Humiliated and Exposed – Arsene clearly does not know.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

The teams were announced and I wasn’t that surprised to see the Mancs missing Ronaldo and Tevez. The team Arsene put out didn’t look too bad but I was a bit concerned about our full backs being exposed. Traore has been shit in every game he has played this year and Hoyte, though improved is still a bit of a liability.

I don’t want to give a blow by blow account of action, so I’ll just list my thoughts as they occurred.

The passing was off big time. It is surprising how Gilberto’s inclusion fucks up any rhythm the team normally has.

The first goal we conceded came from a corner… Nikki B once again failed to clear properly from a corner (Never let the man in our box again…), Anderson nodded it into the box and Rooney out jumped Hoyte (surprise) and nodded past Lehmann. Could Lehmann have done better? I thought so.

The second goal was a Nani creation. He cut the ball back, mugging Hoyte… crossed the ball in allowing ManU’s top goalscorer Gallas to bang in the second.

The Third goal happened when Traore was out of position, roasted by Anderson who slipped a cross over the head of Gallas allowing Nani to slip in.

Great defending. Thank God Arsene is only resting Sagna and Clichy. Those two are truly invaluable.

The forth goal went in when Senderos miss judged a cross and Fletcher powered a header home, I am sure one of the dreadful duo got done by Nani again…

Kolo looked out of sorts big time. Gallas was poor as well. Could Senderos be and option for Milan?

Lehmann looked dodgy as well, I hope he can learn how to kick the ball by Wednesday.

Eboue is a shite player, a failed right back turned failed winger. He offers us nothing, bar bringing the name of the club into disrepute. I am glad he got sent off today and not in an important Champions league game or crucial Prem match. He is a silly cunt, what was he thinking when he chopped the Manc player down? Out of control and in my mind he should fuck off somewhere else because he just doesn’t have enough talent to merit his baggage.

I have to say I do feel sorry for players like Hoyte, Bendtner and Traore. They are like cannon fodder… Out of their depth big time and only played when it doesn’t really matter about the result. Bendtner needs to take a long hard look at himself, he has a huge ego which isn’t justified.

This really hurt. I don’t care what anyone says, I can’t stand the fact we have been humiliated by two of our rivals in the space of a month. My text inbox is filled with Manc texts. I even had a spud fan text me at half time,

‘Do you think ManU will score more than we did against you in the cup?’

I hate Spurs fan, but at half time, I was wondering the same.

I feel sorry for the 9000 traveling Arsenal fans. Try telling them its ok because we were resting players for Milan.

I don’t buy the ‘resting players’ argument either (and if you don’t believe they were rested, wait until Wednesday). They are paid extortionate amounts of money to play a sport they enjoy, they should be happy to be battling on so many fronts. If Chelsea and ManU can do it, why can’t we? If you don’t have the squad to compete for 4 trophies, maybe we should purchase a few players with the £80 million we have in the bank? Everyone knew there were 4 trophies at the start of the season, right? It would be nice to get a big club mentality now we have our shiny new stadium.

What makes this all an even bigger joke is the fact Arsenal had the cheek to put season ticket prices up again. We pay for the most expensive tickets in the world and can’t even fight on 4 fronts? Its like buying a Ferrari and finding out your one only has 2 gears.

Just one final bitch. What were we thinking of letting Diarra go? We didn’t sign a replacement, even though it was blatantly obvious Gilberto was not good enough to replace Flamini. We could have done with him today. Diarra was a big headed egotist, but we could have waited till the end of the season before letting him go, who cares if he sulked, he signed a contract. Surely Arsene’s priorities lie with Arsenal, not Diarra’s happiness?

Actually, I lied because I have another gripe. The BBC commentary. How much do those sorry, paid up, Rooney loving pricks hate Arsenal? They defend every ManU foul, they rave about every ManU pass and just generally wax lyrical about them. We muted them. Singing Peado songs at Arsene Wenger after kicking up such a fuss over the Busby Babes memorial reeks of hypocrisy. The Manc fans should be ashames, so should the BBC for not mentioning it.

Blogger Geoff rang up Talk Sport once to ask why they spend so much time talking about ManU, they told him it was because they are told to talk about them the most. ITV screen more Manc games than anyone else and it would seem the BBC are following the pack. MoTD pundits have been putting us down all year, and they loved today.

Back onto the game.

The question’s that need to be asked are these:

Will this affect team moral?

Will Hleb and Cesc recover from this?

Will Toure and Gallas sort it out by Wednesday?

I am sorry if this article has come across negative but at the end of the day, I am not here to blow smoke up Arsene’s ass. Everything went wrong today, and prioritising competitions is not a guarantee for success.

Please don’t come on here and post ‘Arsene knows’ comments, because he got it seriously wrong yesterday and being an Arsenal fan of 20 years justifies my right to the opinion that sometimes Arsene gets it hugely wrong. He did today, I am devastated and like I said earlier, 9000 dedicated Arsenal fans trekked up to Old Trafford and braved to cold to watch that. They should get a refund out of the players wages, I’m sure it will work out less of a hit on their pockets than it did on the fans.

That said, I still have some positivity in me!

Read the silver lining(s) below!

  • This was a hugely understrength team.
  • No Clichy, Sagna, Flamini, Almunia, Adebayor, Rosicky, Cesc or RvP. That is a shed load of talent missing.
  • We didn’t drop any points. Ask a Manc what they’d prefer, 5 points clear or a Quarter final place in the F.A Cup… most wont pick the latter.
  • The 5-1 humiliation against Spurs G’d us up, it didn’t affect our confidence at all, it just made us more hungry. Could this be another kick up the arse?
  • After seeing Ade, the Flamster and Senderos running around like lunatics, I am sure the other key players are not injured. Its not insider knowledge, its logic.
  • Finally… it wasn’t Barnsley.

We’re out of two cups, humiliated twice… lets hope things are put right mid week because I’m starting to get that ground hog day feeling.

  1. Phobia

I’m too frustrated with Wenger and his bloody excuses,I want Wenger to take all matches seriously because of records.(5-1)(4-0) This is very bad

  2. jammathon

Knee jerk reaction. Arsene did not want his players injured. All the blogs have had terrible reactions to the game. I only wait to hear what Arseblog has to say with baited breath.

  3. James Woodford

AW by his reluctance to spend has only himself to blame. diarra was allowed to leave without any replacement. I know things aint easy for players on the bench but this a problem faced by all repeat all managers.
We need a response just like the red faced says his mu needed one.
Defeat by AC and the vultures will be swarming about Arsenal’s so called mental strength.
However it would be really unthinkable to lose to BC who have 14 days rest compared to three. That is apoor excuse if Arsenal don’t win.

  4. Pedro

I am a fan, its how I feel and its why I blog. Who cares what Arseblog post?

I don’t want to read a blog where someone sugar coats that performance. Its was shite.

We’re out of two cups and whatever happens this season, we got beaten by Spurs 5-1 and ManU 4-0.

Did Ade, Flamini and Senderos look injured when they came on? No…

It doesn’t matter anyway we pay all that money for our tickets so we have a squad to deal with injuries.

  5. Geoff

Poor game I hope they donate the salries to charity, they didn’t have a clue and nor did the manager.

When will he realise that Eboue isn’t good enough and nor is his attitude.

We should try and win every game and every competition, that team was going to win fuck all.

  6. Gooner

I ve been reading your blogs for a while now, not for the fact i think you’re great blogger but becos you re generally pessimistic view atleast keeps me updated with arsenal’s (possible) problems… Getting to the point they didnt play well yesterday cos they just werent interested… anybody including mancs could see that… we didnt have a shot on goal the entire match as far as i can rememeber… yes we were shambolic… we werent motivated… they were… that was the difference… And though star players were missing on both sides carrick, fletcher, park, nani, anderson etc have much more first team experience (league and internationally) compared to hoyte, traore etc… Manu is a finished product…. We arent… dont delude yourself… We have gotten so far on talent and grit…. Please be patient…. A dominating team takes time to build… I agree the scoreline hurts but these are the times your team and manager needs unequivocal support….

  7. Mike (the neighbour)

Well written Pedro and well thought through-the best way to silence the BBC bias is to win and Arsenal never looked like it .Rooney looked as though he had been sharing drugs with Dwayne Chambers .No Passion by Arsenal -whatever the strength of the team being played. There was no willingness to win -Maybe united closed them down too much .Then half time after Arsenes pep talk He really should talk to them like geoffs last post yesterday-that had passion in just a few “cunting sentences ” THis was however interpreted as “get dirty” by some -thick or what ? and eboue should be sidelined permanently.THis hopefully will be a wake up call and if United can pull themselves up after the Derby loss where they played like tossers as well then there is no reason to believe it cant be done -the spuds defeat showed it can be .
The fear is everythings gonna slip and you guys have been there before so you must be really twitchy and I feel your pain .However Pedros right to point to some silver linings -and it aint over till the fat lady sings and she aint quite up on to the stage -YET !

  8. Geoff

They get our support, we pay a fortune for our tickets and we write this blog, but supporting them after that abject display borders on sucking up, and we won’t do that.

I didn’t sleep last night and I feel sick this morning, they did that, it was obvious before the game started they weren’t good enough and so it proved.

If you want to read a blog that support that rubbish yesterday go to http://www.arsenal.com you’ll be happy there.

  9. rob

Bout time wenger spent some of the money that hard working fans pay into the club with no returns! January was a good time to strengthen the squad but no! we’ve got a good enough squad, we shall see

  10. Geoff

Spot on Rob, spend our money. Then the players we bring on will be good ones, they bring in Nani and Anderson, we bring on Hoyte and Traore.

  11. Steve

Sorry, I dont buy the ‘they are well paid so they can play lots of games’ argument. If someone paid you a million to run 100 miles, you would still be knackered. Lets, be honest, the FA cup doesnt mean that much to us anymore. Apart from the double years, we have won in 2003 and 2005. It was scant consolation for the inability to defend our title. Also, the first time we get knocked out in the 4th since Arsene’s very first season we reach the final of the Champions League. Last season’s replays took its toll and Arsene knew this. Im sorry for the fans who travelled and who stayed til the end and it was a terrible performance, but we are still top and playing Milan on Wednesday.

Speaking of Milan, Kaka was back for them but they still fired blanks. They are not that good and we will show them up.

  12. Pedro

I agree Steve, I am not saying that because they were paid that much money they shouldn’t be tired, I just think that we pay our players the same as Chelsea and ManU pay their players… so why do so many of ours need resting compared to the other 2 teams? Our players are much younger!

It was more a case of desire last night, the back up didn’t really look interested? The FA cup isn’t that important, but it is important not to get completly tanke 4 days away from an important game.

I think we’ll do milan, but there are still 6 games after that to get to the final.

  13. Gooner

let me put it this way… spending a fortune on your tickets doesnt guarantee success in every match… I would like to sympathize with you but thats just the way it is… But if its your money you worry about dont forget there’s always chelski… things are done a particular way at arsenal and i wouldnt want it any other way… I love arsenal for what it is glaring loopholes or not… As much as i hate to admit it SAF probably has his best squad ever…. and our fringe players against theirs is a horrible mismatch… there are million pound loans to think about and all you guys want is next good result to reminisce for a few hours over a beer… Running a club takes more than that… supporting the club too…

  14. Gooner

I wouldnt be happy to have the just the FA cup to show at the end of the season after the great start we ve had…. Grow up guys there’s bigger fish to fry…

  15. chris

a lot sorry arsenal fans today, you are certainly right about the biased commentary for sure, if we give a bad tackle its a disgrace when rooney didnt give the ball back its was laughed at as “good ole rooney”
i too feel sorry for traore and hoyte, they were totally out of there dept, man u wanted it far more than our guys did, to justify that a win on wedsnesday is all we can accept.
however look at liverpool this morning and smile, one of the two top teams was going to lose yesterday, they are going to sack Benítez surely,. there only chance of silverware this year,
i fucking hate manu fans but i dont give a fuck about the team

  16. Geoff

I’m not only a season ticket holder, I’m a shareholder and have never had a dividend, we have £80mil available for players but won’t spend it, the players we do buy are injured all the time so it’s time to learn, and time to spend some of the money we have, and get some class players in, we are one of the biggest clubs in the world but watching yesterday, you wouldn’t know it.

Christ even Barnsley had more that 1 shot.

Believe me I understand what it takes to run a club.

  17. Steve

I agree that the lack of desire was a adisgrace but to say everyones shit and wenger doesnt know is just too short sighted. Would I prefer they bust a gut and lose 2-1 and be tired for the Milan game? No. We didnt even have our reserve players fit like Denilson, Diaby, Djorou and Theo. Im not saying they would have won, but at least they would have wanted it alot more than first teamers thrust into a game they care less about than the Milan game.

  18. clock end goon

As one of the many who went to the game yesterday, I feel let down. It’s a long schlep north to watch that kind of performance, and there is nothing worse than 70000 Mancs giving you all sorts of grief.
Basically now, we have NO exuse for not winning the title this season. We are in a great position and let’s just hope we can turn this into a positve like we did after the Spurs game.
‘We’ll be back to win the league’ was the chant yesterday. I just hope that comes true.

  19. Steve

Geoff, yes we do have 80m in the bank. But the fact that we dont spend it means we are in a stronger position to fend off takeover attempts. We can point to our position in the Prem and say we STILL have 80m so fuck off you cunts, we dont need you money.
Chelsea spent 9m on a defender called Ivanovic. Like you I have never heard of him or seen him play football. NINE MILLION POUNDS. If we bought him to cover people would be more content, purely because we spent money. But he hasnt played for Chelsea and by default would not be good enough to play for Arsenal. Another example-Anelka is a good signing but what happens when Drogba is back? Will they ditch the 4-3-3? Or play Anelka wide thus wasting his talents?

Money is the answer to ALOT of things, but not everything, especially in football

  20. Pedro

Shouldn’t first teamers always be up for games against ManU? Their first teamers were hungry for it?

Gooner, spending loads on your season tickets doesn’t guarantee success, but it should at least guarantee you a squad that can cope with 4 competitions?

I didn’t mean Wenger doesn’t know in general. I just meant that I didn’t want people to come on here and say ‘Wenger knows’ as some sort of justification for yesterday.

The FA Cup wouldn’t have been a satisfactory season, but if things go wrong in the other competition… it can soften the blow at the end of the year.

Clock end goon, I feel for you buddy… that drive back is a killer even when you win.

  21. ewan

Last weekend, Arsenal was reported to be the Championship side and ManU on the cecline. This weekend, the media reports the reverse. Its only one game. Clearly, the equation does not change in just one game. The truth is that the EPL teams are getting really competitively closed and even a slight dip in form will result in dropped points. Arsenal will still be champions in Mauy 2008

  22. Gooner

Well Id just have to say Wenger does it his way. Arrogantly? yes… You just have to decide whether you re with him or not… But his talents, our scouting system and our brand of football are what makes us the most admired team by neutrals… Id rather not sacrifice all that by getting a few class players and listening to claims of a bought trophy… I am going to swallow yesterdays result only believing the season will be fruitful in the end… if we manage to that, get our stadium out of the loan loop soon i really do think the prices will drop dead… Our football is more appreciated mind you than chelski’s trophies and records… I would rather arsenal remains unique in its own way… plus a few trophies please…

  23. Geoff

The fact is yesterday, everyone was shit and to me that’s unacceptable, you should always play your best, I would sooner we lost 10 nil as long as we tried.

This blog loves Arsenal and we praise them every day, but when we’re shit, that needs to be said as well.

    I can only remember 1 shot, that’s 1 shot in 90 minutes.

  24. Cesc

    Positives:

We are out of he FA Cup. Manure are still in it.

Manure have a fake sense of confidence which will soon burst.

Eboue is off for 3 games.

Right! I really do not care. We lost yes but we can now focus on the two biggest competetions. Tbh I dont even care if we lose to milan. All I want this year is the league. By hook or by crook I want us to win it, we need it.

We also needed this ass kicking incase we got complascent. A lot of people thought this will be a close game I knew it would be a thrashing. Every time we have gotton thrashed we have bounced back.

We win the League and I wont give a fuck about this result. I will be absolutly honest. The bham draw at home hurt me more than the loss to the spuds or the mancs yesterday.

  25. Geoff

I hope you’re right Cesc, I feel the same, I would prefer the FA cup, but the Premier league is the one.

We need to win Wednesday to get some confidence back though.

  26. Goonerman

I wrote to David Gill last Monday by recorded delivery post about the abusive chanting at AW by manu fans. I mentioned that they demand respect and so they should respect others. To date no reply. I am in the mood to write to other parties.

I am thinking that I should now write to the FA, Premier league, Manchester Police and Manchester Local newspaper.

  27. rich

i totally agree with cesc, for me its the league,we now have at least one probably two less games to worry aboutalso ,if we get past milan,we will be grateful for not having an fa cup semi final in the middle of champions league quarter final….

  28. mutafaca

gosh last time when we got beaten by spuds i got sick and lost in semi finals and third placing in an indoor football competition.

this sucks. it sucks to lose.

this time i slept 10 hrs straight to get over this lost.

  29. arsenaldo

Im gutted as all of you guns and agree with most of comments here, bar this of blaming Venger for last night disaster. Most of the first half he was waving to the players in desbelief of what were they doing, which clearly means they didnt follow his instructions at all.
As for our squad- I dont thing its thin at all, as we have 25 first team players. Unlucky is that half of them are now injured. Another thing is that just about 17-18 are good enough to be Arsenal players-the rest should be replased ASAP. I wont say names -we all know who they are.
And the players should try to forget this game ,no matter how tough it sounds. They are pro’s and get payed well for doing their job. As we do our job to support and critisize the team when we should.
Heads up Guns -we should beat tired and old(but experienced) Milan on wednesday which I hope will help us forget yesterday !

  30. Geoff

The reason we’re upset with Wenger is the team selection, given the opposition, and when we were 3 nil down at half time, he should have made changes, but he didn’t and that to me said he thought we could turn it around, or we were Ok.

You saw the game. You work it out.

Anyway, we said our bit, it’s now onto the next test, we will need probably a two goal lead, and cannot allow them a goal.

  31. Gunnersaurus

    afternoon chaps.

Fucking gutted. Gutted for the fans. Gutted for Wenger. Gutted we got dumped out of another cup to a rival.

I live up wigan way these days, so I am going to get ribbed by smug Mancs all day on Monday.

Arsenaldo, I know what you are saying. Wenger picks these players because he believes in them (Wrongly or rightly), the least they can do is show some passion.

A lot of people are talking about a knee jerk reaction, but I don’t buy that. When you get spanked for playing an understrength team in 2 cup games, you have a right to complain. Its not knee jerk to feel pissed at this performance. I wont wake up tomorrow and go, you know what, everything is alright and I’m fine with getting done by the mancs because it is for the greater good.

I want to win all the cups.

Still, procrastinating isn’t healthy. Lets have our moan up today, and look forward to the milan game on Wednesday.

We’re still in a great position in the league, and if we do well in our next few games, we’ll be able to look forward to a glorious finish.

    Heads up gooners!

  32. lc

Even Aston Villa could trash us with that line up that includes Gilberto as our main holding midfield with Fabregas who is a natural attacking MF and the like of Hoyte/Traore as full-back. AW did the same at White Hartlane, we ‘ve got trashed 5-1. I don’t like his current policy of chosing competitions we should play for; because he has repeated lining up a poor formation and we’ve got trashed in the past by 6-2, 5-1 and now 4-0, while he refuses to sign players prefering saving £5milions on Diarra and not finding a replacement.
The consequence of selecting competions is huge:
-By losing to our arsh rival to such embarrassing defeat 4-0, we won’t scare many teams in the league and from that defeat, they will learn how to beat us.
    - This could do very bad on team moral.
    - There are players who hate such defeat and can do wrong and get themself sent off (Eboue through frustration) and Bentner/Adebayor event; as consequence, we get very thin squad as we did last year after the lost in CC final against Chelsea. We had Adebayor, Eboue and Kolo Toure suspended.
It’s not good for the club image to deliberately set out an unbalanced team like that, just because the competion is not part of your priorities; but the consequences are big, because the lost of team moral with players suspension will catch up with you when playing your favorite competions(CL or Premiership).
At the moment, we are rubbish when Flamini, Adebayor and Hleb are not part of our starting line up. AW should know this, and with regard to our defence, you can’t just make a strong defensive line up with young Traore and Hoyte, even if they were to play along side of Kolo and Gallas, because there no balance there.

  33. Gary

I forked out a lot of money going to the game yesterday and I feel very much ripped off. If you want to read a post that sums up my feelings, read eastlowers. I dont want to read blogs defending last nights shennanigans and though I don’t agree with all the sentiments of this site, i agree with a lot of them.

i.e eboue, the deplorable behaviour of the mancs, Diarra

I hope arsene learns from the mistakes of the last two cup games. Arsenal fans do not deserve to be treated like we were yesterday. The players should be ashamed.

The only thing keeping me positive is being safe in the knowledge our first team can possibly do Milan on Wednesday.

  34. arsenaldo

But Geoff, what subs you suggest Venger should made at half time ,as all the reserves we had were reported with small injuries-read Flam,Clichy,Ade, Phil had a knock as well. I thought its a risk even to put them in the squad, leave alone playing them. We were lucky noone got worse last night ,otherwise we would be critisizing him for playing unfit players.

  35. Geoff

2 top comments those Gunnersaurus and Ic if we had a top comments award, your two would be knocking on the door.

It’s not wrong to want to win everything, and if world class players are sold in January don’t complain in February you have no players.

Especially when you know how bad Gilberto and Traore have been this season.

Anyway as I said before, onwards upwards.

  36. rayzak

I never thought I would be turning the box off and taking the wife out shopping during an Arsenal match against Man u. It was humilating. We have a lot to blame ourselves for being over confident and arrogant.

Our defence is a shambles and our midfield couldn’t hold the ball and do their usual passes. Cesc looked out of form. Going this way I am certain we will not win the league. Feel Wenger has mis judged our games again Spurs and now this. Cannot understand what his objectives were. Other clubs would study last night’s play and learn how to play Arsenal. Close them down, Do not give them the room to play one-touch. Spray the ball and go (Wasn’t Nani fantastic!)

Wenger needs to get out his narcissism and spend the money the club has. All this about criticising other clubs for over spending whilst we are holding back isn’t doing us any good. We need to spend money this summer on our defence and get a first class striker to replace Van Persie (it’s been 2 seasons that he’s out for heavens sake)

  37. Another Steve

I have read all the comments and like all of you very pissed off, and like most trying to find some optimism or positive out of yesterday however the fact was the body language of the players was shit you could sense it and at half time I would have settled for 4 nil. Eboue is an embarrassment we all know that even his dive in the champions league final left nasty taste. I happened to watch the episode of the royal family documentary when the queen was supposed to go to Arsenal and they went to the palace instead. I am not sure but I think Eboue was being a cunt by taking the piss out of say your majesty and disrespectful (actually I am a republican so do not give too hoots about the queen) but I still hate disrespect.

How many days like today have we have had in the last few years…. Not many. Its just we have had two this season in a short space of time. I remember Newcastle tonking manure 4or 5 nil a few years ago but the Mancs still won the league. We will win the league the hurt is too bad. Keep the faith, Arsene did get it wrong yesterday but he loves us all and the club and I have no doubts he is feeling as shit as we are at the moment.

By the way as soon as Shearer thought we would win I new we were doomed!!!

  38. rayzak

Spend the Money Wenger. It’s not yours, its ours!

Get Rid of Eboue and the other trash

Letting Diarra go has given us the diarrhea

    Let’s get a solid defence

Cut out the haughtiness and get down to business

Any one else wants to add to this list?

  39. Evo in OZ

Well it wasnt a very good sleep this morning fellas…i still cant believe i woke up at 4am to watch that shite!

Eboue is a cunt for acting like a cunt. He is a good player (in times gone by), he just needs to attack on the wings like he is told to do and thats it, nothing else!

Regardless of the side that was fielded, i always thought we would win leading up to the game, but the frailties came back to haunt us.

Pedro – spot on in the blog mate, Traore and Hoyte have been rubbish this season! I think i said yesterday in the game we should have been looking for backup left and right backs in the January window. Most other big teams have good back up players in each spot.

I think someone had a crack at Bendtner (which your entitled to do), however i just feel sorry for him, as everytime he gets a start in a good game, the team let him down. Remember the header against the spuds earlier in the season…..I know he does have a big ego, most danes do, but lets give him a go hey?!

I think Milan have been crap this year, so im predicting we will win this game 2-1 or 3-1. The only factor will be who comes out on the pitch to start?

  40. Odub

You know what, I promised myself I wouldnt do anything football related today, and I’ve done well so far, went to the gym, came home, and found myself online again, and I’ve got to get this off my chest, I havent read any other comments so this has probably been mentione already but, how the fuck do we justify going out of the 2 domestic competitions by a four goal margin in the same fucking season to the 2 teams (apart from the chavs) that we should want to lose to the most!! How the fuck do we justify that?!

I mean Pedro’s covered most of it but I still hope someone can explain to me.

    1. Why we still have that cunt Eboue after the way he’s played this season! The guy has always looked like an accident waiting to happen.

    2. Gilberto – respect for your previous efforts, but matey you are now a passanger so tata!!

    3. Hoyte, Traore – if we decide to play these 2, can we at least ensure we’ve got a near on full strength team in front of them or they will get ripped to shreds!!

    4. Our Injuries – WHAT THE FUCK!! 11 players missing at the same time!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!

I had to ignore my mobile for most of today because every text has been the same as the onses i was getting after the 5-1 !! I can’t believe we’ve had to put up with this twice in the same season, all because AW thinks our priority is the PL and CL!! Goodluck with that!!

  41. Evo in OZ

Wenger definitely wants to win the CL, no doubt about that!

As for the league, we all want it back, but i definitely think no one (including Wenger) thought we would be in the current position of 5 points clear with 12 games to go before the season started. So it has definitely now become the priority for sure!

  42. Odub

And another thing, why don’t the good old BBC, Red nose himself or any of the hireachy at Manchseter fucking United ever mention the abuse their fucking fans level at AW? I can’t believe those chants were started again!!!

  43. Geoff

I’ve been to the gym, done some gardening stuck pins in my Arsene doll, done everything to erase the memories of last night, all I have left is beer to make me feel better, don’t know how long I can hold out Grovers

  44. Phobia

To beat Arsenal without Clichy,Sagna,Almunia,Van Persie,Rosicky and Adebayor plus Flamini coming in as substitutes because of half fit,I don’t think Man United played to the Arsenal team that I know.
    Anyway that is football.

  45. Geoff

Middlesbrough I could take Spurs and ManU hurts.

I bet Portsmouth win it and Diarra scores in the final.

Serves us right, Arsene doesn’t always know.

  46. Cesc

Guys dont read too much into this game. Wenger is playing the media he is no fool.

In our back 4 we had 3 changes. A tired Toure, Hoyte, Traore. We were going to get hammered for sure.

When we played Seville we had Traore, Senderos, Toure, Hoyte at the back (correct me if I am wrong). We got hammered.

When we played spuds we had Gallas, Traore, Senderos, Hoyte at the back we got hammered.

Seville had their first team out. Spurs had their first 11. Manure yesterday had their first choice back four (Brown is first choice right now).

Our first choice defense has not conceded more than 2 goals in any game this season. If we had our first team out it would have been a tough game and realistically we could have gotton a draw. Then we wouldd have had 1 more fixture. We would have been knackered for the CL game.

We were not going to win the FA cup. We have to prioritise. Right now we do not have the strength in depth to compete on 3 levels. You guys are not upset because of logical reasons. You are all upset because you hate the stick you are going to get from spuds, manure fans.

Dont worry. Take it right now. It will make the feeling sweeter come end of the season when opefully we will be league champions.

Dont forget to support your team. Wenger knows. Eboue will come good. If you boo him and dont support him then for sure he wont. But until he wears an arsenal shirt I will blindly support him.

  47. Evo in OZ

    My team for Wednesday:
    Almunia
Sanga(Probably Toure seeing it is unlikely Sanga will play)-Gallas-Senderos-Clichy
Rosicky(if fit, otherwise Cesc)-Flamini-Gilberto(otherwise Cesc if Rosicky is fit)-Kleb
    Kanu Jnr-Eduardo
Bench: Fabianski, Toure(Hoyte if Toure starts), Song, Barazite, Bendtner, Diaby (if fit), Nordveit.

  48. Big Raddy

As I understand it, Diarra wanted out and Wenger wanted him to stay. But more importantly, we have THREE replacements for him, and they were all injured. Having seen Song’s defensive midfield performance in the ANC, we have a great player waiting in the wings, Diaby is quality and Denilson has potential. To talk of Diarra is a nonsense, the man is a tosser who felt that Portsmouth – yes ,Portsmouth was better for his future. & that says it all…

  49. Big Raddy

As to yesterdays disgraceful performance, it is the manner of defeat that is so depressing. When the draw came out and we got Utd away, my first thought was that our Cup run was over. In all honesty, we were very lucky to get a draw with them at the Emirates this year, and even more lucky to beat them last year (and Yes, I am a fucking Gooner). Be honest, you thought the same !!

As I say, it is the manner of defeat. Not to give 100% is totally unacceptable. As is Eboue – the man is a lemon.

  50. JohnnyMac

We need to focus on the main competitions. I for one would be gutted if we blew the league and won the FA cup. Arsene DOES know. How many times does he have to prove himself to some of the fickle ones amongst us? We have enough injuries, we don’t need to pick up any more, or we don’t need any more fixtures. With our current sick list, I’m glad we’re out of the cup,.

  51. Pedro

Big Raddy, despite Diarra being a complete idiot, he is a more accomplished player than Denilson and Diaby in the centre. He also has a lot more experience. I don’t think we needed to get rid of him in January… we could have waited till the year was out, or loaned him.

I just want to forget about yesterday and hope Arsenes gamble pays off mid week. They drew yesterday i think?

  52. gazzap

yeah the fucking BBC, that red faced cunt doesn’t even do interviews for them and they still lick his dirty fucking Arse. what a bunch of complete fucking bastards. Their commentary was a disgrace to the profession. sometimes I hate watching us on TV because everyone hates us and loves it when we lose – Shearer and Hansen was slobbering all over each other – could not wait to lay into Arsenal. pricks.
Sky have actually improved this season towards Arsenal. Andy Gray is being nice about us at least.

dont get me wrong we played badly but their commentary made me more angry than the game.

  53. gazzap

sagna’s brother has died and reports are saying he prob wont make the Milan game.
I would use Toure there and keep Sendy and Gallas at CB.

  54. Mike (the neighbour)

Johnnym you may be right and with hindsight this may be a blessing in disguise however BigRaddys point of “not to give 100% is unacceptable “and geoffs “you should always try your best I would sooner we lost 10 nil as long as we tried are two points well taken -I am sure Arsene didnt do his prematch talk as “let them piss all over you cos we can do without this one ” however thats what it seemed like .
Tomorrow is another day grovers -there still is some good stuff going on
    AND
“Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.”

..and by the way geoff I didnt do the gym -did some gardening but hit the booze 2 hours ago ..still doesnt feel a lot better however the bourbon beckons

  55. Geoff

I’m beginning to feel better, after all ‘tomorrow is another day’ da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da.

That was Gone with the wind by the way, just like our FA cup this year.

Tomorrow I’ll be a bit better and back on blogging form.

  56. Mike (the neighbour)

“quite franky my dear I couldnt give a Damn ”

Glad to see the Amstels kicking in -

up beat winning “win learn motivational scenarios ” tomorrow please cos I suspect there is gonna be some big hangovers from the weekend AND if we dont expect the team to have their arses in their hands by wednesday then nor should we

  57. Big Raddy

I am on a fine bottle of Italian Red – Barolo , I believe. Sure to eradicate depression.

Back to Diarra. I repeat, it was against AW’s wishes. And having seen Pompey spawn it against a Preston team that should have won 3-0, Diarra is no loss.

Bollocks to it…. we wake up on Monday 5 points clear, and with a dream game v Milan midweek. And before we start talking AC down, it should be remembered that 8 months ago they won the CL. An ageing team? Don’t you believe it – they are going to be very difficult opposition. Can we beat them…… you bet !!

  58. Mike (the neighbour)

Barola is a fine wine sir -suspect its gonna need 2 bottles -Hope the ballet went well

This is just off the Ac website

A.C. Milan announces that during the training session of today, goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac suffered a dislocation to the phalanx of the index finger in his right hand. His conditions will be evaluated tomorrow to understand whether he will be available for London against Arsenal.

  59. Stupid

How much has the flamster done for the growth of this team, the poor, totally inept and unenergetic perfomance of gilberto as midfield anchor/dictator clearly highlighted this.

When flamster plays he runs the show and totally bosses the midfield, flying into tackles, quick sharp passing and generally dictating our rythmn.

    Gilberto does EXACTLY the opposite!

  60. Stupid

    btw

Gilberto has started EVERY game we have lost this season!!!

Surprised? me? not in the slightest!

His perfomances last season were masked by his goalscoring run. He lost it since that major ack injury 2 seasons ago.

  61. Arjun

shut up n get on with it. shit happened n let it be. if we think we feel aweful about it then think how gutted the lads must be feelin let alone Arsene. lets get on with it, stickin it up the Arse, come on you Italian tarts!!!

  62. Hitman

We are out of the FA Cup. THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT. It is blindlingly obvious that we do not have a squad big enough or good enough to compete on all three fronts. Our back up players are not as good as United back up players. What is the diferece between AFC an MUFC ? The latter spent £80m in the summer on transfers (if you include the defacto signing of Tevez) so of course there squad will be better. We cannot compete so it is logical we scarifice FA cup.
When United are playing in quarters FA cup, we will be playing Wigan on the same day with the chance to go 8pts clear with 9 matches to go (and 11 ahead of Chelsea). That would be a very difficult comback for any Utd team. Its all about priorities given the strength of our sqaud.
HOWEVER. AFC are wealthy enough we are told to compete United. Wenger needs to spent on quality players. There cannot be any excuses for not spending big in the summer. Some of our squad players dont cut the mustard
Hoyte, Gilberto, Eboue, Denilson (harsh) who need to move on. Others are lightweight and inconsistent – Hleb, Bendtner, Rosicky, and go missing in big matches. Some are just too young and not ready for 1st team football – Walcott & Traore. Some are just injured – RVP. We need to buy about 4 key quality (world)class players if we are to keep up with MU & CFC.
Some advcie to Mr Wenger. A great manager doesnt just know how to spot and nuture talent. He also when when to buy.
If you look at Wengers record at AFC you will notice many 2nd place finishes. 4 runners up in the prem, 1 Uefa cup and 1 CL. Some of these could have been avoided had he spent monies on proven players. The worst case was 2003 when not having a back up for Sol and not having a fox in the box cost us in the run in. Yesterdays defeat shows that the sqad is lacking for strengh in depth. Come on Mr Wenger – get the wallet out in the summer.

  63. michael

A very pessimistic blog! I’m gutted like evryone else but I want the league so much more than anything else and so far Arsene DOES knoe (sorry!) on that front. I’m a typical armchair fan but I actually made the trip to Manchester last season to see us beat tham and it was brilliant, But all my cockney red aquaintences have conveniently forgotten that and keep reminding me who’s champions. If I’m at Highbury corner in the summer this will be the last thing on my mind. Oh and about the BBC and Rooney, when we beat them in the final last time, during the game the commentator said “is there anyhting he (Rooney) cant do?” Couldn’t score could he. They still give him man of the match over Lehmann. So I’m never suprised by them anymore.

  64. michael

    Hitman
Are there any players you want to keep? Hleb has been one of the big differencees this season. As for players going missing in big games. Did you see the fake ronaldo in the Milan, spuds ar city games? no? That’s because he went missing.

  65. Pedro

    To RC8.

Wait until Wednesday to see if Clichy is fit, like the article said. Only the naive think the squad was forced upon him. He rested flamini, Ade and Senderos. I reckon he rested Rosicky and Clichy as well.

The Sagna news only came about today, I wrote the article last night.

20 year season ticket holder… so bore me later with the glory hunter shite.

Michael your opinion is welcome here, it wasn’t the happiest blog today, but last night really done me in! I write with my heart… and thats how I felt, plenty of other blogs felt the same!

I know the Mancs invested, but we are the 5th richest club in the world now. Look at the transfer budgets of the 20 teams and we have the lowest spend. If your squad is weak, and you have money, spend some!

Tomorrow is another day, lets hope for better on Wednesday!

  66. Neamman

It was a terrible match but we have bad games every season. Lets not overeact..lots of injuries and a motivated MU team. Its a one off..forget it and trust AW to respond accordingly!! He has taken us to the top of the league and I trust his judgement against anyone posting here, me included!

  67. paul

WENGER HAS 2 TAKE ALL THE BLAME FOR WHAT IS GOING ON . IF HE ISNT INTERESTED WHY SHOULD THE PLAYERS OR SUPPORTERS BE . IF WE HAD JUST WON 3 TITLES IN A ROW THEN MAYBE HE CAN MESS ABOUT WITH THE TEAM , BUT SOMEONE WHO HASNT WON A TROPHY FOR 3 YEARS IS PLAYING A VERY DANGEROUS GAME PUTTING ALL HIS EGGS IN THE 1 BASKET . I THINK THIS IS ALL GOING TO BACKFIRE ON HIM . HE SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IN THE SUMMER AND CERTAINLY IN JAN . ITS A VERY SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS WHEN OUR MANAGER JUST WRITES OFF 2 CUP COMPETITIONS WITHOUT ANY THOUGHT TO THE SUPPORTERS . IF GEORGE G AND T ADAMS WERE THERE THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED

  68. John

The Post couldnt be more spot on….shocking it was yesterday , not one shot on goal !!, I just hope we see a response against Milan as if we play well we will win, they dont have the pace to cope with us or the fitness …well except for Kaka …a 3-0 win and we wont even remember we entered the FA Cup ….!!

  69. Gerry

There’s a lot been said about yesterday’s game, but overall I think this blog hits most nails firmly on the head – we want Arsenal to succeed, and this year we have acheived more than most of us would have expected at the beginning. But…but once we get in this strong position we understandably want to actually acheive something and win the silverware and not just get close – and there are players in our squad that are unfortunately simply not good enough, and if we have to play them regularly as we have had to a few times recently with noticeably poor team performances as a result, we won’t succeed.
    And I am comfortable to mention them;
1 Gilberto – I admit I never rated him (never), not when he joined, not when he kept Edu out of the team even, and whilst he did have a good season by his own standards last year, I think it was more by way of captain and leadership material compared with the sulking henry (I did love Henry by the way), than his quality of play. As soon as I see Gilbertos name on the first team, I know we’re going to play shit, and tend to be proven correct unfortunately. Letting Diarra go was wrong for a number of reasons, not only was he a better option now than Gilberto and with greater potential, but for the money we paid for him, I would told him to show character and play for the position, or I’d have let him, his ego and his dummy rot in the reserves until the end of the season anyway out of principle. I feel Fergie wouldn’t have allowed him to go so easily.
2 Eboue – I read someone say he was a failed right back and now a failed winger. I can’t agree more, yesterday was simply icing on the cake of his brainless attitude, and think he really should be sold, (or politely told to pss off).
3 Traore – potential but far too young and no where even remotely near good enough to play for our first team now and shouldnt be sacrificed in first team action yet,; he has been shite every time I’ve seen him play this year. Something of a possible fault in Wenger by playing players in the first team before they are ready and matured to play at the level. Flamini is a good example of this, he has now developed and is a mature player that is performing whereas he didnt when he was a young pisher.
4 Hoyte – tara i say, he is never going to be good enough and really should be sold, I heard my kid’s under 9 team are looking for someone but I think Hoyte will be judged too old and probably wouldnt have the positional awareness or speed or tackling ability to get in my son’s third division team anyway… I should also say what a great job Wenger has done with Clichy and Sagna this year; imagine if Traore and Hoyte or Eboue had been first choice this year, we would be nowhere near our league position.
5 Wallcott – send him out on loan for some valuable playing experience, we can’t compromise the team for him whilst he is clearly not ready and many of us (myself included) are knocking the poor kid and making a negative opinion of him as a result. Whereas let him develop elsewhere for a few years and who knows, he could be good.
There are quite a few others that for me the jury is still out, Djourou, Song, Bendtner to name a few that have a lot of proving to do to show they’re good enough for the Arsenal squad to bring us success. And quite a few players that need to demonstrate they can generally be relied on to play most games in aseason without habitual injuries laying them off for long times. RVP and Rosicky are two of our best players, but you can’t score goals or contribute when you’re regularly getting rubbed on the physio table.
And for those that may criticise my thoughts, realise this – Manure also played quite a few non first team regulars yesterday, and if we’re honest not only did they perform better than ours yesterday, they do have better quality in depth than the players we had yesterday, and wouldnt it be great for us to invest a little bit more money in bringing in some greater quality and depth into our team so that we can have the greatest chance of winning trophies!!!!
Other than that, end of a long rant, hope we can indeed win the Prem at least now this year (this year, not next..) Come on you Reds!!!

  70. Pedro

Gerry, I think you stole blogger Geoff’s opinions right out of his mouth.

I couldn’t disagree with your assessment. Maybe you’ve been a bit harsh on Gilberto but the rest I fully agree with.

To simply say ‘Wenger knows’ is wrong. He got it wrong yesterday as he did against the spuds. He didn’t go out there looking to lose, so he didn’t ‘know’.

Its been three baron years, and we want to see some trophies this year! If he wins the Champs league or the League, brilliant… but the two cup games will stain our season regardless and the other two are by no means certainties.

I don’t think we’ve over achieved, thats why yesterday was so upsetting.

Wenger is great manager, but he does make some odd decisions.

Still, we have to pick ourselves up and get motivated for milan! A really great opp to do some damage there!

  71. paul

HOW WOULD WENGER AND ALL THE PLAYERS LIKE IT , IF 1 WEEK ALL US SEASON TKT HOLDERS DECIDED WE WERENT UP 4 IT AND COULDNT BE BOTHERED TO TURN UP ? IM SORRY BUT WE CAN MAKE ALL THE EXCUSES IN THE WORLD , AT THE END OF THE DAY WE SHOULD BE PUTTING OUT OUR BEST TEAM WEEK IN WEEK OUT AND GIVING 100% WE HAVENT WON A TROPHY IN 3 YEARS SO WE DONT DESERVE TO HAVE THE LUXURY OF THROWING AWAY 2 CUPS

  72. Odub

Well said Paul! The chazs do it every season, they play their strongest 11 available for most games no matter the competition!! We on the other hand pick and choose what games to play our top players in! Like we’re that good that we can decide what competitions to take seriously! I just hope we don’t end up like Liverpool with egg on our faces and and another season with an empty trophy cabinet!

  73. nucks

Missed the game yesterday (thank god) was at a wedding! But went to the blackburn game last week and thought we got by, not playing all that well as a team. If we beat Milan on wednesday, it won’t seem that bad. I love the F.A cup, i really do, but if you ask me to choose what i want out of the season, I would say the league and the champions league come first for us this season. Yes it really fucking hurts being humiliated by man ure. But lets wait till 10pm on wednesday and see how we feel then. This squad isn’t up to winning every trophy. Last season i watched a very tired man u squad limp over the finishing line in May, not looking at their best. Unfortunately we have to prioritise and it is a very fine line between winning something or nothing. If we wanted to win the F.A cup, then we could have saved our players in the league and not worried about playing Milan. But we need the bigger competitions and we all know it. Until we win the league or champions league, we are just an average team playing very attractive football and that is the reality of it. We must be realistic and Arsene is being just that. If we win either the league or champions league, then we as gooner’s will be ecstatic won’t we? Let’s brush ourselves down and get behind the team. THERE’S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER!! COME ON ARSENAL!!!!!!!

  74. gazzap

the chavs dont play their same 11 in every game – that is a big myth, fact is chelsea have a hige squad and if they make 3 or 4 changes, their team on the pitch still looks like a first team. If Ballack plays instead of Essien, no one really bats an eyelid. but if denilson plays instead of Cesc its clearly a reserve player coming in for a first team player – point is chelsea have a far bigger, more expensive and experienced squad than us because they are bank rolled by a russian crook. But dont have a pop at wenger for wanting to win the league instead of the FA cup. when the other two are sloggint it out in the QFs and the SFs we will have fresh legs for the league games.

  75. Odub

    True!

Too pissed and pised off to carry on the debate guys, me and my bottle of makers mark have had a big duel tonight and I’m afraid MM’s wonm so loights out for me!

  76. Pedro

Chelsea have a big squad Gazzap, but so could we. We are nearly on the same income level as Madrid, some predicting a higher one next year… so we can afford to invest.

Fresh legs could be added to the silver lining section though…

Late night blogging Mike + odub… the shame of it…

  77. Scott the Red

    # This was a hugely understrength team.
    # No Clichy, Sagna, Flamini, Almunia, Adebayor, Rosicky, Cesc or RvP. That is a shed load of talent missing.

    vs

No Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs, Hargreaves, Tevez, Saha, Neville. That is a shed load of talent missing.

I thought Cesc was missing as well. But I’ve just checked on the BBC and Cesc WAS playing. Funny how we both made that mistake ;)

  78. Tom

Well well well, “don’t want the Carling Cup”, “don’t want the FA cup”, give it 2 weeks and it will be “didn’t want the champions league”. What is Arsenal Football club about…. making loads of MONEY or winning matches.
A football club is about winning matches no matter what the competition or opposition is.
Got a feeling no trophy at all this season!!

  79. FPB

an honest appraisal for once. this was the poorest Arsenal performance I’ve seen in a long time. i’m sure it was a mental thing – away to Manu, just the FA cup, players missing etc. the game was up after 10 minutes.

is it the start of the end of the season or the smartest move wenger’s ever made….?
more thoughts back at the blog (but it’s not complementary!)

COME ON GUYS LETS FORGET THIS. IF THIS WAS A LEAGUE GAME THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE PASSION WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT. 5 POINTS CLEAR IN THE LEAGUE! WE COULD BE CHAMPIONS IN 3 MONTHS! WE COULD ALSO BE IN MOSKOW IN 3 MONTHS! CARLING CUP ANDFA CUP R NOTHING ANYMORE. STAY POSITIVE AND KEEP CHEERING THE TEAM ON JUST LIKE WE DID ON SATURDAY.

  81. jamesgillesp

I am not really sure what to make of the game. It did seem to me that Arsene had his mind elsewhere, I think he went out to try and get something though.
It seems that he wants to get a league title for the team, and being in a decent position there, he decided that he wouldn’t risk those players in a cup tie, because if they were injured then we would have the line up we had against manu for longer than you would like. I think he just put it into persepctive. That said I didn’t think the way we played was good at all and we should always try to win every game. For the fans its really really disappointing and maybe a bit more depth in the squad would mean Wenger would feel that we could challenge for more honours….
Now we have to pick it up and get a run together for the CL and the Prem, lets look forward now I say!!!

    COME ON YOU GOOOOOOOOOOOONERSSSSSS!!!!!!!

  82. Evo in OZ

Wenger is definitely shooting for the CL, not FA Cup.

If Dida is still injured and now Kalac is injured, that bodes well for us. Surely their 3rd string guy couldnt be that great?

Kalac is a man mountain, they call him “Spider”, he’s that tall. 6 foot 12 million. He’s been socceroos backup for a decade (behind Schwarzer)!

Come on Gooners, lets get back on the Bandwagon!

  83. 71/72

We’ve got to look at this objectively. Something had to give. With the injuries and the ‘lite reserves’ Wenger made the right decisions.

If he is going to keep this squad together and add to it in the summer he needs to be in the race for the league, right up to the last day of the season and the CL to at least the semis.

The FA cup, no matter how romantic / wrapped in history is not heavyweight enough.

The squad knew this was a game lost prior to the kick-off. Not ideal and I dont agree with it BUT at least with this approach there will be no Knock on for Weds night and no new injuries.

  84. Denilsonsdad

In January when i was trying to explain on this site that we need le boss to buy some players and strengthen incase of of any eventualities, this is exactly what i meant, yet i was villified by certain gooners (you know who you are). When you buy players you create competetion for places and the players you already have, up there game, this is not happening at the moment, there is no competition. If we have to prioratise for certain competitions how the fuck are we ever going to win a treble, it aint going to happen unless Wenger stops giving in to every players request to leave and start spending our hard earned cash.

  85. Mark

I think the thing to point out here is that there is a massive gulf between reserve football and top class football.

I think it must be hard to play away in front of 76,000 fans.

Traore and Hoyte were not given much support by Eduardo, Gilberto and Eboue.

Lets hope Clichy can play against Milan as well as Flamini.

  86. jammin gooner amin

we havent won anything in 3 years – yes the PL is top priority but we need to put trophies in the cupboard and such obvious contempt for the FA cup is just not acceptable

i think nobody expected us to be in the position we are in the PL but theres a long way to go and we have 2 away days against our nearest challengers so there is everyting yet to play for

plus, psychologically this must have an effect for our league visit to OT and remember they also had 2 of their best players this season out and whilst we obviosuly missed Ade, Flamini, Clichy Sagna, we still had a pretty strong line up

  87. paul

if we are going to drop some of our better players for some games , wenger should make sure the ones that come in are good enough , what ive seen this season they clearly are not . mr wenger ,i think its time to spend because squads win trophies not teams .13 top plyers isnt enough

  88. 5am

Couldn’t agree more with this blog. It’s so frustrating that fans need to chuck fake fivers at el stingo Wenger rather than greedy guts Cloe! Getting sick of the small mentality provided by ever youtthful purchases on the basis that we’re forever a team to be, rather than a team that is……….. On Sat it should’ve been Eboue covering for Hoyte (as much as Eboue vexes me, he wouldn’t have backed away from Nani’s skill) Toure should’ve been in for Gilberto or Flamini swtiched to RB to accommodate. Senderos could’ve kept the good partnership with Gallas going. I still think that should be the selection for Milan (possible drop Eboue if Sagna and Theo are ready to come back) There’s ways to make this team work but AW is gutting things fine when he should be using a lto of the money that fans have paid for to ensure a big team than competes on ALL fronts. When did you ever see Man U lose by such an embarrassing margin?????

  89. Paul N

So how do u really prepare for so many injuries. Should Arsene just buy players to have them on the bench or keep miserable players and stifle them just for an in case situation, i mean there is no way to expect this many injuries at once. Dont u guys remember the pain last year of being in the running for nothing? i do not condone not playing well at all but i believe given what happened last year this is what Wenger thought he needed to do, especially given the amount of INJURIES AGAIN. it hurts but it must be looked at with perspective. Win nothing or concentrate on winning the most important things! i’m sorry but with all the INJURIES i can understand. We fans really need to get a grip – we complain too much and really if u do not like what is being done u can support another team or not go to the matches and waste ur money. As i said i am not condoning the lack of fight but too much of us want to throw the baby out with the bath water. we r from one extreme to the other – no middle ground at all. When we beat Milan wednesday, Wenger and Arsenal will be the greatest thing since slice bread. This roller coaster ride is quite tiring. For the dude who did not get any sleep – cut that out Bro. this is not that important – its just a game in which players get paid quite a lot mind u. Enjoy the wins but get over the losses quickly or it will stress u the hell out!

Arsenal for the CL and BPL!

    God Bless

U call yourselves Arsenal supporters? ure worse than Paul Merson all he does is say Arsenal arent good enough to win a trophy.Arsenal had a shocker of a game against Man U who cares does it mean its gona ruin our season NO. One bad game and now its a crises! You wont b saying that when Arsenal beat Milan on wednesday and when we win the Prem will ya.Wait till we have Van Persie back .Also dont critise Wenger if it wasnt for him we wouldnt be top of the league, we wouldnt have a fantastic new stadium and we wouldnt be the 5th richest club in the world! WENGER KNOWS!!!!

Plainly, losing 4-0 to your worst rivals is simply not acceptable and throwing the game like some have suggested is borderline treason.I personally didnt travel to this game because of family commitment but i would have travelled if not for a birthday saving me.But several others did and travelling from Denmark to Scrap heap central aka Manchester is not easily done and costs a few bucks. Some of the people i spoke to are angry no irate with that performance and the total lack of commitment and they dont earn 50 grand as easy as your average footballer.Losing is ok but being spineless is not.
