First things first, Ade if you’re reading this we apologise for ripping into you yesterday after we all read the Daily Mail back page.
We said, if it wasn’t true, go on Arsenal.com and say so, you did, a little late mind, but you did, so Arsenal, go sue the shit out of the Daily Mail, maybe the money we get would fund a player!
Shame Hleb hadn’t the same class as Adebayor, unless he does something soon I think he should be shoved in the stiffs for a season, greedy bastard, just like Flamini, shit for 3 years, 1 good season and he wants out.
The Sun says we’ve signed Ben Arfa for £16 million and we have been alerted over Richards as he ponders his future, well after yesterdays debacle, I’ll wait and see what Arsenal.com say about that.
Top four Tottenham joker Jenas says they can finish above Arsenal next season, they say that every season don’t they? they can’t even finish in the top ten yet they still tell the press they can finish above us, what a complete bunch of talentless wankers, enough time spent on them, that’s probably more than’s been said than all the blog sites in Tottenham this week, both of them!
There is a chance that someone can get Samir Nasri from LOM for £12 million, please let it be us, he is just what we need, Hleb like but with an end product, bring him in and sling Hleb out, or at least give him some competition.
Have Ben Arfa out wide and Ramos at center back and we’d do anyone, that would have me licking my lips, that’s for sure.
A word on 80’s muppet ‘SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER’S’ very own, Kevin Keegan, he tells the world that to break into the top 4 would take £150 million, whilst south coast’s ‘dodgy’ muppet backed him up, and he’s spent zillions himself, as well as benefiting hugely from our benevolence.
Funny that, I thought Newcastle had spent as much as the Mancs and the scousers over the Premiership years, Kev son, do your homework before you open your gob, you twat.
Same of course could be said of us over Ade (get the facts first) but as soon as we found out it was rubbish, we retracted, and that’s the way professions handle situations, know when you’ve made a huge mistake and do something about it, are you reading Arsenal???

Le Grove is now smart phone compatible!

May 10, 2008 at 08:46
Yep sign Nasri asap, 12 mil is cheap!
Cant see that Ben Arfa story anywhere?
May 10, 2008 at 08:46
Apparently the Mirror are reporting that we are after Vincent Kompany from Hamburg. I just think the journo’s read these sorts of websites & then stick in a name the fans want so people buy the paper.
May 10, 2008 at 08:47
There’s no chance we’ll sign Ben Arfa, Nasri or anyone else like that, stop dreaming.
May 10, 2008 at 08:49
Evo, it’s in the Sun, GMR you could be right, but him or Ramos would do it!

My friend who is close to Ben Arfa called me yesterday and told me Arfa is on the way to Arsenal and the sun says we’ve singed him.I think it is true.Good news
May 10, 2008 at 08:53
Phobia- your guru ways better be right, i hope your on the money!
i just found the story, not much to read into it, but it would be glory days if he’s on the way!
May 10, 2008 at 08:53
How close?
May 10, 2008 at 08:56
There may be truth in Arsenal contacting Lyon over Ben Arfa but I just cannot believe Lyon would have passed that info on to the player just yet what with them being in a title struggle with Bordeaux.
I just can’t see them unsettling a player they may need just yet & also they are an extremely difficult club to deal with, if Arsenal had made a bid I think they’d have made it public news in the hope of getting others interested & forcing the price up. They have done that with just about every player they’ve sold in recent times so I can’t see that changing now.
May 10, 2008 at 09:01
I just had my first AKB on Grovers, I forgot it’s Saturday and it’s a school holiday, apparantley we’re not allowed to speculate on newspaper stories now!
May 10, 2008 at 09:02
Phobia
my close friend ade said he wants more money next season too
May 10, 2008 at 09:04
nasri or ben arfa would be tasty. not gonna cry too much if “white ronaldihno” takes his 11 goals in three years to milan
May 10, 2008 at 09:07
I can’t find anything on ‘The sun’s’ website regarding Ben Arfa!! Is it just in the actual paper rather than online??
May 10, 2008 at 09:10
only a small snipper GMR, here you go–>

May 10, 2008 at 09:11
I found it on Libel football but they quote the Sun.
Arsenal are set to land Olympique Lyon wing ace Hatem Ben Arfa.
The Sun says the Gunners have won the race to grab Ben Arfa.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger beat Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to land the Tunisia-born star.
And Wenger has agreed a £16million deal for the 21-year-old, who was called into the French national team last season as a replacement for Louis Saha.
May 10, 2008 at 09:11
may be just press, but a signing like that would be excellent news this early in the transfer window. i agree, ben afra is the kind of player we need, ball-skills and finishing ability. i like this news, thanks for the info geoff.
May 10, 2008 at 09:12
So Nasri, Ben Arfa in….1 more to go? who’s it gonna be?
May 10, 2008 at 09:13
You’re welcome James, let’s hope it’s true, I think there’s been too much Ben Arfa talk for it not to be.
May 10, 2008 at 09:13
Thanks for the link Evo!!
May 10, 2008 at 09:16
morning chaps , just why do I drink red wine , headache . Anyway . hope the ben arfa thing is true and well done to arsene for coming out and giving milan a fucking good slagging and stating the values of the arsenal and for telling hleb to shut up and get on with it . I am really not sure about whats going on with hleb but a least the boss is saying fuck you , i will do whats right for the club noy you ,
perhaps arsene is growing some balls , bout time , now get the ballsy cheque book out
May 10, 2008 at 09:18
Here, here!
May 10, 2008 at 09:18
Yeah Wenger did well in the press conference, i think it was because of the shirt he was wearing!
May 10, 2008 at 09:19
Arsene’s made himself look a fool with the comments regarding AC Milan.
We continually go looking for free transfers with kids which morally has to be worse than taking an established player on a free.
As for our history being clean I take it he’s forgotten about our dodgy promotion & GG brown paper bag!!
May 10, 2008 at 09:21
cheers geoff
also , yes james , would,nt it be great to get some good signings on early
a , before euros increase valuation
b, so we don,t have wait untill 11.55pm on august tha 31st !!
May 10, 2008 at 09:23
come come gmr , at least wenger is having a go , do want him to say nothing.
May 10, 2008 at 09:25
Don’t get too carried away guys. It’s the F***ing Sun!! Nasri would be even better though.
May 10, 2008 at 09:26
soz about the typing this am , must be still pissed .
May 10, 2008 at 09:31
Unfortunately Ben Arfa only made a small paragraph in the actual paper, and I am sure if there was more to it, then it would probably be getting a headline. At least its positive not negative like yesterday
Kompany is a link going in the right direction, although Micah Richards would be good he is smaller than Kolo and Gallas, and I think Wenger is after tall and commanding.
May 10, 2008 at 09:35
Pat I just realised it’s Pat the gooner, not Patthe gooner, what a plonker I am!!!
I’m in and out today guys, so if a knobber gets on you lot deal with him, don’t forget it’s Saturday! Kompany would be good though.
May 10, 2008 at 09:36
Im not going to continue my rants from yesterday im over it ..
however geoff /pedro one last rant for 2day as you NEW POSTED ME !
I wouldn’t apologize to ade .. this article came out in april and no one on A.COM
commented on it then ! yesterdays article never said he would leave .. people presumed that because he was asking for 80 k (which arsene wouldn’t pay in a pink fit )
He wants a wage rise or theyll look at other options or as his agent said !
his agent also said this !
ades agent in april !
“We have not received concrete offers,” said Adebayor’s representative Stephane Courbis. ( ade didn’t have a press conference in april about that 1st sentence !)
“Obviously, it is logical that Emmanuel is demanded. ( what are you telling us here?)
“I have to meet his club when the season ends to speak about his future.(more money please ! or he will reconsider his options obviously)
“Today he is happy at Arsenal, he showed it on Monday, but you know football, everything goes very quickly. (how about tomorrow when you dont get 80k ?)
“However, we will not talk before the season ends, as Arsenal are focused on trying to finish second.” (seasons close to ending tomorrow in fact so ill come out friday whilst arsenal is in turmoil and have the cunts over a barrel ! )
Today he is happy at Arsenal, ???? sounds very TH14 too me !
it sounds like his wages will now be talked about behind closed doors !
but where you right in yesterdays post ??? OBVIOUSLY !
ade only came out yesterday and said he’s not leaving ,
technically he’s correct ! currently he isnt .. we pay him im sure he will stay !
theres no smoke without fire .. and his agent made a press release on both occasions
i know how i read into it ..
he’s currently getting 35 k … he wants 80 !
like him or not im sure he’s after greasing his palms for his 30 goal display
this season , no matter how he acquired them !
im sure if arsene dont come to the party , we might get this all come back to haunt us again !
May 10, 2008 at 09:41
hahaha…that will be the day Ethan….maybe you need a few more San Miguels to sooth your thoughts!
May 10, 2008 at 09:45
Ben Arfa like sagna are reports im inclined to believe .
he is the only real target arsene has come out and spoken about .
he isnt going to cost mega bucks like eto – robinho etc..
powers of observations say he is the odds on runner to be in the arsenal squad
next season providing all the prices and conditions can be worked out ..
its a no brainer for me that there is substance to this rumor ..
i mean how can phobia be wrong !!?
May 10, 2008 at 09:46
spurs will finish above arsenal?!!!!
that will be the day
cnut jenas… one carling cup victory and they want to finish above us??
twat…
May 10, 2008 at 09:49
So Ethan you can’t be persuaded then!
May 10, 2008 at 09:51
evo
sorry mate i only drink top shelf
black russian doubles ! maybe
May 10, 2008 at 09:52
mmmm, san miguel… i like beer! =D
still though, no way he’s getting 80k pounds p/w, no fucking way! 50 is the height of any raise that he’ll get, and even that is a massive increase in his annual wage, somewhere in the range of 40% i think. the other bad thing about this is that if arsene does cave to demands (doubtful, but who knows (if they are true demands too)), it reduces the amount we can spend (not that thats a problem with highbury being sold, etc), and also lets the other players know that if they kick up a stink, they can potentially get a 200% increase in there annual wage… utter bullshit imo, rumours like this should be slapped down as soon as it surfaces in a most thorough manner!
May 10, 2008 at 09:53
only if i can persuade you on SONG
May 10, 2008 at 09:54
Pat
vincent kompany whilst lean is 190 cm tall !
he will tower over both gallas and toure !
he’s mobile He is considered “one of Europe’s premier talents
he will do just fine !
Glad arsene is listening
May 10, 2008 at 09:55
so if we did sign ben arfa.. for 16 mill… wouldn’t it be the biggest transfer ever.
May 10, 2008 at 09:55
possibly…
May 10, 2008 at 09:56
Ethan
I am going to leave Ade here, I think the one thing we agree on is that he is not currently worth 80k a week but lets deal in facts
There is no direct quote from either Ade or Ade’s agent demanding anything, let alone 80k. If he had said that, the Mail would have quoted it
The quotes made in April were in response to questions put to the agent regarding supposed interest from AC Milan. Unfortunately you only see the quotes and not the actual questions put to them and it is the reporters job to ask the right question to get the response they wanted in the first place
Agents talk is always going to aimed at getting more money for his client, it is his job. I personally dont listen to anything that an agent says.
May 10, 2008 at 09:57
ethan did you not say recently that your were givin up the ade bashing?
of was that someone else,
May 10, 2008 at 09:57
*or was that someone else?
May 10, 2008 at 10:01
chris
maybe
May 10, 2008 at 10:04
get on the speculation band wagon, thats way more fun!
May 10, 2008 at 10:05
Adebayor knows there are fans who support him, he knows also how tough the pressure is at the top. The best way to show your appreciation is to sing: “Adebayor, bring him the ball and he will score”
Ade has heard the fans and loves the tune, so Ade bring us the goals and we’ll keep singing.
It’s exciting to see Adebayor score, his goals are really blasts out of the blue and sudden, that’s one of his great skills, quickly getting into a position which is indefensible to get a good ball and bang it in…..unstoppable. To score as many “unstoppables” as he has shows the instinct of a true striker….thats how top strikers make their trade.
Wenger’s statements were strong and positive and challenged everyones ability to think for themselves, he presented as many facts as he could publicly about our scouting system (220 on the books “Arsenal” quality.) and once again put his head on the line for the club with hist intent on action within the transfer market, and how many points we’re aiming for. How many other clubs are aiming for 90-92 points next season?
The mass media should always be brought to account for their inaccuracies, and well done Geoff for highlighting the Daily Mail, those Newspaper brands who only go by “rumours” or complete and utter fabrications need to be given as much attention as a story itself. Too often we see Newspaper articles and no one asks, who the fuck wrote this and why.
People have been trained to read a Newspaper and not even check who wrote it, sometimes accepting or rejecting nformation without justification!
May 10, 2008 at 10:05
here is a great tip for you guys,
if you are ever on a site that requires registration to read an article and you dont want to go thru the motions and give your email away
go to http://www.bugmenot.com type in the website eg http://www.nytimes.com and get login and password from there, been using it for years
May 10, 2008 at 10:08
is that diaby finest cuts?
May 10, 2008 at 10:10
chris.. does that work for ahem… the other sites as well??
May 10, 2008 at 10:10
it looks like it, a bold statement for next season?
May 10, 2008 at 10:11
it might well do, but it wont get you into sites that cost money, has a disposabl email service as well which is great
May 10, 2008 at 10:11
Ethen something is wrong with your email, I get half your comments in moderation. We never used to.
Finest, is that Abou Diaby in your picture?
May 10, 2008 at 10:12
hey guys
hatem ben arfa and samir nasri would be great, stick abou diaby in the middle now.
but both of these guys are not wingers though, but arsene loves his full backs to get forward.
Vincent Kompany is good, but i think we should go for Lucio, he is tall and will win that long ball against us
May 10, 2008 at 10:14
Cheers Chris, that was one I already know about but you seem very clued up about softtware and sites. I have a few I could suggest myslelf…..maybe we could do a user suggestion of useful websites/free software, a seperate little section, I’m sure between us we could all find a few to contribute that tohers may not be aware of. Yes Choy, you’re spot on, it’s Diaby, only a proper Arsenal fan would know that
May 10, 2008 at 10:14
Either would do me Gunnershabz, I’m off for a bit will return later.
May 10, 2008 at 10:15
I work out in Germany a fair bit and they all rave about a defender that plays for Werder Bremen called Per Mertesacker
I have never seen him but they reckon he would suit Arsenal, Anyone seen him play?
May 10, 2008 at 10:16
ben arfa is not a winger? gunnershabz…?
May 10, 2008 at 10:17
Hatem Ben Arfa, am sure he loves to play through the middle and also Samir Nasri, so i am confused… are we going to get a geniune winger.
am dreaming, if we have carlos vela, hatem ben arfa and samir nasri in midfield next season.
Vincent Kompany, Cristian Zapata and Ezequil Garay are the defenders we should be looking at and also micah richards if we can afford him.
May 10, 2008 at 10:17
maybe you have unwittingly put in a anti ade bashing filter Geoff
Lucio is a great shout Gunnershabz, is he not over 30 though? shame we have that silly rule especially for defenders.
May 10, 2008 at 10:17
finest do you know what rapidshare is
May 10, 2008 at 10:17
Mertsacker is a beast Pat.
May 10, 2008 at 10:18
Valencia have received a £15 million bid from Inter Milan for midfielder David Silva.
DiarioSport says Barcelona and Real Madrid are also chasing the Spain international, but it’s Inter who have moved first with their major offer.
Barca have registered their interest with Valencia, but are yet to table a formal proposal.
David Silva is good, and wenger was interested in him few seasons back
May 10, 2008 at 10:19
I dont think Micah is an option, he will cost too much in the bidding war and he is smaller than Song, Toure and Gallas, so could be considered too similar to what we have
May 10, 2008 at 10:19
Lucio is 29 years old
defenders between 27 and 31 are in their peak
May 10, 2008 at 10:20
Is that a good beast or a crap one Geoff
May 10, 2008 at 10:20
Lazio midfielder Valon Behrami wants a move to Spain.
Italian sources say the Switzerland international has already instructed his agents to find him a Spanish Liga club for next season.
Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla are among those being linked with Behrami.
another good buy, right winger, better then eboue
May 10, 2008 at 10:21
I agree with you GunnerShabz but Wenger has this over 30 one year contract rule
Just checked his stats, he was 30 2 days ago
May 10, 2008 at 10:22
Barcelona are returning to the negotiating table for Racing Santander defender Ezequiel Garay.
With Gabriel Milito ruled out for six months due to knee injury, Barca are back in the market for a new centre-half and are ready to resume talks with Racing for youngster Garay.
Racing are seeking at least £10 million for Garay, who had agreed personal terms with Barca in January before the original deal collapsed.
We can nick him if wenger is real interested…. cultured centre back
May 10, 2008 at 10:22
Pat….
But we need someone like him experienced played in world cup finals, champions league
he is what we need at this current time and he great at set pieces
May 10, 2008 at 10:23
The agent of Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani has cooled reports of a move to Arsenal.
“Aquilani is a Roma player and I don’t think Rosella Sensi will let these players get away,” said agent Franco Zavaglia.
“Francesco Totti will end his career in a Roma jersey, while Daniele De Rossi and Aquilani are requested by the top European clubs, but I doubt either of them will want to leave.”
i think aquilani would been a great addition to the midfield
May 10, 2008 at 10:24
I’ve just googled it Chris, I take it it’s a favourite of yours to find apps. to download.
May 10, 2008 at 10:24
May 08′ Wenger – We will sign one attacking player.
Sep 08′ Wenger – Rosicky is a” new signing” (with a side grin)
&%^&%
May 10, 2008 at 10:25
If that David Silva story is true, I wonder where that leaves Hleb,
They are very similar players. I wonder if Inter dont want the hassle of either being accused of an illegal approach or a drawn out legal battle to get him on article 17
May 10, 2008 at 10:27
Definately Lucio has looked excellent everytime I have seen him.
do you think Wenger would drop the over 30 rule though, and would he move from Bayern. It would be a quality signing though
May 10, 2008 at 10:28
i am so curious who are the “220 players want to join arsenal”
david villa is sure one of them
hatem ben arfa and samir nasri am sure they would love to join arsenal
May 10, 2008 at 10:28
;-}
May 10, 2008 at 10:29
it appears that i owe ade an apology also. However i believe it is important that players do speak up and support the manager and club and pledge some loyalty. We as fans will only scream our hearts out for a team and players we know will also show support for us. It works both ways. Always support Arsene though no question, no doubt ,BELIEVE!!
May 10, 2008 at 10:30
I play Sunday League occaisionally, would that class me as one of the 220 players that want to join Arsenal?
May 10, 2008 at 10:30
gunnershabz…
i’m sure there are a lot of them…
May 10, 2008 at 10:30
yeah if it ends up in court it will be too much hassle for them
May 10, 2008 at 10:31
the thing is…. we dont know what happens behind the scenes
wenger is very discreet when signing players
eduardo happened out of now where
sagna we knew all summer but no one else knew what kind of player he is
May 10, 2008 at 10:32
David Silva is a player we should be looking at though
joaquin would be the best replacement for Hleb
even everton showing more ambitions then us
May 10, 2008 at 10:36
Pat they’re already going to be investigated, this could get them banned from the transfer market for 2 years, so i gurantee you they don’t want the hassle of a hot potato, we’ve made enough moves for the risk for them to be too high to take….basically Inter must have expected Arsenal to just “allow it” and that we’d see them as too big to stop. Anyone who tries to touch any of our players will be taken to Fifa. Any player invoking article 17…Arsenal will keep the player out of football until the case is over….which could be 3-6 months into the transfer season. Inter are only after him because he’s “on the cheap” they wouldn’t touch him with the transfer fee we would expect for him…..or not since the boss wants to keep him at all costs, as he does the rest. The formula is simple, don’t detract from what we’ve already got, only add and we’ll have a big and good quality squad, a mix of talented youth and experienced players. Hopefully we’ll get at least 1 experienced player, someone who like Fabregas, Gallas etc. has 200+ pro games under their belt, a couple of those would certainly help our youth development out.
May 10, 2008 at 10:37
wenger threating court action is just his way of ensuring hleb leaves with a full transfer fee to arsenal . as if hleb tries to bail on a Websters arsene is threatening action ..
Im sure it means he’s leaving with no way back like his agent stated , i think all this bollocks is just to ensure wenger gets his 15- 20 million transfer fee . the debate that hleb is staying i think is obvious .. He wont .. wenger just doesn’t want 2 of his best leaving without any monetary compensation .
END of
geoff i think i needed to log into wordpress !
i think that was the problem .
May 10, 2008 at 10:38
Dont forget Philippe Mexes as a possible CB
I think we have been linked with him before (But then he is French, I think we are linked with everyone French)
May 10, 2008 at 10:39

i for one would welcome kompany 22 and already a finished article !
May 10, 2008 at 10:46
Advanced Windows care is also a great proramg, it scans and immunizes against spyware, fixes registry problems on Windows, optimizes the system, has a program to manage Windows startup items(stop stuff you don’t want from starting when you switch on Windows…),erases history and surfing traces and deletes junk files thus freeing up disk space.
Oh and it’s completely free if you want it!

Fucking hell !!! i am gonna take a wank if the Ben Arfa story is true.
May 10, 2008 at 10:47
program*
May 10, 2008 at 10:47
But it is probably a Sun Fabrication.
May 10, 2008 at 10:51
No I said Micah Richards is smaller than Kolo etc, it was probably bad grammar
That is why I said Kompany is a move in the right direction
May 10, 2008 at 10:52
No I think it’s been around for too long for it to be unture, it was like this when we signed Robin, Hleb and Rosicky.
Sorry to use those paragon’s of injuries and ice cream virtues, but it’s feels the same.
May 10, 2008 at 10:53
Something I have missed is that Abramovich has not been at the last 11 Chelsea games.
Is he losing interest in his toy or is there something on in Russia?
May 10, 2008 at 10:54
Geoff that Per Mertesacker earlier
Is he a good beast or a crap one
May 10, 2008 at 10:57
Well at least there an article on us buying Ben Arfa, Im gona take that as a positive. Nice to hear Wenger showing a bit of fire. Its our club Im someone has to stand up to these clubs/players. If they wana bring it……Come on then I really like the look of Ben Arfa, lets splash the cash sooner rather than later
May 10, 2008 at 10:57
pat something about russian politics re putin and helping his freind out i heard
May 10, 2008 at 10:58
also sagna ..
rumors all summer only to do the deal in the death knock of the transfer period ,
ben arfa is our most likely candidate ..
has the player actually came out and said anything thou ?
i cant remember reading anything on it ?
May 10, 2008 at 10:59
Yup, Kremlin boys all stick together, Usmanov, Putin, Abramovich…all the same crew.
May 10, 2008 at 10:59
He is a good beast, sorry Pat I’ve been in and out!
May 10, 2008 at 11:00
People are deluded if they think we’re signing Ben Arfa or anyone else with a large transfer fee. We won’t sign anyone.
May 10, 2008 at 11:03
Minty, have faith, 16 mil these day is not huge, we got that for an aging Henry!
May 10, 2008 at 11:03
I would LUV IT if we get Benjamin Arthur and Sammo N…
Doubt it would happen though. Don’t think we’ll get either.
May 10, 2008 at 11:04

i think we were linked with Mexes years and years ago

Angry Loser,
Wenger makes a fool of himself & the club when he makes stupid statements!! To suggest Arsenal’s entire history is clean (which he did) is laughable. My point about GG was just a more recent example, but I notice you didn’t have anything to say about our oiginal promotion.
I have no problem with Wenger slating a player for his actions or even clubs like Chelski, Inter Milan, Real Madrid or Barca for the illegal tapping up of our players, but why attack AC Milan, what have they done wrong??
Sorry but anyone accepting his idea that we are a bigger club than Milan is quite frankly an idiot!!
May 10, 2008 at 11:16
Sorry I mean Angry Loner not Loser!! That’ll teach me to read properly!!
May 10, 2008 at 11:20
Blimey GMR that was a long time ago, he’s a strange one, I’ve got him on probation, there’s been a few that haven’t made it out of the bin.
Ethan, you’re still having problems and I can’t work it out, Pedro’s at work today but will have a good look tonight, bare with me mate!
May 10, 2008 at 11:22
Why is noone mentioning Pandev. Wenger was asked some time ago and he said ‘ I know the player etc’. He could be the replacement for Hleb or Rosicky.
May 10, 2008 at 11:22
What does people think of Marquez? I rate him highly & hes a bit of a no messing around centre back. Not the greatest in the air though
May 10, 2008 at 11:23
If anyone thinks Arsenal’s history is innocent, they should read this book
http://www.arsenal-world.co.uk/news/loadfeat.asp?cid=EDZ3&id=184630
I have just finished it is a a good read. Some of the things we got away with in the early years is incredible
May 10, 2008 at 11:24
Sorry Book title is Rebels for the Cause: The Alternative History of Arsenal Football Club
May 10, 2008 at 11:25
Geoff, yeah my boy is ill & I’ve just got back online & seen his comment!! I wouldn’t have bothered responding but I see he has posted a couple of other normal comments since so assume he’s still reading!!
May 10, 2008 at 11:26
He’s being watched though! I hope your son gets better, I’ve been there.
May 10, 2008 at 11:28
patthegooner, thats exactly my point!!
I want Wenger to take a stand like everyone else, but considering the amount of times he’s had to do just that why now attack a team that hasn’t done anything wrong to us??
The Flamini situation was down to Wenger, the board & Flamini himself. He didn’t think it was morally wrong when Campbell done the exact same thing to Spuds!!
Anyway I’m more interested in the Ben Arfa news myself. I really hope its true as an early signing would give everyone a lift, especially a sort after player!!
May 10, 2008 at 11:29
Thanks Geoff.
May 10, 2008 at 11:29
What about Steven Taylor at Newcastle
Only a year left on his contract, but negotiations have stalled
May 10, 2008 at 11:31
I like him but I’m not sure he’s the finished article yet, I think he’s a southerner though.
May 10, 2008 at 11:32
Football is about winning. Why is Real Madrid,Pool and Manchester United the most popular teams in the world.Simple, they win titles and have done for many years. We havnt even won the European cup even though we have tried for 12 seasons now under Wenger that is piss poor by any standard.
May 10, 2008 at 11:38
I think he was born in London, but I am sure he has a Geordie Accent
Maybe not quite finished but then neither is Micah who many want, I think given his contract situation, the fact we could offer him CL football and put him more in the England limelight could sway him into joining us
At least we are speculating on optimism today instead of the bleak media coverage of the last few days
May 10, 2008 at 11:40
what do you think about granys suggestion of a play off rather than goal difference when both teams finsih with teh same points?
May 10, 2008 at 11:42
I like Steven Taylor as well. Considering he’s playing in one of the worst defences in the league he’s the only one that keeps it together in some part, plus he can play as a CB or RB.
May 10, 2008 at 11:44
AG has only suggested that because he knows Man Utd will win the league. He wouldn’t be saying it if Chelski’s goal difference was better than Man Utd’s.
I like it the way it is because as this season has proved goal difference can be vital which encourages attacking play instead of the negative rubbish chelski have played nearly the whole season!!
May 10, 2008 at 11:45
Good article as always but I think before we all get carried away about who’s coming or not I think we should look at Arsene’s recent history about the type of player he has signed recently and it should give an indication if a rumour has any substance.
From the ones of the top of my head they fall into two catagories.
1) Young, plenty of potential, usually Western European or South American and not yet established in the international set-up. ie Fabregas, Vela, Denilson, Diaby, Walcott. Clichy, Traore etc etc.
2)Aged 21-25, from an Eastern European or African Background or league(s), considerably cheaper in wages or fees than anything he might purchase from La Liga or the Premiership and not to high on transfer fees. ie Rosicky, Hleb, Adebayor, Fabianski, Eduardo(originally being Brazilian but plays for Croatia) and Sagna( French of Senegalise origin).
Although they may be exceptions, this seems to be the general rule. Therefore rumours concerning Ben Arfa could well be true but someone like Villa you can definately rule out. He very rarely will spend over £10mil on a player or above £20mil and will certainly hasn’t brought in a “big name” since Overmars who as far as I’m concerned was his only big name transfer. Even Henry and Pires were considerably cheaper and had not lived up to previous expectations.
Bearing all this in mind, the profile of a typical Wenger signing this summer is likely to fall into the above two types. So out of the so called 220 names you can probably rule out 200 immediately and out of the remaining 20 only 5 are Wenger types of which he will pick the 2 or 3 the team requires who fall into the creative midfielder/strong defender characters unless more players leave of course.
May 10, 2008 at 11:47
thats true GMR, i refuse to watch chelsea as it holds no entertainment value to me what so ever, the soaps would hold my attention better,
i assume everybody will be watching the arsenal match today via their PC’s?
May 10, 2008 at 11:49
pat i think your barking up the wrong tree wenger wouldn’t pool from the EPL
richards – taylor .. Nar, he will look to Europe , your keyboard mileage should focus on abroad !
May 10, 2008 at 11:53
not sure whats going on geoff ,

May 10, 2008 at 12:01
Very good analysis pablo, that gives us an insight into the logic bearing in mind the facts and the situation as it is.
One point I’d like to make about English players. They keep on playing in the Championship….and that is usually not the best route to get into Premier league football. If some of them went to other leagues, not necessarily the big ones like Spain, Italy or Germany. Instead of playing in a second tier league they could play with a first tier club and become title winners in that country, that would give them a chance to become Premier League players…then there would be much more of them. Who wouldn’t buy a British player who has won the title in Sweden or Holland or Belgium, or anywhere else in Eruope.
Even the Czech league, a lot of them could do with being trained at good clubs like Sparta Prague or Slavia Prague. But instead they choose to play for clubs like Norwich or Preston, perennial underachievers. To be a winner you need to come from a winning club. But maybe those players would have been bought out of the Championship by top teams…..but they haven’t and why? Because it[’s much easier to train a Championship standard of player, the Championship is BELOW most of Europe’s top leagues and for much less they can train their own ABOVE Championship standard, so it may be a case of both not good enough and too expensive.
There are teams in the UEFA cup which are much better than some of those in the Premier League (Middlesbrough, Newcastle Reading, Bolton, Blackburn) so joining a good club is important to become a top player.

Give me that link again please Chris.
May 10, 2008 at 12:05
Just a slow news day Ethan and I am waiting for the Palace game

May 10, 2008 at 12:23
pablo
spot on the money ..
i would steer away from the african nations ..
it seems to kill us at ANC time ..
they need to run there competition at a similar time to the euro’s
it only makes sense !
i do feel ben arfa is arsenes only real statement of intent.
lets hope no one else bids on him ..

May 10, 2008 at 12:45
What position does Arfa play?
May 10, 2008 at 12:53
sunday 15:00, me stupid
May 10, 2008 at 13:20
no chance of any of these players, wenger has been bangin on for 2 or 3 seasons about 2 or 3 ‘top quality signings’, well where are they, pundits say the players arnt there, they are but you have to pay for them, thats not our style we like to rummage thru the bargain basement. where do manu, chelski n liverpool get ther players……. they spend money on them.
Get the cheque book out n spend some money on good players ……. for once!!!!!!!!!!!
May 10, 2008 at 13:20
A Goal keeper please please please. We need a fucking goalkeeper.
May 10, 2008 at 13:24
Gomes
Sagna, Alex, Gallas, Clichy
Fabulous, Sicky/RVP, Diaby, Ben Arfa
Ettooeeee, Bendnter
Theo, Fab 2, Song, Denny, Toure
May 10, 2008 at 13:31
Really pissed off now. Where are these great players Chavs, Mancscum and Pool buy. Torres yes but he wasn’t great before, Anderson was he great then?, Malouda another superstar. The only real superstars these cunts have signed are Shevva, Veron, The Argy forward who’s name escapes me. and they all flopped. Drogshit, The Winker, Vidic etc were not global stars, so what is the difference between them and us really. Are they bargain basement or were they overpriced? Please don’t mention Hargreaves, Carrick, Naan bread as they are average to good.
May 10, 2008 at 13:31
I’m not sure I would swap Eto’o for Ade, I don’t think Eto’o has looked good this season and Barca can fuck off for all the tapping up shit they’ve done.
May 10, 2008 at 13:35
The only difference between the top 2 not Pool as they are not better than us is the players they pay fortunes for to sit on their arses. I personally don’t want to see this happen at the Arsenal. 16 Good to great players yes but 30 is just not feasible. Look at the other teams fringe players who want out, there are more of these than want to leave us. Trouble is they will take huge wage drops to leave the comfort they enjoy.
May 10, 2008 at 13:37
Geoff I am not sure about Eto’o either but apparently him and AW are mates, he is a big name player and AW could resurrect his career as he did with others. He is as good if not better than Anelka and a lot of guys wanted him at the Arsenal. Like you though mate I am not sure. I like the look of the Hunter.
May 10, 2008 at 13:41
ARSENAL 2010
Fab 2
Sagna, Nordveilt, Djouroue, Clichy,
Fab 1 Vela, Barazite, Willshere Merida
Theo Bendtner
May 10, 2008 at 13:46
Best ever.
Lehman
Sagna, TA, O’Leary, Winterburn
Fab 1, PV4, Chippy Brady, Pires
TH14, DB10
Seaman, Wrighty, Overmars, Sansom, Keown,Raddy, Geordie, Charlie G, Alex James (one for Grandad god bless him) Rice,
Try beating that team
May 10, 2008 at 13:46
I would not swap Etoo for Ade, but If it was possible, I would buy either Benzema or Etoo to partner Ade
I do expect Barca to come in for him though, but I reckon it will be cash only or a swap with players we dont want. Apparently he is top of Pep’s wishlist.
What value would you put on Ade’s head? (Honestly Ethan)
I would not want to lose him, I really think he will be the finished article in a seasons time, but if an offer came at a silly amount like 25m then I think Arsenal would take it.
May 10, 2008 at 13:49
El Tel
Are we playing 12 a side in 2010
May 10, 2008 at 13:51
for a keeper ive heard theres a guy Rami Shaaban we could take a look at???
May 10, 2008 at 14:23
Angry Loner
Now that would work well, Hleb for Etoo and bring in Ben Arfa.
Ben arfa, Rosicky, Theo, Vela, Gibbs, Randall, Lansbury as our winger options.
I would be happy with that
May 10, 2008 at 14:35
Lansbury, Gibbs, Randall, Vela, and even theo who can’t play well when hes starts game against good teams. haven’t proved they can be relied upon at all. Gibbs and randall couldn’t even starts games for Norwich and Burnley.
Rosicky is always injured. So that just leaves us Ben Arfa.
I hope Wenger wouldn’t be stupid enough to put us in that situation next season.
May 10, 2008 at 14:37
Am I the only one that wishes the story about Ade was true so we could get rid of him??? He may have scored 30 goals this season but his first touch is pathetic … kids in a sunday park game control the ball better than him ……. In some of our crucial games this season in the premiership and european games his abysmal first touch was a pass that started the oppositions attacks. Our defenders and midfield can’t keep clearing the ball from danger only to see it come straight back because our main striker has no first touch control. Yes 30 goals but how much pressure on our defence (and how many goals) came from a move that started with his pass to the opposition. He’s a liability and should go … And if any mug team thinks he’s worth £25m+ (Angry Loner) then we should be biting their hands off to get that for such an ordinary player.
May 10, 2008 at 14:44
Nasri > Ben Arfa
May 10, 2008 at 14:45
Paulinho
I think you may be thinking he is stupid then as I can honestly see Ben Arfa, Rosicky, Theo and Vela being our main width choices next season. If Rosicky could stay fit I would be happy with those four
I also heard that some of our kids are being promoted to the 1st team squad and I would imagine that they would include Gibbs and Randall and maybe even Wilshire. I was talking all competitions and I expect those youth additions will be our CC and maybe FA Cup starters.
May 10, 2008 at 14:50
I love how you call for loyalty from players, yet soon as a trash paper writes something negative about them you attack our players and demand that they respond to trash. I am a cock sucker and take it up the arse.
May 10, 2008 at 14:54
Barnsy;
I think you also been up my arse you faggot.
May 10, 2008 at 14:57
http://youtube.com/watch?v=vm77WGFcqPQ&feature=related
Adebayor’s hat-trick against Derby, 3 unstoppable goals, lightning quick Adebayor action!
First game of next season tomorrow, bring on the youth and lets beat Sunderland!
May 10, 2008 at 14:57
Wilshere is a great talent. Randall and Gibbs? I just don’t see it. Look rank average to me. Bentley seemed on a much higher level and he wasn’t deemed good enough.
Unless these players are really outstanding talents like Wilshere I don’t see the point of them. Because they end up taking up important squad positions and we end up just selling them to some championship side when it becomes apparent they won’t cut it.
We’ve had enough of youth routine, time to wake up and have some proven class in our ranks.
May 10, 2008 at 14:58
pat
15 million .. like you said work in progress .. and if he’s wanted this year 15 upto 20 if bidding is fierce ..
Listen im not saying he wont be a drogba of the future .. but we will have to persist
)
for an unquantified amount of time before he is the finished article(ade) .. Can arsenal as a club afford another year or 2’s down time .. I say get Eto – get villa ! This club demands a big name . It needs a real commanding player to kill games off …
will the midfield be the same next season?? Huge question marks there ?!
will we get the same service ?? Who fuckin knows? ! (not even arsene knows
El Tel
bends is a plan B .. not a starter , not for at least 2 or 3 years ..
id like to see ETO next too either dudu or RVP / Theo
But im afraid theo will have to settle for right wing another season due to this EXODUS of the midfield .
Dont expect much from vela his last game was pretty average ..
he is like theo last year .. Still potential is there !
lets hope he makes the transition too the EPL , as i heard he likes spain !
May 10, 2008 at 15:00
Pat, sory mat I never could count. Would be good to sneak an extra 1 in though
I knew the Ade knockers would return. His first touch and offsides are a joke aren’t they. So when TH14 was playing alone up fron it was great was it.Hands on hips scared to get a kicking and as for heading the ball well that was fun. I am not knocking the great TH14 but ton say Ade doesn’t hold the ball up is laughable. How come top defenders rate him so highly then. He moves defenders all across the line, he defends from the front and he scores goals, lots of goals. I don’t buy the I could score goals in this team nonsense as that is just not true. Ade isn’t the great TH14 but he is what we were looking for when TH14 was here. Oh by the way he scores in big games too.
May 10, 2008 at 15:08
OK Barnsy and Angry loner are AKB’s that seem to be chatting each other up on the site so I’m throwing them off, sorry Grovers but it is Saturday and school is off, they won’t be allowed back on. Wankers.
May 10, 2008 at 15:09
Am I the only one that wishes the story about Ade was true so we could get rid of him???
no mark !
your not .. ill also say our keeper needs to distribute better ,as i agree with your clearance statement . alumina has likened recently to kick it out into touch or go long for ade !
id rather see the ball go to the defenders and retain possession ..
A lot of people are blinded by his goal tally .. but its the same old story .. if you walk into a restaurant with 1 chef cooking , you had better like his food !
the goal tally was a direct result from him being the only cook in the kitchen !
30 goals in over 50 games ? with about 5-6+ chances a game ..
NOT GOOD ENOUGH !
but the reality is a lot of people have lowered there standards since TH 14 departure !
a lot are starting to actually believe our club wont succeed ! due to money restrictions. Considering we play a passing game full of tricky passing and movement
its very clear he is out of his depth !
why others cant see it , is beyond me ..
he’s not arsenal class and possibly will never be !
plus his agent is a cunt
May 10, 2008 at 15:10
Ethan
I haven’t seen Vela play mate but he is getting rave reviews from everywhere. I only watch the Arsenal these days as the cheating has done me in. Gave up on Sky who are really Manc TV so I get info from you guys and the net. RVP could be better than the winker if only he wasn’t so brittle. I would like to see the purse on the wing as he plays there for Holland and he looks awesome.
May 10, 2008 at 15:11
El Tel … the Ade knockers don’t return because we never go away … we see him for what he really is … an average player … a striker in the Dion Dublin league …. how you can even mention him in comparison to Henry is laughable …. …
May 10, 2008 at 15:12
OK Ade must be shit then cos his agents a cunt.
May 10, 2008 at 15:15
His agent is indeed a cunt, that Ethan we must all agree on!
May 10, 2008 at 15:17
Hey Angry, fuck off to Arsenal.com, no one was talking to you anyway.
May 10, 2008 at 15:18
He is totally different to TH14 so there is no comparison. What I was trying to say is Ade played up front alone (the only chef) and he never let us down. TH14 couldn’t play up alone as he just dropped deeper and deeper. TH14 wasn’t in some games either. TH14 had DB10 and Bobby to take some weight. Ade was alone or with the prolific Hleb. I never said Ade is the dogs nuts but he aint shit. Dion Dublin and Ade. Ok I give up.
May 10, 2008 at 15:18
Ade’s strengths’s are Arsenal’s weaknessed and Arsenal’s strengths are Ade’s weaknesses.
They guy is plan b and nothing more….at this stage.
He scores alot of goals, but he does collateral damage to our team dynamic. Hleb and Cesc are disillusioned with his lack of generalship. Passing to him is like playing squash. The ball comes back with unwanted interest.
We need a Berbatov, a lubricant to spearhead our attack. Someone who can play Wengerball.
May 10, 2008 at 15:19
Geoff well done mate get rid of the imposters. They probably don’t even support our Great Club.
May 10, 2008 at 15:20
MY CLOSE FRIEND FROM FRANCE KNOWS BEN AFRA!
HE PHONED ME LAST NIGHT AND SAID BEN WAS CONSIDERING AN ARSENAL CONTRACT.
!!!NOW HE HAS ACCEPTED!!!
AND TO ANSWER YOU QUESTIONS MY FRIEND IS VERY CLOSE, WERE A GAY COPLE!
May 10, 2008 at 15:22
They are probably too young to El Tel, they get parental controls lifted at the weekend which is why they’re on.
One last message for you, you little twat, if you had any real conviction or guts you would have used your real email address, not a made up one, now fuck off you’re not welcome here.
May 10, 2008 at 15:23
Pauly I am not saying you are wrong but we haven’t got Berbatov or any other Tov. Maybe if the Purse stayed fit we wouldn’t be having a go at Ade. I don’t think he is as bad as some want him to be. Spuds away was a great strike so too was Bar codes away. I think Theo would have been better around the box but AW wants him to play on the wing. Then again AW wants Eboooooe on the wing too.
May 10, 2008 at 15:23
Phobia there’s nothing wrong with being gay, unless of course if affects his game!
May 10, 2008 at 15:25
Geoff stop the Mancspur cunts now. They are winding you up man. Or let them on and have fun with them. Phobia, Ooh Ahh Ben Arfa
May 10, 2008 at 15:26
Sorry about this guys but Ben Arfa is a nailed on cert if he loves it up the Arse.
May 10, 2008 at 15:31
There’s no way Ben Arfa is a nancy boy, that’s a romour started up by Phobia and his wicked sense of humour!
El Tel, you’re right, it’s out of my system now just like those jerks, not bad though 7,000 hits for a Saturday and just 4 spuds on, I suppose it put a link on their site because I mentioned Jenas in the story, my own fault.
May 10, 2008 at 15:32
gotta agree TH14 is a 1 in a billion ..
shame arsene wont have him back ..
he knows and loves our club .. he would be a good role model also !
get some much needed team spirit back into these lads !
el tel vela was quiet on the wing in his last game .. good pace thou !
he’s a mexican theo ! Ole ..
geoff what a bunch of queers !thats very gay !!, haven’t been following there banter but if the last 2 entries are anything to go by … im glad i didnt
one was definitely the giver and ‘Barnsy’ was definitely the taker !
Barnsy
we demand loyalty from all players and if your going to talk about the author just
commenting on the NEWS go read the gay weekly magazine instead !, in fact blame me you gay ass fags because i found the news article from the daily mail !
blame me you big gay girls blouse nancy boy fags
was that over the top ?
May 10, 2008 at 15:33
I’m watching the Bremen game but Mertesacker hasn’t had much to do so far
May 10, 2008 at 15:35
I think that was eloquently put , well said and very true, thanks Ethan!
May 10, 2008 at 15:36
Ethangunner …Paulinho … you’ve both said the same thing in different ways but both spot on as to why Ade should not be in this team. He is not an outlet for our passing game and that won’t change because he’s not that type of player and that leads to the talented passing players getting pissed off seeing all their work turn into attacks for the other side because of him…… How others can’t see this is a mystery … perhaps it is as you said ethangunner that people have lowered their standards.
El Tel …… Henry may have had Bergkamp. Pires and the rest take some weight but a lot of their assists also came from his brilliant play and ball skills …… something Ade could only dream of. The Henry you talk about with hands on hips and scared to get a kicking was an Henry that was past his best in the last few seasons with us ….. we had already had the best out of him …time after time after time ….. Ade will never come close, does not suit our game and should go.
May 10, 2008 at 15:36
What channel is that on Trinidad?
May 10, 2008 at 15:45
Cant find on UK TV Geoff, where are you watching it Trinidad
Hey we havent even been linked with the guy, but following the Eduardo and Sagna scoop last Summer, i am looking further for potential recruits
The Germans speak very highly of him though
May 10, 2008 at 15:48
May 10, 2008 at 15:48
man..i like your blog..u r so sarcastic…and the flamini in the last supper..hilarious..my god..u should do comedy….well nasri will probably go to barca being that his dad who is his agent love barcalona
May 10, 2008 at 15:50
He he he…………he he
I just had a look at the bbc gossip column, we’ve been linked with more players coming in than we had all year, am i dreaming??
Ben arfa, Nasri , Kompany and more , all players we’ve been discussing on this site!
Geoff… maybe Wenger does really read the blog after all.
May 10, 2008 at 15:52
Adebayor never denied he wants more money. He should be sold to whoever bids the most. I can’t understand why anyone thinks Adebayor is any good. Of course he is going to be our top goalscorer he’s the only striker playing and instead of shooting the midfielders just pass to him so theres no wonder he always has so many goalscoring opportunities which most he messes up.
May 10, 2008 at 15:53
I don’t want to knock the great man but he always played like this with hands on hips. It was his style. Just when the defender thought he had him TH14 done the busines. Th14 did also dissapear in some games very bid games too. But I don’t want to knock the legend because you hate Ade.
May 10, 2008 at 15:54
Geoff, its on GolTV
May 10, 2008 at 15:54
Abdenor does it mention a keeper and the Hunter?
May 10, 2008 at 15:55
GolTV is where I get Spanish and German games
May 10, 2008 at 15:56
Here is a write up on him
Mertesacker already indispensable
At just 23, Per Mertesacker already has the air of a veteran about him, whether with Werder Bremen or the German national team. His impressive physique (1.96m and 85kg) is often enough to deter opponents, with the result that he rarely needs to foul (6 yellow cards in 116 Bundesliga matches). And logically enough, Mertesacker is also extremely formidable in the air.
May 10, 2008 at 16:01
El Tel
The Hunter is linked with Man ure but you know what is like with the media, i’ll be us tomorow & maybe someone else next!
May 10, 2008 at 16:06
Abdenor, I think he does! Trini, we don’t get that channel, you’ll have to let us know what he’s like.
May 10, 2008 at 16:09
He looks quality, almost scored on a set play too. But to be honest, Bremen is leading 5-0, so their defence isn’t really under pressure in this game.
Diego missed a penalty a few mins ago.
May 10, 2008 at 16:10
I don’t know why guys but i’ve got a strong feeling we’ll end up breaking our own transfer record this summer on more than one ocasion!
I am expecting big signings, enough of the dog’s dinner, It’s cruch time & AW had just realised we been left behind in last couple of years.
May 10, 2008 at 16:18
…… or am i deluding my self??
May 10, 2008 at 16:24
I have that same feeling Napoleon!
No really I’ve said for months I think he’ll pull a Kaka out of the bag, I don’t mean Kaka, but someone, I personally would have Goofy, or Arfa, Nasri, Benzema, Kompany and Gareth Barry, or two from that lot!
May 10, 2008 at 16:26
Rocicky has ruled himself out of the Euros, “I am in the lowest point of my career,” he said. “I missed the big part of season at Arsenal and I reached the European Championship for nothing.”
Lets hope he stays injury free next season, i am sure we’d still be involved Tomorow for the league had he been fit last few months.
We missed him badly!
May 10, 2008 at 16:34
what is it arsenal fag day ?
i aint got anything against them i just dont bend that way ..
but ive gotta say,
what is it with all this gay business today ?
hey ?
shit all that just ryimed !!
May 10, 2008 at 16:48
yes rosicky ..
Is a great player .. it would be good for some of these lads to bulk up a bit ..
make them strong enough to withstand injuries .. and although it might slow them down a bit .. our passing game is 2nd to none .. it will make little difference .. only difference is we wont be as injury prone !
lets hope RVP and rosicky stay out of the medical center , as they were missed definitely this season ! and dudu
May 10, 2008 at 16:59
Abdenor. Your right pal Sicky was missed badly. We would have won it weeks ago if he stayed fit, his movement, passing and the odd goal is as close as Booby we could get. He also linked well with the other 3, we could have called them the fab 4.
May 10, 2008 at 17:01
Geoff dont ask me why but i can see Gerrard arriving. He says good things about us and I don’t think he is happy with the wheel trim bandits.
May 10, 2008 at 17:02
Ethan, we’re getting in touch with wordpress regarding your problem, not the Gay one, I’m with you on that! the blog one.
May 10, 2008 at 17:02
The Hunter has been linked with the Mancscum for ages now and that would be a great reason to take him. Tell them inbred wankers we got their man.
May 10, 2008 at 17:11
hey stupid did you get on to have a go at lieutenant lofty AKB last night on T.V.
i said For cunt spell hleb yesterday ,you can also use, JENAS as well AND insert the word THICK in front of it
Better day in the tabloid trashers ,
BEING LINKED HEAVILY TO
kompany
Ben Arfa
SAMI NASIR
would like a link to a keeper as well
Thats cause i’m a greedy Bastard though .
May 10, 2008 at 17:18
I wish we could get a goalkeeper.
May 10, 2008 at 17:20
AW said 220 players contacted him and want to play for ARSENAL. Lets hope 200 were Keepers. Half of them are better than what we have.
May 10, 2008 at 17:23
This site receives many responses not because its very informative but because most of the bloggers(yes, including you both Pedro and Geoff) here have one core charasteristic: They indulge in fantasy and unrealistic ideas. Very few bloggers really contribute here as they seems to prefer the media to do the thinking for them.
For the last few days, this blog was running what’s virtualy an anti-Wenger campaign, basically accusing him of losing the plot. You blamed him for Flamini’s departure. But Flamini’s departure was down to money, are you guys sure that Wenger realy has much of a say in financial matters? Wasn’t this blame supposed to be directed at the board and shareholders?
Not personal, just telling like it is.
May 10, 2008 at 17:37
so you’re blaming Ade for you not reading Arsenal.com after reading the dail mail article? that article was published in Friday’s paper and a response from Ade was on arsenal.com by Friday afternoon. When I saw your article on newsnow it was fairly close to Ade’s denial article on arsenal.com, so I wondered why you even published it.
May 10, 2008 at 17:38
If Hleb was to go I would love to see him replaced with Nasri, we should get Ben Arfa aswell as we need a wide player and would like to see Kompan and Kolo together at the back.
May 10, 2008 at 17:39
Sorry meant Kompany
May 10, 2008 at 17:59
Wise Gunner, I saw your second post, but I’m letting this one on as it’s not nasty, if your next one is nasty it will be your last, however if they’re like this one you are welcome.
Wengers job was to keep Flamini or sell him and make money, he did neither, who would you like us to blame.
He gets paid £6 million a year to make decisions, the Flamini one was a no brainer. Read our posts in November and December when we were urging him to sign Flamini or sell him and keep Diarra.
We’re not anti Wenger we all love him here but he’s not above criticism.
May 10, 2008 at 18:04
Also Wise Gunner I did notice your email name is death2propaganda@gmail.com that kind of says you’re after trouble, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, It’s my job to protect the integrity of this site and my fellow Grovers, I don’t want to spend it arguing with AKB’s.
If on the other hand to want to join in you’re welcome.
May 10, 2008 at 18:05
Wise Gunner
This site receives many responces coz it’s the best around, a view shared by everyone on here.
May 10, 2008 at 18:11
Ok Simmo, you’re another that I’ve allowed on if only to answer your question, if you read Pedro’s post you’d see it was posted around 9am, Ade’s denial was late afternoon, almost a working day after the post was posted, I don’t understand your question???
Today however we retracted and apologised, what more would you have us do.
And before you question me believing what I read, Wenger gives regular press conferences as that’s how we tend to communicate these days.
If you have anything constructive to say, or even witty, we’re all ears, if not go and read arsenal.com you’ll find all the facts you’ll ever need there.
May 10, 2008 at 18:15
Well said Abdenor! we have had some pricks on today, it seems to be a weekend thing, that’s how I know they don’t go to the games as most of the fuckers come on when we’re at the games.
That’s 5 today, I know some of them are spuds because of the Jenas comment, some of them are other blog sites and some of them are kids.
All of them are morons though, that’s for sure.
May 10, 2008 at 18:19
For simmo and wise gunner if you have read this site for a while you would see that the majority of people that contribute ,are fans of many years that have actually stood on the north bank and clock end and also know a thing or two about football prior to SKY T.V. AND THE PREMIER LEAGUE.
WHY DONT YOU JOIN THE OTHER AKB’S ON ARSENAL.COM
May 10, 2008 at 18:23
Wise Gunner
This site is not just about the latest news. We have an opinion and The lads block imposters. There’s nothing wrong with fantasy either. Oh how fucking boring it would be if we didn’t have ideas and dreams. We can’t think for ourselves you say so why should we listen to your drivel. Block Geoff let the boring fucker go elsewhere.
May 10, 2008 at 18:28
Simaon you legend. That was what the clever fucker needs. We are Gooners. We do love AW but he has made mistakes and needs to be told. Geoff you are right again pal. Arsenal.com is for the believers, more lies told from within over the years fed to us by Arsenal.com.
May 10, 2008 at 18:31
Were the North Bank were the North Bank were the North Bank Highbury. Sorry the sun has gone to my head.
May 10, 2008 at 18:40
I’m with you both, I guess dealing with the odd AKB makes us realise how much fun we all have debating the why’s and the wherefore’s.
I reckon after tomorrow Wenger will start buying, well at least I hope so.
May 10, 2008 at 18:50
El Tel put one of the twelve into the other team as its only got ten.
May 10, 2008 at 18:50
Wenger is expecting to buy the players he wants in the next two to three weeks!!
I look forward to seeing who they are!!
May 10, 2008 at 18:52
Yes me too, shall we get excited or not as was it the Daily Mail again!
May 10, 2008 at 18:52
Who is Carlos Marchena?? I know he plays for Valencia but have no idea about him.
May 10, 2008 at 18:54
Yeah it was the daily mail, but it was an interview with Wenger so you have to assume its true. The fact he talks about all the negative stuff around the club seems very likely it was him talking.
May 10, 2008 at 18:58
I’ve just read up on him, he’s a defender but as he’s 28 & only 6′ tall I don’t really see how that improves the central defence. It adds experience but not height which is where we suffered with direct balls (according to Wenger anyway). Surely we need a minimum of a 6′3″ hulk like player.
May 10, 2008 at 18:59
Calos Marchena cetre half from Valencia (Is he any good?) according to the mail.
and they say Hleb has 14 days from tomorrow to hand his notice in if he wants to use the Websters law clause.
It’s warming up now.
May 10, 2008 at 19:01
Wish I could type quicker!
May 10, 2008 at 19:12
Marchena is a decent central defender but he has been used more recently as a defensive midfielder for Valencia.
His career seems to have slightly stalled but he is, or was, a regular for Spain.
I would prefer somone a bit better to be honest.
May 10, 2008 at 19:15
Could it be another AW smokescreen, he was probably seen talking to Valencia and was asked a question. I am dreaming as usual.
May 10, 2008 at 19:17
Maybe Valencia want our great Spanish goalie. Fucking hell I am in fantasy land.
May 10, 2008 at 19:22
Sorry El Tel i think we are GOING TO BE STUCK WITH COCO as no 1 next year, i wish AW could get it right when it comes to keepers , Although the mad german was awesome , and was an integral part of the 2004 invincibles.
May 10, 2008 at 19:22
Comments like this get the old excitement factor going:
“I know what I want and I am very confident,” he said.
“I hope to turn that around in the next two or three weeks. They (fans) should be re-assured by what they see.”
Wenger’s main signing last summer was Croatia forward Eduardo da Silva, who later suffered an horrific broken leg at Birmingham, and the Frenchman indicated he may look closer to home this time around.
“It would be better to buy someone who has played in England because they are less risky, but it costs more money if they are from the Premier League,” Wenger said.
“Maybe I will try to do both.”
May 10, 2008 at 19:28
If he’s after a player from here I reckon it’ll be Barry or more likely Kranjcar as Bilic seems to know who Wenger’s targets are (well at least one of them).
May 10, 2008 at 19:30
Maybe it is Villa from Valencia and not the other guy he is talking to. Cheers Simon at least i am not alone in thinking Coco is our weakness, and it was sad to see mad Jens the legend last week leaving the Stadium with a tear in his eye. He loved us and our club and he was right to moan about the other guy. Keep Jens on as Goalie coach and dump Gerry fucking Peyton. Anyway AW is looking at Prem players it would seem. Probably Krankie or whatever his name is but how about Gerrard or Barry. Buy Barry and swap him for Gerrard as we did with Sansom and that Spud top scorer wanker years ago.
May 10, 2008 at 19:34
Will AW take a look at some Blackburn players? and he will have to sign a keeper no matter what. He must know that them 2 will not win a trophy for us next season. He might sign an experienced 3rd keeper and with luck Coco drops a plate on his toe while serving at the Tapas bar and our 2nd/3rd choice gets in.
May 10, 2008 at 20:01
I trust the interview but I think the Calos Marchena bit is speculation and just the Daily Mail throwing a name in the hat. I dont think it was an interview with the Daily Mail either, I doubt Wenger would give them a pot to piss in
Dont really know a lot about him but seems too small to me
We need a bean pole
May 10, 2008 at 20:02
Maybe Per Mertesacker Pat?
May 10, 2008 at 20:08
No I don’t think it was an exclusive with the Mail. Some of the other papers have exactly the same interview but seem to have included more with it. Maybe it was a press conference or an interview he’s done with a French paper or mag.
May 10, 2008 at 20:09
Or Lucio or Kompany as mentioned earlier
May 10, 2008 at 20:16
I think Lucio is a bit old, I think Kompany is a good player just very similar to Toure and Gallas but taller
May 10, 2008 at 20:18
How’s Kompany actually doing now??
I know he went through a really bad phase a couple of years back & thats why he was allowed to leave Anderlecht quite cheaply in the end.
He’s only played something like 20 games since June 2006, so I’m not sure he’d be the answer especially with the amount of injuries our players suffer.
May 10, 2008 at 20:30
Per Mertesacker it is then
been reading some reviews on him today, he does look good.
May 10, 2008 at 20:38
He is good, he could be like our Vidic just classier and more confident on the ball
May 10, 2008 at 20:45
Who’s place would he take and how old is he?
May 10, 2008 at 20:47
Interesting..

Wenger keen to make quick signings
May 10 2008
Arsene Wenger is very confident of bringing his top summer transfer targets to Emirates Stadium and hopes the Arsenal fans will be “reassured” the future is bright.
Arsenal have been linked with Portsmouth’s Croatian winger Niko Kranjcar and Lyon’s Hatem Ben Arfa, both valued around £12million, as well as Cameroon midfielder Jean Makoun – currently at Lille – while Valencia forward David Villa has talked of his admiration for the Gunners.
“I know what I want and I am very confident,” said Wenger.
He added: “I hope to turn that around in the next two or three weeks.
Wenger, however, maintains his squad does not need major surgery and the foundations are in place to mount another sustained title challenge come kick-off in August.
“It doesn’t look like we have no team and we have to build a team,” he said.
“We were unbeaten at home and that is only the second time in the history of the club. We have done that with young players who will be better next season.”
May 10, 2008 at 20:49
He is 23, he is 6 foot 6 and 85kg. He should take Gallas’ place.
May 10, 2008 at 20:59
So Meanlean, he says we should be reassuured eh! Sounnds good, sounds like we’re after Barry or Kranjcar then, or maybe it will be Nolan???
May 10, 2008 at 21:00
Hopefully its Niko
May 10, 2008 at 21:07
What about take Toure’s place and move Toure to CM to replace Flamini
May 10, 2008 at 21:09
Truth is there isn’t that many recognisable CB’s about, of all the players the Gooners choose there is not many for this position.
May 10, 2008 at 21:11
Pat it has to be Toure to move we have won jack shit with him at CB. CM would be better for him. Gallas is a better CB not by mmuch but Gallas has won things playing there.
May 10, 2008 at 21:12
Toure has a lot of heart and great energy but I dont think he has the composure or passing ability to play CM, he could be like a headless chicken if thrown in there. He is an excellent CB.Maybe Diaby will play CM next season Arsene talked about this on Arsenal.com a few days ago.
May 10, 2008 at 21:15
Toure played CB for the unbeaten season, Gallas has never done that
May 10, 2008 at 21:16
has everyone forgot about Eduardo because once he is back we wnt need to buy a striker right?
May 10, 2008 at 21:17
Yeah I’m pretty sure Wenger is going to do away withToure. It seems he doesn’t really have a lot of faith in his defending anymore, with good reason to be honest. Toure is an honest player but his main asset was always his pace which for whatever reason has begun to fade.
The unfortunate thing for Toure is that he would have been played at right back but he has no chance of getting that place off Sagna now.
He’ll probably become a squad player again filling in on several positions when we have injuries!!
May 10, 2008 at 21:17
I agree with RVP he isn’t good enough to play alongside Cesc, he could take Gilbertos place but if anyone should play there it should be Diaby.
Or Barry, Kranjcar or Nasri.
That’ll keep us guessing eh?
May 10, 2008 at 21:20
Can’t see that GMR, he loves Kolo more than he dooes Eboue, and I think he’ll be captain next season.
I would give it to Cesc, and Yaya may join us and that wouldn’t work without Kolo.
Interesting times.
May 10, 2008 at 21:20
Didn’t Keown and Sol play there in Invincibles side. If I am wrong I take it back.
May 10, 2008 at 21:23
I still think Kolo and I think the guy is fantastic isn’t good enough at CB, he gets dragged about to much. Headless chicken there too.
May 10, 2008 at 21:28
That Druggie taking cunt at Chavski has no pace but he holds his position well like TA did. Kolo makes up for mistakes with pace. He got caught at Pool in CLSF and by trying to recover he brushed into that diving cunt Babel. On the floor Kolo is a good CB but aerially he is average at best. The Prem is football played in the sky so we need a big fucker with good heading ability. Alex from the Chavs is my shout, he was great against us for PSV and we can take Gomes too. They know each other and would fit in faster with the other defenders. What do I know.
May 10, 2008 at 21:33
They’d never sell him El Tel.
May 10, 2008 at 21:34
its very positive for us today, there must be a new spin doctor in place!!, i hope we end on a high tommorrow,
May 10, 2008 at 21:35
Keown was a bit part player at that time while Kolo was being introduced to his new position if im right, exactly RO Eduardo is expected back in December so I dont think we need a striker maybe a Playmaker, A CB and a DM any ideas?
May 10, 2008 at 21:40
It could well be Kranjar to replace Hleb. There has been far to much speculation about him including stuff from his father so I reckon they have already been in talks.
So three weeks to wait until we hear stuff, exciting.
May 10, 2008 at 21:46
I don’t think Kranjcar is anywhere near good enough to replace Hleb. Watched him quite a few times because I had an inkling he may be linked to us and he practically did nothing in every game, He has a sound technical game but he is just so slow. I’ve seen cruise liners turn quicker than him and he hasn’t scored much more than Hleb. It’s not as if Portsmouth are a defensive team either.
Ben Arfa would be a much better signing. However the guy I really want is Miralim Pjanic of Metz. We were linked to him a few months ago as well.
May 10, 2008 at 21:47
I am hedging my bets that Hleb is offski so I think we need 3 in
In order of Priority
1. CB
2. LW (Preferably someone like Pires who can play L or R)
3. CM
And if we had the cash I would also bring in another FWD. I know Eduardo is back at Crimbo but if we dont start the Season full strength in numbers it could be all over by Crimbo. I dont like the thought of starting the Season with Ade, RVP and Nic B, it leaves no room for having a game changer on the bench, goal droughts or injury.
Hopefully if they can get robotic limbs, RVP and Rosicky will be like new signings
May 10, 2008 at 21:53
The Boss did say
“I hope to turn that around in the next two or three weeks. They (fans) should be re-assured by what they see.”
Well Boss if you are reading, sorry Kranjcar wont be re-assuring this gooner. I guess you base that on plan A where Hleb stays well sorry we need a pacy goal scoring winger like we did at the start of last season. If this is the plan save yourself some cash and keep playing Diaby out of position on the wing (Which is also arse)
Sorry if I have offended anyone there, I just dont particularly rate him especially when you his inflated premiership price tag will be the same as Ben Arfa
May 10, 2008 at 21:53
I think Arsenal need a new centre back to replace Toure.
Need a new defensive midfielder.
Need cover for Cesc.
If we lose Hleb, we need two wide men. One winger and one Hleb style player. Hopefully he stays.
That’s four players.
May 10, 2008 at 21:53
A maximum of 3 weeks, he said two or three so hopefully it’ll be sooner but I’m sure the press will soon get wind of any impending deals.
Geoff, I’m not sure he loves Kolo more than Eboue, but regardless Eboue has been playing right wing & I think Theo will be the starter there next season so Toure can’t have that position either. Thats if Wenger hasn’t decided to strengthen the right wing.
I definately think Kranjcar is the one he wants & he appears a popular choice, I just don’t see that he’s that good myself. Hopefully when he says he wants someone from the premier league maybe he’s talking about an established defender.
May 10, 2008 at 21:55
Paulinho,
Whether we like it or not you have to include Vela as one so that takes your list to 3!!
May 10, 2008 at 21:55
I’m a bit pissed, but here goes…
Kranky would be a good addition… Pompey have been good this season, he doesn’t seem to get injured too much and he is accustomed to the Prem.
Arfa would be brilliant, I would love him to sign. He would be a signing of intent for sure!
Ramos? Well, that is dream world. £40mill at least for his signature and no defender is worth that!
I think Hleb is staying unless we get a good fee for him!
Nasri… He looks amazing on youtube, but is he what we need? Do we need a hleb to replace hleb? Or do we need an Overmars/Pires to replace Hleb… I think the latter would be a better idea!
Arsenal are under the kosh and I think this is the kick up the arse Wenger needs. I think he’ll come out all guns blazing this summer!
Anyway, great post, great blogging guys!
Till tomorrow… or today?
May 10, 2008 at 21:55
Sorry, five.
May 10, 2008 at 21:59
I read one of the AKB comments from earlier… someone saId Le Grove doesn’t have a sense of humour!
DO ME A FAVOUR!
May 10, 2008 at 22:01
Oh yeah, Vela. Though, at the risk of sounding like a complete doom merchant, I don’t think he is particularly good either.
Pedro, I think Wenger likes the Hleb type player. He likes guys that come in off the flank and play short triangles with Cesc. If we get a direct winger Fabregas won’t be as effective. In my opinion anyway,
May 10, 2008 at 22:01
“I know what I want and I am very confident,” said Wenger.
“I hope to turn that around in the next two or three weeks. They (fans) should be re-assured by what they see.
“It would be better to buy someone who has played in England because they are less risky, but it costs more money if they are from The Premier League,” he went on.
“Maybe I will try to do both.”
Kranky and Arfa… a bit of both… lets see what happens?
i’m really going now… night all!
May 10, 2008 at 22:03
Paulinho… Arfa or Kranky?
Don’t you think Cesc would work better with an Arfa… he’d have some pace to feed!
May 10, 2008 at 22:07
I agree, we need more fire power up front maybe Vella will be played in his natural postion as a deep striker playing in that mystical postion between attack and midfield, maybe this is the reason why Ben Arfa is being made out to be so important.
I strikes me that this Be Arfa thing could be nothing more than a red herring as i think the player to be slotted into the wide left postion is already at the club and has been groomed to be aware of his roll in defending his full back as well as causing mayhem down the flank it cannot be just coincdence that that Traore has now been pushed forewards in reserve matches and playes for the first team as a winger when he came on as a sub.
As for a big powerfull center half I’d like to offer up Lillian Thuram as a candidate, he’s a monster but a fantastic footballer and leader on the pitch reads the game well and would not be out muscled by the likes of Terry and Ferdinand.
S for the situation with Helb his silence is defening so well done Arsene for trying to show the players who runs Arsenal football club.
I’d also like to see a number of the reserve players make the step up to the first team and get a chance to play in a few matches, players like Bazerite, Jay Simpson, Gibbs, Lansbury, Randel, Trarore would be great additions to the squad as they have all been schooled by us to play the Arsenal way.
So for the new season we should have an influx of new players into the first team squad that will more than compensate for the loss of Flamini and maybe Gilberto.
May 10, 2008 at 22:08
Arfa.
Cesc is such a genious he could adapt his game for anyone.
May 10, 2008 at 22:08
Well its good to hear something happening, its good to get the signings done before euro 2008.
Hatem Ben Arfa or Samir Nasri has to be signed
Micah Richards, Michael Johnson, Gareth Barry, Niko Kranjcar, Charles N’Zogbia
are the only ones from the prem he probarly buy
May 10, 2008 at 22:09
Its Ben Arfa for me every day of the week. like you said earlier, it would be a signing of intent and one that would reassure the fans
for Kranky would be an ok squad player but we have loads of them. just think we have a greater need elsewhere
May 10, 2008 at 22:11
SWP would be a great signing for us
Hatem Ben Arfa and SWP on the wings, and we got carlos vela as a super sub
May 10, 2008 at 22:11
Pat, I am with you… We need pace, width and trickery! Not technique, dribbling and acute passing… as great as that has been this year.
Give me the goals of pires and overmars any day of the week! Oh how I miss a proper winger at arsenal!
May 10, 2008 at 22:13
SWP, would be the ideal player to have on the right wing
Niko Kranjcar is good, i think if he came to our team he would do really well especially when eduardo is fit
Its a shame, Eduardo got fuecked up because i was so looking forward of him finishing goals at the euros and making a name for him self
May 10, 2008 at 22:13
No Vela hasn’t looked particularly good, but he’s playing with c*** players which can’t help.
I think he’ll be a great player in a few years time but he needs to be given time & unfortunately due to some very irresponsible blogs he’s been made out to be a world beater & the fans will be on his back when he isn’t!!
May 10, 2008 at 22:14
Robert Pires was not really a winger, he wanted to play behind the striker
Marc Overmars was a winger, and he was fantastic….
May 10, 2008 at 22:18
Thats what I am after this summer, that excitement I got when Bergkamp, Overmars and Pires joined.
I know Sagna and Eduardo turned out ok, but there was no initial excitement.
I know that is a bit lame but it is what I want
May 10, 2008 at 22:18
Denis Bergkamp and David Platt was a good summer
then Marc Overmars…. came
May 10, 2008 at 22:25
I think that Ben Arfa will join.. we were in touch with Pjanic from Metz .. the young guy who is an outstanding talent..he was at the Lyon-Sedan game as a spectator invited by Lyon
to me this means that we have dropped our interest in him as part of the Ben Arfa deal
its also a well known secret that Ben Arfa and Benzema cannot continue together at Lyon as their mutual dislike is too big
I personally dont think that we are after Nasri as he is to similar to Cesc
but right now with Hleb likely to be transferred and Rosicky maybe permanently injured, we are only replacing players, not adding to the squad
I just hope that we wont sign this loser Kranjcar
May 10, 2008 at 22:26
Pat, that comment is spot on. In the end, I was pleased with Eduardo and Sagna, but the initial excitment was zilch.
Sign me Arfa, Gattuso and Richards,,, I will be excited then!
May 10, 2008 at 22:27
I would like Diego as well… pure talent and he can play anywhere across the midfield.
May 10, 2008 at 22:30
I am trying to think of the last signing we made that really got me excited
In know its not all about big names, and sometimes the unknowns really flourish, but its those moments when you hear it on the Radio and nearly crash the car, or your jumping around the house punching the air.
I think it was actually Pires or maybe Sol Campbell (based on where he came from and the fact no one saw it coming until the day it happened)
May 10, 2008 at 22:37
Pedro You should ask for everyones 3 achievable wishes this summer transfer wise.
Mine is Per Mertesacker, Benzema and Ben Arfa (They would have to have a hug and make up though)
May 10, 2008 at 22:42
about jenas and the spuds when will people wake up and realise if spuds think they are good enough then firstly they have to finish above liverpool then maybe they might get a chance of competing with us in maybe 2 or 3 seasons at least thery look lioke they are heading in the right direction darren bent 16.5 what a laugh modric if he settles quickly will be a decent player i reckon 8th next season
May 10, 2008 at 22:44
GunnerShabz, you’ve got me scared now. I hadn’t even thought about N’Zogbia but he is definately leaving Newcastle for either Arsenal or Tottenham, even Keegan has admitted that. I really, really , really hope he isn;t the player Wenger’s talking about from the premier league. If he is that would mean definately no Ben Arfa.
As for SWP I don;t get why people are still harping on about him. That guys final ball is worse than Eboue’s yet everyone seems to want him to sign. If Ian Wright wasn’t his dad nobody at Arsenal would give a damn about this two bit player. Look at it this way England prefer playing Beckham, Bentley & Lennon to SWP, that tells you a story in itself. If we sign a second rate nobody like him we’ll have no chance of success.
May 10, 2008 at 22:45
God no
Please not Nzogbia
May 10, 2008 at 23:07
What about Arteta to keep Cesc happy and Pedersen from Blackburn. Kirkland or Green, maybe Jussi. Ben Arfa and or Robinho.
May 10, 2008 at 23:16
Fucking hell guess what only he knows who we will get.
May 10, 2008 at 23:22
He is going to blow most of it on Gerrard. Fuck knows why i keep saying this but if he does i will be happy. The cryptic statement about Prem players being more expensive could mean its a biggie from the Prem.
May 10, 2008 at 23:32
Regarding Kompany, from what Ive seen very good player but I am not sure if he is good in the air so might not need him. He seems to like to get into attacks too much so he would not settle the defence so to speak.
I think the better opion is one of the 2 germans Metzelder or Matersacker on is 6′ 4″ and the other 6′ 6″ and germans tend to be strong and good in the air.
If not them Garay from argentina as i hear he is good and also a threat at set pieces, right now Van persie is only guy we have that pose a direct threat on set pieces, so we need to get more people who can score direct free kicks from time to time. Sometimes u might not get enough chances on open play so we need to take advantage of set pieces more.
May 10, 2008 at 23:38
can some1 send Wenger an email about this mertsacker if hes that good, we should get him!
May 10, 2008 at 23:50
I would also like to add.
When players say they admire Arsenal and the coach etc. WShy doesnt he just sign them. Its obviuos that if they say these things their heart is in the right place and would put their all into the games, and maybe a bit more loyal.
Also when we dont sign them usually they end up burning us. Eg…
Babel wanted to play for us, but it seems we let Liverpool out bid us.
He turns around and sends us out of the Champions league.
Also Torres wanted to be a gunner and look he helped to orchestrate Arenal exit out of the CL by scoring.
I can bet whoever David Villa signs for will some how end playing agaisnt us and I would ev
May 10, 2008 at 23:56
I would not even want to see him(Villa) scoring against us to crash our dreams once again.
I can understand not wanting to spend silly money every season but if a good player calls out we should make an effort to get them.
I think from what i read we bid 6 mil on Babel and Liverpool got him for 11mil.
That extra 5 in my opinion will not send the club into bankruptcy in the long run. It is also very possible that if we had Babel we could have won the league as we would have had another option when we had the goal drought after Eduardo’s injury. And also its possible we would be in the CL final, I am sure that would have more than made for the extra 5-6 mil on Babel.
I feel sometimes the club might be over doing the money pinching thing.
They are becoming penny wise and pound foolish.
May 11, 2008 at 00:06
Don’t believe a word unless it’s on Arsenal.com or I hear it straight from the Professor’s mouth
May 11, 2008 at 00:25
Babel wasnt super good this season, he did score the consolation goal. some of the other games i saw him play were not that special, however in a better team he might be good!
May 11, 2008 at 00:42
about apologising to ade..u should think a bit before you believe what you read in the shittest anti-arsenal & all foreigner racist paper in the world..the daily mail….shame on you! but u’ve redeemed urself so its ok!lol
May 11, 2008 at 00:49
So Wenger to make quick signings to reassure the fans…

Thats gotta be so good news for all concerned?
May 11, 2008 at 00:51
Back with a bump in tomorrows papers
Firstly the only transfer hint in the NOTW is for that well known world beater
Wait for it
David Dunne
Honestly the Giants of European Football must be quaking. Seriously I know its only speculation but come on journos you can do better than that. I just hope Arsene does
Story reads
ARSENAL are weighing up a shock cut-price £1million deal for Manchester City’s defensive skipper Richard Dunne.
The Republic of Ireland international will be available for that knockdown figure under a FIFA regulation that allows him to buy out the remaining year of his contract.
MNewcastle are also interested in signing Dunne but the lure of Champions League football and a £45,000-a-week contract offer from the Gunners could tempt him.
Ideally Arsene Wenger would like Dunne’s partner Micah Richards but he would not be able to compete with Manchester United, Chelsea or even Tottenham in the race for the £20m-rated England star.
But Dunne, who has fallen out with the City hierarchy over his backing for boss Sven Goran Eriksson, represents a value-for-money alternative for Wenger, who is seeking to bolster his faulty central defence.
May 11, 2008 at 00:51
i dont know about this Jean Makoun, he would need to give up Cameroon for me to be keen!
May 11, 2008 at 00:54
i didnt see that article Pat, but it looks like we will be signing players in the next 2-3 weeks and at least on of the signings will be from the Premier league, so thats gotta be good!
May 11, 2008 at 00:55
Next up is the 1st words from Flamini,
MATHIEU FLAMINI admitted last night he might have stayed with Arsenal if they had won the Premier League.
The French midfielder, who will go to AC Milan in July, said: “That would have weighed in the balance. It would certainly have counted.
“I actually wanted to sign a new contract at Arsenal last July but it didn’t happen. AC Milan did so much to sign me I couldn’t refuse.”
Flamini spoke exclusively for the first time of the dilemma that faced him and the frustration that now threatens the future of Gunners stars like Alexander Hleb and Emmanuel Adebayor.
Flamini said: “What happened to us after leading the League for so long was the most painful experience I had during four years at Arsenal.
“It has hurt terribly to have invested so much of yourself, to have given everything, to have gone beyond pain and to fall short in the end.
“I hope with all my heart that Arsenal win the title next year. And I would love to play against them in the Champions League Final next year.”
May 11, 2008 at 01:00
Yeah the News of the World does not get picked up by News now, so you need to dig for it
the link does not work but go to there site, it is easy to find.
I am happy to pick up players from the Premier League but not at that standard. I dont really see how it improves us
Apologies too, it was meant to read Richard Dunne
May 11, 2008 at 01:06
pat – depends on who it is, Barry, Krancjar, Berbatov…they could be ok
May 11, 2008 at 01:08
And do they honestly think that with the potential use of Article 17 by Hleb, we would encourage the same antics by a Man City player
I am maybe too harsh on Richard, I know he is a steady player, I Just cant see where it improves us.
May 11, 2008 at 01:09
I would take Barry, but again not sure on how Krancjar improves us, Berbatov would be great but I dont think we would ever get him.
May 11, 2008 at 01:16
yeah i know nil about Krancjar except that hes on pompeys list.
if Berba wants out, he is quality, except we have too many strikers, so i dont think Wenger would look at him and he already looked at him once before, so it seems unlikely
May 11, 2008 at 06:14
Testing, testing, 1 2 3. I’m I on?
May 11, 2008 at 06:16
I mean am I on. Something went wrong with my link. Oh there you go my initial post appears. G’ Day everyone. Did some one mention Gerrard to arsenal???
May 11, 2008 at 07:18
Yes they did but they would never sell him to us and we would never spend that sort of money.
May 11, 2008 at 07:51
Point taken, Geoff, Cheers.
May 11, 2008 at 08:45
sell, sell, sell and buy buy buy!
May 11, 2008 at 09:03
New post up Grovers!
May 11, 2008 at 09:20
TOO ALL
its good to see wenger come out and tell the fans we will be impressed with his replacement signings .. I called him OUT to do it .. and logically he didnt let me down .
Even more proof that wenger must read geoffs/pedros blog !
Also i did read some wise ass earlier called wise gooner try any upset the harmony with his AKB propaganda campaign on our blog . For the record wisearse gooner it was wengers responsiblity fully RE FLAMONEY .
as he took steps to play the player for the season whilst not securing his contract , his confidence in letting diarra leave , and now we find ourselves in this predicament…
WHO DO YOU BLAME ? the bus boys ? the board ? wenger controls the player contracts and it was part of his signing agreement when he re-signed if you cant remember ..
I don’t think you can blame any other person for HIS wage structure which he says HE must protect and obey which he’s stated publicly . Likewise in the past losing players like pires due to other ridiculous other statutes like his over 30’s policies ..
These issues still need addressing or we will get a sub- class of personnel in at the club.
Everyone is accountable , no one is beyond the club , not even sir wenger .. he isnt saint wenger .. he does do wrong and i commend free spirited gunners here for voicing there opinion in a democratic forum ! HERE !
I think the opposite of you , there are many Nazi blogs out there who still rant that wenger is king and can do no wrong , i think you only have to look at the physical achievements of the club in the past 4 years to see we are not the mighty club we once were and most of us here want answers .AND WANT OUR TITLE BACK !.
WE DONT WANT MORE QUESTIONS wise gooner you fucking dipshit ! Whilst i agree i think wenger is a puppet for the clubs finances it can be proven that wenger does a lot at the club and is responsible for more than just coaching and man management , he is a manager and is responsible for his players signatures foremost !! When we let 2 good players leave on frees and websters clauses questions must be asked , and even more so , we must question wengers logic throughout the year … or why these player want to leave ? is it club spirit
Free speech is important ..if NAZISM is the way you like to read your news then go for it plenty of blogs out there that will cater for you , i can think of one straight off the bat !!! . geoff – pedro get more than enough hits on this blog everyday without your crappy ill directed comments . They top the charts in NEWS NOW . they should be commended that they are not afraid to voice an opinion and keep issues at this club honest !
WELL DONE LADS !
May 11, 2008 at 18:12
One player we’re not being linked to is Jeremy Menez. He’s a typical Wenger signing. I always worry when we’re being “overlinked” to a player (like Ben Arfa) because we never seem to sign those players!!! Ribery, Robinho, Modric, etc.. Wenger does love a smokescreen.

BTW: Great blog.
May 12, 2008 at 00:48
disappointing that a good blog like this would rip into our top scorer based on crap printed in the likes of the sun and other toe rag papers
what a bunch of naive twats – honestly – really poor
May 12, 2008 at 03:39
Fuck Adebayour off from Arsenal . He is a piece of shitte. The swap deal with Eto’o is fantastic. Injury prone Robin can be swap with Henry tho… Just let Hleb go, if wants to. We can get Quaresma to replace him on the right hand side of our midfield. Ben Arfa on the left will be marvelous with Febregas & Yaya in the heart of our midfiled. Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Kalou Toure & Micah Richards can form a fantastic back four a head of Almunia. Fabianski can be his quality backup goalkeeper. Other player’s to offload for some $$$ to buy palyer’s are : 26. Bendtner, 7. Rosicky, 2. Diaby, 10. Gallas, 6. Sanderos & 31. Hoyte.
Arsenal team for 2008/2009 season :
1. Almunia
3. Sagna
5. Toure (c)
6. Richards
2. Clichy
7. Quaresma
16. Yaya
4. Febregas
8. Ben Arfa
10. Eto’o
14. Henry
Supersubs :
21. Fabianski
17. Ebue
20. Djourou
18. Norveidt
22. Traore
15. Denilson
19. Gilberto
13. Song
12. Vela
9. Eduardo
11. Walcott
Cheers
May 12, 2008 at 07:43
I Have nothing against Rihard Dunne but he is hardly the strong CB we need I dont see how we would need him Richards yes Dunne no,
The players apart from him we are being linked with sound good so far Yaya,Ben Arfa,Kranjcar,Kompany
Good stuff keep it up AW
May 12, 2008 at 11:26
GMR,there is a small flaw in your arguement re Wenger and your view that he is being hypocrytical re A.C Milan’s perceived illegal approach. You seem to have forgotten that there is no law(withn football) preventing Arsene’s approach to recruiting the likes of Cesc Fabrigas, although understandably it infuriates the likes of Barcelona. However there is a law preventing a club approaching a player directly when he has over a certain period left to run on his contact. So what exactly do you find that is so embarrassing about Arsene pointing this out?I would be fascinated to see this quote that you refer to which shows Arsene “inferring that Arsenal’s entire history is clean.”
May 16, 2008 at 16:49
Loved the comments about the yids man.. hilarious!!!
