Ok we had a lot of debate a couple of days ago when discussing Le Chump, today is the turn of the player/staff member/inanimate object we all liked best, Le Groves first Le champ of the season.
We thought long and hard about this one and took all your comments on board, so here is the short list.
In no particular order.
Any excuse to bust this photo out again!
Eduardo - Eduardo was so unlucky to have had the break when he did, he was just beginning to establish himself and fate stepped in, but we all saw enough to want more and next season we have no doubt he’ll be back and in contention, Eduardo we really appreciate what you’ve done this season.
Gael Clichy - This kid has it all, he stepped out of Cashley’s shadow and made the left back slot his own, now he is arguably the best left back in football (and with us for an extra two years), he gives us so much down the left side it’s difficult to ignore this him, great improvement this year and unfortunate against the brummies, we were robbed and so were you.
Sagna - What can you say about someone that no-one had heard of? That he could be so good, well done the Grimster, great spot! This guy gets nominated for his awesome displays and the way he acted when his brother sadly died, both he and Gael made the premiership team of the season, so well done the full backs.
How Van Persie sees Lewin…
Gary Lewin - Gary gets on the list for his speed in saving Eduardo’s leg, if it wasn’t for his quick thinking Eduardo may have lost his leg, it was that serious, so well done Gary. Unfortunately you spoiled all that, the day you saved John Terry and his serpent like tongue, so for that you’ll have to wait another year, but noble effort and we are forever in your debt.
Cesc - Nothing can be said about this young man that hasn’t already been said, except maybe, ‘I love you’ there I said it, he’s over 16 so there’s no law against it! He is Mr Arsenal and next year should be captain, his marauding runs and tireless workrate are unmatched and when he scores, he goes nuts and we all adore him for that, but what really puts this guy forward for me was his loyalty when the boss was on the rack, he came straight out and said he loved the club, the fans and the manager, shame others didn’t take note.
Adebayor - I worried about this one because I didn’t want to see Ethan’s posts, but a nomination for scoring 30 goals is warranted, he’s still got a lot to prove though so this year is maybe too soon to get Le Champ, but well done all the same, now go and prove you love the Arsenal.
And the winner is?… I have to split it 3 ways Cesc, Sagna and Gael Clichy; all have been warriors and all are Arsenal through and through and we really love you for that.
Congratulations guys, have Peroni on Le Grove.
Arsene, make sure you give Cesc the armband next season and then it’s job done.

Yeah saw bits of the game choy, Theo was quiet until he scored and he did his Liverpool run twice in the second half, but lost the ball once, and no one read the cross the second time.
Was also watching a legends game England V Scots, Merse was spraying passes round for fun, Nigel Winterburn was up and down the left flank, and Ray Parlour was smashing 30 yard shots in for fun!! Good game!

i have to say though taht we were absolutely fantastic this season. its funny when steven G,KK and other bottom feeders saying how you have to spend spend spend to won the prem and yeah we didnt win it but fuck we were 4 points behind!

Effin fantastic addition to the team, made a massive difference, which was made even more obvious when he was injured. 1st season, settled staright in…BRILLIANT!

Big news regarding Vela, Wenger calls him an Eduardo type, meaning he will step in for Eduardo.
WE ARE NOT BUYING A STRIKER
Wenger plans to play Song as centre back and says he’ll be a big player for us in 1-2 years, he will NOT be taking Flamini’s role. So far we need to bring in experience for Flamini’s role, and someone experienced at CB and a winhger, because Vela WILL NOT be playing left wing for Arsenal, which is why Hleb is so crucial in Wengers plans. We would need to buy a third player if he goes.

I cant id the boss’s view on Eboue, and how he rates him……………
Then last night I was viewing the game against the mancs in 2007 (yes a while ago i know) but Eboue bombed up and down the right flank like a mad man, had a few digs at rooney and coand provided that final rip snorter of a cross for the titi header to win -
We have to accept he is staying.
You know, as a RB he was good, and that is his place, not in midfield. he should be used only as cover for Bac, and in the english cups, and to rest Bac against the ‘not so strong’ sides (no disrespect meant)
Kolo is not and never will be a RB and not be expected to play there.

Most improved has to be Theo, and next season he will net 20+ goals

Wenger talked about his plans for Song (on the official site now). He is planning to use him as a centre back and states that he doubts if Song could last 60 games should he deploy him as a midfielder. Le Boss also reckons that her still has at least another year of polishing his diamond of the rough edges.

If Song is earmarked as CB, that would fit with Kolo moving forward to midfield (alhtough i would prefer Song in midfield). Looks to me like Song and Djourou are being groomed for the long term CB little and large pairing.

Pedro- you’re correct it was a rumour doing the rounds of the AST but Arsenal rarely have press conferences to announce new signings, they generally just put up a couple of paragraphs on the website. The fans aren’t important enough to worry about.
The only press conferences I can remember Arsenal calling were Sol Campbell, because they were scared he’d change his mind again & the other one was for Henry signing a new deal.

Thuram rejected us before he went Barca. If that truly was the signing then it would only re-assure me that the club is going backwards!!

I think it’s great we have 6 players vying for the two striking berths, but i think it’ll be fine in terms of keeping them happy just because the only two who can’t play anywhere else are Bendtner and Adebayor. VP, Eduardo, Vela, Theo will all get games in midfield as well, so it should be OK.
A very generalised statement but English players generally have much worse attitudes than french players, or other nationalities on the continent. Just because of the differing cultures, no other culture has a youth culture of binge drinking like England does, it’s very unfortunate

The Daily Star report today that Thuram is set for Arsenal which has kicked off rumours, but it doesn’t make sense since he’s 36, and I doubt he’d sign him just for 1 year. If we do that would be completely against the philosophy of building a team. I doubt it’s Thuram, Wenger doesn’t go for 36 year old players….
Otherwise we’d still have Sol, Viera, Pires, etc.
Very speculative, I don’t believe there’s a shred of truth to the rumour.

I dunno finest, I could see Thuram signing. Arsene signed Suker when he was old. Centre back is one position where experience can make up for aging physical attributes. I could see it happening because our lack of composure etc when we get ahead and inability to hold on could be put down to experience, and Arsene might hope that Thuram’s experience rubs off on the other youngsters. He might also be able to help Senderos develop a bit

Arsene has said he expects Vela to be competing for a first team place so he’s gonna be in the squad pretty much the whole time. He’s far from too young, already a regular for Mexico as well. Eduardo will be back sooner rather than later too, he’ll be playing well before xmas….

VP is world class, as Arsene said, Bend, Theo and Vela could become world class this season. Very nearly won the title race this year, and our forwards will be much much better next season

Ade isn’t world class, but he has a World Class goal tally this year. If he improves next year, he wont be far off.
RvP is world class, if he proves his fitness… he could be amazing.
Bends is a talent in the making, he is only just 20… so I have high hopes for him.

Im also a bit worried for Kolo as well at CB.. i cant help but think that Gallas will stay on as captain and Kolo will have to make way for the new Taller CB.. but maybe Toure will then play the DM roll..?? i dont think toure has the agility or stamina of a midfielder, he is one of the biggest players at Arsenal i have heard sizewise, and his feet arent quick enough to play in that position and he will get caught out. No diresepct to him but he his a CB and that is his best position because of his strength and size. Look what happened when he was played at RB he actually struggled becuase hes adapted so well to the Cb position.
I like Gallas as well.. he was amazing at the back all season, i dont care what any1 says. But him and Toure isnt working, so sumthin has to happen..??
