£100 million man to Arsenal! Who else could be arriving this summer?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

In the Times yesterday they talked about the shortcomings of Arsenal football club this season, the captaincy and of course, what might have been, they also talked about who was available that would make us a title winning team again, mostly I agree, but I’ve made a few additions, what do you think?

Zapata is a big centre back that does look good, I think we should think about this kid, Senderos is not the answer, he’ll never add pace to his game and his one customary howler per game has now become two, he has to go.

With the constant debate over strikers, we would do no worse than sign David Villa (He has a £100million buyout clause!), he would cost more than Benzema but looks the ticket already, Eduardo may never be the same and Bendtner may not make it, Robin is a liability so that leaves Ade and Theo, I believe every top side should have 4 top strikers to win the league and be able to compete for all trophies. David Villa says we are his choice as he loves our one touch passing game, the other option is Sergio Aguero who at 19 would be the right age for Wenger, but Villa is ready now, so a possibility.

Midfield, even if we keep Flamini I believe we need to add to our midfield, but we have enough young talent already plus the ressurgent Gilberto to cope, so add to those Diaby, Hleb, Cesc, Denilson and Song it should be enough, but we do need Wingers, I think two but I’d settle for one.

That one has to be an out and out winger, Robinho would be my choice but Ben Arfa would do me just fine as well. Rosicky won’t make it and if he does, he won’t last, so we shouldn’t put our eggs in his basket, he’s not a real winger anyway, another possibility is Wright Philips, Chelsea are having a clear out so he could go, he’s an Arsenal fan and he’s 200 times better than everyone’s favourite hate figure, Eboue. Another great option is Quaresma, I like him but I’m sure the big spenders already have him lined up.

We need a goalie, a world class goalie and Almunia isn’t it, Fabianski is way too young and Lehmann has done far too much slagging to be in this team, he also is prone to howlers so he needs to go. We should try for Buffon, perhaps now he’d come now he realises that Italian football is lagging.

Luka Modric looks too slight to me and if we have players like Lansbury and Wilshire in the production line we don’t need to spend huge sums on big time Charlies when we are adequately covered in that department. However if Diego came available he would be worth a gamble.

Which ever way you look at it we have to challenge for all the trophies this year, if we do, he needs to spend and this shopping list would go a long, long way towards it.

If he doesn’t want to seriously compete for four trophies next season, then he needs to tell the board they should rebate the season tickets holders for not even attempting to deliver what we pay for.

As I said yesterday, West Ham play pretty football and win nothing, but West Ham fans don’t expect to, so the West Ham board charge them accordingly, Arsenal fans on the other hand get charged more than any other fans in world football, that’s right, more than ANY OTHER FANS IN WORLD FOOTBALL.

So Arsenal, make your mind up, we’ll pay it if you deliver, you can”t have it both ways.

Finally, if you persist in stiffing us the fans and not spending money on players, you’ll switch young kids away from Arsenal and you’ll be open season for a takeover as the fans will begin to dislike you, so far you have the mob, but it won’t last.

Actually west ham play boring football. why is it that everybody says we need a keeper Almunia has been great this season he’s committed way less mistakes than any other top 4 goal keeper, i think that arsenal need one centre back an one right winger zapata and wright phillips anyone?

  2. midoco

A really good post, full of good knowledge and a positive attitude. Football is an entertainment industry which includes the non playing transfer window. Fans like it when big players are linked and signed, it’s exciting to hear about David Villa and Arsenal. A boost will be given to the club, players and fans if some signings arrive.

    Have a good day.

  3. Finestcuts

I wouldn’t mind David Villa, we’re probably only going to get one top class striker and if it’s him, he’ll do well at Arsenal, a very technically gifted player.

For every other position I expect we’ll promote from within. Arsene’s style of football suits the “top striker” philosophy, we were for a while called a one man team. Now we have the team element and no top out and out fully developed striker, that looks to be the key if we’re only going to buy for one position.

Next season I don’t expect to see Eboue on the right, and it’ll be interesting who leaves. Arsene himself fully appreciates how difficult it is to keep hold of players, which is why he’d rather have a few duds and keep the team together.

We have a lot of talent in our reserves and players coming back from loan look to be our solution for adding cover. We won’t have trouble attracting top strikers, David Villa has identified that we have a vacancy where a top striker doesn’t have to wait in line. With the service offered at Arsenal, it’s every top strikers dream.

We’re not converting our fair share of chances and creating more than our fair share., when that crucial problem is solved, we’ll be winning games on a regular basis.

  4. arse&nose

    good point about modric,
landsbury and wilshire look capable of taking that role in the next few years.

  5. Pedro

    Great post Geoff!

Well said regarding the season ticket prices. We expect to compete when we pay the most. Otherwise what are you paying for? A nice seat? Some nice one touch football?

David Villa would be a great signing, he is proven, young and would lift the whole squad.

I’d love to see Diego as well.

Fuck it, i’d love to see any signings!

It must be hard for the players to hear that after having a shite season, Arsene wont add. I would think if a new player can lift the fans, it would lift the squad?

I like Almunia though, he has done next to nothing wrong this year compared to many other keepers.

  6. Johnny Gooner

    WAT DO U THINK??

New keeper – Igor Akinfeev….Russias number 1, young and dominant…..£6M

Centre back/right back – Micah Richards – Strong, young, english……£18M

Winger – Carlos Vela returning from loan – pacey energetic left footer kind of in the theo mould……No transfer fee

Midfield enforcer – Loic Perrin sounds like a perfect Wenger purchase, french under 21 captain, strong and disciplined……£5M

New Striker – David Villa – perfect age, very technical, lots of pace and can finish…….£20M

    To go………..

    Lehmann – No transfer fee

    Hoyte – £3M

    Gilberto – No transfer fee

    Senderos – Switzerlands captain….£5M

    Bendtner – £6M

That would be £49M spent….with £14M coming in

    Total spent – £35M………….Not bad i think…..wat u think???

  7. Finestcuts

On the Bendtner issue, for a number four striker, he’s got us a pretty good return.

    14 starts, 22 substitutions, 7 goals.

    Plus his international goals.

There are clubs who have paid much more for their strikers who have delivered less and have a lower games to goals ratio.

  8. GunnerShabz

These players would be my ideal Arsenal Summer…

David Villa, Hatem Ben Arfa, Cristian Zapata, De Guzman

These players will win us the league and champions league, now this experienced player, does he mean a defensive one because thats the only experience we need

Bendtner, Senderos, Lehmann, need to go

  9. Pedro

Whats all this talk of De Guzman?

Can someone give me a low down of him?

I am so out the loop with Euro players…

  10. GunnerShabz

Diego, i think we lost him, real madrid will buy him

luka modric is good but again he similar to rosicky, hleb and fabregas we wont have space for him

we have to get rid of bendtner, senderos, lehmann, hoyte, eboue we can easily get £20m from them sales

am sure juventus will want to sign senderos

  11. GunnerShabz

Jonathon De Guzman, from feyenoord he is a right winger, quick and mobile and puts in loads of good crosses, cheaper version of SWP

  12. Big Raddy

Another fine post this morning. Something to think about while pretending to listen in class.

I think there is NO chance Ade will be sold. Should Villa come in, he will be our number one striker. Would RvP accept that ? I don’t think so. RvP’s injury record requires us to have another striker, so I would say the unthinkable – ship him out.

I can’t believe I wrote that – RvP is fantastic, but we need to be able to rely on a strike force. Bendtner, Ade, Theo and a recovered Dudu plus Villa would give us a strikeforce to reckon with

  13. Finestcuts

De Guzman is good, if Wenger stuck him straight in like he did with Sagna I reckon he’d cope.
We are in urgent need of a right winger. There are better than De Guzman out there, but he’d probably be relatively inexpensive and would instantly boost our squad. I have a feeling Carlos Vela is gong to be playing there.

  14. James

Yeah i read last season that Juventus wanted to sign Big Phil…I also read yesterday that Diego does’nt want to leave Bremen….he’d be expensive as well??

I would love to sign Villa, I watch him on Spanish football sometimes and he is really good he doesnt fuck around outside the box like Ade or Hleb, he looks quite greedy but a good greedy (like hitting it from outside the area alot)

I dont think people give Nikki enough credit, he works his bollocks of and is just unlucky, remeber how shit Ade was a season ago….

  15. Finestcuts

If we’re going to compare Ade and Bendtner’s first 12 months, Bendtner has already out done Ade…

  16. Finestcuts

Rosicky is in rehab at the moment……I’d keep him as backup as well when he gets back to normal, but for both Rosicky’s and RVP’s positions, we need a number 1 ahead of them.

  17. GunnerShabz

Ok if we sign david villa

    Ade, RVP, Bendtner, Walcott, Eduardo

we should loan Bendtner out to a big team and Walcott is best at the moment as a impact player

RVP he is injury prone at the moment, but imagine the holland formation

    Rvp Ade David Villa

fucking hell that would be unstoppbale

and for defenders, Lucio is availabe and he is experienced and he is a monstor of a defender

ezequiel Garay is simialr to lucio but a great free kick expert

chrisitan zapata is a pacy defender and strong simialr to lilian thuram

Jonahthon De Guzman is a direct type of player like eboue but much better end product

  18. Pedro

James, they always say they don’t want to leave! I reckon he’d love a move over… his game suits the Arsenal.

Big Phil to Juve for £14million, what a deal! haha! Am I dreaming again?

Steve, is the site working ok for you?

So Guzman is a winger? We didn’t do to badly last time we raided Feyenoord. Does he score goals though?

I think key to the summer signings is not thinking about whether or not you are taking someone’s spot. Rosicky and RvP are not reliable enough to worry about putting someone world class in their place.

    Competition is good…

  19. Big Raddy

True FC, but RvP is too good and too ambitious to accept being a sub-striker. Plus we could finance the deal with him out. This is only a suggestion. I could see RvP becoming a great player somewhere else, but if wereally were to sign Villa somone has to go and who should it be?

Bendtner (despite what I read on the site) is going to be superb. Only 19, an established International (OK, it is only Denmark – but they beat England 4-0 last year).

    Theo? ….. no way

Ade ? 26 goals and counting. Plus he is injury free.

    Dudu? … . why?

  20. GunnerShabz

Olympique Lyon are battling to hang onto starlet Clement Grenier.
The France U17 international has Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid all chasing him and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said: “This man will be a big star and Lyon are keen to profit from his abilities.”

this kids name is coming up everywhere, real madrid, juventus, milan are all interested him..

wenger sign him i dont mind but BUT we want world class signings

Lucio, David Villa are both “super super class players”

  21. armchair fan

I can’t believe it!!! Villa, arguably the most sought-after striker still available has openly come out and said that his club are willing to sell him and he wants to come to arsenal!! Any manager would be foolish not to make a bid instantly, but there’s our problem…..

  22. ethan_gunner

    Well done geoff !
good to hear some positive steps to take in redeeming the clubs stature as a world class club , good to hear one of my preferred strikers make his feelings known ..
Lets just hope arsene opens his wallet up and grabs him .. He could very well be the striker needed to take us forward.. In fact ill go as far as saying HE IS the one we need !

  23. Bren

    Buys

    David Villa
    Boruc from Celtic
    Nesta from Milan
Swop Senderos for Dunne at Man City
    Wright-Phillips if available

    Sells

    Eboue
    Bendtner
    Rosicky

    Captain: Cesc Fabregas

New year – 2 trophies at least

I agree that at present the board & AW have the vast majority of fans on their side at present. That will change come next August if there are not substantial purchases made.

We need top class talent at centre half and centre forward.

Without this talent, we will fail again to push on.

  24. Finestcuts

Gunnershabz, Wenger doesn’t play Dutch style attacking football.

If we’re gonna have 3 up front.

    Almunia

    Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy
    Fabregas, Flamini, Hleb
    RVP, Huntelaar, Villa

Bench: Fabianski, Adebayor, Rosicky, Walcott, Senderos

  25. Big Raddy

But this is daft…. we all know Wenger won’t sign Villa. It will be some 21 y.o from Somalia. Experienced in the French second div.

  26. Finestcuts

Midovco, the whole point is….we need to replace our first striker. Ade is not a first striker, even in a 4-3-3 He would not be most suited to the central role.

Ade is best in a 4-4-2 playing second fiddle to a top class number 1.

  27. Geoff

Let’s hope he’s reading this and reading the comments eh! for Villa to come out and say that, Wenger’s ego will be stroked and I bet Cesc will have a quiet word too, exciting times ahead?

  28. JD

Wenger you have the money, yo can buy Villa for around 20 mil easily he will definatly be worth it. if you try and give your excuse of no top quality stars being available to you again then i will go mad. please fuking buy him he is better then Torres all day long.

  29. Frichie

Wengers experience player will be the freakin freak Gomes Keeper, i wouldnt mind a 6ft5 giant in our goal, that way AW wouldnt have to worry about his little CB’s.

Bendtner has done brilliantly, maybe there is an issue within the team, but if he got some of the service Ade gets in a game he would score more. His link up play is far better than Ade. I think Wenger should take it as a given that he will only get 10-20 games a season from RvP and Rosicky…hopefully i am wrong but those two definitely need replacements/reinforcements, Villa and Ben Arfa for me, both quality.

If Senderos does go, and that a big IF, because we know AW rates him, but if he does go, I suspect Djerou will become 3rd choice, so any CB will be not the quality and experienced CB we all waiting for. Dammit!

Jonathan de Guzmán (b. September 12, 1987, Toronto, Canada) is a Canadian-born Dutch midfielder playing for Feyenoord
At Feyenoord, he quickly turned out to have a great potential and was regarded as one of the greatest talents in the club. He was not allowed to play for the first team before he was 18 years old, but at his birthday, he had his debut against SC Heerenveen. After that, he became a key player quite quickly. Jonathan scored his first professional goal in the 9th minute against Willem II on September 30, 2005.

He recently signed a contract extension with Feyenoord until 2010. His old contract was set to expire in 2008.

    Raddy -

Don’t disagree re RvP but I think we need to give him one more season and see how the injuries go. Same with Rosicklynote – if they can both recover and do a job then great; if not, they need to go!

Villa, RvP and Dudu as a strike force – cracking; they’d do the job. I don’t see they would have a problem —- anyways; according to most ade is the no1 striker – great then maybe he’d fuck off!!!

  32. JD

oh yeah sign up flamini and make him captain he is everywhere on the pitch he is a born leader you can see it in him

  33. midoco

I personally Ade is suited to the first striker, he’s a big man who can lay off balls to the two forwards following up. Drogba is great at playing up the top of a front three, Ade should and could be exactly like that, Drogba’s first couple of seasons weren’t that good. Ade has it in him to be better for the club.

  34. GunnerShabz

ok these are the super super class players available this summer

david villa, lucio, robinho, ronaldinho, deco, aquillani, rafael marquez, diego

    what do u guys think

  35. gazzap

Ade can only play in the team on his own up front. Ade cannot play alongside any other striker. he gets in their way. he dominates the whole striker area but when it comes to finishing chances he lets us down. Ade would smother Villa. he cannot form a partnership. Bendtner can. Nik will work with another striker even if he doesn’t get on with them.
its a tricky situation. RVP’s injury proneness is my biggest worry. if I was to buy Villa, I would probably sell RVP purely because you cant have 6 stirkers. but it will all depend on how much Villa costs and how much you’d get for RVP. If you could get something like £12m for RVP then fine.

  36. Pedro

I’ll tell you why T-Buzz… you said a banned word on Le Grove and it got spammed!

    Never say the R word… never…

  37. charybdis1966

But what about the 100 mill buyout clause for Villa – is that payable up front ? If it is can we see Arsne putting all his psending into one person ?

  38. midoco

There’s a real potential that RVP will be a great player, we should show faith in him through his injuries for a while more because of that. Rosicky hasn’t shown much of what he can do so I think he’s the one who should go.

  39. Pedro

I think the Clause was in place when Valencia were contenders… I think they’d take anything for him now, they are having a big clear out in the summer. Loads of the big names are off!

I like Joaquin as well… he has gone a bit off the boil recently though?

  40. GunnerShabz

the buy out clause is nothing, its a spanish thing, everyone has it on there contract. its just there for clubs to get scared

ronaldinho is got a £120m buyout clause, do u think MILAN are going to pay that no way.

when a spanish club wants to sell then they put a price tag on him

  41. Plastic Mac

    For fooks sake!

Can we keep a squad together for more than 5 minutes please?

We need to ADD to the squad, not decimate it.

  42. Rico

RVP will not be sold – the boss rates him too highly, he and villa would be awesome
Ade/Bendtner as back up – if Dudu makes full recovery, it will take time for him to get to the top again, and will be used as sub for three months

I would love to see Villa in our club – what a difference he would make
Oh – and a couple of BIG defenders

  43. charybdis1966

I see Pedro – it should be a good start to the transfer round if he came – and it sounds like a “come and get me plea” puts us in pole position toget him.

Villa plus a world class centre back and left winger (to replace Rosicknote) would give us weary goons a lift we badly need.

  44. GMR

Valencia will sell a couple of players this summer to balance the books. They aren’t a rich club & when they don’t make europe (which they won’t unless they go through the intertoto) then they always sell players. Villa I’m sure will be allowed to leave for around 20-23 million.

I would love Wenger to sign him but it won’t happen. Other top teams want him & regardless of us being his first choice, teams like Chelski would outbid us & that would mean Valencia not accepting our offer. Although he said he wanted to join Arsenal he did also say that he would seriously look at any offer from England so its not like he’ll turn every other premier league team down!!

  45. GunnerShabz

he did say he wants to try himself out in england

    valencia we can raid them

david villa, vicente, joaquin and raul abdiol the defender

thats it we done for a few seaons

  46. GunnerShabz

oh i forgot about the brillant david silva

david villa, vicente, silva and joaquin

oh my they would make a big difference to our attackign line up

  47. Pedro

I was thinking about whether we ever sign ‘Come and get me’ players…

    Sagna
    Diaby
    Theo
    Flamini

There are a few in there… does Arsene have the guts to splash the cash!

It would be amazing and it would kick start the summer!

    PROVEN QUALITY!

  48. Plastic Mac

Ben Arfa wouold be a top signing. Plus I would love it, if BobbyP came back for a 1 season swan song. We couldve done with him while Rosicky has been out!

  49. GunnerShabz

i dont think central midfield should be touched unless flamini and gilberto both go.

we got diaby, fabregas, song, denilson, hleb and rosicky

we need width hence we got atheltic wing backs in sagna and clichy.

carlos vela if he does come, there is a possiblity he may stay in spain for another season.

  50. Matt K

Would Love to see Villa with us next year, I’m just waiting for Wenger to come out though and say we aren’t interested! Is it me or does the Prof only come out with dissapointing answers!

With Vela, and Villa i think our attacking aspect to our game would rival the best in history.

Then with one WORLD CLASS centre back to partner Toure or Gallas (which ever one decides to show some form) then the title would be ours.

I think Almunia has been solid as a rock all season, be harsh to drop him, though maybe a world class keeper may have won us a few more points with unbelievable saves? Akinfeev on Football manager comes good next year ;)

  51. nr790

why is everybody against bentner hes only 20 and has scored 7 goals from 14 starts and 20 something sub apperances thats preetty good for a backup player

  52. Mike (the neighbour)

Very good post geoff -I also think RVP must be given another season he looks a shadow of his former self but hey ho everything goes in cycles -he will have his day in the sun again

  53. Plastic Mac

I always thought Eto’o would be the 1 top notch striker we should go for, especially when Cesc started tapping him up in the media! But Villa would be top notch too.

If I hear Arsene come out and say, “Well, yes he is a super player and we could have signed him for a tenner but, what does that mean for Gilles Sunu?”

    I will mess my pants!

  54. GunnerShabz

if we do trying to sign world class players it has to be before euro 2008, the value will go up if they perform

  55. t-buzz

Thanks for the youtube clip on De Guzman, ethan_gunner!! Iam liking his style of play and he looks very confident too, taking his chances and that freekick towards the end was spot-on. Only problem is Wenger would rather choose that can pass the ball 50times until they get in the box to score!

Bendtner unfortunately doesnt do it for me as he’s too slow on the ball and defenders already know what he’s going to do before he even thinks it! I really hope eduardo recovers cos remembering the Man City vArsenal game, he and Ade were superb.

  56. abent arsenal

first I think we have to perchese one defender
and rip Galas’s capitancy and give it to fabrigas
    and
    David villa
    Ben arfa
    Zapata
and that Florotina man who play in midfil cover up for Falmini
and bring barzit from the reserves to the first team

  57. GMR

Well no signings will happen before June thats for sure. Then Wenger will be away commentating on the Euro’s for French TV, so it’ll be July before you hear any noises from Wenger re the one signing!!

He may bring in a couple of kids before that but I have a feeling we’re all in for a very long & very boring summer, once again watching all the real world talent getting snapped up by the other clubs around us!!

  58. Odub

    Morning chaps,

    Top post Geoff.

So we’re speculating re buys for next season?

    How about

    Gomez PSV /Buffon
    Wheater Middlesborough /Nesta
    De Guzman/Ashley Young or Robinho
Villa Valencia/Daniel Guiza Mallorca (would rather have a fit RVP)

    Out
    Lehmann
    Senderos
    Eboue
    Gilberto
    Hleb(?)

We can win the CL next season as long as we avoid any blinking English teams en route to the final and Le Boss tries to win the group this time.

The league – as long as we plan that the likes of Cesc,Sagna,Gallas,Flamini,RVP (Euros) wont be available until maybe September we’ll be fine. For them we’ll have enough cover with the likes of Denilson, Diaby, Djourou, Theo, Merida, Barazite, Gilbert,Gibbs.

  59. Roy Baggio

Great post, just been reading all the posts and at least we have a good summer to look forward too, hopefully if we go out and get a potential big nam…although that’s never always the answer look at Shevva & Ballack at Chelsea, hardly set the prem league alight?

I like the idea of the following additions provided that the following is true about these guys leaving

    Hleb – to inter
    Senderos – Juve
    Flamini – Inter
    Gilberto – Bayern
    Eboue – Inter
    Lehmann – Bundasliga

Modric – his link up play with Eduardo was great for the both D.Zagreb and Croatia, he is slight but strong, as proved when Gerrard try to smash him up at wembley.

Mauro Zarate – already established in the Prem league with Birmingham, very similar to Tevez, great dribbler, good feet and can hit a ball, and would only cost about £3m

Micah Richards – even to muscle out Gallas or Toure, he needs to partner with a good centre back as he has pace, aggression, and can header from set pieces

Yohann Gourfran – goalscoring midfielder, U21 french star he is good, and being french would fit it perfectly.

    Plus we have

    Lansbury
    Randall
    Gibbs
    Nordveit
    Carlos Vela

    All coming back next year.

    Keep the faith guys

  60. FrenchyDavy

Excellent post indeed, and good fun to imagine top p;ayers coming to the Emirates. One thing is for sure – Villa is a class forward who knows where the goal is. We could do with a player like him, and if he wants to come then what is to stop us??

It would be fantastic to see Aguero here too. He’s a superstar in the making, kind of like Man U’s Anderson but plays further forward and is an excellent finisher.

Left wing, yeh we could wait for Vela to come in but it’s a lot to ask for a young guy in his first season. If Hleb goes then we would surely want to add a new name and Robinho would fit in really well if only he wanted to come. Maybe RVP as a winger?

How good is this Christian Zapata? I haven’t seen him but I know I’ve never been that convinced by either Micah Richards or Lucio.

And how great would it be to have a top-class goalie again?

  61. Bubble

Well written article reflecting the growing feeling among some fans like me who have been going for more years than they care to remember. The last time I felt like I didn’t care about our club, was when we had Terry Neill manager in the early 80′s. Even when things went sour under George Graham in the mid 90′s I still had a passion for our club, unlike today. The reason? We have been sold a pup.

We’re a big 4 Premierhip club, whatever that’s supposed to mean but we behave like a Championship side. Our major stars all retired or were sold in the last 3 years and what we have in their place is the Tesco’s value version. Yes they pretty football, outpass teams, hold onto the ball longer than anyone else but they don’t finish teams off when it matters.

Granted, there are players like Sagna, Clichy, Toure, Fabregas, Flamini who have pride and battle. The rest I’m afraid are just not up to it, some are only good for the bench while others need to be developed further before they can be considered as top notch.

Gallas as captain is a failure and has become an average defender. He is also mostly to blame for the poor run of results with his strops and with his bad defending being reponsilble for our defeats at Chelsea & United the other day. I feel sorry for Senderos but he’s had a few years to step up and hasn’t done it. We need a big mobile in yer face kind of defender.

Adebayor give him the ball and he will pass it back or slow down the game. His first touch is woeful and funny he should be talking about killer instincts because he has none. Yeah he scored 25 goals this year but he’s failed to score 225 times. The United match being the perfect example, missing sitter after sitter and finally putting it in with his hand. His beef with Bendtner has also cost us, when he failed to pass it to him at Birmingham we ended up dropping two points and those 2 players will never click.

Hleb for all his skill and trickery, doesn’t score or shoot enough, his passing is suspect, runs into blind alleys and has to beat his man 3 times before laying it off.

Eboue as a right winger will never work. Perhaps if we are winning 1-0 with 5 minutes to go and you replace your proper winger with him to strengthen the defence, maybe but as a first team player no. The above two players are also the reason we dont get behind defences anymore or score enough from the wings. For the last 20 years we have always had a goalscoring winger, Hayes, Marwood, Rocastle, Merson, Overmars, Pires, Ljunberg to name a few. This season Hleb has scored 4, the last being in November while Eboue has a big fat zero.

This side needs a bit of surgery, Wenger needs to show a ruthless streak and rid the side of its failures. In certain positions we can do better and as a season ticket holder I’m not going to pay over a grand to watch us draw at home to Birmingham, Villa & Boro. This season we have kept 12 clean sheets, we used to do that before Christmas a few years back and now we concede too many early goals and have to fight to get a draw.

    Rant over. Peace.

  62. Shank Barki

There is no way Villa is coming to Emirates..Torres had said the same thng abt us 2 years back..look where he is now and what he is doing there…Villa will do the same thing..sign for Madrid or Barca and we will be blaming Adeb all along the season…Wenger is a miser and will spend not more than 20 million and again we will be nowhere come next season…As far as Senderos fetching 5 million, that happens only in FIFA MANAGER 2008…

  63. dil

breaking news guys.. we are not signing any big money players and we dont need to..we need two or three quality pleayers doesnt matter how much they cost..
wer linked wit gomes and i think hes one of the best keeprs ..lets wait aand c what happens in the window..

  64. Finestcuts

Why are we talking about Eduardo as if he’ll have a part to play next season? He won’t be able to run until Christmas, and half the season will be over by then. Not only that, he needs games in the reserves so we can assess what his progress is…..it’ll be very much like Diaby’s rehab.

So we need 6 strikers at the moment, Eduardo will not be ready for first team action until August 2009.

Villa won’t cost anywhere near 100 mil. They’ll get a valuation done on him, and that’ll be the price, that was just there to prevent him from jumping ship too early. Valencia know they can’t keep their star man without European football. Maybe Wenger can do a part exchange, like chuck in Eboue or Justin Hoyte, there won’t be many names Valencia can pull this summer who have Champions League experience.

  65. Geoff

Yeah make you right, Eboue, Hoyte and £99 million! kidding, I think we could get him for £20 or less if we can part ex.

He needs to be talking to them now though or the Chavs will have him.

  66. Stupid

who was it raving about young jack wilshere the other day?

fuck me, you were not wrong, you were actually not raving about that performance enough, just seen the game on sky +

WOW, WOW, WOW, best talent since liam brady, without a doubt this kd is going to make it, far far far far toooooo talented not to.

    my god, unreal talent.

  67. Just Stick It In !

    good piece of writing, guys!

however, i will wait on who is really coming in during the summer and reserve my comments till then.

forgive me for my negativity as for the last 2 seasons i’ve had so much hope for the team to do well … so close yet so far this year!

    up the gooners!

  68. Stupid

the player wenger mentioned who at 15 was laready techincally go enough to play for the first team was defo wilshere.

    100%

  69. ed matthews

signings that would change Arsenals fortunes

1 – Jussi Jaskalianen ( his transfer fee wouldn’t break the bank)

2 – Diego Capel or Robinho

3 – David Villa / Karim Benzema/ Claus Jan Huntelaar (one of the three, although my 1st choice would be David Villa)

    4 – Micah Richards/ Christian Zapata (Udinese/Colombia) Age 21

Zapata is big, athletic and quick. He has been a starter at a top-eight Serie A side since the age of 18. He is also versatile and apparently very humble and will give Wenger a whole host of defensive solutions if he wants to mix and match his back four.

Micah Richards is 21yrs and can play in defence or in central midfield, and can also double-up as a right back who is useful for a goal threat at set-pieces.

Jussi Jaskalianen has been a very consistently good goal-keeper in the EPl for many years, and we make a great signing for Arsenal, as well as provide competiion for places for the Arsenal stoppers.

I prefer david Villa for the simple fact that he is ready made and will fill a big void.

As for the left-sided midfield role, my choice will be Robinho as he can contribute more goals and assists than Capel, something that has been distinctively lacking at the Arsenal this season. We were at our best when Pires and Freddy were contributing between 12 and 15 goals each season.

If Arsene signs the players named above, Arsenal will go on and win all four trophies for the first time ever.

  70. Tomik

I think the folling signings can help arsenal win the CL, EPL, and the FA cup:

Cover for Clichy(G. Bale, J. Lescot, F. Clerc, or Dragotinovic)

cover for Flamini(F. Gago, J. Tulelon, or M. Siena)

cover for Fabrigas( Diego, S. Nasri, or P. Feindulo)

    #1 striker: D. Villa, K Hunterlaas, K. benzema, or L. Fabiano)

left winger: Robinho, ben arfa, quaresma, Abo terika, or D. capel

right winger: SWP, De guzman, quaresma or k. keita

two tall and strong defenders: M. richard, and Lucio or Woodgate and Zapata

the major problem is that our squard is too thin. some of the other reserve players are
too young and not ready yet. other players are always injure, thus leaving the burden on the few fit players. as a result, they got tired and overran in the second half of the league this season. the choice for strike force is made of proven goal scorers.

flamin and fabrigas need cover up as well as clichy.
gallas and toure partnership does not work because they are too similar in height and stature. they are easily bullied by big size strikers and big phil is not the answer.

we need left winger that can score; the one with the best goal scoring record is arbo terika of eygpt. the rest are all young and good players.

some time fab looks tired; thats when AW needs to replace him with any of the options Nasri is creative, Diego is a magician, feindulo is special with the free kick that won us at old traford. if we sign one player from each option we will win tree trophies.

  71. Finestcuts

I’d actually get Villa and Huntelaar and loan Bendtner to Ajax.

    Villa, Huntelaar, RVP, Adebayor, Walcott

We’d have the best strike force in the PL and the CL.

Get 2 wingers, Smolarek and De Guzman

If we bought those four, we would be sorted and maybe a rock solid centre half (I’d buy an English player but Wenger won’t…) and we would be sorted.

4-3-3, a very successful attacking system which would suit our players. Wenger should rotate formations to suit his best available. We should be able to play the following formations.

    4-4-2
    4-5-1
    4-4-1-1
    4-1-4-1
    4-3-1-2
    4-3-2-1
    3-5-2

One of our problems at the moment could be that we’ve been found out by some teams because they know what to expect of us. By varying formations, we could improve our tactical approach, and we’d never hear of being down to the bare bones, we’d always have a formation to play because of our flexibility. We should be a team who can play in ANY formation.

3-5-2 is a German formation which is highly effective when used properly. The idea is to clog up the defence completely and keep feeding it through to the two strikers up front. You need a very technically skilled team to pull it off correctly, and we have that. Using our best available 11 (regardless of current injury status)we could go for:

    Almunia
    Sagna, Toure, Clichy
    Rosicky, Fabergas, Flamini, Gilberto, Hleb
    RVP, Eduardo

    4-4-2 is only one way…..

  72. Pedro

How sad is it that I am really excited about the prospect of signing someone like Villa?

Its nice to have big names talking about you, regardless of whether Arsenal would sign him!

I reckon it could be a busy summer.

Who reckons Hleb is going? Not enough assists, not enough goals… but I will give him an award for the best dribbler… and his agent and award for the biggestcunt/worst excuse maker.

    Would you ditch Rosicky?

Don’t even say you’d get rid of Eboue… because he is a ‘favourite’.

  73. Nick

Very happy to hear this news after all the bull shit about Arsenal and AW for a couple of weeks. I hope we can sign David Villa and Silva too.

  74. Finestcuts

Nope, keep Rosicky and bring someone else in for him, get them to compete for places. Get someone beeter than Rosicky and keep Rosicky for when necessary.

If Hleb goes, we can replace him with someone better, even Flamini, we can get players that do those jobs and score + assist more.

  75. Finestcuts

We can’t go back to the times when we thought that if Henry left, we’d suddenly turn into Newcastle united.

If anyone leaves, we’ll get on with it and still be fighting for titles and cups.

Hopefully Wenger will keep the best players we have, and if the leave, replace them with someone superior.

  76. Smudger

I genuinely believe we should be looking to auction Hleb to the highest bidder if the named clubs are indeed interested (although that’s according to his agent, so maybe not). Hleb offers very little goal threat. His best position is advanced midfield, but that’s a role Rosicky can play just as well (and offer more of a goal threat). I wouldn’t be too disappointed if Hleb went for £15m and we replaced him with a genuine winger that can score goals. We’ve really missed the goals of a Pires or Ljungberg recently

  77. ethan_gunner

    pedro

if you read the whole interview he also states he’d love to play along side torres also!
meaning liverpool ! so as much as id love him to join us , purse strings wenger
must come to the party QUICKLY , but it seems like he wants to come to a top 4 club in the EPL regardless..
i spose that gives us a 25 % chance even by default ..

  78. BB

dont think Wenger is in the market for a striker .. he is looking at a central defender as he clearly feels that he has been let down by his current players, ie Gallas/Toure/Senderos
the fact that he mentioned Ben Arfa means that he is looking for an option on the left
Ben Arfa received raving comments again when he played against Marseille, the president of Marseille even saying that he would give anything to sign him
Wenger is currently happy with Ade/RVP/Theo/Bendtner and will use Hleb as a second striker/midfield man when he plays 4-5-1, so no chance there
Rosicki might leave, but I doubt so as his injuries would make any move difficult and also would not genearte any decent revenue
should Hleb leave, which is a possibility, then Wenger will definitely strengthen his forward options and then a Villa type player is likely
there is a good chance that Eboue will be sold and that the club will keep Hoyte as cover for RB..a mistake, but Hoyte’s loyalty and family connections play an important part in this
Gilberto will be sold and Flamini is likely to leave..expect only one replacement in this case..either Loic Perrin from St-Etienne or another strong holding midfield player..no African though as Wenger is less and less impressed with them leaving for the ANC and again this season he could witness the drop in form in Kolo in particular..Eboue is shiit anyway
Wenger will definitely look at a CB as he believes that Kolo/Gallas is not a solution in the league and will guarantee neither of them automatic starts in the future
his main concern is to keep Cesc at the club and he faces an uphill battle, especially if either Hleb or Flam or worse both were to leave
Wenger will take full responsibility for results next season and in case of a trophy less season, will resign from the club as he feels that the money is now there to secure the future whoever comes in..
the ideal scenario at Arsenal is to continue with him until DB10 becomes involved with the club again..either as a head coach or with somebody else

  79. Paulinho

Wilshire seriously is the bees knees. What is so refreshing about him is that he a tricky schemer in the mould of Alex Hleb. I can’t get enough of those players. And like Alex, he was frustrated the other night by players not being on his wavelength.

Hopefully he grows a bit over the summer, and he and Hleb will love playing with eachother.

Wilshire is a genuine superstar. They’re are fairly mediocre talents like Denilson and there are ones that really get you excited. This guy has already got me looking forward to next season.

  80. Goonster

If there was one player I want to see at the Emirates, it would have to be Kaka.
Yeah I know wishful thinking. But AW has said he would like to see him playing with Cesc, and Kaka has said he would like to play for AW.

  81. Pedro

I do get the impression Villa could say he would join us for £40 a week, Valencia could waive the fee and we’d still say we couldn’t afford him…

Its the Arsenal way… make out you are skint!

I just read somewhere else people saying they reckon Senderos is a special talent!

    BLINKERED VISION ALERT!

That is Arsene knows on a whole new level.

I’ve always stuck up for him, but he is not a special talent especially when you compare him to younger players who are doing a better job!

I think some people like to be seen as having ‘Arsene Vision’.

You know the guy who sits there and tells you that Eboue will be world class…

No basis for the comment, but it means if he does become good, they can remind you of what a football visionary they are!

  82. Finestcuts

Senderos is not rubbish, he’s not the finished article, thus he still suffers from occasional poor performance. We can iron that out, he’s had some excellent games in an Arsenal shirt.

  83. gazzap

shame Wilshere is only 16. he will need another year in the reserves before anything occurs with the first team even CC.
why would wenger sell our only decent wide midfielder? the only wide midfielder who spends more time on the pitch than in the treatment room and a player that never goes missing even in those dank northern games. Hleb is a master of creating goals and we need him here next season.
If you sell Hleb, youd’ have to replace him, Rosicky and Eboue in the same summer. no chance.

  84. Finestcuts

Playing a five man defence with Eboue is also not a good idea, an attacking player should be playing there.

Eboue is a RB and should only play RB for Arsenal. Eboue could be used more effectively as cover for Sagna, so it’s little wonder the dude isn’t a goal scorer, he’s a defender.

  85. gazzap

senderos does not have the ability that Adams had in his little finger. people always go on about how Adams was called donkey, well not by me. I loved Big TA from the first time he played for us and hated the donkey comments. I always rated Tony but I dont rate Big Phil. sorry if that offends some of you.
its a bit like calling John Terry donkey when he had that habit of scoring own goals – i mean you could still see he was a top defender despite the odd high profile howler. Terry and Adams are alike but Adams and Senderos are not.

  86. Finestcuts

Wenger should either use Eboue as RB cover for Sagna or sell him, simple as.

Eboue was good enough to dislodge Lauren and play in the team which got us to the CL final, why has a player which showed excellence before deteriorated so much? If he just had a lucky year, lets sell ASAP, otherwise train him back to the CL final player…..and no more 5 man defences, they don’t work.

  87. Pedro

He’s not rubbish, but he is not a top level defender is he? Watching the player instead of the ball against liverpool… tut tut. What about his customary lapse of concentration every game?

John Terry was never as bad as Senderos. Its not good enough that Arsenal have to put up with a defender who is error prone. That is why we ditched Eboue at right back, he was good most of the time, but his lapses cost us points.

I am not saying sell Hleb, I am just asking whether you’d be bothered? He is not a wider player Gazzap, he is a central midfielder who has been pushed out wide…

How many goals did Hleb create this year? 7 by my reckoning… versus 17 by Cesc. How many goals? 2 (All prem stats).

Who has more assists than Hleb this year?

    Petrov
    Elano
    Simon Davies!
    Nicky Shorey
    Kalou
    Carlton Cole
    Kenwyne Jones
    Bentley

So if that is our best option out wide… I think we should reconsider.

  88. Paulinho

I always find these Hleb critics say the same thing. Not enough asssists and not enough goals. He is essentially an ineffective player. For me those statements show a certain lack of footballing knowlege and trivialise the importance of possession in a game, especially in our game.

As Paul Merson once said, as an attacking midfielder your only as good as the striker in front of you. How true is that when you have a somone like Adebayor ahead of you. Last Wednesday his great forty yard throughball was wasted by Adebayor, from five yards out, and at Old Trafford his potential assist was wasted by Ade. If those goals would have gone in that would have been 15 assists for the season, which is pretty good.

Anyway, because Hleb hasn’t got a massive ego and only thinks about the team, he does alot of magic deep in midfield. If you look at that chance that Eboue slashed into the sidenetting at Anfield, that all came from Hleb dropping deep and slipping the ball through to Fabregas. Up until that point, Arsenal couldn’t get into their final third in that second half.

Another thing is hleb makes Fabregas play so much better. Both of them see the game the same way. If Hleb leaves, I wouldn’t want to know Fabregas’s reaction. He would be pissed.

  89. Geoff

When you look at Micah Richards, you see talent, Senderos who’s 3 years older has none. Time to go, he won’t get better.

Hleb I would keep, I think he makes things happen and he always chases it if he loses the ball.

Where is everyone seeing Wilshire, what’s he on?

  90. Paulinho

Wilshire was on Arse TV. The guy is brilliant. Of course, you have to be wary of anything that concludes with Traore being man of match- just kidding- but he a little genius. He is built a bit like Diego Maradona.

I’m usually very hard to please when it comes to youngsters but this one is going to be superstar. Nick Banfield said before the game he is special and Sam Wallace, a journalist on was on football forum, also said he is being talked about in ‘hushed tones’ around the Emirates.

  91. Trinidad_Gunner

We need to double riad Valencia for Joaquin and Villa.
Valencia will most likely buy Van Der Vaart in the summer.

Why can’t it be Villa & RVP
And Ade to come off the bench?

We won’t, and shouldn’t sell RVP

  92. Pedro

Paulinho… most critics would point to the fact that Ade has scored 26 goals this season. That is a good striker by most standards.

    Cesc has 17 assists…

I like watching Hleb on the ball, he holds up play well and he does create things but statistics don’t lie do they? He is paid to create goals and score them. Everyone points to the fact that our lack of goals from Midfield have cost us… so something is clearly wrong?

I don’t think asking questions of players shows a lack of knowledge, I watch him every week. He does some great things, but players stand off him because they know he poses no goal threat.

Give me a Pires/Overmars over Hleb any day of the week. He is not a wide midfielder, so lets get someone in who is.

  93. Trinidad_Gunner

It’s funny how things go … alot of people were praising Senderos after Milan and calling for him to temporarily replace Toure at CB … it happened, and it didn’t work.
Now people want him out and forgot that they wanted him there.

  94. Pedro

People were calling for that because Toure had a shocker against the Mancs and was not playing particularly well.

    The lesser of two evils.

  95. Paulinho

I agree people have different tastes, and apologise for insuating ignorance on your behalf, but until Hleb is in a midfield that doesn’t consist of players like Eboue and Diaby then we have to reserve judgement I feel.

Having Hleb in the team could work if we had a real ballsy type goal-scorer in Eboue’s place. If we had someone like that, we would see the real value of Hleb.

I still think Adebayor’s presence doesn’t help players like Hleb who like to play technical football in tight areas. Our football only looks tedious and aimless because someone like Ade doesn’t have the patience or vision to know when to cut it short and make a penetrative move.

If we look at the one moment when Hleb burst into the box- versus Fulham on the opening day- who wasn’t hogging the space for him to run into? Emmanuel Adebayor, Because he wasn’t playing.

  96. Pedro

Who knows? He has looked out of sorts hasn’t he?

I was talking to Geoff earlier… its not like he hasn’t been a rock before? Remember when he was arguably the better defender than Sol during the invincible’s run?

  97. Gooner from Pakistan

Gr8 post again guys. That’s why I love this blog so much. Criticise in a positive way with some good knowledge. I haven’t seen Zapata much. Talking about a big CB how about Mertesacker. He plays for Bremen. And in my opinion no one would be able to challenge him in the air b’cos he’s a Hagrid kind of thing. We want a potent striker too. It could be among Villa, Benzema, Kun Aguero but knowing Arsene he won’t go for the big money guy. Any other Eduardo hidden. I would love SWP in Arsenal as he’s lightning, a proper winger although he can’t cross, but the biggest advantage of having him is that he’ll not only play for Arsenal but love it too. I always said 2 wingers are critical and the other one could be Hatem Bin Arfa or Robinho. I’ll take Robinho though.

  98. Geoff

Good point Gooner from Pakistan, SWP would be good too, don’t worry about the crosses, no one else can cross either!

    Glad you’re enjoying the blog.

  99. Pedro

Paulinho, I am only playing devils advocate… I wrote this a few months back

    LINK

Hleb will work well with Eddie… he feeds the ball into tight situations and needs someone with tight footwork to finish off his chances.

    Good shout Geoff.

Gooner from Pakistan, good shout with Mertesacker… he is massive, 6ft8 I heard?

  100. Trinidad_Gunner

Maybe Toure wanted to be Captain ahead of Gallas. They haven’t been a good pair. He should’ve been anyway. No chance now, I think when Wenger changes the captaincy it is either for Flamini or Fabregas.

  101. Odub

Gallas should never have been made captain. End of. Gilberto never quite recovered from that shock, Toure had captained the team numerous times last season, Gallas never got a look in, so why the hell did he get it?!

If what Lee Dixon mentioned over the weekend was true about the dressing room losing all respect for gallas after the brum game, I think he should be decaptained next season!!! Good word…I know!

  102. ScubaGooner

Regardless Odub – he should be DECAPTAINED!!! Great word :-)

If we’re lucky; he’ll be sold as well!

  103. Trinidad_Gunner

After those comments from Villa, it would be ridiculous not to sign him.

Is it all about Wenger though? He is not running the club.

  104. Pedro

I thought Gallas suited the captaincy, but there is no denying Gilberto had an amazing season last year… there is also no doubt that Gilberto wouldn’t have walked halfway across the pitch over a penalty.

The problem is… if you give Bertie the captain, you lose the dynamic wonder that is Flamini.

I think a lot of our form this year has been down to him.

  105. Trinidad_Gunner

Someone mentioned Drenthe … he is a Wenger signing (young) but that would have been last year. I don’t think he would buy him from Real.
Looks like Edgar Davids, strong, and can play in defence or on the wing, and young.

Madrid did a tripple raid on Dutch players last year with Drenthe, Sneijder, and Robben.

  106. gazzap

within a few games of being captain I thought Gallas was a good choice and he continued to be a great captain until the Birmingham away game. since then he lost all the respect of his team mates and whats more he seemed to lose his love for the game and became angry. players do not play or captain well when they are angry. he was not happy or relaxed. since Brum, he should not have been captain but it was hard for Wenger to take it mid-season. the situation is a difficult one. what will it do to Gallas as a player, if wenger takes the captaincy away?
If Flam signs my choice of cap would be him.

  107. t-buzz

Trin_Gunner, Ryan Babel said arsenal were interested in him and that there was talks going on with his agent…only for AW to come out and say that it was untrue!! I have given up on AW with signings cos you hear things hoping its true only to find out on the arsenal website that its false(e.g Woodgate Babel, the list goes on).

  108. Odub

Pedro wouldnt give it to him now, but think a change is def required for next season. Obviously need to see who stays, gets sold and comes in, but I’d give it to Gilberto if he stays because the likelyhood is all the others (apart from Kolo) will have early season off after the euros, and I still aint convinced Flamini’s staying, hope I’m wrong.

  109. Trinidad_Gunner

Gallas hasn’t been as bad as it looks (apart from the penalty last weekend).. we were calling it a master move by Wenger when Gallas was putting in last minute goals at the begining of the season.

  110. Matt K

I Think Flamini would be our best captain, then Cesc as he is our best player and leads by example.

Hleb cant go, simple as. Arsenal would be half as attractive side to watch without Hleb, Put him and Rosicky in the same side and the fireworks were flying!

I like senderos, as a back up im happy with him, need to break up that partnership of gallas and toure though, not comanding enough!

  111. Pedro

    Traore out wide… makes sense!

He reckons it is his natural position. He is fast, skilful and can defend (A bit). That would be one pacey left side of park!

I hope Flamini values the team more than money… but I doubt it!

  112. ScubaGooner

gallas was flaky before Brum; he is not a leader.

It’s easy to manage/motivate/lead when everything is running smoothly and going well – anyone on here including me who’ve been a perfect captain the way we were playing….

He’s not half the player he was at chelski so if he’s the best we got we’re fucked!!! Oh yeah; even Wenger has spotted that flaw

  113. Dan

I don’t want to see the back of Senderos, i think he can be a great defender, i dunno why but i just have faith in him. I would definitely get rid of Eboue though.

I would love to see Villa at Arsenal and i would be happy if we only brought him and no other major signings as i think some of the reserve players will come up.

I cant wait to see Barazite and Merida in the first team, in my opinion they look great and will be great for the first team. Actually, a lot of the reserves look great at the moment, hopefully they can become great first team players in a few years.

Toure has been a defensive rock for Arsenal, but Gallas should go. We got him for free, might as well cash in on him and bring someone else to play next to Toure. We could get about 5 mill for Gallas easily, bring in a 10-15 mil CB with skill and experience and we’re sorted for another 3-5 years. Gallas is not the future.

I think Fabregas would be a good captain, a positive role model and someone who strives towards excellence. Even senior players in rival teams such as Frank Lampard have respect for him.

A captain needs to command respect…..he should be a player that everyone shows respect to when they walk past. Fabregas is the man.

    Libelfootball Alert:

Real Madrid winger Robinho is facing being axed by the club at the end of the season.

DiarioSport says Real management have grown tired of Robinho’s antics off the pitch, including his time spent away with the Brazil squad.

Some at Real have likened Robinho’s behaviour to what Antonio Cassano was getting up to before he was jettisoned to Sampdoria last year and are pushing for the Brazilian to be sold in the summer.

The winger made his first team return against Murcia last weekend, but produced a flat performance. Interestingly, Wagner Ribeiro, Robinho’s agent, held talks with Real sports chief Pedja Mijatovic about a new contract two weeks ago, but left Madrid empty handed.

Justin Hoyte has some Trinidadian blood …. we asked him to play for us in World Cup qualifiers but he says he’s aiming for England !
