Flamini is of course a free agent so any team would be after him but until he signs a new contract, this speculation will go on.
I don’t understand why it always seems to take for ever when signing a contract, how much? How long? and where do I sign? Doesn’t seem overly complicated does it?

I think Theo will spring to life if he’s given a central role and with Rocking Robin knocking, we’re not far from salvation, I really think we’ll stuff Villa on Saturday and go on to win the league with games to spare.
John Carew worries me a tad, but I think Theo is the key as he will be trying to show he is a better player that Agbonlahor and Young.

Excellent points all across Geoff. I will just hinge on one. The contract situation that has plagued Arsenal for ages. (Ie. Edu, Wiltord, Pires, Henry etc).
Yes, there is something truly fishy going on. As far as I am concerned no other team deals with the same contract disputes as Arsenal. Two points can, in my eyes, account for this:
1. Arsenal is a very traditional club, where tha management (in this case mostly Wenger), call the shots. The players have always been thaught that it is an honor to represent the Arsenal and the team is always the main priority. Thus, there is little priority treatment of individual players, also with regards to their salaries. Remember a few years back when Arsenal had to lift their internal salary cap to accomodate Henry. And even then it was only done as a last resort.
2. The Arsenal is still a highly efficient team from an economical point of view. Not only do we buy our players for chump change, often we pay them equally (please do not consider this as critiscism, it is in fact something I am particularly proud of). At the same time the Arsenal players recieve enormous exposition and most (even some reserve players) are full internationals. There appears to be some disparity in the eyes of the players in being considered some of the best players in the world playing for one of the greatest (and richest) teams in the world, and seeing players with considerably less talent being paid greater sums.
And I did try to keep it to two points, but there is in fact a third. Greed! At the end of the day, we must not be led to believe that footballers are in any way different from any one else (in effect most of them are uneducated, and come from socially challanged back grounds – not that there is anything wrong with that). But we tend to believe that players would choose loyalty and success on the pitch ahead of money. That may be true for some players, but these are unfortunately becoming a minority.
Hence, Flamini knows full well that if he shoudl decide for his career on purely footballing reasons, there is no better place than Arsenal. But he also knows that he would make perhaps even twice as much elsewhere. And I am not sure that I can blame him if he chose the money.
Just don’t come out and claim you do it for the love of the game, and all the usual tripe. Be honest (unlike a certain Mr. Cole, who appears incapable of anything resembling even modest human decency -let alone honesty). The fans would not be happy, but they would understand. And I believe pretty much everyone I have talked with have wanted the club to just pay him what he wants. Nothing outregaous, but the more Flamini gets, the less there is for unmentionable Uzbech “Businessmen”.

I think the way flamini has improved so dramatically may have alerted many a top manager to his service. He is not just the midfield enforcer, he can pass precisely and qucikly to keep the mometum of an attack up ( the very opposite of gilberto ) and he has got a lethal stirke on him as witnessed by villa and geordie fans this season. He is still only 23/24 so will continue to improve unitl he peaks in 3/4 years time.

JUst recovered from yesterdays 6 hour lunch with Geoff -so much for the so called laser treatment I couldnt see a fuckin thing on the way home .
Three things I remember -The right then left handed arm wrestling competition -Dont ask but suffice it to say I didnt win.
Secondly got a bollicking for my atroshuus spelling -Thats like being motivated by Gallas eh !!!
