Money won – Arsene screwed us again – End of season rant begins…

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I’ve never been so gutted.

The numbness is worse than Chelsea in the semi’s, Barca in the final, Spurs in the league cup and Nayim from the half way line… why? Because this could have all been prevented.

What was the difference between Arsenal and Liverpool tonight?

About £38 million worth of talent.

1 shot, 1 goal from Torres.

1 shot, 1 goal for Babel.

Yeah, the penalty was debatable. Only if you were a Dutch ref called Pieter Vink. It was a clumsy and an unnecessary tackle from an experienced player.

Liverpools first goal was Senderos’ fault for player watching. True, but how many players score a header from 16 yards out?

The line up from the start stunk of negativity.

Take the midfield

Eboue (RB) Cesc (CM) Flamini (CM) Diaby (CM) Hleb (CM)

Does that look like a balanced midfield to you?

Diaby is not a great player, he scored tonight but any keeper worth his salt would have saved that near post shot.

Hleb? Great feet, but its like being a man down when we go forward because he will not shoot. Good luck playing like that in Milan Hleb, you’ll last a year… still, the ice cream is good?

Flamini, what a fighter. Will he sign? I doubt it. Would you if Milan offered you double?

Theo has been mustard for the last 3 games, what does the boy have to do to get a starting berth?

Eboue has been so bad, it brings a tear to my eye.

He was so fucking abysmal tonight my brother nearly burst a blood vessel screaming at the screen. He can’t pass, he can’t finish… fuck… he can barely control the ball.

Tell me. What right does he have to play at Arsenal? He is atrocious. Bring back Eddie Mcgoldrick, Chris Kiwomya, David Hillier, Glen Helder… any of those shitters would do a better job.

How is this for Arsene humour. We had Eboue and Yaya Toure on trial at the same time and we kept Eboue (The first time we had him on trial in 2004)!

What a fucking joke…

Now onto Adebayor…

Ok, how can you slate a player who has bagged so many goals for you?

Well digest these facts,

  • Marcus Stewart (19 Prem goals second top scorer 1999-00)
  • Kevin Phillips (30 goals in a season top scorer 2000-01)
  • Chris Sutton (19 Goals 1997-98 top scorer)

His first touch is outrageously bad. Why can’t he roll a pass back?

He holds the line like a school kid? I counted him offside 3 times in the first 15 minutes.

His finishing is poor. What possessed him to try and chip it to the far post when he was played through? Thierry, Wrighty, Bergkamp, Anelka, Wiltord… Kaba Diawara would have all buried that.

That my friends is the difference between greatness and going out in the quarters.

With Ade we’ve taken a stone and shined it up… Arsenal should be buying the rough diamonds.

Torres is a rough diamond, everyone knew about him… why weren’t we in for him? He gets the ball and your heart starts racing. Do you get that with Ade? I don’t…

I find it difficult to slate Senderos? Its quite clear he is out of his depth. I love to defend him, but he was exposed twice tonight. Its not good enough, but we’ve all been saying the same thing for years?

Special praise goes out to Theo. Your run was mesmerising, you are showing us all why Arsene spent so much money on you… about time to! Why the whole team felt the need to channel all the balls to Ade is beyond me. Well played though, you’re a keeper for next year, that’s for sure.

I know the Flamster went off through injury, but that is where our problem lies.

Great first 11, shame about the rest.

Still what are you going to do?

Listen to people tell you how you are spoilt by success?

Oh we won a trophy 3 years ago, tonight was ok then… this season was, erm? Progress!

Listen to morons telling you that you sound like a Manc and you should go and support another team?

Fuck being a Manc, take a look at what happens at Milan, Barca, Madrid, Juve and Inter if you don’t win a trophy.

There is no shame in expecting to win things. A winning mentality is a culture and it should be embodied by the fans and the players, just like it is at all the great clubs, countries and businesses.

That this is a knee jerk reaction…

Define Knee Jerk:

An automatic response to something.

Ok, I’ve had since the 16th of February to think about this…

In that time I’ve seen,

2 wins

7 draws

3 losses

Ok, my conclusion?

Its been shit.

If your idea of an automatic response is 52 days, you should go and work for the claims department at Zurich Insurance…

How Arsene knows and will rectify it in the summer…

Get real people, Arsene doesn’t know… because we all knew what was going to happen in the summer… and sure enough, come what April… it has.

Arsenal are loaded, the fans are skint… and we’ve gone another season with fuck all to show for it.

Arsene knows? Does he fuck…

  1. Arsenaldo

Geoff in your logic there should be only 5 or 6 teams in Premiership winning silverware , and the others should not exist??

  2. Pedro

We didn’t know he was a spud… then he started cunting the spuds off… so I thought I’d keep it.

I was confused… it all happened so fast!

  3. Pedro

What are you talking about Arsenaldo?

    Have I missed something?

The should only be 4 teams competing realistically for silverware.

Its the way its always been right?

  4. Patdig

Why does the le boss have an obsession with immobile balding centre halves.

Stepanous, Cygan and now Big Phil ???

God it hurts , when will it stop ? I cant cope with anymore pain , this is worse than the 80′s, at least then we were just plain shite……

  5. ScubaGooner

I’ve just read that Arsenal have “intensified its commercial relationship” with Stan Kroenke’s KSE group – stronger commercial links; promote the Arsenal brand in the US etc etc.

Now forgive me; but wasn’t this the way DD was trying to push the board towards when he fell out with them – because he wanted to and they didn’t……

Now whilst he hasn’t moved into the boardroom as yet its looking a lot tighter than Hill-Wood said it ever would be…… didn’t he say something along the lines of “we don’t want his sort at Arsenal”??

    Changed his fucking tune somewhat!!

  6. Finestcuts

GMR, Senderos was rock solid against Milan, and in the Prem games he has played when Sagna was about, Arsenal’s defensive record was better than with Toure.

  7. Geoff

yeah but they’re not in business not to win trophies are they? and they don’t charge what we do, do they?

  8. GMR

Arsenaldo, maybe if arsenal charged what the likes of bolton, boro & blackburn do to attend games, then we wouldn’t have any right to moan. However they charge the most money in the premier league to attend matches but spend like a relegation candidate.

  9. Arsenaldo

We dont say Sombreros is absolute shite-he plays well…..sometimes. but it should be every game -sory ,not good enough for Arsenal

  10. ethan_gunner

    Odub

Nar mate i don’t puff the magic dragon ..
my life is too boring for that ! Just copious amounts of alcohol is enough to make me pass out nowadays … But just reading all these big names your getting me excited !

You know it wont happen thou !?
The guy wouldn’t even purchase anelka for 12million . what chance have we got at getting any huge names mentioned above ???

We have to face it that wenger will utilize his scouts and pick similar players to sagna and dudu .. no more than 5 -10 mil a pop max age 24 ..
from remote countries like Estonia,Latvia and ivory coast . :)

I would imagine he would get a Brazilian player .. they possess skill and some are cheap for the level of skill they actually have .. ok south American .. because it could be peru- columbia – argentina .. but you get the idea ..

Next step is what if these guys take too long to adapt ? dudu did in all honesty .. so did baptista . we are in transition phase 2 part 1 ! ??

Id prefer to grab talent from the EPL ! proven EPL players . no down time !
    hit the ground running !

but again will arsene do it ? no
should he do it ? YES !

  11. GMR

Finestcuts, you’ll never convince me that Senderos is even half decent. I really don’t have the time & I’m far too lazy to list the mistakes that c*** has made, it would take a couple of days at least. He is far worse than cygan ever was & that for me says it all. To pass the ball he has to stop it first, then take a jog backwards before he can run forwards & launch it.

  12. Arsenaldo

Your right -we charge much more, but stadium is still full. thats what they want-and they got it.

4 teams get into the season thinking of winning premiership, 7-8 hope to survive and stay up and the other 8 -9 hope of miracles and get their hands ot carling cup or qualify in europe . so I dont thing except top 4 anyone else is thinking reallisically of silverware

  13. Finestcuts

Ethan, who would you get in the PL as a striker and a winger.

Torres would be lovely but no chance….we’re not going to pinch anyone from a rival top 4 team, so who is “the best” who isn’t already in the top 4?

I don’t believe in all this adaptation nonsense, I’ve never had adaptation periods for jobs I’ve had to do, I had to get on with it, immediately.

Petrov from Man City didn’t need an adaptation period, neither did Torres or plenty of other PL players.

  14. ethan_gunner

YES GEOFF ! HEAR HEAR !!!!

Football clubs exist for one reason, to win Silverware. Absolutely nothing else, if there is another reason know alls, then pray tell me.

We don’t exist to play nice football, charge a shed load to watch and buy no one.

If these people believe that then they should read arsenal.com and not this blog.

3 seasons with no silverware is totally and absolutely unacceptable, so if he does nothing in the off season, I will be calling for his head, the gloves are off now Arsene.

    GEOFF FOR PRESIDENT !!!

    winning is a habit !
all winners will tell you that !
AFC needs that kind of kick up the bum !
    im with you 110% !

  15. Adam

Wenger is a cunt its all his fault except for the large portion of fault that goes to the shit refs. every other team rests their players against the crap sides occasionally like with man u they will rest ronaldo and rooney etc, but fucking wenger wont, no you wanker, we have to play every single game with fabregas and flamini and the rest of the first team, no wonder players are always injured they never get a break.
And when we have players who are really good backup sitting on the bench like the cunt who went to pompey, do we use them? not fucking likely we sell them and then wank on the profit. you utter dickhead wenger get a fucking grip and buy some decent players. players out of position everywhere, who the fuck does that? what a cunt! cunt! cunt!cunt!cunt!cunt! fuck i’m pissed off.

  16. GMR

I really hope Man Utd stuff us this weekend. We won’t beat them whatever happens & we won’t win the league even if by some miracle we did beat them because they would still have to lose another game & drop points in another of the 4 remaining after sunday. On top of that Chelski would also have to lose points.

The reason I want them to stuff us is because I’m sick & tired of excuses. I don’t want to get a draw & listen to Wenger drone on & on about how much quality this side have & how much mental strength they displayed. Just fuc*ing own up & then go & buy some players.

If anyone has actually listened to him, Wenger is talking about how good this team will be in another 3-4 years. He genuinely believes that we should wait another 3-4 years to win trophies to show his experiment did work. The guy is a loon.

  17. Finestcuts

Old supply and demand in full effect at Arsenal. They could even stick a tenner onto each ticket and still get a sellout, something even a crack dealer couldn’t do. This puts Arsenal FC in an extremely powerful situation…when demand drops they’ll react (but it won’t…….if they had tickets on the door they would sell as well) but still have plenty saved aside for a rainy day. They can’t lose financially.

  18. Ray Gooner

Gianluigi Buffon, Micah Richards, Diego Capel, Yohann Gourcuff, Robinho & Karim Benzema!

These are the players we need!

Lehmann, Hoyte, Senderos, Eboué, Gilberto, & Rosicky should be offloaded!

But that is only in my dreams of course…

  19. ScubaGooner

If I have to wait another 3 – 4 years I’m going to watch derby next season – no expectation whatsoever!!

  20. Pedro

haha, Geoff for President… that would be great!

GMR, I wouldn’t go along with that! But if we beat the mancs it might reinforce Wengers view that the team needs to stay the same!

    3-4 years is to long…

  21. Adam

all season my liverpool suppoprting mate has been hoping liverpool get belted every week so rafa will be sacked because he just cant stand the boring football.
I’m starting to feel the same way, except I don’t want wenger sacked, i just want him to stop being a complete cunt!

  22. GMR

The Arsenal board are more concerned about the property deals they are doing than about the football team. They want the stadium paid off so they can bump their salaries up without question. When they first came to Arsenal it may well have been a love of football (it wasn’t in PHW’s case) however the pound signs have taken over now & football is secondary to them.

  23. Ray Gooner

But i do believe we could get Diego Capel & Yohann Gourcuff though, and that would be a good start!

  24. Geoff

And that’s another thing Wenger gets the credit for, the stadium, as I said earlier, it wasn’t his idea and if Arsenal had listened to me 10 years ago and gone to Kings Cross we wouldn’t have the debacle of getting home that we all do and the capacity would’ve been 80,000, so don’t give them too much credit.

  25. GMR

Pedro, come sunday I’ll want arsenal to tank man utd, but right now whilst i’m in the right frame of mind I know the best outcome is for us to lose for the long term good of the team.

  26. Geoff

    Ethan I accept!

If the Arsenal board, Wenger included, gave a rats arse about us they would have given the £10 million they promised Red Ken to put escalators in Holloway road, and maybe we’d all get home without queueing for an hour after each game.

  27. GMR

Geoff, didn’t it turn out they couldn’t move to kings cross because the people they thought owned the land actually didn’t. I can’t remember which way around it was now but I believe Arsenal thought BR owned it. I do know that the real owners said Arsenal would never be allowed to get their hands on it though!!

  28. Paulinho

When it comes to buying players, Wenger reminds me of that old guy in Shawshank Redemption who gets released after sixty or so years and somehow prefers living in a shithole and hangs himself when has freedom.

Wenger is same with buying players. I can imagine him signing Ben Arfa, Diego, and anothe top player in the summer and then resigning from his post and driving off a cliif in dover.

  29. Pedro

Well Chaps you’ll be pleased to know that today was a new record for comments!

Many thanks from Le Grove, its been a good day… its nice blogging with like minded people!

    Cheers

  30. ethan_gunner

    Finestcuts

i think if raffa goes in the summer ( bookies odds are 3 to1 ) i think we would have a good claim on torres! anelka says he’s happy at chevski but give him 6 months and he’ll be squeaking like a little bitch for more time on the pitch .. Thankfully i wont be making the decisions , im more interested to see arsenes next steps ! his defining moments !

Unlike geoff who still loves arsene , i think his time is over and he wont change his stripes! Its time for you to go basil fawlty , its as simple as that .. What ever choices he makes will still take time to come to fruition . Time we can ill afford !

  31. ethan_gunner

Yes ground capacity is directly linked to pedestrian access !
As an architect i know about these things ! exit points , council guidelines all have to do with overall capacity of the ground .. Its all to do with emergency exits also .
Whilst i haven’t seen the plans for the emirates ive seen video footage of walkways etc.
and they look pretty congested, its amazing they passed it to begin with !! sure you can marvel at the structure , but capacity issues look shambolic !

  32. Geoff

Finestcuts, 60,000 people queueing for a bus would be even worse.

I stay at the ground after a game for an hour and still have to wait 20 minutes to get on the platform, it’s fucking bad planning and was the first thing on my drawing board when they were discussing where.

My whole point is they didn’t really think about us, only their revenue, and now the manager is doing the same thing, fuck winning trophies, look at the money I’m not spending.

  33. Finestcuts

    Ethan

We’d need to give him a 130k a week 5 yr contract for Torres to come to the Emirates.

With Wenger worried about paying Flamini too much to make sure everyone doesn’t get upset that someone else is earning more than them, I just can’t see it happening. Bringing Torres in would cost:

    Torres transfer fee 30+ mil
    His wages

An increase in other team members wages.

Something I’m sure Wenger would consider a faux pas.

So it’s a non-starter…….you’d need a manager who comes from a chequebook club to start doing deals like that.

Wenger is the last bastion of stability at the club, and I still believe he’s got what it takes to bring us silverware. Once he’s gone, I fear the management merry-go-round with huge payoff to sacked managers. If by the time Wenger completes his contract we don’t have any medals to show for it, it’s time to bring someone new in. Knowing Arsenal thoy won’t be pumping for the vacancy, they’ll open the file-o-fax and get some connections who are already known to the board. Maybe Tony Adams or someone of that calibre.

Remember that Wenger himself came from Grampus 8…

  34. Geoff

Are you talking the Emirates or Kings Cross Ethan? if it’s the Emirates they can add, apparently it was designed to take another tier.

Bring back terracing and the problem’s solved, not the access though.

  35. SFO Gooner

As long we believe it was ‘dodgy’ penalty decisions that caused the defeat, we will never learn from it and the same thing will happen next year.

what we are missing is ‘defensive organization’. Gallas ia a very poor in this aspect and this is not personnel related ( even hough I agree senderos is crap!).

For example we thought Sol Campbell was over the hill and let him go. But he know plays in a much better organized defence which practises setplays and defending long balls at Porstmouth. Of course the coaching of Tony Adams helps.

If wenger cannot organize a defence (he inherited a very good defence for his first few titles from GG), he should hire a defenisve first team coach. And Who better than Tony Adams?

  36. suicidalsam

EBOUE and ADEBAYOR are a liability. we need a striker who can hold a ball up, run channels and beat defenders. torres was a perfect choice but wenger didn’t pay what Ath. Madrid were asking for him. We could have swapped him with reyes and paid a bit more. I am sure there could have been a solution. well not dwelling on the past, whats done is done. AW plz buy some great players in the summer. sell eboue for sure and ade too. buy some quality not shit ppl who dives every chance he gets and not a striker who has got the worst touch and plz play theo more often, he can’t do anything if he sits on the bench. and also give some rest to fabregas next season, you might wear him out and tie up flamini’s contract, pay whatever he asks for.

I think we should keep senderos, he can some in and give vital rest to gallas or toure when playing a less quality team.

is there any transfer speculation and rumors related to players coming to arsenal? if so plz post them all.

  37. Jungleboy78

Personally I would say that Arsene’s arrogance and pride has got the better of him. When Abramovich came along and raised the price of every Tom, Dick and Harry out there Wenger knew Arsenal couldn’t compete in the transfer market hence, the sudden reliance on youth, and Wenger convinced himself he could win the league with a bunch of kids and rough diamonds. The problem is that the standard of play has been set so high that even the promoted Championship teams are doing well if they stay up for a season or two. So what makes Wenger think he can win the league like this? Unfortunately, I have no faith in him to relise the error of his ways and spend every penny available to him this Summer. Instead I expect him to make one or two purchases and bring in a bunch of players from the Reserves for yet more embarasement and heavy beatings from ManYoo and the like. If things aren’t rapidly changed at the club then we are going down the league faster than a whore on a politician.

  38. Finestcuts

Adams would be a great acquisition for our training staff, that would be a touch.
It’s a shame we let go of Sol Campbell…..something Wenger acknowledge since speculation at the time was that Sol was off to Fenerbahce.

  39. ethan_gunner

    Finestcuts

i agree wenger would never in a month of sunday’s do it !
thats why we need his head on a stick now !
but we’ve seen torres can score goals ! and we need to take good players from lesser teams to make ours greater ! if we have to play Russian roulette with wengers signings again who can tell what sort of time restraints we are on again ?

Geoff if your serious about the pedestrian access problems you should ring up your local
authority that zones the Emirates, and find out why and how they cannot move traffic quicker ! you can ask for the pedestrian guidelines of commercial spaces , and id bet ya there could be something dodgy going on …

  40. israeli gooner

The problem is very simply-the bad combination of stingy board, and ego meniak boss, combine together into one entity that has the same interest.
I for long time expressing these opinion, and i was critisised so much,by a very loyal arsenal fans(that i respect)but the succsess of the club(titles)IS THE SOLE GOAL!!!!and not all the pathetic stories by the board and the egoistic boss!!!
Wanger PUT his ego ABOVE THE CLUB’S INTEREST
,i know it sound very extrim but we all need to understand-we support a very big club, that the people who run it,make him a SMALL ONE!!!!!
NO ONE IS BIGGER THEN THE CLUB(even wanger).
Please dont let them tell you that we all need to thank god that wanger is with arsenal!!!our club alweys hd titles, and will always will have titles(but wanger need to change his attetude!!)
In the last 4 seasons “WANGER DONT KNOWS!!!!”.
SORT IT OUT ARSEN,OR JUST GO,,,,,,,PLEASE!!!!

  41. Odub

just got in switched on the old hdtv, and there’s Steve Archibald slatin TH14, saying he hasnt been impressed with his attitude since he joined Barca!!!!
    Shocking, absolutely shocking!!!

  42. Big Raddy

Back after a hugely depreesing day. I sometimes wish I didn’t have the Arsenal disease, but I got hooked at an early age (my first game at Highbury, I saw Stanley Matthews – no really it’s true!!)

If I wasn’t so passionate, I wouldn’t give a rats arse about last night, but I am. And so is Mr. Wenger. You can accuse him of many things but he is an Arsenal man, and will be as gutted as all of us. He will work harder to improve the team That is what he does, he is not a quitter.

He will know that he should have bought in Jan

  43. Michael

I do agree that Tony Adams should have a role at Arsenal, he is the definition of defending, but I also believe that defending should start from the front, recently we have scored very few team goals, Diaby’s goal was a rare occasion when we actually opened up a team with incisive passing, its kind of head scratching time when a team that relies so much on passing and moving and are failing so badly at there own game ethic. And what’s with the 4-5-1 formation, we need to play 4-4-2 much more than what we do.

  44. Big Raddy

Right Michael, but the injuries to RvP and Eduardo curtailed the teams ability to change. Bendtner and Theo are untried and I guess AW did not trust them.

  45. ethan_gunner

    raddy

He will know that he should have bought in Jan

do you really believe that ? do you really think thats what he would say ?
i just think you’d get a lot of excuses .. the refs – injuries .. we are a bit naive still.
next season we will all be that much older , and crappier !

Sure most of the arsene rose tinted squad id say are hardened fans too
it all boils down to do you want to win or make excuses ?
I dont think too many of us would complain if we over took chevski
and won the FA cup .. even the C.C ( least it would get some spuds off my back :) )

  46. Patdig

Funny how someone with so much faith in youngsters did not really trust them at all when it mattered most.

    Wenger is therefore a hypocrite!!!!

  47. Odub

We played 4-4-2 for 8 years under Wenger and then he changes it during the charge to Paris in 2006. It only really worked because we had the pace, guile and goal scoring back up abilities of Pires and ljunberg, to back up TH14 For those 3 we now have Ade,Eboue and Diaby!!! Not good.

  48. Paulie

I found this website by accident and im delighted. Ive been questioning Wenger for quite a while now and when ive posted on other blogs ive been absolutely amazed at the amount of stick ive taken over having a go at Arsene. Lately theres been a little more debate but still im amazed at the constant bullshit that Wenger and the board spins and how its swallowed up by some fans, never daring to question what the hells going on. I seem to have found the perfect message board at last and am looking forward to reading the many posts.

  49. Odub

Nice to see we’re not the only ones who think AW got it wrong and should have bought back up, as well as the fact that he keeps picking a player who everyone agrees isnt good enuff for us (Eboue)

Just saw Frank McClintock and Nigel Winterburn state the above on SSNews..are they going to get called fickle cnuts as well by the you know who brigade I wonder?!!!

  50. Odub

So let me ge this straight Patdig…….a chap called lofty and the drummer from a band called m people are our new voices of reason?!!!

  51. ethan_gunner

    odub

arsene plays so many players out of position… its no wonder we are in this shambles !
you get a perfect chance to partner ade with walcott for 70 minutes , and what does he do ? starts with LE chump !!! and goes 4-5-1

    wow thats a statement !

  52. Odub

yeah ethan it must have scared the scousers shitless seeing our starting 11!!

See above (12.20) what a spud mate sent me today re our team, couldnt really quibble with it!

  53. Patdig

Unfortunately they are the front men for Fans Forum on AFC TV, a more blinkered pair of Arsene knows men you will never find. They drive me mad …..

  54. ethan_gunner

i hope 90% of man’Ure’s player get injured tonight .
i hope ronaldo comes in and does 1 cross over too many and gets an ankle injury (ill be kind ) for just 1 week ! i cant see roma getting anything from the game ..
it sickens me to think we were the only sods to drop out from the homeland so far !

i think that ALONE tells you where we are in the pecking order of things these days..
Wenger dust off the cheque book ! ill give you one last chance !!!

    night all !

  55. Geoff

That’s no problem Patdig, the only thing that offends me are the muppets that support the ‘arsene knows’ brigade.

    Enjoy the blog you’re welcome!

  56. Goona P

Like i posted earlier if Wengers thinks its down to ‘bad luck’ then he wont change things??? from what i understand hes under no pressure to change things from anyone at Arsenal Football Club? which if true you have to question agenda of club?

My fear is next season will be no different to last 3…???

For me to be excited about next season half current squad needs to be gone…. & to be replaced with proven quality players, but thats not gonna happen…

Wenger needs to admit hes wrong & try to compete with big teams on their terms ie spend arsenals/our money on players worthy of ‘the Arsenal’, again won’t happen….

So where do we go from here……………………………………?

  57. Odub

Patdig, You’re doing well so far mate, Ive got 4 months experience mostly on this site, and I still manage to incur the wrath of other bloggers from time to time!!!

Right off to pick ‘she who is to be obeyed’ up from the train station, so will catch up again later.
    great banter today chaps.

  58. Patdig

He will probably sign some new 15 year old, one for the future no doubt. Not good enough for me anymore the coercive man in wants instant change and that means big names for big money.

  59. Trinidad_Gunner

Wenger will have about $100M to spend this summer right? For about half of that he could get Robinho, Ben Afra, and Quaresma will most likely be shiiped out. And Diego to cover for Fabregas? FAB can’t be playing 90 mins in every game.
Vela and Rosicky would be cover on the wings and Diaby, Denilson and Song would be cover for Flamini? They could fight it out in the FA and Carling cups.

We have money so we shouldn’t be getting rid of players, we’ll just have a thin squad again with players out of position. Keep Eboue as cover for Sagne. To be fair to him he’s been out of position all season long.
If we don’t ship out anyone (apart from Jens), AND buy Quality, we can compete for all 4 competitions, instead of playing 16 year olds in the FAC and CC.

Has anyone heard about Van Der Vaart becoming available? He seems to want to leave Hamburg. Spain might be his preference, but if Arsenal shows interest. He can play on the left though.

Or we can ask DB10 to come back.

  60. Paulinho

Looks like I’m not the only one who feels the urge to smack Tom Watt right in the face everytime he does that stupid” maybe it’s just me, but I think our squad is covered, you’ve got Eboue, Diaby…” Him and shovell have their cock firmly implanted in Arsene’s ass. The only good one is Robson although for someone who knows the game his defending of Adebayor’s shite touch is equally galling.

  61. Paulie

Its obvious Arsene has taken us as far as he can now. Hes got 2 choices, (1) He can realise this and go, or (2) He can get the chequebook out and sighn some decent players and admit his old ideas dont work at this level anymore. For somebody whos being hailed as a genius by some sections of our support, it has to be pionted out that in 12 years hes got a woefull record in european football.

  62. Jungleboy78

Since we are playing Fantasy League Manager; my wish list is Rob Green, Micah Richards, Ben Arfa and Klaas Jan Huntelaar. We should be able to get to those four players for 70 million or just under and instantly the squad has been improved.

I’d also like to see Eboue, Gilberto, Lehmann, and Rosicky flogged for whatever we can get.

  63. Bradley

maybe the coaching staff needs a change? I mean, the gaffer does tactical stuff, and gets players up for the game and again at half time – but conceding goals within minutes of scoring is not so much a tactical problem as lapses in concentration – things that for a defense should be automatic, especially one with the experience of gallas and toure. Forward players have more leeway for lapses, but need moments of brilliance. Our defence needs to be tight 24/7; it needs to be drilled into them every minute they spend on the training grounds. The defence coach should be ringing them up in the morning on their way in to remind them. In the middle of the night, even! (OK, exaggerating maybe a little, but you get the jist…)

  64. GMR

Big Raddy, You say that Wenger will be just as gutted as us fans, but the difference is he had a chance to change things in January & chose not to.

As you say it looks like Wenger doesn’t trust Theo or Bendtner & everybody who knows anything about football knows that RVP gets injured every other week. So you’re actually saying that Wenger went into a new season with just Eduardo (who had only just arrived & was unproven at premier league standard) & Adebayor (who had never really performed consistantly) as his only two strikers that he could count on??

If thats true then surely that actually shows how poor his management has become!!

  65. GMR

Huntelaar won’t be as good in the premier league, he has no pace at all. I know there are exceptions that perform well like sheringham but Huntelaar has never looked that clever in the games I’ve seen him play.

  66. Bradley

another question – david dein seems to have been forgotten, as have AW’s expressed displeasure at having to fill in director of football duties. If DD had been around, would we have made the necessary signings preseason and/or at Xmas?

Note that this isn’t a defense of AW – he’s the one dragging his heels finding a new DoF, despite the inconvenience and the difficulty it gives him signing players.

It’s absolutely correct to criticise his transfer policy now the grove is standing; but I think his management/tactical ability is second to none in the Prem, and it’d be hard to disagree given just how he’s exceeded all expectations of our squad at the start of the season despite our left wing being ravaged by injuries.

somehow I get the feeling I’m going to get lumped in with a lot of unpopular people with this post. BB might even tell me to ‘fukk off’.

  67. AN Steve

Just got in great blog pedro

I am sooooooo fuckingggggggg anoyed still!!!!!!!!! read a few comments I will just repeat what everybody is saying. this could have been prevented Arsene we love but you have really fucked us over this time

  68. Bradley

there’s a lot of people in this thread pissed off at not signing torres, but I seem to remember seeing him with ‘You’ll never walk alone’ written on the inside of his captain’s armband at his last club – or was that a fake?

I notice my post above about the defensive coaching echoes the exact same point SFO made above – sry about that SFO. You made it a lot better than I did: AW has never in his arsenal career created a strong back 5. his desperate buying of a new keeper every 6 months just shows that.

  69. Trinidad_Gunner

    Van Der Vaart?
He can run, cross, shoot, and take free kicks if/when RVP is injured.

We need to do what Real Madrid did last Summer

  70. AN Steve

Bradley I still believ Wenger is right man for Arsenal however this this season he has got it wrong by not signing anybody in Jan. Also for the first time many people are questioning if his stance is based on to much stuborness. I honestly cannot remeber how frustrated I feel re football

  71. GMR

Geoff, I’d go with Benzema. He is proven at a better standard than Huntelaar & he easily mugged off Man Utd recently.

  72. Paulinho

Players who I would get rid of: Adebayor, Eboue, Senderos, Toure, Denilson(loan), Diaby(loan), Gilberto.

Bring in: Diego, Ben Arfa, Arshavin, a Berbatov type player who can play short passes with Hleb and Fabregas with some conviction. Mdertsacker who some big centre back who looks like they actually enjoy defending.

I could handle Adebayor if he was an impact sub, but Wenger has made him an untouchable and that winds me up. How can a player with that touch be an untouchable?

  73. Jungleboy78

What about David Villa? Valencia are struggling this season and he would fit in with Arsenal’s pace quite nicely plus we can offer him CL football next year.

  74. Michael

I just hope that on Sunday Wenger really goes for it, Walcott. Adebayor and Van Persie starting, please no more of this 4-5-1 nonsense, then at least we can say we attacked and went for it, and if we lose or draw we can maybe play the likes of Denilson, Song, Traore at left wing, Diaby in central midfield, Walcott up front for the remainder of the season, and even give run outs to the likes of Barazite and Lansbury to give them some experience. But thats me being wishfull, Walcott will probably play in goal and Gilberto will play up front with Senderos just behind.

  75. Bradley

I’d happily pick off the best players from Lyon. Greg Coupet has had several outstanding years (not so much this season but remember Man U’s signing of
Benzema, perfect. Strength, pace, energy, and unlike a few of our forwards, a real hunger to hear the ball hitting the BOTN.
Govou could be an OK substitute RW for Walcott, he keeps Ben Arfa out of the squad, which bring me on to that little feller – there are arguments both for and against getting this one; he’s young and inexperienced (against!); but he looks good, could quite likely play the Arsenal way, and is unsettled (i.e. cheaper!)

If we’re going to sign any of these, we need to do it before Euro 2008 because if they have a good one, their price will rocket and AW will chicken out

  76. Bradley

Paulinho are you serious about *getting rid of them* – with a squad as thin as ours???

    Adebayor strength, height
and an appetite for goals that nobody else in the squad can keep up consistently as long as he has, except maybe RvP, who may be hungry but he’s on the touchlines with the nurse 50% of the time. Fabregas had the hunger at the start of the season and look how much good it did us then. Since then he has stopped looking for goal opportunities and thus stopped scoring; nobody else from our midfield stepped up (except Walcott, who never plays or never gets the service)

  77. Paulinho

We either get rid of Hleb and Rosicky or we get rid of Adebayor. Those players are not compatible with eachother, given the disparity in their technique levels.

Hleb likes to play give and goes with players and that’s the only way he will score- if it’s a passing move and scoring is the logical conclusion. Adebayor is incapable of playing any sort of one-two without the ball flying in the air.

For me our problem offensively is blatantly obvious. We play a pass and move style and our main striker cannot pass and move. I believe his inablity to do so has drained Hleb and Fabregas because they make so many unrewarded runs which ade doesn’t see.

  78. SIMON MCAHON

well i’ve been to work faced the flack and it still fucking hurts !!!!!!, everything said at the top of the page is exactly true,
WENGER MUST STOP THIS INSANITY AND JUST GO AT THE END OF THE SEASON IF THIS IS WHAT HE CALLS PROGRESS!!!
MORE OF THE SAME SHIT AND WE WILL BE FURTHER BEHIND THE CHAVS AND MAN URE.
AS I SAID BEFORE I WANT ARSENAL TO WIN EVERYTHING !!! THIS STUPID STUBBOURNESS IS TAKING THE PISS OUT OF ALL OF US.
I would really like to know what those arsene knows idiots are saying today…
Because in the wenger utopia that they believe in there all thinking we are still going to win the league.
BOLLOCKS, crap like this will get you the sack in any top european club all weger knows is as long as the money’s coming in and not going out he’s the boards
    MAIN MAN …
PLEASE GO AT THE END OF THE SEASON AND LETS START AGAIN WITH A MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE IN PLACE THAT TAKES FAILURE INTO ACCOUNT, AND HAVE PEOPLE THAT HURT WHEN WE WIN FUCK ALL!!!!!

  79. Geoff

I would sign Benzema, but we know he won’t, more like Ben Arfa because he’ll be half the price, I would also keep Ade, I remember for the first season that Drogba was at Chelsea, they hated him, 24 is still young for a striker, that’s why Theo is so impressive, I would take Drenthe from Madrid too he never gets a game and Schneider.

  80. Bradley

paulinho, you make a good point; I’m not saying make him our main striker – but to SELL him, when our squad’s so thin, are you on crack? (in a nice way)

  81. Trinidad_Gunner

Sneijder would be great but Madrid won’t let him go … not for what Arsene will want to pay

  82. Bradley

i wonder what’s more ridiculous – the ‘arsene must go at the end of the season’ strikeforce or the ‘arsene knows’ brigade

  83. Trinidad_Gunner

Berkamp applied to get his badges.

“Bergkamp told Dutch magazine Sportweek recently that : “Being out of the game is beginning to itch”, and it has been reported that he has now been installed as 16/1 to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager at some point in the future.”
    -Setanta

  84. lMwalenga

    For real, Wenger doesnt know.
He is an old stubborn idiot as far as winning is concerned. The result should wake up Arsene ( the old shit)- when you buy average players, you get average results. When you play shit players ( Eboue, Senderos) you get shit results. Last nites result was shit. Who does Wenger think he is anyway? The club has plenty of money to spend and he keeps farting on the sentiments of AFC fans worldwide.
Wake up Wenger. You have turned yourself into an average coach no wonder Mourinho and Sir Alex have such alow opinion of you.

  85. Paulinho

But Wenger won’t use rotation. He will just keep flogging Adebayor all game very game, like he does with Fabregas.

As I said, I think he would be a wonderful super sub.

  86. Geoff

Berkamp Henry dream ticket, interesting eh? I don’t want Wenger togo, just spend some money and get rid of Lehmann, Eboue, Rosicky, Senderos and sadly Gilberto.

  87. SIMON MCAHON

WHAT PRICE FOR A FREE SCORING BOBBY PIRES , HE’S HAVING A BLINDING SEASON WITH VILLAREAL ,surely he would have played 24 games, instead we get stuck with sicknote NO 7,
Dont be suprised to see him turn out for the cezs at the euro’s he always finds a way to play for them when he’s not fit for the team that pays his wages.
WE NEED FOUR WORLD CLASS PLAYERS , TO EVEN THINK ABOUT CHALLENGING AGAIN FOR THE TOP HONOURS,,,

  88. brendon gunner

I’ve been an avid fan of this blog, never commented before and have been reading all the comments religiously. I agree that wenger is stubborn when he didnt buy any established/reliable player in january. And of course when he didnt play walcott earlier yesterday, (damn i hate eboue’s guts). But those who wants wenger to go is abit over the top, i feel. I dont take all those arsene knows crap but i still think he is a great manager and maybe, just maybe he’ll buy wisely this summer. Huntelaar anyone? And i seriously think that we shld go all out for petr cech, although he is also sometimes injury prone.

If he wont spend, i think We need to get our voices heard. Start a petition-something…

And one more thing, i noticed when we were one nil up, the pool crowd was still cheering ‘LIVERPOOL’ ‘Liverpool’ all the way. They seem to have confidence in their team. But somehow we just cant do that, if we are one nil down i would be bitting my nails and will be damn pissed (esp at useless eboue). somehow we never have that confidence in the team to begin with.
    Anyways,
Keep up the good work on this blog guys, I look to your post everyday.

  89. Paulinho

This summer will be interesting. Either Wenger will buy nobody and spout his usual babble about ‘the tremendous quality’ in the squad, which will lead to a large section of fans having a coronary through frustration, or Wenger will buy three or so players while at the same time trying to save face and not be seen to be abandoning his youth project.

My guess is he will tread the line somewhere in between and leave yet another weak area untouched over the summer, which means by this point next year this site will be even more hilarious than it is now.

  90. Geoff

Cheers Odub! Paulinho I think you may have a point, he’ll never dump Phil or Rosicky though, I think ditto for Ade, but Gilberto, Lehmann and possibly Eboue he will, so I can see a nobody coming in as goalie a central midfielder for Gilberto, but someone from France or Croatia and maybe Ben Arfa and that’s it.

What we need though is a lot more, but then he’d have to admit he was wrong.

  91. Geoff

Good night Choy, I’m off too.

We all love Arsenal, that’s why we’re here, we don’t always have to agree though!

  92. Paulie

Arsene Wenger , the new Comical Ali. Theres fuck all difference, none in fact. From now on let Wenger be known as COMICAL ALI

  93. suicidalsam

what are you guys talking about? Arsenal should not leave. he just needs to change his ways a bit just a bit. robinho would be a nice addition :D should buy David Villa most definitely.

does anyone know why martin keon left arsenal? when he was the defensive coach, we didnt conceed many goals and the defense looked a lot tighter.

    @ Paulinho

I don’t think we should sell hleb, he is a good player (doesn’t know how to shoot tho) he works hard for the team and sucks in quite a few defenders with his plays which leaves other players free.

on ADE: he is a striker, why does he always try to come out to the left flank like henry did when he doen’st posses any quality instead of going inside the box for the attacking players to cross the ball to. many of time i have seen this happen and there was absolutely no one in the center to cross the ball to. how can we score goals when there are no strikers in the box to receive crosses?

I wish wenger buys villa in the summer, he could fit in with arsenal pretty easily.

  94. alex

anyone know about fred from lyon?
great striker and hes only 23.
eduardo showed great potential as a poacher but with him gone we need anoher especially if arsene wants to keep his job.
and per mertesacker would be an AMAZING signing. he is 6’6 AND fast

but then again its arsene so we will probley pick up some unkown french kid that takes another 4 years to develop.

THEO TO START VS. MAN U!!!!!!!

  95. ethan_gunner

    gooner p !
well done mate summed it up in 2 sentences for me

For me to be excited about next season half current squad needs to be gone…. & to be replaced with proven quality players, but thats not gonna happen…

WHY ? because we all know wenger .. and its you guys that have opened my eyes to it !
It isn’t going to bloody change any time soon is it ? for his next 2 years of his contract we are going to have to put up with 2 unknown signings and the current youth stock he has .
He has too many names which i blogged out a day or 2 ago .. And now its like.. how the fuck do i give all these kids a run ? because thats what they need to do to make them match ready ! He needs to send 6 or 7 of them out on loan ! minimum …

Only way i can see us getting the message across is to start booing our current team !
I know the other day we were told to support our team , but fans need to start abusing our own team before the board and wenger get off there fat lazy a$$es and inject some quality into this team !

I can hear the arsene knows best brigade start saying .. look at the progress weve made this season !( IM LOOKING ???) your a total plonker for saying we need to boo them !
Well wenger is sitting in a comfort zone of biblical proportions and he’s like the taksin shittytwatt of Thailand .. every bugger was afraid to remove him from power too.. it took him going to America before the thai’s (& the king )called in the army to stop his reign of corruption ! And yes take it from me he’s guilty as charged !!!!!
And now the fucker is running the manC’s ! with blood & corruption money of poor people !, and the FA are doing FA about it ! They have no problem obviously
with dirty money ! i kid you not !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wenger needs to show me he can get in quality .. im not worried if he spends 5 or 50 million , i just want to see quality .. and at least 4 of them ! a goalie-CD-L/R winger- and a striker that will create fear in the oppositions eyes !! and HE has to be a top class PROVEN goal scorer !!!, my bet is robinho . or an up and coming Brazilian player or possibly dutch or German . Not my 1st choice but .. its a start!

But am i dreaming ? YES possibly ..
I can only hope vela comes good – theo takes the spot upfront with a fit RVP
flamini signs and stays .. cesc decides to stay… AGAIN !!!! ( a yearly occurrence)

(& thats why id never sign a YOUNG Spaniard because they rate their football ‘la liga ‘higher than the EPL , so like reyes (and cesc)once they are popular and in demand they want go back home ! fuckin useless ! ) torres is fine he was 23 when he left spain
and knows what its like .. the buzz factor for him is over ! .. he’s settled ! and raffa signed a few good player recently !
Arsene not thinking with his brain since DD left !
Its like a Frankenstein movie and he’s the crazy scientist .
What the fuck are you doing arsene ???
Cant you see the model of what it takes to successfully achieve greatness in the league !??? SPEND!!!!!!!!

oh now i ve finished ranting :)
did anyone see the roma game ? pathetic !!!
they sat rooney and ronaldo on the bench .!!!!!!!!!!!!ready for us !!!

thats not a good sign !

  96. Dazza

We musn’t be looking to the short term (3 years without a trophy crap) – Arsene will get it right…let’s just stick with it, support the team and all will come good…God Bless!

  97. arab gooner

Excellent post ethan .I enjoyed reading it and agree with all of it200%.At least there are some sensible and intelligent people around

  98. ethan_gunner

    arab gooner

cheers arab goon .. I was ranting a bit .. but you know Whilst we have gooner realists
and the arsene knows brigade , it will always be frustrating .. Because arsene will side with his loyalists and state ! Most of the fans believe in me !!! Sooooo ill keep doing what i do best .. (what is that??) losing ?

thats what will happen ! ok we might get a ben arfa or robinho .. even boltons out of contract keeper or so the rumors go ,modric 1/2 the french u21 national team blah blah blah … but in all honesty Unless someone like hleb – Cesc or flamini leaves I doubt we will see any EARTH shattering signings .. they will either be bargain basement throw offs or unknowns who will take time to adapt .. No real SURE THING SIGNINGS !

I listed a few players the other day , that wenger has in the wings .. and i cant see him
abandoning his science experiment any time soon !
He will make it successful even if it kills another season or 2 with nothing !!

then within 2 years we will win some silverware like the C.C and the board will resign him for another term ! because he came good on winning something ! …

And we will always get our victories ! i dont think our team is useless !
i mean we have been top 4 consistently ..
But the threat of other clubs are becoming more real every season ..
the spuds-villa-everton .. thai city …taksin he will want to spend all his money before it can be traced .. they are all up and coming threats !

Who have also improved since last season ( spoken like a true wenger)

Well whatever the future has in store for us .. Im sure it will be worth a rant or 2 in the future ! :)

    peace out !

  99. GMR

Its certainly time that Wenger brought in a defensive coach (bring back keown) & also brought a couple of real quality centre backs.

I would also question whether a player like Ronaldo would be anywhere near as good if he had joined us. I say that because Arsene won’t let his players do weight training as he feels muscle bulk slows them down. Thats the main reason its taken Theo so long to develop as his biggest problem was always his lack of strength, he’s getting better now as he matures & gets some natural muscle!! I can’t see players like Ben Arfa or Robinho being any good at Arsenal because they are quite lightweight & whilst Ferguson would get them straight in the gym, Wenger won’t!!

  100. Pedro

    Fuck me… 428 comments!

Met a guy out last night who was a gooner… he told me about news now and he reads Le Grove!

Then when I left he said,

    ‘Arsene knows!’

    Nice guy though.

  101. Odub

    Morning all,

So Pedro, are you and Geoff like proud parents seeing as your blog has now grown to such extraordinary proportions?!!!

  102. arab gooner

I agree with GMR about Robinho and Arfa.I also question the wisdom of buying such players. We need an old-fashioned style striker who is big and strong like Malcolm Macdonald,Alan Smith or Frank Stapelton. But I know it is not Wenger’s philosophy to buy such players. What can we do.Nothing.We have to wait and see if he comes to his senses soon
