Brainwash online TV conning us all + £25mill Budget myth.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Arsenal fans have been talking a lot over the last few days regarding the amount of transfer cash we ‘could’ have over the summer.

Can I just say firstly, I am no expert in finance, but if Keith Edelman says we have £70 million to spend… I am going to trust his words on the matter. An amateur assessment over the size of our transfer kitty based on the same facts any fan could view is not going to get me worried.

It is interesting that the story was not published on the AST’s website which would again reinforce my opinion that the article was speculative.

When you run a business like Arsenal, you are responsible to shareholders and customers, in other words the supporters, you can’t go public with a statement which says you have £70 mil for players if you haven’t. Simple. You can’t tell porkies in an annual report that’s audited, it’s illegal.

This is the cave man assessment of our debt, in other words a very rough guide.

Out – £450 million for the stadium.

In – £150 mil from Emirates up front, £50 mil for the shirt sponsor (Emirates) up front, £250 mil from Highbury.

That’s kind of washing it’s face. Now then you add to that match day revenue, concerts, International matches, prize money from the EPL and Uefa, TV money, Nike, Internet, shirt sales and money that hasn’t been spent over the years, I think you’ll find he easily has £70 mil to spend purely on players.

Salaries come out of cost of sales, same as with any other business.

Foreign Ownership

So the debate rages…

Argument 1: If we are skint why don’t we get a big old sugar daddy to takeover?

Argument 2: We need stability and a board that have the interests of the club at heart.

My argument…

Actually we don’t need either?

We have been prudent as a board and have a well run club, Wenger has a £70 mil transfer fund, why? because Edelman publicly said so. If ‘intellectual’ blogs try and tell you he doesn’t and you believe them, that’s your prerogative. We don’t believe them.

The budget is Wenger’s and if it’s not spent, that’s down to him, not the board, a sugar daddy won’t cure that.

Arsenal TV are very cleverly showing you the new generation of kids, and we’re all salivating at the prospect of the new Gazza, the new Bergkamp and the new Liam Brady, that way if no significant signings come in, we won’t care because we’ve been pre conditioned.

Very clever Arsenal, but that’s papering over the cracks, bring in some players and some silverware so we can brag to the rest of the premier league, we already brag that we’re still English and not owned by people that don’t care.

David Dein said this,

“As a devoted Arsenal fan I don’t want to see them left behind.”

He was a fool for selling up, but you can’t deny he is Arsenal through and through. Maybe he is right with what he is saying? Could another summer of underinvestment see us lagging behind the rest for a 4th season running?

Lets hope that Wenger is bluffing when he says he doesn’t have much money available… otherwise Usmadein and the Kroenkenites may find themselves with a little more support than they had last summer.

The measure of any well run business is the dividend it pays to its shareholders. The measurement of success of a football club is silverware, that is the dividend a football club should look for.

Don’t forget people, we are supposed to be a Football club, not a case study for a well run business…

Anyway, enough of my thoughts… how about a few of yours!

See you in the Comments section!

  1. Stupid

I think if you go back to the postings on here and other arse blogs/forums around xmas time early january time

it was all… wenger is the bizenss etc etc

    how fickle people really are.

lets be honest, the squad was wafer thin, the injuries found us out.

by the time the big big games came around we were knackered and could not give our all for 90 minutes.

but we should be in the semis of the champs league, clearly we got mugged off by a bent ref.

the league we have lost fair and square.

  2. Stupid

had we of finished a dire 4th in the league without ever really challenging for the title, or had dissappeared into oblivion after another early 2nd round champs league defeat.. i could understand the pessimism a lot more.

but as it stands, i don’t.

  3. Stupid

have a proper look back at this season. when was the last season we …

played liverpool off the park at anfield?

butchered utd at OT, and even had red face lauding us?

outbattled chelski at the bridge for over 70 mins?

played meelan off the park at the san siro?

  4. Stupid

ok fair enough… we only ended up winning one of those games :(

but with the experience and a couple of class signings.. the job will be finished next season :)

  5. James73

Speaking for myself the pessimism comes fron Wenger’s belief that this current squad will press on next season and become even better and sweep all before them. I cannot see it. I think Flamini and Hleb will go, I am worried AW believes Song is the answer at centre half, Eduardo is out for next season and I am worried he will do very little in the market this summer. So we will be left once again with a very thin squad and we will be relient on too many youngsters.

I just think he sounds a bit like Hitler in his bunker at the moment, eg we will come back stronger and better and we will win! I lack his belief.

Thinking the way I do I can only view next season as a year on the beer (no change there) and hopefully a couple of decent trips in Europe. I really don’t expect anything from next season.

Bring on the humble pie next May!

  6. YangKamp10

    Quite a hot debate today. Not too much to add as a lot has been covered so far but in a nut shell;
Wenger is not a idiot. He is a quality football manager. He has shown that you dont neccessarily need to spend 60m every summer to challenge for the title/stay in CL. NOT another coach in the league could do that. END OF.
And it a bloody good thing he can do that because the club during its Stadium building years simply could not afford to spend top dollar on world stars. Hence the major investment into quality youth.
Now there’s been a lot of spin for Wenger and the board about what we have to spend etc. They cant very well come out saying ‘we’ve got zip’ because it crushes moral. But the players know it. Thats why Henry left. He was told that we would not invest in the likes of Ribery et al. He dicided that he couldn’t wait for Cesc, Walcott and Ade to become world class. For 2 of the three its taken a lot less time that he thought IMO.
This summer…well we’ll have to see, I think we need to spend, realistically now…about 50m. This would get us quality in the following areas: GK competition, World Class Centre Half, World Class winger and World Class Striker. If this money is in fact not availible at least half of it should be, and with sales of players that are not going to make it at Arsenal, Hoyte, Senderos, Bentender etc, we should be able to raise the rest.
Having said all this, if you take the CL semi’s of this week and our close losses to Utd Chavs and Pool recently. Our TEAM is not far off theirs. Concentration at the back and finishing at the front is the only difference.

  7. goonerjay

that’s just it mate… we need class signings and it doesn’t look like we are going to get any of those for at least another year and i am beginning to get the hump with Scouse, chav and manc fans gloating about how they are achieving more than us

  8. AL

I never want a russian or american owner these guys will stitch us up something chronic. The truth is the current sky/setanta deal is the reason everyone wants a piece of a premier league club. we are in fottball boom years and with every boom there is a slowdown where will the Glazers/ Hicks Gillet be then?

Chelsea is a toy for Abramovic what if something happened to him or he get fed up with them they would go bankrupt in 24 hours as he bales them out to tune of about £100 mil per year.

So if you ask me what would I prefer I would prefer Arsenal to stay as it is and I for one can not forgive David Dein for selling his shares to the Russian and I could never and would never support the club if he took over, My first visit to Highbury was march 1983 and it would break my heart if we were owned by him.

  9. Pedro

That’s great stupid, but you could take 4 highlights from Boro’s season and claim they were nearly there…

The only team they haven’t beaten out of the top four is the Chavs… and they were mega unlucky not to get the win!

That comparison is unfair, but I can’t look back on this season with a smile. I feel like we were robbed.

It hasn’t been terrible, and we are nearly there… but I can’t help but look back to Jan with my good pal hindsight and say… what if?

  10. Odub

    Stupid,
Liverpool, we beat them 2-1 enroute to winning the league (Pires,Ljunberg), 3-4 years back I think
We’ve beaten the mancs at home (98,01,last season), and we beat them at home twice in the fa cup recently
We’re the last team to beat the chavs at home and we used to do it every season, Nigel Winterburns goal in 98 come to mind.

We also beat Inter 5-1 at home, beat Madrid at home, and beat Juve over 2 legs, also bear in mind we should have beaten milan a lot more over the 2 legs. All in the last 4/5 seasons

I’d still say this season was a failure all round considering how much promise exhibited to start with, and where we’ve ended up.

My positives for this season, Sagna, Clichy, Theo.
Favourite result – beating the chavs at home 1-0 and the CL win at Milan. Not much of a successful season is it?

At least we got to the Carling Cup last season!! lol

  11. BB

Arsenal and Arsene feed off each other .. fact
Wenger would never want a job like Rijkaard got where he would be constantly in the firing line
he likes his “team builiding” exercise

unfortunately and despite the fact that he surely puts himself under some pressure, it is not the same than having to win titles and chieve results year after year

as far as team builiding si concerned, surely he would put a stop to crucial players leaving

we sold TH14 last year, this tear Flam/Hleb will leave .. what the fukk??

how much is 10K worth versus a keeping a strong team together.. we get sold the same bullshit every season and will face the same difficulties every season until somebody breaks up that cosyness between wenger and the club..

bring DD back and get rid of these KE/PHW wankers

at the end of the day, Usmanov is no worse than a tax exiled diamonds geezer ..

since when is Sierra Leone a heaven of demrocracy .. or Congo for the sake of it??

  12. Stupid

Yes i know we have beaten them in previous seasons.. the best won being that outrageous win at highbury around easter 2004. when henry and pires turned it on bigstyle.

i was talking about this season though, as i thought pedro was.

  13. Pedro

Don’t say those words… I hear he has been locked in a room with a copy of the Arsenal Opus for 5 weeks waiting to unleash the stats on us!

  14. Gooner

Cool down Gelbs’. I share your pessimism. But lets not trash the guy eyes closed. Surely his stubbornness, and other flaws are costing the team. LEt’s give him one more season. Let’s wait and find out what he does this summer.

and oh, I’d rather have 1 caring fan like Gelbs than a silly AKB.

  15. Odub

Must admit another highlight of this season has been this site!!

Pedro, you guys have had some strange ones on here!! Ray Gooner’s one for a start!

  16. Gooner

And let’s highlight this point yet again. SOmeone needs to put up a banner to let him know our feelings:

12 years – big fat 0 UCL trophies.

What an appalling record! Unacceptable, and pathetic!

  17. Odub

yeah the CL record is abysmal considering we’ve been in it 10 years on the trot!! 1 final and 4/5 Q finals and that’s it!! Poor!!

  18. El Tel

AW isn’t an idiot Gelbs but I am right by your side regarding the rest. I want the lovely football but to say we are the only ones who play this way is bollocks. We do have marvellous players who can only get better but we need some tough fuckers in there too. What is most annoying is that we get linked with more players than anyone else in the Prem but get none of them and thats going back to GG’s time too. This so called keep things hush hush to get who we want is nonsense. Tell the world who we want and fuck it if the money spenders nick them off us. At least we will know we are not getting money grabbing cunts if they choose them before us.

  19. Stupid

got me thinking.. are we the unluckies club in terms of defeat in the dying minutes of big games?

aside from sunderland in the 79 final and mickey at anfield 89… we have been done hard in the last mins of big games

fa cup replay 99 – missed pen in injury time

2001 – owne mugged us in the cup final

2004- wayne brodge in the 88th min

2006 – champions leage victory to defeat inside the last 12 mins

2007 – 85th min drogba goal steals the carling cup

2007 – dying minute away goal from psv knocks out ot of the ucl

2008 – 86 th minute pen given to pool

  20. El Tel

We didn’t lose to the big teams last season and finished worse off than this one. We need to trash the minnows if we are to win the Prem. Cunts like Brum, Wigan,Boro,Bolton. The Mancs see thes games as guaranteed points because these wankers lie down for them. Fuck beating the Spuds for years and wasting energy on these cunts along with the Mancs and Chavs. Work out the points we need to win it by thrashing the shitters and be tight against the better sides.

  21. Pedro

So what do people think will happen in the summer?

    Is Wenger bluffing?

Will he sign some proven quality?

And why does everyone think we need a new striker? I think the current crop will supply enough goals.

And finally… My 3 predictions for making the grade next year…

    Simpson
    Vela
    Barazite

    What do you think?

  22. El Tel

We need a Keeper Pedro I think. A winger too. A striker only if they are better than waht we have.

    To break through.

    Theo.
    Dennilson.
    Barazite.

  23. goonerjay

we need a keeper, quality monster lurch looking CB and a proven goal scoring winger.

Players to come through next season i think will be Walcott, Vela and Barazite

  24. Odub

Need a CB and keeper, we’ll live with what we’ve got at the mo in the other positions.

Theo, Nordveit, Fabianski, Vela and maybe, maybe Jay Emmanuel Thomas.

  25. El Tel

Yes start from the back. A keeper will keep us in the games where we get a draw. Van Der Sar was red noses best buy recently. The Chavs have Chec and we have aSpanish waiter. Pools keeper only slightly better but thats why they are worse off than us. Unless they fluke the CL again.

  26. Stupid

We need a right sided winger for a definate, an out and out tricky winger.

do not want to see theo out wide again fron next season, give him a go at his proper position up front.

  27. Pedro

Why would you get rid of Almunia?

I think he has been great this year… I can think of 1 error?

Not bad in your first year as number 1!

    What about Simpson Stupid?

  28. Odub

right wings covered, either Theo, Rosicky, Diaby or Denilson have been used previously in that position, and he will not get anyone else in, Trust me!

Almunia surprised us, but that doesn’t mean he’s been good enough, I’d get Gomez if we can afford to, and then a CB that looks like the ugly sisters’ younger brother Keown/Andre the giant type person. I’d like to see that cnut Drogba muscle him of the ball!

  29. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

    Ok, on the AW debate, at the risk of being branded an AKB sympathiser I would like to say that in my humble opinion Le Boss has had a tough 2008 and he has felt the strain and he has admitted that he deserves some criticism; let’s look at what was in his power to change;

    1. should have strengthened in Jan, given the injury problems, the lack of form from Gilb/Lehmann and the ACN. He didn’t – wrong move. Even a loan like MU got for Larsson would have done.

    2. He persisted with Eboue and Diaby and Senderos and even Adebayor despite utterly useless displays. Wrong move. Should have freshened up.

    3. He fielded completely mismatched teams against spuds and manure in the cups and destroyed this fragile squad’s sense of invincibility. Losing a close game 2-1 is one thing – losing 4-0 and 5-1 is soul destroying.

    BUT in his defence he has had some shocking things happen along the way;

    1. Eduardo injury – the player Wenger described as his secret weapon for the 2nd half of the season. Horrible injury – affected the game, the squad and our goal potential for the rest of the season.
    2. Other injuries – RVP and Rosicky, two 100% 1st team regulars when fit have barely had a kick all season. We missed them at crucial times.
    3. Awful decisions – We have certainly been pissed on with decisions for sure. Won’t go into where cos we all know but that is awful.

So I think Le Boss has definitely made errors this season, 100% but at the same time these mistakes have been magnified 1000 times by the other things that have gone wrong for him. Yes this 2008 has been a spectacular melt down and we deserve more as fans but Arsene is hurting as much as we are.

Bottom line for me is that without Arsene we would be a poorer side, less attractive to some of the hottest prospects in Europe. Theo/Vela/Cesc/Freeman/Denilson/Merida etc all wanted to come and play for Arsenal but also Arsene. Cesc has already said his future at the club is tied to Wenger.

That speaks volumes about the man guys.

  30. Odub

AW will be resting players for the next 3 games, mainly players that will be involved in the Euros! With that in mind, and the fact that Hleb’s gone, Flam,Djouru,Diaby,Hoyte, Sagna and Dudu are injured, who the fuck’s going to play on Monday?!!

  31. goonerjay

    good old Alf.

It’s not right wing that’s the problem… Rosicky never ocupies the right it is the left side that is being left vacant which has been proved by Diaby filling in there most of the season

  32. El Tel

Almunia went walkabout at home to the Mancs, played shit at Chavs. Let in many free kicks from edge of box (his responsibility) flapped at cross before the corner that led to 1st goal at Scouseland Then stood on his line and didn’t inform any defenders to cover the gaping hole in middle of area that they scored said corner from. He is madder than the German. Too eratic for me. He makes saves look wonderful (TV saves) and I will never forgive him for the 2 goals in CLfinal that we had won. Both near post one through his legs. Sorry guys he is not AFC quality. I am spoilt by Wilson, Jennings, Rimmer,Luckic, Seaman and yes Jens.

  33. Stupid

not sure about simpson to be honest pedro.

he does not look top top class, would make a top championsip player or a lower level premiershi player.

however, i think gibbs certainly has it in him to make it.

  34. chris

good man ken i was only just thinking we were due some good news about that guy,
did you see anything else of note?

  35. choy

    fabianski

    toure song senderos? traore

    eboue denilson gilberto walcott

    nick ade?

i’m sure he won’t rest everyone at the same time… maybe a player a game

  36. Stupid

nick and ade make a terrible pairing up front, not to mention the fact they hate each other more than nigel benn & chris eubank did back in the 90′s.

    ade and theo.

  37. Paulinho

Remember last summer when somone asked Wenger what he would do if he was given a £100 million? Wenger said he would give it straight back. That tells you all you need to know about Wenger’s stubborness and spin regarding money and transfer policy.

Wenger deserves all the stick he gets for mistakes made. He was all too happy to sit back in January with a smug little smirk on his face preaching the virtues of spending no money and still being the best team in the country. Now things have gone tits up- again- he is getting all prickly and coming with his usual spiel about wages and why he can’t buy a few players.

We must be the only club in europe that year after year has to worry about players leaving. If the Webster rule was such a concern, why didn’t Wenger offer Hleb a new contract last year?

  38. GMR

So Wenger is going to rest the players who are going to the euro’s!!

Thats the final straw for me I’m going to write to the club & ask for a refund for the FA cup which he has claimed “we weren’t going” for this year & now instead of aiming for 2nd place which could still be achieveable he is going to risk throwing it away by resting a load of players.

Wenger treats the fans like idiots.

  39. chris

paulinho, to be fair that question posed would have ridiculed his employers,
if had said yes please i’d love to, he would look the fool followed by the media saying he is leaving due to purse constaints,
i think the spin was in the oposite direction,
however some bloggers we ultra quikc to shoot me down in feb when i was whinning on about not bolstering the squad, that was a must, i couldnt give a fuck about diarra going

  40. El Tel

TH14 Good points. Yes we have been robbed and stripped bare with poor injuries. Mistake number 1 3rd game of the season dropping our Goalkeeper for 2 mistakes. We hadn’t lost a game then and were lucky. Am I the only person who thinks he stuck to his principles in the Carling cup. What would have happened if a stronger team had been beaten by them? FA cup. Mistakes for playing 2 inexperienced and probably crap full backs against a team who use the wings well. Chavs away mistake again, we were playing well but his subs gave them the momentum to push on and force us to concede. Drogshit didn’t really play that well he had a 10 minute spell when Sagna went off. And weak wrist helped a shot into the corner when it could have been saved by a Keeper. The worst mistake was Pool at home in the league, again he played Hoyte and eboue together he weakened the team. A better result here would see us in front of the Chavs and worrying the Mancscum who could blow the lot by the way.

  41. Ken

Chris, nothing really, just thought I’d post that about Eduardo to try and lighten the mood, everything else I read about The Arse these days leaves me feeling slightly depressed..

  42. El Tel

We keep Sicky fresh for the Czechs for what reason? I love the little Mozarts football but he is taking the piss.

  43. chris

Ken, yeah i know what you mean,
who would you like to see on monday night, seeing as there is going to be rests

  44. Odub

    Ken same here.

Been really trying to keep positive, I actually sat in the ground on saturday and said to the missus when we went 2 up, if we win all our games and the manc and chavs draw on saturday, and then lose their next 2 games due to distraction by the CL, we could still win the league!!

    I wont repeat her response!

  45. chris

it will be a draw on saturday so god knows what will happen
newcastle may also take something from the chavs and west ham may do something over manu,

  46. Ken

Chris, if it was up to me I’d play the strongest team possible, finish on a high and start from there next season but if we do rest players then I’d give Theo and Hoyte and Denilson a few starts, might do something for their confidence. Maybe try Traore on the left wing, it seems more natural to him from what I’ve seen from the reserves.

  47. choy

The Emirates Stadium, has been voted best business tourist venue in the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence.

  48. James73

His comments about Derby have really pissed me off as well. Wouldn’t it be nice if he said:

I am going to play my strongest team and try my best to reward the fans who are going (which I am ) to the game on a Monday night when we have nothing at stake.

Suggestion for this website for next season. Start a “tiredness” calender and we can record every time AW comes out with nonsense about tiredness and deep fatigue. My bet will be August, on the back of the euros.

  49. BB

gay whores shagging mozart is on the recovery road to be fit for the Europeans finals ..
always gonna happen .. he must prefer the extra curricular activities with his czech mates .. hopefully he plays well and we can sell him to Inter for 15MM quid..
Wenger saying he is ersting Euro players is just a facade to use his youngsters .. thats all .. so a few more humiliations on our way .. maybe the last team to lose to Derby before these cunts go down
or Roy Keane doing a ManU on us .. its just a fukking joke

  50. BB

james7 .. Wenger/AFC dont give a flying fuck about us fans .. our wallets are just there to be raped .. we can travel for donkey’s yeras and who gives a shit??

no..in fact..Monsieur Wenger is upset because he feels that his critics are hitting too low .. he should get kicked up his arse..had enough of his crap

  51. Odub

chris…please, let’s not do this to ourselves, aint gonna happen!

choy, to confirm your point, I saw a group of german tourists at the game on saturday with massive camers, who’d just been in the armoury and got kitted out from head to toe in arsenal gear!! they were getting dressed in the middle of the road and ripping price tags off scarves, shirts, jackets and stuff, was just very amusing watching them checking each others kits out!!

It’s official we’re a flipping amusement park!! lol

  52. chris

is traore injured from the reserve game?
it would be nice if teh players used were actually used in there prefered/actual position and not turned into elaborate experiment

  53. chris

    odub, you never know…..
yeah right of course we do, damage limitation at this stage, but i still have that bet, tenner for each point above liverpool,

  54. alex

well lads in a time where is is basically nothing positive but maybe some young ones starting at derby is around about us.

looking on the bright side chelsea are up 4 points behind us.. they can lose at man u and tie newcastle(now that owen seems able to find the net) and aslong as we put the next two away two is still a possibillty. who knows they could even lose at newcastle.

either way, we shouldnt give up all hope. we just need to ensure we put away the next three teams and build up momentum and being able to play in the shield at the start of next season and WINNING will start us off on the right foot.

  55. Pedro

Guys can you stop complaining about prices? I love the fact we are the most profitable club in the world… it makes being trophyless much more bearable!

Think of it this way, the more money he takes from us… the higher the chances of us retaining the accolade next year!

I think it is great that our players are injured all year… until the Euro’s/World Cup is on! It will be brilliant to see Rosicky and RvP playing 8 games in the summer… we’ve barely got that out of them all year!

Lets do a sweep stake… where do you think Arsenal will finish in the summer spending table? I’d say bottom 5… Stoke will spend more than us… as will West brom…

Sunderland invested more than us last year right?

  56. chris

so its hoyte and Johan Djourou that are injured and no diaby either,
so who the fuck is he exactly going to use,

  57. Odub

Some of the ladies team will be playing on monday at this rate!! They’d probably still beat derby 8-0 anyway!!!

  58. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

Is Johan Djourou a figment of my imagination? I am sure I saw him playing for Birmingham in the 1st half of the season, supposedly so that when Kolo went to the ACN he could slot straight in, having been match fit from Birmingham. And from me reckoning he has been injured and bounced to the reserves ever since….

I take it he is getting flogged off in the summer??

  59. Pedro

Just make sure we don’t play a 40 year slapper in suspenders in midfield… Jewell will be nicking the sky camera and nailing her in no time! Dirty man…

I hope we get to see Barazite!

You know if we play loads of kids and win… we’ll be waxing over it all summer!

Who needs superstars! We have Didier Quomooo from the youth team!

  60. Pedro

I’ve been saying this since September:

    Adebayor’s Agent.

‘I know the interest of AC Milan and Juventus through those who write in the newspapers, but I have not yet met anybody, so there are no negotiations just yet .’

‘He has a contract with Arsenal until 2011, but it is obvious that if teams like Milan and Juventus were to come forward we should think about it .’

‘As I said, for now I’ve not met anybody, but next week I will speak with Wenger.’

  61. BB

pedro.. u reckon its part of the scheme to keep us out of the transfer market??

maybe .. he’s fast turning into a devil..that man Arsene

  62. Geoff

If Rosicky plays in the Euros I hope he breaks both legs, the shameful cunt, he has no scruples and must hate us.

  63. BB

every summer its the same song .. players getting ready to leave.. does anybody at the club ever wanna do something about it??

  64. chris

Geoff, doubt he is fucking us around, the cezc’s already said he may not figure due to lack of match fitness irrispective of injuries progress

  65. Pedro

I can just imagine the Milan fans taking to Ade!

They boo Kaka and try to attack Maldini when the chips are down… Imagine how much fun he’d have over there after he misses his 3rd open goal of the game!

    That would be very funny…

The same with Alex ’4 Shots a season’ Hleb.

These players are not as good as they think. Why don’t they try and succeed at Arsenal before they go elsewhere?

  66. Odub

you really have a thing for him and his ho’s dont you BB!! lol

Pedro, they’ll find out the hard way, Anelka, Overmars and Petit did!

  67. BB

funny that you mention the hard way odub .. our little czech pornstar must be particularly gifted in that respect .. :-)

  68. Ethan_gunner

if anymore of our players leave maybe arsene can start recruiting the talented skirts from the ladies team .
it will save some cash there arsene , bet you havent thought of that one .. give em a hair cut and a boob reduction .. probably cheaper than signing 16 year olds !! dont need any down time , they can play next season !!! BONUS !

Maybe offer free trials to the fans … get some english talent on the cheap !
    tight ass gypsy bastards !

How many people here think arsene will sign a instant starter ?
no dudu down time .. no walcott impact players ..

Im talking sagna straight in and get dirty into the 1st team ???

  69. KJS

Gelbs had to change blogs as he spent all of last summer on Gunnerblog telling everyone how Arsenal wouldn’t finish in the top 4.

  70. BB

does anybody know the package Hleb is on at Arsenal?? .. media say that Inter are offering him 3.2MM Euros .. considering the way the UK economy is going, sterling will drop to parity against the Euro .. so that gets us to roughly 55K per wer week with the Italians .. is he on 30/35K with us??

  71. Pedro

Well, if you make good players, don’t expect them to be so thankful that they will take less than their market value… most of them showed no loyalty to the clubs that raised them, so lets not get bent out of shape when they get attracted by higher wages.

We’re like the bloke who gets his girlfriend through having an affair… then is shocked when she ends up doing the same to him!

So if the webster rule is fucking us over that badly… why don’t we chase Stevie G or some of the other players that must have been at their clubs for 3 years?

We’re not normally the most short sighted club are we? Where are all the manc players and the chavs that could leave?

Gallas signed 2 years ago… he is free to walk if he fancies it!

  72. GMR

F**k it, I think its about time we just start playing British youngsters that may have a bit more decency towards the club. Cashley is one example of that not always being true but for the main part British players are more loyal.

I’m sick of signing these overpaid foreigners just so they can p**s off as soon as they have one decent season, how the hell is Wenger’s supposed plan ever going to work when he keeps buying the same type players.

I’m really f***ing sick of it.

  73. BB

we have finished top 4 geoff .. how on earth are the toffs gonna catch us? maybe 5 pointers games whilst we are at it..

foreigner or not .. thats not the issue.. surely considering the money in the UK game will turn a hew heads if our lads were good decent English boys

did Stevie G not try and leave Pool for the cunts in west london!!!!!!!!!

thats a severe warning sign for your theory GMR

  74. Odub

didnt the kid that went to colchester bugger off because he didnt want to play reserve footie as well? what about stokes? why did he leave?

  75. Odub

Zoom Lion we had Yaya Toure, apparently we didnt think he would make the grade… Another A grade decision by Arsenal FC, high fives and back slaps all round!! The guy was MOTM last night ffs!!

  76. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

Odub, not sure we had Yaya on a platter to be honest, apparently he wanted to play in spain before trying the premiership later in his career like Makelele did. I think Le Boss cooled on him as well but I think the ultimate reasons were pay/fee and the chance to play at Barca convinced Yaya to move to Spain.

He could still play for us one day…..maybe….oh fuck it no he won’t,

  77. Pedro

I think we can tell how loyal the English boys are… they are all at Chelsea for the roubles!

The English are no better than the foreigners… greed is King!

  78. BB

Yaya had visa issues .. we had a work permit turned down for him
he could come now as he is a regular for the ivory coastal surf team

  79. chris

It has since emerged that Arsenal made a €7m bid in January 2006 which was rejected as Olympiacos wanted to wait to the summer to consider selling.

  80. Odub

instead we’ve got his fellow country man, everyone’s favourite gooner, most people’s nomination for player of the season, ladies and gents I give you the one and only ever smiling……………..

    Emmanuel Eboue!!

  81. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

Odub, wow, didn’t know we had him on trial….that’s pretty sick, you’re probably right that we knocked him back back then but I know we were back in for him a season or so back…

BB….didn’t know about the permit issue either….shit we should’ve got him.

Then again didn’t we have permit issues with Cech? Ronaldinho? Robinho? Eto’o early doors? I’m sure Wenger said he tried to sign all of these boys at some point…in addition to Ronaldo, Kaka, Pato, Essien, Ramos etc etc etc etc….blah blah….bore bore.

  82. charybdis1966

Oi, what could yo upossibly mean Chris ?!

BTW – am completely peed off that Wenger is resting Euro 2008 players. WTF for ??

He should be busting a gut for 2nd place not taking the piss out of us long suffering fans.

  83. chris

Olympiakos decided to accept a mere €4.5m from French Ligue 1 side A.S. Monaco as a result of his refusal to return to Greece for the team’s pre-season training. Touré accused Olympiacos of not paying his due salaries, while Olympiacos accused him of lying in order to get transferred

  84. Odub

chaps it’s been fun, but the lads are heading for the pub, so… easy decision! Have a good one, and more of the same in the morning.

    Night all.

  85. chris

hey buddy i have been waiting for your arrival, only odub and i understand the joke!
he may rest a couple for derby but surely not against everton

  86. Finestcuts

Wenger said he’ll rest some players who will take part in the Euro, but I think he’ll keep Clichy and RVP

Maybe Nordveit might get a look in, or Jack Wilshere while we’re at it.
Alex Song looks like he’ll be in with a chance.
Eboue looks likely to be played.
Traore might get a look in at left wing, hopefully not Diaby. An all Brazillian midfield with Denilso and Gilberto in the middle?
    Theo on right wing?

Hopefully Ade and Bendtner won’t be paired together.

I think we’ll stick to the RVP/Ade combo, that’ll get us the goals, and allow the youth + Gilberto to play, and make Gilberto captain for the match.

  87. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

I think it will sadly be

    Fabianski

    Eboue Song Tone Traore

    Theo Bertie Denilson Diaby

    RVP Bendtner

Bench: Lehmann, Toure, Clichy, Cesc, Lansbury, Adebayor

  88. Paulinho

If we sold Ade I would hold my own open top bus parade. Wenger could bring in a striker who can conceivably play a one-two!

  89. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

Would anyone else just love to see the following line-up played against the likes on Derby??

    Lehmann

    Eboue Song Gallas Clichy

    Bertie

    Cesc
    Hleb
    RVP Theo

    Adebayor

Go and stick 10 past the nobodies…

  90. TH14's Sense of Arrogance

Obviously Hleb can’t play….but happily trade him for diaby and play cesc in the hole. Oh wait just seen it does come out properly…..should be a 4-1-1-1-3 with bertie holding, cesc in the attacking mid role, hleb in the hole and RVP LW, Theo RW and Ade up top. I’d love it.
