My wish list for Arsene Klaus…

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Looking good!

The news (or rumour today) is that Hleb has agreed a deal with Barca, and that Ade will not be too far behind, I hope it’s true but I have a feeling Ade had really pissed Wenger off and he’ll be going nowhere, if it were my call they would both be gone, it’s not so I’m doing a wish list in the hope the boss may read it and take notice of this fans wishes, so here goes, the list…

I want David Bentley, N’Zogbia and Obefemi Martins, with Pascal Cygan brought back to shore up the defence with big Phil. Give Eboue a pay rise and play him out wide instead of Theo.

OK that was for the AKB’s and to ensure some of you would be throwing up in your shreddies! This is the real list!

David Seaman says 6′ 4″ Almunia is good enough, so that’s good enough for me. Bring in Barry for Flamini and bring Diaby in to deputise, we won’t get Villa as that will cost too much so at 6′ 3″ I would go for Santa Cruz in place of spiderman Adebayor.

Arshavin for Hleb won’t happen so I’ll stick with Nasri and maybe the cameo role from Wilshere as back up.

I would get a centre back but I really can’t see that happening as he came out and said a flat out no.

Maybe big Phil or Djourou will step up, don’t forget centre backs come on late in life and those two are still babies.

I think we have enough forward options in Theo, Vela, Eduardo, RVP and Bendtner so a swap with Ade for the big guy should do it, don’t forget we almost did it last term, the kids are no longer kids, we do have a team spirit and Nasri for me will be a revelation, so three in and three out plus Vela may be enough, but he needs to bring in Barry, who in my opinion will be like having a young Lampard, English and stylish and can tackle.

It would also be nice to watch England with a few Arsenal boys in the team for a change. Also nice to stick one on the scousers too.

O’Neill hates Benitez and really likes Hoyte so it wouldn’t be too expensive, if we can’t get Barry then maybe YaYa for Ade plus cash.

It has to be this week so let’s keep ‘em crossed, one more week of this shit and we get to doing match reports again, so get ready.

A big thank you to all you Grovers yesterday who got back on track being mates, so well done, we had twice as many new people as AKB’s so that was neat too, let’s just hope we can do the South Africans today and start the week off on a positive note.

Have a hopeful and fruitful week Grovers, this is the countdown!

To be honest, i think £12m for Hlenb is actually a fair price, it pains me to say it, but the knob has been with us for three years and done fuck all, so we’re getting our money back. So, c’mon it’s not as if he’s set the EPL alight, £12m for 11 goals in three seasons!

  2. andy c

    charybdis

meant to say uzbekistan, and the team is “Kuruvchi” whoever they fucking are? its on their website apparently, made me laugh anyway

  3. dennisdamenace

Actually it’s £12m upfront, and then another £3m depending on performances/results etc, whatever the fuck that’s supposed to be?

  4. charybdis1966

Andy C, lord knows we need a laugh nowadays – if only to distract from us being laughed at by Spuds/Chavs/Mancs.

  5. GMR

    BB,

I bet all the expensive units were bought by millionaires anyway, most of them probably don’t even need a mortgage. Others will buy to let so again won’t be that affected.

I’ll be very surprised if they have any real problems with Highbury Square, not only that but as I pointed out in the past all the debt (apart from the 125 million bank loan which has to be repaid next Sept ’09) is in the bonds so its not an issue. I still think the only issue they might have is raising the 125 million to pay the loan but that aside they haven’t got any financial problems!! I’m sure Kroenke could bail them out if needed with a short term loan!!

  6. SIMON MCAHON

c,mon Geoff dont waste one of our wingers spots try coco, at the CM spot we have got now flamoney’s gone .

  7. charybdis1966

Anyone seen the Fiszman interview on ATV online ? I wonder how he’s going to explain away what seems like a massive fiddle/con played on us mug punters.

  8. BB

GMR .. I hope you are right ..

would add though that I hope that we dont have too many buy to letters in there

you know what I mean .. I think they will go down in a flush

all these boys will take their money out .. rather lose a deposit than getting an unaffordable mortgage with rents going south

you see .. overpriced flats in a crap area in current buy to let scenario .. have you seen that the UK’s biggest B2L lender is on the verge of getting one up its bum .. B&B not to mention them ..

didnt know we had a 125MM loan due in sep 2009 .. thought all our debt was l/t now.. damn it

  9. Raif

hello Lads & well done gunner_fever.

first of all. 15mill and Eto. i think thats worth taking me thinks as a few days ago we was saying Eto and 5mill. so an extra 10 mill is a very nice deal in my view. lets hope his Knees can last the season.

i think we should Forget Arse-Shavings, were 3rd choice club for him so i say fuck him. and clearly out rightly said. “I WANT TO PLAY FOR BARCELONA”
now what happens if he has a amazing season for us. Barca will come Knocking and that would be another player Linked to Barca for the whole summer. its not worth it

as for Rat Face Bently Wenger see’s him as more of a central attack midfielder/forword somthing along the lines of DB10.
but somthing more of a poor mans Look’a'like version in my view.
so thats another reason why Wenger wont be buying Bently. so forget about him aswell

  10. GMR

    BB,

When they refinanced the stadium debt into the bonds they took out a 125 million pound loan on a 38 month term. The interest rate was pretty good on that loan as well.

My personal opinion is that the board are being tight this year to make sure they have the money available to pay it. I reckon thats where the 70 million is going that Edelman talked about.

From Jan 2010 Arsenal will have no excuse not to spend. You could argue that next summer they wouldn’t have any excuse but they’ll still argue the payment has to be made in Sept which conveniently takes them past the transfer window!!

  11. charybdis1966

So GMR, did he pull the wool over our eyes and make us feel we can now compete in the transfer market now we’ve been at the grove for 2 years ?
Someone is geting very rich out of our support for AFc and we aint getting the respect from the board we deserve.
But then every clubs board treat their fans with disdain.

  12. Raif

hahaha did you read that rubbish. ill pull some quotes from the Artical were i laughed most.

“The wantaway Cameroonian obviously heard that PFC Kuruvchi finished second in last year’s Uzbek League”

“he has been anounced as a new signing on their extremely well-written website”

“they also claim that Xavi, Puyol and Iniesta are heading over to the former Soviet nation”

  13. ethangunner

    BB-GMR

irrespective of Spend or don’t spend ..
arsene whilst in power wont spend he will jeopardize the advancement of his youth !
He has already said he has money available .. but thinks that if he gets in new players it isnt fair on the young ones coming thru !

I would expect a DM (as we are light on )and STRIKER to replace the Merc…
    and thats it!!!
    all over ..
and this scenario will repeat itself every year as arsene has so much
Potential coming thru for years to come that we will hear the same banter every year
    to come….

I havent kept up with the transfer news & i wont believe it until i see a cunt holding a red shirt ! eto’o cruz zapata barry .. we surely aint buying them all ..
so id say 90% of it is just media idle banter ..

  14. Pedro

    Evening all,

    Anything exciting happened?

I’ve just been listening to Wrighty and Durham… Durham doesn’t even put any effort into concealing the fact he is trying to get people to call in.

He was saying ManU were holding Ronaldo prisoner and that Lee Westwood would trade all his golfing successes for one open.

    What a prat.

Anyway… newsnow is starting to look a bit familiar! Just minus the Nasri stories…

No Hleb press conference today then?

  15. GMR

    charybdis,

He didn’t really talk about Wenger (just a passing mention really) or competing in the transfer market. He was more going on about how they’d had a thousand functions over the past year at the Emirates. He also spoke about the price increases being in the interest of the fans because they didn’t want to have to spring a massive increase in a year or two’s time.

Just a load of bollocks really!!

  16. ethangunner

how can you hold anyone prisoner when they are sitting on a beach somewhere in a tropical paradise with a hot looking girlfriend jumping all over you whilst earning 120 k week ..

if thats jail life .. put me away NOW !

doesnt HE realize HE signed a contract .. ???

  17. chris

An official spokesperson for the Nou Camp side said: “Nobody at the club knows anything about this. I don’t think it’s very likely.”

  18. Pedro

haha… just read it! That is a funny story!

Durham is a prick… contracts should be beneficial to both parties. If ManU want to keep him, they should be able to, after all, they’d have to pay his wages if he’d done a cruciate this summer.

His girlfriend is pretty hot, there is not doubting that. Mind you, can’t be hard when you earn that sort of wedge!

Ethan regarding your earlier post… do you think Wenger uses the money thing as an excuse to pursue his grand design?

  19. London

GMR, the club claim that 90% of the flats of Highbury Square have been sold, that is a deposit has been paid. What percentage do you think are still going to go ahead with the purchase? People who intended to “buy to let” do so on the basis that the price of property will continue rising, which obviously isn’t happening at the moment and is unlikely in the foreseeable future, so they will pull out. Millionaires are not that interested in living in that part of Islington so if they were buying as an investment they would have changed their minds. My guess is that there are only 50% of those flats that are still wanted. The club is not as flush as it hoped to be. Financially the club are acting on a computer equivalent to safety mode.

  20. Arsenal Tom

the fizman interview was a joke… barely a mention of football in the whole thing his proudest moment… sarkozy… not beating chelsea? not going unbeaten? not the complete out classing of milan?? even the interviewer had a little giggle at him… what a joke

  21. Pedro

    Is everyone sure about this?

I don’t think the deposit is low enough to just give it up…

Also, the flats are in London, the area is developing, Holloway road area is supposed to be quite up and coming and it is down the road from upper street. The flats are close to the station as well… perfect!

Prices from £325,000… I doubt it is first time buyers buying them… I bet there are plenty of rich business men, footballers and banks who have put money down on them.

  22. London

    Tom

Don’t you think it would be more of a concern if Fiszman started meddling in the football side of things.

  23. GMR

London, I don’t agree with you. Sure prices are falling & some people will pull out, thats a fact. Investors however are not stupid, I’ve been doing that exact thing for years now.

Long term the prices WILL go up & people know that. Its the same with small time charlie’s on the stock market that invest in stocks, see them go down the next day then panic & take a loss, then realise just how stupid they’ve been.

I’ll be shocked if more than 10-15% of the people that have bought pull out. Regardless of that though if 50% sell then Arsenal will still be in profit, will still be able to pay the 125 million loan. The rest of the debt is covered by the Emirates income.

So if Arsenal have to sit on 50% of the units it won’t be costing them hardly anything & they can wait until the market picks up. That money was only going to be profit, it just means they won’t be able to pay off the floating rate bond & give Wenger an extra 50 million to spend!!

  24. ethangunner

    PEDRO

do you think Wenger uses the money thing as an excuse to pursue his grand design?

Anything is possible , knowing that our board is stingy … and maybe even cash strapped, it could be just a smoke screen to protect them and the club … But i suppose youve either got to believe in what your doing or you dont .. If you say a lie often enough sooner or later you start to believe its the truth …

i believe ,that wenger believes his grand design must be followed thru ! its too late to turn back for him .. and if he did it would be an admission of defeat ..

Its becoming a fine line currently between a grand design and a total fuck up ..
1 things for sure .. this season will expose him as a genius or insane ..

me personally i think it takes too long to manufacture young talent .. that can turn around and leave quicker than it can be manufactured .. thats why the big clubs BUY EXPERIENCE !
to cut down on the down time !

  25. Pedro

GMR, Geoff would say the same thing… If you are rich enough to purchase a £500,000 penthouse… do you really care about a short term blip in the house market?

You never lose on property unless you are short term… right? Who buys a flat there for the short term? It is like a fashion accessory to have a flat there… it’s not like you’d move in there to do it up and sell it on in a year…

  26. London

    Pedro

I am sure there are still wealthy busineessmen who have put down a deposit for a property worth £325, 000. The problem is that they may only be worth £250,000 in two years time so it is worth pulling out now. The other thing is that it is not that difficult to get a deposit back. Only 50% of those properties are still wanted.

  27. London

Why pay £500,000 on a penthouse this year when you can get the same penthouse for £400,00 next year.

  28. chris

Arsenal director Danny Fizman has defended an increase of 4.5% in season tickets prices at the Emirates Stadium.

After a four-year price freeze, the cost of the cheapest ticket has risen from £885 to £925 for next season.

The hike means Arsenal’s prices are £275 more expensive than the next highest club, Liverpool, but Fizman insists tickets remain good value.

“There are often comparisons made and we seem to be expensive, but it’s never apples for apples,” he said.

“Our season tickets include cup and Champions League games, which other clubs charge extra for.
In fact they charge a premium for them. Our prices should be judged in that way rather than on the pure top line number.
He added: “We’ve held the prices for four years but there is substantial inflation in football.

“Rather than keep holding prices back and then having a huge increase, we think it’s better to have a small, steady increase rather than a big jump.”

  29. Pedro

I agree… let the amazing kids come through… and we’ll sell the dross.

He’d rather quit than not see this grand design through… that is why the worst thing that could happen to him would be usmanov…

He wouldn’t know what to do if someone called his bluff!

  30. david

I remember when Highbury Square was being sold there was a advert on TS radio stating that if you buy, they guarantee the rental on the property for a period of time..
Galliano homes or some company if anyone remembers!

  31. raif

    david -

i remember that. and they even got BOB WILSON to do the advert aswell. i also remember him saying they get a season ticket aswell

  32. Geoff

London if they’re buying to live there they’re in it for the long term, if they’re buying for the prestige, they won’t care, if they’re buying to let, they may give up their deposits, but whatever, Arsenal won’t lose out because in 5 years time the market will go through the roof again.

When it’s your first recession, you always think that property will never go up and it always does, trust me I’ve made shed loads out of the slumps.

Arsenal and their bankers won’t worry, if I had £250 million spare, I’d buy the fucking lot, what a great investment that would be.

  33. London

    GMR
I think we are saying the same thing, prices have dropped people have pulled out but we are not going broke. But I still maintain that this is the reason for the financial caution in the transfer market.

  34. London

Chris, my point is that the club claim that 90% have been sold and they may well say that on the web site, but my question is how many do you really think have been sold?

  35. London

    Geoff

I work in property have done for 20 years, my guess is that they have only sold 50% and they are having a few problems.

  36. david

Sorry raif.. Yeah I remeber Bobby Wilson and the season ticket freebie now..

Isn’t there a couple of ex players who have bought too?

  37. chris

i dunno mate, sadly there is no availabilty on the website so my suggestion wasnt much good after all!

well we know pires bought one so….by my count ….1

  38. raif

    David-

i have no idea wich arsenal players past or present who might be buying one.

all i know is that Wenger wanted one were the Home dug out was. but it had already been sold

  39. rico01

Hello Everyone, blimey I thought I had logged on to Allen & Harris, or Drewiit & Neate for a moment – all this talk about property – must just mean nothing is going on in our transfers today………….. ;)

So, what ‘youngsters’ do we have…. I say, a bloody fine bunch..

    Barazite
    Nordveit
    Wilshere
    J Thomas
    Sunu
    Henri Lainsbury
    Dunne
    Cruise
    Randall

Behind them – there are many many more being taught the ‘Arsenal’ way…..

AW just needs to sort out the next two seasons, then we have rich pickings,

I am so excited about this coming season, and I still think more players will be bought for the Here and Now -

    Villa……… Villa…….. Villa………… Villa….. :)

  40. ethangunner

yes i know what you mean !
if he had an unlimited cheque book like chevski , he would be deflated ..
    MISSION FAILED :)
    GAME OVER …

but if DD was back by an usmanov take over , it could also be the key to unlock arsenes chains also !
(sadly we will never know !)

What manager wouldnt want to go after messi – kaka – ronaldinho etc..
and have the brass to REALLY do it .. from a fan perspective it would be a pipe dream ..

but cant you just see this ground hog day going on for as long as wenger is in charge? ..
get a few good players come in young …& sell them just as quick .. hover around the top 4 spot … the revolving door of youth so to speak …

Then wenger retires or pisses off to France (lyon) or what ever .. and we are still in the same position with 15 year old talent rotting in the wings ..

then we get someone like moanin-ho take over and he would just sell every cunt …
it would be like a half finished mona- liza to wenger ..

the Mr bean one with the smiley face !!! :)

im not sure how this story ends .. i cant see wenger ever finishing his grand design !

  41. ethangunner

    london
But I still maintain that this is the reason for the financial caution in the transfer market.

Why would you worry about wenger purchasing a player that will double in value within 2 years , only player that we have really lost on was reyes .. But wengers track record of making money EVERY SEASON is money in the bank ..

    hleb 10.3 selling for 15
    ade 10. selling for 25
    Freddie 3 sold for 3 ..
plus a whole hoard of others he’s sold like petit anelka etc ..

plus financial wind falls of PV4 -TH14 -
even diarra ! double his money in 4 months ..
if wenger is good at anything its raising the cost of his players …

not sure why you think its doom and gloom if wenger spends money in the transfer market ..id like him to step it up to make MORE money ..

  42. SFO Gooner

Seems like the rovers(Ince) are employing winterburn as a defensive coach. Another good arsenal player that could have helped wenger shore up our leaky defense.

  43. Wrighty7

    Evening all!,

Can anyone believe that Scot Carson is going Stoke?!

    I rate him.

How about Eto’o PLUS £15m for Adeshitcunt?

I’d bite off Barcas hand for that!

  44. choy

    evening wrighty..

no i don’t rate carson.. the images from wembley are still too fresh!!!

et o would be great… but i would prefer scruz!!

  45. Pedro

Fuck me, it’s an Arsenal retirement home! Get me in there!

Yeah, I heard that earlier Wrighty!

How about this as a warning for Adebayor… Marcus Stewart signed for Exeter today! haha!

    Watch out Ade!

Scott Carson to Stoke? Shocking what a high profile error does for your career!

    Wrighty, with you on Eto’o!

  46. GMR

I can understand why Aston Villa are so pissed off with Liverpool though, Carson was on loan there all last season & Liverpool refused to budge on the 9 million asking price yet two months later they are selling Carson to Stoke for 3.5 million.

I can see why Villa are asking 18 million for Barry from Liverpool, I reckon we could get him for 8 million plus Hoyte. O’Neill must hate the scousers.

  47. Pedro

He has drive, crunching tackles and leadership… oh and goals and big match mentality!

I’d take him in a heartbeat!

What do you reckon on him?

  48. raif

i find it hard were to place him aswell.

he can win u matches and his got alot of drive. but were to play him if he was in the arsenal team now ???

  49. rico01

Stephen Gerrard – 35M -45M worth of player, and in my opinion worth every penny, I would love to see him and Cesc in the middle of our side……………….

    One word – Awesome :)

  50. Pedro

    Wrighty…. tough shout…

    I am going Essian… younger… more aggressive…

    Actually… a fit Gerrard…

Oh fuck it, I can’t choose!

    Evening Rico!

  51. Wrighty7

    RVP?!

    I can’t believe he’s injured again.

He is so class but if he keeps getting injured then he is fast becoming a liability.

He always seems fit for Holland, he seems like Owen.

Fit for his country but not his club!

  52. Pedro

A fit king, is a super player… just a shame his knees are ruined!

Did he play at all last year?

I’ve heard the Mancs have put a bid in for Berba… that would be a signing and a half.

  53. Wrighty7

Berbatov is class, but what a moody bastard!

Last season when we beat the Spuds 2-1 I watched him from about 20 yards away and every time a pass strayed he looked disgusted!

  54. raif

to think if Chavski didnt have there gravy train. we would have had

Essien , SWP , Cech , maybe even maluda
even Terry if they went Bust

    Man utd would have had

    Robben and Duff.

Ronaldo & Robben on each wing would have been scary i think.

  55. Pedro

haha… you did a blog fart raif!

Just looking on the feeds… there is bugger all on them!

I hear this aguerro is pretty tasty!

I might check out a you tube of him!

  56. raif

    lol Blog Fart lol

as for aguerro he does looks tasty but i havent seen enough of him or a full match.
    mostly clips on youtube.

  57. Pedro

Same here raif… you tube can make even an average player look amazing!

    Remember how good Reyes looked?

  58. choy

i remember seeing a vid where he goes to celebrate with henry and when he puts his arms around his shoulder henry just shrugs him off.. you gotta see the look on his face…

    poor reyes..

that was pretty mean of henry.. imagine the best player in the club does that to you.. you’re bound to get sad!!

  59. finestcuts

Good evening lads and ladies, in my absence Nasri has signed and Adebayor’s being touted at discount prices….what a turnaround. I see there has been a bit of e-hooliganism as well, hopefully we can all get along and respect each others differences, we all enjoy our collective contributions and perhaps some of us need to chill out for a bit and consider whether we want le-grove to be a place where we exchange opinions or insults, we all get angry at times but we’re all Arsenal, thats why we’re here and it would be a shame to lose a contributor at the cot of keeping another.

I’ve been busy in the hectic real world, I won’t have as much time to spend on my favourite Arsenal blog due to commitments but I’ll be reading and contributing whenever I can.

I’ve talked to my translator buddy about the Hleb interview, she thought it was quite funny since she knows my serious side but not my Arsenal side….she’s completely multi-lingual but cannot yet speak English, she’ll be translating it from Russian to Polish, I’ll be translating it from Polish (My command of the Polish language is 100% fluent and fully proficient even if I do say so myself :) ) to English, I’ll take her out to the cinema for it to make it worth her while and learn a bit of Russian while I’m at at it I’ve, i’ve taught her some English so it’s my turn to learn something from her.
Anyway as soon as I get it done, I’ll post the article, I bet you’re all just as curious as I am about what Hleb really said in the interview in which it was alleged by a well known tabloid that Hleb showed intentional dis-respect to Fabregas and Wenger.

  60. raif

yeah i remember seeing that, Reyes and Henry didnt like each other. it was clear as any thing. noticed how reyes expressed him self more on the pitch when henry wasnt there.

that whole race with Argones really put a downer between them to. as u can see reyes was smiling when he said. “ur better then that B*ack S*it”

after i saw that i new it was the end for reyes.

not to mention the kicking he got at Man Utd

  61. Pedro

    Welcome back Finestcuts!

I think everything was sorted out… everyone kissed and made up in the end. The site will never turn into a slanging match… it’s boring for everyone and it stifles debate! Plus, we are all gooners, and we should all get on!

Sounds like a good deal, I hope she’s a looker! Are you seeing The dark Knight by any chance? Actually, I did read that Wall-e is supposed to be a modern day masterpiece… I might venture out to see what all the fuss is about!

I hope the blog absence wont be long term!

  62. raif

but i was hoping Reyes would have taken a Leaf out of Fabregas’s book. the buy was 15/16 when he came to arsenal. and reyes was in his 20′s

you would have thought it would have been the other way round.

  63. raif

    The dark Knight

i cant wait to see that.

has anyone seen the teser trailer to the next Bond movie Quantum Of Solace
    looks very good indeed

  64. raif

the season he was on loan we missed his width alot me thinks. i wanted him to stay but the fool just wanted to up sticks and fuck off,

big shame and a big waste of tallen just what u said Wrighty7.

does anyone know how he done at atletico madrid? well i can tell you. and thats
    UTTER SHIT.

She’s not bad Pedro, I’d give he a 7.5 but I’m on the case with an 8.5 but you know the score with ladies, it’s always ******* complicated. Whats all this Dark Knight and Wall -e business, I’m completely stumped!

Figured out the modern masterpiece business, yes, it is booming, very interesting, hopefully we’ll face their away boys, and if you’re talking about the Dark Knights of the Legions… I’m stricty Arsenal, they don’t like me wearing my cap around town but they get the wrong idea with the logo, I was even told i didn’t have to pay for something today, and the taxi man switched the meter off and we agreed on a price, ******* para or what, I’ll have to stick to my wooly jumper.

By the way, does anyone here play Trophy Manager, the game that is constantly advertised on newsnow? You play against real managers, I’ve just won my first title with a game in hand, has anyone else here tried it? What do you think of it? If you play, let me know so we can arrange a friendly!

The Dark Knight… Heath Ledgers penultimate film… and Wall-e… Disneys new pic that is supposed to be a bit special on an adult level!

  73. GMR

I see setanta’s sources say that Berbatov will be signing for Man Utd tomorrow for 28 million. Hopefully that means Ronaldo is off to Madrid, however I’m not so sure I want the spuds having another 28 million to invest in players!!

    Pedro -

Pirates is a good movie. the first one is the best. the other 2 are ok aswell but part 1 is the best. there all a good watch.

  75. GMR

Pedro, I have a feeling it’ll be Bentley, Arshavin (if he will agree to join them) & a striker!! I know that’ll cost more than 28 million but that are on the verge of selling Kaboul for around 7 million, Robinson for a few million & Chimbonda for 6-8 million!!
