Eto’o in swap sensation for Robin the boy wonder

November 20, 2007

Ok that’s what arsenalshorts are ‘tongue in cheek’ saying, first of all why would we want a Barca croc that constantly causes trouble, for one of the worlds best players? We wouldn’t, so ignore it.

Robin Van Persie, who I have to say takes the best free kicks I have ever seen, will stay at Arsenal for life.

Modric, maybe, but he does look a little small and really is the same type of player as Rosicky, then he’ll have to bed in for a year, as given that
Rosicky and Eduardo still haven’t clicked, it doesn’t really make any sense and at £30mil is way over priced.

Anyway, we have way too many midfield players in the team and coming through, so for me another dead story.

We do need an out and out winger though, possibly a centre back and of course a goal keeper.

I would expect a bit of activity with Man City, maybe Diaby for Richards could be on the cards and to be honest, that’s the only way I would handle losing him.

Ideal world for me, Richards in, Green in and a pacey winger like Robinho.

Richards to give us that bit of steel at the back and cover for the much injured Gallas, who I love by the way, but you need 4 center backs these days.

Green because he’s a better bet than Almunia and he is English and I think we do need to have a spine of English players, just so that I can start watching England games again and enjoying them.

And a winger, I know I mentioned Robinhio before but he isn’t a regular for Madrid and I think he would work well with our style of play.

Gilberto to go in a swap deal with Richards and Lehman to City.

Diaby should be played in center midfield and I expect to see him and Diarra both playing against Wigan.

Other than that we need no one and won’t in the summer, this team will just get better and better, what we don’t need is yet another central midfield player and that’s why I rule out Modric.

We’re fine up front and it was good to see Bendtner banging in another against Northern Ireland.

Theo will play more and I expect him and Robin to start threatening the Ade partnership, who again (Ade that is) is growing into the team and will always cause problems and score when you least expect it.

So team for Saturday.

Almunia

Hoyte Kolo Gallas Traore

Hleb Diarra Diaby Rosicky

Ade RVP

With Fabianski, Theo, Bendtner, Gilberto and Sagna on the bench.

These are the games he’ll experiment and try and keep players happy, we have a tough run in December and I expect by the Chelsea game he’ll know, and they’ll know the best 11 and that way they’ll be no more whinging.

We had a record number of hits yesterday so we must be doing something right in a non footballing fortnight, keep blogging Grovers, we value your opinion.

Diaby and Denilson to Spurs? No chance. Robin to Barca, great news.

November 19, 2007

Why would Arsenal sell two of it’s brightest prospects to Spurs? They are delusional.

And why would we sell star striker Robin to Barcelona? sure sign it’s international week.

The great thing about the RVP story is perhaps they’ll leave Cesc alone now!

I guess the positive news is all our players are wanted, the tough bit for Arsene though is keeping them all happy. And with the rich crop of youngsters coming through it’s only going to get harder.

That’s why he’s paid £6mil a year and I’m not though. I do wish he would come out and say something on arsenal.com

Zokora already showed the footballing world why going to Spurs was a career version of ‘I’ve been framed’ even if Spurs started to get in new players, they would only do that by getting rid of players like him.

Then you hear things like David Villa to Spurs in £30 million bid, in their dreams, where will they get that sort of money from, and why on earth would he go? unless of course we buy Berbatov!

Adriano to Arsenal I don’t think would happen as he appears to be a Jermain Pennant type.

Mad Jens is at it again, I think he really has to go, I mean how can Almunia feel when his team mate constantly slags him off?

Watching Craig Gordon makes me wonder why we didn’t buy him, maybe a swap for Justin Hoyte and cash is on the cards, who knows?

Finally McClaren gets a reprieve this week for Euro 2008 and what does he do? He sends Theo to Portugal! What a very strange man, he brings in Bent, who doesn’t even get a game for Tottenham ands sends Theo, England’s saviour off to play for the under 21’s who, bar the shouting, have already qualified, so Gerrard, Brooking and all the old boys at the FA, take note, you have an Arsenal youngster ready and able and you won’t give him a chance.

Isn’t that what you accuse Wenger of doing?

England handed life line, thanks to the Sun.

November 18, 2007

According to the Israeli coach it was the suggestion that Israel were collaborating with Russia that made them win.

The up side is England will probably qualify, the down side is McClaren will probably stay.

Still Scotland lost and today that’s all that counts. I asked a Scottish mate if he wants to sell me his plane tickets to Austria, he said, how was that a free kick? I said, how was Ferguson’s goal a goal?

It gets me that when they talk about the Welsh, Irish and the Scottish they say they’re are small nations, and it’s tough to get good players, when you work out that most of them live in England or are related through marriage or something, you’ll probably find they have as many to choose from as we do, and they’re still shit so, ha, ha and see you later.

I mean Freddie Eastwood qualified for Wales because his Grandmother’s caravan was in Wales when she was born, Jesus!

Onto Arsenal. Not a great deal going on today save the Telegraph says unbeaten Croatia (I guess no one told them they lost last night) will be unhinged if Theo plays in the last 20 minutes.

Even though he obviously doesn’t watch much football, Croatia did lose last night after all, but at least someone told him about Theo and I for one agree, it’s time McClaren started to use the under 21 system a bit more, he did it with Richards and now he should do it with Theo.

Frank Sinatra has given Sven £150mil to spend which is interesting, given that he’s a foreigner, Sven’s a foreigner and all the players he bought were indeed foreign.

Sinatra is doing it with Thai taxpayers money (allegedly) and that’s okay, bring in a talented 15 year old Mexican and the sport minister (ex lifer) Sutcliffe gets involved.

Perhaps we should extradite Wenger, that would make Ferguson happy and show the Thai people we mean business.

Sutcliffe’s happy, Coppell and Gerrard are sweet and Frank Sinatra goes top of the league with questionable money, it doesn’t get fairer than that.

It really is bizarre isn’t it???

Theo swears and gets angry

November 17, 2007

It’s true, Theo Walcott who played a blinder against Bulgaria last night was felled in the penalty area by a dirty foreigner, like the ones that play for Arsenal, only dirtier, got a penalty, wanted to take it but was told by the manager that Milner took them.

Milner, the ugliest footballer since Luke Chadwick, took the penalty and scored.

Theo said that’s f*****g b******s and the manager said ‘that’s what Theo needs to do’. Incredible if I said fucking bollocks on this blog, people would complain. Theo does it and its okay!

Anyway he played a blinder which is good for us. I wonder if now that Steve Bruce has gone to Wigan we’ll get Djourou back earlier.

Quite amazing that, Bruce is set to double his £16,500 a week salary, he gets paid that much to lose games for the Brummies, and Wigan can pay £33k a week to a manager that will get them relegated!

I should be in football. Tough game being a manager isn’t it?

Thank god we didn’t buy the Englishman Owen, what a crock he is, thank goodness Wenger didn’t bow to the ‘buy English’ brigade.

It makes you glad we only buy filthy stinking foreigners doesn’t it.

Still if we had to play Wigan with a new manager, thank the lord it’s Steve Bruce, an Englishman (yes Geordies are English) I don’t think we’ve ever lost to him.

I expect he’ll be asking for one or two of our players in January though.

As a few of you said yesterday, it will be a struggle finding stories this weekend, so a big well done to Theo Walcott and his amazing foul mouth!

Adriano swap deal mooted…?

November 16, 2007

Good afternoon Grovers! A rarity from Le Grove… an afternoon blog! You lucky things!

I’m basically testing our feeds after dealing with the teething problems of a site transfer. What a fucking pain in the ass!

Anyway, onto the groverlicious tit bits from the afternoon feeds!

Mad Jens has stated that he is going to see out the rest of the year at Arsenal citing family reasons. Also, the cost of transporting his 400 tonne ego back to Germany is proving troublesome. Jens had this to say,

“There are situations where you find yourself behind a goalkeeper who is world-class and you have to accept that.

“But I am not in this situation,”.

Jens, you big old bitch!

He also had this to say,

“I believe a manager must be honest with his players,”

Well Jens, seen as the manager won’t be honest with you. I will. You dropped two horrendous clangers in a row, you consistently cause us problems at corners and you scare the children. Think of the children Jens, for god’s sake think of the children!

Diarra talks to Skysports here about his current lack of first team opps. He says he is puzzled, but he is sure it will be sorted soon.

A change of attitude? Or did he read this libelfootball exclusive! It makes for a nice link, but like most stories from this trusted site… probably a load of old horse shit.

Wenger has been chatting at a press conference. He does a bit of PR work to appease the xenophobes, he also reckons Eduardo will blossom in the new year.

Stevie B is 45 today. Happy birthday Steve! He talks to Arsenal.com about the predominantly English youth team. It makes for an interesting read.

That’s your lot for Friday you greedy news fiends!

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for your patience this week!

Agbonlahor to Arsenal!!!

November 16, 2007

No thanks, well at least I don’t think so but I’ll come to that later.

Firstly let me comment on the back pages today which have McClaren saying ‘I will survive, and even if England don’t qualify, I won’t resign’ great news Stevie boy, is it me, or is it with the exception of Robson and Venables, England managers apart from being useless have no pride whatsoever.

Moving on for the last time to the quota boys, sports minister Sutcliffe has now joined in the debate, calling for quotas, not content with his early release from a life sentence Sutcliffe feels that too many foreigners are holding back our superstar celebrities and the chances of young celebrities breaking through and becoming overpaid real celebrities.

The English Premier league is the best, the biggest, the richest, the most watched and has the world’s greatest players on show, week in, week out.

Do they think for one minute, it would be any of that if we restricted the flow of overseas players? In their fucking dreams it would, they all need to grow up and engage brain.

Remember the old first division? Shitty pitches, no training facilities, £400 transfer budgets, Ian Selley and Tommy Caton and we got to watching games days later on ‘The Big Match’ or ‘Match of the day’ no live ones, no sports channels, nothing, the good old days, see where I’m coming from here?

Do those delusional twats think for one minute we would get that kind of money if we had quotas, would we fuck.

McClaren decided he needed to go to Hollywood again to see ex Captain ‘won nothing Beckham’, why? Does he not know what he plays like by now? He should do, he sacked him didn’t he?

It’s all part of the celeb shit we have to endure, it’s all part of the stitch up to get Beckham his hundredth cap, we should be blooding youngsters, like Walcott and Young, we know what Beckham does…his bastard hair.

What exactly did we win under him? Nothing, in all his time playing for England he did nothing, apart from an equaliser against Greece.

He also lost us the World Cup when he got sent off against Argentina, jumped out of a tackle against Brazil and scuffed a penalty against Portugal. So why on earth bring him back for a friendly?

If they want to introduce quotas, do it with managers, that’s where we need young talent, that way Ferguson can fuck off back to Scotland and help their football and the last time I looked, that was in the shitter, so Fergie, go do it in your own back yard and leave ours to the English.

Final point on quotas

Fabianski, Clichy, Toure, Eboue, Traore, Cesc, Diaby, Denilson, Merida, Bendtner, Senderos and Djourou are all academy kids and would fall outside of quotas, so we would have the same team.

So the whole argument is floored.

Agbonlahor

I’m not sure we need another youngster and I’m not sure he’s good enough and Villa are rich and probably wouldn’t sell unless… a deal has been done with Hoyte, I hope not but if not I’ll put that one down to paper talk.

Sorry I went on today and this is the last on quotas and England.

Next week it’s all Arsenal!

Krusty the clown joins the hate Arsenal debate!

November 15, 2007

Krusty, otherwise known as Steven Gerrard, the inarticulate muppet from up north somewhere, has added his irritating squeaky voice to the ‘jump on the bandwagon and have a go at Arsenal’ debate.

He follows every four words with an eeeeeeh, which as an ambassador for the English team, I find embarrassing, it’s like he never went to school, and he never smiles either, what a twat.

Liverpool have bought more oversees players than anyone, there manager and assistant manager are foreign and they are owned by a yank, so ‘pot and kettle’ spring to mind, message to Krusty, shut the fuck up and mind your own business.

When Liverpool were dominating in the 80’s they had the like of Rush (Welsh) Dalglish (Scottish) Molby (Danish) Wark (Scottish) Nichol (Scottish) Grobbleaar (Rhodesian) Belgian (Irish) Rosenthall (Israeli) how many local boys?

How many English kids since Gerrard have come through? …none, that’s how many.

It’s funny that when we were 300 points behind ManU last season and out of all the cups, no one said a word, now we’re top, 27 games unbeaten in all competitions, top of our Champions league group and playing football that’s never been seen before, they all start complaining.

When Liverpool were dominant in the 80’s and ManU in the 90’s and Chelsea for two years, most of their teams had overseas players and the authorities loved it, they said how great was our league, we dominate the European Cup and attract the best players from around the world.

Arsenal do it without bringing in stars, with kids from around the globe, that could have all ended up useless, didn’t and now every one is moaning.

When ManU took the best young talent in the world did anyone complain? Where did Beckam come from, Ince? Both were from London but ManU were a draw, and probably paid them shed loads to join, now we have the best, there’s uproar.

Can you imagine if we stocked our league with David Batty’s and David Hillier’s? The Sky money would disappear in a heart beat.

If the English boys are good enough, they’ll play, if they’re not they won’t. Maybe if young English players shared the same attitude as young Cesc, the national team would be a little more motivated?

Make a judgement in 5 years time, then they’ll complain that Arsenal get all the young English talent because they are the worlds richest club!

That’s why we fill our ground every week, that’s why people pay to go on a 15 year waiting list, because we play great football.

Why don’t we say we’ll only screen British made films so that we develop our film industry, why don’t we ban all the overseas corporations from the UK because they’re damaging British business, why don’t we only sell British cars and tell the Germans and the Japanese to fuck off, we don’t, why? Because we are democratic and believe in a free market, the best will sell, if you want to be there, work harder and be as good.

That’s what makes the world go round.

Oh and a message for Krusty, go and play for a team that’s owned by English people if you’re so patriotic, you twat.

Note – Please refresh your RSS feeds if you subscribe otherwise you wont be able to see when we update!

Thanks!

Kitson signs for Arsenal

November 14, 2007

It’s true Readings Dave Kitson, formers Spurs fan says we are the best team on the planet etc, etc.

I know every blog site will report on this today so I won’t elaborate, but as he is now an official Arsenal columnist I had to mention the contrast between his twat racist manager who says Wenger is ruining English football and his comments, that we should win tons of silverware because our football deserves it. Well done that man.

It’s funny when every decent player on the planet went to Italy Brady, Rush, Platt, Ronaldo, Gullit, Zidane and latterly Viera, Kaka and Figo, no one including Platini, Ferguson, Moanrinho or Coppell said a word, when Madrid and Barca did likewise in this century, again no one said a word.

Now Arsenal who haven’t bought any well know stars to the Grove but scoured the world for young unknown talent and because of managerial skill have turned them into the ‘best footballing team on the planet’ Kitson’s words not mine, there’s uproar!

So no English players they cry, well suck on this one, Gavin Hoyte, Henri Lansbury, Jay Simpson, Rhys Murphy, Kyle Bartley, Matthew Connolly, Kerrea Gilbert, Mark Randall, Justin Hoyte and of course Theo Walcott.

I make that 10 and all playing for England, not to mention the ones we sold Bentley, Muamba, Pennant and Upson, again all capped by their country at some level.

I left out Gibbs as I think he may have played for Ireland, but I’m not sure.

So that’s not just 10 English kids, that’s 10 kids that have played for England, plus 4 more England players we sold. Total of 14 currently on the scene, who else can boast that?

So to the knob head gang of 4 racists that have been having a dig for how we have ruined English football, do your homework, wankers.

The problem with England and it’s players is they’re overpaid, tactically inept, and boring, and surprise, surprise, Gerrard sticks up for Maclaren, you know, the twat who picks him.

I remember the players sticking up for Sven, and the Chavs sticking up for the special sacked one, it’s funny how they always stick up for the person that picks them.

Back to Arsenal, I have never watched our team, expecting them to win away games every time, I’m looking at the December fixtures and see no reason why we can’t win them all, heck we could go all season unbeaten again, why not? This team is better than the Invincibles.

No football for two weeks but we’ll think of something to keep you all going.

Cesc took one for the team

November 13, 2007

Didn’t you just love it when Cesc deliberately got himself booked, so he only misses the Wigan at home game? What a warrior!

Well I have to say I was very surprised at Wenger’s team selection, in fact I was staggered, we played 4-5-1 in our last two matches and draw, he says ‘I made a mistake’ and then we play Reading and he does it again!

For the first half that we totally dominated we had nothing to show for it, apart from a Flamini goal that was more down to him and his steamroller style of ‘give me the fucking ball’ than tactics, I thought it was a mistake, Reading had eleven behind the ball and weren’t coming out.

Every time we passed back to Almunia, he side footed to a defender, which showed how many forwards they had up front. I also thought we were trying to pass it into the net and found myself joining with the pub crowd and shouting ‘shooooooot’ although I am being critical, and I know I’m becoming a spoilt bastard, we were, absolutely in control and played fantastic football, I just hate 4-5-1 though.

It was good to see Adebayor score at last, he was unlucky in the first couple of minutes and he thoroughly deserved his passed in shot. Hleb only scored because he had no-one else to pass to, but it was a great goal all the same.

My point being we could have won 10 nil, we were so good we should have had more shots, and more players on the pitch that can shoot.

I thought he left it way to late when he bought the rub-a-dubs on.

Still we won and did it convincingly, I really think this could be our season, and the nonchalant way Cesc got himself booked was better than the goals, that kid is class, pure class.

I expect Diarra rather the Denilson will take his place in the middle, but long gone are the days when I winced at the subs bench, we have class coming out of every pore, oh it’s great to be an Arsenal fan.

Go for the Jugular

November 12, 2007

No excuses tonight, we’re only playing Reading and the muppet that manages them, ex Manc Steve Coppell has slagged our young foreigners off big time and he needs to be punished.

No 2 nil win will do here, we need to win big and send out a message to the worlds best team Manchester United, that we and not them are in fact the worlds best team.

We don’t need to win ugly as Almunia says, we need to win playing the football we did last year and tonk them. Send them down if you will.

With the team fit again, save young Robin, the forwards should be sending a message regarding selection to their boss, Slavia Prague was not good enough, no excuses tonight, go for the jugular.

Good news that Chelsea drew and Liverpool were lucky, scoring in the last 10 minutes, ManU played half the game against 10 men and should have done better but tonight we have a real opportunity to show our championship credentials.

ManU have an easy run coming up so we need to get the points on the board tonight.

May well be a game for Diarra and his amazing engine, but I expect the team to look like this.

Almunia

Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy

Hleb Flamini Cesc Rosicky

Walcott Adebayor

Subs Bendtner Eduardo Gilberto Diarra

I’ll be at the pub tonight and really don’t want to be standing there biting my nails, from the off boys and show the world what you’ve got.

Arsenal 4 nil.
