry but we hardly likely to get them.

Zapata and Veloso have the opportunity to be World Class though.

Barca have also just confirmed that if they get rid of Etoo they may be back in for TT

So lets get this right, Etoo is world class, we want rid of TT, but first someone needs to get Etoo

Come on Wenger it is not Rocket Science

  35. david

    Hutton, Gilberto and Woodgate. Pat

West Ham had a good set of individial players and they got relegated that’s what I’m hoping for the Spuds..

  36. mark c

David, The Gilberto that Spurs have got is awful.

He was put into the first team and looked out of place.

I dont think he liked the pace

  37. Pedro

Eto’o is a great player, no doubt… but in Ade you have a healthy striker. What is the point in Eto’o for a few games here and there… that is what RvP is for!

Ade is going no where this year…

  38. david

Mark he didn’t play his first game in the PL until the end of April, even Weger says give the players 6 months..

He is a Brazil international he must be okay..

  39. patthegooner

Ade will never be the same Pedro, his desire is no longer at the club, and he will not get the wages to pay for his ego.

Just look at Etoo’s career stats, Even last year when he was injured a bit he still scored 20 goals, 91 in a 139 for Barca

You are right though and I agree with you, Ade is going nowhere which sucks

  40. Pedro

What would satisfy you more though Pat… Ade performing badly and Nikki B taking on the burden with a 25 goal haul… or Ade leaving for Barca and getting his £110k a week?

  41. rico01

The reason I would take and Ade/Eto swap –

Ade has let us all down, and I think his head has been turned, maybe this season he will stay, but come Jan and next summer we will have same old again

Eto, he could come in and score a bucket load of goals this and the next few seasons, its unlikely that he would want to move on as he is getting older. imho

This would give Nik a fresh strike partner (who will celebrate with him and pass to him), and a chance for the likes of Vela, Theo and even Simpson and Sunu, Ru Fonte to gain experience and age to come through. Add to that the goals of RvP and Dudu and our strike force will be settled and a lot more productive.
He also knows ‘how to win’

Dont get me wrong – this is only because of the stupid actions of Ade over the last month or so, and the bloody awful headbutt.

  42. patthegooner

    Can I have both Pedro?

I am looking at a Etoo and Bendtner partnership. At the moment we have a situation where Ade and Bendtner cant play together but an etoo swap would allow a mix between any two of Nic, Eduardo, Etoo and RVP.

  43. Patrick7

AFC53 – I know you like to put in negative posts but complete the facts:

we’ve signed: Ramsay, Coquelin, Nasri and Bischoff with at least one more to come.

Why do many on here not spell our player’s names correctly? I can understand one’s that you take the pee out of because they deserve it but Coquelin has made a brilliant contribution already IMO and Bischoff’s doing his best to contribute this season. You seem to take more care over rival clubs players than our own star/lets.

I understand some of this might be frustration but the next fortnight will clearly show our expectations both with who we’re meeting and who’s been brought in.

  44. patthegooner

Also with Etoo we would not be faced with transfer speculation every summer, he already commands a big wage and has already done Barca and Real. We could take advantage of his 27yr old experience and get a good 3 years out of him whilst the others grow up

  45. patthegooner

    Pat7 yes it is frustration

Coq Au vin has looked good but against a couple of average almost amateur outfits. He is not considered 1st team at this time

Bischoff is a gamble and Wenger has admitted that.

everyone keeps saying lets see what happens in the next two weeks, so should we just stop blogging for two weeks until it happens?

A few of us are not convinced it will happen as it seems oh so similar to this time last year.

  46. HelsinkiGooner

I like the idea of Eto’o for 2-3 seasons, while RvP, Bendtner, Eduardo and Walcott get better and more experienced. BUT, doesn’t he have a massive attitude problem or something?

Then again, Ade’s attitude may be more worse after his shit this summer….

  47. mark c

    David,

Who was the CB who played for Brazil that went to Leeds.

    He was shocking.

But he was still picked by Brazil.

Certain players cant cope with the EPL, even if you give them 6 years.

  48. Patrick7

I’m just asking for everyone to give them the respect they deserve. If they visited the site to see what goes on in their relaxation time they wouldn’t think much of their ‘supporters’ and THEIR loyalties would they?

  49. Pedro

I was thinking of renaming the Rosicklist, the Bisch List… what do you reckon?

I am not sure where all this knee stuff comes from… he has had one bad season with injury… I am pretty sure his career is not over?

I’d love him, but he would command a starting position and I think that would dent morale and competition. At least the strikers we have now will all fancy themselves for a starting berth…

  50. Trinidad_Gunner

Van Der Vaart for 8 Million is a steal, but he had a clause in his contract saying next year he could leave for 1.5 M

Real wanted him and he wanted to link up with his Dutch mates at Madrid. Him and Sneijder are good pals from Ajax days.

I said it last year that Arsene is probably grooming Eboue for the CDM position. Think about it … Right back, turned into winger, then moved to CDM. It has Wenger written all over it !

  51. Patrick7

TG – could be the case. The next signing could give us a clue by their limitations e.g. if it’s Alonso we know that’s not the plan. Maybe Eboue’s just our low grade (at present) cover player.

Heard any injury news on Senderos, Diaby or Sagna anyone? Are they injured?

  52. patthegooner

I would like to think they were big enough to realise that they are not the signings that we are after for the first team. I also think they are intelligent enough to see the difference between banter and frustration of fans and take note of any constructive criticism they read on here.

I think if they did read the blogs then Coq Au Vin would be quite happy with what everyone has written about it him after the two games he has played. I am also sure he knows himself that he is not the finished article.

Likewise Bischoff. How can we get excited about Wenger admiting that the signing is a complete Gamble. How does Bischoff feel about that statement

Apart from Nasri all of the signings are not really going to feature next season or at least they shouldn’t

  53. david

Mark: Yes, but you have only given him 2 weeks in the EPL he has played 6 games and scored one goal (and a own goal) thats as many as Eboue and more than Clichy already..

Roque Junior played for Leeds but he also won the Champions League and the World cup.

  54. Pedro

Patrick, if a footballer visits the site in his spare time, he is doing it for an ego boost.

We’re not here to massage ego’s, we’re here to vent our opinions.

They’ll get respect when they earn it as far as I am concerned…

  55. Patrick7

Pedro – you’d better keep it as the Rosicky list.

Our transfer in list could be the Bischlist as opposed to our Wishlist!

  56. patthegooner

Oh and Pat7 you criticise some on here for posting about the new kids on the block and then you slate Eboue, calling him a low grade cover player

Dont get me wrong, I agree with you but please think about Eboue’s feelings :)

  57. mark c

Re Spuds Gilberto, I seem to remember that they lost to PSV due to his poor defending.

I am not bothered by Spurs.

They lack players who have experience of winning things.

Ramos seems a great manager, but a cup manager, who will struggle playing 2 games a week in October, November, March and April.

  58. Trinidad_Gunner

I can’t see how Bitchslap is the signing Wenger was referring to. He said we needed one more for the first team. He has confirmed that this guy is a gamble, he’s staying in the reserves for 3 months, and only has a 1 year contract. Thats not first team.
    Still expecting one more.

  59. david

Mark I was answering Pats point that Spurs have not addressed the defence but Ramos has bought three players to fill the four positions..
I hope they are total shit too..

  60. Patrick7

Coquelin’s got my respect for what he’s contributed so far. Hope he’s fit to return this weekend. He looked a good addition to the SQUAD on the brief time we’ve seen of him.
I think Ramsay and Wilshere will also make that squad.

  61. Pedro

I would hope he doesn’t have to prominent a role this year Patrick…

A 17 year old playing the holding role? I think that would be detrimental to his game.

Diaby I could just about handle, but Ramsey in the first team…? Well, that wouldn’t be good would it?

    * Patrick, you might be good at spelling the French boys names, but Ramsey is spelt with an E not an A! :-)

  62. Patrick7

I stand corrected. I thought he spelt it with the A!

I didn’t mean to play a full 90 but to be on the bench perhaps and brought on for the last 20′ or so like we used Walcott. AW will know by then what they can handle but we could save the first team’s legs by using them with caution.

  63. Pedro

Well, we do have 7 subs this year…

    What about Jay Simpson?

Trinidad, I think Diaby is all set for a starring role this year!

  64. El Tel

The Barca guy didn’t say anything about Ade except that he is one of the 5 best strikers in the world.

MUTV (SSN) turn that into Barca still interested in Ade. Sell him to them for 15/20 Mill and give the Spuds 25/30 Mill for Berba, Berba will be a better bet than Etooe and if RVP fucks off to Italy after staying fit for a season we will still be strong. The likes of Vela/Walcott and Eduardo will be the opposite to Bendtner/RVP or Berba.

Ade should just be binned,we are not desperate like the Mancscum are with the winker, let our traitor sod off.

  65. El Tel

Van Der Vart signs for Real that could mean Robinho to the Chavs.

The Mancscum are going to have a sulking little child in their team next season, they see that as a success but I would hate it if he played for us.

  66. Patrick7

Apparently Song did well in the Olympics against Holland. They subbed him in the 70th minute and lost 2 goals in the last 20 as a result. He’d saved them previously.

Another few results like that and he’ll be home.

  67. El Tel

All those people who think the Spuds will be better because of the signings they make should think that 7 new players will take time to settle and by the time they do it will again be to late for them. Next year they will sign even more and that will take time again.

The top four all have players who are settled there for years.

  68. patthegooner

    Sorry I popped out

    Yes Pat 7,

As Pedro says, I dont want to see too much of Ramsey this year as it will mean that we did not strengthen adequately enough to be considered genuine challengers.

I like Ramsey a lot but I dont think he is ready for a holding role

with the addition of 7 subs I would like to see both Ramsey and Wilshire getting the odd outing but not week in week out.

  69. El Tel

I fucking hate anything sky. Yesterday MUTV (SSN) showed Gazzas semi goal against us and today its Giggs semi goal against us with that Cunt Kidd who played for us saying it was one of the greatest goals of all time.

  70. rico01

El Tel – thankfully i missed that for the cricket…

    As for Gilberto………………….

There will only ever be ONE Gilberto, Gilbert O’Silva :)

  71. rico01

No El Tel, just being cheeky, what a man, what a player, sometimes I wish he had played instead of Flamini, but the Copa Cup (or what ever it was called last summer) truely took it out of him -

  72. Evo in Oz

afternoon/evening all! 4 mins to midnight here, just home from the pub!

bentley is a cock with ears and i will take his cash to spend on a season ticket in bergy’s box!

Lehmann’s comments were spot on with the exact science of who moves on to become shite, etc.

El Tel – whats happening out in the shed this arvo, any beers?

  73. Pedro

Evening Evo – Afternoon El Tel!

Rico, Berto was a great player and I think he still had something to offer…

  74. AFC53

Pat7 the posts i put in are fact we have a great side but have needed a commanding CB for 2 years now as we cannot shut teams out.Liverpool,Chelsea,Man utd all found that out

As for me wanting a DM we need one now due to the fact we did not tie Flamini down who along with Sagna & Clichy was our most consistent performer last year.

I wouldnt say its negative its bloody frustration!!

  75. insidealbania

    AFC 53,
I think frustration has been the feeling this summer and the last. As fans we can see what is needed but the fact that these needs are not addressed is what prolongs this frustration. And I have to add that negativity from the media does not help us at all.

  76. AFC53

We are all mushrooms AW comes out in may and says in the next 2 weeks I will sign 2-3 players….

That is what frustrates us being kept in the dark and fed horse shit like I said …Mushrooms

  77. Patrick7

I was referring to the other posts. Couldn’t agree more with the above. I don’t think anybody’s argued more for Flam than me (since I’ve been on this site) and his qualities that will be missed: tackling, ruggedness, leadership, fighting other’s battles, will to win…………………………….until his legs dropped off: injury!

I’ve yet to see the improvement that most have said is EASY to find (at a large cost)! Still hoping on Veloso, more on others vouching for him I admit; never seen him play, as he can do the DM bit this year and move to CB (his 1st position: Wiki) when necessary.

  78. choy

lol at your mushroom comment…. AFC 53..

but we’re almost there you know.. one or two players and we’re set…

it is even more painful when you are so close and yet so far… just 4 points away from glory last year… and unless we get in at least a CB or a DM.. it may be even further away!!!

  79. Evo in Oz

    gday pedro and all.

i say fuck a DM we have shitloads of midfielders, even song is considered both. i defy anyone on here to classify his status. eboue – midfield and back. djourou allegedly a midfield and CB…come on, fuck buying this DM person and just buy a sol Campbell and be done with it~

  80. rico01

Pedro – He is the only one I truely believe we will miss, he had proved himself over many seasons with us, and never complained, never asked for more money etc, as far as i remember.

He was solid, and popped up with the odd goal, and he was no one season wonder. I rated him and still do, big time…

  81. Patrick7

Unfortunately, if AW laid out all his plans and targets, our rivals, especially the one down the road would be after them too. All he can do is lay false trails unless we want to pay double the price for his gems!

Mind you he could say to us: dont believe anything I say during the summer as I’m just entertaining the media: feeding them SHIT!

  82. choy

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty’s Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five year phase-in plan that would be known as “Euro-English”.

In the first year, “s” will replace the soft “c”. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard “c” will be dropped in favour of the “k”. This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome “ph” will be replaced with “f”. This will make words like “fotograf” 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be ekspekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent “e”s in the language is disgraseful, and they should go away.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing “th” with “z” and “w” with “v”. During ze fifz year, ze unesesary “o” kan be dropd from vords kontaining “ou” and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi to understand ech ozer. Ze drem vil finali kum tru! And zen world!

  83. AFC53

Choy your spot on we are only 2 palyers away and its so close we can all taste it….

I believe this year it will be harder though, will Ades heart be into it

If cash is a problem we should have gone for Melberg from Villa who defends like his life depends on it he isnt world class but when we have played Villa he used to hold the defence together he is also different to everything we have just like Keown,

  84. rico01

    Pedro,

Havent seen enough of Nasri yet, but if he scores 5 goals, its a massive improvement on Hleb, Also cant Ramsey play a Hleb role – he looks very promising and has settled quickly

    Hleb – WHO?????

  85. Patrick7

AFC53 – We have more talent, a multi-pronged attack (with wingers) and some cover for our ‘sicklisters’. If we get the CB/DM option we’ll be VERY competitive.
Chelski will be the main opposition I feel.

  86. insidealbania

Pedro, for me watching Hleb was as frustrating as watching Eboue, but for different reasons.
I am happy with him gone, at least there will be more shots on goal. Also we will be more direct in our counter attacks as well.

  87. Pedro

I didn’t watch the Stuttgart game Rico, so I can’t really comment. I am excited about him though and I am excited about Traore out on the left as well!

We have a lot of options this year and it feels like we are better equipped than last year for some reason?

We do need a couple of heads in there though, just to make sure.

  88. david

Just looking on arse.com no physio appointed yet but Gary Lewin has been removed from the site
How long has Boro Primorac been the first team coach I have never heard of him?

  89. patthegooner

I want to see Nasri on one wing and Rosicky on the other, they could be our Ljungberg and Pires.

Agree with everyone just two players……..Please Arsene

One DM and one Commanding CB and we are there. but if we dont then it is the difference between potentially 1st and potentially 4th

  90. timao

Anyone else think the Bischoff deal is a pretty smart piece of business? As far as I know he won’t cost us anything and the most we can lose is a year of his wages – if he comes good though we can either play him or sell him on to Portsmouth for five-million.

  91. AFC53

Patrick we are a great footballing side who struggle to shut teams out we could be a modern day newcastle!!!!

They had the same problems the first time Keegan was there I just dont want to look back in a couple of years & think that we have missed out with the talent we have.

  92. andy c

can anyone recommend a bar to watch the games in bangkok this weekend? Any bars in koh samui is well as im off for 3 weeks, cheers!

  93. rico01

dennis – that its the mutts nutts, if it really does happen I would laugh from now until Christmas……….

so who are we going to tie up then????

  94. Arsenaldo

Song been impressive against holland obviously today , but as DM. Wonder if he is so good as such why not replace flam for us and buy one CD, and we go on and smash teams:))

  95. Patrick7

AFC53 – Agreed, especially as after this season IF we don’t start winning we will lose some of our real stars. They have been patient too bar ONE I can think of.

  96. Naijagunner

Why do we keep slating Wenger for saying he’ll give us a signing within 2 – 3 weeks. Hey, maybe that was the plan before things changed. I’m sure Benitez could have sworn he’d have Barry within 2 – 3 days, but we can all still see what’s happening.

Somehow I just can’t be scared of the spuds because, as usual, they’re strengthening their attack (which was okay if you ask me) and neglecting their defence that was full of crocked/inept players. If they think the King/Woodgate partnership can last a full season, their management can have a good life doing stand up comedy.

As for Liverpool…….they’ll always be liverpool. Buy enough players to make your head spin, try to get them to blend, sell them off at the end of the season because they could not blend while you were rotating them in and out off the pitch.

Chelsea and United are a different proposition altogether. Wenger’ll have to work top get those two out of the way. One smashing centre back and we’re ready.

  97. timao

Wenger has said one definite thing during the transfer window – he’s not buying a defender. or an attacker. ok that’s two things. and the midfield is stocked. so the one player coming in must be a goalkeeper?

  98. dennisdamenace

rico – I just like to think that in some small way we’ve helped to fuck up ManUre, you gotta love Marca (aka Real’s bum hole) god bless ‘em all…….

  99. ethangunner

i personally think vito is rubbish ..
i think we need another goalie ..
if fab2 or alumina gets injured we are thin in the department
also .. i think ade will still be sold so i think 4 are still needed ..
but i think if we do get a CD it wont be one who is Experienced and 25+
toure and gallas are obviously our main 2 this season ..

but a DM with experience like barry is key..

  100. patthegooner

We are pissed at Wengers 2-3 week comment Becuase it happens every year. If things have changed why has he not released an updated statement?

Oh and no I dont think Bischoff is good business. it is as Wenger says a gamble and the odds are stacked against us

He is on a one year deal, we pay his way for a year, if he is shit or cant shake the injuries we have wasted a years wages on him. If he is any good, he is eligible for a free transfer and will probably fuck off to Barcelona.

  101. Arsenaldo

just been to arse.com to check reserves , and they haveng got even a picture of wilshere . we need to get someone in the it deparment as well obviously

  102. Arsenaldo

I guess we r not paying bischoff any good money . more like he is been promised good contract at the end of the year if he is fit and proved worth his salary. And dont think we r that stupid to let him go next year very easy if he proves to be any good .
So I dont thing its bad bizness

  103. dennisdamenace

Arsenaldo – So, if AW has said he doesn’t wanna buy experienced players as they with stifle the progress of the young players, why has he taken on this numpty Bitchslap? What’s he gonna do, play in the first team to get his match sharpness back at the expense of these very same young players, fucking tosh is what it is………

  104. patthegooner

He is on a one year contract Arsenaldo, he can just walk out

Not saying he will but the potential to do it is.
