Ooops, does that mean I’m going to get sued?

This PC shit does my bollock in. The truth of the matter is: Spud fans aren’t Jews generally, and they have chosen to call themselves yiddos. They call themselves that with pride and identify themselves as a group by it.

Now every fan of every other club in London hate Tottenham, and so they use the idnetifying name spuds fans use in a derogatory way. It could be anything: if they called themselves spuds we’d be singing songs about the Irish potato famine. We got nothing against the Irish (well apart from the obvious) and nothing against potatoes but it matters not a jot.

Unfortuantely there’s an overlap. I’ve been drawing a Venn diagram and it seems that songs against Tottenham reference one of the worst passages of human history re: the holocaust.

This is where a sense of humour comes in. Preferably humour of the blackest kind. We sing and shout all sorts of foulness from the terraces. I remember stumbling into the North Bank, fully cut and a bit late when we were playing Wednesday and first thing I saw was DiCanio scythe a gunner. Literally first thing out of my mouth was ‘fuck off Di Canio you dirty wop cunt’. I then settled myself into my seat next a suitably scared 10 year old and proceeded to sing and shout all sorts. When all was done and we won (3-1 if memory serves and a debut brace of goals from dennis) I was happy and Larry and didn’t go out searching to hit the nearest Italian. I have nothing against Italy: good sauages, brilliant wine, alright lager and hairy but attractive women.

Ah yes, what is said on the terraces stays on the terraces. Its a moment of the balckest humour that is mostly tongue in cheek. Yes a minority may really mean it, but generally they have been eliminated from the modern game. Its like the telling of a really filthy joke
