I think we’ll have a pretty strong squad for today, minus Flamini, but then he was missing from most of the Liverpool game anyway, and defensive howlers apart, we were the better team, so I think if he can shore up the defence we can win this and go on and win the league.
So what can he do in defence? He has to play Eboue, Kolo, Gallas and Clichy, or maybe spring a surprise and put Song or Djourou in and mix it up a bit, but I would go for the tried and tested.
We know Ronaldo and Rooney will start so we have to dominate midfield so I expect Hleb to drop into the hole and Ade will play alone, but I would go 4-4-2 and go for a bit of shock value, but he won’t, so I’ll be comfortable with anything save two things, no Senderos and no Eboue out wide.
Send on Theo and let him be our Ronaldo, let them be terrorised by this young genius, Theo can be the next big thing in English football, and given the chance, can be the signing we have been clamoring for at Arsenal, this boy can be a genius if you let him go Arsene, let him off the leash and bite red nose squarely on his fat arse.

I think Adebayor gets unfairly criticised. He’s our top scorer and without his goals this season we’d be battling Everton for 4th place. Yes he misses lots of chances but he’s never a natural goalscorer, he needs to play with an Eduardo type player and unfortunatly he’s injured and Wenger persists in playing him up on his own week in and week out. As for Hleb, he’s a great technicion and can make things happen, to me he’s not the one who’s meant to be the replacement for Pires, thats Rosicky and he’s been out for most of the season.

Im just sympathetic towards Adebayor because he’s not a natural finisher, thats not his fault, at Monaco he had a record of a goal every 4 games, he’s being asked to play on his own up front. Only special players like Henry or an Etoo can do that, he needs a player up with him and unfortunatly at the moment we dont have that, but I would like to see Walcott play up alongside him for the remainder of the season.
By the way, I’d take Bendtner over Adebayor…He’s a considerable talent to be reckoned with…He’s just 20, and strikers reach their peak at about 23-29. He’s already been likened to great danes of the past…that speaks about his potential..

Hleb is the main reason- along with fab- that we got to place like Anfield and old Trafford and make them look like mugs for long spells. His selflessness is annoying but that wouldn’t be a problem if we didn’t have muppets like Adebayor and Eboue cumin in their pants as soon as they see the goal.
There is a mental imbalance in this side. The composed, methodical players like Hleb and Fab and then the over-excitable Africans who tend to get brain farts. That’s why our philosophy gets mangled and looks naive.

I think we are probably safe for Champions league football next season so maybe Wenger can experiment a little for the rest of the season, id like to see Diaby in central mid, Walcott up front, stick Eboue back to right back and give Bentdner a shot up top, and even try Traore left wing and maybe give a run out to players like Barazite and Lansbury and Fabianski. Its time for the boss to start planning for next season.

I can’t understand some of the comments today. The guys did us proud. Yeah…. we lost. But we lost to two set plays,. Look at who they had on the pitch. Look at how much their tem cost. And know that MU fluked it. They were backs to the wall for the last 10 minutes. Had Van de Saar not palmed a shot onto the post, we would have been 2-1 up, not them.
In Clichy, Hleb, and Cesc, we had the best players.

As to the argument that the Board are only interested in money – I say ‘bollocks’. They are all extremely wealthy men, and are in it for the kudos of being Directors of a WINNING, succesful team.
Hill -Wood has repeatedly said in the press, that there is money to support Wenger. I think that it is a discreet message o Wenger that the Board want him to sign a name player, and that they too believe the squad is too thin.

We’ll get a finisher, thats the one player Wenger is going to buy. As mentioned earlier, we’re still creating chances, it’s just that we don’t have a sniper to finish the job off. Ade is not a first striker, never has been and never will be so lets forget any Drogba comparisons, he’ll never be a number one.
I remember Wenger talking about Nordveit saying he was ready for the PL technically but not physically. With Arsenal’s training programme, the boy should have the muscle to handle things by now.
Reading and Derby are two massive games for us now, we need to win them both to guarantee 3rd place.
Entering a Manyoo with hardly any wins under our belt was the wrong time to play them for us. Our next four fixtures we’d normally expect 12 points from, but I’m hoping for at least six, when Wenger can make his final assessment of this season.
It’s obviously not as it could be, buty the problem wasn’t today, it\s been a whole host of matches. We don’t deserve the title, thats the way it is at the moment, you can’t go for two months with relegation quality form and still claim for the title. Arsenal have had two months of chances, but as Ferguson said earlier…..when your best team isn’t available, you struggle. He knows about that himself with title struggles that he had. I remember a few years back when Manyoo fans were calling for his head and saying his day was done, and since then he’s won the title.
We’re going to be dark horse contenders for the title again next year, we’ve done it once and we’ll do it again.
Ethan pointed out the adamant complacency on Wenger’s part every week. That sums up the reasons for the team loosing so many points when it REALLY MATTERS! It has not been as bad as some are making out, but we have not won a trophey again.
We have come on a lot this season and done well without Henry.
Well done to Sagna, Flamini and Clichy, our players of the season, all coming on leaps and bounds. Lets hope you all stay and make it in Euro 2008.
But lets be clear we need a few players to leave and a few more to come in.
Eboue, Hoyte, Gilberto, Adebayor, Lehman, it has been fun but off you go, you either are not good enough or you are passed your best.
So we need a big beast of a Center Half. Strong, powerful, a person with speed and strength, someone who can dominate our box and attack the ball at set pieces.
We need some width. Yes Walcott looks good, there is talk of Vela coming into the squad and there are some young players who could add some depth to the squad.
Do we need a forward? YES, YES, YES. Adebayor has to go. He keeps missing simple chances, and he adds pressume to the team when he misses. If he takes his share of chances we would be wining game but much more, and turn draws into wins. Who we need I dont know, but I am sure Wenger does know.
I think we need a keeper, unless Wenger thinks Fabinaski can do the job.
As fans we need to know where will Denilson, Song and Diaby be playing next season. How can they add to the team?
Wenger there are many questions for you to solve this Summer. Lets get some of the young players out there now and give them a go.

You will not improve if you dont learn from your own mistakes. Yet knowing stubborn arsene wenger, he’ll never even think he is wrong. He is too philosophical most of the time, while expecting all others to follow the same standards and values which he has.
No wonder others calls him a whiner.
So the season despite its bright start is totally wasted in terms of winning trophies. The record books probably say of the club performance as having “played most beautiful football in the world, BUT win totally nothing.” And this is 3 years in a row, totally unacceptable for a club of arsenal’s stature. Beautiful football win you nothing unless you score. It will go down in history that this arsenal team is the joke of the season, as the greatest under-achievers in view of their potential. But the truth is this: you dont score, then you dont win; dont espect your opponents to help you do your job. Also not forgetting what has been bellowed in recent past, that one wins nothing with young kids. How prophetic that has turned out to be. Maybe arsene wenger is blinded by his own fantasy of perfect football, … but without excellent players? (Remember even holland’s total football team did not win them the world cup). This is totally not possible especially if when you have in the team some defenders and players whose legs seem made of wood, and a forward who has no clue how not to be caught offside -despite the years of playing football. And how can a team have good atmosphere when the two keepers are fighting one another, and also openly at that?
Arsene should learn from the red nose. You pay for quality always; that makes sense. The red nose would really fight until he gets what he wants to win the championships. Just see how he went after hargreaves – who put the nail to arsenal’s coffin for this season, unfortunately. No reward for guessing, but manure is now challenging the CL, league title, etc… hear after year. But Arsene? he would probably be so gentleman and shy off competition, especially if the price tag is “too high”. Hello sir, nothing is exactly free or always on the cheap. Might as well be coach of a youth team. Then again, how sure are you that his youths will all turn out as top quality? On the contrary, look at eboue, senderos, ade. Championship material? Big Raddy knows it: we looked like the home team for most of the game. But we failed to capitalise on our oppurtunities then got stung by a sucker punch. The penalty was fair because Ade used his arm to score ours, but we should have been ahead at half-time anyway, probably really two goals to the good
Bottom line we more than competed at Old trafford with the soon to be crowned champions, so maybe we aren’t actually doing to much wrong. What we are doing wrong is glaringly obvious and have been done to death on this blog so I fear to repeat them. As Geoff says the defense needs serious work. Senderos probably needs to be jetisoned and the pairing of Toure and Gallas seems a little lightweight: all pace and flash but not enough grit and height. Is Almunia good enough between the sticks? Balance balance balance! The midfield needs to be properly organised. We proper wide men, not Eboue or Diaby or Eduardo or however else Wenger wants to stick out there.
I’m not part of the anti-Ade brigade, and think he should play, but he can be improved upon. Buy a top class striker and we would have been home free today.

I just don’t get this youngsters maturing next season spiel. I find Denilson, Diaby, Song to a lesser extent(quite impressive today) completely underwhelming and it will be more a case of them not being good enough rather than lacking maturity. We haven’t exactly got five diego maradona’s waiting for a chance.
Is Toure going to grow a composed brain? Adebayor will always be a complacent tool in my book. Can Fabregas get any more mature? He is a freak in that sense. Is Hleb going to shoot more? Is Rozza gonn stay injury free? The only possible improvement maybe Clichy cutting out those mistakes.
I don’t see maturity as the main problem. It’s just lack of quality and depth. Wenger is missing the big picture big time if he thinks time is going to be a panacea for our ills.
I’m probably in the minority but I think Ade will come good, but he needs to spend time on the bench and go to control and shooting school this summer.
Arsene is a great manager but he needs to spend, Edleman said in the annual report that Wenger had £75 mil and that was before he sold Diarra.
We will be debt free in 2009 so I have no idea what Wenger is talking about when he says money is tight.

Agree about FB’s. But I thought that Kolo/Eboue did well today, and that the fantastic Sagna wasn’t really missed.
The real problem with Sagna’s absence is that AW has to play Eboue rather than Theo, because Kolo is not a natural full back and needs support. And as we all know Eboue adds very little (or nothing) to the team as an attacking option. His crossing today was non-existent, and all our attacks came down the left.
The sooner Sagna comes back and Theo can get a run in the team , the better

The back line obviously needs sorting out but we need to get our winning mentality back as the boss, some players & suporters seem happy with playing/or watching good football & no trophies at the end.
