Hleb – I didn’t say that. Ade – yeah he’s for sale???

by & filed under Uncategorized.

OK the two things we were talking about yesterday did a complete U turn today, Hleb said ‘In some newspapers it was mentioned that I have attacked Arsene Wenger and Cesc Fabregas. But let me tell you: This is not true!‘, and according to Sky Sports news, AC Milan have said Arsenal have written to them and said they are prepared to sell Ade.

Someone is telling porkies! The thing is whoever is telling the odd fib, as an Arsenal fan it’s embarrassing and worrying, Arsenal should come out and show their hand once and for all, let the fans know their intentions.

Someone on here yesterday said it was all lies and just the press causing trouble, well Arsenal should come out and say that then, he did when the rumour was we were after a centre back, christ he even interrupted his lucrative commentating deal to do that, so don’t tell me Arsenal are above all that, perleeeease!

Wenger saying we have to pay back £24 million a year for 17 years is just rubbish, that’s £408 million, how can we have got all that money in from sponsors plus the sale of Highbury, plus treble match revenue for 2 years, plus transfer surpluses, plus prize money and have paid nothing off the £450 million it cost to build the stadium.

And before anyone says Highbury square hasn’t been sold yet, I know that, but deposits have been taken and 90% have been sold, or are the ads just lies as well? And that goes in 2009.

It’s complete nonsense, we are being treated like children, and fed bullshit lines like that, where does all our money go?

We were told we had to move to compete, they forget to add ‘but not in your lifetime’

Anyway ManU have to pay £63 million a year in interest, make less per game than we do and still spend millions every year on new players, if this board don’t watch it, they’ll lose the support of the small shareholder and then they’ll be a takeover and then whoever buys it will plunge the club into massive debt, just like the Glazers did, so all this bollocks will be in vain.

I read somewhere that 7 out of Wenger’s 12 years have been pot-less, that, my friends is a poor return for a club of our stature.

All is not lost though as we can still buy this season and win the lot, and that is what is so frustrating to us the fans.

GMR is trying to get a meeting between Arsene or Danny and us, so we can ask all these questions, so maybe we’ll find out eh? don’t hold your breath, but if you don’t try, you don’t get, so good luck GMR.

Another day of nothing, still no Nasri, but hey! who knows, it could be today.

Have a good’un Grovers!

Appenrently he has a younger brother, who by all accounts is a much superior player, but AW decided to keep the weaker player, deja vu anyone!!

  2. Odub

DDM any seats at the grove is a good seat!! I tend to end up with the baying mob in the corner via my crappy red membership anyway! :)

Speaking of which, my other main ticket provider Scuba hasnt been on in ages!!! Where is he?

  3. Bud

Forget the cost of players. Wenger is doing his bit to get the wage bill down and will then replace with good players !

He has said time and time again that £70 mill is for wages as well !!!!!!

With Ade, Flamini, Hleb and poss Gilberto, that is about £10,000,000 (circa £200,000 a week) of wages he has to shell out to new players….

  4. dennisdamenace

Pedro, honestly, what do you take me for?? I was referring to getting moist in a tearful way…………..shame on you!

  5. Bud

Odub, you can have Club Level if you want, but unless you bring business to the table hombre, it costs, and at £110/£120 a game or whatever it works out at, thought you’d be happier watching cattle class ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told you, get shot of your junior (totts fan if I remember right !) and let me replace and its free !!!!!!!

  6. charybdis1966

Dkembe dkembe – saviour of the universe !! Well of N5 anyway.

Why not play him in omre trhan one position – we beat the Poo with 9 men 2-1 so why not ?

  7. Odub

Bud I’ll take you up on a couple of tickets this season if you dont mind, wouldnt mind treating the other half to the club level experience just once.
Seeing as I only took her to 1 of the 10 odd matches i saw last season, I’m still in the dog house!!

You’re right Pedro he is a snob!

  8. Pierre

its funny, half a sniff of hleb being on his way and suddenly the mood on here goes through the roof and everybodys happy, just shows hoew desperate we all were! 1 redeming feature of Hleb is that he wanted to go now for a fee rather than buy out his contract or walk for free (a la Flamini scumbag) so when he does finally leave I for 1 won’t be flicking the V’s at the telly as his ice cream van tootles down the grove for the last time.

  9. Pedro

I agree the comments have been funny today… bar Zzzzz…. sorry I mean A, it’s been clear of idiots!

  10. tbuzz

Mandingo Dkembe Dkembe…the boy is so young you have to call his name twice. lol Probably still sucks his left thumb too! Dont be surprised if Spurs put a bid in for him…

Does anyone know when the so-called 10days will expire Re:Nazzzzri?

  11. charybdis1966

  14. tbuzz

  15. Odub

Pedro we’ve been trying to find a way to set up a wiki page for him, if you can manage that I’m sure our little maestro will be on newsnow by tomorrow morning, and on the spuds wanted list by the end of the week!!

The below is a perfect example of how the press twist things, Bac no doubt was asked his view on transfers and contracts -

Now look how Setanta report the interview – thats why we should believe Fuck All thats written, unless on AFC.Com – mind you, we wait for ages for that to happen ;(

Bacary Sagna claims signing a new deal is no guarantee that a player will remain at a club for the long haul.

The defender had a fantastic season with Arsenal and was rewarded with a deal which runs until 2014.

Sagna is content with life in North London, but says there is no guarantee he will see out his six-year deal with The Gunners.

When asked if his new deal is proof of a long-term commitment to Arsenal, he said: “Not necessarily. In fact, it doesn’t mean anything.

“The proof is that most of the players leave even when they are under contract. The important thing is most of all to perform well.

“The rest is destiny. Everyone has his.”

Sagna was then asked if those words mean he will move on before the new season starts, and he answered: “No! I am most of all thinking of having a good season.”

  17. charybdis1966

YeahPedro – have to persist with the log out-log in thing at WordPress everyday.

After you plant that story on newsnow it’d be a hoot ot set up a press conference for Dkembe Dlembe’s unvieling so the hacks would be “punk’d” – it’s what murdocks muppets deserve. Especially SkySports – could they BE any further up Fungusscum’s arse ?

  18. tbuzz

    I can see it now….

Arsenal have confirmed that they have signed Mandingo Dkembe Dkembe, dubbed “the African prodigy from the West”, for an undisclosed fee(McDonald wages).
He is due to pass a medical in the next few hours sas he’s said to be as” fit as horse”.

The 14year old was said to be delighted with the signing saying, “It has been my dream to play for Mr Arsene, arsenal is a massive massive club with massive massive potentials and I will play in any position Mr Arsene wenger wants me to play as I am very versetile”, said the old looking 14year old Dkembe Dkembe from Bukina Faso.
His current coach at Faso Wonderers, Martin Jol said,” Iam gutted to have to sell him, but I wish him well and I hope he scores plenty goals agains Sp*Ds…those Bastard$!!”
    :)

  19. tbuzz

tbuzz – good on you all, cant wait to read tomorrows headlines in The Sun, as Spud disclose their new signing!!!! :)

  22. charybdis1966

But the Faso warriors leg-end is from the same school of scouting as Didier Baptiste – who the Chavs actually tried to swipe from the noses of Harchester Rovers.

Anyone remember that, from the Ranieri days ?

  23. Odub

I’m off folks have a good one, and may the morning bring news of a signing, and also the first sighting of our signing M D Dkembe!!

    Night all!!

  24. tbuzz

On that note, Iam signing off. lol
Look out on Newsnow, you might see Wenger shaking hands with lil’ DDkembe with an oversized red an’ white jersey!! lol

    Adios people!!

  25. raif

i bet we get a SHITE return for HELB and ADE if and when we sell them.

    Helb = £8 mill
    Ade = £15 mill

you wait and see were going to get shafted just like we did with the Henry deal that took him to barca and this shit amount ofcash we got for Veria. if we get anything more then what i have guessed then i will be very suprised indeed,

    Excellent Post,

  26. raif

yeah and how much was Henry Rumoured to be leaving for lol

also having said that all our deals are UNDISCLOSED, so we wont find out any ways lol

  27. Geoff

I’m boarding a flight to Manchester and if it crashes I hope it crashes in that shithole Old Trafford!

I will feel I’ve done something useful then.

  28. Mandingo Aloisus Dkembe Dkembe

Hello my friends, i am looking forward so much to playing for you, has anyone got a spare room for me as i have no lodgings, and have you any daughters!

  29. Trinidad_Gunner

“Wayne Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford has been fined £300,000 and banned from working as a football agent for 18 months by a disciplinary commission, the Football Association announced on Wedneday”

Hopefully its Ade and Hleb’s agents next :)

  30. ethangunner

    fuck …..
it frightens me how good i am !!!

Arsenal have agreed to transfer Gilberto Silva to Panathinaikos

Ken Friar is reported today in the Greek press as having said that he has, on behalf of Arsenal, come to an agreement on principle with Panathinaikos president Nikos Pateras.

All that remains now is for the player to agree personal terms for the deal to go through.

  31. SFO Gooner

if you are a 27 year old arsenal player (like hleb) it is best you look for the longest and highest paying contract around.

Otherwise you can end up like gilberto who is past 30 and is being flogged to panathanikos. I am sure gilberto would feel he should have signed with juventus/milan couple of years ago.

I think it is easy to blame hleb for not being honest as to why he is leaving. The fact of the matter is arsene favors youngsters and if you are past 30 you are treated badly(sold or one year deals like pires/bergkamp). Look at the chavs offering a four year deal to lampard who is 30. Arsene would never do that even though in this case gilberto has become less effective than before.

I think we should get used to players (like fabregas) leaving when they approach their last big payday which is around 26/27.

  32. Patrick7

GMR – Couldn’t reply earlier: popped out to see the Tour finish; it was only 30Km away so had to be done!

I don’t think I was spouting like a Spuds fan. I appreciate the change for the better in Arsenal’s football and the positive comments from the media about our team especially when pundits are creaming themselves at our silky football. It makes a change from the Boring, boring Arsenal or Lucky Arsenal that I grew up with.

As I said the silverware has got to come with it! I can see the progress as many others have said and providing we get decent replacements for those we have lost/will lose I can see success just round the corner.

We just missed out on a CL win the previous season to last when we had a good shot at the PL gaining an extra 15 points for 83: that’s progress! Like many others if we continue to move forward, if not dominate this coming season, I shall be ecstatic as you will be.

I realise though that the loss of Flamster is a body blow! He may not have been as skilled as others that people have spoken about but he had heart and the drive to win which many others currently lack. After all we need to win in midfield to give the service to our strikers especially if we aim out Ade as a target man although Bendtner may suffice.

I agree totally with your alarm in the current transfer period which if not rectified soon will put us back 2 years as our rivals are strengthening as we ponder or that’s the way it looks………………………………………..

  33. ethangunner

    i had hoped we’d keep him ! -bert…
i mean currently with our midfield exodus(( ill take him )or anyone ! ) !

    i cant believe it …
    diarra gone
hleb – gone to barca ! ( ok alex we will let you go where you want to go ! )
    flamoney ! gone ….
    and now bert …

i told pat this would happen ! ok not hleb but the rest !
worst case scenarios and it can only happen to AFC !

we have gone from over stocked in the midfield .. or maybe just well stocked ….
    too cupboards empty !!!

Anyone who thinks we will play the same style of football next season has been
in the English sun too long !
Someone said earlier the papers are just jealous of our style of play ..
more like they are rubbing it in that those days are numbered unless we get replacements ..and if we even do… how long will they take to settle in ????

It will be more ‘ass’ than ‘class’, if we manage to get anything from this season !!!!
another ground hog ‘piss it up the wall’ year !

maybe by the year 2017 when walcott hangs up his boots we might win something ?
i hope im not on a dialysis machine by that stage however !

  34. Patrick7

SFO G – I see AW as acting for our needs and using the stats and science that have come into the game. When a player shows less mileage consistently on the pitch and isn’t carrying an injury, he watches him and looks for a good contract to satisfy his needs at that stage. Normally this happens from about 30 onwards. Surely that’s good management.

PV got a 5 year contract; Gilberto looks to have a 3 year one, TH had a good one also. Players know the score. Hleb got a bit of a kicking in the PL last year so is keen to get out. He would have got a pay rise and new contract if he’d stayed but the Spanish or Italian leagues looked a bit easier and still give him a pay rise and a change of scenery and weather, never mind the crap about noise!

  35. BOY BETTER KNOW

?????? ARE ARSENAL TO GOOD TO DROP OUT OF THE TOP 4 THIS SEASON???its in caps because it is a question

  36. Patrick7

Raif – I’ve always said that his defence leaves a lot to be desired and players like Cygan, Senderos, Eboue………………….should have been dumped ages ago as accidents waiting to happen every time we defend an attack. I’m still unsure of Almunia but maybe when he has a defence that’s sound in front of him he’ll show more of his attributes.

I appreciate the positives and am not of the current generation of ‘I want it now or I’ll scream and scream’. As long as I see progress (and I think we have had that) I’m happy but NOW we should be winning something and if that doesn’t happen I shall be miffed! Funnily enough my 26 year old son seems to have even more patience.

  37. rico01

Don Howe – cant help but love him

Come on Guys – Lets say Fuck them, if they want to leave one of the greatest clubs they will ever get the chance to play for then I really say to them

‘Thank you, Good Bye, and Break a Leg…. because that is what could happen.

As Don Howe said, they have been taught by the best staff at Arsenal, and wont get that anywhere else –

I never ever believed we could survive after

1st – Petit and Overmars – WE DID
2nd – Paddy, Edu and ‘Grimandi’… WE DID
    3rd – Bobby P and Freddie – WE DID
    4th – Thierry Henry – WE DID

Now anyone if you dare, tell me that either…. Hleb, Ade, Flamoney or Gilberto are at this moment in time EQUAL or BETTER than anyone I have listed….????

They are not, and we WILL survive, in fact, we will be better….;)

  38. Patrick7

BBK – Definitely not. If AW doesn’t get his arse into gear we could drop several places. Some of the damage could happen with a poor start as a result of rebuilding the gaps that are opening up from player outages! Crucial fortnight has started.

  39. choy

    the eternal light shines bright!!!

rico.. but i don’t think we’ve won anything since row 2 left?!!!

  40. Abdenor

BBK – No one is too good to drop out of the top 4, it could happen but can’t see it, people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon.

Lets see what the manager will do first as i think a lot of changes will be made still and yes players will come in…. mark my words.

  41. stevie

So Gilberto could be off after all, if thats so then surely we are gona see a bit more movement now in the transfers if he & Hleb are leaving…..

  42. dennisedamenace

Where’s our ‘secret’ new signing, we need him now more than ever the 4’10″ mungler!!

  43. dennisdamenace

Where’s our ’secret’ new signing, we need him now more than ever the 4′10″ mungler!!

  44. El Tel

Don Howe left winning teams at Arsenal for T.Neill then George Graham. He was coach for Bertie Mee when we had the double winning side. He was with Bobby Robson and even helped Venebles when England were good. He wasn’t a good Manager but he was a fantastic coach who is very loyal to Arsenal and helped put us where we are today. Good to see the old boy looking very well on MUTV (SSN) earlier.

Aw could do with someone like Howe at his side, and for sure the defence would be better.

  45. dennisdamenace

I don’t think AW wants anyone around him who has an opinion that would challenge his views on ‘pretty’ football……….hence no Monkey Head or TA at the club!

  46. El Tel

I don’t think we will drop from the top 4 and I believe we could improve but there will need to be a few players coming in as the experience has/will be gone.

  47. El Tel

    DDM

i agree and this I think is where it goes wrong. The whino up North always has a decent assistant but Arsen sticks with Paddy Rice who is a great bloke but looks like a manequin on the bench.

  48. dennisdamenace

I work with PR’s son, and openlt admits that his dad knows very little about who’s coming and who’s going!!

  49. dennisdamenace

    choy……………you ready for this………………Arsene knows……………..boom boom!!

  50. choy

lol.. i thought he said that the fans were going to get re assured….

    well news buddy…..

we’re going paranoid.. we’ve lost lehmann… flamini.. and two more may follow…

    is this reassurance?

  51. dennisdamenace

I know he’s been a bit flakey performance wise recently, but i’m gonna miss Bertie………

  52. patthegooner

    Could be 3 more Choy

    Lehmann
    Flamini
    Gilberto
    Hleb
    Adebayor

Not good at all, I am not confident at all in his ability to replace these guys and buy the ones that we already needed, in my mind if all 5 go, then we need at least 7 in.

If this was Barca, there would be a vote of no confidence, and before anyone else tells me to relax cause there is another 7 weeks left of the transfer window

No I wont fucking relax, it was the same story last summer and the one before that.

I want action now, no more fucking words of belief, Desire and REASSURANCE

  53. dennisdamenace

It’s becoming harder and harder to have any faith or belief in the management of our club, they seem hell bent on having the cheapest squad in the EPL, these money making/saving drives and youth policies have gone too far now…….

  54. dennisdamenace

Ha ha ha choy, the sooner the fucking better mate.

However, i honestly believe that should we get £30m+ for our Togo Toerag, none of it will be reinvested in the first team……….

  55. raif

Patrick7 – fear shout mate. its really odd being a arsenal these days. we dont know weather were comming or going, great football to watch but nothing at the end of it. our time must come but we have been saying that for many seasons on the trot now.

im optimistic as always i just hope the potless seasons comes to an end very soon other wise the fans will turn on the club.

  56. dennisdamenace

Actually thinking about it, it’s probably much like TH14′s deal from last year, so it’s either £12m up front now or £16m in instalments, and we know how much PHW & Co love a bank balance……..

  57. choy

according to the press cnuts… it is 12.5 upfront… 2.5 depending on them winning the league in the next two years!!!

where do these guys get all this from?

  58. El Tel

    Guys

I am not a newbie as some sites are calling the people for getting the arse about Wenger. I have been an Arsenal fan since the late 60′s.

I am just fed up with the lies and spin we are getting, if our Manager told us we would be doing business but wasn’t sure of the timescale we could probably be rest assured but HE gave us the deadlines HE said we would have 3 new players that our fans would be happy about. HE said he had money.

If he was true and honest then maybe his players wouldn’t fuck off and maybe the true fans wouldn’t put up with the nonsense he puts us through.

I am fortunate that I don’t have to pay to watch the Team i love so much but this bollocks with playing reserve players in matches he deems of less importance is just ripping off the guys who pay to see their hero’s.

My nephew gets to see probably 4 games at home per year my Brother pays about 120 quid each visit and to matches where he has rested the big players that my nephew wanted to see live.

I am getting fucking angry and i dont have to pay. I will stick up for everything Arsenal to any person but us Gooners.

We are Arsenal Football Club and Wenger works for us and if we don’t like what is happening then we should be allowed to let him know.

  59. GMR

Patrick7, I didn’t mean you’re starting to ‘sound like a spurs fan’ the way it come across on here, so I apologise for that. I won’t bother trying to explain how I meant it because it’ll probably take me a 1000 lines to get the explanation right!!

Anyway I agree with you there was progress last season, but I think most of that was due to Henry leaving. This summer its about players hitting their peak leaving, & thats a far different scenario. Wenger seems far to willing to let people leave without having replacements signed & whilst I always here the same thing, “Wenger will have a plan & will sign the players we need”, history doesn’t really back that up. He sells players & then hopes to conclude deals which far too often don’t happen & us, the fans, are the ones that suffer.

If Gilberto, Hleb, Flamini, Adebayor & Lehmann do all end up being departures this summer then we need a minimum of 8 arrivals (7 now as Vela is one but I won’t include Ramsey because he is 17 & not a first team player). That just isn’t going to happen, so for all Wenger’s spouting at the end of last season a large portion of us aren’t going to be reassured like he promised. You cannot argue that we failed last season due to a lack of quality & experience when we suffered injuries & our squad will be weaker not stronger!!

  60. El Tel

I was under the impression Barca still owe us dough for TH14, if they can’t pay lets send the bailiffs there and reposses their valuables.

  61. choy

    nice rant el tel…

it was absolutely humiliating in the cup defeats.. its not like we won the other two(PL and CL) either…. which was the reason wenger gave.. he was not after the two cups..

felt really sad for the fans that had to make the trip to shite hart lane and old cnut ford….

  62. Abdenor

If we avoid the sort of injuries we suffered last season then we won’t need many people to come in, a CB and a defensive midfielder + replacements for Hleb ans Ade if they call it quits……… and we’re set!

  63. El Tel

    Pat /GMR

I think you both make good points.

We do have great youngsters coming through and they can step up but they won’t win us anything this year or next. Wenger will never sign 7 players and if he did only 2 will be first team material.

Looks like another year with Eboue keeping out Theo etc.

    This isn’t good enough.

  64. dennisdamenace

My brother and my mates made that trip to OT for the FA Cup, fucking shocking, AW’s now relegated the FA Cup to the same standing as the CC…………….

  65. El Tel

    Thanks Choy

It wasn’t just the away games you described though mate. Pool at home in the league was poor and the Spuds in CC at our place. Villa, Boro at home also.

You are right and the point I was trying to make is that we didn’t put our best teams out in CC and FAC matches.

This strategy is flawed and doesn’t work. He must rethink this season coming as another FAC would let him off the hook for another year. Personally couldn’t give a shit about the CC

  66. El Tel

    DDM

You are right and the FAC would have cheered us up a bit last season I reckon. Especially if we beat them Mancscum cunts along the way.

  67. Patrick7

Raif – Me too! I’m hoping the potless years were the last 3 and this is the one where it all kicks off…………..and kids in the pipeline to fill the gaps, well that’s AW’s plan I presume.

But these 3 chasing the money, or whatever, will have upset his plans so he has to dip into the kitty for replacements; mind you I’ve heard him say if he can improve an area for the right price he will do so and he’s got a list of players he would like with priorities. Lets hope they meet OUR hopes as well and we crush all before us!

El Tel – If AW doesn’t play the kids in the ‘weaker opposition’ matches, when will they get their experience; the modern game with its demands needs rotation. If they’re loaned out to gain it, we not only can’t use them when we have injuries or tired players that need freshening up but we stand the chance of losing them to those clubs looking after them. We proved last season with no BIG names that teamwork is the name of the game, Greece did it in the previous Euro’s & Turkey nearly won this one. Talent and application with belief makes things possible. Unless SHIT happens as I believe occurred last season …………………………………………

  68. El Tel

The only way for me personally Arsen can cheer things up is if he beats the Mancsum to the signing of the Hunter as them horrible cunts will say you can stick Sir Alf we got the real deal. Get Villa or Silva. And to buy a Keeper and fuck off the imposter we have at the moment.

Why does nobody come in for Almunia. Eboue,Hoyte, Senderos ? its not because they are loyal to the Arse really is it.

  69. dennisdamenace

The proper way to blood the youngsters is to play one maybe two at a time in an experienced first team, not fill the whole first team full of the fuckers, who do they learn from, what’s the good of results like 5-1 away to the Spudz, what good will that do any of them??

  70. GMR

Abdenor, why would we need to sack more?? Wenger said he needed 3 players & that none were leaving. Lehmann & Flamini have gone plus its looking likely that Hleb, Ade & Gilberto will follow shortly so thats 5 out. 5+3=8.

He brought in Vela so only another 7 needed & we’ll have the squad Arsene said we needed!!

  71. El Tel

    Spot on Patrick.

I want the kids to play but in big games maybe 2 players to be in the squad not 5/6. Let the fans pay reserve team dough to watch the kids and if its by accident then refund after the game. Other teams have rotation but they don’t have as many kids as us and what exactly did Turkey and greece win in the Euro’s they will be forgotten in time just like we will for being runner up.

I agree that we were very unlucky last year and I believe we were cheated but Wnger played some very out of normal teams in some big matches and we got done. He also made mistakes in matches we were dominating by making poor decisions. He made Avram Grant look like a Master tactician at the Chavs when we were all over them. Senderos will take the blame for that though so wtf

  72. finestcuts

Six lads were given pro contracts + Ramsey. The experienced players have yet to come on board….we hope!

  73. david

When Wenger played weaker teams in the cup, he used to have a bench full of first team players to bail them out if it went wrong..

Now he has third team players on the bench…

  74. El Tel

The rotation system aslo isn’t exactly the answer either. Settled teams do better than those who chop and change every match. We did better when we had a similar line up week in week out a couple of years ago. rotation si so teams can have players they don’t want their opponents to have sit on their arses and taking the money. CC yes play the kids but the FAC is still a big trophy in England.

  75. Patrick7

GMR – Thanks but I knew the way you meant it; no offence taken!

El Tel – Agreed. He won’t buy 7 but does he need to. We’ve discussed Song/Toure being used in midfield and Diaby but we need another for Flamini’s reliability, terrier-like qualities and will to win. Additionally most will agree (AW not) we need a taller dominant CB who will attack the high-ball. Senderos is OK against the weaker teams but out of his depth in some cases and preferably needs replacing.

If Nasri replaces Hleb on the creative front we still need a striker for Ade if he leaves. RVP is too fragile and Vela/Theo/Eduardo would be gambles alongside Bendtner. We need to win something THIS year and guarantee success not wing it on a prayer!

If we get some experienced PL players preferably in, Santa Cruz would suit me for one, then I would be much happier; none and we’re going backwards!

  76. gunnerfever

    GILBERTO IS LEAVING TOO :(

Arsenal’s acting Managing Director, Ken Friar is reported to have agreed conditions in principle with Nikos Pateras, Chairman of the Athens based club. Greek daily Sportday quotes Friar as saying “As far as I know the player and agent will travel to Athens to meet with the Panathinaikos people. If Gilberto reaches agreement then we will reach agreement with Panathinaikos.”

The same source also reports Gilberto stating that “I have no problem to come to Greece if financially happy. We will get the proposal in my hands and then stop to think about it.”

If there is a potential stumbling block it is that the player is looking for a 3 year deal while the Greek offer of €2.5m per year is for 2 years with the 3rd year conditional on him playing at least 50% of available games in the 2nd year.

Gilberto`s quiet dignity has won him many admirers at the club. His professionalism in accepting a much reduced role last season in marked contrast to that displayed by some other players

best of luck berto and thanks for the memories.

  77. finestcuts

Yeah it’s a shame but at least he could play a part in winning the Greek title with Panathinaikos, he’s earnt his transfer as in he’s given the club many years of quality service and was forced to sit on the bench……and he probably would have had he decided to stay this season. Best of luck Gilberto, thanks for representing Arsenal, thanks for keeping Arsenal in the Champions League in the 06/07 season, without your dedication and goals we could have even missed out on a UEFA cup place.

  78. Patrick7

El Tel – Greece won the previous Euro’s! Agreed Turkey failed due to injuries and suspensions (sounds familiar) but their teamwork was great.

Rotation as we have done it to date (not like the Poos). Unfortunately we had too many sicknotes last year so resting players was not an option at times resulting in our flagging as the line approached last year. I think AW fielded those sides that flopped because he had no choice and unfortunately Bert’s rust didn’t help the situation and I’m not making him the scapegoat, that was one of the unfortunate symptoms: we had a ‘mare (a confidence thing in the circumstances) and our rival/s were on their game/s.

  79. rico01

We talk about 5 leaving – but

    Lehman – Retired
Flamoney – Fuck face that played out his contract when he could have signed
Gilberto – he knew he had to move for football reasons
Hleb – Fed up with the Uk (so he says)
Ade – Greedy Cnut, who needs to watch a few games of himself playing and missing!!

So what in real terms could our club do to keep the above – and in reality, which one/two of the above would we want the club to pull out all stops to keep??

I say, replace Hleb and Ade, and I wouldnt give a toss about them, add to that a gutsy CM and CH and we are looking good

    Not so AKB – eh??

  80. choy

gilberto will be missed.. he had a good end to the season though…

the lovely assists for both the theo goals vs derby and sunderland and his goal at the emirates!!!

and all this while didn’t make a lot of noise.. where will we find such people again!!!

  81. rico01

choy – I for one will miss Gilberto, he could have had a few shite games at the end and i would still miss him. He has been a true professional, and a fantastic man throughout his AFC career. I hope the move falls through and he stays, but I wish him well what ever happens. Many of those we seem to discuss could learn from his attitude and commitment – they will never ever be even half the man of GILBERTO :)

  82. Patrick7

    Nice one Rico!

I disagree on just one, Flamini. The club failed to offer him a contract before last season and maybe at the beginning when he was playing ‘out of his skin’. I’m not sure when he was eventually offered one and that might have been too late, especially when a club that he had always wanted to play for came up with a wage that just could not be turned down……………………….He could have been making excuses but he played out his contract as well as his legs could carry him – all the squad were knacked at the end! He carried the fight to win in each match and I thought he showed more winning drive than WG.

Bring on the CM & CH eh?

  83. rico01

Patrick – that has been alledged, but is there any proof – what about Jan, was he not offered a contract then?? dont want to be hyper critical, but he did give away a few stupid free kicks towards the end of the seaso, CL Pool game was one i think – also i dont think he played the final 3-4 games did he ? could be wrong on all accounts though…..

  84. Abdenor

I agree with Patrick, Flamini will be the hardest to replace as i feel he was our most important player last season!

Whoever takes his place has to be someone dynamic with a fierce tackle!

  85. GMR

I agree we aren’t going to sign another 7 players but this is my whole point. Unless Wenger buys 7 more first team players (not kids) then our squad WILL be weaker than Arsene has said himself it should be.

I keep hearing about how some of the kids will step up but what kids you all talking about???? Diaby, Denilson, Traore etc were all used as part of the squad last season so none of those are adding to it. If however your telling me that Gibbs or Randall, two players that couldn’t even get into championship teams are going to step up then I’m sorry but I don’t hold any confidence in that happening!!

  86. Patrick7

I haven’t seen any datelines of Flamini’s dealings so can’t prove it either way. Yes he was at fault in a couple of his last games but he was totally nacked at that point which probably contributed to his injury which was why he didn’t play the last games.
He wasn’t alone in making mistakes though due to the tiredness suffered by all who did not have replacements. My son said he had to be subbed in one match I think half way through as he was out on his feet!

  87. Patrick7

I thought many were saying Barazite and a few others were ready to move up and I guess AW will use Ramsey after Xmas if not before. Diaby, Denilson & Traore will presumably get a larger proportion of games and he may start with Senderos at CB to build his confidence. All will be a bit stronger and hopefully better than last year.

Until we see who he brings in and how they perform it’s difficult to know but people with better football knowledge than me got it totally wrong last year ………..Let’s see what the next fortnight brings. Don’t want to wait too much longer as they’ll need to settle in and we need to win that CL qualifier!

  88. BOY BETTER KNOW

if arsenal do not replace hleb, flamini or even ade for that matter there is serious trouble ahead i.m.o.the signings of ramsey or nasri? just will not be good enough arsenal are in for it big time.im really worried this situation is not very good

  89. SIMON MCAHON

those other sites that critise us for voicing our opinions on the pathetic way we seem to handle transfer dealings keep saying we are morons because wenger has got till midnight august 31st to reinforce the squad so lets respect the manger and stop panicking ,
I’m SORRY THIS IS BOLLOCKS , take a look at the squad as it stands today 9 days after the transfer window opened ,
our esteamed boss telling us that we need to sell before we buy,
boardroom unrest , obviously due to financial issues,
THEIR ANSWER IS WE SHOULD ALL SHUT UP AND GO AND WATCH THE CHAVS , OR MANURE .
BEST WISHES TO YOU BERTIE , I FEEL WE STABBED YOU IN THE BACK WITH REGARDS TO THE CAPTAINCY, that arrogant blue is not worthy , at least you tried to lead by example , so thanks for everything ..
Why cant our board and boss for once rally us all with major transfers at the begining of pre season , imagine how great that would make all us GOONERS feel .

great shout EL-TEL i’m with you 100% on that Comment about our crap spanish clown of a goalkeeper , alas i think nothing is going to be done on this issue so me and you will have to cross our fingers and bite our lips on this one.

  90. SIMON MCAHON

on a much lighter note just seen a trialer for that crap remake of GLADIATORS ,ON SKY…
BUT WOW HOW FIT IS THAT BIRD INFERNO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats a big WOW….. YOU WOULD!!!!!!!!

  91. ethangunner

    patrick 7
i think you would get on better at a blog called ACLF ! i think both you and ‘A’ should check it out ! you both sound like your from there to begin with ! Seriously !
with that giddy haze of faith that oozes from you , even when all signs are pointing south ….
you both think somehow things will work itself out !

i think you fail to see that we didn’t make it across the finish line in 1st place last season . and havent for the past several seasons !!!
& with jens-diarra-hleb-flamini-ade-bert all going and 1.. 17 year old replacing all of them currently , with about 5 weeks to go in the transfer period, this is a borderline crisis for the club !

We all know we cannot, and will not replace the leavers with the experience needed due to money restrictions ! and if so the experience wont match the quota leaving by a long shot !!!!
Hence putting us further behind the 8 – ball than last season !

I want to feel the excitement of signing a class player to give us some hope !!!! Ive watched chevski- man U -liverpool and even the spuds and the manC’s do it season after season ! We haven’t……. yet everyone is delusional enough to believe we have a chance !!!

the youth policy and wage structure doesn’t work ! END OF !!!
IT NEEDS SCRAPPING NOW ! – but our board wont !!! ’cause there greedy fuckers !
that think about the Stadium and business end 1st !!!!
and whilst i believe we need to play the youth to get them up to scratch , we as a club cannot afford another 12 months of rebuilding and failure !
However it might take that for most fans to start using there fucking brains …..

We have seen for several seasons now that it simply doesn’t work ! AT ALL !!!!
    FUCK !!!!!
in principal it could work if all players were as skillful as the boss thought they were at 16 … but eboue – senderos – denilson- song -johan-hoyte have had 2 many free lunches ! maybe sat on the side lines too long ! who knows?
and why haven’t they gone on to better clubs ?
because they are bottom of the barrel crap players that no one wants and will now make up the bulk of our bench next season (plus 1st team !) !
thats what killed us last season , and nothing magical has happened in 2 months too change the fate of these players !

Sure they might do well at chalton or wigan , be we aren’t chalton or wigan !
    (well not yet !)

how this club can be skint and refuses to pay high wages is beyond me ..
how the club can charge for the most expensive ticket in the EPL to watch a game of
kids in arsenal shirts is pathetic ,and makes a mockery of the Average fan who spends his hard earned money on going to the game every week or likewise like myself who pays the cable rights to see all 10 Epl games a week !

    currently its a shambles !
and wenger needs to spend and do it soon !

and by waiting for so long to get our 1st real signing , it doesn’t muster up any hope that when we do sign a player that it will be the experienced campaigner we need to turn it into a winning one !!!

we need several big names .. not 1 … several !!!

  92. gnarleygeorge9

Haven’t heard anything on the news about any plane crash in Manchester, in particular Old Trafford, so Geoff must have made it up there safely.

Be carefull what you say Geoff, with manures outstanding huge debts, they probably have old trafford insured for over £850,000,000 more than its actually worth. that being £851,000,000.

Its just a series of add ons over the years. Looks old fashioned & dowdy compared to The Emirates.

  93. ethangunner

we should insure our players against leaving !
but the only problem is the only players we have left are only able to be insured for 2 pound 50 pence each a season ! (relative to there value ! )

  94. Evo in OZ

EPL goals of the season is on. just saw the fabregas-kanu jnr goals from the spuds game, fucking brilliant really!

  95. gnarleygeorge9

    Evo

you know after all this 2ing & frowing of Ade, I don’t reckon he’ll go you know ;) but I won’t mention it to Ethan.

  96. Evo in OZ

im not sure whats gonna happen, i reckon if we did infact put the 35mil price tag on, i think its warranted! Barca-Milan need to pay us back for all the cunt acts they’ve done in the past!

Anelka got blooper of the season in the EPL show! brilliant!

  97. gnarleygeorge9

I agree, its time to make a stand/statement with these vultures from Italy & spain. Either put up or fuck off!!

  98. Evo in OZ

what ill probably be disappointed about for a long while is that we didnt by either Torres, Berbatov or Tevez!

Wenger has made comments about all of them, yet they were available and arent on our list!

  99. gnarleygeorge9

I tell you what, I rate Berbatov. At first I thought he might just be a long ball type forward, but the more I saw of him last season, the more i liked.

If we could steal him from those lilywhites that would be lubbly jubbly as Del boy used to say.

  100. Evo in OZ

hahaha…agreed gnarley! He has superb ball control, dribbling and can strike and head goals from anywhere!

  101. gnarleygeorge9

    Evo

just changing the pace on footy codes a bit, this new Kiwi coach the Wallabies have, Robbie Deans looks the goods. I can see a new era happening with bum sniffing in OZ. First the Bledisloe Cup, then the World :)

  102. Evo in OZ

most kiwis i know are supremely pissed off that we got him for our new coach!

They know how good he is and that he could coach us to some wins over the all blacks!

  103. Evo in OZ

what do you make of this?

ARSENAL are about to lose two key players, with midfielders Alexander Hleb and Gilberto on their way out of the Emirates.

Hleb has agreed a four-year deal with Spanish giants Barcelona and could be gone by the weekend for about $15 million.

Gilberto is expected to join leading Greek club Panathinaikos for $2 million.

Reports in Britain say Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will use the money from both deals to finance his purchase of French international Samir Nasri, who starts training in London next week.
