Northern monkey tabloids are reporting that Arsenal have made an 11th hour bid to get Gareth Barry and are using Hoyte plus cash as a lure.
O’Neill hates the scousers, as we all do, he likes Hoyte, so I can smell a way out for all of us here, we on Le Grove have always rated Barry and I would be super confident for next year if we signed him to.
Ade off would be great as I’m fed up with him big time and Huntelaar in, that would make the boy wonder happy and that’s a good thing too, finally Hleb out and YaYa in plus cash would complete it, stick a couple of young’uns into the mix and we’re looking at mopping up next year.
I always hoped that the Nasri deal would start the ball rolling so expect thing to happen at a pace from here on in.

Bergkamp used to set them up at the expense of his goal tally, Wrighty used to bang them in without a concern for assists and then Thierry burst on the scene… the super striker… assister and finisher.
We can’t expect to see a player like that again for 10 years.

However, he is replaceable… and if we can replace his skills and add a bit end product… we could actually be better off this season.

Adriano Galliani says Milan have put a move for Emmanuel Adebayor on hold amid reports the club are close to signing Ronaldinho.
Arsenal striker Adebayor has been a leading target for Milan, with Barcelona also having shown an interest in the Togo international.

Hleb is an excellent footballer with one major flaw

He dribbles well and his distribution has got better (his passing was dreadful the season before last) and I think he complemented Flamini and Cesc.
I also think that he would be happier playing at the front of a diamond or as a second striker. I dont ever think he was happy playing on the left or right for us.
He will be gone soon though and I wish him luck. If he does not improve his goalscoring ability he will need it
Definately replaceable. Arshaving for me, he did tail off in the Spain game but overall I thought he looked like one of the players of the Tournament

Nasri is a creative player, Cesc is still there, Flamini didn’t create chances, but Rosicky should also be back & that adds more creativity, so realistically our midfield should be better than last season!!

A hammering debate this morning I see. The only thing I can add to what I’ve read is a stat that I’ve read here before: Ade has almost the same strike rate as Torres
1 in 4 so Ade must be better than a lot of the comments give him credit for. Add to that he played on his own for much of the season; he didn’t get any rest rather than the rotation policy at the Poo, so that may have contributed to his goals drying up, maybe, he was nacked!
I’d still favour dumping him for Villa if that can be arranged though!

DB10 wasn’t anywhere near as slow as people make out. If Huntelaar is so good why has no top manager taken a chance on him? He’s now in his mid 20′s so its not like he’s just starting out in his career & as everyone points out his scoring rate in the dutch league is outstanding., however at International level he has only scored 2 goals in competitive games, the other 6 he scored were in friendlies against the likes of Austria & Republic of Ireland.
RvN was 25 when he moved to the Mancs… Bobby Pires was 24 when he moved to Arsenal… Drogba was 26 when he moved to the Chavs…

RVN had suffered a serious injury but clubs had wanted him way before that. Pires isn’t a striker so thats irrelevant. The only one you can say is Drogba who hadn’t achieved anything but Chelski wanted him for whatever reason, he had shown how good he was in europe though whereas Huntelaar hasn’t!!

Check all of the stats you like – the one that i will draw your attention to is that Adebayor’s goals per minutes played was the 2nd best in the Prem last season (Ronaldo 1st), with Torres 2nd.
He had 4 assists also.
By your calculations – you said he needs 30 chances to score – that means he had 900 shots on goal last season to score 30.
He also came out as the best striker in the division on the opta index, with Torres 2nd again.
Hleb on the other hand wasnt even in the top 15 midfielders, with only 7 assists all season, and 2 goals.
Simon Davies outperformed him with 5 goals and 8 assists.
And you rate Eboue too….

Depends what you define as ‘effective’. For alot of people effective means scoring goals and supplying direct assists. Everything else is dismissed as airy fairy nothingness which neither makes or breaks a team.
I personally feel that Hleb consistently being double-marked and thus leaving space for others is effective.
I believe his constant forward passing is effective. And yes, alot of his passes are forward. This stuff about him passing sideways and backwards is total bollocks. Hleb is actually one of our most direct players……until he gets in the final fourth on the pitch. That is his achille heel. Still, I think while he might not shoot he still -more often than not- makes the right pass.
Does he give the Arsenal team more possession with his characteristics? Yes. Does he help us transition into the final third and fourth due to his clever passing and ball-holding ability? Yes. Does he make other players more effective due to his selflessness and awarness(Eboue 2006 anyone?)? Yes.
Do all the above make him an effective player? Hell yes!

I also have no problem you joining any debate I’m in, but I did feel under attack for no apparent reason. I agree the premier league is over hyped, I don’t think for one second its technically the best league, I do think its the best to watch for excitement though, its a much faster pace than the others.
Rooney did beat Henry but in fairness that was in one of Henry’s last seasons at Arsenal & I already thought he’d lost some pace anyway. Rooney was tackling back & beat Henry to the ball from the half way line.

The Prem is the best League for excitement I agre but the technique levels are average.
What really makes me angry though guys is the hype the likes of Chavski and the Mancscum get. The Mancscum are full of players that to me are average but they never get a kicking from anyone.
Rooney is a decent player but I think he would be a waste of space at a team from Spain or Italy as he wouldn’t get away with the brutality and the swearing.
The Chavs do have some quality players there but they hype up JT and Lumplard as theri best players. I wouldn’t want either of them at the Arse.

I disagree about Rooney though, I think he’d be better going abroad (he would have to lose the attitude as you say), but he is quite a technically gifted player its only at Man Utd that he is going backwards & thats due to being played out of position & having to play the way they do.
