Cesc Fabregas has come out and said he will see out his career if Arsenal want him to, cheery news in a week when we are being written off. The Flamster would do well to up morale by signing now.
Amazing really, 4 draws, second in the league and suddenly we’re shit, for the first time all season we are getting back to full strength and have a whole week off to prepare against one of our competitors, they’ll have a tough game against the spuds and hopefully Drogba will pick up a nasty injury from one of the dirty gits in white.
I would like to stress it’s not nice to wish injury on anyone, but Drogba is a different case and if he and cashley can go down with either an injury or a bout of Ebola (not Eboue though it’s similar and has the same end result) then it’s okay to wish.
They have had it coming and it no surprise that we were the last team to win at Stamford Bridge, so let’s look for a bit of history repeating itself.
The boys are really fired up for it with Robin saying finishing the season with nothing would be a disaster and Kolo calling for the spirit of Milan to return.
Robin said,
‘This is our moment. We all realise we are in a fantastic position and this has to be our year. It’s still in our hands and we have to take it’
It’s still in our hands if we can ramp up our goal tally, and to beat the chavs by 6 would do just that.
As I keep saying if we play like we did in Milan, we’ll beat anyone, it’s not hard, we did it for the first half of the season.
In other news Gold defends the assassin that did for Eduardo so no change there, and we are being linked with Villareal’s Diego Capel, whoever he is? it was some Brazilian kid yesterday, I would quite like a Benzema or an Eto’o or even a Messi, plus Quaresma and Robinho with Buffon in goal, but that won’t happen so I’ll just concentrate on the chavs.
Maybe we should play Eboue to take Terry out and then bring Theo on!
Don’t forget that Theo loves to score against them and with crash helmeted Cech tipped to play he could have a field day.
I think being away from home will be an advantage as our fans will be heard more.
I’ll be an armchair fan for this one as I won’t be going to the Bridge for the first time in 8 years, I hate that place!
I was going to mention Rosicky and his injury woes, but I can’t be arsed, it’s now getting boring.
Have a great day Grovers, a number of you were missing in action yesterday, we put it down to Black Monday.

March 18, 2008 at 10:23 am
I’m sorry about yesterday, I kust could not bring myself to comment on anything remotely positive and as I saw it, nobody needed me heaping more gloom on yesterday’s gloomy of all gloomy Mondays !!!!!!!
March 18, 2008 at 10:30 am
bonjour grovers,
i was reading the “comments” by Gold, what a cunt! do you get teh feeling that this whole incident has been very carfeully manipulated to make us out to be the bad guys?! im so fucked off with it, all everyone has done is either defend taylor on what a geraet guy he is or wouldbnt hurt a fly. even pundits etc, did anyone realise how popular and well known taylor was??!! and in stark contrast wengfer is scum for reacing albeit ott but he RESCINDED it for christs sake. now the porn baron is bitching at cesc for having an opinion which is very close to most gooners, but in the matters of fair play, how can a 3 match ban be enough for “that” challenge?!
if it had been rooney, ronaldo etc can you imagine the up roar? .
up the arsenal
March 18, 2008 at 10:32 am
I was too gloomy to even go to work. I picked up a flu/virus last week and sitting in the west upper on saturday - together with the disappoitring result - made me feel even more unwell.
But, new week and new challenges.
Come on you reds, we’re due a good game now - and what better time than against the Chavs ?
March 18, 2008 at 10:33 am
I’m back in my positivity mode today, morning all.
Watched kenny Sansom on Arsenal TV last night and it made me remember why I love ‘The Arsenal’ so much.
The boys will be bang up for it on Sunday so we should be too.
Come on you Gunners, let’s get firing again.
How weird will it be cheering the Heebies this week?
March 18, 2008 at 10:35 am
Welcome back to my world grovers, I’m feeling up for it this week.
March 18, 2008 at 10:36 am
steve, mate how great was the keeny interview?! i had tears in my eyes as he regaled his favourite highbury moment! the look on bobs face as he said in a geordie shirt was priceless!
March 18, 2008 at 10:42 am
sod the chavs, some nice counter attacking football is what we are going to get, sunday is going to be a very exciting day, we will play our game and we will be behind our boys 100%
March 18, 2008 at 10:44 am
67 + 27 = 94. If we win all our games we’ll not only win the PL but also break the PL record for title winners. If we draw against Chelsea and Manyoo and win our other games we’d still end up on 90 points. Manyoo won the league with 89 last year. We’re in the race big time, there is all to play for.
March 18, 2008 at 10:48 am
cech is the only chelsea injury at the moment -a sprained ankle and no return date .Makes you wonder whether its flamani himself or its his agents that are causing the delay-dont know how bright he is ???
Getting ready to fly back to Uk so will pick up comments( which look like theyre gonna be more positive )tonight -Have a good day posting Grovers
March 18, 2008 at 10:51 am
the 10,000 comment is up for grabs today grovers,
March 18, 2008 at 10:52 am
we will beat Chelsea and United…but we will lose to Bolton, Reading and Sunderland!!
March 18, 2008 at 10:57 am
Mark cunting Clattenberg is doing the game at the weekend.
You know the bloke, the one that gave Chelsea a fucking ridiculous penalty at Anfield and turned down a stonewall one for the Mickeys.
March 18, 2008 at 10:58 am
Lets hope Adebayor can pull his head out of his ar*e this match and perform for us when we really need him to.
RVP is still rusty.
Come on you reds!! Win the remaining games will you!!
March 18, 2008 at 10:59 am
Mark Clattenburg is a c*ck… he loves Chelski and Pool.
Plus his cheeks go rosey red when he’s doing favours for his favoured team!
March 18, 2008 at 11:14 am
I am fucked off with Adewanker opening his fucking mouth every week lately. Does he not realise he is cursing us…….. everytime he gives it large, we fuck up…….. it is all his fault 1) FOR THE ABOVE AND 2) SHOWING HIMSELF FOR BEING AN AVERAGE AND LAZY PLAYER THAT TALKS A BETTER GAME THAN HE PLAYS !!!
Does make me wonder whether he has just been on a Kevin Campbell-esque run of form and now he is back to his mediocre average/useless cunt best ?!!!!!
March 18, 2008 at 11:16 am
Diego Capel. Plays for Sevilla as a left winger. Heck of a player if we could get in. If you think Walcott is fast.. just wait
March 18, 2008 at 11:18 am
Without wanting to run down one of our players I think Adebayor could do with being benched for the Chav game.
The longer he goes on thinking his place is secure the more the complacency will set in.
I”d start with Bendtner and Robin up front and if it doesn’t work up till 65-70 minutes, then maybe bring him on.
One of the things I noticed on Saturday was how woeful Adebayor’s first touch was. plus he was always slow to get back into position once an attack broke down.
Sorry, that’s 2 things.
Amongst the things I noticed on Saturday were….
March 18, 2008 at 11:19 am
Adebayor is a Jabroni
Look up Jabroni in the dictionary.
March 18, 2008 at 11:20 am
I don’t think the contract situ is Flamini’s fault As usual AFC are being tight where they could find a way around it. It could end up like Edu & Pires all over again. As far as tactics is go, we could beat these teams that sit back by banging in crosses -its as simple as that.
March 18, 2008 at 11:21 am
farrukh, is that about the ROCK, WWE
March 18, 2008 at 11:24 am
Ade’s slow running back is so Henryesque, Wenger should tell him it’s costing us.
March 18, 2008 at 11:30 am
Yeah chris it is from the Rock!
It means someone who talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk!! haha
March 18, 2008 at 11:48 am
And also, how comes Fab can be so Fab agaianst Milan and then lose that determing influence against shit teams. The guy works his socks off, so is it those around him that are letting him down with their movement?
I don’t know the answer, but my solution is simple, keep Hleb as the 2nd forward, Whenever he plays that role, Fabregas pulls the strings like a puppeteer. If he wants to play VP, play him out wide, but Hleb in the middle with Fab behind him has been the catalyst for every outstanding performance we have had this season…… FACT !
ARSENE, PLEASE READ THIS !!!!!!!!!
March 18, 2008 at 11:55 am
Bud, I think a factor determining why Cesc’s had wpork on Saturday came to naught was the reliance on, when one of our attackers had his back to the ‘Boro goal instead of passing onto a runner going towards goal, they would pass back out to a sideways runner, thus endlessly going from wing to wing without forward movement.
It’s the reluctance for anyone to take the impetus of the atttack forward which meant ‘Boro were happpy to stand off and just watch the meaningless possession go from side to side in front of them.
OK, this didn’t happen ALL the time, but it happened too often.
March 18, 2008 at 11:56 am
A word for Hleb. Don’t think his comfortable on the left side of midfield - I think it disorientates him….The game against Wigan should’ve brought RVP to play on the Left Wing so Bendtner could’ve stayed instead of Hleb
March 18, 2008 at 11:56 am
The problem is we only play great football when we chase every ball down and don’t give it away, I remember the start of the season when we were all saying 4-4-2 please, it’s not the formation, it’s the mindset.
March 18, 2008 at 12:43 pm
We only have the usual 2,600 tickets for Anfield.
We should give those fuckers the same for our gaff.
March 18, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Yeah, and give them syphilis as well !!!!!!
March 18, 2008 at 1:22 pm
we need goals.
yeah work rate does count but if no goals to show for it, well that’s just useless.
rvp the saviour!
March 18, 2008 at 1:41 pm
Well said Steve. Why that kind of referee against Chelski?Who is responsible for the appointments of referees.Mark Glattenberg awarded a ridiculous penalty against Liverpool and yet being appointed to control Chelski against Arsenal. What a ridiculous decision!!!!
Gold the Chairman of Birmingham told our Cesc to shut his mouth ,because of somr remarks about the brutal foul by their Taylor on Eduardo.
What a shame a Chairman instead of taking reposibilty of one of his players, try to persuade one and all not to speak and defend that bulldozer
I strongly beleive that Taylor should be banned at least till the return of Eduardo, and when that happened should be send to an infant school teaching of real football
March 18, 2008 at 1:43 pm
If we work hard and shut down, the goals will come.
March 18, 2008 at 1:53 pm
finestcuts the PL record is 95 points set by chelsea in 04/05.
I think.
March 18, 2008 at 2:01 pm
Lets ruffle some feathers….
I think le boss should go 4-5-1
Almunia
sagna—– Toure——-Gallas——Clichy
…………Flamster—–Fab4…………….
theo——————Hleb————RvP
—————Bendtner——————-
Bench ade and let him come on if we need him..
I think all his sulking needs to be kept in check.
lets go gunners
l’arse 2 ….chelski 1
March 18, 2008 at 2:12 pm
sorry guys, we still have the awaiting moderation on because of the arsewipes at the weekend, I’ll take it off soon!
March 18, 2008 at 2:15 pm
congratulations to me on being 10,000 poster!!!
i want my prize
March 18, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Are you the 10,000 poster of a comment? how did you work that one out, way too complex for me but if you are an award will be forthcoming! well done Chris!
March 18, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Yeah Chris? Explain!
We’ve had 8,540 comments?
March 18, 2008 at 2:46 pm
I want a prize for having the ability to count.
March 18, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Has odub developed Rosickyitus?
March 18, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Hey Lem you’re right, I somehow thought it was 93 points but yes Chelsea managed 95 points at the end of Maureen’s first season.
92/93 Manyoo 84
93/94 Manyoo 92
94/95 Blackburn Rovers 89
95/96 Manyoo 82
96/97 Manyoo 75
97/98 Arsenal 78
98/99 Manyoo 79
99/00 Manyoo 90
00/01 Manyoo 80
01/02 Arsenal 87
02/03 Manyoo 83
03/04 Arsenal 90
04/05 Chel$ki 95
05/06 Chel$ki 91
06/07 Manyoo 89 pts
The title race is wide open. We’ve found out the hard way that just because you’re good, it doesn’t entitle you to win all your games…..and the same applies to our fellow contenders this year, Manyoo and Chel$ki. Football’s never plain sailing, which is why
I expect our competitors to find it tough and have their own mishaps. Manyoo’s schedule till the end of the season is littered with banana skins, and we all know that upsets can and do happen, especially when you least expect them.
A title race is a bit like fighting a war, even when you’re losing you must keep fighting, the moment you take your finger off the trigger you might as well surrender. No retreat, no surrender!
What’s the difference between a little shot and a big shot?
A big shot is just a little shot who kept on shooting.
March 18, 2008 at 3:07 pm
i have to disagree with all the comments about dropping Ade to the bench, coz firstly we have had him on the bench before and Bendtner didnt deliver, lets keep him pn with Bendtner coming off the bench he provides an extra punch tha way and although Ade has disapointed us in recent games he is still out best form striker no doubt and we cant start dropping pple at this stage of the race…
V.Persie behind Ade is good in that when the opportunity arises he will take a shot we cant have the same with Hleb but Hleb is good art linking up the play btwin Ade and the mid when playin in that role.i jus feel its abit to late to try out new things like trying V.P in his international role so i cant see us chaging our formation from the one that started against Mboro
_________Almunia
Sagna__Toure__Gllas__Clichy
Eboue__Cesc__Flamini__Hleb
_____________V.Persie
______Adebayor
Bendtner and Walcott ahve done well when they have come on and chaged the pace of the game i dont think either of them is ready for a start jus as yet.I would have loved it and been more confident if Rosicky were to be available for this one but um sure Eboue will do fine(i really really hope he does)..
We Gunner Gunn Em…
March 18, 2008 at 3:09 pm
The mancs only just beat Derby, but the chavs done them 6 nil, it’s all about how you play on the day, and the mancs have to play the chavs, so it’s all still as wide open as red nose’s gob when he’s eating.
March 18, 2008 at 3:10 pm
yeah where is odub?
when you hover the mouse you should see the comment number, ah i remember when it was only 2,000 comments, where does the time go, i wonder is the total i see includ deleted comments,
http://le-grove.co.uk/2008/03/18/cesc-ill-stay-at-arsenal-for-life-are-you-listening-flamini/#comment-10000
any word on flamster actually speaking over the weekend, all comments seem to be taken from the match program and a lot has happened since then!
whats happened to the joke section, surely spurs being beaten again is a worthy addition!
March 18, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Derby were unlucky, i got to see it on setanta, i know we can never depend on anyone doing us any favors, but the arrival of man u to town does spark an increase in most teams performance,
unfortunatly for us it means a team will defend for 90 mins, these last draws have seen us dominate for the latter periods with no real fear of a goal coming from the opposing team
March 18, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Casicky,
I don’t think Bendtner has started that many games yet - I can recall 2, 3 at most, and although he wasn’t completely outstanding I still believe it’d be worth giving him the nod.
Adebayor has been disappointing for a while now and I definitely feel Adebayor would benefit from a reminder that his place isn’t gauranteed - a little motivation could help him out of his comfort zone.
Strangley enough, last season he seemed to work harder - he was chasing down defenders back passes, hassling the oppo’s goalies - none of that this season.
March 18, 2008 at 3:41 pm
i did read he was tired, but that is bollox he is an athlete and if he is not then he can fuck of with grimandi and become a scout!
his work rate did seem more fluent last year and was pressing in maybe he thinks his feet are well under the table?
may be he should be benched for a spell?
March 18, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Agreed Chris,
and the flip side of this is that Bendtner deserves a chance as it’s not fair to not start him if Adebayor is not performing.
(In any case, how can it be tiredness on Adebayor’s part ? The team had a week to prepare for the Boro game).
March 18, 2008 at 3:57 pm
yeah charybdis1966, i would give him the nod over ade, something needs to happen and quickly,
nikki might well partner rvp in the long run, with walcott getting a starting place also, he is becoming an exciting prospect but i do feel we have been waiting eons to say and fell that, again if he was signed in jan we might be saying different things but i really hope he becomes as good as we all hope he will,
March 18, 2008 at 4:03 pm
With no firm return date in sight, Czech midfielder Rosicky is having to put up with being a frustrated spectator.
“It is pretty irksome. I still cannot start full training,” he said.
“There is nothing I can do, but wait and hope that the injury goes away.”
March 18, 2008 at 4:15 pm
This is one of the draw backs of a small squad - lack of competition for places.
The only upside you have is not struggling to keep eveyone happy as you have to for players in a large squad. Unless you have a squad of Winston Bogardes, players want to be involved and playing in matches.
As for Rosicky - as I’ve said before he needs to be offloaded and an established left winger brought in.
March 18, 2008 at 4:21 pm
bottom line is the season is over for him, he is going to be rusty when ever that happens, but might give us something for the CL final!
March 18, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Who will buy him with his injusry record. Just keep him for next season as an added bonus player and fill his position on a full time basis with a new player (which no doubt will be Vela in Wengers tight arsed world of player purchasing !!!).
March 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm
pompey will, they have a eye for a bargin!
March 18, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Whoever buys Rosicky will insist on a “pay as you play” pricing policy.
If only we had done that - we’d have got him for peanuts !
March 18, 2008 at 4:48 pm
No West Ham’s your man, Dyer, Upson and Freddie will tell you that. Who cares anyway, did he offer to pay back his wages? did he fuck, greedy crocked cunt.
March 18, 2008 at 4:49 pm
true i forgot about the donkey sanctuary,
March 18, 2008 at 4:52 pm
my crystal ball has just informed me van the man will score the winner this weekend, then the dutch team are gonna crock him in their friendly to fuck us right up!
March 18, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Geoff,
do you mean Freddie is the greedy so and so, or Tomas ?
March 18, 2008 at 4:59 pm
anything in your crystal ball about big willie banging in a goal?, andy c
id say he meant thomas, charybdis1966
March 18, 2008 at 5:13 pm
You could say the same for Matty(Upson) - he was frequently out.
March 18, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Charybdis I meant Tomas, if I had as much time off as those guys, I would feel guilty and pay it back.
March 18, 2008 at 6:40 pm
to be fair he is due a goal, he should be bang up for it at their shit tip of a ground, now you mention it he has to be worth a dabble for an anytime scorer?
March 18, 2008 at 7:25 pm
the last player to say he was staying for life was …………… henry ……………..more bolox …………. the only people who are there 4 life is the supporters
March 18, 2008 at 8:26 pm
and while you are at that… only a few supporters..
cesc is only 20.. when u first fall in love.. u tell the world that u will only marry that girl…
and then what happens… you grow up!!!!
March 18, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Gt news from Cesc. Heard the same a few years ago from PV TH Marc Overmars and Nik Anelka. Just Hope Cesc is different
March 18, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Aww poor Cescy. His youthful naivety is being criticised. Still has the right attitude - he’s a player we won’t want to lose for a while regardless.
