Hear the solution… See the new shirt… Falcao VID!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Big thanks to Kurt Angle for Modelling the stylish new Shirt

First up, our new shirt! After seeing it up close, I like it… the stripes on the sleeves are maroon… which is pretty cool. Me and Geoff like the collar as well. So a big thumbs up after my initial thumbs down.

Onto todays post!

Ok, so I am angry… more angry than I have ever been about a summer!

Why? Is it about Arsenal? Is it the weather!

Well, no, it is about the state of football.

Arsenal have had one player leave purely down to money and 2 more hoping to follow in his footsteps. Frank Lampard is leaving Chelsea as the bastards wont give a 30 year old a 4 year deal worth £140k a week, Ronaldo is miffed that he only getting £120k a week… he feels he deserves £300k tax free and countless other players are also rocking the boat at their respective clubs.

I am not going to knock players for demanding these sorts of wages; after all, they are on offer…  I won’t knock the agents stretching clubs to their limits after their clients have one good season… but when do Europe’s elite clubs around a table and decide enough is enough?

The EU implement employment laws to protect the average workers rights. They are not there to make a millionaire sportsman richer.

So what is the solution?

Well in America, their bosman ruling happened in the 70′s. They had something called a ‘reverse clause’ which meant no player could discuss a move without permission from the club who held the rights. After the players lobbied various sporting bodies this clause was lifted and players could talk to other teams on expiration of their contracts. This was called ‘restricted free agency’ and led to bidding wars for the best players.

Restricted free agency caused the same problems for American sport teams as it is causing European football teams. The best players go to the most affluent clubs (or Clubs willing to go into the most debt), causing a lack of competitiveness.

To address the lack of competitiveness, and waning fan interest, the national associations for basketball, football and Hockey implemented salary caps.

The way a lot of American sports associations implement their caps is by working out the leagues revenue and dividing it by the number of teams so everyone has the same limit.

NFL and NHL have a hard cap… that means no one exceeds their limit. NBA has a soft cap, meaning that no one exceeds their limit unless the team who own the player are renewing a players contracts (The ‘Larry Bird’ provision). This is to stop a teams best player from moving every year and it helps keep the fans happy (Fans don’t like change… bless um’).

So there we have it…

The premier league and all the other major leagues can set a uniform wage cap to use how they please.

Everyone is in the same boat then and this has many advantages:

1. The team with the best coach and the smartest board will succeed.

2. Teams won’t be so inclined to buy players to stop other teams purchasing them (SWP effect).

3. Teams will think twice about paying players like Joey Barton £60k a week.

4. Teams will be run organically. Having a sugar Daddy will be of no benefit.

5. Season ticket prices may stop soaring (Dream on I hear you say…).

6. THE FANS WILL ENJOY THEIR SUMMERS MORE!

The idea isn’t fool proof, and this article here suggests a salary cap just makes the richest and the smartest, richer and smarter. But let’s be honest, Arsenal are a pretty savvy club… so let’s not worry too much about that!

Admittedly my idea is a bit idealistic, but lets be honest… falling premiership gates and a disdain for the modern game ain’t gonna reverse if we carry on as we are…

Fan’s help pay the salaries of these over paid sports stars and if they feel they are not getting VFM or that the game is not competitive, they will eventually switch off.

So if you are reading and you are a club chairman, have a think about it and share your thoughts with another chairman!

That is my solution, let me know yours!

Happy blogging!

P.S.

This morning Arsenal have been linked with Falcao, the Columbian scoring sensation (38 in 58 apparently.). The Hleb fee has been agreed and Hleb has been bashing London again. Arshavin has been bid for by and English club… £19mill apparently! Oh, and Gilberto has apparently been transferred to Pana. If that is the case, I think it is a real shame. Our treatment of Gilberto has been poor and you really can’t blame players approaching 30 for wanting to leave. That will be the 5th player to leave since January (If Hleb and Ade leave)… all first teamers or potential first teamers… that is a turnover that would make McDonalds blush! How does Wenger fight back from this? Only time will tell Grovers!

P.P.S There is another story on the news feeds regarding wage caps… I wrote this yesterday morning incase you were wondering!

No Alonso please AFC53, good passer but very immobile and can’t tackle.

We need someone with more bite!

  2. ethangunner

    evo

your right there are a lot of good replacements out there ! i agree !
i can think of several ! (kaka being one of them ! )
but can we afford a player of similar skill to hleb and what he adds to the team in experience for a lousy 12 mil ???

we will probably swap hleb for nasri ! it will be like playing lotto if you ask me !

  3. Pedro

    Ethan,

I am not talking about a draft system, just a top out on wages so you can’t have a 40 player squad with players bought to prevent other teams getting them.

If there was a cap across Europe that was the same in all leagues, the best players would still play in the Prem.

If you can’t sustain yourself organically, it is cheating in my eyes. I am all for capitalism… but the money earned by most of the these Oligarchs hasn’t been attained through savvy business acumen… it’s been attained through corruption.

  4. Pierre

AFC53, good team, I also think Alonso would be a good buy. Just read we’ve supposed to have bid £19m for arse shavin, if we’re going to spend that money, go after Huntlaar so TT can eff off! (not that I believe it of course) Unless the plan is arse shavin in for Pleb, then a.n. other in for TTer?

  5. Pedro

MeM… that shirt never goes out without a jacket…

It would be a brave man who attacked Geoff in the shirt, but best not to tempt fate.

It will probably get framed to commemorate our first year!

  6. Paulinho

Abdenor, You judge him on what you see. You can’t boil everything down to goals and direct assists. People say all this Hleb assisting the assister thing is bollocks but it’s not! It is clear as day for anyonr with a modicum of footballing intelligence. Look at Henry’s goal versus Juventus two years ago, the ball that Hleb slipped through to Fabregas was brilliantly weighted. No tom, dick and harry could do that.

The thing is, Hleb does all these things without fanfare and the big ‘look at me’ attitude of Adebayor, so people blank it out of their minds.

Barcelona could get anyone to help their playmaking- the best in the world I might add- but they choose he skinny Belarussian who doesn’t score. Speaks VOLUMES!

  7. Paulinho

At, £12 million, Barca are getting a good bang for their buck, Are we with Samir Nasri? We’ll see.

  8. choy

paulinho.. maybe hleb was an easier target?

he wanted out… wanted to come to barca… barca first bid for arshavin.. they got rejected..bid for hleb…!!

  9. Paulinho

Guardiola wanted both Choy, he is clearing the decks big-style at Barca.

Hleb and Arshavin. Could have been us with that dream ticket.

  10. ethangunner

    evo

law of averages say stoke wont win the EPL this season ? do you agree ?
if so i rest my case !

    :)

if it isnt liverpool -man U -chevski .. ill be very fucking surprised !

ok and us if we pull our fingers out !!
but it had better happen post haste ..

  11. Abdenor

I don’t despise Hleb Paulinho, i respect your opinion mate but don’t see what he brought to the table for you to label him the best in the world.

He’s clearly not a great athlete, does’nt have good balance, his passings and shooting leave a lot to be desired.

…in short, his moments like the one you mentioned are few and far between!

  12. Paulinho

Doesn’t have good balance, passing leaves alot to be desired? Sure you weren’t watching his brother Vyacheslav?

His balance is amazing, his pasing his concise and risque. Jeez, no wonder the lad is desperate to sign for Barca. They can appreciate a ball-handler ala Iniesta!

  13. dennisdamenace

choy- totally agree, pleasing on the eye coz of his ability, but doesn’t punish the opposition enough…….

  14. MeM

I think we should start next season with this team.

    Almunia

    Sagna
    Toure
    Gallas
    Clichy

    Walcott
    Fabregas
    Veloso/De La Red
    Nasri

    Van Persie
    Bendtner/Eduardo

The back up is what concerns me. Our first team is class, our strike force is as good as any (Vela, Walcott, Eduardo, Van Persie, Bendtner and a possible signing) but behind our first choice midfield we lack quality. Diaby, Denilson and Ramsey are not ready. maybe Diaby or Denilson could step up for a few games but what if Cesc was injured perminantly? We would more nasri to the middle and then have Eboue or Diaby on the wing. That is not good enough.

I think we are covered in defence with traore, Hoyte, Eboue, Djourou, Nordveit, Senderos and Song backing up a very good unit of players.

  15. GMR

Who’s this Nasri everyone keeps talking about??

The only Nasri I’ve ever seen is Samir Nasri & he plays for Marseille!!

  16. AFC53

For me Ade has got to go he has made his position impossible with us I would like to see him replaced but not with Huntellar who has said he would love to go to manure.

I dont think you have to play a big man up front just somebody mobile I would like to see RVP and Eduardo both fit together or Santa Cruz coming in and being the target man.

I think we could do worse than buying a RW so Theo can play up front.

To challenge I think we need:

    CB – Commanding,Strong.
    LW – Nasri???
    RW – ???
    CM – Alonso,
    CF – Santa Cruz,

  17. Evo in Oz

i agree stoke will win fuck all, but football (soccer) is one of the only sports not to regulate the pay system in some way, hence every fucker doing what they want!

  18. vikrantpal

I actually really like the shirt. Pure redness at the back and it looks cool. Too much white makes the shirts look boring and dull. We finally have a sexy shirt! Forget tradition guys. If we had that players would respect contracts and be loyal to the club.

Getting my shirt soon. Paid a very cheap price for it ;) I also provide it for a cheap price on my website :) http://www.av-trading.co.uk

shirt is £25 and name and number for an extra £5.

  19. dennisdamenace

Paulinho – Football’s about scoring and keeping cleans sheets fella, and in one of the most attack orientated teams in world football his impact at the end where he’s paid to produce was not much better than the much criticised Eboue!

  20. Evo in Oz

ok gotta hit the sack, friday tomorrow, so need to be ready for a short day in order to get to the pub on time!

catch all you wonderful grovers later on!

  21. Pedro

I’d also say that if Cesc needs a player to make him look good, maybe he is not as good as everyone says he is?

They say Rooney was sacrificed for Ronaldo… but at least Rooney managed 18 goals and a load of assists on the way…

Having a player on your team who wont shoot is never a good thing… especially as our best teams always have goal scoring midfielders.

  22. GMR

DDM, Oh so he’s related to the midge Dkembe Dkembe!! I reckon this Nasri has magical powers though because no fu**er ever sees him!!

  23. Abdenor

Hleb would make a great 5 a side player as he likes to operate in tight spaces with his quick feet but Arsenal only those games in training i’m affraid.

I might be harsh on him but have never seen him have 2 good games in succession and just incase people don’t know …..
…. he’s yet to win anything in his carrer!

  24. Pedro

Before he uses his magical powers, does he say,

    ‘iZZy wiZZy, lets get biZZy’

    Get it… the initials?

Oh my, that was a poor joke…

  25. Paulinho

Pedro, I loved Fabs since he was 17. Knew he was a special player. However I don’t think he is that good that he can play with anyone and have the same influence. He lacks pace so in order to get good ball he relies on visionary teammates who can indulge him.

    H

  26. Pedro

MeM… so why does he need Hleb assisting him? It was a question more than anything.

My opinion is that cesc would look good with anyone.

  27. Paulinho

……..e played decent for Spain, no more in my opinion. If you watch him for Spain in general the lad struggles a bit to produce the same form. He plays with players who have big egos and do not see Cesc as the main playmaker who they should always look for. That is why he appreciates Hleb so much. He knows he will always get the ball from him, unlike in the spanish team and with inferior players like Eboue.

  28. Paulinho

Remember that dreadful first half versus Liverpool at the Emirates this season? Fabs was playing in that game without Hleb. I found that match painful to watch. Toure shouted to the bench at one point “There’s no one to fucking pass to!”

I’m hoping that first half is not a sneak preview of next season.

  29. Abdenor

Cesc would be the main man for Spain if he’s playing his trade in La Liga!

He’s better than both Xavi and Iniesta….. not by much but he’s defo better!

  30. dennisdamenace

Cobblers, when Fab4 came on for Spain and setup two of the three goals scored, his general play turned the game for Spain.

As my Gooner made said “when Ronaldo plays he looks good, but when Cesc plays he makes ten players look good”………..

  31. Abdenor

Hleb was dire in his first 2 seasons here and i’m being kind btw…

.. didn’t exactly stop Cesc stand out from the crowd did it?

  32. MeM

Does he need Hleb assisting him? He could have anyone assisting him. In fact, he does not need anyone to assist him, he creates and scores goals from nothing.

Fair enough if you are only questioning, but there is no chance that Cesc is not as good as people say.

  33. Paulinho

It’s hard to say for sure Pedro. After all, Fabregas made his name in his first season while Hleb was still in Stuttgart.

I think he has got used to a certain way of playing, short passing etc. He’s grown into that role. I might take him a while to adjust to a new way of playing or a new dynamic in the team. All I know is that alot of Spanish fans do not see the big deal with Fabregas, they can’t see what is so special about him. I think that has alot to do with who he plays with and who suits him.

  34. charybdis1966

DDM, you’re right about what you said earlier, at the moment it feels like Mandingo will sign before the Judith Chalmers of european football does.

  35. Pedro

Imagine cesc playing with a young Freddie, Overmars or Pires, we’d be amazing!

I think Hleb is a great player, but I think he is expendable so long as the replacement is acceptable.

How about Merida? He plays in a similar style to Hleb and was brought up on the Barca style Cesc learnt.

I am excited about seeing Traore as a winger… he could be a revelation!

Am I getting all Akb on the young gunners front?

  36. charybdis1966

Just seen Arsecom plugging a feature of “Cesc – my team mates” – that’ll be a 5 line story then……

  37. dennisdamenace

I’m outta here guys, an hours free drinking in the Eurostar Business lounge, followed by two hours free drinking in Business Class on the Eurostar, following by an evening drinking vodka and falling over in Jewel in Piccadilly……………..Chamon everyone.

  38. Arsenal Tom

pedro.. i thought that about eboue last year!!! dont say it!!!

fuck hleb, hes gone and to be honest doesnt deserve all these plauydits cos he fucked our club over…

cesc would look good anywhere the boys world class

  39. finestcuts

What a coincidence, I’ve just had my new home shirt + lots of other merchandise delivered straight from London by my dear mum, wearing it now….I hope your new shirt is a success, I’m loving the new home shirt. Great post, salary cap….hmmmm they had that in Major League Soccer and they couldn’t attract any big players until they brought the rule in where they can have one star player…forgot the name, but it would mean our best would leave for La Liga and Serie A (even more so than now), it’s a long topic. I won’t be around to get on peoples nerves for a few days, lots to do….seeya soon!

  40. Pedro

It is a bit quiet today?

Mind you… you get bored of depressing news don’t you?

Finestcuts… I meant a cap on every league that was the same.

Have a good few days doing whatever you do!

  41. Abdenor

I’ll eat my hat if we buy Falcao!…..Not a Wenger type!

Would not mind the old brasilian Falcao though.

  42. Pedro

I heard Dkembe Dkembe would only sign after his holiday?

There is a guy called Falcao who plays futsal… he is pretty tasty!

Zarate went to Lazio I think? He was good…

  43. Arsenal Tom

falcao is a definite wenger type… nobodys heard of him and hes a prolific scorer… eduardo anyone????

  44. choy

we need to buy premier league players in case we are buying strikers or defenders..

santa cruz will be better than falcao… at least we won’t need time settling in!!

  45. Abdenor

Anyone remembers the old brasilian Falcao…. i am not that old but his goal in Spain 82 against Italy will stay in the memory for as long as i live.

He dummied 3 players in one movement then scored with a great shot from just outside the box in what was a classic and one of the all time best matches in World cup matches!

  46. tbuzz

Yes!!! Thanks for the update Abdenor, that has perked me up now!!

We must think of a chant for him soon too! lol

  47. Pierre

Abdenor, just watched that Pires clip, can you believe we had him and Henry, Bergy and PV04 all at the same time, unreal, like you said, we won’t see their like again :(

  48. Pedro

    Mandingo, ooooohhh,
    Mandingo, ooooohhh,
    He comes from Bethlehem,
He sheep farms from 9 til 10!
    MANDINGO, Oooohhhh!

    (to the tune of Vieira)

  49. charybdis1966

Wenger prefers his players to be rake like – body fat is not an option ! Aloysius will have to have a big poo before he goes for the weigh in.

  50. david

Someone has posted this on a Man U blog, just dreeeeaming.

Sorry but this wrong ajax already agree with fc arsenal 23m euro 1 week and a half ago and has signed for them, you have been told nothing yet because arsenal will tell in press with nasri and velso on friday 11, i work for ajax ground and all know this

  51. Pierre

    how about

    Dkembe! ooooohhh
    Dkembe! ooooohhh
he’s so good on the ball
we won’t miss Hleb at all!!!!

  52. Abnet Arsenal

Did you see this guys Goal.com is saying that Milan is ready to propose 30 mil and Gurcuf for Ade

  53. charybdis1966

David, that would be nice but I think it’s abit of invention by Manskummers to see if we take the bait.

  54. Abdenor

    Pascal Cygan, Pascal Cygan

He’s bald, he’s shit, he plays when no one’s fit

    Pascal Cygan, Pascal Cygan

  55. Pierre

david, I really like your rumor, I think I’ll pick your rumor to believe today!

Fridays always used to be a good day for arsenal.com. the boss went on there and gave the team news for the forthcoming game, hope theres some news on there tomorrow, cos it shuts down over the weekend, we wont sign anybody over the weekend cos the frikkin website bloke has saturdays and sundays off!

  56. GMR

This Falcao rumour will end up another wind up. I bet its been started by the same guy that done the Palacio Rodrigo rumour last year!!

  57. GMR

Wont that be quite expensive to hand over everyone’s wages in a cap!! Will 50k even fit in 1 cap or would 2 be needed??

  58. Pedro

    afternoon El Tel!

I think the same GMR… South Americans don’t always live up to their hype.

Raif, I hope you haven’t got copyright stuff on your you tube… Google has to hand over all the details of its members…!

  59. Pierre

Bloody deopressing thought this, last 3 years we havnt won a bean, look who’s gone over last 3 years, Viera, Bergy, Henry, Pires, Ljungberg, Campbell, Edu, now Flamini, Gilberto, Hleb. We just havn’t brought that quality back in to replace them, and our success shows that.

  60. Patrick7

Abdenor – just got back from training and lunch + wading through all the blogs to get up to date! Is that why WG is ordinary as a CB? But didn’t I read him saying he doesn’t like playing at LB. Maybe that’s why Mourinho got rid of eventually: moaning. I still think we need him for one more season & as captain for the same term but AW needs to bring in a leader this period as next year will be the time to sort the CB problem if we’re not doing it now but papering over it with the new DFM (we assume).

Hleb is definitely going cheap for £12M unless they release Yaya for the same back to us or give us a few bob as well; £5M would be nice but don’t blame AW for the deals made; it’s Friar who does that, isn’t it? I don’t think Hleb will be missed if we have Nasri, a fit Risicky and Arshavin/another working as a unit with Cesc but we need a hard tackler/stamina man like Flam to dish out what’s needed and assist in winning the midfield or the passing game stops there!

  61. Abdenor

GMR, There’s some quality caps in sunday market at whitechapel, good value aswell!

maybe that’s what El Tel is talking about.

  62. Abnet Arsenal

Cesc is our Capitan fantastic for the next term I hope everthing is shaping up for him . Gallas is crying still after the EU08 . Silva is leaving …

  63. raif

Pedro – actully to be honest i have, Music mostly when iv ever posted a Vlog or made a video. i just hope it aint as bad as everyone is making out

  64. Abdenor

i bet you anything Patrick, Kolo & Gallas combo won’t win us the league.

I’ll still keep him for his versatality but not as 1st choice and definitely not as captain!

He’s everything a captain should’nt be as he’s a ticking bomb waiting to explode and we all know it

  65. Patrick7

Pierre – very depressing when you look at it like that which backs up GMRs argument of us having lost quality over the years.

But just for one moment look at the football we played when ‘on song’ last season and add a touch of class/invention to that which is presumably what AW is trying to achieve + consistency (with the DEFENCE SORTED) and we could be more successful and wow the crowds!

Tactically we also need to gamble a bit more (as we did in the early season) as we lost the EPL last year to a team who lost more games but won more also. It was exciting and presumably frightening for defending teams when they knew they would be on the rack for the last 20 minutes!

  66. El Tel

    Hi Pedro

    Great Blog mate.

Just had MUTV (SSN) on they are dragging allies on there to slag Blatter off. Although what Blatter said was silly the likes of Tony Pullis (WHO) saying he’s just an admin man and he knows nothing about football is typical of those lucky enough to get involved with football.

These type of cunts get up my nose and sprout the usual he never played so doesn’t know anything shit.

If it wasn’t for the Administrators the players wouldn’t play.

Sidwell signed for Villa, its a shame that boy can’t settle anywhere.

  67. Abnet Arsenal

We lost the title last season because of the defenders nothing else we have the best midfield in the league the average attack and the crippled wing

  68. Pierre

For me it was the defence that lost us the title last year, having Gallas/Senderos alongside Toure, and Almunia in goal, I posted before that we let in 10 goals more than any other top 4 team, a better defence would have turnes some of them draws into wins, no doubt about that. Course if adebayor goes we need to address the other end of the balance, we need to replace 24 league goals as well.

  69. Abdenor

Got it spot on Abnet & Pierre, unless we sort that out then it’ll be same story again next season i’m affraid.

  70. Patrick7

Abnet – we HAD the best midfield – we’ve just lost 2 of them (and 3 if Bert is included) but agree on the crippled wing and average attack.

Hopefully the wing deliveries will improve this season as well as the corners and dead-ball deliveries plus the free kicks on goal which were all wasted last year. De la Red comes to mind (for the dead-ball/free kicks) but maybe there’s better!

Our attack with Eduardo on song was closer but Hleb rarely got the ball through & Rosicky/RVP injuries hammered us!

  71. El Tel

I believe the midfield were as guilty as the defence for the goals we conceded, Flamini was very good at covering the pitch but he isn’t the great DM everyone suggests. There were no other players in the squad who could do that job either. The edge of our box was very vulnerable and pulled the CB’s to far up field. Flamini at times was furhter forward than Cesc and that left us open to counter attack. Along with a poor keeper that was why we conceded to many goals.

We will regret selling Bertie unless Wenger gets a decent DM in and I think a Frings would do well despite his age, he could also be Rambo’s Mentor.

  72. Abdenor

We keep getting labbeled the most attractive & attacking side in EPL last few years ,ect, ect…….

….. but have F..k all trophies to show for it, Why is the question?

‘cos we let in too many soft goals, even Derby got 2 against us ffs

it is about time Wenger does the math and buy a monster who can defend

  73. El Tel

    Patrick

A goalscoring winger is what we need and if RVP stays fit the free kick department will improve. If Sicky stays fit we will improve up front. I don’t think the defence are as bad as suggested Player for Player they are as good as anyone elses, they need a shield and a keeper.

  74. raif

Does anyone else think arsenal re-opend Negotiation’s with Milan for Ade so people dont think were Barcas Feeder club??
how do u think it would look that arsenal would have sold them 7 players over the years?

3 of them within a year if they get Ade & Helb?

    henry,
    van bronkhorst,
    helb,
    adebayor
    overmars,
    petit,
    silvinhio.

  75. Patrick7

Good point El Tel – was that because nobody covered Flam?

Abdenor – Agreed! As I said earlier – Let’s hope AW was playing smoke and mirrors when he said he would’nt buy a CB.

  76. Abdenor

Raif – it’s nothing to do with that mate

Milan are more desperate and is Ade’s favored destination

he agreed terms with them ages ago according to the media

  77. El Tel

Our 3 closest rivals don’t have the said Monster in defence the nearest ugly cunt is JT but he isn’t a giant.

The notion that we need a big fucker doesn’t add up, we have the 2 most mobile CB’s in the Prem who rarely get beat on the deck and are ok in the air.

We need a keeper who can clean up when the defence push up and a keeper who can claim the high balls, a confident keeper who controls HIS area.

A DM who sits in front of the defence no matter what like Makele. So what if he doesn’t score goals leave that to the experts, Song could be that man, uncompromising a good clean tackler and decent on the ball with good pace and fairly good in the air.

  78. Pedro

El tel, great point about the DM.

The right and left mids should be wading in with goals, not the DM.

The Flamster left us exposed on a few occasions last year… I am unsure about song thoguh…

I don’t think anyone covered the Flamster when he drove forward. That left Eboue who was wide, Cesc and Hleb to cover and at times Theo when he was in. That left us very weak in the middle of the park and we got overpowered by the Chavs and Mancscum and also by teams we really should have smashed.

    Pedro

I agree with RVP out wide and mentioned it a while ago. That would leave Theo to play up the middle and feed off the king of assists and a target man.

I don’t think the Flamster was at fault just the fact that the other guys couldn’t shield like the Flamster and Bertie, Wenger played the twat Eboue for that reason but the idiot stayed out wide.

Should we say Sagnas success was due to Eboue covering him?

I don’t particularly think Song is the answer but he is the only one at the Club apart from moving Kolo forward who I think can shield the defence, unless Wnger buys in.

Guys – Flamini isn’t a DM just like PV4 & Roy Keane wasn’t and i am not comparing them btw…… he’s a Makelele or Gilberto type anyway.

He’s a box to box player who expects someone to cover for him when he goes forward

unfortunately no one did and we got done many time but i still go back to the defence…..

we have a soft centre that needs sorting out and quick!

  82. charybdis1966

Pierre, did you mean we let in 10 more than the other 3 top 4 sides ?
According to the final Premier League table for 07/08 we let in 9 more than Mankscum, 5 more than the Chavs and 3 more than the Poo.

  83. charybdis1966

PS – and without trying to sound all AKB, of those 3 only the manksum had a better goal difference than us.

  84. raif

charybdis1966 – thats what i was saying a few weeks back. the Mankscum was the only team to have a better goal diffrence to us so that says our deffence needs sorting out. thats why we lost the prem last year.

  85. El Tel

How about youn Dennilson playing like Mascherrano. I think he could be good but he would need better support than all the attacking Midfielders we have. I can’t wait to see what Sir Alf can do maybe he is the one.

  86. charybdis1966

Yes Raif, but Pierre was saying we let in 10 more than ANY other top 4 team. Obviously a worse goal difference is expected if you’re not top of the table.

  87. Abdenor

I can’t see Denilson making the grade El Tel , Song has got a better chance me thinks.

he’s too weak and too lazy!

  88. Pierre

charybdis, you’re probably right, I didn’t check the final table it was something i read a while back. Apologies for putting up in correct info, maybe I should become a journalist?

    Abdenor

dennilson is still very young and he was carrying an injury last year. I hope the boy shows us what he can do this season mate.

  90. Ja_Gunner

Why dont we use Hleb to get Ronaldhino?

Yes the other main clubs that are after him can throw bigger money.

But Man City cant offer him Champs League, Milan cant offer that either. Surely he will think of ambition over money. He will want to prove himself again on the biggest stage…..not in the Uefa cup!!!!

Only Chelsea may give us competetion for him since they have money and Scolari.

But we have Hleb, Barca seem to really want him….we could use Ade as well but I would not want to lose both….. for the sake of team stability.
So we have 2 players that they want…Guardiola has said he does not want Ronaldhino, therefore let us use what we have as leverage and go in for him.

Imagine Ronaldhino playing for Arsenal on a mission to become the best again, he would be unstoppable and the side would be much better for it.

  91. El Tel

    Pedro

I am not sure where Dennilson would play best. Unfortunately for him I think he plays where the assist King plays and unless the great 1 gets an injury i think Denny will either leave or never get a run going to show how good he really is.

I like the way he plays.

  92. raif

    Ja_Gunner -

Ronaldhino could be amazing at arsenal. but he could be a utter flop awell. and at the price of what ever hi wages would be i dont knowif it would be a save gamble. Plus wenger wont buy Big names. so it wont happen at all. so Ronaldhino is a pipe dream nothing more

  93. El Tel

    Ja Gunner

That would be a dream for us and our Young bucks who would love going to training every day to play with Goofy. Just like RVP loved playing with his Hero DB10 and players joining us to play with TH14.

  94. El Tel

What about this for a thought.

Jabba the Hut gives Wenger the money as a gift to buy Commrade Arse Shaver. A gift for all Gooners and his way of winning us over.

  95. El Tel

How about Kroenke hits back at Jabba by gifting us with fellow Countryman the very under rated Brad Friedel.

  96. ethangunner

all say what you want about hleb !
but i can tell you this season just gone is the closest we’ve come to winning anything for a long period of time ! argue that if you will !
the spice boys where the boiler room for arsenals limited success , i say limited because we coughed up the lead when ade and his goal scoring abilities shut up shop for 11 matches !

i know 90% of you are just fucking bitter that the prick is leaving but at least call a spade a spade !! he will be a player that will be hard to replace with our beer and chips budget !

and the topic was can we replace hleb for 12 million !
    ?????

  97. El Tel

Guys if you rubbed the magic Lamp and was told that you could buy one English player for your Team who would you buy?

For me it would be Micah Richards.

  98. david

That may mean if we win the champs league and the EPL, it will push up the share prices for when he does his takeover…
