So Hleb’s agent has been flirting outrageously with Real Madrid. If this was a real life situation and your wife was doing this, you’d pack her bags for her.
Apparently he can pick up wages of £100k a week in Madrid, a number that would send Arsene Wenger spinning… not to mention a majority of the Arsenal fans.
However, reading around the comment sections of Le Grove and some other sites it seems there is a resignation to the fact that footballers need to maximise their earnings and it is ok if Hleb wants to disappear off to Madrid.
We need to respect his wishes.
To that, I say bollocks.
Hleb is wildly richer than a majority of Arsenal fans. He earns, at the moment, about £17k more than the average person earns in a year… a week.
Arsenal are rumoured to be offering him an extra £20k on top of that… that’s £37k more than the average person earns in a year, he would now earn a week.
Pretty grotesque right? Do you know who pays for Hlebs monstrous salary?
You.
Every time you subscribe to sky, renew your season ticket, buy a shirt, buy a product you saw on Setanta or buy a £4 beer at Arsenal… you contribute.
So, seen as it is you the supporter who is paying for his luxury lifestyle, is it not fair to expect a little loyalty? After all, we have received very little return on our investment over 3 years. Would he have still been getting games at Chelsea, Madrid or Milan if he’d played like he did in his early days? No way… he’d be on the scrap heap along with players like Saviola, Gilardino and Pizzaro.
Why do so many Arsenal fans respect the financial wishes of a footballer who earned his millions doing something he was genetically gifted to do…?
If they have so much respect for Hlebs wishes, why can’t they respect a fan who has worked hard enough to be able to purchase a club level ticket… or shell out on a box?
I have more respect for a person who has worked their bollocks off to achieve their wealth than for some spoilt footballer who has been lucky enough to be born with a talent for a game we all adore.
So excuse me for not respecting Hlebs wishes. You got rich off the back of clubs fleecing the fans… how long the fans will tolerate this is anyone’s guess. At some point, the bubble will burst, and I can’t wait.

Maybe Hleb isn`t an excellent player but still he is one of 2-3 best players in Arsenal. And if he leaves the team will have big problems especially because his leave will make Cesk frustrate for they are friends (and don`t forget that Flaminy has already left). And due to that stupid wages structure club won`t be able to attract world class players. Consider all these factors and next season you will see: midfielders will play much worse and unprodactive and Arsenal won`t win any titles again. Change Club owners` minds
See my point Chris?!! cant even spell for ! Drunk as a skunk he is!!
No one had ever heard of manchester until bloody Coronation street, and no one had heard of bloody liverpool before the Beatles. And as for spurs, my dog can’t remember when they last won the league coz my dog is only 47 years old. And as for Madrid, Barcelona, Milan & Turin & couldn’t give a XXXX about them. ……..and its Arsenal. Arsenal F C, where by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen.
…….Gee, it didn’t take you IT blokes long. Love the new funnies. And its good night from me, & its good night from Captain Morgan.
lol!! Night GG, coronation street ha ha!!
whats happened to the arsenal fans forum on arsenal tv anybody?
George…. you been drinking mate?
A little boy was excited about his first day at school.
So excited in fact, that only a few minutes after class
started, he realized that he desperately needed to go to
the bathroom. So he raised his hand politely to ask if
he could be excused. Of course the teacher said yes, but
asked him to be quick.
Five minutes later he returned, looking more desperate
and embarrassed. “I can’t find it”, he admitted.
The teacher sat him down and drew him a little diagram
to where he should go and asked him if he will be able
to find it now. The boy looked at the diagram, said “yes”
and goes on his way.
Five minutes later he returned to the class room and says
to the teacher “I can’t find it”.
Frustrated, the teacher asked Jon, a boy who has been at
the school for awhile, to help him find the bathroom.
So two fellas go together and five minutes later they
both return and sit down at their seats. The teacher asks
Jon, “Well, did you find it?”
Jon is quick with his reply: “Oh sure, he just had his
boxer shorts on backwards”
Two blonde girls were working for the city public works department.
One would dig a hole and the other would follow behind her and fill the hole in.
They worked up one side of the street, then down the other, then moved on to the next street.
Working furiously all day without rest, one girl digging a hole, the other girl filling it in again.
An onlooker was amazed at their hard work, but couldn’t understand what they were doing.
So he asked the hole digger, ‘I’m impressed by the effort you two are putting in to your work,
But I don’t get it — why do you dig a hole, only to have your partner follow behind and fill it up again?’
The hole digger wiped her brow and sighed, ‘Well, I suppose it probably looks odd because we’re normally
A three-person team. But today the girl who plants the trees called in sick.’
Look Goonerjay, yes I have. Its Friday night, why not. the OZ just whipped Ghanas arse 1-0, & I just thought I’d catch up with all the transfer news. I read Pedro’s Post (sounds like a mexican tabloid) & thought I’d give my 20 cents worth. Its time Hleb went, there is no way he can continue @ Arsenal. he can be replaced, by some one who doesn’t sook as much.
Stupid, I recall the ATV fans forum was concluded after the last game of the season, as are the “Arsenal today” bulletins I think.
Sadly I missed your appearance on the last one; kids/other 1/2 usually have a monopoly on the sky remote.
very bad taste but i only copied it from the bbc,
again very bad taste
Sing a song of Chelsea and how they lost the cup,
They took the game to penalties and Terry stuffed it up,
The team all looked like Avram,
The players were so glum,
But I haven’t laughed so much since Lampard lost his mum.
…….over & out.
Haha… fair play George… LOL… mexican tabloid, i like it
charybdis 2 words…..sky multi-room, havent argued with the missus in months!!! lol

Addendum:
That idiot was standing over my shoulder while I wrote the report
sent to you earlier today. Kindly re-read only the odd numbered
lines.
Well, I only get to watch TV once the boys have been dispatched to bed – which is usually my task. By then I’ve lost the first hour of Fans Forum.
Sorry to be a bit slow, but I set up my word press account about 2 hours ago and my avatar still hasn’t changed. How long does it normally take ?
it’ll be up tomorrow mate. gets updated overnight.
Cheers Odub, Chris’ll groan when he sees what the avatar is.
No worries mate,
let me guess, is there some kind of mention/reference to your love of latex/lycra/pvc highlighted in said avatar?!
This guy goes into a doctors and says “Doctor, doctor you’ve gotta help
me. I just can’t stop having sex!”
“Well how often do you have it?” the doctor asks. “Well, twice a day I
have sex with my wife, TWICE a day”, he answers back.
“That’s not so much”, says the doctor. “Yes, but thats not all. Twice a
day I have sex with my secretary, TWICE a day,” replies the man.
“Well that is probably a bit excessive,” says the doctor. “Yes, but
thats not all. Twice a day I have sex with a prostitute, TWICE a day,”
says the man. “Well, that’s definitely to much”, says the doctor.
“You’ve got to learn to take yourself in hand.” “I do”, says the man.
“Twice a day.”
Ah no, it’s worse than that – it’s a certain ’70s Sci-fi TV series.
goonerjay on form as usual!! lol
charybdis i know where you’re going with that one, i’ll say no more!!
i think we should dress hleb up.. give him an ice cream and put him on a pedestal… and start the bids…
cnut
A wise choice, sir.
Lack of Arsenal news today is pretty pants.
Think i might close newsnow in a minute
Well Goonerjay – I saw the quote about Roma being after G O’Silva.
A beautiful, voluptuous woman went to a gynecologist.
The doctor took one look at this woman and all his
professionalism went out the window.
He immediately told her to undress. After she had
disrobed the doctor began to stroke her thigh. Doing
so, he asked her, “Do you know what I’m doing?”
“Yes,” she replied, “you’re checking for any abrasions
or dermatological abnormalities.” “That is right,” said
the doctor. He then began to fondle her breasts. “Do
you know what I’m doing now?” he asked.
“Yes,” the woman said, “you’re checking for any lumps or
breast cancer.” “Correct,” replied the shady doctor.
Finally, he mounted his patient and started having sexual
intercourse with her. He asked, “Do you know what I’m doing
now?”
“Yes,” she said. “You’re getting herpes; which is why I came
here in the first place.”
yeah i saw that one Chary but it was tribal so i didn’t bother reading it… they talk more shit than ancelotti
MORE FUNNIES! Really great ones!
What does D.A.M stand for?
Mothers Against Dyslexia.
well here’s what ferguson had to say ,” he organisation was fantastic, I must say,” he stressed. “Despite all the concerns over the pitch, it wasn’t Arsenal’s stadium for sure, the best pitch in the country I think, but it was fine and the rain helped it.”
nothing else about arsenal i’m afraid.
that top picture on the funnies is quality
That was my favourite… I just sent it to the Chavs at work… It feels so damn good?
Libalfootball stuff can,at best, be described as “extremely speculative”. At worst – a load of old pony.
Having said that I’d like to believe the story they’ve put out about Robinho being a step closer to leaving Madrid. (But they also say the Chavs and Spudz are in for him too).
That is good news, its a shame Spurs seem to be the second richest club in london these days!
I’d be gutted if he went there… attracting top players to a club that is no where near the champions league must be tough.
Spurs are embarrassing themselves with all these players they are chasing…
‘Look Berbatov, look how ambitious we are… we nearly signed Maradona!’
once the chavs start bidding.. there will only be one winner.
why is a woman like a condom?

Sorry I was out at a meeting.
Pedro that other GMR was a hoax, I only ever post from the same computer in the same place I assume the email address he gave was also incorrect??
but how far away from the truth was the hoax GMR?
You left us all intrigued
So over to you Pedro, name and shame the cnut that got our hopes up, and I’ll nip round with Bud sharpish to sort him out!
1st things first Odub… we need to know the REAL gmr’s take on events… then take care of the wind up merchant… priorities mate… we need some news, newsnow is dead
I thought so… he wasn’t convincing anyone… he made a spelling mistake as well… Very un-GMR-like.
He used the e-mail… John.smith@hotmail.com.
He could have at least come up with an original name!!
I have to go back out until 6pm (take the kids to swimming lessons).
Anyway the imposter was nearly right about one point. Nasri will be unveiled next week it should be monday afternoon but it could run to tuesday. I’ll explain a little more later, but as I said its further on than people think!!
Cheers for that GMR you the man!!
now all we need to do is find every cnut called John Smith in the uk…. shouldnt be that difficult!!!!
Good man GMR… i’ll be checking back for your full report later.
LOL Odub..
jay i’ll be back on 7ish to see what breaking news he has for us!!
So the kid wants to sign but it’s his agent being a silly cnut. Good on you Sami, I take it all back you aint half bad after all, now sack your agent and get your mum & dad to negotiate the deal with you!
Sir Rednose on Real trying to poach Greaseball Ronaldo!!!
He aint having it is he?!! lol
“When you want to keep someone you work hard to do it,” the Reds boss said.
“That is a fact not lost on Manchester United but it is a fact not lost on Real Madrid either.”
He added: “Do you not think we’ve not had interest from big clubs around Europe about our best players? Of course, we have.
“But they don’t get into the nonsense [Real Madrid] get into.
“[Real] think they can ride rough-shod over everyone, but they won’t do it with us. We only sold them Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Beckham because we wanted to.
“Real Madrid have no moral issues at all. In terms of great clubs, Barcelona have far better morality than Real Madrid will ever have.”
I read that earlier Odub… why can’t Wenger do that?
Because, goonerjay, he’d have to grow some cajones first.
Do you think that’s why out of all the stadiums in the PL our manager is one of the only ones that doesn’t have one of those leather Recaro chairs… he’s working on his back bone?
I’m giving up on newsnow, they’re just recycling the same stories across the net!!
So another week goes by and nothing happen!! Nada, diddly squat! How depressing, oh well at least I’ve got Vino to keep me deluded!! Marathon drinking session commences in an hour and will last until Monday!! Get in!
We don’t need Newsnow Odub… we’ve got GMR.
I wish i could get lashed all weekend mate… I gotta go round the sister in-laws tonight… atleast i’ve got the boxing tomorrow
Let the drinking begin Odub. Some say there are no answers at the bottom of a glass but I am determind to still try!
goonerjay, no way the hit man’s going to lose, so refusing to pay 15 to sky to watch a forgone conclusion!! I’ll concentrate on Hull V Bristol instead, just to see where 6 of our 90 points from next season will be coming from!!!
James I’ll be on a one man crusade to find that answer!! I’m sure it’s there mate, look harder!!
You lucky guys, to be young, carefree and able to relax and unwind with a drink.
Not to rub it in Chary, but…. i’m 21 and Monday’s a holiday …I might not remember this weekend
Oi Chary, who you calling young!! If I remember correctly you’ve only got 6 years on me mate! I remember when bay city rollers were no 1, that’s how old I am mate!! lol
thats the spirit trinidad… my 2 pint lunch time has set me up nicely for a 5.30pm staright from work booze up… the perfect start to a weekend!!
But still Odub… after paying £2k to go to Vegas to see him lose against Mayweather i want to see him spank a yank.
You boys talking about beer is making me thirsty
fucking hell mate!! I was in NY and had to watch it with a bar load of noisy yanks baying ‘fuck that mo fo up pretty boy!’
Wasnt a pleasnt experience! he needs to do this mexi american bloke Lazcano good and proper to make up for that.
A Brummie goes to Ground Zero in New York one year after 9/11. Whilst there, he sees a fireman paying his respects. The Brummie says to him, “there were a lot of people that were very proud of what you guys did”.
“Thanks buddy,” the fireman replies.
“You lot were bloody brave,” the Brummie says.
“Thanks. Where are you from anyhow?” the fireman asks.
“Birmingham,” he replies.
“Birmingham? What state’s that in?” asks the fireman.
The Brummie looks around and replies, “about the same as this really…”
Away from Beer for a minute …. I think Wenger WILL cash in on Hleb. He did it with Cashley when he met Zenit St. London.
Nasri, and Hleb + 5 mil for Robinho? Our midfield is sorted.
Odub – in your case 6 years makes all the difference !
Trinindad- at least it’s a holiday here in Blighty too and I’ll be allowed out, so even I may sneak a few Kronenbourgs in !
I think he’s gonna spank him Odub… 1st time he’s fought in 8oz gloves for 2-3 years and he’s been using a new trainer as well as Billy Graham to sharpen up his combinations and defences… I think he realises that he has been neglecting his boxing skill and just tried bullying people so he’s gone back to basics… it should be a right good tear up
lol!! goonerjay good joke, I just hope for your own good know yanks come on, ‘cos they’re fairly sensitive about ground zero!! good laugh though!!
Trini if what the press is reporting is true and Robinho is only on 1.5 mill a year at Madrid, I’m sure we can afford to double his wages!! Give them Hleb + 5 mill and sneak Eboue into the small print!!! lol.
Can’t see many stumping £15 to watch Hatton grappling with a journymen mexican. Mayweather-Hatton this fight ain’t!
Nasri will sign on monday. As I said the other day about contracts etc. He can only sign on monday at the earliest.
yeah jay saw a reality docu thing on sky and he’s got a weights trainer in as well as billy graham, fight will probably last all of 5 rounds! like Paulinho said hardly worth 15 quid!
So this player AW’s signing from the EPL, do we think it was a smoke screen or will it still happen?
What is the difference between Tony Blair and Harold Shipman?
Harold Shipman actually did something about NHS waiting lists
odub.. not if RM values robinho at 40 m…
how much do you reckon hleb is worth… 15-20 mill?
Odub, 1.5 Mil a year seems pretty low to be true. Flamini rejected that x 2
Odub/Goonerjay – no need to worry about the yanks; ground zero is in much better shape than Birmingham!!
What’s all this talk about drinking; don’t you guys watch/read the news?? Latest reports suggest it’s not good for you – fuck it; who’s round is it??!!! I’ll just have another bottle of red thank you.
chaps I’m calling it a day,week!!
Hopefully we’ll get some good news on Monday, if not I’ll probably be too cnuted to care anyway!!
Adios Grovers!
I used to pay £18 to watch Tyson blow some unknown away in 19 seconds… so £15 to watch 2 title fights aint bad value in comparison.
I thought that Trinidad… where i read about it they said he is on 1.2m a year and that he is looking to double it… fuck it we’ll triple that if he wants to come to the Emirates
take it easy Odub… have a good one
Goonerjay, wouldn’t it be fucking hilarious if Robinho leaves Madrid for Arsenal in search of better wages?
It would shuit the papers up mate wouldn’t it
I used to pay for the Tyson fights too.
Buster Mathis Jr and Bruce Seldon fights still haunt me, although i’m can’t remember if they were all ppv though.
most Tyson fights were PPV after 86 mate…he was great fun to watch though… he was an animal.
Like Ricky Hatton says… if you found Mike Tyson in bed with your missus you would tuck him in.
lol.
As an experienced striker, Anelka had been asked to take one of the first five penalties but turned down the request because he did not feel ready, having come on as a 99th minute substitute.
In the event, Chelsea scored their first four penalties before captain John Terry hit the post, sending the shoot-out into sudden death.
Anelka said: “I did not think for a moment I was going to come on.
“I had remained sitting on the bench and suddenly they asked me to play — not
even a minute after sending me to warm up.
“I do not know if that has happened before in a Champions League Final, in a match of such intensity, that a player is sent onto the pitch without having warmed up.
lol… that would be a killer trinidad!!!
In an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe, Anelka also spoke of his frustration at his lack of opportunities at Chelsea in his preferred position as a central striker.
He said: “Since I arrived at Chelsea I have never been played in my position. Never as a second striker, always on the left and right. I have said nothing until now.
“When I came here they told me I would play in a 4-4-2. I did not join to play on the right or left. I no longer have any need to prove what I am worth playing in the middle.
“I could have played up front with Didier.
He wanted that as well but our partnership has never even been tried in training.
“We must have played together for half an hour.”
wtf is up with anelka??
that idiot anderson stepped up and took a penalty.. and here a supposedly “world class striker” is crying just because he didn’t warm up..
isn’t the money warming him up?
geez… check this out people!!!

CHARYBDIS,
is this the one?
How much do you have to be warmed up to take a kick from the spot? .. he came on after 99 mins? so he had 11 mins on the pitch
classic choy, brilliant
le sulk is back!! hes off in the summer then!! what a wimp, most players would kill to take a pen in a champs league final!
I have to admit though, after seeing Ronaldo miss his kick, I wanted Terry to score. Just to see the look on CR’s face.
Its a case of who would you rather be in pain
When Anelka is retired the biggest regret of his life will be that he left Arsenal
absolutely jay, he could have been one of the prems greatest ever if he’d stayed!
trinidad… i agree watching ronaldo miss a that pen was magic, him loosing the champs league for the team he’s won so much else for would keep me smiling all summer
http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=News&article=491766&lid=NewsHeadline&Title=Problems+contacting+Arsenal+via+telephone?
looks like we are at least doing something right.. no wonder the transfers are delayed!!!!
pedro,
In a free market, the price for hleb is decided by the prospective bidders. There is nothing wrong in Hleb prioritising money over other things ( CL football, beautiful football, chance of trophies and so on). Ronaldo who is on 120k per week wants a pay rise. This is the state of today’s market.
If we are not prepared to pay his kind of money we would be stuck with youngsters. No amount of convoluted logic with comparisons with average fan’s salary will make the arsenal fans feel better about losing these kind of players.
Also it seems like wenger wants to build around one superstar(Cesc at 100k) and have youngsters (or people like rvp, toure who have reasonable salray demands of around 60k) in all other positions.
So anybody who makes high salary demands (like Adebayor) maybe shown the door.
SFO, Cesc does not earn £100k a week.
It is not a free market for Hleb… he has a contract. That is pretty simple logic. If he wants to go, we are the only ones who can allow him to… unless he wants to fight it in the courts.
Why would we pay Hleb £100k… he is not worth it. He is just being a greedy cunt. The comparison puts how greedy these players are into perspective.
I tell you what would make the Arsenal fans happy… us telling him to fuck off or us telling Madrid we will have Robinho in exchange.
Wenger pays market value. Cesc maybe worth more than he is earning at the moment (£45k last time I checked) but Flamini was not worth £100k. The only reason Milan are paying that is becuase they bypassed the fee…
Don’t kid yourself that Arsenal pay poor wages… we have a massive wage bill and players like PV04, Henry and Bobby Pires wouldn’t have hung around if they were being paid poorly. We got the best out of them, and they got the best out of us.
I stand by what I wrote… he owes us.
http://www.thecnj.co.uk/islington/2008/052308/news052308_17.html
The new signings are getting younger!
choy it looks like they are trying to keep the lines free in case Nasri might ring
Pedro …. sorry to say but your post sounds like sour grapes and that you haven’t come into the modern age of football. When the old First Division was replaced by the Premiership it also ushered in globalisation and capatilism in football in a big way. That footballers work to these rules is no surprise, do you really think when players kiss the badge on their shirt that they mean they are, and will remain, loyal to that club. If you believe that you are living in fantasy football land. At the end of the season both you and Geoff were singing the praises of Ade and Bendtner … as I have said before these are mediocre players and no matter how many skilled and talented midfielders we have, having a main striker whose first touch gives the ball straight back to the opposition time and time again is dissheartening to any midfielder. I don’t blame either Flamini or Hleb (should he go) they know that having such faith in the likes of Ade and Bendtner will not get them any silverware. They may as well move on to bigger clubs and get the rewards (both financially and trophy wise) that Arsenal are not big enough to deliver. I am also writing filled with anger and what could be called sour grapes … because out of my 40 years in supporting Arsenal I know that we had one of our best chances ever last season of winning all the big trophies … Wenger dismissed the domestic cups and didn’t strengthen enough to win the Premiership and Champions league. Yet we could have one them all. To let United win two more major titles and leave us floundering further behind proves which team is the thouroughbred in England and leaves us a poor also ran. Disgusted with our lot this season as they threw it all away …and that to me shows there is no loyalty or fighting spirit for this club …..weak willed and no guts …. to be honest I don’t care how many of them move on for pastures new as this team will just crumble under presure again next season ..they haven’t learnt anything except how to buckle under pressure and throw titles away and that becomes a bad habit.
David that would be funny if it was not true
A W had a chance to bring someone in during the window mark when everybody was screaming for him to sign someone anyone to strengthen the squad so its A W fault
Terry .. I don’t disagree with you …. as I said Wenger dismissed the domestic trophies and didn’t strengthen when he should have … so I agree it is partly Wenger’s fault but if the players he put out couldn’t deliver the goods, when the Bendtner’s and Hoyte’s of this world complained theywere not given enough chances …then when given the chance showed absolutely nothing in the big games …. then as I say I don’t care who goes … lets get some real talent in and players with a bit more backbone.
Pedro,
Sure. Hleb has a contract. But if a player is more than halfway through his contract and refuses to sign an extension, then you are better off listening to bids for him. If you force him to stay, you are not sure how motivated he is.
This is the so called ‘Player Power’ factor. Even Wenger has sometimes admitted that he cannot do anything against it.
Contracts work for the club only during the initial portion (say 40%) of the contract period. Hence the mad rush to extend contracts.
What a rant Mark!
I am fully aware that we live in a capitalist society. I am also fully aware what a contract is… if you sign one, and the club you are signed to wants to keep you… you have to stay.
Adebayor is not an average player. You don’t need to take my opinion on it, but you’d be a fool to ignore John Terrys,
“That is the real worry for me and any defender who comes up against him – he has enormous talent but he’s just going to get better and better.”
Rio Ferdinand echoed his sentiments…
30 goals would in the toughest league also says a lot about him as a player. Room to improve… average? Do me a favour…
Saying Nikki B is average is also a load of rubbish. He is far from average and I think he will show you that next year.
I make you right on some of your Arsene points… but to say you are being negative is an understatement. Look at the good things… 4 points off, Sagna, Clichy, Cesc, a fit Eduardo, a Fit RvP, 15 or so points better off than last year… a couple of world class signings… things are not that bad.
SFO, contracts work at Madrid, Barca, Milan, Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter…
Pedro,
Sure. Those are also the clubs(with the exception of Liverpool) that pay the most wages. So the players there have nowhere to go without taking a pay cut. So obviously the agents and the players are not interested. In liverpools case they have mostly average players (with the exception of Torres/Gerrard who are well paid) whom nobody wants.
well said pedro…
well only man u among the top 4 won anything this season.. so…
we were just 4 points off… we need a couple of good additions this year and we’re set…
i also think nick scored more than rvp in all competitions this year!!
2005-2006
Chelsea – £114m
Manchester Utd – £85m
Arsenal – £83m
Liverpool – £69m
Newcastle Utd – £52m
£2mill short of the Mancs and the Prem pays the most in the world SFO.
It’s a myth we pay poorly.
Well said Choy… Nikki B has some serious talent and he showed it late on in the season.
He could be a big player for us next year.
Yes Pedro I did rant and I am negative … Football teams are in the business to win trophies … when I was much younger, many moons ago, I used to look at United’s Liverpool’s and our historic records (First Division, later premiership, FA cup, League Cup and European Cup) they wenmt ahead of us but I used to believe that one day we would overhaul the likes of United and Liverpool with these titles. The most important to me was, and still is, the domestic league. Of course I want the European cup/Championship but the league comes first. I am now at an age when I am nearer my grave than my birth and in my lifetime I don’t see us ever passing United or Liverpool for the haul of major trophies (I haven’t dared look at them lately but I saw Ferguson’s record of all trophies just during the time of the premiership and it is awesome). The fact that this season just gone we threw it all away and left more trophies to them has really angered me and left me really down. Pedro …. As far as Ade is concerned I will just have to disagree with you (and Terry and Ferdinand) and I believe next season will find him out and that this season was a flash in the pan. And Bendtner ….. I don’t think the likes of United, Chelsea, Liverpool or the big Italian/Spanish teams would be snapping him up if we let him go. So why should we be lumbered with second best when our rivals buy the best?? It’s the difference between a cabinet with trophies and a bare trophy cabinet at the end of the season.
mark… to answer about bendtner… which world class striker would be willing to sit on the bench?
he’s a 4th choice striker.. who has scored in all the competitions that he has played in this season!!!
Mark, must say I agree with a lot of the suff you say. I’m always looking at this website & it seems year by year we fall further behind!!
http://www.krysstal.com/trophies.html
Adebayor we cant sell him, no way…. he adds something different to our team and well basically i know we get frustrated but he can learn
Cesc Fabregas, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy are the only players we cant afford to let go. Anyone else i aint going to down hearted about
we should be building the team around these players.
suff = stuff!! The water’s gone to my brain.
Pedro,
Is it possible we have a lot of youngsters which adds to the Wage bill being so close to ManU?. I am pretty sure we pay a lot less for our starting eleven than ManU. Is there a website that lists salaries? How could ManU have more depth in their squad and have the same wage bill as us?
SFO
maybe we got loads of well paid youngsters
Hey Mark,
I made the point to Geoff last week… this transition bollocks is ok if you are young… but if you are 70, you might die before you see and fruition!
Nikki B was interesting Milan and Chelsea at the start of the year! He would have plenty of suitors if he chose to leave. Remember he only just turned 20! Dos Santos is talking about leaving Barca and the only interested party is Man City.
Adebayor has his faults… offsides, poor touch… occasional laziness! Judge him after next year… if he scores another 30 goals, will you still complain?
SFO, how much we pay the kids has been sited… but lets be honest, if a club can afford to pay one player £10mill for a season, they pay good wages.
Mark, feel free to vent your anger over here! I agree with many of your points… I am just trying to be positive. Lets wait and see who comes in and who goes out before we get all worried about next year.
Wenger is no mug… hopefully he knows what we need… hopefully!
At least we are contenders this year… there wont be talk about the Spuds nicking 4th (Clutching at staws…)!
GMR … As I said I haven’t looked at the titles list for some time because I know we are still behind the big two (United/Liverpool). Thanks for the website and I am surprised that Liverpool are still ahead of United for First Division/Premiership titles. I would have thought United had caught them by now. Anyway we are not catching anyone on any front and as you say GMR just fall further behind each season.
Nasri having medical now apparently.
ARSENAL TIMES REPORT THAT NASRI IN LONDON HAVING MEDICAL ……………. NOW!!!!!!
Brilliant… what is the source?
The source is a reliable source…
Pedro – its a ‘reliable source’ reported on Arsenal Times – your guess is as good as mine, just bloody hope it is no spoof…………
Ketchup, HP, oh, Arsenal Times.
Seems pretty stand up.
Pedro …. I know I can have my rant on this website as long as I don’t insult any blogger that’s why I come back to it. And my rant wasn’t meant to be aimed at you it’s just my anger and frustration at a season that I really believe we had trophies in our hands to lose and lose them we did.
Nikki B .. You may prove me wrong Pedro but I just don’t see the potential in him as I do in someone like Theo. I don’t think a club like ours can afford to give certain players another chance and they should go. For all my rant at Wenger I do think he is a brilliant Manager but his weak point is misguided loyalty and sticking with the likes of Bendtner, Eboue, Senderos, et al, when he should be selling them, will hold this club back.
Ade … There’s no way he will score 30 goals next season … but if he does I could hardly then say he is average and would have to do some serious grovelling as 30 odd goals two seasons running could not be a fluke. I just don’t see it though.
And yes Pedro, though I’m not quite 70, I agree with you so much that this transition rubbish doesn’t help us older supporters who might be lying under grass when they finally do the business on it.
Lets just hope Wenger buys wisely and the brilliant football we played this season can be added to next season with a bit more grit.
I’m somewhere in between on this. I rate Bendtner but don’t rate Adebayor.
Think Bendtner will surpass Adebayor before too long.
I’d just like to say well said. players take the piss year in, year out just so they can buy another bentley, or another fucking mansion when theres decent honest people scraping the bottom of a barrel just to go and watch their club, or buy their clubs colours, I know this personally, when i can afford it, i go, in my eyes if he wants more money, he can fuck off, and we can get something in return for him. hopefully a decent amount this time, coz reyes, henry and vieira didnt go for half as much as they were worth. Anyways, enough of my moaning, lets all be positive and look forward to next season, with a new number 13, and hopefully with that, a bit of silverware for our troubles.
just seen two stories don’t know how true.Nasri having a medical with us now and Robinho says chavs are interested in him
why am i even thinking this could be true…………….. i guess i just live in hope
Pedro … just going back to our Bendtner debate …having looked at Nasri’s youtube clips (and hoping the above rumours about signing is true) you can see (at 20) he has a footballing brain and skill and is full of potential development to something really special, I also see this in Theo …but Bendtner ….it’s just not there, he wanders around looking lost too much (and that’s not because they’re not passing to him like Theo) … but because he’s not the quality we need. Anyway lets all hope Nasri is a cert because that will also be great for Cesc and lure other stars to us.
I belive we should try to sign Villa. It seems that van Persie is injured yet again. Do you we want to wait until after Euros when we find out he has a seriuos injury to look for someone..I dont think so.
Vela could be given a run on the left b4 being used as a striker to give Villa a space to play.
Chris(5.17pm) – that was the why I wished I looked when I saw the series in 1979. but my avatar – if it doesnt just turn into a little black square overnight – is not of a person, it’s an inanimate object.
Alex Ferguson has accused Real Madrid of lacking morals over their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo.
His comments come after the Spanish club’s manager Bernd Schuster said he was confident the United star will eventually grace the Bernabeu.
Ferguson said: ‘They think they can ride roughshod over everyone but they won’t do it with us.
‘Real Madrid have no moral issues at all. In terms of great clubs, Barcelona have far better morality than Real Madrid will ever have.
Why don’t we get this sort of answer from Arsenal??
Mark, what I’ve seen when I’ve seen Bendtner play is someone who retains the ball when it’s passed up to him with his back to goal, a better first touch than Adebayor, but with each passing game he’s linked up with he rest of the teams passing better and better.
I don’t care if he doesn’t have lots of mates who celebrate with him when he scores-if he scores goals and tries his best that’s all we should expect of him – or any player.
publicly real madrid said they were not looking to buy Ronaldo and unless he came to them then they were not making a move this summer. privately, they have of course been talking to his agent. this is what fergie is talking about. he means real are saying one thing to the press and another in reality. they are underhand but we all knew that. Man U are no better!
well said David its about time that man yoo got this type of bulshit also it means that they cant get Cesc
Players, football clubs and agents are all playing mind games with us fans it would be nice just for once to see Arsenal saying what the fans want to hear.
What about instead of us finding and making a player who turns greedy, we buy a player like Wright -Phillips who has shagged his career for money and would be gratefull of the chance to play for a big club and he could pass his experience on to the younger greedy players?
not so sure about Wright Philips he had his chance to sign why go there again but I see your point about more experinced players Eissen would be a better bet
Wright Phillips or Eboue on the right?
none of the two
if he cant make it at chelski how could he make it here
Diarra didn’t make it at Chelsea but everyone has slated Wenger for letting him go for a profit.
If he wasn’t good enough for Chelsea how could he be good enough for Arsenal?
true but why did Wenger let him go he couldnt make the team and wanted to dictate when and where he should play as for slateing A W for selling him we needing cover at the time he didnt make at Arsenal and he didnt make it at chelski
The Sun:
ALEX HLEB has left Arsenal in crisis after winning his battle to quit the club.
The midfielder will leave this summer after showdown talks with Arsene Wenger.
Hleb’s agent Niki Spilevski said: “I can officially confirm that a short time ago Alexander decided that he will leave Arsenal and join another club.
“Of course Arsenal and Arsene wanted him to stay but they have accepted the player’s choice.”
Wenger had threatened to let Hleb rot in the reserves after holding talks with Inter Milan over buying out his contract.
But the Frenchman has since climbed down with the Italians now willing to pay out a higher transfer fee.
Hleb, who joined Arsenal three years ago for £11.2million from Stuttgart, wants to quit because he hates life in London.
Spilevski added: “That is his choice.
“He has understood that the right time has come for him to make a change.
“Alex has spent three good seasons at Arsenal and he wasn’t sure he could maintain the same level that he has been showing if he stayed.
“It’s also true that he felt uncomfortable off the field.
“Alexander wants a change of scene. That’s had a large part to play in his decision.
“Alex informed the club of his desire to move to another club.
“We are not using article 17 of the FIFA rule.
“I can’t tell you anything about where he will be playing yet.
“Talks are underway, and I don’t have the right to make them public.
“I think that the issue of his new club will be clarified in the next few days.”
As long as there is a profit in it for The Arsenal, Helb & agent are both expendable. Now hurry up you 2 & piss off so we can get on with winning trophys.
If the big tough talking italians & spaniards want our players so much then they should pay big bucks. I mean they bang on about how much they want our product, well in a world of supply & demand they must be willing to pay. And with that money, we will buy better players than the deluded ones who want to leave.
So to any other Arsenal players who think that they could do better some where else. Well heres the rub. The fans will spot it, you can’t hide it from them.
And to the players who are willing to die for the Glory of the Club, well you all know who you are, so lets get on with winning number 14 Title next year.
i see King Kanu Jnr scored the no.1 goal of the season at spuds, thats pretty cool!
good spot paulinho, although idk as to the veracity of the article… the writer/editor can’t even spell hleb’s name right! aliaksandr smack-tards!!!
i will be happy to be rid of them though, we don’t want people bitching and moaning about how they don’t want to play football in the best league in the world, with one of the best clubs in the world, because “london is too cold”! boo-hoo… grow up you sod! but get out of north-london first, we (the fans) don’t want you there (or here, as it may be for you guys).
oh, and now we can actually use him as a bargaining tool for robinho! what a cunt though…
