Hleb goes, Ade must stay, Arshavin… Stick, Usmanov, Kroenke?

Morning Grovers… and what a miserable one at that, on the football front and the weather front!

So… first up.

Adebayor is staying, Hillwood says that he is one of our best players, he has 3 years on his contract and that is a contract that he will not be released from.

Tough shit Ade… you’d better pray the Gooner faithful are in a forgiving mood.

Hillwood did however admit that Hlebinho would be leaving for pastures new, as reported by Le Grove last week.

“Hleb has made it clear he wants to go,”

“I think maybe he will go.”

Barcelona is Hlebs preferred destination, so let’s wait and see on that one!

The one good thing that may come out of this is that if Barca sign Hleb, it leaves that path clear for us to sign ’2 games’ Arshavin. Apparently the Chav’s have dropped out of the race and Arsh would like his kids to learn English in London. His agent said this,

“The clubs who are following him are only just warming their engines.”
“Arshavin’s future depends on what happens with Hleb and Adebayor.”

Exciting stuff there then! We sell a player who can’t score or assist and buy in a player for less money who can do both of those and more. What is even better about Arsh is moving to Britain would be the equivalent of a Brit moving to Spain… he is gonna love the weather! Weather he can hack it physically is a different question, but for me… his a 27 year old footballer, he’ll be alright!

Finally onto something darker… the quotes from yesterdays NoTW interview can from Agence France Presse (AFP), the worlds oldest press agency! So, unless someone comes out and denies it today, take the quotes at face value. If you read the interview, I think what is clear is that it wasn’t about Arsenal becoming a selling club… it was about player power, maybe an unintentional slip of the tongue by Arsene?

All the same, it raises the ugliest of questions… what do you want?

A) Usmanov to add us to his portfolio and catapult us to the top of the spending leagues with his dirty money.

B) Nice guy Stan to takeover as he is the favoured Billionaire. He could turn us into a big time player just like he has with his other sporting successes. Beware though… the weak dollar would probably see him levy the debt against the club.

C) Remain a selling club with the current board for 17 years because we have a long term plan.

I’ll let you decide the best option there, but one thing I will say it this…

Everyone is expecting a big implosion with football. Many people are saying the type of wages on offer cannot be sustained and people will just switch off in the end. Well, can I point you in the direction of Baseball, Basketball and NFL. They might be American sports, but I am pretty certain they don’t have the same following as the Premier League, yet the wages make the Premier Leagues look pathetic. We’ve already had a TV rights crash and we’ve come back even stronger.

Spoilt brat mercenaries are here to stay, sorry people.

There is a reason the Oligarchs and the Billionaires club are tracking only English clubs… they see a future in it and they see money in it.

Anyway, I’ll leave you to chew the fat off today’s post!

Happy blogging!

    morning all

The sooner Hleb is gone the better, we can all move on. i think Hleb out the door, Arshvan (I think a lot of us are agreed that we don’t know how he’ll work out, and aside from his two games in Euro I hadn’t come across him) in and the whole mood around the club will lift. Should be interesting to see Ade run out for his first game at the Emirates…..that boy will need to have a hell of a season to silence the haters. I’ll still never see him as a tru gooner.

I’ve always liked the fact Arsenal was family run, but you know what, whether its a Russion Oligarch, Yank Billionaire, or the current crop….make no mistake, whoever is running the club aint doing it for shits and giggles…they are all there to make a killing. So does it really matter who it is. No owner wants to run his new club into the ground. And just because AW could potentially have boat loads of cash to throw around, doesn’t mean he would….he can still run a tight ship….just nice to know there would be a botomless pitt of cash whenever he needed it.

  8. k says:

the fact that hleb has burnt his bridges and nobody wants him, is a lesson to us all. I imagine his agent is working furiously behind the scenes. He will go to a lesser club in Spain, never Barcelona.

“adebayo is not for sale, not for love, not gold”
I hope nobody calls our bluff!

  9. stonroy says:

Morning all. I don’t think we are going to get that much money for Hleb. I’m guessing around 12 million.

  10. tbuzz says:

Ade-buy-money staying..? Wow, didnt see that coming. ;)

Top post as usual by the way.
Apparently the Chavs arent in for Arse-cuttings so he’s now been “heavily” linked with The Arsenal…..well just watch out for Sp*rs interest too as they like to link themselves with any player linked with us!! What tossers!

  11. GMR says:

Is PHW an idiot?? His comments don’t even make any sense, first of all he says Adebayor isn’t going anywhere because he has a contract & then he says Hleb will probably leave as he has made it clear he wants to go!! Well Adebayor has made it clear he wants to go so whats the difference??

Before anyone says Hleb can buy out his contract, no he can’t. He had to give Arsenal his official resignation within 15 days of the final match of the season & he didn’t do it.

This transfer window has become extremely frustrating, we still have unhappy players that we could actually be stuck with & we haven’t signed anyone that’ll strengthen the first team.

  12. Odub says:

    Morning all,

    Top post,

And I hope PHW wasnt being serious about us keeping Ade, because we’ll end up with a player next season who will defo score less goals, booed by most at the grove, become a disruptive influence, and eventually drop in value and we’ll end up selling him for 15 mill!!

Can someone please make all at AFC fully aware that most do not want that twat around our team, and we would rather have the 30 mill, shit, we’d even take the initial 24 mill offered!

And getting rid of Hleb seems to be taking forever!!!

Just get rid of both of the want away cnuts!!

My take on the Usmanov/Kronke debate….. Go with Kronke!

  13. finestcuts says:

The Arshavin rumours just won’t go away, Hleb for Arshavin + cash?

  14. Mark C says:

GMR, Ade has probably not said that he wants to leave, just that he wants more money.

I think we can stay as we are, we are not making huge losses, and revenue is up.

The TV prem money has increased, and whilst some of that will filter in to higher wages, we should be able to buy players.

We had 70 mill in cash I thought???

Arashvin to Hleb would be amazing.

Dont forget the big Center half !!!

  15. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

Big Center Half please…… here, here

  16. Shivers says:

I doubt very much we ever had £70M Mark C :(

  17. Joe Todd says:

Hope you like the new funnies i sent..

I’d rather Ade stay and Hleb leave than the other way round.

Not sure on the takeover stuff, I’ll think about it.

  18. Pierre says:

Can’t believe Tt is now tipped to stay, why’s that, cos we turned down the £24m and they are now sticking 2 fingers up @ us! £24m offered for a player we paid £4.2m for 2 yrs ago? I really cannot get my breath. And I don’t think Arse shaving is the answer, I think attacking midfield is just fine if pleb fucks off and nasri gets back off his holidays, we need some shoring up in the defence, worst goals conceded record in top 4 last year, this year with no flamini in the mix we’re only going to get worse, why can’t the powers that be see this, its bleedin obvious!!!

  19. choy says:

hello people.. how are ya all doing?

missed you guys… so we’re still no where i see!!

  20. stonroy says:

My worry with Adebayor is if he stays, he will think he is the king of Arsenal and play a more selfish style of play to get as many goals as he can so he can either ask for more money the next year, or go somewhere for more money. He’s shown his cards and it’s all about fucking money, we don’t need that kind of mentality, and if we did take that he would have to be as prolific as Henry. He wouldn’t even come in the same stratosphere as Thierry’s shoe lace…Fuck him off now.

  21. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

    Agreed Pierre;

Its driving me nuts that the so called Professor AW can’t see what e all see…DEFENDER! Never mind all this other shite…we’re screwed without sorting out defence.

  22. Pedro says:

Cheers Joe, they were brilliant… I stuck them up yesterday!

Check out the funnies if you haven’t already!

Note that Peter Hill-wood said we will keep our ‘top’ players… veiled dig at Hleb?

As much as I like the Hlebster… If we sold him and got Arshavin in… would you be that bothered?

GMR… the excuses list rolls on for Nasri… now it is the Financial year! haha!

Shivers… £70mill was our cash surplus this year! Check the financial reports in the side bar.

Is anyone sensing a busy week? A lot of rumblings from the Arsenal camp!

  23. Odub says:

There is no way anyone at AFC can tell me we dont need that 24-30 mill being offered NOWAY!! Take the money, make a 20-25 mill profit and get someone else.

Ade is nowhere near as good as people (and he) think he is, and will get found out next season.

  24. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

It’ll only get busy once Hleb is sorted out, then i think things will start happening. Why is it becoming such an issue….Im sure things are in the works……but I worry Hleb will still line up for us next month. If Barca aren’t going for him…who else is?

  25. Odub says:

Top shout guys, and has been mentioned on here numerous times, sod Arshavin (dont rate him), get a bloody blood and thunder, ugly motherfucking take no prisoners Centre Back!! PLEASE!!
    Jeeeez!

  26. Arsenal Tom says:

there will be plenty of takers for hleb but once he’s been linked with barca the question is will he want to go there!!

everyones back from hoidays etc now so i expect things to really kick off… especially with pre-season about to start

  27. kenyan gooner says:

had a disturbing dream last night. We were up 2-1 cant rem against who and apparently Ade was still in Arsenal and he was just shooting from all over the pitch.shooting wide that is.And liverpool were up 5-1 against newcastle.Soon it was 2-2 after a GK blunder. What a nightmare! For Starters i think we should let Ade go.He will become more selfish.I think Niklas can do a better job.

  28. Pedro says:

I’d go along with that Odub… I just don’t know who fits the bill these days? Where did all the scary centre backs go? A Sol Campbell in his prime would do me nicely! I just don’t know where that player is coming from?

I think Hleb is off… I’ll take Arsh as his replacement, it would be like for like.

I worry if we don’t take the Ade money… he’ll be worth half next year and he wont rediscover this years form.

Oh well, at least he’ll sign a new contract with us next summer… then RvP will leave!

  29. kenyan gooner says:

n plus if hleb is having problems with the weather why not sell him to an N.african club smwhere in the sahara desert.

  30. Pierre says:

Odub, an ugly motherfucking centreback? no, no, not wes brown, please!!

  31. tbuzz says:

Nice touch Joe Todd with the funnies!! lol
Odub, I take it youre referring to a Martin Keown look alike then.. ;)

  32. Joe Todd says:

Don’t you rate RvP Pedro or are you joking?

Have you got the e-mail i sent about one of the funnies pictures missing?

  33. Paul says:

Up until quite recently I was dead set against Usmanov taking over. People throw around insults regarding the guy. They say his money is dirty. Without getting silly can someone lay out their LOGICAL objections to him? On the plus side I cannot see him coming in with Dein and wrecking the club for the hell of it. Dein is Arsenal through and through and Usmanov must be quite a businessman to be worth several billion. Could it be that, he has made his money and at 50 odd years old he wants to have some fun by taking a football club to the peak of world football? And what better club is there to do that with. Arsenal have a great ground, a brilliant manager and a rock solid core of supporters. I am neither for nor against at the moment it’s just that I would honestly like to hear some reasoned arguments and not just more insults.
    Thank you gentlemen.

  34. tbuzz says:

    Ha ha! Nice one Pierre.

  35. Abnet Arsenal says:

    Mornig all
what a misireble week we had last week i think we are heading to the same one for the next week as a gunner

  36. GMR says:

Pedro, I’m not fussed about the Nasri deal now, as I said I think it’s dead but that Marseille are desperately trying to restart it due to needing money. If he signs it’ll be a nice surprise & if he doesn’t then thats what I expect anyway!!

  37. Joe Todd says:

I doubt the Nasri to Arsenal saga is dead.. He will sign, I’d put money on it.

  38. Pedro says:

No one can earn a million dollars honestly.

    William Jennings Bryan

Paul, I know where you are coming from… they are all corrupt, they all did something along the way that wasn’t law abiding!

    Joe, I’ll have a look…

I rate RvP, I meant that he’ll start banging them in this year… then he’ll start talking about his admiration for Mourinho next year.

  39. Joe Todd says:

Ohhhh, lol. Yeah got RvP on my shirt again this season, I have a lot of admiration for him.

  40. Arsenal Tom says:

if RVP and Eddie play like we know they can then ade wont even be garaunteed first team football… that should sort his ego out!!!

  41. Odub says:

So the boys go back to training today?

I’ve made a decision to get Satanta this season so I can at least see the pre season games, and our new signings….Ramsey, the 15 year old french kid, and any other boy scouts we sign!!! Great!!

Bored with the whole Nasri thing, can’t even get excited about it anymore!

  42. GMR says:

There is huge speculation spreading in France that Hleb is joining Marseille as part of the Nasri deal.

Its probably another bulls**t rumour but he is apparently in Marseille as we speak!! I wonder if thats because Wenger is there or if its a genuine rumour!!

  43. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

    Ryan Nelson at Blackburn?

  44. Odub says:

GMR is that from your ”source” ?? ;)

  45. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

    GMR;

I hear the ice cream in Marseille is particularly good at this time of year.

  46. Pedro says:

Joe… I missed it! That one is pretty funny…! it’s up now.

    Cheers.

  47. Joe Todd says:

Okay mate, it’s a good one, I know.

  48. Romford Pele says:

if you think AFP are infallible just because they are a longstanding news wire then think again. Never, ever, ever taken anything written in the press at face value.

Im beginning to warm to the idea of Huntelaar in for Ade, with a healthy profit on our side. Ade’s burned his bridges as far as im concerned.

  49. ArsenalKenya says:

We can allow Kroenke but not Usmanov. PHW should sell Adebayor before his price falls next season. With the money received from these two deals he can either buy Santa Cruz/Hunteelar and Arse raving. We don’t need the 43 yr old who will always be in Africa for the African Cup of Nations.

I hope Nasri will sign this week and Wenger will unleash him with two other new players.

What happened to Amaury Bischoff !!! or Bishop!!!

  50. GMR says:

    Odub,

No its from a friend that is out there on holiday. Apparently a couple of media outlets are running with it, I haven’t got a clue whether its true or not (would Hleb want to join Marseille??) but it seems to have started because he is/was genuinely in France. Maybe he was there to meet Wenger or maybe there is more to it!!

  51. Pedro says:

Romford, I didn’t mean infallible… I just meant that the reports didn’t come from a fan who overheard a conversation in a restaurant.

A few people were suggesting that the comments were made up yesterday…

  52. kenyan gooner says:

RVP is great he is going to bang goals however i cant promise he will be fit to take the mantle from Ade

  53. patthegooner says:

    PLEASE NO

Seriously I will fucking fucked off if Ade stays

Once again it shows that the board really could not give a fuck about what we think

This better be a smoke screen to get more money for him, otherwise PHW can go fuck himself

  54. Pierre says:

That Manure Village People on the funnies page is a fucking classic!!! brilliant!!!

  55. Odub says:

Join the club Pat, I really hope he doesnt even turn up for pre season! Get rid of him!!

Cheers GMR, strange one that , why would he be in Marseille? Hleb I mean…

  56. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

Another example that not everything we read in the papers can be taken as word of god…yesterday we are a selling club….today we will not allow our top players to be sold! What the F….

  57. Arsenal Tom says:

PHW hasnt got a clue tho really and has next to no shares, he’s just trying to look like a though business man in the media

cant see hleb going from a move to inter/barca/ munich etc to marsielle

  58. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

Hleb may not have a choice…we should put him up for sale and force him out…he has no place at Arsenal anymore. He got dropped by Inter and now he’s fecked! I hope he does end up at a middle of the table club…that’ll learn ‘em.

  59. charybdis1966 says:

Pierre/Odub – thank god you’ve said we’re after a centre back and not a center back.

  60. Joe Todd says:

What’s the odds that Hleb will do a Reyes and ruin his career?

  61. Matt says:

Ade and his agent have made some stupid comments, of that there is no doubt…

But, it was clear he is only trying to get an improved contract, and in business, different cultures negotiate in different ways.

In what way does selling Ade strengthen the team?

I agree that the comments from his camp are not great, but lets not cut off our noses to spite our face here.

  62. GMR says:

Thing is with Hleb I’d actually respect him more if he did go to a club where he isn’t in the middle of a large city. If he only leaves for a big club eg Inter Milan, Bayern etc we know his reasons were utter rubbish, however should he join a club such as Villarreal (just an example) I would understand that.

  63. Arsenal Tom says:

    JOE…

i fucking hope so mate, fuck him, i doubt theres another team in the world that suits his play like we do

  64. Pierre says:

Matt, I’d cut off my nose if i could sell it to someone for a fortune and buy a better nose for myself while at the same time making a profit ; )

  65. Odub says:

    Matt,
I suggest you have a dig around the net and read about Ade’s previous shannanigans to get an idea of why we dont need him!

Metz,Monaco or word cup 2006 with Togo… I say no more!

  66. Arsenal Tom says:

    lol pierre!!

looks like huntelaar coul dbe a real possibility to although he does seem to love man utd… AJAX have signed a new striker

    http://www.footballpools.com/pundits-corner/2008/07/05/klaas-jan-huntelaar-finally-on-the-move-ajax-sign-new-128m-striker-arsenal-manchester-united-chelsea-man-city-liverpool-tottenham-everton-in-hunt/

  67. patthegooner says:

    Dont agree Matt

The guy is a cock of the highest order

If he stays and gets his money, it starts the floodgates of everyone else knocking on the door. I think he could also be a de-stabalising factor in the dressing room. He is just not worth it

Sorry what he did is un-forgiveable, there are ways to get more money and that was not one of them, all he achieved was to alienate a fucking lot of fans that stuck for him last season

Lets take the money as it will never be offered again, even if it does mean cutting off our nose to spite our face

  68. Odub says:

I’m thinking he’s going to struggle to get support next season, and his fav song ‘give him the ball and etc etc’ aint gon be on everyone’s lips next term either!!

  69. lc says:

I don’t think Arshavin is ‘two games’ players. He has played tougher games against a lot of western big clubs with Zenit (Marseille, Bayern Munich and Glasgow Rangers).
I don’t think he will come to us, because I believe he is not really pleased with AW’s comment.
Ade can stay, but we really need a clinical striker as big as Ade (Hantelaar).
Being a selling club; I don’t see any pb with that, as in principle every football club that is run as business is a “selling club”; because ambitious clubs have to bring in new players every season in order to achieve their goal; then in return, they have to sell to make space at the end of the day.

  70. MorrowsBrokenArm says:

Yeah…im happy to loose a nose for Huntleer.

Fact is if football is a game that has lost its soul, as fans we can still at least show the mega buck stars that there are some things we will never stand for…..as stupid as it sounds I’d sacrifice Ade 30 goals if it meant getting rid of a player who wasn’t comitted to the cause the way we fans are. I have nowt against a player trying to get as much money as he can, hell I’d try the same….but this club means everything to us, all I ask in return are players who feel the same…..otherwise no hard feelings, thanks for your time, now here’s the door to a club ho’ll put up with your shit. Thats how I feel about the whole mess!

  71. kenyan gooner says:

Its seems to have taken forever but its almost here.first we play barnet on the 19th which is like 12 says to go.Atleast we have sm football to look foward to.@ndly this makes me feel alot better

  72. kenyan gooner says:

how do you guyz rate saviola?pedro where is the link i sent u guyz to chech out?

  73. kenyan gooner says:

    just seen it

  74. gazzap says:

the SWP story annoys me. Ian wright spouting off about him not getting games etc at Chelsea. well boo fucking hoo. Arsenal made a fantastic offer for him but Chelsea bid a bit more and offered more wages. Of course they did, they are bottomless pit. The Wright’s chose money. they made their bed and now they have to lie in it. An Arsenal legend should have advised his son to go to Arsenal not to the blue scum. bloody idiots. SWP has actually really damaged a promising career going to that shithole. just shows, even ex-arsenal legends are mercenaries, so what chance have we got with people like Ade?!!

  75. Danish Gooner says:

All this money mercenaries thing is a self inflicted wound.Wenger started the trend of giving players more money when they had one good season. This season he has prolonged Songs contarct and some say a vastly improved contract. He improved the current contracts of Clichy and Sagna and now Ade wants in too…how can you blame him.Believe you me You wouldnt like to be employed as a ceo and find that the desk clerk is paid the same amount or close too it.Wenger must stop this bleading heart sy ndrome and hold them to their contracts it isnt as if they have won stuff.Where is the incentive to win things if they know that they will receive a shit load of cash anyway ?

  76. charybdis1966 says:

    Number 10 all time best AFC palyer, according Arsenal.com – it’s Pat Jennigs. Arrrggghh… he’s a spud !

  77. gazzap says:

be honest though. If you knew that with Ade we’d win the prem and without him we’d finish 3rd, would you still want him out?? I mean I have principles, but first and foremost I want Arsenal to win games and trophies. Having said that, I still want Ade to be sold as I think we could buy equal quality for less!

  78. Evo in OZ says:

    morning all

  79. dennisdamenace says:

    Morning all………

  80. Matt says:

Clearly Adebayor has been ill advised, and i dont argue that his behaviour has been very poor.

But if he scores a hatful of goals again next year, and we win the title – will any of us be complaining?

  81. dennisdamenace says:

A couple o’ things bothering me this morning peeps.

Does anyone fancy having the Togo Tosspot with us this time next year when he only has two years left on his contract?? The time to sell him is NOW. Otherwise we spend yet another summer concentrating on trying to get another fuckwit to extend his contract at the club.

Odub – I’m finding it very difficult to remain positive and upbeat here fella, i know we agreed to give it until the end of July, but i’m fecking seething fella. How can Arsenal turn down either Jabba the Hut or the Yank’s earlier offers of money to fund transfers and now tell us we have to sell to buy, what sort of insane bollox is this!!!!

  82. Pedro says:

It’s a tough one matt! Have we ever had to deal with a situation like this before?

It is not like he is a fan favourite anyway… throw this summers issues into the mixer and you have a very odd situation?

It’s not how we will react to the goals… it’s how we react to him going on a 10 game dry patch.

I like him as a player, he has faults… but you’d rather him be with us than without… but he has been a cunt and I don’t agree that it is a culture thing. His agent is Italian I think…?

You know it is bad to spit in someone’s face whether you are from Togo, Spain or Brazil… we shouldn’t make excuses for someone who have been living in Europe since he was 15.

  83. Odub says:

    Dennis, same here!!!

It’s getting more and more difficult to see the positive side of anything arsenal at the mo, but still trying hard!!

My deadline was end of July, if nothing happens by then I’ll go back to preaching doom and gloom again!! Might have to bring that forward to mid month!

  84. gazzap says:

so how will Ade play when there is no love for him emanating from the crowd? I tell you how he will play, badly. how much will ade be worth next summer with 2 years on his contract having played badly and then been dropped for Nik B? I tell you – about £5m. Take the £30m NOW Arsene, dont be stupid. If he’s not proud to pull on the red and white then he can fuck off.

  85. Arsenal Tom says:

    pedro.

his agent is french stevenn kourbis… the itaian agent was one of these ‘super agents’ who was working for milan

  86. dennisdamenace says:

Can i join you in a mid-July rant then Odub, i feel it coming on!!!!

  87. dennisdamenace says:

gazzap – well said, i feel holding onto TT will have dire consequences for the rest of the squad, his ‘I AM’ attitude is bound to get bigger rather than smaller and as such could alienate him from his team mates as it already seems to have with the fans. Couple that with his ‘value’, and let’s be honest here, it’s not gonna get any higher than it is at the moment, especially as a players relative value is tied to the length of contract he has still to run…….

  88. GMR says:

DDM & Odub, I’m surprised you can wait until mid July. I’ve already been on the downward spiral for quite some time. Its depressing!!

  89. dennisdamenace says:

GMR – It’s only the white rum that’s keeping me from blowing right now fella!

  90. dennisdamenace says:

GMR – And, as for the Nasri thing, i’m totally with you on this one, i personally think this is ‘deal’ is dead, another Ribbery scenario IMO, how fucking ridiculous do we look as a club getting involved in situations like this……

  91. GMR says:

DDM- must admit I’ve never followed the alcohol route, mainly because I’m well aware that between the end of one season & the start of another I’d very quickly become an alcoholic. I’d have to consume large amounts every time there was bad news & we all know just how much bad news there has been regarding Arsenal this summer!!

  92. Odub says:

How about we wait until the Barnet game and if the situation hasnt change, the Monday after will officially be RANT DAY?!!!! July 21st!!

    Any takers?

  93. GMR says:

DDM- even the Marseille manager Gerets (or whatever his name is) was talking on Thursday or Friday about how good it would be to play Nasri & Ben Arfa together. I wonder if thats because he knows something we don’t!!

  94. twinstaiye says:

I had said it befor eon this forum that Adebayor is going nowhere. By the way, the RVP Activity on the side widget needs update, the euro is over.

  95. Pierre says:

Hey Grovers, why not find a rumour you like, then believe it! It will cheer you up, and if theres a rumour you don’t like, ignore it! I choose this rumour to believe, its from todays Guardian “Barcelona expect to secure the signings of Emmanuel Adebayor and Aleksandr Hleb this week. Adebayor has three years to run on his contract at the Emirates but has sent out mixed messages all summer suggesting he would be better paid abroad. Barça are ready to pay £30m for him and a deal is likely to be concluded imminently with the Catalans’ economic vice-president Ferrán Soriano saying last Friday that “next week there will be news on Andrei Arshavin, Hleb and Adebayor”.

So we sell both the tossers to barca and get £45m cashback!

  96. owen says:

um, usmanov is bad because his motives are questionable- does he just want the club for a laugh with abramovich? for one thing, it was questionned in the press whether he even wanted to buy the club to improve his own international reputation to make himself more secure (this was before all the bad press. oops.) what if he buys the club and gets bored/in trouble with putin etc.

stan kroenke is better because firstly he has a successful track record in owning sports teams, his intention is to get in with arsenal because he thinks football will take off in america, and he wants a piece of it. that he is willing to work on the board without being the owner shows that he has genuine interest in the club.

it will mean more (to me, at least) if we win doing it our own way than because someone bought us.

  97. dennisdamenace says:

This might be the last post i make in a positive, glass half full slant, so here goes.

In an ideal world, Hleb goes to Barca in a swap deal sending YaYa Toure in the opposite direction with surplus of £5m. Then AW accepts Barca’s improved bid for our Togo Tosser of £30m. We then buy Huntelaar and Arshavin with the proceeds from these two sales………….ha ha ha they’re coming to take me away, they’re coming to take me away………..Nurse! My medication if you please!

  98. tbuzz says:

Im with Pierre, regards Alex and Ade for £45m, but can Eboue be chucked in there for free?

  99. dennisdamenace says:

Odub – The 21st? Yep count me in fella, that’s unless i’m not sectioned beforehand……

  100. dennisdamenace says:

GMR – Honestly, without the brew i’d go insane during the summer months, it’s either drink or switch of SSN, t’internet and ban all talk of The Arse!!!!

Again, the Nasri ‘deal’ stinks mate, who else in world football gets embroiled in these soap operas like we do?

  101. Arsenal Tom says:

id have kronke all the way, hes got the money, repuatation and a far better public image than that fat fucking man utd supporting russain criminal dog.

im happy for ade to go as long as the money his sale generates is reinvested in quality players to replace him and hleb… AND A DEFENDER!!

  102. GMR says:

I do wonder if Hleb has actually been sold already but that Arsenal have done a Marseille (asked to keep things quiet) until they can officially announce a replacement. It does seem strange that Hleb’s agent has gone so quiet after being so vocal about him leaving. This would surely be the period when he would be most active now that the Euro’s are over & managers are back at work, but he isn’t muttering a word.

  103. dennisdamenace says:

A Tom – I’m with you on that fella, better the Yank, at least he’s a man who seems to be passionate about sports, unlike that fucking Russian criminal, who’s only interest is how much money he can bleed out of his acquisitions……..

  104. Paulinho says:

I’m so pissed off that Hleb wants to leave. He, more than anyone else IMO, makes this current Arsenal side good to watch. He is a slithery genius, Fabregas is a workman-like genius, if that makes sense.

I wouldn’t pay much attention to PHW about not including Hleb in his best players. I can imagine him with his whiskey and cigar complaining that ‘ that Russian guy never feckin shoots does he?’ PHW wouldn’t have a clue about how football works, hence why he so desperate to keep Ade. Probably just looked at the goal stats.

Arshavin isn’t as good as Hleb. He needs service whereas Hleb helps construct the service. They’re both different but there are plenty of Arshavins in this world-Rosicky being one of them- and not many Hlebs.

  105. david says:

We have gone from a £75 million pound transfer budget down to a £25 million pound transfer budget.
Now we are hoping that if we sell a player for £30 million we might put some of the money back in to buy another player or two.
The Arsenal PR machine is working better than ever..
How do the new shirts look?

  106. Joe Todd says:

How can the Nasri deal be dead? His agent has said 10 days as he is on a well deserved holiday, his family have said he’s joining, there were pictures of Nasri put up onto the arsenal.com srvers but taken down in the space of ten minutes, his manager’s said he’s joining, his chairman’s said he’s joining, they have the replacement in Ben Arfa, and Ben Arfa’s taken his number. If he doesn’t join i will be very, very surprised.

  107. El Tel says:

Devestating news to hear the TT is staying. Hleb and Nasri must be done soon. I know for a fact Nasri’s contract was ready to sign before the Euro’s.

  108. Joe Todd says:

Don’t forget about Wenger acknowledging that he’s joining on AlJazeera too.

  109. pierre80 says:

Never did get an e mail from worldpress, guess it dont like hotmail, so I switched from being Pierre to being pierre80, although I am not a number, I’m a free man!!!

  110. El Tel says:

Can we stick TT in goal as he is tall and fast and probably a shot stopper. As good as we have at the moment.

  111. Pedro says:

Pierre… go into your wordpress account… go to users… click your name and change the nickname to whatever you please…

  112. rico01 says:

Good Afternoon Grovers – Am I 1st again!!

Have to be sneaky as the good geezer is off this week!! ;(

    Great article Geoof/Pedro

My view – its all bollocks, PHW and AW confilict in what has supposedly been said, and I dont believe a word that either has spouted.. Press crap, and until either release something on AFC.Com, then I take it all with a pinch of salt… Bloody Mind Games yet again, and its our minds that get played with!!

Like Pedro earlier, I think all this indicates this is going to be the week that things are going to happen, thats if there is anything to happen – if you get my drift..

Like us all, I have spent the last 6 weeks, eager with anticipation that we were going to sign a few players, we havent. Pre-season gets under away today, so maybe everything will now start to move – hopefully Ade and Hleb will be part of that move.
If Ade stays, so what, the pressure will be on him big time, and if he is as good as HE thinks, then he may even surprise us all with 40+ goals!!!***!!! Maybe!

Hleb – well that hopefully will be sorted this week…

Fingers and toes crossed firmly!! :)

    Have a good day Grovers

  113. Arsenal Tom says:

nasri is coming thats all done, but once hleb goes it means nothing, in fact we’re actually worse off because atleast helb is used to the premiership.

i know hes got potential but ramsey barely counts as a signing either

  114. top_gooner_stow says:

david :I got my new shirt from the armoury Saturday! FABREGAS 4 on the back! Looks awesome!
Got given a £10 voucher to use when they release the away shirt! How generous of Arsenal after spending 52 of my well earned english sterling! Lol

  115. david says:

Remember what almunia done to sign!

Almunia: It was Arsenal or honeymoon

Manuel Almunia admits he broke-off his honeymoon to sign for Arsenal.

He told the Daily Express: “When I got married, I travelled to London virtually straight from my wedding.

“I was on a boat just off Naples when my agent rang and told me I had to take a flight to London in two hours for a medical.

“I told my wife we had to leave so we packed quickly and I told the taxi driver I would pay him anything if he got me to the airport in 20 minutes.

“After that it was like being in a movie like Speed, racing through the streets – it was scary for both of us.

“But we just made it and I did my fitness tests with Tony Colbert when I arrived.

“I was on my own in the gym with nobody else at the training ground – just Tony and my agent sitting next to me giving me encouragement but it all went well and here I am.”

  116. Joe Todd says:

    I thought i wouldn’t get a reply to the Nasri thing…

  117. Arsenal Tom says:

anyone know when the first team squad fly out to austria??

  118. MARK GOONER says:

get rid of ades dont want him sticking around get 30 mil and take the money

  119. pierre80 says:

nasri not signing till he comes back from holiday, seems he feels about as enthusiastic about us as we feel about him!

  120. david says:

Joe that was a reply to nasri and his well deserved holiday!

  121. Pedro says:

Joe, I think the point about Nasri is summed up in your comment…

You have just listed 20 reasons as to why the transfer hasn’t gone through…

Is it that hard to sign a contract?

Would you go on holiday for 10 days before you signed a multi million pound deal?

It will probably happen… we hope

  122. top_gooner_stow says:

I have a new found respect for Almunia I hadn’t heard that story before. That’s what it should be like for prospective players. Instead you have the likes of players like Arse shaving holding out for other players to move before deciding his next venture. I want boys that are proud to put on our shirt as I am every time I step out my door!

  123. Odub says:

So has the team reported back today yet?

  124. pierre80 says:

All credit to Almunia for cutting short his honey moon to sign, but of the top 4 keepers, Aklmunia, Cech, Reina and Van Der Sar, which one would you least like to have at Arsenal? Worrying isn’t it? (well, perhaps Van Der Sar is an old man, but Kossack and Foster in line behind him arn’t exactly shit)

  125. charybdis1966 says:

From circumstancial evidence it does appear that Nasri is not that bothered about signing for us – he has had plenty of opportunity to tie up the loose ends and sign s0o unless it’s due to his club(I don’t mean us by the way) delaying for their own reasons he hasn’t enamoured himself to Goons striaght away.

In an ideal world, i.e one in which I made the decisions (!) – I’d tell him to shove it and bugger off. He’s like a coquette ( by which I don’t mean a potato based snack) who’s messing a suitor around puyelry to boost her ego.

Further more in this ideal world we’d sign Villa/Huntelaar, Friedel, Wheater and dump Adebayor. I know, fat chance of any of that happening.

  126. tbuzz says:

Wow david, never heard that story about Almuni-blondie before…top marks to him.

  127. Odub says:

Yeah, I also here Eboue cancelled his wedding to join Arsenal, and got married 6 months after joinning…..Does that make him player of the season?!! ;)

    Disclaimer…

Odub would like to point out that the previous statement above was made with his tongue placed firmly in his cheek!!!! :)

  128. Evo in OZ says:

bit tired tonight lads, not much news so im hitting the sack!

    catch you all tomorrow!

  129. Dobbi says:

I’ll take option 3 anyday, just because the 17 year “selling our best players” bit is such a load of crap nobody in their right minds believes it. AW sells when he decides it will benefit the squad or when he’s been forced, (which hasn’t been often). And i wish both Hleb and Ade are both sold. I don’t care how good they are, they simply don’t deserve to put on the read and white anymore just based on their mentality and attitude towards Arsenal. Both a wankers!!!

  130. Arsenal Tom says:

BETTER FORGET ABOUT ARSHAVIN… fresh on the bbc…

Russia forward Andrei Arshavin has dealt a blow to any Premier League suitors after it was revealed he only wants to play for Barcelona.
Barca are the sole club to have bid for the £20m-rated Zenit St Petersburg star, despite reports suggesting he was set for talks with Arsenal and Chelsea.
“Arshavin wants to move to Barcelona – he doesn’t want to play anywhere else,” a Zenit spokesman told BBC Sport.
The 27-year-old shone at Euro 2008, helping Russia reach the semi-finals.
However, Zenit’s asking price for Arshavin may prove to be a major stumbling block in any potential deal.

“Barcelona have made an offer but we are still negotiating with them. I don’t know when a decision will be made but I think Arshavin will leave the club,” added the Zenit spokesman.

The negotiating could be over the “£20m to £25m” fee Zenit coach Dick Advocaat expects for his striker.
Barcelona told BBC Sport they would not be making any comment on the current situation.
Arshavin, who scored twice during Euro 2008 after missing the first two games because of suspension, has been given leave of absence while he decides on his future.
“Andrei won’t play until things are all cleared up,” confirmed Advocaat.
“It’s a joint decision. Better put, I told him he shouldn’t play and he agreed.”

  131. dennisdamenace says:

I’m actually impressed by that, well played Almunia, shame that Nazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzri doesn’t show the same commitment……..

  132. Pedro says:

Pierre give me Almunia over Reina and VDS any day…

    Even Cech is looking dodgy…

  133. Odub says:

So Arshavin to Barca, Hleb can’t go there nor Inter seeing as Jose the Ego is now in charge, where’s Mr Vanilla Ice going to end up then?

Let me see… he’s after a quiet town/city…… Plymouth Argyle anyone?

  134. pierre80 says:

20m – 25m for arse shavin, if a bid triggers a release clause in a players contract, does the owning club have any leverage in driving up the asking price? I thought Arse shavin had a 10m buy out clause, and if just Barca are bidding, theres no auction driving up the price so surely he sells at 10M? Or am i just nieve? Barca, save your cash till you’ve bought Adebayor!

  135. dennisdamenace says:

    Arsenal T – No big loss there, f*ck him………

  136. El Tel says:

Doesn’t the recent comments about the GOOD players leaving and the Poor ones wanting to stay tell you something about Almunia.

Because he is such a good bloke it makes it ok for him to play in goal for us. Well never mind because when we win nothing again because the whole defence is shit except him please don’t agree with my comments on him being the worst keeper ever to play for us.

  137. Odub says:

5 players I would sell if I was manager of AFC

Senderos – Dont think he’ll make the grade.
Hleb – ice cream slurping twat
    Ade – Deluded egotistic twat
Hoyte – Love him to bits, local boy and all that but not good enough
    Eboue – no explanation required

5 to Keep at all costs
    Cesc
    Sagna
    Clichy
    RVP
    Theo

  138. Arsenal Tom says:

20m+ is way over priced for arshavin, hes a good player but not 20m material… deco only cost 8m!!!

  139. tbuzz says:

Nah Odub, Hleb can move to Croydon with ear-muffs, he’ll love it!! :)

  140. david says:

El Tel are you saying Clichy, Fabbie and Sagna arn’t good players then?

  141. Odub says:

El Tel, same applies to Senderos really!

He wants to stay, so we all say ‘oh he makes the odd mistake but he’s trying ever so hard, he wants to stay and loves the club!’

    Sod that!!

  142. Dobbi says:

I’d keep Ebue as back up to Sagna. He’s a decent RB.

  143. Pedro says:

El Tel, I have never read a comment saying that Almunia should be our keeper becuase he is a nice guy!

You could take your comment and apply it to cesc, sagna, clichy, RvP and all the other players who have pledged their future to us.

Alumnia was not poor last year… at one point papers were suggesting him a realistic option for England.

He is not a bad keeper and he make less errors than Reina and VDS.

You’re only as good as the back four in front of you… and last year, Kolo and Gallas let things slip.

  144. dennisdamenace says:

tbuzz – Croydon?? Have you had a bad experience there??

  145. El Tel says:

Nasri probably already signed and maybe booked his holiday months ago. Because he isn’t here makes him an arsehole and a bad player now does it. Also his Club held up the deal as it was Nasri’s own website that said he has signed.

FFS we are giving him an hard time before he has kicked a ball for us.

How anyone can put Almunia above the other 3 keepers is beyond me, lets hope I am wrong and he really does improve.

  146. GMR says:

Joe Todd- just to point out that Ben Arfa hasn’t taken Nasri’s number. Ben Arfa has been given the number 20 shirt & Nasri is number 22.

All those people you listed as stating he would join gave timelines & apart from the latest one (that being the 10 days his agent has now talked about) each one has passed & nothing has happened. Wenger said before the Euro’s & it didn’t happen, Papa Diouf said 2 days & then a few days, it didn’t happen, Nasri via his website announced he had signed then reversed it. The pictures supposedly on Arsenal.com did not have Nasri in an arsenal shirt so thats no proof the deal is done.

I just believe its a no go, but should he sign then I’ll be delighted & to me it will be somewhat unexpected. However even if he did sign we need more than just Nasri if Hleb is definately going otherwise the squad is effectively weaker than last season.

  147. aaron says:

we need a hargreaves type player in midfield and a vidic type

  148. come on people, look at the figures and don’t take Wenger’s words at face value. Arsenal is not skint, we don’t have to sell for 17 years. We just have to be prudent.

Arsene says one thing in the morning and a different thing later, much like Ade.

  149. aaron says:

and who is this henessy guy i keep hearing about? i heard he is a star keeper for the future. is this true? is he better than what we have? if almunia messes up next season because of lasck of competition, bench him and get a star keeper

  150. El Tel says:

    Pedro

The comment about him being a nice guy came when Jens was dropped and it was said that the Players liked him in goal.

The defenders get blamed all the time but he is last line of defence, he see’s everything happening around him, he should be organising things. I doubt he does any of them.
I am not alone in thinking he isn’t good enough and how do you know he made less mistakes than the others do you have the facts, and if you do answer the one I have been asking for all year. What is his saves to shots ratio?

And the funniest thng you have ever said is he could have played for England priceless mate.

  151. aaron says:

finally, someone sees the light.!!! wenger is a master schemer. i dont trust him with the truth for one second whebn it comes to money and transfers. he is up to something. we are not skint

  152. Bud says:

The whole situation around Arsenal at the moment is one big Shitheap…… Sums it up that Wenger and Hill-Wood prefer to do their speaking via the media than inform their fans without any artistic alterations the press may make on their own fucking website.

An embarrassment and a joke, that’s Arsenal right now. Get rid of this current poxy hierachy……… I’d rather have the Fat Orange one and his grotsque Russian Bullfrog Buddy in charge right now……… and that attitude has been born out of one thing, them treating the fans like mushrooms…….. in a shit place in the dark !!!!!!

  153. El Tel says:

    aaron

Thats my concern mate, you can’t sign players at will there is a transfer window and other Clubs wanting to keep their stars. What if he starts the season like Jens did last year, he wouldn’t be dropped would he as Fab2 would be to inexperienced.

Almunia has been with us for years and he has never been number one until Jens made 2 blunders, If Jens hadn’t done this where would Almunia be today.

  154. aaron says:

Bud, i would rather be lied to, tricked, and ignored….and get the players we target, than to be informed and treated well…but miss out on our targets because other clubs poach them.

does that make me a mushroom?

we all knew it would be hard when we left highbury but we all knew what it was for…i have not lost sight of that

  155. pierre80 says:

I’m not saying Almunia is a bad keeper, just not good enough for Arsenal, blimy we limped through the last few Lehman years and just when Wenger finally realised he was a liability, (ewood park last season) we find the long term replacement is Almunia. I thought (hoped) he would be a stop gap till last january transfer window, but no. With Gallas at the heart of our defence we need a strong keeper, cos Toure cant run the ship on his own!

  156. Bud says:

On the other hand….. it is blindingly obvious they are playing poker faces at the moment to get prices up for players they want to sell and prices down for players they want to buy……….. but its still fucking ridiculous that they play this chirade out in the press……….. maybe thats why Edelman went, because he told the world we had money and then every fucker stuck up a price when we came knocking and a couple of greedy cunts in our squad decided if we had so much money, they could have a pay rise !!!

  157. Bud says:

Aaron – The point is this fucking embarrassing chirade………. WHY does no other club do it and get the players they want……….. it’s pathetic !

  158. dennisdamenace says:

Let’s be honest here guys, the vast majority of the Arsenal first team (Almunia included) would not get a starting berth in any of our Championship winning sides. And, as long as we keep employing/playing cheap average shite then we ain’t gonna win anything…………oh crap, sorry Odub does that count as a pre July 21st rant??

  159. david says:

Lehmann did make those blunders and more for Germany.
If he didn’t Almunia would have carried on training as normallplaying in the cups and keeping his gob shut acting like a proffesional footballer unlike some.

If Almunia isn’t good enough Wenger picks him have a go at Wenger!

  160. aaron says:

pedro…whats a guy got to do to get a nice pic next to his name ’round here?? i want one too. Bud’s one is impressive

  161. Pedro says:

El Tel, I didn’t actually say it… but many journalists suggested it, even Wenger did. Google it.

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3003528,00.html

The rumour about the players liking him wasn’t about his personality… it was because they had more trust in him. He is calm over corners and he was more reliable.

Ask Manc fans about VDS… he was a problem for them right up until the final of the champions league. As for Reina… I am sure there is a you tube compilation of his errors. He flaps at crosses, drops shots and is generally a bit of a liability.

I sadly don’t have a shot to goals ratio… but even if I did… what would it prove?

A goalkeeper cannot decide the types of shots he faces… so you can’t use it in an analysis.

Shots to goals for a striker is fair… becuase the striker decides the outcome of the shot.

How many of our goals conceded were down to the defence not dealing with set pieces or crosses properly? Most of them…

I think you are knocking him unfairly…

  162. GMR says:

Reports like yesterdays in the NOTW are a serious concern. If those quotes aren’t correct then the club should issue a firm denial & not just for the fans sake but for the players as well. You even have fans of Marseille that are saying why would Nasri want to sign for a club with no ambition when they have a good chance of winning their league if he stayed!! Thats the way people are viewing Arsenal now & thats due to the constant negative press which Arsenal never ever respond to.

We all accept they cannot & shouldn’t respond to every story, but when a newspaper is supposedly directly quoting the manager, then if its all lies something should be done.

  163. Pedro says:

Open yourself up a wordpress account and upload an avatar Aaron!

  164. aaron says:

    Bud
i dont really care what the club says as long as its NOOO to madrid and Barca. and YES to quality players

  165. Odub says:

Dennis we’ll call that your practice run! ;)

  166. aaron says:

quality play speaks for itself. if we say we have nothing…yet win the league…do we lack ambition? talk is cheap…thats my point. we need victories starting now

  167. dennisdamenace says:

Odub – Cheers fella, very understanding. I have been under a fair bit o’ pressure lately!

  168. Abdenor says:

Hi all – Not got much time so i’d better make it quick.

I watched Arshavin destroy Bayern in the Uefa cup semis and produced a man of the match display against Rangers in the final so it’s unfair to call him a “2 games man”

He had 2 blinding games in the Euro’s but people would rather look at his poor display against Spain and suggest that he would not be a good signing!

Concerning AW’s alleged quotes that were printed in yesterday tabloids, i’d take those with a pinch of salt, since when has he ever being truthful while addressing the fans or the media for that matter.

He’s selling a few porkie pies as usual, next may is the time to judge him not now, if he doesn’t get it right then you strike the consequences from that point of view!

Got to dash back to work now :(

  169. aaron says:

have a good one guys. i’m out

  170. dennisdamenace says:

GMR – That’s exactly what i was talking to my brother, and fellow season ticket holder, about last night, the fact that those sort of ‘quotes’ can damage us as a club. Indeed why would a semi-decent player wanna come to a selling club. So, if not for the fans, at least for the sake of the reputation of the club, an official statement should be issued against this type of ‘story’, unless of course if it’s true!!

  171. Marko says:

A salary cap. Thats what is needed in football to stop players getting richer and clubs losing power.

  172. Matt says:

    Bud,

    You have lost it mate!

We have always acted the same way regarding transfers, we don’t comment on specualtion, and we report the deals when they are 100% done.

Why wind yourself up by believing everything you read in the paper.

If you would rather have Dein and Usmanov, then you need to have a little lay down in a dark room and chill out for a bit.

    GMR,

Your constant negativity about the Nasri deal is interesting – Do you have any facts to back up anything you say on the matter?

If you dont , i offer the same advice as above – dont be naive enough to believe everything you read, and chill out!

  173. pierre80 says:

Adebayor reminds me so much of Anelka, on that deal Wenger saw sence and sold the bastard, made planty of cash and Anelka was never the same player again, now Anelka regrets leaving Arsenal, tough shit son! Well boss, do the right thing again now, ditch Adebayor and take the money. Oh, and buy Micah Richards!!! (havn’t mentioned him for a couple of days)

  174. dennisdamenace says:

Matt – Where’s the naivety in having an opinion?

I happen to have the same opinion on the Nasri Soap Opera as GMR, i hope to be proved wrong, but at this moment in time if i was a betting man i’d put a fiver on it turning out to be another Ribbery debacle……

  175. david says:

The Nasri signing has been given three dates, by Wenger by Nasri and by OM they have all been and gone so why should GMR beleive Nasri is signing?

  176. dennisdamenace says:

Trying not to be too negative about this whole Nasri cobblers – we have been down this road before, last season with Ribbery, and before that with Baptista when he eventually signed for Real Madrid, so there has been previous……..

  177. Gunner8 says:

errr B, his wife is one of the Walton’s and has a fortune listed at around $12billion, don’t think ol’ Sta on his measly $1 bill will get short

  178. Paulinho says:

I don’t think Arsenal should respond to stuff we hear in the NOTW. If we did it would just fan the flames and keep the story going. As it is I’m pretty sure most people have already erased the article from their minds.

What Arsenal should do is get a move on and make some statement of intent. Wenger seems loathe to provide any real optimism at any point in an off-season, until he comes out with his usual ‘I have great faith in the youngsters’ bollocks just before the season starts,

  179. Odub says:

Matt do you work for AFC?

If you do good for you. You know things we don’t and feel free to share….HOWEVER

If you dont, why do you feel the need to tell people to go and have a lie down and chill just because they have an opinion that differs from yours? Rather patronising don’t you think?

  180. Pedro says:

Gunner8… I don’t think Stan would ask his wife to lend him a couple of hundred million so he could buy a few players!

Stan likes to do it oragnically… so he wouldn’t act like Abramovich.

It would be a business, not a hobby for stan.

  181. Pedro says:

Oh and Matt… GMR isn’t the one believing what he reads… you are.

GMR is saying he doesn’t think the deal will go through.

  182. dennisdamenace says:

I for one would feel very positive about Stan having more of an involvement in AFC, purely becuase he has business acumen AND has a feel for sports, ideal for our board.

  183. Odub says:

Pedro, you on your own today mate?

Am I right in saying the bear’s not been on today?

  184. Pedro says:

That’s true… not sure where the bear is!

  185. dennisdamenace says:

Well if he’s having a Hoffmeister, then i think we should all follow the bear!!

  186. dennisdamenace says:

    Sorry!

  187. Odub says:

no drinking for me today DDM, monday and loads to do!! Speaking of which, I’m off to a meeting!

    Have a good one grovers.

  188. pierre80 says:

here’s 1 from the times online “Arsenal linked with Andrei Arshavin as well as Samir Nasri. Great – entertainment. But how about a keeper, a centre back and ball-winning midfield player? You cannot challenge for the title without them. ” Wonder if wenger reads any of the papars?

Oh, and to answer the original question in the blogg, B Stan, reluctantly. But he does look like Cliff Thorburn who I liked as a child! (thats not the real reason by the way) you would have to dwell in the gutter to be happy for a Russian crook (alledged, possible, ther views expressed here in no way reflect those of the managemant) to take control of your team, right?

  189. tbuzz says:

    Back from lunch.

Dennisdamence…I live within Croydon, everyday IS a bad experience! Its becoming as rough as brixton IMO…aint what it used to be but still love some parts of it!!

    PIERRE 80…love the Avatar!! ;)

Anyone for giving Al-blondie another chance in goalie? I have a feeling he’ll do better next season, though pressure from other keepers within the squad will help…

  190. GMR says:

Matt, do you have your own mind & opinions or you totally reliant on Arsenal or Arsene to tell you what to believe??

I don’t need any facts to back up my opinion on Nasri, simple because it is an opinion & nothing else. Do you have facts to back up that he is signing?? & don’t link to the empty words of Wenger, Papa Diouf & the guys useless agent because so far all of those have spoken complete crap about the whole deal.

  191. chris says:

ok i cant work out pierre’s avatar. i see some tom tom’s and some blonde lady, is it your girlfriend or is it some celebrity that i dont know?

  192. tbuzz says:

    chris…ha ha!! ;)

  193. dennisdamenace says:

tbuzz – I know Croydon very well indeed, i used to live in South Croydon, but currently live in Bromley, but Croydon is well shabby compared to even ten years ago…….

  194. charybdis1966 says:

tbuzz – you’re obviously a fan of friday night at Zinatra’s then ?

About 10 years ago you go tin for £6, before 10, and it was all inclusive (watered down) drinks for the night and all the ladies-with-tatooos came for free.

Have to agree with GMR on the Nasri debacle – definitely shades of the Ribery fiasco there. I usually try to be poaitive about players – but in this case Iit’s just given me the ruddy hump and I’ve had enough of him.

Sod off back to Marseille and have yourself another 10 day holiday you munter !

  195. dennisdamenace says:

Chary 66 – Ha ha Ha, feck me ‘munter’, that’s really tickled me…………honestly though, these fecking players are fecking clueless, talk about how to endear yourself to the fans……….

  196. ArsenalKenya says:

If Adebayor does end up staying at Arsenal for the time being – presumably with a new & improved contract – then I hope the terms of any deal include:

    - him learning the rules & regulations of football
from a top referee, in particular the offside rule
    & it’s varying interpretations.

    - a complete ban on him kissing his badge &
declaring his ‘love’ for all things Arsenal.

    - a complete ban on him (& his agent) giving
interviews to the press & broadcasing media.
Any communications from him are to be relayed
    via our official site.

    - him spending more time on improving his
overall game, as opposed to working out new
dance routines to celebrate goals scored (ditto
    for Eboue).

  197. choy says:

    lol….

  198. Bud says:

Matt – You hit it on the nail…….. “every year”…….. WHY?

Other clubs do not have this open laundry problem!

Other clubs reassure fans on their own websites when shit is written……… so are Arsenal right to leave their millions of armchair supporters and most expensive Season Ticket paying customers in the UK believing bad press, or should the PRESS OFFICER, that they pay a decent wage to, do his fucking job !

As this site is a site for opinions, I’ll have mine, you have yours, and never tell me to lie down in a dark room again you sanctimonious pedant!

  199. pierre80 says:

chris, my avatar is a pretty German girl with her boobies virtually out, drinking from a 2 litre glass of lager! My kind of girl :P

  200. pierre80 says:

*girl, not girt, although she may be called girt for all i know!

  201. raif says:

    1st…!!!

    Ooops that was Yesterday………..

any way. i think iv heard just enough of all the transfer sagas of every single player going out and comming in. its starting to get very VERY TEEDIOUS NOW..
as iv already lost faith in our abillity to sell when we should, and buy when we should.
Arsenal seems to like doing the Complete opposite.

and i would go fo Option ( B ) Kronkee is a SPORTS MAN. and a Nice guy.
the russain on the other hand is a fat cunt and a MAN UTD supporter
    “Need i say any more”

if not Kronkee then stick with what we have now.

  202. chris says:

oh right now i know why tbuzz was laughing at me, i thought is was a drum kit

  203. top_gooner_stow says:

GMR your opinion is your opinion therefore your opinion cannot be wrong because it’s your opinion! Couldn’t agree more with you fella!

  204. Bud says:

See how clear it is when you put it like that !

  205. pierre80 says:

what, the boobs or the lager?

  206. dennisdamenace says:

    Well said Bud,……………..sanctimonious pendant……classic!

  207. tbuzz says:

I know what you mean dennisdamence, Bromley’s is just around the corner from me as i leave a stone-throw from Beckenham.

charybdis1966…lol!! I wasnt a fan, I can asure you. :) Still love the pic PIERRE 80, dont even care where the jugs..I mean girl comes from!!

  208. tbuzz says:

Both of them Pierre…and the booze too! lol

  209. Bud says:

I too would prefer Stan, and in all honesty would not want the Russians, but if it did happen, I would not be as pissed as I would have been before, because, I am cunted off with all things Arsenal at the moment……. BUT no doubt, we’ll swap Hleb for Ribery with Bayern and sell Ade and buy Villa and that French Tit will get back off his holidays and sign and I will be the happiest Pig in the Finest Shit known to our Bovine friends !!!!

  210. Pedro says:

I was thinking… wow, bud is keeping this very nice… then bang… the last line! haha!

  211. GMR says:

No offence to anyone but I really wish people would stop using the fact that Usmanov is a man utd fan to justify why he shouldn’t be in charge. Use all the supposed crimes he has committed against him & I have no problem with that but don’t use which club he supports, otherwise it means we have to label Ramsey as a c**t & somebody who shouldn’t play for the club as he has clearly said that he supports man utd but thinks he’ll get more chances at Arsenal.

As for Kroenke I think he’ll buy the current boards shares over a long period of time once he comes on board (as PHW has indicated), meaning he wouldn’t be able to lump debt onto the club (well not until he took over & then as he’d have already paid the cash so it would seem a useless idea). The thing with Kroenke is that he’ll make fortunes through other revenue streams that he’ll generate at Arsenal so he will reinvest a large portion that the club make each year into the team. The guy has a proven track record with sports teams & with investing into those teams, Usmanov on the other hand would be a complete no no in my book even with all his money.

  212. charybdis1966 says:

tbuzz – I was dragged there many a time – against my will of course.

Bud – I thought Ribery was out of action for ages; even a non shooitng Hleb is better than a hospitalised Ribery.

  213. dennisdamenace says:

    tbuzz – christ! I drink in Beckenham……….

  214. matt says:

if you read my post you will see that i didnt comment one way or the other on nasri signing.. All i asked was why people seem so adamant one way or the other. Oh, and apparently if i dont agree with you bud, you resort to silly name calling. :-)

  215. GMR says:

tgs, thats right my opinion is my opinion & cannot be wrong as it is only an opinion whatever that opinion is. I will continue to share that opinion until the day that Geoff or Pedro get fed up with my opinions & are of the opinion the site is better off without my opinions!!

    You keeping up??

  216. Pedro says:

Matt, you were pretty condescending… and you told Bud he had lost the plot. That could be construed as being inflammatory…

  217. ethangunner says:

    Hey kids im home …

ive come back to the news that we’ve signed … officially
    NO ONE ~!

    and chevski signed deco !!!
    brilliant ..

    & wenger stating this …..
Wenger has revealed the ongoing cost of the move to the Emirates Stadium two years ago means, financially, his hands are tied.

“The strategy of the club is to sell every year and to buy less expensive players,” he told the News of the World.

“We manage at Arsenal to maintain all our football ambitions – national and European – while having to free up – for 17 more years – an annual surplus of £24million to pay for our stadium.

“The club’s strategy is to favour the policy of youngsters ahead of stars and to count on the collective quality of our game.”

Wenger is frustrated by the financial power players have over clubs.

“If I had the power to change anything basic in football, it would be the transfer system which makes mercenaries of players,” he continued

“If they are bad ones, they stay and, if they are good, they think only of leaving.

“I have fought for them to earn a very good living, but I impose respect for their contract upon them.”

So does that mean only hleb is going ? or he only rates hleb as our best talent ?
and ade is still going !!!

30 million offer for ade !!! .. and we are strapped for cash !
    is hillwood fucking delusional ????
that cash would get us out of the shite ???

i think hillwood is even more delusional for stating he isnt for sale after he knows full well ade wants a BIG BUCKS pay rise !!! ..

its good to see the wheels are still falling off ,

i should have not been so shocked about that !
being out of the loop for a week , or that we would magically had solved all our problems
whilst i was away … But to see the same old BS being talked about with no fresh faces coming thru the door , is fucking depressing !!!

  218. tbuzz says:

charydbis…you must have done something really bad to be dragged done sinatras! I never ventured in there but from what you could see from the exterior…that place was a hell-hole!! How did you survive being dragged there “many-times”?? lol
    dennisdamence…it truly is a small world . :)

  219. tbuzz says:

welcome back ethangunner!! How have you been?
You must be gutted Ade’s not going then?lol

  220. dennisdamenace says:

Welcome back to the surreal world of Arsenal ‘Football’ Club egunner…….

  221. chris says:

so no crouch for us then…..

  222. Odub says:

I’m back!!!! I hate work meetings!! Anyway’s what’s going on?

  223. GMR says:

Matt, I quite clearly stated the reasons I’m so sure the deal is dead. The fact that Wenger, Papa Diouf, Nasri, Nasri’s family, Nasri’s agent have all said he is moving to Arsenal have nearly all given dates that it would happen & have then all changed their minds tells me that the deal couldn’t be completed for whatever reason. The latest one is the 10 days his agent is now on about & no doubt when 10 days are up someone else will come up with another reason why it hasn’t happened & will give another deadline. If it happens then great if it doesn’t happen now then its what I’ve suspected since last week.

This is a blog that Geoff & Pedro keep going even though there is f*** all real Arsenal news about, it means that people have to come on with opinions, ideas or whatever to keep the chat going. If you are only interested in actual arsenal facts then stick to Arsenal.com because thats the only place you’ll find them, but don’t come to blogs & start trying to tell people what to do just because speculating on transfers isn’t something you enjoy!!

  224. Arsenal Tom says:

“even a non shooitng Hleb is better than a hospitalised Ribery”

very debateable!!! lol… the stuff wenger said almost sounds like hes saying how people percieve us rather than what we really are… its all media spin either way

  225. top_gooner_stow says:

GMR I think I follow still! Lol

    In my opinion

Note all rude obnoxious grovers that slate all long standing members of this awesome site.

My opinion is my opinion. I never said my opinion was the ultimate, final answer. My opinion is simply the stance I choose to take on issues after carefully weighing all sides and looking at all the relevant information. Opinion. View. Belief. It is the ultimate irony to make the statement “Your opinion is wrong,” because an opinion can’t be wrong. It can be disagreed with, but it can’t be incorrect because it is simply one’s personal view.
Think about what the word opinion implies before you start telling people their opinion is incorrect. Merriam-Webster defines opinion as “a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter” or “a belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge.”
One individual’s personal beliefs might be different from those of another. This is what makes life so much fun. It makes politics interesting; it lends color to talk shows; it makes the opinionated editorial page one of the most highly read sections of every newspaper. Don’t degrade the importance of differing opinions by dismissing those you don’t agree with.
I understand that debates often get heated and sometimes personal. But even if someone’s opinion offends you, force yourself at least to listen, even if you don’t agree. What you learn from someone else’s beliefs might make your case stronger. I have faith in the intelligence of humanity. I believe that most people out there can come up with better arguments than, “Your opinion is wrong.” Making this statement is the lazy man’s response to an issue. A quality argument requires more effort than just blowing off the other person’s beliefs.
Making a good case for an opinion starts with complete knowledge of the subject with which you take issue. There must be a firm foundation of facts to back up what you believe.

Phew sorry to rant had to get that off my back after reading some of the comments over the past few days! I think the above should be signed and agreed upon before people are allowed to post!

  226. ethangunner says:

The strategy of the club is to sell every year and to buy less expensive players,” he told the News of the World.

“We manage at Arsenal to maintain all our football ambitions -national and European

    ( yes barely MAINTAIN recently ! )

    no surprises THERE !
See the club has got fuck all cash !!!!
the the stadium has crippled us !!!
    HOW ?!

when chevski came for no where on there 1st EPL win i said this club will be destroyed by the financial commitment to this new stadium ! I didnt think we would be still
    crippled now !

David dein ! Is a fucking legend !
he saw all of this crap ! He knew we couldn’t compete, even back then !
He knew we needed financial clout of a money man !
I hope all you arsene knows best CUNTS ! see how much bullshit youve been typing !! for the past 3 or 4 years !!
but i doubt even the most loyal arsene KB supporter will have patients for the next 17 years !

I think this is a big step for arsene to come out and state the above statement !
(most of us smarties on le grove knew it already )
he will be off at the end of his term … and i dont fucking blame him !!!

  227. dennisdamenace says:

GMR – Do you see AW coming out at the end of August and saying that SN was his main (only) target and as such didn’t have a backup plan (a la Baptista). Then behind closed door PHW and his cronies congratulate AW for saving them £12m……..

  228. Odub says:

    Easy rule to follow…

Speak to people on here as you would your mates, because inadvertently that’s what we are on here. Fellow gooners having a chin wag.

If you can’t follow that simple instruction, I am unfortunately have to be very rude in order to get my point across……

    FUCK OFF!!

  229. Odub says:

    Ethan’s back!!!!!

Dennis, I don’t like his chances of waiting until 21/07 for a rant! Fuck me he’s off already!! lol!

  230. pierre80 says:

Did wenger really say “we manage at Arsenal to maintain all our football ambitions” how come we’ve won fuck all for 4 years? id that the limit of our ambitions?

  231. chris says:

odub you are so rude, life time ban for you….!!

  232. Odub says:

Oi you lot slating Sinatra’s in Croydon, that used to be THE spot in the old days…. for the grab a granny brigade!! ;) lol!!

  233. Dave Boy says:

    Hi all,

    new on here… just a quick question…

Can someone remind me why Hleb wants to leave Arsenal?

Is it simply a case he’s a greedy wee shite and was offered more money by Inter mid-season only for Mourinho to replace Mancini and tell Hleb to do one?

  234. pierre80 says:

grab a granny!!1 theres a phrase from my past! whoops, did i just let a cat oput of the bag?

  235. chris says:

so that is why charybdis goes!!!

  236. dennisdamenace says:

You know Odub, i knew ther was something vaguely familiar about you fella………

  237. Pedro says:

Well, nothing more to say on the matter… I think you guys have covered everything!

What is it with Croydon and this site! I swear we had this convo a while back…?

    Welcome back Ethan!

  238. Odub says:

Chris, I am unbanable!!! I am the INCREDIBLE HULK!!! Grrrrrrrr

Just kidding Geoff/Pedro! Love your work :)

  239. dennisdamenace says:

pierre80 – If it’s a direct quote it sums up totally the people running our club right now. PHW earlier stating that AW is under no pressure to win trophies, fucking disgraceful quote!

  240. tbuzz says:

    Er….grovers, have you seen this?

    http://www.premiershiplatest.com/news/hammers-noble-dismisses-arsenal-link-5511803.html

Is this a joke or what? Its getting scary now as we’re being linked with anyone and everyone!! Madness!! This is Madness!!

  241. GMR says:

DDM- thats exactly what I think is going to happen. I don’t think it’ll take until the end of August though he’ll say it when the media start pestering him sometime after the Barnet friendly.

Odub & TGS, couldn’t agree with you both more if I tried!! How many times have Geoff & Pedro asked people to stick to opinions or fact only rather than going down the route of every other blog & decending into insults!! (unfortunately I’ve allowed myself to fall into that trap on a couple of occasions recently).

  242. chris says:

tbuzz, no text for me fella on that link

  243. pierre80 says:

I can understand, chairmen, directors, the board not being concerned about winning trophys, but the Manager? I can’t believe that! WTF are things coming too?

  244. dennisdamenace says:

Fucking Noble! Haven’t we already got enough reserves??

  245. charybdis1966 says:

Odub/T buzz – I was working in Penge at thew time and the a few of the girls(in their late 20′s I hasten to add) from the office would go there – so me and another goon mate(who still goes to matches with me now) would tag along for the hope of….

Yes, it was rough, I can remember at least 3 times having to wash blood off my shoes after a night out there. I remember the lager was so watered down I sobered up after a few pints. The “buffet” was just as risky – salmonella anypone ?

  246. Odub says:

Dave Boy, London’s too noisy for him. His words, not mine!!!

Dennis you have me confuded with another Odub, I’m a nice non granny grabbing type of guy!!!

It really is getting difficult keeping this positivity thing going, but the light mood on here does help.

Pedro dont remember the previous Croydon conversation, never the less, I’m sure there’s better things to talk about than that hell whole, like Pierre’s avatar, can we have a full size version of the pic please mate?! lol!!

  247. ethangunner says:

    DDM

hey mate .. whats been happening ?

    surreal??
sounds more like ”The People That Time Forgot (1977)”

have we even been marginally linked with anyone good ?
has narsi got the same problem as flamini ?

cant find a pen in north london ??

  248. tbuzz says:

    Chris…

West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble has dismissed reports that suggest he is to move to Premier League rivals Arsenal

21-year-old Noble has been a professional at The Hammers since 2003, after coming through the West Ham Academy set-up, and is a current England Under-21 International with 10 caps.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of Noble, and it had been rumoured that Wenger would make an offer for the highly rated midfielder, having seen French International Matthieu Flamini leave the Emirates Stadium for Serie A giants Juventus.

However, Noble has revealed his intention to stay at Upton Park, after breaking into the first team under manager Alan Curbishley, and enjoying a successful season last term with the East end club.

“I want to concentrate on West Ham and hopefully let them people keep saying those sort of things,” Noble told Sky Sports News.

“I think it’s just all rumours and I’m firmly happy where I am at the minute”.

With the new season almost upon us, Noble is eager to help push West Ham forward, and compete for a UEFA Cup spot next season.

He said: “Hopefully it’ll be a bit more exciting than last year, and we can push on into the UEFA Cup places.”

  249. dennisdamenace says:

pierre80 – It’s fairly obvious fella, AW/PHW & Co’s ambitions are to generate money, that’s why we pay the most in Europe to watch the cheapest team. And, as long as AW gets us into the CL each season PHW etc are happy………

  250. Odub says:

Mark Noble not intrested in coming to Arsenal? Didnt even realise we were after a waterboy! I thought Eboue had that covered!!

Chary perfect description of the place!! What used to get me was people used to queue for hours to get in the dump!!

  251. pierre80 says:

odub pal, it took me a week to figure out how to get a fucking avatar, i’m clueless at pc stuff, if i could reproduce it on screen for you all i would, but i don’t know how to!

  252. Bud says:

    Welcome DAVE BOY.

Hleb wants to leave because he is a CNUT !

  253. top_gooner_stow says:

Dave Boy: If memory serves me correct Hleb at the grand old age of 27 wants to move onto pastures new before he gets too old and he does not like the hustle and bustle of a city life and says he often has to retreat back to Stuttgart for a quiet break! In my opinion lol he can fuck off there permantly with Jens!

  254. choy says:

i think we were linked with noble earlier!!!

the press are having a field day though!!

  255. Matt says:

Right – my last post was from my mobile so i couldnt get my point across.

Firstly – i will say that my original comments were light hearted, and should of been taken as such before you all launched an attack on me!

You guys need to learn to not be so precious.

I am within my rights to come on here and question peoples opinions – and welcome you challenging mine, that is what debate is.

I will say i get a little annoyed sometimes at the amazing negativity i sometimes read, and stand by the point i made about not believing everything you read!

I give my opinions on on a regular basis, and welcome anyone telling me i am right or wrong (for the record – i say Eduardo is as good as Villa, so forget him and spend the money on a CH instead – Richards would be my first choice).

Sanctimonious Pedant??? read what that means and tell me that is what i am… :-)

    Jeez….

You wonder why i said people should chill out….

  256. charybdis1966 says:

Odub – I’m only talking about Croydon because the alternative is too depressing – by which I mean AFc ambition/lack theroef and not…Thornton Heath !!

  257. GMR says:

Does anyone know where Wenger actually is at the moment, is he even back doing what he supposed to be or has he got some more pressing advertisements to do for some sponsor!! He’s harder to track down than the Scarlet Pimpernel.

  258. dennisdamenace says:

egunner – I hope you’re sitting down for this mate as…………………..feck all’s happened…………shocking i know, but there it is.

Nasri, apparently got a better offer, so he’s now an 18-30 rep in Faliraki, where he organises under 10′s parties in playing ‘find the fecking pen’ and who to ‘maintain a fecking website’………..

  259. choy says:

you guys need to kiss and make up now.. where’s rico when you need her? ;)

  260. Pedro says:

Did anyone read that our bonds have been downgraded in class? I don’t know what impact that has on anything… but it doesn’t sound good?

So do you think Huntelaar could be on? Or are we looking at agent talk…

I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal were making money from agents using us to boost player profiles! We seem to bleed every other revenue stream dry… why not use agents to your advantage!

Did that monster CM for the dutch move to Schalke in the end? He was a good player…

I know everyone blamed Willy G for the demise of our defence last year… but it was Kolo’s loss of form that cost us.

Willy G was doing ok with Big Phil as far as I can remember?

So… Eduardo will be fit for the pre-season right?

  261. Odub says:

GMR I thought they were back in training today?

  262. charybdis1966 says:

Choy, I would guess Rico’s on the school run at the moment.

  263. GMR says:

Odub, tomorrow apparently or thats what I took it to mean as Ramsey said he was starting pre season training on tuesday!!

  264. tbuzz says:

lol!!I hear that charybdis,Iam sure the blood on you shoes got there just trying to get into bloody sinatras!! From outside, it smelt like cat litter…hence the reason why I asked how you survived “many-times”!! lol
Odub was right about the “granny grabber” bit though. They used to scare me anytime I walked past the place, coming out of the cab with their walking sticks/zimmer frames, wearing leather jackets, make-up on their faces was like it was applied using a shot-gun……….scaaaaaaaaaaarrrrry!!!! lol

  265. Odub says:

Charybdis I see your point…Thornton Heath?!!!!!! Hell no!

Pedro you mean Engelaar, he signed for Schalke b4 the Euros me thinks.

  266. dennisdamenace says:

chary 66 – Feck me, Thornton Heath, my old stomping ground……..

It truly is a sad state of affairs when we gotta talk about Croydon/T Heath to take our minds off of Arsenal…………oh boy!

  267. Paulinho says:

Apparently, according to blogs ‘in the know’, Bischoff was supposed to be completed today. That transfer is another load of tosh.

The one thing funny thing about these protracted transfers is certain blogs looking like complete muppets when they try and reveal exclusive transfer news and nothing happens!

  268. Patrick7 says:

Ethan- I thought you weren’t supposed to slag off other Arsenal supporters on this site. Refering to them as C**TS, even if they support Arsene’s actions doesn’t make them = SPUDS etc.

I support most of AW’s actions though am to say the least dubious about his defensive actions to date, though understood his reasoning last january! I want a taller more positive CB who isn’t just waiting for the 2nd ball or Almunia to claim it!

I don’t believe he said the things referred to in the NotW as many others have stated earlier and we have adequate income from gate money £3M/game to pay off a mere £24M/year debt so have the funds to buy players without selling!

  269. Pedro says:

Odub, I read that he hadn’t signed and he was courting interest from Everton!

What ever happened to Yobo? He was a class act for a bit… we were linked with him for a bit.

  270. choy says:

pedro agree with you there.. phil was doing ok until toure came on and took his place…

we did have our hearts in our mouths at times when phil was playing.. but he did go on a nice little run there uptil Anfield…

almunia kept out jens.. why didn’t he let phil carry on?

eduardo is scheduled to be back for pre season but me thinks he should be ready by september!!

  271. dennisdamenace says:

GMR – AW is on holiday with Samir Nasri…….

  272. top_gooner_stow says:

Did you see the news the other day about Yobo his brother was kidnapped!

  273. ethangunner says:

    DDM

you cant blame him the money is probably better !
, i thought we were just delayed because ben arfa was nasri’s replacement prior to nasri leaving ..

well it looks like ive won 100b :) !

  274. Odub says:

HAs anyone on here got Arsenal TV? Please let me know what you actually get got your dosh? Pre season, training sessions, reserves/yoof games?

Yobo’s brother got kidnapped in Nigeria Pedro, other than that don’t know.

  275. charybdis1966 says:

Well DDM, I can’t justifiably look down on Thornton Heath as I’ve lived in some ruff areas – Thurrock for example.

Ruff maybe, but the people there we’re diamond geezers, to a man.

Bischoff – as i said before who wants a young crock woh can’t even get into the first team for a mid table club in a mediocre league.

Is that the base level of player we’re reduced to hankering after ?

    Oh goody good gum drops.

  276. GMR says:

Pedro, its not really an issue at the moment, Its just Ambac’s rating was hit & that affected all the companies they insure. Arsenal were so clever with those bonds, the only issue would come if they wanted to issue more but they won’t be so its not a problem. Usually the repayment would increase because of the negative rating but Ambac never had that written in so Arsenal don’t have to worry about it!!

  277. dennisdamenace says:

egunner – not quite right fella, Nasri couldn’t leave to go on holiday until Ben Arfa returned the keys to the apartment they timeshare………..

  278. Jason says:

Paulinho, I was thinking the same thing.

There is about 4 blogs who manage to post an exclusive everyday, all with insider knowledge and dates of tranfers. I’ve stopped clicking on them now, it all becomes a tad dreary after a while.

Odub, I am considering taking the plunge. I can work myself into a fit about the kids without having to read the rave reviews. Do we get the whole of preseason? That could justify the £12 or whatever it is.

  279. Pedro says:

    Cheers GMR!

  280. tbuzz says:

Yobo’s brother being kidnapped in Nigeria is a regular thing down there Iam afraid. happens alot especially with oil workers and a ransom s usually negotiated and resolved sooner than later. Sad but true.

  281. Odub says:

Same here Jason, I wouldnt mind watching the youngsters to get a feel for the likes of Freeman , Wilshere and Jay Thomas. Unless it’s only just gone up, I thought the whole Setanta package was £10?

  282. Bud says:

And your point would be Matt????

Sanctimonious Pedant is literally translated as a Holier than Thou Nit Picker or a Self Righteous Cunt…… You are either, you pathetic little turd !

I tried not biting, I really did, and by calling you a SP I was being light hearted, then you go on and on whilst on your pedastal and eventually you have achieved it buddy, you showed your colours as a spotty little twat and made me go all O’dub like !!!!!

  283. charybdis1966 says:

Odub, from what I recall there was a “signing on fee” of £20 for Sultana. Thereafter it was £10/month.

  284. Bud says:

Pedro – Do you fancy Barnet v Arsenal Saturday week?

Got 4 Players Lounge tickets, me, Steve and a Driver at the mo. Could pick you up on the way through?

  285. Paulinho says:

Arse TV is okay, but it needs to shape itself up soon. Hopefully the pre-season will be decent.

The replays are terrible though. They just show the same set of games time and time again. They’ve got some weird obsession with Sunderland at home last year, and the the shoddy displays we served up during our season collapse. They never think outside the box and show interesting games from two years ago or so. It’s always the same old glory games which are good at first but become tiresome after a while.

  286. Odub says:

I’ve just checked their site and all it says is £12.99 per month… thiefing buggers, they’ve increased it!

  287. Pedro says:

Anyone remember Dgob (Boring AKB who comes over here every so often)?

    He just left this…

    ‘Pedro,

This is obviously for you. It only just dawned on me that your intelligence quota is the main issue. I am now satisfied: good luck to you and other spuds’

Dgob… please… stop coming back here! You’ve promised me about 6 times you’d never come back here… and here we are again…

Addiction is a tough thing to get over… why don’t you go back to ACLF or wherever you post… they’ll help you get through this… you can go and post somewhere where they all agree with you, that’ll make you happy…

  288. tbuzz says:

Yeah, thats a name you can forget Pedro, Dgob…he must be on day-release today!

  289. pierre80 says:

    tbuzz, is he Joey Barton?

  290. Matt says:

    Bud,

Thats exactly what i mean… you cant take a little light hearted comment, so you have to resort to name calling.

I am happy to have light hearted banter on here, and debate on all things Arsenal – but you should really grow up before calling people ‘spotty little twats’ and pathetic little turds’.

What a pleasant chap you are.

Odub – i find Arsenal TV OK to be honest – you get all of the reserve games which it is worth getting for alone.

The Setanta package is OK – it has bits and bobs of other sports – boxing and Golf – and the Bundesliga and French leagues if you are that bothered.

  291. Jason says:

Pedro, can you see where he is from?

  292. pierre80 says:

in fact, thats a point, things could be worse, you could support Newcastle! people on here saying don’t buy martins, they’re stuck with him, Barton in prison and now Bin Ladens folks want to buy the club!!! L O effing L

  293. Pedro says:

His two IP addresses say he is from near Harrogate…

  294. Pedro says:

Ok Matt and Bud… can we call it a day on this now.

This is a place of harmony and happiness…!

    Cheers

  295. choy says:

jeez matt.. i read that as t*ts and b**bs!!!!

    lol… i need sleep!!!

  296. tbuzz says:

Pedro, can we put Odub on the job to get rid of Dgob?lol

  297. Odub says:

Cheers Matt, yeah I’ve noticed they’ve got the odd decent boxing match going, plus you get the odd EPL , Scotish, French, dutch and gerrman legue games.

Right, all I need to do is justify it to her indoors, seeing as we already pay 60 odd to Sky…..Wish me luck chaps! lol!

  298. Pedro says:

You could pay Odub in extra strong bottled Guinness! haha!

It’s all a but petty when someone has to come on and call people spuds…

So… no news, no crock signing on… but at least RvP isn’t injured!

I wonder if Ade went back to training today?

You’d imagine Arsene would have to have clear the air talks… imagine the atmosphere!

  299. Matt says:

And a couple of the fights they had involving Calzaghe were not pay per view either – which makes a change!

Sorry Pedro – conversation is now closed as far as i am concerned!

  300. Matt says:

    Training starts tomorrow Pedro… ;-)

  301. top_gooner_stow says:

Bud if Pedro doesn’t fancy it i’ll glady tag along if your obliging I really wanna go to the game!

  302. Bud says:

Take it you’re a no for Barnet then as you didn’t reply?

  303. Bud says:

Training starts Friday according to Sky’s interview with our new Welsh Manc !!!

  304. Odub says:

Probably the best time to sign off!! I dont want blood on my shoes thanks!!:)

    Have a good one fellas!

  305. Pedro says:

Bud I am on for it!

Training started today according to whatever the hell I read?

  306. Pedro says:

    You to Odub!

  307. tbuzz says:

    Yeah, tough crowd Odub!

Iam out too, its started p!ssing down here again…its going to be an adventurous journey home methinks!

    Adios compadrés!! ;)

  308. rico01 says:

Well, Good Afternoon you fine Gentlemen out there, see what happens when the Girlie leaves the camp, theres a fight…. Now both Bud and Matt and anyone else who has a bit of spike in them this fine afternoon, take yourselves off to the naughty corner, collect your toys and put them back in your prams!!!!! ;)

Other than that – guess I have not missed much

    Keep it good Grovers :)

I have authorised to blog for a while – Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

  309. david says:

Did anyone see the where are they now ? on ATV about Steeeeeevie Williams. It was more like Tommy Walsh than the er Tommy Walsh show..
Reserves are good, the interviews with the old players are good, but the adverts get on yer tits,, (they still keep showing Flamini on the Arsenal Opus)..

  310. Pedro says:

    Afternoon Rico!

    It is all sorted now!

No news… which is a shame. Well, other than the fact that Hleb is a certainty to leave now…

    Ade… we’re unsure about.

We’re also unsure about when training starts!

SSN said the 7th last week…

  311. Bud says:

Matt – Am agreeing to a love in, if you stop the patronising…….. there Pedro, I have backed down……… it really fucking hurts !!!!!!!

  312. Pedro says:

Neither of you backed down… you’ve both agreed to let sleeping dogs lie…

Bud, you need to have a word with that training ground ref… he gave us some good gossip at the end of last season.

    We need a blog mole…

  313. charybdis1966 says:

Talking of Moles I had one up till last May – Hoyte’s dad.

  314. Bud says:

Pedro. Will talk next week, but will pick you up en-route. Pre-match meal is at 1.30, but will probably get there for about 12.30 and drain them of their Lager Reserves, so probably pick you up about 11.30…….. no clothes spiders though !!!!!!!!

  315. pierre80 says:

I’m off home now to, will bring my avatar back to the party tomorrow, hopefully there will be some real new then!

  316. pierre80 says:

    *news, can’t frikkin type today!

  317. rico01 says:

Bud / Matt, life is too short… Oh, and so am I

Hi Pedro, I thought the boys were back today, and hoped that would kick start everything off, SSN’s said it was today, lying old buggers!!

Imagine you were Ade, how the heck would you be able to play at THOF now, knowing what stupid, greedy, anal, arrogant, pathetic comments you have made will turn those who once ‘loved’ you really dislike you -

Is he going to be another Anelka and Sulk, leaving the club no choice but to sell, there is no way we as a club afford to put him in the reserves…..

  318. Pedro says:

Bud… you love the shirt spider! Speak to you next week… I’ll make sure I get a ‘ I love Le Grove’ sheet of paper printed out…

    See you later Pierre!

Chary, really? Did he give you any gossip?

Rico… I know what you mean. He could have been loved, but he played his greed card about 2 years to early. Silly boy. He should have spoken to Thierry before he shot his mouth off.

He couldn’t be another Anelka. 8 clubs wouldn’t make the same mistake with him!

  319. choy says:

i think both of them are off…

but wenger’s speech yesterday was crazy if it were true!!!

  320. Patrick7 says:

Don’t speak about moles – I’ve got some chewing up my ‘lawn’ areas currently – they’re an absolute pain! I’ve tried bottles on sticks: vibration; solar powered sonic waves; poison, mole traps, poisonous gasses and still they persist…..so I’ve given up. The only thing they’re good for is providing topsoil for other places!

  321. charybdis1966 says:

Pedro – he did have some useful tit bits – like how TH14 was on the flight home from the CL final. From how he talked it was obvious I knew he wasn’t leaving then.

Anyway off home now – see you later.

PS – he was a Manscum fan so lots of barracking during the season.

  322. Bud says:

Sorry Top-Gooner-Stow, young Pedro has taken the ticket. Will no doubt have plenty of League & Cup games throughout the season if you struggle to get tickets……. although O’dub has first refusal on the Bud-Credit scheme !!!!

  323. Pedro says:

I can’t imagine we are going to struggle to fill seats this year bud!

Plenty of keen grovers ready to buy them up if they are available!

  324. choy says:

i think anelka’s more talented than ade!!

  325. Patrick7 says:

Where do you get this ‘SSN’ info’ from? Is it reliable or like NewsNow?

  326. david says:

Cheers Patrick we have got moles too!!! and we use the hills as top soil but I put my foot down a 10″ hole today so if you do find a answer let us know!!

Sorry about that back to football news… hoping…..

  327. Bud says:

    FROM SKY

Aaron Ramsey has already set his sights on making his Arsenal debut against West Brom on 16th August.

The 17-year-old will report for pre-season training on Friday, along with those members of the squad who did not feature at Euro 2008 or are currently injured.

FRIDAY START FOR PRE-SEASON……. why so late?

  328. Pedro says:

Bud… I think the holidays are staggered for most of them…

Nice to hear Ramsey talking up his chances, but I don’t think he was a regular for Cardiff?

    Patrick… Sky Sports News

  329. Pedro says:

Can anyone think of a good song for… Szombathelyi Haladas. They are our second game of the pre season!

Did you know we are playing Huddersfield? It’s for their centenary.

Also, do you know what they are doing for it?

Selling all their season tickets half price! They shifted nearly all of them… the most they’ve sold since the 80′s and apparently they’ve made the same amount of money as they did last year… after only selling half.

Good thinking you have to say!

  330. Patrick7 says:

Pedro – Thanks for that! Not got it so I’ll have to keep watching this space………

David – The ‘traps’ with the explosive charge can take out the odd one but not all of them I’m told……………more expense. The solar powered ones can drive them off if used as a group and keep moving them but they’re a pain unless you’ve got loads of flowerbeds to plant them in as when you mow the lawn you’ve got to take them up.

Football – where’s our CB or DMF coming from?

  331. TREZE13 says:

Hi guys, anyone here going to the WBA game on the first day of the season?

  332. Patrick7 says:

Do you think Diaby/Song will be tried out by AW before he signs another (hopefully) waiting in the wings. Surely Nordvelt/Djourou aren’t ready for this season?

  333. Wrighty7 says:

    Afternoon Pedro/Geoff and Le Grovers,

    Good post Pedro.

I have to say though regarding PHW’s comments, he says that Ade is staying and Hleb is leaving because Hleb has “clearly stated his intent to leave”

Hasn’t Ade done pretty much the same? He has stated his intent to leave also.

    Sounds like double standards!!!

I also feel a signing is around the corner regarding a wide player after these comments. With Hleb going I reckon the Nazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzri deal maybe concluded or Arshavin will be arriving.

By the way Pedro, do you get a donut called Spike ever leaving comments? He seems to like stirring big time.

  334. Bud says:

The way Hill Wood was talking, the delay on Nasri is because we need to sell Hleb first to get the money…………

  335. Pedro says:

Evening Wrighty, I am sure I’ve had him on at some point! I hope you hit him with a spammer (Spam button… like hammer, but spammer)!

I am getting good vibes regarding Arsh! He seems like the perfect replacement for Hleb! I have only watched him a few times, I think he’d link up nicely with Cesc… especially in a 4-5-1… imagine Arsh joining the front line!

Bud, I truly hope that is not the case… where is all this cash we are earning going? What happened to this cash surplus?

Trez… I’ll be there for sure!

Bud, are you sitting upstairs or down this year?

  336. SFO Gooner says:

    Guys,

I am not sure why wenger made a reference to the 24 million interst payments on the stadium. Just a cursory glance at arsenal’s balance sheet shows a gross profit of over 90 million (if I remember correctly) which can easily cover this.

I do not think selling players is necessary, even though we still do it every year and generate a profit based on player transfers.

That said, I think because of the housing credit crunch(in the US and maybe elsewhere) it might be difficult to sell the highbury flats (most people have only paid a 10 % downpayment) impacting arsenal balance sheet for the next few years.

  337. Bud says:

Club still. Have a spare also. Stuart gave his up, so I bought that as well…….

Let’s see how keen the Grovers are when I ask face value (£110 a game) ?!!!!!

  338. Bud says:

Look, all joking aside. If my company bank account has £100K in it, and to run my company with overheads and wages it takes £30K a month…… it does not mean I have £70K to spend, its my reserve in case things go tits up anywhere…… thats why Arsenal will not spend it if they do not have to, they are buiding up a nice reserve for any bad eventualities so they will survive and not do a Leeds !!!!!

  339. david says:

    Pedro… Huddersfield = Herbert Chapman ..

  340. Wrighty7 says:

I’ve a sneaky feeling that we will be seeing Arshavin in an Arsenal shirt next year. Le Boss has shown that sneaky side when talking about him, throwing an element of doubt and then bigging him up.

He can play off the front man, wide and also could play in the middle when Cesc needs a breather!

    Sign the Russian!!!!!!!!!!

  341. Wrighty7 says:

The only song I can think of at the moment for that team is sung to the bananas in pyjamas song!

Dont ask why! It rymes a little

    “Halada’s in pyjamas……..

    I’m taking my pills……………………

  342. ethangunner says:

    Pedro Says:
    July 7, 2008 at 4:08 pm

well done mate .. thats all ill say ,

    keep it cryptic :)

    So true thou !
im sure there all over there saying how well the season is panning out so far !!!!
just as they planned it !
look on the bright side !
things will be better now they are a year older !

    wrighty love the optimism !

but im sure that is the most well used phrase this arsenal transfer window !
A SIGNING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER !

  343. Bud says:

I won’t even think about trying to top that Wrighty, that truly does deserve to sit out there on its own……. do you have Bupa cover by the way????

  344. Pedro says:

Stewart sacked it this year? Lucky Buds clients then!

David… I forgot about that… I suppose that was the last time they won a trophy! A nice gesture from Arsenal you have to say!

Nice song Wrighty! I have the same feelings about Arsh.

Bud, I don’t know what the bad eventualities would be? I suppose we just have to accept that whatever cash surplus Wenger accrues through transfers… he is never going to spend it. It’s just the way he operates.

Would people be happy with the summer transfers if we bought Arsh and Nasri and kept Ade?

Could we seriously mount a decent challenge?

  345. Pedro says:

Cheers Ethan… the guy is a plank… he is only interested in sugar coated Arsenal news… he was the one who said this,

‘My concern’s not with individuals on any obscure blog but specifically with negativity, xenophobia (albiet unwitting/unconscious at times) and the impact this has on our stadium, players and club.’

Xenophobia impacting at the stadium eh? Maybe the sky digital is a little fuzzy up in Harrogate, but I’ve never noticed that…

Being positive for the sake of it is commendable. If you are like that though, you have to accept being labelled delusional…

Delusion: A delusion is commonly defined as a fixed false belief and is used in everyday language to describe a belief that is either false, fanciful or derived from deception.

No Arsenal fan can take comfort from this summer so far.

  346. MeM says:

Arsenal are more than ok. Trust in Wenger.

    A squad of…

    Almunia/Fabianski/Mannone

    Sagna/Hoyte
    Toure/Senderos/Djourou
    Gallas/Song/Nordveit
    Clichy/Traore

    Walcott/Eboue
    Fabregas/Denilson/Ramsey
DM (Veloso or De La Red)/Diaby/Gilberto
    Nasri/Rosicky

    Van Persie/Vela/Barazite
    Eduardo/Bendtner

Will do very well next season. Thats excluding Hleb and Adebayor without a new striker.

  347. Patrick7 says:

We’re still short of midfield bite and grit with the Flamster gone. I doubt if most could cover that. Kolo might but AW says he hasn’t got the engine…………Yaya? or Gilberto with a different system?

  348. Goofle says:

Arsenal are sorted. Trust in Wenger, not the tabloids.

  349. ethangunner says:

Could we seriously mount a decent challenge?

    NO

we are in for .. much of the same im afraid ..

whilst wenger admits he cant keep his players and the club refuses to spend
on experience , its all more of the same .. predictable stuff
close but no cigar type stuff …

wheres our 3 major signings ?
before flamini – hleb and maybe ade goes?

we wont get 6 top notch players ..
normal clubs would replace them in a heart beat to maintain there stature !
we on the other hand like to test the water every year , with average results !

There is only one solution ! we need a investor ! if it hits you in the face any more
we would be K.O ed !

  350. Wrighty7 says:

Bud, that shits going global mate!

    Platinum in the USA

  351. MeM says:

Ethan, you mean much of the same being at the top of the league and killing off all opponents with ease?

  352. Wrighty7 says:

They won’t insure me Bud, they can’t get strong enough pills!!

    ;)

  353. TREZE13 says:

Apparently 1500 tickets garunteed for red members at every game……………. i dont care if im up all night refreshing my screen a month before a game IM GOIN TO AT LEAST 10 GAMES THIS YEAR. Only got to go to 2 last year, best two days of 2007 though Sevilla and newcastle Champs league and CC we won both times (as im sure you knew). I’d say the sevilla game had the best atmosphere all of us on our feet cheering on the boys then eduardo scored and made it 3-1 (made me 50 quid too). EPIC NIGHT

  354. Pedro says:

MeM mate… that didn’t happen last year?

We lost to the Chav’s, the Mancs and drew a whole bundle…

We blew a 5 point lead with 13 to go.

  355. Patrick7 says:

Mem – Don’t think Traore’s strong enough at LB, maybe as LW; Gallas is better cover.

Agree with Ethan as there’s too much cross-fingers and hope with that squad. We need those 2-3 experienced quality players, not names (necessarily) that AW said he needed several weeks ago!

  356. MeM says:

We blew it. But we had it. Thats the difference. We challenged until the last two games of the season. Whatever you say, we were a win and a draw away from winning the league. Bad luck (I admit all clubs have some) and injuries hit us hard last season. Nobody can doubt that the quality is not there.

  357. MeM says:

Pat – Just putting his somewhere. I didn’t want to say, Gallas here and there, Eboue RM and RB, Diaby DM and LM etc. Just one player per spot with at least two players per position. maybe Pedro will step up?

  358. ethangunner says:

No Arsenal fan can take comfort from this summer so far.

    Precisely !
and anyone who denies it is either a plastic fan or just fucking kidding themselves !
,The board, wenger in the past few seasons have came out with some blatant lies !

We are not in a transitional period – we dont need the yanks money ..
we have 75 million to spend – we will get 2 or 3 world class signings in the next 3weeks
to put the fans minds at ease ?

Should we be worrying any time soon ?
oh … thats right … have faith in wenger .. he’s done us right !!! before???

This club should be trying to win everything on the board !
if you win everything ! you get more followers ! if you get more followers
    you make more money !!
if you go into next season displaying this sort of vigor ! we all know what we can expect !

  359. Wrighty7 says:

Did anyone know that Arsenal “LEGEND” Chris Kiwomya was at Arsenal working as a coach for the reserves?! I didnt

He’s left for Ipswich, taking a role there.

I remember when he was signed in an act of desperation by Georgie boy along side John Hartson!

Memories, I was only a wee kiddie

  360. ethangunner says:

    MeM Says:
    July 7, 2008 at 6:28 pm

Ethan, you mean much of the same being at the top of the league and killing off all opponents with ease?

NO MEM i mean going 11 games straight without winning !
an all time wenger low record !

  361. Patrick7 says:

We might win one competition with that squad with SOME luck and no injuries but certainly won’t be dominant in 4 competitions!

The LUCK bit omitted on this blog I realised the other night was the fact we kept on drawing TOP teams both in CL & FAC whilst the Chavs & ManUre (& Portsmouth) had a relatively easy run.

  362. ethangunner says:

if we killed off all opponents with ease ?
why didnt we win the C.C ?
    or the F.A cup ?

    C.L ? the epl ???!

theres a draft in here ..
and i know where the wind is coming from

    MEM !

  363. MeM says:

Ethan, try to understand football past the idea that signing a player will win you a trophy. Sometimes you lose by bad luck, sometimes its lack of quality, sometimes it is injuries, sometimes it is a small squad. If we did sign Villa, Richards, Boruc or whoever there is no guarantee that we would win the league. We could do worse than this season just gone.

  364. MeM says:

Only one club can win each competition. We only take twos seriousley (although I think that the FA Cup will be more of an objective next season) so that meant that realistically we had to win the PL or the CL to have a trophy.

If United did not win any trophies last season would you say that their squad was not good enough? All it took was for Terry to score that penalty and for the referee to have a big enough brain to see Clichy winning the ball in the area against birmingham rather than giving a penalty.

  365. MeM says:

http://le-grove.co.uk/page/17/ – Look at the posts around this time. Arsenal were the greatest. We were unbeatable. You loved them. Untouchable we all thought. Now what? We cannot challenge at all? Give me a break.

  366. ethangunner says:

signings like deco – anelka – ballack ..

    chelsea ain’t stupid .. thats experience ..
Blend them with some 24 -27 year olds 2 or 3 youthful players and you have a great team mix…

wenger is dead right .. all the shite players stay at AFC and all his good ones leave !
he cannot hang on to them .. we will do well to keep cesc 2 more seasons .. the rumors are constant and wont stop ! Our club is close to crisis !

No one at the club is thinking forward enough , or even as far as’ this season ‘
even ! we are all just crossing our fingers that the premature youth will all turn good
and make it … maybe they will !
but its not a cast iron plan by any stretch !
i would go as far as saying its frightening !

i honestly thought ! when i drove home today that nasri would be in the number 8 shirt
and we would have at least another signing … !!!

    yes i was wrong !!

  367. choy says:

i fancy traore as a left winger… we won’t win anything if 3 players left and three come in…

we needed additions to the squad and we haven’t even bought replacements!!!!!

  368. patthegooner says:

    Welcome back Ethan

    How was your trip

Yep another quiet week on the transfer front, in fact the only Arsenal news was more negatvie news.

What is worse is that the Board are not going to listen to the fans at all and keep the Togotwat despite him basically laughing in the face of every Arsenal fan.

Its not a crisis just yet, but it is very concerning

  371. GMR says:

Wrighty7- I saw that prick Spike’s comment on your blog this morning slagging off yourself & le-grove. I also saw your comment telling him to go away, unfortunately though those idiots will continue on & on forever!! Oh well, I suppose you can always hope one day they will grow up.

  372. Pedro says:

MeM… your comments were in moderation… I am back now.

Debate away, but don’t start telling me or the Grovers how to support a team.

    Regarding the challenging…

We’ve lost Hleb, Flamini and probably Ade.

We played out of our socks last year then capitulated… what has improved?

This summer has seen us go backwards so far.

  373. AndyB says:

    dont panic pedro!

there is no way we wont replace hleb, that I am certain. Besides weve got cover for him in Eboue………..joke!
looks like ade might be stayin, (personally i think we should get rid), so he had better have an absolute blinder. Not too worried if he does go and we dont replace, as long as there is money in the pot in january ready for when RVP etc. have their customary 5 month break. We have enough fire power up front, we just need 1 or 2 in the middle and cover for the big sulky baby that is gallas

  374. Wrighty7 says:

    GMR,

He always tries to large it mate.

I don’t think he has ever agreed with anything I’ve written. I don’t mind that but he never writes a constructive comment just spills his venom!

The muppet always slags my site and Le Grove, that comment he made yesterday made me laugh, I felt sorry for him, it must get lonely in that cage of his.

  375. patthegooner says:

    FFS

If this is true, shall we just enter the Premier Youth League next year and be done with it

    http://arsenalanalysis.blogspot.com/2008/07/arsenal-decide-to-transfer-midfielder.html

  376. Pedro says:

    Wrighty, if I don’t like a site, I don’t click the link!

Doesn’t it make you wonder if it is someone with an agenda?

£1.5mill for a world cup winning midfielder who is 31? Great business Arsenal…

Andy, got any suggestions for a back up centre back?

I’d like Ade to stay, but not if he is going to be a sulky cunt…

  377. chris says:

pat i hope for sentimental sakes, that its not true,

  378. david says:

Some good news! Liverpool and Portsmouth have agreed a fee for Crouch..

  379. GMR says:

Wrighty7, thats one of the reasons I was so happy to have found this site. I knew what Geoff was like having had debates with him on East Lower, however that site got taken over by the mindless morons & now he gets relatively few comments. As you said its ok disagreeing with whats written but at least come up with a counter argument, just to come on & slag people off is just cowardly. If people could easily find your actual address from your IP address those idiots would disappear as quickly as they appear, either that or internet cafe’s would get a lot busier!!

  380. GMR says:

I don’t watch ‘Doctor Who’ but apparently a mobile number for the Doctor was shown in the last episode & something like 2500 people tried ringing it actually believing they would speak to the actor who plays him (or maybe they think there is a Doctor Who), obviously as the line was actually dead & only used for program purposes they complained to Ofcom about the fact it may cost them the price of a phonecall.

    Some people are so thick!!

  381. Wrighty7 says:

    Too right Pedro and GMR,

    I’m off for the night.

    Keep it Goonerish………….

  382. Trinidad_Gunner says:

Van der Vaart told Dutch weekly Sportweek: “The interest has been there for some time already, but they (Tottenham) are not the club I want to go to. Tottenham are not a club I want to swap Hamburg for.

“The chance that I will stay at HSV is really big. As long as no team comes by which makes me immediately excited, I see no reason to leave. And so far none of those clubs have called us.”

  383. choy says:

i’ll miss hleb’s fancy footwork though!!!

  384. Pedro says:

    Night Wrighty!

Chris, Gilberto’s treatment has been extremely shoddy…

    We’re once again haemorrhaging experience…

He is a world cup and prem winner!

We wont sign a replacement either… lets hope the brit pack are going to be ready soon!

  385. AndyB says:

Pedro – Richards or ferdinand (Anton, not that manc tosspot), even Ledley King, we need s good English boy in there, not some poof who sulks on the halfway line! (having said that I did nearly break my phone, tv remote, tv, the mrs and the dog when they got that pen, but hey, thats why I’m not the captain of Arsenal!)
And yes if Ade starts being a sulky cunt, we should stick him in the reserves till he retires, which by all accounts isnt too far away!

  386. patthegooner says:

All I can say is that I do not begrudge Gilberto this move at all,

He has been an excellent professional at Arsenal in a time when the likes of TT25 treat the club and fans like dirt. Gilberto deserves this final pay day and good luck to him.

I just pray we replace him, the thought of Diaby and Denilson being considered 1st team regular in that position scares the shit out of me.

Again if this is true and we dont replace with a top quality CM player, I dread to imagine the consequences.

  387. choy says:

gilberto has been a true professional… an arsenal legend.. he saved our asses last season!!!

  388. choy says:

    I mean the 06-07 season!!

  389. TJ says:

My first ever post on the famous Le-grove….AW’s shrewd, dont be surprised if he’s negotiated a “first option” deal with that greek wonderkid everyone’s after by allowing Panathinaikos to take Gilberto off us

  390. AndyB says:

I agree pat Gilberto is a legend at the Arsenal. I do think Diaby is almost ready though, just needs a run in the team. Having said that Gareth Barry would be ideal if we could hijack his move to liverpool

  391. Pedro says:

    Welcome aboard TJ.

Andy… not Anton! He is rubbish! West ham are trying to flog him! Bad attitude… street brawler and a bit rubbish.

Richards… well, the jury is out. But not interest from the big 4 so far this year?

Pat… if Berto goes… do we have any over 30′s?

Maybe gallas and Almunia? That says something doesn’t it…

  392. choy says:

    lol TJ.. not another kid!!!

  393. Abdenor says:

Evening …. Lets face it guys , Gilberto’s legs are gone, I wish him all the best if it’s true but he is past it and his departure makes a lot of sense, he was abysmal last season and played in most of the hammering we took in the cups + vs Boro & Newcastle away in the prem!

If he does indeed leave then i expect a high profile name to arrive ….. Yaya, Barry or Veloso me thinks .

  394. patthegooner says:

I dont think we do actually

The problem with Diaby is he is as prone to giving the ball away and making mistakes as some say Senderos is.

Sorry if you want to win either of the Premiership or the CL, you dont do it by considering Diaby as your defensive CM. It is too important a position to carry someone in.

  395. patthegooner says:

Oh yeah Gallas is 30 and Almunia is 31

    and

Adebayor is 47 (Come on I am only joking)

  396. AndyB says:

Pedro – street brawler he may be, but rubbish he is not. Under wenger he would shine, and imagine the effort he’d put in to get one over his twat faced brother in the league, fa cup, CL, fuck me even the ferdinand v ferdinand thing on soccer AM! I think he would be good and he would cost fuck all!

  397. TJ says:

Lol….u know its the Wenger way choy…

    Cheers Pedro

  398. Abdenor says:

I second that AndyB….. I rate Anton and reckon would do a decent job for us.

People use to laugh at Rio’s defending at West Ham but look at him now….

  399. AndyB says:

fair point pat but i still think its just a confidence thing, I think he will suprise a few this season.

  400. patthegooner says:

I dont rate Anton at all

He would also cost about 8m, I think he worth more like 2m

The only way we will get a CB is if he buys Veloso as he can play in both positions

  401. patthegooner says:

Or if he spots a 13 year old Afghan sheep farmer kicking cows heads around

  402. choy says:

don’t think anton would be such a great idea… he spends more time tying up his hair.. we need a no-nonsense centreback like vidic or skrtel…

just get the job done types….

  403. patthegooner says:

Thing is, until his injury I thought Diaby looked the business, but since he came back he has really dissapointed me

  404. AndyB says:

Anyway, we should of bought Hargreeves when we had the chance a few years ago, he was cheap before the world cup too

  405. choy says:

    diaby is hardly defensive…!!!

  406. chris says:

    this guy TJ?

Arsene Wenger is looking to steal a march on his opposite number by securing the services of Greek prodigy Demetris Christofi.

The 19-year-old striker currently plays for Greek outfit Omonoia after moving from ENP FC for a domestic record fee of £800,000

  407. AndyB says:

yes choy, not like our right back who dosn’t care what his hair looks like!

  408. chris says:

diaby is still inured currently, i hope he is paddy mrk2 when fit,

  409. choy says:

lol andy b… we need an essien .. ok too much dreaming ….

  410. AndyB says:

choy – I have to admit vidic and skrtle are class.

  411. patthegooner says:

Thats why I am concerned choy,

Nor is Denilson really, he is too slight to be a commanding tough tackling CM player.

We needed to buy one before Gilberto was linked to leave, now we really need one if he goes.

Maybe he is thinking of converting Vito Mannone into a Defensive Midfielder. I bet it would be a better success than turning Eboue into a RM

  412. steve pires says:

Would it be possible to close down the caughtoffside for writing outrageous bullshit?

  413. chris says:

How to solve a problem like Eboue

    http://www.clubfanzine.com/arsenal/v2.showNews.php?id=11778&loc=1

“Eboue was mildly irritating when he played at full-back but his lack of a football brain, and arguably any brain whatsoever”

  414. Abdenor says:

Anton would not be my first choice but he is certainly an option, his performances dipped last season after the court situation but was brilliant before then.

He was one the best CB around when West Ham got promoted and reached the FA cup final…. he was even included in the Germany 06 “28 man squad”……. .

….. a fresh start would do him good i reckon but we defo need a new defender.

  415. AndyB says:

sorry i dont like essien, think it is all those nasty leg breaking tackles he has a liking for……….. Oh yeah and he’s a chav cock

  416. choy says:

haha.. wenger and defenders do not go together.. he has given us the best forwards the PL has seen but his defenders aren’t much to talk about..!!

an italian or a eastern european defender is what we need!!

  417. chris says:

isnt it ironic that AW was a defender choy

  418. TREZE13 says:

O.k something just really pissed me off, my mate who i’ve always doubted his loyalty to arsenal has just BOUGHT A MAN.U SHIT……….(shirt) BASTARD.

CANT STAND GLORY HUNTERS, THIS IS THE SAME GUY WHO LAST SEASON WAS TELLING ME I AM NOT A TRUE FAN BECAUSE I MISSED MotD ONE NIGHT FUCK!!!!!!!!! :@ i am not a happy bunny right now……….

  419. AndyB says:

Think we’d be better off getting Paul Daniels to turn Eboue into a gazzelle with no football skill………….. oh too late

  420. chris says:

    treze, thats tought to swallow

  421. Pedro says:

I know hammers fans are not the best judges when it comes to players… but they all assure me Anton is not good enough.

He has moved in down the road from me… shall I go and ask him now?

Andy, I don’t think Hargreaves was ever cheap!

Skrtel was brilliant when he played against us… a quality player… all over the place.

Chris… Christofi? Where did you read that? It sounds disappointing… and not in an Eduardo/Sagna kind of way… at least those two ticked the quality boxes!

  422. chris says:

    *tough

  423. AndyB says:

well said abdenor, bit of guidance from AW and he’d be back up there

  424. choy says:

don’t tell me he was a CB chris!!!

treze13… how did you let that happen mate!!! don’t tell me it is a CR7 shirt!!!

  425. Pedro says:

Treze… cut him out your life… he is the type of bloke who will try and nick your girlfriend… no scrupples…

  426. chris says:

some might say ‘failed” centre back choy,

  427. AndyB says:

pedro – £8m we could have got him for

  428. chris says:

oh no choy imagine being associated with a turn coat manu fan whom wares a ronaldo shirt, id actualy kill him

  429. TREZE13 says:

I dunno how it happened im gutted though i actually brought him to Arsenal vs. Toon last season lil bastard didnt even sing……… Well guess whos gonna get a good kickin tomorrow at skl. Naa its not CR7 its WOLFMAN!!!! might even be worse

  430. choy says:

o lord chris.. instead of buying all these teenstars why couldn’t the money have gone in keeping flamini and ade and hleb…these teenage sensations will become famous and leave when they are 25!!!!

  431. TREZE13 says:

wolfman = tevez for those who don’t know.

an dont worry Pedro after i kick the living shit out of him tomorrow im not even gunna aknowledge the little traitor

  432. chris says:

but as we have alluded to mention even clichy recognises that arsenal are a great club for young players to learn before trying different challenges, we know what he means, by teh way choy i forgot to ask where have you been ,

  433. Abdenor says:

Haha….. wolfman…lol, got that one right matey

  434. Paulinho says:

I thought Van Der Vaart was shite in the euros. He does nothing for me at all as a footballer. Good shot, that’s about it.

  435. choy says:

chris i was out on a mini vacation… seaside.. have you heard of a place called GOA?

it was pretty ok.. but you can’t really enjoy yourself when all you think about is who we’ve sold or signed ;)

  436. AndyB says:

Treze – track him down, steal his shirt, poo in it, then post it back. Repeat this every time it has been washed or renewed. Its the only language these people understand

  437. TJ says:

Yo Chris….Sotiris Ninis is his name. Think of every big club in european football….well they all want him (apparently). There’s clips of him on youtube too….

  438. Pedro says:

    Paulinho… did he even play?

  439. TREZE13 says:

Lol andy b. I was thinking more along the lines of post him anthrax………….but yeah i guess your method would knock a few years off the prison sentence

  440. TJ says:

Hahaha…what if United decide NOT to buy Tevez permanently? Then what? Hahahaha

  441. AndyB says:

just eat a jar of jalapenos before you poo. its better than anthrax

  442. TREZE13 says:

Then TJ he will have a shirt of a one season player that will be covered in none other than the finest……… POO POO!!!!!! (trying not to swear i think i got through my maximum allowance with the last few posts.

  443. Pedro says:

So is Ramsey serious about starting the first Prem game?

Surely Arsene didn’t tell him he’d be competing in the first team that early!

  444. chris says:

did you hear about the irish guy who got killed at the bull run in spain…………..
    he fell off a wall,

  445. chris says:

    GOA?

yeah i have, there was a type of dance music called goa, its somewhere i want to go someday,

  446. Pedro says:

30p for a bottle of beer!

It has to be on the to-do list!

  447. AndyB says:

pedro – did ramsey say that? or was it in the NOTW/ sunday sport?

  448. choy says:

    have you been there pedro?

yes converting your pounds into rupees .. you guys will have a blast!!!

  449. TJ says:

Maybe he did Pedro…otherwise why would Ramsey say that. High hopes? Maybe he knows something we dont. Tell the truth guys….when last season began with Flamini playing centre mid with Cesc, who envisaged that in the summer?

  450. AndyB says:

dont belive it pedro, I read that it was 50p a bottle in Romania but when we got there it was more like £2 (£25 in some of the clubs we went to)

  451. Pedro says:

No I haven’t Choy… I’d to see India! Have you been (Goa)?

  452. choy says:

andy b.. i paid 40 rupees for a beer.. that is approx half pound…

in clubs it will be be a pound minimum.. but on the beach side … 50p maximum…

  453. choy says:

just got back from there pedro.. wanted some blue sea water but the arabian sea has only dark green sea water!!!

  454. Pedro says:

TJ… Diarra said similar things… that is why I am worried.

    Selective hearing!

Andy… I went to Poland think that I would have the same issues as you…

‘Oh you can pick up a beer for a quid’

Only to find out it is like Czech Rep… expensive.

But Poland was really cheap… a round of 3 drinks was about £3.50 even in the swanky bars. Krakow was really good value and the food was amazing.

I am shocked about Romania though?

  455. AndyB says:

lets hope the UCL is in India next season then

  456. Pedro says:

    So you’d recommend their Choy?

It looks amazing on the TV…

  457. choy says:

haha.. how much do you guys pay for a beer in england then?

  458. AndyB says:

so was I pedro, mind you there were semi naked girls in all the bars we went to, although not in the hotel and that was £4 a pint! and all they sold at the ground were warm cups of coke and fucking sunflower seeds!

  459. AndyB says:

    choy – £2.50 – 3.50

  460. AndyB says:

    more in clubs etc.

  461. Pedro says:

Choy, £3.50 for a pint in a normal bar… I was in Mayfair a few months ago and they wanted £9 a bud! That is a bottle… mental!

Andy… so you were out there for the Football! Do you go out for many away games?

  462. choy says:

it is strictly ok.. a lot of people from all over the world… nothing high class and all that.. but if you’re on a low budget.. you’ll have fun!!!

met this english couple who had opened up a small cafe.. beef stew and butter roll… mmmm!!!

  463. stevie says:

Another day another dollar earnt, but no dollars spent by us, arrggh! But Im staying positive, gotta have patience whilst all those around you panic no matter how frustrating it is!

  464. Pedro says:

Stevie… too much noise coming out of Arsenal this week for something not to happen…

    Keep em’ crossed!

  465. choy says:

hmmm.. at fancy places we pay similar charges… but if you buy it at the supermarket.. it works out really cheap!!!

  466. AndyB says:

Pedro – yes last seasons UCL, won it in the NOTW, 2 tickets, on the team plane, 5 star hotel, the works! But alas I have 2 young kids, so no I dont get to others. When they are older I will or if the mrs fucks off

  467. choy says:

yes pedro.. looks like this will be the week.. have you guys met any arsenal players? and no not eboue!! lol…

  468. AndyB says:

But the checkout girls are not dancing on the tills in their underwear in the supermarket choy!

  469. choy says:

    haha andy b… true true!!

  470. Pedro says:

I did when I was younger courtesy of my old man having a box, which was pretty lucky. Lately the only footballers I have met would be John Terry in Faces and Ray Parlour in a dirty little bar I care not to mention!

Teddy Sheringham and a few west ham players… but you said footballers right?

  471. Pedro says:

Andy, that sounds like a pretty special prize!

  472. choy says:

pedro .. lol.. what about henry or fabregas or clichy ?

  473. AndyB says:

    Yes Pedro, fantastic.
Choy – I met Paul Merson if Frankie and Bennys in Watford

  474. Pedro says:

    No, not yet!

We saw Clichy outside the bar we were in last year… £90k range rover with 3 birds in it. What a boy! haha! He looked like a kid driving!

One of my friends reckons he is going to get some Arsenal players down to the opening of a bar… so I’m keeping them crossed!

  475. AndyB says:

Oh and my mrs sat on the next table to GG, at some charity do…….. she didnt know who he was though till someone told her

  476. Paulinho says:

I think Van Der Vaart did play in every game. Was so poor though that most people probably forget he was playing.

  477. choy says:

o ok.. and monsieur wenger anyone?

  478. Pierre80 says:

fuck me wot an evening that was!!! I live in sheffield and have family etc, etc, so don’t often get to games, in fact first game i got lines up is a free pass to the reebok come end of september courtesy (how do you spell courtesy?) of a company i deal with, by then with the fixtures we got, we’ll be 10 pts cleat at the top of the league!!!

  479. AndyB says:

I was only 10 seats behind all of them on the plane to romania, but we wern’t allowed to speak to them.
Had I of known what I know now I’d of given Hleb and Ade a slap! and Flamoney for that matter

  480. Pierre80 says:

spellin mistake on previous sign in name, oops!!!

  481. AndyB says:

Pierre – either that or all our players over 10 will be injured and we will have to forefit the game!

  482. Pedro says:

    I’m off now Grovers!

    Till tomorrow!

    Have a good night…!

  483. AndyB says:

Pierre – sorry, what an evening what was?

  484. AndyB says:

    Later Pedro!

  485. choy says:

so do you guys think ade will stay?

  486. choy says:

    nite pedro!

  487. AndyB says:

I hope he goes. No room in the team for players who think they are better than everyone else. I mean £120k a week, as good as TH14, what planet is he on? Im not going to bang on about it but hes not fit to lace the great TH14s boots.

  488. AndyB says:

    Anyway, Im off now.
Perhaps there will be some more positive news to chat about tomorrow.

  489. choy says:

yup m off too… nite all!!

  490. Rico01 says:

    SSN’s – I love this ;)

Holland international midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has ruled out a move to Spurs.

The Hamburg playmaker – believed to be a target for several sides – says Tottenham ‘are not the club I want to go to’.

    Nite Grovers :)

  491. Seeca says:

Can somebody please give Hill-Wood another bottle of single malt and lock him back in the board room.

  492. ethangunner says:

    pat

yes mate , i wont comment on the ‘actual trip’ as most of it was rated triple XXX,
but i can tell you the drive up to bangkok was stressful yet adrenaline pumped!loud music , a real boys road trip !!!
and the drive home i was just fantasizing about who we bought in the transfer market .. I stayed away from the bangkok post and all things news so i could get over loaded with arsenal news that i missed out on for several days upon my return!..

seems i dont know why i bothered !

Cant help but say i told you so about gilberto !
Its a shame AFC dont have the same ruthlessness when it comes to eboue or even gallas recently ! But with limited playing time last season the writing was on the wall and shouldn’t be a shock to anyone …

I certainly expected it !!! and its all part of the plan to make our club operate on 100 quid a week ! …

    treze,
don’t worry about your mate , im sure anyone else other than die hard fans will soon become turn coats also! people do like winners ! and its obvious we are not displaying the killer instinct to compete ! its something ive commented on before , about displaying a winning mentality ,uping the ante to compete by spending a bit to get more fans on board !

You have stupid AKB fans who ooze faith and remember a long forgotten era
and hope that it will return 1day ! rather like cultists .. and you have die hard fans
like us who are extremely disappointed in the clubs progress for the past 3-4 seasons and realize we are trying to run in quicksand ..
AFC are not displaying the killer instincts needed for victory in the EPL !
all the other fans can and will be converted and move on !

we are not recruiting players for this season , yet lose our better players
to other clubs willing to pay good wages to our star players to tempt them away. Its a disaster ! and its almost a crisis !

whilst this mentality is in progress, AFC will be nothing more than a bit part addition to the EPL !
good…. but not good enough !

do you really blame fans for not supporting us ????????
    i mean really ????

frustrating times are ahead being an arsenal supporter !
no signings …. management filling us with promises that aren’t coming true!
its all very worrying ! and unprofessional
share lock downs as the board is running scared over being taken over !! and sacking key board members , Once they fall out of favor !
wenger coming out and stating we will lose our best players for the next 17 years ! money issues ! money lies like 75 million transfer kitties !

we will not operate well next season with the likes of diaby-eboue-senderos-song-denilson-ade , all fucking very average players.
definitely not players that should be relied upon to win titles !
sure 1 or 2 might shine in time !

but shouldn’t we already be running at top gear after 4 seasons of rebuilding ?

  493. A says:

ethan – you say we’re gonna lose our better players but not bring anyone in, then you mention ade as an average player, which is it?! denilson and diaby are also certainly not average, incredibly talented players who just had a hard time last season. We’ve currently only lost flamini, who twelve months ago most of us wanted to get rid of anyways, and who is very easily replaceable.

Some fickle fans don’t seem to understand the way things work. Arsenal don’t have the spending power of Chelsea and Utd (yet), and therefore the way we compete and stay at the top is by buying players who are raw, and young, and therefore cheaper, then developing the players into some of the best players in the world. For the success of the invincibles etc to happen, it meant that we had to pay top wages to keep the likes of Vieira, Henry, Pires, whilst they were the best players in the world, and therefore once that generation was gone, we had to start early again, there was always going to be a period of regeneration and development. We now have Sagna, Clichy, Fabregas, Walcott, Vela, Bendtner, Van Persie who are all some of the top young players in Europe, and have got to a point where they’re at a level to dominate the premiership again. Add to that Denilson, Diaby, Fabianski, Eduardo, Nasri, who also could all be amongst the best players in their respective positions in Europe and our future looks very rosy in terms of the young players, who look ready to cross the line between potential and the realisation of being top players. Not to mention Toure, Gallas, Rosicky, Hleb, who despite having difficult times at points last season have all been considered amongst the best players in Europe in the past, and still have years left in them.

It’s easy to see how the young players have developed and matured in their performances, as well as the team as a whole, it’s factual in terms of the points totals in the premiership. I’m certain we’ll be very very close to dominating everything next season, we were absolutely incredible at times last season, and we’ll be much better this season just due to the team’s age and maturity.

  494. noel reynolds says:

fuck me ivejust read hleb’s “exclusive2 in the sun. somebody please give me a ring in a year’s time when i stop laughing.

  495. A says:

that really is the most ridiculous article ever! i dunno where they got the attacking wenger quotes from, i’d imagine they’re probably completely made up, and how is the cesc thing attacking him in any way?! i really can’t stand the anti-arsenal agenda in the tabloids, its ridiculous

  496. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Hey A & Noel, is that along the same lines as this?

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1392828.ece

  497. Paulinho says:

It’s bullshit. He probably complimented Fabregas with that quote more than anything.

He didn’t say anything disrespectful and just confirmed what we all knew. No big deal.

  498. Paulinho says:

Denilson incredibly talented? Incredibly talented at doing sweet fa in my book. He can switch play well enough but then so can any professional footballer. He’s rank average and the sooner Wenger gets his head out of his arse and realises that the better.

Diaby is talented but lacks motivation and intensity.

  499. gnarleygeorge9 says:

When it comes to The Arsenal it does appear that the English press carry on as if they begrudge the club. Its is now becoming all too clear to me during this transfer window that any comment/quote to do with Arsenal, gets twisted by some journo to create shit.

  500. gnarleygeorge9 says:

…….the Australian way to deal with the knockers (not the ones in Pierre’s avatar) is to shove it right back up where the sun doesn’t shine, by WINNING!!!

N.B The MCC carry on like pompus old farts to the Aussie cricketers, so in return Aussie cricketers come out a win The Ashes. Its been the same for 131 years.

  501. gnarleygeorge9 says:

……the times when the Wallabies haven’t shown respect to the All Blacks during the Harkka, i.e the time our boys turned their back on them during it, the All Blacks belted the Wallabies on the scoreboard.

  502. gnarleygeorge9 says:

……so @ the moment the English press is sticking the big size 14 boot into The Arsenal, so let all gooners whallow in the pleasure of seeing the cunts squirm when we take The Title @ manure. Oh!!!! How sweet it is :D

  503. ethangunner says:

    A

we have lost reyes-TH14-Freddie -pires-PV4- Flamini – Hleb soon !
    and many more !!!!
also constantly tested in the media and by spain about Cesc !
    you are kidding right ?

None have been replaced ! 3 of them wingers ..
and if you say ade replaced TH14 ill laugh so hard ill probly cough up my intestines !

if you put your faith in diaby etc .. then i pity you ..
your either a man of faith ! or a total looney !

but in a professional team like AFC , i would never go in half cocked !
the stadium generates more money than any other EPL team, therefore it has
loaning capacity, the board just doesnt want to get into debt because they want the club to be worth a mint FOR RE-SALE prior to the end of the wenger era ! ! at the sake of ruining our football stature !

and as a fan that is hard to take !

  504. AFC53 says:

Alton Towers who the f*ck needs it we have more ups and downs than any of there rollercoasters.

I cant believe we have turned down a bid like that for Ade after all hes had one good season which so many strikers have look at Martins,Drogba,Berbatov,

We made exactly the same mistake with TH14 held onto him a season too long and then only got 16m for him when the season before he was worth double.

As for Hleb hes mad his position impossible to come back talk about burning bridges where has all the loyalty gone??????

  505. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Hello Old Blighty, (Arsenal Section). Has Gilberto left?

  506. Patrick7 says:

Gnarley – If he goes to the Greek club for a pittance, a normal AW move now, it means he’s been offered a decent contract to keep him playing for a few years – Didn’t PV get a 5 year one? There’s also the possibil;ity it will favour us for the kid we want from them.

This move would also show that AW sees the CMF as the position of importance for us to stop the high balls coming in and tighten up our defence rather than disturb Gallas (this season!) so expect a really talented player there – Yaya for Hleb might be a possibility!

  507. Patrick7 says:

I get the impression that Nordvelt will be challenging Gallas by next season and WG will be the age to be outed then and a captain might be available then: possibly Cesc but might be a newcomer brought in this season?

  508. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Cheers P7, So there are rumblings, about a move for him to Greece. If he goes, I wish him well. I saw a couple of Grovers mention it, but there was nothing on newsnow, etc.

  509. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I reckon its inevitable that Cesc will be Captain, or at the very least be offered the position.

  510. Patrick7 says:

It’s on NewsNow this end posted 19.37 last night by Arsenal Analysis.

  511. Pedro says:

    Morning Grovers!

That Hleb interview looks pretty similar to the one we posted last week!

I am surprised he said that about Hleb… but I guess that is the only way you get a move… act a cunt…

    Oh well, roll on Arshavin!

  512. Patrick7 says:

Agreed Pedro! Good morning also or in present company should it be G’Day?

  513. Patrick7 says:

    1st – well it’s worth a try!

  514. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Patrick, beware, the whiley Rico is most likely stalking the no.1 spot.

  515. Pedro says:

That reminds me… I am working from home today, I must set my alarm for home and away… Australia is the greatest place in the world…

If only English women looked that good…

So, three things I am pissed off about today:

    Berto being sold (If true)
    Hleb slagging Cesc off
    Negative Arsenal PR as usual

  516. SIMON MCAHON says:

hleb please pack up you horse and cart and fuck off comarade!!!!!!!
cant wait to see you become the latest victim of the arsenal – barca ,curse .
    arsehole………………..

  517. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Pedro, the only thing good about “home & away” is the location. Palm Beach. In fact that whole norhern beaches down to say Freshwater is sensational.

  518. Pedro says:

Gnarley… have you seen the women?

  519. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Yes, some are little cutties :P but @ first I thought you were taking the piss

  520. Pedro says:

    New Post!

  521. Patrick7 says:

    Where? I can’t see it 8minutes later.
