Ok, there were a few contenders for this and I even included a player from last season, so the finalists were…
Thierry’s reaction to being wedgied by Messi… again
Thierry Henry – Thierry gets on the list because he was still an Arsenal player at the end of last season and he gets nominated for his dreadful decision making. I warned him, if you go you won’t… take free kicks or corners anymore, you won’t be their best player, you won’t score as many goals, they won’t sing your name and you sure as hell won’t be a legend. You will however get jeered often and be a sub for long parts of the season. Thierry, you should have listened.
Judas would have blushed at flamini’s disloyalty
Matty Flamini – He was a tosser and a greedy narsissic delusional twat and will spend most of his time on the bench, he’ll get found out when he runs up blind alleys and continually gets booked. Without the telepathic young kids of Arsenal to make him look good he will fall quicker that the Pound against the Euro. Add that to fans favourite Gattuso, eagerly waiting in the wings, and the future doesn’t look so good.
Flaking on his contract?
Hleb – He makes the list for his discussions in Milan behind our back, he’s done an Ashley and frankly with no Ade like denials forthcoming, is finished with the fans. Another one made to look good by his team mates, lots of skill, no end product, swap him for Ya Ya or 10 Woodbines and a book of matches.
The ball looked a little like Almunia’s head…
Jens Lehmann – Made the list for his bad behaviour but saved himself with his emotional goodbye’s at the Grove against Everton.
Muppet…
Eboue – Another work in progress I’m afraid, his theatrics and uselessness put him right up there, him and his adopted dad seem to be the only two in the world that think he can play football. Do the right thing Emanuel and fall on your sword.
I hear the Championship is fun, mwhaha!
Taylor – Anyone can accidentally break someones leg on purpose…
‘Oops…I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to get caught.’
This inbred goes on the list becuase he didn’t actually say sorry.
…So after much thought and many deliberations there is only one winner… take it away Matty, never look back and I hope you have a shit time in Milan, you ungrateful, spoilt, greedy, disloyal whore.
I’m sure you all have your own contenders, but in the main, we’re happy with our choice, tomorrow we do Le Champ of the season.
Remember to sign up to our all singing, all dancing mailing list… It actually doubles your attractiveness… honestly, it doubles it!
See you in the comments section!

Le Grove is now smart phone compatible!

martin taylor is the biggest chump i think
Ithink Hleb should win. His bullshit about London being too big for him is such utter crap. At least Flamini didn’t hide behind his agent and a bunch of false words.
As I said in the last comment of the previous post, my choice for all round Le Chump has got to be Martin Jol, & Arsenal club Le Chump has got to be Flamini, which will sit heavier on his shoulders if Milan don’t qualify for CL.
actually martin taylor got relegated, so i guess alex hleb is a twat….. london is our capital of course its going to noisy and busy
Milan are 2 points behind fiorentina, but to see them in the UEFA cup would be great, but imagine they play spurs in the uefa cup and thrash them silly
it looks like eboue is staying oh fuck!!!!
“You don’t always play a player because he scores goals, you play him because he gives you a balance to the team. We play in a very attacking style and Eboue gives us defensive balance.”
The Arsenal manager did make a comparison of his own – between Eboue and one of his illustrious predecessors on the right side of midfield.
“Ray Parlour did not score many goals on the right side of midfield,” pointed out Wenger. “You look at the numbers and you will be surprised but for me he was a great player for Arsenal Football Club.
“You can not only go on the goals and assists, you must look at the efficiency of the whole team. That’s why Ray Parlour was a great player for us and why Eboue helps us too.
“What counts is how many goals a team scores as a unit and how many changes we create. On that front we can compete with everybody in the League.”
what does he see in him, i think eboue is crap, if barca and milan are interested just sell him
Hleb? Please sell the cunt fast, and spend the cash on someone who can live in London
Pedro, I believe that if you took a poll of the bloggers., Taylor would piss the Chump award. But I respect your opinion.
My tuppence worth is that Flam did what anyone in his position (and right mind) would do. He got a better offer, he took it. Fair play to him. That he is disloyal is indisputable. That it was his workrate and performances that led to his betrayal is also true.
If it was just down to AW that he improved so much, why couldn’t Alladiere, Sidwell, etc etc?
Actually i’d like to nominate all the bigoted and biased English based football media for actually defending Martin Taylor as if he’d been the wronged party by using the ‘he’s not really that type of player’ statement to excuse his awful assault on Eduardo………………Arsene’s almost prophetic statement summed it up quite accurately, that “with everyone saying the only way to stop Arsenal is to kick them, then with that attitude this was an accident waiting to happen”…………can you imagine how the same media would’ve reacted if Senderos had done that to Rooney…….so my award goes to Sky, especially that clueless cunt Keys, all the pundits who sit in on the live games Platt et al, The Daily Mail, in fact any daily rag and especially anyone concerned with MOTD………..
Champ of the Season ? Got to be Cesc.
Though the fullback partnership is awesome.
GunnerShabz, those quotes are a bit worrying i can only hope wenger is trying to talk him up so he get more money for him .
I can’t stand the fucker…….
its like the deportivo player fucking beckham over before the world cup and everyone was calling for blood
i know for a fact, if someone else did that to rooney and england have qualified for the euros….
we would of still seen it in the back pages right now
Vieira can fuck off too: another ex-player who wishes he was still at the club and spends his time passing judgement on us. Milano and Inter are welcome to those two fucks and I predict they will do fuck all over there. Mind you, in Italy 11 goals in 3 seasons and however many games is a good return so maybe I’m wrong about Hleb. As for Flamini, I just pray Milano don’t make the CL
Morning all,
Great choice for Le Chump. Hope Meelan finish 5th as they currently are, Enjoy the uefa cup you waste of space!
My nomination for Le Champ… Sagna, hit the ground running, and we’ve missed him since his injury!
Off out again chaps so will; catch up later!
Note for Chris, saw Ironman…. the bollox!!
Abdenor
it looks the that bag of shit is staying for good… unless he goes to milan on a free transfer as well.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/may/14/premierleague.arsenal
Vieira sticking his oar in
Spot on Dennis, Thank goodness I don’t get Sky over here. I got so pissed off with their anti-Arsenal bias. The self same media who lauded our victory over Milan as the ‘future of football’ quickly got the knives out when we didn’t win a trophy.
They are cunts to a man (except Martin Samuel)
Gunnershabz – Maybe AW’s trying to talk the fuckwit up to potential buyers………..oh please god yes let it be so………
LE Champ i think Eduardo, he was becoming a great player i can remmeber his goals against blackburn, they shitted it when he was one and one with friedel
his goal against man city and west ham, great ability and finishing of the highest quality and putting on a brave face when injured…..
That Eboue picture has to be the most annoying thing i kept seen all year!
It pops up everytime something is relating to him…… hate the c**t!
Dennis
for some reason, he loves eboue, but he dont even offer anything to our team, he just wasted on the right wing, he can cover for sagna no problem.
did anyone see the program last night on football rivalries.
The has us and the spuds.
Some of the drivel that came out of the Spurs fans was amazing.
I think we should get
Giovani Dos Santos as Hleb replacement, good feet, quick and shots from all over the place which hleb does not do
£10m and he is ours, just do a swap deal with barca
he is 19 years old and well he mexican and best friends with carlos vela
Sagna for champ? Great fucking signing. Should do us well for a long time to come. I would say cut his hair but then who knows he may lose his touch?
i think sagna hair is a wig…..
Le Champ is a fucking tough call…
Le Chump didn’t go to Martin Taylor becuase he is already a Chump… playing for Championship side. I think he got his comeuppance.
It was Geoffs post any how! I agree with it, Flamini has fucked us… what a cunt!
It has to be Hleb!
From the time he licked the Italians vanilla on the eve of a Champions League game to yesterday’s statement about London being too big, I think he has totally embaressed himself and insulted the Arsenal Fans.
What he said about life in London did make me chuckle though, about it being too big and noisy because everyone knows when he decided to join Arsenal, London was a provincial little hamlet with a modest population of 212. The expansion has been enormous, I never realised how many other eastern Europeans had moved in!
I just hope he pisses off, I will never cheer for him again and no doubt in 10 years times I’ll doubt I’ll remember his contribution.
http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=news&article=491447&cpid=703&title=Wenger+-+Why+Eboue%27s+critics+are+wide+of+the+mark
This has just appeared on the wires but not on the main site yet.
Out of that list it has to be Martin Taylor, but I’d go for the entire Derby team for throwing away a chance of trying to play good football this season, they gave up very early on.
the only teams we did not win against both times
were
middlesbrough, they started to become a bogey team for us especially at riverside, before we used to smash them 4-0 and so on
birmingham, bloody bastards 1-1 and then 2-2 and of course taylor
man utd – 2-2 at emirates and lost at old trafford
Liverpool – boring fuckers, we had them at anfield they just got lucky and emirates i think it was stupid
thats all i can think of
Fuck is Le-Champ a tough call………. its gotta be Ray Parlour !
To my records, Romford Ray is the only player to dedicate himself to Le-Grove and as honourary Life President, surely he has it in the bag ?!!!!
Clichy should be considered for Le champ aswell, better final ball and a bit more concentration is all he needs to work on!
but i understand hleb situation
the council tax and also road tax and just tax has gone up and he cant afford it anymore…. inflation is going up.
oh yeah forgot he earns like £40k a week
It has to be the media. Everything Arsenal do is news. Look at the hard time we get continuously and look how easy Liverpool have got away with yet another poor season. Consider how much money they have spent and how little they have progressed. They are a 2-man team. And talking of easy rides – what about Spurs? Fourth biggest spenders over the past 5 years, 16.5 million on Bent. Ramos comes in with great fanfare and expense and cements them that 11th place spot despite having long enough to move them up the league. Yet the media are much more concerned with slaughtering Arsene and the club. 18th biggest spenders over past 5 years. Just moved to amazing new stadium. Play the best football and finish just a couple of points behind the richest club in the world. Continuously on the wrong end of a season’s worth of awful reffing decisions. The footballing media in this country are really, really bad.
How fucking dare Wenger compare Eboue and Parlour!
Sagna’s hair is fake, braided into his.
and the le chump of the season goes to eboue.a right winger who doesnt score a whole season…….even usmanov would score atleast 1 goal.no more..
Ray Parlour is the legend called “romford pele”
id love to have him in the side if he was 23years old, he is what we need at this current time
Why does he defend the cunt? Great idea to bring in another mexican to accompany Vela. Do Santos is a god idea.
Sorry Pedro ! Your writing styles are so similar ….
The Romford Pele must be spitting feathers about that one ! To be compared to Eboue -surely it is a joke from The Prof. Either that or AW is on the happy pills
The chump has to be arsenal, all that bragging:
spirit – when players are headbutting each other,
beautifal football – but can’t score goals,
our own Gatusso – and now he’s left,
wenger’s cute player dealings – selling Henry a year too late taking £10m less and paying him another £10m for a handful of games, £20m out of pocket
our bright young players – then they get thumped by spurs
our fantastic team – then get thumped by UTD
It’s been a great season
)
It has to be Taylor, at the mention of the name of that guy, I always felt sick for that seeming ‘deliberate’ tackle on Edu.
I dont like slating Arsenal players…. But with Eboue, I will make an exception.
He is shite, pure and simple.
Fllamini had one decent season after being out the door last year, so fair play to him.
Hleb can eff right off, he may have all the skill in the world, but he’s scored the same amount of goals as gallas this season and can be so effin frustrating, even tho this has been far and away his best season here.
BUT he was never a prolific scorer so you have to wonder why the fook Wenger signed him in the 1st place? bad choice AW.
Rosicky is a class player, but in the words of Blondie “has a heart, anklres, hamstring of glass” FFS Tom! Sort it out!
So, Eboue = chump of the millenium!
Pedro, anyone, has Eboue ever scored in the EPL?
am sure he has scored last season, but only one i can remember was against sunderland in the carling cup
Also I think this would be a great opportunity to thank Romford properly for his performance at Old Trafford when we won the league for which he got f-all credit….. I watched it again the other night and he was fuckin awsome !!!!
Also, his best mate and his old man drink in the boozer down the road, so I could even try and tie Ray down for a award presentation photo op…….. I can picture it now, old Orange Ray and Pedro in a DJ, Paps everywhere breaking a neck to steal the big money shot !!!!!!!!
No, one in Europe last year and one in the league cup the year before!
Shocking…
forgot the runner-up chump…..”sanderos”…….would someone pls tell him to try birmingham or some shitty team.the cunt cost us the champions legue..
Not a good day on the tabloid trashers…..not being linked with anyone this morning!
Ebuoe is alright by me. I don’t understand why everyone hates him. He doesn’t get that many goals – he’s a full-back! He does run up and down like a nutter, he is always willing, passes brilliantly, can cross, does have a shot (even if it doesn’t go in at least he has a shot) and above all, he is the nearest thing we’ve got to an enforcer. I love the tackle he put in on John Terry after Terry had attempted to maim Cesc. For that reason alone I’m a fan. Get off the guy’s back for f*ck’s sake!
http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=News&article=491450&lid=NewsHeadline&Title=Wenger+-+Why+this+year%27s+qualifier+is+a+dangerous+game
Wenger is quite correct to say that Russian teams are getting wealthier, look at Zenit in the UEFA final, they’re owned by Gazprom.
“Next season it is a dangerous qualifier because it is a European Championship year,” said Wenger. “You need to give some rest to the players and the time to prepare for the qualifier is very short.”
Well we’ve already prepared for that….most of our end of season players are not going to be involved, we can carry on from Sunderland.
“”I don’t believe it had a negative impact this season. It can do because you lose a Premier League game at the start of the season when you play your qualifier but this season we were right up front in the League, we didn’t drop places.”
Exactly what we should do again.
Isn’t being in the qualifiers financially beterr for the club? We get a few extra games before the group stages earning the club extra matchday and broadcast revenue.
“We are not completely sure yet but we could have 10 to 12 players at Euro 2008,” said Wenger. And don’t forget there are other players away too. The African players play four World Cup qualifiers. The South American players play as well and some of them are away as late as the European Championship players.”
Not as much pre-season time but…
Teams with fewer Euro players will be inferior opposition …..and all other “good” teams will be affected by the Euro championship as well.
NO Kenyan…. Refs cost us the CL. And why not Bendtner for stopping Fab’s shot?
great news odub, thansk for the review!
flamini is teh deserved winner, no player has got my blood pressure up so high every, upon hearing the news my post had approx 100 mentions of the C word, no exageration, so goood call,
sagna for me for le-champ, but i think pedro & Geoff would get a special mention for bringing us all together and letting us vent with out judgement
Pedro, this is a very late answer to your comment yesterday, but Chigwell is a lovely area (I was being sarcastic) because the spuds training ground is a few minutes walk from my house. I was just saying the area will be great as soon at they leave for Enfield.
I’m going to try & nab Modric on the first day he goes training & see if I can get him to hold a Le-Grove sign. He won’t have a clue what its all about!!
Talking of The Romford Pele, is anyone else in agreement with me when i thought he was MOTM in the FA Cup final against Newcastle??
Looks like Ya Ya wants to do a Yo Yo. Went down to Barca, now he wants to go up & play with Kolo. As per Goalo.como
I’m with you Dennis…………. another fine reason why Romford should be this seasons Le-Champ !!!!!!
Eboue aint a fullback, he’s a shit player, playing at Right midfield, has no assists and no goals! Might as well have played Gibbs, Randall or a bag of cement there.
Hopefully Theo will be 1st choice next year, with Rosicky making an appearance in between surgeries!
Senderos may not be the bestest back up CB, but thats just it, he is a back up, but needs about 15 games to get into any sort of form. Then makes big mistakes. I really hoped he’d come good, but it just aint happened. he would suit the La liga or serie A leagues. At least he gives it his all, he aint a lazy fecker!
Hey Guys!
I Joined the Bandwagon RE: Removing 1870 designs next to names!
As for eboue, what weenger says still doesnt cover it!! What ballence does he bring? He Spends most of the game on the floor feiging injury! I dont think he realises that Eboue thinks that hes an innocent Spectator, which is why he does nothing!!
Does he even make it into the National team?
Does he even know what a national team is?
Does he know that goals arent awarded on the spectacular dives, but the goals that are scored while hes on the floor?
I want to nominate ade’s football boots ..
i think the reason is obvious , and makes sense as people never want to blame the bloke for his really really poor footballing sense throughout the whole year ..
so im going to nominate ade’s football boots this season .. flamoney must be another
finalist , also diarra should at least get a nomination for the shortest time spent in the red and white !
le champ is THEO THEO THEO !
like either geoff or pedro said he has been le champ 3 times this season !
and i think that is enough of a claim to win the overall prize !
well done theo ! your going to be a legend at AFC !
True to that..among many other factors like bad luck.for the refs they have been so poor this season… i think we should have a session for slatting the poor refs.by the way,was nicklas trying to deflect the shot or moving away from the ball…..watched the clip lots ot times but still cant understand the boy
yes pedro it seems all fine now with a gmail account ..
ethangunner@gmail.com
Eboue should sold in the summer……. full stop!
should be sold
Soooooo bored of the Ade bashin
But Abdenor, we should give Eboue a similar level of kudos as Ray Parlour.
We should have nominated Arsenal wage structure.
As much as I don’t appreciate PV04 sticking his oar in, you can’t disagree with him.
If Liverpool, ManU and Chelsea are all paying these wages, we should be to.
I don’t mean £150k a week, but £60k a week is not massive is it? It wouldn’t put a player in the top 40 earners would it?
Can we keep with the Eboue bashin, ta!
This wage structure shit, is a red herring, im tellin ya.
How much was TH on? Vieira even. Not to mention cesc, Gallas, Sol???
Its bull shit.
Eboue rules! He’s a fantastic player. Don’t believe the assist stats, don’t run with the boo boys. Get behind our Ivorian dynamo. Eboue for Arsenal!
support eboue!! Senderos is improving too.
If you can tell me why, I will support Eboue.
Don’t quote Wenger either… that is cheating.
at least eboue can keep the ball at his feet until he dispatches it, plastic think weve heard enough of the eboue bashing also ! ! im even more bored of that , as its not as warranted !
the only person with any right to hate Eboue is John Terry, tackled by Eboue – out for 6 weeks. Not even a foul!
we should sell hleb and get citys elano. he is definately one who cud change a game. plus he could become our prolific midfielder.
The Eboue article has already been taken down!
Maybe it was to see fan reaction on the blogosphere, who knows. However Eboue looks to remain an unpopular player, people don’t “appreciate” the defensive qualities he brings to our team according to Wenger.
Give me a traditional 4-4-2 any day of the week with two attacking wingers….
eboue was a dynamo when he was playing at right back.i loved especially the way he used to rough up cristiano.he was brilliant in the chapions legue ’05 atleast till he started being a cunt.he is the worst in decision making when on and off the ball.
Lets face it , e-BOO-eh has nothing to offer us, if we buy a CB and keep both Kolo & Gallas then surely one of them can cover for Sagna!
He’s clearly not a winger so it’s about time AW does the maths, Eboue is surplus to requirement…….. simple as that!
ok pedro ill try
eboue has score about as much as hleb does !
eboue can play 2 positions at least .
eboue can cross the ball !
eboue does have some pace
eboue CAN PASS !
eboue isnt a bad right sided player .
do i like him , not really i think we can do better .. but at least he supports arsenal passing game and can dance & takes a great photo too !
The worst you can say is that he has been played out of position. We’ll see him back to his best next season. Eboue for Arsenal!
From Sky Sports; Sevilla’s director of football Ramon Monchi is also rumoured to be on Arsenal’s list of targets following his impact in the club’s rise to prominence in recent seasons.
If that is true, then that is fan-fookin-tastic news! Thre guy is a genius and the real brains behind Sevilla’s successes.
Lets get him now, oh please, with sugar on top!
Fair shout, I love him!
there is one thing i like about him though…..his dancing..esp when they are doing it with ade.
Oh Hoyte should also be offloaded am affraid ( obvious reasons )
We can still win games with Eboue, but we all know we’d rather have Rosicky, Walcott or Hleb playing there.
Last season Wenger chose Hoyte over Eboue as right back every time, Eboue was made a right winger since he had a tendency of going forward.
Eboue is Wenger’s problem child…he always think he’ll turn out to be fantastic while everyone else murmurs disapprovingly.
Hopefully we can find that balance with Rosicky and Walcott as well, and that Eboue doesn’t become a critical part of our setup. Unless of course he can change his game and both defend AND attack.
eboue has the highest work rate in the team next to flamini. He covers the whole left flank and participates in every defending opportunity. You can’t say that about helb and van persie, which is among players with lower workrate in the team.
I forgot about the dancing, that was amazing.
Overall though, I don’t agree he is a good passer, I don’t agree he plays two positions becuase he plays both positions badly.
Combine that with his theatrics and cheating and you have a pretty tosh player.
He is not a good player and he wouldn’t be fit to lace the boots of Romford Ray.
does anyone followed randall, he looked magical in our last game. Who is he?
Does anyone think Yaya is a bit like a poor mans Paddy?
In the same way bouba diop was?
I’ve not really seen him play that much… so a bit of enlightenment would be appreciated!
It’s so difficult to split, I think we should have TWO Chumps of the Season
1) Flamini – we put up with three seasons of average performances, Wenger shows faith in him to allow him to come through and put in a great season and what thanks do we all get. I think it will be the same story all over again and those far fields will be brown rather than greener
2) Hleb – Ditto as above, except that in spite of his pretty football at times he disappeared in matches. Also the end result was just not there; 4 goals in 42 matches is just not good enough for an attacking player – just remember the contributions of Llunjberg, Pires, Overmars etc etc.
Hopefully we will get some money for Hleb now and as long as Wenger can bring himself to spend some money and bring in the right replacements eg YaYa Toure, Ben Arfa, Micah Richards then I think the two s***bags above will have done us a favour and we will be even stronger next season.
One caveat to this is we must see a significant amount of games out of Rosicky & Van Persie. Much as I like them both, another season permanently occupying the treatment table will be the last straw
the only person with any right to hate Eboue is John Terry, tackled by Eboue – out for 6 weeks. Not even a foul!
pedro surely theres your answer!! just doing that gets him another season in my book!!! john terry… what a cunt
he was great against the mancs in the champions legue.he loves to get foward n recovers very quickly but his weakness is that he does not have a shot in him.
His last 2 season apart PV04 was a one off, Yaya however whould be an adequate addition, very good on the ball . have to improve defensively though IMO….
Pedro
I think Yaya is a poor man’s Paddy, but paddy was the best player in the world, yaya is still a very good player and many Barcelona fans’ player of the season. I’d be surprised if they do let him go but if Guardiola doesn’t like him then I’d be very happy for us to snap him up.
Joseph – Whats happened to Flamini? High work rate, agreed, but then he nicked off for greed! also, he cant be like flamini – He had one good season. You would be lucky if Eboue had a good month!
Eboue Only coveres the whole RIGHT flank cos everyones scared to come near him – Even our manager! That would be an advantage had Eboue had any ball skills.
Finest, i agree that Eboue could still help us win, if he was left on the bench! But thats a waste of space.
Look, im sorry all you Eboue fans out there, but the majority want Eboue gone, and for a good reason! He Wastes a spot on the team that Theo has been wanting all year!! He should go to Italy, since they want him so badly – reason being that should the be able to gain his citizenship and he can play for ther national team, hed fit in nicely – Unable to play football so they cheat until awarded a penalty!
One Good thing about him this season, and that was when he and ade took the mickey out of earnshaw.. but that was it!
Timao, your surname isn’t Timao Eboue? Actually, in Timao’s corner for a milli second, Eboue does seem to be used by AW as a spare parts/stop gap when injuries come into play. And that year as right back in the CL when we made the final hewas sensational. He did have an “assist” to Sol for our goal when he got fouled. But he needs to bloody score.
i would like to have a look at yaya when hes on the counterattack and his movement in midfield.does anyone know a link..???
Hiya all!!
Totally enjoyed the Le Chump list and as much as Flamingo pissed us all off, Bigraddy had a point (9:14am),anyone would have done the same thing in his position. Did he at any point slag off his team members?
Also on the list of le Chump Geoff/Pedro, I think you should have added the “Ade-Haters Club” to the list, cos he had so much stick from them all season like it was his fault we lost out this season.
Maybe a Le Chump cartegory for the worst/most annoying bloggers? lol
You win T-Buzz !!!!
yes pedro he has his flaws and i dont rate him too highly , but ive got to say i have less a problem with him that some other player .. people are in the team differing reasons , and
he seems to do less detrimental things for the team that a certain other player ..
i hope we get yaya . he seems to want to join
http://www.soccernews.com/yaya-wants-to-join-brother-kolo-at-arsenal/1996/
sounds coming out from spain are a good start .
theo-cesc- yaya- rosicky
for next seasons midfield starters, that doesnt look too ugly ..
Champ of the season Ade. For coming straight out and putting the tabloid cunts in thier place when they wrote the shit about him leaving, Scoring more goals than Torres and being slagged by so many of his own teams fans. Chump the media in general but a special mention to that cunt in the standard Mathew norman and Terry christain (Love to stab that dirty manc).
http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/kind=2/newsid=695646.html
just when you have a sec when your not bashing that useless toe rag!!
Fair shout T-buzz… so why did he tell Arsene he was staying all year?
He must have been becuase Diarra was allowed to leave.
I have no problem with leaving for another club, just own up to what you are doing. Don’t let people get there hopes up.
That is why he is fully justified as Le Chump of the season.
Oi Bud!! lol
Barcelona are looking for a RB, Eboue + cash for Yaya , what do you guys reckon ?
Hey Ollie, the above comment regarding Ray Parlour was irony, I would certainly not count myself as “an Eboue fan”. I recognise what he could do for our team, that we can play a covert 5-3-2 and still win games, that he makes Sagna and Fabregas look good but to me he’s a poor substitute for a top player. He’s tough, he’s quick but if you need someone to change the game, we’re one player short of someone who can do that when he’s on.
He’s OK for when we don’t have any proper wingers available or if we want to add some fresh legs and try to lock a game up in the last half hour. I don’t envisage him as a regular starter and I believe we’ll be suitably equipped with players for his role next season.
If we’re in a situation where we have nothing better available, or we need a sub to help us defend a win, sure he could be useful, but I doubt Eboue will ever get 31 starts for Arsenal in a season again.
To be fair though pedro he could well have been totally honest with us, having not decided either way until it came out that he was going to Milan
Come on we didn’t did our part to renew his contract last year. How can we blame him for taking a higher offer? We are disappointed that true and we disappointed because he is a good player. He oftens played better than cesc when cesc was a bit jade after december. Now he is gone, I would wish him good luck and bye. And by looking at a Song in the last few games, I am not overly concern about DM for the next season. It would be nice if we can get a player to replace helb and add a worldclass center back though.
How come no one pay attention to workrate? The england team suck so bad because their work rate is so low when playing as a team.
I’d still much much rather have Eboue as a sub right back than Hoyte. Eboue I’m sure would still be very good in his proper position, whereas Hoyte is a bit of a waste of space
Eboue’s cheating & injuries feigning whould fit in nicely in La Liga
Flamini is a total cunt.where is the loyalty..?the funs have given him support the whole season yet the best way for the cunt to repay us was to leave for the money.his excuse being the loss in form in march.such a silly excuse.def the game in milan gave him a reason to stay….pedro i totally support u in giving him a bashing .he should learn from anelka &henry.
Abdenor: yes fucking please, but hard to believe Barca are complete mugs
I don’t think we should soul-search too much over Hleb and particularly Flamini. The wage structure is there for a reason, and Flamini wasn’t worth breaking it for, Henry was, Cesc is, but that cunt no. Both of them had a better than usual season and it makes me think that both wanted away this summer all season, and simply put themselves in the shop window. Talk of disliking city life, or the distress of slumping this season and not winning is a smokescreen: they wanted/want a move to Italy, more cash, different league. Fuck them, fuck them in their fucking arses, I don’t want them at Arsenal and don’t regret for a second them leaving/about to leave. Neither won us the league this season so them moving on gives us opportunities to try players that can
Yeah Pedro, youre not wrong there…
At the same time I think Wenger needs to firm up as he is too soft with most of these players and he really shouldnt have let the likes of Diarra leave. Do you think Fergie would have easily said,”Off you go boyo”.A bit of hair dryer treatment may do the trick.
yes t – buzz ,
you are right about 1 thing !
it was the reason we lost the title race ..
11 games not scoring a goal !! FUCKING USELESS
And during that time we went from 5 points UP to 6 points DOWN !
so go figure !
Bit hard to win games when your ACE striker (cough..) doesnt score !!
do you seem to remember a little fact like arsenals biggest goal drought
of wengers reign !! being mentioned??
i guess not …
Firming up like this…
“Jose took the phone and put it on loudspeaker and said: ‘OK, seeing as we are not kids we are going to talk. I trusted you – I’ve done everything for you and there you are telling me you’re going to the dentist in Paris when in fact you’re in Milan talking over your transfer. You lied to me. You didn’t keep your word. Have you been badly brought up or what?’”
Mourinho was so angry that he ordered Drogba to train with the Blues reserves.
And the former Marseille man underwent the humiliation of turning out for the second team against West Ham the following night.
How can you blame if our player wants to play in a different league? ENGLAND players fucking break their legs. Blame your stupid referee and so call passion.
Finest – If he comes good next season, ill be supprised… He may be a poor sub, but why has he been keeping Theo out of the team? Im not trying to slag you off, i just dont know why so many people are putting faith in him – I found your comment odd… Maybe im blind, but i sinceerly doubt it. BTW, if hes tough, why doesnt he show it instead of falling over all the time!
Frank, you won’t be missed.
With Flamini as well – If you look at it from his point of view you could see why he might have wanted to leave for non-monetary reasons -
He filled in fantastically at left back in the champions league season, was always asking for a run in the team in midfield but before this season never got it, and wanted a new contract last summer but the club weren’t forthcoming and didn’t give him any sort of offer. Arsene was forced to give him his chance with Gilberto away after the Copa America and took it. He could think that he just showed Arsene that he should have played him in his actual position sooner, and the refusal to offer him a contract in the summer pissed him off to the extent that he wasn’t gonna sign one after….
Just a different way to look at things
Joseph, I’m not blaming Flamini for going to Milan.
I am blaming him for leaving us in the lurch. Do people really believe the Flamster only realised last week he wanted to go to Milan?
Rubbish…
People break their legs in other countries too…
Good blog today boys.
Whats the point of having Eboue as a back up right back when Kolo plays there, then, Gallas takes Kolo’s place then Song take Gallas’s place. Too much disruption cost us in the last part of the season when Bacary got injured.
Pedro
Yeah I think there is no way for anyone other than Flamini to know when he decided he wanted to go to Milan. Why could it not have been last week?!
Hey Bud,
Your contact who actually gave us some pretty good news was wrong about Rosicky wasn’t he!
I wonder how long his op will keep him out for?
He still played 35 + games this year which isn’t bad for him is it?
A,
If you were offered £60k a week tax free + a £2million signing on fee in December from AC Milan, how long would it take you to decide that £50k a week before tax was crap?
About 6 seconds I reckon.
If he had told Arsene that he was going in December, he would have been dropped.
Remember Edu?
Ollie, Wenger claimed Walcott wasn’t 100% ready to take on that role full time yet and that now he is, so I don’t think getting into a panic over Eboue’s future role is necessary, he will be a fringe player for us, another Justin Hoyte.
The earliest I can see Eboue leaving is next season when his deal expires.
Joseph, its the manner that Flamini did it. I don’t demand complete loyalty from players: if they want to try their luck elsewhere then fair enough, but there’s no reason beyond money for Flamini to leave. He claimed his place in midfield, formed a successful partnership with Cesc, and had the potential with the team to go and win things. But no, he ummed and arred and kept us guessing all season long. Stupid said it became apparent that he was going to leave to those in the know around Xmas, and United apparently made enquiries. What sort of effect does that have team spirit? It must have been obvious to the team that Hleb wanted away too and without good leadership forthcoming from Gallas you can look at that and say that may be the reason we slumped and failed to win. You can’t be sure the cunts even wanted to win the league. Fuck them both
Frank, plenty of discussion going on here… now keep to your word and piss off.
Joseph – What nationality is Theo mate?
Oh, i seem to recall Theo taking on the whole Liverpool team, running, dodging and weaving though the pitch 70m and then passing to ade, who scores.
I also seem to recall that be was brought on as a substitute.
I also recall that He Replaced Eboue, who had been useless all game..
Eboue has had chances at an open goal, but he hasnt scored!!
look around.. there will be clips of proof of the chances that hes had!
Well it depends, it wasn’t as simple as that, football issues still have an impact. Any of our top players could move and make alot more money but most choose not to….
I personally don’t think it was weighing up this amount against that amount, but was Flamini having been mistreated previously in his eyes saying “well now you actually want me I want a real show of faith by giving me a special contract”
flamini was offered like £100k – £120k and he didn’t get the offer in December. AC wasn’t looking before we killed them in CL.
He is about to move to a club that is getting no Champions league, I think that is a signal that it was a money decision.
If he was so miffed at his treatment, he would have left last season.
Joseph, he wanted away all season long, and other teams became aware he wasn’t going to re-sign in December. Its a shoddy way to treat the club and fans, and repay the faith of the manager, and he did because of money. But carry on defending him and his character, but I think it will fall on deaf ears from the majority on this blog
Theo was great. It was our goal of the season. That’s doesn’t clean the blood stint on the english football field and FA.
Noone wanted him last summer though, and there were alot of rumours that he’d be off, there just wasn’t enough time to find a buyer after Diarra signed. He left when it looked like Milan would get champions league….
Flamini would be damned by me if he used webster clause. We got Sol Campbell the same way. We got to be fair to everyone.
Ferrara was asked, during an interview with Tuttosport, whether Juve’s failure to sign the 24-year-old showed that the club was no longer capable of attracting top-class players.
“No, I simply think that the Frenchman chose to join Milan because the Rossonero club offered him more money,”
He supported Juve as a kid…
Mark Meier fuck off you wanker, you’re not welcome, go and play on arsenal.com or playstation you silly little twit.
For someone who said he’d never come on the blog again, he is mighty persistent…
Pedro, he is the ref at the training ground, so he is usually pretty reliable – however, he is a ref !!!!!!
In fairness to him, Wenger even said that Rosicknote was not a bad injury…. seems everyone got that wrong !
Anyway, whilst talking about Rosicky, i’d rather Hleb left and he stayed if he can sort out his hamstrings…… he drives forward, has skill and scores goals, Hleb goes left and right and round and round, but never forward !!!!!!!
Come on Pedro, if a Big company out of no where comes out and offers you double salary, would you leave?
Can we please leave one posting from each nob-head on please before baring, it is actually fairly amusing to laugh at pond life, but you never give us the chance to actually see what proper wankers they are !!!!!!!!
On that has that Swedish Stats bloke been back recently???
Joseph… read what I said!
He has had big offers since January… so he had an inkling he was going to leave!
Tell us in January of your intentions, don’t leave it till now.
I don’t think that is very classy.
finest
i agree theo will be 1st choice next season ..
eboue will be gone .. or backup …
theo was ready at the start of the season if you ask me , he just needed time to settle
the sooner he had the time on the pitch the sooner he would have settled ..
i think 99% of us would rather see walcott there than eboue so i dont think any eboue haters need to worry about him playing regularly in the future …the writing on the wall !
Last night Bud, he listed the percentage chance of getting the people on my silly season list!
That must have taken a while!
Hleb always reminds me of the Jack Russels that are featured on those Harry Hill outake programes that come on and don’t give the ball back.
Flamini is far more expendable than any of the greats we had in midfield before him, it’s time for someone better. A fully fit Gilberto being an example of someone better than Flamini. With Gilberto, Denilson and Diaby available I don’t think there is any need to be concerned.
I’m interested in our first CL lineup, I think we should play a similar team to what we did at the end of the season. Also, the WC qualifiers will give valuable experience to players like Song.
Besides that there will be fitness tests before the games to see how the tournament has effected the players, so I can’t see a good excuse for us not getting through to the group stages. We’ve used players such as Justin Hoyte to good effect in games like that.
heres another one for your list pedro
http://www.comeonboro.com/matches/07089701.php
Joseph, I wouldn’t for double as I’m loyal and not a greedy whore.
Just a quick-point,but looking over the season just gone. The thing that hurts me the most is that we’ve been pretty much been cheated out of the title again.dubious reffering dicissions against us gorls disallowed, penalties not given.then look at man u and chelsea have pretty much gone out cheating and nothings been said.Ronaldo scoring the winning goal against us was never a free kick, the penalty man u got at wigan was never a penalty. The penalty liverpoll got against us,that never was.The two we should have been awarded against them; This is the tip of the iceburg
I respect your loyalty Geoff. Fully.
Thanks Joseph!
Gervinho is added…
Joseph unlike Geoff I probably would, but I’d tell the company I work for and the people I work with and if my company had millions of loyal fans that loved me and depended on me to make their week by my company winning I wouldn’t string them along for months, but tell them and go quickly
Because a football club is more than just a company and footballers acting the way Flamini has can’t be compared to being headhunted. I don’t know how much time we dedicated to writing about Flamini on this blog but I reckon its a lot and most of it has been will he/won’t he, and for what he has done to us the fans I hate him and if you can’t see that I’d question your claim to be an Arsenal fan
Noone can know whether Flamini decided on the day he flew out to Milan, or a year ago – it’s absolutely impossible to know either way!! So to condemn him as if people do know is pretty silly….
Arsenal career total statistics – Eboue (Age 24)
Total Appearences – 104
Total Goals – 2
Total Assists – 12
This is over FOUR years
Arsenal Career Statisics – Walcott (Age 19)
Total Appearences – 70
Total Goals – 8
Total Assists – 12
This is over TWO years
Theo has less Appeaences than Eboue, has been here for half the time Eboue has, has scored 4x the ammount of goals, and equalled the ammount of assists IN HALF THE TIME!!
Admittedly, this is off Wikipedia, but this looks reliable (Have refreshed seveal times, no mysterious changes…)
Check it out here for yourselves!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmanuel_Ebou%C3%A9#Arsenal_career_statistics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_Walcott#Club_career_statistics
Which player would you rather have?
Yeah I agree Ethan but lets cast our memories back deeper into the season when Theo had confidence issues, so Wenger wanted to get him playing drop by drop since a bunch of bad performances without any previous Arsenal form could’ve made him a faliure, he was being gentle.
There was even talk of Theo going back on loan to get to boost his confidence, but the way he has turned out is because of how Wenger broke him in. Walcott has benefited from Rosicky’s absences and has proved he can perform the job to a similarly high standard, with his own dynamic style.
If Arsenal had won either the Champions League, the Premiership or both would Flamini have stayed or would he have used his success to get more money at another club?
Well said Jimmy.
I also don’t buy the whole money issue.
Footballers get fantastic wages at the expense of the fans. It’s not like he was struggling for money at Arsenal.
When you earn that type of money because the fans pay to watch you, I think you can at least have the decency to let them know what you are planning to do.
Like Jimmy said, there is a difference in working for a football team and working for a corporate enterprise.
David if we’d have won the Champion league and the Premiership he would have left and said the challenge was over… we lost and he said it was becuase of the hurt…
We were in a lose lose situation.
I don’t think flamster really wanted to leave until maybe last 2 months of the season, for that alone i’d spare him any bashing .
I think his performances in CL vs Milan has won him a dream contract , only a fool would turn that down and who’s to say AW was not aware of the whole situation even back then, Arsene tell lot of porkies sometimes and i for one don’t beleive AW thought Flam was staying!
You can’t really compare the two using stats like that Olli – For one Eboue made the majority of his appearances at right back, and secondly when playing in midfield Eboue was infinitely better defensively than Theo….
It would be better to compare the two this season stats wise, in which Theo is also far superior, although again Eboue defensively was much much stronger, and as has been stated gave Sagna much more freedom. There is also the argument as to whether Theo would have got the goals and assists he has if he started, rather than coming on later in the game fresher and against tiring opposition, which is how Wenger thought it was best to use him most of the season.
olli3, as much as I dislike Eboue how many apperances were at right back?
I supported Flamini and Eboue for their contribution to our success this season. Their exceptional workrate reformed our defend (This season we won by defending from up top and early)
I am not worry about Flamini leaving as DM is cheap in transfer market. Song is pretty good too.
Yes, Eboue will be replaced by Theo. Theo scored our goal of the season. Still, right now, Eboue is still better than Theo in defending. When Theo starts, we will need more defend from other position to cover for him. Therefore we need a world class center back.
PS I admire Benites ability to discover good center back. I think he is better than Wenger in this regard.
come on jimmy, you know i love arsenal from my post.
Hmmm, true guys… Im not against Eboue playing at right back, Just not stealing better players positions! Yes Hes great defensivly – Because hes a DEFENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok, ill drop it for now.. lets move on!
Jimmy – Great points. much more sense admitting then your leaving, then telling your manager that your staying, or at least giving him that impression, taking a vow of silece to the fans, then nicking off!!
Can i Completely change the subject and ask which EURO teams people ae going for?
I don’t think Eboue had anything to do with our success this season.
The emergence of Sagna and Clichy had something to do with it. Ade upping his goal tally to thirty had something to do with it as did Cescs 17 assists and 10 or so goals.
Eboue works hard, but so does Rosicky… Flamini works hard, but you can’t knock Gilberto’s form last year.
Our form was not down to Eboue’s work rate, which I don’t buy anyway…
I will take some stick for this so here goes, we lost only 3 games this season and both away to our biggest rivals where we wasn’t expecting to win. Chavski away we were leading then the best right back in the league got injured, they scored an offside equaliser and AW made some poor gameplay decisions late on that allowed them to come at us. The Mancs away I didn’t see the game because I hate them so much but didn’t they gat a Pen. Boro away was a shocker. The draws to poxy little Red nose mates clubs undid us again and the Pool at home game when they had a poor team out and AW in my opinion gave up on the Prem and played the likes of Hoyte, Toure , Eboue and Traore together. Playing the Spanish waiter Coco instead of Jens almost all seasons was a joke. The flamini saga, The Hleb affair and Eboue playing right wing is a joke. Le Chump of the year for me is with AW. Le Champ of the year The one and only boy wonder Cesc Fabregas.
pedro cesc has 19 assists.. the highest in the PL….
Why don’t players have Notice Periods written into their contracts like people in all other industries do……. then this problem would be sorted once and for all !
Joseph, I question that only because you refuse to see our point of view and instead defend a player that has treated Arsenal shoddily. There’s a right way and a wrong way, and Flamini did it the wrong way, end of
PV04
seem to think we might lose cesc ..
well gotta admit he could be right if arsene don’t sign adequate replacements
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_soccerblog/2008/05/former-star-ars.html
I think that is the point of the webster law Bud?
Football is exempt from loads of employment law I think…
Pedro, you are right in a sense that it is not only eboue. Defending is a teamwork. Cesc was underrated in his defending too.
But I think you will agree our success due to our newly deploy full court press defending? no?
I made Flamini chump of the year because he’s been average at best for 3 years, has one good season and repays that patience with two fingers to the club and the fans.
The money he’s taking from the pimps at Milan isn’t double what we offered him, so he got chump.
Not to mention the damage it’s done to the rest of the team, all now thinking they can fuck off.
I wish him no luck, greedy bastard, we should have known, he’s done it before. Slag, he had a big nose anyway.
lol….El Tel
When was the last Arsenal – Mancscum game you watched …haha
Eboue is a cog we can slip into the team which will keep the machine working, but won’t produce much working product. In that sense he is useful, but he definitely isn’t a “total football” player. most people aren’t familiar with the actual philosophy of “total football” which is what we aim to play:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Football
The reason why Eboue isn’t is because he is a “negative” player meaning his role is to negate the opposition and get the ball through to attacking players. A total footballer can attack and defend, like Gallas, Toure, Clihy, Sagna….all our other defensive players.
Flamini wasn’t a “total football” player either, he was great defensively but he relied too much upon other players to finish things off, he could have taken a more central role himself. Flamini is a “comfort zone” player, he wasn’t everything adjusted to his way of doing things. At Arsenal we want 50/50 types, players who don’t have a problem playing where they’re asked, and someone who can fulfill any role they find themselves with on the pitch. In that sense, Gilberto is far far superior.
Milan will give him Flamini “comfort” he requires, he doesn’t have to prove himself again, 4 years at Milan, guaranteed cash with a joining on fee and even if he has a shit time there, other teams will also offer him long term contracts one he’s finished there.
Flamini is a good cog as well, but he goes against the “total football” philosophy of having the most technically skilled and fastest players on the pitch, he was a workhorse that relied on others to do what he himself couldn’t if need be. A bigger player such as Gilberto would have made a more positive contribution with goals when needed instead of blaming others around him for not getting a trophy.
Not only that, as a defensive midfielder our defensive problems are partly attributed to him, so please lets move on and get someone better, because Flamini is a 6/10 player, we need an 8/10 at least for that position. Flamini is a product of our training, we taught him to play as well as he has, we can do the same with a player who has more technical skill and the same work ethic.
The reason I believe AW is spinning positives is because he can actually see the fanbase starting to turn on him. It could be a blessing and a kick up the arse Aw needs to show us what a brilliant Manager he really is. Aw has dropped his guard a bit and become to nice to our opponents. He was the dogs do dahs when he was sniping with old red nose and co. Please come back the real AW you have built another good/great team, don’t fuck it up.
Abdenor I was working at the home game and managed to throw 3 of the tossers out for celebrating in our end. It was the game when old Coco decided to take a walk in the park and we got picked off. The away game this season is the only one I didn’t watch, after the cheating I have seen over the past 2 seasons I decided to not watch any match other than our games.
Slightly off topic, but just read this and thought it was quite good.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2008/05/14/ufnkapo114.xml
i agree geoff the logical choice is flamoney ..
club loyalty – lack of overall commitment – putting personal gain before his club -
but the biggest reason for making him le chump was just the sheer long winded-ness of the whole thing ..
the damage it did to players like hleb – and the possibility that it will unsettle cesc also !
he already wears the crown if you ask me …
Nice to hear good things about Bertie, he truly is world class and it must have been terrible for him this season. Bertie clearly wasn’t happy and he obviously needs a run of games for him to be match ready. Not once can I remember Bertie slagging us off. What a real pro this man is and a better player than most realise.
Good discussion guys.
Bye from asia. Leaving for dinner now. Will check again tonight.
Hope Chelski and Manu both loses in the CL Final. Ciao
Good on you El Tel….. I reckon we’re both in agrement that coco is not really Arsenal material and a ready made top keeper should be brought in to walk straight into the team as young Fab is a couple of years away from being ready.
“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.
( Matthew 7:1-5) ”
not that I’m one for bible quotes, but this one makes a rather good point.
it’s very easy to sit in an armchair and judge others.
1st – Eboue : sick to the bollox looking at him, producing fuck all game after game
2nd – Flamini : greedy shit. May he get what he deserves
3rd – Senderos : simply for the disastrous night at Anfield (that really hurt)
See you later Joseph.
If Chris is watching this, where is that site that values your domain name?
Geoff said it was worth more than $30 now!
Johan Djourou, Mr. Anonymous in our team, does anyone have a point of view about him?
Ben the whole point of this blog is that we judge all things Arsenal.
I don’t think they knew about blogs when they penned the bible. If they did, I think they would have been pretty appalled about Flamini’s treatment of the Gooner faithful.
Do they mention Greed in the bible?
II Peter 2:3 – (false prophets) “in their greed they will exploit you with false words”
The bible talks sense.
hwo about gomez the PSV gk.he would fit in perfect……
Too much!
Matty Flamini has only been a good player for us. Remember this time last year he was not even in the squad and was apparently being foisted upon Birmingham (only slightly better than the Bastille). Did he complain? Did he write in the press “oh woe is me”. Nope he got his head down and proved that with regular starts he could be a good player. How well has Bertie played this year without a regular run in the team?
Chump of the year has to be Eboue for being such a tosser or if it proves true – then Helb for making excuses to get a transfer. But not Matty Flamini. All the best and thanks
Hey Ben, if I wanted a sermon I’d go to church, I don’t, work the rest out.
Let he who has never sinned cast the first stone…I haven’t , so I can.
Same book says…an eye for an eye and fight fire with fire. I do, getting my drift?
So I read somewhere we are going to be the face of Vietnamese milk… I just hope the deal doesn’t turn sour…
Oh my, I am so funny!
So Ade is off on tour around West Africa, he is taking his dancing global apparently.
Keegan has put a £15mill price tag on his Nigerian wonder boy.
What do we think of that?
if it were nt for wenger flamini would have been shit.thanks alot flam.my salute to you “the midle finger”
Gomes would be a good signing for us
Great call Kenyan! like your spirit.
Ricardo, yes he did, he said Wenger was disrespectful, so pick the bones out of that one.
Did Wenger cut his salary when he was shit for the 3 previous years? …no.
El Tel… Gomes is very dodgy.
15 mil is just too much.maybe around 7mil.we could get a better deal with smario.2nd top scorer bundesliga for just 10 mil.we could get a bargaoing when u factor in jens as part of the deal.
the latest rumour for signings i hear we were getting Stepanovs for CB, Shaaban for GK and Jeffers for ST…u guys happy with that?
Very funny Pedro, does this mean we will sign a Vietnamese nobody ?
Martins wouldn’t appease me, is he 50 or is he 23 ?
yeah right…anyway, the rumour mill is definitely hotting up, i just wish the next 2 weeks would evaporate so we can find out who some of the real ones are!
If Keegan values each of Ade’s goals at half a million each then sure, but the cost of replacing him would be much more than that so it depends on the value a team sees in him. Ade would not fetch less than 20 on the market today, Barca and Milan inflating the price due to bidding wars.
aH aH Evo and we are told AW is great in the transfer market. I reckon for every unpolished jewel he signs he gets 2 duds. Are there ant geeks who can list every signing AW has made so we could pick the bones from it.
Pedro Gomes looked good aaginst us pal and he has CL experience. Get Alex from the Chavs and reunite them. If you have seen Gomes regularly then I value your opinion. We do need a keepre though. Jussi anyone.
If and I don’t want to temp fate If Fabregas is out for as long as RVP next season., I think we will throw the whole season and all these “new signings” down the drain.
I feel we are a one man team to a degree or a long ball team (like Everton away) we need a Cesc back up. Is Barry the answer to Flamini going and as Cescs back up if not who is?
I think you should have included Arsene Wenger in the list of Le-Chump…who else would say we deserved to win after 5-1 bashing against Spuds? Who else would keep defending below-average players like Eboue? Who else would let Diarra go when Flamini had not signed the contract? Who else would never spend money to buy quality players and say that his players are too good when they are not???
Le Champ–Of course CESC FABREGAS….he will be the best player in the world in 2 seasons along with Messi…

Dave Bentley could be on his way back to North London!
http://www.tottenhamquakers.org.uk/history/Tott1800s005.html
Piece of cake Mr. Bentley?
I watched the villareal game on the weekend, watching Pires run around stroking the ball and setting up all the plays, getting into the box and scoring goals, it was sensational!
david u are brilliant.it would def kick us in our nuts if cesc was out.we need some utility player in midfield to back cesc and be our DM.barry would be good.cash+hoyte/sanderos would do…wat do u reckon?
PEDRO!

if you use windows xp the latest update killed my pc at the weekend keeps re-booting, ill advise everybody to copy/back up files you know you cant live with out,
complete re-install lost everything,
15k turkish lira….no 15k sterling!
So whats every1 gonna watch this weekend, FA cup?
i know odub i saw it and commented, thansks for the concise review!
downloaded rambo the other night, bloody hell serious stuff, but now i am going to actual pay for a movie in the cinema, sex and the city and ken if you are on, i know but what can i do!
Choy, that makes us the 3rd biggest Arsenal blog site and we only started in September! Way to go Grovers and if you count comments against stories we’d be the biggest!
We need to decide who to keep out of the young players coming through like Hoyte Denilson, Senderos, Djourou, even Diaby. and if we can use whoever we don’t want as bait for better players like a couple of those for Barry I would not get too upset about as we have plenty of players coming through like Traore and Randall.
Controversial question time – what the hell are Welsh clubs doing in the English FA Cup competition and our leagues come to think of it, especially as they have their own FA????
Does this not open the door for the likes of Rangers, Celtic etc to join the English Leagues, or indeed Man U, Arsenel etc to join La Liga????
Oh and i almost forgot, c’mon Pompey stuff those leek wearing monkeys!!
geoff look at the amount of comments yesterday and the season is over, fantastic stuff,
goodluck with that one mate!! thankfully her in doors knows better than to drag me along to watch such dross!!
I seem to remember Le Grove being worth about 5 quid previously!!
It’s getting to a stage where I dont even know half the regulars on here anymore, I don’t blog for 2/3 days and all of a sudden it’s all change!
Great work Pedro/Geoff!! I owe you both a peroni at the next S&B gathering!
Any new speculations about today?
i have been trying to decode wengers message on the players he is likely to buy.firstly,he says experiemced players in the premiership.the area wenger is keen to improve is the defence which he says is a major concern when it comes to high balls.I think he will sighn a premiership defender.most likely”mancities Richards” 2ndly he would buy the rest on the cheap maybe a”arfa”he has been linked with us for a long time….anyone tried to decode it?
song going to west brom on loan
no offer for martins to keegan
rumours aplenty,
irish sports radio was buzzing about dunne last night, saying there has been contact from arsenal and that he wants chapions league football so spurs and new castle are not options,
Le chump no doubt is Flamster for me . The picture of three of them(FLAm, Hleb and Cesc) smiley, happy and laughing on the last game at Emirates is embedded ni my head. 2 of them knowing they R leaving, and at the meantime US agonizing in wait 4 their decision …what morale this people have -no moral values at all.
Would he stayed he should be the Champ though…..
Cheers Chris and Odub, the great thing is we do it all because we wanted to have a moan if we felt like it, as well as debate who we sign etc, but have met great guys like you along the way, I can’t imagine not doing it now!
Didn’t Villa want Hoyte this year? a bit of horse trading there me thinks!
after the uk it is america that is reading here the most, that is very interesting,
Nothing new then, and we still have no real inkling as to who Le Boss is going to buy!
The anticipation is killing me!! Defo think one will be a CB and the other maybe an out and out right winger…There’s a chap at Villareal who looks a bit tasty!!
what about the oz fellas chris, plus we’ve got the african and asian massive as well!
Fuck me LE Grove’s gone worldwide!
Anyone know what happened to Steve btw?! He just vanished !
I thing we all know where Bentley is going ……..man ure.
they R looking 4 a winger -Ferguson said, and he buys all english nationals so thats easy to guess
On the subject of Cardiff in the FA cup, a Cardiff player was banned from the cup final beacause of what he done in England, goes to the Welsh FA they overturn it to allow him to play in the English FA cup final.
How does that work?
Pascal Cygan is that the guy you are talking about Odub?
Yes Geoff and Pedro -well done. Your blog is the best-hats down. I dont find it interesting to blog anywhere else to be honest.
I currently work in Brussels, does that count for worldwide too??
Heeeeeeellllll no chris!! Just can’t get over the feeling of pure excitement when I saw Pires play for us (not that kind of excitement thank you!!)
Mentioned it yesterday, I’d take a tricky winger that smashes the odd goal in from 30 yards any day!
Is this Ben Afra chap like that? Dont know anything about him at all
Thanks Arsenaldo. Chris I’m there next week, I’ll ask them! Odub his office server wont let him post, we mail him though, he comes on at weekends.
fuck if i know, i am really going to have to pay attention to the other leagues
def dennis am in kenya somewhere in africa.u guyz we have massive support here.Almost all guyz here love the gunners.
About YAYA rumours -I watched about 8-10 Barca games this season but wasnt inmpressed too much, although he played very well for Ivory Coast in the world cup.
I think so Dennis, any news on Kompany?
Arsenaldo, I blogged on this site and another (cant remember which) on the first day I decided to start blogging, never been back to the other one!
Top crowd on here mate, even the nutters are a laugh!
Shame about that Geoff, hopefully we get him back on soon because he’s one of the originals!!
Odub , Ben Arfa is exactly that type of a player and would love to see him with us
He came to the small and B and told Pedro he was working on it, he reads I think, but the bad language filter in the comments does him, fuck knows why, we don’t swear!
Chris, good lord man there has to be a way out of that one, break your own leg if necessary..
Tottenham are being linked with everyone and his cunt I mean dog. Bentley, Eto’o, Keith Chegwin……….its a definate wind up but I doubt much will come of it. You can smell the spuds desperation though, which isn’t a great bargaining position. Prices will go up because of it and they will lose Berbatov. Maybe we hould buy him
Back to Eto’o, shows how much his star has waned that he says he wants to come to the Premiership and its spuds not ManU/Arse/Pool/Chavs being linked with him
gunnersaurus
phobia
an steve
steve
mike the neighbour
MIA
look i got away with ps i love you, when we are together ken she is at home watching teh bloody box set, if it becomes availble for download i am there, may be a camcorder job will surfice,
ken is in russia now by the way guys!
haha, an steve is my boss, he can’t keep up anymore!
It was a shame to lose Mike the Neighbour and steve. Phobia still come on with his match predictions.
Ahh, those were the days!
Brian, (family guy)
“So… it’s a show about three hookers and their mom?”
I agree Odub. Im not a blogger type but this is something differrent and I got hooked:))) Although I havent got time to enter long discussions I enjoy reading it and posting my thoughts now and then. I wish I could do it everyday like most of you guys , but am not my own boss if you know what I mean.
I like the sense of a Arsenal family that is here as well.
Geoff – It’s all over the press here now, even on the radio news.
He’s definately a class act, but it’s those injuries that worry me.
Its 11.00pm EST 14/05/08 here in OZ, & still no signings. I’d like to echo the praise poured on this blog, & now say over & out, its been great reading tonight.
Hey Pedro my avatar is working again. You bloody beaudy!!!
what happened to Mike the neighbour? Got plenty of wine left to recommend to him
Cheers Arsenaldo, defo getting setanta for next season, the only foriegn footie you get on Sky is La Liga, not that that’s not worth it!
Yeah Pedro, there used to be 10ish regulars, and the odd knobhead, and we’d all gangup on the twat!! Oh the fun of it!!
jimmy i think he is in london, he comes on sometimes,
chris, 3 hookers and their mum?!! is this said show available on normal telly?!!!
Jimmyfingers – I got to put up with loads of bagel eaters out here, and they’re all banging on about swapping Berbatov for Eto’o…………done deal apparently if you listen to these losers. But, i gotta agree with you, it was only a couple o’ years ago he was touted as the worlds best CF, now he’s reduced to the possibility of going to N17…..
jimmy i agree…
i have throughly enjoyed listening to my tottenham mates telling me that we’re fucked and that they’ll sign eto’o… if they get him it just goes to show the decline he’s in
on the bbc gossip page they linked tottenham with eto’o and bentley… both for 15 mil!!! how are they even in the same price bracket
What’s all this about Yaya Toure wanting to come to the Arse?!
Just noticed in the gumff from Hleb’s neignbour (well actually I didn’t notice it, football365 did) that he talks of wanting to leave London for somewhere calmer, then says Hleb is of interest to all clubs, like Barca and Madrid. Errrrrr, fairly sure they are cities, and of the big variety too. Double cunt
Is it only la liga U get on sky???
there is a massive clear out expected odub, he has been rumoured, but i cant see it,
Arsenaldo – I totally agree, i wasn’t really a blogger, but came across what looked like an interesting story and was hooked. Excellent discussions, no wankers, just good debate, well done to everyone………….the only thing missing is a cold beer and a packet of pork scratchings!
Possibly not in Russia much longer Chris, I’ll explain another time. Good post lads, some very humorous stuff especially “swap him for Ya Ya or 10 Woodbines and a book of matches”. Classic. Anyway its sleep time here so toodle-ooow till tomorrow.
Mike’s in La Manga and I just emailed him to shame him!
that is an excellent point jimmyfingers, the hypocritcal bastard
Yeah Arsenaldo that the EPL obviously and for some reason theyve started showing poxy Irish Footie!! WTF (No offence Chris!)
Talking of Eto’o do you remember when Kluivert was the worlds best and we couldn’t afford him? where did he end up? Newcastle?
I dont know what it is but the rumour is quickly spread after his interview about playing in big club with his brother. But I dont believe Tribalfottball , so this ”interview” could had taken place 2 years ago before he went to Barca
I think Eboue does not deserve to be in that list, the boy is crazy at times, but i feel he needs more time to grow. The way we gooners critisize him, i think its a bit unfair only punks like Fla-Money & Cashely Cole deserve that kind of treatment. They ditched us for more money. Look at our poor Eboue he is commited no matter what!!!
Cheers!!
http://www.latest-arsenal.blogspot.com
Meant Hleb’s agent, not neignbour. Shows how much I miss Mike. I do remember him fucking off to sunnier climes, didn’t realise it was permanent. If he does post here again he’ll have to change his name
google the word setanta double O its fucking irish!
i actual watched a mtach recently and there was an amazing goal scored, but i could be arsed after that,
Arsenaltom- I dont see player like Etoo ever going to Spuds-ow yeee-maybe when he is 34 like Davids
Geoff, bad show by your neighbour, honestly, I dont know with these retired types!
My take on Hleb is this, he’s not intrested, so either
a, sell the cnut and get a decent replacement or
b, send hom to the stiffs till Jan and then sell the cnut just to teach him a lesson not to mess with the arse!
Ungrateful cnut! So he’s saying it’s too noisy in London?! So where’s he going to go Torquay United?!
Dennis : ….and a couple of hotties in bikini wandering around:))
Arsenaldo – Bugga, why didn’t i think of that!!
i think hleb is a cunt js like reyes…….for reyes it was the weather now for hleb is the noise.i think hleb just needs to get laid he will stop the whining!!!
Dennis, Arsenaldo – Here’s the scenario to aim for,
Footie (preferably Arsenal stuffing someone 5-0), half nekid women(at least 4), cold booze or decent vino, , grubs optional!! That’s a day on fantasy Island!!
**Add a big fat stoggie or some blow (for chris and Big R) and off you go!
Odub I dont wanna boast or make U feel bad but Im watching all euro games(from Italy,Spain,Germany,France,UK) every weekend trough a satelite dish and reciever bought from my country…..all that for a 10£ a month……..:)
We talk of shit transfers and stuff, but here’s one for the statiticians amongst us,
the chavs bought a chap called Ivanovic in Jan, I dont remember ever seeing him play, and how much did he cost again?!!
Odub, it’s his age, he’s forgotten he used to blog!
I have a feeling we’ll sign Ben Arfa for £10 million, swap Hoyte for Barry plus £7 million and swap Hleb for YaYa and get £3million.
That would still mean we are short two players and I reckon one from Dunne, Kompany or Meretsacker.
Which should go near £25 depending on which centerback we sign.
Arsenaldo I am the same I am computer illiterate and don’t get the time I need to read this fantastic site. Geoff/Pedro this is the mutts nuts. We talk all sorts of shit. It reminds me of my early AFC days when I was in a crowd of complete strangers but it felt so at home and exciting. That feeling has slightly gone off in the modern day with all seater etc but I am so totally Arsenal. We all have different opinions and I am possibly one of the nutters but this is the place to be this is Cyber Arsenal. I stumbled on this site by looking for AFC news and I even got banned early on. For me the best thing about this site is that you spot imposters very quickly and fuck them off. Its ok for us Gooners to knock the Arsenal but no other fucker is allowed to. Fantastic and well done. I am changing my Le Champ to Le Grove. I work nights guys so I miss out on most of the banter and usualy it takes ages to get up to date as i read all the other guys comments.
Cheers Arsenaldo, that’s cheered me up big time!! I’ll now go home and ponder whether I want to get Setanta at £10/m to go with the 60 quid I pay Sky! Great!!
arsenaldo… me either which is why its so much better when their com back to me telling em how shit they are is “we’re gonna sign eto’o” is beautiful eto’o will stay.
the yaya thing is fresh on sky sports.com… i know they talk allot of shit and i remember him saying the same kinda thing a fewe years ago but this time he mentions the new manager their getting so it coud be real.
El Tel, you’ve been one of us from day one mate!
did hleb realize he is not a big city man after 3 years?
I would like to nominate co le chump award winners of the year…
EBOUE,,,, nuff said
and the 3 blind mice who referead
the home games against the mugmashers and the away quaterfinal champs league game
ALSO THAT UNGRATEFUL ARSEHOLE WHO WEARS NO 13 IF LONDONS TO BUSY FOR YOU ,FUCK OFF BACK TO YOUR HOME COUNTRY AND DRIVE YOUR HORSE AND CART ROUND YOUR VILLAGE COMRADE…….
odub… i think he cost about 8 mill… wasnt he another RB?
Arsenal Tom, so they’ve got Belletti, Ferrera, him and Bosingwa all RB’s?!!!
Way to bolster your squad Abramovich!
I was saying to some pals last night that the Spuds must be selling the season tickets right now. For as long as I can remember about this time they get linked with the worlds finest, it was Maradonna one year and as soon as the neanderthals give them their hard earned it goes quiet. They deserve what they get the fucking losers.
Thanks Geoff much appreciated, a tear to the eye. Where’s Big Raddy I seem to be on his wave length most of the time , except the other day when I fucked off the red haired 1.
yeah i know money well spent!!! my mate at work is chelski and said he saw an interview with a portugesse coach who said ferrera was better than bosingwa!!! very funny!! thats about 45mil on RBs there!!!
Got to go for a bit soon lads. the bike is being prepared for my Euro tour next week and her in doors is off work at the moment and the decorating isn’t getting done. I will take the lap top next week and check you guys out at each stop off. Even though I am a steward i get into massive arguments with the supervisors who brief us before every match. The fucking flag issue was brought up again at the last game. The club want an atmosphere but stop us guys from being visual. The scarf waving looked ok from the clock end and at least it was a start. See ya later.
what match!?
Odub – You swine, i’m stuck in an office on a gorgeous day in the land of the dull, and all i can think of now is AFC winning 5-0 while being served ice-cold beer by butt neked girlies………..
guyz is there an arsenal ladies match this weekend..i hate when the premiership breaks for summer.cant stand my mrs over the weekends
I suggest Chavs buy fourth RB-you know ,just in case the other 3 get injured-EBOUE-hahaha
patience Denis , patience………:))) its coming
Matty gets my vote as the cuntbag of the year! That’s why this sunday I looking forward to Fiorentina winning their match and ensuring that greedy twat won’t be in Champions League play next year. Taylor is a very close 2nd place – fucking clumsy hack… still out of his depth in Championship
Was thinking bout the Chump of the year malarky – Diarra is a glaring omition from the nominees in my eyes. What a complete idiot of a player, started complaining after about a month, left after 5, and if he’d stayed he would’ve been first choice ahead of flamini by the end of the season, having been turned into a top top player by Arsene, and especially with flamini leaving he’d have cemented a place in one of the top teams in Europe. What a clown
I thought he was just a Le Cunt, so we left him out.
Arsenaldo – I can’t remember the last time The Arse won 5-0, I have no cold beer, i have no butt-neked women and i have nooooooo patience………
Guys…
I NEED YOUR FEEDBACK ON LE CHAMP!
If you have any great additions, let me know ASAP
Any thoughts on Alisher ‘Jabba’ Usmanov as Le Chump of the year??
Pedro – undoubtably Cesc………..not only supremely talented, but the look on his face at the end of games (particulary towards the end of the season), when he was running on empty, but still gave it his all, thouroughly drained every time at the final whistle………fucking star…………made the likes of Hleb and Flamini look good……..
Sorry Dennis, I’m just as pissed about drumming up that image!!
Pedro,
Le Champ
3. Cesc
2. Eeeeeeedddduuuaardooo, Eeeeedddduuuuaaarrrdooo
1.Sagna – winner!!
Extras
Game of the season – 2-0 Milan or 3-1 at shyte hart lane
Goal of the season, 2nd goal V the pool in the CL defeat (Theo, your run will live in my meory for ever, now do it again 10 times next season!!)
It has to be Sagna for Le Champ
Geoff, do you want to sell Le-Grove to me so I can turn it into an AKB lovefest??? You know you want to!! I already promised Pedro a job as a cleaner before so I’ll keep him on but you’ll have to go because I can’t have free thinking!!
I am so fucking bored, especially of endless speculation. Is it me or since Wenger said he was going to sign players in the next 2-3 weeks has time seemed to stand still?? Probably another trick of Arsene’s.
I’d agree with Odub, Cesc was fantastic all season. Although I don’t think he’ll start as many games nor score as many goals as this season Adebayor has to be up there as well for the goals he got this season.
Potentially great news regarding Rosicky -
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_3565896,00.html
“I am glad that the true cause of my problems has been found and I hope that I will be fit and could start training as soon as possible.” If that’s true and Rosicky’s injury proneness is a thing of the past he could be a massive player next season. Not gonna be counting any chickens yet though
A, it wasn’t Diarra that was the chump, it was Wenger for selling him, no Guarantees whether Flamini was staying and should have either loaned him out or told him to shut the fuck up and rot in the reserves.
That’s why we have the Hleb problem, if someone wants to leave, Wenger lets him, we thought we’d have too many AKB’s on if we suggested the boss for Le Chump though.
GMR so you’ve headhunted Pedro eh???
I disagree massively Geoff. If a player wants to go that badly then get rid immediately. The impact an absolute idiot like him can have on dressing room morale is greatly underestimated. Once Diarra had shown his true colours to Wenger he wanted him out of the club, and rightly so
Then Wenger should have known that before he spent £2 million of our money on him.
A, re Rosicky, I’ll believe it when I see him next season!
Yeah, he has me scrubbing floors for £4 an hour…
I don’t think we know if he was being disruptive… Have you seen the videos of the Chelsea boys bullying him? Check the funnies. His personality isn’t big enough to cause issues like that.
If it is detrimental to the club, keep them.
Fergie and Ronaldo? Euro 2006…
Wenger’s a good spotter of talent but not a psychic – Diarra obviously hid his dickheadedness well! Although I’m sure that was a factor that led to Chelsea being willing to sell him to us
Geoff, It was actually when Edelman was sac…….I mean quit. The share price started falling (it went down £300 a share) so I said to Pedro if the price keeps falling Geoff & I can pull our resources & buy the club.
I said we’d keep him on as a cleaner as he has to start at the bottom & work up!!
Well work that one out then, Chelsea did.
You don’t need to be a psychic to evaluate a persons character, you do need common sense though, he lasted 4 months. Good management that.
So what happens when Cesc wants to go, or Ade or Clichy, the point of a contract is you see it out, if a player doesn’t feel like it at Arsenal, they just walk, like Hleb, Anelka and Henry.
Bad example to set.
If we could buy up some shares GMR I would, that’s for sure!
Diarra, Flamini and Gallas all have/had previous with their former clubs, I would have steered right clear to be honest, but then again what do I know?!
Any news yet on the Captain for next season yet?
I bought my shares when they were in the hundreds rather than thousands, but I also inherited all my uncle’s shares as well.
I know you have shares too so we have a good start!!
Henry was flogged because he’s crocked, as he’s shown this season! Not a fraction of the player he was. Anelka fair enough, he fucked us over, but he’s the only one. Hleb hasn’t left yet….
Diarra was undoubtedly a mistake, whether Arsene didn’t see his true personality or thought he could change him either way it was an error of judgement, but it doesn’t void the fact that Diarra was also a dickhead….
A – I wouldn’t call a £20M+ profit fucking us over
Yeah we did get good money for him but he did fuck us over in the nature of his exit, going on strike etc. Though obviously it all ended up pretty well with the money being used to bring in Thierry!
yeah fair point
So that’s 4 Frenchies that have/are pissing us about. (got a feeling Gallas will throw a strop once he loses the captaincy) Is there something to be learnt here?! (Apologies to all our French viewers!!)
Diarra is indeed a dickhead, Henry had the year before signed a 4 year deal and that after keeping us on hold for a year deciding, then he signed and we all said yeeaaaah!
One year on and he decides not to honour his contract, poor in my book, Wenger didn’t know he was a crock, if he did, why did he get him to sign a 4 year contract, you can’t have it both ways.
If you don’t think Hleb is gone, then you are defeating your own argument, you said you can’t keep a player that wants to go.
He wants to go.
Gallas, Flaimi,Anelka,Henry,Diarra, ok I make that 5! Also add Cygan for conning AW into believing he was a defender!!
I might be in the minority but was never convinced with Diarra being our midfield general, his C.C performances apart i think he was pretty poor and was glad he’s gone!
We need someone with strong character shielding the back line and Diarra is not that man.
Henry didn’t honour his deal & I bet he didn’t offer to refund the 5 million signing on fee which was all paid upfront. I just don’t understand how our board can be so clever at certain times & then as dumb as anything at others!!
Now we’re being linked with Zarate, that bloke who was on loan at Birmingham apparently his club only want 20 million!! Get stuffed!!
le champ… cesc fabregas… the way he celebrates his goals… he really loves the club..
le chump… taylor… it all went downhill from there in the league.
abdenor, he’s undoubtedly a good player, just a prick and a peanut headed one at that!
He was crocked between signing the contract and leaving, in that final season, and Arsene still managed to flog him for £16 million to Barca!
We don’t know that Hleb wants to go for sure, he hasn’t come out and said it. It could just be his agent causing problems. Things aren’t that black and white, a player doesn’t either want to stay or want to go, players can be unsettled and unsure about what they want to do, and it can take them a while to make their minds up (which could very easily have been the case with Flamini). Like all the summers with Henry when he was at his best, and Vieira too.
Odub, can you see Diarra being a regular for one of europe’s big boys ( Real, Barca, Man u & Chelsea) ??
Interesting story regarding Henry’s departure.
I know a bird whose sister is good friends with Henry’s ex-wife Claire. Back in 2006- when Henry was on the verge of moving- she said he was going to sign a new contract and then leave on year later in the summer of 2007. I dismissed it as bollocks but low and behold that exact thing happened. Only remembered that conversation about two months ago.
So, Henry knew all along he was leaving a year later when he signed that contract after the champ league final.
GMR -If we’re actually one of the clubs in talks with Zarate I’d be very happy – he’s a fantastically talented player. Though £20 million is far too much.
Odub – Henry didn’t cause problems, and Gallas hasn’t done anything wrong yet! Also regarding Cygan, he was fantastic in France, and has been very good for Villareal – it would seem he just wasn’t cut out for the prem, Forlan – like
abdenor he might do eventually, the only thing that works against him is his height… and big head! He does start for France though doesnt he?!
Yeah Odub he does. Talent wise i’d have loved for him to have stayed, he’s got more ability than Flamini anyways. Height wise he’s not much smaller than Makelele or Mascherano, two of the best around.
Do people actually think Toure could be used as a centre mid next year?? A couple of years ago I thought he’d be very useful there but I really don’t know now
A I meant they let either the club or fans down, surely you can’t tell me you werent dissapointed to see Henry leave a year after he signed a 4 year deal!
Gallas V Birmingham, his reaction?!! Nuff said!!
Cygan, even after watching him for 2 minutes yoiu could tell he didnt have any pace to start with, and looking good in the French league isnt difficult is it, just ask Flaurent Malouda!!
Birmingham didn’t trust Zarate to do any defensive work so they kept him on the bench & brought him on as a super sub. He undoubtedly has some quality but the difference between good & great players is how much they are prepared to work & Zarate clearly doesn’t want to.
A, Toure was a good shout for that role 2 years ago, but I think even AW’s lost confidence in him recently, as shown by the amount of times he was subbed towards the end of the season, and Guy Smiley Eboue fucking stayed on!
At least the medics think they have finally solved Rosicky’s injury problems after his operation yesterday. If the 8-10 week recovery period is right then he’ll probably miss the start of the season as he won’t even be able to start training until late July!!
Le champ-
1.Secs-running his socks off whole season-I really dont know how he lasted ,and dont blame him for not scoring lot of goals-he just covers the holes wingers (wingers ??? what wwingers?) leave
2. Sagna
3.Eduardooo
toure has been shite since the ANC…he needs a long vacation.
My word , there is some good stuff on the site today.
I enjoyed the French cunts thread……. wasn’t Ashley Cole French ?
Yeah but the spanish league too….
I was delighted Wenger got £16 million for Thierry, anytime he was on the pitch after christmas last season you could tell that he’d just gone, something was very wrong, and that’s continued this season at Barca, he’s crocked and I’d rather have got £16 million than had him stay in the state he was in!
And I think the media over-hyped the Gallas Birmingham thing hugely. People have a go at players who don’t seem to care but Gallas just cared too much, and the Eduardo thing affected him massively. He did lost it, and it was disappointing not what you’d want from a captain in that situation, but I don’t blame him as it was a very very traumatic day and that sort of thing can affect people unexpectedly.
GMR I think he’d be as good defensively as Theo, or Pires or Overmars were. Playing at a club like Birmingham where most matches are battles, the defensive necessities are very different from a team at the top attacking most of the time. Those three probably wouldn’t get any games in the midfield of relegation threatened teams either, despite their undoubted attacking ability
Le Champ – Cesc. If only for his performance at the San Siro. Just brilliant.
Runner up. Our full backs. Both superb and as a unit maybe they will be the best ever. And I am including Dixon/Winterburn
Cunt of the Year. Well usually it goes to whoever is managing those dicks down the road, but this year Matt Taylor is a shoe-in
Le Champ: for me Clichy. Really came of age this season and has incredible engine, never stops running. So much better than Ashley Cole we’re glad that he’s utter cunt and left us for Chelsea
Next Sagna, then Eduardo
Mate there’s caring, and there’s kicking 6 bells out of summy brummy advertising boards and then shouting at a young team mate for what was a legit tackle!! Very immature in my book, there’s better ways of showing you care than that.
I didnt see anyone have a go at him for the pen he conceeded V the pool, and his over the top gum chewing reaction wasnt the best either was it?
Ok fine I’ll come out and say it, his haircut just looks ridiculous!!! lol
***scummy
Yeah I know, it was disappointing, and he lost it completely, but it was because he cared too much and the situation all got too much for him. To be honest though I really don’t know who would be a better captain in the current team…. Gallas instilled that fighting spirit early on in the team that we’ve missed since Vieira or Adams had the armband. Fabregas I really don’t know about as a captain, fantastic player but I dunno if he has that sort of presence. Toure I would have thought before the second half of this season where he just went to pieces, and there’s noone else!! Very odd situation with a lack of leaders
i think we need to follow boro on this one.. no captain armband
i can see gilberto getting the captain arm band if he is back in the squad
Maybe that’s why Arsene’s supposedly going for Dunne, he’s been a very good captain at City for years! I did have a dream the other night that we signed someone who was immediately installed as captain, though I think it was an unknown African, which obviously even Wenger wouldn’t dream of doing!
I’d give it to Sagna!! Any against?
From what I can see Rosicky’s main problems throughout his career has been groin and hamstring injuries.
This current injury was a knee tendon injury which from what I can gather bares no relation to the spate of previous niggles.
So, I remain unconvinced that we will ever see Rosicky play 35-40 games.
Have to agree about Billy haircut. Looks like a complete dork. But as a player I like him. He certainly has passion and I like to see that on the pitch, plus he is a fine defender. Though as has been said, should AW take the captaincy away, he will walk.
besides the whole team .. . ?
i don’t think you can make someone captain after 1 year in the club.
True Paulinho, but if we can get 25./30, that will be enough. What with Theo/Vela coming through
Paulinho – The groin and hamstring problems originated from whatever it is that’s wrong with his knee and the area where the muscles connected to the knee, the operation is designed to put an end to those injuries….
Odub ….. Against.
He is too quiet on the pitch
choy, that’s what he did with Gallas!!!!!
i think Sagna has to be Le-Champ as he has been excellent,
Gallas 2008/9, then Cesc 09/10 til he retires.
If Rosicky had been fit this season the title would have been heading back to the Emirates. His game compliments Cesc and Hleb perfectly.
ok Big R, agree with that one.
A
Toure will come back next season , don’t you worry about that was only this time last year bein mentioned as one of the finest defenders about!
As for Gallas lets face it, he’s not really a leader is he? Without doubt we’ve not benefitted from any leadership qualities from Gallas this season, I think we made him captain last summer to stop him moaning.
Fuck it, the Mrs wants me to go to town for some shopping. Just when I was getting a rhytmn going.
Back in a couple of hours
The players respect Gallas cause he pulls it out on the pitch with goals at vital times this season. He leads by example with his play.
Better that than having a billy big bollocks in the dressing room who can’t play for shit when the game starts.
yeah but gallas was always whining.. so wenger shut him up by giving him the captaincy..
I say give him another year like big r says… he’s a pretty good defender.
Check this out people:
Ade VS TH stats:

http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/05/14/Premier-League-Rosicky-on-injury/
We’re bringing a big player into the squad in August! Excellent news.
I dunno Adenor I think he was a fantastic leader up until the Birmingham game. Marshalled the troops well, very passionate, lot of experience, and even came up with very late important goals leading by example…. Unfortunately losing it in the Birmingham game could well have made the players think differently about him and he might not recover in a captains light due to that.
Yeah I really hope Toure does return to his former self, he seemed to be running on empty after the ANC, I wouldn’t have been surprised to learn he’d contracted a blood disease of some sort with his energy levels, especially compared to his normal self.
If he is fine next year I’d stick him as captain if Gallas is no longer considered
Why as it taken so long to find these injuries? Half of his contract he as been injured on and off thats at least ten million pounds worth of investment and only now is it sorted.
I hope he is okay though because e it will make losing Hleb if he goes a lot easier.
Champ of the year Eduardo just for his atitude when he didn’t get in the first team (unlike Diarra) and a role model to all since his leg injury.
A- I don’t think the knee injury is connected to the groin and hamstring injuries. When he says ‘true cause’ I think he means true cause behind this particular injury, which was initially dismissed as a minor one. The last four months have been spent trying to why it won’t heal.
Expect Rozza to break down in mid-september with a slight groin strain and be out for three weeks.
Hi Pedro/Geoff and Le-Grovers,
For me,
Le Chump-Gary Lewin.
Why does it seem that our injuries are always worse than other teams and our players remain out for longer?
Le Champ-Sagna
Even when his brother passed away he still played and fought for the club. A true battler, wish we had more with his character.
I’m pretty shocked by those stats Choy, the lack of assists by Thierry surprises me, especially as he got 23 assists in the following season according to Soccernet, though it doesn’t have records for the 01/02 season
Finest who are we bringing in in August, or do you mean Rosicky returning from injury??
Wrighty I disagree regarding Gary Lewin
I was going to put his name forward for Le Champ with the way in which he treated Eduardo and saved his career, along with the surgeons who operated
Yes A, it’ll be like a brand new signing for us.
haha!!!
paulinho – I’m sure i heard a whole back that they’d found the cause of rosicky’s repetitive injuries and had decided upon a plan to put them right. The last injury he’s had that didn’t get put right was a hammy one as well not knee…. http://www.arsenal.com/injury.asp?thisNav=The+Match
Yeah I agree about Gary Lewin, he is credited for his swift and correct decision making at the time of Eduardo’s injury, if he had got it wrong, it really could have been the point of no return for Eduardo. Roll on Le Champ….getting the handbags out over what’s gone wrong
is all well and good, but I don’t really fancy a marathon session of it…..celebrating the good and the great is much more fun.
Re: Henry signing for 4 years and then going after 1 year; and that he knew he would move — no surprise really – 1/ there was no way AW or board wanted him to move on when we were just about to move to the Emirates; can you begin to imagine the effect that would have if he wasn’t there and 2/ to complete the story he had to sign for 4 years; anything less would have been unrealistic and no doubt becuase he still had 3 years on his contract Barca had to cough up some serious wedge.
To be fair I think Henry had made his mind up the season before but his loyality to Wenger and probably to the Arsenal fans made him decide to stay for 1 year. And with a £5M sweetener; why wouldn’t he!
In the Carling cup final when Terry got booted in the head by Diaby even the Chelsea physio let Gary Lewin treat the injury so he must have some respect within the game.
Is it Lewins son who is a back up or trainee or something?
Isn’t it better than Henry signed a new contract and then left, so we can get a good transfer fee for him?
Better than running down his contract and fucking off on a free.
What we should have done is offered Flamini 80K a week, and then put him on the transfer list next summer …. we pay him 25 K more than we wanted to, but we get 10 Mil for him next summer
It’s Colin Lewin you’re thinking of, he’s Gary’s cousin I believe.
Gary commands massive respect within the game, he’s one of the best and most experienced physios around
I can’t believe some people suggesting Lewin for Le Champ, blame the players not the Physio.
he’s one of the best around!
….Le Chump….
Yeah your right,
I take it back about Gary Lewin, because he saved Dudu’s career. Sorry Gary, my new Le Chump is………….
Hleb
Simply because he now exactly like cAshley Cole in my eyes…..
i wish our players were like terry.. get whacked.. fall down and come back Asap…
(repeat till fade)
Anyone putting Big Phil on the chump list is a bit out of order. Especially for singling out the Champs league game against Pool. Phil got done twice, no doubts… but each time the finish from the Pool player was awesome. Hyypia’s header was the best header of the season. And Torres’s turn and finish was dynamite. We’d be creaming our jeans if one of our boys had done that, not saying “how crap was the Liverpool defending”….
Kolo, on the other hand, who hasnt had a good game since December, was also directly responsible for 2 goals in that tie. He was equally as abysmal as Big, and very definitely a senior pro. Our Back 4 was at its best this year when it was Gael, Bak, Willy and Big during the ANC. What Wenger did to Phil by dropping him for Kolo after the ANC finished was poor. He had a chance there to really get Phil bedded in. Whenever Phil has had a run in the side he looks the business. But his confidence left him after Wenger’s decision to drop him. Big shouldnt be on anyone’s list. Unlike Eboue, Hleb, Manuel, Hoyte, and a few others, at least playing for Arsenal seems to be the most important thing in his life.
Champ contenders are Cesc, Bak and Gael. Cant seperate ‘em… so… Theo it is…
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=A1YourView&xml=/sport/2008/02/27/ufnarsenal127.xml
Lewin is a legend.
Our best all round performer has been Fabregas, no surprises there, he is our most valuable player, the nucleus of the team, he more than any other player deserves the credit. Fabregas is the model of an Arsenal player, give the man the armband and base it on ability and attitude, not age and experience.
How could Manuel be le chump?! He may not be a top top keeper, but he’s done everything that was asked of him, and was good this season even if not exceptional. He should be considered for le champ just for the penalty save against spurs!
Excellent – this is too priceless.
The official Arsenal website posted a story on why “Eboue critics are wide of the mark”
http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=news&article=491447&cpid=703&title=Wenger+-+Why+Eboue%27s+critics+are+wide+of+the+mark
They couldn’t think of anything… hahahahaha
They have given themselves until Thursday morning to find a spin doctor to quote his 3% cross completion and 2.3% pass completion rates in a positive light.
So funny…
Well – here’s hoping Eboue falls down a manhole and never resurfaces
Alex/
Evening all!
Who said Big Al should go in the Le Chump list!
I reckon he made the least mistakes out of the top keepers this season.
Wrighty, I said that about Lewin yesterday and I got jumped on…
To many GLKB’s on this site…
Arsene makes his decisions based on a massive amount of statistical data, therefore there are bound to be many statistics that he valued highly enough to keep him in the side. Statistics that I’m sure the majority of fans will completely disregard rather than try to analyse rationally as they might actually show that the extent of the hatred and criticism eboue receives from many fans is ill founded to an extent at least….
ok so here is one for a laugh just read on the comments on young guns
surely a joke, right?
“met Arsene Wenger at the Cesc Fabregas show last night and he told me that he’s interested in bringing Titus Bramble in to toughen up the defence. He also said to expect the signing to be announced within the next week or two.”
Farrukh
the fact that you’re asking whether that’s a joke or not is pretty worrying chris!
tongue firmly in my cheek, A
funny stuff indeed
ps was the cesc fabregas show last night!? is it on the internet anywhere?? was it any good?!
What are the odds on Bramble joining Arsenal this summer,i wonder , reckon it’s like 10000000000000000/1….
GMR will take that bet abdenor, i am sure of it
http://www.skysports.com/nikelivefabregas/
Gary Lewin will go on my management le Chump list for pulling John Terry’s enormous lizard like tongue out of his stinking cheating throat.
If he’d have taken his time, he wouldn’t have been around to cheat with Cashley and thrown the ball to our corner flag which resulted in their equaliser, the cheating thick horrible cunt.
So I blame Lewin.
bramble joining arsenal has more chance than the spuds winning the league
I think the telling statistic regarding Eboue would be that he has about 3 assists and about 0 goals this season from over 30 games.
You can put whatever spin you want on his work rate, but we all watch him week in week out… we all understand the game and we all agree, he is shite.
What could he be doing that we can’t see?
I would say the only reason he gets played is because we don’t have anyone more effective.
Theo leaves the right back exposed and I can’t think of anyone else suitable? Diaby maybe… when he is fit.
that boy cesc makes more passes than any1
Alex, they already had a test press this morning where Wenger compared Eboue to Ray Parlour. I’m sure neither the feedback nor the general response was not too positive so they’re going for a re-mix. The basic argument was that Eboue is part of the team and that players such as Parlour didn’t score much but were still part of a winning team. It did more to fan the flames than convince fans that he’s a good or important player.
The Rosicky news is good, now they’ve got to the root of the problem Eboue will have a much tougher time of coming on.
Eboue has been the fans major critcism of Wenger, a player so inflammatory in the eyes of the fans that some have turned on Wenger and started questioning his ability to pick a team, something Arsene will have to put up with until someone of superior ability who endears himself to fans plays on right wing. With Theo and Rosicky, where would Eboue play?
The only way the pro-Eboue argument would stand up to scrutiny is for Wenger to give him another 30 games next season playing in that same position meaning he really wants a defensive player there. It’s not all Eboue’s fault, he’s a square peg in a round hole at a top club, he’d be the subject of much praise for what he does at Wigan or Middlesbrough, but Arsenals fans expect more and dampening expectation of how a right winger should play (defensively rather than offesinvely). I mean if Eboue gives the team balance does that mean he’s an improvement over Rosicky, and that there was an imbalance previous to Eboue that bringing Eboue to play there has solved?
Wenger was playing 5-3-2, he was called a right winger but he played as a defender, and yes we can win games with him there, but I think we also could have with many other players at other clubs with nine other top outfield players. For example Sebastian Larsson, he wasn’t fantastic but he could just as well have slotted in and done Eboue’s job.
Can we win games with one relegation quality player? The answer is yes, the experiment has worked, now lets move on and get back to 4-4-2, with top quality in EVERY position.
i assume you have all seen this
http://youtube.com/watch?v=GSADa7UQAoE
ye but AW loves him for some reason Pedro. Theo will play as a winger next season and I hope RW, so maybe Eboue will go on LW- I dont know. The best would be to bench him as backup RB
…And sell Hoyte.
That’s the point though, that’s why the likes of Arsene, Mourinho etc are football managers and we aren’t – assists and goals aren’t the only statistics that matter…. Managers see much more than we do in terms of statistical analysis, and are much better than we are at analysing said analysis!!
I don’t think anyone would try and argue that he’s a fantastic right back, but his contribution to our success this season up to the Birmingham game is vastly underrated
Very good post finest, I agree totally (although wouldn’t class Eboue as a relegation quality player, though he’s no right mid)
He wasn’t a good right back, that is why we bought Sagna… Wenger identified a weakness and replaced him. That is also why Wenger would sooner put Toure there.
I don’t think it is good enough to say that Arsene knows so he must be ok? No one has given a valid justification for why Eboue is in the team?
Ray Parlour was a much better right midfielder, a better passer, better tackler… more energy.
I can’t see eboue’s worth to the team, and it seems no one else can?
Can we stop talking about Dunne coming, he is fat and shit…… end of !
I’ll give you one big reason why Eboue isin the team. MENTAL STRENGTH!
Cant think of 1 save Manuel made which I didnt expect him to make. Cant think of any points he won for us.
But, on the other hand, thats not his fault. He’s just a nice bloke who is also an average keeper. Just like Eboue; he is who he is. And Hoyte. And any other player who it is blantantly obvious that they aint up to the task. Its not their fault they display their lack of ability every time they play, its Wenger’s fault for playing them when its clear as a bell they shouldnt be in the squad. He’s gone for Almunia. His purchase, his decision. No other top European club has such a nothing keeper.
Perhaps thats all we need….
The reason I call him relegation quality is because he doesn’t put enough into the game to change it. If you put Eboue into a relegation team would he lift them up or go down with them?
Ask the same question about Fabregas, RVP, Sagna…any of our first 11 and could we say the same?
Play Eboue and he’s only as good as the team he’s playing for, he doesn’t make a team better.
He was a fantastic right back, and had a huge contribution to us getting to the champions league final…. He did get a bit worse the following season but would still be a very good right back, Sagna is just better and was a steal for the money we paid….
The statistics the managers use aren’t publically available so we won’t be able to get a justification as to why he was in the team this season.
I can see his worth to the team, as can finest it would appear, and Arsene Wenger obviously can.
Eboue was in the team because of injuries to Rosicky, Eduardo, and Van Persie, and Theo not being ready. As well as adding a great deal more defensive strength on the right flank.
I wouldn’t say that Parlour was much of a better passer, and a worse tackler – Eboue is actually a very good tackler, and is quicker than parlour was….
Eboue = passenger.
I don’t think he’d even make a good mini cab driver.
Gidster – the penalty save against spurs?!
Finest yeah I agree he can’t make a massive difference, or change a game, but it’s a sign of quality that he can fit in and play at a club like arsenal. I still think he’s a very talented attacking fullback
Eboue makes more of a difference at a club like arsenal where he can overlap from a fullback position than he would at a little club. I dont get how people have forgotten how important he was at right back in the champions league season.
He’s got to go
.
Eboue the weak link in the chain – the sooner AW gets rid of him the better Arsenal will be. his attitude stinks and just winds me up. he’s an immature drama queen !!!
Sure he has some skills and talent , on a good day can skin players at will – when he chooses to – and is built like a brick wotsit…but lets himself, team, manager and all Gooners down with his theatrics.
he’s worst than ronaldivo for cheating and feigning
Eboue plays the same every minute, every time whether it’s Man City at home or AC Milan away (he patrolled the right flank for 71 mins that night yes). He doesn’t show fear. Eboue for Arsenal!
The reason that Wenger is a manager and I’m not is because he’s a lucky bastard and he bumped into David Dein at a function, otherwise he’d be eating pickled noodles in a sushi bar in Japan.
He wasn’t considered the best when he left Monaco was he? and Moanrinio was a fucking translator for Bobby Robson.
I’ve met a lot of managers in my time guys such as Jack Charlton, Terry Neil, Don Howe, Mick McCarthy, Terry Neil, Bobby Robson and George Graham and all of them were really nice guys, but super intelligent???
I’ll leave it at that, I would and could but was never asked, so I didn’t and haven’t.
How the fuck did Mourinho become a translator? His translation skills are shite, he translates his own language directly into English, very poor for a translator, I could beat his ass at that any day of the week.
Yes but that’s why there aren’t any top english managers anymore! Wenger and Mourinho take very statistical and intellectual approaches to management, and are incredibly intelligent….
Timao… mental strength is not quantifiable, its like measuring love or anger.
Gidster, I disagree. Valdes is weak, Reina gaffs, Cech has gaffed as has Van Der Saar.
Almunia has great distribution, far superior to Jens. He doesn’t kick up a fuss at corners and as far as I am concerned… the best keepers make everything look easy.
A, Mourinho is intelligent but his linguistic skills are far inferior to Wenger’s, he gives himself away when he’s unable to correctly use irregular verbs, he often confuses the present continuous with the simple, the guy is a joker who thinks he’s a tad better than he is.
LOL Geoff- I like the sushi bit:))
i never said anything about his linguistic skills! i was referring to his grasp of statistical data and analytical abilities
I wouldn’t call anyone particularly bright that let Flamini go on a free, but call me old fashioned. As for Moanrinio, he went from translator to coach, I don’t think he even played football. Lucky bastard, any one can spend £200 million in a season and win something, anyone.
I wonder A , why R U defending our worst players _Senderos and Eboue. Could it be because you’re trying to get attention….if is that , I have to say you’re managing very well..:))
D’ya know what has just occurred to me, and i apologise if someone has already stated this, but it’s quite heartening the varied responses to Le Champ, rather than in Thierry’s hayday when it was always him, we’ve now got almost a whole team of Le Champs……….
I cannot believe my eyes – where are all those people loving Eboue coming from?
Have they been watching different Arsenal games?
He should be offloaded from the team – talking about beautiful games gunners play? Well, i cannot say that whenever this guy’s on the pitch doing the very best of anti-arsenal.
Mourinho is a “Catenaccio” specialist, so if thats the style of football you like then he’s one of the best in the world at it, but for me attacking “Total Football” is my passion, pure creative, flowing technically skilled football.
It’s a bit like which martial art do you prefer, Boxing or Kung Fu? Each has it’s merits.
Pedro, sure Almunia has all those attributes you mentioned and might i add he’s a very good shot stopper…….. but
His decision making is pretty poor wich is very important for a keeper therefor i’d go out and bring a proper goalie in.
Geoff, reluctantly Ill defend Moaninho and I have to say not everyone spend 200mil will win something. Chavs were spending similar amounts of money before him but without success, Newcastle -another example(well not 200mil but more than us 4 sure. And of course Inter Milano R spending big time for 10 years at least and had won nothing but Italian cups ocasionaly up untill Calcioscandal 3 years ago
A, you could be a good brief for Peter Sutcliffe!
His decision making has been good this season?
He has improved… I think he gets bad press for the same reason Ade does… seasons past!
Have you seen how poor Reina’s decision making is? Woeful! He flaps at crosses for fun!
Eboue has many fans today…
Arsenaldo, we don’t play “Catenaccio” , it’s ugly and it’s not “real” football, I don’t want our style to change.
Finest Im not suggesting anything like that. your reading something else??
eboue, flamini and cesc is the key to our full court press defense and they are top 3 in our team in their workrate.
Just count the number of minutes they played and you know their contribution.
Please first look at the stats, then consider your personal tastes on our players.
Pedro, mental strength is quantifiable. Basically what it means is that a player plays consistently even if the odds are stacked high. So the unit of mental strength is the neuronic chip. Ebuoe has 879 neuronic chips out of a possible 1000. Compared to Jens who has only 650. Clichy has 999 and Franny Jeffers had 3.
Joseph,
I’ll take that as sarcasm that you are putting Eboue in the same sentence as Cesc.
Joseph, don’t read too much stats they mean nothing, Eboue has got no sense of direction and just run like a headless chicken !
wasn’t that title for flamini last season?
A. Good point about the spurs pen save. Apologies to Manuel.
I think that Goalkeeper is the most important position in the team. It is the only position which cant be covered by other players. Agreed, Reina isnt very good… thats a good reason why Liverpool aren’t that great. During the invincible season Lehmann was absolutely world class. He was faultless, often outstanding, and he won us lots of points. He had an aura about him that year, and during the run to the CL final too. He projected that aura onto the defence, they had confidence in him and what he was going to do. It made a massive difference having a top man between the sticks…
He was our most important player going into the final. He fancied a clean sheet that night. And the mistake he made, whilst it cost us dearly, totally shattered Jens. He knew he’d fucked up in the biggest game of his life when he was in the form of his life as well.
And in a way, Manuel’s penalty save galvanised us against Spurs that day. It was the key moment in the match. And we need a keeper who can do that. And, Pedro, I agree with your comments about other keepers in the Prem. The big 4′s keepers are not all that great. Reina is dodgy, Van Der Saar looks limp at times, Cech has made blunders. But Chelsea play better with Cech. Utd play better with Van Der Saar. They give the team confidence. I think our players like Almunia coz he is clearly a nice guy. But does he give them the same confidence that a really good goalkeeper would give them? I dunno…
We want to be a top 5 team in the world, but we have a keeper who isnt in the top 20. And I think thats generous.
Just responding to the praise of Mourinho Arsenaldo, praise he scantily deserves just because he spent money and won. We all know what Mourinho did, got the first goal
and killed the rest of the game. Thats why Abramovich got rid of him, he had enough of it, his style of football is the equivalent in architecture to a 1960′s council flat tower block, easy to build, gets the job done buy why not build an elegant modern skyscraper that also does the job and is something to be admired. That’s what we’re doing at Arsenal, we’re actually competing to be the best footballing team, not just mark your man and wear them out, that’s not playing the game, it’s anti-football.
Joseph, show us the stats… I don’t believe they exist.
He made 20 prem starts this year, 5 more than Rosicky… in a 38 game season.
He is far from pivotal.
theo and rosicky definitely contribute less to our season comparing to eboue. They played less minute.
Theo will get his starts next season so will a healthy rosicky. This will push Eboue to the bench. Song is going to shine with flamini gone. Having said that, it was a team with eboue and flamini that gave us our most successful season in years. This is fact.
anyways, i am backed Pedro. Can’t believe you guys are still here.
“theo and rosicky definitely contribute less to our season comparing to eboue. They played less minute.”
LOL
Arenaldo the Chavs spent 200 in one season 300 in 3 at least the others spread it, apart from Terry every player was a top player brought in and two teams worth too, any cunt could do that…well he did, didn’t he!
Yeah I agree Gidster that Almunia isn’t in the top 20 keepers in the world, but he isn’t a long term plan. Top keepers are very hard to find. We’ve been spoilt with Seaman and then the signing of Lehmann was amazing business. However now to buy a Buffon/Casillas quality keeper would take up our entire budget, which we need to use elsewhere. Wenger feels that Fabianski will become a top top keeper, so Almunia is only in temporarily whilst Fabianski develops a bit.
Arsenaldo I defend Senderos and Eboue because I get incredibly irritated by the same idiots who jumped on bandwagons attacking Adams when he first came into the side, and in the last couple of years the likes of Hleb, Adebayor, Bendtner, and for England Hargreaves and Crouch now gunning for Senderos and Eboue. Even if people don’t rate the players, which is a matter of opinion, they ridiculously overreact with their level of criticism and hatred. Senderos was a better defender than Toure and Gallas the second half of the season, cost less goals and less points, yet Senderos is the only one that gets lambasted. Eboue was a necessary inclusion for the majority of the season due to injuries.
finestcuts, laughing at fact may make yourself look stupid.
What does playing more minutes mean?
His introduction to the first team coincided with our demise right?
I think calling third place, quarters of the CL and a semi final of the carling cup a successful season is pretty poor.
Flamini is a good player, I wont deny that… Eboue did not contribute anything to the team. Unless you have some stats, bar minutes (I seem to remember Eboue mostly getting subbed after 60minute) – I don’t think you have a case?
Mental strength and games by default is your argument.
I don’t care about Eboue stats the fact that he dives and acts like a prick when he gets booked is an embarrassment to AFC out him.
chill out lads…
so any transfer news… its been quiet today!
Pedro you must at least agree that Eboue was very solid defensively on the right hand side of midfield?
Joseph:
“theo and rosicky definitely contribute less to our season comparing to eboue. They played less minute.”
You wrote contribute…which means in general. Did you mean contributed?
I find it amusing that you’re able to deduce playing time as a “contribution”,
we clearly have different ways of concluding what a player’s “contribution” is.
You’re welcome to believe I’m stupid, you don’t know what you’re dealing with
I don’t know if he is? With Sagna at right back… it is difficult to tell?
Sagna, now there is a player.
the main reason i do not like eboue is he does not give in his best..
he’s sulking when passes are not hit right… he makes stupid tackles and then goes on his knees to the ref.. and he is lazy… and dives a lot..
he might be playing out of position but the least he can do is try and give it a 100%…
thats why he takes the piss!
Pedro i can’t agree on our season being a disappointment. Spurs was a disappointment, we weren’t.
Playing more minutes mean they contribute more to the final result, winning or losing.
I agree david, his theatrics are embarrassing, and i cant believe he hasn’t had a telling off by toure to stop him acting in such a way. In terms of his contribution to the team, attacking wise he contributed very little this season, however in terms of the contribution to the team overall I’d say he was superior to freddie in his last two years at the club, yet freddie never received the extent of the abuse. Possibly because of Eboue’s idiocy with diving etc??
Sagna is one hell of a player, but it was noticable that his impact going forward diminished greatly when Eboue wasn’t on the pitch, as Eboue slotted back into the right back role when Sagna went forward so naturally
finestcut i don’t think you are stupid, i just don’t want you make yourself look stupid.
I just explained contribution in the previous post.
You can be the best player in the world but you can’t contribute if you were injured or sitting on the bench.
Pedro,
Great minds think alike!!!
A: completely agree with the analysis of the defence. I used to pray that JT’s name was on the teamsheet when we played Chelsea early in his career. Henry would toast him every time. Not any more…
Woodgate is another prime example. He hasnt tightened the Spurs ship any since his arrival. But no criticism. Big Phil may well have “a Phil moment” in most games, but so does Kolo. Kolo does basic things wrong sometimes, and is often really wild in the challenge. And Gallas, whilst often very good, is also often very bad too. No one gave it the old “drogba’s got his number” after he coughed up 2 goals at The Bridge this year. But when Drogba scores a screaming header in front of Phil from a brilliant cross, we (and the commentators too!) can only see Phil in a bad light.
It seems very unfair on Phil. The only thing I would criticise Phil for is that he seems to have a thin skin. But the criticism got to Tony too… in a big way.
Spurs won something Joseph… It may only have been the carling cup, but it is still a measure of their season. They didn’t need to finish 5th once they bagged that.
Playing more minutes because others are injured does mean you have contributed… but that doesn’t mean his contribution was better than Rosicky’s or Theo’s.
You need to tell me he makes more passes, more tackles, more assists… goals…
He doesn’t though? There are no compelling statistics to justify his position becuase if there were, Wenger would tell us just like he used to with Henry and co.
Can Ben Arfa do a bit of defending whilst Sagna overlaps?
I think that the only reason Theo dosen’t start he just cannot cover for Sagna.
will people stop tallking about eboue qualities he has none!!!!!!!!! watch him roll around go down clutching his calf or Knee when he gets tackled , he looses the ball and refuses to track back he IS A CUNT , Please dont try and tell me he’s a good defender either thats why we bought Sagna ,EBOUE CANT DEFEND, as a right winger tell me
A. How many goals did he Score?
B. How many assist’s did he make last year, I can think of two The crosses for ade at villa, and newcastle , Thats all that come to my mind..
C,How many times did he give the ball away in dangerous area’s Remember Gerrads Goal at the grove in the champs league?
I would rather see the Ladies right back play there than the waste of space eboue,Hoyte is not top class either but he will die for the shirt this cannot be said about the CHEAT….
and as far as the Romford PELE goes REMEMBER THE CUP FINAL GOAL HE SCORED TO FINISH OFF THE CHAVS,,HE RAN HIMSELF INTO THE GROUND WHENEVER HE PULLED ON THE RED AND WHITE this would never happen with eboue end off…
Wrighty, do you mean Sagna being a great player… or Eboue being a poor one?
Sorry guys doesn’t look like it’s Ben Arfa:
The agent of Lyon starlet Hatem Ben Arfa has told skysports.com that the talented playmaker has been offered a very lucrative contract by Tottenham Hotspur, although its not guranteed he will leave Lyon for England.
Ben Arfa, an 18-year midfielder who has already been burdened with the tag of being the ‘New Zidane’, has reportedly been watched by Arsenal, Barcelona, Tottenham & Chelsea this season.
However, despite his prodigious talents, reports in France have suggested Lyon have grown disgruntled by Ben Arfa’s attitude – with a fee of 15 million the figure desired by his current paymasters.
Dutch giants Ajax were also thought to be monitoring the situation – having expressed interest last season – but agent Frederic Guerra has moved to refute such suggestions.
When quizzed on the future of his client, Guerra was bullish in his appraisal of the situation and certain that Ben Arfa would not be moving to Holland.
”No, he is not going to Holland,” Guerra told skysports.com.
”He has a lucrative offer from Tottenham and will be flying in for talks and a medical after the Coupe de France”
A – where is your evidence that Sagna played better with Eboue.? IMNO he played best with Rosicky.
And the reasons I dislike him are :
1.The stats show how poor his contribution to the team is.
2. His ‘mental strength ? The man has no real fight in him (OK – I will give you the Terry kicking and the Ronaldo tackle)
3. His total lack of calm in front of goal – he shits himself
4. His inability to hit a cow’s arse when crossing (one cross does not make a season
5. And this is the real reason…. he is an embarassment to the shirt. His antics upon getting touched, his feigned innocence upon fouling, his praying to the unjust gods when a decision goes against him. It is just pathetic
Fuck me… spurs want everyone this year!
Where do they get all their money from?
Ben Arfa is older than 18… poor journalism.
Joseph, to me a players contribution amounts to the quality (technical skills, tactical awareness, fair play, difference to the final result etc.) they display while on the pitch.
“You can be the best player in the world but you can’t contribute if you were injured or sitting on the bench.”
You can be the 12th man and cheer them to victory! But yes you’re quite right, I didn’t think of that before.
“finestcut i don’t think you are stupid, i just don’t want you make yourself look stupid.”
Thanks for taking me under your wing bruv.
Raddy… you are my hero.
Nail on the head.
Poor journalism, thats sky for you!! I think thats their trademark
I never claimed his contribution was better than Rosicky’s or Theo of late. Therefore he will be benched next season. What i said is he contributed more in our best season, “footballistically”.
A part of the history of arsenal is we always honor our players. I surely wish we all could do the same.
Pedro, should i take you mean you would rather switch our position with spurs?
Thats what I think he means Joseph, you’re our Sherlock.
Simon and Pedro
I’m sure stats wise Eboue will have done a hell of a lot of tackles, much more than theo or whoever else would have played right mid and he slots in at right back incredibly well for Sagna, they can interchange the whole time. As i said – Ljungberg played for two years offering nothing offensively to the team, and nothing defensively either!! At least Eboue is very strong defensively for a midfielder, and gives Sagna a massive amount of freedom. Ljungberg never got the stick Eboue has, and he was actually first choice, rather than someone who was put in because of injuries!!
Pedro,
I agree on both counts, also about the sore subject of Lewin. The man performed miracles to save Dudu but why all the longetivity with the injuries all the time?
And Pedro – do you honestly think spurs had a more successful season than us purely because of winning a shiny little cup by beating a bunch of reserves?! The league cup is a complete irrelevance, there’s no pride in winning it. The only way I’d feel any different if we’d won it is finding it funny and feeling sorry for how humiliated the opposition must have felt at being so inferior to our reserves and youth! The league cup is nothing, at all
A. ….I think we are going over old ground here. Freddie gave us a few fantastic years, and is an Arsenal hero.
One must compare like with like. Try a fit young Freddie and a fit young Eboue.
I rest my case
Now I agree with the Sp*rs comment !
bigraddy sagna never played with rosicky. when rosicky was fit he was left mid, hleb right
That sounds like you are saying Eboue contributed more than rosicky and walcott… definitely. Footballistically, he didn’t contribute more. Minutes wise he did.
By that token you would say he contributed more than RvP because he played more games… even though RvP bagged 14 or so goals?
No, I would not swap our position but to say Spurs had poor season isn’t true. They won something for the first time in about 10 years and they qualified for Europe. They have bragging rights over us… they have a trophy.
A, Freddie scored 46 goals for us.
Freddie was a legend A… one of the best at one point. He was a threat regardless of his form during the tail end of his career.
A, if Eboue is so great at RB, why does Arsene put Kolo there?
As to Lewin, any fully trained physio would have preserved Dudu’s leg in the same circumstances.
We have to ask why other teams injuries take less time to heal. My guess is that Lewin is ‘ seeking new challenges’ just like Edelman.
In other words, ….. the Spanish Archer
They had a good season FOR THEM. They certainly don’t have bragging rights over us in any way in my opinion. Their first team beat a team which we put out consisting of reserves/youth, and first team players playing like it was a friendly, not wanting to get injured, avoiding 50/50 tackles etc! Considering all their talk of getting 4th place at the start of the season in my eyes we have bragging rights over them massively, we beat them the only two times it mattered, including battering them 3-1 at their place!
People… in a Spurs fans eyes, they had a good year. End of.
so who will we have for RM next year then..
just theo and eboue? again?
‘Pedro i can’t agree on our season being a disappointment. Spurs was a disappointment, we weren’t.’
That was what I was replying to.
And our season was a massive disappointment!
Rosicky and Theo…
Can Vela play there? Merida? Gibbs? Randall? One of the ladies?
Finest and Pedro in his last two seasons Freddie was as poor as Eboue has been this season without offering anything defensively, and he was first choice whoever was fit! Regardless of what he’d done before his performance in any given season should still be analysed on its merits, not those of his past years. And even though he was a legend – I’m not asking why people didn’t think he was a prick etc like they do with Eboue, but why there weren’t the complaints about his selection.
Eboue wasn’t put back to right back when Sagna got injured because of 2 reasons – firstly that Arsene knew Toure had become a liability at centre back but wanted to keep him in the team for his experience etc, and secondly because he wanted to keep eboue right mid for his defensive attributes
i thought rosicky plays on the left…
gibbs and vela are LW…
randall ? don’t know…
barazite? or jack w?
If Chelsea don’t win the CL, Tottenham will be the only club in London to have won a trophy this season.
If the Carling Cup is so easy to win, why don’t we win it every year. Spurs had the advantage over us, they played their first team, and Wenger should have adjusted the team in accordance with the oppositions technical ability. For the academical purpose of seeing how could we’d be with the team we put out, he chucked away the chance of us winning some silverware. Spurs had a flukey final, and at the time Chelsea had lots of injury problems of their own, but they still beat Chelsea.
The Carling cup is a trophy WE can win, why chuck it away?
Fuck me….. 500 posts already. And the Asian connection isn’t awake yet !
A, Freddie helped make history at the club, he was a title winner, the fans respected him.
Eboue CONSISTENTLY fails to add quality to our game, his greatest contribution to Arsenal has been bad publicity.
Pedro, do you mean 4 points from winning the league, and an improvement from 68 pts to 83 pts a disappointment?
or just our failure after that birmingham game a disappointment?
Back to Freddie. In his final season people did think he was a waste of space , and seeing his name on the teamsheet led to sighs of disappointment.
But Freddie never dived to the ground pretending he had been arse-shafted. Eboue does and thats’s why people call him a cunt
It’s not real silverware!! If we wanted to win it every year we could make it our priority, and do so very very easily!! It has not more credibility for a top team than the Emirates cup! It’s only in england that there’s this obsession with silverware, the point of silverware is to signify the best team, most countries’ domestic cups are treated by the big clubs as a complete irrelevance, and they don’t play full teams in them, or win them the vast majority of the time, let alone the back up domestic cup! It’s like magpies’ obsession with shiny things rather than rational success!!
finest i think arsene got it wrong when he started with nick and theo upfront… and gallas and hoyte as CB against keane and berbatov!!!.. wtf…
Freddie was a great player, I can just hope Theo can play like him on the flanks next season.
hey, mauro zarate is linked with a loan deal i can see this actually happening
I’m guessing Gary Lewin has far more to do with on the spot treatment of players, then its down to the various Docs to diagnose and treat their injuries. As Physio he may be again involved later on once they begin their rehabilation, but again I doubt he has much to do with giving them the green light to return to the game, that will be down to the Doctor
Blaming Lewin for the injuries is plain daft: he’s commonly viewed as being the finest the English game can offer, hence his place on the English bench. He’s definately on the Champ side of the end of season analysis, and shame on people for suggesting otherwise
finest
I know freddie did, and his overall contribution to the club was immense. But people’s opinions about his past, and personality, should not affect their rational analysis of his performances and contribution to the team, just as with eboue people shouldn’t be prejudiced about his performances because of him being a nobhead!!
boys, do u forget simpson???????? he was briliant this season, and also named player of the championship. arsene trust in this boy he”s got a talent!!
Ok, ok – this is beyond a joke.
Eboue, was – depsite our great run to the ECL final, very OFTEN found about 60yds from where he was meant to be. This is NO excuse to keep him.
I won’t make any assumptions as to how many games “A” has been to this season, but it is plain to see Eboue DOES NOT TACKLE, he jogs back and ‘floats around’ the opposition player with the ball, he doesn’t jockey, he doesn’t defend goal-side, he doesn’t tackle and he doesn’t drop to RB when Sagna overlaps. Defensively he’s an abomination.
When we are attacking, he runs with his head down until AdeBarnDoor calls him, at which point the focus of his tunnel vision changes from ‘corner flag’ to ‘my best bum chum’. He flooks 3 decent crosses a season, scores NONE, and at best delivers 2-3 assists. His inability to beat *THE FIRST DEFENDER* with a cross is staggering. In fact he hits them so perfectly squarely that the ball almost never ricochets off for a corner or back into play.
Then we can observer his on-field antics. A butterfly flaps it’s wings in the south pacific and Eboue is felled by the resulting (invisible) gale-force hurricane – which always seems to hit him squarely in the face as he rolls around like a pig in shit. His kidney height kick on Evra was disgraceful.
Eboue is a cancer in the team, he brings nothing positive (can’t defend, assist, score) and more often than not the move breaks down around him. Furthermore he is so relentlessly selfish and jealous of Sagna that when Sagna gives him a 1-2 he will NEVER return the ball. Instead he turns around and looks for the lanky streak of piss we have the misfortune to be lumbered with called AdeBarnDoor.
Oh – and in closing – when he misses a shot or key pass – he has the audacity to turn around and grin like a fucking spastic and hold two thumbs up to the other frontrunner for most inept, accursed anathema to ever walk the planet, Ade.
I genuinely hope they both fuck off in the summer
kokaia
simpson was the player of league 1 not the championship, that isn’t that much of an achievement. He’ll move to a championship club or a promoted prem side at the very very best. He won’t ever get close to making it at arsenal
superb Alex
I’ve been to plenty of games this season thanks Alex, and Eboue slots back into right back anytime Sagna’s up the pitch and we lose possession, and tackles much more than anyone else who would play on either flanks for us.
In our run to the champions league final he completely nullified the threats of both Robinho and Nedved twice, his performances against both of those players was absolutely incredible
A, it’s often been called the Mickey Mouse cup and I can see your point, but my point is about winning every competition we can. It’s not the trophy itself, it’s the act of winning a competition. Surely it’s a greater shame to refuse to take part than to take an opportunity to win a competition. Whatever the name of the cup or the competition, we should be of the mentality that we should win every game, regardless of whether it’s a friendly or a competitive fixture, to me that’s the ethos of Arsenal, winning and not “allowing” other teams to win a competition that we’re capable of. We’re not a team that needs to make sacrifices to win other competitions, a Carling Cup trophy would be a psychological boost to all our players, winning is a habit and one that should be acquired and kept up at all available opportunity.
Carling Cup is not junk but is the least valuable trophy among the 4. The only reason we didn’t send our best team out to win it was we didn’t want to stretch on our first team.
We conscientiously chose to place our second team our to save energy for the first team. This was a gamble and we lost.
That still leads us to the same question, do you want to switch with spurs?
Joseph, I mean leading the premiership until 13 games to go… then choking and blowing the season.
Major disappointment. Wenger’s biggest disappointment in fact, mine too.
With Freddie, at least there was always a danger of him recapturing his form.
Comparing Eboue to Freddie is just as outrageous as comparing Eboue to Parlour. You can’t compare trophy winning legends to Eboue.
Eboue offers nothing, never has, never will.
Do you really think Wenger would put a weaker player in defence just to keep experience in the team? No way… he plays the best players he can… otherwise Gilberto would have filled in for Senderos. Why not put Toure in midfield for his defensive qualities? Toure has pace, can shoot (Kick ball towards goal hard) and probably cross better than Eboue.
And A… people are not prejudiced because of his personality, the are not prejudice… they are calling a spade a spade. He is useless and his personality makes him even more annoying!
Finestcuts, fair shout on the Carling Cup… we never win it do we?
Anyway… it’s been fun debating with you guys. Who said Le Grove block you if you disagree with the authors?
Good luck getting to 600!
I am off.
I may sneak on later!
Happy blogging.
Wesley Sneijder’s brother is playing for Netherlands U-17 … Wenger should snap him up
:)
Good shout Alex.
A- By your own admission silverware acknowledges the best team. The best team in the CC was Spurs. Maybe irrelevant but what competition was Arsenal best in??
This seasons european domestic cups:
France: PSG, final of the other cup between Lyon & PSG. (both massive names in France despite PSG not doing so well nowdays)
Spain: Valencia (Big name)
Italy: the final’s between Inter Milan & Roma (1st & 2nd in league)
Germany: DFB Pokal won by Bayern Munich.
How does that relate to the big names in europe not taking domestic cups seriously??
Pedro, I hate to talk behind your back but you can reply me when you are back.
If you are disappointed by being 4 points from winning the league, and an improvement from 68 pts to 83 pts, then our season was a disappointment and we need a revolution.
If you are disappointed by just our failure after being leading for so long, while we had exceed your expectation in the beginning of the year, then it is not the end of the world. It means our squad is basically good and we only need a tweak or 2.
Pedro, with a healthy Rosicky, dudu, van persie and a improved theo, can we get 4 more points? You tell me?
A i’m sorry mate ,im withFinest and pedro and alex on the eboue subject mate , pedro has nailed it again ,
EBOUE IS A DISGARCE TO THE SHIRT ,
THINK OF SOME OF THE GREAT RM’S IN THE LAST 30 YEARS AT OUR CLUB
GEORDIE A,
ROCKY (LEGEND)
FREDDIE
RAY P
THEY HAVE ALL LEFT POSITIVE MARKS AT THE CLUB
EBOUE NEVER HAS NEVER WILL……………..
Perhaps if Eboue got a Gallas haircut and dyed it like Freddie he might be more liked!
if he would make an attempt and stop acting like a baby he might be more liked!!!
Joseph, I can’t say for certain & I certainly don’t want to put words in Pedro’s mouth, but from his previous comments over many posts I’d say he doesn’t see this league season as a complete disaster but that he wants to challenge for all trophies available not just 1 or 2. You start the season with a chance of winning 4 trophies & there’s no reason we shouldn’t have a squad capable of making a great challenge for each.
I think Pedro’s said several times he’d be happy with 3 new signings. Of course though I could be wrong!!
That Snickers advert with Mr T springs to mind .
Joseph, for me to be ahead for so long and then to die away when the pressure was on, that for me is a disappointment, an improvment on last season, for sure but that is by doing poor last season,
pedro will no doubt confirm what we all think and a few improvments are needed,
AW himself does not judge his success on others but on what he achievs, chelsea and man u did nto have good starts,
“But I don’t think about Arsenal now, I am just focused on Portsmouth. We have reached the final and that is why I am here. I hope I can win more this season than Arsenal have – but we’ll have to see.”
that prick diarra, go fuck your self,
please can we all get over this guy,
One more defensive stat which proves Eboue isn’t as helpful defensively as perhaps some might assume. He was brought in to help us defensively to strike the right “balance” in the team overall, right?
Are Portsmouth better than Arsenal (rhetorical question)?
Lets compare their Right Winger’s stats with ours.
Portsmouth:
RW = Krancjar
EPL minutes played = 2854 = 37.7 games played
Clean sheets = 15
Clean sheet every 2.11 games
Arsenal:
RW = Eboue
EPL minutes played = 1651 = 18.3 games played
Clean sheets = 8
Clean sheet every 2.29 games
Fact: Arsenal have LESS chance of a clean sheet than Portsmouth when Eboue plays on Right Wing.
Does anyone think that we can get Zarate on a one year loan?
http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/arsenal/arsenalnews/display.var.2271257.0.gunners_boss_keen_on_zarate.php
Reports in Spain on Wednesday linked Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor with a move to Barcelona. Here’s his response:
“I don’t know why people want to put words in my mouth. As I said on Friday, I love Arsenal and I will be here next season.
“I am off to Togo tomorrow but will return to Arsenal for pre-season training in July.”
arsenal.com
and this is bizarre
A SUSPICOUS white powder that arrived in a package at Arsenal Football Club’s training ground this morning was not dangerous.
Staff at the training ground in London Colney feared the package contained a lethal substance and immediately called the emergency services at around 11.55am.
Tests revealed the substance was not dangerous but police are treating the incident as malicious.

Hemel Hempstead fire crew, who were covering at St Albans fire station today, were on stand-by to decontaminate anyone but were not needed.
Simon Feldman, a police spokesman, said: “The package was sent through the post and then opened by staff.
“We are investigating this as malicious communication.”
The main entrance to the ground in Bell Lane was closed off until 1.15pm.
It is not known who the package was addressed to.

As I pre-stated – I’m making no assumptions as to the frequency of your attendance “A”, but clearly either I and 59,998 other “one-eyed” fans are missing these ‘great defensive’ moments in Eboue’s repertoire – or you are seeing things that aren’t happening.
I suggest, as an example of “how it should be done” you watch the way Carlos Tevez (the forward) defends from a STRIKER position, and, so you have a middle ground to compare against on the perpetually downsliding scale, the efficiency of a thalidomide ostrich on it’s back trying to run. Then compare it to your favoured Eboue, who exists some 20 fathoms below the maligned fowl.
I HATE to dislike Arsenal players, but I despise Eboue and I find Ade abhorrent.
Eboue used to be a right back. And his last season in that position was good. Lapses in concentration cost us. It cost him his place. You cannot deny he has defensive qualities, pace and works hard for the team. He was subject to a 10m inquiry (if you believe the press) from Milan.
In him we have decent cover for right back and right mid in ONE player. He’ll never be world class, but do back up players have to be?
Joseph the reason that we are disappointed with our season is because we won fuck all. I don’t care how many points we got the Mancs and chavs got more, the spuds won the carling cup and the FA cup is between two shit clubs.
I don’t spend my money going to the Grove to see how many points we get, I go to see us win silverware.
If your happy with finishing third, fine, I’m not and neither are most people on this site.
A, Eboue is shit, as again most people on this site agree, if he was that good, we wouldn’t have bought Sagna, he is not a winger, he’ll be okay as a spare right back but not as a winger.
His best position is back in Belgium, where I preferred him.
Archavin , the St petersburgh player maker look a real deal, he was heavily linked with Arsenal back in january.
I hope he’s one the 220 players that want to join us.
He is a third or even fourth choice right back behind Kolo and he is should never wear an Arsenal shirt.
Even when he goes down in the box we have no hope of a penalty because refs know he is a serial diver.
I used to think this site attacked Wenger for no reason but in this instance they are spot on..
He does look good I’ll give you that but would he be in our league?
I love the fact that Rangers fans wear the Union flag, unlike those cunts from Celtic.
The announcer at the game is an irritating cunt isn’t he?
Okay I’m done talking to myself, I’m off!
hey…!!!
I think so Geoff, The Russian league has gradually picked up in the last 4 or 5 years !
He’s two footed and very quick, think he’d do well in the premiership!
its quiet in here
Bit late in the day but I’d split my vote for Chump of the year betwen the scottish commentator on the Brum v Arsenal game and “Tiny” Taylor.
The former becasue the way he was talking he made it sound like it was always Arsenal’s players faults for getting hacked/kicked becasue “they held onto the ball for too long”
The latter for obvious reasons.
Brum FC – rot in Championship hell this year and take your porn baron owner with you (further down the leagues you scum) !
haha good rant charybdis
The commentator obviously thinks quality football consists of “kick and run” as practised by the Salford Red Sox.
A member of the media ejaculating over ManUre – what a surprise !
Abdenor, I agree, Arshavin looks like class
Why is the Daily Mail running a real anti Arsenal campaign?? Its getting really boring now.
Adebayor on the website says:
Reports in Spain on Wednesday linked Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor with a move to Barcelona. Here’s his response:
“I don’t know why people want to put words in my mouth. As I said on Friday, I love Arsenal and I will be here next season.
“I am off to Togo tomorrow but will return to Arsenal for pre-season training in July.”
Then this evening the Daily Mail continue their pathetic campaign to ruin the club with their new story about Ade being desperate to join Barca:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=566466&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow
haha…
news is that traore is going out on loan to pompey…
does that in any way mean that we are getting krancjar?
Finest looking at the stats you posted Eboue had half the games and half the clean so I hope you mean that Krancjar is as useless as Eboue
“sheets”
GMR, I suspect either the Daily Mail has a spud/chav/manc sports editor or they have a vested interest in destabilising us.
But as I’ve said before, f**k the rest of the world, “we are Arsenal, Super Arsenal, no one (in the media) likes us, we don’t care.
Have to say I absolutely loved it when Birningham city went down. Hopefully they are completely fucked now for the rest of their history and will not get another sniff of the premier league until it has been exported to Japan for a season by Scudamore. That’ll teach the wankers to send out players with the instructions like “You Matty!, as soon as you get a chance do that little Brazillian guy good style. Clip him hard!!”
Big Eck?, more like oh Eck!!
Another blog is saying we are letting Song go on loan for a year. Does that mean a centre half is on his way?
i read that somewhere too…
but i dont think song needs to go out on loan…
david.. where have you been… a CB is a definite signing this summer!!!!
Ben Arfa was a definite yesterday now Spurs seem to have stepped in.
I just want to see Wenger next to a quality player with a shirt with his name on at the Emirates, and with Song going it makes me feel more confident that he is going to be good cos I think he rates Song.
I think that Song would be a good squad player for us next season we should hold on to him
good night folks!
Terry, my point was to show how playing with Eboue DOESN’T improve us defensively and makes us just as vulnerable as a mid-table team in defence using the minutes to clean sheets ratio. With the welcome news of Rosicky’s comeback in August we won’t be needing either Rosicky or Krancjar (hopefully we won’t have Walcott and Rosicky injured/unavailable at the same time, otherwise diamond geezer Eboue will take the slot).
With bread off to some small town club (maybe Villareal might be more his scene), or so he’d like us to believe, we need a replacement on left wing. We already have Carlos Vela, just one more top class winger and we’re ready to fight for trophies again.
I read the news about Traore and Song on young guns. The chap who writes that blog gives off the impression that he has inside info, we’ll have to wait and see how accurate his reports are but it contradicts with recent news from the club that Wenger is re-assessing our loan policy.. I’m not in any kind of position to be able to say how accurate J.Sanderson of Young Guns is. I like his site, but have no clue whatsoever as to how he sources his information and how reliable it is. If it turns out to be true, I’ll certainly be paying closer attention to his posts.
Sorry won’t be needing Eboue or Krancjar, see post above. I wish there was an edit option, I hate proof-reading my own stuff, so damn tedious. All I need is a sexretary to do my typing for me.
Source: Daily Mail
Adebayor said: “There is not a player who could say no to Barcelona. I don’t know if it will happen now, in two years or 10, but I would love to play there.
“Perhaps things will change tomorrow, I don’t know. For now, I have to wait. It is clear it would make me very happy to play for Barcelona because it is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“I can’t close the door because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. If Arsenal tell me I have to go, I’ll go. I don’t care what happens, I will go. But for that to happen, Barca need to make an offer.”
Adebayor added: “If Barcelona make an offer for me and reach an agreement with Arsenal, I would be delighted to go and play there.”
I believe Adebayor can sue for slander if he didn’t actually say this. I don’t believe it anyway, but the Daily Mail have to be one of the worst sources of news for football in the world. Apart the “Epping Forest Guardian” who just re-hash any story on newsnow and present it as “news”.
sexretary intresting word finest sounds good I got the point about Eboue but some people were calling for wenger to sing Krancjar
had to be made up the reporter couldnt understand him so wrote a load of bullshit
Terry, Krancjar is not a bad player, he would fit into our style of play, but he isn’t a “top, top player”, I reckon he could get better at Arsenal but he is good enough. We don’t need him though, and there are better players than him available.
It’s a bit like the Richard Dunne scenario, he would be good for us, but he isn’t the cream of the crop. He could become that with a bit of Arsenal training though, like so many good players who have joined our team over the years.
Krancjar and Dunne could be good squad players give us a bit of strenght in depth
I think Huntelaar could be off to Chelsea
:
“If a really big club expressed an interest in me as their first-choice striker, then I would keep my options open. ”
With Drogba looking for the door, the first choice vacancy is filled everywhere else.
Wenger would never say “you’re ahead of Adebayor and RVP”.
He could go to Milan, Berlusconi keeps making noises about his old buddy Sheva.
However:
“I want to play in the European Champions League next season, therefore I wouldn’t join a club not qualified for the tournament.”
I have a distant hope it’s us, he is top top class, he could cost us a Champions League trophy at some point….or help win us one.
Hey I think you guys should lay off Eboue. I just looked back at some highlights last season where we played Hamburg in the CL. We came from 1-0 down to win the 3-1.
Eboue is the one who got us our second goal to go ahead. Baptista finished it off with a cross from Theo very late in the game.
That was instrumental in us winning the group. Eboue accelerated past his defender and hit a hard low shot and beat the keeper at the near post. The shot was very good pity he couldnt reproduce this year. I think he has lost form and also was played out of position.
He is a good squad player. I think we have bigger worries than him. The bigger worry is us keeping leads and having a killer instinct.
Even though it is true we dont need a striker for the long term, we certainly do need one for the short term, we know Ade alone cant do it. We dont know whether Vpersie or Eduardo will be ready so we may need to loan someone again like how we did baptista last year.
Baptista had 10 goals and 8 assists for us last year which is not that bad. Even though he got 4 in one game against Liverpool. Just for that I rate him because this year we couldnt score more than 2 against them in a game, which cost us. We need another loan striker or player which can contribute a similar amount. or we could just hope and pray again that Vpersie Rosciky stay healthy and we dont know if or when Eddy willl ever be the same.
I hope we win next year.
The thing is i am not an Ade basher but he will definitely need help because not many strikers can reproduce 20-30 goal seasons.
Statistically we cannot expect him to repeat this. Thierry Henry is the only man I believe to score 20+ league goals for about 5 straight seasons. I think the only times he never scored 20 were his first and last seasons at the club.
Who else has crossed 20 goals so frequently…..Shearer in his days…Andy Cole in his days….Van nistleroy did it 4 times out of his 5 years.
Michael Owen never did it, he was always 16-18….Roney has never done even though he has so much hype around him. So you as you can see very few have done this feat.
And we know Ade is not yet in the league of TH14 Van nistle Roy etc.
So unless our sick forwards and midfielders heal we definitly need more goal scorers, hence the need to get an attacking player on loan. Who knows we may even sign the person if he is good enough.
Loan signings? who’re you suggesting? they’re not many top line forwards who’re on the outer at their clubs and available for loan. Adriano? Crespo? Baptista again? puh-lease.
If you want another forward, and personally i don’t think we do because as we’ve seen at the tail of this season that Bendtner and Walcott showed that they’re definitely going to be getting more game time next year and we’ve got a whole offseason for Van Persie to get fit and Rosicky to fix his legs.
But if you want a forward and a good one to boot we’re going to have to purchase him outright, not some namby pamby try before you buy deal. Who’d go in for that? ZERO CLUBS is the answer.
What happened to the night shift? I went to bed and Ben Arfa was in the bag and Ade was happy and I wake up and Tottenham have Arfa and Ade want to go to Barca!
Thank god it was the Daily smell that said it!
As far as i can see there is pretty much nothing on the news now wire about Tottenham and Ben Arfa and Adebayor pretty much only said that there arnt many footballers who wouldnt want to play for Barcelona, which isn’t an unusual statement.
It’s probably an awful translation anyway, there’s no context to give weight to the article.
Its official. Eboue & Hleb send Le Grove comments to 575.
Whats official?? Have I missed something.
Geoff,
Mirror.com
Wenger is close to sealing a £6million deal for Lyon midfielder Hatem Ben Arfur.
GMR, There have been 579 comments that stemmed mainly from banter about Eboue & Hleb. No official signings as yet. Sorry if i worked you up.
Worked him up GG9 !!! Sounds a bit gay to me…..
Big raddy, Are you saying I like it up the Arse(enal)?
GG9, I make no judgemnet upon your sexuality , and anyway, that is entirely your business.
There is bugger all on NewsNow to comment on. Just the usual stories bandied about by agents.
This interests me though – Zarate was on loan a B’rum, because a Qatar club had paid £10 million for him, and want their money back !! If the Arabs start buying and selling young talent, the transfer fees are going to rocket,
At the moment it is just a few clubs in Eurpoe that can afford these stupid transfer fees, what happens when the Far Eastern clubs develop their leagues, and start to compete? Should be interesting
hatem ben arfa for £6m that cant be right, this is lyon, they love ripping clubs off
I’ll take being worked up over being oiled up every time!!!
Mauro Zarate, does seem like a hernan crespo type of player…. if wenger can sign him for £6-8m i think that wont be too bad
……then whipped with a birch branch by a buxom scandanavian whench
alberto gilardino is available at £10m
tried that GG9 – it stings !!
Gnarley – does she have to scandanavian, i can’t afford to be that choosey you see!!
when we getting le champ? I need some sleep, tee time at 630 this morning
when we getting le champ? I need some sleep, tee time at 630 this morning. need to be ready and awake come morning.
Big,
Ah! Its good to see the old George to Radford to George working again.
I know little of HBA, except for the Youtube stuff. I cannot understand why he is not a first team player for Lyon (I do not buy the ‘Benzema doesn’t like him’ stuff).
Have any of you seen him play 90 minutes? Can he tackle? Does he track back as AW will demand? Is he a good finisher?
Can someone tell me what all the fuss is about? (who has seen more than Youtube)
GG9…..
HBA is apparently the new Zidane, but with hair. I don’t know whether that means coz he’s from the same country as Zidane or plays like him. But I think we are going to find out if all reports are right.
I’m pretty sure I saw Zarate play for an Argentine youth team at Craven Cottage once – no wait, Lee Hendry played in that game too. But there was someone who looked like Zarate who played really well! He’ll be about ten years older now though. We should sign him.
Have we ticked over to 600 comments yet?
DDM, Birch whipping is apparently an old Scandanavian custom, but then again, belly dancing is an old Middle eastern custom, and I’ve seen a few fat Aussie shielas having a go at that, so Hey!!!!
Based on that evidence Timao, you should definitely part of the Tottenham Scouting Dept !
OK… if he is the ‘new Zidane’ we should get him.
But how many ‘new George Best’s’ , new Maradona’s’ have we seen?
i dont mind mauro zarate coming, he looks like the business, typical wenger signing, we aint going to sign a david villa, mario gomez, huntelaar
GG9 – And who am i to knock such a superb scandanavian custom, bring it on that’s what i say!
Been living in Scandaland for a few years now and never seen any birch scars !!
If I was AW, my main target would be Ronaldinho. I want us to have a World Profile, TH14 has that, and so does Goofy. Villa, Huntelaar etc don’t.
DDM, Here! Here! Time in a sauna with naked Scandanavian horn bags, then getting whipped with a stinging birch branch, then jumping into freezing cold ice water sounds civilised to me. Then a warm Carlsberg to get the blood flowing again.
BR- I’ll happily take that job. My first signing will be Jermaine Defoe, I reckon I can get him for about £16mil?
Apparently Ben Arfa isn’t in the first team at Lyon because he is selfish & won’t pass the ball to players in better positions. Thats the view of his manager anyway!!
Did anyone read the Lassana Diarra story “Arsene Wenger was my Nemesis”?
Ok fellas, gotta go now. My Le Champ is Fab4, Cheers.
dani alves would be a good signing for the right wing, very attacking minded and we can do swap with eboue…..
give them £10m on top
Do you really believe Diarra knows the word ‘Nemesis’ ? If ever there was a made up journo story, this is it.
Sevilla turned down £20+ m from the Chavs last summer. If we could get him for £10m, it would be quite a coup !
ooops…. I valued EE at £0 ! He must be worth something….
Yeah quite – I had to check on Wikipedia for a definition “the spirit of divine retribution against those who succumb to hubris” seems fair enough!
So what the Diarra is basically saying in The Mirror (whether he realises it or not) is, I’m an arrogant twat and Wenger found me out, that’s why I was shipped out.
