Hleb – I didn’t say that. Ade – yeah he’s for sale???

OK the two things we were talking about yesterday did a complete U turn today, Hleb said ‘In some newspapers it was mentioned that I have attacked Arsene Wenger and Cesc Fabregas. But let me tell you: This is not true!‘, and according to Sky Sports news, AC Milan have said Arsenal have written to them and said they are prepared to sell Ade.

Someone is telling porkies! The thing is whoever is telling the odd fib, as an Arsenal fan it’s embarrassing and worrying, Arsenal should come out and show their hand once and for all, let the fans know their intentions.

Someone on here yesterday said it was all lies and just the press causing trouble, well Arsenal should come out and say that then, he did when the rumour was we were after a centre back, christ he even interrupted his lucrative commentating deal to do that, so don’t tell me Arsenal are above all that, perleeeease!

Wenger saying we have to pay back £24 million a year for 17 years is just rubbish, that’s £408 million, how can we have got all that money in from sponsors plus the sale of Highbury, plus treble match revenue for 2 years, plus transfer surpluses, plus prize money and have paid nothing off the £450 million it cost to build the stadium.

And before anyone says Highbury square hasn’t been sold yet, I know that, but deposits have been taken and 90% have been sold, or are the ads just lies as well? And that goes in 2009.

It’s complete nonsense, we are being treated like children, and fed bullshit lines like that, where does all our money go?

We were told we had to move to compete, they forget to add ‘but not in your lifetime’

Anyway ManU have to pay £63 million a year in interest, make less per game than we do and still spend millions every year on new players, if this board don’t watch it, they’ll lose the support of the small shareholder and then they’ll be a takeover and then whoever buys it will plunge the club into massive debt, just like the Glazers did, so all this bollocks will be in vain.

I read somewhere that 7 out of Wenger’s 12 years have been pot-less, that, my friends is a poor return for a club of our stature.

All is not lost though as we can still buy this season and win the lot, and that is what is so frustrating to us the fans.

GMR is trying to get a meeting between Arsene or Danny and us, so we can ask all these questions, so maybe we’ll find out eh? don’t hold your breath, but if you don’t try, you don’t get, so good luck GMR.

Another day of nothing, still no Nasri, but hey! who knows, it could be today.

Have a good’un Grovers!

    your right 4 – 1st’s and odub ..

    hahaha !

  15. dennisdamenace says:

That’s actually a good bit of leverage, to threaten the board with the sale of all small share holders shares to the highest bidder (Jabba) unless we get some answers, it’s the only thing that will get a response out of those ivory towers tossers……..

  16. tbuzz says:

Damn, is my pc that slow??
    I jest…I jest :)

Morning all. As far as Iam concerned, its goodnews that Arsenal are willing to listen to Milan’s offer. I can stand Ade anymore and Odub, apologies for asking you to give Ade a chance last season…he’s an Arseh*le!!

  17. rico01 says:

Morning Campers – Guess who is still asleep :)

Good Read again on a very miserable morning…..

I was bored with the Hleb and Ade thing ages ago, are they both trying to push us fans over the edge!! AW Get it sorted, and stop feeding us BULL about finances, we are wise enough to know you are trying to justify not spending, well it does not wash with us.

And Benitez is making Villa his priority signing – Bollox!!

  18. ethangunner says:

With Alexander Hleb on the brink of a move to Barcelona, Nigel Winterburn has admitted that Arsenal are a “selling club”.

winterburn expects hleb to leave !
    no shit sherlock !

  19. Arsenal Tom says:

theres so much bullshit around, yesterday ade was gonna get 60k a week today we’re selling him!!1

  20. James73 says:

Excellent piece Geoff, the bullshit coming out of the club these days really is sickening. And so many of our fans lap it up!

  21. dennisdamenace says:

When Villa signs for The Thieving Scoursers and teams up with Torres, then they score 50+ goals between them propelling LUFC above us, we’ll hear AW say how he considered buying him and that he’s always admired Villa natural ability etc etc………pathetic!

  22. Odub says:

    I concur tbuzz!

ATom, that’s why I’m sticking to Le Grove until the season starts. No point going on Newsnow, you’ll just end up with a headache!

Might also check arse.com from time to time to see who the top 9 greatest players are, oh and the new website….that about it really!

  23. choy says:

    and the wait continues….

  24. Pierre says:

I read yesterday that we want £36m for Adebayor from Milan, and they won’t pay that, plus there was supposed to be a Barca offer over the weekend and that never appeared I get a bad feeling that we will be stuck with him…

  25. dennisdamenace says:

When the club makes no statements whatsoever, it gives a free license to all the red tops to print whatever they like. The silence from the club is quite deafening, they really treat us like shit……..

  26. choy says:

pierre i think he’s gone.. we’re just playing hardball.. do you really think anyone will pay 36 mill.. if we get an offer of 25-30 mill.. i reckon he’s gone

  27. JOhn says:

Nasri’s Training kit was ordered at the emirates.

hes ours and has been since June.

  28. Odub says:

Yeah DDM, I can see it now…..Villa scores hat trick for the poo, cue AW press conference the following week…..

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club nearly made a bit for David Villa. He said the club baulked at the amount being requested for the spanish goal scorer, which at the time was £5 million and 25 nike tracksuits.

Wenger said ‘We did not see the sense in spending that much on a player who is 4 years away from his 30th birthday, and has not played anywhere but in the spanish league’

Arsenal have since signed 14 year old the Burkina Faso striking protege Mandingo Dkembe Dkembe!

  29. Patrick7 says:

Great post! Good luck to you and GMR on the meeting. We all look forward to some REAL news & quality signings.

  30. dennisdamenace says:

It would be laughable if it wasn’t so true Odub!

it’s as if the whole Arsenal heirachy are actually genuinely surprised when an expensive purchase does the buisiness!!

  31. Geoff says:

How do you know that JOhn? and welcome aboard.

Odub I’m so excited about the new signing, tell me more.

    Patrick, thanks!

  32. Pierre says:

choy, i really hope you’re right, if I was in the driving seat i would have taken the £24m Barca allegedly offered for him. Of course just selling him is not much use, we also need to bring in a replacement. On the Nasri subject, I havn’t got a clue why its so protracted but I’m sure it will happen.

  33. Geoff says:

Shoot me if you will but I think De La Red would be a good buy.

  34. dennisdamenace says:

Geoff – Apparently he’s 4ft 10in, and every quick over two yards, but Odub is wrong he’s a CB not a striker……..

  35. Odub says:

Geoff any bloody signing would be a good one, as long as he’s over 21 and has played CL football for a half decent outfit!!!!

No I dont mean Peter Crouch!!

  36. Geoff says:

That tall eh? he should be ready when we’re out of debt and I’m dead!

  37. BB says:

Nasri must have signed for us .. he isnt training with Marseille either and Gerets said that Wenger would be mad if he let him train with his old team mates when they started their pre season as he went there to say goodbye.. thats not the issue any longer
you just wonder where the rot stops with Hleb/Ade ..
its all bollox of the highest order ..

  38. Odub says:

Yeah and our scouts discovered him playing in his uncles back garden near the country’s capital Ouagadougou!!

Might be right DDM he fits the height requirement for a CB in AW’s book! ;)

  39. finestcuts says:

Good morning Gooners and all other readers, regarding yesterdays Hleb comments,
it is alleged that some of it was mistranslated. I saw an attempt by another blog to
use google translator to get a more accurate version (!). I come across mis-translations all the time and I must say that the level of professional translating is very pick ‘n’ mix
raging from the horribly wrong to the words being literally translated from one language to another because the translator hasn’t realised that a word is used in a different context in the language being translated from than the language being translated to. If you guys have any really crucial Arsenal information in Russian at any point in the future, and wish to get an accurate translation please contact me, it would cost me a favour but if it’s a big story I’ll do my best. I have not has the Russian Hleb story translated so I am unable to comment on it, but the fact remains that Hleb has seriosuly offended the Arsenal fraternity by his callous and disrespectful actions, and if there is to be a U-turn regarding his conduct it would be welcomed however he would have to prove he means his apology, whcich considering the circumstances is not too much to ask for.
Arsenal have to pay 24 million a year…..so we’re to understand that this is not a shortfall but the cost of yearly re-payments. Those were factored into spending forecasts before the statement was made, and considering that’s the income of approximately 7 home games (3.5 million gate income per game…..
3.5 * 7 = 24.5 million + food and drink + merchandise), we get that from our Carling cup and FA cup games, so yes there is a big bill to pay meaning resources are limited
but they’re not that limited considering the increased money from TV companies and
prize money. Wages have gone up, but so has the income of the club, so although we can’t afford to splash out on every superstar player under the sun, we can definitely afford to keep a few.
If you guys manage to get a meeting, how would it be organised, who would be eligble to go? Or would you do a podcast?

  40. dennisdamenace says:

Odub – Are you making this up fella???? Don’t be getting my hopes up now, i don’t think i can take anymore dissapointment………

  41. London says:

What position does De la Red play?

  42. Pierre says:

BB could it be Nasri isnt training with his old team because he’s on holiday still?

  43. Arsenal Tom says:

Mandingo Dkembe Dkembe… hes world class!!!

the villa thing is painfully realistic you can see it now…

‘we thought about buying him, but wernt sure if he could handle the premier league’ or some bullshit

  44. Odub says:

DDM I bet you at least one person will google his name to see if he really exists!! lol!!

For the record Ouagadougou is the capital of Burkina Faso

  45. dennisdamenace says:

So we’ll spend all fecking summer trying to sign Nasri, and all fecking summer trying to offload The Togo twinkle Toes and Hleb, leaving no time for anything else, so we’ll end up panic buying on the 31st August!

The gist of this moan is why of fecking why do all our transfer dealings have to be so protracted………….i say re-employ DD, coz with him on board none of this nonsense would happen.

  46. You realise that there’s interest to pay off as well. And wages. And ivory back scratchers. It’s not cheap, and 24 million over 17 years sounds pretty right. Face it; we’re a selling club until a huge chunk of the loan is paid off, or until we lose the fanbase or lose the CL spot. 3rd or 4th place with a youth policy is a VERY cushy position, from a financial point of view.

  47. mayank says:

hi geoff…we are in for de la red

Arsenal and Tottenham must break the bank to land Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red.

The Sun says the North London rivals are big admirers of the Spanish international, 23, who will cost around £15million.

i hope we get him,,,he looks a great player.

  48. dennisdamenace says:

Odub – I bet some of those really great ‘news agencies’ like tribal run a story later today, particularly if we keep mentioning the fellas name, maybe we should start having a game at their expense for a change……..

  49. Odub says:

DDM, how do you create a wikipedia page? If we could set one up with that name, I bet you it’ll be on Newsnow by tomorrow! lol!!

Remember the name folks…. Mandingo Dkembe Dkembe! ;)

  50. Pedro says:

Finestcuts… a podcast sounds like a decent idea!

  51. Evo in OZ says:

gday all and Geoff – i just want to quiz you on these words, what does it actually refer to?

“I read somewhere that 7 out of Wenger’s 12 years have been pot-less, that, my friends is a poor return for a club of our stature”.

  52. jules says:

morning all , john , why come on and make a statement like that then when asked to back it up not reply !??

  53. Potter says:

I read somewhere that 7 out of Wenger’s 12 years have been pot-less, that, my friends is a poor return for a club of our stature.

That’s because of our policy of chasing the Champions League holy grail.A slightly stronger team on at least three occasions would have landed the domestic cup competitions which would have taken the pressure away from both team and management.

  54. jules says:

any way great post Geoff , Pierre and all , before we all get to excited about getting 30 mill for adebayor , are we all assuming he will be replaced , what if as i suspect he is,nt !????

Don, t be surprised if he is,nt , THEN HOW WE GONNA FEEL ? I am really losing patience with what is going on . It is pathetic and embarrassing . we can not even manage to sign nasri without a long drawn out embarrassing saga .

  55. BB says:

pierre.. Nasri went to Marseille for their first training session .. there are pics around .. to say goodbye.. asked about him, Gerets said that he was as keen as ever .. the little stud and raring to go..but that surely our own good old Arsene would get pissed off if he saw his new protege train for them ..

whatever bollox is delaying the transfer, it doesnt matter much

more important is that net net it looks like there will be no strengthening of the side whilst we were short 3 players before our top performers from last season decided that enough was enough and more money was growing in more abundant quantities on greener trees in more attractive parts of this universe, we will only get replacement
but then I suppose that we are by now the poorest club ever having partaken in a professional competition,so we should be happy to still have at least 11 players available to form a full team .. we might have to do without the subs though

  56. Evo in OZ says:

hmmm fa cup you reckon, i seem to remember winning it a couple of years ago and the best part about it was the penalty shoot out the rest was poo!

  57. jules says:

bring back dd. Just listened to McClintock on talk shite , he made some good points . I agree with him when he said our bench is by far the weakest of the top four and feels the same thing may happen .

  58. Pedro says:

Just had the first AKB on of the day…

Edmund, old enough to have sat through the 70′s and 80′s.

‘The transfer market is game of smoke and mirrors and intentional deception – a game which Wenger seems to master perfectly.’

    Really?

  59. ethangunner says:

    evo you druggie !
he means arsene didnt get any silver ware !
not that arsene loves Amsterdam cafe’s !

    POT = silver cup !

Excellent interview, they had him on for an hour

He pretty much agrees with everything we have blogged about on here

  64. finestcuts says:

Was it for the thai stick Ethan?

  65. Geoff says:

Evo it means we’ve won nothing in seven years of trying! Finest, we don’t know yet, but GMR will update today I hope.

  66. Pierre says:

jules, i did say it wouldn’t be any good selling him unless we buy a replacement. Anybody know when the rest of the first team are due back in, hopefully things should atart to move before Plab and Ade get training with the rest of the lads?

  67. Pierre says:

Plab? Pleb or Hleb, not Plab

  68. Geoff says:

Frank is a Grover, I just heard about him, good man!

  69. Bud says:

Listen guys, relax……….. Benitez has now come out and said he is going after Villa because a deal has been agreed with Arsenal and that way he saves face as he has no money at Liverpool, so would not be able to afford him, but at least he can appease the fans by portraying the image he at least tried to get him………. Bud Knows !!!!!!

  70. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Geoff,

If you & GMR do get an audience with Arsene or Danny, can you get a photo?

  71. tbuzz says:

Wenger if not careful will just end up being like Curbishly@Charlton….donkey years at aresenal and just surviving the Prem year in year out. :(

They did say that the Nasri situation will be resolved “within 10 days”, but when will the “10 days” begin from…?

  72. Odub says:

The bear doesnt take pics GG9!

  73. gnarleygeorge9 says:

  74. Fab4 says:

“I read somewhere that 7 out of Wenger’s 12 years have been pot-less, that, my friends is a poor return for a club of our stature”.

But who is the man mainly responsible for the current stature of our club? Wenger may have had 7 seasons with no trophies, but compared to most managers in the world his record is superb. Don’t forget we have also had a lot of near misses:

1998-99 Missed out on league on last day of season by one point
    1999-00 Lost UEFA Cup Final
    2000-01 Lost FA Cup Final
2002-03 Led league for most of the year before being pipped by Man United
    2005-06 Lost Champions League Final
    2006-07 Lost Carling Cup Final
2007-08 Led league for most of the year before being pipped by Man United

  75. Geoff says:

Nice one Odub! it’s a big if Gnarley, but if we do I’ll try!

  76. ethangunner says:

    jules

i agree i dont think ade will be replaced with ‘quality’ either !
    i did when i 1st heard the rumors !
but then after going away and thinking about why the delay on signing ANYONE AT ALL for the last 6 weeks ?!
one has to presume we are cash strapped !
    dont ask me how !
but with no fresh faces in the club and only more leaving….
    the mind boggles !

but it seems with ade’s money we will probly get a young dudu style striker for 5+ mil and another midfield option !
Arsene is going insane i feel ! too much talent minus experience ….
anyone saying he is a great manager would have to start questioning the statement!

    anyhow then ….
nasri for hleb and …. ‘ there ends the shopping spree ‘!

    i only hope im wrong .. !

  77. Odub says:

    Of himself!!!!!!

The flash would turn him back into that blood thirsty grizzlie we all fair! ;)

  79. jules says:

    pierre .

don,t worry , i heard on from a good source we will replace him with jean jacque kazima abibabooma , 16 yr old . apparently he will be fucking great when he 26/ 27 years old when he will be ready to win things , so we,ve signed him so we can train him to be good then sell him when he is 22 before he wins anything.

  80. ethangunner says:

one of my friends goes there before you all start i havent smoked that shit in ages !!!

but if arsene keeps this up i might RE NEW MY MEMBERSHIP :)

  81. Jimmy says:

I wouldn’t worry about cash at the Arsenal. Has anyone read the Financial Reports from May 07. They say they only owe 255mil for the new stadium. That was last year. Arsene is playing games to keep prices and wages down. Trust the man he knows what he is doing

  82. Odub says:

What’s your point Fab4? Did we get a pot for any of those near misses? Well the quote’s accurate then isnt it?

  83. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Odub, Pedro once said that Geoff is like Kurt Angle with a Rolex & Georgio Armani suit.

  84. Geoff says:

We had an AKB on, he’s a little old but I’m going to answer him.

Old boy Edmund has asked was I upset when Wenger signed Eduardo, so I’ll explain.

Actually Edmund, yes I was pissed off, I wanted Fernando Torres, does that answer your question?

I have been going to the Arsenal since 1969 so I am qualified to know lean years but in the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s we didn’t have the vast amounts of money we do now, so go and amuse yourself on Arsenal.com and leave us alone.

  85. rico01 says:

Interesting comment I heard on TV yesterday re this fine game

The football fan is a master,
    The player is its servant.
    The servant plays,
    And the master pays………

Hleb and Ade – think about that philosophy!!

If we fans stop watching – there will be no money to feed your Greed !!

  86. Geoff says:

Gnarley, a Brioni suit, Armani is a little quiche.

  87. GMR says:

Good morning, I think its impossible to beat Rico to 1st place!! I’m convinced its a set up!!

I’ve just been to my little boys sports day but I’m going to get onto Arsenal this afternoon. I really want to meet Wenger but I can’t see that happening, maybe we’ll have some luck with one of the directors whoever that may be.

GG9, I’d love us to get a picture especially with Wenger holding a Le-grove sign (wouldn’t that just stick it to all the other blogs out there), however if Geoff & I are lucky enough to get the time of day it probably won’t last too long & may come across as being somewhat unprofessional asking for a photo. I suppose it all depends what happens though!!

Does anyone know if Geoff or Pedro are entitled to a sort of press pass for press conferences etc??. I’m sure I read previously somewhere else that website author’s can get them due to fact they are posting for a wide audience. I don’t have a clue myself but it’d be interesting to find out!!

  88. jules says:

ethan , hope you are wrong too mate , but it does,nt excactly bode well does it ?

we all agreed pretty much we only need two or three good signings to do the business
which we were led to believe would happen ( 2 months ago ) now if hleb , ade go , flam gone … we need five / six .. Dream on . no squad depth again !

  89. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Brioni? Whoops! sorry Geoff.

  90. Odub says:

GG9 that is actually a very accurate description!! Just add a cigar and a very evil glare!
Top bloke though, have met him Pedro and Bud, when you get all 3 together it does look like a scene from Good fellas though! lol

  91. Pablo says:

I’m sure Arsenal’s management think they’re working as Intelligence Officers for the government where their function is to put out mis-information to keep not only their opposite numbers confused but also their own fans. To understand anything coming out of the club nowadays, the average fan needs an Enigma machine of its own!

This summer I have really lost faith with the management, I honestly believe they have no customer/fan awareness and believe that we fans are thick. I’m tired of the broken promises and their constant whinging about finances when it suits. We are supposed to be an ambitious big club who moved to the new stadium so we could attract the best players, we cant even tempt players like Flamini, Adebayor & Hleb to stay!!!!

  92. ethangunner says:

    fab4

    yes your point ?
and if you want to analyze the last 4 years only .. the record even looks far worse !
you can only be as good as your last season !!!!

tell that too sven – grant etc… who dont even get 4 years to prove they can do better ..
thats how demanding the EPL is!!!!!
the sooner people at AFC and the fans get with the program the better!

  93. Patrick7 says:

Frank McLintock’s a great guy. He was great for us; & a REAL captain.

Met him when he was Leicester manager walking his dog several times near his home as used to train in the park with my running squad. He came down one morning as my coach had said he’d be welcome and joined in for a while ……..genuine GREAT GUY!

  94. jules says:

    right ho jimmy ,

my proirity is to keep the squad togeather , 2/3 quality signings in 2 weeks , i will be at euro,s with my cheque book , we need a centre back , oh we don,t need a centre back , my cheque book is,nt big enough . going great guns ain,t we

  95. Odub says:

Liam Brady – No 8 greatest player! And he’s got hair in the pics!!

  96. Mark C says:

I love the comments from Hleb.

He wants to clear up that he did not disrespect Febaregas or Wenger, but did not go as far as to say he loves Arsenal, and all of the talk about him leaving is crap.

Therefore, he wants to leave, he expects to leave.

    So pee off.

Ade, when are you going to say something similar, we are all waiting.

  97. ethangunner says:

    jules

to be honest to really compete with man U and chevski (+ plus who ever !?)
    we really need 5 or 6 …

    goalie- flamini replacement – wingers – a defender ..

and then you need to replace hleb and possibly the togo tosser !

  98. Evo in OZ says:

i dont understand, the only thing we didnt win was the CL?

im gonna go over to thailand and drink all ethan’s beer so he has none left!

  99. Pedro says:

I know what you mean about my evil glare odub… haha!

Press passes GMR? That would be interesting?

Pablo, Arsenal think they have a propaganda machine in place that Goering would envy!

Maybe they should do some market research on that aspect of their business… I think they’d be surprised!

Someone told me the Arsenal.com website is due a facelift?

  100. Bud says:

Ray Parlour is retiring from the game apparently…….. I thought he had already???

  101. ethangunner says:

    mark c

i think if ade said something to the ‘press’ no cunt would believe him NOW anyhow !
he makes the boy who cried wolf look like a fuckin amateur !

  102. eduard...0 says:

ade-bye-yawn is such a cunt….i saw him on sky sports and he was behaving like a galactico…one good season before season after season of mediocrity at Monaco…ungrateful tosser….i say get rid pronto, push nikki B because i honestly believe he will go on to become a much better marksman and targetman than ade. saw some arsenal TV last night (how shit is our channel??) and it reminded me HOW OFTEN he just gave away the ball from crap control…DICK HEAD! we bought him for 3M because that was what he was worth, take anything over 15M IMO but with these crazy prices we might as well go for 30….

  103. jules says:

i know ethan . we need quality depth in our squad , that has cost us , our bench has not been good enough . i don,t get this financial situation when you look at the figures and revenue generated . no one on here here wants to be like the chavs but we know what we need and it is not unreasonable to expect to be able to compete . I thought that s why we moved right !?

  104. eduard...0 says:

sorry maybe a lil OTT, the weathers shit today and its taken me over an hour to get from fulham to north L on the sodding tube gggrrrrrr

  105. dennisdamenace says:

Fab4 – Bottom line with those stats is that we won fuck all………….

  106. GMR says:

Pedro, I’ve just looked into that. You & Geoff would be entitled to a press pass as you are internet media, it would cost you about 52 euro’s to gain with (a completely legal & proper one) plus there would be an annual subscription fee of around 35-40 euro’s. Obviously as you own & run the site you would have to get them, but it should allow you into press conferences at Arsenal. You’d have to ask them directly first & probably get your name on a list so they can do the required checks but its definately worth considering!!

  107. ethangunner says:

    GMR ..

shit the only person worse to go interview wenger would be me !!! HAHAHA !
Well good luck mate .. but i wouldnt waste my time on a board member ..

because if hillwood can come out and say ade isnt for sale ..
then it only shows they haven’t even got a clue about their own club !
or the going’s on at it !!!

i couldnt see him answer your questions any more honestly than he does the presses !
and we all know how good he has been lately with promises !
I would invest your time and money in buying your lad a cesc arsenal shirt ..
it will be a collectors item next season when the cunt leaves !

    :)

  108. Fab4 says:

Odub, my point is that Wenger is the most successful manager in Arsenal’s history and that the club only has the stature it does now because of his management. The success Arsenal have had under Wenger is unprecedented in our history. Only Herbert Chapman and George Graham have come close to winning the number of trophies for the club. It is interesting that both of those had a win ratio of less than 50% as Arsenal manager (Chapman 49.88%, Graham 48.91%). Wenger’s win ratio for his games in charge is 57.36%.

The scousers have not won the league in 18 years now (that used to be our normal gap between titles), while United and Chelsea use their huge wealth to finance their success. To compare Wenger’s trophies won to Ferguson’s or Mourinho’s is pointless.

  109. Evo in OZ says:

come on lads, get rid of the bad-weather-itis- surely its summer over there?

im freezing my arse off today with 16 degrees….lets fire up!

  110. Odub says:

Well done GMR!! Between you 3 I’m sure our voices will get heard!

  111. kenyan gooner says:

morning all.such a sh*t y day.no one new posing in an arsenal shirt.GMR is u get to meet wenger could u tell him eboue is shit please

  112. GMR says:

ethangunner, I know what you mean, but if I fall very, very , very lucky & hit the 1% chance of getting the interview I want I wouldn’t chance ruining it.

I would speak to a board member if it was Fiszman or even Friar. As you say though PHW is more a figurehead than actually knowing anything thats going on.

  113. kenyan gooner says:

GMR if u get to meet wenger could u tell him eboue is cunt.

  114. tbuzz says:

Not ganging up against Fab4…but look at it this way.

José”Iam the special On”Mourinho ,made a comment about Arsene 2 seasons ago(i think).
He said he liked the situation at arsenal because Arsene hasnt won anything for years and yet he doesnt feel any pressure about losing his job. As much as Iam not a fan of Morinho, he made a good point….If Wenger was at Chelsea under Abramovich and hasnt won anything for 3-4years, can you honestly say that he’ll still be in the job?

    Just something to think about….

  115. Pedro says:

Fab4… Arsene has been a great coach, no one is denying that… but regardless of Wenger, Arsenal were on the way up.

David Dein would not have employed a duff coach to take us forward. In my opinion, we would have had a great coach in charge whatever happened and we were already looking at moving stadium before Arsene.

The boys on the board aren’t stupid and nor was Rioch before he got sacked. The foundations were laid down for Wenger, we were already attracting good players…

Don’t pin too much of where Arsenal are today on Wenger…

He has been great for the club, but that doesn’t mean if he went we would collapse.

  116. Odub says:

Fab4 as much as I hate saying this (I’m almost throwing up as we speak!)

I would take Red noses trophy haul over AW’s any day!!

Come on mate 10 PL titles, 5 FA Cup and 2 CL’s!!! COME ON!!

And re win % Pat Rice had 4 games in charge and had a 75% win rate, so I dont see the point of that stat at all!!

  117. charybdis1966 says:

Geoff – “Armani is a little quiche” – LOL, is that a cheese and bacon one ? Shurely you mean “kitsch”.

Very excited about the prospect of Dkembe Dkembe.

But seriously, de la Red would be nice, I recall a post on here a while back suggesting him. He’s got a good name to play for us. De la Red of the Reds(of London).

  118. Patrick7 says:

De la Red’s also got a blaster of a shot – nobody wants to stand in the wall if he’s taking a free kick – they jump out the way – magic! More potent than ‘sick note’ and company for Fab.

  119. GMR says:

Can I also point out that Wenger has only won the league title once without the majority of GG’s defence helping him, & he hasn’t won one real trophy (by real I mean a proper trophy not the emirates cup or amsterdam tournament) with completely his own squad. Bergkamp was part of all his successes & Rioch brought him in, Bergkamp is a player Wenger wouldn’t even consider buying because he was a well known big name despite the fact he was having a bad time in Italy!!

  120. Bud says:

De La Red was one of 10 players suggested to keep an eye on in the transfer market is Arsenals Official Mag !

Charybdis – Geoff did in fact mean Cheese……… you should see some of the things he wears………

SOMEONE ASK HIM ABOUT THE JACKET HE DRUNKENLY BOUGHT IN MARBELLA ON MY STAG……… to this day it still stands alone as the single most hideous thing ever bought by man !!!!!!!!!

  121. Fab4 says:

tbuzz – I am willing to bet that if you had Abramovich throwing the cash at you that Mourinho received, you would also have won a few trophies. Mourinho won 2 Carling Cups as part of his trophy haul, by playing his first team in a competition nobody else cares about.

It seems to me that a lot of Arsenal fans have been spoilt by the success that Wenger has brought them, and only in recent years when we have won nothing they are quick to complain.

I am not saying Wenger is infallible but when you have witnessed the football we played under the latter years of Georgie Graham, having a manager like Wenger is like a Godsend.

I will probably be denouced as an AKB now, but for me Wenger has earned the right to have a few barren seasons and near misses; considering our closest rivals have all been bankrolled by gazillionaires.

  122. AFC53 says:

The rollercoaster just keeps on going up and down will it ever end for us???

If we are just a selling club then why not move with the times and take foreign investment for christ sake at one point there were rumours Bernie Ecclestone wanted on board.

sad to say it football is now a business and like so many around us you have to spend money if you dont spend you dont compete.

  123. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Chary, maybe Geoff mean’t that the bloke Armani is a small savory omlete in a pastry base. A lot of Italian names are similar to some form of food or beverage.

  124. david says:

    Wenger:

The team when he joined included
    Seaman,
    Dixon, Bould, Keown, Adams, Winterburn,
    Parlour,
    Wright, BERGKAMP.

He was lucky that the french were on the way up and he had a better knowlege than other managers in this country.
Then he started rebuilding the side still mainly using his experience of french players but spending biggish money on players.

But now the other EPL teams have caught up and they know about the same players as Wenger and we spend no money.
Hence 4 years of Jack S***.

  125. Pedro says:

Geoff is out at the moment… so can’t respond to your comments!

To the AKB in the bin, your comments were deleted because you just made a load of stuff up. We weren’t around when Thierry was sold and we didn’t ever state we’d finish outside the top 4.

Read the rules of engagement, then come back.

  126. Bud says:

Guys Guys Guys…….. whilst we pride ourselves on not being AKB’s, lets not turn on the man….. fucks sake, he has done alright in terms of trophies and in the transfer market…… none of us will ever know how much the board have given or not given him to spend will we, so lets just be greatful he has done a good job for us, making us the 2nd most successful team in the country over the last decade.

Arsene Report, A- (could do better, but considering what he has come up against, worked well to always be at the top or there abouts).

Lets not forget, things could have been like Totteringham, but they are not, we laugh at those minnows down the road !!!!!!

  127. ethangunner says:

    pedro ..

im not sure id agree with the statement of the board members aren’t stupid ..
i seem to remember fizman telling us at Christmas we had over 70 million to spend in transfers..
then our next signing is ramsay ! …

or hill-man saying we dont need USA’S krankie money .. now we want him as a board member because he can help !!!!

sacking 2 major board members off the panel in as many years ..
    because of internal issues !
( i tell ya if i was a board member they would have sacked me too !!! )
our board is nothing short of a fucking disgrace !

locking down shares because they are afraid of getting taken over , power mongering megalomaniacs !
    fucking scrooge cunts !
we need a change in management !
wenger isnt the problem its the money men above him !!!
GMR youll get nothing out of those cunts …
they are masterminding maximum club profits , only to sell up when they can cash in at the highest price possible !

    mark my fuckin words !
cut back on staff & money outwards , maximize money inwards float it and sell it !

that wenger outburst is a cry for help !
he doesnt usually say shite that will piss the board off ..
but im sure his latest comment would raise some eyebrows at the next board meeting !
and good on the cunt !!!

  128. GMR says:

I see spurs have officially signed Bostock from palace for 700k rising to 1.25 million. They got out that tribunal very cheaply & have added another excellent prospect to their summer signings!! I think once all these new players bed down they’ll be a major threat in the second half of next season & then in all future seasons.

  129. Patrick7 says:

AFC53 – Don’t get too down mate. We haven’t spent much money over the past few years but we have competed especially as our squad gradually improves/comes of age. We’ve got loads of kids coming through so the future’s bright.

  130. Odub says:

Fab4, I’m sure you’ve blogged here before, and based on your point of view, I doubt you’ll be labelled an AKB!!

I doubt anyone would compare Mourinho’s chelsea career to AW’s as he had a bottomless pit of dosh!! I woula however say his 2 years at porto (2 league, cup, UEFA Cup, CL) cannot be sniffed at.

Anyway enough of discussing mangers who are cnuts!!

  131. Odub says:

No one’s turning on the man Bud!! We’re having a rather amicable discussion about the subject, so dont turn it into the WWE Royal Rumble OK??!!!!!

I’m glad we had this chat big man!

  132. GMR says:

Patrick7, all the other clubs have great youngsters coming through & maturing as well. That means if we stay as is, we won’t go anywhere!!

  133. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Ethan, I would like to think the Board is not so sinister, & that they are gearing the Club to ride out any economic anomaly.

Still, it doesn’t signify a lust for silverware, & that is what we all crave on here.

  134. Evo in OZ says:

    akb alert

  135. charybdis1966 says:

Gnarley, I know what you mean – when they gave out the Italian team sheet at the Euro’s I thought they were reading out a menu.

I wonder if Libel football have picked up on the Dkembe Dkembe story yet – I’d love it for those mugs/hacks to get a dose of their own BS.

But Dkembe Dkembe does fit the bill – quick, short, athletic – a mid field dynamo for his club side Sahara Vipers, and clearly a big talent(if only 4’10″) – he’ll reassure us fans, not only now but 3 weeks ago also.

  136. Odub says:

    Evo – where, where, where!!!

  137. ethangunner says:

    fab4

i respect what your saying ..
but remember since the russian mafia man took over at chevski , he changed the EPL
within 2 Seasons .. the 1st season every other top 4 club was shocked ,& when he did it again back to back , he struck fear in to the hearts of liverpool and Man U ! wenger couldn’t give a fuck his job is safe and ‘safety breeds complacency’ .

Man U got into debt but winning and global merchandising will get them out of the shite ! i have no doubt about it ! your fan base makes you income !!!!! FACT !!

liverpool is more fragile , but remember the only top 4 club not to be taken over with a cash injection is yours truly ! AFC

and during this time our trophy record has been less than admirable ! ZERO !

We clearly are not keeping pace with the rest of the top 4 …
we are walking to our own beat … a wenger beat that is crap and wont win anything for another season unless we get with the program and get several quality players on board !

    instead of loosing them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  138. Patrick7 says:

GMR – We seem to be getting most of the better ones. I’m not saying we don’t need to buy – I’m with you on that one and still waiting for the CB & DMF plus replacements for Flamini, Hleb & Ade should they all end up departing.

  139. charybdis1966 says:

Weren’t Maureen Yo’s successes at Porto part way due to the bribery of the club ?
Blood money or cheating – that’s the only way that shower of sh*** can win I suppose. Perfect man for the Chavs then.

  140. Patrick7 says:

    & Gilberto.

  141. Evo in OZ says:

can we confirm the lad from werder bremen isnt coming now?

  142. Fab4 says:

Odub – Mourinho’s Porto did win trophies without the unlimited cash of Chelsea; they relied more on a combination of diving and cheating on the pitch and match fixing off the pitch. Their champions league success occurred almost by default, after all the big teams imploded (Madrid’s 4-2 defeat to Monaco, Milan’s 4-0 humiliation against Deportivo).

GMR – Spurs have bought Modric, Bostock and Giovanni. These are very comparable signings to the players we have coming in – Ramsey, Vela, Nasri(?). What makes you think they will be a major threat, especially as their they have 2 wantaway strikers to our 1?

  143. GMR says:

I’d love to know why Arsenal told AC Milan to get stuffed when they wanted to sign Ade, now that time is getting on & Arsenal would have much less time to get a replacement in we are suddenly interested in selling?? They have weakened their own position regarding a price (I bet we end up selling him for somewhere between 15-18 million) & then we’ll be told they had no time to get a replacement & that Wenger never wanted Ade to go. Unfortunately for the board & Wenger, AC Milan have screwed that plan up by going public!!

  144. Pedro says:

Once again the Spuds appear to be concentrating their efforts on bolstering there already formidable attack.

Spurs will be a washout as always and they wont break into the top 4.

They do have some good players though… although I don’t rate Gomez like other people do.

  145. Odub says:

Record books still show they won it though, and as far as I’m aware they’ve been reintsated to this season’s CL despite all the alleged match fixing!

    Anyway who cares!! ;)

GMR – the spuds will only ever challenge for one honor, the fight to finish bottom of the London branch of the EPL!! COME ON FULHAM!!

Back to the Arse……. Nothing to report I’m afraid!!!

  146. Fab4 says:

Odub – Porto have only been reinstated this year because their punishment has been moved to next season instead.

  147. Pedro says:

Lampard wants £140k a week for 4 years at 30!

    Cheeky bastard!

Porto took the champions league and Uefa cup… you can argue the semantics all you like, but that is what the record books show…

I guess the only argument you could have is that Porto are the ManU of Portugal…

  148. dennisdamenace says:

Did i also mention that Dkembe Dkembe has Lewisham ancestry, so he can apply for UK citizenship………

  149. GMR says:

Fab4, you’re being a bit selective there. Spurs have signed Modric, Dos santos, Gomes, Bostock & two other young players who I can’t remember right now (1 is a goalkeeper from Italy).

Spurs haven’t lost any players so far & its only Berbatov that really wants to leave. The stuff about Keane can’t be classed as anything other than speculation, it may turn out to be true but we’ll have to see. Arsenal on the other hand have Ade & Hleb who both want to leave & we’ve already lost Flamini & Lehmann (nobody can deny that Flamini was a major part of our play last season). Nasri hasn’t signed & whilst 99.9% believe he will, I don’t. So our only confirmed players in are Ramsey & Vela. Ramsey is comparable to Bostock & maybe you can say the same for Dos Santos & Vela, but spurs have gained a top quality goalkeeper & proven playmaker, we haven’t.

  150. ethangunner says:

    Gnarley

you think we will still have hill-wood and co. in place in the next 5 years ?
this is all heading towards a take over !
holding on to profits to make the books look fatter before selling ..

thats where the money is going !!! no where!!
its in the clubs coffers !

Arsene is being used ! yes he is a good manager ! the reality is he should be sacked !
4 years winning nothing with a club profile like ours !

but they are not doing it ! because the board is responsible for scrooging on transfer funds for several seasons and on wages !

yes its a conspiracy theory .. but i think its a pretty accurate 1!

  151. Spike says:

    Hi guys,

With Arsène and all the Nasri story, I’m sure most of you can understand French by now.

Here a interview of the best right back in England (without the words being cut or sentences put together like in UK and Spanish Press) form L’Equipe. A quality sports newspaper who avoid sensationalist titles.

    Note that:
    He started pre-season early
He excpect Samir to arrive shortly
He see Hleb leaving but doesn’t know about Ade
He’s honest about footbalers and commitment to clubs over the long term (last 2 questions)

    Enjoy the read

    Foot – ANG – Arsenal – Sagna joue «collectif»

  152. Pedro says:

For those of you who don’t speak french:

Foot – ANG – Arsenal – Sagna plays “collective”

Voted best right side of the Premier League last season, Bakary Sagna did not put unnecessary pressure before starting its second year under the colours of Arsenal. The former Auxerre, distant land since March due to an ankle injury, has given us his desire to regain land quickly. We also shared his ambitions “before any collective.” Interview.

“Bakary Sagna, firstly, can you give us news about your ankle?

Okay. I resumed training last week, just before everyone, for me réhabituer to run at a steady pace. I have also been able to touch the ball. In principle, if everything goes well, I should be ready for the start of the Championship.

Last year, for your first season in England, you were voted best right side of the Premier League. Do you feel most anticipated now?

Not more than that. Many people tell me that this is the season confirmation, but last year, I already said that it would be a season of adaptation. In the end, I did not put pressure and I am given substance. So of course, I still was surprised that everything goes as well, especially since I scored my first goal! (Laughter). Anyway, the goal is always before being individually.

The presence of many French she contributed to this success?

Of course. Here, it was fortunate that nobody makes a distinction between French, English, and others. I know that in other clubs, this is not the case. There is sometimes a kind of boycott against foreigners. That is precisely what makes me say that I made the right choice by signing with Arsenal.

You were talking about collective goals. What are they this season?

Compared to our last season (3rd) where we had some regrets, we can legitimately expect better. Now, I do not think it is good to give a clear objective. We must especially remember the lessons of the past and take the matches one after the other. This is the best way to achieve a good season and I think this is the speech that we will keep the coach (Arsène Wenger). What’s the point of projecting already on the month of March if you are not sure to be still in contention for the title this time?

It may still think qu’Arsenal will be able to fight for the title and aims to be well in the Champions League?

Sure. When you’re a competitor, you want to win everything and that is how we advance. Concerning the Champions League, has lived on very good moments last year, especially against the AC Milan (quarter-finals). We really want to quickly find.

Alexander Hleb wants to leave the club. Emmanuel Adebayor is not safe to stay. How do you live this uncertainty around the actual?

It is part of football… It has also lost Mathieu Flamini who was an important player in the middle. It is a pity, but I am not worried at all. Samir (Nasri) should arrive soon and then there are also many young people who are knocking at the door. It may be a good opportunity to start in the big bath. Following is sure that if Emmanuel was going, it would be a great loss. But it is not there yet.

You recently extended contract until 2014. Was it important for you to sign up over time with the Gunners?

Not necessarily. In fact, it does not mean much. The evidence is that most players who are under contract. The important thing is to be especially powerful. The rest is fate. Everyone has one.

That does not even say when you’re going to leave Arsenal this summer?

No! I think especially to a good season. “

  153. Odub says:

I heard that DDM, but didnt realise it was true!! So he could end up playing for England if he doesnt going back to Burkina Faso!! So he’d fit in with Bladder’s 5+6 rule,. Touch!

  154. Pedro says:

Cheers Spike, that was a good read.

  155. charybdis1966 says:

DDM – Lewisham, eh ? Lovely jubbly ! Once he arrives back from 21 day holiday to the Algarve he’ll join up with the rest of the squad(all 6 of them) he’ll be ready to take on the EPL by storm, in season 2018/19 by which time he’ll have shown enough patience to deserve a trophy.

  156. Patrick7 says:

Ethan – You can’t fail with that one! PHW is past it now and others will definitely have moved on in 5 years time: that’s why Kroenke is being invited on to the board to take up the shares rather than Jabba taking them.

If we don’t buy soon though you may have something in the holding profits……………

  157. dennisdamenace says:

egunner – I’m totally with you on that, for me AW is just papering over the cracks for this money-hording board. No one else has the ability to keep the club in the position it is in with the financial contraints placed on the manager, and i make the point of being placed on the manager, this club makes money like no other at the moment and it’s being held onto. Now some might argue to pay off the stadium debt zzzzzzzz boring, some might argue to safeguard our club during these uncertains times ha ha ha, for me it’s to bolster the company books to obtain a higher price come the day off the sell out oh sorry i mean off………

  158. ethangunner says:

    GMR

    who do you believe ??

    http://www.eatsleepsport.com/arsenal/gunners-offer-milan-adebayor-755907.html

ok eat sleep is unreliable as fuck ! but its on sky sports and 1/2 a dozen others too ..

  159. ethangunner says:

it makes hill wood .. look like a fucking baboon also !

  160. dennisdamenace says:

charry66 – I don’t wanna piss on your chips, but by the time Dkembe Dkembe becomes a class player he’ll be off to Tooting & Mitcham for better wonga!

  161. Odub says:

This Dkembe Dkembe chap sure looks like he’ll be some player! Seeing as he’s only 14, there is every chance he’ll still grow taller than his current 4ft 10!

  162. aaron says:

i used to say give them a chance…we’re alright and so on…and so on.

but i have had enough now. we are being made to look like fools and i hate it. For the first time in my life i asked why i was brought up in north london. I am sick of the board, i am sick of all their stupid comments. i am sick of greedy players, i am sick of everyone!!! looks like we’ll be waiting a while for a trophy. I cannot believe i am talking about the club declining after we just chalked up 83 points. this is sad

  163. Pedro says:

So we needed 3 players at the start of the summer… now we are probably going to lose 3… does that mean we can expect 6 names?

  164. Bud says:

Whose this Dunkey Dunkey (thats a word that will make those of my age giggle) player O’dub’s on about ????

  165. charybdis1966 says:

Odub – maybe he has a similar thing to Martins, he claims to be 14 but is 22 and has done all his growing.

DDM – I thought Thornton Heath Dynamos were the dream club for his manor.

  166. Odub says:

Bud have a look at the post at 9.30 ;)

  167. ethangunner says:

So we needed 3 players at the start of the summer… now we are probably going to lose 3… does that mean we can expect 6 names?

    my point precisely pedro …
but then you just laugh it off and say NO FUCKING CHANCE SON !!

and if we do get 6 … bet your life most of them will still be in diapers…

We will come off short this season by a big margin !
liverpool are close to being a reasonable side – so is the spuds …
Not sure if taksin has money tucked away but chevski with their new manager
will be close too the top also ….

And lets face it … if you were to get any player bargains 4 weeks ago was the time to get them !

  168. ethangunner says:

    aaron Says:
    July 9, 2008 at 11:57 am

i used to say give them a chance…we’re alright and so on…and so on.

the reason you aint comfortable anymore is the fact we are a selling club ..
wenger doesnt believe in unhappy players and the board are tight asses with wages ..
its a recipe for desaster ..

also patrick7 .. we might have the best youngsters coming thru ! but we will never see the best of them ! unless we give them time on the pitch ! and when we do !1!…they will just fuck off for more money, before we get them peaking at AFC !

  169. AFC53 says:

I know its not all doom and gloom things could be worse we could follow the spuds ha ha.

But I want to feel some excitement like when we signed DB10 that was a massive signing at the time.

Liverpool have felt that when they signed Torres I want someone to come in who will make the teams sit up and take note.

Not another nobody who has potential.

Come on AW buy us a Villa from Spain!!!!

  170. Geoff says:

Chary, no I meant quiche! I shouldn’t do it really because people don’t get me, it stems from dell boy speak in only fools and horses and he’d say things like Beaujolais nouveau when he meant bonjour, so I started saying things like, that’ll learn him and Hyper boil instead of hyperbole, people knew what I meant, trouble is I’ve been doing it so long, people don’t realise I’m joking and think I just speak badly!

GMR thanks for that we’ll have a go.

  171. ethangunner says:

i am not beyond hoping that ade could of been successful at AFC , if he had risen to the heights of drogba next season i wouldn’t complain !
but like what i was saying before , we are a selling club and no great players will peak at AFC anymore .. Not whilst this wage restriction bollocks is in place and we let players go
as we cannot pay them what they want !

we dont need anyone to tell us this info !

    its fucking obvious !

  172. chris says:

    rlslog-chinb – 09 July 2008 12:02
anyone heard of this dude Dkembe Dkembe, aparently it was on french radio about him coming to Arsenal on a trial based on Laurens recommendation and that both brady and Grimandi have given him the boss

  173. ethangunner says:

geoff are you on acid :) ?

  174. ethangunner says:

Much-vaunted striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar will not sign a new deal at Ajax, according to his agent.

The forward’s goalscoring exploits for the Amsterdam giants have caught the eye of a clutch of clubs and Huntelaar added fuel to the fire when stating he had a desire to join Manchester United.

  175. Bud says:

Bonet de Douche Geoff, Bonnet de Douche !

  176. ethangunner says:

    there you go evo …

like i said he wouldnt sign with AFC ..
not when you could sign for Man U …

he scored 33 last season ! why on gods green earth did people say he was crap 4 weeks ago ???

  177. Geoff says:

    it’s gone 12 hasn’t it ethan?

  178. Pierre says:

Huntlaar would be perfet for us, RVP’s mate too, but of course it will not happen, if he moves he will go to the manc scummers.

  179. dennisdamenace says:

Charry66 – It may well be his dream club, but Tooting & Mitcham have the financial clout, so it’s the sad sad story of dream club versus hefty bank balance, money talks baby!

  180. Pierre says:

I’d still be happy with Santa coming in for Ade, much better him than old man Martins!!!

  181. Odub says:

    mais oui mais oui Geoff!!

  182. ethangunner says:

    Bonnet de Douche !

    shower cap ???

  183. ethangunner says:

    Geoff Says:

    it’s gone 12 hasn’t it ethan?

    yes 6 and a 1/2 hours ago :)

  184. GMR says:

ethan, he wants to play for Man Utd but they haven’t bid, I don’t want him at Arsenal especially as he’s desperate to emulate RVN. If we sign players can we please sign ones that want to join us not other teams.

Arsenal should genuinely be able to drop their wage bill by 15-20 million pounds per year which nearly covers the stadium repayment. Its about time we lost some of these kids that’ll never make it & paid players what they’re worth. Liverpool have a far bigger first team squad as do Spurs but both have much smaller wage bills.

  185. Odub says:

Fuck me!! Mani Dkembe Dkembe is the new must sign player of 2008!!! lol!!!!

  186. ethangunner says:

like i said there you go …

Gunners fail with bid for PSG ace
    11:19, July 9, 2008

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has failed with a bid to land Paris St Germain starlet Clement Chantome.

    Clement WHO ???

    another french youngster ..

blah blah blah .. mr predictable strikes again !!!
what was i saying Evo ???

  187. ethangunner says:

    gmr

If we sign players can we please sign ones that want to join us not other teams.

    i agree!!!!!
thats why villa was so special !
no point in getting cold feet ! and fucking off after 1 season ..for more $$$
but evo said yesterday it depends if we sell ade then Huntelaar joins us !

my argument is wenger will sign a no body like Clement Chantome for instance ..
so why wait 6 weeks to do it !!! ?????

get them in to start pre season ASAP !

  188. Pierre says:

We should swap Hleb for Xabi Alonso!

  189. Pierre says:

has that comment stunned everyone into silence?

  190. A says:

Clubs very very rarely come out and deny stupid rumours that anyone with half a brain would realise aren’t true (like the Hleb in the sun stuff yesterday), because it gives the press power. Every single day the tabloids come out with things that aren’t true, if the clubs officially came out and said every single day that the bollocks spouted wasn’t true, as long as being a massive waste of time, it would give the press the power to mould and develop the general agenda even more than it currently does. It would mean that the press completely dictates the agenda, and it already has more power than it should. Arsenal and Arsene have very rarely come out to deny crap in the tabloids, Arsene didn’t come out to say we weren’t after a centre back, he was asked whilst working and replied. Hleb has stayed out of the press the entire time, not making a single official statement whilst all the transfer talk has been going, only an idiot would think he’d break that silence to make a statement as ridiculous as those reported and give the sun of all people exclusive comments!

ethan i’m very unsure about huntelaar, he’s scored alot of goals, but I don’t know whether he’d be able to participate that well in arsenal football. Goals in the dutch league don’t mean a great deal – kezman had a similar scoring record. If we did want him I don’t know why he’d choose Utd over us, Ramsey saw that the future at the Emirates is brighter, and Van Persie could develop a good understanding with him and help him settle, as well as get him into the dutch team!

  191. Geoff says:

He can’t really sign Alonso as Hleb won’t play for another English club and fuck me if he doesn’t like London, he’ll hate West Virginia, I mean Liverpool!

  192. Geoff says:

A on that basis you would never buy a newspaper, watch the news on TV or read blogs like this???

  193. Pierre says:

yes, just my mind wandering ant the thought od Fab/Alonso in midfield seemed like a good pairing, better than Gerrard / Barry any day. Still think the swap I’d like to see is Hleb/Ya Ya, that could have milage in it. Remember that Noel Edmunds Swap Shop, Noel, we’ve got an un-creative, un-productive midfielder, loves passing backwards and running in circles, willing to swap for a 6’6″ centreback carved out of granite!

  194. A says:

Of course you would, but you’d use some logic to analyse the likelihood of whether there’s any truth in the stories. Blogs like this should be pro-arsenal, seeing as there isn’t a pro-arsenal tabloid to give an alternative view to the incredibly anti-arsenal drivel spouted by all the tabloids and sky sports etc day in day out, rather than reinforcing the attack on the club

  195. Geoff says:

    We are pro Arsenal

  196. Pedro says:

A there are plenty of blogs you can visit in the blog roll that are blinkered pro arsenal…

We had the original Hleb interview and it was linked into yesterdays blog.

If you don’t like reading bad stuff about the club… go to Arsenal.com or stop clicking links on newsnow… the internet is a choice, no one made you come here.

  197. A says:

im aware of that, but when the tabloids and such like print very anti-arsenal stories, due to a very pre-meditated agenda, and it then gets reported as fact on blogs like this, it’s reinforcing the validity of the story, and therefore being anti-arsenal by association

  198. Patrick7 says:

You’re talking about excitement – we’ve got Cesc, Sagna, Clichey and the best football in the EPL! Maybe you mean creative/strikers: well, we’ve RVP when fit and Eduardo + Walcott & Vela! If we replace Flamini,& Hleb, Ade, Gilberto if they go we’ve surely not only got excitement but a real crack at the silverware.

  199. Pedro says:

‘as long as being a massive waste of time.’

    Press Release on site:

There is no truth in the Adebayor rumours. He is contracted to the club and will remain so.

Wow, 10 seconds of typing and a click of a button.

All the other major clubs do it…

  200. Geoff says:

Any A why do you bother with any blog? you may as well just wait until the first game and see what Arsene gives you, that is if you go, like we do.

That will really make you pro Arsenal, provided you get a few shirts etc.

  201. Geoff says:

Hey Gnarley, notice he doesn’t give a shit about Flamini and Hleb!

  202. dennisdamenace says:

A – Who do you think we all are??? I can’t speak for everyone, but i’m a season ticket holder of 17 years standing, and before that a further 20 or so years of buying match day tickets for the North Bank, so i’m very much pro-Arsenal, i’m just not pro-bullshitters, or pro-johnnycomelateleys telling me Arsene Fucking Knows when lately all he knows is how not to win trophies………..

  203. A says:

pedro you didnt report the original hleb interview when yesterday’s article came out, it was written on the crap in the sun, as the full interview of sorts shows that the cesc stuff was complete bollocks, and the wenger stuff very misleading.

I know i made a decision to come here, i just wonder why a supposed pro arsenal site would report tabloid stories designed to attack arsenal as fact, when they’re quite obviously not going to be true. Do you guys actually get tricked by them and believe them, or is there some sort of agenda of your own involved, or do you just like the discussions? It just confuses me

  204. That’s why there are comments sections “A”. I am as anti-”the press” as anyone but have no problem with sites like Le Grove reporting what’s been said.

    A) It saves me buying a paper and swelling ManU loving Murdock’s coffers even more
    and
    B) I get to discuss why i think the press is wrong with the other folks on the site.

We don’t always all agree, but without the work Pedro and Geoff do reporting the news, we wouldn’t get to debate things and so never hear the other perspective.

  205. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Yes Geoff, Bacary Knows :) & he has a fair bit of respect from the fans.

  206. GMR says:

A, I completely disagree with you. Arsenal should respond to stories when there are direct quotes attributed to our manager that were printed on sunday. If they aren’t true then the club should be suing the NOTW.

Nobody has asked the club to respond to every single article printed & as you say some of it must be looked at with common sense. There are times though when the club should speak & the fact that Arsenal fans have to spend every single summer without hearing a positive word from the club should be rectified.

Not one of the other major european teams would allow such negative press to continue day in & day out because they know it hurts their image. Ultimately it affects future sponsorship deals, tv deals, merchandise etc!!

  207. Geoff says:

Well said QOS we agree on that, thanks for your support!

  208. Trinidad_Gunner says:

Arshavin’s agent Dennis Lachter says his client would prefer to move to England but insisted it would only be for a club in the Champions League.

‘Andrei would like to play in the Premier League but he will not accept an offer from clubs like Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa,’ he told the Daily Telegraph.

‘There are only four British clubs he would play for and they are in the Champions League.

‘It’s not about money, it’s about a team and professional ambition. Zenit is negotiating with several clubs.

‘We are now waiting for a phone call from Zenit president Alexander Dyukov to allow us to negotiate his personal terms with one of them. It’s most likely he will be heading for England.’

  209. Patrick7 says:

The tabloids/media are anti-Arsenal because they’re jealous of what we’ve got and they want to bring us down. We, judging by most comments I read, don’t appreciate what we’ve got and the sheer magic of Arsenal when they’re at their best BUT I do acknowledge we need to win something AND we need a better defence to realise that!

  210. Pedro says:

A, you can be so dull sometimes, you’ll argue anything.

    Don’t come here if you don’t like it… it’s that simple…

An agenda… how clever of you…

500 comments a day for the last 2 days would indicate you are in the minority… click the first link on our blog roll… it’ll suit you better.

  211. Bud says:

    Bored !

  212. Bud says:

    With Arsenal bickering that is.

What happened to those Hazy Days of taking the piss out of the twats down the other end of the Seven Sisters road instead of this quarelling ?

  213. GMR says:

Patrick7, you’re sounding like a spurs fan (& I don’t mean that in a f*** off & support spurs way). Their fans have argued for years (due to the lack of trophies) about how they play football the right way & we were a hoof it team, oh how we laughed at them. Now though its exactly what some of our supporters are doing, going on about our wonderful but unsuccessful football!!

  214. Bud says:

Feck me, its gone quiet again. Have I missed an Anchoreman style News Team battle and everyone has killed each other……… I’m back in that deserted place I was yesterday again….. Hellooooooooo, anyone alive ???!!!!

  215. Bud says:

Ahhhhhhhhh GMR, like yesterday, you survived again !!!!!!!

  216. chris says:

every ones is gone on lunch, which is amazing considering the time zones people are bloggin from

  217. Odub says:

I,m here! just couldnt be assed with an argument with A! Benn there done that..

  218. kenyan gooner says:

gooners its exclusive on goal.com hleb is off to barca

  219. Pedro says:

I am back… this is an A argument:

    Grover: Almunia is great
A: No he is not, he is the worst keeper ever.
    Grover: Ok, he is rubbish.
A: How the hell can you say that? He is great…

It gets too boring for words… The quietness is why we knock off wanky comments!

So no news… I thought it would be a busy week!

Who believes the letter? Do clubs do that?

  220. Odub says:

KG give us a link then..although I dont trust those yahoos at goal.com!!

lol re Pedro comment @ 1.44!!

  221. dennisdamenace says:

A Bored Bud, is worth two in the Bush……………!

  222. dennisdamenace says:

    What am i talking about???

  223. dennisdamenace says:

Talking of those Bagel eating retards from up the road, i had one mouthing off at me about being the only London club to win a trophy last season, and then tried to tell me that his shoddy mob has won more silverware than us, deluded prick!

  224. dennisdamenace says:

Going for three in a row………….

  225. dennisdamenace says:

    Woooohoooo………….

  226. Odub says:

Cheers Pedro! They seem fairly confident that it’s a done deal dont they? But then again they also though Ade was going to Milan!!!

  227. chris says:

    but for how much?

  228. Bud says:

    Dennis is showing off !

  229. Odub says:

DDM you’ve gone down in my estimation!

Why would you talk to a spud? I mean where/when/how did you learn to speak neanderthal?!!

  230. dennisdamenace says:

Feck me, four in a row………..

  231. charybdis1966 says:

Well petit pois DDM, petit pois.

It is a sad day when the mighty Thornton Heath aren’t the dream club of choice for short arse teenage twenty something strikers/mids/gk’s.

But maybe Dkembe Dkembe will look back on this opportunity and think of it less as saying goodbye, but bon jour.

  232. Do I believe the letter?

Yeah, i think we must have said something along those lines to Milan or even the hobbled old scribe in the Arsenal PR department would have jumped on that and said, we didn’t send any such letter.

Hell if Hleb can look up from his bowl of Raspberry Ripple to issue a retraction then surely even Dougie McDo’nowt could get off his arse and deny something that wasn’t true.

  233. dennisdamenace says:

Odub, i’m sooooooooo sorry fella, but in my defence you can’t choose who you work with…………i feel unclean, i’m gonna have to have a rubdown with the Sporting Life!!

  234. Odub says:

Mani Dkembe Dkembe = Legend ;)

DDM I know! I’ve got one sat 20 yards from me, and you have never EVER come across a more anal person!! I mean is it a requirement to be a spud fan?

  235. wildpop says:

If Bruce Rioch was still in charge, right now we would be in for Ronaldinho.

  236. Arsenal Tom says:

    pedro…

a letter seems a little long winded doesnt it… seeing as wenger apparentely faxed them last time sending a letter is gonna take a few days to get there and be dealt with… sounds like bollocks to me just milan tryna unsettle ade a bit more.

next year really isnt looking too good in my opinion

  237. Odub says:

So long Ice cream man!! 10 goals in 130 games costing 11.3 mill!! I’m thinking not a lot will be shedding tears!!

  238. dennisdamenace says:

Odub – I work for a Settlements Bank in Brussels which has probably 2 or 3 hundred UK consultants out here, and there me and one other Gooner as opposed to twenty odd Mongs from N17……………fucking hairy knuckled, web handed fuckwits!

I still feel as though i’ve let you down tho!!

  239. Arsenal Tom says:

DDM youll feel my pain then with this…

had our tottenham supporting studio junior telling me gareth bale was a better left back then clicy the other day!! he even said that you could see from the games that bale played that he was better than clichy and if he’d have stayed fit he’d have been in the Prem team of the year in front of him…

he was told to fuck off

  240. choy says:

how much is he going for?

  241. Pierre says:

“Skysports.com understands Barcelona are expected to announce the signing of Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb in the coming days.” We all read a story like that about Nasri 6 weeks ago and we’re still waiting….

  242. Arsenal Tom says:

PLEASE PLEASE say yaya is somewhere in this deal

  243. Odub says:

Bloody hell! I’ve had to work with the odd 1 or 2 in my time, but I’ve never been in a situation where they out numbered the amount of gooners!! What a nightmare!

  244. Matt says:

Goal.com is one of the worst websites, so dont believe anything they write.

They are up there with Tribal and caught offside…

  245. kenyan gooner says:

hleb is a cunt.i think we should replace him with a divid silva or an arshavin.

  246. Pedro says:

I like to think of Goal.com as tribalfootball with bells and whistles…

As long as you can take their stories with handful of salt, I don’t mind it!

  247. abent arsenal says:

    good afternoon evryone

same old day today haa Hleb/Ade/Nasri……………

  248. kenyan gooner says:

i read today that barca are back in hunt for david silva how come trhat they are said to have signed hleb?????i think if they sighn hleb they will not sighn silva or arshavin.they will only pick one of the three.

  249. Odub says:

    I love Sky Sports!!

They always come out with the same ol same ol…

    ”Sky sports understands that”

Which basically means they’ve got a kid in the back office thrawling the net for news, and the second he gets anything they release a statement staring with…..you guessed it!!!

    What crap!!

  250. choy says:

    nothing new on arse.com… hmmm..

  251. abent arsenal says:

If see it very carefully there are many top players on the market this summer. No matter what happens we will end up with a better players that Hleb/Ade or flamini. The big question will be if if AW will bay top player .
This all are in the market as we all know
    Arshavin 15 mil
    Barry 15 mil
    Santa Cruz 12 mil
    Kompay 10 mil
    Zapata 10 mil
    Huntelar 19 mil
David Villa 19 mil (my choice)
    etc

  252. Bud says:

Dennisdamenace – I own a Recruitment Agency and run a Large Investment & corporate Banking and Treasury Desk. Give me your company name (prob starts with an F!)and I will see if I can export some more Gooners for you !!!!!!

  253. abent arsenal says:

It only a matter of will from the board which are eating all the money

  254. abent arsenal says:

It’s better to finish all this unsettling rumours and go on to preseason games as much as possible

  255. tbuzz says:

Couldnt agree more abent arsenal… :)

  256. dennisdamenace says:

Bud – I work in Brussels for Euroclear and in London for Crest……….

  257. GMR says:

If Hleb has travelled to Barca for a medical then how can it be a few days until its announced?? Sky really do chat s***. Barca announced they had signed Henry before he’d even had a medical so why wouldn’t they do the same with hleb??

Assuming he is off to them though, it would make the possible arrival of Nasri even less exciting. Its just exchanging one player for a younger unproven player & for every player we sell we need to sign two more to strengthen the squad.

  258. abent arsenal says:

I hope we will sing Nasri by the end of the week. And sale Ade by the next week and get that fat cheque that always Arsen dreamed of brining on Villa or Santa by the start of the Emirate cup. So we can clear our supporting mind and get on with season .Assuming Hleb will go this week

  259. Pierre says:

Thinking about it, we’d not be in bad shape if Flamini hadn’t shafted us, he really has turned out to be a prize cnut!

  260. GMR says:

Well going by marca we are selling Hleb for 15 million euro’s, so 12 million gbp. Thats pretty crap really, it will rise to 18 million euro’s based on numerous things that’ll probably never happen.

Graham Hunter on sky reckons Rafa is on the verge of a deal with Valencia for either Villa or Silva. He thinks its likely to be Villa as he has previously spoken about getting him out of spain, but won’t rule out silva!!

  261. tbuzz says:

    Tumble weed time…………….Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Come On Arsenal!! Give Us A Sign(ing)!!

  262. abent arsenal says:

Absolutely right Pedro Flamini’s lost will cost us either the title for the next season or 10 mil for this summer

  263. El Tel says:

Its so Secret Service at Arsenal that even MUTV oops Sky news are getting things wrong.

  264. El Tel says:

Don Howe on MUTV, its good to see the old boy still looking good. Wish he was still involved he is the best coach Arsenal and England ever had.

  265. abent arsenal says:

I think BBC understands is a much more reliable that SKY SPORT understands so I will wait for the BBC one

  266. gunnerfever says:

HLEB TO BARCA —- no yaya in this deal…….straight cash just how arsene and the gang want it to be.

Barcelona is about to gain the services of midfielder Alexander Hleb, from Arsensal of England, which will pay about 15 million euros, plus a variable 3 million, and a four-year contract, has confirmed to EFE a source of the Catalan club. Alexander Hleb finally accept the option of Barcelona, after he was about to move for Bayern Munich, an entity that was negotiating the transfer of 18 million euros without variables. Hleb is a skillful midfielder who enlisted in the ranks of Arsenal in 2005, after passing through the Stuttgart the previous five seasons. Born in Minsk (Belarus), is 27 years old, and is a footballer of vocation offensive. His hiring by the Barcelona is at the expense of signing the contract and close some small agreements that should be agreed this afternoon to officially announce that the club incorporating the fifth morning, after Martin Caceres, Gerard Pique, Dani Alves and Seydou Keita.

  267. Bud says:

Dennis – Are you looking for more (Gooner) staff at the moment???!!!!!!!

If so, I can give my details to Pedro and he can mail them through to you without having to give your details away to the AKN brigade !!!!!!

  268. GMR says:

According to another arsenal blog Ken Friar is in Greece to negotiate the sale of Gilberto.

So those pictures on Arsenal.com yesterday look like being our entire squad at this rate!!

  269. dennisdamenace says:

    Disco Stu Don’t Advertise……….

  270. choy says:

thank fuck he is finally off.. now the other one can go too…

the catch is whether we bring in reinforcements.. otherwise we are fucked!!!

  271. dennisdamenace says:

Bud – Yeh ok, i’m just an IT Consultant within the organisation, but my old boss is now head of Resource Management for the whole of Testing. And, even though they are watching the pennies i have heard they are still after people………..

  272. Odub says:

have been in a meeting, what have I missed?

Did Dkembe Dkembe turned up for training today?

And why are you referring to the legend that is Disco Stu DDM?

  273. abent arsenal says:

One out pne to go Ade is next

  274. dennisdamenace says:

Relax guys, whether or not we lose two, three or even four first team regulars the imminent arrival of Dkembe Dkembe with sooth our furrowed brows, c’mon you little 4’10″ Munta………..

  275. Bud says:

Splendid. Will get Pedro to pass on details…..

And as a Brucie Bonus (if we have enough players to put out) should we get some joy and will sort you out with 2 of my Club Level Corp Tickets for a game of choice……. and the best bit, you will be sitting just 6 seats away from the otherwise elusive Geoff & Pedro……….. hell you can even join our pre-match drinking frat at S&B !!!!!!!!

  276. dennisdamenace says:

Hey Odub – I’m sorry fella i forgot about your earlier idea to build an Internet Page for our wonderkid. I’m not in the internet business old bean, i’m more in the big old munta machines that large organisations use, however i’ll ask a few of my nerdy chums!

  277. dennisdamenace says:

Odub – I was thinking that maybe it’s Disco Stu that’s running the Arsenal PR machine!!

  278. Pedro says:

Bud… are you selling on Le Grove? haha!

  279. gunnerfever says:

hleb gone for 12 mill pounds and ade will be too for 30 mill……..that makes us 42 mill richer than we were………now people make what you can of it coz the way i see it ……wenger’s got enough pressure on him to line up equal or much talented replacements.

  280. dennisdamenace says:

Bud – I’m overawed, and to be honest a little moist too……..

  281. Odub says:

Bud’s always selling!! You should know that by now Pedro!!

And I hope you DDM’s not depriving me of my first dibs on tickets or me and him will be having a falling out big time!!!

  282. gunnerfever says:

steve sidwell has completed a medical with avfc and the deal will be announced within the coming 24 hours.

  283. Bud says:

Damn right I am selling Pedro !

In fact I think you should let me post an Arsenal Supporters job board on Le-Grove…

In fact why stop ther, lets start a Mason like affiliation and start scratching backs here !!!!!!!

Which reminds me, I still need a Grove banner for my website

  284. Bud says:

Don’t worry O’dub, I still have th eother tickets downstairs !

  285. charybdis1966 says:

DDM – I’m almost creaming myself off at the thought of our wunderkind pulling on the famous red and white (of Tooting).

  286. charybdis1966 says:

..but seriously Dkembe Dkembe will clearly more than make up for the loss of Flamini, Adebayor, Hleb, Gilberto etc…..

    Arsene knows.

  287. dennisdamenace says:

Hey Odub, you can always sit on my knee fella!!

  288. Pedro says:

DDM, are you getting sexually aroused on Le Grove?

What is this place coming to?

Bud, I like the free mason idea… we’d need a secret hand shake…

  289. dennisdamenace says:

charry66 – I’ll think you’ll find that this fella is multi-functional too, in fact to save wages AW will be playing him in more than one position at the same time during matches!

  290. rico01 says:

    Hello Again

Right – Hleb is off to Barca
Gilberto is also off, to Panathonikos ( or similar)

Be serious for one minute – Gilberto WAS a great player for us, soft hearts and sentiment WONT win us anything. At least he is being sold, and I DO believe we will buy.

Hleb – well as long as we get at least as much as we paid for him then, then again, at least he is not walking on a freebie……
He has frustrated us for three seasons, yes last season was better, but he still missed so many opportunties to either score or find the killer pass. How many times did he get ahead of play, only to stop, and pass back – Remember the old ‘Pass me back Batty for England’ So annoying!!

Reading between the lines – as you have to when trying to work out what AFC are up to -I reckon, when AW made his statement about signings within three weeks, he didnt know that Hleb, Ade and Gilberto wanted out – since then he has found this out and has to re think. I reckon he was going to use Gilberto alongside Cesc, that option has now probably gone, Hleb, well now he needs replacing….

So, IMHO, once the sales are confirmed, we WILL buy, but we wont spend mega mega bucks on any incoming player – again it will be a player of unknown talent. But. I also think they will be of Sagna status rather than Eboue……………!! ;)

You know what – I am no longer worried about it,

I have as a matter of urgency, go to the doctors surgery this morning for blood tests, due to the nature of my illness, I had my results back within the hour….

The results were devastating, I was deficient in an extremely rare mineral, its common name is :- AKB, so i had an injection straight away. It lasts for 6-8 weeks,

So Guys – Be Aware……….. I am due to write some good old positive AKB Bollox for a few weeks!!! ;)

  291. Odub says:

Tempting DDM, but I’ll take my chances with the cheap seats!!!

I am however shocked at the way I have been left to make do with the riff raff seat downstairs shocking!! I thought I was part of the elite S&B brigade but obviously not!

  292. choy says:

    lord!!!

  293. tbuzz says:

Dkembe Dkembe is a CB who can play CM ,GK and a half decent striker….am I correct? Does he have a junior brother too? We can sign him as back up right?

  294. choy says:

well rico i love the optimism….

    we shall see….

  295. dennisdamenace says:

Oi Riff Raff…………….that’s where i sit!!!!

  296. dennisdamenace says:

Appenrently he has a younger brother, who by all accounts is a much superior player, but AW decided to keep the weaker player, deja vu anyone!!

  297. Odub says:

DDM any seats at the grove is a good seat!! I tend to end up with the baying mob in the corner via my crappy red membership anyway! :)

Speaking of which, my other main ticket provider Scuba hasnt been on in ages!!! Where is he?

  298. Bud says:

Forget the cost of players. Wenger is doing his bit to get the wage bill down and will then replace with good players !

He has said time and time again that £70 mill is for wages as well !!!!!!

With Ade, Flamini, Hleb and poss Gilberto, that is about £10,000,000 (circa £200,000 a week) of wages he has to shell out to new players….

  299. dennisdamenace says:

Pedro, honestly, what do you take me for?? I was referring to getting moist in a tearful way…………..shame on you!

  300. Bud says:

And that wern’t a AKB statement, it’s just common sense, well I think it is anyway !

  301. Pedro says:

    So sorry DDM… haha!

  302. Odub says:

Some of the comments on here today have been just top draw!!

  303. Bud says:

Odub, you can have Club Level if you want, but unless you bring business to the table hombre, it costs, and at £110/£120 a game or whatever it works out at, thought you’d be happier watching cattle class ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told you, get shot of your junior (totts fan if I remember right !) and let me replace and its free !!!!!!!

  304. Pedro says:

Cattle class… you are such a snob bud! haha!

  305. charybdis1966 says:

Dkembe dkembe – saviour of the universe !! Well of N5 anyway.

Why not play him in omre trhan one position – we beat the Poo with 9 men 2-1 so why not ?

  306. Odub says:

Bud I’ll take you up on a couple of tickets this season if you dont mind, wouldnt mind treating the other half to the club level experience just once.
Seeing as I only took her to 1 of the 10 odd matches i saw last season, I’m still in the dog house!!

You’re right Pedro he is a snob!

  307. Pierre says:

its funny, half a sniff of hleb being on his way and suddenly the mood on here goes through the roof and everybodys happy, just shows hoew desperate we all were! 1 redeming feature of Hleb is that he wanted to go now for a fee rather than buy out his contract or walk for free (a la Flamini scumbag) so when he does finally leave I for 1 won’t be flicking the V’s at the telly as his ice cream van tootles down the grove for the last time.

  308. Pedro says:

I agree the comments have been funny today… bar Zzzzz…. sorry I mean A, it’s been clear of idiots!

  309. tbuzz says:

Mandingo Dkembe Dkembe…the boy is so young you have to call his name twice. lol Probably still sucks his left thumb too! Dont be surprised if Spurs put a bid in for him…

Does anyone know when the so-called 10days will expire Re:Nazzzzri?

  310. Odub says:

I wonder how many scouts spuds have got looking for Mani Dkembe Dkembe as we speak!! :)

  311. Odub says:

ok that’s an x files moment tbuzz!! Very freaky deaky!!

  312. charybdis1966 says:

Odub, their already scouring the backstreets of Catford and Hither Green for this precocious prodigy.

  313. charybdis1966 says:

Odub, they’re already scouring the backstreets of Catford and Hither Green for this precocious prodigy.

  314. charybdis1966 says:

    Sorry, I stammered there.

  315. Odub says:

That’s alright Cahry, age catches up with us all at some point!! ;)

  316. Pedro says:

    Chary, got your avatar back!

Newsnow is struggling today… I might make up a story tomorrow… about our new player… Dkembe Dkembe!

  317. tbuzz says:

Truly scary Odub, truly scary. Iam begining to think lil’ Mandingo WILL eventually show up on the Young-Guns website!! lol That my friends will scare the bejeezus outta me!! ;)

  318. Odub says:

Pedro we’ve been trying to find a way to set up a wiki page for him, if you can manage that I’m sure our little maestro will be on newsnow by tomorrow morning, and on the spuds wanted list by the end of the week!!

  319. rico01 says:

The below is a perfect example of how the press twist things, Bac no doubt was asked his view on transfers and contracts -

Now look how Setanta report the interview – thats why we should believe Fuck All thats written, unless on AFC.Com – mind you, we wait for ages for that to happen ;(

Bacary Sagna claims signing a new deal is no guarantee that a player will remain at a club for the long haul.

The defender had a fantastic season with Arsenal and was rewarded with a deal which runs until 2014.

Sagna is content with life in North London, but says there is no guarantee he will see out his six-year deal with The Gunners.

When asked if his new deal is proof of a long-term commitment to Arsenal, he said: “Not necessarily. In fact, it doesn’t mean anything.

“The proof is that most of the players leave even when they are under contract. The important thing is most of all to perform well.

“The rest is destiny. Everyone has his.”

Sagna was then asked if those words mean he will move on before the new season starts, and he answered: “No! I am most of all thinking of having a good season.”

  320. charybdis1966 says:

YeahPedro – have to persist with the log out-log in thing at WordPress everyday.

After you plant that story on newsnow it’d be a hoot ot set up a press conference for Dkembe Dlembe’s unvieling so the hacks would be “punk’d” – it’s what murdocks muppets deserve. Especially SkySports – could they BE any further up Fungusscum’s arse ?

  321. tbuzz says:

    I can see it now….

Arsenal have confirmed that they have signed Mandingo Dkembe Dkembe, dubbed “the African prodigy from the West”, for an undisclosed fee(McDonald wages).
He is due to pass a medical in the next few hours sas he’s said to be as” fit as horse”.

The 14year old was said to be delighted with the signing saying, “It has been my dream to play for Mr Arsene, arsenal is a massive massive club with massive massive potentials and I will play in any position Mr Arsene wenger wants me to play as I am very versetile”, said the old looking 14year old Dkembe Dkembe from Bukina Faso.
His current coach at Faso Wonderers, Martin Jol said,” Iam gutted to have to sell him, but I wish him well and I hope he scores plenty goals agains Sp*Ds…those Bastard$!!”
    :)

  322. Odub says:

LMAO tbuzz!!! I’m in tears here mate!! :)

  323. charybdis1966 says:

Classic tbuzz ! Us Goons need cheering up when the real news on AFC is so dismal.

  324. tbuzz says:

Odub,I couldnt keep a straight face writing that too! I’ll soon be offered a job at the Sun/Mirror with that exclusive story!! lol

  325. rico01 says:

    You lot are soooooooooooooooooooo naughty!!

  326. tbuzz says:

  331. Odub says:

I think we’ve officialy lost it on here!! :)

  332. charybdis1966 says:

But the Faso warriors leg-end is from the same school of scouting as Didier Baptiste – who the Chavs actually tried to swipe from the noses of Harchester Rovers.

Anyone remember that, from the Ranieri days ?

  333. choy says:

the whole club’s lost it odub..!!!

  334. Odub says:

Look out on Newsnow, you might see Wenger shaking hands with lil’ DDkembe with an oversized red an’ white jersey!! lol

    Adios people!!

  336. charybdis1966 says:

Off too – look forward double D on Arsecom anon.

  337. raif says:

i bet we get a SHITE return for HELB and ADE if and when we sell them.

    Helb = £8 mill
    Ade = £15 mill

you wait and see were going to get shafted just like we did with the Henry deal that took him to barca and this shit amount ofcash we got for Veria. if we get anything more then what i have guessed then i will be very suprised indeed,

    Excellent Post,

  338. choy says:

lol raif… hleb is rumoured to be 12.5 mill and ade above 25 mill!!!

  339. raif says:

yeah and how much was Henry Rumoured to be leaving for lol

also having said that all our deals are UNDISCLOSED, so we wont find out any ways lol

  340. raif says:

    choy –

i forgot to add that part

  341. Geoff says:

I’m boarding a flight to Manchester and if it crashes I hope it crashes in that shithole Old Trafford!

I will feel I’ve done something useful then.

  342. raif says:

    Geoff – hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  343. finestcuts says:

Odub, stop giving the club secrets away!

  344. GMR says:

Geoff, you not going in your helicopter??

  345. Mandingo Aloisus Dkembe Dkembe says:

Hello my friends, i am looking forward so much to playing for you, has anyone got a spare room for me as i have no lodgings, and have you any daughters!

  346. Bud says:

No GMR, he swapped that ages ago for the player rights to a great young prospect from Lewisham……

  347. ethangunner says:

just flush the loo when you pass over it geoff !

  348. Trinidad_Gunner says:

“Wayne Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford has been fined £300,000 and banned from working as a football agent for 18 months by a disciplinary commission, the Football Association announced on Wedneday”

Hopefully its Ade and Hleb’s agents next :)

  349. ethangunner says:

    fuck …..
it frightens me how good i am !!!

Arsenal have agreed to transfer Gilberto Silva to Panathinaikos

Ken Friar is reported today in the Greek press as having said that he has, on behalf of Arsenal, come to an agreement on principle with Panathinaikos president Nikos Pateras.

All that remains now is for the player to agree personal terms for the deal to go through.

  350. SFO Gooner says:

if you are a 27 year old arsenal player (like hleb) it is best you look for the longest and highest paying contract around.

Otherwise you can end up like gilberto who is past 30 and is being flogged to panathanikos. I am sure gilberto would feel he should have signed with juventus/milan couple of years ago.

I think it is easy to blame hleb for not being honest as to why he is leaving. The fact of the matter is arsene favors youngsters and if you are past 30 you are treated badly(sold or one year deals like pires/bergkamp). Look at the chavs offering a four year deal to lampard who is 30. Arsene would never do that even though in this case gilberto has become less effective than before.

I think we should get used to players (like fabregas) leaving when they approach their last big payday which is around 26/27.

  351. Patrick7 says:

GMR – Couldn’t reply earlier: popped out to see the Tour finish; it was only 30Km away so had to be done!

I don’t think I was spouting like a Spuds fan. I appreciate the change for the better in Arsenal’s football and the positive comments from the media about our team especially when pundits are creaming themselves at our silky football. It makes a change from the Boring, boring Arsenal or Lucky Arsenal that I grew up with.

As I said the silverware has got to come with it! I can see the progress as many others have said and providing we get decent replacements for those we have lost/will lose I can see success just round the corner.

We just missed out on a CL win the previous season to last when we had a good shot at the PL gaining an extra 15 points for 83: that’s progress! Like many others if we continue to move forward, if not dominate this coming season, I shall be ecstatic as you will be.

I realise though that the loss of Flamster is a body blow! He may not have been as skilled as others that people have spoken about but he had heart and the drive to win which many others currently lack. After all we need to win in midfield to give the service to our strikers especially if we aim out Ade as a target man although Bendtner may suffice.

I agree totally with your alarm in the current transfer period which if not rectified soon will put us back 2 years as our rivals are strengthening as we ponder or that’s the way it looks………………………………………..

  352. Patrick7 says:

………………and we still need our defence sorted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  353. ethangunner says:

    i had hoped we’d keep him ! -bert…
i mean currently with our midfield exodus(( ill take him )or anyone ! ) !

    i cant believe it …
    diarra gone
hleb – gone to barca ! ( ok alex we will let you go where you want to go ! )
    flamoney ! gone ….
    and now bert …

i told pat this would happen ! ok not hleb but the rest !
worst case scenarios and it can only happen to AFC !

we have gone from over stocked in the midfield .. or maybe just well stocked ….
    too cupboards empty !!!

Anyone who thinks we will play the same style of football next season has been
in the English sun too long !
Someone said earlier the papers are just jealous of our style of play ..
more like they are rubbing it in that those days are numbered unless we get replacements ..and if we even do… how long will they take to settle in ????

It will be more ‘ass’ than ‘class’, if we manage to get anything from this season !!!!
another ground hog ‘piss it up the wall’ year !

maybe by the year 2017 when walcott hangs up his boots we might win something ?
i hope im not on a dialysis machine by that stage however !

  354. raif says:

    Patrick7 = AKB

  355. Patrick7 says:

SFO G – I see AW as acting for our needs and using the stats and science that have come into the game. When a player shows less mileage consistently on the pitch and isn’t carrying an injury, he watches him and looks for a good contract to satisfy his needs at that stage. Normally this happens from about 30 onwards. Surely that’s good management.

PV got a 5 year contract; Gilberto looks to have a 3 year one, TH had a good one also. Players know the score. Hleb got a bit of a kicking in the PL last year so is keen to get out. He would have got a pay rise and new contract if he’d stayed but the Spanish or Italian leagues looked a bit easier and still give him a pay rise and a change of scenery and weather, never mind the crap about noise!

  356. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

in the English sun too long ! WHAT ENGLISH SUN WILL THAT BE AND IM NOT BEING FUNNY.

  357. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

?????? ARE ARSENAL TO GOOD TO DROP OUT OF THE TOP 4 THIS SEASON???its in caps because it is a question

  358. Patrick7 says:

Raif – I’ve always said that his defence leaves a lot to be desired and players like Cygan, Senderos, Eboue………………….should have been dumped ages ago as accidents waiting to happen every time we defend an attack. I’m still unsure of Almunia but maybe when he has a defence that’s sound in front of him he’ll show more of his attributes.

I appreciate the positives and am not of the current generation of ‘I want it now or I’ll scream and scream’. As long as I see progress (and I think we have had that) I’m happy but NOW we should be winning something and if that doesn’t happen I shall be miffed! Funnily enough my 26 year old son seems to have even more patience.

  359. rico01 says:

Don Howe – cant help but love him

Come on Guys – Lets say Fuck them, if they want to leave one of the greatest clubs they will ever get the chance to play for then I really say to them

‘Thank you, Good Bye, and Break a Leg…. because that is what could happen.

As Don Howe said, they have been taught by the best staff at Arsenal, and wont get that anywhere else –

I never ever believed we could survive after

1st – Petit and Overmars – WE DID
2nd – Paddy, Edu and ‘Grimandi’… WE DID
    3rd – Bobby P and Freddie – WE DID
    4th – Thierry Henry – WE DID

Now anyone if you dare, tell me that either…. Hleb, Ade, Flamoney or Gilberto are at this moment in time EQUAL or BETTER than anyone I have listed….????

They are not, and we WILL survive, in fact, we will be better….;)

  360. Patrick7 says:

BBK – Definitely not. If AW doesn’t get his arse into gear we could drop several places. Some of the damage could happen with a poor start as a result of rebuilding the gaps that are opening up from player outages! Crucial fortnight has started.

  361. choy says:

    the eternal light shines bright!!!

rico.. but i don’t think we’ve won anything since row 2 left?!!!

  362. Patrick7 says:

    Spot on Rico!

  363. El Tel says:

Great humour today guys you are always there when skies are grey.

  364. Patrick7 says:

It’s blue sky all the way here in the centre of France and 26.5 degrees.

  365. Abdenor says:

BBK – No one is too good to drop out of the top 4, it could happen but can’t see it, people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon.

Lets see what the manager will do first as i think a lot of changes will be made still and yes players will come in…. mark my words.

  366. stevie says:

So Gilberto could be off after all, if thats so then surely we are gona see a bit more movement now in the transfers if he & Hleb are leaving…..

  367. dennisedamenace says:

Where’s our ‘secret’ new signing, we need him now more than ever the 4’10″ mungler!!

  368. dennisdamenace says:

Where’s our ’secret’ new signing, we need him now more than ever the 4′10″ mungler!!

  369. El Tel says:

Don Howe left winning teams at Arsenal for T.Neill then George Graham. He was coach for Bertie Mee when we had the double winning side. He was with Bobby Robson and even helped Venebles when England were good. He wasn’t a good Manager but he was a fantastic coach who is very loyal to Arsenal and helped put us where we are today. Good to see the old boy looking very well on MUTV (SSN) earlier.

Aw could do with someone like Howe at his side, and for sure the defence would be better.

  370. dennisdamenace says:

I don’t think AW wants anyone around him who has an opinion that would challenge his views on ‘pretty’ football……….hence no Monkey Head or TA at the club!

  371. El Tel says:

I don’t think we will drop from the top 4 and I believe we could improve but there will need to be a few players coming in as the experience has/will be gone.

  372. El Tel says:

    DDM

i agree and this I think is where it goes wrong. The whino up North always has a decent assistant but Arsen sticks with Paddy Rice who is a great bloke but looks like a manequin on the bench.

  373. dennisdamenace says:

I work with PR’s son, and openlt admits that his dad knows very little about who’s coming and who’s going!!

  374. dennisdamenace says:

    *** he openly admits

  375. choy says:

DDM… who the hell knows then!!!!

  376. dennisdamenace says:

    choy……………you ready for this………………Arsene knows……………..boom boom!!

  377. choy says:

lol.. i thought he said that the fans were going to get re assured….

    well news buddy…..

we’re going paranoid.. we’ve lost lehmann… flamini.. and two more may follow…

    is this reassurance?

  378. dennisdamenace says:

I tell you what fella, reassured my arse, i think i’m slowly going insane!!

  379. choy says:

make that three.. gilberto hleb and ade

  380. dennisdamenace says:

Following this club we all love is becoming seriously bad for your health!

  381. dennisdamenace says:

I know he’s been a bit flakey performance wise recently, but i’m gonna miss Bertie………

  382. patthegooner says:

    Could be 3 more Choy

    Lehmann
    Flamini
    Gilberto
    Hleb
    Adebayor

Not good at all, I am not confident at all in his ability to replace these guys and buy the ones that we already needed, in my mind if all 5 go, then we need at least 7 in.

If this was Barca, there would be a vote of no confidence, and before anyone else tells me to relax cause there is another 7 weeks left of the transfer window

No I wont fucking relax, it was the same story last summer and the one before that.

I want action now, no more fucking words of belief, Desire and REASSURANCE

  383. choy says:

    adebayorrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

    he is such a whore!!!

    http://img244.imageshack.us/my.php?image=adebayor2gu3.jpg

  384. dennisdamenace says:

It’s becoming harder and harder to have any faith or belief in the management of our club, they seem hell bent on having the cheapest squad in the EPL, these money making/saving drives and youth policies have gone too far now…….

  385. dennisdamenace says:

Ha ha ha choy, the sooner the fucking better mate.

However, i honestly believe that should we get £30m+ for our Togo Toerag, none of it will be reinvested in the first team……….

  386. choy says:

how the hell is gareth barry being sold for 18 mill and pleb for 12 mill?

  387. raif says:

Patrick7 – fear shout mate. its really odd being a arsenal these days. we dont know weather were comming or going, great football to watch but nothing at the end of it. our time must come but we have been saying that for many seasons on the trot now.

im optimistic as always i just hope the potless seasons comes to an end very soon other wise the fans will turn on the club.

  388. dennisdamenace says:

Coz we have numptys running our club.

  389. dennisdamenace says:

Actually thinking about it, it’s probably much like TH14′s deal from last year, so it’s either £12m up front now or £16m in instalments, and we know how much PHW & Co love a bank balance……..

  390. choy says:

according to the press cnuts… it is 12.5 upfront… 2.5 depending on them winning the league in the next two years!!!

where do these guys get all this from?

  391. El Tel says:

    Guys

I am not a newbie as some sites are calling the people for getting the arse about Wenger. I have been an Arsenal fan since the late 60′s.

I am just fed up with the lies and spin we are getting, if our Manager told us we would be doing business but wasn’t sure of the timescale we could probably be rest assured but HE gave us the deadlines HE said we would have 3 new players that our fans would be happy about. HE said he had money.

If he was true and honest then maybe his players wouldn’t fuck off and maybe the true fans wouldn’t put up with the nonsense he puts us through.

I am fortunate that I don’t have to pay to watch the Team i love so much but this bollocks with playing reserve players in matches he deems of less importance is just ripping off the guys who pay to see their hero’s.

My nephew gets to see probably 4 games at home per year my Brother pays about 120 quid each visit and to matches where he has rested the big players that my nephew wanted to see live.

I am getting fucking angry and i dont have to pay. I will stick up for everything Arsenal to any person but us Gooners.

We are Arsenal Football Club and Wenger works for us and if we don’t like what is happening then we should be allowed to let him know.

  392. GMR says:

Patrick7, I didn’t mean you’re starting to ‘sound like a spurs fan’ the way it come across on here, so I apologise for that. I won’t bother trying to explain how I meant it because it’ll probably take me a 1000 lines to get the explanation right!!

Anyway I agree with you there was progress last season, but I think most of that was due to Henry leaving. This summer its about players hitting their peak leaving, & thats a far different scenario. Wenger seems far to willing to let people leave without having replacements signed & whilst I always here the same thing, “Wenger will have a plan & will sign the players we need”, history doesn’t really back that up. He sells players & then hopes to conclude deals which far too often don’t happen & us, the fans, are the ones that suffer.

If Gilberto, Hleb, Flamini, Adebayor & Lehmann do all end up being departures this summer then we need a minimum of 8 arrivals (7 now as Vela is one but I won’t include Ramsey because he is 17 & not a first team player). That just isn’t going to happen, so for all Wenger’s spouting at the end of last season a large portion of us aren’t going to be reassured like he promised. You cannot argue that we failed last season due to a lack of quality & experience when we suffered injuries & our squad will be weaker not stronger!!

  393. El Tel says:

I was under the impression Barca still owe us dough for TH14, if they can’t pay lets send the bailiffs there and reposses their valuables.

  394. choy says:

    nice rant el tel…

it was absolutely humiliating in the cup defeats.. its not like we won the other two(PL and CL) either…. which was the reason wenger gave.. he was not after the two cups..

felt really sad for the fans that had to make the trip to shite hart lane and old cnut ford….

  395. Abdenor says:

    7 players??!!!!!! GMR

If that’s the case then we need to sack a few more…..

  396. Abdenor says:

If we avoid the sort of injuries we suffered last season then we won’t need many people to come in, a CB and a defensive midfielder + replacements for Hleb ans Ade if they call it quits……… and we’re set!

  397. El Tel says:

    Pat /GMR

I think you both make good points.

We do have great youngsters coming through and they can step up but they won’t win us anything this year or next. Wenger will never sign 7 players and if he did only 2 will be first team material.

Looks like another year with Eboue keeping out Theo etc.

    This isn’t good enough.

  398. dennisdamenace says:

My brother and my mates made that trip to OT for the FA Cup, fucking shocking, AW’s now relegated the FA Cup to the same standing as the CC…………….

  399. El Tel says:

    Thanks Choy

It wasn’t just the away games you described though mate. Pool at home in the league was poor and the Spuds in CC at our place. Villa, Boro at home also.

You are right and the point I was trying to make is that we didn’t put our best teams out in CC and FAC matches.

This strategy is flawed and doesn’t work. He must rethink this season coming as another FAC would let him off the hook for another year. Personally couldn’t give a shit about the CC

  400. El Tel says:

    DDM

You are right and the FAC would have cheered us up a bit last season I reckon. Especially if we beat them Mancscum cunts along the way.

  401. Patrick7 says:

Raif – Me too! I’m hoping the potless years were the last 3 and this is the one where it all kicks off…………..and kids in the pipeline to fill the gaps, well that’s AW’s plan I presume.

But these 3 chasing the money, or whatever, will have upset his plans so he has to dip into the kitty for replacements; mind you I’ve heard him say if he can improve an area for the right price he will do so and he’s got a list of players he would like with priorities. Lets hope they meet OUR hopes as well and we crush all before us!

El Tel – If AW doesn’t play the kids in the ‘weaker opposition’ matches, when will they get their experience; the modern game with its demands needs rotation. If they’re loaned out to gain it, we not only can’t use them when we have injuries or tired players that need freshening up but we stand the chance of losing them to those clubs looking after them. We proved last season with no BIG names that teamwork is the name of the game, Greece did it in the previous Euro’s & Turkey nearly won this one. Talent and application with belief makes things possible. Unless SHIT happens as I believe occurred last season …………………………………………

  402. El Tel says:

The only way for me personally Arsen can cheer things up is if he beats the Mancsum to the signing of the Hunter as them horrible cunts will say you can stick Sir Alf we got the real deal. Get Villa or Silva. And to buy a Keeper and fuck off the imposter we have at the moment.

Why does nobody come in for Almunia. Eboue,Hoyte, Senderos ? its not because they are loyal to the Arse really is it.

  403. dennisdamenace says:

The proper way to blood the youngsters is to play one maybe two at a time in an experienced first team, not fill the whole first team full of the fuckers, who do they learn from, what’s the good of results like 5-1 away to the Spudz, what good will that do any of them??

  404. GMR says:

Abdenor, why would we need to sack more?? Wenger said he needed 3 players & that none were leaving. Lehmann & Flamini have gone plus its looking likely that Hleb, Ade & Gilberto will follow shortly so thats 5 out. 5+3=8.

He brought in Vela so only another 7 needed & we’ll have the squad Arsene said we needed!!

  405. El Tel says:

    Spot on Patrick.

I want the kids to play but in big games maybe 2 players to be in the squad not 5/6. Let the fans pay reserve team dough to watch the kids and if its by accident then refund after the game. Other teams have rotation but they don’t have as many kids as us and what exactly did Turkey and greece win in the Euro’s they will be forgotten in time just like we will for being runner up.

I agree that we were very unlucky last year and I believe we were cheated but Wnger played some very out of normal teams in some big matches and we got done. He also made mistakes in matches we were dominating by making poor decisions. He made Avram Grant look like a Master tactician at the Chavs when we were all over them. Senderos will take the blame for that though so wtf

  406. finestcuts says:

Six lads were given pro contracts + Ramsey. The experienced players have yet to come on board….we hope!

  407. david says:

When Wenger played weaker teams in the cup, he used to have a bench full of first team players to bail them out if it went wrong..

Now he has third team players on the bench…

  408. El Tel says:

The rotation system aslo isn’t exactly the answer either. Settled teams do better than those who chop and change every match. We did better when we had a similar line up week in week out a couple of years ago. rotation si so teams can have players they don’t want their opponents to have sit on their arses and taking the money. CC yes play the kids but the FAC is still a big trophy in England.

  409. Patrick7 says:

GMR – Thanks but I knew the way you meant it; no offence taken!

El Tel – Agreed. He won’t buy 7 but does he need to. We’ve discussed Song/Toure being used in midfield and Diaby but we need another for Flamini’s reliability, terrier-like qualities and will to win. Additionally most will agree (AW not) we need a taller dominant CB who will attack the high-ball. Senderos is OK against the weaker teams but out of his depth in some cases and preferably needs replacing.

If Nasri replaces Hleb on the creative front we still need a striker for Ade if he leaves. RVP is too fragile and Vela/Theo/Eduardo would be gambles alongside Bendtner. We need to win something THIS year and guarantee success not wing it on a prayer!

If we get some experienced PL players preferably in, Santa Cruz would suit me for one, then I would be much happier; none and we’re going backwards!

  410. david says:

This bloke would make a good assistant to Wenger..http://www.fansfc.com/arsenalfootballclub/news.asp?newsid=187458

  411. gunnerfever says:

    GILBERTO IS LEAVING TOO :(

Arsenal’s acting Managing Director, Ken Friar is reported to have agreed conditions in principle with Nikos Pateras, Chairman of the Athens based club. Greek daily Sportday quotes Friar as saying “As far as I know the player and agent will travel to Athens to meet with the Panathinaikos people. If Gilberto reaches agreement then we will reach agreement with Panathinaikos.”

The same source also reports Gilberto stating that “I have no problem to come to Greece if financially happy. We will get the proposal in my hands and then stop to think about it.”

If there is a potential stumbling block it is that the player is looking for a 3 year deal while the Greek offer of €2.5m per year is for 2 years with the 3rd year conditional on him playing at least 50% of available games in the 2nd year.

Gilberto`s quiet dignity has won him many admirers at the club. His professionalism in accepting a much reduced role last season in marked contrast to that displayed by some other players

best of luck berto and thanks for the memories.

  412. finestcuts says:

Yeah it’s a shame but at least he could play a part in winning the Greek title with Panathinaikos, he’s earnt his transfer as in he’s given the club many years of quality service and was forced to sit on the bench……and he probably would have had he decided to stay this season. Best of luck Gilberto, thanks for representing Arsenal, thanks for keeping Arsenal in the Champions League in the 06/07 season, without your dedication and goals we could have even missed out on a UEFA cup place.

  413. Patrick7 says:

El Tel – Greece won the previous Euro’s! Agreed Turkey failed due to injuries and suspensions (sounds familiar) but their teamwork was great.

Rotation as we have done it to date (not like the Poos). Unfortunately we had too many sicknotes last year so resting players was not an option at times resulting in our flagging as the line approached last year. I think AW fielded those sides that flopped because he had no choice and unfortunately Bert’s rust didn’t help the situation and I’m not making him the scapegoat, that was one of the unfortunate symptoms: we had a ‘mare (a confidence thing in the circumstances) and our rival/s were on their game/s.

  414. rico01 says:

We talk about 5 leaving – but

    Lehman – Retired
Flamoney – Fuck face that played out his contract when he could have signed
Gilberto – he knew he had to move for football reasons
Hleb – Fed up with the Uk (so he says)
Ade – Greedy Cnut, who needs to watch a few games of himself playing and missing!!

So what in real terms could our club do to keep the above – and in reality, which one/two of the above would we want the club to pull out all stops to keep??

I say, replace Hleb and Ade, and I wouldnt give a toss about them, add to that a gutsy CM and CH and we are looking good

    Not so AKB – eh??

  415. choy says:

gilberto will be missed.. he had a good end to the season though…

the lovely assists for both the theo goals vs derby and sunderland and his goal at the emirates!!!

and all this while didn’t make a lot of noise.. where will we find such people again!!!

  416. Abdenor says:

Check this out, it’ll make you laugh…..

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=QTdBBVW9bTs

  417. rico01 says:

choy – I for one will miss Gilberto, he could have had a few shite games at the end and i would still miss him. He has been a true professional, and a fantastic man throughout his AFC career. I hope the move falls through and he stays, but I wish him well what ever happens. Many of those we seem to discuss could learn from his attitude and commitment – they will never ever be even half the man of GILBERTO :)

  418. Patrick7 says:

    Nice one Rico!

I disagree on just one, Flamini. The club failed to offer him a contract before last season and maybe at the beginning when he was playing ‘out of his skin’. I’m not sure when he was eventually offered one and that might have been too late, especially when a club that he had always wanted to play for came up with a wage that just could not be turned down……………………….He could have been making excuses but he played out his contract as well as his legs could carry him – all the squad were knacked at the end! He carried the fight to win in each match and I thought he showed more winning drive than WG.

Bring on the CM & CH eh?

  419. david says:

Flamini supported Juve as a lad so he has pissed them off too!

  420. rico01 says:

Patrick – that has been alledged, but is there any proof – what about Jan, was he not offered a contract then?? dont want to be hyper critical, but he did give away a few stupid free kicks towards the end of the seaso, CL Pool game was one i think – also i dont think he played the final 3-4 games did he ? could be wrong on all accounts though…..

  421. Abdenor says:

I agree with Patrick, Flamini will be the hardest to replace as i feel he was our most important player last season!

Whoever takes his place has to be someone dynamic with a fierce tackle!

  422. rico01 says:

Got to go chaps – maybe tomorrow….

Huh, heard that before – :)

  423. GMR says:

I agree we aren’t going to sign another 7 players but this is my whole point. Unless Wenger buys 7 more first team players (not kids) then our squad WILL be weaker than Arsene has said himself it should be.

I keep hearing about how some of the kids will step up but what kids you all talking about???? Diaby, Denilson, Traore etc were all used as part of the squad last season so none of those are adding to it. If however your telling me that Gibbs or Randall, two players that couldn’t even get into championship teams are going to step up then I’m sorry but I don’t hold any confidence in that happening!!

  424. Patrick7 says:

I haven’t seen any datelines of Flamini’s dealings so can’t prove it either way. Yes he was at fault in a couple of his last games but he was totally nacked at that point which probably contributed to his injury which was why he didn’t play the last games.
He wasn’t alone in making mistakes though due to the tiredness suffered by all who did not have replacements. My son said he had to be subbed in one match I think half way through as he was out on his feet!

  425. Patrick7 says:

I thought many were saying Barazite and a few others were ready to move up and I guess AW will use Ramsey after Xmas if not before. Diaby, Denilson & Traore will presumably get a larger proportion of games and he may start with Senderos at CB to build his confidence. All will be a bit stronger and hopefully better than last year.

Until we see who he brings in and how they perform it’s difficult to know but people with better football knowledge than me got it totally wrong last year ………..Let’s see what the next fortnight brings. Don’t want to wait too much longer as they’ll need to settle in and we need to win that CL qualifier!

  426. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

if arsenal do not replace hleb, flamini or even ade for that matter there is serious trouble ahead i.m.o.the signings of ramsey or nasri? just will not be good enough arsenal are in for it big time.im really worried this situation is not very good

  427. SIMON MCAHON says:

those other sites that critise us for voicing our opinions on the pathetic way we seem to handle transfer dealings keep saying we are morons because wenger has got till midnight august 31st to reinforce the squad so lets respect the manger and stop panicking ,
I’m SORRY THIS IS BOLLOCKS , take a look at the squad as it stands today 9 days after the transfer window opened ,
our esteamed boss telling us that we need to sell before we buy,
boardroom unrest , obviously due to financial issues,
THEIR ANSWER IS WE SHOULD ALL SHUT UP AND GO AND WATCH THE CHAVS , OR MANURE .
BEST WISHES TO YOU BERTIE , I FEEL WE STABBED YOU IN THE BACK WITH REGARDS TO THE CAPTAINCY, that arrogant blue is not worthy , at least you tried to lead by example , so thanks for everything ..
Why cant our board and boss for once rally us all with major transfers at the begining of pre season , imagine how great that would make all us GOONERS feel .

great shout EL-TEL i’m with you 100% on that Comment about our crap spanish clown of a goalkeeper , alas i think nothing is going to be done on this issue so me and you will have to cross our fingers and bite our lips on this one.

  428. SIMON MCAHON says:

on a much lighter note just seen a trialer for that crap remake of GLADIATORS ,ON SKY…
BUT WOW HOW FIT IS THAT BIRD INFERNO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats a big WOW….. YOU WOULD!!!!!!!!

  429. ethangunner says:

    patrick 7
i think you would get on better at a blog called ACLF ! i think both you and ‘A’ should check it out ! you both sound like your from there to begin with ! Seriously !
with that giddy haze of faith that oozes from you , even when all signs are pointing south ….
you both think somehow things will work itself out !

i think you fail to see that we didn’t make it across the finish line in 1st place last season . and havent for the past several seasons !!!
& with jens-diarra-hleb-flamini-ade-bert all going and 1.. 17 year old replacing all of them currently , with about 5 weeks to go in the transfer period, this is a borderline crisis for the club !

We all know we cannot, and will not replace the leavers with the experience needed due to money restrictions ! and if so the experience wont match the quota leaving by a long shot !!!!
Hence putting us further behind the 8 – ball than last season !

I want to feel the excitement of signing a class player to give us some hope !!!! Ive watched chevski- man U -liverpool and even the spuds and the manC’s do it season after season ! We haven’t……. yet everyone is delusional enough to believe we have a chance !!!

the youth policy and wage structure doesn’t work ! END OF !!!
IT NEEDS SCRAPPING NOW ! – but our board wont !!! ’cause there greedy fuckers !
that think about the Stadium and business end 1st !!!!
and whilst i believe we need to play the youth to get them up to scratch , we as a club cannot afford another 12 months of rebuilding and failure !
However it might take that for most fans to start using there fucking brains …..

We have seen for several seasons now that it simply doesn’t work ! AT ALL !!!!
    FUCK !!!!!
in principal it could work if all players were as skillful as the boss thought they were at 16 … but eboue – senderos – denilson- song -johan-hoyte have had 2 many free lunches ! maybe sat on the side lines too long ! who knows?
and why haven’t they gone on to better clubs ?
because they are bottom of the barrel crap players that no one wants and will now make up the bulk of our bench next season (plus 1st team !) !
thats what killed us last season , and nothing magical has happened in 2 months too change the fate of these players !

Sure they might do well at chalton or wigan , be we aren’t chalton or wigan !
    (well not yet !)

how this club can be skint and refuses to pay high wages is beyond me ..
how the club can charge for the most expensive ticket in the EPL to watch a game of
kids in arsenal shirts is pathetic ,and makes a mockery of the Average fan who spends his hard earned money on going to the game every week or likewise like myself who pays the cable rights to see all 10 Epl games a week !

    currently its a shambles !
and wenger needs to spend and do it soon !

and by waiting for so long to get our 1st real signing , it doesn’t muster up any hope that when we do sign a player that it will be the experienced campaigner we need to turn it into a winning one !!!

we need several big names .. not 1 … several !!!

  430. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Haven’t heard anything on the news about any plane crash in Manchester, in particular Old Trafford, so Geoff must have made it up there safely.

Be carefull what you say Geoff, with manures outstanding huge debts, they probably have old trafford insured for over £850,000,000 more than its actually worth. that being £851,000,000.

Its just a series of add ons over the years. Looks old fashioned & dowdy compared to The Emirates.

  431. ethangunner says:

we should insure our players against leaving !
but the only problem is the only players we have left are only able to be insured for 2 pound 50 pence each a season ! (relative to there value ! )

  432. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Ethan, Hows it going up there in the Mystic East. A lot warmer than down here, I bet :(

  433. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Could this be a preview of Geoff’s one on one with Arsene Wenger.

you know after all this 2ing & frowing of Ade, I don’t reckon he’ll go you know ;) but I won’t mention it to Ethan.

  437. Evo in OZ says:

im not sure whats gonna happen, i reckon if we did infact put the 35mil price tag on, i think its warranted! Barca-Milan need to pay us back for all the cunt acts they’ve done in the past!

Anelka got blooper of the season in the EPL show! brilliant!

  438. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I agree, its time to make a stand/statement with these vultures from Italy & spain. Either put up or fuck off!!

  439. Evo in OZ says:

what ill probably be disappointed about for a long while is that we didnt by either Torres, Berbatov or Tevez!

Wenger has made comments about all of them, yet they were available and arent on our list!

  440. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I tell you what, I rate Berbatov. At first I thought he might just be a long ball type forward, but the more I saw of him last season, the more i liked.

If we could steal him from those lilywhites that would be lubbly jubbly as Del boy used to say.

  441. Evo in OZ says:

hahaha…agreed gnarley! He has superb ball control, dribbling and can strike and head goals from anywhere!

  442. gnarleygeorge9 says:

  443. Evo in OZ says:

most kiwis i know are supremely pissed off that we got him for our new coach!

They know how good he is and that he could coach us to some wins over the all blacks!

ARSENAL are about to lose two key players, with midfielders Alexander Hleb and Gilberto on their way out of the Emirates.

Hleb has agreed a four-year deal with Spanish giants Barcelona and could be gone by the weekend for about $15 million.

Gilberto is expected to join leading Greek club Panathinaikos for $2 million.

Reports in Britain say Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will use the money from both deals to finance his purchase of French international Samir Nasri, who starts training in London next week.

  445. Evo in OZ says:

from memory, this is about 3 rumour stories cobbled together to create 1 new rumour story, the press certainly have a shitload of time on their hands to stich things up!

its actually been raining since 10 pm last night ..
its still fans on in every room weather but no need for air con today ..
its cooled the place down to a nice 26 degrees …

a welcome change .. last time it rained like this for so long was march !
but normally anything around 30 degrees is a good cool day….

cloud cover often stops it here from going much over 30 …
but if you get a clear sky morning .. your in for a hot one .. (50% of the time)
    yesterday infact …

thats one thing i love about Thailand constantly good weather ….
not even a cold season , and the hot season you get used to ….
i used to get 3 or 4 colds a year ..even with a shot !
now i cant remember the last time i had a cold!!

oh yes i do !!!it was when a mate of mine from australia came over and gave the bugger to me this time last year !

this must be your virgin year to blog … because once figures get thrown around
it means arsene is listening ! and when arsene is listening it means hes made his mind up to entertain selling him ! …

also if your as astute to pick up on arsene’s little whine about losing players every year
he is refering too not only hleb but ade also ! 1 time would be an isolated incident ! and arsene wouldnt comment on it !
ade also is enough for arsene to speak publically … as its a trend he wants to stamp out …

but the biggest give away for me is ade’s silence !!!

    its golden :)

  450. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Actually I think the last time I got the shits was when I ran out of Captain Morgan rum 9 years, 4 months, 3 days, 35 minutes……… ago.

i live just out of Pattaya mate, it has a population thats bigger than perth !
i had private health cover for 4 years didn’t use it !

might do it again in another 5 or 6 years .. but just throwing away good money doing that now..
private health cover here you still have to pay for a doctors visit of about 10 bucks
health cover or not … and medicine is so cheap .. the main medicine i buy is children’s pain killer medicine like paracetamol … it costs like 2 bucks a bottle AU !
and buy 1 or 2 a year .. can get 100 nurofen tablets for like 4 bucks AU!
think i still got the original bottle i bought when i 1st got here !
medicine doesn’t carry the same tariffs as AU !

i can even buy vegimite mate so i dont miss out !
    and cheezles !

only down fall of Thailand is a cant find Turkish delight !
    bummer !

  462. ArsenalKenya says:

BACARY SAGNA has piled on the pressure at Arsenal by admitting: We could be out of the title race by March!

The French full-back is still coming to terms with last term’s dramatic collapse — which saw the Gunners choke in the title run-in.

And he admits things may not be much better next time as boss Arsene Wenger fights to stop a mass exodus from the Emirates.

Sagna said: “There is no point in planning ahead for next March because we cannot be certain that we will still be in the hunt for the title by then.

“Obviously, we all have regrets about last season and are hoping to improve on third place.

“But we need to learn from those lessons and that is why I don’t think it is a good idea to set ourselves a definite target for the new season.”

Sagna, who committed himself to a six-year contract this summer, has been alarmed by the uncertainty surrounding the club.

Midfielder Mathieu Flamini has already left for AC Milan, Alex Hleb is off to Barcelona and Gilberto Silva to Panathinaikos.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor also seems to be heading for the exit door.

And Sagna added: “It is a shame that Flamini has left because he was an important part of our midfield.

“And it will be a big loss to us if Emmanuel goes, even though we have not yet arrived at that stage for certain.

“These things happen in football. But the uncertainty is all a part of the game so I am not too worried.

“Samir Nasri is due to join us soon and there are a lot of good young players coming through who could be thrown in at the deep end.”

Sagna, 25, signed for Arsenal in a £6million deal from Auxerre last summer and was a big hit in his first season in England.

Yet he claims his new £50,000-a-week deal does not guarantee he will finish his career with the Gunners.

He added: “The fact that I have just extended my agreement is not especially important. Most of the players who move clubs are under contract.

“But I am certainly not looking to leave Arsenal at the moment and being voted into the PFA team last season confirms it was a good choice to join this club.

“Of course, having so many French people here has helped me to settle.

“I am lucky that nobody at the club distinguishes between the French players, the English players and the other nationalities.

“That’s not the case at other clubs, where there’s some sort of boycott of the foreign players.”

Sagna, who missed the final two months of the season after suffering an ankle injury in March, said: “I started training again last week, a few days before everyone else, just to get back into the rhythm.

“I am already able to do some work with a ball and, all being well, I should be ready for the start of the season.”

  466. gnarleygeorge9 says:

  467. dennisdamenace says:

Chamon indeed gnarley…………i like your style fella!

  468. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    * pinch of coke. sniff!

  469. gnarleygeorge9 says:

  478. Evo in Oz says:

at this rate i reckon i will be personally wearing number 13 as there will be no one else to trade for and i could just as easily be picked up!

  479. Abdenor says:

Dennis – Yepp your man Dkembe Dkembe is defo coming!

  480. dennisdamenace says:

Abdenor – I’d love to take credit for this find of the century, but i can’t, it was Odub……

  481. Evo in Oz says:

im off to the pub lads, ill have a captain morgan for the lot of you!

  482. Patrick7 says:

    Morning all!

Ethan – Didn’t realise you were an Aussie as well! Saw your post in the middle of the night – I’m an optimist! I drink on accasions but rarely so don’t get the depressions of booze which might cause some of your negatives NOT that there’s nothing to be negative about. I’ve just read Hleb & Gilberto going and we know Ade’s round the corner.

Personally I didn’t see Bert with us for next year anyway and Hleb & Ade have been going all summer so we should have replacements in mind.

I can see your crisis thoughts and it will be IF these replacements are not bought in but as I said give it a fortnight and I feel new stars will appear because AW can’t replace ‘stars’ with kids, he needs proven players in most of these cases. We have enough gambles for a MUST WIN season going on currently!

  483. Abdenor says:

    Courtesy of the BBC:

Arsenal have today admitted on their official website that they are tracking down the football gem by the name Dkembe Dkembe who plays for Wagadougou Fc
    .
This comes as a knee jerk reaction to the imminent Departures of Hleb & Gilberto as Wenger has faith in him that he’ll bring that flambouyancy and stylish football that The gooners are dying to find.

But should Arsenal make such a hefty move for the versatile attacking player, they’ll have to break their banks and and pay Wagadougou a hefty sum of £35.9 million.

However this shouldn’t be much worth moaning as AC Milan are willing to pay 40 million Euros upfront for Adebywhore and should pay an extra 10 million depending on appearances!

More to follow soon……………… Keep tuned……….

  484. dennisdamenace says:

Evo – This lad is multi-funtional fella. He can play in more than one position at the same time, so he can play up front replacing Ade, he can play the midfiled role vacated by Hleb, and play at the back, so bye bye Big Willie!Imagine the savings on the wage bill, PHW must be moist in anticipation!

  485. Bud says:

    500 Hoorah !

  486. Bud says:

    I lied !

Morning chaps…… what shit have the media stirred for us today then?

  487. dennisdamenace says:

Bud – The wee man is coming!!

  488. gnarleygeorge9 says:

DDM, Spurs have said they will out bid Arsenal, no matter what.

  489. dennisdamenace says:

gnarley – this cannot be, AW cannot let this happen, we must sell The Emirates to secure this fella’s signature………

  490. Abdenor says:

No hold on Dennis, it’s not yet official…The Spuds are in for him aswell.

It’ll be a tug of war between us and them to secure his services i guess!

  491. Geoff says:

Morning all, I’m not around much today, so that means we’ll sign someone eh???

  492. Patrick7 says:

I read lots of blogs: ACLF is OK but Arseblog is normally entertaining and puts out well informed ‘steadying’ thoughts with a bit of Irish patter but the Grove has the up to the minute info’ from its bloggers even if extreme views are expressed from time to time. I only ‘discovered’ blogs recently due to my son and prefer this one now!

I’m a Londoner now living in France!

  493. Bud says:

Geoff, you are never around anymore………. I would usually understand, but the rakes of abuse you give me when you see me for being a part time Grover…….. fuck it, why bite my tongue anymore……… Geoff you are just a bit player in the Le-Grove Empire……. Pedro is our real King !!!!!!

  494. Abdenor says:

Morning Geoff – you bet we’ll sign someone….. the one and only Dkembe Dkembe, but we’ll have to hurry as Spuds are also interseted.

It’ll be a major coup if we can pull it,

If you listen you can actually hear Ramos spilling his Paella in fear.

  495. Patrick7 says:

One things for certain: with Benitez improving his squad and the others like Portsmouth doing the same there’s a lot more tougher matches out there so we can’t go into the season without some experience renewed in our ranks!

  496. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Apparently the Spuds icon Sir Alan Sugar has come out & said that he has had enough of be turned over by their much bigger neighbour down the road, now they were going to take a stand. They had never heard of Dkembe Dkembe but fuck it they will take him anyway.

Sir Alan got all upset coz he overheard the press gallery talking amongst themselves asking who the phuck is this bloke Sugar. & whats he got that the Dkembe wants.

  497. Bud says:

Adbenor – You got the 500th Post, you done me !!!!!!

I am a broken man now, only the signing of Dkembe Dkembe is going to cheer me up now !

  498. Geoff says:

Thanks for that Patrick, I hope the weather is better where you are.

Bud, one swallow… I’ll give you that with Pedro, but I am playing golf so it’s not my fault.

I have to go and meet for breakfast now, but I’ll be back in 30 minutes, your mrs will be up soon so you’ll have to stop for a while too, shall we re-convene a bit later?

  499. ethangunner says:

im not an aussie my friend born in north london mate !
but came over on the 5 pound ticket in the 70′s !
lived in perth for 20+ odd years .. then had enough of aussie laws and taxes and decided
to move over to thailand as i found myself holidaying more here than living in perth !

so i made it official !

and gnarly .. im not repeating myself , but my internet we upgraded whilst i was away geoff or pedro proably noticed the change in I.P ..
its too quick and i hit send before i gave ‘G’UINNESS its rightful capital letters !!!!

no im not a drink alone kind of guy i leave that to the aussies !
aussies are the only men in the world who dont class themselves as alcoholics yet drink alone every night !

  500. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Geoff how was sunny manchester?

  501. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Ethan, I have drink with my wife, not every night, How is gary glitter, does he live in your neighbourhood?

  502. Patrick7 says:

Sorry about that Ethan – I just associated your middle of the night blogs with Oz. Tell me more of Thailand as it’s a place we’re interested in! My sister moved to Oz about 2.5years ago near Freemantle, about the same time we moved here.

It’s 18.5 degrees and rising at 9am with a clear blue sky in the centre of France. It’s been to England like weather-wise for us even though it’s warmer in the summer and 14 degrees with the right wind is tee shirt weather so spring is normally good but you still spend months waiting for winter to end. So we’ll be moving further south Nimes way unless something interesting attracts us – Thailand?

Gnarley – saw the finish of the Tour yesterday – worth it for one visit. Waited 1.5hours plus for a 30 second sighting. On the 300m mark so saw the lone sprinter and thought he had been caught before the line later confirmed as a Brit on TV! Was just an inflated version of the speed skating I used to compete in here in the 70s – the was 4-5 days town to town!

  503. Patrick7 says:

…..a Brit winner that passed him that was!

  504. Pedro says:

Post will be here soon… A Pedro special today…

  505. gnarleygeorge9 says:

P7 Where I am, its cold @ the moment, certainly not 18+ degrees. As for Fremantle, I’ve never been there, but I’ve heard from many that its a top spot. I’m sure your sister will love it.

  506. gnarleygeorge9 says:

…..Fremantle & Perth are the most isolated cities in the country, separated by desert from the rest, although that doesn’t mean the blokes there drink alone :)
