Well I think he has to make the signings… If I understand it right, Gilberto wasn’t mobile enough in the middle… hence Flamini and Diarra. So he can’t revert back to Bertie?

Song is being groomed as a centre back… too slow, too lazy for CM
Denilson is more of a cesc… too small, too weak
JD is untested

He has to buy in that position and I think he has to buy a centre back, either replace Big Phil or… LET THE CAPTAIN GO!

Wenger did say he was going to sign a defensive player who could deal with route 1 balls.

Is that definitly a defender, or could it be a man mountain of a defensive midfielder? I am guessing its a defender… but having someone like PV04 in the holding role usually stopped the long ball thugs in their tracks.

Any transfer news this morning?

Did Wenger actually say he was going to sign a defender? All I’ve seen is comments that he’s going to sign a defensive player who can deal with route one balls.

Maybe he will sign a commanding defensive midfielder to play in a diamond formation, I suppose that could be even more likely now that Flamini has gone.
