Adios to Ade, bienvenido to new superstar! Captaincy Change?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Barca have apparently increased their offer for want-a-way, mentally ill and deluded footballer Adebayor, if this is true then I expect the revolving door will will begin revolving, Ade out, Eto’o in, why? I think Wenger has had enough and he has always admired Eto’o (He publicly stated that he was tempted to sign him last year), with so many forwards at Arsenal, fitness may not be such an issue as he could rotate them.

Fot those of you that say Ade would be a huge loss, let’s not forget how many times last season he went missing and we said he should have been dropped, much the same as the previous season with Henry.

Did anyone notice Cesc as the centre piece in the new kit picture yesterday? I wonder if that means he’ll be captain next season? I’ll go for that, I think it would secure him at the club and I think he’ll grow into it and flourish.

Santa Cruz is also a possibility and I’m not anti that either, Eto’o is the big name though, we could never have afforded him 2 years ago, how can Barca value Ade at £30million? Take their money Arsenal, they’re mugs! But sign Eto’o first, otherwise the price will go up, same with Santa Cruz.

I think we’ll keep Hleb and sign Nasri, but we still need another and I would favour a winger, and he would be Silva.

What I would really like is a centre back and you Grovers keep asking for Richards, but we won’t sign one so forget it.

It’s the only thing that Mr ‘ditherer’ was firm on, ‘ I won’t sign a center back, you can print that’ so I really would be surprised, I suspect this seasons out of position center back will be Song, so expect this conversation to rear its ugly head again in December!

This is the last day we have to make a signing until Monday, so keep ‘em crossed, it may happen, once the Ade business has happened one way or the other, things will move, but please boss, sign his replacement first this time.

Happy Friday Grovers.

Two aliens landed in the Arizona desert near a gas station that was closed for the night. They approached one of the gas pumps and the younger alien addressed it saying, ‘Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader.’
The gas pump, of course, didn’t respond.
The younger alien became angry at the lack of response.
The older alien said, ‘I’d calm down if I were you.’
The younger alien ignored the warning and repeated his greeting. Again, there was no response.

Annoyed by what he perceived to be the pump’s haughty attitude, he drew his ray gun and said impatiently, ‘Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Do not ignore us this way! Take us to your leader or I will fire!’
The older alien again warned his comrade saying, ‘You probably don’t want to do that! I really don’t think you should make him mad.’
‘Rubbish,’ replied the cocky, young alien. He aimed his weapon at the pump and opened fire. There was a huge explosion. A massive fireball roared towards them and blew the younger alien off his feet and deposited him a burnt, smoking mess about 200 yards away in a cactus patch.

Half an hour passed. When he finally regained consciousness, he refocused his three eyes, straightened his bent antenna, and looked dazedly at the older, wiser alien who was standing over him shaking his big, green head.
‘What a ferocious creature!’ exclaimed the young, fried alien. ‘He damn near killed me! How did you know he was so dangerous?’
The older alien leaned over, placed a friendly feeler on his crispy friend and replied,
‘If there’s one thing I’ve learned during my intergalactic travels, you don’t want to mess with a guy who can loop his penis over his shoulder twice and then stick it in his ear’

While attending a marriage seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor,
“It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other.”
He addressed the men, “Can you describe your wife’s favourite flower?”
Tom, smiling but looking a little nervous, leaned over, touched his wife’s arm gently and whispered, “It’s self-raising, isn’t it?

Chris, I’ll check tonight, but I’ll guess my lap top will be the best bet. I can’t remember the software that uses for DVD viewing – PowerDVD ?

    Thanks in advance though.

  4. chris

ah yeah the laptop will be perfect, i have no shortage of blank disks so dont worry about that, i have gone though the 4 seasons and i like it a lot, different but so much deeper, i am sure pedro wont mind passing your post or email details to me if you what to email him,

  5. Odub

Goonerjay what did you have for breakfact?!! Bloody hell 4 top jokes in a row!! lol!!

Chary, I’ll give him a shout! What makes you think he’s on here btw?

  6. AFC53

Ade out it may soon be my early christmas present if he doesnt go he has made his position impossible here so has Hleb.

Not sure aboue Eto’o though I think I would prefer Huntellar or even someone like Owen!

    With Silva,Veloso & Albiol.

  7. Odub

So who reports for pre season on Monday?

Is it the whole squad bar Cesc? If so Ade needs to either be out the door, or report back. I know which option I’m hoping for….

  8. charybdis1966

Chris, from what little I’ve seen I’ve shied away from it because it seems a lot darker than classic BS. And of course the castration of my avatar pic (although I must be having wordpress log in problems as my avatar doesn’t show much nowadays).

    What’s Pedro’s email address ?

  9. Odub

Geoff, season ticket holders and club membership holders. So seeing as most of us on here are one or both, and didnt vote…… I cant answer your question Geoff!!! lol!

  10. chris

any of the three at the very top.
dirk did have a point chary, but there is SO much detail in this one plus teh orginal apollo is in it and this time he is of questionable character.

  11. charybdis1966

Chris, yeah I knew Richard Hatch did appear as a villain of some sort and a lot of Classic BS fans turned on him for doing that. Never mind, I’ll always think he created a classic character in Apollo and he fleshed a real persona from a vague outline given to him by Glen Larson.

Rico 01 – it wasnt fair – You promised last night wont be trying for No1 this morning and will give a chance to Grovers.

Andrei Arshavin last night flew in from Russia to sign for Chelsea.

Barcelona matched Chelsea’s £12million offer – but Blues owner Roman Abramovich intervened personally to sign Arshavin.

Mirror Sport revealed yesterday how Abramovich even went to the Russian team hotel during the Euros to persuade the Zenit St Petersburg playmaker to join his side.

It is the oil tycoon’s dream to have a fellow Russian playing in the Chelsea first team – and he persuaded Arshavin that he would be better suited to the Premier League than Spain.

AdvertisementArshavin, 27, and his agent Pavel Andreev met with Zenit yesterday to tell them officially he wanted to leave and to be allowed to activate the £12m buy-out clause in his contract.

And with more than one club bidding it could have turned into an auction.

Yet despite Ashavin saying it was his dream to play for Barca, a Zenit spokesman said last night: “Andrei never rejected the idea of moving to Chelsea.

“The Chelsea managers know the situation and have already talked to his agent.”

Chelsea veteran Claude Makelele, 35, despite signing a new contract, was yesterday having talks with Paris Saint Germain.

And the Blues also released Argentine World Cup star Hernan Crespo, 33 tomorrow, after signing him for £16.8m in 2003.

  14. Arsenaldo

30milllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllliooooooons- BIte it Wenger . That would be the deal of the decade if you do it . Dont want to happen the same thing like with PV04 and TH14. MIlan were offering 25mil pounds for him , we said -no ,and the next year -half the ammount . Same with HEnry – 30 mil then 16.5- ridiculous. Ade will go anyway sooner or later, so better get the top money and ruuuuuuuuun!
We have to make ourselves heard. I doubt Ade is reading this blog , so I guess doesnt know he is unwanted by the majority of the fans . We are too quiet. Villa fans doesnt want Barry and everybody knows this. I havent seen anything on the papers about us not liking Ade. Can we do it somehow?

  15. Odub

Na mate! Forgot Emmanuel Adebayor!! I bet he thinks he should be in the top 5 Arsenal players of all time! Seeing as he did score 30 goals last season!

  16. dennisdamenace

Greetings to everyone, even you mug AKBers out there.

The sun is shining, it’s almost Friday lunchtime cheeky time, and the Togo Tosser is off for 30 Biguns, feck me that sangria’s powerful stuff……

  17. Ray Gooner

I’ve heard of Santa Cruz, Eto’o, Huntelaar & others to replace Adebayor but for me the best choice would be Daniel Guiza!

He scored 27 goals in the spanish league (and was the top scorer in the league by the way), and not one of the goals were on penalty! And also he played in a mid-table team (Mallorca)…
    That for me is impressing!
He also scored a couple of goals in the Euro’s and both I believe were created by Cesc so they would work fine together in Arsenal as well…
So if Ade leaves then i’d go for Guiza in a heartbeat!

And i also believe Arsenal should demand Yaya Touré + money for Adebayor!

My starting 11 for next season would be:

    Almunia
    Sagna – Kolo – Gallas – Clichy
    Walcott – Yaya – Cesc – Nasri
    van Persie – Guiza

    Back-up Team:

    Fabianski
    Hoyte – Djourou – Senderos – Traoré
    Hleb – Gilberto – Diaby – Rosicky
    Eduardo – Bendtner

    And 2nd Back-up Team:

    Mannone
    Gilbert – Nordtveit – Song – G.Hoyte
    Ramsey – Denìlson – Merida – Randall
    Barazite – Vela

Notice that i didn’t put Eboué in there cause i can’t fit him in really…
Walcott, Hleb & Ramsey i’d play in head of Eboué for the right-wing position any day of the week…
Maybe i’d put him before Gilbert as 2nd replacement for the right-back position but, well…nah,
    sorry mate…

  18. Geoff

Arsenaldo he does read this, all Arsenal players do but he admits he reads all the blogs, the thick greedy , talentless cunt couldn’t resist could he if he saw his name up.

  19. Pierre

I was kidding with the Cygan suggestion! Althought at sheffield united v gunners in FA cup replay a couple of seasons ago the fans were loving him when he had a shot on target. At the end of that game they were loving the touquay waiter after we won on pens, worth freezing my bollocks off that game was!

  20. GMR

Odub, no I wasn’t joking. I think a top 6 finish is realistic with the squad we have. Rafa won’t be so stupid as to rest Torres & co this season & I really think the spuds will step up. Its even possible Everton could be the team to knock us out the top 4.

Pedro, your argument was based on if’s. If Ade & Hleb stay, if someone steps up to replace Flamini. Gilberto is a backwards step & whilst I think Diaby has immense potential I think it’ll take more than one season for him to get to the required level.

I wish I could look at the squad like you lot & see great times ahead but I just don’t. Its filled with inexperienced youth that have proven nothing in their careers, hell they couldn’t even win the academy league or youth cup. When you have a person like Steve Bould training the youngsters & drilling it into their heads that the result is unimportant as long as their performance looks good, then something is seriously wrong!! They should have a winning mentality not a ‘it doesn’t matter’ mentality.

  21. Arsenaldo

Hope your right Geoff, and we dont love you Adeeeeeeee, and never will, no matter how many goals you score from now on.We all know you need love because your so sensitive “kid from the street”, but you wont get it here. So piss of and go play with your friend TH!

  22. Odub

So let me get this straight. in the centre of the park next season, the chavs will have
Lumpard, Ballack, Obi Mikel, Essien, Deco, Arshavin, Ronaldinho? and might offload Makelele and Sidwell?

    Howerer…………………

We’ve got Cesc Fabregas, we’ve got Cesc Fabregas!!!

That’s all we need bring it!!!!

  23. Ray Gooner

I kept Hleb in the team, but only as back-up for Walcott! I did this only because if Hleb left and we bought in a replacement for him (say David Silva or someone like him) then maybe Walcott wouldn’t get as much playing time and that for me would be unacceptable!
This is gonna be Theo’s season to shine!

  24. Bud

Going back a bit to poss top 10, i’d have my favourite Robert Pires in my top 5 all day long……….. LEGEND !!!!!

  25. gnarleygeorge9

………. & Bud, I bet the girls loved him too. He was a great player when @ Arsenal. I hated seeing him on the bench during that Champions League Final. Its not the right way for a bloke like him to finish @ The Club.

  26. tbuzz

There’s an Englishman, Irishman, and Scotsman all talking about their teenage daughters.

The Englishman says: ” I was cleaning my daughter’s room the other day & I found a packet of cigarettes. I was really shocked as I didn’t even know she smokes!

The Scotsman says: “That’s nothing. I was cleaning my daughter’s room the other days when I found a half full bottle of Vodka. I was really shocked as I didn’t even know she drank!”

With that the Irishman says: “Both of you have got nothing to worry about. I was cleaning my daughter’s room the other day when I found a packet of condoms. I was really shocked. I didn’t even know she had a willy!”

  27. dennisdamenace

Hey! Maybe we should organise a Le Grove farewell bash for the Togo Tosser to wish him all the best in his new role as Messi’s boot cleaner!

I’m happy to get the proceedings off to a flying start with my fellow gooner and brother on the Tatershall Castle on the Thames this afternoon with a few cheekies and some cheerie ramblings………

  28. Ray Gooner

But if you ask me, the most important player next season will be van Persie!
If he stays fit this time he will score the same amount as Adebayor did (i have no doubt about this at all) and if Adebayor leaves or not doesn’t matter, if he stays he will score some 20-30 goals again and if he leaves and we get a replacement in (like Guiza/Santa Cruz or Eto’o) he will also score!
And don’t forget we also have Walcott, Eduardo, Vela & Bendtner!
I’m not worried at all about our striking force weather or not Adebayor stays or leaves!
My only worry is the defensive midfielder position…
We must get Yaya Touré or someone like him cause for me Gilberto isn’t as good anymore and Song or Diaby (or any other youngster) isn’t ready to manage that role yet…
So this Adebayor & Hleb gossip doesn’t bother me at all, they can stay or go, i don’t care!
We have (and if Ade leaves will get) enough up front, and we already have Nasri for Hleb (and Walcott & Vela to step up).
I’m rambling now but most important for me is finding a defensive midfielder and van Persie staying fit!

The LAPD, The FBI, and the CIA are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals. The President gets tired of the bickering and decides to give them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest and each of them has to catch it.

The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations they conclude that rabbits do not exist.

The FBI goes in. After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit, and they make no apologies. The rabbit had it coming.

The LAPD goes in. They come out two hours later with a badly beaten bear, who is yelling: “Okay! Okay! I’m a rabbit! I’m a rabbit!

  30. Odub

I still got it wrong Dennis wtf!! He was 07 wasnt he Pires!!! Ah yeah Wiltord was 11 in those days!! Ah well it’s friday! I need a drink!

  31. gnarleygeorge9

DDM, The Tatershall Castle, thats a boat moared on the Thames @ the Embankment right. When I lived in London, me & my Aussie & Zim mates used to get shit faced on it most Friday nights after work. I can’t believe its still a part of the Central London drinking schene.

  32. Ray Gooner

    Notice one thing though:
Before last season everyone was saying Arsenal couldn’t cope with losing Thierry Henry, and that Arsenal would have trouble staying in the top 4…
Well, we all know what happened!
Ok, we didn’t win it but we were only 4 points behind the winners in the end and were miles ahead of 5th spot!

This season some are saying that if we lose our top scorer again, we will have trouble…
Well, if we could manage without a legend (Henry), then surely we can manage without a Gready Bastard….

  33. Pedro

If I had been on holiday for a month and asked you all to sum up the last month, you could confidently say 4 things…

    Ramsey
    Nasri
    Hleb
    Ade

That is all the news we’ve had… !

We’ve done well to keep the conversation Arsenal 24/7 for that long!

    Well played everyone! haha!

  34. GMR

The players reacted to losing Henry though as they wanted to prove they could play without him. Losing Ade won’t have the same effect on them.

  35. Odub

Ray Gooner anyone saying we’ll struggle with out Adebarndoor is having a laugh!!!

If everyone else starts chipping in we’ll be fine!

Fine TH14 used to give us 30 odd a season, but we also used to get 30+ between Freddie and RP07, and a few from DB10 and Wiltord, as well as the odd beltlers from Romford Pele and PV04

    We’ll be fine!

  36. dennisdamenace

Odub – Forshame on you young man, getting Bobby mixed up with Silvervan Driver (!)

We’ve had some rather special 07′s playing for us down the years Liam, Rocky, Bobby………boy we’ve been spoilt……

  37. Arsenal Tom

its been a struggle pedro!!! im hoping for a friday afternoon signing to get the weekend off to a good start

  38. dennisdamenace

gg9 – You’re right fella, just outside Embankment Tube, still a good venue to start the evening off on a sunny day, still gets heaving. I used to go there when they use to run a seriously cheesy ‘disco’ downstairs too, oh dear, full of snooty office birds, hilarious watching them pissed, trying to dance with the boat bobbing up and down…..happy days!

  39. Arsenal Tom

Emmanuel Adebayor’s agent has declared that the Arsenal striker is still pondering his next move, with Barcelona reported to be ready to step up their interest.

The Togo international committed himself to The Gunners during a press conference a week ago, before then telling reporters he was still to made up his mind regarding his future.

His representative has declared that a decision has not been taken yet by the Togolese giant, with Arsenal fans still waiting to know if Adebayor will remain their hero next year, or if he will become a villain in a different shirt.

“At the moment, nothing’s decided,” Stephane Courbis told France-Football.
“Neither in a direction, nor in another one.
“We don’t communicate for the moment because too many things have been written.”

Reports in Spain claim that the African star has decided he will reunite with Thierry Henry at Camp Nou, while Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani reckons his club have been priced out.

  40. Ray Gooner

If you look at this for a fact:

    Goalkeepers:
Lehmann out (never played anyway) – Mannone steps up and we’re covered with 3 goalies!
    Same status as last Season.

    Defenders:
No one leaving – everyone a year older and more experienced.
    Better status than last leason.

    Midfielders:
Flamini out and maybe Hleb out – Nasri in (for Hleb), Ramsey in, Vela in and Rosicky hopefully more fit. That only leaves replacement for Flamini, but i’m sure Wenger will find one.
Say he does find one and then the status will be even better than last season.

    Strikers:
Maybe Adebayor out – even if we don’t get a replacement we will be stronger i think (though Wenger will surely get someone if Ade goes). van Persie (who didn’t play much), Eduardo (who also got injured), Bendtner (who’s still young & improving) and Walcott (that in the last 2 months of last season were starting to find the form) will all get better!
So the status will be much stronger!

Only gap to fill is defensive midfielder and maybe one striker if Adebayor leaves…

  41. finestcuts

If Wenger wants an in form striker with Premier League experience and arial ability, it’s got to be Santa Cruz.
If he wants a technically skilled route 1 striker with an accurate first touch and plenty of previous good form it’s Huntelaar.
David Villa is undoubtedly red hot, any of those 3 would be an improvement over Adebayor.

  42. Odub

Bastin’s been on Bud, not sure about Drake, and so has Romford Pele, and get this…. Kanu and Cashley got voted higher!!!!!!!!

  43. Ray Gooner

GMR, the players stepped up to prove they could do without Henry you said, but the player that stepped up in Henry’s place were Adebayor, right!?
So if we lose him many people will be saying the same old things again that Arsenal can’t manage without him…(i’m not saying that) but i know many will…
My point was, if the team could manage without a legend then they can manage without “you know who”….

  44. Pedro

Ray… no one will say how will we manage without Ade, becuase he is the second best striker at the club… and in my opinion, he will probably get eclipsed by Eduardo this season.

  45. patthegooner

His representative has declared that a decision has not been taken yet by the Togolese giant, with Arsenal fans still waiting to know if Adebayor will remain their hero next year, or if he will become a villain in a different shirt.

I bet they cant find 100 gooners at the moment that will call Adebayor their Hero.

And since when did it become his decision, I will help you ade, we dont fucking want you, I have more respect for jermaine Jenas than you, you fucking jumped up prick. I would rather they play the tea lady up front next season than see you grace the hallowed turf.

Seriously does anyone live close enough to the stadium and training ground to get a big king size white sheet in view of the directors, manager and staff saying

PLEASE GET RID OF THE TOGOTWAT, WE DONT WANT HIM AT ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB UNLESS HE CLEANING THE SHITTERS, P.S. SPEND SOME FUCKING MONEY, WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF THINGS TO TALK ABOUT

  46. Odub

    RVP – 20+
    Dudu – 10+
    Bendtner – 15
    Theo – 10
    Vela – 10
    Ade replacement – 10+

With another 20-25 from mdfield, and 10 from defenders, and 5 from the goalie (I’m kidding ;) )

    Who needs Ade?!!

  47. Arsenal Tom

daniel guiza is a gamble… its his first good year, and he’s 27, and publicly known… not very wengerish

  48. Ray Gooner

    Arsenal:
Sanir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey, Carlos Vela…
    Chelsea:
    José Bosingwa, Deco…
    Liverpool:
    Philipp Degen…
    Man United:
    Manucho…

That’s all new players so far!

    Arsenal:
    Jens Lehmann, Mathieu Flamini…
    Chelsea:
    Harry Worley…
    Liverpool:
    Harry Kewell, John Arne Riise…
    Man United:
    Kieran Lee…

That’s all Players that has gone so far!

Not much has happened in any of the big 4 clubs…

The summer is still very young…

  49. Arsenaldo

LOL … . PTG- agree with all you said- I will donate my kingsize white bed sheets for the idea.

  50. ArsenalKenya

    Huntelaar or santa Cruz .

ETO’O – NO WAY COZ HE MAY BE A BIG NAME BUT FULL OF EGO AND WILL OFCOURSE DEMAND 120,000 POUNDS PER WEEK.

I thought Nasri and the Amaury guy were to be unveiled today……

Does any one have the latest news on Arsenal…………….?????????

  51. patthegooner

    To be honest Ray

I am not really bothered about what the others are doing, and in the case of Chelsea and Manure they are probably already strong enough to mount a challenge

It is our short-falls that I am concerned about and it and so far we have not addressed them.

I know the window is open for another 8 weeks, but every day that goes by after pre-season has started is another day into the actual season where players coming in are still adjusting.

  52. Ray Gooner

How many of the 30 goals Adebayor scored did he create himself….?
    Not that many!
And the creators are still there!
I’ll say it again, the most important thing is that van Persie stays fit!
He can both create and score!
And with another striker (almost anyone for that matter) can bag the same amount of goals that Adebayor did if given the chances on a silver plate that he got! (even Eboué)…

  53. Jason

Mr Ray Gooner, you struggle to follow a thread old boy! It’s like you are talking to yourself sometimes.

Odub I agree with your assessment there, nobody is going to miss Ade except barca. They are going to miss what it was like without him. I can’t wait to read the spanish websites taking him to pieces.

Santa Cruz is a super player, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up gentlemen. He probably wont leave. If he does, it is time for Bendtner to step up and back up some of his statements.

Roll on the new season, roll on Barnet.

We can watch that on Setanta, correct?

  54. Ray Gooner

Man United and Chelsea will also lose players this summer, have no doubt!

Lampard, Drogba & Shevchenko will surely leave…
And still hoping for Ronaldo to go to Real Madrid…(that would be a bigger blow than any other team have faced before…)

  55. Jason

I read this somewhere else chaps, fyi:

Sat Aug 16 12.45pm Sky – Arsenal v West Brom
    Sat Aug 23 5.15pm Setanta – Fulham v Arsenal
    Sat Sep 20 12.45pm Sky – Bolton v Arsenal
    Sat Oct 18 12.45pm Sky – Arsenal v Everton
Sun Oct 26 2.00pm Sky – Everton v Man Utd (West Ham v Arsenal if blocked by police)
    Wed Oct 29 8.00pm Sky – Arsenal v Tottenham

  56. Odub

Jason, you get used to him after a while! ;) !!!

Arsenaldo, I’d stick one of those on each round about withing a 1 mile radius London Colney and the Emirates! Hope they get the mesage then!

  57. BOY BETTER KNOW

?? ARE ARSENAL TOO GOOD TO DROP OUT THE TOP FOUR THIS SEASON ?? VIEWS AND OPINIONS WELCOME PLEASE

  58. Jason

No problem Ray, you have a lot to say, I just think you should channel it into the ongoing topic.

Dr Whiff, Nasri makes Hleb look like a body builder. I hope he like the rought and tumble of the premiership because if he doesn’t, he is in for a shock!

    Caps lock Boy Better know!

Arsenal wont drop out of the top 4, the only team in danger of that is Liverpool.

  59. Ray Gooner

oh yes Pedro, i have new ones, but they’re not that interesting since the season is yet far away…

  60. Ray Gooner

i can say this though, there’s only one season in which Wenger has managed the team that he didn’t buy another French player to the club…

  61. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

10 sodding days for Nasri….oh piss off, you fly back from holidays to sign for Arsenal you mug

  62. Pedro

I hope you are an analyst in real life Ray…

    You’d be wasted as plumber!

Evo… if he is young, inexperienced and cheap… we should sign him!

2 weeks till our first game! Get in!

    Nasri:

“He is on his holidays. It (the transfer) will be made when he will be back, in about 10 days,”

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

  63. Odub

Ok, either this kid’s taking the piss or the press are having a bubble!

Either way whether or not Sami Nasri joins AFC is now of absolutely no interest to me what so ever!

  64. Ray Gooner

    Robin van Persie’s Scoring:

    2004/2005:
    10 Goals in 41 Games
    2005/2006:
    11 Goals in 38 Games
    2006/2007:
    13 Goals in 31 Games
    2007/2008:
    9 Goals in 23 Games

    He’s improving goals/game…
But he’s playing less and less…
So once again, most important he stays fit!

  65. Pedro

Same here Odub… I really don’t care either way about the midget. If he really was the next day surely there would be more than one club interested?

    We’ll see…

I am more excited about Ramsey… have you seen his youtube vid? He is an aggressive little bastard!

Just what we need… a bit of steel…!

  66. Ray Gooner

Fábregas will be playing his 200th game when Arsenal take on West Brom in the League premier!
I hope he plays until he reaches 500 games, at least…

  67. Odub

Ok Ray, those were 2 sets of stats that I found useful!

Pedro, have heard loads about Rambo and seen clips, if we get 10+ years from the bugger he’ll defo be a legend with Cesc in the middle!

  68. Ray Gooner

the player in Arsenal’s squad that has played most games (146) without scoring is Clichy!?!

It’s really strange that he hasn’t scored yet…

I mean, all our full-backs over the years has scored, but not him, and in my mind he is one of Arsenal’s best full-backs ever!

  69. James

afternoon grovers. nice to see le grove ticking along nicely without a hint a news, just recycled stories!

evo in oz…if marcos senna is worth 25m then ade at 30m? the world is mad but we could benefit…but hopefully it wont be spent on senna, good as he is..

  70. Shivers

ooo calling me that from the other side if the tinterweb, how very risque.

Im not as internet savvy as you it would seem so please dont jump to conclusions

  71. Ray Gooner

To become a legend at Arsenal you’d have to be part of winning something, right? (except for Cesc of course, he’s already a legend anyway).
But only other player to have that status is Kolo Touré for me.

  72. Odub

Shivers we aint like that on here mate, all one big happy family! :)

See, Pat’s cleared that up already, and yes Pat, my positivity is waning bit by bit!!

  73. Pedro

    Well said Odub.

I am feeling ok about the new season. We’re no worse yet? Ok… the flamster was good last year, but remember how good Berto was the year before? Diaby could be a monster of a player…

He wont have finished yet either (I pray).

I can’t wait to see Randall and Barazite… Randall really excites me for some reason?

  74. patthegooner

Basically you can add whatever you like to the end bit after title=

    http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=first+team&article=492628&lid=&Title=

It is the Article ID that is important

    So you could have

    http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=first+team&article=492628&lid=&Title=Messi+signs+for+Leyton+Orient

But you will always come to the same content on the page, it is just that some people get the wrong idea and think that it is the Arsenal.com Web desiginers that are getting the page ready.

  75. Ray Gooner

Many of the best Arsenal signings usually are made later…
    Patrick Vieira (August 14th 1996)
    Fredrik Ljungberg (September 12th 1998)
    Thierry Henry (August 3rd 1999)
    Sylvain Wiltord (August 26th 2000)
    Gilberto Silva (August 8th 2002)
    Jens Lehmann (July 26th 2003)
    Gaël Clichy (August 4th 2003)
    Mathieu Flamini (July 23rd 2004)
    Alexander Hleb (July 12th 2005)
    William Gallas (August 31 2006)
    Bacary Sagna (July 12th 2007)

    And it’s only July 4th now…

  76. Odub

    Pedro,

I just dont thin Diaby’s got the discipline to play that role. He does make the odd rash tackle (Bolton last season case in point) plus he bombs forward a lot.

  77. Ray Gooner

with that last stat i’m signing off…
the summer will be very long, and i think we will get some surprises along the way…(mostly possitive i hope!)

  78. Odub

    Honestly all,

Looking at Ray’s list of signings, which ones did you get mega excited about when the deal was confirmed?

  79. Geoff

Yes Ray but given that the last star player we signed was TH14 9 years ago, you can see why we’re gagging

  80. Pedro

He has immature lapses of concentration… but would you not agree that he has more raw talent that the Flamster?

I remember thinking flamini was the best player for coming on after 60 mins then getting booked…

  81. Odub

Seen some comments re Ade from some Barca fans online ….Not very complimentary!

Ho Hum! We’ll have the 30 large now please!

  82. Odub

    Really Pedro?

Thierry yes, but I remember when Freddie arrived I’d never heard of the guy! and then he goes and scores on his debut V the mancs of course!!

Where’s Pires on the list? Sol was a late one as well wasnt he?

  83. Ray Gooner

Odub, which Arsenal signings did you get excited about EVER! (from Wenger) if you look at it that way…?
Even Henry when he came were not that well known…

  84. Ray Gooner

    Pires & Campbell were both signed on July 3rd (2000 & 2001)
That’s one day before this date, right!
I only took those signings that were made after today’s date…

  85. Pedro

    Actually… scrap those 2!

    SOL CAMPBELL! Good shout Odub!

Freddie was exciting because we all watched him ruin England didn’t we?

Lobbing the dane in his first game!

Was that the same game Thierry scored that wonder goal?

  86. ArsenalKenya

Samir Nasri’s agent has promised Arsenal fans the France international will sign in “about 10 days’ time”.

Nasri is currently on holiday following France’s disastrous Euro 2008 campaign in which he played a bit-part role from the bench.

The player revealed on his official website at the end of France’s campaign that he had signed for Arsenal, only for Marseille to deny the transfer had been completed.

Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of Nasri’s services, and will pay a reported £16 million to lure the 21-year-old to North London.

“He is on his holidays. It (the transfer) will be made when he gets back, in about 10 days,” said agent Jean-Pierre Bernes.

Nasri’s arrival is likely to catalyze Alexander Hleb’s departure from Emirates Stadium, with Barcelona ready to snap up the Belarusian.

Meanwhile, Arsenal youth team prospect Daniel Boateng has pledged his international future to Ghana, rather than England.

The 15-year-old defender had reportedly attracted interest from the England youth setup but he is keen to play for the country of his parents’ birth.

  87. Ray Gooner

Henry came one year later than Freddie, and that wonder goal came in the 2000/2001 season!
Overmars were signed June 16th 1997…
and to get it out before anyone says anything, Cesc was signed July 1st 2003, (as anyone knew who he was…lol)

  88. patthegooner

Was talking about Overmars in reply to the which Arsenal signings did you get excited about EVER! (from Wenger) post

I think Overmars is probably the biggest name that Arsene has ever signed for us (at time of signing)

  89. patthegooner

Oh god, it had to come, it really is deja vu summer all over again

The belief comment has come again

‘I feel the togetherness is there, the desire is there, and the quality is there. They have very good ingredients. We have done extremely well’

He has obviously done an interview somewhere, how come the chicken shit press dont ask him what went wrong with his 2-3 week statement, and does he think the fans are reassured with the signing of Ramsey.

  90. Ray Gooner

For me the only players that has excited me when signed was Overmars, Freddie (since i’m Swedish), Pirés
Campbell & Rosicky (cause he’d been one of my favourite players for years before he came here)!

But there were a few well known players that weren’t that exciting like Davor Suker for instance…

  91. Odub

Yeah defo Overmars! Top signing at the time, I nearly wet myself when we signed DB10, but that was a Rioch job.

  92. Pedro

Sorry to be vulgar, but I can see how people find our site via google.

Someone found our site by typing this:

‘videos on how to fuck a cup’

Who wants to know that… and how did Le Grove show up!

  93. chris

pat might confirm this but the more internal links you have the higher up goole ranking you are,

plus odub swear a lot so the more fucks per page the easier google find you
