We are a big club maybe not as big as some, but still big nonetheless, but we are vulnerable due to our previous non-competitiveness and lack of trophies. Clubs in this mode usually have others circling around them like vultures. Liverpool went through this, as did Barcelona (they were so weak that they had their best player in Figo taken off them by their rivals). It would be like Man U taking Cesc off us. I’m sure there are other examples. Until we start winning again, we will eb vulnerable to all these clubs looking to offer our players more money etc.
Now I know why Wenger didn’t let Adebayor go for any price – it was the principle of it. That these clubs thought they could tap a player of ours up (especially one with a few years still on his contract) and then decline to pay our asking price (the same crap Madrid wanted to pull with C. Ronaldo). No way would we let him go for less than what Wenger asked for. To get these players the other clubs would have to hope that Wenger wants to sell at a reasonable price or the player is out contract.

as much as i dislike ade , boo’ing is definitely not the way to go ..
